(9) Jack Simth: I'm sorry; overslept.
(6) Kibin: YAY!
(6) Kibin: dude, how do you oversleep till 2 PM!
(8) Rev_Yul: Its not hard.
(7) Kaylin: it's pretty easy ...
(9) Jack Simth: By only getting 4 hours sleep every night m-f.
(7) Kaylin: I almost did it
(6) Kibin: my dad wakes me up any time past 9
(8) Rev_Yul: Now sleeping in to 5pm. That is a feat!
(9) Jack Simth: Speaking of which - Who's Rev_Yul and Elorin?
(7) Kaylin: my dad... doesn't wake up until 2...
(8) Rev_Yul: Random bystandard
(8) Rev_Yul: Although I can forgive your sins if you want.
(1) Elorin: Elorin=Douglas
(6) Kibin: elorin is violist
** (8) Rev_Yul is a registered reverend **
(1) Elorin: Rev_Yul is some random visitor
(6) Kibin: no wait, that's kaylin
(7) Kaylin: nono, Kaylin is Violist
(6) Kibin: okay
(6) Kibin: now narf
(7) Kaylin: Elorin: what do I put for current XP and XP-to-level?
(6) Kibin: can we go ahead and NPC him till he comes along? :P
(1) Elorin: Narf hasn't shown up, despite posting on the forum almost exactly at the time we were supposed to start
(1) Elorin: current xp = 86888 IIRC
(10) Lae'nial (enter): 14:12
(1) Elorin: XP to level is 91000
(9) Jack Simth: Minus whatever you spent on crafting, of course.
(10) Derrel: (Sorry, thought it was at 3:00)
(7) Kaylin: nothing so far
(1) Elorin: which is 2880 for me
(1) Elorin: that was 3:00 Eastern time
(9) Jack Simth: Well, let's try the other room.

(1) Elorin (enter): 14:13
(6) Kibin (enter): 14:13
(7) Kaylin (enter): 14:13
(10) Derrel (enter): 14:13
(10) Derrel: Sorry
(6) Kibin: GM, i need to know how much money I got from selling those magical items
(1) Elorin: To deal with the fact that OpenRPG wasn't designed to accomodate spontaneous casting, I added a few things to my spell list
(1) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 0 Spell ( level 0, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 1 Spell ( level 1, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 2 Spell ( level 2, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 5 Spell ( level 5, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(9) GM: Kibin - what all did you choose to sell?
(6) Kibin: everything that i can't use
(6) Kibin: ring of force shield, the mithral slick glamered chain shirt armor +5(man that's long), gloves of dexterity +4
(6) Kibin: not the sword of subtlety yet, since it's still under repair
(6) Kibin: and the backpack and bedroll, of course
(6) Kibin: since they either don't fit, or i don't need it
(9) GM: So that's gloves+4 ([16000/2] -> 8000), ring of force shield ([8500/2] -> 4250), MIthral Slick Glammered Chain Shirt Armor +5 ([25000/2+3750/2+2700/2+1150/2] -> 16300)
(6) Kibin: 16,300?
(6) Kibin: thought it was more like 20,000 some
(9) GM: [8000+4250+16300] -> 28550
(6) Kibin: oh wait
(6) Kibin: yeah that's right
(6) Kibin: that in gold?
(9) GM: Yep. Bedroll yields 5 cp, backpack 1 gp.
(6) Kibin: okay...
(6) Kibin: so 2918 PP
(6) Kibin: go work with the other people while i buy stuff :P
(1) Elorin: might I recommend a new custom made chain shirt, with slightly reduced magical properties? Assuming you have the time to commission it
(6) Kibin: does mages armor stack with regular armor?
(1) Elorin: no
(6) Kibin: asking the GM
(9) GM: Elorin's correct. Both provide an Armor bonus. Although there is one limited circumstance where Mage Armor helps and Regular Armor doesn't - Incorporeal Touch attacks. But how often does that come up?
** (6) Kibin just does a stare at the GM. **
(1) Elorin: depends on the campaign
(6) Kibin: on a daily basis for our enemies?
(9) GM: Jason's been hitting them with Telekenisis, not Incorporeal touch attacks - their non-touch AC simply doesn't matter, as it's reasonably standard grappling.
(6) Kibin: hmmm
(7) Kaylin: hmm, when I'm making a standard spell list, would you guys prefer I prepared Baleful Polymorph or Overland Flight?
(7) Kaylin: just as a usual.
(9) GM: Let's see... introductions all around .... Elorin, you're first. You find you've been drawn to the area with dreams of a demon that's coming, and a very odd assormtment of people whom need aid - a talking wolf, a dead man, and a holy man in full plate.
(6) Kibin: how much would a +5 mithral armor thingie be?
(6) Kibin: let's finish shopping first :P
(6) Kibin: actually, +4, it's cheaper
(7) Kaylin: Dead man? who's that? :)
(9) GM: 25,000 gp for enchantment, +1,000 for light mithral, +4,000 for medium mithral, +9,000 for heavy mithral, + base specific armor price
(6) Kibin: is material cost doubled?
(1) Elorin: nonhumanoid chain shirt = 200
(1) Elorin: I wouldn't expect shape to matter for the cost of material
(6) Kibin: 17200 is the cost then, i believe
(9) GM: (that would be for Dragonhide armor or Cold Iron, I think)
(6) Kibin: so does it alter cost, or not?
(6) Kibin: extra 1,000 if material cost is doubled
(9) GM: (doubling price; mithral is a flat + depending on the base armor's classification - light, medium, or heavy - so a Mithral Chain Shirt would cost 1,100 gp, a Mithral Breastplate would cost 4,200 gp, and a Mithral Full Plate would cost 10,500 before enchantments)
** (1) Elorin thinks "Hmm, the holy man in full plate is to be expected, the talking wolf is not unheard of, but how does a dead man need help?" **
(6) Kibin: (okay, i put mithral chainshirt +4 in description)
(9) GM: Elorian: You wandering into town, you recognize a shop that had shown up briefly in a few of your visions - a blacksmith's shop that's quite magical.
(6) Kibin: (and a ring of spell storing, minor, not placed on yet)
** (1) Elorin wanders towards the shop **
(9) GM: Elorin: Pause here
(6) Kibin: (that leaves me with 1198 PP)
(6) Kibin: (+4 is a lot less than +5 o.O)
(1) Elorin: (what bonus Amulet of Natural Armor and Ring of Protection do you have?)
(6) Kibin: (no ring of protection, i got a +2 amulet of natural armor)
(9) GM: Kaylin: You've been trying to track down a scryer that's been spying on some of your books occasionally - you've placed many of them under assorted wards, but you've been quite curious how he managed it, as it would be quite useful for your own furtherance of knoweledge. You managed to get in touch with a Seer who informed you of a place you might find others seeking the same individual, which has led you to this town. Many townsfolk have directed you to the blacksmith's shop when you asked about magic-related things.
(1) Elorin: (+2 Ring of Protection is 8000 gp)
(6) Kibin: (hmmm)
(6) Kibin: (okay, i get a +2 ring of protection)
(6) Kibin: (kaylin only has one book, btw : )
(6) Kibin: (her blessed book, 1000 pages of spells)
** (7) Kaylin starts towards the shop, asking around if there's others who are looking for the scryer **
(9) GM: (It's presumed you have a study at home somewhere, perhaps with a patron who actually owns them)
(6) Kibin: (all written in pink ink)
(7) Kaylin: (yay pink)
(1) Elorin: (that must be hard to read)
(9) GM: Elorin: Resume - you hear Kaylin
(6) Kibin: (lol :P)
(6) Kibin: (maybe she writes it on black paper? :D)
(7) Kaylin: (Nah, female characters get a +1 bonus to Decipher Pink Ink)
(6) Kibin: (can it be assumed that i've already put on armor and rings?)
(9) GM: (Sure)
(6) Kibin: (29 AC, sweet)
(6) Kibin: (33 once you cast the shield spells into it, unless you already have of course)
(9) GM: (Be advised - those take a standard action to cast back out of the ring, and only last 10 rounds. ... but Jason can take care of that now.)
(9) GM: Spectral Hand, Level 2: Forms a ghostly hand to deliver low-level touch spells; has 1d4 hp, taken from caster [1d4] -> [2] = (2)
(6) Kibin: (i know)
(9) GM: Shield, Level 1: Invisible disc gives +4 to AC, blocks magic missiles
(9) GM: Shield, Level 1: Invisible disc gives +4 to AC, blocks magic missiles
(9) GM: Shield, Level 1: Invisible disc gives +4 to AC, blocks magic missiles
(6) Kibin: (but comeon! on a good round i do an average of 100 damage)
(9) GM: (...and on the round you cast Shield, you do an average of 0 damage.)
(6) Kibin: (yup)
(6) Kibin: (unless i decide not to)
(7) Kaylin: (Hey, Elorin... see me yet?)
(9) GM: (actions are the most highly valued currency in combat)
(9) GM: (Yes)
(7) Kaylin: (cool)
(1) Elorin: (To Kaylin) I don't know about a scryer, but I'm certainly looking for someone, I don't know exactly who
(1) Elorin: I've been led here by some visions
(9) GM: (Kibin - done shopping?)
(7) Kaylin: (To Elorin) I see... what kind of visions?
(6) Kibin: (guess so)
(6) Kibin: (btw, my fur is muddy brown, same color as my text : )
(9) GM: In that case, you step out of the blacksmith's shop, into the middle of a conversation. Descriptions all around, please.
(6) Kibin: (color coded for YOUR convinence)
(1) Elorin: A demon coming, an odd group of people needing help
(7) Kaylin: (wait... a wolf shopping?)
(1) Elorin: Speaking of the odd group, that looks like the talking wolf
** (6) Kibin is a wolf with a cloak, armor, amulet, and two rings on, with muddy brown fur.() **
** (7) Kaylin stares at Kibin **
** (6) Kibin looks at the two, wondering why one of them seems to know about him. **
** (7) Kaylin is a female grey-elf with black hair and green eyes, wearing a Robe of the Archmagi **
(9) GM: (he had the hardest time convincing the shopkeeper he was legit...)
** (10) Derrel is a paladin in plate mail, with sword and shield. **
(6) Kibin: (the shopkeeper forced me to take off my shineys : (
(10) Derrel: * And a rather weary expression
** (1) Elorin is a male elf with brown hair and eyes, wearing a very shiny chain shirt and with a bow on his back **
** (6) Kibin has shiney chain shirt as well. **
(7) Kaylin: (all this shineyness)
(1) Elorin: (hey, it's mithril)
(9) GM: Jason's a very pale man, slightly translucent, in an Explorer's outfit, a Cloak, some gloves, a belt, a backpack, and has a small mumified hand on a string around his neck. He's standing and walking a few inches off the ground, and doesn't appear to be breathing at all...
** (1) Elorin blinks **
** (7) Kaylin blinks too **
(7) Kaylin: Well, this is a strange gathering.
(9) GM: Jason: Not particularly. You two seem quite normal.
(1) Elorin: Well, I guess that explains how my dreams could be telling me a dead man needed help
(7) Kaylin: Tell me, do any of you know anything of a scryer in this area?
** (6) Kibin speaks up. "There's a sorcerer we've been tracking, that's been scrying on us. **
(6) Kibin: "
(10) Derrel: "And sending demons."
** (10) Derrel detects evil **
(10) Derrel: (Tries to)
(7) Kaylin: Then I must seek him. Are you willing to take me along as a companion in your journeys?
(7) Kaylin: (/me holds up a lead sheet :P )
** (6) Kibin replies, "Um, why not?" **
(1) Elorin: (now what's your story behind your "lead sheet of manhood"? lol :P)
(10) Derrel: (/me eats the lead sheet)
(6) Kibin: (okay, who else has read the order of the stick?)
(7) Kaylin: (umm.. lead sheet of chastity)
(1) Elorin: (and I don't recall seeing quick draw on your feats list :P)
(6) Kibin: (i demand to know before any more roleplaying goes on)
(10) Derrel: (Oh. /me doesn't eat the lead sheet)
(7) Kaylin: (mee)
(10) Derrel: (Me)
(6) Kibin: (okay, who HASN'T read the comic)
(9) GM: (hey now - it's listed as one of the insignificant material components for a spell (Mage's Private Sanctum), and pulling a MC from a spell component pouch is a free action....)
(9) GM: (under normal circumstances, anyway - grapples are a real pain for spellcasters)
(6) Kibin: (yeah, so you paladins can go look... somewhere else)
(7) Kaylin: (no matter what Kibin says, I'm not a Vaarsuvius clone)
(6) Kibin: (anyway, lets continue)
(6) Kibin: (hey, i helped her :D)
(7) Kaylin: (hehe, all right. where were we?)
(6) Kibin: (i said that kaylin could join)
(6) Kibin: (btw, could you do all IC actions with the /me command? easier to see)
(10) Derrel: "Combining forces seems reasonable."
(9) GM: Derrel had just detected Evil .... and not detected anything from the newcomers.
(1) Elorin: May I join your party as well? I have been led here to aid you by dreams sent by Ehlonna
** (7) Kaylin says "I shall join your force then." **
** (10) Derrel tries to locate the evil **
** (6) Kibin answers, "Why not? As long as you pay for your own food." **
(9) GM: (Derrel - you find a handful of faint auras from random passerby in the background)
** (1) Elorin replies "You need have no worries about feeding me." **
** (7) Kaylin agrees. "I can feed myself, I shall require nothing from you." **
** (6) Kibin speaks up, "Speaking of food, I need to pick up a few things, including food since that dragon ate all of mine..." **
(10) Derrel: (BRB)
(9) GM: Kibin: You find standard rations just aren't attractive anymore ... but those horses hauling Jason's cart look quite tasty....
(6) Kibin: (haha)
(7) Kaylin: (lol)
(7) Kaylin: (I should have added Polymorph Object to my spell list, I could poly you some rations)
(6) Kibin: (it's a level 8 spell)
(9) GM: (Really, really bad idea to be eating inedibles made into edibles with a mere "permanent" rather than "instantaneous" duration....)
(9) GM: (meat from Stone To Flesh, on the other hand....)
(6) Kibin: (one dispel magic, and you're screwed, lol)
(10) Derrel: (BAck)
(6) Kibin: (after all, you are what you eat!)
(7) Kaylin: (oh... I could do that for you, if it'll keep you away from our mounts)
(6) Kibin: (yay for meat boulders)
(7) Kaylin: (if I had a pony it'd be meticulously groomed...)
(6) Kibin: (anyway, i think we continue on?)
** (6) Kibin is just looking around while he waits, lingering a little while on Jason's horses... **
(9) GM: The lady smith comes out of her shop, with a few items in hand: "Sorry for the delay - I've finished fixing the two swords ..." (she hands a tiny sword to Kibin, takes back the Adamantium, and retuns his deposint, then hands a longsword back to Derrel, and snitches the loaner) "Also, I'm ready to cast that spell on the wagon, if you have the gold handy."
(6) Kibin: (how does the lady know who i am? :P)
(9) GM: Ghost Telekenesis: Lift Opponent: Standard Action, Concentration: Off Ground 12 rounds (if under 300 lbs, Will save DC 25), Wait: [1d4] -> [4] = (4)
(7) Kaylin: (you're the only wolf...)
(9) GM: Jason Picks Kibin up: Those aren't for eating.....
(9) GM: (she got the report from the other shopkeeper)
(7) Kaylin: (go Jason)
(6) Kibin: (can i at least get an opposed grapple check? :P)
(9) GM: (lift version - will save)
** (10) Derrel pays the blacksmith **
(6) Kibin: [1d20+9] -> [6,9] = (15) Will Save
(9) GM: .. As does Jason, after he sets kibin back down.
** (6) Kibin grabs the sword in his teeth, and places it in the wagon for now, since he can't use it... **
(9) GM: The woman smiles, pulls a surprisingly large thin lead sheet out of a very small pouch at her waist, and begins casting....
(7) Kaylin: (lead again?)
(9) GM: Kibin, standing next to the wagon, you simply see here gesture, to no apparent effect.
** (7) Kaylin asks, "What spell is being cast upon this wagon?" **
(9) GM: Everyone else, you see magical energies pour from her hands, and an extremely dense fog bank cover the wagon - so dense, you cannot see even one inch into it.
(1) Elorin: (surely you can identify it with a spellcraft check)
(9) GM: Kibin - you can hear Kaylin just fine.
** (7) Kaylin does so **
(9) GM: Roll?
(7) Kaylin: (urk, forgot what to roll.. looking it up)
(9) GM: Spellcraft
(1) Elorin: (if you've finished the skills section of your sheet, just right-click on Spellcraft)
(6) Kibin (whispering): it's a permanent mage's private sanctum, right?
(7) Kaylin: (I haven't yet)
whispering to Kibin, shush, you - that info isn't in character - you have no knoweledge of spellcasting!
(6) Kibin (whispering): i've practically read the entire SRD : )
(7) Kaylin: (well, on openRPG)
(6) Kibin: (type (1d20+(spellcraft))
(9) GM: She then cracks here knuckles, concentrates again, and pours even more energy into the spell ... to no apparent effect, other than leaving her a little pale...
(1) Elorin: [1d20+27] -> [18,27] = (45), if your spellcraft bonus hasn't changed from what you posted
(6) Kibin: (surround it with brackets though, like this [1d20+21] -> [7,21] = (28)
(6) Kibin: (holy crap)
(7) Kaylin: (1d20 + 27)
(7) Kaylin: (oops)
(6) Kibin: (eloring was correct)
(6) Kibin: (your result would be 45)
(7) Kaylin: (ok, thanks. got the dice roll thing now..)
** (6) Kibin climbs back out of the wagon. **
whispering to Kaylin, You identify the spells - both the spells - Mage's Private Sanctum and Permanency - those rolls were so good, you can even go look them up, if you like
(1) Elorin: (wait a minute, you have 18 ranks in Spellcraft. You can't have more ranks in one skill than your level + 3)
(6) Kibin: (she gets godly intelligence modifiers :D)
(7) Kaylin: (18? o.O )
(6) Kibin: (and it's what redblade said, blame redblade)
(1) Elorin: (which is irrelevent to number of skill ranks)
(6) Kibin: (oh yeah, she gets +2 from the knowledge of arcana)
(6) Kibin: (let's just go with the flow, k?)
(9) GM: Kibin, upon climing out of the wagon, you happen to glance back and see an extremely dense fog cloud covering both it, the horses, and about another 20 feet up from the ground.
(7) Kaylin: (erm, if there's a problem, it needs to be fixed)
(1) Elorin: (which should go in the misc. modifier section, not the skill ranks entry)
(6) Kibin: (...)
(1) Elorin: (which appears to be the problem as synergy + Magical Aptitude should be +4 misc, but the sheet only shows +2)
(6) Kibin: [1d8] -> [3] = (3)
(6) Kibin: (grrr :P)
(7) Kaylin: (*sigh* ok, lemme change that)
(9) GM: (right - no 18 ranks - 16 max - but that's only a matter of +2....)
(1) Elorin: (which is still there, just as a misc bonus instead)
(7) Kaylin: (16 skill ranks, 4 misc?)
(1) Elorin: (I think she identifies the spell)
(1) Elorin: (yep)
(6) Kibin: (+2 was from apititude, my bad)
(7) Kaylin: (OK, going to re-post the charsheet later)
(6) Kibin: (just a quirk of redblade)
(6) Kibin: (anyway, kaylin's knowledge pwned the DC of identifying, me thinks)
(9) GM: (Ah - you just put it under the wrong heading - ranks instead of misc - and you have just enough ranks in Knoweledge:Arcane for the synergy, so the total is right if not the deriving)
(7) Kaylin: (/me grins)
(6) Kibin: (can you stop the bickering over rules and roleplay? :P)
(1) Elorin: (regardless, taking the roll I made, she got a 45 which should identify pretty much ANYTHING)
** (7) Kaylin says, "ahh. I feel confident about this party." **
(9) GM: The lady smith breaths deeply, sighs, and says: "It is done."
(9) GM: In a surprisingly deep and resonating voice....
(10) Derrel: "Thanks. Now, let us get it out of traffic."
(9) GM: Jason shrugs, then "walks" over into the fog cloud.
** (6) Kibin gets back on the wagon. **
** (7) Kaylin hops up on the back of the wagon and starts combing her hair **
** (1) Elorin follows them **
(9) GM: As everyone gets into the wagon, you note that once into the fog, you can't see the fog at all, and it hampers neither sight nor sound.
(9) GM: Jason: So... do you think he will try the same tactics tonight?
(6) Kibin (whispering): i can still smell stuf inside the wagon, outside, right?
** (10) Derrel gets into the wagon. **
whispering to Kibin, while inside the wagon, everything inside the wagon smells normal, as does everything outside the wagon; while outside the wagon, you can't smell anything inside the wagon, but the stuff outside the wagon smells perfectly normal.
(11) Kibin (enter): 15:19

