Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for
a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.

(2) Lae'nial (enter): 11:06
(1) Jack Simth: Greetings.
(2) Lae'nial: Hello.
(2) Narf: Decided I'd wait here too. *Shrug*
(1) Jack Simth: Well, I'll be in and out for a while.
(1) Jack Simth: Also checking the boards every now and again.
(2) Narf: Yep
(3) Kibin (enter): 11:49
(3) Kibin: ah, you're already on openRPG :P
(3) Kibin: hmmm
(2) Narf (exit): 11:51
(1) Jack Simth: Greetings. Hmm.....
(1) Jack Simth: Well, seems Narf timed out.
(3) Kibin: hmmm
(3) Kibin: narfs computers in the shop still, isn't he? : (
(1) Jack Simth: His computer is, yes; however, he was on earlier - I'm showing him having exited at 11:51 am on my screen just a few lines up - so it would seem he covinced someone to let him install OpenRPG on their machine and use it.
(3) Kibin: ah
(3) Kibin: so, about YOUR campain...
(1) Jack Simth: Currently, Derrel and Jason are hunting down a Sorceror who had been summoning demons to go steal stuff from a highly magical town. The compromised his origninal base of operations, and since then he has been dropping demons on them nightly.
(3) Kibin: so what happened to it?
(1) Jack Simth: The deomon, the town, the base?
(1) Jack Simth: Gah! Ay kant spel!
(3) Kibin: lol, i mean why'd it stop
(1) Jack Simth: They run in paralell, mine mostly as a backup. It's not so much stopped as on hold whenever Narf's runs.
(3) Kibin: ah
(3) Kibin: i could edit my character for it :P
** (3) Kibin likes his kobold character. **
(1) Jack Simth: That would work. We are up to ECL 12.
(3) Kibin: so bump my character up to level 12, right?
(1) Jack Simth: Pretty much; kobolds have a LA of +0, if I recall correctly.
(3) Kibin: yup
(3) Kibin: which is cool : )
(3) Kibin: what about armor and stuff?
(3) Kibin: and attributes?
(3) Kibin: ah here we go, 3 bonus points, sweet
(3) Kibin: one extra class ability...
(3) Kibin: do attacks of oppertunity count as sneak attacks?
(1) Jack Simth: 86k gp worth of equipment, we've been rolling (4d6 drop lowest, arranged as pleased); not without a feat or some standard reason why (such as flanking)
(3) Kibin: okay :P
(3) Kibin: i'm probally going to choose oppertunitst
(3) Kibin: whenever someone gets hit by an ally, I get a free attack of oppertunity
(3) Kibin: and i'm probally spelling it wrong, huh?
(1) Jack Simth: Where's it from?
(3) Kibin: only rouges can take it
(1) Jack Simth: Ah, there it is - under the rogue's special abilities. Sure.
(3) Kibin: improved feint = free sneak attacks :D
(3) Kibin: well, almost free
(1) Jack Simth: .... but only once per round.
(1) Jack Simth: back in a few
(3) Kibin: true
(1) Jack Simth: Note that it also requires Combat expertise
(1) Jack Simth: ... and that, with a feat every 3 levels + 1 at first, you only get five of them, as a kobold.
(3) Kibin: :P
(1) Jack Simth: It's be 6 as a human, but you just can't pass up those nifty racials. Beware, though, the ECL 12 game is aboveground, and I will be enforcing the dazzled condition as I see fit.
(3) Kibin: meh :P
(1) Jack Simth: Yeah, most of it is countered by the small size, the rest by the racial bonuses. Still...
(1) Jack Simth: ... except for the spot penalty.
(3) Kibin: hey, i got really really high spot skills
(3) Kibin: 90 more skills O.o
(3) Kibin: 14 reflex save O.o
(3) Kibin: how much do I have to spend on items and stuff?
(1) Jack Simth: Let's go with 86,000 gp - standard starting wealth for 12th.
(1) Jack Simth: Sorry, that's 88,000
(1) Jack Simth: misread a character.
(3) Kibin: so i probally can have a cheap magic item
(3) Kibin: or a masterwork item
(1) Jack Simth: +5 Full Plate would only cost 26,650 gp.
(3) Kibin: hmmm
(3) Kibin: i could get a LUCK BLADE! :D
(3) Kibin: free wishes!@
(3) Kibin: of course, i'll leave it to you for wishes :P
(3) Kibin: redblade doesn't have armor :'(
(1) Jack Simth: You could get a 1 wish luck blade (62,360 gp) but not more than that.
(3) Kibin: full-plate is too heavy for my character, i lose almost all of my bonuses, i need light armor
(3) Kibin: chain-shirt armor would be better
(3) Kibin: hmmm
(3) Kibin: what does the material do?
(1) Jack Simth: Which material? A mithral breastplate counts as light, would cost 4,200 before enchantements, has an ACP of -1, and a Max Dex of 5.
(3) Kibin: i'm using LIGHT armor
(3) Kibin: since without light armor, i get a lot of penalties
(1) Jack Simth: Check The Special Materials List; mithral armor counts as one category lighter.
(3) Kibin: no evasion...
(3) Kibin: i can't open that link
(3) Kibin: +5 mithral armor is 26,000 gold...
(1) Jack Simth: Sort of; +5 armor is +25,000 gp; mithral is +1000 gp for armor that starts light, + 4000 gp for armor that starts medium, and +9000 gp for armor that starts heavy. However, one of mithral's nifties is that armor made from are lighter: "Most mithral armors are one category lighter than normal for purposes of movement and other limitations. Heavy armors are treated as medium, and medium armors are treated as light, but light armors are still treated as light"
(3) Kibin: oooo, mithral scoots down the type down one?
(1) Jack Simth: Yep.
(3) Kibin: so i could have a medium armor, and still use evasion?
(1) Jack Simth: Yep.
(3) Kibin: so i could have chain-mail, hmmm
(3) Kibin: a little under 3,000 coins
(3) Kibin: and i'll have +10 AC O.o
(1) Jack Simth: I'd suggest a Mithral Breastplate over Mithral Chain Mail - it's only 50 gp more, it's the same AC, it's got improved ACP and max dex by 1 point.
(3) Kibin: i've got +4 dexterity, can breastplate handle that?
(1) Jack Simth: A mithral breastplate would have max dex of +5. Yep.
(3) Kibin: okay :P
(3) Kibin: i'll have hope :)
(3) Kibin: now what does fortification do?
(1) Jack Simth: Cuts down on the probabiliy of critical hits and sneak attacks adding damage.
(3) Kibin: ah
(3) Kibin: i COULD get one armor special enchantment at mnormal level
(3) Kibin: cool, i only get -1 armor check penalty
(4) Narf (enter): 12:41
(4) Narf: Much better.
(1) Jack Simth: Any idea what went wrong?
(4) Narf: Shouldn't it tell me if it logs off?
(4) Narf: Nope, none.
(3) Kibin: hey
(3) Kibin: we're going to play jack's campain...
(1) Jack Simth: It should. Things don't always do what they should, however. Especially if it's a matter of an error....
(3) Kibin: making a really cool kobold character for it : )
(3) Kibin: mithril breastplate with a magic sword of subtlety
(4) Narf: Jack: Can you send my character over? Thanks.
(1) Jack Simth: I only had a level 11 copy, however.
(3) Kibin: btw. my armors weight will be half of what it says, since kobolds are small
(4) Narf: Well, I imagine I can get by with that, for now.
(3) Kibin: what does glamered mean?
(1) Jack Simth: And half again, due to the Mithral's special ability.
(4) Narf: (I was logging off on occasion in Randall's game - Forgot about that, though)
(1) Jack Simth: Basically, Glammered means that the armor can pretend to be a normal set of clothing.
(3) Kibin: sweet
(3) Kibin: so it's like armor, but hidden?
(3) Kibin: i want to get it just because that's so cool :D
(1) Jack Simth: It's an illusion. It doesn't make any mechanical differences. You still suffer the Max Dex and ACP of the armor (and still get the AC).
(3) Kibin: yeah, but it's still cool
(1) Jack Simth: Granted.
(3) Kibin: they'd think i won't have any armor at all...
(3) Kibin: what does glamered with shadow do?
(1) Jack Simth: No particular interaction. Both have their normal mechanical effect + (to hide, looks like clothing)
(1) Jack Simth: You thinking of going the invisible route?
(3) Kibin: maybe :P
(3) Kibin: i may just get the move silently instead, makes more sense
(3) Kibin: i could just get a resistance
(1) Jack Simth: Well, tell me when you've decided, send the character sheet over, and I'll check it for errors.
(3) Kibin: okay
(4) Narf: (Listen can spot invisible - Anything that dampens sound)
(4) Narf: * ?
(1) Jack Simth: Invisible can also mean "really, really hard to spot" - a listen check is opposed by Move Silently, and can be used to locate someone who is truely invisible by beating the invisible character's move silently roll by 20 points.
(1) Jack Simth: But a character with, say, Greater Silent Moves, Greater Shadow, 15 ranks in Hide and Move Silently, and ACP of -1, and a dex modifier of +4 has a total modifer of +33 on the move silently/hide rolls - with an extra +4 if small for +37. If such a character rolls a 1, the DC to spot him is 38.
(4) Narf: (Hmm, yes, it would seem redundant. And already covered, too)
(3) Kibin: lol
(1) Jack Simth: Compared to someone who is "merely" invisible, who has a spot DC of 40 to pinpoint him if he is active.
(3) Kibin: what's the difference between pp and gp?
(1) Jack Simth: 1 Platinum Piece = 10 Gold Pieces.
(3) Kibin: ah
(3) Kibin: so i have 5,000 left
(3) Kibin: i now have a +3 shocking burst sword
(1) Jack Simth: Shocking Burst is +2 equivalent, +3 base makes that a +5 costed weapon, as a weapon, that puts it at 50,000 gp for enchantements alone.
(3) Kibin: OR, i could have a +4 keen sword
(3) Kibin: choices...
(1) Jack Simth: As a small character, your weapon damage is down a size category below standard. Keen merely doubles standard damage on a critical hit, while Shocking (or Shocking burst) add damage.
(3) Kibin: okay, i'll just use shocking then, NOT shocking burst
(3) Kibin: about the command, is it a spoken command, or done by mind alone?
(1) Jack Simth: Command Word. Spoken, in a strong voice.
(1) Jack Simth: And it "crackles" with electricity.
(3) Kibin: so turn off if you want to be stealthy, gotcha
(1) Jack Simth: Yeah. An item producing noise and glowing with visible sparks makes it kinda hard to hide.
(3) Kibin: it's a free action to turn it on, right?
(1) Jack Simth: Activating a command word is a standard action.
(3) Kibin: oh
(3) Kibin: that other blade looks better now :P
(1) Jack Simth: You mean the Sword of Subtlety?
