Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for
a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.
I've lost track of exactly when we are supposed to start. Oh well. Turned the server on a little bit before noon.

(1) Jack Simth: [Bad dice format] - [1--d20]
(1) Jack Simth: [100d20] -> [14,13,8,13,13,15,12,1,9,17,5,15,6,4,1,11,10,6,11,5,10,2,2,7,6,14,19,5,14,10,15,12,4,17,13,16,18,13,1,2,20,12,3,5,1,7,12,7,19,16,4,18,2,20,2,8,16,18,4,3,3,11,20,14,5,3,3,6,10,9,13,10,5,18,5,6,6,1,16,18,12,8,15,8,18,15,4,13,10,15,18,7,5,9,3,8,5,9,20,8] = (978)
(2) Kibin (enter): 09:49
(2) Kibin: hello
(3) Derrel (enter): 10:04
(3) Derrel: Braaaiiins...
(2) Kibin: hehe.
(4) Elorin (enter): 10:09
(2) Kibin: hey
(5) Kaylin (enter): 10:10
(5) Kaylin: Mornin'
(2) Kibin: yay
(4) Elorin: Ultimate Frisbee practice done or cancelled?
(5) Kaylin: We were just practicing forehands, and mine are pretty decent, so they said we could go
(4) Elorin: ah
(4) Elorin: hmm, "May be a bit late du"
(4) Elorin: due to what, I wonder
(3) Derrel: Zombie attack?
(5) Kaylin: probably
(3) Derrel: Mutant killer bunnies?
(5) Kaylin: Polymorphed bunnies that refuse to die
(4) Elorin: that he doesn't have the requisite Holy weapon to kill?
(3) Derrel: Attack of the Undead Mutant Killer Bunnies!
(2) Kibin: i had a BRILLIANT idea to kill the bunny.
(2) Kibin: drop it off in the ocean.
(2) Kibin: i go boom :(
(4) Elorin: and have it drown?
(2) Kibin: yup.
(5) Kaylin: That's harsh.
(5) Kaylin: We should have saved the pelt
(2) Kibin: and tearing it limb from limb isn't?
(5) Kaylin: Rabbitskin hats :)
(4) Elorin: You know, there's been quite a bit of discussion on at least one forum about trying to kill the Tarrasque by drowning it
(2) Kibin: that's stupid
(3) Derrel: Drinky Birds. 30 +5 Drinky Birds on the carcass,
(4) Elorin: The proposed tactics involved numerous Walls of Force, a Decanter of Endless Water, and maybe a Control Water spell to get the Tarrasque covered quickly
(2) Kibin: wha?
(3) Derrel: (The drinky bird idea came out of rpg.net)
(3) Derrel: (And it should work)
(2) Kibin: comeon jack.
(2) Kibin: lets go to the cheese room and wait.
(2) Kibin (exit): 10:20
(4) Elorin: Someone managed to find a response from WotC on the subject and linked to it
(4) Elorin: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dd/20050916a
(4) Elorin: "When the Monster Manual text says, the tarrasque can be slain only by raising its nonlethal damage total to its full normal hit points +10, you should pay attention to the only part of the sentence. Besides, no DM is going to let you kill a tarrasque with a few walls of force and a raise water spell."
(2) Kibin (enter): 10:22
(2) Kibin: GO TO CHEESE ROOM!
(3) Derrel: Why?
(2) Kibin: cheese.
(1) Jack Simth: Greetings.
(2) Kibin: now can we have cheese?
(1) Jack Simth: Cheese? That would be Jason, right?
Moving to room 'D and D'..

(2) Kibin: (when we last left our heros... derrel had a head injury and was kinda off, elorin was... someplace else, and we just killed a bunny.)
(2) Kibin: (does derrel remember any of the stuff that happened while he had a konk on the noggin? :)
(1) Jack Simth: (if he read up on the log, yes)
(2) Kibin: (aw. :P)
(3) Derrel: (...Nope)
(5) Kaylin: (I certainly would... it's worth hearing all the DM's whisperings)
(2) Kibin: (he can just ask us.)
(1) Jack Simth: When we last left our heros, everyone was exhausted from a horrid fight with a demon, come bunny, who would not die.
(4) Elorin: (and the story of The Bunny That Wouldn't Die is quite amusing)
(1) Jack Simth: Out in the middle of the road, of course.
(2) Kibin: (i'm just exausted from flying a mile away.
(1) Jack Simth: (Fatigued, actually)
** (3) Derrel runs the bunny over with a moterboat. **
(2) Kibin: (actually, derrel killed it with a smite CDG
(1) Jack Simth: (Nah - you're the one that actually killed it - NPC'd you for a round or two when I was done laughing)
(3) Derrel: (Yeah, but that's not as funny as a moterboat)
(5) Kaylin: I think this would be a good time to take a rest.
(2) Kibin: Yeah, Kaylin needs to make her carriage claw-proof.
** (5) Kaylin heads over to the carriage and leans back against a comfy cushion **
(3) Derrel: (Where'd we get the carraige?)
(5) Kaylin: (countess)
(1) Jack Simth: (Part of the reward from the Blue Dragon)
(3) Derrel: (Oh yeah)
(3) Derrel: (What level is Derrel now?)
(1) Jack Simth: (15)
(5) Kaylin: Kibin, if you want something to sleep on, I could pull out my mattress... it's still a bit bedraggled from the falls I've had.
(2) Kibin: (oh. and i took the liberty of getting most of the armor items)
(2) Kibin: Meh, just use polymorph after you rest.
(4) Elorin: (we still need to work out how much you owe the party loot pool for that)
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Oh, before you go to sleep, would you mind handing me that Ioun stone?
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: And maybe that staff?
(2) Kibin: (i need it :P)
(3) Derrel: (I don't think I'll ever get around to counting the treasure, so how about you give me an estimate of how much gold he would have?)
(5) Kaylin: (staff?)
** (5) Kaylin gives Jason the requested stuff **
(1) Jack Simth: (The +1/+1 quarterstaff)
(5) Kaylin: (oh, the spear thingy?)
(1) Jack Simth: (Lets Jason threaten for sneak attacks by Kibin against foes Jason can't grapple)
(2) Kibin: (how can he hold it?)
(3) Derrel: [2d10] -> [6,4] = (10)
(5) Kaylin: (ahh)
(1) Jack Simth: (Etherial Jaunt handing off by Kaylin)
(5) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Ethereal Jaunt ( level 7, "You become ethereal for 1 round/level." )
(2) Kibin: Hehe, now you're like Jason.
(2) Kibin: Kinda.
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Ah, thank you; very handy.
(5) Kaylin: I'm not that old! Do I look that old to you?
(2) Kibin: Not really, you're only about a tenth of the age of Jason.
** (2) Kibin curls up into a corner of the wagon, with his gold and stuff. **
(2) Kibin: (is the wagon covered?)
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Yes, Kaylin is still quite young, especally for an elf.
(1) Jack Simth: (Umm... unspecified... sure.)
(6) Elorin (enter): 10:34
(5) Kaylin: Aww. Kibin, you should learn from Jason.
** (5) Kaylin goes back to the wagon **
(2) Kibin: Hey, I never said you were old.
(2) Kibin: Just on the same plane as Jason.
(5) Kaylin: He knows how to talk to a lady.
(4) Elorin (exit): 10:35
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Ah, but you compared the lovely vision to myself, whiles I am starting to develop wrinkles.
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Well, there haven't really progressed any in the last millenium, so I suppose "develop" doesn't quite fit....
(2) Kibin: Don't you still look the same you did a thousand years ago?
(2) Kibin: Sleep...
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: I suppose I'll stand watch.
** (2) Kibin mumbles, "You go do that." **
(1) Jack Simth: Anyone have anything else to say before 8 hours pass?
(2) Kibin: Zzzzz...
(1) Jack Simth: In that case, Kibin, make a will save.
(1) Jack Simth: Or should that be Kaylin? Oh well, whoever's in the Carriage.
(3) Derrel: (Yeah - I still havn't gotten around to counting gold, so how about a low estimate, and I'll take that?)
(3) Derrel: (Been having migraines every day lately)
(5) Kaylin: Will save: [1d20+17] -> [12,17] = (29)
(5) Kaylin: (will save? should I be worried?)
whispering to Kaylin, as you sleep, you have a brief sensation penetrating your dreams of a hostile force fought off
(1) Jack Simth: Eight hours later.....
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Good morning! How was your rest this fine day?
** (2) Kibin goes for a morning flight. Weeee... **
(1) Jack Simth: (Oh... let's just call it a preliminary 20,000 loose gp)
(3) Derrel: (Ok, sure)
(5) Kaylin (whispering): Would that be something I could make a spellcraft check to identify what happened?
whispering to Kaylin, if you like.
(3) Derrel: (Thanks)
(5) Kaylin (whispering): [1d20 + 30] -> [2,30] = (32)
(2) Kibin: (10 gold pieces to a platnium piece?)
whispering to Kaylin, Scrying
** (5) Kaylin starts preparing spells **
(3) Derrel: (I think so)
(5) Kaylin (whispering): Was that good enough to look it up? :)
whispering to Kaylin, yep.
whispering to Kaylin, DC was 29 to know what it was; you could make that in your sleep.
(3) Derrel: (Yep)
(6) Elorin: (let's see, Kibin, what exactly was your old suit of armor that you're swapping out for the bracers of armor?)
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Well, after the lady is ready to make the universe play fetch, are we ready to go?
(2) Kibin: (+4 mithral chainshirt)
** (2) Kibin does another hop from the clouds a couple miles up. Weeee! **
(6) Elorin: Is the carriage about to become animated, too?
(5) Kaylin: I am. Incidentally, someone tried to Scry on me last night, probably the Sorceror.
** (2) Kibin is zooming down at 120 MPH, and will take about a minute to reach the ground. **
(6) Elorin: So, how quickly do we want to get this journey over with?
(6) Elorin: With the wagon and carriage animated, I can bring them along with Wind Walk, too
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Oh, I don't know; how fast can we go?
(5) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Polymorph Any Object ( level 8, "Changes any subject into anything else." )
(6) Elorin: With Wind Walk? About 60 miles per hour.
(2) Kibin: (please tell me you claw-proofed the carriage :)
(5) Kaylin: (only the exterior. The insides are now silk.)
(2) Kibin: (can it be clawproof silk? :)
(6) Elorin: (actually, 600 ft/round equates to about 68 mph)
(2) Kibin: (i'm just using the values stated)
(5) Kaylin: (clawproof silk? well... DM?)
(1) Jack Simth: (D&D approximation: Move of 10 ft/round = 1 mile/hour)
(2) Kibin: (i'm falling downward, so my speed is doubled
(1) Jack Simth: (Not so easily; however, you could make one side silk, the other leather)
(5) Kaylin: (I'll do that.)
(1) Jack Simth: (and leather would be sufficiently resistant)
(5) Kaylin: (and leave the silk side out while I'm in there)
(2) Kibin: (silk is fairly strong.)
** (3) Derrel begins to gently snore. **
(5) Kaylin: (not against draconic claws)
(2) Kibin: (well, i'm not going to TRY and scratch it, am i?)
(5) Kaylin: (hmm... not sure ;D)
(3) Derrel: (I've now got Improved Sunder)
(1) Jack Simth: (Yep; can even be made bullet-risistant; but there's a reason that bullet-proof vests don't work so hot against knives and knife-like things, such as dragon claws)
(1) Jack Simth: (Planning on destroying treasure?)
(2) Kibin: (make it clawresistant.)
(1) Jack Simth: Anyway.....
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Can you tag me that way? Or should I just possess one of the horses for the trip?
(2) Kibin: (or...)
(3) Derrel: (Better than getting killed)
(1) Jack Simth: (check out the Disarm mechanics sometime; the would provoke to pick it back up....)
(2) Kibin: (silk, if made thick enough, probally wouldn't get scratched by my claws.)
(5) Kaylin: Probably easiest to possess a horse
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Yep.
(3) Derrel: (Huh?)
(6) Elorin: You'll have to take a ride in something, unless you can get me to the etherial plane somehow to touch you
(1) Jack Simth: Jason sighs...
(6) Elorin: And we'll probably have to leave the other horse behind
(2) Kibin: :slows down, and lands.
(5) Kaylin: We can't bring it along via Wind Walk?
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Perhaps we should continue on the ground for a short ways, perhaps find a farmer that could use a horse.
(6) Elorin: Oh, I could cast Wind Walk on it, but it probably wouldn't react very well
(5) Kaylin: Any of us good with animals?
(5) Kaylin: (what is it, Handle Animal?)
(6) Elorin: Ordinary animals usually need training to handle that sort of thing
(6) Elorin: special training
(2) Kibin: (silk is used for bicycle tires)
(1) Jack Simth: (it would be Handle Animal, yes)
(5) Kaylin: Huh. Well, I have little knowledge of equestrian matters.
(1) Jack Simth: (which is Charisma-based; hmm.....)
(5) Kaylin: I shall leave the decision to you.
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Any chance you could shrink them down small enough to fit in your bag?
(6) Elorin: Would they be able to breathe in there?
(2) Kibin: (so is the carriage clawproof now? :)
(1) Jack Simth: (leather side of the cusions are)
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Perhaps leave the flap open.
(2) Kibin: How about we just sell the horses.
(5) Kaylin: Maybe we could stable them?
(2) Kibin: No use in carrying them around now that we have Kaylin.
(5) Kaylin: (brb, laundry stuff)
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Probably the best idea, selling them, as we don't really need them to pull the wagon or carriage.
(5) Kaylin: What? So I'm a horse to you?
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: No, you are the wonderful lady who invented the horseless carriage.
(2) Kibin: To the next city, then I guess. Maybe we can get the carriage scryproofed too.
** (3) Derrel mutters something about 'integral combustion'. **
(1) Jack Simth: Continue on the journey, then?
(1) Jack Simth: (Derrel's just burning up inside, isn't he?)
(3) Derrel: (Huh...Blesss Weapon)
(1) Jack Simth: Ready to continue on?
(2) Kibin: (continue! do dodo do do)
(3) Derrel: (I wouldn't exactly call him excitable)
(1) GM: Passing along a river that divides a forest and an extremely flat, windy, and almost sandless desert, you see a raggedly dressed and broken-looking man stumbling towards the blessed water... and collapse, ten feet from the life-giving waters.
(3) Derrel: (Would Bless Weapon require a non-magical weapon?)
** (6) Elorin is tempted to douse him with 28 gallons of water from a 0-level spell :P **
** (3) Derrel drags him over to the water and helps him drink a little. **
(5) Kaylin: (ooh plot)
(1) GM: (Oh, you could put it on Oraneormu, but it would only have the critical effect - the +1 wouldn't stack - listed as an enhancement bonus)
(1) GM: Rag man: I'm alive? I made it? They didn't say I'd survive.....
(3) Derrel: 'Who didn't say that you'd survive?'
** (2) Kibin peeks out of the nice, shaded wagon. **
(3) Derrel: (Still usefull)
(1) GM: Rag man: The other miners. Everyone wants out....
** (5) Kaylin glances luxuriously out of the royal carriage **
(5) Kaylin: Why would you want to escape from your job? Are perhaps the overseers cruel?
** (3) Derrel helps him into some shade. **
(2) Kibin: (into the wagon?)
(1) GM: Rag Man: Cruel? Not directly. Of course, in order to stay employed, you pretty much need to work 16 hours a day in the mines... and of course, only employees are permitted to stay on the mineowner's land. Heh. Of course the nearest water, other than the company well, is a hundred mile walk through a desert..... Mmm.... water?
(1) GM: Rag Man: The wages, though.....
(5) Kaylin: (Yay! Let's go bump uglies)
(3) Derrel: 'Wages? What are you mining?'
(1) GM: Escaped Miner: Adamantium. The wages are insanely high, because of the high demand for Adamantium Armor and the need for expensive protection - a Necklace of Adaptation is pricy, and it's about all that will stop the fumes from the mine from killing you, long term. Most places, it's not an issue; it takes a month for the fumes to kill most people, and with reasonable budgeting a miner can have the cash for it in nine or ten days. Most places....
(2) Kibin: Ooo, are you talking about that shiney purple stuff?
(3) Derrel: 'So...High prices for everything?'
(1) GM: Miner: Yes, and yes, although it isn't remotely shiny when we pull it out of the ground.
(3) Derrel: 'Is there any local law that could be enforced?'
(3) Derrel: * Derrel looks dubious
(1) GM: Escaped Miner: A thousand a day and you're lucky to break even on food, lodging, and equipment rental.
(5) Kaylin: You'll have to pardon our friend here, he's a paladin. You know how they are.
(3) Derrel: (Paladins' reflex - Look for the law first)
(3) Derrel: Always saving your behind?
(1) GM: Miner: Not really; the man owns the entire desert, as the ore is under there, and he doesn't know quite how far it extends. Technically, he's the local baron.
(5) Kaylin: That too.
(2) Kibin: (is that because of your class feature?)
(5) Kaylin: (haha)
(1) GM: Miner: Hmm... water....
** (3) Derrel brings him some more water. **
(1) GM: Miner: ... thanks.
(5) Kaylin: (Well... here's an opportunity for some good, some loot, and a chance to smite a baron. More looties)
(3) Derrel: 'Does anybody else live in the desert?'
(1) GM: Miner: Just the baron, the sellouts, and the fools. I no longer count myself in the third category.
(5) Kaylin: A thousand gold a day? Didn't the offer sound remotely suspicious?
(3) Derrel: 'Well...With the right spell, I can create 26 gallons of water a day. I'm pretty sure we could bring all the fools here.'
(1) GM: Miner: It's actually only a little over the going rate for adamantium miners - as I said, there's reasons for it - but it's really just an average; depends on how much ore you can bring up.
(3) Derrel: 'Given that I'm pretty sure Elorin could do so, as well'
(6) Elorin: If it's water your worried about for leading a mass exodus, I can provide PLENTY
(2) Kibin: You could start a town on the edge of this river!
(3) Derrel: (Gallon - That's about four litres, so...104 litres - 26 milk jugs)
(1) GM: (Paladin's get half caster level - you get 14 gallons per casting)
(3) Derrel: (Suddenly, the laws of physics do a quick retcon? 'I can create 14 gollons of water a day.')
(6) Elorin: ([47*28] -> 1316 gallons per day if I go all out Create Water)
(2) Kibin: (elorin falls.)
(1) GM: (yes, you could fill a swimming pool
(3) Derrel: (Uh...How? Oh, filling every single spell slot?)
(1) GM: (well, you do have more than one spell slot at 1st level, no?)
(6) Elorin: (If I use every single spell slot I've got, 0-7th level, that's 47 castings at 28 gallons each)
(3) Derrel: (Yeah, but 47 spell slots of 1st level?)
(3) Derrel: (Exactly my reasoning)
(2) Kibin: (higher level slots.)
(1) GM: Jason: Although it would probably be more effective to simply let them walk out on the winds.
(2) Kibin: So, let's go to those mines?
(1) GM: Raggedy Miner: You want in? You're crazy. That mine eats people alive. But if you must....
(6) Elorin: I can only cast that on a maximum of 32 people each day, though
(5) Kaylin: We can get out.
(1) GM: Exasperated Miner: ... then there's a recruiting station about five miles further up the river, where it intersects the main road. Good luck, you'll need it if you're planning to work there. My advice? Don't.
(5) Kaylin: Work?
(5) Kaylin: Us?
(5) Kaylin: Do I look like I've got a miner's build?
** (5) Kaylin gets out of the carriage with a ruler **
(2) Kibin: Kaylin could probally mine the whole cave in one day..
(3) Derrel: 'We're not planning on working there, we're planning on offering vacation packages. Free water and all the leaving the mine you want'
(1) GM: Miner: No.... but the baron does always need entertainers....
(5) Kaylin: O.O
** (5) Kaylin restrains herself **
(2) Kibin: Where do I fit in?
(3) Derrel: 'You're the half...Dragon'
(5) Kaylin: Just turn yourself into a female dancer.
(1) GM: Jason: You could pretend to be a kobold again; I beleive we still have that one outfit for you. Or you could borrow some of Kaylin's things.
** (2) Kibin glares at Kaylin. **
** (5) Kaylin looks innocent **
(6) Elorin: (so, anyone want to try talking him into wearing the slave-girl outfit? :P)
(5) Kaylin: (hmm, if only I had suggestion..)
(2) Kibin: (i'd rather turn you into a popsicle and fly off.)
(1) GM: Any more questions for the rag man?
(2) Kibin: (nope.)
(5) Kaylin: We should probably get him to guide us to the mine
(2) Kibin: (does the carriage have a lock?)
(6) Elorin: He's already given us directions to a recruiting station
(1) GM: Escaped miner: No way am I going back there. Ever. You need directions? Try the recruiting station.
(6) Elorin: I imagine they would happily guide us there
(2) Kibin: (by the way, for being a kobold again, can i use my old kobold stats?)
(5) Kaylin: How would we convince them that we're miner types?
(2) Kibin: :grabs his clothes, and flies into Kaylin's carriage for a moment.
(1) GM: (Sure.... normally, you'd get average kobold stats, but in this case, you can polymorph into your previous self, as that is the kobold form you are most familiar with)
(3) Derrel: 'I suspect the'll take anyone'
** (2) Kibin grabs his clothes, and flies into Kaylin's carriage for a moment. **
(1) GM: Miner: The Knight's right; they take all kinds.
(6) Elorin: Posing as potential buyers would probably work just as well
(2) Kibin: (theoretically i could adjust the stats around, too.)
(3) Derrel: 'We could pull that off, too'
(5) Kaylin: Hmm. Maybe this would be an opportunity to bring out the slave-girl outfit... these Robes won't indicate someone requiring work.
(2) Kibin: (like get some stuff in dexterity)
(1) GM: Miner: That not so much; he doesn't want to let his buyers know how he's making such an obscene profit.
(2) Kibin: (kaylin doesn't mind me being in her carriage? :P)
(6) Elorin: (Am I correct in assuming that this slave-girl outfit is rather revealing?)
(5) Kaylin: (not if you're becoming a kobold)
(5) Kaylin: (What else would it be?)