(12) Derrel (enter): 15:20
(11) Kibin: (meh, anything after derrel getting into the wagon i missed)
(12) Derrel: (Disconnected)
(13) Elorin (enter): 15:20
(11) Kibin: (okay, we need to do something about this disconnecting)
(12) Derrel: (And...One, two, three)
(1) Elorin (exit): 15:20
(6) Kibin (exit): 15:20
(7) Kaylin (exit): 15:20
(10) Derrel (exit): 15:20
(9) GM: (at the exact same time, too.... I suspect there may be a problem on my end)
(14) Kaylin (enter): 15:21
(11) Kibin: (i vote that we go to veav's server next time)
(14) Kaylin: (urk.)
(9) GM: (veav's?)
(11) Kibin: (it's free, it works)
(11) Kibin: (yup, you didn't think all the other servers on that list was for show, did you?)
(9) GM: (Not a particularly bad idea)
(11) Kibin: (veav hosts an open server)
(11) Kibin: (we can move there now)
(11) Kibin: (well, we should probally ask her first)
(11) Kibin: (or him)
(11) Kibin: (let's continue roleplaying here)
(11) Kibin: (anyway, anything after derrel got on the wagon, we missed
(9) GM: Didn't miss anything in character - it was a very momentary blip.
(11) Kibin: (i guess we go shopping for supplies? :P)
(9) GM: Jason: So... do you think he will try the same tactics tonight?
(11) Kibin: Do you think he won't?
(14) Kaylin: What has he been doing recently that affects you?
(12) Derrel: "Sending demons."
(12) Derrel: "Trying to kill, capture or draw blood from us."
(12) Derrel: "Building pit traps in every single lair."
** (11) Kibin comments, "That tends to affect you." **
(13) Elorin: do you know what kind of demons?
(11) Kibin: Summoned demons?
(12) Derrel: "Nope."
(9) GM: Jason: Not specifically, but they seem different every time.
(14) Kaylin: Demons... he sounds fairly powerful.
(13) Elorin: (Knowledge Religion should give me some info about demons and devils if I see them, right?)
(11) Kibin: (in reality, it's just an excuse for the GM to have plausable random encounters, lol)
(11) Kibin: (that would be planes, i think)
(13) Elorin: (but Religion should cover the major bad guys, too)
(9) GM: (Knoweledge(The Planes), as a nature-diety isn't going to have a particular beef with critters that mostly stay on other planes)
(11) Kibin: (anyway, are we going shopping or not)
(13) Elorin: (Oh well, I guess I'll have to leave that knowledge check to Kaylin)
(9) GM: (up to players - perhaps if you mention in character that you need to purchase a few things...)
(11) Kibin: (i did)
(11) Kibin: (several times)
(11) Kibin: (well, one time)
(11) Kibin: (i did mention i needed to pick up a few things, including food)
(11) Kibin: (jason better be glad i can't touch him :P)
** (13) Elorin wonders what shopkeepers will think, seeing a big bank of fog rolling up to their store :P **
** (12) Derrel gets some sleep while the others shop - Unless we're tracking rations, in which case he buys some first. **
** (14) Kaylin goes and buys some rations **
(14) Kaylin: I must acquire sustenance.
(9) GM: (yes, tracking, until some character volunteers an ability that could feed the entire party routinely with no GP expenditure, of course)
(11) Kibin: (clerics have it)
(9) GM: Kaylin - you find a store selling rations at the standard prices
(11) Kibin: (i have survival skills :D)
** (13) Elorin waits patiently in the wagon. He hasn't been hungry in quite a while thanks to his Ring of Sustenance **
(9) GM: (5 sp/day/person)
(11) Kibin: (should have gone with the ioun stone...)
(14) Kaylin: (well, if you guys would like to find me some rocks, I can make you a bunch of meat.)
** (11) Kibin walks over to the standard rations, sniffing them. **
(11) Kibin: (does this store sell general stuff, like backpacks?)
(9) GM: (in character, they don't know you know how to do that)
(9) GM: (Yep)
(14) Kaylin: (oops)
(9) GM: Kibin - they don't smell tasty.
(14) Kaylin: I have knowledge of how to turn stone to flesh, I could provide some sustenance, especially for our lupine companion.
(9) GM: Kibin: You do, however, smell something edible, if not tasty, over in the section where a big sighn reads "Food for Riding Dogs"
(13) Elorin: I wonder how much a butcher would pay for that sort of service
** (11) Kibin comments, "I vote for stone to flesh." **
** (14) Kaylin buys 3 GP worth of rations and put them in her bag of holding **
(14) Kaylin: (that's 6 day's worth, correct?)
** (12) Derrel will stick with rations. **
(9) GM: (Kaylin - yep)
(12) Derrel: (...Mystery meat...)
(14) Kaylin: (it's spam's revenge)
(11) Kibin: (at least the only edible food for you isn't dog food)
(13) Elorin: (until Prestidigitation comes along and makes it all taste good)
(9) GM: (return of artificial flavoring?)
(11) Kibin: (kaylin knows the spell prestidigation...)
(14) Kaylin: (I do *wink*)
(11) Kibin: (ANYWAY...)
(12) Derrel: (FEAR!)
(9) GM: Kibin - you also notice a few mules and donkeys that smell tasty...
** (11) Kibin says, "A backpack for me might be useful, seeing how I don't fit in my old one anymore..." **
(9) GM: This shopkeeper, being of a more practical chap, looks in the back and pulls out what appears to be a pack saddle for a riding dog.
(12) Derrel: (And everyone stares at the talking wolf?)
(9) GM: The patrons, however, sit there staring.
(9) GM: The shopkeeper says "5 gp"
** (14) Kaylin decides to buy an additional 10 rations, and places them in the BoH too **
(9) GM: (5 gp)
(9) GM: The shoppkeeper takes Kaylin's 5 gp for the rations.
** (11) Kibin looks over to Derrel, since he probally has his money..." **
(14) Kaylin: (I should have 375 GP now?)
(14) Kaylin: (er, 675)
** (12) Derrel hands over the requested cash **
(12) Derrel: (RP only, since it's actually on Kibins' sheet)
(9) GM: And the shoppkeeper hands Derrel the pack saddle.
(11) Kibin: (and i guess the money is placed in the pack...)
(12) Derrel: (And the pack is placed on the dog)
(9) GM: (weighs 7.5 lbs)
(11) Kibin: (WOLF! not dog)
(12) Derrel: (Er...Wolf)
(14) Kaylin: (ah, so that's why you have a wolfie along)
(14) Kaylin: (pack animal :) )
(12) Derrel: (Uh, no. Reincarnation)
(14) Kaylin: (that too :P )
(12) Derrel: (The spell)
** (11) Kibin suggests to Derrel, "Um, I won't need it all the time, so leave it in the wagon?" **
(12) Derrel: (Kibin wanted to be a wolf. Don't ask me why)
(11) Kibin: (lesser of 1d100 evils)
** (12) Derrel puts the pack in the wagon. **
(13) Elorin: (Next time someone dies, get me 5000 gp of diamonds and I'll cast Raise Dead)
(11) Kibin: (i could either be something completly random... or i could be something that i can at least live with)
(11) Kibin: (next time someone dies, i know they're going to be disintergrated)
(12) Derrel: (Oh, you are completely random. :D)
(12) Derrel: (Rule 0! Rule 0!)
** (11) Kibin waits till everyone else is done shopping, and follows them out. **
** (11) Kibin glances at the patrons, who are probally still staring at him... **
(13) Elorin: (him, and the localized fog bank sitting just outside)
** (14) Kaylin walks back to the wagon **
(9) GM: After a few minutes, noting that the wild thing doesn't appear to be an immediate threat, the bystanders go about their buisiness ... other than a few young children you try petting the big dog.
(9) GM: The wrong way.
(14) Kaylin: (aww, cute)
** (11) Kibin gets back into the wagon before any more children come along... **
(9) GM: Jason, seeing that everyone is done shopping for now, walks into the wagon, chest now at the level of the driver's seat.
(12) Derrel: (You know, what with familiars, animal companions, shape-shifted druids and what-not, hunting must be pretty perilous)
(12) Derrel: (Probably one reason why agriculture developed)
(14) Kaylin: (lol)
(11) Kibin: (hehe)
(11) Kibin: (people don't hunt wolves)
(11) Kibin: (usually)
(14) Kaylin: (The deer you kill for food today will come back and cast Disintegrate on you tomorrow)
(12) Derrel: (Actually, in the middle ages, wolf hunting was both a noble sport and an obligation)
(9) GM: (actually, in many civilized areas, wolves were systemically wiped out....)
(11) Kibin: (okay, i think the GM has his random encounter planned out)
** (11) Kibin asks the party, "What about that baron we captured?" **
(9) GM: You hear the baron snoring, unconscious, in the back of the wagon.
(14) Kaylin: Do we have any idea of where this scryer might be residing?
(12) Derrel: "Take him to the proper authorities."
(12) Derrel: (There should be someone with jurisdiction)
(14) Kaylin: Who is this lout?
(12) Derrel: "None at all, besides somewhere here."
** (11) Kibin comments, "Wasn't the authorities the baron?" **
(12) Derrel: "A tyrant and murderer, it seems."
(9) GM: Jason: (to Kaylin): A cave somewhere. So far, every time we have found his lair, he abandoned it that day.
(14) Kaylin: We should execute him now.
(14) Kaylin: (go chaotic good!)
(12) Derrel: "The baron is not the highest authority in the land. And we do not have authority to execute judgement."
** (11) Kibin agrees. "I support the wizard..." **
(9) GM: (other than the term used for kill, yes; CG right and proper)
(11) Kibin: (i'm neutral, so meh)
(14) Kaylin: If the wolf does not mind, we could save a few rations...
(12) Derrel: "I must object to this course of action."
(14) Kaylin: (bloody LG)
(14) Kaylin: Very well. I shall control myself for the time being.
(12) Derrel: (Bloody CG)
** (11) Kibin growls at Derrel, but lets it go. **
(9) GM: Jason: I suppose we could hand him over to the populace for trial.
** (13) Elorin cares little for the laws of civilization, but will go along with the holy man's decision **
(12) Derrel: "Is there any government left here?"
(9) GM: Jason: I'm not sure - ask around.
(9) GM: (Gather Information)
(11) Kibin: (i think my gather information check would be kinda useless...)
(9) GM: (or Knoweledge(local))
(14) Kaylin: (I only have 8 ranks in Gather Info and 12 in local knowledge)
(9) GM: (Knoweledge(Nobility and Royalty) would also work.)
(11) Kibin: (then do [1d20+12)
(12) Derrel: (Can't seem to find the right character sheet)
(14) Kaylin: [1d20 + 12] -> [16,12] = (28)
(9) GM: (don't forget the appropriet stat modifier)
(11) Kibin: (yeah, just use existing knowledge)
(11) Kibin: (lets say thats local knowledge)
(13) Elorin: (that's included. She actually has 5 ranks)
(11) Kibin: (and she only has 5 ranks, the rest is from intelligence)
(14) Kaylin: (oh, right)
(11) Kibin: (so if that succedes, then no hours wasted)
(12) Derrel: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+4] -> [20,4] = (24)
(14) Kaylin: (natural 20! woo)
whispering to Kaylin, You find that there isn't much of a remaining government in the area - the previous rulers all died in the same mystery fire, then the baron in the back of the wagon took over, and all that's left of the original governance is local mayors and the like
** (11) Kibin just stays in the nice cozy wagon. **
whispering to Derrel, You find that there isn't much of a remaining government in the area - the previous rulers all died in the same mystery fire, then the baron in the back of the wagon took over, and all that's left of the original governance is local mayors and the like
(9) GM: Also, Derrel spends [1d3+1] -> [3,1] = (4) hours asking around, and [1d3] -> [1] = (1) gp buying drinks for his informants.
(12) Derrel (whispering): Do I find out anything about the mayor here?
(14) Kaylin: (ahh alcohol. the instrument of diplomacy)
whispering to Derrel, yep - that he has a reputation for being quite a stickler for the rules, but extremely even-handed in all judgements.
(11) Kibin: (and he finds out?)
(9) GM: (HE found out - via whispering)
(13) Elorin: (and Kaylin remembers...?)
(12) Derrel: "It seems we can simply hand him over to the mayor here."
(14) Kaylin: (if I find stuff out like that, I'm allowed to tell these guys, right?)
(9) GM: (She also found out via whispering - it's their respective information, which they can share, or not, shre truethfully, or not, at their discrection)
(14) Kaylin: (ah)
(9) GM: (Grr! Ay Kant spel!)
(12) Derrel: (Tpyo Faree!)
(14) Kaylin: if we hand him over to the mayor, I say we should make certain that proper justice is meted out.
** (11) Kibin nods in agreement. **
(12) Derrel: "Then you'll be witnesses at the trial?"
(14) Kaylin: if it does not poes too great of a delay in our search, yes.
(9) GM: Jason: I get the impression they are new to the area - what could they have seen?
(14) Kaylin: (grr, I can't spell either)
(13) Elorin: "I would be useless as a witness"
(9) GM: You note that the baron has stopped snoring....
(14) Kaylin: (oops, forgot that :( )
(14) Kaylin: Though, I am not familiar with his acts.
(14) Kaylin: (Can I kick him for fun?)
(12) Derrel: "Then let us simply hand him over" looks at the baron with sword half-drawn "And trust to the fact that nobody likes him very much."
(12) Derrel: "Quite simply, he has done nothing, really, to us. On the other hand, he's terrorized this town for years. What would you enforce that they would not?"
** (11) Kibin adds, "One of his summoned creatures killed me..." **
(12) Derrel: "And you're alive."
(14) Kaylin: (bite him)
(12) Derrel: "About a hundred people here are not."
(9) GM: Jason: At his expense, technically.
(14) Kaylin: Very well, I shall trust to the inhabitant's judgement.
** (11) Kibin replies to Derrel, "No thanks to you..." **
(12) Derrel: (Oh, will you let go of that already?)
(9) GM: (So... going looking for the local mayor, or what? I've lost track of concensus)
(11) Kibin: (guess so)
(11) Kibin: (derrel, just part of the PC interaction, and roleplaying part : )
(11) Kibin: (i won't coup de grace you in your sleep, though)
** (12) Derrel hands over the baron to the mayor. **
(9) GM: You find the mayor.
(9) GM: Mayor: Greetings.
(9) GM: The mayor looks at the baron with utmost hate in his eyes.
(12) Derrel: (Yeah, sorry, just getting irratating)
(14) Kaylin: I trust you will reward this filthy vermin properly?
(9) GM: Mayor: Unfrotunately, much as I would like to run his trial, I'm not qualified. Whatever he may have done, and however he got there, the succession, such as it was, followed the book for what was proven, and he is the highest authority in the land. Only the gods may judge him.
(14) Kaylin: (oh great)
whispering to Derrel, Warned you....
(13) Elorin: There is no higher authority we could take him to?
(12) Derrel: (ARGH!)
(13) Elorin: A duke or king's court, perhaps?
(14) Kaylin: (how about we takke him outside the town and fry him)
** (13) Elorin has no objections to that course of action, but is not about to say it in front of the mayor **
(12) Derrel: (Alingment violation for a paladin)
(9) GM: Mayor: Well, he is nominally a part of the second estate. You may have better luck with the clergy.
(12) Derrel: (Or something)
(14) Kaylin: (bah, you could be .. umm... busy)
** (12) Derrel takes him to the clergy) **
(11) Kibin: (lawful just means you keep your word, follow GOOD laws...)
(12) Derrel: (Obey lawfull authority)
(12) Derrel: (...)
(11) Kibin: (okay, they respect authority)
(14) Kaylin: (anyways, now we're talking to a bunch of guys in frocks)
(11) Kibin: (RESPECT, doesn't mean follow)
(12) Derrel: (Yes - So we try to get him killed the legal way)
(9) GM: The priests look at each other, shrug, pull out longbows, shoot him repeatedly, then go back to their gardening, all without saying a single word.
(11) Kibin: (while you peopel do that i'll go get supper)
(14) Kaylin: (WOOHOOO)
(13) Elorin: (lol)
** (12) Derrel shrugs and goes back to adventuring. **
** (14) Kaylin heads back to the adventure, cackling **
** (12) Derrel cannot quite cackle. However, he does seem satisfied with a job ended well. **
(14) Kaylin: (Actually, I shouldn't cackle.. it'll make me sound crone-ish)
(12) Derrel: (Lawfull alignment worries about means)
** (11) Kibin smiles. **
(14) Kaylin: (brb)
(11) Kibin: (okay, that's kinda funny)
(12) Derrel: (In RL, I can cackle quite well)
(11) Kibin: (much funnier than the mayor :D)
(12) Derrel: (Although it's hard on the throat)
(9) GM: On the way back to the wagon, you encounter a bunch of angry farmers with pitchfroks and torches, screaming for the blood of the wolves that have been preying on their livestock.
(9) GM: Kibin - make a hide check
(9) GM: [1d20+8] -> [14,8] = (22)
(9) GM: (unless, of course, you don't wish to hide....)
(9) GM: (Ping?)
(11) Kibin (exit): 16:10
(9) GM: Bout what I thought. Hrm...
(12) Derrel (exit): 16:11
(13) Elorin (exit): 16:11
(14) Kaylin (exit): 16:11
(20) Kibin (enter): 16:11
(9) GM: And now the link should be back on line, if everyone didn't time out in the meanwhile - which they did. Grr.
(20) Kibin: (oookay)
** Sorry, don't understand what a /rle is...
(20) Kibin: (anything after i said much funner than the mayor, i missed)
(21) Kaylin (enter): 16:12
(20) Kibin: (well, i think you need to get your connection checked over)
(9) GM: (yeah, would seem so.)
(9) GM: (Still needing Derrel and Elorin to notice the disconnect)
(22) Elorin (enter): 16:13
(9) GM: (One more....)
(23) Derrel (enter): 16:15
(21) Kaylin: Str check: [1d20-5] -> [13,-5] = (8)
(22) Elorin: (did anything happen after Derrel's comment on cackling well in RL?)
(21) Kaylin: (oops, sorry about that)
(9) GM: On the way back to the wagon, you encounter a bunch of angry farmers with pitchfroks and torches, screaming for the blood of the wolves that have been preying on their livestock.
(23) Derrel: (Not that I saw)
(21) Kaylin: (ooh, intense)
(9) GM: Kibin - you hear them coming; make a hide check, if you like
(23) Derrel: (Buh?)
** (20) Kibin sneaks into cover, in the dark alleyways. **
(20) Kibin: [1d20+20] -> [13,20] = (33)
(9) GM: [1d20+8] -> [8,8] = (16)
(9) GM: Fortunately, they don't see Kibin....
(9) GM: Lead farmer (pointing at Derrel): You! Do you know where that filthy pack of wolves went?
(20) Kibin: (brb a second, pizza)
(23) Derrel: "I havn't seen any pack of wolves, filthy or not."
(21) Kaylin: (they went to Domino's)
(23) Derrel: "What is this about?"
(20) Kibin: (back)
(9) GM: Lead Farmer: Wolves have been raiding our herds lately, and we just heard a rumor that there was a wolf in town! We are coming to purge our hills of the menace! Those wolves won't leave enough for us to eat if they keep this up!
** (20) Kibin is hiding, listening in to the conversation... **
(23) Derrel: (Is one of the characters a druid?)
(23) Derrel: "How do you know it's wolves?"
(21) Kaylin: (I'm gonna leave this one to the good guy)
(9) GM: (not my place to say....)
(9) GM: Other Farmer: I've seen um in action!
(9) GM: Third Farmer: I've seen what little they leave behind! They must be stopped!
(23) Derrel: "What did you see?"
(9) GM: Other Farmer: Big wolves! Big as Bessy! Dark red fur, ran in and killed poor Bessy! My best milker....
(23) Derrel: "Red fur? Perhaps some unnatural curse?"
** (21) Kaylin tries to look non-magical **
(23) Derrel: (Hope nobody minds if I volenterr us.)
(9) GM: Farmer 3: There were eight of them. Quite a curse, that....
(23) Derrel: (But...Plot has come calling)
(21) Kaylin: (hehe)
(9) GM: (Technically, you are required to do so.... read the Paladin's code of conduct)
(20) Kibin: (can you say conflict of interest? :P)
(23) Derrel: "Well, I am a paladin and it is my duty to take care of curses. I could look into this situation..."
(23) Derrel: (I'm supposed to protect innocents. It's not clear yet who those are.)
(9) GM: Lead Farmer: You do that! Meanwhile, we shall go arrange a watch, as there obviously aren't any wolves here abouts....
(23) Derrel: "I don't see any myself."
(21) Kaylin: (liar)
(20) Kibin: (that is true, derrel IS lying)
(20) Kibin: (or not, hmmm)
(21) Kaylin: (almost... Kibin is behind you or something)
(23) Derrel: (Not at all. I couldn't possibly roll high enough to see Kibin)
(9) GM: (He's not lying - Kibin's in hiding - he is stretching teh truth a tad, though....)
(20) Kibin: (i'm da uber stealth person :D)
(21) Kaylin: (oh well, he's becoming more sensible)
(23) Derrel: (My paladin's always been sensible. How many paladins do you see traveling with undead?)
** (20) Kibin wonders how he's going to escape... **
(23) Derrel: (He's simply LG)
(23) Derrel: (Not Stupid Good)
(20) Kibin: (derrel, you have a -1 modifier to intelligence)
(20) Kibin: (no, you're lawful stupid :D)
(21) Kaylin: (ouch)
(23) Derrel: (Yeah - But that has nothing to do with alignment)
(23) Derrel: (/me whaps Ashton)
(23) Derrel: (And who just saved your hide?)
(21) Kaylin: (/me continues to look like a non-magical person)
(20) Kibin: (jason?)
(9) GM: Jason just stands there.
(9) GM: The farmers, momentarily satisfied, wander off.
(23) Derrel: *Mutter* "Anyone have an invisibility spell?"
(21) Kaylin: Sorry.
** (20) Kibin looks around, seeing if there's any non-frequented path to exit with. **
(9) GM: Jason: What's he need invisiblitity for?
(23) Derrel: "Well, it would help avoid any unfortunate incidents. Nobody can be perfectly stealthy all the time."
(22) Elorin: (the farmers are going away, so hiding probably isn't necessary any more)
(20) Kibin: (there's all the OTHER people...)
(23) Derrel: (Doesn't mean we won't need it)
(23) Derrel: (That too)
(9) GM: For that matter, if we get a leash, we could probably make him look like a tracking dog ... perhaps start at one of the known kill locations.
(9) GM: (Jason talking, by the way)
(23) Derrel: "Sounds good to me."
(21) Kaylin: If we paused to go shopping, I could add Invisibility to my spellbook.
(20) Kibin: (and wait till morning to prepare it...)
(21) Kaylin: (well, what time IS it? late afternoon?)
(9) GM: Mid-morning
(21) Kaylin: (I'm an early riser? grr)
(22) Elorin: A tracking dog in obviously expensive custom made armor? That would look mighty strange, but I suppose it could fool people
** (20) Kibin looks over to Jason in the shadows, knowing that he probally could see him since he doesn't need light to see... **
(9) GM: Jason: A combat-trained dog, with tracking abilities, then.
whispering to Kibin, You notice Jason is very careful to not look directly in your direction....
(22) Elorin: Ok then, does he agree to the indignity of being held on a leash for public display?
(9) GM: Jason: You'll have to ask him. I'm sure he's around somewhere.
(21) Kaylin: As if he has much choice... either that or turn the town against us
** (20) Kibin looks at the wagon, hoping that Jason gets the idea. **
(21) Kaylin: (what class is Jason? I forget..)
(20) Kibin (whispering): you know i should probally do this in whispers...
(9) GM: Jason: Well, let's bring the wagon over to load up our assorted stuffs....
(9) GM: Jason heads over to the fog bank, then drives it over.
whispering to Kibin, incedentally coming right next to the spot you are hiding...
** (21) Kaylin drops the bag of holding in the back of the wagon and sets up a little corner space **
(22) Elorin: (to Jason) It was your idea, you ask him.
whispering to Kaylin, I don't believe that's been broadcast anywhere in quite some time ... and never to your character. You might get an idea from the description earleri, though.