(3) Kibin: yup
(3) Kibin: cheap, gives me money for a few magic items
(3) Kibin: plus, it's so easy to get sneak attacks
(3) Kibin: so in 50% of situations, it's like a +5 short sword! :D
(1) Jack Simth: Let's see... +5 Mithral Breatplate would run 29,200 gp; a Sword of Subtlety runs 22,310 gp; that runs to ... 51510, leaving 36490 gp. If you want more AC with few penalties, you could go with a +5 Mithral Buckler for 26,015 gp.
(3) Kibin: sweet
(3) Kibin: um, i'm probally going to skip shields :P
(1) Jack Simth: Hmm.... the bonus is technically unnamed. I suppose, as written, it does stack with the weapon's +1 enchantement. Interesting.
(1) Jack Simth: Consider what that would do to your AC, though: +4 dex, +10 Armor, +6 Shield, +1 size, 10 base: AC 31.
(3) Kibin: yeah, but I think my character has some penalties to hit with shields
(3) Kibin: besides, i can get bracers of armor +5
(1) Jack Simth: Bracers of armor provide an armor bonus, which doesn't stack with armor. A funny thing - a Rogue is not proficient with Shields. However, the penalty for being non-proficient with shields is that you apply the ACP to all skill checks. A mithral buckler has an ACP of 0, and can thus be used freely even without proficiency.
(3) Kibin: :(
(1) Jack Simth: Did you read the second portion of that?
(3) Kibin: yes...
(3) Kibin: i could just get a ring of invisibility
(1) Jack Simth: Yeah. But it's a command word item (speak in a strong voice) that duplicates the spell (which lasts 3 minutes with the listed item's caster level of 3)
(4) Narf: (You can get an item made at a higher caster level, if I remember right)
(1) Jack Simth: For a commisureate increase in the expense. Magic item prices are mostly based on Caster Level * Spell Level. Doubling the caster level (to a 6 minute duration) also doubles the price (to 40,000 gp)
(3) Kibin: gloves of dexterity +4? gives me other cool bonuses :)
(3) Kibin: btw, the character generator i'm using doesn't have bucklers that I can find
(3) Kibin: is it the same as a small metal shield?
(1) Jack Simth: Would. Of course, that would also up your Dex bonus to +6 - with a max dex of +5 on a Mithral Breastplate. If you drop that down to a Mithral Chain Shirt, the Armor AC goes down by 1, but you can then get full benefit from the Dex, evening things out, AC-wise.
(3) Kibin: okay, so how about gloves of dexterity +4, with a mithral chain shirt?
(1) Jack Simth: Similar. Main difference being that a Buckler leaves the hand available without first removing the shield.
(3) Kibin: as an advantage, i'll be able to get a lot more enchantments :D
(1) Jack Simth: Gloves: 16,000 gp; Mithral Chain Shirt (+5?) 1,100 (26,100 gp?)
(3) Kibin: +5 glamered mithral chainshirt is about half as much as a breastplate
(3) Kibin: 28800, it says here
(3) Kibin: so, i got more money to spend O.o
(1) Jack Simth: The price difference is the Glammered ability - +2,700 gp
(3) Kibin: yup
(3) Kibin: glamered is cool, which is why i'm getting it
(4) Narf: My poor character, lost among these munchkins...:D
(1) Jack Simth: Good reason.
(1) Jack Simth: He's small. He has a penalty to Strength. Can you guess what that does to his Grapple check?
(3) Kibin: reduces it :P
(3) Kibin: okay, is this a hint to get slick armor?
(1) Jack Simth: By a fair chunk. Small puts a -4 penalty on grapple checks, grapple checks are modified by Strength.
(3) Kibin: meh
(3) Kibin: lets hope i don't get grappled then :P
(3) Kibin: or can i just use escape artist to get out, hmmm
(1) Jack Simth: That would be one way of getting around it, as would max ranks in Escape Artist. However, getting out of a grapple is a standard action, and so you wouldn't be able to hurt anyone the turn you escape.
(3) Kibin: EXCEPT from the free attack you get from them starting the grapple
(1) Jack Simth: As a rogue, you actually do better getting someone else to grapple your target, and then making full attacks on them - grappling denies Dex against anyone not in the grapple, which gives a rogue lovely sneak attack possiblities.
(3) Kibin: hehe
(1) Jack Simth: Note that Jason (a character I run in the ECL 12) has Telekenisis as a Su ability, which can grapple....
(3) Kibin: full attacks let you use movement for attack, right?
(4) Narf: Munchins. Doesn't your character have a ranged grapple spell, Jack?...
(1) Jack Simth: No. Sorry; A full Attack is a full-round action. You can 5-ft step, but no more than that.
(1) Jack Simth: Or did I misinterpert the question?
(3) Kibin: so what do full attacks do exactly? :S
(3) Kibin: i'm asking what does a full attack do
(3) Kibin: i know that it removes the movement phase
(3) Kibin: but i'm wondering why
(1) Jack Simth: Consumes both move action and standard action to get multiple attacks in a round, based on BAB; a 12th level paladin gets three iterative attacks with a full attack - one at +12, one at +7, and one at +2. A 12th level rogue would get two - one at +9. one at +4. A regular attack (standard action) merely gets a single attack roll at highest BAB (12 for the paladin, 9 for the rogue)
(3) Kibin: i have a BAB of 9/4, according to this
(3) Kibin: so that would be 3 attacks for a full round?
(1) Jack Simth: Two attacks. 9/4, unless you had something that changed it - two weapon fighting, flurry of blows, haste effect, secondary natural attacks, sword of swiftness, et cetera.
(3) Kibin: ah
(3) Kibin: what to spend the rest of my cash on
(3) Kibin: i got about 54,000 left
(4) Narf: (Healing potions?)
(1) Jack Simth: You may want a few rations, an extra set of clothing, perhaps a few utility items - such as a wand of Cure X wounds (if you took Use Magic Device) - or some level of Ring of Spell Storing (for Cure spells form Derrel that you can use in combat, or spells fomr Jason)
(3) Kibin: well, i'm getting a new weapon since i ghave all of that :P
(3) Kibin: an enchanted wounding blade?
(1) Jack Simth: Can be quite devastating against anything you can sneak attack.
(3) Kibin: so i hit it, it's constitution and hit points are lowered?
(3) Kibin: btw, don't need clothing, i got mithril armor :P
(3) Kibin: no skill penalty :D
(3) Kibin: and... it can disguise itself as clothing!
(1) Jack Simth: It does 1 point of Con damage on a successfull hit; two hits reduce the Con bonus by 1, which sucks 1 HP per HD out of the creature.
(1) Jack Simth: Note that it doesn't affect anything not subject to critical hits.
(3) Kibin: yeah, but it's got an enchantment LO
(3) Kibin: :P*
(3) Kibin: +3, ooo
(1) Jack Simth: ... for a net +5 cost at 50,000 gp.
(3) Kibin: okay, i have a bedroll, and 10 days of rations, with a backpack of course
(3) Kibin: now the healing potions...
(1) Jack Simth: Let's see if I have the current list about right: +3 Wounding Shortsword (?) 50,310 gp; +5 Mithral Chain Shirt (26,100 gp); backpack 2 gp, 10 days rations 5 gp, bedroll 1 sp?
(1) Jack Simth: Forgot the glammered + 2700 gp.
(3) Kibin: changed back to the sword of subtlety again, more stuff for your buck
(3) Kibin: the rest is correct
(3) Kibin: i could improve my armor
(1) Jack Simth: So Sword of Subtlety 22,310, +5 Glammered Mithral Chain Shirt 28,800, Backpack 2 gp, Food 5 gp, bedroll 1 sp = 51,117.1 gp spent.
(3) Kibin: yup, think so
(3) Kibin: ah, i'll keep a bit of spending cash
(1) Jack Simth: 36882.9 gp remaining.
(1) Jack Simth: Are you going to go with the +4 Gauntlets of Dexterity? (16,000 gp)
(3) Kibin: nah, doesn't seem to increase AC any
(3) Kibin: AC is already at 25
(1) Jack Simth: You have, what, a base Dex mod of +4? The Chain Shirt has a max dex of +6, and dex adds to AC. It would up the AC to 27.
(4) Narf: Yes, but if you went with Weapon Finesse it would increase attack. It also helps some skills.
(3) Kibin: meh :P
(3) Kibin: 17,000 left over
(3) Kibin: how about an amulet of natural armor?
(3) Kibin: or an amulet of health
(1) Jack Simth: That stacks with regular armor.
(1) Jack Simth: That boosts con, If I recall.
(3) Kibin: hmmm
(1) Jack Simth: As would a ring of protection (which, as a deflection bonus, also applies to touch attacks)
(3) Kibin: how about a ring of force shield to even out?
(3) Kibin: acts like a shield, can be turned on and off at will
(1) Jack Simth: +2 shield ac? Sure.
(1) Jack Simth: Free action, even.
(3) Kibin: that's odd, only +4 from armor
(3) Kibin: +4 from dex :S
(3) Kibin: i think the AC is off
(3) Kibin: ah well
(3) Kibin: how to send my character sheet to you?
(1) Jack Simth: The +5 enchantment on armor qualifies as an armor bonus; +4 from the chain, +5 from the enchantment, +4 from dex, +1 form size, +2 from Ring of Shielding, 10 base = 26
(3) Kibin: oh, it's supposed to be 26
(3) Kibin: okay :S
(1) Jack Simth: Assuming you put it into OpenRPG already, you can just right-click it and use "send to player" with player ID 1
(3) Kibin: touch AC is 20, flatfooted AC is 22
(3) Kibin: i'm using redplade
(1) Jack Simth: That makes it harder. Can it output XML?
(3) Kibin: redblade*
(3) Kibin: no, i don't think so
(3) Kibin: it exports as an HTML file
(3) Kibin: why do I have two BABs? :S
(1) Jack Simth: Well, you can attach it on the forums and I can download it from there.
(3) Kibin: is 26 AC high?
(1) Jack Simth: As to your touch AC ... the +5 on the armour doesn't apply to touch ac. With what I remember you as having picked, you have a touch ac of 15 (+4 dex, +1 size) unless you picked up something I didn't catch yet.
(3) Kibin: um, the force shield i think
(1) Jack Simth: Force Shield gives a shield bonus - which doens't apply to touch.
(1) Jack Simth: AC 26 means that an 18-str fighter 12 with a mundane weapon needs a 10 to hit you.
(3) Kibin: oh wait, natural armor
(1) Jack Simth: Natural armor doesn't apply to touch, either.
(3) Kibin: also a misc armor bonus from some place
(3) Kibin: oh wait, that one modifier may be from magical enchantment
(3) Kibin: okay, it's up
(3) Kibin: http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/download.php?Number=374827
(3) Kibin: my uber kobold :P
(3) Kibin: +21 to move silently :D
(3) Kibin: everything look good?
