Last German Bridgehead, West of Juelich*
*
The weather, hard to believe as it may be, is getting worse, with the mud knee-deep in some places.
Still, it wouldn't be too bad, if there weren't Schu and S-Mines everywhere, waiting for a careless step.
The Germans have only two strongpoints left on the west side of the river: The Gut Hasenfeld and the Sportplatz / Schwimmbad complex at the bridge.
The main bridges are already blown, but the Germans still own two wooden bridges. They are also ferrying supplies and reinforcements into their strongpoints at night.
*
*
Objectives: *
Deploy your core force in the indicated area.*
Use the chemical mortar unit to lay a smoke screen in front of the German positions.*
Clear the Gut Hasenfeld, the Schwimmbad and the Sportplatz.*
*
*
Enemy: The Germans have rotated a fresh unit into the line: The 363rd Volksgrenadier Division.
They maintain two bridgeheads on the western side of the Roer, both heavily fortified and mined.
They are not held by many men, but the open ground all around them is registered for artillery and under constant observation by heavy guns on the high ground near Juelich.
This includes antitank guns and super heavy artillery from 766. Volks-Artillerie-Korps!
The bridgeheads themselves are free of artillery or armor.
The most covered approach is a forest in the southern area, but A company tried to cross it yesterday and found it "blooming with mines".*
*
*
A and C Company from 1st Battalion will attack from the south. Both assault battalions will be reinforced by engineers and Shermans from 747th Battalion, but take care to not run these machines into mines or antitank artillery fire!
This is the only part of the front that still sees offensive action, so we have unusually heavy artillery support, including Chemical 4.2inch mortars and heavy siege artillery.

You will receive reinforcements after this battle and the campaign will continue in 1945.
