About Gilders in WWII

I build that OOB based on some historical resarch and information found in books. Based on that I can said that number of pilots crew of gilder is correct according to sources, also capacity of soliders and years of avability (smotimes with lack of exactly dates are assumptions)

//Soviets

Pioners of gilders as a transport for soliders were soviets according to book

Their G-63 were a prototype only but represents idea of soliders wich can land and be ready to action imedietly without any use of parachute. G-63 was huge and transport soliders in their wings like a bombs what was't great concept from point of view of psychology were strong emotional support is necessary amongs paratroops soliders. From this point of view GN-4 was real military gilder like german DFS but his shortcoming was a small capacity. BTW both were constructed before german think about this so Russians were real pioniers in military doctrine of using gilders. My proposition is to add this two gilders even if in reality they existed only one in piece because that my represent option that in around middle thirties soviets has military doctrine and were ready to mass production of military gilders in case of war before any other nation think about this seriously. Of course for use in what-if scenerios.

Real first produced gilder were A-7 also know as RF-8 (Rot Front-8)
This gilder prototypes were constructed around 1939-1940 were soviets create competition in newspaper for military gilder which can carry more solders than GN-4 and isn't so huge as G-63. Intrest in that subject was also inspired by german use of gilders in Eben-Emael. Was build in quite big number of 400 airframes. Most of them were use for carry supply to partisants in today Bealorusia and in not many soviets airdrop operations were less numerous than G-11 during soviet landing operations.

G-11 also know as Gr-29

Bulid in number of 500-600 airframes were basic default gilder for paratrops solders. During disastorous para operation Dniepr Crosing in 1943 were used for land 45mm AT gun for paradroped units and also for supply them. They were also used for supply partisants but less often than A-7

BDP

Were constructed as a heavy gilder and build in small number but more than 10. Is unknow when they were used but is possible that were kept to transport heavier guns until end of war.

Ts-20 also know as KC-20

Was equivalent of Horsa and with bigger capacity can carry 24 soliders and guns but wasn't prepared for cary vehicles. That is possible the reason why was only build in small quantity.

SAM-23

Were from the start constructed to carry some small vehicle like Jeep but unfortunetly build only in small number.

C-25

Constructions start during war but serial production of airframes come to units in 1946. First real soviet heavy transport gilder like Hamilcar which can carry jeep with guns or small truck. Also build in small quantity <50

A-40 Krylaty Tank (fly tank)

Like a hamilcar can transport T-60 directly to battelfield. As were in description prototype was sucesfully and fly and land without problems but TB-3 motor power was to week to tug them longer. Rusians then decide that if they haven't tug aircraft in enough number and that was 1942 and were other prorities so they abondon A-40 idea. BTW I know that you are not big fan of adding fly tank because two icons are used with and without tank and hardcoding routine will be necessary for such unit. But is still possible to keep icon for scenerio designers even if will be not added as a unit in OOB.

//British

Hotspur was a first real british military gilder used only in training and never tested in real missions but may be usefully for what-if scenerios because was only aviable gilder in early forties. Build in big quantity of 1027 were 997 was build/rebuild to Mk.II. Twin hotspur was only a prototype and constructed before horsa to solve capacity problem.

Horsa
main british gilder. Real diference before versions was in opening of rear fuselage when vehicle was unpacked. But I add two peoples less capacity for early horsa which also propably all will be used during landing in 1944 and then MkII version will be only avaiable.

Hamilcar
Just a new icon and capacity of 40 persons if he don't transport tank.

Hengist

Was a backup project for Horsa just 18 ever build and never used in combat. Is very likely that they were used together with hotspur's in training.

Hadrian
that is just american CG-4A used in Normandy by british para.

//USA

There were many prototypes which wasn't accepted for mass production there WACO was a winner.

XCG-16
wasn't accepted because even with great capacity of 40 peoples can't take vehicles reason of that was strenge construction.

