In Western Europe there was the 1st Armoured Division, commanded by Gen. Maczek, equipped first with Sherman V tanks, replaced since November 1944 by Sherman IIA. It entered combat in France (Falaise, Chambois), liberating parts of Belgium and the Netherlands, to Germany (Wilhelmshaven).*

In Italy there was the 2nd Armoured Brigade, equipped mainly with Sherman III tanks, fighting among others, at Monte Cassino and Bologna. In June 1945 it was reformed to the 2nd Armoured Division.*
