(2) Kibin: Hello.
(1) Jack Simth: Greetings.
(1) Jack Simth: 8 minutes until schedualed game time....
(2) Kibin: Yu[
(2) Kibin: Yup.
(2) Kibin: Hopefully I can stay away from the prismatic walls this time.
(1) Jack Simth: Yes, yes - the way OUT is much easier than going in the first time....
(2) Kibin: Good thing fire is the weakest portion of those prismatic walls. :P
(1) Jack Simth: And good thing we have people in the party who routinely see the Etherial....
(2) Kibin: Yup.
(2) Kibin: And good thing I made all those saves :P
(1) Jack Simth: Yeah... Permanent Insanity just isn't particularly good for a character...
(2) Kibin: Yeah, but there's the break enchantment thingie.
(1) Jack Simth: Technically, a Prismatic wall is an Abjouration....
(2) Kibin: And?
(1) Jack Simth: ... and Break Enchantment affects the Transmutations and Enchantment schools....
(1) Jack Simth: ... not abjouration.
(2) Kibin: Ah.
(2) Kibin: Well, technically, the effects themselves wouldn't be abjuration.
(2) Kibin: I think.
(1) Jack Simth: Technically? There's nothing specifying what school they are, so they inherit the abjouration school.
(2) Kibin: Ah.
(2) Kibin: Well, it says the effects are like another spell.
(2) Kibin: Ah well, I still live. :P
(1) Jack Simth: Though you did learn what it was like to be stoned for a short time... as did Kaylin.
(2) Kibin: Seems like every time we play, I get to be on the brink of death.
(1) Jack Simth: Only when something nutty happens... which is very nearly every time....
(2) Kibin: Trip through hell, that marialith...
(1) Jack Simth: As I said; nutty.
(2) Kibin: Prismatic wall, in which I failed a pathetically easy reflex save.
(1) Jack Simth: Hmm... giant dire squirrels....
(2) Kibin: Mmm...
(1) Jack Simth: Nah.... too much work....
(1) Jack Simth: ... then again....
(1) Jack Simth: Hmm....
(2) Kibin: You like puns, don't you?
(1) Jack Simth: Yep; read the entire Xanth series so far.
(1) Jack Simth: Hmm.... nearly five after...
(2) Kibin: Ah.
(2) Kibin: 2 after here.
(2) Kibin: Well, technically 4 after. Hmmm.
(1) Jack Simth: I suppose, if nobody else shows in the next few minutes, I could run a brief solo where you explore the possiblity of a role as a test subject....
(2) Kibin: Maybe.
(2) Kibin: Am I going to be on the brink of death again?
(1) Jack Simth: Maaaybe.
(2) Kibin: :P
(2) Kibin: I really don't want to be ressurected or reincarnated, I don't like level loss. :P
(2) Kibin: And probally not reincarnated. I like my opposable thumbs.
(2) Kibin: 7 minutes after. We wait, or solo?
(1) Jack Simth: Oh... another three... while I tally the votes from last session....
(2) Kibin: Ah, okay. Violist won, by the way.
(1) Jack Simth: Yep; two for Kaylin.
(1) Jack Simth: None for anyone else; but twice as many votes as last time!
(2) Kibin: Hehe.
(3) Shaorin (enter): 10:14
(2) Kibin: By the way... while I'm here...
(1) Jack Simth: Greetings.
(1) Jack Simth: Anyone I "know"?
(2) Kibin: XP total, so I can finnally keep track of it? :P
(1) Jack Simth: Ah, that would be a "yes"
(3) Elorin: Shaorin is my character in Randallw's campaign
(2) Kibin: Ah.
(2) Kibin: I like Jack's campaign more, he paints the scenery better.
(3) Elorin: 6th level psion kineticist
(3) Elorin: with the Vow of Poverty from the Book of Exalted Deeds
(2) Kibin: Ah yes, you're that person with the energy cones.
(2) Kibin: And I'm the person with the kicking butt of zombies.
(2) Kibin: Jack, you calculated my XP one day... what page is that on?
(2) Kibin: Going to finnally put it in my page. :P
(1) Jack Simth: 107,873 xp on 10/29/2005,
(2) Kibin: Okay... now how much XP since then?
(1) Jack Simth: 1800 for last weeks, so 109,673 total, I should think.
(1) Jack Simth: [107873+1800] -> 109673
(1) Jack Simth: Well, it's 13 past....
(1) Jack Simth: and Narf and Violist mentioned that they might be late or not here....
(1) Jack Simth: So....
Moving to room 'D and D'..

(2) Kibin: (I get to talk more with the old man! :P)
(2) Kibin: (He was discussing using me as a test subject last...)