** (20) Kibin leaps from the shadows when the fog is over him, getting in the wagon. **
(9) GM: Jason: Hop in, I'm sure he isn't particularly angry at me at the moment, although he may just want to hide in the wagon continuously.
** (23) Derrel gets in the wagon. **
(9) GM: Jason: So Kibin, what do you think of the idea? You may have to go out in public sooner or later.
** (20) Kibin grumbles. "Fine..." **
(21) Kaylin: But your fur will need to be clean.
(21) Kaylin: Just as an added indication that you aren't wild...
(9) GM: Jason: So, who gets the leash? And should we find some way so that it will break if tugged on strongly?
** (20) Kibin sighs, laying down in the wagon. **
(9) GM: Jason: I obviously can't carry the other end....
(21) Kaylin: I will if no-one else can or desires to.
(23) Derrel: (NPC Derrel - I have to help make dinner)
(9) GM: (Send over a copy of the current character sheet, please.)
(22) Elorin: (I was going to order pizza, but it seems the streets around my dorm are closed for the football game. I'll have to go eat at the dining hall real quick)
(22) Elorin: (sending sheet...)
(22) Elorin has sent you a tree node...
(9) GM: Recieved. Derrel is NPC'd ... on a slightly older character sheet, as Narf was gone when I asked for it, as is Elorin, on a more up-to date sheet.
(9) GM: Jason pulls a few GP out of his chest, then goes to the store, grabbs a leash, and returns.
(20) Kibin: (i guess that leaves kaylin and me the only PCs?)
(20) Kibin: (and jason, but he's more of a NPC)
(9) GM: (Yep)
** (20) Kibin is just watching the people go by... **
(21) Kaylin: Do we know where to start looking for these wolves?
(9) GM: Jason: Well, if we can track down those farmers again, sure. They didn't look like this happened a month ago.
** (20) Kibin comments, "I have a sensitive nose..." **
(21) Kaylin: good doggy
** (20) Kibin growls at Kaylin. **
(9) GM: Jason: So, any ideas on how to make this leash break if you tug on it?
(9) GM: (Disable Device roll - at -5 for instructing others on how to do it, DC 20)
** (20) Kibin says, "I could, if I had hands..." **
(9) GM: Jason: Don't look at me. My hands are long since dirt.
** (20) Kibin looks over to Kaylin. **
(21) Kaylin: I'm not particularly muscular
(9) GM: (all you need is something sharp....)
** (20) Kibin says, "That won't matter, just need to weaken the leash enough. " **
(21) Kaylin: if we cut it thin at a few points, it'll break easily enough.
** (20) Kibin instructs Kaylin on how to do it. **
(20) Kibin: [1d20+17] -> [13,17] = (30)
(21) Kaylin: (nice)
** (21) Kaylin does so **
(20) Kibin: (sweet, so i can instruct other people? this might not be so bad...)
(9) GM: With a bit of time, Kibin manages to instruct Kaylin on exactly where to stab the leash so that it will break quite easily if tugged, without being obviously damaged (spot check DC 25 to notice)
(9) GM: Kaylin - make a DC 10 dex check.
(9) GM: (no rush, you may take 10 if you choose)
(21) Kaylin: (ages since I've done this... d20?)
(9) GM: (yes, d20)
(9) GM: (+ your dex modifier - something like [1d20+2] -> [11,2] = (13))
(21) Kaylin: [1d20 +2] -> [4,2] = (6)
(21) Kaylin: (I liked your roll better)
(9) GM: (the server put in the stuff after the -> .... but Kaylin fumbles and cuts the leash.)
(21) Kaylin: (crap)
** (20) Kibin wonders something. "Can't you just use an illusion?" **
(9) GM: Jason: Not in my repetiour.
(9) GM: Elorin: Nor mine.
(21) Kaylin: I do not believe I have knowledge of how to do this
** (20) Kibin says, "Um, what about a scroll?" **
(9) GM: Jason: Doable .... let's see...
(21) Kaylin: let's go shopping! whee
(20) Kibin: I guess I should just stay in the wagon...
(9) GM: Jason: I could get another leash to try.... or we could just have you follow someone closely and act well trained.
(9) GM: (e.g., bluff vs. sense motive to anyone who cares about the distinction ...)
(21) Kaylin: Couldn't we use a Silent Illusion
** (20) Kibin shrugs. "That works, I guess..." **
(20) Kibin: I'm a lot smarter than any other wolf, so it's not like it would be hard...
(9) GM: Jason: Sure, if you want to be the one thinking about it forever ...
(21) Kaylin: very well, that approach sounds the most efficient in use of resources.
(21) Kaylin: I don't fancy the idea of thinking about lupine fashion accessories
(9) GM: Jason: Well, let's go track down one of those farmers, then.
(23) Derrel: (Back)
(9) GM: (Narf - could you send me a current copy of Derrel's character sheet?)
(20) Kibin: (welcome, the leash idea didn't go too well)
(9) GM: (Kaylin isn't the most dextrous)
(21) Kaylin: (yah, some of us with low dexterity had to do the dirty work)
(23) Derrel has sent you a tree node...
(23) Derrel: (I still have +1 skill point to spend. Holding on to it, as it's my only one)
(9) GM: (got it)
(23) Derrel has sent you a tree node...
(21) Kaylin: Where do you think these farmers will be? Bar?
(20) Kibin: (two hours left)
(20) Kibin: Wouldn't the farm be a more reasonable place to look?
(9) GM: Jason: Possilby - especially those who have been wiped out.
(21) Kaylin: An angry mob, going back to their farms?
(23) Derrel: "We could simply ask around town about these attacks."
** (20) Kibin stays silent, and lets them go on. **
(21) Kaylin: Perhaps I should do that?
(20) Kibin: Let's just ask the farmers...
(23) Derrel: "Sure."
(22) Elorin: (back)
(23) Derrel: "I try to have little conflict with angry mobs. Never sure what they'll do."
(23) Derrel: (Contact, rather)
(9) GM: (both work....)
** (20) Kibin lays down in the wagon and starts sleeping. **
(9) GM: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [18,10] = (28)
(23) Derrel: (So...We ask around and?)
(23) Derrel: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+4] -> [18,4] = (22)
(21) Kaylin: ( +10?)
(9) GM: Jason and Derrel ask about....
(20) Kibin: (he gets a godly charisma bonus)
(21) Kaylin: (ahh)
(23) Derrel: (Who is a remarkably knowledgeable person)
(9) GM: [2d3] -> [3,1] = (4), [2d3] -> [2,2] = (4)
(9) GM: Four hours, Jason and Derrel each spend 2 gp on drinks for others....
(21) Kaylin: (by now it's around 2 PM or so, right?)
(21) Kaylin: (didn't they spend 4 hours gathering info earlier?)
whispering to Derrel, You find the name and directions to the farm of a farm that has been recently raided. It's nearby.
(9) GM: (Yep)
(21) Kaylin: (wow, we're early risers... I don't get concentration penalties for being awake this early, do I? :P )
(9) GM: (Nah)
** (23) Derrel tells everyone about the farm that's been recently raided. **
** (20) Kibin continues sleeping till something wakes him up. **
** (21) Kaylin lies back and uses Kibin as a pillow **
(22) Elorin: Well, is our "tracking dog" actually skilled at tracking?
** (20) Kibin yelps as Kaylin lays on him, and gets away. **
(20) Kibin: Yes, I'm kinda skilled.
(21) Kaylin: (oh :( no furry pillow for me)
(9) GM: Jason prods the horses into taking the fog bank over to the appropriet farm.
(22) Elorin: Then it seems the logical place to start would be to track the wolves from the most recently raided farm
(21) Kaylin: (by the way, do I actually have any spells prepared for today?)
(22) Elorin: (you should have your standard set prepared)
(20) Kibin: (uh)
(9) GM: Make the entries now, and you can.
(21) Kaylin: (ok)
(21) Kaylin: (oops, never uploaded the standard set)
(20) Kibin: (do we have to wait for her?_
(21) Kaylin: (*goes to post that*
(21) Kaylin: (nah, go ahead)
(20) Kibin: (okay then, i guess we continue on)
(9) GM: At the farm, you find what little remains of the farmer's herd - scattered bones and a few scraps of uneaten meat. The bones are quite broken.
(21) Kaylin: (Kibin, have yourself a feast :) )
** (20) Kibin asks, boefore everyone gets out of the wagon, "Who's going to be my supposed handler?" **
(22) Elorin: Derrel, you know him best
(9) GM: (still online?)
** (20) Kibin looks over to Derrel. **
(9) GM: (looks like)
(20) Kibin: (i think derrel died)
** (20) Kibin pokes Narf() **
(9) GM: (or not.... hmm... can't really by entirely my end....)
** (23) Derrel does the supposed handler thing **
** (20) Kibin isn't really happy, but meh. It works. **
(21) Kaylin: (OK, uploaded standard spell list)
(20) Kibin: (it's going to be funny when you use those black tentacles :D)
** (23) Derrel follows the 'dog' around as he tracks **
(9) GM: Kibin - make a bluff check [1d20+8] -> [14,8] = (22)
(20) Kibin: [1d20+15] -> [8,15] = (23)
(9) GM: Also a Survival check.
(22) Elorin: (You forgot bonus spell slots, Kaylin)
(20) Kibin: [1d20+9] -> [18,9] = (27)
(21) Kaylin: (oops, how many do I get? I think I forgot those for my spellbook too)
(20) Kibin: (don't forget, picking stuff up by scent is a +4 bonus)
(22) Elorin: (no bonus for spells known, but +1 7th, 6th, 5th, and 4th, and +2 3rd, 2nd, and 1st)
whispering to Kibin, You find tracks, lots of tracks, big tracks. Those paw prints are the size of your head.... they head north, into the forest.
(21) Kaylin: (awesome! *hugs Elorin*)
(20) Kibin (whispering): do i pick up a scent i can track instead?
(21) Kaylin: (/me edits post)
(20) Kibin: (you can prepare two of the same spell you know)
whispering to Kibin, You do indeed pick up a scent with them ... and it follows the tracks exactly.
(22) Elorin: (don't forget you can have multiples of the same spell)
** (20) Kibin tracks the creatures by scent north, into the forest. **
(23) Derrel: (Guess what - You can prepare multiples of spells! :D )
(21) Kaylin: (goody)
(9) GM: Jason follows.... after first tying up the horses so they won't go anywhere.
(21) Kaylin: (+2 to level 0 as well?)
(9) GM: (funny - you don't get bonus spells at level 0, althuogh you can prepare a 0th level spell in a 1st level slot if you like)
(22) Elorin: (no bonus 0-level spells)
(23) Derrel: (That's because there's a few 0-level that are rather usefull)
(20) Kibin: (anyway... we TRACK)
(21) Kaylin: (ah)
(23) Derrel: (I don't think they wanted wizards to have too many True Strikes, for example)
(9) GM: (True Strike is 1st.....)
(22) Elorin: (was 0 in 3.0. Not anymore)
(20) Kibin: (you follow the wolfie into the forest)
(9) GM: Following the tracks into the forest ... anyone being stealthy about it?
(22) Elorin: (with the "handler" in the lead)
(23) Derrel: (So it is.)
(23) Derrel: Hide Skill Check: [1d20+1-7] -> [18,1,-7] = (12) (includes Armor Penalty of -7)
(20) Kibin: (why not? :P)
(23) Derrel: Move Silently Skill Check: [1d20+1-7] -> [12,1,-7] = (6) (includes Armor Penalty of -7)
(23) Derrel: (Not really...)
(20) Kibin: Hide: [1d20+20] -> [12,20] = (32)
(22) Elorin: Hide Skill Check: [1d20+5-2] -> [19,5,-2] = (22) (includes Armor Penalty of -2)
(22) Elorin: Move Silently Skill Check: [1d20+5-2] -> [19,5,-2] = (22) (includes Armor Penalty of -2)
(20) Kibin: Move Silently: [1d20+20] -> [7,20] = (27)
(9) GM: [1d20+7] -> [7,7] = (14)
(9) GM: [1d20+7] -> [20,7] = (27)
(20) Kibin: (my stealth skills are unmatched, it's official)
(9) GM: Kibin: Reroll move silently.
(9) GM: [1d20+7] -> [9,7] = (16)
(20) Kibin: [1d20+20] -> [20,20] = (40)
(20) Kibin: (you sure? : )]
(21) Kaylin: (wow)
(23) Derrel: (Dinner - NPC Derrel if you need to)
(9) GM: [8d20] -> [17,2,17,8,15,15,8,10] = (92)
(9) GM: Everyone, make spot checks.
(20) Kibin: (okay...
(22) Elorin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [6,10] = (16)
(20) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [7,11] = (18)
(9) GM: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [18,10] = (28)
(22) Elorin: (and that's with no ranks :) )
(20) Kibin: (wait, what?)
(20) Kibin: (DUDE! how much wisdom do you have?)
(22) Elorin: (+8. I also have +2 racial)
(9) GM: You see them coming, they see you coming. Roll vs. Initiative.
(21) Kaylin: [1d20 + 4] -> [15,4] = (19)
(22) Elorin: (from elf)
(9) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [3,4] = (7)
(20) Kibin: (see WHAT coming?)
(20) Kibin: [1d20+5] -> [3,5] = (8)
(21) Kaylin: (oops, forgot racial.. that'd make it 21)
(9) GM: [1d20+2] -> [6,2] = (8)
(20) Kibin: (TENTACLES OF FORCED INTRUSION! :D)
(22) Elorin: Initiative: [1d20+5] -> [1,5] = (6)
(21) Kaylin: (got 2 Tentacles ready to rip)
(20) Kibin: (or tear0
(22) Elorin: (No, no, it "Evan's Spiked Tentacles of Forced Intrusion")
(9) GM: Dex check: [1d20+1] -> [11,1] = (12)
(20) Kibin: (hehe)
(20) Kibin: (uh, i think it's time for buttkicking?)
(21) Kaylin: (whoa, cool)
(20) Kibin: (i look like a smaller version, without the saddle, or the big teeth on my bottom jaw, and a brown color...)
(21) Kaylin: (I have a feeling it's tentacle time)
(20) Kibin: (crap, 4?_
(20) Kibin: (5?!?!)
(20) Kibin: (6!!!!)
(21) Kaylin: (eeek)
(21) Kaylin: (definetly tentacle time)
(21) Kaylin: (umm, going a lttle nuts?)
(9) GM: (that's 8, right?)
(21) Kaylin: (yes)
(21) Kaylin: (help)
(23) Derrel: (Now, food...)
(20) Kibin: (EVAN'S SPIKED TENTACLES OF FORCED INTRUSION! comeon)
(21) Kaylin: (I need to cast Black Tentacles...)
(21) Kaylin: (trap as many as possible)
(20) Kibin: (chain lightning, anyone?)
(21) Kaylin: (or that)
(20) Kibin: (cone of cold, anyone?)
(21) Kaylin: (or that..)
(20) Kibin: (baleful polymorph? :D
(21) Kaylin: (tell me what you want me to cast :D )
(9) GM: Kibin - re-roll intiative - tiebreaker
(9) GM: [1d20+2] -> [14,2] = (16)
(20) Kibin: [1d20+5] -> [17,5] = (22)
(20) Kibin: (i think i pwned whoever rolled that)
(9) GM: Kaylin, Derrel, Kibin, Wolves, Jason, Elorin
(20) Kibin: (INTRUSION! INTRUSION!)
(22) Elorin: (Assuming each square on the grid is 5 ft, is the pack really THAT spread out?)
(9) GM: Also - kibin, kaylin: Icons?
(20) Kibin: (icons?)
(21) Kaylin: (seems reasonable for a few of those wolves)
(20) Kibin: (uh, just steal a dire wolf icon? o.O)
(9) GM: (the wolves are to scale...)
(20) Kibin: (except smaller...)
(21) Kaylin: (erm...)
(21) Kaylin: (how big IS a dire wolf?))
(20) Kibin: (and with my name)
(20) Kibin: (large)
(9) GM: (Large - which means 2x2 on the combat grid)
(20) Kibin: (i've read the entire SRD, i know this stuff :F
(9) GM: (they are longer than they are tall, however, as they go around on all fours, so it works with 2x3)
(20) Kibin: (hmmm)
(20) Kibin: (what's that for?
(9) GM: (Kibin - just sent you the picture - make sure to reduce the image size to 10 pixels if you are using it for your character)
(20) Kibin: (no clue how to place that on the map)
(9) GM: (Right-click, send to map, then select image, right click, properties)
(20) Kibin: (ooops)
(9) GM: (and move it to about the same place as the party)
(20) Kibin: (uh, can you fix that?)
(22) Elorin: Kaylin, if you don't have a mini yet, http://rivendell.fortunecity.com/spell/1066/Miniatures/Fantasy has a bunch
(20) Kibin: (oooooh i get it now)
(21) Kaylin: (ok)
(22) Elorin: (since you were tracking, you should be in front, Kibin)
(9) GM: Derrel, the nominal handler, right beside...
(9) GM: Kaylin, Derrel, Kibin, Wolves, Jason, Elorin
(20) Kibin: (me thinks it's good)
(20) Kibin: (while kaylin gets a miniature... brb in a minute)
(22) Elorin: (they're too spread out to hit many with one spell. I'd suggest hasteing the party)
(9) GM: Well, for now, we can use a black dot for Kaylin.
(20) Kibin: (back)
(21) Kaylin: (that work?)
(22) Elorin: (yes)
(9) GM: Yep - your turn, too, as you won init
(20) Kibin: (not much different from a black dot)
(21) Kaylin: (bah)
(9) GM: (on this scale, anyway)
(21) Kaylin: (if I cast Haste, can I do the whole party?)
(20) Kibin: (EVAN'S SPIKED TENTACLES OF FORCED INTRUSION!)
(20) Kibin: (yes, if we're all within 30 feet)
(22) Elorin: (move a little bit closer, and yes)
(9) GM: (everyone's in range)
** (21) Kaylin casts Haste on the entire party **
(20) Kibin: (meh i wanted more blammage)
(21) Kaylin: (later, when they're close together)
(9) GM: Derrel... charge!
** (23) Derrel charges **
(9) GM: +4 Longsword Attack #1 Attack Roll: [1d20+19] -> [1,19] = (20)===> DMG: [1d8+4+2] -> [3,4,2] = (9)
(9) GM: (ah, you're back)
(22) Elorin: (grr. Now I have to move to get Point Blank bonuses, and that would mean no full attack :( )
(23) Derrel: (Pizza is good)
(21) Kaylin: (rolled a 1? ouch :D )
(9) GM: Unfrotunately, Derrel misses the Big Wolf.
(9) GM: Kibin?
(20) Kibin: (ironically he would have still hit if it wasn't a natural failure)
(23) Derrel: (The big bad wolf)
(23) Derrel: (?)
** (20) Kibin runs up and flanks the dire wolf, biting the wolf with his teeth. **
(20) Kibin: [1d20+16] -> [18,16] = (34)
(20) Kibin: [1d6+1+7d6] -> [4,1,3,3,4,6,6,4,6] = (37)
(20) Kibin: (now, is it still alive?)
(9) GM: Hit, and sneak attackable.
(21) Kaylin: (damn, that's nice damage.)
(9) GM: The wolf screams, but remains standing.
(20) Kibin: (i guess i take my free trip attempt!)
(9) GM: Yep - opposed roll
(20) Kibin: [1d20+2] -> [4,2] = (6)
(20) Kibin: (okay that sucked o.O)
(9) GM: [1d20+19] -> [5,19] = (24)
(20) Kibin: (o.O)
(9) GM: The wolf hardly even notices the tug on it's leg.
(9) GM: Wolves turn....
(21) Kaylin: (uhoh)
(20) Kibin: (i think the check modifier is only when it's trying to trip someone)
(20) Kibin: (not that it matters...)
(9) GM: Attack Roll: [1d20+11] -> [10,11] = (21) for [1d8+10] -> [3,10] = (13)
(20) Kibin: (i had a dream about this o.O)
(9) GM: The blow glances off Kibin's armor.
(9) GM: Attack Roll: [1d20+11] -> [20,11] = (31) for [1d8+10] -> [7,10] = (17)
(20) Kibin: (ooo)
(21) Kaylin: (I wonder if I should cast Displacement on someone)
(20) Kibin: (ouch, critical hit)
(9) GM: The blow lands. Opposed trip roll... [1d20+11] -> [5,11] = (16); Kibin, you get +4 for being four-legged.
(22) Elorin: (only a crit threat, and not likely to confirm)
(9) GM: Crit Confirm Roll: [1d20+11] -> [11,11] = (22) for [1d8+10] -> [7,10] = (17)
(9) GM: (not confirmed)
(20) Kibin: [1d20+5+4] -> [12,5,4] = (21)
(20) Kibin: (used dexterity instead of strength)
(20) Kibin: (4 legs rule! :D)
(20) Kibin: (i guess no critical hit)
(20) Kibin: (so it does a pathetic 17 damage)
(9) GM: Kibin - you stay standing, and take 17 damage from the blow.
(9) GM: Oh, and Derrel - make a will save at -10.
(20) Kibin: (can you keep that in your records?)
(20) Kibin: (my HP is 119)
(9) GM: Umm... I've got a bit more to track....
(22) Elorin: (could we double the size of the grid squares so mini labels don't cover up quite so much?)
(23) Derrel: Will save: [1d20+7] -> [9,7] = (16)
(23) Derrel: (6)
(9) GM: (see the little icon of the magnifying glass with a + in it? Click it a few times)
(20) Kibin: (YAY graphing calculators)
(22) Elorin: (oh)
(9) GM: Attack Roll: [1d20+10] -> [14,10] = (24) for [Bad dice format] - [1d8+09]
(9) GM: Attack Roll: [1d20+10] -> [11,10] = (21) for [1d8+9] -> [7,9] = (16)
(9) GM: The injured wolf snaps at Kibin and misses.
(20) Kibin: (dude...)
(9) GM: Attack Roll: [1d20+11] -> [14,11] = (25) for [1d8+10] -> [3,10] = (13)
(20) Kibin: (holy crud)
(9) GM: Another wolf snaps at kibin, and scrapes his armor to no effect.
(20) Kibin: (good thing you can't sqeeze any more wolfs in to attack me, lol)
(20) Kibin: (it's probally a good thing i'm immune to flanking, lol)
(23) Derrel: (What was the will save for?)
(9) GM: One of the wolves charges in and attacks the spellcaster he can smell...
(9) GM: Attack Roll: [1d20+11] -> [4,11] = (15) for [1d8+10] -> [8,10] = (18)
(9) GM: Korin, what's your AC?
(22) Elorin: (what, me?)
(22) Elorin: (32)
(9) GM: Sorry, yes - Elorin
(9) GM: The wolf's teeth scrape armor.
(22) Elorin: (15? I dodged that completely)
(20) Kibin: (so, going to sweeze any MORE wolves in to attack me?)
(9) GM: Another charges in and snaps at Kaylin
(21) Kaylin: (I feel like casting Chain Lightning into that dire wolf pack near Kibin)
(21) Kaylin: crap
(9) GM: Attack Roll: [1d20+11] -> [7,11] = (18) for [1d8+10] -> [3,10] = (13)
(22) Elorin: (I think that hits exactly)
(20) Kibin: (why does the bulk of enemies always attack me?)
(20) Kibin: (it's like i have a big sign, saying 'Come kill me!'
(21) Kaylin: (because you charge into battle)
(20) Kibin: (derrel does :P)
(21) Kaylin: (you do, it's taped on your back)
(9) GM: (1: closest; 2: major damage to one of their fellows)
(22) Elorin: (but he didn't hit)
(20) Kibin: (well, kaylin is going to do some MAJOR MAJOR damage soon)
(20) Kibin: (FORCED INTRUSION!)
(21) Kaylin: (13d6 coming up)
(9) GM: Kaylin - the last character sheet I have available on you puts your AC at 17 - that's a hit, take 13 damage.
(21) Kaylin: (baah)
(20) Kibin: (isn't that like... half of her hitpoint total?)
(9) GM: One of the wolves goes after Derrel...
(21) Kaylin: (any chance Jason could help protect me)
(9) GM: Attack Roll: [1d20+11] -> [11,11] = (22) for [1d8+10] -> [3,10] = (13)
(21) Kaylin: (nah, I've got 36 HP left)
(23) Derrel: AC: [29] -> 29
(22) Elorin: (I doubt that wolf is going to survive my four shots)
(9) GM: Which can't get it's teeth around Derrel's armor.
(20) Kibin: (if anyone of these are grappling me, i doubt they're going to last one of my sneak attacks)
(20) Kibin: (or someone ELSE grapple me, hmmm)
(9) GM: (actually, you are hasted, and have en extra attack at full bab when making a full attack, and an extra +1 dodge to ac)
(21) Kaylin: (tentacles :P )
(20) Kibin: (YAY)
(20) Kibin: (5 wolves... all together... tentacle time :D)
(9) GM: The final wolf in the sequence runs and flanks derrel for another attack....
(9) GM: Attack Roll: [1d20+11] -> [20,11] = (31) for [1d8+10] -> [2,10] = (12)
(20) Kibin: (ooo, flanking)
(23) Derrel: AC: [29] -> 29
(9) GM: Attack Roll: [1d20+11] -> [7,11] = (18) for [1d8+10] -> [8,10] = (18)
(20) Kibin: (too bad derrel has no agility to speak of :D)
(22) Elorin: (but that doesn't discriminate between friend and foe. And your two front line melee fighters are right in there with all the wolves)
(20) Kibin: (um_
(21) Kaylin: (yeah.. that's why I still think Chain Lightning is better)
(9) GM: And hits, but doesn't confirm the critical. Derrel, take 12 damage.
(21) Kaylin: (I could maul every wolf in there.)
(22) Elorin: (huh? 18 hits 29 AC?)
(20) Kibin: (no, the natural 20 did)
(9) GM: (the 18 was for confirming the crittical - it didn't)
(20) Kibin: (derrel, how much HP do you have?)
(22) Elorin: (oh, was looking at the roll after)
(23) Derrel: (100)
(22) Elorin: (sorry)
(9) GM: Jason uses TK on the wolf nearest the fragile wizard....
(21) Kaylin: (hmmph)
(9) GM: Ghost Telekenesis: Manuvers: Standard Action, Concentration: Combat Manuvers (Disarm, Trip, Grapple (Pin), Bull Rush) 12 rounds; +12 for Base Attack, +10 for dex/str due to method), Wait: [1d4] -> [1] = (1)
(21) Kaylin: (wizard_ess_, thank you very much)
(20) Kibin: (hitting the wolf dire 15, you could attack 6 wolves at once)
(20) Kibin: (the wolf attacking you is JUST within it's range)
(21) Kaylin: (cooool)
(9) GM: Touch: [1d20+22] -> [15,22] = (37), grapple: [1d20+22] -> [18,22] = (40), opposed: [1d20+15] -> [18,15] = (33)
(21) Kaylin: (so hit 15 with Chain Lightning, then branch to the rest except 18?)
(20) Kibin: (yup)
(9) GM: Touch succeeds, wolf is grappled - Jason also walks upwards a bit, out of reach.
(21) Kaylin: (eat electricity, wolves...)
(20) Kibin: (eat steaming 13d6 damage, too :D)
(9) GM: Elorin?
(22) Elorin: I 5 ft step and open up on wolf 13