(1) GM: (yep)
(5) Kaylin: (besides, it's a desert. I don't want to die of heatstroke)
(3) Derrel: 'If we try to look like workers, they might notice that we look like deadly adventurers and put two and two together.'
(2) Kibin: (me neither.)
(3) Derrel: 'So someone should carry our gear and tail us.'
(3) Derrel: 'If we use the worker tactic.'
** (2) Kibin comes back out in a plain outfit, as a kobold. **
(1) GM: Miner: Where'd the little dragonling go?
(5) Kaylin: He looks like a worker.
(3) Derrel: 'One out of five.'
(3) Derrel: 'Shape-shifting.'
** (2) Kibin smiles. "I can be any humanoid or animal I want." **
(6) Elorin: Silver dragons can do that, you know.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, I can keep out of sight, easily enough. Can even hide the wagon and carriage, for a few minutes, anyway.
(5) Kaylin: THat'd be excellent if someone came poking around
(3) Derrel: 'Two out of five. Any chance you could carry our stuff?'
(6) Elorin: A fog bank in the middle of a desert might look a tad suspicious.
** (2) Kibin slips his money pouch underneath his shirt. **
** (5) Kaylin goes to the wagon and puts the slave-girl outfit on underneath the robes **
(1) GM: Jason: Hmm... yes it would. Tell you what; we put most the stuff in the carriage, have the lovely elf tell the carriage to follow my instructions, tell the wagon to stay put and defend itself, and then I'll see about getting your stuff to you under cover of darness. I'll need some kind of signal light to follow, however.
(6) Elorin: (btw Kibin, I'm calculating you owe that party loot pool 46739.7 gp in addition to your old armor, Ring of Prot. +2, and Amulet of Nat. Armor +2 if you want the bracers, ring +4, and amulet +4)
** (2) Kibin glances at his small pile of 6,000+ platnium pieces. Hmmm. **
(5) Kaylin: (did you remember to subtract the amount for the Warpng?)
(1) GM: (You're starting to act a little more Lawful than Chaotic....)
(5) Kaylin: (me?)
(1) GM: (Elorin)
(2) Kibin: (NEVER!)
(5) Kaylin: (ah, well, us chaotics are concerned about loot too)
(2) Kibin: (already paid for the warping.)
(1) GM: (just a warning, for now)
(5) Kaylin: (oh yeah, you clerics have issues with that :D)
(6) Elorin: (I'm doing the calculations OOC because no one else has volunteered and I'm pretty good at that sort of thing)
(6) Elorin: (IC, someone with more intelligence is probably doing it all)
(5) Kaylin: (wonderful)
(2) Kibin: (who's the only person who's died? jason doesn't count.)
(5) Kaylin: (can I go all Gauss and say "Oh yeah, I just realised that you owe blah blah blah"?)
(2) Kibin: Ready to go?
(3) Derrel: (Perhaps we should leave some food with the miner?)
(1) GM: Jason: Well, after the carriage is loaded, and the appropriet orders are given.
(5) Kaylin: (yay)
(5) Kaylin: Food would be a good idea, right, good miner?
(1) GM: Miner: I haven't eaten in two days.....
(1) GM: Miner: yes, food sounds good.
(5) Kaylin: A very good idea then.
(2) Kibin: (can you hurry up and get to a wish. or something? so i won't have these wolf instincts any longer.)
(1) GM: (I'm working that in.... there's more going on than meets the ear)
(2) Kibin: (yay.)
(2) Kibin: I could catch him a few deer...
** (3) Derrel points out that one deer provides quite a bit of meat for a human. **
(2) Kibin: Of course, I'd have to go back to a dragon if I want to do that.
(2) Kibin: (i'm not telepathic here, you know.)
(5) Kaylin: I have several food units left from my shopping trip a while ago
(5) Kaylin: (do we actually keep track of that sort of thing?)
(1) GM: (food, yes; now that we shall be having a desert adventure, water, too)
(6) Elorin: ("food units"? I think "trail rations" would be a more common term)
(5) Kaylin: (hmm, ok, how many days have passed since I joined the party?)
(5) Kaylin: (hah, but I'm an intellectually snobbish elf)
(1) GM: (about four that weren't in hotels)
(3) Derrel: (Can't one of us create food?)
(6) Elorin: (get a Ring of Sustenance and never worry about tracking food use again :) )
(2) Kibin: :waits patiently.
(5) Kaylin: (fiend)
** (2) Kibin waits patiently. **
(2) Kibin: (hey. you have to track it for a week after you put it on.)
(1) GM: Jason: Well, are the four of you ready to get going?
(2) Kibin: Yes, lets go.
(6) Elorin: Let's see, Kibin looks like a worker, Jason's going to be staying out of sight, what about the rest of us?
(6) Elorin: Or are we going as is?
(2) Kibin: Ah, let's just wing it. Derrel is a bodyguard, Elorin can heal.
(5) Kaylin: I could go as is or as a slave-girl and pretend to be a servant... not sure how convincing I'd be, and you'd regret any abuse...
(3) Derrel: (I'm going to buy some rations)
(2) Kibin: Can we get this over with? I don't want to stay in the desert too long...
(1) GM: Jason: just load up most your equipment into the carriage; I'll bring it to you when I see... say... a fireball in the desert, going straight up.
(5) Kaylin: Sounds good...
(1) GM: Jason: Just make sure to do so at night, when it will be easier to make out.
(3) Derrel: (Oh, I already did that)
(2) Kibin: :steps into Kaylin's carriage, looking around. "I guess Jason is going to be carrying my large stash of platnium pieces?"
(5) Kaylin: He won't steal it. Not all of us are theives.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh relax; I'm hardly a rouge to walk off with everything.
(5) Kaylin: (ooh! insulting term for rogue.)
(2) Kibin: Isn't it rogue?
(1) GM: Jason: Besides; how can I get any of it to where I can use it withouth the lovely Kaylin's aid?
(2) Kibin: Okay, now you're pushing it.
(2) Kibin: Aren't you a little too old to be flirting?
(1) GM: Jason: Hardly; the carriage steers itself, now.
(5) Kaylin: (well, I have 12 rations..)
(3) Derrel: (17)
** (5) Kaylin leaves 3 day's worth of food for the miner **
** (3) Derrel hands Kaylin 3 rations **
(5) Kaylin: I don't mind a few compliments from such a handsome spirit.
(5) Kaylin: Thank you, good sir..
(2) Kibin: Can we get on?
(1) GM: Jason: And I think, to speed him on his way.....
(2) Kibin: On with it, can we go?
(1) GM: Jason conjours up a phantom steed for the miner
(5) Kaylin: So.. should I be going as a powerful wizardess or as an attractive servant?
(1) GM: Jason: Just don't examine it too closely; it should walk at about 22 miles an hour; plenty for getting you to a nearby town before it fades from existance.
(2) Kibin: :leans back on a comfy silk cushion. "Ahhh..."
(2) Kibin: (did kaylin also invent air conditioning for it? :D)
** (2) Kibin leans back on a comfy silk cushion. "Ahhh..." **
(1) GM: Jason: The role of servant is probably better for getting you through the door; I doubt such a baron would like anyone who could threaten his position.
(5) Kaylin: True.
** (5) Kaylin heads back to her wagon, throws Kibin out, and removes the Robe of the Archmagi **
(5) Kaylin: (er, carriage)
whispering to Kaylin, Oh, and the spell Jason cast earlier - Shadow Conjouration
** (2) Kibin hits the ground with a whuff of air. "The least you could do is warn me, I can't fly while a kobold..." **
(5) Kaylin: Sorry about that, but a lady needs her privacy.
** (5) Kaylin gets all decked out in shiny artwork/jewelry **
(3) Derrel: (Food)
(1) GM: The miner grabs the food, hops on the horse, and coaxes it into a "walk" of 22 miles per hour.
(2) Kibin: (how exactly would a cloak look for a dragon?)
(5) Kaylin: have a safe journey!
(1) GM: (A bit odd, and probably get in the way of it's wings)
(2) Kibin: (it could be a short cloak.)
(1) GM: (True, or maybe just tied a little with some rope)
(1) GM: Heading off to recruiting station?
(1) GM: Also, who all is leaving what?
(2) Kibin: (maybe they're magically enchanted not to get in the way of the wings?)
(5) Kaylin: (I'm putting the Robe in the Bag of holding.)
(5) Kaylin: (and hauling it along with me)
(2) Kibin: (i'm leaving my 6,000 platnium pieces behind, with the gold silver and copper. with 50 platnium pieces in my money pouch.)
(3) Derrel: (Well, I'd have to leave the plate mail and the shield. Quite possibly Oran, too)
(2) Kibin: (and i'm leaving the theives tools behind, don't want to freak the peoples out.)
(5) Kaylin: (Put those in the Bag)
(2) Kibin: (derrel, why? you can just be a guardian)
(2) Kibin: (or that.
(2) Kibin: (hey. you could look for work as a bodyguard! :)
** (3) Derrel says 'Bye for now' to Oran and puts everything in the Bag **
(2) Kibin: (pointy objects in bag? no.)
(5) Kaylin: (don't put pokey stuff in)
(1) GM: (Sheath isn't quite so pointy)
(2) Kibin: (well there's that.)
(2) Kibin: I wonder what it's like in a bag of holding...
** (2) Kibin pokes his head in to find out. **
(1) GM: (mind you, that means it takes two move actions to ready her again....)
whispering to Kibin, you see an oddly non-place with stuff in it.
(5) Kaylin: (2 is better than having it a mile away)
(2) Kibin (whispering): a non-place is?
whispering to Kibin, nothingness
** (2) Kibin must look really odd with his head in a tiny bag. **
(6) Elorin: (I'm leaving the Animated shield. Is there anything else that would look especially suspicious (I'm assuming they're not going to detect magic on every applicant))
** (2) Kibin pokes his head out. **
(1) GM: What you leave behind is up to you.
(1) GM: Any other notes I should be aware of?
** (2) Kibin has most of his items hidden ounder his clothing. **
(1) GM: Slight of hand check?
(1) GM: Well, save that for later, when the spot check happesn.
(1) GM: To the Recruiting station?
(3) Derrel: (Food again)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+14] -> [2,14] = (16)
(2) Kibin: (ah. k. that sucked, so i'll do it later.)
(2) Kibin: (well, the bracers look like normal bracers i guess._
(5) Kaylin: (hope nobody casts Detect Magic)
(2) Kibin: (i'd glow up like a christmas tree)
(6) Elorin: (so would I)
(2) Kibin: (what i mean by hidden, is that it looks like normal stuff.)
(1) GM: Anything more, or to the recruiting station?
** (2) Kibin goes into the Carriage, ready to go. Ooo, plush seat covers. **
(6) Elorin: (on to the station)
(1) GM: Rounding a bend, you spot the recruiting station the miner was reffering to. There's three extremely similar people in clean uniforms with picks standing in the shade of what looks very much like a simple merchant's stand on the forest side of the river, and some odd contraption in the background on the other side, across a sturdy stone bridge - it looks much like a large, low, sturdy wagon with a boat's tacking sail in the middle, currently down so as not to get caught in the ever-present wind, and an odd steering arrangement. No horses or other beasts of burden are in evidence, although there is a dirt road with deep ruts leading through the forest, over the bridge, and off into the distance in the desert.
(1) GM: One of the men greets the approaching cloud loudly.
(1) GM: Recruiter: Ahoy! Care to make your fortune mining? Most miners at the adamine earn a thousand a day.
(1) GM: As you get closer, you find you can spot small differences in the recruiters... but they are similar enough that they must be closely related.
(1) GM: One of the recruiters seems to stop and concentrate for a few moments....
(5) Kaylin: (crap)
** (5) Kaylin acts all servanty **
(2) Kibin: (if it's true seeing, they should suffer from a confusion spell by looking at me.)
** (2) Kibin nods to the recruiter in response. **
(6) Elorin: (Is he casting something, or just scrutinizing us?)
(5) Kaylin: (he's probably ogling me)
(1) GM: (Anyone responding to him, other than a nod?)
(5) Kaylin: (heck, I'd ogle me)
(2) Kibin: (kaylin, you're not my type)
(5) Kaylin: (hehe)
(6) Elorin: A thousand a day? That's quite an impressive income.
(1) GM: Recruiter: It is, for those who have a penchant for mining. Those who can't mine... well.... There are other positions that pay well too ... especially for classy dames.
(5) Kaylin: (oh jeez.)
(2) Kibin: (i guess +3 is good enough?)
(1) GM: [1d20+7] -> [4,7] = (11)
(1) GM: Anyone going to respond?
(1) GM: They don't apprear to notice anything wrong with Kibin's outfit.
(3) Derrel: 'Well, money is always nice.'
(2) Kibin: (what was wrong with my outfit?)
(5) Kaylin: (seeing as how I'm a servant of someone... probably elorin... I can't, probably)
(1) GM: Recruiter: Great! You wanting to sign on? We can take as many as we can get.
(6) Elorin: For that much, I suppose I could take up mining.
(2) Kibin: I would like to.
(1) GM: Recruiter: Is that your slave-elf? The big boss would probably be interested in buying her from you.
(3) Derrel: 'Sounds nice.'
(1) GM: Recruiter: If not, he might see about hiring her himself.
(5) Kaylin: (slave-elf? umm... are these people slavers or something?)
(1) GM: (You did say she put on the slave-girl outfit, no?)
(6) Elorin: (well, you ARE wearing a slave outfit...)
(5) Kaylin: (true.)
(3) Derrel: (Somebody make up something, quick!)
(5) Kaylin: (I can't respond. Slave and all that...)
(2) Kibin: :says, "She's not for sale."
** (2) Kibin says, "She's not for sale." **
(1) GM: Recruiter: Ah well; only employees, the owner, and the owner's property are permitted on the premisis, then; she'll have to stay behind.
(2) Kibin: She can work too.
(5) Kaylin: (Yeah, don't I look muscular with 8 str)
(1) GM: Recruiter: Ah, well that's a different story, then.
(2) Kibin: Maybe as an entertainer or something.
(6) Elorin: Perhaps her services could be hired on a temporary basis?
(1) GM: Recruiter: Well, that would probably work; would need to be discussed with the Baron, though.
(1) GM: Recruiter: Good for a trip up that direction on our sailed-wagon.
(6) Elorin: "sailed-wagon"?
(1) GM: The recruiter grins
(1) GM: Recruiter: A mircale of gnomish design; on that contraption, we can make well-neigh thirty miles an hour. We can get you all the way to the mine in just four hours, if you sign up.
(2) Kibin: Sign us up, then.
(1) GM: The recruiter smiles at your words, climbs on the sail-wagon with one of his companions, and gestures for you to join him.
(1) GM: Recruiter: Hop on, and we can be off.
** (2) Kibin hops up onto the sail-wagon, then. **
** (6) Elorin gets on the wagon **
** (5) Kaylin follows Elorin **
** (3) Derrel follows Elorin **
(1) GM: Once everyone's aboard the sail-wagon, the two mining men carefully point the sail, making sure to have everyone duck before the crossbeam goes over their heads, and raise the sail.
(1) GM: The wind catches and fills the sail.
(1) GM: Wood creaks.... and it moves. Slowly, at first, but gaining speed almost immediately to a pace which even horses have trouble matching at a full gallop. Raises a fair amount of dust, though, which blows away in the wind.
(1) GM: The two men seem to know what they are doing, and make some odd, seemingly senseless turns every now and again, but in a few hours, you arrive at the entrance to the mine.
(1) GM: It doesn't look like much; a big hole in the ground, and a few sandstone buildings. You recognize what looks like a mess hall, some barracks, what looks to be a refinery or smithy - perhaps both - but you don't see any smoke from it, and a store; there's also a walled manor, with a few guards at the gate.
(1) GM: A few men stand waiting for the sail-wagon to arrive, dressed in the same stylized miner's outfits the recruiters wearl these men too bear a striking resemblence to both each other and the recruiters. The recruiters running the sail-wagon lower the sail, apply the breaks, and come to a stop next to the miners in waiting. They then gesture for everyone to debark.
(1) GM: Recruiters: Well, we're here; all ashore.
** (6) Elorin gets off **
** (3) Derrel exits the wagon **
** (5) Kaylin follows Elorin **
(2) Kibin: :hops off, looking around.
(1) GM: Oh, and Kibin - make a Fort save.
(2) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [4,11] = (15)
(2) Kibin: (i'm going to kill you if i die again :P)
(1) GM: You get a bit overly tanned, but it doesn't quite hurt....
(5) Kaylin: (what, you're going to rot on him?)
(1) GM: (kinda hard - I'm quite a fair distance away)
(2) Kibin: (oh yeah. i'm a silver dragon :P)
(3) Derrel: (What doesn't?)
(2) Kibin: (actually, technically, that was a 14. i don't get +1 from constitution as a kobold.)
(1) GM: (Oh, in that case, take [1d6] -> [4] = (4) sunburn.)
(2) Kibin: (owie :P)
** (2) Kibin gets a sunburn. Ow. **
(2) Kibin: (why don't they have to make the saves. meh.)
(6) Elorin: (you're the only one with fire vulnerability)
(1) GM: Stylized Miner: Welcome! New recruits! It's a little late to start mining today, so you probably ought to get settled in. Shall I guide you to the mess hall or the barracks first?
** (2) Kibin says, "Barracks would be good for me." **
(3) Derrel: 'Barracks sounds good.'
(6) Elorin: Barracks
(1) GM: Stylized Miner: To the barracks, then.
** (2) Kibin glances around at the rest of the people here. **
(1) GM: The miner leads you to a building....
(6) Elorin: Unless full travelling and hunting gear is expected in the mess hall
(1) GM: The barracks are a crude stone and wood affair, that look like they get used quite a bit. Several miners sleep the sleep of the exhausted, and you finally see many people who don't look almost identical; they look rather unkempt, though. An unsurprisingly familiar person in a stylized miner's outfit stands at a desk near the door and greets you.
(1) GM: Innkeeper: Ah, new miners! Do come in and take a rest; don't worry about the fee, we'll just deduct it from tomorrow's pay at the mine.
** (2) Kibin asks, "And how much do you deduct?" **
(6) Elorin: How much is the fee?
(5) Kaylin: (we did leave the wagons off somewhere, right?)
(6) Elorin: I want to know how much it will cut into our wages
(1) GM: Inkeeper: Oh, we pro-rate it for your ability; grant a discount to those who can't mine quite so well. No worries.
(2) Kibin: (elorin, get with the times already :P)
** (2) Kibin asks again, "I'd like to know how much..." **
(1) GM: Inkeeper: We pro-rate it for your ability. We won't have the exact figures for you until tomorrow.
(3) Derrel: 'Oh, I'm sure we have nothing to worry about. It's a thousand a day.'
(3) Derrel: (Mentally kicking Kibin)
(5) Kaylin: (yay Derrel, pretending to be suckered)
** (2) Kibin has another idea of how they do it... **
(3) Derrel: (No stir up fuss till have weapons)
(2) Kibin: (bah. fleshy weaklings without natural weapons :P)
(3) Derrel: (And handy ghost to grapple things)
(3) Derrel: (BRB)
(6) Elorin: All right, so where's our room(s)?
(1) GM: Inkeeper: Unfortunately, the construction budget wasn't quite up to individual rooms; just grab a bunk.
(5) Kaylin: (I have to room with these cretins?)
(5) Kaylin: (swearword...)
(1) GM: (unless you plan to inquire with the baron for more luxourious ones... of course, he's liable to offer his own... pity there's only the one bed....)
(6) Elorin: Plenty of patrons with 1000 gp/day income, and you couldn't afford individual rooms for them?
(1) GM: Inkeeper: It's pricy to get sandstone and wood this far out in the desert.
** (2) Kibin hops up on one of the bunks and sleeps for the night. **
(1) GM: (not eating?)
** (5) Kaylin gets out the rations from the Bag **
(2) Kibin: (well, i can last a while without food, can't i? besides, i already ate recently.)
(2) Kibin: (or not.)
(1) GM: (true engouh)
** (2) Kibin grabs one of the rations. **
(1) GM: Inkeeper: I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I will have to confiscate that; we can't have outside food on the premesis. Baron's orders.
(1) GM: The inkeeper reaches over to grab the rations....
(5) Kaylin: (Be that way, bastard.)
(6) Elorin: Why not?
(5) Kaylin: (/me casts Disintegrate....)
(1) GM: Inkeeper: Baron's orders. He's the ruler hereabouts. I don't question him.
** (2) Kibin hmmms. "Very well..." **
(5) Kaylin: (We'll get it back, don't worry. Just kill everyone here...)
** (6) Elorin decides not to mention his Ring of Sustenance... **
(1) GM: The inkeeper grabs the rations, and takes them.
(3) Derrel: (Have to go do something)
(1) GM: A moment later, with no apparent cause, another stylized miner walks in, is handed the rations by the inkeeper, and walks out with them.
(1) GM: Inkeeper: I can call someone to take you over to the mess hall, if you're hungry.
(5) Kaylin: (Elorin, if I was really your servant/slave, can I talk?)
(5) Kaylin: (or just in elvish?)
(6) Elorin: (yes, except in distinguished company, in which case only when addressed)
** (2) Kibin shakes his head. "Not very hungry." **
(5) Kaylin: I could get something to eat. Plus, we should try to get more information about this place.
(5) Kaylin: (hmm, didn't accept the )
(1) GM: Inkeeper: You may want to eat anyay; people burn a lot of energy mining.
(5) Kaylin: (in elvish. doesn't like pointy brackets)
(1) GM: A moment later, another stylized miner comes in
** (2) Kibin says, "I'll get something to eat in the morning." **
(6) Elorin: {}
(1) GM: Guild: I hear tell you would like me to take you to the mess hall?
(1) GM: (sorry, that's "Guide)
(6) Elorin: (you can use {} to designate elvish speech)
(5) Kaylin: (ok)
(6) Elorin: yes
** (3) Derrel heads over to the mess hall. **
** (2) Kibin decides to come along anyway. **
(1) GM: Guide: Great! Follow me.
(1) GM: The mess hall is a crude stone and wood affair, that look like it gets used quite a bit. Several miners eat what looks like wet cardboard; they eat very quickly, apparently in a hurry to get it over with; these miners have a wide variety to their appearence; they look rather unkempt, though. You can see a large pot with a serving spoot and some bowls at the far end. An unsurprisingly familiar person in a stylized miner's outfit stands at a desk near the door and greets you.
