You are the Commander of Panzer Kompanie 8, part of SS Panzer Regiment 2
of II SS Panzergenadier Division "Das Reich". Your Kompanie of Tigers
and supporting Kampfgruppe units will lead the Panzerkiel of the "Das Reich"
Division in this critical offensive operation. The 14 Panzers in your command are
the only Tigers in the "DR" Division.
Their survival and correct tactical employment are vital to your success in the
coming operations.*
*
II SS PzGren Division "Das Reich" along with I SS PzGren Division "Liebstandart Adolf Hilter"
and III SS PzGren Division "Totenkopf" form the II SS Panzer Korps. As part of Army Group
South you will be advancing north into the Kursk salient along the Belgorod/Oboyan/Kursk
axis. The objective of the operation is to meet up with the forces of Army Group Center
to the east of Kursk thus encircling then destoying all Soviet forces within the salient.*
*
"DR" Division will be facing the units of the Soviet 6th Guards Army and the 69th Army.
The Soviets have numerical superiority and have well developed defensive positions
including minefeilds, anti-tank defenses, plentiful artillery and strong armoured
reserves to conduct counter offensives.*
*
You will need to use all of the assets at your disposal with excellent
combined arms co-ordination, flexiblity and aggresiveness to achieve victory.
Do not expose your Tigers to unnecessary risk, you will not have the resources
to replace them if they are destroyed and you will lessen your chances of success
in subsequent operations.*
*
*
The units of your core Kampfgruppe are fixed. Any support from Division will be
assigned as required.*

Design Notes*
*
This campaign is fairly close to historical accuracy. I used maps from the "Panzer Elite"
tank simulator game for some scenarios, which are not accurate, but are very playable.
As a general reference I used the book "Kursk 1943" from the Osprey Military Campaign Series.