(22) Elorin: If it dies before the last of those, I switch to 18
(20) Kibin: (uncomfirmed critical at the last hit too :d)
(22) Elorin: take off the 2d6 bonus if they're not evil

(22) Elorin: (crit confirmation)
(21) Kaylin: (they're neutral, aren't they?)
(9) GM: (not evil)
(20) Kibin: (like all animals, i believe)
(21) Kaylin: (and thanks for the save, Elorin)
(20) Kibin: (neutral neutral)
(22) Elorin: that's 14, 13, 12, and 36 damage
(9) GM: AC 14, 4 hits, 1 crit,
(20) Kibin: (if the AC is the same as the SRD...)
(21) Kaylin: (scary)
(21) Kaylin: (damn, that's about my maximum damage with Chain Lightning)
(20) Kibin: (not really)
(9) GM: 46 damage (crit confirmed; wolf 13 collapses with the final arrow.)
(9) GM: Kaylin?
(20) Kibin: (chain lightning does 13d6 damage per TARGET)
(22) Elorin: (I believe it's 13d6 to primary, half to secondaries)
(20) Kibin: (wolf 18 is too far away from the group)
(21) Kaylin: Chain Lightning on Wolf 15, branches to all wolves within range
(20) Kibin: (half as much, yuo)
(21) Kaylin: (yeah, half to secondaries)
(20) Kibin: (roll your big old 13d6 damage :D)
(9) GM: Roll your 13d6.
(21) Kaylin: [13d6] -> [3,4,2,3,5,4,2,1,2,3,6,6,1] = (42)

