Poland had no marines as such, but in interwar*
period there were created two Marine Rifle*
Battalions, being infantry units deployed*
and trained to defend Polish coast.*
During mobilization, they were expanded to two*
Marine Rifle Regiments (1 and 2 Morski Pulk*
Strzelcow).*

They fought near Gdynia from 1 to 19 September 1939,*
being a core of Polish coast defence, with a last*
stand at Kepa Oksywska.*
