"Widening the gap"*
26th March, 1943*
6th Battailon, 2nd NZ Division*
Tebaga Gap, Tunisia*
*
*
As darkness approaches, it becomes clear that the Tebaga gap has been breached. It is far from secure though: The Germans and Italians still hold the surrounding hills and have a
commanding view of the battlefield. We have been tasked with clearing them out as quickly as possible, while 1st Armored Division is getting ready for their nightly move to El Hamma.
Tanks from 8th Armoured Brigade are in support. Due to the light fading quickly, our air support is not as extensive as before, so we will have to rely on artillery and infantry more.
*
*
Intelligence: Remnants of German and Italian forces are dug in on the hills around the gap. They are supported by artillery and some tanks might have withdrawn into the hills as well. There might still be sporadic minefields.
*
*
Objectives: Seize the hills and destroy any German or Italian artillery you can find. If you manage to achieve a decisive victory, you will have been more succesful than the actual operation and will go on to fight a "what-if" mission. *