(3) Kibin: the mithril armor should be half the listed weight, due to my smallness
(3) Kibin: hmmm
(3) Kibin: i'd probally have to drop my backpack to use evasion
(1) Jack Simth: Let's see.... the Misc is actually the enchantment bonus on your armor, and goes under the Armor bonus (which should thus be +9); you didn't include the increase from the Gauntlets of Dexterity on your Dex modifier to AC; Mithral should be 1/4 listed weight - smallness + Mithral reduction; other items should be 1/2 listed weight; with Int 14 you get two bonus languages + automatic, and I only see three listed (common, undercommon, draconic)
(1) Jack Simth: Touch AC is off - should be 15, not 20.
(1) Jack Simth: Sorry, 17; you have a +6 dex mod, +1 size.
(1) Jack Simth: Base land speed is 30 ft, not 0.
(1) Jack Simth: Crossbow shows up in the description, but not under possessions.
(3) Kibin: the character generator did it all for me
(3) Kibin: hehe whoops
(3) Kibin: just forgot the crossbow thingie then :p
(3) Kibin: you could probally edit the HYML file to change that stuff :P
(1) Jack Simth: Otherwise, nothing jumps out at me.
(3) Kibin: i didn't add a fourth language :P
(1) Jack Simth: You do, however, appear to have spent the skill points on it.
(3) Kibin: :P
(3) Kibin: can you adjust for all that?
(1) Jack Simth: Can I? Yes. Easily? No.
(3) Kibin: i'll just edit it x.x
(3) Kibin: okay, what to adjust?
(1) Jack Simth: Oh, nevermind; I found an easier way to edit it than working with the raw HTML code. You will want to go back and change the language issue at some point, but for now, it's playable.
(3) Kibin: what did you do?
(1) Jack Simth: AC stuff, weight stuff.
(3) Kibin: i can easily shift stuff around
(3) Kibin: +2 to dexterity, move misc to armor?
(1) Jack Simth: Yep.
(3) Kibin: ac + 2?
(1) Jack Simth: Overall ac +2, no change to flat-footed ac, touch ac +2
(3) Kibin: can there be a fractional weight?
(1) Jack Simth: well, after the -5 for pulling the misc to armor
(1) Jack Simth: sure.
(3) Kibin: and everything else is halfed?
(1) Jack Simth: For the weapons, yes; other items are 1/4 (half twice for the armor, rest are defined as 1/4th for small characters)
(3) Kibin: ah
(3) Kibin: backpack .5 of a pound?
(3) Kibin: rations 2.5, sword 1 pound, bedroll 1.25 pounds, armor 6.25 pounds
(1) Jack Simth: It doesn't have much volume; fortunately, you don't have much to put in it.
(3) Kibin: now, about the skills, what do I get if i don't get another language? do i get bonus skill points?
(1) Jack Simth: You get back the two skill points you spent on the language. I wouldn't exactly call those bonus skill points.
(3) Kibin: i didn't spend anything, it just came
(1) Jack Simth: Fair enough, then.
(3) Kibin: okay, so 28 AC, 17 touch, 22 flat-footed
(1) Jack Simth: About ready?
(1) Jack Simth: Naf?
(1) Jack Simth: Narf?
(1) Jack Simth: Hello?
(1) Jack Simth: Anybody?
(1) Jack Simth: Ping?
(3) Kibin: i'm still here
(4) Narf: I'm still here.
(4) Narf: Mostly.
(3) Kibin: okay, i edited my post, my NEW combat sheet is there
(3) Kibin: how will I meet with the group?
(4) Narf: I can't think of anything better than 'Oh look. He looks like a PC. Maybe he should join us.'
(3) Kibin: lol
(1) Jack Simth: I was thinking more along the lines of another carry-on from one of the demons - he got stranded on another plane, stuffed in a sack by a demon (so he could be taken to the demon lord) and then got summoned up along with the demon when our current adversary summoned him. Then gets loose during the upcoming combat for the other failed will save.
(3) Kibin: yay :P
(3) Kibin: sacks! O.o
(3) Kibin: wait, how did i get stranded on that other plane
(1) Jack Simth: Scroll mishap.
(4) Narf: Fell through a plot hole! :D
(1) Jack Simth: So....
(3) Kibin: me ready to start
(3) Kibin: shouldn't we pop on over to the cheese room?
** (4) Derrel is ready to start **
(1) Jack Simth: Good idea.

** (1) Jack Simth found the F3 macro key **
(3) Kibin (enter): 14:52
(3) Kibin: (Game on!)
(1) GM: Jason and Derrel: the next night, you hear a sudden crunching in the bushes behind you.
(1) GM: And spy....
(1) GM: A very large demon!
(1) GM: Carrying a sack.
(1) GM: Roll for initiative.
(3) Kibin: (nice use of pictures :D)
(1) GM: Demon: [1d20] -> [19] = (19)
(3) Kibin: (i guess I'm out for now, till the sack is opened)
(1) GM: (You still have all your equipment - cut it!)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [14,4] = (18)
(4) Derrel: Dex check: [1d20+1] -> [11,1] = (12)
(3) Kibin: (oh yeah)
(3) Kibin: [1d20+6] -> [7,6] = (13)
(1) GM: Demon, Jason, Kibin, Derrel
(1) GM: The demon drops his sack, lunges at the paladin, and bites!
(1) GM: [1d20+14] -> [2,14] = (16)
(1) GM: Derrel, what's your AC?
(1) GM: Probably a tad more than that....
(4) Derrel: (29, I think)
(4) Derrel: (Or 28 or something)
(1) GM: The Demon's teeth scrape off the paladins's armor with a sound like nails on a chalkboard.
(1) GM: Jason: Let's see if we can't hold him....
(1) GM: Ghost Telekenesis: Manuvers: Standard Action, Concentration: Combat Manuvers (Disarm, Trip, Grapple (Pin), Bull Rush) 12 rounds; +12 for Base Attack, +10 for dex/str due to method), Wait: [1d4] -> [1] = (1)
(1) GM: Grapple attempt: touch attack:[1d20+22] -> [18,22] = (40)
(3) Kibin: (wow...)
(4) Derrel: (Jack is a master munchkin)
(1) GM: That's a hit. Opposed grapple check: [1d20+22] -> [5,22] = (27) vs. [1d20+19] -> [3,19] = (22)
(1) GM: Jason wins; Demon is now grappling a force he can't touch.
(1) GM: Kibin?
** (3) Kibin slices out of the sack with his short sword, dropping out of the burst sack to the ground with a soft thud. He then attacks his capturer with two attacks. (i think i can use a full attack...) **
(1) GM: (The sack is a cinematic tool - you were dropped off right next to him, and had already been working on the bag - sure, full attack)
(3) Kibin: (okay, so how many attacks?)
(3) Kibin: (and would he be flat-footed or not?)
(1) GM: (Two - one at BAB 9, one at BAB 4); demon is not flat footed, but is denied dex (not that his dex modifier is positive...) vs. you.
(1) GM: (Net bonuses would be +9/+4 +6(dex) +5 (weapon) +1 size = +21/+16)
(1) GM: (yes, you get sneak attack on both of those)
(3) Kibin: [Bad dice format] - [oh, that's for double attacks, i get it]
(3) Kibin: [1d20+21] -> [10,21] = (31)
(3) Kibin: [1d20+16] -> [15,16] = (31)
(1) GM: A hit. and a hit. No criticals. Roll damage.
(3) Kibin: (still kinda new to this :P)
(4) Derrel: (Everybody starts out new)
(1) GM: (That's fine; Sword rolls 1d3, +5 for weapon enhancements, -2 for str score, +6d6 for sneak attack)
(3) Kibin: [1d3+5-2+6d6] -> [3,5,-2,1,1,5,5,2,6] = (26)
(3) Kibin: [1d3+5-2+6d6] -> [3,5,-2,5,5,5,6,3,1] = (31)
(1) GM: (note that the 1d3 base rather than 1d6 base is due to the size issue)
(1) GM: The demon growls as your hits strike home.
(1) GM: Derrel?
(3) Kibin: (actually 1d4 :)
(4) Derrel: Longsword Attack 1 Attack Roll: [1d20+21] -> [4,21] = (25)===> DMG: [1d8+4+2] -> [6,4,2] = (12)
(4) Derrel: Longsword Attack 2 Attack Roll: [1d20+16] -> [18,16] = (34)===> DMG: [1d8+4+2] -> [1,4,2] = (7)
(4) Derrel: Longsword Attack 2 Attack Roll: [1d20+16] -> [2,16] = (18)===> DMG: [1d8+4+2] -> [4,4,2] = (10)
(4) Derrel: (Whackedy whackedy swoosh?)
(1) GM: Two hits, the demon seems to shrug off almost all your damage, and laughs at you.
(4) Derrel: (I keep forgetting about Smite Evil)
(1) GM: Jason: Let's go for a pin.
(1) GM: Demon's turn: escape grapple attempt.
(1) GM: Opposed grapple check: [1d20+22] -> [3,22] = (25) vs. [1d20+19] -> [20,19] = (39)
(3) Kibin: (doh, i should have gotten an attack of oppertunity there)
(1) GM: Demon wins, and escapes the grapple; roll your AoO.
(3) Kibin: [1d20+21] -> [9,21] = (30)
(3) Kibin: [1d4+5-2] -> [2,5,-2] = (5)
(3) Kibin: (rouge damage sucks without the 6d6 sneak attack bonus O.o)
(1) GM: The demon screams as you again cut him. (he was in the grapple at the time, so that was a sneak attack - re-roll damage accordingly.)
(3) Kibin: [1d4+5-2+6d6] -> [4,5,-2,4,1,2,4,2,1] = (21)
(1) GM: The demon uses it's two remaining attacks to claw at the pesky gnat at his feet.
(1) GM: [1d20+9] -> [12,9] = (21), [1d20+9] -> [4,9] = (13)
(1) GM: And the first just barely scratches the gnat's armor; the pesky gnat simply skips out of the way of the second.
(1) GM: Jason:
(1) GM: Grapple again.
(1) GM: Touch attack: [1d20+22] -> [1,22] = (23)
(1) GM: Touch attack succeeds. Grapple check?
(1) GM: [1d20+22] -> [18,22] = (40) vs. [1d20+19] -> [3,19] = (22)
(1) GM: Jason succeeds at the grapple check. The demon is again fighting off a phantom that he can't truely touch.
(3) Kibin: (did you really need to roll to see if it succeded? lol)
(1) GM: (Yes; the modifiers are +22 vs. +19 - a difference of only 3)
(1) GM: Kibin?
(3) Kibin: (and of course, it's sneak attack again because he's grappled?)
(1) GM: (Yep.)
** (3) Kibin does another two lightning-quick attacks at the demon, attempting to strike vital areas of the demon. **
(3) Kibin: [1d20+21] -> [2,21] = (23) [1d20+16] -> [16,16] = (32)
(1) GM: Two hits. Roll damage.
(3) Kibin: [1d4+3+6d6] -> [2,3,6,3,1,5,4,6] = (30) [1d4+3+6d6] -> [4,3,3,2,1,5,2,6] = (26)
(1) GM: The demon screams in agonized anger as you cut deep into a tendon.
(1) GM: Derrel?