(20) Kibin: (shocking :D)
(20) Kibin: (reflex for half :P)
(22) Elorin: (Save DC is 23, I believe, more if you have spell focus (evocation) )
(20) Kibin: (not like there's any chance at all for the wolves to save)
(9) GM: 6 reflex saves.... [1d20+7] -> [2,7] = (9), [1d20+7] -> [15,7] = (22), [1d20+7] -> [19,7] = (26), [1d20+7] -> [11,7] = (18), [1d20+7] -> [12,7] = (19), [1d20+7] -> [17,7] = (24)
(20) Kibin: (meh)
(21) Kaylin: (my focus is on transmutation)
(20) Kibin: (two of them made their save : (
(21) Kaylin: (damn)
(20) Kibin: (ooo, poly me into a dragon next round! :D)
(21) Kaylin: (hehehe)
(20) Kibin: (or turn a wolf into a bunny!!!)
(20) Kibin: (or sheep, now THAT would be ironic)
(23) Derrel: (Turn Kibin into a bunny! :D )
(9) GM: Wolves 12 and 15 save; 12 takes 10, all others take 21.
(20) Kibin: (i still get sneak attacks :P)
(9) GM: 19 is roasted.
(20) Kibin: (bunnies can bite big if you know where to hit :D)
(21) Kaylin: (whee)
(21) Kaylin: (Scorched... wolf...)

