The wz. 29 (1929 Pattern) Ursus armoured car was*
a heavier type of Polish armored car. 10 were built*
in 1929-1931 upon strengthened Ursus A truck*
chassis.*
*
Despite advantages like relatively strong armament*
and sufficient armor, the car had low speed and no*
off-road capabilities (4x2 drive).*
Also the weapons and their arrangement soon became*
obsolete (low-velocity 37 mm SA.18 gun and*
7.92mm MG, mounted at 120-degree angle in different*
turret sides, manned by one man, and 7.92mm MG in a*
rear plate, next to rear driver's post). They were*
initially fitted also with a turret AAMG, but they*
were removed as ineffective.*
*
In 1939 eight cars formed the armoured car squadron*
of the 11th Armored Detachment of Mazowiecka Cavalry*
Brigade. The combat record of those few obsolete *
machines was surprisingly successful, and they*
destroyed at least 7 enemy AFVs. *
