(5) Derrel: Kibin just needs someone to hold the door open.
(1) GM: You see a large procession of lower class people - peasants, farmers, laborers, and the like - who appear to have simply picked up all their possessions and set off on a trip. Some have donkeys pulling carts, a few have their belongings tied to a donkey's pack saddle, but all appear to be carrying everything they own, and are quite somber.
(1) GM: There's an awful lot of them, but they don't appear to be fleeing war or anything.
(2) Kibin: [Bad dice format] - [hmmm0]
(2) Kibin: (hmmm?
(5) Derrel: "What's up?"
(1) GM: Peasant: Oh, I can't speak for everyone else... but I decided it was probably a bad idea to be in Peoria after the Countess van Krankzinnigheid married King Tanet.
(3) Kaylin: brb, need to restart openRPG
(5) Derrel: (Do I know who those people are?
(1) GM: (Knoweledge:Nobility and Royalty?)
** (3) Kaylin found the F4 macro key **
(3) Kaylin: Disconnecting from server...
(3) Kaylin (exit): 10:23
(5) Derrel: (Not with a single skill point at each level up)
(2) Kibin: (ooookay.)
(1) GM: (You're playing a human, right?)
(5) Derrel: (Yep)
(1) GM: (did you forget human bonus skill points?)
(5) Derrel: (...I think so)
(1) GM: (humans get 1 extra skill point per level, above and beyond what they would normally get... 4 extra, for 1st.)
(6) Kaylin (enter): 10:25
(4) Elorin: (so, you have another 17 skill poings to spend)
(1) GM: (Welcome back)
(6) Kaylin: (thanks, openRPG wasn't displaying text right)
(4) Elorin: (I think Knowledge Nobility and Royalty is a class skill for Paladins...)
(4) Elorin: (but that would be metagaming)
(5) Derrel: (I've apparently spent 16)
(1) GM: (Small enough decision that it can wait; for now, though, Kaylin: You heard the peasant - Knoweledge: Nobility and Royalty?)
(6) Kaylin: (I only have a +12 bonus to checks on that total, but that's probably enough...)
(1) GM: (roll the die anyway; there differing amounts of useful info that come up with different rolls.)
(6) Kaylin: Knowledge: Nobility and Royalty Skill Check: [1d20+12] -> [13,12] = (25)
(6) Kaylin: (yay)
whispering to Kaylin, You've heard of King Tanet - he's a young King runs a small but prosperous kingdom well. You're fairly certain the countess can't be from anywhere nearby, though.... you would have heard of her.
(1) GM: (anyone asking the peasants who they are referring to?)
(6) Kaylin (whispering): er, I missed something here...