(4) Derrel: "For HONER AND RIGHT!"
(4) Derrel: (Now what's the Smite Evil bonus again?)
(1) GM: ("a paladin may attempt to smite evil with one normal melee attack. She adds her Charisma bonus (if any) to her attack roll and deals 1 extra point of damage per paladin level. If the paladin accidentally smites a creature that is not evil, the smite has no effect, but the ability is still used up for that day.")
(4) Derrel: Longsword Attack 1 Attack Roll: [1d20+22] -> [7,22] = (29)===> DMG: [1d8+15+2] -> [8,15,2] = (25)
(4) Derrel: Longsword Attack 2 Attack Roll: [1d20+16] -> [16,16] = (32)===> DMG: [1d8+4+2] -> [4,4,2] = (10)
(4) Derrel: Longsword Attack 2 Attack Roll: [1d20+16] -> [6,16] = (22)===> DMG: [1d8+4+2] -> [1,4,2] = (7)
(3) Kibin: (and of course, i get an attack of opportunity)
(3) Kibin: (derrel has 2 longswords? O.o)
(1) GM: (your bonus scheduale is not quite right; probably my fault somewhere along the line; +22/+16/+11 should be about correct, assuming you smite on the first)
(1) GM: (and have a charisma mod of +1)
(3) Kibin: (so the third attack probally won't work)
(1) GM: Two Hits; the demon screams as your smite breaks through his defenses.
(4) Derrel: (No...Atack bonuses are always -5 less for the next one)
(4) Derrel: (Oh, right, never mind)
(1) GM: (smite adds to just one of the melee attacks)
(1) GM: Kibin - roll your AoO.
(1) GM: (and you might want to consider picking up Combat Reflexes at your next available feat)
(3) Kibin: Hit roll: [1d20+21] -> [15,21] = (36) Damage roll: [1d20+3+6d6] -> [4,3,1,5,2,5,5,4] = (29)
(4) Derrel: (Oh...Accidently clicked #2 twice)
(3) Kibin: (opportunist only allows one such AoO per round)
(1) GM: The demon screams as you find a vital area to puncture.
(1) GM: Demons Turn:
(3) Kibin: (even with combat reflexes :))
(1) GM: Attempt to break grapple:
(1) GM: [1d20+22] -> [2,22] = (24) vs. [1d20+19] -> [17,19] = (36)
(1) GM: Demon is loose, and uses it's remaining attacks to try to cut that pesky gnat in half!
(1) GM: [1d20+9] -> [5,9] = (14), [1d20+9] -> [7,9] = (16)
(1) GM: And finds that the pesky gnat continues to evade his grasp compeltely.
(1) GM: Jason:
(1) GM: Grapple again.
(1) GM: Touch attack: [1d20+22] -> [12,22] = (34)
(1) GM: Touch attack succeeds. Grapple check?
(1) GM: [1d20+22] -> [16,22] = (38) vs. [1d20+19] -> [15,19] = (34)
(1) GM: Grapple check succeeds. The demon is again fighting off a force beyond his ken.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(1) GM: Jason: Step around and flank! I can't hold him forever!
(3) Kibin: (can I step 5 feet to flank him, as a free action?)
(1) GM: (yep)
(1) GM: (flanking across with Derrel)
** (3) Kibin steps to flank the demon with Derrel, releasing another two lightning fast slashes to vital areas of the demon. **
(4) Derrel: (I wonder if there's a feat to extend the use of Smite Evil to a secondary attack)
(4) Derrel: * ?
(3) Kibin: Hit 1: [1d20+21] -> [3,21] = (24) Hit 2: [1d20+16] -> [6,16] = (22)
(1) GM: Two hits. Roll damage.
(3) Kibin: Damage 1: [1d4+3+6d6] -> [3,3,1,5,5,1,3,1] = (22) Damage 2: [1d4+3+6d6] -> [3,3,6,1,1,5,1,5] = (25)
(3) Kibin: (what does flanking bonus do? advantage for to-hit?)
(4) Derrel: (+2 to hit)
(3) Kibin: (k, just checking)
(4) Derrel: (And maybe no dex bonus, but I'm not sure)
(1) GM: (also permits sneak attacks) After the first blow, the demon crumbles to the ground, bleeding and breathing heavily. Continue second attack?
(3) Kibin: (i know there's no dex bonus, for most people anyway, hehehe)
(1) GM: (flanking does not deny dex bonus)
** (3) Kibin holds off his second attack, sword at the ready. **
(1) GM: In that case, unless Derrel want to hit him when he is down, combat is over.
** (4) Derrel does not attack again) **
(1) GM: Stabilization roll: [1d10] -> [7] = (7), 1 succeeds
(3) Kibin: (what race is derrel and jason?)
(1) GM: Jason's a Human ghost. Derrel's a human.
(1) GM: The demon bleeds some more, and moans pitifully.
(3) Kibin: (could you send me the trees if you have any?)
(1) GM: (Trees? The full stats listing?)
(3) Kibin: (just description if you don't want to send all the stats and stuff)
(3) Kibin: (mostly curious :P)
(1) GM: (well.. as to the descriptions.....)
(4) Derrel: (Derrel looks like a human paladin that's seen and survived a lot.
(1) GM: Kibin: You find yourself in a campsight by the road, at night. Your companions in arms are two people - one, a translucent man, floating a bit above the ground, in robes, in a traveler's outfit with a cloak and a backpack, a dagger at his belt.
(4) Derrel: (Much can be said about Derrel by the simple fact that he's traveling with an un-dead)
(1) GM: The other is a human in full plate armor, with a shield and longsword.
(3) Kibin: (an a paladin, gotcha)
(1) GM: A horse-drawn wagon and two horses are nearby. The wagon seems to be mostly filled with feed for the horses.
(4) Derrel: (Uh...Something came up. I have to go. Sorry.)
(1) GM: Stabilization roll: [1d10] -> [4] = (4), 1 succeeds
(3) Kibin: (noooooooooooooo :( )
(4) Derrel: (Just NPC Derrel)
(3) Kibin: (yay! :) )
(1) GM: (can do)
(4) Derrel: Disconnecting from server...
(4) Derrel (exit): 15:41
(3) Kibin: (i'll let the other two characters talk first)
(1) GM: Derrel: Greetings.
** (3) Kibin steps back from the demon to just beyond reach of his claws, letting the other two people talk to it. **
(1) GM: Stabilization roll: [1d10] -> [6] = (6), 1 succeeds
(1) GM: The demon moans pitiously and bleeds just a little more.
(1) GM: Derrel: Hmm... won't do to have it die before we can question it ... although I suspect I know who sent him.
(1) GM: Heal Skill Check: [1d20+6] -> [11,6] = (17)
(1) GM: GM: Derrel - you pass the Heal check, and the demon stabalizes at -7 HP.
(1) GM: Jason: So, who might you be?
** (3) Kibin takes this time to observe Jason and Derrel, taking into note their weapons and armor. **
(1) GM: Jason is rather pale, with a few cuts just barely visible under his chin, but otherwise quite attractive. He stands a short distance above the ground, not seeming to actually touch much of anything. He wears a traveler's outfit, a backpack, and has a rather attractive cloak on his back. There is a small pouch at his belt, as well as a dagger.
(1) GM: Derrel is a knight in full armor. Shining, masterwork Full Plate, a Large shield, and a longsword of exquisite craftsmanship can be plainly seen. He has a slight aura of holiness about him.
(1) GM: Derrel: Not feeling like conversation?
(1) GM: Also, Jason doesn't seem to be breathing.....
** (3) Kibin turns his eyes back on the demon, lowing his sword to his side, letting the other two talk. **
(1) GM: Derrel: Who sent you?
(1) GM: Demon: Some sorceror. Called me up from home while I was heading home to my master's with a tasty treat.
(1) GM: Jason: And why did you attack?
(1) GM: Demon: Couldn't get past that line on the floor without agreeing to do what he said. Heh. Can't now. No going home.
(1) GM: Demon: Well.... maybe in a few weeks ....
(3) Kibin: (continue :P)
(1) GM: Derrel: I don't suppose you know how to get back to his place?
(1) GM: Demon: No. He brought me here. I suppose I could pop back, once I've healed up a bit, but I can't tell you how to get there, much as I might wish to do so.
(1) GM: Jason, to Kibin: I don't suppose you were the "tasty treat" he was talking about, were you?
(1) GM: Demon: Master likes kobold stew.
(3) Kibin: (you read scrolls to use it's effects, right?)
(3) Kibin: (and you probally wouldn't know what it does till you read it)
(1) GM: (yep - although there are limits on what you can do with one - trying to use Use Magic Device untrained?)
(3) Kibin: (i don't have any scrolls, the one i read turned to dust :) )
** (3) Kibin shrugs. "Found a scroll, read the scroll, scooped up and placed in sack." **
(1) GM: Jason: Well, any reason to keep an unredeemably evil demon alive any longer?
(1) GM: Derrel: I can't think of any. Unless he can give us the name of his mysterious package.
(3) Kibin: Doesn't hurt to try, does it?
(1) GM: Jason: You mean other than the fact that, once he can move about, he can "pop back" anywhere he wants?
(1) GM: Derrel: By the way - stand ready in case he tries to cast something.
** (3) Kibin nods, stepping forward, sword at the ready to cut the demon down. **
(1) GM: Demon: Wait... don't kill me.... I can grant a mortal a wish....
(1) GM: Jason: Nah, he's lying. Bout time to get rid of him.
(3) Kibin: (jason is the ghost, right?)
(1) GM: (yep)
(3) Kibin: :looks up towards Jason. "We could take the chance.He knows that any one of us could easily end his life..."
(1) GM: For now. Demons have this nasty habit of escaping when you least expect it....
(1) GM: The demon, taking advantage of Kibin's momentary lapse in attention, teleports away.
(3) Kibin: (can't I make a reflex test?)
(1) GM: (Well, I took the "lapse in attention" when you specified the direction you were facing. And he's back to dying now; last ditch strenuous activity to get away to recouperate)
(1) GM: [3d10] -> [4,9,2] = (15)
(1) GM: (don't mind me....)
(1) GM: (just checking the demon's survival)
(1) GM: Jason: Well, looks like he escaped.
(3) Kibin: :sighs, looking at the spot where he once was. "Sorry... He probally won't live long, though."
(1) GM: Jumping away like that is rather strenuous; he will probably rip his wounds back open. If he stabalizes, he can recover. If not, someone will eventually be mighty concered about finding a dead demon somewhere. Hard to say.
(1) GM: (that was Jason speaking, by the way)
** (3) Kibin sighs, looking around. "Where am I?" **
(1) GM: Derrel: On the road between Emor and Chesterwark. We are hunting the sorceror that sent that beast to take us down.
(3) Kibin: (btw, my armor looks like clothing as in my description, if you want to know)
(1) GM: Jason: We have about another 25 miles or so to go tomorrow morning.
(3) Kibin: :nods. "Any chance I could help? It seems like I'm nowhere near where I was..."