(1) GM: Let's see.... Derrel's off sleeping in his room at the moment; seems he ate something that disagreed with him, after he found out where it came from, and Kaylin is working ferverently with her spellbook.
(2) Kibin: (Where it came from? :P)
(1) GM: Meanwhile, the old man shuffles Kibin out the door....
(1) GM: (Remember what the old man said about the milk?)
(2) Kibin: (Polymorphed cows? :P)
(1) GM: (before that)
(2) Kibin: (Just like momma used to make?)
(1) GM: (Right. Now tell me - how does someone make milk?)
(2) Kibin: (Ah. Okay :P)
(2) Kibin: (Don't think dragons get queasy stomachs, though. Yay.)
** (2) Kibin goes along with the old man. **
(1) GM: Old Man: So... you said you were looking for something to do? We have some spell demonstrations you could participate in....
(3) Elorin: (aren't kobolds lizard-like rather than mammals?)
(2) Kibin: (Yeah.)
(1) GM: (Details, details......)
(1) GM: (I always lose the details....)
(2) Kibin: Will this be lifethreating?
(1) GM: Old Man: Not usually.
(2) Kibin: (Dragons don't have milk too :P)
(2) Kibin: Um...
(2) Kibin: Okay, if I'm not in mortal danger.
(1) GM: Old Man: Those we hit cows and such with; occasionally, though, it's a defensive measure that is tested....
(1) GM: Old Man: And they don't always work perfectly.
(2) Kibin: Um...
(1) GM: Old Man: Oh, don't worry; just an Illusionist today.
(2) Kibin: Ah. What harm can they do?
(2) Kibin: Would my magic items interfere any?
(1) GM: The old man grins: Ah, so you want to join in, then? Cool. No, they won't have much effect, either way.
** (2) Kibin is slightly unnerved by the grin... **
** (2) Kibin follows the Teacher. **
(1) GM: Teacher leads Kibin down to the arena, and has him stand in the center.
(1) GM: The old man then bids Kibin stay put, and walks up to the announcer's podium.
(2) Kibin: If I die, the illusionist is paying for my true ressurection costs.
(1) GM: Elorin, having nothing much better to do, is simply ATTENDING the demonstration.....
** (3) Elorin wanders into the arena, idly looking for something to do or watch **
(1) GM: And sees Kibin standing in the middle, while a young man in black robes enters from the side....
(1) GM: Old Man, from the podium, heard quite clearly at a conversational tone by everyone.
** (2) Kibin thinks, "Ah crud, not the black robes again..." **
(1) GM: Except Kibin; too much would be given away.
whispering to Elorin, Teacher: Today, we have a demonstration from Shalimaracu - he researched a terror spell, designed to keep an opponent farily harmlessly contained. We shall see how well it works.
(1) GM: Teacher: Begin!
** (2) Kibin watches the black robe to see what happens, nervously. **
(1) GM: The black robed young man raises his arms, and a ring of fire appears, surrounding Kibin at a range of 100 feet, and slowly starts to contract....
(1) GM: Seems the flames go all the way to the cieling....
(1) GM: ... and melt the sand beneath....
(1) GM: Everyone can feel the heat....
** (2) Kibin looks around, nervous about the fire. "Um, you did say an illusionist, right?" **
(1) GM: Old Man: Ever hear of a Shadow mage? Not all illusions are fake....
(1) GM: The wall contracts to fifty feet from Kibin, on either side....
(1) GM: Oh, and make a will save, everyone.
(2) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [5,11] = (16)
(3) Elorin: Will save: [1d20+22] -> [11,22] = (33)
(2) Kibin: (Curse rogues and their low will saves :(
(3) Elorin: (-1 because I wouldn't see the point in continuing Heroes' Feast while we're here)
whispering to Elorin, the flames aren't acting quite right... feels wrong.... and a little transparent....
whispering to Kibin, those flames seem totally real to you.
** (2) Kibin tries firing his breath weapon at the wall of fire. **
(1) GM: The wall of fire weakens very, very slightly at the point where Kibin's pathetically weak cold breath intersects it... but only for a moment. The circle slowly contracts, coming inward at a frighteneingly slow, yet steady and inexorable pace....
(1) GM: Kibin - make a Fort save.
(2) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [1,11] = (12)
(2) Kibin: (And the law of low fortitude and will saves for rogues continue...)
(1) GM: Take [1.5*2d10] -> 15.0 nonleathal from heat exhaustion.
(3) Elorin: (despite his ring of minor fire resistance?)
(1) GM: The circle contracts further, but stops once it contains Kibin in a 5-foot diameter circle, taunting him....
(1) GM: Yep.
(1) GM: Oh, and Kibin - another fort save.
(2) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [5,11] = (16)
(1) GM: Take [1.5*2d10] -> 15.0 nonleathal from heat exhaustion.