whispering to Kaylin, that was whispered....
(5) Derrel: "Who are you refering to?"
(6) Kaylin: I've heard of this King... he runs a kingdom nearby, but thecountess isn't from anywhere near
(1) GM: Peasant: Ah, King Tanet - a better ruler there never was. Nobody measure's up quite so well. A bit young yet, though, and still unmarried; such a pity he's been ensnared by the Countess.
(6) Kaylin: (unmarried?)
(5) Derrel: "What's wrong with the countess?"
(1) GM: The peasant momentarily closes his eyes, and smiles
(1) GM: Peasant: Ah, the countess... such a sight to behold ...
(1) GM: The peasant then opens his eyes, and frowns
(1) GM: Peasant: But not someone you want giving orders.
(1) GM: The peasant shudders.
(1) GM: Peasant: Or nearby, if you don't have something she wants.
(1) GM: Peasant: Or if you do, but she doesn't have reason not to hurt you....
(5) Derrel: "Well, good luck with the move."
(1) GM: Peasant: Thanks.
whispering to Kaylin, Yes, unmarried; I forgot to mention that in the whisper earlier, didn't I? :)
(2) Kibin: (people now have extremely short attention spans :P)
(6) Kaylin: (it's 10:30 AM, I'm nearly asleep :D)
(1) GM: Jason: Interesting. A royal wedding?
(6) Kaylin: Was it an expensive wedding?
(4) Elorin: Now why would such a good ruler be interested in a Countess like that?
(1) GM: Peasant: Hasn't happened yet. The preparations are still in progress; all the expected foriegners are due in about a week for the ceremony.
(1) GM: Peasant: You haven't seen the Countess.
(6) Kaylin: (we should, I take it... *licks lips*)
(4) Elorin: Good sense blinded by beauty, I take it?
(1) GM: Peasant: Heh; and a silver tongue.
** (2) Kibin wonders what that means. **
(6) Kaylin: (it means we aren't going to bump uglies, we're going to bump hotties)
(4) Elorin: (OOC: I"m wondering if this countess is a succubus)
(1) GM: (If things go well, you will find out exactly what's up... eventually.)
(1) GM: The one you stopped continues on his way, but a great many peasants continue to pass by.
(4) Elorin: Well, much as I would like to try to keep a bad ruler out of power, we have some more immediate concerns.
(4) Elorin: We still have to take care of that axe, and do something about the little elemental.
** (2) Kibin asks Jason, "Why'd you go pale when you saw that axe?" **
(4) Elorin: Not to mention Mr. Sorcerer
(1) GM: Derrel, make a will save.
(1) GM: At -10.
(6) Kaylin: (uhoh)
(1) GM: Narf? Will save?
(5) Derrel: Will save: [1d20+7] -> [10,7] = (17)
(1) Jason: It was over a thousand years ago... forgive my rambling, but I haven't thought about that period in a long time... it's ... a painful memory.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: The battle of Sheogorath... the plains of Sheogorath... or they were, anway. Heh. It makes sense, now. Of course the axe didn't know if it was a high mountain or a low valley. It was a fertile plain, full of farms. Now... it doesn't really exist; that spot where it was is both a mountain and a valley... and nothing grows there. A hundred miles in every direction of sand, rock, and soil, brought so hot it fused into one solid sheet; stressed so much the entire plain twisted ... and all to remove the cover I was using to hide behind and wear down The Devil.
(1) Jason: ....
(1) Jason: Well, Devil isn't quite right. It's the title he took for himself ... that he earned ... after he did The Ritual.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: We didn't know what it was, at the time; me and the common little lizard-folk prowling at the edges. The wizard told us he had researched this new ritual spell he wanted to try out, and wanted us to be there to witness it. The components were definately unusual: a large plate of iron, three inches thick, made by magic, and carved to a perfect circle twenty feet across. Blood of utmost purity, Paladin's blood. A Tiger Lilly, a common flower, at the time. Blood of utmost depravity, that of a Quasit is what he used, but he did say the blood of any True Demon would work. Ground, mixed, and then swallowed, and two nails, one pounded into each foot, then fused to the plate.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: Then there was The Ritual itself. From the rising of the full moon to it's setting, he chanted. The same Word, over and over again. He'd said the Word was the keystone, that he hadn't written it down anywhere, as a precaution.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: Our adversary seems to have everything of the ritual... save for the Word. I was hoping it was lost, that Word. Apparently it is, save for a memory carved deep in those who witnessed the events.... and their children, and their children's children... and me. Such a Word leaves a mark. I haven't so much as thought it since that day... and I still remember, clear as ever. He must have been hoping to glean it from the mark buried in your old form, Kibin.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: From the moment he started, the iron started to coat him.... change him. It flowed up from the plate at his feet, coated his legs and knees, then his hips, chest, arms, and finally his head, just as the moon was setting. The result was something like that of a Body of Iron spell. But he demonstrated to us quite quickly that it wasn't anywhere near so limited. When the moon had set, he cast spells. None of them fizzled from being unable to make the proper motions with his hands - he seemed more flexible than before, even, and tireless, too.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: Then he had us cast a few spells at him. We started with fairly harmless stuff; a few charms, and the like; things that, while potentially embarrasing later, would do no real harm. None of it worked. He'd somehow managed to incorporate a Golem's spell immunity into the magical working. After he worked up his courage a might, he asked us to pelt him with harder stuff - fire, lightning, cold, and so on. He shrugged that off, just as easily. We even threw a few Dispels his way - nothing seemed to affect his magical working. We all congradulated him on his discovery, and went home.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: Little did we know.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: He wasn't after knoweledge, he was after power. And power he got. Almost no spell would touch him, and those that did, well, he could shrug them off. That Iron Body of his healed just as well as his flesh had. And every day, his power grew, as did his form.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: For the first week or so, he could only cast his normal allotment of spells. A month in, he could cast any spell he'd placed in his spellbook, but only a few spells of each class each day. After six months, it was hard to say there was a limit to his casting.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: And after the first month, he had taken to conquering. He took out entire armies, single handedly. Soon, he didn't have to fight anymore, as word of his power had spread so much that armies would not stand against him. Anytime that black figure clouded the horizon, everyone simply scattered. He walked over half the continent, before taking on the Guildmages on the plains of Sheogorath, where he had first cast The Ritual.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: The Devil won that battle. He wiped out the Guild of the day... but as he was dying while I tried to tend his wounds, my guide on my path of magic spoke with someone, pleaded with someone. I couldn't see him, but whoever it was seemed awfully busy; my guide kept changing the direction he was pleading in.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: And then there was blackness. The Devil had come closer. He cast a spell... there was flame... and then I died, for the first time.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: But I wasn't taken. The hooded farmer was very busy, and wouldn't pause to talk. He seemed to avoid me like the plauge. Wouldn't come near me. I got angry, and threw a rock at the Devil. It seemed to get his attention away from the people he was busy killing, so I did it again. Then he swatted me. I woke with a headache ... later, the time was hard to judge, but the battle was clearly over. The Devil was still near, so I threw another rock at him. A bigger one. He swatted me again. I woke with a headache... and this time, found something to hide in ... a bird, I think. Hit him three times with more rocks before he figured out what I was hiding in, and swatted me again.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: After that the memories blurr together - I'd wake up, hide in something, and hit him with boulders until he swatted me. Then I'd repeat the process. After a few months, I noticed something - whenever I hit him with a boulder, he got just a little bit smaller. He'd grow again between when he swatted me and when I woke with a headache... but he didn't quite recover fully in those intervals.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: A few months later, he noticed, too, and started exterminating anything I could hide in, melting everything I could throw, and even twisted the landscape to get at the things underground after I started hiding in them. But he couldn't stop things wandering in from the edges, and I really didn't like him.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: As the devil shrank, he weakened. I walked his power backwards through it's growth. He stopped being able to swat me quite so easily, and it went faster after that. Then, one day, when he was back down to the size he started, the last boulder I could find broke him.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: I found a temple that was still intact. The clerics frightened me very badly, but I did see the calander on the way out.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: I had been fighting that monster for three years straight.
(1) Jason: ...
(1) Jason: And the hooded farmer still wouldn't come anywhere near me. I so wanted to talk to him.... I just knew he had a bed for me to sleep in....
(1) GM: (let me know when you're done reading)
(6) Kaylin: (wow.)
(1) GM: (I take it you like it, then?)
(5) Derrel: (Nice!)
(6) Kaylin: That's quite a story...
(6) Kaylin: (awesomely done, GM :)
(2) Kibin: Lizard-folk?
(5) Derrel: (Kobolds)
(1) GM: Jason: Like you used to be.
(2) Kibin: Ah.
(1) GM: Jason: It was there home area; they were so much more plentiful then....
(1) GM: (Done, Elorin?)
(4) Elorin: (yes)
(4) Elorin: (very good backstory)
(2) Kibin: (me done too)
(1) GM: Cutscene: A thousand miles away, a sorceror stares into his mirror... jaw open.
(6) Kaylin: (ooh, cutscenes too.. high class)
(1) GM: (Cutscene over.)
(2) Kibin: (can we get this made into a movie?)
(6) Kaylin: (only if I cut my Robe lower)
(1) GM: (I lack the budget, sorry)
(2) Kibin: (lol.)
(5) Derrel: (Yeah, Jason totally rocks)
(1) GM: Jason: Do we really have any leads on the Sorceror at the moment?
(5) Derrel: (hehehe)
(6) Kaylin: (now I have to get a good backstory too)
(1) GM: (It was a competition of endurance - and Jason never loses those, in the long run....)
(2) Kibin: Well... not really.
(1) GM: (Fortunately for him, the Wizard had Necromancy as one of his forbidden schools....)
(1) GM: A peasant woman walks up to the Paladin in full plate:
(6) Kaylin: (gaah, he gets _all_ the girls)
(5) Derrel: (A peasant woman in full plate?)
(1) GM: Peasant Woman: Please, can you stop the wedding? It will be the ruin of Peoria, and I don't even want to think about what will happen to everyone when She has her way.
(1) GM: (Fun with English ambiguity....)
(1) GM: (That's parsed (Paladin in Full Plate))
(2) Kibin: Does everyone around here know about us now?
(5) Derrel: (Do we have a clue to the sorcerers' location?)
(6) Kaylin: With Mr. Shiny here? I'd say so.
(1) GM: (Mostly, he gets the girls for the Paladin's Oath - he can't turn her down, you see....)
(6) Kaylin: (lol)
(5) Derrel: "Well, I can try."
(1) GM: (unless the call for aid is for evil ends....)
(1) GM: Peasant Woman: Thank you.
(4) Elorin: (if it was all about charisma, well I've got a 17, so I'd get some too :P)
(1) GM: (Jason's got a 31 at the moment. You really think they would even see your character?)
(6) Kaylin: (ranger with 17 cha? o.O)
(4) Elorin: (Favored Soul with 17 cha)
(6) Kaylin: (I feel ugly now :/ only 14...)
(2) Kibin: (jason is sexy.)
(1) GM: (Jason: Sorceror)
(1) GM: (Jason: Dead)
(6) Kaylin: (no wonder I hugged him)
(4) Elorin: (Charisma determines my bonus spells and highest spell level I can cast)
(1) GM: (Necrophelia's illeagle in most places)
(1) GM: Jason: Well, I always wanted to see a restful kingdom anyway....
(4) Elorin: Could we get rid of that axe first?
(4) Elorin: I don't think it should take very long
(1) GM: A random cleric walks by....
(1) GM: Cleric: I had the oddest dream recently....
(5) Derrel: (And suddenly, without warning, plot grabbed a random passerby)
(4) Elorin: About what?
(6) Kaylin: (dun dun duuuun)
(1) GM: (more like birthed....)
(1) GM: Cleric: I was told to make a helmet for an axe.
(1) GM: Cleric: So I did.
(1) GM: Cleric: Don't know why it's cursed.
(6) Kaylin: (these guys put too much in dreams. I dream about jumping off cliffs...)
(4) Elorin: What kind of helmet? What curse?
(1) GM: (Me, I dream of bending reality to my will)
(1) GM: Cleric: It alters peoples alignment. I had it identified after I made it. Quite useless, really.
(1) GM: Cleric: And yet I had to make it.
(1) GM: Cleric: Why?
(4) Elorin: How exactly does it alter alignment?
(1) GM: Cleric: Reverses them.
(6) Kaylin: (aargh, CE to LG?)
(1) GM: Cleric: Good to evil, Lawful to chaotic... neutral to extreme.
(1) GM: (Yep)
(4) Elorin: Well, with it being made for an axe, I think your deity was doing a little plotting about an axe we've got back in the wagon
