Welcome to the Mekong Delta Colonel. As you are aware our airborne operations have made an impression in this area over the last few months. The bad news is of course now every machinegun within a hundred miles has an AA mount. Your job is to assemble a taskforce to opperate in the delta region. This is not good tank country colonel, I'm not at all sure it's worth even requesting a single tank, let alone more. You may want to consider LVTPs but keep them out of the mud or they'll just bog down. Artillery will be assigned on a per mission basis so you should not need to requisition much more than a few mortars. When selecting Auxiliary forces you may request ARVN or US army units. Operating in this area you should expect casualties but try not to let them get out of hand, Good luck.
*** Designer Notes. At times you will be working with ARVN forces. If assigned as fixed deployment units they will not be under your command (switch to AI control in the HQ menu). Civilians will appear as "green" forces. They will usually have 0 movement and no weapons but if they have either they should also be under AI control. They are not expensive but you will do better if you can keep them alive. In a number of these battles there are VC held victory hexes which are off map and cant be taken. This means you have to kill the enemy without too many losses to get a DV. All maps are set to a river crossing type so your troops will carry rafts at all times. You will normally be assigned 4 barges as auxillery forces. Do not select barges as part of your core force as they will disappear after the first battle, You will probably need to add other boats to your core force as a barge can just carry a platoon and you will probably want some recon troops, morters etc as well. If you do not include boats in your core force you will need extra transport from your support. Where mission briefing specifies "deploy on the river" any troops need to be deployed in river hexes, If you have helicopters, they should still be over the river. Any vehicles you buy would need to be put into barges. If you find you can't meet this deployment condition, any units you can't deploy correctly should be left in the default position and not used in the battle. Turn ID tags on in preferances to see unit ID flags. It will help you to recognise civilians, ARVN forces and barges with your own troops when on combined opperations.
