27 of 220mm wz.32 Skoda heavy mortars were bought in*
1933-1935 in Czechoslovakia. Their purpose was to*
fight German fortifications, for which they were*
never used. The mortars were bulky, transported in*
three pieces (towed by C7P tractors), *
and their practical usefulness, apart from parades,*
was low.*
*
They served in the 1st Heaviest Artillery Regiment.*
During the war, it created three Heaviest Artillery*
Detachments (No. 11, 12, 13). Only the 11th *
Detachment fired their guns in anger, against German*
troops at Tomaszow Lubelski, causing rather*
psychological then real effect, due to lack of *
HE ammo, which was only scheduled for production.*