(5) Derrel: "We found an evil axe."
(4) Elorin: It's intelligent, you see, and quite evil
(1) GM: Cleric: An aligned axe? That's.... different.
(1) GM: Cleric: Well, I guess I'm supposed to put it on this axe, then.
(2) Kibin: Isn't it over in the wagon?
(4) Elorin: Do you have the helmet with you?
(6) Kaylin: (how do you go about putting a helmet on an axe?)
(1) GM: Cleric: Yes, I do. I can't even sell the thing to the shop. Would you like to buy it?
(1) GM: (same way you would a sheath)
(6) Kaylin: (he's going to donate, right?)
(2) Kibin: (isn't derrel the only guy with a magic sword?
(4) Elorin: (does it look like an axe sheath?)
(1) GM: The Cleric pulls out what looks like an exceptionally ornate axe sheath... just perfect for the one in the wagon.
(1) GM: (If someone bluffs him out of it, he might)
(1) GM: (Of course, Clerics tend to have high Sense Motive rolls...)
(5) Derrel: "So...How much money do we have?"
(6) Kaylin: (wel, don't look at me, I'm ugly)
(2) Kibin: (of course, i have an unusually high bluff roll)
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, I suppose I can spare some cash.
(4) Elorin: It's for a good cause, and seems to have been commissioned by your own god specifically for this purpose...
(2) Kibin: I'm not going to help, no paws to wield that axe.
(1) GM: Cleric: Yes... but I still need to replenish the supplies I used....
(1) GM: (Yet)
(2) Kibin: I mean no hands. Doh.
(2) Kibin: Thumbs. Whatever.
(4) Elorin: How much did it cost?
(1) GM: (I knew what you meant)
(1) GM: Cleric: The supplies to build the thing ran 4,000 gp... but my fellow clerics crafted them up to begin with; it really only cost the temple about a thousand.
(1) GM: Cleric: Strangely, I didn't have to put any of my own energies into it....
(4) Elorin: I think we can afford that
(4) Elorin: 200 gp from each of us?
(6) Kaylin: Acceptable.
(1) GM: Jason: I can spare it, without trouble.
(5) Derrel: "That should cover it."
(6) Kaylin: (how much cash does he HAVE?)
(1) GM: Cleric: Well, you've bought yourself a weird helmet.
(1) GM: The cleric takes the money.
(1) GM: And then leaves.
(1) GM: (about 8 grand; not much, at this level)
(6) Kaylin: (ah)
(4) Elorin: (was that 200 from each of us, or did someone just pay the whole bill?)
(1) GM: (200 from each)
(2) Kibin: Meh, anyone want to pay for me...
(1) GM: (Leaving the helmet behind, of course)
(1) GM: Jason: Sure; I'll cover it. You've had a few hard weeks.
(4) Elorin: Well now, this should be interesting
** (4) Elorin heads back to the wagon with the helment **
(1) GM: Jason follows.
** (6) Kaylin goes with Elorin **
** (2) Kibin follows too. **
** (5) Derrel stays here, watching the people. **
(1) GM: (Perfect!)
(1) GM: At the wagon, the axe hears you comming
(5) Derrel: (...Or maybe I should follow?)
(1) GM: Axe: Wait! You promised you wouldn't!
(5) Derrel: (/me glares dubiously at the GM)
** (6) Kaylin feels guilty **
(5) Derrel: (Do I hear that?)
(1) GM: Jason: I'm getting so forgetful in my old age... I don't remember that....
(1) GM: (NO)
(2) Kibin: Eh, Jason didn't promise.
** (6) Kaylin goes to wait with Derrel **
(1) GM: Jason picks the cover up with telekenesis, and slips it onto the axe....
(4) Elorin: (how does the axe know anything about what we're planning for it?)
(1) GM: Axe Will save: [1d20+7] -> [5,7] = (12)
(5) Derrel: (Telepathy?)
(1) GM: The axe, failing it's save, screams in an unholy manner.
(6) Kaylin: (good thing I can't hear that)
(1) GM: The "helmet" glows a bright gold, and then loses it's power.
(4) Elorin: (we ID'd it, telepathy wasn't on the list)
(1) GM: Axe: Thank you... Thank you....
(1) GM: (it rolled a 20 on it's listen check....)
** (6) Kaylin heads back to the wagon **
(1) GM: Axe: Now get me to that Paladin; he seems the most compatible...
(6) Kaylin: (aargh.)
(1) GM: Axe: Other than me having to share....
(2) Kibin: Um, he already has a weapon.
(5) Derrel: (Couldn't it just reverse the evil alignment?)
(4) Elorin: And I haven't noticed him dual-wielding anything
(5) Derrel: (No dual-weilding)
(1) GM: Axe: Yeah, I know. She'll hate me. I'm hoping when we fight it out, I'll win, and she will have to be the one to leave. But then again... hmm, can't really take what's hers from her, now can I?
(1) GM: Axe: I'm afraid I couldn't be as gentle with the rest of you.
(6) Kaylin: Who are you speaking of?
(1) GM: Axe: Why, that righteous sword, of course.
(2) Kibin: (what about me? :P)
(2) Kibin: (i'm neutral... so...)
(6) Kaylin: How cute.
(1) GM: Axe: Ah, she is a vision of beauty.
(6) Kaylin: (she's a nun, perverted axe :D )
(6) Kaylin: Yeah yeah, hmmph.
(1) GM: (What could they possibly do that would violate her oaths?)
** (6) Kaylin stomps off to sulk in the back of the wagon **
(2) Kibin: Okay... I think we have enough talkative axes already.
** (6) Kaylin combs her hair while complaining about boring axes **
(1) GM: Axe: I'm not going to lie, now. I know that would be wrong.
(1) GM: Jason: Well, I suppose we can find a merchant willing to sell it to a different Paladin.
(6) Kaylin: (brb, loading up the dishwasher)
(1) GM: Axe: Hmm ... that would be good.
(2) Kibin: Hmmm. Maybe we could at least get some more accurate information first?
(1) GM: The axe laughs.
(1) GM: Axe: My other self pretty much told you everything he knew. I don't really have anything to add. You did a good job conning him.
(1) GM: Axe: He got exactly what he deserved. Now if I could only server the side of good enough....
(4) Elorin: I'm afraid you'll have to do that with someone outside of this party, unfortunately.
(2) Kibin: I think I need to stay away from those helmets...
(1) GM: Axe: Ah well. Care to get me to a shop?
(1) GM: Axe: although I can wait, if you need to help that peasant parade.
(4) Elorin: Back to Ye Olde Shoppe of Majicke (or however it's spelled) again?
(1) GM: (It's spelled however you feel like, long as it's recognizeable)
(2) Kibin: Guess so.
** (5) Derrel wonders if the axe has a name **
(2) Kibin: (may have to go away for a while to kill my sister's friends)
(4) Elorin: (oh, right, I was going to ask that before trying to introduce the helm as "a proper sheath for such a powerful weapon")
(2) Kibin: Eh, let's just give the axe to the people at the shop already.
(1) GM: When you reach the shop, the axe does the talking, and yet, without decieveing anyone at all, he somehow manages to sell himself for full market value...
(2) Kibin: :blinks.
** (2) Kibin blinls. **
(5) Derrel: (High charisma?)
** (2) Kibin blinks. **
(1) GM: And the shoppkeeper takes the axe, and hands the party 25,830 gp
(4) Elorin: (nice)
(6) Kaylin: Bye bye dearie.
(6) Kaylin: And helloooo gold
(1) GM: ([25830/5] -> 5166)
(4) Elorin: [25830/5] -> 5166 each
(2) Kibin: Yay, more shineys.
** (2) Kibin grabs his portion of gold in his mouth and waits to go back to the wagon. **
(1) GM: Jason goes and grabs Derrel, handing him his share of the loot, and explaining that they reformed the axe first... just not what the axe SAID about it.
(1) GM: Before....
(5) Derrel: "Fine with me."
(4) Elorin: So that's taken care of. We still have a small fire elemental probably getting quite bored in the wagon to deal with.
(2) Kibin: Maybe this shop can open a portal to it's home plane?
(1) GM: Merchant: A lost fire elemental? I owe a favor to a fire elemental... little one, right?
(4) Elorin: Yes, real small
(6) Kaylin: Called Campfire or something
(1) GM: Merchant: About yay high, speaks common?
(4) Elorin: yes
(1) GM: Merchant: Just bring him here.
(1) GM: Merchant: I'll take care of him.
** (4) Elorin gets the elemental-on-a-shield from the wagon **
(1) GM: The merchant lays out an odd cloth substance, then the little elemental, seemingly recognizing him says: Yay! Send me Home! This place too cold!
(6) Kaylin: Do you have a ring of Feather Falling I could buy?
(4) Elorin: (at the shop?)
(6) Kaylin: (yes)
(2) Kibin: Meh. Just get a scroll of feather fall.
(1) GM: Merchant: Why yes, I do. Several scrolls, as well.
(6) Kaylin: (ring is easier)
(1) GM: Merchant: Handy stuff for mountainclimbers. Planining an checking out any peaks?
(2) Kibin: Hehe, actually Kaylin has a talent to fall into any pit she comes across.
(5) Derrel: (Fizbins' feather fall?)
(1) GM: Merchant: Well, them's the pits, isn't it?
(1) GM: Merchant: If you've got the money honey....
(6) Kaylin: Aww, of course I do, dearie.
(2) Kibin: How long have you been waiting to spring that pun on someone?
** (6) Kaylin pays **
(1) GM: Kaylin gets her ring.
(1) GM: Merchant: Oh... I spring it on people every few days.
** (6) Kaylin puts the ring on **
(1) GM: Jason: So, off to Peoris?
(2) Kibin: I guess so.
(1) GM: (Grr ... stupid keyboard; Peoria)
(2) Kibin (whispering): what about the warping thingie? :P
(4) Elorin: With or without the wagon?
(4) Elorin: We can go a lot faster Wind Walking
(2) Kibin: Can't you cast windwalking on the wagon?
(1) GM: Jason: Well, I suppose we can leave it behind. But do you really want to sleep outside it's shelter?
(1) GM: Jason: What with demon magnet over there.
(2) Kibin: If we're sneaking into the castle, it might be a good idea to leave Derrel behind.
(1) GM: (Knoweledge: Geography, anyone?)
(6) Kaylin: Knowledge: Geography Skill Check: [1d20+12] -> [17,12] = (29)
(6) Kaylin: (at least that merchant seemed to appreciate my feminine charms. bah)
whispering to Kaylin, You recall that Peoria is nearby - only about 20 miles - and can be reached in a little over a day even with the wagon
(5) Derrel: (Food)
(6) Kaylin: Peoria is quite close, we could be there tomorrow if we took the wagon.
(4) Elorin: and the wedding isn't for a week
(1) GM: Jason: And who knows? We might even evade the Sorceror for a while, with that kind of a distance displacement.
(1) GM: Jason: As long as everyone rides in the wagon, that is.
(2) Kibin: I could probally keep up if I'm outside the wagon...
(4) Elorin: But then the Sorcerer could scry on you
(6) Kaylin: You're going in the wagon or I'll turn you into a shoulder parrot
(1) GM: Jason: Horses pulling a wagon go slowly; anyone could keep up. I just didn't suspect you would want to walk when there was another easy option.
(2) Kibin: I'll ride anyway...
(6) Kaylin: Good wolfie
** (2) Kibin growls at Kaylin. **
** (6) Kaylin winks at Kibin **
(1) GM: Jason: Now now, no eating the artillery.
(2) Kibin: (three hours, i'd like to get to do the great warping thingie by then :)
(1) GM: Anything else before we all ride off?
(6) Kaylin: nope
(1) GM: In that case, everyone climbs into the fog bank...
(2) Kibin: (kaylin could do researching :P)
(1) GM: Later on the next day, you arrive.
(1) GM: You've reached the kingdom of Peoria; it's a small kingdom, situated in a fertle valley with some plains in the middle of some mountains; quite a defensible location, with easy access to mining, timber, and farmland. The cities on the maps are all walled, and the graneries seem quite full.
(1) GM: The place looks like a great many of the lower classmen have simply left recently, and there's a lot of the upper crust wandering around looking to hire servants.... and not having much luck.
(2) Kibin: Hmmm, Kaylin, do you think you could do a permanent polymorph type thingie on me?
(6) Kaylin: (fry the bastards)
(6) Kaylin: I might be able to... I'll have to spend a considerable amount of time researching it, though.
(1) GM: You pass a rather unusual shop. Diamonds, large diamonds, simply seem to hang in the air behind the wooden frame of the store. Even to the untrained eye, obviously worth a very large sum... each. No window or glass is in evidence, but when you see someone reach for one, their hand obviously meets an impassable barrier around the gems.
(1) GM: The wood of the shop is rather old, however, and is starting to warp and rot.
(2) Kibin: (are you tempting us?)
(6) Kaylin: (fireball...*cough*)
(1) GM: (nobody asking about the upcoming wedding, or heading into the shop?)
(6) Kaylin: You know, those diamonds look like the perfect thing for a polymorph spell...
(2) Kibin: You're not planning on stealing them, I hope.
(6) Kaylin: Probably not, but I do happen to have Ethereal Jaunt prepared... *looks at Derrel* no
** (5) Derrel glares at Kaylin **
(1) GM: Jason reaches over to touch one of the diamonds... and his hand gets blocked, too.
(6) Kaylin: *cough*
(4) Elorin: (hmm, 27 spell slots high enough for dispel magic...)
(4) Elorin: (but I'm good aligned, so no)
(1) GM: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+17] -> [14,17] = (31)
(1) GM: Jason: Ahh... a Wall of Force....
(1) GM: Jason: Seems pricy to make, but quite the effect....
(6) Kaylin: (bah, I wanted to roll a natural 1...)
(1) GM: [1d20] -> [1] = (1)
(1) GM: (How's that?)
(6) Kaylin: (my spellcraft bonus ensures I roll low ;)
(1) GM: You notice a sign on the door that says "open" and a bell hooked to the door.
(1) GM: A richly dressed merchant apporoaches...
(1) GM: Merchant: By any chance are you available in five days? I have a wedding to attend, and need attendants. Mine seem to have left recently...
(5) Derrel: Int check: [1d20-1] -> [8,-1] = (7)
(6) Kaylin: Would we be paid for our troubles?
(5) Derrel: (Pretty sparkles...)
(4) Elorin: I assume you're referring to the king's wedding?
(1) GM: Merchant: Of course! All attendants at these functions are well paid. I'll have to have a priest look you over, though; can't afford to let any assasins in to see the Countess or the King.
(6) Kaylin: (damnit)
(2) Kibin: Any job for the talking wolf over here?
(1) GM: Merchant: Could also use you at court.... nothing like a few well-dressed servants when they are in short supply...
(6) Kaylin: Comic relief, wolfie
(5) Derrel: (Derrel would disapprove of outright assasination. Now, if she should happen to break a law...)
(1) GM: Merchant: Hmm... could be quite the rage....
(6) Kaylin: (see, merchants appreciate my charisma.)
(1) GM: Merchant: I don't hearken with dead guys, though.
