The Austin-Kegresse was a variant of Austin-Putilov*
armoured car, built in Russia in 1919 upon British*
Austin chassis, with Kegresse half-track mechanism,*
improving its off-road capabilities. Armament was *
two Maxim machine guns in two diagonal turrets.*
Only 12 vehicles were made.*
*
Poland captured two Austin-Kegresse armoured cars*
during Polish-Soviet war 1919-1920, and used them*
until early 1930s. They were also known as *
"half-tanks". One remained as a monument in Modlin*
fortress until 1939 (sadly, noone thought about*
refurbishing it during September Campaign).*