(1) GM: Mess Sergant: Ah, new miners! Do come in and take a bite; don't worry about the fee, we'll just deduct it from tomorrow's pay at the mine.

(5) Kaylin: (clicked twice again?)
(1) GM: (Yep)
(1) GM: (cheap mouse)
** (2) Kibin hmmms. **
** (6) Elorin senses a pervasive theme about everything provided for the miners here **
(5) Kaylin: {I'm starting to get tired of these people...
(5) Kaylin: (hey, who all speaks Elvish in the party?)
(6) Elorin: (me, of course)
(2) Kibin: (not me.)
(3) Derrel: (Derrel speaks Common, Common and more Common)
(5) Kaylin: (hahaha)
(1) GM: (Jason does... but he's not here)
(6) Elorin: (human with 10 intelligence?)
(1) GM: (eight or nine, actually....)
(2) Kibin: (he's stupid...)
(5) Kaylin: (Int is a paladin dump stat I guess)
(1) GM: Anyone checking on the food?
(6) Elorin: (unless you plan on taking Combat Expertise and associated feats)
** (2) Kibin seen it, and goes back to the beds. **
(6) Elorin: (I'm actually playing a Paladin with wisdom as a dump stat in one game)
(5) Kaylin: (true dat)
(3) Derrel: (Derrel replies on his wisdom and common sense, of which he seems to be the only recipient)
** (3) Derrel eats some food, tries not to barf and goes back to bed. **
whispering to Derrel, it doesn't taste bad... just has the consistancy of wet cardboard and no flavor to it at all
(3) Derrel: (For one thing, Derrel wouldn't have flashed his rations around, nor the bags ability to hold that much)
** (5) Kaylin looks at the food, decides to eat a tiny amount, and becomes sick for a bit **
whispering to Kaylin, it doesn't taste bad... just has the consistancy of wet cardboard and no flavor to it at all; spellcraft check?
(5) Kaylin: (I did it behind my back...)
(5) Kaylin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+30] -> [11,30] = (41)
** (2) Kibin lays on the bed. **
(5) Kaylin: (well, a better roll...)
** (6) Elorin gets some food and eats a small portion of it **
whispering to Kaylin, results of a Sustaining Spoon
whispering to Elorin, it doesn't taste bad... just has the consistancy of wet cardboard and no flavor to it at all
(5) Kaylin (whispering): look-upable?
whispering to Kaylin, yep.
** (2) Kibin is on the nice, not so comfy beds. **
** (6) Elorin announces quietly after chewing a bit that he's not hungry enough yet to eat something with no taste **
(1) GM: Where to next? Barracks? Or just wait until nightfall....
** (6) Elorin goes back to the barracks **
(2) Kibin: (barracks till nightfall!)
(5) Kaylin: {goddamn that stuff tasted bland.}
(1) GM: The time at the barracks passes without incidient... after dark....
(6) Elorin: Are substantial areas of the Inn out of easy earshot of any of the people in stylized outfits?
(6) Elorin: (er, that was OOC)
(1) GM: It's a fairly large barracks, and there's only the one stylized miner that you can see, standing next to the door.
(1) GM: The only door.
(2) Kibin: (he talking?)
(2) Kibin: (i mean awake)
(5) Kaylin: (someone go talk to him)
(5) Kaylin: (heh0
(1) GM: Yes, he's awake.
(3) Derrel: (Ooh...Epic Great Smiting)
(2) Kibin: (this is around 12:00? with everyone else sleeping?)
(3) Derrel: (And these guys can seemingly communicate without talking)
(1) GM: Yep; about 3/4ths the beds are full.
** (6) Elorin tries to start up a quiet conversation with some of the miners in the back about work conditions, pay, fees, etc. here, if any of them are awake) **
(3) Derrel: (So answer a call of nature and do a fireball)
(1) GM: Seems all of the unkempt miners fell into the beds, and were asleep by the time they impacted....
** (2) Kibin looks for any other openings. **
(1) GM: The building is quite secure.
(5) Kaylin: (is there a bathroom where I could disintegrate a hole in the ceiling?)
(1) GM: Not inside, no.
(2) Kibin: (not even a tiny hole?)
(1) GM: (disintigrate leaves 10x10x10 cubes of nonliving matter gone - hard to make a small hole)
(2) Kibin: (like, say, a snake or a lizard could slip through?)
(5) Kaylin: (whoever said 'small'? :P)
(1) GM: Despite crude appearances, the barracks is extremely secure; you get the impression not even wind from a sandstorm could get in anywhere but the door... and that can be closed.
** (2) Kibin hmmms. "Place is very secure..." **
(3) Derrel: (When I said 'Answer a call of nature' I meant use it as an excuse to go outside)
** (2) Kibin pokes the sleepy GM.() **
(1) GM: Well, if you aren't going outside.....
** (5) Kaylin goes to the "miner" guy **
(1) GM: Inkeeper: What do you need?
(5) Kaylin: Is there a restroom nearby?
(1) GM: Inkeeper: There is a latrine, yes.
(1) GM: A moment later, another stylized miner walks in the door.
(1) GM: Guide: I can take you there.
(5) Kaylin: I would be most grateful if you could.
(1) GM: Guide: Follow me.
** (2) Kibin wishes we had mass hold person. **
** (5) Kaylin follows the guide **
(5) Kaylin: (hey, what check is necessary to seduce someone, and what are the D&D effects?)
(1) GM: The guide starts walking, out and around behind the barracks, where a crude wood arrangement permits one to sit over a pit in the sand, which is full and stinking of waste.
(8) Kibin (enter): 12:55
(1) GM: (Bluff vs. Sense Motive, I would think..... and upping the status of the target to "friendly" if successful; failures not so good.)
(5) Kaylin: (oh jeez.)
(5) Kaylin: (that's awful)
(9) Derrel (enter): 12:55
(10) Elorin (enter): 12:55
(2) Kibin (exit): 12:55
(6) Elorin (exit): 12:55
(8) Kibin: (too bad we don't have a rogue that specifically got ranks in bluff...)
(3) Derrel (exit): 12:56
(5) Kaylin: (time for the vertical fireball?)
(1) GM: (up to the caster. You could also go back to bed and see what tomorrow brings)
(1) GM: (or make a run for it; whatever.)
(5) Kaylin: (naah. I'll pretend to do something.)
(1) GM: The guide walks around a corner to let you do your buisiness
** (5) Kaylin scrambles away from there after holding her breath for a suitable period of time **
** (8) Kibin wonders how long he can hold it in. **
(5) Kaylin: (to guide:) Thank you. back to the barracks?
(9) Derrel: (You gonna fireball?)
(5) Kaylin: (not yet. just scouting out the terrain)
(1) GM: The guide pops back from aorund the corner
(1) GM: Guide: If you like.
(1) GM: Guide: We're here to serve.
(5) Kaylin: (with my awesome lowlight vision.)
(5) Kaylin: (who's in the slave-girl outfit, pretentious fool?)
(8) Kibin: (mine is more awsome.)
** (5) Kaylin heads back to the barracks **
(5) Kaylin: (yeah, but you're not outside)
(1) GM: (by the way - anyone care to make a sense motive check?)
(8) Kibin: [1d20+1] -> [7,1] = (8)
(9) Derrel: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+1] -> [13,1] = (14)
(5) Kaylin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+2] -> [14,2] = (16)
(10) Elorin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+8] -> [8,8] = (16)
(5) Kaylin: (whee.)
(1) GM: Those stylized miners are such great people! They seem quite genuine.
(5) Kaylin: (wondrous)
(10) Elorin: (what, no circumstance bonus for prior knowledge?)
(8) Kibin: (great. except that my player instincts are screaming in the back of my mind, THEY'RE ALL PART OF A PLOT!)
(9) Derrel: (I'd think a +10 bonus)
(5) Kaylin: (I'd like a +10 bonus)
** (8) Kibin sleeps. Zzzzz... **
(10) Elorin: (now if I actually had a decent number of skill points to spend, that is a class skill for me...)
(1) GM: The next morning?
(5) Kaylin: (Can I prepare spells by turning my back and sitting in a corner while pretending to give Elorin a back rub or something?)
(8) Kibin: (what spells did you use? :)
(5) Kaylin: (ah yeah.)
(1) GM: (have you expended any since the night before? You probably don't need to.... but you can't anyway, as you only got a grand total of 8 hours to yourself, which had an interruption, and.....)
(5) Kaylin: (ah. bugger.)
(5) Kaylin: (oh well, if didn't expend any)
(1) GM: Anothe stylized miner walks in, this one with a clipboard and some writing instrucments.
(5) Kaylin: {That's a lousy grip he's got there.}
(1) GM: Straw Boss: Rise and shine, everyone; time to go to breakfast, then grab your gear, and get to work.
(1) GM: The scruffy miners all quietly get up, and head out to breakfast.
** (8) Kibin wonders how much longer he can go without food. **
(1) GM: Straw boss: Ah, new recruits! You ready for your first day at the mine?
(8) Kibin: Ready as I'll ever be.
(5) Kaylin: {maaaybe.}
(5) Kaylin: Yes...
(10) Elorin: yes
(9) Derrel: 'Yes.'
(1) GM: Straw boss: Then let's go!
(5) Kaylin: (whee, talking in other languages is fun)
(9) Derrel: (Haul sixteen tons, and what do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt. Saint Peter don't you call me...)
(9) Derrel: (Probably just confused everybody)
(5) Kaylin: (I thought it was fifteen)
(1) GM: The straw boss leads you to the mess hall, where you are given a scant 15 minutes to eat. The scruffy miners are all very, very busy eating.
(9) Derrel: (Or not)
(5) Kaylin: (I actually sang that song in the shower this morning)
** (9) Derrel eats quickly **
(5) Kaylin: (I can't sing, btw)
(1) GM: (It's sixteen tons - looked up the song earlier.....)
** (5) Kaylin eats quickly while trying not to let the stuff touch her mouth **
(9) Derrel: (I can sing. It's just that people tell to tell me not too)
** (8) Kibin eats quickly, choking it all down. **
(5) Kaylin: (hehe)
(5) Kaylin: (we don't owe our souls to the store, do we?)
(1) GM: After the fifteen minutes, the scruffy miners all head over to the shop, and the straw boss leads you there.....
(9) Derrel: (No contract was signed to that effect)
** (10) Elorin chokes it down for appearance's sake **
(1) GM: The shop contains a single individual... an unsurprisingly familiar person in a stylized miner's outfit standing behind a desk, behind whom you can see oil, oil lamps, picks, shovels, and all manner of mining equipment.
(1) GM: Store Clerk: Ah, new miners! Do come in and rent your equipment; don't worry about the fee, we'll just deduct it from your pay at the mine.
(9) Derrel: (Just don't suggest it to them)
(5) Kaylin: {Damn, you'd think they could make it taste better...}
(5) Kaylin: {a lot of deductions...}
** (8) Kibin just ignores the oil and oil lamps. Yay for darkvision.. **
(10) Elorin: {gee, how could I guess how they'd charge it...}
(1) GM: The Store Clerk systemically hands everyone a hat with a flame on the top, and a finely crafted purple pick.
(5) Kaylin: {divine magic?}
whispering to Kaylin, Continual Flame on the hats
(8) Kibin: (flame on the top?)
(5) Kaylin: {hmm, continual flame. They must have a wizard nearby...}
** (8) Kibin says, "I don't need the light, my eyes are adapted for the mines." **
(5) Kaylin: (I wonder if all this elvish talking is creeping people out...)
(1) GM: The store clerk just blinks at you, making no response... but doesn't hand you the hat when you get up to him.
** (8) Kibin wonders if any of these people saw a kobold before. **
(1) GM: After everyone gets their equipment, the scruffy miners head down to the mine, and the straw boss leads you there.....
** (9) Derrel takes his hat and pick and prepares to listen to any talking miners. **
(5) Kaylin: (AIEEEE ROCKS)
(5) Kaylin: (there's rocks down there)
(1) GM: The entrance to the mine is a little more than just a hole in the ground - a set of iron tracks lead from the mine to the refinery, and occasionally you see an unkempt miner pushing a wheeled cart, either empty from the refinery or full from the mine, from one to the other.
(1) GM: Straw Boss: Ah, new miners! Do come in andmine; this is where you earn your keep; I shall track the ore you mine, and give you a certificate to be redeemed at the company store, after all fees for services rendered have been deducted, of course.
** (8) Kibin is hatless, muuwaahaahaa. But he has his pick in hand. **
(1) GM: The scruffy miners all file into the mine....
(5) Kaylin: (how did I guess it'd be "company store"?)
(5) Kaylin: (how heavy is the pick?)
(1) GM: (20 pounds)
(5) Kaylin: (hmm, I'm at medium load.)
(8) Kibin: (half that for me.)
(8) Kibin: (since me small.)
(1) GM: (no, they gave everyone a full-sized pick. You can wield it awkwardly, though.)
(8) Kibin: (bah.)
(1) GM: Follow inside?
** (9) Derrel heads inside **
(8) Kibin: (then i would be at medium load, too...)
(8) Kibin: (heck yeah.)
(1) GM: The mine is cold and damp; a caustic scent assails your throat and lungs; many people of a wide variety work here, sweating and chisling away at the rock. There are a fair number of the curiously identicle miners in stylized outfits... strangely clean in the dusty air... walking around making sure everyone is working continuously and taking notes. Seems they don't get rest breaks....
(1) GM: Everyone, make a fort save
** (10) Elorin heads in **
(10) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+15] -> [6,15] = (21)
(5) Kaylin: Fortitude save: [1d20+9] -> [11,9] = (20)
(8) Kibin: [1d20+10] -> [4,10] = (14)
(8) Kibin: (oh SURE. kaylin has better saves that me.)
(9) Derrel: Fortitude save: [1d20+12] -> [8,12] = (20)
(5) Kaylin: (hahahahahaha)
(5) Kaylin: (now I'm so glad I'm not a kobold)
(1) GM: (this one is only DC 5 - and you DON'T want to roll a 1)
(5) Kaylin: {So, are we actually going to work or are we going to bust outta here?}
(8) Kibin: (why not?)
(5) Kaylin: (in more appropriate language)
(1) GM: After several exhausting hours of mining....
(1) GM: Stability check: [1d100] -> [14] = (14)
(1) GM: You hear someone singing in the background....
(1) GM: Miner: Some people say a man is made outta mud
(1) GM: Miner: A poor man's made outta muscle and blood
(1) GM: Miner: Muscle and blood and skin and bones
(1) GM: Miner: A mind that's a-weak and a back that's strong....
(1) GM: Miner: You load sixteen tons, what do you get?
(1) GM: Miner: Another day older and deeper in debt
(1) GM: Miner: Saint Peter why'd you call me when I can't go
(1) GM: Miner: I owe my soul to the company store ...
(1) GM: Miner: I was born one mornin' when the sun didn't shine
(1) GM: Miner: I picked up my shovel and I walked to the mine
(1) GM: Miner: I loaded sixteen tons of adamine ore
(1) GM: Miner: And the straw boss said "Well, look what for" ....
(1) GM: Miner: You load sixteen tons, what do you get?
(1) GM: Miner: Another day older and deeper in debt
(1) GM: Miner: Saint Peter why'd you call me when I can't go
(1) GM: Miner: I owe my soul to the company store .......
(1) GM: (Sorry Merle Travis!)
(1) GM: Oh, and by the way, unless you are immune to a sonic necromantic mind-affecting fear effect - will saves, everyone. DC 19
(5) Kaylin: (noooo)
(10) Elorin: Will save: [1d20+21] -> [5,21] = (26)
(5) Kaylin: Will save: [1d20+17] -> [15,17] = (32)
(9) Derrel: (Derrel is immune to all fear!)
(5) Kaylin: (owned)
** (8) Kibin sobs.() **
(5) Kaylin: (ouchie Kibin)
(8) Kibin: [1d20+9] -> [10,9] = (19)
(8) Kibin: (phew.)
(5) Kaylin: {Well, that song was about man. We're not human...}
(8) Kibin: (i'm hardly even humanoid.)
(1) GM: Most the miners simply scatter.... in a panic.
(10) Elorin: (is the supervising sufficiently intermittent that we can have unsupervised conversations with the miners?)
(1) GM: The stylized miners, though, just take more notes.
** (8) Kibin blinks, looking around. **
(5) Kaylin: {I'd really love to hit some of those pompous buffoons with a few spells...}
** (9) Derrel wonders what all the fuss is about. **
(1) GM: A few of the stylized miners head off to round up the miners.
(5) Kaylin: (what's the point of scaring your miners?)
(1) GM: There's still plenty around, though.
(1) GM: (read the lyrics carefully, and you might get an idea on what caused it)
(5) Kaylin: (/me just sang the lyrics..)
(9) Derrel: (Soul-stealing demons?)
** (9) Derrel tries Detect Evil **
(10) Elorin: (Derrel falls over in shock, blinded :P)
whispering to Derrel, the stylized miners all give off medium auras......
(8) Kibin: (do i make a miner profession check?)
(9) Derrel: (Just a small one)
(1) GM: Now then - everyone - make either Profession(Miner) or a strength check; Kibin, you're at -2 for using an improperly sized pick, but get a +2 racial bonus, so it balances out.
(9) Derrel: Str check: [1d20+2] -> [2,2] = (4)
(8) Kibin: [1d20+1] -> [1,1] = (2)
(8) Kibin: (DANG IT!)
(9) Derrel: (Bad rolls)
(5) Kaylin: Str check: [1d20-1] -> [6,-1] = (5)
(10) Elorin: Str check: [1d20+2] -> [3,2] = (5)
(8) Kibin: (how aobut i just take 10?)
(5) Kaylin: (wow. better than Derrel...)
(10) Elorin: (wow, NONE of us got above 5)
(5) Kaylin: (we're crappy miners...)
(1) GM: (mines not a place where you can take 10)
(1) GM: (not exactly safe)
(8) Kibin: (i wouldn't be so crappy if i didn't get a freaking 1)
(8) Kibin: (let me guess. cavein? :P)
(1) GM: (You didn't get that range today)
(5) Kaylin: (only on you, hopefully.. :D)
(1) GM: Also, make a fort save, everyone; +4 if you have Endurance.
(8) Kibin: (bah. i don't care :P)
(10) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+15] -> [20,15] = (35)
(9) Derrel: Fortitude save: [1d20+12] -> [13,12] = (25)
(8) Kibin: (i REALLY hate the GM.)
(5) Kaylin: Fortitude save: [1d20+9] -> [12,9] = (21)
(8) Kibin: [1d20+10] -> [12,10] = (22)
(5) Kaylin: (don't we all?)
(8) Kibin: (all these checks, bad rolls)
(5) Kaylin: (*cough*
(5) Kaylin: (well, Elorin got a natural 20...)
(8) Kibin: (ah well. it will be worth it.)
(1) GM: Wow; everyone passed the DC 20 check - you are all now fatigued rather than exhausted.
(8) Kibin: (hey. don't i get to work longer because of my dragon abilities?)
(1) GM: At the end of 16 grueling hours......
(10) Elorin: (what, my nat. 20 plus 15 didn't avoid the fatigue too?)
(1) GM: The stylized miners suddenly and simultaneously tell everyone it's time to pack up for the day.
(1) GM: Then start shuffling people out of the mine.
(1) GM: (nope, sorry, still merely a successful save)
(5) Kaylin: (those stylized miners sound like a spellcraft check to me...)
(5) Kaylin: (can't remember if there's a Create Annoying Clone spell)
** (9) Derrel heads out of the mine **
whispering to Kaylin, Knoweledge check; this isn't a spell effect
whispering to Kaylin, The Planes
whispering to Kaylin, DC 25
(5) Kaylin: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+14] -> [18,14] = (32)
(5) Kaylin: (ownage.)
(8) Kibin: (that's ownage all right. yay!)
(8) Kibin: (we can get on with the plot already! and not stick around being bored out of our minds as we make save after save)
whispering to Kaylin, Hey, you had about a 50/50 chance - They don't have souls anymore. They sold them, and imps took over, now obeying the one who arranged the possesion for them.
(5) Kaylin (whispering): I KNEW there'd be a soul-owing thing....
(1) GM: The straw boss leads you back to the store, where all the miners hand the equipment back....
(5) Kaylin (whispering): you hinted at this, didn't you? Awesome session, I love this song-based thing :)
** (9) Derrel hands the pick and hat back **
** (8) Kibin asks the miner at the store, "Do you have a smaller pick for me to use tomorrow?" **
** (5) Kaylin hands the stuff back **
** (10) Elorin hands the equipment back **
(1) GM: Store Clerk: No, we mass-produce them. Most our miners are the same size.
(1) GM: The clerk takes the equipment back, and the straw boss hands out slips of paper to everyone.
(5) Kaylin: (explosive runes?)
** (10) Elorin examines his slip of paper **
** (8) Kibin is afraid to look at how much he earned today, minus expenses. **
(1) GM: What languages do each of you know?
(10) Elorin: (Common, Elven)
** (9) Derrel looks at it. **
(8) Kibin: (undercommon, common, draconic)
(9) Derrel: (Common)
whispering to Elorin, you don't recognize it.
(5) Kaylin: (draconic, gnomish, gnollish, goblin, sylvan, common, elven)
whispering to Elorin, you don't recognize the writing
whispering to Derrel, you don't recognize the writing
(8) Kibin: (draconic is my native language, though)
whispering to Kibin, you don't recognize the writing
(5) Kaylin: (int for the win)
whispering to Kaylin, you don't recognize the writing
(8) Kibin: (haha. derrel sucks.)
(5) Kaylin: {What writing is this?
** (8) Kibin asks, "What language is this in?" **
(5) Kaylin: (er, not in elvish.)
(9) Derrel: (That's getting rather annoying)
** (10) Elorin looks surprised **
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: Oh, it's just our native script. What do you need to know?
(10) Elorin: You don't recognize it?
(9) Derrel: What number is written on it?
(5) Kaylin (whispering): That'd by Abyssal or something, right? or do I not know IC?