(1) GM: Derrel: We can always use anothe sword in the fight against evil. Be warned, however, we have been attacked the last three nights running by such as he.
(1) GM: Jason
** (3) Kibin remembers he still has his short sword in his hand, and he puts the swordsword back on his right side. "I'm not worried. If all the demons are like that..." **
(1) GM: Jason: Although it would be good to know the name of those who would help us.
(1) GM: Derrel: They seem to be different every time.
(1) GM: Jason: I'm not concerend. Demons have no hold over me.
(3) Kibin: (can I wave my hand through jason's body?)
(3) Kibin: (i'm guessing, since he's a ghost...)
(1) GM: He's in range. You can try a touch attack to see if he's solid.
(1) GM: (BAB + size mod + Str or Dex, at your option)
(3) Kibin: (so 1d20+21, like with my short sword?)
(3) Kibin: (ah, wait, no sneak attack)
(3) Kibin: (1d20+16)
(1) GM: (no - 5 of that was from the sword (and 4 of that was only because you were making a sneak attack); your hand doesn't get that bonuses - it should be +16 - yep, you figured it out while I was typing)
(3) Kibin: [1d20+16] -> [5,16] = (21)
(1) GM: A strange, phantom force pushes your hand away from Jason's form before you can touch him.
** (3) Kibin tries to poke Jason, seeing if his finger would go through his body. **
(1) GM: Jason: Trying to see if you can touch me?
** (3) Kibin looks at Jason some more. "I guess if you're a ghost, demon's claws can't harm you..." **
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, I can be killed - it's just difficult. But it's happened before, and will happen again. Oh, and no ....
(1) GM: Jason steps down through the ground momentarily ...
(1) GM: Jason: You wouldn't have hit me even if you had hit me.
(1) GM: Jason: That sword of yours, however, might have had a chance.
(3) Kibin: :shrugs. "Just seeing if you were a ghost or not. And I guess the sword might have hit you, it's magical."
(3) Kibin: (derrel probally is feeling neglected over there)
(1) GM: Derrel: I'm just hoping that our adversary doesn't figure that out and start sending things equipped to deal with him.
(1) GM: Jason: Well, I need to rest up to replenish my spells, and Derrel isn't fully recovered from last night's attack. What is your name?
(3) Kibin: (btw, good use of gnat to describe me :) )
(1) GM: (large demon, small PC.....)
** (3) Kibin sits down on the ground, feeling he can trust these people. "My name is Kibin. Yours?" **
(1) GM: Derrel: My name is Derrel, and my lfe-force challenged aquaintence is Jason.
(1) GM: Jason: Well, I'm about ready to turn in for the night. Someone else can keep watch.
(1) GM: Jason steps down beneath the ground a short distance.
** (3) Kibin shrugs. "I guess I will, I probally can see better in the night than both of you." **
(1) GM: Derrel: Quite probably. And I still need to rest up.
(1) GM: A long ways away, in a crude stone room, an elven man watches in a mirror....
(3) Kibin: (what's the area like again?)
** (3) Kibin paces around the area, shortsword drawn. **
(1) GM: Kibin sees ... small trees, a packed earth road, and some wagon tracks.
(1) GM: Anything else before morning?
(3) Kibin: (i sit for an hour or so, that's all)
(1) GM: Great; so the next morning, Jason gets back up from his dirt-nap, and you all continue on towards Chesterwark?
(1) GM: (got to go - dinner)
(3) Kibin: (for how long?)
(3) Kibin: (meh, tell me when you're back)
(3) Kibin: (i'll be playing xbox)
(3) Kibin: (hurry back :()
(1) GM: Back
(3) Kibin: (yay!)
(3) Kibin: (i spent the time while you were gone figuring out exactly what to wish for, if given the opportunity)
(3) Kibin: (anyway, i guess we WILL continue walking, with Jason in the lead, because of his phasing abilities)
(3) Kibin: (if anything attacks, he probally has the highest chance of surviving :)
(1) GM: (Derrel got in trouble with that once - Jason doesn't fall down pit traps.....) You arrive without further incident at Chesterwark. It's a reasoanbly small town, with the basic general store, local shrine, a tavern, and a few small houses grouped together.
(3) Kibin: (okay, then i'm in the middle :P)
** (3) Kibin walks into the town, wondering how the townspeople will react to his race. **
(1) GM: A young woman screams about the "oversized rat" and yells for her dogs.....
(1) GM: Fortunately, the dogs aren't very well trained, and just sort of look at her.
(3) Kibin: (kobolds aren't furry :P)
(1) GM: (young women aren't always fully observant)
(1) GM: (she obviously also missed the clothing....)
(3) Kibin: (ah :P)
(1) GM: Derrel: Well, lets see if we can get to asking around.
(1) GM: Jason: Just remember - summoning circles require silver dust. We can probably find him on that.
** (3) Kibin motions to Derrel. "You should take the lead now, I guess. Most people tend not to be friendly around my race..." **
(1) GM: Jason: Strangely, upon meeting me, most poeple look like they've seen a ghost.
(1) GM: Gather information checks?
(1) GM: (Charisma based, useable untrained)
(3) Kibin: [1d20] -> [12] = (12)
(1) GM: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [1,10] = (11)
(1) GM: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+1] -> [9,1] = (10)
(3) Kibin: (sad that someone that actuall has the skill, got less than me)
(1) GM: (nobody actually had the skill - that +10 is Jason's Charisma modifier)
(1) GM: Nobody finds anything out about silver dust or odd mages.
(3) Kibin: (holy... how'd jason get such a big whopping charisma modifier?)
(1) GM: (18 base, +4 racial, +6 cloak, +1 middle age, +1 advancement = Charisma 30, mod +10)
(3) Kibin: (holy...)
(1) GM: (note that his ghostly abilities are all charisma based.....)
(3) Kibin: (hehe, sweet)
(1) GM: (and he's a sorceror on the class side....)
(3) Kibin: (my dexterity is only 22 : (
** (3) Kibin fiddles impatiently with his hands, nervous. **
(1) GM: Derrel: Anyone find anything out?
(1) GM: Jason: Nobody seems to be talking. Kibin?
** (3) Kibin shakes his head. "Nope." **
(1) GM: Derrel: Well, we can always try again.....
(1) GM: Jason: But it's getting late. Asking around takes time, (1d4 hours, specifically) and we arrived in the afternoon. Looks like another nightly attack.
(1) GM: Took Max of [3d4] -> [3,1,2] = (6)
(1) GM: Three hours for everyone to meet back up. 5 in the afternoon, now.
(3) Kibin: (okay, so it's time to turn in for the night.)
(3) Kibin: (oh)
(1) GM: Jason: Well, we can try again, and meet back here when we are done. If that doesn't work, well, we need to make sure we end up in the same room at the inn.
(1) GM: DM: Just one more try today, for each of you.
(1) GM: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+1] -> [20,1] = (21)
(3) Kibin: [1d20] -> [13] = (13)
(1) GM: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [14,10] = (24)
(3) Kibin: (the RNG hates me, lol)
(3) Kibin: (ooo, a 20)
(1) GM: (not particularly - 13 is above average)
(1) GM: [3d4] -> [2,3,1] = (6)
(1) GM: Took another 3 hours.
(1) GM: 8 pm, and after dark.
(1) GM: Jason, Derrel: You don't find anything about silver dust, but you do get information that there have been a few new people in town, but not more than one at a time until your group showed up, and several stores have been robbed by demons lately.
(1) GM: Jason: Well, no lead on the silver dust.
** (3) Kibin sighs. "I guess it's time to find an inn to sleep at for the night?" **
(1) GM: Derrel: Did find something, though - seems our adversary is in the area - stores are being robbed by demons, and someone is walking around in disguise.
(1) GM: Jason: Sounds good.
(1) GM: Derrel: Think they use standard rates?
(1) GM: Kibin - make a spot check.
(3) Kibin: [1d20+1] -> [20,1] = (21)
(3) Kibin: (there's the spot check)
(1) GM: You notice a slightly routund inkeeper walking up behind you, who answers Derrel's question
(1) GM: Inkeeper: Sure do! I take it you are looking for a room for the night? I have stabling, too, for the animals.
(3) Kibin: (we have animals?)
(1) GM: (yep - Jason has two horses and a wagon to carry the stuff he has picked up since his demise)
(3) Kibin: (ah)
** (3) Kibin turns quickly around, facing the innkeeper. He lets the other two talk, staying quiet. **
(1) GM: Derrel. Yes, we need one room for three people - preffereably a private room, two good meals, and stabling for the horses.
(1) GM: Inkeeper: Your pale freind there isn't eating?
(1) GM: Jason: No.
(1) GM: Inkeeper: Well, in that case, that runs... let's see...
(1) GM: Inkeeper: 8 GP for the night.
(3) Kibin: (i don't eat much, so take that into account)
(1) GM: (not separate line items, and just as much work goes into prepareing them (perhaps more so, for the precision) if not as much material)
(3) Kibin: (okay, then never mind.)
** (3) Kibin continues to stay quiet, letting the other two party members converse. **
(1) GM: Derrel: Let's see... that's 2 gp, 1 sp from each of us, three gp from you, Jason as they are your horses.
(1) GM: Jason: Sounds about right.
(1) GM: Jason and derrel hand over the money.
(1) GM: (wait - bad math; that's 2 gp 5 sp!)
** (3) Kibin takes his pack off his back, fumbling through for the coinage. He then takes it out, and keeps it in his hand as he slips the canvas pack back on, waiting for the innkeeper to lead them to the inn. **
(1) GM: Seeing the money, the inkeeper smiles, then leads everyone back to the inn, motioning to a stableboy to take care of the horses, and calls the cook for the individually prepared meals.
(1) GM: The stableboy hastens to obey, as does the cook.
(1) GM: Half an hour later, Derrel and Kibin have rather good meals set before them.
(3) Kibin: (i guess I already paid for everything, then)
(1) GM: (not necessarily - the 5 gp, 5 sp from Jason and Derrel would more than cover the meals & Horses - note, though, that he hasn't actually had the room prepared....)
(3) Kibin: (what IS the meal? a couple of drumsticks, with some biscuits?)
(1) GM: The meal consists of a fresh, medium-well steak, a side of peas, some sweet bread, and a tall glass of mead.
** (3) Kibin cuts a piece of the steak off, and looks at it for a moment. **
(1) GM: Make a spot check.
(1) GM: (note that you are indoors, and no longer dazzled)
(3) Kibin: [1d20+1] -> [8,1] = (9)
(3) Kibin: (wasn't dazzled outside either, remember? it was dark out)
(1) GM: (Ah, right)
(1) GM: It looks tender, juicy, and absolutely delicious.
(3) Kibin: (isn't darren going to dig it? :P)
(1) GM: You glance over and see Derrel eating away quite heartily, and enjoying his meal quite well.
(3) Kibin: (just suspicious :)
** (3) Kibin nibbles lightly on the steak, then digs in, thankful to have something else other than rations. **
(1) GM: It is tender, juicy, and absolutely delicious.
