_________Vickers Mk. E Type A*
*
Number in service: 16*
*
In 1932 Poland bought 38 British Vickers Mark E*
(Six-ton) light tanks. Initially all tanks were*
twin-turret (Type or Alternative A), but 22 tanks*
were next converted to a single-turret Type B.*
*
This unit represents final armament configuration*
of twin-turret tanks. After some armament changes,*
by 1936 they were fitted with two water-cooled*
7.92 mm wz.30 (Browning) MGs.*
*
In 1939 all Vickers E tanks were used in two light*
tank companies of Polish two motorized brigades*
(the 10th Motorized Cavalry Brigade and the Warsaw*
Armoured-Motorized Brigade - WBPM). Both companies*
were intensively used in fighting. Each company had*
16 tanks, mostly single-turret, but twin-turret were*
used as well (at least in the WBPM, fighting at*
Tomaszow Lubelski).*