(2) Kibin: He can be special effects.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh well.
** (2) Kibin smiles. **
(1) GM: Jason fades from sight.
(1) GM: Merchant: Ah.\
(2) Kibin: I guess we come back here in 5 days, ythen.
(1) GM: Merchant: If you are available earlier, I could use your appearance at court... almost nobody has attendants anymore, save those extremely loyal to the king.
(1) GM: Merchant: It would really increase my standing at court...
(6) Kaylin: Well, we weren't doing much anyways, were we?
(2) Kibin: Um, yes we was.
(4) Elorin: What would we be doing as your attendants?
(6) Kaylin: (such as Gather Information checks)
(5) Derrel: (Not that I recall - Except trying to get in to see the countess)
(6) Kaylin: (see, we could get info on her... I could swap dress tips or something)
(4) Elorin: (people at court probably know more about the situation and the countess than the common people)
(2) Kibin: (two in one)
(2) Kibin: (okay lets go, hurry this up)
(1) GM: Merchant: Oh, the plate man can be my guard ... although you will need peace-ties on the sword... the wolf can entertain, and the lovely lady can look attractive. The priest guy? Well, you can be another guard. I can dress myself.
(6) Kaylin: ^^
(4) Elorin: (hmm, dress tips... pull out the slave girl outfit we sold :P)
(1) GM: Merchant: 10 gp a day a person; how about it?
(6) Kaylin: (we didn't sell it, I bought it :D )
(4) Elorin: (oh)
(6) Kaylin: (it's in the Bag)
(2) Kibin: How would I entertain?
(6) Kaylin: That sounds reasonable to me.
(1) GM: Merchant: Do you know anything about philosophy? Perhaps recount the story of how you came to be?
(1) GM: Merchant: One such as yourself must have many tails.
(6) Kaylin: (lol)
(2) Kibin: What is with people and puns today?
(1) GM: Merchant: The countess is fond of them, so they are in vogue.
(1) GM: Merchant: So, do we have a deal?
(6) Kaylin: (now we know she's evil)
** (2) Kibin whimpers. "Can't I just guard with Derrel?" **
(5) Derrel: "Sounds good to me."
(1) GM: Merchant: Sure; I suppose that might work... but if we fake you being a normal animal, you'd need to be muzzled at court.
** (2) Kibin whimpers again... **
(2) Kibin: How long would it take?
(1) GM: Merchant: Court usually runs from about the tenth hour of the morning to the second of the afternoon.
(1) GM: Merchant: The wedding and reception are expected to last all day, and well into the night.
(2) Kibin: Ah, so probally too long for a polymorph spell.
(6) Kaylin: Indeed.
(1) GM: Merchant: Although the King and Queen are expected to leave the party quite early on their wedding night.
(6) Kaylin: however, it will give me an opportunity to cogitate about a permanent spell.
(6) Kaylin: (hohoho)
(1) GM: Merchant: He needs an heir, after all.
(6) Kaylin: (I wish I had Scry *cough*)
(2) Kibin: I guess I'll go...
(4) Elorin: (if you mention that aloud, I might mention that I know Greater Scrying...)
(6) Kaylin: (oooh)
(1) GM: Merchant: Great! Now off to see the Paladin for making sure you aren't evil. You understand, of course; can't let evil into the palace.
(4) Elorin: (but that should probably wait until we're in private)
(6) Kaylin: (yeah, save the X rated stuff :P)
(2) Kibin: Can I sue the paladin for exposing me to potentially lethal radiation?
(6) Kaylin: no
(1) GM: (You hear a moo from somewhere up above...)
(6) Kaylin: lawyers are LE
(4) Elorin: I don't think that will be a problem. "Full plate man" is a paladin himself.
(1) GM: Merchant: Perhaps; but anyone can claim to be a Paladin. I need one of the Court Paladins to clear you.
(6) Kaylin: seems reasonable.
(1) GM: Merchant: Ready to go?
(5) Derrel: "Yes."
(6) Kaylin: Off we go then
(1) GM: The merchant hands each of you the first day's wage of 10 gp, then leads you off to the palace.
(1) GM: At the Palace, the merchant mentions his new servants to one of the guards, who stands and stares at the party for quite some time.
(1) GM: Guard: They're clean.
(6) Kaylin: (he was ogling me, wasn't he.)
(2) Kibin: Can I at least keep my armor on?
(6) Kaylin: (by the way, what was the "moo" about?)
(1) GM: (takes three rounds to get strength of all auras, per aura - he took his time checking everyone individually; a Paladin wouldn't ogle someone who wasn't his to ogle)
(6) Kaylin: (ah. does that mean they're unseduceable?)
(1) GM: (Cow in the sky, ready to come down and land on someone who was leaning a little too much towards munchkinism)
(1) GM: (Depends on the law of the area they grew up in)
(2) Kibin: (munchkinism? i'm no munchkin)\
(6) Kaylin: (hmm.)
(2) Kibin: (i was joking)
(1) GM: The merchant takes you in to court, first asking if anyone wanted to change into something else; seems there is a changing room for the servants, complete with an apprentice wizard to clean people up.
(6) Kaylin: Oooh, a wizard
** (6) Kaylin goes to compare notes **
(1) GM: (1st level - Prestidigitaiton - he doesn't know much)
(2) Kibin: I don't suppose any of your wizards has a polymorph spell so I don't have to wear a muzzle?
(1) GM: (1st level Wizard, that is)
(6) Kaylin: (then I'll intimidate him ;)
** (5) Derrel gets the road dust off him **
** (4) Elorin gets cleaned up **
(1) GM: The lowly wizard carefully cleans everyone.
** (6) Kaylin changes into a slave-girl outfit and gets cleaned up **
(1) GM: (stowing the Robe of the Archmagi?)
(2) Kibin: (hehe, no, i think she just alters what's under the robe)
(2) Kibin: (pinning the robe up as to be less visible ;)
(6) Kaylin: (yeah, I'll save removing the robe for later)
(1) GM: After everyone gets cleaned up, you head into court....
(1) GM: You find yourselves in a reasonably opulent throne room. Nobody's flying around, nor sitting on flying carpets, but it's quite a sight none the less. The cieling is vaulted stone, 30 feet high, with paintings that have long since been obscurred to the point where they can't be readily identified due to the smoke from the many oil lamps that keep the room well-lit. The young king sits on his throne, which, while not solid gold, is quite sturdy and exquisitly crafted wood. It looks a little uncomfortable, though. A few servants tend the king, but most the attention seems to be centered on the woman at his right, who wears no crown.
(2) Kibin: (what about my muzzle? :P)
(1) GM: (Merchant gave it to you, and left it up to you to wear it or not)
(2) Kibin: (yay, so i don't have to wear it? :P)
(1) GM: (If you are willing to be obviously intelligent....)
(6) Kaylin: (be tactful, wear it for now)
(4) Elorin: (note he only said the muzzle was needed if you were going to pretend you were an ordinary animal)
(2) Kibin: (yay.)
(1) GM: King Tanet looks a little young for the job... and yet... there is an air of true respect in everyone about him... from his footment to his guards to the nobles about him - not everyone likes him, and nobody fawns, but everyone respects him. He seems deeply and thoroughly infatuated with the Countess... understandably so ... and he meets her gaze quite a lot.
(2) Kibin: :follows Derrel.
** (2) Kibin follows Derrel. **
** (5) Derrel follows Kibin **
(4) Elorin: (psst, paladin, detect evil on the countess)
(1) GM: You know the Countess van Krankzinnigheid as soon as you see her; she is a vision of beauty, dressed most elagantly in a dress trimmed in gold and embroidered in silver that shows off her assets quite speldedly, yet somehow demurely. And assests she has. You brefiefly wonder how she can stand upright, with such counterweights. Her sleeves poof out considerably from her arms, and occasionally you detect evidence of something a little harder than flesh near her wrists. Very thin and supple leather gloves adorn her hands, and a diamond ring sits on her left ring finger, while there is a very slight bulge inside her right hand glove, about what you might expect for a signet ring. She occasionally leans on what looks like a very well balanced quarterstaff, and wears an out-of-place rope around her waist, which holds two small pouches and two seemingly ornamental daggers. Most bizzarely, two prisms orbit her head in close proximity, one somewhere between red and yellow, the other a dusty red colour.
(1) GM: The nobility fawn about her, trying very hard to impress her, yet none flirting under the watchful eye of the King. It's quite apparent that everyone she wants to like her, does. She spends quite a lot of time meeting the gaze of the young King Tanet.
(1) GM: Everyone else, on the other hand....
(1) GM: The servants cringe when she walks near. They seem glad for the swarm of nobility wanting to do everything for her. Those "nobles" at court that can just barely claim the right and have nothing to offer her are all at the opposite end of the hall, looking a little frightened. You begin to understand why there were so many of the lower classes leaving....
** (5) Derrel stops following kibin **
(6) Kaylin: (oh jeez)
(2) Kibin (whispering): wouldn't i reconize the smell of a demon by now? :P
(6) Kaylin: (ioun stones, eh... what check to make to ID them?)
whispering to Kibin, you smell human. Lots of human. A few elves at court.
** (5) Derrel tries detect evil. **
(2) Kibin: (ioun kidney stones are funnier)
whispering to Kibin, but you don't smell any demons.
(6) Kaylin: (lol)
whispering to Derrel, Strong evil; after a little concentration, you can tell it's the Countess.
(1) GM: (Knoweledge(Arcana))
(2) Kibin: (AUUUUUUUUUGH! Ooo, +1 to AC!)
** (5) Derrel mutters, "Hmm...That's what I thought" **
(6) Kaylin: Knowledge: Arcana Skill Check: [1d20+23] -> [20,23] = (43)
(6) Kaylin: (YES!)
(4) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [10,10] = (20)
whispering to Kaylin, pass; go look up that section of the SRD.
(4) Elorin: what? (to Derrel)
(2) Kibin (whispering): is kaylin nearby?
(5) Derrel: "Oh, that thing we talked about."
whispering to Elorin, you don't hear anything particularly important; just a little wheeling and dealing, the nobles trying to get some leverage on the countess, or get into her good graces. She never tells anyone exactly where Krankzinnigheid is, though.
(1) GM: You are all grouped together around the merchant at the moment, of course.
(6) Kaylin (whispering): I don't see Red and Yellow anywhere
whispering to Kaylin, what's between red and yellow on the color wheel?
(6) Kaylin (whispering): *facepalms* ah, right.
whispering to Kaylin, I did that just to throw people off....
** (2) Kibin asks the merchant quietly, "Did anyone think to use detect evil on the Countess?" **
(5) Derrel: (...Subtle...)
(6) Kaylin: (very smooth.)
(2) Kibin: (yup :P)
(1) GM: Merchant: Oh, all the guards are Paladins. I'm sure she was checked at whatever door she used. Haven't heard from any of them specifically, though. Why do you ask?
(2) Kibin (whispering): do i spot a ring on the countess's finger?
(2) Kibin: Meh, just wondering.
whispering to Kibin, /nick GM
You know the Countess van Krankzinnigheid as soon as you see her; she is a vision of beauty, dressed most elagantly in a dress trimmed in gold and embroidered in silver that shows off her assets quite speldedly, yet somehow demurely. (6) Kaylin: (why is pac-man on the map?)
(6) Kaylin: (rofl)
(1) GM: Anyone else have anything to take care of before plot continues?
(2) Kibin: (nope)
(6) Kaylin: Those tones around her head..
(2) Kibin: (stupid having to keep OOC and IC knowledge seperate :P)
(6) Kaylin: she has a bonus to AC and caster level... she seems powerful.
(5) Derrel: (Derrel will suggest to the merchant that sometime before the wedding, perhaps a last 'Detect Evil' of the whole room, to make sure nobody sneaked in)
(6) Kaylin: (righ, wouldn't want an imposter imitating the Queen-to-be)
(1) GM: Merchant: She doesn't let the guards get within 60 feet of her, most the time. Something about all that oiled armor and smelly men cramping her style.
(2) Kibin: (there is no AC and caster level in this world :)
(6) Kaylin: (you kidding me?)
(5) Derrel: "Well, they don't need that to detect evil. Protecting her could be important. Just get one of them to take off the armor and get cleaned up)
(1) GM: (So she has aids that give a little more Oomph to her spells, and help her dodge)
(1) GM: Merchant: And the king gets nervous with more impressive men than he near her.
(6) Kaylin: (I want those)
(6) Kaylin: (they're pretty and powerful)
(4) Elorin: (In general, don't explain things in character in terms of rules mechanics)
(6) Kaylin: (oh, oops.)
(1) GM: Well, if there's nothing else....
** (6) Kaylin gets out a comb and starts tidying up her hair **
(5) Derrel: (Bah)
(2) Kibin: (well, i have something else, but i have no clue how to be tactful about it)
(1) GM: The Countess spies the pooch in the party, and comes down from her throne to say hello.
(6) Kaylin: (pooch? :D)
(1) GM: The countess grabs Kibbin's head and rubs it.
(5) Derrel: (Dog)
(2) Kibin: (lovable old me)
(1) GM: Countess: Ah, such a cute little thing... wherever did you get it?
(6) Kaylin: (this would make such an awesome movie.)
(4) Elorin: Why don't you ask him?
(2) Kibin: I'm not their property, I'm assisting them...
** (4) Elorin points at Kibin **
(1) GM: Merchant: Yes; he's as intelligent as most the men I've met.
(6) Kaylin: Be polite, Elorin.
(6) Kaylin: (even if she is human)
(5) Derrel: (OOC? Already did. She's evil)
(1) GM: Countess: Ooh... a talking pooch! Cuter puppy! I must have one.
(1) GM: Merchant: I'm afraid I've hired him.
(9) Elorin (enter): 12:36
(1) GM: The countess stares deeply into the merchant's eyes
(1) GM: Countess: That can be fixed....
(1) GM: Role 9 = player
(1) GM: kraft
(5) Derrel (exit): 12:37
(10) Derrel (enter): 12:37
(1) GM: Role 10 = player
(2) Kibin: (i suspect something...)
(10) Derrel: (Game disconnected)
(2) Kibin: (i know exactly what's going on now :P)
(1) GM: Last line?
(1) GM: (do you?)
(4) Elorin (exit): 12:37
(1) GM: Last line seen?
(10) Derrel: (6) Kaylin: (even if she is human)