(3) Kibin: (you like to make people sweat with all these spot checks, don't you?)
(1) GM: (I wouldn't have called for it if you hadn't specifically mentioned you were looking at it; normally, if a spot check needs to be made, I will call for one then)
(3) Kibin: (just suspicious, like any good rogue would do)
(1) GM: A short time later.... Derrel finishes up, and asks the inkeeper where to find the room.
(1) GM: Inkeeper: Right up the stairs, down the hall, second door on your right. Although I would like the final portion of the payment before you pack it in for the night.
** (3) Kibin places his coins in front of the innkeeper, paying him for the room. **
(1) GM: The inkeeper smiles and nods, then wanders off to take care of other household chores.
(3) Kibin: (okay, we're all in the room I guess)
(1) GM: You bed down for the night.....
(1) GM: Kibin, make a will save.
(3) Kibin: (dang :P)
(3) Kibin: [1d20+5] -> [20,5] = (25)
(1) GM: You wake up with the feeling of a tingle on the back of your neck.
** (3) Kibin wakes with a start, searching his surroundings for anything out of reflex. **
(1) GM: Search roll?
(3) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [7,19] = (26)
(1) GM: You find a mouse that housekeeping had missed.
(1) GM: But nothing else unexpected.
(3) Kibin: (why do you DO this? :P)
(1) GM: (you said you searched the surroundings. The will save, however, was quite necessary..)
** (3) Kibin goes back to sleep uneasily, lightly sleeping. **
(1) GM: The night passes without incident.
(3) Kibin: (you're still making me sweat :P)
(1) GM: (there is an in-game reason for that will save - check out the Scry spell sometime)
(3) Kibin: (oh yeah)
(3) Kibin: (i thought that it was that :P)
(1) GM: (Just wait until you see the reaction from a failed save....)
(3) Kibin: (*freezes in terror*)
(1) GM: Anyway... the next morning... the inkeeper sends someone up to serve you breakfast - some tasty cold cuts and fresh milk - again, Derrel enjoys it.
** (3) Kibin enjoys it too. Mmm, cold milk. **
(1) GM: Fresh, not cold - as in recently from the cow - quite warm, actually, but comepletely non-spoiled.
(1) GM: (They don't have any magic refrigerators in the Inn)
(3) Kibin: (well, mmm milk)
(1) GM: Derrel: So, how should we follow up on the strangers in town?
** (3) Kibin lets Jason speak first. **
(1) GM: Jason: Don't forget the store robberies. Perhaps we should lay in wait at one that hasn't been hit yet.
(1) GM: Derrel: Sounds like a plan. Kibin?
** (3) Kibin smiles. "More demon killing? I love it. Teaches them not to put me in a sack and carry me off to who knows where." **
(1) GM: Let's be at it, then.
(3) Kibin: (hehe)
(3) Kibin: (we need to do hide checks?)
(1) GM: Crowded area; people are expected. (Besides, do you have any idea what penalty Derrel has on his hide check? Full plate, no ranks in hide - he sticks out like a sore thumb.)
(1) GM: Although you can, if you would like.
(1) GM: Might give you a surprise round.
(3) Kibin: (well, the DEMONS aren't looking at me...)
(3) Kibin: (do the shopkeeper know we're trying to catch a demon? i'm wondering if he would mind me taking out my sword :P
(1) GM: (try asking one)
(1) GM: Jason: Meanwhile, I think I shall try fading into the background....
(1) GM: Jason dissapears from sight
** (3) Kibin asks the shopkeeper, "Do you mind us staying here in wait for some demons? We're trying to catch those demons that's been robbing the stores." **
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Sure, just stay out of the way of paying customers, all right?
(1) GM: (planning on agreeing? Perhaps hiding behind a counter or two?)
(3) Kibin: (counter is good.
** (3) Kibin nods in thanks, then hides behind a counter, shortsword out, trying not to be seen by anyone that's just coming in the door. **
(3) Kibin: [1d20+21] -> [1,21] = (22)
(3) Kibin: [see? rng hates me, lol)
(1) GM: You see people come and go. Make a spot check.
(1) GM: You too, Derrel and Jason.
(1) GM: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+1] -> [4,1] = (5)
(3) Kibin: [1d20] -> [7] = (7)
(1) GM: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [8,10] = (18)
(1) GM: Ah well, no surprise round .... three of the patrons suddenly lift the shopkeeper off the ground....
(1) GM: Roll vs. initaitive
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [6,4] = (10)
(3) Kibin: [1d20+6] -> [15,6] = (21)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+1] -> [13,1] = (14)
(1) GM: [1d20+1] -> [16,1] = (17)
(1) GM: Kibin, "patrons" Derrel, Jason.
(1) GM: Well, forgot one thing..... [1d20+19] -> [5,19] = (24)
(1) GM: Definately no surprise round.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(3) Kibin: (what's that one check for? to check my hidden status?)
(1) GM: The opposed spot vs. your Hide, yes.
(3) Kibin: (ah, dang :P)
(1) GM: You rolled a 22 earlier, so they saw you.
(3) Kibin: (would I know they spotted me, because of their eyes looking at me? :P)
(1) GM: Your spot check earlier was for thier disguise check, which you failed. Nope.
(1) GM: You won initiative. It's your turn.
(1) GM: (if it makes you feel better, the total modifeir on their spot check was +27.... no need to roll, given the spot rolls of everyone in the party)
(1) GM: (sorry, that's their disguise check, not their spot check)
(1) GM: Descriptions:
** (3) Kibin would spring from supposed cover, using a full attack on the closest 'patron', trying to strike vital areas(which won't happen because they have their dexterity modifier). He then focuses on that opponent to dodge any counter-attacks by him. **
(3) Kibin: [1d20+16] -> [4,16] = (20)
(1) GM: They are still flat-footed, as they haven't acted yet this round.
(3) Kibin: [Bad dice format] - [wait, increase that by one]
(3) Kibin: (oh...)
(3) Kibin: (well then :P)
(3) Kibin: [1d20+21] -> [1,21] = (22) [1d20+16] -> [5,16] = (21)
(3) Kibin: [1d4+3+6d6] -> [1,3,3,3,1,5,2,4] = (22) [1d4+3+6d6] -> [3,3,6,4,4,2,4,1] = (27)
(3) Kibin: (since they're flatfooted, they don't get dex bonus to armor, and I get sneak attack...)
(1) GM: Also decrease by 1, as you are currently dazzled; you had to move in close, so you don't get a full attack, and you rolled a one on the first, so you swing and hit a nearby table, spilling oranges all over the floor.
(3) Kibin: (aren't we inside, cancelling the dazzled effect?)
(1) GM: It's a very well-lit shop, so that the normal patrons can better see the goods, which are of excellent quality.
(1) GM: Lots of windows and direct sun.
(3) Kibin: (ah :( )
(3) Kibin: (and I guess no 5 foot step, either?)
(1) GM: (besides - you rolled a 1 on the attack roll - automatic miss on those, just as a 20 is an automatic hit (as well as a potential critical))
(1) GM: (not from behind a counter)
(3) Kibin: (ah, okay, i leap over counter, try to attack, end up doing 22 damage to a table with oranges, lol)
(1) GM: The "patrons" drop their cloaks, to reaqveal extremely beautiful women underneath. One shouts "How Cute!" and attempts to run up and kiss Kibin. Do you oppose?
(3) Kibin: (why wouldn't I? :P)
(1) GM: (note that they drop the shopkeeper)
(3) Kibin: (um)
(1) GM: She charges and grapples - take your AoO.
(3) Kibin: (why do I get the feeling that the kiss will give a negative level? :( )
(1) GM: (because you've been reading the monster manual - do you have any ranks in Knoweledge (the planes)?)
(3) Kibin: (i got a +2 intelligence modifier)
(3) Kibin: [1d20+2] -> [17,2] = (19)
(3) Kibin: (so there's the knowledge check)
(1) GM: (knoweledge skills are not useable untrained, sorry.)
(3) Kibin: (ah :( )
(1) GM: (and it was DC 20 anyway....)
(3) Kibin: (can I just knock her back?)
(3) Kibin: (or do non-lethal damage?)
(1) GM: Make your AoO for her moving in to grapple (yes)
(1) GM: (non-leathal with a sword is a -4 on the attack roll)
(3) Kibin: (she gets agility AC bonus now, right?)
(3) Kibin: (so no sneak attack)
(1) GM: (yep - no sneak attack yet)
(3) Kibin: [1d20+13] -> [7,13] = (20)
(3) Kibin: [1d4-2] -> [4,-2] = (2)
(3) Kibin: [so that would be 2 non-lethal damage, probally nothing :( )
(1) GM: You hit, but she seems to completely ignore the attack. Touch attack: [1d20+6] -> [3,6] = (9)
(1) GM: You skip out of the way, no harm done.
(1) GM: "patron" two:
(3) Kibin: (okay, now it's the other two patrons turn)
(1) GM: This one stops and mubles something ....
(1) GM: Derrel, make a will save.
(1) GM: Will save: [1d20+4] -> [11,4] = (15)
(1) GM: Will save failed. Derrel, she's your bestest friend in the whole wide world!
(3) Kibin: (okay, now my OOC self knows that this is a succubus, x.x)
(1) GM: "Patron" 3: mubles under her breath, and fades from your view. Jason, however, can still see her quite clearly.
(1) GM: Derrel Looks confused: Why are you hurting my friends?
(1) GM: Jason: Forcing the one that joined me on the etherial plane away.
(1) GM: Ghost Telekenesis: Violent Thrust: Standard Action: Attack rolls (one per creature or object thrown) to hit target with loose items. Wait: [1d4] -> [2] = (2) rounds; attack roll: [1d20+13] -> [8,13] = (21)
(1) GM: Sending her flying.
(1) GM: Succubus 3: will save: [1d20+7] -> [4,7] = (11)
(1) GM: She goes flying, not that anyone sees....
(1) GM: Kibin?
** (3) Kibin deduces, from the other 'patron' mumblings, and from Jason, that these are probally the demons raiding the store. He fakes the demon low, then strikes with his short sword up high, trying to catch her in the throat. "Derrel, these are not your friends, these are the demons that have been raiding the stores." **
(3) Kibin: [1d20+15] -> [17,15] = (32) (bluff check)
(3) Kibin: (tell me if that succesfully feints the target)
(1) GM: [1d20+2] -> [14,2] = (16)
(1) GM: Yep.
(3) Kibin: [1d20+21] -> [5,21] = (26)
(3) Kibin: [1d4+3+6d6] -> [4,3,6,4,5,3,5,5] = (35)
(1) GM: Hit.
(1) GM: The poor girl screams as you cut her open .... strangely, she remains standing.
(3) Kibin: (do i need to make some sort of check against derrel?)
(1) GM: Patron 1: throws off something of the disguise and you watch as she tries to rend you with her claws.....
