Scenario 6
"Arctic Ocean Highway"*
18th October, 1944*
114th Rifle Division*
On the road to the Norwegian Border*
*
*
After the battle at Luostari you had some time to reorganize and refit your forces, while the rest of our corps advanced to Petsamo and took this important town. Now the second part of the offensive has begun, this time aimed at the Norwegian port of Kirkenes. In order to reach this objective we need to advance westwards on the arctic ocean highway and cross the Pasvik river.
*
*
Your battalion was switched to the spearhead of our advance. Three heavy tanks from the 73rd Seperate Guards Heavy Tank Regiment have been attached to your force, as well as a spotter for our divisional artillery. Due to the heavily broken up and snowed in terrain, using the tanks offroad will be quite challenging. The Germans will use this fact to defend against your tanks and prepare ambushes.
*
*
Intelligence: Instead of the 2nd Gebirgsjaeger Division, this part of the highway is defended by the 307th Infanterie Regiment. They prepared several ambush positions and road blocks in order to delay your advance.
*
*
Objectives: Push through the German ambushes and advance to the Pasvik River. You will not receive significant reinforcements after this point.*