(1) GM: Countess: Ooh... a talking pooch! Cuter puppy! I must have one.
(1) GM: Merchant: I'm afraid I've hired him.
(9) Elorin: (He's as intelligent as most men...)
(1) GM: The countess stares deeply into the merchant's eyes
(1) GM: Countess: That can be fixed....
(9) Elorin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+8] -> [17,8] = (25)
(1) GM: [1d20+37] -> [11,37] = (48)
(2) Kibin (whispering): i bet you this is either charm, or suggestion...
(2) Kibin (whispering): i remember the succubus incident :P
whispering to Elorin, neither charm nor suggestion. Intimidate.
(9) Elorin: (that's her bluff check? :O)
(9) Elorin: (wow)
(6) Kaylin: (holy cow)
(10) Derrel: (Rather high bluff check)
(10) Derrel: (Better look out)
(1) GM: Merchant: Ummm... yes... Kibin, you're fired.
(1) GM: Merchant: Right now. Go away.
(6) Kaylin: (wow.)
(2) Kibin: :blinks. "Okay..."
** (2) Kibin blinks. "Okay..." **
(1) GM: Countess: Little puppy... would you care to work for me?
(6) Kaylin: (awww)
(2) Kibin: Sure, why not.
(1) GM: Countess: Great!
(1) GM: She pulls out a leash and collar, and tries to put them around kibin's neck.
(1) GM: (avoiding?)
** (2) Kibin lets her. **
(2) Kibin: (and what does the west of the people think? :P)
(1) GM: She then drags him brutally back to her throne....
(6) Kaylin: (I think it's adorable)
(6) Kaylin: (lol)
(2) Kibin: (rest)
(6) Kaylin: (this looks interesting)
(1) GM: Take [1d6] -> [4] = (4) bruising around your neck as she yanks on the leash.
(10) Derrel: (The plot train rolleth us over)
(2) Kibin: (can't i get a reflex save? x,x)
(1) GM: (Yeah, sure; DC 30)
(2) Kibin: (i am, after all, faster than her :P)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [11,19] = (30)
(6) Kaylin: (lol)
(2) Kibin: (phew)
(1) GM: But you just barely manage to predict her moves in time....
(1) GM: And then everyone spends the rest of the day being bored?
(10) Derrel: (...Sure)
(6) Kaylin: (how about a few Gather Information checks?)
(9) Elorin: (Gather info at court about the countess?)
(2) Kibin: (bah.)
(10) Derrel: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+4] -> [10,4] = (14)
(1) GM: (Good circumstance bonus...)
(6) Kaylin: (while Kibin is being a lapdog)
(9) Elorin: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+3] -> [8,3] = (11)
(2) Kibin: (why do paladins have to have a low intelligence? x.x)
(6) Kaylin: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+8] -> [11,8] = (19)
(6) Kaylin: (because you don't need int to swing a sword)
(1) GM: (it's one of their very few potential dump stats)
(2) Kibin: (am i the only person who has a clue?)
(9) Elorin: (you do for some feats, like Combat Expertise)
(10) Derrel: (1 million calculations to move your little finger, according to something i read)
whispering to Derrel, Nobody seems to know where she's from....
whispering to Elorin, Nobody's talking to you.
(6) Kaylin: (pokes Derrel with her little finger)
(6) Kaylin: (take 1d0 :D)
whispering to Kaylin, Nobody seems to know where she's from, and you find the names of six different Palace servants that dissapeared the day they "served" the countess.
(10) Derrel: [1d0] -> [1] = (1)
(9) Elorin: [0d1] -> None
(6) Kaylin: (oops, 0d0, sorry)
(1) GM: Let's see... did I miss anyone who rolled?
(6) Kaylin: (to merchant) are we allowed to wander around more?
(9) Elorin: (wouldn't Kibin get an automatic check just from being right there with her?)
(2) Kibin (whispering): am i the only person who ahas a clue? a itty bitty clue?
(6) Kaylin: I'd like to talk to some of my companions.
whispering to Kibin, she seems quite brutal, and comepletely uncaring about others. Those she plays nice with have something she can't force from them.
whispering to Kibin, unfortunately, you aren't in that category at the moment....
(2) Kibin (whispering): hmmm?
(1) GM: Merchant: Feel free to wander about; you are mostly here for when I come in - that's when everyone watches.
(2) Kibin (whispering): i have a reason for following her wishes :P
(6) Kaylin: I understand. Come, you muscular men...
whispering to Kibin, you find she's cruel even to those who obey....
(6) Kaylin: (by the way, where's Jason lurking through all of this? Wagon?)
(1) GM: (Anyone have See Invisible up?)
(1) GM: (Otherwise, you don't know - other than the little clue earlier that you may have missed)
(1) GM: (anyone trying anything else - say, getting together and not waiting until after the session to talk?)
(6) Kaylin: (I think I did miss it)
(2) Kibin (whispering): i still have a reason. better than the alternative
(10) Derrel: (I know I did)
(1) GM: (Pity)
** (10) Derrel wonders if either of the spellcasters have some way of keeping tabs on Kibin. **
(9) Elorin: (aloud?)
(10) Derrel: (Aloud enough for you two to hear)
(2) Kibin: (2 more hours...)
(9) Elorin: I do
(1) GM: Well, after a while, everyone starts to leave....
(10) Derrel: "Perhaps it would be prudent to use it, then?"
(1) GM: Including the merchant, who leaves you with an address to meet him the next morining for tomorrow's session, and bids you good day.
(1) GM: After everyone of importance leaves, the Countess draggs her new pooch away to her rooms....
(1) GM: Kibin, another reflex save?
(2) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [7,19] = (26)
(1) GM: Sorry; same DC: [1d6] -> [2] = (2)
(2) Kibin: (bah. wouldn't it be less now that i expect it)
(6) Kaylin: we should use it now, methinks.
(9) Elorin: (how, exactly, does Greater Scrying work? It doesn't have the focus requirement the Scrying does. Do I just see it in my head, does it show an image in midair, or can I choose and maybe switch between?)
** (2) Kibin yelps a bit as he's dragged off unexpectedly. **
(1) GM: (Fill in flavor; use any old reflective surface, dream it, whatever)
whispering to Kibin, once you get to her chambers, you find she already has a cage prepared... and she promptly attempts to pick you up. Resist?
(9) Elorin: (OK then, I'll go with mental image that can be projected when I want it to)
(9) Elorin: Elorin casts Greater Scrying ( level 7, "As scrying, but faster and longer." )
(9) Elorin: (lasts 14 hours :D )
(1) GM: Once Kibin gets to her chambers, you find she already has a cage prepared... and she promptly attempts to pick Kibin up.
(2) Kibin (whispering): why not?
(1) GM: (Wait - who you scrying?)
(9) Elorin: (Kibin)
(9) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 7 Spell ( level 7, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) GM: Kibin, will save? Note that, in character, you don't know who is casting on you.
(1) GM: (And what's the DC?)
(2) Kibin (whispering): yes, will save
(2) Kibin: [1d20+9] -> [18,9] = (27)
(1) GM: Kibin - grapple check?
(9) Elorin: (DC 25 base, I'd say I should get the "familiar" bonus of +5, and if I get something that belongs to him out of the wagon that's another +4)
(2) Kibin: (elorin is going to hate me for this, i know it)
(2) Kibin: (i let her put me in the cage, i'm not resisting her)
(1) GM: (yes, you should get those bonuses - failure - you see everything that happens.)
(1) GM: The countess picks you up, then throws you to the back of the cage, and locks the door.
(1) GM: [3d6] -> [2,6,6] = (14), reflex DC 25 half.
(2) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [3,19] = (22)
(2) Kibin: (DANG IT!)
(6) Kaylin: (wow, she's a bitch.)
(1) GM: (She's not a DOG!)
(2) Kibin: (i could have gotten no damage :P)
(6) Kaylin: (oops, yeah.)
(2) Kibin: (hehe)
(6) Kaylin: (she's a stroppy cow :P better?)
(2) Kibin: (that's why we have a caster, and why dogs only have one hit die)
(1) GM: She then drops a blanket over the cage, obscuring Kibin's sight.
(1) GM: [1d20+37] -> [11,37] = (48)
(1) GM: Also, she spies the magical sensor...
(1) GM: And throws a dagger at it.... and it goes dark.
(10) Derrel: (When it's under the blanket?)
(1) GM: (it stays a few feet away from the subject, in order to see the subject, and it's a small cage)
(1) GM: The next morning? Or conversing under cover of the Wagon?
(9) Elorin: Well, this doesn't look good for Kibin
(2) Kibin: (hey, why can't i escape?)
whispering to Kibin, at night, you hear some servants come in... some screams... some chomping....
whispering to Kibin, then silence.
(2) Kibin (whispering): oookay
(9) Elorin: (hmm, did she let you keep your gear?)
(1) GM: (Yep)
(2) Kibin: (hehe. chicks dig the cape)
(1) GM: (Batman reference?)
(6) Kaylin (exit): 13:06
(2) Kibin: (hmmm?)
(1) GM: Vonderbar. Who all's still here?
(2) Kibin: (actually, i just made it up)
(2) Kibin: (i'm SUPERDOG!)
(1) GM: Kibin, obviously.
(10) Derrel: (
(1) GM: ELorin?
(10) Derrel: (Might want to wait untill she's gone)
(9) Elorin: (here)
(2) Kibin: (suuuuperdog, dun dundundun dun)
** (2) Kibin takes this time to heal. **
(1) GM: Resting up... 15 HP.
(1) GM: Well.... posted on the forums....
(2) Kibin: (hmmm)
(1) GM: (And it'd be really, really useful to have the artillery for when things go boom....)
(10) Derrel: (BRB)
(1) GM: Well, as long as we're paused anyway... me too.
(11) Kaylin (enter): 13:13
(11) Kaylin: (aargh, computer died on me. Seems the winpython thing makes it unhappy_
(11) Kaylin: (last seen line: (10) Derrel: (when it's under the blanket?)
(2) Kibin: (chicks dig the cape :)
(1) GM: (2) Kibin: (hehe. chicks dig the cape)