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: Several; it's a listing of how much you earned, and your expenses for the day. Which reminds me; are you ready to settle accounts?
whispering to Kaylin, Infernal, actually, and yes, you have put it together in character
(9) Derrel: 'I thought the accounts were settled automatically?'
(10) Elorin: So, how much did we earn and how much are our fees?
(8) Kibin: Settle accounts?
(8) Kibin: (the GM just had to write it in a language none of us knew. bah.)
(5) Kaylin (whispering): Another Knowledge check? I know they're imps, after all...
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: Well, if you have more earnings than fees, we have some gold to give you, if not, we either need to come to a credit arrangement, or get the fees paid.
(1) GM: Shop keeper: Who's first?
(5) Kaylin: At 1000 gp a day, how much are these fees?
(1) GM: Shop keeper: Well... it's not precisely a thousand a day; it's based on how much ore you were able to bring up. Most miners can manage a thousand a day.
(5) Kaylin: I see.
** (8) Kibin looks around to see who else is here. **
(1) GM: (e.g., the average roll of 10.....)
(5) Kaylin: {prick}
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: It's all well within the laws of the area. So who's first?
** (8) Kibin looks around to see who else is here. **
(9) Derrel: 'Me, I guess.'
(5) Kaylin: (I wonder if these are lawful Laws)
(8) Kibin: (lawful just means to have honor.)
(1) GM: The scruffy miners are all systemically handing the slips of paper to other shop keepers, getting nods, and going back to the barracks. They seem quite sad and depressed.
(9) Derrel: (It can also mean to follow laws)
(5) Kaylin: (even if bad laws?)
(8) Kibin: (bad laws you aren't obligated to follow)
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: Well, let's see... Derrel, is it? You brought up... 400 worth in ore, and... hmm.... I'm sorry, even with the pro-ration, you're 100 short. Would you care to sign the standard credit arrangement?
(9) Derrel: (That's the meaning of the words 'alignment conflict')
(9) Derrel: 'Can I look it over, first?'
(1) GM: The shop keeper pulls out a large parchment and a pen, and sets them on the table for Derrel.
** (8) Kibin asks, "So rooming and that cardboard paste you call food was 500 GP?" **
** (9) Derrel reads it **
(9) Derrel: (Tries detect evil on the parchment)
(1) GM: Do you touch it?
(9) Derrel: (Nope)
whispering to Derrel, Oh yes, it's quite evil
(1) GM: It's in the same language as the other pieces of paper.
(9) Derrel: 'I'm afraid I can't sign anything that I can't read.'
** (8) Kibin adds, "And the renting of the tools... But I could buy a pick and a torch for cheap." **
(1) GM: Shop keeper: Then I suppose you will have to pay us to cover them. 100 gp, please.
(5) Kaylin: (we're making a scene first day... something tells me we should never negotiate for peace...)
** (9) Derrel hands it over from the bag **
(9) Derrel: 'Well, fortunatly, I have some gold saved...'
(8) Kibin: (oh, i'm considering blasting everyone...)
(5) Kaylin: (pretend like you're hauling it out a wallet.)
(1) GM: The shopkeeper nods, then says "Who's next?"
(1) GM: After taking the gold, of course.
(10) Elorin: Me
(5) Kaylin: (We're going to need a little conference back at the barracks..)
(9) Derrel: 'I would reccommend not signing the contract.'
** (9) Derrel heads back to the barracks **
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: Well, let's see... Elorin, is it? You brought up... 500 worth in ore, and... hmm.... I'm sorry, even with the pro-ration, you're 100 short. Would you care to sign the standard credit arrangement?
(5) Kaylin: Waiit...
(9) Derrel: (That's a Paladins' professional reccomendation)
(5) Kaylin: he brought up 100 more in ore than Derrel and yet owes the same amount?
(10) Elorin: Wait a minute. I brought up 100 gp more than Derrel did, but I'm short the same amount?
(8) Kibin: Okay, something isn't right here. Elorin has to pay 100 more GP?
(9) Derrel: (Of course, if anyone should start something, Derrel wouldn't see it)
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: Less able miners get a discount on their expenses; we aren't hartless, after all. We do, however, have the prices we have, and the formulas we use.
(5) Kaylin: (My int score is probably 3 times his...)
** (8) Kibin asks, "What exactly does that 600 gold pieces cover?" **
** (9) Derrel scans the area with Detect Evil while he heads for the barracks **
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: The assorted expenses incurred. Food, lodging, equipment, and the like.
(8) Kibin: Could you run them down for me, gold piece by gold piece?
(10) Elorin: Yes, how exactly is that 600 in expenses divided up
(10) Elorin: I want the full breakdown
whispering to Derrel, the scruffy miners aren't evil themselves, although a faint aura follows each and every one, but all the stylized ones show up as moderately evil.
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: I'm sorry, it's against company policy.
(10) Elorin: Is it written on the slip of paper?
(9) Derrel (whispering): Anything else? Buildings, manor...
(9) Derrel: (Need to BRB)
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: No, that's just a summery statement.
** (8) Kibin says, "With expensive prices, it would be about 50 gold for the lodging, 10 gold for the food, about 100 gold for the equipment..." **
whispering to Derrel, Stone is too thick for you to penetrate, but the only things that seem evil is the stuff mentioned earlier.
(10) Elorin: I'd think even that would be exhorbitant
(8) Kibin: Sounds to me like I could make a lot more money just bringing the stuff to you.
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: I'm sorry, you aren't one of our standard suppliers, and most is manufactured on location.
(1) GM: Shop keeper: Who's next?
** (8) Kibin stays quiet for now, letting everyone else turn in their slips. **
(5) Kaylin: {Just pay up, we'll get the money back...}
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: Oh, and are you going to settle, or signt the standard agreement?
** (5) Kaylin gets out 100 gp **
(5) Kaylin: I'll go next.
(10) Elorin: This job seems a lot less attractive now than when I signed up. What's the company policy for if I want to quit?
(10) Elorin: I'll pay
** (10) Elorin hands over 100 gp **
(1) GM: The shopkeeper takes the gold.
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: Then you become a tresspasser, and are treated accordingly. We will permit you to walk away, however.
** (8) Kibin lets Kaylin go next. **
(5) Kaylin: "Not heartless"? it's miles of desert..
(10) Elorin: So I can quit if I want to but I have to get out of the desert immediately on my own resources?
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: Well, let's see... Kaylin, is it? You brought up... 500 worth in ore, and... hmm.... I'm sorry, even with the pro-ration, you're 100 short. Would you care to sign the standard credit arrangement?
(5) Kaylin: I shall sign nothing I cannot read.
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: That's the way it works. We can hardly afford to spend good money on those who won't work for us.
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: Then you have the 100 gp?
(8) Kibin: And out of the kindness of your hearts... you arrange free transportation here. How nice.
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: Of course! We can't have anyone succumbing to the heat on the way in.
** (5) Kaylin pays up **
(9) Derrel: (Someone can pay for her)
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: Ah, good. And that leaves... Kibin, I believe?
(10) Elorin: (You're still in the slave outfit, someone should pay for you)
** (8) Kibin takes out his slip of paper and places it in front of the shopkeeper." **
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: Well, let's see... Kibin, is it? You brought up... 200 worth in ore, and... hmm.... I'm sorry, even with the pro-ration, you're 300 short. Would you care to sign the standard credit arrangement?
** (8) Kibin hmms. At least they're not just mindless robots saying the same thing over and over... "Any alternatives?" **
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: Well, you could pay up. Or you could run. But then we would have to call the collections agency.
(8) Kibin: You could just take them out of my pay tomorrow.
(10) Elorin: The collections agency?
(5) Kaylin: Collections agency?
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: Yes, but that, unfortunately, requires the standard credit arrangement.
(1) GM: Shop Keeper: Yes, the people we have who track down and settle with those who run off on their debts.
(9) Derrel: (Take it out of the bag?)
** (8) Kibin growls at the shop keeper. He takes out 30 platnium pieces from the money pouch under his shirt, places the money down, and walks off. **
(1) GM: The shop keeper takes the money.
(1) GM: It's after dark. Where to?
(8) Kibin: (barracks. to have a little chat...)
(5) Kaylin: Barracks...
(1) GM: At the barracks, the inkeeper says "So, how was your first day? Everything went well, I hope?"
** (10) Elorin grumbles quitely on the way back to the barracks {If only I knew Comprehend Languages, I could have read those things} **
** (8) Kibin walks by the innkeeper without talking. **
(5) Kaylin: {Not sure what language those were, but those were imps controlling those people.}
(5) Kaylin: (in draconic) Those were imps controlling the people.
(1) GM: One of the scruffy miners gets up from a sound sleep.
(5) Kaylin: Went ... moderately tiring...
(10) Elorin: (was that first statement in elven or draconic?)
** (8) Kibin replies, in draconic, "Ah. I guess we have enough reasoning to blast through this place?" **
(1) GM: (In Draconic): Ah, is that what's up? I knew something wasn't right.
(5) Kaylin: (draconic) You speak? O.O
** (8) Kibin blinks, and looks at that miner. He asks, in draconic, "Jason?" **
(1) GM: Miner (still in Draconic): Yep. Got bored, took the carriage out into the desert last night, and buried it. Don't worry, it's nearby, and I can get to it easily enough. Followed the road in.
(10) Elorin: (with all the draconic conversing going on, can I cast Tongues surreptitiously?)
(5) Kaylin: {Huh, the miner is Jason.}
(1) GM: (do you have the Silent spell feat?)
** (9) Derrel looks confused **
** (8) Kibin smiles at Derrel. **
(1) GM: Miner (Common): Don't worry Derrel, I'm just borrowing this guy while he sleeps.
(1) GM: Miner (Elvin): So how much of the conversation have you two missed?
(5) Kaylin: (how many languages does Jason speak?)
** (8) Kibin says again, in draconic, "Can we all speak in a language all of us can understand?" **
(8) Kibin: (where's a cleric when you need one...)
(5) Kaylin: (what do we all know besides common?)
(8) Kibin: (pig latin)
(1) GM: Miner: (Draconic): Other than Common, what do we all Know? I have Elven and Draconic available.
(10) Elorin: (If I can cast Tongues without the guards noticing, everything)
(1) GM: Miner: (Elven): Other than Common, what do we all Know? I have Elven and Draconic available.
(9) Derrel: 'I just wish I had taken the time to learn another language.'
** (8) Kibin glances, to see how far away the guard is. **
(1) GM: Miner: (common): Other than Common, what do we all Know? I have Elven and Draconic available.
(5) Kaylin: {Gnomish, Gnollish, Goblin, Sylvan.. Draconic, Common, Elven..}
(10) Elorin: {Common and Elven}
(9) Derrel: (If you're going to contemplate something unlawfull...
** (9) Derrel goes back to sleep. **
(1) GM: The inkeeper you can see is still standing next to the entrance to the large barracks.
(5) Kaylin: {Derrel only knows common... hahaha}
(8) Kibin: (that's away from us, right?)
(1) GM: (the one you can see, yes)
(5) Kaylin: {Hey, Jason, can you see if tehre's anyone invisible around?}
(1) GM: Jason (draconic, then repeated in elven): Sure....
(1) GM: See Invisibility, Level 2: Personal; can see invisible and etherial things for 10 minutes/level
(1) GM: Metamagiced for Silent
** (8) Kibin says again in draconic, "I really wish I could go back to my dragon form, then I could know if there's anyone nearby." **
(8) Kibin: (why does jason have to be silent? just go etheral)
(1) GM: Jason (draconic, then repeated in elven): Ah joy. That's how they do it. Figures.
(5) Kaylin: {What did you see?}
(1) GM: (He's currently possessing someone for the conversation; doesn't want to have to try twice... and hey, he's got the feats and the spell slots)
(8) Kibin: (anyway, i'm wondering something. how exactly does the dragon's blindsense work?)
(9) Derrel: (He knows where the blind people are)
(5) Kaylin: (haha)
(8) Kibin: (that's not blindsense x.x i'm wondering if it's smell, hearing, or what)
(1) GM: Jason (draconic, then repeated in elven): Oh... they space themselves pretty well... there are lots of those stylized miners, invisible, in various places around the room. We could probably take them down..... but several are near the door.
(1) GM: (It's an odd combination of all three, plus touch, that gives you a general idea of what's nearby, even when you can't see.)
(8) Kibin: Draconic: So, we just free these people, killing all the imps?
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): I'm not sure if that would work.... there seems to be something following most of them. Doesn't seem corporeal.
(1) GM: A bad deal, maybe?
(5) Kaylin: (can I make a knowledge check for this sorta thing?)
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): a bad deal, maybe?
(8) Kibin: Draconic: I hate this place...
(9) Derrel: (You could pay off their debts, then kill the imps)
(8) Kibin: draconic: I wonder if they're in good health...
(1) GM: Sure. Knoweledge (the planes)
(8) Kibin: (okay. how are we going to pay off their debts?)
(5) Kaylin: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+14] -> [11,14] = (25)
(5) Kaylin: (bah)
(1) GM: Most of the scruffy miners look like they have been through the ringer - their skin has various degrees of mottled on them.
(8) Kibin: (ringer?)
(5) Kaylin: (wringer)
(8) Kibin: (i don't understand)
(5) Kaylin: (it's a squeezing thing, iirc)
(9) Derrel: (Gold)
(5) Kaylin: (Knowledge: History :D)
whispering to Kaylin, Soul as collateral; a really bad deal, as they ultimately don't get anything out of it. You need to arrange to have the contracts voided, by the person who holds title.
(8) Kibin: (be quiet and let the GM clarify things)
(5) Kaylin: (draconic) Well, if we're going to free their souls, we need to have the contracts voided by the person who holds the title. Probably the baron.
(8) Kibin: (what do you mean, 'ringer'?
(1) GM: (Ay kant spel; Wringer is the correct spelling, I think - and the phrase basically refers to someone who has been sorely treated, in one way or another)
(1) GM: (in this case, it's a combination of adamantium poisioning and constant exhastion and hard labor)
** (8) Kibin asks, in draconic, "Who feels like quitting?" **
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): Me. But first, perhaps you we could arrange an audience with the baron - he seems to be after some ... "entertainment"
(10) Elorin: (is someone translating the draconic for me?)
(1) GM: Jason, sensing a problem, starts translating for Elorin.
(8) Kibin: Draconic: So... Arrange an audience with the baron?
(5) Kaylin: (Draconic, then elven) Well.. if it's entertainment... I suppose I could sacrifice for the cause...
(8) Kibin: Draconic: I probally can't pay for another bad mining run...
(10) Elorin: {"their" souls? The miners or the imps?}
(5) Kaylin: (elven, then draconic) but even if this is merely physically degrading, I'd still like to kill him for it.
(5) Kaylin: {the miner's souls}
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): Yes, I overheard one of the recruiters talking to a few women that went by. Not something to repeat, but the gist of it is that the baron likes the company of the ladies.
(8) Kibin: Draconic: We should probally rest.
** (8) Kibin hopes noone remembers about his polymorphing ability... **
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): It would probably be easier if we approached with two, three, or even four ladies for dancing.
(5) Kaylin: (elven, then draconic) Let's get kibin to become attractive.
(1) GM: (doesn't matter if anyone remembers your ability - Kaylin can do Polymorph too.....)
** (8) Kibin sighs. **
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Can I at least keep these items for free?
(5) Kaylin: (brb, grabbing a bite to eat)
(10) Elorin: {what items?}
(5) Kaylin: {he doesn't understand Elven, the poor fool}
(1) GM: (I suspect he's reffering to most the treasure from the Blue Dragon)
(1) GM: Jason begins translating elven-> draconic, too, but puts a more pleasant spin on things.
(8) Kibin: (hmmm?)
(1) GM: (skips when Kaylin calls Kibin a "poor fool" for example)
(8) Kibin: (i'm talking about the items i have on right now.)
** (8) Kibin stares suspiciously at Kaylin. **
(8) Kibin: Draconic: And where, exactly, would I change?
(1) GM: Jason: Oh... I can arrange a place for you to be out of sight. Might look a little odd, though.
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Odd, how?
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): and they seem to keep track of who goes in and out of the mines.
(10) Elorin: (OOC I wonder what all the imps are thinking of this. "Except when otherwise noted, devils speak Infernal, Celestial, and Draconic"...)
(5) Kaylin: (uhoh)
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): Well, it's a little odd when a colored wall shows up in the middle of the mine....
(8) Kibin: (we'll... ignore that for now. :P)
** (1) GM grins evilly **
(8) Kibin: Draconic: I do not want to go in the mines again...
(9) Derrel: (Well, hey, if the imps attack the party, Derrel can attack back)
(8) Kibin: (please?)
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): Well, then we will have to do so earlier. I can arrange for such a privacy screen, pretty much anywhere; it looks the least suspicious in the dust of the mines, though.
(5) Kaylin: (evil gm)
(8) Kibin: Draconic: And clothing?
(8) Kibin: Draconic: I doubt a female kobold would look good to the baron...
(5) Kaylin: (draconic) you can borrow my fur coat...
(5) Kaylin: (draconic) I doubt much else will be necessary, given his apparent intentions...
** (8) Kibin mumbles, in draconic, "Yeah, I'd be vibrant and noticable..." **
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): Oh, I'm sure you could fit yourself into something in Kaylin's sack. And even if you can't do either human or elvin yourself, I'm sure Kaylin has a Polymorph available.
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): Although that's probably better saved for Derrel and Elorin.
(5) Kaylin: (hey, I'm the exotic babe.)
(8) Kibin: Draconic: I can be anything I want to be...
(8) Kibin: Draconic: If it isn't too large, and is humanoid or an animal.
(5) Kaylin: (draconic) Be a human.
(5) Kaylin: (draconic) he may not like elves... though why anyone wouldn't is a mystery to me.
(9) Derrel: (Derrel couldn't be involved in something unlawfull, like attacking the baron)
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Okay, clothing? I doubt that just a fur coat would be good...
(5) Kaylin: (well, that's OK, I don't want to see Derrel as a girl)
(9) Derrel: (If, however, the baron attacked first (As far as Derrel knows))
(5) Kaylin: (see above, Kibs)
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Ah yes, I keep forgetting the woman with a wardrobe in her bag of holding.
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Any way to change without going into the mines?
(8) Kibin: (hehe. this is going to be interesting...)
(8) Kibin: (i hope derrel doesn't wake up. hehe.)
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): I can put the screen up pretty much anywhere, and mostly make it blend in. Tell you what - I'll follow you around for a while, and when you find an appropriet location - not too many people watching, that is - I'll put up the screen for you.
(5) Kaylin: (yeah o.O)
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Now? Everyone is asleep...
(8) Kibin: Draconic: How long does it last, anyway.
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): Except those stylized miners. Who watch.
(5) Kaylin: (ack, I gotta run for 15-30 minutes... NPC me, I'll do whatever you need (within complain limits), grocery run)
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Okay... and where won't we be watched?
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): The privacy screen? Several hours. It stays in one place, though, and is dismissable.
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): A good point. Hmm... Imps, you said? I wonder what orders they follow... some things might be considered not worth reporting.... or not on the list of things to report....
(8) Kibin: (i want to wait till kaylin comes back before we do it :P)
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Do it someplace else first to test?
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): Dpm
(1) GM: tMiner (draconic, then repeated in elven): Don't want to attract too much attention; don't worry, it's quite opaque.
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): And it's not something I can do particularly often.
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Okay...
(8) Kibin: Draconic: How are you going to explain the appearance of a beautiful woman in here?
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): I'm pretty good at bluffing people.
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): For example, did you know that you've recently grown blue hair?
(1) GM: Bluff Skill Check: [1d20+23] -> [18,23] = (41)
(8) Kibin: Draconic: No, I haven't grown blue hair...
(1) GM: (what's your sense motive roll? +10 for utter rediculousness)
(9) Derrel: (With a bluff check like that, that's not what you think)
(8) Kibin: (lol.)
(8) Kibin: (more like +20)
(8) Kibin: [1d20+21] -> [9,21] = (30)
(8) Kibin: (can we just say i'm reluctant? because that's a really really stupid bluff.)
(9) Derrel: (I'd think you'd beleive it for a round, like 'Your flies open')
(1) GM: (that's where the +10 comes in; but yes, a short time only - just until you check)
** (8) Kibin glances up at his head, and replies in Draconic, "Right..." **
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Okay, make sure that Kaylin is in, she's the more fashion sensible person around...
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): I don't think I'll have too much trouble. Just let me do the talking when the time comes.
(8) Kibin: (i expect you to go all kaylin on me, and dress me up nice.
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): Which reminds me - who should I use for the chat? I doubt they will take kindly to my normal form.
(9) Derrel: (It would come down to Elorin, I'd think. Derrel is out)
(10) Elorin: I don't think it should be either of the pretty girls we intend to present
(10) Elorin: So Derrel or me.
(8) Kibin: (that's elven. we're just too lazy to say it any more :P)
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): And Derrel probably isn't up for deceptions.
(10) Elorin: Unless you really want to hijack a random miner for this
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Everyone ready? I guess I am...
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): Well... he wasn't using his body... and he actually is still sleeping; quite tired, he is.
(8) Kibin: (i guess i've been around humans long enough to know what a pretty woman would look like)
(10) Elorin: (just duplicate Kaylin :P)
(1) GM: (or you just copy Kaylin or something)
(10) Elorin: (we can present a pair of identical twins)
(8) Kibin: (heck no. i can do better!)
(1) GM: (thinking the countess?)
(8) Kibin: (maybe countess with some modifications... :)
(8) Kibin: (quick! think of the most beautiful woman, ever!)
(1) GM: (don't want to be rolling fort saves for your back, or balance checks to stay upright?)
(8) Kibin: (hmmm?)
(1) GM: (large counterweights on the countess....)
(8) Kibin: (lol...)
(8) Kibin: (i'm thinking black hair.)
(1) GM: (well, your choice of forms, so up to you to describe when the time comes)
(5) Kaylin: (back early and I already have black hair)
(8) Kibin: (black hair is cool :P)
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Okay, now what exactly should my form be?
(1) GM: (not in the desert; all that black absorbing the sunshine....)
(5) Kaylin: (draconic) female
(8) Kibin: draconic: Duh. I mean, physical attributes.