(1) GM: [1d20+7] -> [2,7] = (9) [1d20+7] -> [2,7] = (9)
(1) GM: Not that she comes anywhere close to your skin.
(1) GM: Patron 2: Mumbles again.....
(3) Kibin: (yeah, the gnat is too agile)
(1) GM: Kibin, make a will save.
(3) Kibin: [1d20+5] -> [17,5] = (22)
(1) GM: You feel a hostile force failing ... just barely... to invade your mind.
(1) GM: Patron 3 elects not to come back.
(1) GM: While 2 politely asks derrel to interceed on her "sisters" behalf.
(1) GM: (it's too late - he already failed his save....)
(1) GM: Derrel charges Kibin and attempts to grapple.
(3) Kibin: (i think you need to do a opposed charisma check)
(3) Kibin: (if you're using charm monster)
(1) GM: Kibin - make your AoO (that's only when two people have charmed the same target, or the target is asked to do something througholy against it's nature - saving a lady (that's what he believes at the moment) is not against the nature of a paladin. However, he doesn't want to hurt his firend, so he isn't using his sword, and is attempting to grapple.)
(3) Kibin: (on who? the number two?)
(1) GM: No, she is out of reach for the moment. On Derrel.
(3) Kibin: (what about the escape artist skill? can i just slip out of his grasp?)
(1) GM: If you like, you can skip the AoO, and use Escape Artist for the opposed grapple check for him to hold on. A successful hit, even one that deals no real damage, however, stops the grapple attempt.
(3) Kibin: (i'll skip the AoO, and use escape artist then)
(1) GM: Derrel's Touch attack: [1d20+12+2] -> [2,12,2] = (16)
(1) GM: Touch attack fails, and you evade Derrel's grasp.
(1) GM: Jason: Manifest on the prime material, directly behind the one that charmed Derrel.
(3) Kibin: (it's barely even possible for him to grapple me, i'm one mega-slippery kobold :D)
(1) GM: Jason fades into sight directly behind "patron" 2.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(1) GM: Jason: Make a Hide check.
(1) GM: Hide Skill Check: [1d20+12] -> [12,12] = (24)
(3) Kibin: (so is patron 2 denied dex modifier?)
(1) GM: Opposed Spot: [1d20+19] -> [8,19] = (27)
(3) Kibin: (for flanking, maybe?)
(1) GM: Nope. It was so she wouldn't react to what he is trying next until it was too late....
(3) Kibin: (dang)
(3) Kibin: (patron 1 still isn't down, right?)
(1) GM: Correct. She is on her feet.
(3) Kibin: :attacks Patron 1, attempting to finish her off. Kibin would then turn around, and feint at patron 2, to attempt to lower her guard for the next attack.
(3) Kibin: [1d20+17] -> [8,17] = (25)
(5) Derrel (enter): 18:37
(3) Kibin: [1d4-2] -> [1,-2] = (-1)
(3) Kibin: (well, that kinda sucked :P)
(1) GM: Can't get to 2 without a move action. She is on the other side of the room.
(5) Derrel: (Didn't think you'd still be playing)
(3) Kibin: (oh, then I do two attacks on patron 1)
(3) Kibin: (well, if that's the case, i wouldn't do two attacks, i'd feint again, and attack)
(1) GM: (i'd really suggest another bluff/sneak attack combo - you can't get through the DR, otherwise)
** (3) Kibin feints to the side this time, then tries to stab Patron 1 in the chest. **
(3) Kibin: [1d20+15] -> [20,15] = (35)
(1) GM: Derrel: we are in a fight in a shop; there were three, but one is now gone; beautiful women, one of whom (standing right in front of Jason) is your bestest friend in the whole wide world (you've been charmed, sorry), and has told you to restrain Kibin to keep him from hurting her
(1) GM: "sister" who Kibin has just resumed attacking.
(1) GM: She's bluffed.
(3) Kibin: (if you were still in control of your actions, i'd recommend you'd stop, since I have a 26 to evade those grapples :D)
(3) Kibin: [1d20+21] -> [17,21] = (38)
(1) GM: hit.
(3) Kibin: [1d4+3+6d6] -> [2,3,3,5,2,5,5,3] = (28)
(1) GM: Your might sneak attack severs her head, and she collapses to the ground, dead, revealing her true form....
(5) Derrel: (Do I get a will save?)
(3) Kibin: (would that snap derrel out of it?)
(3) Kibin: (derrel, you already failed yours)
(3) Kibin: (it's the big pig looking thingie? ew)
(5) Derrel: (Yeah, what I meant is because of seeing the true form)
(1) GM: (the little one in the corner, not the big one that takes up most the picture)
(3) Kibin: (lol)
(3) Kibin: (the sexy one then :D)
(3) Kibin: (okay, derrel's turn, go ahead and waste your turn trying to grapple me :D)
(1) GM: Succubi 2, actually: mubles a bit, and attempts to charm
(1) GM: Kibin this time.
(1) GM: Save vs. Will
(3) Kibin: (meh :P)
(3) Kibin: [1d30+5] -> [12,5] = (17)
(5) Derrel: (Where's Jason?)
(3) Kibin: (and, of course, i failed it, of course O.o)
(1) GM: Failed save. She's now your bestest friend in the whole wide world, too.
(1) GM: Derrel?
(3) Kibin: (can't see just use suggestion instead?)
(1) GM: She could, but that's a lower will save.
(3) Kibin: (and? x.x)
(5) Derrel: I grapple Kibin
(5) Derrel: OOC
(1) GM: Kibin - taking your AoO?
(1) GM: Vs. Derrel?
(3) Kibin: (nope, going to be a slippery kobold again)
(3) Kibin: (is AC added to escape artist, to evade the grapple?)
(1) GM: Derrel: Roll your touch attack, then your grapple.
(3) Kibin: (or at least the touch AC)
(3) Kibin: (oh, touch goes to AC, grapple goes to escape artist_
(5) Derrel: (Uh...What is my touch attack, anyway? I don't seem to have recorded my base attack, for some reason)
(1) GM: (All right - what happens: it's three steps - AoO - if that is failed or not made, attacker uses touch attack; if touch attack is sucessful, opposed grapple, with the defender able to elect to use Escape artist)
(1) GM: (1d20+12+str; or 1d20+14, i believe)
(5) Derrel: [1d20+14] -> [8,14] = (22)
(1) GM: Touch attack succeeds. Opposed grapple checks. (or escape artist, for Kibin)
(3) Kibin: [1d20+26] -> [3,26] = (29)
(1) GM: (Derrel: it will be the same roll, for you)
(3) Kibin: (noooooooo :P)
(5) Derrel: [1d10+14] -> [10,14] = (24)
(5) Derrel: OOC: Oops
(5) Derrel: [1d20+14] -> [14,14] = (28)
(3) Kibin: (i escape, but JUST barely)
(1) GM: Derrel, you find you can't get a good grip on Kibin. You have two more tries at different BAB - each at a cumulative -5 due to iterative attack penalty.
(5) Derrel: [1d20+9] -> [1,9] = (10)
(5) Derrel: [1d20+4] -> [5,4] = (9)
(1) GM: Touch attack fails, touch attack fails.
(1) GM: Jason's turn:
(1) GM: Ghost Malevolence: Will Save DC 25 (15 + Ghost's Cha modifier) or possess subject
(1) GM: I'm taking her over!
(1) GM: Succubus will save: [1d20+7] -> [12,7] = (19)
(3) Kibin: (YAY! :P)
(1) GM: Failed. Jason successfully possesses the Sububus.
(1) GM: Free action talking: Stop fighting you two!
** (5) Derrel stops fighting...Barely **
(5) Derrel: "What was that about?!?!"
(3) Kibin: (so that breaks the charm effect)
(3) Kibin: (right?)
(1) GM: Nothing specifically says it does.... but then, Jason is now in full controll of your controller....
(1) GM: Jason: Derrel, would you be so kind as to cast Protection from Evil on yourself, and Kibin there, if you have two?
** (3) Kibin wasn't fighting Derrel in the first place... so... nothing much happens. **
(1) GM: (Protection From Evil, however, will suppress the control for the duration....)
(1) GM: (Derrel - you haven't cast any spells yet today, so go ahead and refesh them if they aren't full)
(5) Derrel: (Huh - I don't have any spells marked down here. Can I cast it anyway?)
(5) Derrel: (I think I was forgetting about spells for a while there)
(3) Kibin: (you took a nights rest, so why not?)
(1) GM: (Paladins are divine casters - they don't need a good nights sleep, just their selected prayer time)
** (5) Derrel casts Protection From Evil, then looks dumbfounded. **
(1) GM: Jason: Do you have a second for Kibin? I'd really rather you both were covered before this next step....
** (5) Derrel does that, too. **
** (3) Kibin looks back and forth, wondering where the 'enemy' went. **
(1) GM: Jason: All right I'm really Jason - I've possessed this demon for now - but I can't hold on forever, and the protections I just conned you into putting up should suppress her control - come over here and kill her before they wear off, would you?
(1) GM: Jason closes the succubi's eyes.
(3) Kibin: (am I free yet?)
(1) GM: Yep, both of you, temporarily.
(5) Derrel: (Do I get a Smite Evil?)
(3) Kibin: (ah, who NEEDS smite evil?)
(1) GM: Haven't used any today.
(5) Derrel: (Paladins?)
(5) Derrel: Longsword Attack 1 Attack Roll: [1d20+25] -> [16,25] = (41)===> DMG: [1d8+15+2] -> [4,15,2] = (21)
(5) Derrel: Longsword Attack 2 Attack Roll: [1d20+19] -> [5,19] = (24)===> DMG: [1d8+4+2] -> [2,4,2] = (8)
(5) Derrel: Longsword Attack 2 Attack Roll: [1d20+19] -> [14,19] = (33)===> DMG: [1d8+4+2] -> [1,4,2] = (7)
(3) Kibin: (we got a helpless opponent, that we can do a coup de grace on :D)
(5) Derrel: Longsword Attack 3 Attack Roll: [1d20+14] -> [1,14] = (15)===> DMG: [1d8+4+2] -> [6,4,2] = (12)
(5) Derrel: (Oops - Hit #2 twice)
(5) Derrel: (How do you do that?)
(1) GM: Three hits, 13 damage dealt.
(3) Kibin: (a coup de grace is done when an opponent is helpless)
(3) Kibin: (it's automatically a hit, and a critical hit)
(5) Derrel: (Oh. Can I do that instead?)
(1) GM: It's a full-round action, save vs. fort or die. Full sneak attack, too. DC 10 + Damage Recieved.
(5) Derrel: Longsword Attack 1 Attack Roll: [1d20+25] -> [7,25] = (32)===> DMG: [1d8+15+2] -> [8,15,2] = (25)
(1) GM: Kibin is much, much better at it. Let him.
(3) Kibin: (and if they survive the damage, they have to make a fortitude save, DC 10 + damage dealt)
(5) Derrel: (Can't we both?)
