Poland had no regular parachute units before 1939, although there were experiments carried out and groups of soldiers were trained.*
*
Individual troops underwent parachute training from late 1920s. In 1937 there was demonstrated an airdrop of 60 jumpers, and a military parachute course was opened.*
During manouevres in 1938, 20-men sabotage group was first airdropped, but usage of paratroops remained only experimental in interwar period.*
*
Only in May 1939 there was created a military parachuting centre, and further groups were trained, but no parachute units could be formed before the war's outbreak in September. As a result, there were no combat air drops in 1939. *
*
Other problem was lack of suitable aircraft, since there were only a handful of slow Fokker F-VIIm3, carrying only 10 men.*