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Well, what the physical attributes are.
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): Oh, just copy Kaylin. Mabye round the ears a bit.
(8) Kibin: Draconic Eh, no.
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Needs to be something that isn't an obvious copy.
(5) Kaylin: (draconic) Something wrong with me?
(10) Elorin: Either go for the identical twins approach or do something like that fake countess
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Ooo, countess might be good...
(8) Kibin: (can you give me a description of the countess to modify? :)
(1) GM: (Nope :P)
(8) Kibin: (no?)
(1) GM: (well, the description I have on hand is the same one from the quest earlier, where she was descibed - and I doubt you really want to filter out all the surrounding stuff)
(8) Kibin: (okay, i'm thinking a slender beautiful woman, with long blonde hair.)
(8) Kibin: (blonde is less threatening :D)
(8) Kibin: (anyone want to add to it?)
(1) GM: (Oh, that's fine)
** (8) Kibin cannot believe he is going through with this... **
(5) Kaylin: (that's good.)
(5) Kaylin: (make the counterweights bigger than mine though....)
(5) Kaylin: (remember, we're trying to seduce him.)
** (8) Kibin says in Draconic, "Ready, I guess, I have a pretty good idea..." **
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Just don't ask me on a date.
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): Don't worry, not interested. So, night trip to the loo?
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Sure. Why not?
(1) GM: Miner (draconic, then repeated in elven): Well, I'll sign off, then, and meet you out there.
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Make sure to bring Kaylin along... And Derrel, if he's going to bluff.
(1) GM: The miner lays back down, and begins snoring slightly.
(5) Kaylin: (draconic) I'd better tidy up...
** (8) Kibin asks the innkeeper, "Mind if I go outside to use the latrine?" **
(1) GM: Inkeeper: Go right ahead!
(9) Derrel: (BRB)
(8) Kibin: (lets say kaylin's coming along too :P)
(1) GM: Inkeeper: Shall I call a guide?
(8) Kibin: :shakes his head. "I can find it."
(9) Derrel: (Derrel can't be involved in an attack on the baron, remember?)
(1) GM: Inkeeper: As you wish.
(8) Kibin: (derrel CAN be used as a puppet, remember?)
(8) Kibin: (especially when he's sleeping. he won't know a thing...)
(9) Derrel: (Yeah, but wouldn't he remember what happened?)
(1) GM: (it's not specifically spelled out anywhere, one way or the other....)
(10) Elorin: (lawful alignment does not necessarily mean blindly obeying all laws, and the Paladin's code does not require obeying unjust laws or allowing a tyrant to remain in power)
** (8) Kibin looks around for the latrine, walking over to it. **
** (8) Kibin hopes Jason is ready... and Kaylin. Kaylin has fashion sense. **
(1) GM: Jason manifests, and casts a spell... causing a dimly lit glow to surround the area.
(1) GM: Jason: Don't worry; while you can see out, others can't see in. The color should match the sand.
(8) Kibin: What about voice?
(1) GM: Jason: Well... just keep it down to a whisper.
** (8) Kibin says that quietly, and in draconic... **
(9) Derrel: (Hmm, yes, that's a point. Ok, Derrel's fine with killing the baron)
(1) GM: Jason turns around and faces outwards.
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Kaylin probally knows better on how to dress than I do...
(9) Derrel: (As long as someone explains that the contract is for the miners souls)
(5) Kaylin: (draconic) Well, with such limited choice... but.. I guess a fur coat woud be good..
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Very well... Um, could you look away while I undress? Don't want to mess these clothes up...
** (5) Kaylin turns away **
** (5) Kaylin smirks **
** (8) Kibin quickly takes his clothes off, and shapeshifts into a slender, beautiful human female with long blonde hair. **
(5) Kaylin: (blondes aren't my type ;/)
(8) Kibin: (fine. black hair.)
(5) Kaylin: (brunette.)
(8) Kibin: (okay, i'm a redhead.)
(9) Derrel: (Crooked business practices don't warrent death, of course. Otherwise, commerce would take a big hit)
(8) Kibin: (a slender beautiful woman with long fiery red hair...)
(9) Derrel: (But grabbing souls would probably come under the 'Kill them' penalty)
(8) Kibin: (elorin is male, right?)
(5) Kaylin: (fine. Redhead works...)
(8) Kibin: (brunette is red hair, i thought?)
(10) Elorin: (yeah, there are too many smugglers etc. to kill them all, but stealing souls is way out there)
(10) Elorin: (yes, Elorin is male)
(10) Elorin: (brunette is brown)
(8) Kibin: (okay then... a light brown.)
(5) Kaylin: (bah.)
(8) Kibin: (happy?)
(5) Kaylin: (I personally favor dark brown. but whatever floats your boat..)
(8) Kibin: (red. okay? red it is.)
** (8) Kibin dresses, then... **
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Fur? In the middle of a desert?
(5) Kaylin: (draconic) We're trying to charm a rich guy. Fur is a good way to do it
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Very well... How do I look?
** (5) Kaylin looks Kibin over **
(5) Kaylin: (draconic) Not bad at all. Let's go...
(8) Kibin: (kinda like the countess, but modified :)
** (8) Kibin looks over to Jason. **
(1) GM: Jason: Great; ready for me to drop the screen?
(10) Elorin: (Also, in a desert, the heat from outside is actually MORE than your own body heat, so blocking that out can keep you cooler even though it's blocking body heat in at the same time)
** (8) Kibin says, "You be a dear and do that, would you?" **
(1) GM: Jason: Sure thing....
(5) Kaylin: (hey keep your paws off Jason)
(1) GM: Jason fades from sight, and as he does, the spell expires.
(5) Kaylin: (he's mine :D)
** (8) Kibin hmms. "What about name..." **
** (8) Kibin says, quietly, "I'll be... Sora?" **
(5) Kaylin: Sora?... whatever
(10) Elorin: (sorry, but not even True Resurrection can bring back someone who's been dead as long as Jason)
(8) Kibin: (wish can. wink, wink.)
** (8) Kibin asks, "You have a better idea?" **
(1) GM: (Wish can't either; it must duplicate other spells, other than for retrieving the body; needs an Epic spell)
(5) Kaylin: Not really, no.
(10) Elorin: ("A wish can bring a dead creature back to life by duplicating a resurrection spell")
(10) Elorin: (Resurrection isn't up to it, so neither is Wish)
(8) Kibin: (okay, OOC name the female kibin contest.)
(5) Kaylin: (kibia)
(8) Kibin: (that sucks)
(1) GM: (Aila)
(5) Kaylin: (tibia?)
(8) Kibin: (alia. that works.)
** (8) Kibin says, "I'll be Aila..." **
** (8) Kibin goes back to the bunker. **
(1) GM: Jason: Aila it is.
(1) GM: Innkeeper: Ah, a new miner! Do come in and take a rest; don't worry about the fee, we'll just deduct it from tomorrow's pay at the mine.
(1) GM: Inkeeper: Unless, of course, a vision such as yourself would rather find work in the Baron's mansion, of course.
** (8) Kibin smiles mischieviously. "I would love that." **
(8) Kibin: (to the mansion!)
(1) GM: Inkeeper: Great; come talk to me in the morning - the Barond doesn't like his sleep disturbed, and I'll call a Guide for you.
(1) GM: (Anything else tonight?)
** (8) Kibin nods, smiling, and lays down. **
(8) Kibin: (someone else could comment on the new me :D)
(10) Elorin: (now if Kibin were as big as the countess when in dragon form, imagine the Baron's surprise when he reverts in the bedchamber :P)
(5) Kaylin: (oh my.)
(9) Derrel: (What big teeth you have)
** (8) Kibin looks over to Elorin, winking to let him know who he is. **
(5) Kaylin: {It's kibin}
(8) Kibin: (she, actually. confusing...)
(5) Kaylin: (in draconic) winking won't help too much...
(1) GM: (Ouch, how heavy you are on top of me... that thirty or so tons is just crushing!)
** (10) Elorin nods back at Kibin and starts his nightly elven meditation **
(8) Kibin: (o.O)
(8) Kibin: (in the morning...)
** (5) Kaylin meditates and tries to look sexy while doing it (not hard in a slave-girl outfit..) **
(10) Elorin: (next morning...)
(1) GM: The next morning, the sun comes up, the straw boss comes in an repeats exactly the same words to everyone, this time skipping the "new miner" routine.
(8) Kibin: (things have gotten weird.)
(1) GM: The miners, still fatigued from the previous day's work, file out.
(8) Kibin: (huh. the times are such that they are always tired...)
(9) Derrel: (And I suppose Derrel files out with them?)
(8) Kibin: (9 hours of rest to remove exausted.)
(1) GM: (up to him; might want to stick around and chat with everyone who isn't filing out, like, you know, the new girl and the rest of the party, maybe ask where Kibin went)
(8) Kibin: (boy, derrel is going to get a shock...)
** (10) Elorin briefly explains that the standard contract seems to involves the miners' souls in a whisper to Derrel **
(8) Kibin: (not going to explain me? aw.)
(10) Elorin: (you were there and actually understood the conversation when we discussed it the first time)
(8) Kibin: (he didn't :P)
(8) Kibin: (he was sound asleep...)
(1) GM: (I think he's referring to explaining Kibin's appearance to Derrel)
** (8) Kibin wonders if he has his guardian ghost today. **
** (9) Derrel gives Elorin approval for 'Whatever plan you guys cooked up'. **
** (8) Kibin waves to Derrel. **
** (9) Derrel waves back and looks confused) **
(10) Elorin: That's Kibin, by the way. (quietly)
** (9) Derrel looks less confused. **
(9) Derrel: Int check: [1d20-1] -> [4,-1] = (3)
(9) Derrel: (But only a little)
(5) Kaylin: (hahahahaha)
(8) Kibin: (duh, i'm dumb.)
(5) Kaylin: (oh man, that's funny.)
(8) Kibin: (i'm imagining derrel as patrick right now. lol)
** (8) Kibin goes to the innkeeper, then. **
(1) GM: Inkeeper: Ah, the lovely lady from last night! Shall I call you a Guide to the Baron's?
** (8) Kibin nods, smiling. **
(10) Elorin: Call one for Kaylin over here, too.
(5) Kaylin: May I go with her? I have seen a better path.
(1) GM: Inkeeper: Of course! Perhaps even your owners, for the haggling.
(1) GM: A stylized miner walks in from just outside the door.
(1) GM: Guide: This way, please.
(5) Kaylin: {owners?}
** (8) Kibin follows the Guide, innocently. **
(9) Derrel: (That would be the party - Who, I guess, move to follow)
** (9) Derrel follows innocently. **
(10) Elorin: {you're pretending to be our slave, remember? Isn't that why you donned that outfit?)
(1) GM: (Lawful Evil - likely to induce the thought that slavery is a proper thing.)
(5) Kaylin: {oh yeah}
(1) GM: The mannor seems quite opulent... what you can see of it, anyway; the outer wall is sandstone, like most the buildings in the area, but the gate itself is more of a portcullis, crafted of adamantium. Unsurprisingly familiar guards in stylized miner's outfits stand near the gate and greets you.
(1) GM: The guards nod at the Guide, and let you pass without incident.
(1) GM: Once past the gate, things just get spooky. There are lots of the stylized miners here... and many of them are fully identicle. In every detail. Not even minor variances, like elsewhere. They mostly simply seem to be standing there, picks at the ready, lining the walls, waiting for orders. A few have grass growing up and tangling their feet....
(1) GM: The manor is nice enough; solid walls, a decent courtyard, stables for horses, what looks to be a few storage buildings. The Manor itself is about twenty feet tall, with stone walls, glass windows, a stout wooden door, bound with adamantium, and a solid roof.
** (8) Kibin greets the guards back. **
(9) Derrel: (Greets us multiple times?)
(1) GM: The guide opens the door, and leads you inside.
(1) GM: Inside the manor things are rather luxiourious; save for the mosaic tile floor, every surface is covered with silk. Couches, cushionns, and divans line the walls; the central area seems to be a dance floor, where a vieled woman gyrates to some music from the background.
(1) GM: The music seems a little off; the performance is flawless, and yet... something important is simply missing. Likewise, the dancer seems a little unfinished; the moves match the tempo perfectly, and everything seems to be in it's proper place... but something undefineable simply isn't there.
** (9) Derrel uses detect evil **
(5) Kaylin: {silk!}
(5) Kaylin: (I'll bet it's because the performers are emotionless...)
whispering to Derrel, Every living being, other than the party members, register. Stuff doesn't, though.
(5) Kaylin: (ever seen a bored orchestra play? it's awful)
** (8) Kibin looks around. Ooo, silk! (S)he feels the silk lining one of the walls before going on. **
(1) GM: Someone dressed in silk (not a Stylized Miner!) looks away from the dance as you come in.
(1) GM: Silk Dude: Ah, more pretties? Wonderful! How much? I simply must have them.
(8) Kibin: (we are dorks. we are roleplaying, inside a roleplaying game.)
(5) Kaylin: {bastard}
(5) Kaylin: (er, those were ())
(10) Elorin: You're the Baron?
(1) GM: Baron: That too, yes. I own the mine, and the entire desert.
(1) GM: Baron: Well, at least everything within a hundred miles of this facility.
** (8) Kibin smiles at the Baron, replying, "I'm not a slave. I could stay around here a while, though..." **
(1) GM: Baron: Ah, an independant agent! Got tired of mine work?
(1) GM: Baron: You definately qualify for my .... personal staff.
(9) Derrel: 'How did you come to own so much land?'
(9) Derrel: (/me casts Discern Lies)
** (8) Kibin jumps for joy! "Great! When can I start?" **
(1) GM: Baron: Bought it. The previous owner didn't much care, as he didn't know about the adamantium at the time.
whispering to Derrel, no attempt at deception.
(1) GM: Baron: He's a little upset now, but he does abide by the contract.
(9) Derrel: 'There seems to be something a little strange about the music.'
(1) GM: Baron: But it's lovely! The performars are some of the miners who got tired of the mines and settled up with their contracts, then chose to stay on.
(9) Derrel: (Would this be a good point to demand the souls back, pull out weapons and attack?)
** (8) Kibin feels more of the silk. Ooo, silk. **
(1) GM: (up to you, but I have a lot of canned answers....)
(9) Derrel: (Could we break for five minutes?)
(5) Kaylin: (sure, I need something else to eat.0
(1) GM: (Sure, I could use some water myself.)
(10) Elorin: Speaking of contracts, we were wondering yesterday what the terms of the standard contract are. We were rather reluctant to sign something we couldn't read, and the clerk refused to explain it.
(9) Derrel: (Ok, thanks)
(8) Kibin: (man stuff has gotten weird...)
(5) Kaylin: (more fun that way)
(1) GM: Baron: Oh, it's just a basic lein; we extend credit for the miners, using a very useful trade-good as collateral. As long as you continue to work for the company, we extend credit idefinately, with no interest. Once you quit, you need to settle up, either by paying the owning balance or handing over the collateral.
(8) Kibin: (fun?)
(10) Elorin: What's the collateral?
(10) Elorin: (souls?)
** (8) Kibin doesn't think that he should have asked that... **
(10) Elorin: (parens mean OOC)
(8) Kibin: (i know.)
(1) GM: Baron: Oh, just some energies every intelligent being has. Very valuable to some people, who pay me very highly for collecting them.
(10) Elorin: (anyone want to make a knowledge check on that?)
(1) GM: Baron: You can obviously survive without them; many who have settled still work for me, rent free.
(5) Kaylin: (yo)
(8) Kibin: (okay. who needs to make a knowledge check on that?)
(5) Kaylin: ('course, I already know they're souls...)
(5) Kaylin: (by the way, why don't we use [Bad dice format] - [foo] for Draconic conversations like {foo} for Elven ones?)
(10) Elorin: (I don't think spellcraft would get it, and that's the closest I've got)
(5) Kaylin: (oh yeah, dice.)
(8) Kibin: (use
(8) Kibin: (or not.
(8) Kibin: (!)
(5) Kaylin: (tried to earlier... \foo/)
(8) Kibin: (okay peoples. hurry up, so i can be male again.)
(1) GM: (Angle braces are reserved HTML stuff - this is actually a web page you are viewing in the lower window in many, many ways)
(9) Derrel: (BAck)
(1) GM: (Baron's mostly reactive.)
(5) Kaylin: (ah yes, HTML..)
(10) Elorin: (anyway, Knowledge check?)
(1) GM: (It's how I do Bold and Italics and such when I wish.)
(8) Kibin: (i wonder.)
(8) Kibin: (?<
(8) Kibin: (theroretically it's still possible to use em. anyway... ON WITH THE SHOW!
(1) GM: (however, make sure to always balance out your tags, though; otherwise it messes up the log)
(5) Kaylin: (so which Knowledge check?)
(1) GM: (The Planes, of course)
(1) GM: (Religion works too)
(5) Kaylin: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+14] -> [2,14] = (16)
(5) Kaylin: (ouch.)
(8) Kibin: (you can do religion too)
(5) Kaylin: Knowledge: Religion Skill Check: [1d20+12] -> [14,12] = (26)
(5) Kaylin: (much better.)
whispering to Kaylin, you have a pretty good idea that he's reffering to souls and devils.
whispering to Kaylin, a neat trick, selling someone else's soul.....
(5) Kaylin: {Yep, souls and devils.}
(1) GM: Baron: Elven? Can't understand a word of it, but such a lovely language.....
(5) Kaylin: (Can I respond to him?)
(1) GM: (sure)
** (8) Kibin waits patiently for the rest of the people to finish... **
(5) Kaylin: Thank you, it is a most musical language.
(1) GM: Baron: So you are one of the ones willing to hire onto my staff for my personal needs?
** (8) Kibin nods towards the Baron, with a smile. **
(5) Kaylin: {Elorin, I'm your slave.. you'd better sell me or something}
(9) Derrel: (Lets just get to the fighting)
** (10) Elorin is debating whether to accuse him of trafficking in souls right now, or to try to get to a more private place first) **
(1) GM: Baron: How are you at horizontal dancing?
(9) Derrel: (Why bother? We have all we came for)
(1) GM: (Ah, the lack of knowing the whispered elvish....)
(9) Derrel: (Besides, I wouldn't sign whatever contract he handed out, if I were you)
** (8) Kibin says, "I can do a few tricks with my hands, want to see?" **
(5) Kaylin: (no)
(5) Kaylin: (:D)
(10) Elorin: (don't know what reinforcements and protections he might have right here)
(9) Derrel: (Turn into a dragon and turn him into shreds?)
(8) Kibin: (shhh. that's later.)
(1) GM: Baron: Magic? I know a few spells myself....
** (8) Kibin asks, "Got a copper piece?" **
(5) Kaylin: (....)
(1) GM: Baron: Sadly, no, I don't carry coinage in my own household.
(1) GM: Baron: However... bookeeper?
(1) GM: A stylized miner appears in view, seemingly from out of nowhere.
(1) GM: Bookeeper: Yes?
(1) GM: Baron
(8) Kibin: Sleight of Hand: [1d20+14] -> [1,14] = (15)
(1) GM: Baron: A copper for the lady.
(8) Kibin: (bah. still should be enough for a simple trick.)
** (8) Kibin takes one of his own platnium pieces, then, and shows it to him. He then turns his hand around, then back, making the platnium piece disappear. **
(8) Kibin: (or... i take the copper piece and do it.)
(1) GM: [1d20-2] -> [9,-2] = (7)
(5) Kaylin: (sleight of hand?)
(1) GM: Bardon: Good show! Hmm.... what spell.....
(8) Kibin: (yup.)
(5) Kaylin: (whoa, is his wisdom modifier -2? O.O)
(1) GM: The baron casts a Detect Magic.....
(1) GM: Baron: Wow! You sure are a charged lot....
** (8) Kibin hmmms, maybe that wasn't such a good idea... **
(10) Elorin: (...and gets overwhelmed by the MANY auras detected)
(10) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+17] -> [1,17] = (18)
** (8) Kibin thinks otherwise. Huh. **
(5) Kaylin: (I'd do a spellcraft check but I'm lazy)
** (8) Kibin goes with the flow, then. "Yup, I've got a talent for magic." **
(1) GM: Baron: Is that.... transmutation on the lovely?
(1) GM: Baron: A bait and switch?
(5) Kaylin: (is he talking about me or kibs?)
(5) Kaylin: {I think it's fight time}
(10) Elorin: (Kibin, of course. You're not polymorphed)
(1) GM: (Let's see... who's under the effects of a 7th level polymorph variant?)
(5) Kaylin: (I don't quiteunderstand the question)
(8) Kibin: (he's on to us...)
(1) GM: Baron: I really must be assured that whatever spell keeps her lovely simply won't wear off.
** (8) Kibin doesn't like where this is going... **
(5) Kaylin: (So what am I, a piece of liver?)
(8) Kibin: (wait. or.. not. hmmm.)
(9) Derrel: 'About as much as your miners have that they'll make a thousand a day?'
(8) Kibin: (okay, i'll let the GM continue with this. this is very bad, or very good...)
(1) GM: Baron: On average, there salary does work out to a thousand a day, if they work well.
(8) Kibin: (or both...)
(1) GM: Baron: Seriouly, though, what, exactly, have I done wrong?
** (8) Kibin wonders if this Baron is really that clueless, or if he's faking it. **
(5) Kaylin: (ignored me... acted all chauvunistic...)
(5) Kaylin: (just wait 'til the wrath of the femininst is upon you..)
(9) Derrel: 'Quite simply, gotten them to sign contracts that they cannot understand, that take their souls'
(10) Elorin: Gee, I don't know. Maybe it's the fact that you're STEALING SOULS and SELLING THEM TO DEVILS.
** (10) Elorin gets out his bow from his haversack **
** (5) Kaylin backs away a bit **
(1) GM: Big Mine Boss Guy: Bah! I don't steal souls! I only take someone's soul when they freely offer it up to cover their debts. After that, they can either get a ride to the edge of the desert or take up employment here, with all their expenses exactly covered by their salary.
(5) Kaylin: (shit.)
(9) Derrel: Oh, and the music is quite dead. You could hear it, unless perhaps you started the trade with your own.