(23) Derrel: (They're bigger)
(20) Kibin: (doh, i get an AoO on one, don't I)
(20) Kibin: (oh, it's melee, nope)
(20) Kibin: (comeon derrel!)
(9) GM: Not from lighting.
(9) GM: Derrel?
(20) Kibin: (pwn some wolfies)
(23) Derrel: (Yes?)
(23) Derrel: (My turn? Didn't see a notice)
(20) Kibin: (don't forget free attack from haste :D)

(21) Kaylin: (I should have slowed them all down)
(9) GM: All blows land, 37 damage dealt.
(20) Kibin: (did i mention that my speed is like the flash now from haste? : )
(9) GM: Pick an adjacent wolf to drop.
(21) Kaylin: (haha)
(22) Elorin: (12 is least hurt)
(9) GM: Kaylin, Derrel, Kibin, Wolves, Jason, Elorin
(23) Derrel: (Me? I dunno...15?)
(20) Kibin: (jason should have great cleavage)
(9) GM: (???)
(20) Kibin: (great cleave, a feat)
(9) GM: (male)
(21) Kaylin: (hey, if you guys want to retreat, I could cast fireball)
(20) Kibin: (if he drops an enemy, he gets a free attack)
(9) GM: (and ghost, and spellcaster)
(21) Kaylin: (hey! I'm the one with the cleavage)
(22) Elorin: (Order of the Stick joke)
(9) GM: Wolf 15 drops, dead.
(20) Kibin: (hehe)
(9) GM: Kibin?
(9) GM: You don't have any flanked at the moment.
(20) Kibin: (um)
(20) Kibin: (and if i try to flank, i get hit by 4 AoOs...)
(20) Kibin: (um, i bluff and attack wolfie number 16?)
(20) Kibin: (thus ending flanking?)
(9) GM: Potentially. Roll your bluff.[1d20+2] -> [16,2] = (18)

(20) Kibin: (does that drop the wolf?)
(9) GM: Yep, it does - wolf 16 drops, to the ground, heaving, but not bleeding badly.
(20) Kibin: (and one 5 foot step)
(9) GM: Wolves turn....
(20) Kibin: (if i had combat reflexes... i would have so many AoOs...)
(9) GM: Each attacks the nearest party member ... some 5 ft stepping to get there.
(20) Kibin: (wouldn't the wolves try to flank me? :P)

(20) Kibin: (miss miss hit miss, if they're all on me)
(9) GM: Elorin, you take the first, Kibin takes the next two, and Derrel takes the last.
(20) Kibin: (oh)
(22) Elorin: (miss)
(20) Kibin: (so... miss hit for me)
(23) Derrel: AC: [29] -> 29
(20) Kibin: (oh wait
(20) Kibin: (thats a miss, doh, +1 to AC from haste)
(22) Elorin: (I thought your normal AC was 29?)
(9) GM: No damage to anyone? Aww....
(20) Kibin: (well, you ARE using challenge rating 3 monsters)
(9) GM: Jason's turn.... grappling 14.

(22) Elorin: 13, 14, 11, and 11 damage
(21) Kaylin: (along with cooked wolf)
(9) GM: All arrows hit, wolf drops to the ground after third shot - continue, or hit another wolf?
(22) Elorin: fourth at 12
(22) Elorin: -1 to hit and damage because not in 30 ft
(22) Elorin: (you want to see a real machine gun, wait until you see me with Haste and Divine Power :) )

(21) Kaylin: (hmm.)
(22) Elorin: (3 normal, +1 Haste, +1 Divine Power)
(20) Kibin: (ah)
(21) Kaylin: (if I did cone of cold, that'd freeze Kibin and Derrel too, right?)
(20) Kibin: (not if you arm at wolf dire 17 and 14
(20) Kibin: (aim*)
(9) GM: You could angle it so it hit 14 and 17 without hittind Derrel, Kibin, or 12.
(22) Elorin: (but is it really worth wasting another high level spell on such weak foes?)
(20) Kibin: (magic missle on wolfie 12?)
(20) Kibin: (ooo, or scorching ray)
(21) Kaylin: magic missile time.
(20) Kibin: (BALEFUL POLYMORPH! :P)

(20) Kibin: (piff piff piff o.O)
(21) Kaylin: (yeah... but these aren't the biggest enemies around)
(9) GM: 15 damage to wolf 12.
(21) Kaylin: (15 is decent.)
(9) GM: Derrel?
(22) Elorin: (next time, do it like this: [5d4+5] -> [2,4,1,4,2,5] = (18))
(21) Kaylin: (oh, oopsies.)
(22) Elorin: (so we don't have to search for the numbers and add them up)

(23) Derrel: (17?)
(20) Kibin: (hey... i hit three times too)
(20) Kibin: (all sneak attacks :D)
(23) Derrel: (No, too far - 14)
(9) GM: 37 damage, as you can only target one wolf - 14 requries a 5-ft step, which is safe.
(20) Kibin: (to the grappled wolf?)
(9) GM: And 14 dies a bloody, gory death.
(20) Kibin: (theoretically he could step, and attack some more)
(20) Kibin: (5 foot steps can be taken at any time)
(23) Derrel: (Sure)
(20) Kibin: (in your turn)
(20) Kibin: (so he can step over to 12)
(9) GM: (had to step to hit 14, only 1 per round)
(20) Kibin: (oh...)
(20) Kibin: (meh)
(9) GM: Kibin?

(21) Kaylin: (dang)
(23) Derrel: (...)
(21) Kaylin: (looks like we won...)
(21) Kaylin: (erm)
(20) Kibin: (wonder why the sorcerer doesn't come over here and get mad ad me for dying :P)

(9) GM: And catches him flat-footed.
(9) GM: Bite hit, 16; claw 2 hit for 9.
(23) Derrel: (Really? With all the demons that attack, I'd think he'd expect it)
(20) Kibin: (well, it did just APPEAR out of nowhere)
(20) Kibin: (do we roll initiative again?)
(9) GM: Nah - Kaylin, Derrel, Kibin, Demon, Jason, Elorin; Jason's turn, now that the demon went...
(20) Kibin: (okay... so kaylin toasts more butt)
(9) GM: Jason: Gah! Antoher one? Let's see if I can hold it down....

(21) Kaylin: (I want to turn it into a fluffy bunny)
(21) Kaylin: (I'm level 13, got Spell Focus in transmutation...)

(20) Kibin: (ah, lets wait)
(20) Kibin: \(i still wanted it to get zapped into bunny though)
(22) Elorin: (I can wait)

(21) Kaylin: (waiting 'til GM gets back?)
(23) Derrel: (Fun)
(20) Kibin: (i have to go soon)
(22) Elorin: (3 PC's is still plenty to have fun)
(20) Kibin: feh
(20) Kibin: i don't like being NPCed()
(20) Kibin: (was fun though)

(20) Kibin: (lol)
(20) Kibin: (yeah, me just eat everything, fill up my tummy :D)
(21) Kaylin: maybe next random encounter I'll turn something into a deer for you
(21) Kaylin: (or, just start casting Stone to Flesh on a nearby mountain)
(20) Kibin: (lol)
(20) Kibin: (anyway, i guess we all should log off)
(9) GM: Back a little earlier than I though.....
(9) GM: Derrel's turn, if he's here.
(22) Elorin: I'm here, but I don't know about everyone else
(22) Elorin: it may take a while before they check the window again
(23) Derrel: +4 Longsword Attack #1 Attack Roll: [1d20+19] -> [13,19] = (32)===> DMG: [1d8+4+2] -> [3,4,2] = (9)

(20) Kibin: (hmmm)
(20) Kibin: (wait, 6 attacks???)
(9) GM: Two critical threats.
(9) GM: AC 27, 4 hits, one confimed crit, DR 10 applies, 13 damage dealt.
(9) GM: Kibin, if he's here.
(9) GM: As he doens't seem to be, he just sort of stands around this round, and it's the demon's turn....
(9) GM: Derrel again: Bite [1d20+20] -> [18,20] = (38) for [2d8+7] -> [5,5,7] = (17) claw [1d20+17] -> [4,17] = (21) for [1d8+3] -> [5,3] = (8) claw [1d20+17] -> [20,17] = (37) for [1d8+3] -> [8,3] = (11)
(20) Kibin: (wait-
(20) Kibin: (i was there : (
(9) GM: Then you took the delay action, and no go immediately after the demon.
(20) Kibin: (meh fine)
(9) GM: Two hits on derrel (bite, claw 2) 28 damage to derrel.
(9) GM: Kibin?
** (20) Kibin steps in, bluff and sneak attacking. **
(20) Kibin: [1d20+15] -> [13,15] = (28)
(9) GM: [1d20+23] -> [16,23] = (39)
(23) Derrel: (Gotta remember smite evil)
(9) GM: The demon calls your bluff.
** (20) Kibin just attacks then.... **
** (20) Kibin on second though waits till the demon loses dexterity bonus to attack. **
(9) GM: Jason's turn... attempts another grapple, just for laughs....
(9) GM: Touch: [1d20+22] -> [5,22] = (27), grapple: [1d20+22] -> [2,22] = (24), opposed: [1d20+29] -> [1,29] = (30)
(21) Kaylin: (I think this merits a cone of cold?)
(20) Kibin: (meh)
(20) Kibin: (i think this merits black tentacles)
(9) GM: And touches the demon, which manages to fight off the phantasmal force trying to hold onto it.
(20) Kibin: (off slightly from the monster, so that it won't affect us)
(9) GM: Elorin?
(22) Elorin: (how badly hurt is Derrel?)
(23) Derrel: (77%)
(21) Kaylin: (ouch)
(20) Kibin: (how much HP do you have???)
(22) Elorin: (77% remaining, or 77% damaged?)
(23) Derrel: (Or close. 35 HP)
(23) Derrel: (Out of 100)
(20) Kibin: (i have more HP than the paladin... should i be scared?)
(9) GM: Jason: Anyone able to summon something on the demon's other side?
** (22) Elorin moves up to heal the Paladin **
(22) Elorin: Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
(22) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(9) GM: (ah yes, bonus speed from Haste.... )
(22) Elorin: (Congratulations, you're at full health :) )
(23) Derrel: (Thanks)
(9) GM: (Kibin - you are also effectively 2 levels over him)
(9) GM: Kaylin?
(20) Kibin: (hmmm?)
(20) Kibin: (oh)
(21) Kaylin: (hmm.)
(20) Kibin: (poly me! :P)
(21) Kaylin: (what do you guys think? Cone of Cold or Black Tentacles?)
(20) Kibin: (poly? : )
(9) GM: (What's your grapple check on Black Tentacles?)
(20) Kibin: (same as large...)
(21) Kaylin: (21, I think)
(21) Kaylin: (er, that's the modifier)
(20) Kibin: (BAB equal to caster level)
(20) Kibin: (and strength score of 19]
(9) GM: +4 large, +4 str, + 13 caster level = 21
(20) Kibin: (looks like it)
(21) Kaylin: (sounds worth trying)
(20) Kibin: (i still want polymorph... meh)
(21) Kaylin: (which would do more damage?)
(9) GM: Cone of Cold allows spell resistance....
(20) Kibin: (poly? : (
(21) Kaylin: (oh fine)
(21) Kaylin: let's polymorph kibin
(9) GM: Kiobin's current type: Magical Beast
(21) Kaylin: all right, let's go for it
(20) Kibin: (hurry up i only got 10 more minutes)
(20) Kibin: (anything with up to 13 hit die is a possibility)
(21) Kaylin: (argh, so many choices)
(21) Kaylin: (what do you want?)
(20) Kibin: (meh)
(20) Kibin: (i dunno, choose something)
(20) Kibin: (uh)
(20) Kibin: (a 12 headed cyro hydra?)
(21) Kaylin: (too many HD)
(20) Kibin: (nope, it's at 12)
(20) Kibin: (: )
(20) Kibin: (number of hit dice is caster level, so anything with up to 13 hit dices)
(21) Kaylin: (oh)
(21) Kaylin: All right, you go to 12-headed cryohydra.
(22) Elorin: (12 attacks, OUCH!!)
(9) GM: not familiar with the modifier "cryo", so you only get a normal 12 headed hydra
(20) Kibin: (what do you mean not familiar?)
(21) Kaylin: (cold monster)
(20) Kibin: (basically i get to breath cold every 1d4 turns)
(9) GM: (I don't have that ... template? ... accessable at the moment - of course, it's probably a Su ability, which you don't get from polymorph anyay...)
(20) Kibin: (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/hydra.htm)
(20) Kibin: (cryohyrda, at the bottom)
(22) Elorin: (I doubt polymorph gives you that ability)
(20) Kibin: (just do regular hydra then...)
(21) Kaylin: (now beat up that demothing)
(20) Kibin: (uh... what are we waiting for exactly?)
(20) Kibin: (just run over here and poly me already)
(20) Kibin: (weeee me big o.O)
(21) Kaylin: (whoa. that thing is big)
(21) Kaylin: (I'm so not fighting you)
(20) Kibin: (weee me big o.O)
(9) GM: Downright Huge.
(20) Kibin: (with 12 heads, ooo)
(21) Kaylin: (let's go into town!)
(20) Kibin: (who's turn now?)
(9) GM: Derrel?
(20) Kibin: (derrels?)
(23) Derrel: +4 Longsword Attack #1 Attack Roll: [1d20+19] -> [17,19] = (36)===> DMG: [1d8+4+2] -> [2,4,2] = (8)

