All of the following are class features of the elementalist.
Elementalists are proficient with the club, dagger, light crossbow, and quarterstaff. They are proficient with shields (except tower shields). Armor of any type interferes with an elementalist's movements, which can cause her spells with somatic components to fail.
An elementalist can cast arcane spells drawn from both the sorcerer/wizard list and from the elementalist spell list. Spells drawn from the sorcerer/wizard list must be prepared ahead of time like a wizard, while innate elementalist spells are cast much like a sorcerer's magic.
To learn, prepare, or cast a spell, the elementalist much have an Intelligence score of at least 10 + the spell level, and a Wisdom score of at least 5 + the spell level. The Difficulty Class for a saving throw against an Elementalist's spell is 7 + the spell level + the elementalist's Intelligence modifier + the elementalist's Wisdom modifier.
Like other spellcasters, a elementalist can cast only a certain number of spells of each spell level per day. Her base daily spell allotment is given on Table: The Elementalist. In addition, she receives bonus spells per day if she has a high Intelligence score.
An elementalist may know any number of spells from the Sorcerer/Wizard list, provided she inscribes them in her spellbook. She may prepare these arcane spells by getting a good night's rest and spending 1 hour studying her spellbook. While studying, she decides which spells to prepare for the day. She has no need to prepare any of the spells she knows from the Elementalist spell list.
An elementalist may substitute Draconic for one of the bonus languages available to the character because of her race.
An elementalist can obtain a familiar in exactly the same manner as a wizard or sorcerer.
At 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th level, an elementalist gains a bonus feat. At each such opportunity, she can choose a metamagic feat, an item creation feat (if 10th level or higher), or Spell Mastery. The elementalist must still meet all prerequisites for a bonus feat, including caster level minimums.
These bonus feats are in addition to the feat that a character of any class gets from advancing levels. The elementalist is not limited to the above listed feats.
While the elementalist does not begin play with a spellbook, she may purchase one at any time. She may add spells to her spellbook like a wizard if she succeeds on a DC 35 spellcraft roll. In all other respects an elementalist's spellbook functions like a wizard's spellbook. She must study her spellbook each day to prepare spells that are stored in it. She does not need to prepare Read Magic, however.
The elementalist may cast a maximum of 2 spells from each spell level per day from the sorcerer/wizard list. All other spells cast must be from the Elementalist list, which do not require preparation.