** (8) Kibin backs away too. Oookay... **
(9) Derrel: 'And do the miners know what their selling? Your imps never told us what the contract covers.'
(9) Derrel: (Oh, the charade was over)
(10) Elorin: And do you explain to them what they're giving up to pay their debts?
(1) GM: Baron: I'm not that crazy. And yes, they do find out, from the other miners, usually.
(1) GM: Baron: Pity they are so depressed all the time. But, what can you do?
(5) Kaylin: (is Orry in the bag in a scabbard?)
(1) GM: (scabbered in bag, Oraneormu in scabbard)
(1) GM: (so "Yes")
(9) Derrel: 'A trade in which one person does not know what they are giving away is invalid.
(1) GM: Baron: The contract works quite well.
(5) Kaylin: Hey, now... let's not get violent here...
(5) Kaylin: {at least until we're prepared}
(10) Elorin: And even proposing such a trade is unquestionably evil
(9) Derrel: 'Then it is not lawfull, as it tricks them, rather than providing a basis for a bargain.'
(10) Elorin: (you've got your spell component pouch, right?)
(9) Derrel: 'I don't think he cares about that.'
(5) Kaylin: (yes...)
(10) Elorin: (I've got a quiver or two on my back now, as well as having my bow in hand)
(5) Kaylin: (derrel is swordless..)
(5) Kaylin: (and armorless)
(9) Derrel: (Derrel has Quick Draw)
(5) Kaylin: (draw what?)
(1) GM: Baron: Bah! What's a few foolish miners compared to the power I get from that nifty guy who can grant me a wish once a month? Previously I was getting such lesser rates from others.... good thing he showed up.
(9) Derrel: (All he has to do is pull out the scabbard, and he's armed)
(5) Kaylin: (from my bag, and I'm a little ways away..)
(1) GM: (move action to retrieve, standard to throw, move to catch)
(5) Kaylin: (oh. OK)
(9) Derrel: 'Then you have voilated both law and morality. I have no qualms.'
** (9) Derrel moves over to the bag, and pulls out Oran. **
(5) Kaylin: (Knowledge: the Planes for the wish thnig?)
(1) GM: Baron: That's how it shall be, then?
(5) Kaylin: {So we fight? To the death?}
(1) GM: (If you like, but Kibin's already met a demon that can grant a Wish once a month..... let him live, too....)
(5) Kaylin: (i'd like to know IC)
(5) Kaylin: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+14] -> [5,14] = (19)
(5) Kaylin: (or not, I guess.)
** (8) Kibin remembers somethng... Oh crap. "By any chance... does this demon have a few scars on him?" **
whispering to Kaylin, you don't know of a single demon that could do so. Sorry.
(9) Derrel: 'If you will not respect law or morality, and try to reverse these deals, I must do so myself.'
(1) GM: Baron: Yeah, mostly around his legs and such. Nasty scaring, looks like some tendons were torn.
(8) Kibin: I don't think the Baron here know's what's going on...
(10) Elorin: You know this demon, Kibin?
(1) GM: (-2 wisdom modifier.....)
(8) Kibin: Yes... it was one who gave me a wish.
(1) GM: (actually, though, he's mostly simply not worried.... where did that accountant come from, anyway?)
(5) Kaylin: (what did you wish for?)
(1) GM: (Permanent Resistance - which left a Strong Evil mark on him for a while, till it was dispelled by a good outsider)
(1) GM: Baron: Well, I suppose I have to kill you all now, what with the drawing of weapons, the accusations, and the like....
(10) Elorin: Perhaps you could explain a bit more?
(10) Elorin: (to Kibin)
(8) Kibin: I'm not attacking! We can talk this out.
(1) GM: Baron: Oh? What would you like to say young dumpling?
(9) Derrel: (It's either this or sign Kibins' soul away)
(9) Derrel: (The plan was to get inside. We are inside. What more do you want? The keys to the manor?)
(8) Kibin: Me, and some other people have met that demon before. It attacked us, and we defended ourselves against it.
(1) GM: Baron: Well, it's been quite cordial to me. Good buisiness partner. I've been thriving quite well since he came along.
(5) Kaylin: Yeah, evil and evil get along quite well...
(1) GM: (the Lawful variety, anyway)
(1) GM: (especially when the demon's standard modus operandi is to tempt people, and demand great evil in payment for the wish....)
(1) GM: (like conning people out of their souls en mass while making them totally miserable)
(8) Kibin: Listen to me. That demon is using you to further it's own ends. It is using you to gain in power, and produce great evil.
(1) GM: Baron: So? I'm using him as much as, if not more than, he's using me. It's mutually beneficial.
(1) GM: Baron: And nothing unlawful is happening in my domain. Everything is quite in accordence with local law.
(8) Kibin: And what exactly do you wish for every month?
(1) GM: Baron: Oh, different things - death of those who oppose me, power, that the mine will stay full, that kind of thing.
(8) Kibin: Death?
(1) GM: Baron: Yes; it's much fun when the misguided people trying to lead a union simply perish. Usually leaves me in peace for months.
(5) Kaylin: {Elorin, how about a finger of death NOW?}
** (8) Kibin sees that he won't listen to reason... so Bluffing! **
(8) Kibin: You can get a lot more without the help of that demon, you know. If you simply make your workforce happier, then they will work better, and you'll get more.
** (8) Kibin wonders if that's a bluff, or just logic. Hmmm. **
(8) Kibin: [1d20+15] -> [3,15] = (18)
(1) GM: Baron: But then I'd have to let them keep their money. And I'd be out more servants. And the wish can get me things I can't get elsewhere....
(8) Kibin: (bluff check, in case it matters.)
(1) GM: [1d20-2] -> [17,-2] = (15)
(1) GM: Baron: But your words do have some merit.... I doubt, though, that I could give up all the fun I've been having.....
(1) GM: Baron: Well, do you have a price for the pretties? Or should you just leave?
(5) Kaylin: {hw about now?}
(1) GM: (roll vs. initiative first)
** (10) Elorin readies Destruction, but is waiting for Kibin to give up or someone else to start the fight **
(8) Kibin: Draconic: Ah, just shoot him.
(1) GM: Baron: Such language from one so pretty?
(1) GM: Roll vs. Initiative. [1d20+5] -> [4,5] = (9)
(1) GM: [1d20+3] -> [7,3] = (10)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [3,4] = (7)

(12) Elorin (enter): 16:29
(5) Kaylin (exit): 16:29
(8) Kibin (exit): 16:29
(9) Derrel (exit): 16:29
(10) Elorin (exit): 16:29
(13) Kibin: (i rolled a 20. I BETTER HAVE A 20!)
(12) Elorin: (last line I saw: (I don't understand draconic, remember?))
(13) Kibin: (we should at least get a surprise round.)
(1) GM: Unfortunately, I didn't see it....
(14) Kaylin (enter): 16:30
(12) Elorin: (I readied an action)
(1) GM: (he's well aware of you, and HE does know draconic....)
(13) Kibin: (okay, last everyone say is me saying to shoot him.)
(13) Kibin: (ah. crud...)
(12) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+5] -> [16,5] = (21)
(13) Kibin: (out of curiosity, was there a nonviolent solution to this?)
(12) Elorin: (I probably beat him on initiative anyway)
(14) Kaylin: (GM: what's his Fort save?)
(15) Derrel (enter): 16:31
(14) Kaylin: (oops, Init.)
(14) Kaylin: Dex check: [1d20+2] -> [19,2] = (21)
(13) Kibin: (bah. i got a 20 but noone saw...)
(15) Derrel: (Back)
(15) Derrel: Initiative: [1d20+1] -> [7,1] = (8)
(13) Kibin: (HOLY CRAP! i jsut realized... does my cone of cold get a sneak attack bonus? :)
(15) Derrel: (Did Elorin do the Insta-Death spell?)
(14) Kaylin: (I cast Finger of Death....)
(12) Elorin: (no, that only applies to attacks, not AoE breath weapons)
(1) GM: (no, requires an attack roll; also, pauseing game, as it's time for my dinner)
(13) Kibin: (NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
(13) Kibin: (why can't you ever eat dinner at the computer?!?)
(15) Derrel: (Not bad, but lacked real expression. The sound was rather flat, and there was no follow-through)
(1) GM: (you haven't tried my mom's cooking)
(12) Elorin: (last line I saw before the crash was me rembinding Kibin I don't understand draconic)
(13) Kibin: (get it on a plate.)
(12) Elorin: (right after Kibin's "Ah, just shoot him")
(12) Elorin: (Derrel, you might be interested in this article about law/chaos alignments in D&D and the Paladin's Code: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sg/20050325a (don't know the html to make it a link))
(14) Kaylin: (< a href >
(14) Kaylin: (er, pointy brace, a space href = "URL" pointy brace)
(15) Derrel: (Yeah, I read that already from the link in the thread. Thanks. :) )
(14) Kaylin: test:
(1) GM: (Jason's still hiding.....)
(12) Elorin: (why would you use that, anyway? it's only 2d8)
(13) Kibin: (pssst. paralyzation.)
(13) Kibin: (coup de grace, coup de grace... off with their paralyzed head.)
(1) GM: (full round each, though.....)
(13) Kibin: (so? they'll be paralyzed for at least 2 rounds.
(12) Elorin: (move my mini for me, please. It's not quite clear to me where I'm supposed to be)
(14) Kaylin: (yeah, me too)
(1) GM: (Kibin? Icon?)
(13) Kibin: (oh, uh, just use the silver dragon pic.)
(13) Kibin: (i could probally undo the polymorph effect, and shrink outta the clothes, right?)
(12) Elorin: (standard action, I believe)
(1) GM: (Meh, they're borrowed.... but yes, your normal form is small, the one you occupy is medium - standard action, and you have a bite and two claws available, as well as wings)
(1) GM: (although I wouldn't reccomend flying on such a small map)
(15) Derrel: (And, uh, it's my suppertime)
(1) GM: (Enjoy. NPC, pause, or not on map?)
(13) Kibin: (why not?)
(13) Kibin: (it takes one space to turn 45 degrees.
(14) Kaylin: (well, we are in a room...)
(13) Kibin: (5ft to turn :)
(1) GM: (Average manueverability: maximum turn during a round: 90 degrees; minimum forward motion: 1/2 move (50 feet); size of room: 50x50; unless you start at a wall, you will hit one after you take off; if you do start at a wall, you are limited to moving along the sides of the room.)
(13) Kibin: (besides. i have 40 feet movement over land :P
(1) GM: (and you have a 40-foot land move, with much, much better manueverability)
(13) Kibin: (yup. o.O)
(13) Kibin: (NPC derrel?)
(1) GM: Well, as Derrel hasn't answered, it's off the map he goes.
(15) Derrel: (Sure, NPC Derrel)
(13) Kibin: (it'll take him a while to grab his weapon.)
(14) Kaylin: (I think he already did)
(12) Elorin: (no, he already had it out)
(13) Kibin: (not out of the sheath...)
(1) GM: (and you can't actually ready actions outside of combat... but Elorin won initiative)
(12) Elorin: (Quick Draw)
(1) GM: Elorin? Actions?
(12) Elorin: You brought this on yourself, Baron
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Destruction ( level 7, "Kills subject and destroys remains." )
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 7 Spell ( level 7, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(14) Kaylin: (*sigh*)
(12) Elorin: (DC 25 fort)
(14) Kaylin: {Not any overkill there, was it?}
(13) Kibin: (personally. i'd have used greater command: halt)
(1) GM: [1d20+8] -> [16,8] = (24)
(14) Kaylin: (owned)
(1) GM: And the baron vanishes from view.
(13) Kibin: (ooo. he gets to DISINTERGRATE LIKE A PHASER!)
(12) Elorin: (he disappears)
(13) Kibin: (hey. his clothes remain.)
(1) GM: Kaylin?
(12) Elorin: (not even a pile of dust remains)
(14) Kaylin: (and his money?)
(14) Kaylin: (silk!)
(13) Kibin: (and any OTHER magical items...)
(14) Kaylin: (oh, damn)
(12) Elorin: (equipment unaffected)
(14) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Finger of Death ( level 7, "Kills one subject." )
(14) Kaylin: (accountant guy)
(13) Kibin: (haha. ownage.)
(1) GM: (yes, stuff in an unkempt pile on the ground)
(14) Kaylin: SR penetration: [1d20 + 19] -> [13,19] = (32)
(13) Kibin: (if this succedes... WOOHOO!)
(14) Kaylin: (fort partial DC 25)
(1) GM: [1d20+3] -> [9,3] = (12)
(14) Kaylin: (hahahah)
(13) Kibin: (wow.)
(1) GM: Roll for damage.
(14) Kaylin: (go team spellcaster)
(13) Kibin: (i think we devestated this. what was the CR, out of curiosity?)
(14) Kaylin: (roll?)
(14) Kaylin: (that wasn't Disintegrate)
(13) Kibin: (instant death.)
(12) Elorin: (that was save-or-die)
(14) Kaylin: (save would have been [3d6 + 15] -> [2,1,4,15] = (22) damage
(1) GM: (Oh; well, he's dead then.)
(13) Kibin: (but he didn't save.)
(14) Kaylin: Cheers, Elorin.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(12) Elorin: (btw Kaylin, your SR penetration is actually +21 - Robe of the Archmagi gives +2)
(14) Kaylin: (not wearing it)
(12) Elorin: (oh, right)
(14) Kaylin: (Robe-wearing slave? I mean...)
** (13) Kibin says, "Demon is going to come soon..." He polymorphs back into a dragon, with a pile of clothes around him. **
(13) Kibin: Hmmm.
(1) GM: "Miner"'s turn....
(14) Kaylin: (what miner?)
(13) Kibin: (wait. i thought everyone was down?)
(1) GM: (where did that accountant pop in from, and what did Jason say when he looked around with see Ivinisbile?)
(13) Kibin: (if that's my turn, i polymorph out, then use my move action to uncover myself.)
(13) Kibin: (oh...)
(13) Kibin (whispering): i believe i'm entitled to blindsense...
whispering to Kibin, seems everyone's surrounded.....
(15) Derrel: (That was a good, if short meal.)
(13) Kibin (whispering): as in, completly surrounded?
(1) GM: Let's see... four to kaylin: Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [16,3] = (19) for [1d6] -> [2] = (2) (crit x4)
(13) Kibin (whispering): 8 people?
(1) GM: Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [8,3] = (11) for [1d6] -> [4] = (4) (crit x4)
(1) GM: Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [18,3] = (21) for [1d6] -> [4] = (4) (crit x4)
(1) GM: Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [2,3] = (5) for [1d6] -> [2] = (2) (crit x4)
(14) Kaylin: (...)
(14) Kaylin: (Why not Elorin?)
(14) Kaylin: (he has more HP)
(1) GM: (yes, but he didn't kill one of their own....)
(14) Kaylin: (AC 12...)
(12) Elorin: (and more AC. I expect there are more that will go for me, though)
(14) Kaylin: (oh yeah.)
(14) Kaylin: (oopsies)
(15) Derrel: (Fighting Imps?)
(1) GM: Also, as they attacked starting invisible, you are denied your Dex to AC....
(1) GM: Two to Elorin.
(1) GM: Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [6,3] = (9) for [1d6] -> [1] = (1) (crit x4)
(1) GM: Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [1,3] = (4) for [1d6] -> [3] = (3) (crit x4)
(12) Elorin: (these "Miner"s are all the imps, not the poor victims, right?)
(13) Kibin: (neener. no disadvantage for me.)
(1) GM: Three to Kibin....
(1) GM: Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [7,3] = (10) for [1d6] -> [4] = (4) (crit x4)
(1) GM: Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [8,3] = (11) for [1d6] -> [6] = (6) (crit x4)
(1) GM: Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [14,3] = (17) for [1d6] -> [3] = (3) (crit x4)
(14) Kaylin: (oh sure, the low rolls are to Elorin.)
(13) Kibin: (it's impossible for them to hit me... except on a critical. wow.)
(1) GM: And three to Derrel.
(1) GM: Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [12,3] = (15) for [1d6] -> [1] = (1) (crit x4)
(1) GM: Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [4,3] = (7) for [1d6] -> [2] = (2) (crit x4)
(1) GM: Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [11,3] = (14) for [1d6] -> [1] = (1) (crit x4)
(12) Elorin: (do fumbles exist in this game, or are nat. 1's just ordinary failures?)
(1) GM: (ordinary failures)
(13) Kibin: (if we dropped our weapon one out of twenty times, that would just be stupid.)
(13) Kibin: (jason! :D)
(15) Derrel: (That would probably be two hits)
(13) Kibin: (bah. i should have shared my magic items...)
(15) Derrel: (How much damage has Derrel taken?)
(1) GM: And let's see.... Kaylin's running AC 10, so three hits and 10 damage
(12) Elorin: (2?)
(1) GM: Elorin - both miss.
(1) GM: (denied dex, no armor)
(14) Kaylin: (chain lightning time...)
(13) Kibin: (just wait till it's my turn... MUUWAAHAAHAA)
(1) GM: (Kibin - what's your AC? I suspect they couldn't lay a pick on you.....)
(12) Elorin: (that'll instakill ALL of them, I think)
(13) Kibin: (32.)
(1) GM: And Derrel, you never did get your armor back on, did you?
(14) Kaylin: (how many are within 30 feet of me?)
(12) Elorin: (all 12)
(1) GM: (that you can see? The black dots)
(15) Derrel: (Don't see how he could)
(13) Kibin: (ah... i love blindsense...)
(1) GM: So AC... what, 10 for being struck by invisible attackers? Two hits, two damage.
(13) Kibin: (does blindsense work through walls?_
(14) Kaylin: (cool. Chain lightning...)
(1) GM: (nope, requires line of effect)
(1) GM: Derrel - your turn.
(15) Derrel: (Imps, right?)
(13) Kibin (whispering): did i sense any of them moving?
(1) GM: (has anyone explained to derrel yet? Doen't much matter, though, as they struck at Derrel first)
whispering to Kibin, no, they are all simply standing in place at the moment. You sense more that you can't see, though.
(13) Kibin (whispering): more than i can't see?
whispering to Kibin, with your eyes; imps have invisiblity at will as a spell-like ability. The bretheran are waiting to see how this turns out before acting.
(13) Kibin (whispering): so there's a whole lot more we can't see?
(13) Kibin (whispering): that aren't attacking us, i mean.
whispering to Kibin, yep. Pity you don't have time to count them.
(15) Derrel: (Nope)
(13) Kibin (whispering): my breath weapon is going to be interesting...
(13) Kibin (whispering): exactly how many saves are you going to go through? :)
(1) GM: (Then you don't know specifically whether or not they are evil, but I think even Derrel has the cognitive power to realize there's a pretty good chance they are)
whispering to Kibin, I'm thinking I'll just run one for the lot of those caught in the blast. Why?
(14) Kaylin: (maaybe. that probably takes an int modifier of more than -1...)
(12) Elorin: (or maybe it's more of a wisdom thing)
(14) Kaylin: (though after the Baron, anyone suporting him is probably evil)
(1) GM: (considering they were working for someone who was obviously quite evil?)
(1) GM: (I think that's worth a +10 on a DC 15 Int check)
(1) GM: (or rather, a DC 10 int check.)
(15) Derrel: (If they are miners, they could be mind-controlled)
(14) Kaylin: (even he could roll that.)
(1) GM: (and nobody's explained to Derrel about the imps...... fun. Well, your character; how would he react to getting hit by a few picks?)
(13) Kibin: (okay. will you people just smite everything already.)
(14) Kaylin: (give us a moment :))
(13) Kibin: (i want to use my breath weapon in combat for the first time...)
(15) Derrel: (He would probably try for non-lethat damage. So far, they havn't been anywhere near dangerous)
(14) Kaylin: (Chain Lightning doesn't seem to say anything about line of effect, except for the first target... and it's magical, couldn't I make it arc over/around allies?)
(14) Kaylin: (say that to the person with 41/51 HP...)
(1) GM: (people don't block line of effect, but they do provide some cover vs. ranged attacks.)
(13) Kibin: (chain lightning arcs to the targets you specify it to.)
(1) GM: (and -4 to deal nonleathal with a sword)
(15) Derrel: (Or...I just picked up Improved Sunder...)
(13) Kibin: (and 50% miss chance)
(15) Derrel: +4 Longsword Attack #1 Attack Roll: [1d20+22] -> [3,22] = (25)===> DMG: [1d8+5+2] -> [3,5,2] = (10)
(15) Derrel: +4 Longsword Attack #2 Attack Roll: [1d20+17] -> [16,17] = (33)===> DMG: [1d8+5+2] -> [1,5,2] = (8)
(15) Derrel: +4 Longsword Attack #3 Attack Roll: [1d20+12] -> [4,12] = (16)===> DMG: [1d8+5+2] -> [5,5,2] = (12)
(15) Derrel: (I renamed that, but it hasn't changed in the tree)
(13) Kibin: (okay. chain lightning is an automatic hitting effect, reflex for half damage.)
(15) Derrel: (Oh, and +4 to each attack against the picks)
(1) GM: (you have to be able to see them to specify where to arc; you could have someone standing behind a Wall of Force get hit as a secondary target, but someone behind a brick wall couldn't, as you can't see them to select them)
(13) Kibin: (we all got attacked, didn't we?)
(1) GM: (except Jason, standing around on the etherial plane at the moment)
(14) Kaylin: (can I see all of these people?)
(1) GM: (you can see the miners represented by the black dots, yes)
(13) Kibin (whispering): wonder what jason is thinking.
(13) Kibin: (so she could arc to those squares. problem solved!)
(12) Elorin: (anyway, get on with the battle)
(14) Kaylin: (these guys might have HP...)
(1) GM: Opposed attack rolls for Derrel's sunder attempts.....[1d20+3] -> [7,3] = (10), [1d20+3] -> [16,3] = (19), [1d20+3] -> [4,3] = (7)
(12) Elorin: (Derrel just rolled 3 sunder attacks on the picks)
(15) Derrel: (I also get +4 on each attack)
(1) GM: All three hit; 5 hardness, 10 HP; picks at 5, 7, and 3 hp remaining.... unless you choose to focus on one pick, of course.