(20) Kibin: [2d8+6] -> [2,3,6] = (11)
(20) Kibin: (dude, if that thing gets grappled... i am so totally destroying it)
(9) GM: Derrel: AC 27, one hit, DR 10 applies, no damage.
(21) Kaylin: (polymorph is more useful than I thought)
(23) Derrel: (I keep forgetting - Can I use it retroactively)
(20) Kibin: (84d6 sneak attack? no chance)
(9) GM: Kibin: You miss.
** (20) Kibin checks to see how much damage that does...() **
(9) GM: Derrel: Sure..... extra 13 damage, changed to Holy, 21 dealt.
(20) Kibin: [84d6] -> [3,2,2,4,4,2,6,1,5,3,6,4,4,1,5,1,1,1,3,3,1,5,3,5,2,4,6,4,4,4,6,1,6,6,2,1,1,4,1,3,1,5,2,1,5,5,1,5,1,1,6,5,2,6,2,3,2,5,3,2,1,6,5,6,5,6,5,2,4,3,5,4,2,1,2,3,1,6,1,1,6,6,5,3] = (282)

(9) GM: Elorin, what's your AC again?
(20) Kibin: (i think the smacketh wasn't layed down right)
(21) Kaylin: (not that I'm complaining)
(20) Kibin: (31)
(22) Elorin: (32 with haste)
(22) Elorin: (it hasn't been 13 rounds yet)
(9) GM: Bite for 12 damage.
(21) Kaylin: (hehe , awesome)

(20) Kibin: (damage reduction)
** (20) Kibin wonders if he has ever seen someone do so many attacks in one round...() **
(9) GM: Let's see.. dex down to 12, all your equipment subsumed in the poly, str 23, -3 from size Huge, bab 11, +1 haste, you should be rolilng at 15, not 17.
(20) Kibin: (says 15 here)
(22) Elorin: (Kaylin, just for something to do I've been entering your character sheet into OpenRPG since you don't seem to have made much progress with it)
(20) Kibin: (i mean 17)
(22) Elorin: (I'll send the node now)
(21) Kaylin: (subsumed? that's not good, is it)
(20) Kibin: (i just do what the attacks tell me to)
(21) Kaylin: (Elorin: thanks so much, I've been confused by it)
(20) Kibin: (meh, can you just NPC me for the rest of the battle?)
(20) Kibin: (i shoudn't polymorph back)
(9) GM: 6 hits, critical not confirmed, 26 damage actually dealt
(20) Kibin: (4 hitpoint damage)
(20) Kibin: (can you please NPC me for the end of the battle?)
(9) GM: Sure.

(22) Elorin: (and I ignore its DR, too :D )
(21) Kaylin: (good, that thing had better be almost dead)
(9) GM: AC 27, three hits, [18+19+27] -> 64 damage