** (3) Kibin would lunge forward, severing the head of the succubus. **
(3) Kibin: [1d20+21] -> [17,21] = (38)
(3) Kibin: (the AC of helpless opponent is same as flat-footed, minus one...)
(1) GM: Don't need to roll to-hit on that one. Just damage.
(3) Kibin: (oh yeah)
(1) GM: CdG is an auromatic hit. Automatic critical.
(3) Kibin: [1d4+3+6d6] -> [3,3,5,4,3,5,3,2] = (28)
(3) Kibin: (times that by two :P)
(3) Kibin: (don't know how to do criticals with dice rolls, we can just multiply)
(1) GM: Sneak Attack doesn't get doubled. the 1d4+3 gets rolled again and added, however.
(5) Derrel: [Bad dice format] - [1d4+3+6d6x2]
(5) Derrel: [1d4+3+6d6*2] -> [4,3,46] = (53)
(3) Kibin: (eh, still...)
(3) Kibin: (OFF WITH HER HEAD!)
(3) Kibin: (INSTA KILL! -10 HP!)
(1) GM: [1d20+6] -> [13,6] = (19)
(5) Derrel: (Failed both saves)
(3) Kibin: (is there any way she could have done a save? x.x)
(1) GM: She dies... very, very dead. Then Jason is left standing in her wake.
(5) Derrel: (Why would any of us go to here wake?)
(5) Derrel: * her
(3) Kibin: (jason possessed the succubus, remember?)
(3) Kibin: (inhabited her body, fun)
(5) Derrel: (Bad joke - Wake = Irish Funeral)
(1) GM: (NOW the charm is broken - wake refers to both a form of funeral rite and something not being there, as a boat's wake)
(3) Kibin: (okay, what does the shopkeeper say now? O.o)
(1) GM: (a pun)
(5) Derrel: (I know that - That's why it's a bad joke. Triple pun! :D )
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: My oranges! My beautiful Oranges!
(1) GM: (you missed Kibin's critical miss - he hit a table full of oranges and knocked it over)
(3) Kibin: (the shopkeeper just had a bloodbath in his shop, and he's worried about his ORANGES?)
(5) Derrel: "Be glad this day, for your soul is safe. And beleive me, it's a lot more important than oranges. Besides, I'm sure Kibin will pay for them."
** (3) Kibin glares at Derrel. **
(1) GM: (he's in shock - you'd get a decent bonus on slight of hand at the moment...)
(5) Derrel: *Whisper to Kibin* Pay the nutcase, we don't need trouble with the city gaurds. And it'll only cost a little"
(3) Kibin: (is there like a shop till, where theres a bunch of money in it?)
(5) Derrel: (You are also traveling with a Paladin)
(3) Kibin: (yes, i'm traveling with a paladin, which DOESN'T need to know about the sleight of hand ;)
(5) Derrel: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+1] -> [3,1] = (4)
(1) GM: (slight of hand vs. spot, if you choose to.)
(5) Derrel: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+1] -> [16,1] = (17)
(3) Kibin: (how much would the oranges be? about 20 gp?)
(1) GM: 10 gp.
(1) GM: (ad hock)
(5) Derrel: (Each or all?)
(1) GM: (total)
(5) Derrel: (Have I done a See Evil or whatever it's called on Kibin?)
(1) GM: (No - and it's Detect Evil)
** (3) Kibin rummages in his backpack for a platnium coin. He then places it in the shop till, making sure the shopkeeper(and Derrel), sees the platnium coin go in, being lost on the other coinage. He then secretly palms the piece without anyones knowledge, stepping back and going out of the door. **
(3) Kibin: [1d20+16] -> [10,16] = (26)
(1) GM: Derrel, you don't notice anything amiss.
(5) Derrel: *Whisper* See, that wasn't so hard.
(1) GM: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [16,10] = (26)
(3) Kibin: (i'm neutral good, and it probally wouldn't be detected, since we DID stop his shop from being raided...
(1) GM: (Jason, however... doesn't comment.)
(3) Kibin: (hehe)
(5) Derrel: (NG - Uh...Looks more like CN)
(3) Kibin: (that would probally include dropping the coin into my pocket)
(3) Kibin: (eh, i follow the rules sometimes :P)
(5) Derrel: (CN)
(5) Derrel: (CG, at least)
(3) Kibin: (meh :P)
(5) Derrel: (bah :P)
(3) Kibin: (i chose neutral because i don't want to do something so blatently disobeying rules, that everyone wants to kill me)
(3) Kibin: (kobolds are cowards by instinct :) )
(1) GM: DM: Neutral good is not excluded by his actions - he didn't obey a potential authority figure, but he calmed the shopkeeper down, just not at a cost to himself. Definately not Lawful, however.
(3) Kibin: (exactly, i did exactly what my character would have done)
(3) Kibin: (now can we go? :P)
(3) Kibin: (i have 20 more minutes of roleplaying time left :D)
(1) GM: The shopkeeper calms down, then picks up the oranges. "Well, they are a little bruised, but I suppose they are yours now" he then hands you the oranges from the floor.
(3) Kibin: (wouldn't some oranges be unbruised?)
(5) Derrel: "That seems fair."
(1) GM: Jason: They walked in here. Perhaps we could track them out?
(1) GM: (some - even the bruised ones will only be bruised on one side. You get about 20 oranges, weighing in at 5 pounds.)
(5) Derrel: (Tracking would be?...)
(1) GM: (a subset of Survival)
(1) GM: (or Wilderness lore, in 3.0 terms)
(5) Derrel: Wilderness Lore Skill Check: [1d20+1] -> [9,1] = (10)
** (3) Kibin shrugs. "Why not? Probally would be hard though..." He accepts half of the oranges, leaving the other half for Derrel. "Jason, I guess you probally don't want any oranges, seeing as you don't eat?" **
(3) Kibin: (what about search?)
(1) GM: I can't taste them - not alone, anwyay.
(1) GM: (search will let you find tracks, but not follow them.)
(5) Derrel: Search Skill Check: [1d20-1] -> [13,-1] = (12)
** (3) Kibin places them in this sack, and then walks out the door, making sure to be near the edge as to not smudge anything. **
(5) Derrel: (Yes, but we could follow them if we used a search pattern)
(3) Kibin: (exactly)
** (5) Derrel follows Kibin **
(3) Kibin: (we could see what direction it goes in)
(1) GM: Derrel: you don't find anything other than your own bloody tracks in the post-combat mess.
(3) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [19,19] = (38)
(3) Kibin: (my search roll :)
(1) GM: Kibin, however, finds a set of three tracks coming in from outside.
(3) Kibin: (i'm already out the door...)
(1) GM: Well .... coming from the north.
** (3) Kibin walks a bit to the north, till the first intersection, searching again. **
(3) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [7,19] = (26)
(1) GM: Unfortunately, you lose the trail.
(1) GM: A man in light green patterend robes asks you what you are up to.
** (3) Kibin sighs. "Well, there were some tracks down there leading to the north, but I can't find any over here." He lets the other two party members treply to that man. **
(3) Kibin: (why am I the only one being attacked? O.o)
(1) GM: Robed Man: Odd. I've looked all over the place, and the only tracks around here are human.
(1) GM: Ranger: What are you searching for?
(3) Kibin: (what ranger?)
(3) Kibin: (ooo, yay plot device! :D)
(1) GM: (green robed man who has seen lots & lots of tracks....)
(5) Derrel: "We follow the tracks of faul succibi(sp?)"
(3) Kibin: (oh)
(5) Derrel: * foul
(1) GM: And I am looking for an employer. Perhaps we can help each other.
(1) GM: (ranger talking)
** (3) Kibin searches around again for the tracks. [1d20+19] -> [1,19] = (20) **
(5) Derrel: "That depends. What are you looking for in an employer?"
(1) GM: You find mud. Lots & lots of mud. You have difficulty spotting your own footprints.
** (3) Kibin comments, worried, "If we don't hurry, those prints will be gone soon..." **
(1) GM: Ranger: Gold. I have a few expenses to meet. If I have moral high ground in the interum, all the better.
(5) Derrel: "Well, we have gold. And I think our quest is just. Name a price."
(3) Kibin: (have to go in 7 minutes :P)
(1) GM: 50 gold and I'll find your quarry. I will need a starting place, though.
** (5) Derrel pays. **
(1) GM: Ranger: You have yourself a tracker.
(1) GM: DM: and we can track next time. Meanwhile, housekeeping....
(1) GM: Derrel: you spent 2 gp, 5 sp on lodging as an NPC. Other than that, and the one you just agreed to, no expenses.
(5) Derrel: (Yeah - Two plot points for each of you for getting out of my maze. I really should have left clues)
(5) Derrel: (Can you post that in the forum, please? I'll probably get my computer back sometime next week)
(1) GM: (it worked, and was fun.)
(3) Kibin: (i agree :P)
(3) Kibin: (too lazy to update character sheet right now
(1) GM: (I can post the entire log, if you like)
(1) GM: The demon earlier - CR 11, 800 xp each.
(3) Kibin: (fear my uber sleight of hand skills :D)
(5) Derrel: (Yeah - But one of them is a GM comp for my bad planning. There was a way to foil the teleports, but I left nothing there to tell you that)
(1) GM: The three succubi - CR 7 each, 600 xp to each player.
(3) Kibin: (i want to continue doing jack's campaign, i like the level settings)
(3) Kibin: (so, 600 for each succubi?)
(1) GM: 1400 xp gained this session per character.
(3) Kibin: (aw, for all of them :( )
(3) Kibin: (do i gain a level yet? :D)
(1) GM: That brings everyone to 77075 xp, total; 925 short of 13th.
(1) GM: (no)
(3) Kibin: (aw)
(1) GM: No treasure this session.
(3) Kibin: (925 more, yay)
(1) GM: Hmm... did I award xp for the last session of Derrel and Jason only? I don't recall....
(3) Kibin: (hey, i now know that my character kicks butt in a team, that's treasure for me :D)
(3) Kibin: (anyway, i gotta go)
(5) Derrel: (Maybe?)
(5) Derrel: (I can't remember)
(3) Kibin: (just bump us up to 13 if you didn't, 13 is where you get more cool stuff for rouges :D)
(1) GM: Looks like I did, sorry.
(5) Derrel: Bye Ashton
(1) GM: Log saved.
(1) GM: Anything I'm forgetting?
(3) Kibin: Disconnecting from server...
(3) Kibin (exit): 19:37
(1) GM: Wait, Narf, hold up a moment; I want to check something.
Server Administrator-> This is a test of the broadcast system. Narf, if you get this, respond.
(1) GM: Narf?
(5) Derrel: Yep
(5) Narf: Was just getting a drink
(1) GM: Did you get the broadcast?
(5) Narf: Yep
Server Administrator-> Here's one.
(5) Narf: Yep
(1) GM: Good to know.
(1) GM: Well, shutting down the server....
Server Administrator-> Closing Server....
(5) Narf: 'This has been a test of my emergency broadcast system. If this had been a real emergency, the scream you heard would have been folowed by lots more." - Calvin