(1) GM: [Bad dice format] - [Sat Oct 08 13:13:32 2005] : (11) Kaylin (enter): 13:13
(1) GM: There; an exhastive listing.
(1) GM: Didn't miss much.
(11) Kaylin: (thanks)
(1) GM: Anything else this night? Kibin's under cover, unless he uses that Unseen Servant to get out or look around; everyone else can be found back at the wagon.
(2) Kibin: (i use it then, i guess
(2) Kibin (whispering): i act like i'm 'sleeping'
(11) Kaylin: We should head back to te wagon.. I hope Kibin will be all right.
(2) Kibin (whispering): and slip out through the back on the cage
whispering to Kibin, You get out quite easily; it wasn't intended as a trap for something with hands available. The Countess is sleeping quitely in her bed.
(1) GM: [1d20+37-10] -> [8,37,-10] = (35)
(1) GM: Move sliently?
(10) Derrel: (Back)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+20] -> [10,20] = (30)
(2) Kibin: (dang.)
(1) GM: She wakes as you are leaving....
(1) GM: Countess: Naughty puppy!
(1) GM: She reaches over and grabs at you...
(11) Kaylin: (hahaha)
(2) Kibin (whispering): i pop back when she wakes up :P
(1) GM: Countess: Now stay there!
(1) GM: She then grabs an actual lock from a drawer and locks the cage.
(1) GM: It looks like a very expensive lock.
(2) Kibin: (meh.)
(1) GM: She then promptly goes back to sleep.
(9) Elorin: (to Kaylin) Do you have any spells that might let us communicate with Kibin?
** (2) Kibin just realized something... **
(10) Derrel: (??)
(11) Kaylin: (would Message work?)
(1) GM: Need line of effect.
(11) Kaylin: (ah, right)
(2) Kibin: (or scrying, me thinks)
(1) GM: (You are reffing to the 0th level cantrip, right?)
(1) GM: There are a few spells that will sometimes function through the sensor....
(11) Kaylin: (yes)
(1) GM: Including Message.
(9) Elorin: (message automatically works through Greater Scrying)
(1) GM: (True. Go for it.)
(9) Elorin: (and I'd assume the countess would be much less likely to notice the sensor in her sleep)
(2) Kibin: (it also automatically works through scrying)
(1) GM: (no Spot checks when eyes are closed. Those whispers, on the other hand....)
(9) Elorin: (5% chance per caster level with normal scrying)
(11) Kaylin: (didn't prepare message, but I could prepare it with an empty level 1 slot, right?)
(1) GM: (yep)
(2) Kibin: (the whipser would have to go through, what? a blanket, her pillow...)
(2) Kibin: (her -10...)
** (11) Kaylin gets out her spellbook and prepares the spell **
(1) GM: (and her 20 feet of distance. Net -20, or so, for the flat DC of 15 for people whispering)
(2) Kibin: (oh. detect evil works as well.)
(1) GM: Conversing, or not?
(2) Kibin: ( :) )
(10) Derrel: (Which means she automatically hears)
(1) GM: (In her sleep, yes.)
(2) Kibin (whispering): wait. did you say i heard CHOMPS? as in, a bite?
whispering to Kibin, yep.
whispering to Kibin, some crunchy noises, too
whispering to Kibin, the room was back in perfect order for the escape attempt, though.
(2) Kibin (whispering): ah.. from inside this room?
whispering to Kibin, yep.
(1) GM: It's a very big room.
(1) GM: Palace guest room for the soon-to-be queen, after all.
(2) Kibin: (will you people do something already? cages get boring after a while)
(1) GM: Anything else this night?
(11) Kaylin: (no)
(9) Elorin: (no)
(11) Kaylin: (well, besides the possibility of sending a message)
(1) GM: The next morning....
(1) GM: The merchant waits at the address he specified.
** (10) Derrel goes there **
(11) Kaylin: So what did you guys find out from your Gather Information checks?
(2) Kibin: (hour and 30 minutes... I WANT TO DO GREAT WARPING! :P)
(11) Kaylin: (oops, did it again)
(2) Kibin: (lol)
(11) Kaylin: (yes, yes, kibin.. patience)
(1) GM: (when asking around)
(2) Kibin: (hehe. do it while i'm still in this cage, and the countess would get a surprise)
(1) GM: Jason fades into view....
(9) Elorin: (except doesn't it take 48 hours?)
(1) GM: Jason: Followed her up to her room. You'd be amazed at what she does at night.
(2) Kibin: (maybe.)
(9) Elorin: Oh?
(11) Kaylin: Oh? what does she do?
(2) Kibin: (aw. can't jason tell me this stuff by going into my body? :P)
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, she takes off her things - everything - calls for a servant, removes a signet ring, turns into a dragon, and eats the servant. Then he puts the ring back on, she dresses, and cleans everything up before going back to bed.
(11) Kaylin: O.O
(11) Kaylin: You seem to take it very calmly...
(1) GM: Jason: I'm already dead. What can she do? Besides, I couldn't do much against a blue dragon that Huge.
(9) Elorin: Wow
(11) Kaylin: Wow.
(2) Kibin (whispering): i guess polymorph disguises scent too? :P
(2) Kibin: (can you stop wowing and come save me already?)
(11) Kaylin: Maybe we should get Kibin out of there...
(2) Kibin: (comeon, bump uglies :P)
whispering to Kibin, that one does, yes. Not quite your traditional polymorph, however...
(11) Kaylin: (hey, what's she like naked?)
(1) GM: (Jason's too much of a gentleman to say.)
(2) Kibin: (scaly)
(11) Kaylin: (hmmph)
(1) GM: Jason: Yes, probably a good idea to go get him as soon as possible.
(9) Elorin: I wonder why no one's noticed the disappearing servants
(11) Kaylin: I heard something about it while asking around yesterday
(9) Elorin: If she eats one every night...
(2) Kibin: (HELP ME ALREADY! :P)
(11) Kaylin: but nobody seems overly concerned...
(1) GM: Jason: She seems very Charming when she wants to be. Perhaps she's a diplomat.
(11) Kaylin: (with "assets" that big, she probably is.)
** (2) Kibin yawns over at the castle... **
(1) GM: Jason: So, how do we want to run the raid?
(9) Elorin: Hmm, was the ring the cause of her polymorphing?
(1) GM: Jason: She did turn into the dragon after taking it off, and he did turn back into the countess after putting it on a claw.
(9) Elorin: We could try taking it off to reveal her true nature, then kill her
(11) Kaylin: A dragon?
(10) Derrel: (I presume we talk about this before we meet the merchant?)
(1) GM: Jason: Yes, a huge blue dragon.
(1) GM: (yep)
(11) Kaylin: (hopefuly)
(10) Derrel: "Telekinises to remove the ring?"
(11) Kaylin: I suppose if we idid it in a large area, we'd have the support of the castle paladins
(11) Kaylin: but then she'd probably eat the King.
(1) GM: Jason: I'm not so sure.... why would a dragon want to marry a king?
(10) Derrel: "There is risk in everything."
(9) Elorin: Yeah, we'd want to try to get bystanders out of the way
(2) Kibin: (wealth? :P)
(11) Kaylin: shinies
(1) GM: Jason: If he's after the crown, he might be unwilling to just rip the place apart.
(11) Kaylin: (she)
(1) GM: (no, Jason is using his pronouns accurately)
(11) Kaylin: (oh)
(1) GM: (he's referring to the dragon at the moment....)
(2) Kibin: (O.O)
(9) Elorin: (male dragon, polymorphed into female human)
(2) Kibin: (okay. i want to stay away from that ring.)
(9) Elorin: (it only lasts as long as you have it on...)
(11) Kaylin: (it'd be funny if we could fuse it on her :D)
(2) Kibin: (will you people come after me already)
(2) Kibin: (technically, she still has her breath weapon in human form)
(1) GM: Jason: So, how do we want to run this? We do probably need to get Kibin out of there.
(9) Elorin: When and where do we want to try to ambush her?
(2) Kibin: (comeon... need to do great warping in the next hour and 20 minutes)
(1) GM: Jason: Ohh... if it's anything like the polymorph I'm familiar with, her blood will resume it's normal color once it's removed from her. A quick stab in public and her secret is out.
(11) Kaylin: Yes, but a quick stab in public and we're in trouble...
(1) GM: Jason: What with her being a blue blood and all.
(11) Kaylin: oh wait, you could telekinetically stab her with one of her daggers
(2) Kibin: (*cough*unless jason does it*cough*
(1) GM: Jason: I suppose I might be able to do so... but attended objects are much harder to move.
(1) GM: Jason: Usually as hard as the person holding them.
(1) GM: (e.g., attended objects get to use the attender's saves)
(2) Kibin: (just shove her into view of one of the guards, that probally detect evil 24/7)
(2) Kibin: (urg, need to get on with this)
(2) Kibin: (the suspense is killing me :P)
(1) GM: Jason: And I'd have to walk in.
(1) GM: Jason: I suppose I could possess one of you for the operation....
(10) Derrel: "Well, weren't you there last time?"
(2) Kibin: (me! me!)
(1) GM: Jason: Yes, but most people don't take too kindly to a ghost appearing seemingly out of nowhere.
(11) Kaylin: it'd distract attention from her blood.
(1) GM: Jason: That too.
(10) Derrel: (Elorins' turn)
(1) GM: Jason: So, I posses someone... prefferably someone who can take a little punishment, just in case ... we walk in, and see about putting her in front of the guards? Or wound her first?
(11) Kaylin: If we wound her first, there may be some reason for the guards to approach...
(11) Kaylin: and you could try to shove them close enough
(11) Kaylin: (brb, I'm starving... need lunch)
(1) GM: Jason: Unless I throw one of the guard's weapons... I don't need to gesture to do that....
(1) GM: Jason: Feel sorry for whatever guard I pick, though....
(1) GM: Jason: Well? Do we have a plan?
** (2) Kibin is snoozing in his cage right now. **
(10) Derrel: "I guess so."
whispering to Kibin, you havn't been fed, by the way... although I doubt that at this juncture you want to remind the "countess" about hunger....
(2) Kibin (whispering): bah. wolves can go months without food, can't they?
whispering to Kibin, weeks at least, yes; using the starvation rules in the SRD it would take quite a while for you to starve to death.
(9) Elorin: We'll be doing this in the middle of court?
(2) Kibin (whispering): hehe. yay for wolves
(1) GM: Jason: Need to have the beast's true nature revealed.