(15) Derrel: (Plus, I don't provoke an attack of opportunity)
(15) Derrel: (I suppose he would attack each pick till it broke)
(1) GM: All three to the same pick, then, and it breaks.
(1) GM: Jason's turn.....
(13) Kibin: (would paralyzation end the invisibility effect?)
(12) Elorin: (this is why you really need an adamantine weapon for good sundering)
(14) Kaylin: (they're already not invisible)
(12) Elorin: (ignores all hardness of 20 or less)
(1) GM: (Not for those who are still invisible)
(1) GM: (however, it would wear off after a few minutes without renewal)
(15) Derrel: (You know, a wish could probably make the sword adamantine)
(1) GM: Jason's turn.....
(13) Kibin: (wish for everyone!)
(1) GM: He manifests in the middle of the room as a standard action.
(1) GM: Jason: Seems I'm a little late to the party....
(13) Kibin (whispering): um...
(1) GM: Elorin again.
(13) Kibin: (great. why'd jason pop up there.)
** (12) Elorin remembers how easily he killed the last imp we encountered **
(12) Elorin: You'd think imps would know better than to try taking down a party that just tossed out two instant death spells
(12) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+19] -> [17,19] = (36)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+8+0] -> [3,3,3,8,0] = (17)
(12) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+19] -> [1,19] = (20)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+8+0] -> [6,2,6,8,0] = (22)
(12) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 3) Attack Roll: [1d20+14] -> [1,14] = (15)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+8+0] -> [2,1,6,8,0] = (17)
(14) Kaylin: Yeah, seriously.
(12) Elorin: (yes, they get AoO's, AC 26)
(1) GM: Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [11,3] = (14) for [1d6] -> [6] = (6) (crit x4), Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [20,3] = (23) for [1d6] -> [2] = (2) (crit x4), Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [4,3] = (7) for [1d6] -> [6] = (6) (crit x4), Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [20,3] = (23) for [1d6] -> [5] = (5) (crit x4)
(12) Elorin: (keep shooting at the same one until dead)
(13) Kibin: (ouch... critical :)
(1) GM: Two potentials;Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [13,3] = (16) for [1d6] -> [6] = (6) (crit x4); Pick Heavy Pick [1d20+3] -> [14,3] = (17) for [1d6] -> [2] = (2) (crit x4)
(1) GM: Neither confirms; 7 damage.
(1) GM: And which ones do you want to take down?
(13) Kibin: (kaylin!)
(1) GM: AC 20; two hits
(12) Elorin: (the below me first, then clockwise around Kaylin)
(14) Kaylin: (thanks)
(14) Kaylin: {Nice shot, Elorin}
(13) Kibin: (why did one of the dots above me vanish?)
(1) GM: (the thing doesn't want to erase the one I selected....)
(1) GM: Two dead.
(1) GM: Kaylin?
(13) Kibin: (can i yell something out before Kaylin's turn?)
(14) Kaylin: (sure...)
(1) GM: (speaking is a free action that can be taken out of turn, yes)
(13) Kibin (whispering): all those imps are around Jason, right?
whispering to Kibin, including one IN HIS SQUARE, yes.
(14) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Chain Lightning ( level 6, "1d6/level damage; 1 secondary bolt/level each deals half damage." )
(14) Kaylin: Sizzle...
(13) Kibin: (HEY! i was going to tell you to do something.)
(13) Kibin: (fine. don't listen to me :P)
(1) GM: Concentration check to cast defensively, or provoke?
(14) Kaylin: (I already said. It won't work)
(13) Kibin: (bah.)
(14) Kaylin: (what would the concentration check be?)
(13) Kibin: (please listen?)
(12) Elorin: (DC 21)
(14) Kaylin: (i'll do that...)
(14) Kaylin: Concentration Skill Check: [1d20+17] -> [7,17] = (24)
(14) Kaylin: (yay 16 ranks in concentration.)
(13) Kibin: (GM. the black blob above me is supposed to be a square to the left.
(1) GM: Which ones kick it?
(13) Kibin: (wait, nm...)
(14) Kaylin: (so... primary... [15d6] -> [3,4,1,5,4,1,2,3,2,6,1,4,5,6,2] = (49)
(14) Kaylin: (the guy to my left)
(12) Elorin: (she can hit every single one that's visible)
(13) Kibin: (HOLY!)
(14) Kaylin: (then arcs to everyone...)
(13) Kibin: (yeah... she go do that.)
(14) Kaylin: (oh yeah, SR... [1d20 + 19] -> [10,19] = (29)
(14) Kaylin: (hope that penetrates...)
(1) GM: Let's see... reflex half doesn't even matter for the primary; does to the secondaries, though.... just to simplify things, one save: [1d20+6] -> [13,6] = (19)
(1) GM: (No SR.....)
(12) Elorin: (that fails)
(14) Kaylin: (DC is above that... mwahahaha)
(1) GM: All targeted imps dead.
(14) Kaylin: (these guys have low HP o.O)
(13) Kibin: (i think a dozen imps got owned.)
(13) Kibin: (my turn?)
(14) Kaylin: (score.)
(1) GM: Kibin's turn.
(12) Elorin: (they're Imps. Of course they have low HP)
(12) Elorin: (Imps are very minor devils)
(13) Kibin (whispering): there needs to be a way for you to put the exact locations for me :P
(14) Kaylin: (ok, that was fun)
(1) GM: Oh... they run next turn.... but figure every other square.
whispering to Kibin, Oh... they run next turn.... but figure every other square.
(1) GM: (Bah! FOrgot to whisper. Oh well.)
** (13) Kibin steps towards Jason, breathing a path of paralyzing cold air at Jason's direction. **
(13) Kibin: [1d4] -> [2] = (2)
(13) Kibin: (paralyzation breath :)
(13) Kibin: (lemme figure up DC...)
(1) GM: (reflex of fort? Ref: [1d20+6] -> [1,6] = (7); Fort: [1d20+3] -> [17,3] = (20))
(13) Kibin: (fortitude. save is... 18 :(
(13) Kibin: (can't you do it for each one individually? :)
(1) GM: (Nope - it's not like the many CR 2 critters are worth any XP anyway....)
(13) Kibin: (i don't care. :P)
(1) GM: You hear a great pounding of feet, and feel some breezes pass by......
(13) Kibin: (people are probally going to be wondering...)
** (13) Kibin sighs. "They weren't affected, I guess..." **
(13) Kibin (whispering): they all running now?
(12) Elorin: Who?
(13) Kibin: The imps, I guess.
whispering to Kibin, yep; out the door, at highest possible speed - all are gone in a single turn.
(13) Kibin: All gone now, though...
(13) Kibin: As you probally heard.
(12) Elorin: Ah yes, they can be invisible
(1) GM: Jason: Hmm. Would seem I did miss the party. Oh well.
(13) Kibin: Yup, and I can tell where each and every one of them is. I think we need to go take care of this demon, now...
(13) Kibin: (i believe the demon needs to make about... 8 or so fortitude saves for Jason's negative levels?)
(12) Elorin: Do we have any idea where to find this demon?
(14) Kaylin: (next time, I'm going to prepare See Invisible as a quickened spell... cast it as a free action...)
(15) Derrel: (Hmm...That's about seven hours of playing)
(1) GM: Jason: Hmm... I suppose that is a bit of a pickle, isn't it. Of course, he may have heard you were coming, or have a pretty good idea that his meal ticket is dead.
(13) Kibin: Probally...
** (13) Kibin checks the nearby doors. **
(13) Kibin: (comeon. i'm supposed to get a non-evil wish to get dragon hitdie :P)
(14) Kaylin: he's probably just scared...
(1) GM: Search check?
(14) Kaylin: (you expect too much, Kibin :)
(13) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [5,19] = (24)]
(14) Kaylin: (While Kibin is searching, I'll get out and put on the Robe of the Archmagi)
(1) GM: Three doors; sorry, should have mentioned earlier two more checks?
(14) Kaylin: Derrel: want your armour out?
(13) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [6,19] = (25)
(13) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [3,19] = (22)
(13) Kibin: (bah. those sucks.)
(13) Kibin: (well? what do i find.)
(1) GM: You don't find any traps.
(15) Derrel: "Yes, thank you."
** (15) Derrel puts on his armor. **
** (14) Kaylin gets out Derrel's armour **
(12) Elorin: (Full Plate, right? That's going to take a few minutes, and require help)
(13) Kibin: (if i didn't find anything, i search everything more carefully, taking 10 for a flat 29.)
** (14) Kaylin helps Derrel **
(1) GM: Purple: main door (bound in adamantium); brown: other doors (wood)
(12) Elorin: (and the DC is 30... :P)
(14) Kaylin: (oh, nevermind then...)
(13) Kibin: (and if THAT doesn't find anything, and if we're still around here...)
whispering to Kibin, you find a trap on the west door - Dragon Bile trap
whispering to Kibin, you find a trap on the west door - lock covered in Dragon Bile trap
(13) Kibin (whispering): i wasn't affected?
whispering to Kibin, touch trigger; you didn't trigger it yet.
** (13) Kibin hmmms. "Kaylin, I'm sure you have those theives tools in your handy bag of holding,..." **
(14) Kaylin: I do
** (14) Kaylin gets those out too **
(14) Kaylin: This bag is extremely useful..
(14) Kaylin: But I can't wait to get back to the comfort of the silk carriage...
** (13) Kibin grabs the tools, and walks back over to the west door. And... begins doing some stuff to the lock. **
(13) Kibin: [1d20+17] -> [20,17] = (37)
(13) Kibin (whispering): disable device for the posion...
(12) Elorin: (meanwhile, Elorin examines the pile of stuff left behind by the Baron)
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Detect Magic ( level 0, "Detects spells and magic items within 60 ft." )
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 0 Spell ( level 0, "Spell slot tracking device" )
whispering to Kibin, you successfully disable the trap; in fact, you are pretty sure you could leave it active and still get everyone past....
(13) Kibin (whispering): add two to that for the tools. whoops.
(12) Elorin: (and scans the rest of the room while he's at it)
(13) Kibin (whispering): now. why would i do that?
(14) Kaylin: (hey, this room had a lot of silky things and/or expensive stuff, right?)
(14) Kaylin: (can we grab it?)
(1) GM: (so your visual inspection said)
(12) Elorin: (brb)
(14) Kaylin: (cool.)
(13) Kibin: [1d20+17] -> [8,17] = (25)
(13) Kibin (whispering): open lock
whispering to Elorin, most everything shows up as magic to some degree or another; spellcraft check?
(13) Kibin (whispering): personally, i'd think i'd be immune to dragon bile posion :P
whispering to Kibin, lock is open.
** (13) Kibin opens the west door, to... **
whispering to Kibin, humans are only selectively immune to their own stomach acid - and even where it belongs, it can sometimes cause problems; stomach acid on your finger would hurt quite a bit.
(1) GM: ... a paused area, for now, as the party isn't following just yet; busy looking at stuff.
(13) Kibin (whispering): aw, comeon! can't i even know what's in there.
whispering to Kibin, not yet, now.
(14) Kaylin: (well... I can loot this stuff later)
(13) Kibin: (hurry up. :P)
(1) GM: Well, in that case, you find a stairway behind the door, heading downwards.
(13) Kibin: Ooo, stairway!
(13) Kibin: (will this be over in under an hour?)
(14) Kaylin: (ooh, dugeons)
(12) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+17] -> [8,17] = (25)
(14) Kaylin: (can I make one too? please?)
whispering to Elorin, Moderate illusion
(1) GM: (are you using Detect Magic?)
(12) Elorin: (that was for my detect magic)
whispering to Elorin, on pretty much everything.
** (13) Kibin briefly searches for traps in here. **
(14) Kaylin: (ah)
(13) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [11,19] = (30)
(12) Elorin (whispering): it's ALL illusion?
whispering to Elorin, the furnishings and such, yes.
whispering to Kibin, you don't find anything.
(15) Derrel: (Lets all follow Kibin?)
** (14) Kaylin does so **
(12) Elorin: Hmm, it seems the Baron wasn't quite as well off as he might have thought
(14) Kaylin: oh, on the way....
(13) Kibin: Hmmm?
(14) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Prestiditation ( level 0, "Performs minor tricks." )
(12) Elorin: Most of the furnishings reek of illusion
(14) Kaylin: Let's get this slave-girl outfit clean....
(1) GM: As Kibin steps into the stairwell....
(1) GM: Chain Lightning! [11d6] -> [2,5,5,1,2,4,2,3,2,3,5] = (34) reflex DC 19 half to Kibin,
(1) GM: [5d6] -> [3,6,2,4,2] = (17) reflex DC 19 half to everyone else.
(14) Kaylin: (hmmph, low level.)
(13) Kibin: [1d20+14] -> [20,14] = (34)
(13) Kibin: (owned. no damage.)
(12) Elorin: Reflex save: [1d20+18] -> [6,18] = (24)
(15) Derrel: (The demon cast delusion on him?)
(14) Kaylin: Reflex save: [1d20+10] -> [14,10] = (24)
(15) Derrel: Reflex save: [1d20+8] -> [11,8] = (19)
(1) GM: Reflex save: [1d20+11] -> [3,11] = (14)
(14) Kaylin: {Care to heal everyone?}
(1) GM: Jason maybe hit; incorporeal miss chance; 50 or less misses [1d100] -> [46] = (46)
(13) Kibin: Can you speak in a language we all can understand already?!?
(1) GM: And Jason is completely unharmed.
** (14) Kaylin smirks at Kibin **
(13) Kibin (whispering): just alert me if my blindsense picks up anything.
(12) Elorin: (how badly is everyone hurt?)
(14) Kaylin: (24/51)
** (13) Kibin is completly unharmed, too. "I can tell you if anyone is nearby..." **
(1) GM: Everyone made their saves (except Jason, who was missed) so Derrel, Kaylin, and Elorin each took 7 damage from the lightning.
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Serious Wounds ( level 3, "Cures 3d8 damage +1/level (max +15)" )
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(12) Elorin: [3d8+14] -> [2,8,6,14] = (30)
(13) Kibin: (evasion. is there anything it can't do?)
** (13) Kibin says, "We go on now..." **
(12) Elorin: (Kaylin's wounds disappear)
(12) Elorin: (anyone else?)
(14) Kaylin: Thank you
(13) Kibin: Wait. Elorin, don't you have detect magic?
(15) Derrel: (Nah, minor damage only and Derrel has loh)
(12) Elorin: Yes
(13) Kibin: Can you see if the trap in front of me is still active?
(1) GM: Also, Kibin - in eveading, you jumped back.
(12) Elorin: Sure
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Detect Magic ( level 0, "Detects spells and magic items within 60 ft." )
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 0 Spell ( level 0, "Spell slot tracking device" )
whispering to Elorin, You detect magic - Moderate Evocation.
(12) Elorin: It's still there
(13) Kibin: Ah...
** (13) Kibin sets to work untrapping it, then... **
(13) Kibin: (already found it, right?)
(1) GM: No, you missed that one in the search.
(13) Kibin: (well, it DID activate...)
(12) Elorin: (I can point out exactly where the spell is anchored, right?)
(1) GM: You aren't quite sure where it is, as you had slightly more important things to worry about when it zapped at you unexpectedly
(13) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [11,19] = (30)
(1) GM: (down to a 5-foot square)
(13) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [20,19] = (39)
(13) Kibin: (there. i see it now?)
(13) Kibin: (and anything else in the room...)
whispering to Kibin, on your second (well... third....) attempt, you find it.
** (13) Kibin takes out the tools again, and gets to work... **
(13) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [17,19] = (36)
whispering to Kibin, and successfully disable it... you think.
** (13) Kibin hmmms. "If everyone would step back out of the effect?" **
** (15) Derrel steps back out of the effect **
(13) Kibin: Unless you like getting zapped, that is.
(1) GM: Jason shrugs and goes etherial.
** (14) Kaylin steps back **
(13) Kibin: (and elorin steps back too?)
** (12) Elorin steps back **
** (13) Kibin steps forward. **
(1) GM: And ....
** (13) Kibin gets ready for the probable electricity storm... **
(1) GM: hears his foot hit the stair.
(14) Kaylin: (it'd be so anticlimatic if nothing happened)
(13) Kibin: Wooo, I stopped the trap.
** (13) Kibin goes on, searching for traps as he goes. **
(13) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [1,19] = (20)
(13) Kibin: (NOOOOOOOO!)
(12) Elorin: (I just remembered, I gave electricity resistance 10. I took no damage from the trap)
(12) Elorin: (*have, not gave)
(13) Kibin: (comeon DM, pick up the pace :P)
(14) Kaylin: (how'd you get that?)
(13) Kibin: (an hour...)
(12) Elorin: (Favored Soul class feature)
(14) Kaylin: (ah)
(1) GM: Unfortunately, at the door at the bottom of the stairwell, Kibin blithly triggers another lightning storm.
(13) Kibin: [1d20+14] -> [3,14] = (17)
(14) Kaylin: Nice going...
(12) Elorin: (at 5th, 10th, and 15th level, I pick an energy type to get resistance 10 to)
(13) Kibin: (ouch.)
(1) GM: [11d6] -> [5,4,6,4,2,1,5,6,6,4,3] = (46) to kibin, reflex DC 19 half, everyone else [5d6] -> [6,1,4,4,5] = (20) reflex DC 19 half.
(14) Kaylin: (wow. Favored Soul sounds like an awesome class..)
(14) Kaylin: Reflex save: [1d20+10] -> [18,10] = (28)
(13) Kibin: (can i make another reflex save for half? please? :)
(12) Elorin: Reflex save: [1d20+18] -> [16,18] = (34)
(1) GM: (sorry - full damage.)
(14) Kaylin: (y'know, I think I preferred the pit traps...)
** (13) Kibin groans. "Ow..." **
(15) Derrel: (Uh...Didn't we step back out of range?)
(15) Derrel: Reflex save: [1d20+8] -> [15,8] = (23)
(12) Elorin: (If we were all going down with Kibin, I would have still been concentrating on Detect Magic and could have warned him)
(1) GM: Jason, still etherial, is completely unaffected. Everyone else (besides Kibin, who took 46) takes 10 electricity damage - which means Elorin's fine.
(13) Kibin: Elorin, healing please?
(1) GM: (search DC 31 - Kibin missed it by 10 - totally hit)
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Critical Wounds ( level 4, "Cures 4d8 damage +1/level (max +20)" )
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(12) Elorin: [4d8+14] -> [1,5,5,3,14] = (28)
(13) Kibin: Why can't there be cone of cold traps down here...
** (13) Kibin is still hurt... **
(12) Elorin: [46-28] -> 18 damage left
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Moderate Wounds ( level 2, "Cures 2d8 damage +1/level (max +10)" )
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 2 Spell ( level 2, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(12) Elorin: [2d8+10] -> [3,3,10] = (16)
(1) GM: (because the Sorceror knew chain lightning)
(13) Kibin: (ignore the 2 damage left :P)
(1) GM: And my connection isn't working so well at the moment. Grr..
(1) GM: Anyone online again?
(18) Kibin (enter): 18:34
(12) Elorin: (I never left)
(18) Kibin: (what the crud.)
** (18) Kibin sighs. "Elorin, electricity resistance would be nice." **
(1) GM: (somewhere on the other side of my local router lies a connection that sometimes stops)
(19) Derrel (enter): 18:35
(15) Derrel (exit): 18:35
(12) Elorin: OK
** (18) Kibin sighs. "Elorin, electricity resistance would be nice." **
(12) Elorin: One Resist Energy coming right up
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Resist Energy ( level 2, "Ignores 10 (or more) points of damage/attack from specified energy type" )
(13) Kibin (exit): 18:35
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 2 Spell ( level 2, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(12) Elorin: (electricity resistance 30)
(1) GM: Trying again?
(12) Elorin: (for the next 140 minutes)
(18) Kibin: Thank you...
(18) Kibin: Want to do it on everyone?
** (18) Kibin searches for the trap... THE SECOND FREAKING TIME! **
(14) Kaylin: (sure)
(18) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [11,19] = (30)
(18) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [17,19] = (36)
(12) Elorin: Why not
(12) Elorin: (before Kibin triggers it again...)
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Resist Energy ( level 2, "Ignores 10 (or more) points of damage/attack from specified energy type" )
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 2 Spell ( level 2, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Resist Energy ( level 2, "Ignores 10 (or more) points of damage/attack from specified energy type" )
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 2 Spell ( level 2, "Spell slot tracking device" )
** (18) Kibin then sets out to disarm it... **
(12) Elorin: (on Kaylin and Derrel)
whispering to Kibin, you find another chain lightning trap (of course)
(18) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [15,19] = (34)
whispering to Kibin, and disable it
** (18) Kibin steps forward, then. ONWARD! **
(18) Kibin: [Bad dice format] - [1d20+!9]
(18) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [19,19] = (38)
(1) GM: Opening the door?
** (19) Derrel follows Kibin, for some reason. **
** (14) Kaylin stays 35 feet behind Kibin **
(18) Kibin: (if there's no trap on the door that i found coming down here... sure?)
(1) GM: You find the door is locked.
(12) Elorin: (even a failed save on the secondary damage won't hurt you, Kaylin)
(18) Kibin: [1d20+17] -> [5,17] = (22)
(18) Kibin: [1d20+17] -> [2,17] = (19)
(18) Kibin: (neither of those did it, did it...)
(1) GM: And the lock springs open on the first try.
(18) Kibin: (or maybe it did.)
** (18) Kibin opens the door, to find... **
(18) Kibin: (TREASURE! please?)
(14) Kaylin: (by the way, when are we going to free the miners?)
(1) GM: A bedroom, well furnished, with a chest in the corner, and some burning torches on the walls.
(18) Kibin: YAY! Treasure!
** (18) Kibin runs around, searching for traps. **
(18) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [15,19] = (34)
whispering to Kibin, you are quite certain the chest is trapped with a stronger version of the lightning trap from earlier.
** (12) Elorin looks around for magic, assuming it didn't take us 14 minutes to get down here **
** (18) Kibin hmmms. "Okay, if everyone could stand back. Stand back, as in far, far away. **
** (18) Kibin sets out to disarm something on the chest. **
(18) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [8,19] = (27)
** (14) Kaylin hops out of the room **
whispering to Elorin, the torches are everburning, and there's some magic you can't quite make out in the chest.
