_____________Renault R-35*
*
Number in service: 50*
*
Fifty Renault R-35 light infantry tanks were bought*
in France just before the war. They arrived in July*
1939.*
*
45 tanks formed the 21st Light Tank Battalion in*
Luck (Lutsk), assigned to C-in-C reserve.*
Unfortunately, this unit did not fight eventually*
(in spite of plans to subordinate it to the 10th*
Motorized Cavalry Brigade fighting near Lviv),*
but was evacuated to Romania, by higher command*
orders.*
*
Only four of remaining R-35s were used in combat in*
an improvised half-company of Dubno Group (along*
with three H-39 tanks), commanded by Lt. Jakubowski.*
They fought against both Germans and the Soviets*
near Kamionka Strumilowa in late September 1939.*
