Brest*
*
The remaining defenders of Fort Montbarey finally surrendered after the gates were blown up. With this, a general assault into Brest has been ordered.*
It seems that the German defenders are in the process of crumbling. Some of the enemy captured after their costly counter attack turned out to be sailors, kept in line by threat of violence from the paratroopers. One of them remarked that "propaganda leaflets may have accomplished a great deal, but the machine pistol of Oberleutnant Stortz is more powerful!”*
In this scenario you will command not only the 2nd Battalion 116th Infantry and attached forces, but also 1st Battalion 115th Infantry and elements of 5th Ranger Battalion. The goal: Taking the western part of Brest and the all-important harbor.
*
*
Objectives: *
Deploy your core force and attached troops ABOVE the indicated line.*
116th Infantry: Advance through and clear the western outskirts of Brest and take the eastern part of the harbor.*
115th Infantry: Take the oil storage, the navy school and the submarine pens.*
5th Rangers and irregular forces: Take the coastal fort west of Brest and clear the three gun positions around the lighthouse.*
*
*
Enemy: Brest is held by a motley crew of elite German paratroopers from the 2nd Fallschirmjaeger Division, remnants of German Infantry divisions that retreated into the town and Kriegsmarine forces of varying skill and motivation. Due to heavy losses, the Fallschirmjaeger have started to integrate sailors directly into their units. Expect large parts of the urban area to be mined and booby trapped.*

You are in command of two infantry battalions, you own and one from 115th regiment. Both have a platoon from 709th Tank Battalion and engineers attached. Heavy artillery support is available and you will receive ammunition resupply. You also have fighter bombers on call, but be aware that the harbor area is heavily protected by flak!

After this battle you will be placed in reserve and refitted.
