Narrative*
Lt. John 'Butch' Cassidy is the young officer in charge (OIC) of SEAL Platoon Golf, SEAL Team 10

based out of Little Creek, Virginia. The Naval Special Warfare Group 2 (NSWG-2) selected Butch

Cassidy with the task of taking out the anti-aircraft and SAM radar installation recently

installed by the Bashar al-Assad regime after the highly acclaimed rescue led by Captain Yuzbas

Batman Baturaip, B Co, 2nd Abn, 1 Cdo Bde in the Turkish operation Lightening Shield several

days ago. Apparently one of the several Syrian Turk professors rescued at the agricultural

college during Lightening Shield disclosed during debriefing of a secret Syrian weapons of mass

destruction biological facility southeast of the college. This disclosure moved Recep Tayyip

Erdogan the Turkish prime minister, who with ample concern appraised the American president Obama

of the situation. As we know, the American administration maintained that any use of chemical or

biological agents by the Bashar regime represents a 'red line.'**

The Americans frustrated by Russias uncooperative and often contravening positions at the UN has

led president Obama and his National Security team to mount a direct action operation to destroy

the facility southeast of the Kafar Houm village in Northwest Syria along the Syrian Turk

border. Carla Jenkins, a smart young Special Operations analyst working on the Administrations

National Security team, who many have speculated is really a CIA employee working specifically

for the Special Activities Division (SAD), placed an NSA encrypted call to her college friend,

Samuel Blackman a civilian analyst working with the Teams out of Little Creek, Virginia.

Blackman, a tall rough neck prototypical NBA power forward bodied guy in turn reached out to

Butch Cassidy. Now all of this was going on in the background behind the noise from the higher

headquarters.**

At NSWG-2 the planning was in earnest for a quick assault upon the suspect WMD facility. As is

not as uncommon as one might come to expect, the nitty-gritty of the operation leaked out from

the Troops E-8 to SEAL Platoon Golfs E-7 as the two chiefs go way back to Lebanon in 1983.

Before the word began to spread on the boat amongst the platoon, Butch Cassidy, Golfs OIC took

the older chief by the collar and quietly learned the details. He was to lead Golf, riding in

little birds over Turkey from the Mediterranean Sea into Syria just south of Kafar Houm village,

the scene of an intense fight just weeks ago where the Syrian 19th Mech Bde was utterly routed by

the small Turkish TF-139 BCT at what is quickly becoming known as the 'Battle of Little

Richard.'**

Julius Mack Perkins, Lt Cmdr, a SEAL Troop commander, SEAL TEAM 10 informed Butch Cassidy of his

mission: 'To locate, close with, and destroy the enemys advanced AA/SAM radar warning and

control facility by fire and maneuver, and to repel an enemy assault by fire and close combat.'**

Perkins pressed his mouth close to his handset, 'Butch, you must destroy the facility. You must,

no two ways about this man. The 1/6 Marines is right behind you, so you cannot fail, theres no

retreat, the whole frigging BLT is right behind you guys. You gotta put his eyes out baby.'**

Butch Cassidy did not have to read between the lines as it was plain that the NSA as his chief

had told him was not going to risk fixed-wing assets on this one. They reasoned late into the

afternoon that the Russians had not given up their missiles 'friend/foe' codes this time as they

had done in the first Gulf war over Bagdad, thus the SEALs and specifically, SEAL Platoon Golf as

they were attached to the 1/6 Hard of the 22nd MEU on cruise rotation in the Mediterranean had

won the lottery.**

Gameplay: Play this scenario on the side of SEAL Platoon Golf against the AI. Gameplay is 10

turns with visibility at 5.**

Victory conditions: Destroy the AA/SAM radar control facility atop Hill 692 and occupy same

space.**

Notes: SEAL Teams cost values are modified to 350 for fire teams, 750 for the UH-1Y Venoms, 96

for Snipers and 196 for Pathfinders.**