XCG-14
wasn't accepted because was just like CG-4A

XCG-14A
lose competition to CG-10A

XCG-17
DC-3 without engines intended rather for transport than assalut landing

XCG-5 to XCG-7
lose competition with CG-3A

CG-3A
first american mass manufactured gilder used only for training but like hotspur can be there for what-if scenerios.Around 100 build

CG-4A
build in big number can take 13 peoples on board 13909 airframes build

CG-15A
intended to be smaller than CG-4A but with many thigs improved like capacity. 427 airframes build.

CG-13A
Build in 132 number can take small truck. American heavy gilder which was scaled in size construction of CG4A

CG-10A
Heavy gilder which was build only in 10 airframes. His production was halted because war was ended but was a main gilder which was indended to be used agains Japan 1946. In such case of what-if scenerio his role will be like hamilcar land with trucks or small tanks.

Horsa
American use them during liberation of europe in cases when CG-4A was to small to transport some vehicles.

//USMC

US navy has their own gilder program but they never goes to mass production only prototypes. 1945 they abondon their gilder program completly.

XLRN-1
was a heavy transport gilder like CG-10A but was really big can take 80 peoples like german Me-232

XLRQ-1 and XLRA-1
both small gilders but as a fly boats so they can land on water. I'm not certain that this can be simulated by game that they will not sink after landing. BTW build only as a prototypes.

//Germany

DFS230
Main german gilder which can carry 9 peoples. 1477 build

Go-242
Can take also vehicle and is used in late war. 1528 build

Me 321A1 Gigant & Me 321B1 Gigant
in game terms difference is only in crew number. They were build to be used against England and that may be their main usage in what if scenerios. In real history were used in transport duties but once during operation Barbarossa 1941 were in their intended role. As a assault gilders were used during invasion of estonians islands. Of course if will be added to OOB has camo to be used in any theatre in fictionals scenerios. But still best employment of them will be unpacing of whole panzer company somwhere on english countrside. 200 build

Ka-430
Build close to end of war as a replacement for DFS only 12 was build before end. Never used in combat

DFS 230 V-7
Prototype build as a proof that small DFS230 can carry more soliders and be the same size.

Ju 322 Mammut
lose competition with Me321 but will be nice to have them in more fictional scenerio agains england. In reality even prototype never fly has some construction fault.

DFS 331
Biger gilder equivalent to CG-4A never manufactured

Go-345
Was intended in two versions A as a asalut gilder and B as a transport also never went to production.

//Japan

Ku-1
That was a gilder used moustly in training like hotspur with small capacity but was avaiable quite early 1941 so can be used in what if scenerios for cary eight soliders. Around 100 was build

Ku-8
Can transport 18 soliderso or light gun and was main asault gilder of japan during war. 700 airframes was build

Ku.11
Build in small number 11 airframes was intended to be a medium military gilder/

MXY-5
Ordered by navy but can't land on water ike americans navy gilders. Only 12 build intended for miliary operations like german DFS was employed.

Ku-7 Manzuru
Only heavy gilder in Japan military his production of first series was halted by end of war so in what-if scenerios 1946 may be aviable in bigger number than around <10 produced. Was rebuild also on transport aircraft with engines. Can transport 32 soliders 75mm gun with schleper or light tank.

Ku-6
Was a fly tank like soviet A-40 but special tank Ku-Ro-Sa (black tank) was build. There is the same problem if will be added to OOB is necesary to hardcoding swithing of icon after landing. But of course only one was build as prototype.

//Italy

TM 2

was a heavy gilder build in northern italy so in what-if can be used by Salo republic forces. only 2 airfremes build

Ambrosini also know as Lombarda AL-12P

12 airframes build only gilder used by italians propably only for training.

// Turkey

THK-1
Only one prototype build because was intrest in that subject after crete invasion. Meaby because Turkey is not existing in game can be added to one of generic Blue/Green/Red OOBs

// Australia

EG1 & G2
Both build in small number of 5 airframes used in mainlad australia for training when mass production wasn't necessary because leand-lase americans gilders.

// India

G-1
Only prototype build and wsn't sucesfully so newer went into production. They recive CG-4A from american instead.

//Sweden

LG5 also know as Fi-3. Small asault gilder build only in 5 airframes and use by army in exercises.
