Renault/AMX R-40 light infantry tanks were used by*
elements of Polish 10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade*
of Col. Maczek, organized in France in 1940.*
*
Unfortunately, the brigade received tanks too late,*
so it entered combat with only 1st tank battalion,*
equipped with R-35 tanks.*
*
The 2nd battalion was given R-40 tanks in June*
and divided by three companies, which acted alone,*
supporting French units in defence.*
All tanks were of newest production, armed with long*
37mm SA.38 L/33 guns.*