(1) GM: [1d100] -> [68] = (68), [1d100] -> [93] = (93)
(20) Derrel: (The first was a critical, so it hits no matter what)
(19) Kibin: (not true)'
(20) Derrel: (Except for that)
(1) GM: First hits, 23 base damage; roll your crit confim
(20) Derrel: (Critical, and confirm)
(20) Derrel: (That's what the second roll is)
(1) GM: Well, 48 damage dealt, then.

(19) Kibin: (48 damage isn't a lot?!)
(11) Kaylin: (to a dragon? probably not)
(19) Kibin: (375 HP...)

(11) Kaylin: (holy craaaap)

(11) Kaylin: (yeahh...)
(1) GM: Kibin?
** (19) Kibin wonders something... He withdraws from combat, going next to Kaylin. He then looks up to the ceiling discretly, to signal to Kaylin(and Derrel) to destroy the ceiling, and bring it down on the dragon. **
(11) Kaylin: (I vote we run away and let the guards die before we go back and start firing... I have a prismatic spray ready...)
(19) Kibin: [1d20+15] -> [13,15] = (28)
(19) Kibin: (that's to convey the message across)
(20) Derrel: (Derrel doesn't leave innocents behind)
(19) Kibin: (which succeeded...)
(11) Kaylin: (oh yeah. good point...)
(18) Elorin: (um, abandoning the guards when you're not clearly losing would be an evil act, I think)
(11) Kaylin: (allright, let's fry this bitch.)
(11) Kaylin: (bastard, sorry.)
(19) Kibin: (okay... i'm withdrawing... because i'm useless?)
(1) GM: Her AC dropped when she removed the ring...
(19) Kibin: (can't even make the hit roll...)
(20) Derrel: (Could help with flanking bonus, which would give sneak attacks)
(19) Kibin: (bah.)
(1) GM: She doesn't want to damage his hoard....
(19) Kibin: (she has displacement.... no sneak attacks...)
(20) Derrel: (Could roll a critical)
(19) Kibin: (15 minutes.)
(19) Kibin: (i REALLY don't want to be NPCed...)
(1) GM: Your turn.
(19) Kibin: (my turn? i already went)

(19) Kibin: (i withdrew, going next to Kaylin, and signaling to try and bring the ceiling down on him/her)
(18) Elorin: Elorin casts Divine Power ( level 4, "You gain attack bonus, +6 to Str, and 1 hp/level" )
(18) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) GM: Kaylin?
(19) Kibin: (kaylin. finger of death.)
(19) Kibin: (an enemy has to roll 1 on their save some time or another)
(19) Kibin: (and it's fortitude only. her fortitude sucks because she's polymorphed)
(18) Elorin: (too much luck required. Get the buffs done first)
(11) Kaylin: (I don't have FoD ready.)
(1) GM: (That assumes a standard polymorph....)
(19) Kibin: (dang it, what kind of caster are you :P)
(19) Kibin: (try another instakill)

(21) Kibin (enter): 14:51
(21) Kibin: (hiccuped after another instakill)

(11) Kaylin: (who are they shooting at?)
(1) GM: Jason.

(1) GM: Countess again....
(21) Kibin: (bah.)
(22) Elorin: (didn't they detect the Countess as evil?)

(11) Kaylin: (+48 is probably a hit, yes.)
(21) Kibin: (duh. it's almost impossible NOT to hit.)
(23) Derrel: (Yep)
(21) Kibin: (well.. we could let her polymorph back, ripping up all of her shineys. OR, we could just leave her the way she is now)