(23) Derrel: (I'm at full already)
(9) GM: The demon, not ever stabilizing, bleeds to death.
(9) GM: Jason: So... you think we should collect the pelts?
(21) Kaylin: (yes)
(21) Kaylin: (er)
(21) Kaylin: Yes, we should.
(23) Derrel: "It would present proof that the threat is gone."
(23) Derrel: (I gotta go)
(9) GM: Have fun.
(9) GM: Thanks for coming.
(23) Derrel: (Thank you)
(23) Derrel: (You're welcome)
(23) Derrel: Disconnecting from server...
(23) Derrel (exit): 20:07
(9) GM: Derrel goes about the work of butchering the wolves....
(9) GM: Jason stacks the meat on the wagon, while Kibin has a bit of a feast.
(9) GM: ... on the meat that wouldn't fit.
(21) Kaylin: (do we gain XP for this?)
(22) Elorin: (While still in hydra form?)
(9) GM: (Yep - that way, it's not cannibalism)
** (21) Kaylin combs her hair **
(21) Kaylin: (have to keep up appearances :P )
(9) GM: (And yes; XP - although I'll be posting that in the thread, later, as someone is going to be dissapointed by lower rewards)
(22) Elorin: (why?)
(9) GM: (ECL 15 in an ECL 13 party vs. a CR 14 encounter)
(22) Elorin: (oh)
(9) GM: After a time, Derrel and Jason finish the work, and count seven pelts.
(22) Elorin: I hope the one that got away doesn't return and cause trouble
(9) GM: Jason: Hopefully, it will remember this encounter and stay away.
(21) Kaylin: It'll be scared of contact...
(21) Kaylin: but it is less impressive, returning to the farmers with but 7 of the 8 slain.
(22) Elorin: It lost all its packmates in what, 15-20 seconds?
(21) Kaylin: I hope it remembers Chain Lightning
(21) Kaylin: That was _fuun_ ;)
(9) GM: Jason: Yes, it will be licking it's wounds for quite some time.
(9) GM: Derrel: Well, lets get back to town. I'm sure those herders will be grateful for the meat, and the hides.
(9) GM: Derrel: ... and the knoweledge that that viscious pack is gone.
** (22) Elorin heads back towards the wagon **
** (21) Kaylin hops on the back of the cart **
(9) GM: The party heads back to town, where people look at them oddly, and then continue about their business.
(21) Kaylin: (people can see us? I thought we were inside a fog)
(22) Elorin: (they look at the moving fog bank oddly)
(9) GM: (guess what they are looking at? However, they are looking in your direction when they do.....)
(21) Kaylin: (I suppose they would :D)
(22) Elorin: (I really can't blame them)
(21) Kaylin: (we shoud make catcalls)
(9) GM: (and you can see them perfectly clearly - for you, there is no fog.)
(22) Elorin: (they wouldn't hear them)
(9) GM: (why would you want to meow, anyway?)
(9) GM: (sorry - bad pun - couldn't resist)
(21) Kaylin: (hehe)
(21) Kaylin: (that reminds me, I'm going to have to make some modifications to this Robe of the Archmagi)
(22) Elorin: (polymorph into a cat first; that way it'll be more realistic :P)
(22) Elorin: (oh?)
(21) Kaylin: (lol)
(21) Kaylin: (Yeah, at least make slits up the side of this robe.)
(21) Kaylin: (probably make it a little more daring in the front ^^)
(9) GM: Jason stops the cart near the mayor's manor
(21) Kaylin: All right, let's go see what they think of these pelts.
(9) GM: (technically, it's a wagon, not a cart, but hey...)
(9) GM: Derrel: Sounds like a plan.
(9) GM: Derrel hops out of the cart, and fetches the Mayor, bringing him inside the fog cloud, so he can see everything.
(9) GM: Mayor: Well, well, that saved me tha hassle of hiring a mercenary squadron to take them out.
(21) Kaylin: (/me gets hopeful)
(21) Kaylin: (oh damn, Derrel is LG)
(22) Elorin: (nothing about LG requires that you not seek reward for your good deeds)
(9) GM: Derrel: We are proud to have helped out the citizens of this town by ridding them of the wolven threat.
(9) GM: (Paladinhood, however, does place some restrictions on such things....)
(9) GM: (Remember - he volunteered....)
(22) Elorin: (I don't see anything in the Code of Conduct that prevents it either. He can ask, just not pressure the guy)
(9) GM: (hence "some restrictions" rather than fully prevented...)
(21) Kaylin: (good)
(9) GM: Mayor: I suppose I should reward you, noble crusader. Let's see... what would be appropriet.....
(21) Kaylin: (some cash?)
(9) GM: Mayor: I do have an old chest full of knick-knacks you could have ... hold on....
(9) GM: A few minutes later, the mayor comes back with an old chest. "There you go. A little of my inheretence from the now-deceased baron.
(9) GM: "
(21) Kaylin: (NICE!)
(21) Kaylin: Thank you for the reward, Mayor.
** (22) Elorin joins Derrel in (presumably) thanking the mayor for his kindness and heads back to the wagon, expecting to examine the chest and its contents there **
(21) Kaylin: (wootage. loot)
(9) GM: Derrel helps you with the chest, which is surprisingly light.
(22) Elorin: (Kibin should at least still be able to search for traps, right?)
(9) GM: He doesn't find any.
(22) Elorin: Well, let's open it up and see what's inside
(9) GM: gem
(9) GM: black opal
(9) GM: boulder opal (brown)
(9) GM: elbaite (green tourmaline)
(9) GM: fire opal (orange to red)
(9) GM: green topaz (actually nearly blue instead of green)
(9) GM: mykaro
(9) GM: onyx
(9) GM: raindrop
(9) GM: salite (green diopside)
(9) GM: sunstone (green)
(9) GM: tiger eye agate
(9) GM: yellow fluorite
(9) GM: Books
(9) GM: Book with a picture of two circles connected by a line on the cover
** (21) Kaylin drool **
(21) Kaylin: oooh! books!
** (22) Elorin wonders if any of it is magical **
(22) Elorin: Elorin casts Detect Magic ( level 0, "Detects spells and magic items within 60 ft." )
(22) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 0 Spell ( level 0, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(9) GM: (singular, technically - the plural was the heading)
(9) GM: The book glows strongly in your magic sight.
(21) Kaylin: (oh)
(22) Elorin: Well, the book has some kind of powerful enchantment, but the gems are all quite ordinary
(22) Elorin: I assume they are worth quite a bit of money, but I have no idea how much
(9) GM: I don't suppose either of you could Identify it?
(9) GM: Derrel speaking, there
(22) Elorin: Hmm, you're a wizard. Can you identify the book?
(21) Kaylin: I don't have Identify or Analyse Dweomer prepared.
(9) GM: Derrel: We can wait a day, if you have them available for later.
(21) Kaylin: Perhaps when I'm preparing spells for tomorrow morn, you might remind me?
(22) Elorin: (it's pretty late in the day now, correct?)
(21) Kaylin: (should be)
(21) Kaylin: (I mean, finding wolves and skinning them, I'd say late evening by now)
(22) Elorin: I think it's time to retire for the night, and identify the book in the morning
(9) GM: Yep, late evening. You interrupted the mayor's supper.
(21) Kaylin: (oops)
(9) GM: Jason: Camping out on the wagon?
(22) Elorin: (at least we didn't interrupt it with a sales speech)
(21) Kaylin: Why don't I cast Secure Shelter?
(21) Kaylin: it'd be slightly better for comfort and rest.
(9) GM: Jason: Mostly because we tend to get ambushed around midnight, by a demon or two.
(21) Kaylin: I see.
(9) GM: Derrel: However, we're pretty sure we get scried on first, and the spell on the wagon will hopefully prevent that.
(21) Kaylin: We must find this sorcerer quickly then.
(9) GM: Jason: The longest he's stayed around to greet us is about 3 seconds. By any chance do you know a spell that might prevent him from teleporting?
(29) Kaylin (enter): 20:41
(30) Elorin (enter): 20:41
(29) Kaylin: ah, I see.
(9) GM: Jason: The longest he's stayed around to greet us is about 3 seconds. By any chance do you know a spell that might prevent him from teleporting?
(29) Kaylin: Sadly not
(21) Kaylin (exit): 20:41
(22) Elorin (exit): 20:41
(9) GM: Jason sighs. "Do you think you might be able to learn one, if I handed you a scroll with it?
(9) GM: "
(30) Elorin: (dimensional anchor, I presume)
(29) Kaylin: almost certainly.
(9) GM: Jason: I'll get it out for you, then. Although it looks like you'll need to learn it tomorrow, after you have rested. I so miss the weakness of the flesh....
(29) Kaylin: I'm sorry to hear that.. I suppose you'll stand watch?
(9) GM: Jason pulls a chest out from under the horse feed in the back of the wagon, unlocks it with a key, then pulls a scroll out, and floats it over to Kaylin.
(9) GM: Jason then closes the chest, locks it back up, and hides both the key and the chest under the feed again.
(9) GM: Jason: I do need some rest, for readying my spells ... but I still have plenty available, so sure.
(30) Elorin: I can stand watch for most of the night
(9) GM: (Divine caster? Yep, you can.)
(29) Kaylin: Very well then. I shall rest and study the scroll tomorrow. I can stand a watch shift, but I'll need about 8 hours of sleep.
(30) Elorin: My ring allows me to get by with only 2 hours of rest each night, and I do not need an extended rest period to pray for spells.
(29) Kaylin: impressive.
(9) GM: Jason: Very well. I'll be around. Rouse me in a little over eight hours.
(29) Kaylin: Wake me if you need me.
** (29) Kaylin curls up and goes to sleep **
(9) GM: Jason then closes his eyes, and begins his eight hours of meditation....
** (30) Elorin stands watch for 8 hours, wakes Jason, sleeps for 2, and gets back up to stand watch some more **
** (30) Elorin assuming nothing happens during the night **
(9) GM: The night passes uneventfully....
(29) Kaylin: (morning yet?)
(30) Elorin: (Ok, time for an exercise in editing your spells prepared, Kaylin)
(9) GM: Yep - the rising sun wakes you as the sunlight streams from the east through the windows in the covered wagon.
(29) Kaylin: mrmmfs.
(29) Kaylin: (I don't wake up well :P )
(9) GM: In the morning, Jason takes a moment to cast a spell ... and afterwards, there is a shimmering field of force surrounding him.
(9) GM: Mage Armor, Level 1: Gives subject +4 armor bonus
(9) GM: (extended)
(30) Elorin: I see I'm not the only one to use such tactics
(30) Elorin: Though I cast my enhancements before resting, not on rising
(9) GM: Jason smiles: I don't get quite as much time out of it as you probably do, and I'm not particularly worried about getting killed in the middle of the night.
** (29) Kaylin reads the scroll Jason gave her **
(9) GM: Spellcraft check?
(29) Kaylin: (well, adding it to spellbook)
(29) Kaylin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+27] -> [16,27] = (43)
(30) Elorin: (I don't think it's possible for her to fail)
(29) Kaylin: (+27? :D)
whispering to Kaylin, You successfully learn the level 4th level spell "Dimensional Anchor"
(9) GM: The scroll crumbles to dust.
(9) GM: Note that the process takes 8 hours, and you finish in the early afternoon.
(29) Kaylin: (all right.. I'm guessing stuff might happen during that time?)
(9) GM: Jason: Make sure to keep one prepared, eh?
(29) Kaylin: Ahh, thank you. I have learned the spell; now I shall begin preparing spells for today.
(9) GM: Derrel: We wouldn't want you to be lacking it if we do encounter the Sorceror today.
(29) Kaylin: Of course.
(30) Elorin: And don't forget to prepare what you need to identify the book
(30) Elorin: (unless you have some pearls, that means Analyze Dweomer)
(29) Kaylin: (I'm just going to type the new values in the spell thing in openRPG, right?)
(9) GM: Pretty much.
(30) Elorin: (in the No. column, yes)
(29) Kaylin: (all right, that looks right.)
(9) GM: Also, hit Refresh spells.
(29) Kaylin: Time for some Analyse Dweomer
(9) GM: After changing the numbers
(29) Kaylin: OK.
(30) Elorin: (remember to reduce the number of another spell to keep the total at your spell slots for that level)
(29) Kaylin: (yep, did that.)
(30) Elorin: (and, right-click...)
(29) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Analyze Dweomer ( level 6, "Reveals magical aspects of subject." )
whispering to Kaylin, You find that the book is a Manual of gainful exercise (+1), valued at 27,500 gp
(29) Kaylin: (should be 13 rounds... 13 objects...)
(30) Elorin: (too bad we don't have 12 more objects that need identifying)
(29) Kaylin: (hehe)
(29) Kaylin: (identified all the gems already?)
(29) Kaylin: (even their values?)
(9) GM: Analyze Dweomer doesn't work on non-magical objects.
(9) GM: It checks enchantments.
(29) Kaylin: (oh...)
(30) Elorin: (we'll have to get the gems appraised by a jeweler)
(9) GM: You need Knoweledge (trading/gems/something appropriet), or Craft(jewelery/gems/something appropriet)
(30) Elorin: (or Appraise)
(9) GM: (Appraise works as well)
(29) Kaylin: (bah, only 7 in those)
(30) Elorin: (and untrained)
(9) GM: (knoweledge checks are not useable untrained unless the DC is 10 or less, which pricing gems accurately is not.)
(30) Elorin: (with those skills, that's a major penalty)
(29) Kaylin (whispering): so, could I read this book and get something from it? and can I tell everyone what it is?
(9) GM: It would take a while - it's a long book - but how much use is +1 str to a wizardess?
(9) GM: Ach! Forgot to whisper....
(29) Kaylin: :D
(9) GM: Ignore that line, everyone except Kaylin, please.
(30) Elorin: So, what is it?
(29) Kaylin: (I can tell them, right?)
(9) GM: (up to you)
(29) Kaylin: My sources indicate that it is a manual of gainful excersize (+1), worth 27500 GP
whispering to Kaylin, 48 hours over a minimum of 6 days to get the bonus
(29) Kaylin: Perhaps you fighters should study it, and then we sell it.
(29) Kaylin: But... it'l take a while.
(30) Elorin: (I believe such items lose their power after one use)
(9) GM: Jason: Umm... such things usually only work once....
(29) Kaylin: (oopsies)
(29) Kaylin: personally I'd sell it off and divide the money up.
(30) Elorin: (so, +1 Str to one party member after 48 hours of reading it over at least 6 days, or sell for half price and buy other stuff)
(29) Kaylin: (go buying stuff)
(30) Elorin: (If one of the melee fighters has an odd strength, I'd say let him have it. Otherwise, sell it and wait for more powerful books before getting inherent bonuses)
(9) GM: (Kibin does have an odd strength - 13)
(30) Elorin: (hmm, does he use his str bonus to attack, or dex (via weapon finesse)?)
(29) Kaylin: (doesn't he use dex?)
(9) GM: (Although this strikes me as a decision that probably ought to be hashed out on the forums, wehre everyone can comment)
(9) GM: (he adds Str to damage, Dex to attack via weapon finess)
(30) Elorin: (if he uses dex, the bonus damage is insignificant compared to his sneak attack)
(30) Elorin: (I'd say sell it)
(9) GM: (when he gets it...)
(29) Kaylin: (I'd value about 8000 GP more than 1 str point.. but then, I'm a caster)
(30) Elorin: (13750 gp, actually)
(9) GM: (yes... but split how many ways?)
(30) Elorin: (I think we could afford a more significant bonus from other effects with that money)
(29) Kaylin: (oh right, so when we split it it's ... 3250 ish)
(9) GM: [13750/5] -> 2750
(29) Kaylin: (5 people? o.o)
(30) Elorin: (Jason)
(29) Kaylin: (*blink* oh yeah... Jason)
(9) GM: (that die roller can be used for many things; Derrel, Jason, Elorin, Kaylin, Kibin)
(30) Elorin: (I think at this point manuals are far less cost effective than most other things we could buy)
(30) Elorin: (also, if we ever got a more powerful manual, the bonus from the first one would be overriden, effectively tossing that money away)
(29) Kaylin: (yep. let's sell it)
(9) GM: (with the one exception that they stack with everything else you could buy.... but a Belt of Strength +4 is only 16,000 gp.... and correct, the bonus would be overridden with a later manual.)
(30) Elorin: (but, we'll have to give Derrel and Kibin a chance to comment)
(9) GM: (Yep)
(9) GM: (Which means suspend the game here - it's a good stopping point, anyway.)
(30) Elorin: (could we get the gems appraised before we stop?)
(29) Kaylin: (I'd appreciate that)
(9) GM: (Sure.)
(9) GM: Looking for a gemenologist?
(29) Kaylin: Yes
(9) GM: Gather Information or Knoweledge(Local) rolls, please.
(29) Kaylin: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+8] -> [5,8] = (13)
(29) Kaylin: (GRR)
(30) Elorin: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+3] -> [7,3] = (10)
(9) GM: [1d3+1] -> [3,1] = (4), [1d3] -> [2] = (2)
(9) GM: [1d3+1] -> [2,1] = (3), [1d3] -> [2] = (2)
(30) Elorin: (shouldn't the other party members be helping?)
(9) GM: Kaylin, you spend 4 hours and 2 gp for no effect; Elorin: You spend 3 hours and 2 gp to no effect.
(9) GM: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [3,10] = (13)
(9) GM: [1d3+1] -> [3,1] = (4), [1d3] -> [1] = (1)
(9) GM: Jason doesn't fair much better, only spending a single gold piece.
(30) Elorin: (Knowledge local, Kaylin?)
(29) Kaylin: Knowledge: Nature Skill Check: [1d20+12] -> [4,12] = (16)
(29) Kaylin: oops
(29) Kaylin: Knowledge: Local Skill Check: [1d20+12] -> [12,12] = (24)
(29) Kaylin: (that's BETTER)
whispering to Kaylin, you do happen to know about a Jeweler in the area who would proabably do well at appraising the gems. He charges 1 gp per gem, though, for accurate apprasales. Nobody has ever heard of getting cheated at his shop, however.
(29) Kaylin: I know of a jeweler around here. Charges 1 GP per appraisal, but I've heard he's good... never heard anything bad.
(9) GM: Jason: Probably a good place to start, then.
(29) Kaylin: Let's go
(9) GM: You find the jewler, who looks quite wealthy for the area.
(31) Elorin (enter): 21:22
(9) GM: Hmm.....
(29) Kaylin: We've got a few gems we'd like you to appraise..
(31) Elorin: Honest, too? He won't deliberatly undervalue the gems hoping to buy them cheap?
(31) Elorin: (before we go)
(29) Kaylin: (he does that, we fry him)
(30) Elorin (exit): 21:23
(9) GM: Shoppkeeper: Have you heard of my fee? 1 gp per gem.
(29) Kaylin: We can pay. But I'm warning you, don't try to cheat us.
(9) GM: Jeweler: Cash first. I never cheat a client.
(31) Elorin: (how many gems were there?)
(9) GM: (12)
** (29) Kaylin hands over 12 GP **
(9) GM: Jeweler: Looks good. And the gems?
** (29) Kaylin hands over the gems to be identified **
(9) GM: The jeweler pulls out a magnifying glass and some scales, and spends a full minute looking at the gems....
(9) GM: Jeweler: Let's see... we have...
(9) GM: A black opal (840.8 gp)
(9) GM: A boulder opal (brown) (887.2 gp)
(9) GM: A elbaite (green tourmaline) (69.8 gp)
(9) GM: A fire opal (orange to red) (1,143.8 gp)
(9) GM: A green topaz (actually nearly blue instead of green) (613 gp)
(9) GM: A mykaro (72.2 gp)
(9) GM: A onyx (white and red) (32.4 gp)
(9) GM: A raindrop (603.3 gp)
(9) GM: A salite (green diopside) (9.1 gp)
(9) GM: A sunstone (green) (9.4 gp)
(9) GM: A tiger eye agate (7.5 gp)
(9) GM: A yellow fluorite (crystals are like intertwined blocks) (8 gp)
(9) GM: Total gem market value at 4296.5 gp
(9) GM: Jeweler: I can but these from you, at 1/2 market price, if you would like.
(31) Elorin: Well, that's quite a chunk of change
(9) GM: Jeweler: Do I look poor?
(29) Kaylin: What do you think? I have no need of these gems. Except they're pretty...
** (29) Kaylin wants to keep a black opal as a necklace to offset her hair **
(29) Kaylin: (*cough*)
(9) GM: Jeweler: Ahh... you have an eye toward the opal? I can set it for you, if you like.
(31) Elorin: (I'm pretty sure gems are supposed to be an exception to the half-price for selling rule)
(29) Kaylin: How much would the setting cost?
(9) GM: Oh, wouldn't take long - I could have it for you today, despite the late hour - 10 gp for a gold ring, 20 gp for a gold hair comb, 5 gp for a silver necklace.
(9) GM: Jeweler: A few other options are available, if you know what you are after.
(29) Kaylin: hmm..
(29) Kaylin: can I buy the elbaite from the party too?
(9) GM: Jason: I suppose; there are enough gems there that we could probably just deduct what we'd get from selling all of them from your cut of the sale.
** (29) Kaylin is thinking put the elbaite in the comb and the black opal in a silver neclace **
(29) Kaylin: excellent.
(29) Kaylin: I'll do that then
(9) GM: Derrel: Wait... the black opal alone would pull 440 from the sale, wouldn't it? And the total sale would run a mere 429.65 per person, split five ways....
(29) Kaylin: I'll make up the difference. I have gold.
(29) Kaylin: (yes, I'm obsessed with shiny things)
(9) GM: Jason: That should work.
(31) Elorin: (huh, it seems they left it out of the SRD, but my PHB clearly lists gems as a trade good, which should bring full market value when sold)
(29) Kaylin: (that makes sense to me)
(9) GM: Jeweler: All right. The Jeweler takes the gems, hands over 164 pp, 4 gp, 7 sp, 5 cp (2 pp, 5 gp pulled for the jewelery, and heads into the back.)
(9) GM: A few minutes later, he comes out with an exquisite gold hair comb with the Elbaite in a careful mount, as well as the black opal on a delicate silver necklace.
(9) GM: Which he then hands to Kaylin.
(9) GM: Jeweler: Pleasure doing buisiness with you.
(29) Kaylin: And with you.
(29) Kaylin: What do I owe the party for stuff?
(9) GM: Jason: Let's see... if my math isn't too far off, the difference between 1718 gp 6 sp and 1644.75, or 73 gp 8sp, 5 cp.
(29) Kaylin: good enough for me
** (29) Kaylin pays up **
(9) GM: Which should mean 42 pp, 9 gp, 6 sp, and 5 cp per party remaining party member.
(9) GM: Anything else before closing the server and summerizing on the boards?
(31) Elorin: no
(29) Kaylin: no. Should I post an updated charsheet with the spells I actually have now?
(31) Elorin: yes
(9) GM: Ideally, you just enter it into the OpenRPG system and send the node to me when next we paly.
(29) Kaylin: all right.
(31) Elorin: oh, and right-click on the top level node of your character sheet and select "Pretty Print"
(9) GM: Play, not paly.
(31) Elorin: I entered it for her, she can send it now
** (29) Kaylin bows to Elorin's abilities **
(9) GM: That'd be great.
(31) Elorin: right-click Send to Player
(31) Elorin: on top level node
(29) Kaylin: ok, just a sec
(29) Kaylin has sent you a tree node...
(9) GM: Got it.