** (12) Elorin leaves while Kibin works **
whispering to Kibin, you are quite sure it's still armed.
(18) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [6,19] = (25)
(18) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [8,19] = (27)
(18) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [11,19] = (30)
** (19) Derrel leaves the room **
whispering to Kibin, you are quite sure it's still armed.
(18) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [9,19] = (28)
(18) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [15,19] = (34)
(18) Kibin: (THERE! 6th try.)
whispering to Kibin, you are quite sure it's still armed.
** (18) Kibin hmmms. **
(12) Elorin: (what was the DC?)
(18) Kibin: [20+19] -> 39
whispering to Kibin, you are quite sure it's still armed.
(18) Kibin: (i should have vaped it...)
(18) Kibin: Ah, crap.
(1) GM: After sitting there for twenty minutes carefully searching the chest over and over....
** (18) Kibin resorts to doing it the old fashioned way, then... Here goes nothing. **
(18) Kibin: [1d20+17] -> [2,17] = (19)
(18) Kibin: (unlocking the lock. ooo.)
(1) GM: It stays locked.
(18) Kibin: [1d20+17] -> [19,17] = (36)
(18) Kibin: (more unlocking the lock. ooo.)
(1) GM: The lock snicks opened.
** (18) Kibin opens the chest then. **
** (12) Elorin comes back in **
(1) GM: And see stuff.
** (14) Kaylin meanders back in **
(18) Kibin: Stupid illusions!

(14) Kaylin: (LOOT)
(18) Kibin: Kept me here for an entire 20 minutes...
(14) Kaylin: (ooh pretty)
(14) Kaylin: (oh no. the rock.)
(18) Kibin: Kaylin, if you would be so kind as to use detect magic, and Analyze?
(14) Kaylin: {Detect Magic?}
(1) GM: As well as a big pile of parchments.
(14) Kaylin: yay, paper...
(1) GM: All signed in red.
(18) Kibin: And will you people talk in a language I can understand? That drives me crazy...
(14) Kaylin: {haha, it drives him crazy}
(18) Kibin (whispering): i sense anything nearby other than the party?
(18) Kibin: Yes, I know it drives me crazy. Now will you stop?
(12) Elorin: (do these parchments look familiar? like the contract none of us signed?)
whispering to Kibin, not that you have line of effect to
(14) Kaylin: (how did you undferstand what I said?)
(1) GM: Why yes, they do. Same script.
(18) Kibin: (hehe. :)
(19) Derrel: 'So...Can we use these to free those people?"
(14) Kaylin: Well, seeing as we're the holders...
(18) Kibin: Well, we could try burning them.
(14) Kaylin: (knowledge check?)
(18) Kibin: Or, freezing them into tiny pieces.
(12) Elorin: Let's see what our magic expert has to say on the matter, first.
whispering to Kaylin, The Planes again.
(14) Kaylin: Freezing doesn't work so well on paper.
(18) Kibin: (hurry up and ID the stuff :P)
(14) Kaylin: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+14] -> [17,14] = (31)
(14) Kaylin: (waiting for Elorin's Detect Magic)
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Detect Magic ( level 0, "Detects spells and magic items within 60 ft." )
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 0 Spell ( level 0, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(18) Kibin: Meh. I could still shred them to bits with my teeth.
(14) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Analyze Dweomer ( level 6, "Reveals magical aspects of subject." )
whispering to Kaylin, signed, they are invulnerable from everyone except the original holder, someone he willingly handed them over to, or the touch of a true Paragon of Good.
(18) Kibin: (GIVE US TEH LOOT!)
(19) Derrel: "Shredding them might not negate them."
(14) Kaylin: *sigh* Bloody paladins get all the action. Derrel, they're immune to everthing we can do except your touch.
(19) Derrel: "So...I just have to touch them?"
(18) Kibin: All he has to do is touch them? That's... anticlimatic.
(14) Kaylin: (did I interpret that right?)
(18) Kibin: Can we burn them afterward?
(14) Kaylin: (oops, forgot to whisper.)
** (18) Kibin smiles a toothy grin. **
(14) Kaylin: Be a wyrmling, you're too obsessed with fire.
whispering to Kaylin, the listing is the passage you remember reading in your studies; interpertation is up to you.
(18) Kibin: No, not obsessed with fire, I don't like fire too much...
(14) Kaylin: I believe you touching them would work... aren't you a paragon of good?
** (19) Derrel touches one. **
(14) Kaylin: (in draconic) Then you should be obsessed with freezing stuff... have a barbeque...
** (18) Kibin expects fireworks. **
(18) Kibin: Draconic: How is freezing stuff a barbeque?
** (19) Derrel doesn't know if he's a paragon of good. It's worht a shot, though. **
(1) GM: The one on top bursts into unholy flame... Derrel, [2d6] -> [5,1] = (6), reflex half.
(19) Derrel: Reflex save: [1d20+8] -> [12,8] = (20)
(18) Kibin: Ooo, flame.
(14) Kaylin: Looks like it'll work..
whispering to Derrel, and lose a point of Lay on of Hands for the day.
(14) Kaylin: just don't kill yourself
(18) Kibin: Can't he touch it with his sword?
(1) GM: Reflex successful; 3 damage.
(19) Derrel: (Wouldn't holy flame be more appropriate?)
(18) Kibin: His sword, technically, would be a paragon of good...
(14) Kaylin: Orry? probably...
(1) GM: And there are still quite a few more beneath that one.
(14) Kaylin: (unholy..)
(14) Kaylin: (because they're evil and stuff)
(14) Kaylin: Just skewer them all
(18) Kibin: Just poke them with your sword and see what happens.
(18) Kibin: Hehe, that works too.
(18) Kibin: Good thing there's no laywers round...
** (19) Derrel begins sorting documents into burnt and un-burnt, untill he's at half hit-points **
(14) Kaylin: (by the way, GM, I cast Analyse a while ago, never saw the results :/ send a node? :)
(12) Elorin: Try Oraneormu first
(14) Kaylin: (If there were lawyers my Good alignment would force me to cast Prismatic Spray on them)
(18) Kibin: (GIVE US TEH LOOT!)
(12) Elorin: As a sword, she wouldn't be harmed much by minor flames
(1) GM: Let's see....
(1) GM: [2d6] -> [3,4] = (7)
(1) GM: [2d6] -> [4,3] = (7)
(1) GM: [2d6] -> [2,5] = (7)
(19) Derrel: Reflex save: [1d20+8] -> [18,8] = (26)
(19) Derrel: Reflex save: [1d20+8] -> [17,8] = (25)
(19) Derrel: Reflex save: [1d20+8] -> [12,8] = (20)
(1) GM: [2d6] -> [5,2] = (7)
(19) Derrel: Reflex save: [1d20+8] -> [16,8] = (24)
(18) Kibin: (my hopes for a wish is decreasing)
(12) Elorin: (If Derrel goes on sorting by hand anyway...) Wait a moment
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Resist Energy ( level 2, "Ignores 10 (or more) points of damage/attack from specified energy type" )
(19) Derrel: Reflex save: [1d20+8] -> [11,8] = (19)
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 2 Spell ( level 2, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(14) Kaylin: (oh, and on the loot division thing... did we ever really get the loot division sorted out from last time?)
(12) Elorin: (fire, and on Derrel)
(18) Kibin: (shhhh. :)
(19) Derrel: (I beleive that sorts the rest)
(1) GM: How many points of Lay on of Hands do you get each day?
(14) Kaylin: (hey now, Kibs, I want money :)
(19) Derrel: (I had 40 left - 60 total)
(18) Kibin: Personally, I would have thought to get resist energy first, instead of burning myself all those times.
(1) GM: You get through all the parchments, but run out of Lay On Of Hands.
(1) GM: On the last one.
(19) Derrel: (We can always do this day by day - However, someone should take care of the miners - Get them to civilization as they get their souls back and whatnot.
(14) Kaylin: (don't lame him, he has -1 int..)
(12) Elorin: (how many miners are there to get back to civilization?)
(18) Kibin: Kaylin, what's in the chest?
(1) GM: Oh... about three hundred.
** (14) Kaylin prepares to babble for a while... **
(12) Elorin: The potions, scroll, grey stone, and old cloak are magical
(18) Kibin: That's all?
(12) Elorin: (I could get them all out with Wind Walk in 10 days)
(18) Kibin: (ooo... sail craft...)
(14) Kaylin: (that'd work.)
** (18) Kibin looks at Kaylin. "Identify, please? **
(1) GM: (yes... with 8 hours per round trip, maybe 10 people per trip.... the sail craft would be busy for a long time.... assuming it didn't crash somewhere along the way)
** (19) Derrel goes to check on the miners **
(14) Kaylin: (just a sec..)
(14) Kaylin: (computer issues)
(18) Kibin: (COMEON! can't you identify first!!!)\
(14) Kaylin (whispering): Isn't the Stone of Alarm 2,700 instead of 1,000?
whispering to Derrel, the scruffy ones are all fine.... but the eerily similar ones are all collapesed and lifeless
** (18) Kibin nudges Kaylin with his nose. **
** (14) Kaylin starts explaining.... **
whispering to Kaylin, so it is; that's what I get for using a 3.0 treasure generator.
(14) Kaylin (whispering): And the wings...54,000 instead of 5,500...
(18) Kibin: (bah. i expected a wish.)
(14) Kaylin: (you expect too much)
(19) Derrel: (Thanks)
whispering to Kaylin, sending corrected node...
(18) Kibin: (i need to wish away those reincarnate effects already :P)
** (18) Kibin searches around for anything he missed. **
(18) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [3,19] = (22)
(18) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [8,19] = (27)
(14) Kaylin: (corrections: wings of flying are 54,000 gp, stone of alarm is 2,700 gp, total value is 69,777.3 gp)
(1) GM: After several minutes, whisps of white glowing strands start to gather in the center of the room.....
whispering to Kibin, and you don't find anything.
(14) Kaylin: (uhoh, I wanna make a check.)
** (18) Kibin blinks. **
whispering to Kaylin, Arcana, DC 45
(18) Kibin: Um, Kaylin? Do you know what's going on?
(12) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+17] -> [14,17] = (31)
whispering to Elorin, not any spell effect that you know.
** (18) Kibin cues the dramatic music.() **
** (19) Derrel wanders back in **
** (18) Kibin notes that this could be anyrthing...() **
(12) Elorin: It's not any spell I know of.
** (18) Kibin looks over to Kaylin. **
(1) GM: Rolling, Kaylin?
(12) Elorin: Maybe it's the miners' souls coming back?
(14) Kaylin: (ack.)
(14) Kaylin: (computer went haywire)
(19) Derrel: (Try Religeon?)
(14) Kaylin: Knowledge: Arcana Skill Check: [1d20+23] -> [2,23] = (25)
(14) Kaylin: (damnit)
(18) Kibin: (religion? spellcraft?)
whispering to Kaylin, you've never even heard of such an effect.
(1) GM: After a short while, the strands form a glowing white body, roughly human in form.
(14) Kaylin: No clue what's going on...
** (18) Kibin hmmms. "Okay, this is interesting..." **
(1) GM: It speaks....
(1) GM: In an oddly echoy voice...
(1) GM: White figure: Free.....
(1) GM: White: A boon... what would be Good....
** (18) Kibin looks around, wondering why the voice echos. Then he looks back to the white figure. Hmmm. **
(1) GM: You recognize that there is no possible way for the room to echo naturally.
(18) Kibin: (do we start running in terror now?)
(1) GM: (up to you)
(12) Elorin: (he's apparently trying to decide how to reward us)
(12) Elorin: (why would we run from that?)
(1) GM: White: Perhaps... I could manage a miracle....
(14) Kaylin: (just for the treasure division: [46739.7 / 5] -> 9347.94 + [69777.3/5] -> 13955.46 ... Kibin's contribution to the party loot plus this latest thing.)
(18) Kibin: (hey. i contributed no loot.)
(1) GM: White: What would you like from us?
(14) Kaylin: (you owed us for all the armour stuff you nicked :P)
(12) Elorin: (I've got pretty much everything from the loot before this worked out)
(14) Kaylin: (oh, ok)
(14) Kaylin: (I was just curious, 'cause those wings would be mighty useful for someone with no HP)
(1) GM: White: Noble releaser...
(12) Elorin: (Kibin, I think this is your chance...)
(14) Kaylin: {Always the paladin, isn't it?}
** (18) Kibin looks over to Derrel. "I think it's talking to you..." **
(19) Derrel: "Yes?"
(18) Kibin: (actually, it's derrels chance. ;)
(12) Elorin: (oh, right)
(1) GM: White: Name a boon....
(19) Derrel: (How do you ask for a Holy modifier to your weapon, IC?)
(18) Kibin: (holy weapon?)
(19) Derrel: "Oran? How would you like to do Holy damage to evil creatures?"
(1) GM: (ask for Oraneormu to be more effective in the fight against evil)
(1) GM: Oraneormu: Sounds just lovely, partner.
** (19) Derrel asks for Oraneormu to be more effective in the fight against evil **
(1) GM: White: So shall it be.....
(1) GM: The figure leans forwards and touches Oraneormu.... a great portion of it's substance flows into her....
whispering to Derrel, and now she has the Holy special ability.
(1) GM: And the figure, much reduced, leans back.
(1) GM: It faces the kobold
(14) Kaylin: (baaaaah)
(1) GM: White: That is... confusing. What are you?
(12) Elorin: (ok, NOW it's your chance)
(18) Kibin: (lol)
(14) Kaylin: (If I harp on about how I want a wish, can I get one?)
(19) Derrel: "A kobold reincarnated into a wolf and shapechanged into a silver dragon."
(1) GM: (only for certain types of things)
(18) Kibin: A dead kobold reincarnated into a talking wolf, then polymorphed into a silver dragon so I can have hands?
(19) Derrel: (See? Not so complex)
(12) Elorin: And sometimes he adds yet another step by changing into something else
(1) GM: White: Ah. Well. You're giving us a headache. What would you want to be?
(14) Kaylin: (dead)
(14) Kaylin: (*cough*)
(18) Kibin: Staying a dragon would be nice, since I can be a kobold any time I want.
(14) Kaylin: (but not a bigger one..)
(1) GM: White: It would releive the confusion.... SO BE IT.
(14) Kaylin: (damn)
(1) GM: The white figure leans towards kibin, touches him, and vanishes.
(14) Kaylin: (I need to choose something to want now)
** (18) Kibin blinks. **
(18) Kibin: (woo, no more dispel magic ruining my day...)
(12) Elorin: (aww, and here I was going to ask for a +5 inherent wisdom bonus :P)
whispering to Kibin, lose both Magical Beast Hit Dice (putting you down to 13th again, momentarily, and dropping those 8 ranks in Survival you picked up) and gain one dragon Hit Die
(12) Elorin: (j/k)
(14) Kaylin: (I wanted a +5 Int bonus. Can I have one? please? can I have one? can I have one? :D)
(18) Kibin (whispering): and i can rechoose a feat? :)
(19) Derrel: (And a pony?)
(18) Kibin (whispering): the feat i picked up as a wolf, that is.
(14) Kaylin: (yes! And the universe in my palm..)
whispering to Kibin, no, as that was at 15th... you can choose a different feat when you get back to 15th.
(14) Kaylin: (oh, and a chocolate milkshake on the side.)
(18) Kibin (whispering): what about extra feat from dragon hitdie?
(12) Elorin: (lol)
(12) Elorin: (greedy, aren't we?)
(14) Kaylin: (Hmm... yes)
whispering to Kibin, That's based on total hit dice; everyone gets one at 1st, 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th, 15th, and 18th; you dropped below 15th to 14th; your next one comes at 15th.
(18) Kibin (whispering): talking about extra feat for being a dragon that the SRD says they get.
(18) Kibin (whispering): i just wanted to pick up hover :P
(12) Elorin: (so, now that that's dealt with, let's explore the rest of the manor, pick up any more loot we find, and check out the situation with the miners, not necessarily in that order)
whispering to Kibin, Dragon Hit Dice do not true dragon form make; it anchors the spell, not truely makes you a dragon.
(18) Kibin (whispering): ah,
(18) Kibin (whispering): do i at least get the saves and BAB bonus? :P
(14) Kaylin: (sounds good. I'll do the loot patrol...)
whispering to Kibin, +2 to each save (wich, except for the Will, balances out what you lost from Magical Beast; down a net one point of BAB (-2 losing magical beast HD, +1 for Dragon HD))
(18) Kibin (whispering): aw :P
whispering to Kibin, also, you lose the HP based on the magical beast hit dice, and gain that based on the dragon HD - a d12
(19) Derrel: (Lets finish all that on the forum. Getting tired)
(18) Kibin: [1d12] -> [1] = (1)
(18) Kibin (whispering): :(
(14) Kaylin: (nice rol)
(14) Kaylin: (what was it for?)
(18) Kibin: (health...)
(1) GM: (Hit points on his nifty new d12, after losing the magical beast HD)
(14) Kaylin: (ahh.)
(12) Elorin: (Derrel, do you want Kibin's Ring of Protection +2 and Amulet of Natural Armor +2?)
(12) Elorin: (if not, I may have to change my loot calculations)
(18) Kibin (whispering): anything else?
(18) Kibin (whispering): other than losing wolf instincts...
(1) GM: Well, that's all I had planned for today.
(12) Elorin: (unless Kaylin or Jason claims them instead)
(14) Kaylin: (well, I wouldn't mind some AC or whatever)
whispering to Kibin, oh, yeah - Scent goes away, as does the wolfen Trip ability... but those are based on physical form, which you can resume with a standard action.
(14) Kaylin: (17 AC is kinda hard to be in when someone starts whacking you)
(18) Kibin (whispering): well, no longer a wolf so that doesn't matter... anything else?
(19) Derrel: (Those sound good)
(19) Derrel: (But I'd rather finish up on the forum)
whispering to Kibin, there's also the matter of some Silver Dragon skill points to distribute... but that can wait on the forums.
(12) Elorin: (there's also the Dusty Rose Prism Ioun Stone (5,000 gp) that I'm assuming we'll keep but haven't assigned to anyone)
(12) Elorin: (+1 insight to AC)
(18) Kibin (whispering): we have 5 minutes left. quadruple for first hitdie?
(14) Kaylin: (well, that's also a cool thing)
(18) Kibin: (i didn't use that. didn't want it flying around my head.)
(12) Elorin: (Kaylin, if you really want AC, the Monk's Belt would give you +3 for 13000)
whispering to Kibin, that only applies if it's your first HD; you got that benefit a long time ago - doesn't apply to multiclassing like this.
(18) Kibin (whispering): aw,
(12) Elorin: (and I don't think any else is interested in it)
(14) Kaylin: (ooh)
(18) Kibin (whispering): so just 8?
(19) Derrel: (Ok, ring and amulet for me)
(12) Elorin: (and the +1 AC Ioun Stone?)
(14) Kaylin: (would that stack with the belt?)
(18) Kibin: (just remember, that ring and amulet is coming out of the stuff i owe you :P
(12) Elorin: (I know)
(12) Elorin: (yes)
(14) Kaylin: (we know)
(14) Kaylin: (I'm still interested in the stone then)
whispering to Kibin, I beleive so... I worked it out should be on the forums somewhere....
(18) Kibin (whispering): and what's the max i can raise something to?
(12) Elorin: (I think Derrel should get priority on it if he wants it, though)
whispering to Kibin, [14+3] -> 17
(18) Kibin (whispering): from what you said on the fourms, i thought i was getting the whole BAB bonus :P
(12) Elorin: (so you're taking the Monk's Belt?)
(14) Kaylin: (we have one?)
(12) Elorin: (yes)
(12) Elorin: (it came from the countess)
(14) Kaylin: (well, you're right, Derrel should have priority.. since if the fighters are around, I shouldn't be taking too many hits...)
(12) Elorin: (and we haven't disposed of her loot pile yet)
** (18) Kibin comments, "Hmmm, I no longer thing Kaylin is tasty..." **
** (14) Kaylin glares at Kibin **
(14) Kaylin: (in draconic) What the hell?
(18) Kibin: No more wolf instincts.
whispering to Kibin, "6+Int Modifier skill points to spend (class skills: those of the Silver dragon: Bluff, Disguise, Jump, Listen, Search, Spot, Concentration, Diplomacy, Escape Artist, Intimidate, Knowledge (any), Sense Motive, and Use Magic Device)"
(14) Kaylin: so... you... thought... uurrrgh
(1) GM: Jason manifests.
(18) Kibin: Not my fault you tasted good...
(14) Kaylin: (in gnomish)bloody hell
(1) GM: Jason: Well, at least we won't have to worry about wolf-whistles for a while.
(14) Kaylin: Huh. Well, ok..
(14) Kaylin: (oh god, puns.)
(18) Kibin: (of course, i probally got the instincts of a silver dragon now...)
(19) Derrel: (Ok, the Ioun stone to. So +5 to AC)
(12) Elorin: No more convincing angry farmers he's a pet
(12) Elorin: (ok)
(14) Kaylin: (which means that you'll still think I taste good)
(14) Kaylin: (dragons are carnivores...)
(19) Derrel: (34 AC)
(19) Derrel: (So? Humans are omnivores, but I've never wanted to eat my neighbors)
(18) Kibin: (hehe. well, not yum yum good.)
(14) Kaylin: (do they taste good?)
(1) GM: (although a Silver (good-aligned) dragon probably would not like the taste of people)
(19) Derrel: (Don't know, don't want to find out)
(18) Kibin: (need to go...)
(14) Kaylin: (oh yeah.. silver are good)
(18) Kibin: Disconnecting from server...
(18) Kibin (exit): 19:37
(19) Derrel: (Yeah, lets finish up on the forum)
(1) GM: Have a good night; I'll post stuff on the boards.
(19) Derrel: Thank you, you to
(14) Kaylin: (all right. g'nigh' all)
(19) Derrel: Disconnecting from server...
(19) Derrel (exit): 19:37
(12) Elorin: (I'll post what I've got figured out for treasure division)
(14) Kaylin: (might be easiest if we went back to square 1 with the loot division)
(14) Kaylin: (and then everyone posts what they want from there, that way we don't have to sort out who has what already?)