(1) GM: AC 37 - Sorry Derrel, you bounce off the Dragon's hide.
(1) GM: And take [1d6] -> [3] = (3) yourself.
(22) Elorin: (hmm, I was at least within 30 ft, and Derrel was pushed aside, it's possible I might have been close enough to get the +4 bonus from Derrel)
(22) Elorin: (any paladin guards within 10 ft would also have done it)
(22) Elorin: (of at least 3rd level)
(1) GM: (25, to piece everything together; although you may be permitted to try again once you aren't so frightened)
(1) GM: Kibin, Elorin, and Kaylin are running away....
(11) Kaylin: (ahh.)
(1) GM: The guards are made of sturner stuff, however.....
(1) GM: [1d20+5] -> [1,5] = (6)[1d20+5] -> [8,5] = (13)[1d20+5] -> [8,5] = (13)[1d20+5] -> [6,5] = (11)[1d20+5] -> [14,5] = (19)[1d20+5] -> [3,5] = (8)[1d20+5] -> [14,5] = (19)[1d20+5] -> [17,5] = (22)[1d20+5] -> [5,5] = (10)[1d20+5] -> [20,5] = (25)
(11) Kaylin: (actually, I'm not running away.)
(11) Kaylin: (I'm casting Overland Flight 'cause it's faster)
(1) GM: [1d20+5] -> [13,5] = (18)
(1) GM: One hit, but no crit; not that it does any good, what with the DR.
(1) GM: The Dragon finally starts to lay it down....
(1) GM: Bite:[1d20+39] -> [19,39] = (58) for [2d8+6] -> [2,2,6] = (10) Claw: [1d20+34] -> [12,34] = (46) for [2d6+3] -> [4,1,3] = (8) Claw: [1d20+34] -> [16,34] = (50) for [2d6+3] -> [2,2,3] = (7) Wing: [1d20+34] -> [5,34] = (39) for [1d8+3] -> [8,3] = (11) Wing: [1d20+34] -> [4,34] = (38) for [1d8+3] -> [4,3] = (7) Tail Slap: [1d20+34] -> [7,34] = (41) for [2d6+3] -> [1,5,3] = (9)
(11) Kaylin: (holy crap)
(1) GM: Targetting the biggest threat in the room - Derrel.
(23) Derrel: (BRB)
(1) GM: Damage: [10+8+7+11+7+9] -> 52
(1) GM: Dealt to Derrel.
(1) GM: Jason's turn....
(1) GM: And he tries for a Fireball, again.
(1) GM: Fireball, level 3: 1d6 damage per level, 20-ft. radius. Roll: [8d6] -> [2,6,1,5,6,6,2,1] = (29), reflex half.
(1) GM: [1d20+11] -> [16,11] = (27)
(1) GM: Beats SR...
(1) GM: [1d20+17] -> [8,17] = (25)
(1) GM: Dragon takes half, 14 damage....
(1) GM: ... and drops dead, exactly.
(11) Kaylin: (YAY!0
** (23) Derrel collapses. **
(11) Kaylin: (if I wasn't scared I'd be dancing)
(23) Derrel: (Releif and a lot of wounds)
(23) Derrel: (You're probably in the next kingdom, by now)
(22) Elorin: (no, that would be me)
(22) Elorin: Elorin casts Wind Walk ( level 6, "You and your allies turn vaporous and travel fast" )
(22) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(22) Elorin: (600 ft per round until I stop)
(1) GM: Oh, they come to their senses after about 10-15 rounds....
(1) GM: Care to return?
(11) Kaylin: yes
** (22) Elorin goes speeding back as fast as he fled **
(1) GM: Jason: Well, that was fun.
** (11) Kaylin makes unladylike noises **
(22) Elorin: Interesting view of the countryside about a mile out
(11) Kaylin: Yeah, there were some fascinating insect specimens.
(1) GM: You notice King Trent somehow managed not to panic and run through all of that, but kept silent on his throne and waited to see what came about.
(11) Kaylin: (on the throne?)
(11) Kaylin: (didn't we hit that with a bunch of spellls?)
(23) Derrel: (And somehow didn't get hit by all the magic flying around?)
(22) Elorin: (and the Huge dragon expanding out of his fiance?)
(1) GM: King Tanet grins at you:
(11) Kaylin: (he's leering at me)
(23) Derrel: (The king runs on Improbability Drive!)
(11) Kaylin: (ah, that makes sense.)
(22) Elorin: (Trent or Tanet?)
(1) GM: King: A long time ago, one of my ancestors found a wizard to install an anti-magic field and a Wall of Force into this chiar. Why do you think we still haven't upgraded? I'm fine.
(11) Kaylin: (Tanet)
(1) GM: (Tanet - got confused with Xanth for a moment)
** (22) Elorin chuckles **
(1) GM: King: It's really, really hard to get at me when I panic.
(11) Kaylin: I probably look a right mess, don't I...
(23) Derrel: "Yeah...Next time, could you do a background check?"
(1) GM: King: Funny thing... nobody could find a background... and she was so pretty.... and so persuaisive....
(1) GM: King: ... And none of the guards said anything about her....
(22) Elorin: And maybe have the girl in question sit on YOUR throne for a moment, so any magical disguises disappear?
(11) Kaylin: (bah, I'm prettier. not so scaly...)
** (23) Derrel looks at the guards **
(1) GM: King: It's activated, not continuous; I have to be able to speak to my subjects.
** (23) Derrel does detect evil on the guards. **
(22) Elorin: oh
whispering to Derrel, Guards are good.
** (23) Derrel asks the guards if they tried to detect evil on it. **
(1) GM: One of the guards asks around: Did she ever come by your station?
(1) GM: He gets a chorous of "no" responses; not a single "yes"
(1) GM: King: That would expain it, then.
(23) Derrel: "Perhaps keep a list of stuff like that?"
(1) GM: King: A very good idea; Guards - implement it at once!
(1) GM: Guards, in unision: Aye Aye, my Liege!
(23) Derrel: (Anyway, this looks like a good place to stop. Supper)
(1) GM: King: I don't want to be reminded of her. Take her things, including her carriage, horses, and any extra clothing as your reward.

(23) Derrel: (Anyway - Bye)
(11) Kaylin: I happen to have Analyse Dweomer prepared.
(23) Derrel: Disconnecting from server...
(23) Derrel (exit): 15:57
(1) GM: King: I could tell who you were aiming for.
(11) Kaylin: Why don't we ID this stuff before we stop for today?
(1) GM: King: Now take your things and go.
(11) Kaylin: *curtsies* Thank you, your majesty. We shall depart at once.
(1) GM: The guards gather everything up, stuff it in a very nice carriage, and hand Elorin the reigns.
** (22) Elorin bows and start stuffing things into his haversack **
(1) GM: So... Detect Magic?
(22) Elorin: Elorin casts Detect Magic ( level 0, "Detects spells and magic items within 60 ft." )

(1) GM: (They don't register, no.)
** (22) Elorin wonders if some things have disguised magical auras **
(11) Kaylin: Given that the amulet and rings didn't show... I'd say so.
(1) GM: Jason: Well, there's a lot here. What all to try to identify?
(22) Elorin: Double checking everything for hidden auras would take two castings of Analyze Dweomer
(1) GM: 14 items, all told
(11) Kaylin: 14 items.. that's one casting.
(1) GM: Sorry; more than that; miscounted;
(1) GM: 18 items, 19 coins.
(11) Kaylin: well, we don't need to identify the component pouches... the outfit was destroyed...
(22) Elorin: and some of the coints are magical
(11) Kaylin: and I know what the stones do.
(1) GM: Jason: You could maybe even use one to speed things up...
(11) Kaylin: Good point.
** (11) Kaylin uses the orange prism **
(22) Elorin: Oh right, the extra spell power one
(1) GM: (+1 caster level)
(11) Kaylin: well, what shall we identify now?
(11) Kaylin: (and if we're not doing anything we could fast forward to tomorrow morning, where I identify the remaining loot)
(1) GM: Jason: Ignoring the coins for the moment, as well as the destroyed outfit and the two spell component pouches, we have 15 things to identify.
(11) Kaylin: excellent.
(11) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Analyze Dweomer ( level 6, "Reveals magical aspects of subject." )
(1) GM: Oh, also - make 15 will saves.
(1) GM: DC 15
(11) Kaylin: Will save: [1d20+17] -> [20,17] = (37)
(11) Kaylin: (pah)

(11) Kaylin: (yeah, I should be grateful it was only 1)
(1) GM: You are pretty sure that staff isn't actually magical at all.
(11) Kaylin: (still, better check it tomorrow.)
(1) GM: (otherwise, info in the node I sent....)
(11) Kaylin: (holy crap)
(11) Kaylin: (hey, those bracers are useless... why don't you let me have them... and the ring.. and the amulet..)
(1) GM: (Enjoying the ring description?)
** (22) Elorin is a little suspicious **
(11) Kaylin: (very much)
(1) GM: (CR 19 dragon, wearing it's entire horde... plus an item that wasn't counted against it)
(1) GM: (And now you have a better idea where the AC came from....)
(11) Kaylin: (well, can we fast forward to tomorrow so I can identify the rest?)
(1) GM: (Although I don't remember any religious items in there.....)
(1) GM: (Sure.... fast forward a little....)
(22) Elorin: (I'll cast an area dispel several times before resting to try to get rid of the false auras, too)
(11) Kaylin: (rest... zzz... wake up... prepare 2 Dweomers...)
(1) GM: Caster level checks? Need quite a few....
(22) Elorin: I get one for each item from a single casting

(1) GM: Let's see... It's DC 11 + Caster level, right?
(22) Elorin: yes
(1) GM: So DC 23....
(1) GM: 14 effects dispelled....
(1) GM: Oh, hey - all disguising auras gone.
(1) GM: Detect Magic again?
(22) Elorin: Elorin casts Detect Magic ( level 0, "Detects spells and magic items within 60 ft." )
(22) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 0 Spell ( level 0, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) GM: Jason: Definately....
(1) GM: Detect Magic, level 0: Detects spells and magic items within 60 ft.
(1) GM: Got node?
(22) Elorin: yes
(1) GM: (I sent the one titled "after five days" right?)
(22) Elorin: Hmm, it seems pretty much everything had a false aura the opposite of the real one
(22) Elorin: (yes)
** (11) Kaylin rolls up her sleeves and looks tough... **
(11) Kaylin: let's get something identified then.
(1) GM: (How many castings; also, skipping anything?)
(11) Kaylin: (no skipping. 2 castings, right?)
(11) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Analyze Dweomer ( level 6, "Reveals magical aspects of subject." )
(11) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Analyze Dweomer ( level 6, "Reveals magical aspects of subject." )
(22) Elorin: ring, arm guards, rope, orange prism, gloves, amulet, other ring, quarterstaff, and dusty rose are the only magic items
(22) Elorin: few enough for one casting
(1) GM: (2 castings make 30 items, with stone; 18 items + 19 coins = 37 to ID)
(11) Kaylin: bah.
(1) GM: (Mind you, if you Detect Magic First you can filter quite easily now...)
(22) Elorin: (which I did, and told the results)
(1) GM: Got node?
(11) Kaylin: (yes)
(11) Kaylin: (same node as last time)
whispering to Kaylin, Planning on being honest about the identify? If so, I can just post it on the boards....
(22) Elorin: So, care to explain what we have here?
(11) Kaylin (whispering): yeah, I was just kidding with the earlier OOC conversation
(1) GM: Great; In that case, closing server, and I will be posting everything on the boards....
** (11) Kaylin explains **
(22) Elorin: (don't have node yet)
Server Administrator-> Closing server....
(1) GM: I can post that, too, with the log. You know how to import the XML?
(22) Elorin: yes
(11) Kaylin: yay, nodes are easier
(1) GM: Good then.
Server Administrator-> Closing server....
Game disconnected!
(1) GM: The ring of the Countess van Krankzinnigheid
(1) GM: This ring was crafted by a dragon who wanted to run his own country. There was a problem, however; he couldn't simply replace the king (too many people around who knew him very, very well), he couldn't make his Polymorph permanent, and he couldn't quite be sure that a Polymorph he cast would result in exactly the same form every single time. However, the country he wanted had a King who was looking for a wife....
(1) GM: So he crafted this ring. While worn, it reshapes the wearer into a particular human countenence; a very beautiful woman, whom the dragon built a false identity around - that of the Countess van Krankzinnigheid. The plan was insanity: to marry the king, bear him an heir, then kill the king and rule as regent... while carefully and continuously altering the mind of the heir so that, when he was finally grown, the new king would be little more than a puppet for his dear mother.
(1) GM: As a side effects of forcing the physical form, the ring halts the aging process while it is worn, as well as granting double the normal healing rates for hit points and ability damage.
