We have cleared the three villages. After the sharp action there, German resistance all but evaporated and the allied advance quickened. Masses of Germans with raised hands became a common sight as we raced towards Muenchen-Gladbach. On February 28th alone, 6 towns fell to our regiment against only light resistance.*
On the 1st of March, Muenchen-Gladbach fell and the 29th had been "pinched out" of the line. Occupation duties, guarding the 9th Army headquarters and training replaced service at the frontline. This is the historical result. You will receive replacements and the campaign will continue in the Ruhr Pocket in April 1945.*