(1) GM: After what seems like an eternity (to Kibin) but only a few minutes to everyone else, the flames die down and vanish.
** (2) Kibin is panting, trying to cool down. **
(1) GM: Black-Robe: And there you have it! The illisionary Terror! Quite harmless, but brings up one of the victim's worst fears to surround him, causing him to stay rooted to the spot in panick. Quite handy for torture, as there is no danger of actually killing the subject.
(1) GM: Oh, and Kibin - make a second will save, at +4.
(2) Kibin: [1d20+11+4] -> [15,11,4] = (30)
(2) Kibin: (wow.)
(1) GM: And you finally figure it out - that's not heat exhastion, it's a panic attack....
(1) GM: Because they weren't real flames.
** (2) Kibin sighs. He hates illusions... **
(1) GM: (Did I guess his fears about right?)
(2) Kibin: (Well, lets see. I almost died due to fire one time... I almost died again from the fire from that prismatic wall...)
(3) Elorin: (you really need a +Con item)
(2) Kibin: (Meh.)
(1) GM: (So, yes; good.)
(1) GM: Old Man: Well, that's it for today's demonstration. I'm sure you all could read the absolute horror in the subject's eyes and manner.
(1) GM: Black-Robe: And I even have the spell for sale! A mere 5,000 gp, and it too can be yours!
** (3) Elorin hopes this guy doesn't put on demonstrations frequently **
(1) GM: Old Man: And next, we have a summoner!
(1) GM: A middle-aged man in a white robe walks in.
(2) Kibin: (Does the non-lethal damage at least remove itself?)
(1) GM: (Nope....)
(3) Elorin: (1/level/hour)
(2) Kibin: (Ah.)
(1) GM: The middle aged man stands casting for an extra-long period of time....
(2) Kibin: (OH well, instead of dying, I just become unconsious.)
(1) GM: And a white-winged figure appears next to Kibin.
(1) GM: It reaches for him.....
(1) GM: Attempting to avoid?
(2) Kibin: (Yes, I guess, since I have no clue what it'
(2) Kibin: ('s going to do.)
(3) Elorin: (it was summoned by a white robe)
(1) GM: Touch attack: [1d20+18] -> [3,18] = (21)
(3) Elorin: (and it's an angel)
(1) GM: Touch AC?
(2) Kibin: (15...)
(1) GM: The winged figure touches Kibin, and he feels better [1d8+5] -> [4,5] = (9)
(1) GM: Kibin, your turn, if you choose to take one.
** (2) Kibin just watches, seeing what will happen. **
(1) GM: The winged figure then draws a mace, and swings....
(1) GM: [1d20+21] -> [6,21] = (27) for [1d8+12] -> [8,12] = (20) plus stunning
(2) Kibin: (AC 33...)
(1) GM: And Kibin avoids.
(1) GM: Your turn, Kibin - facing an angel with a ready mace....
(1) GM: Old Man: That may very well reduce healing costs.... but it doesn't seem to be well equpped for combat. Can't even hit a little dragon. Ah well.
** (2) Kibin turns and flies away, withdrawing. He's not sure to attack or not... **
(2) Kibin: (no AoO since I was withdrawing.)
(2) Kibin: (unless it threatens two squares.)
(1) GM: No, only medium.
(2) Kibin: (Okay, then I'm 200 feet away.)
(1) GM: The white-robed man waves his hand, and the figure vanishes.
(2) Kibin: If I wasn't wearing these magic items it would have hit me...
(2) Kibin: (Technically it did hit me. Was either deflected, or bounced off my shiny protective scales.)
(1) GM: White Robed Man: I also am selling copies, although this spell is ranked higher than anyone but the eldest of the archmages can manage, for a mere 10,000 gp.
** (2) Kibin asks the old man, "How many more of these people are going to demonstrate on me?" **
(1) GM: Old Man: And that concludes today's expirimental demonstrations, as our vic... er... voulunteer has had enough.
(1) GM: Old Man: Besides; not everyone has finished their projects quite yet....
(1) GM: The surrounding crowd wanders out of the arena.
** (2) Kibin hovers over to the spectator area, near the old man. **
(3) Elorin: (I wonder how often Epic spells get demonstrated here...)
(1) GM: (It's not an epic spell; it's a researched 14th level spell, requiring a 14th level spell slot to cast.)
(1) GM: (Think Summon Monster XIV....)
(2) Kibin: If you don't mind, I don't think I'm going to be avalible to 'demonstrate' any more spells...
(3) Elorin: (I'm not too sure how well that fits into the strict interpretation of the rules, but I think it's reasonable)
(1) GM: Old Man: That's fine - we don't normally have spells that require a thinking being; today we did, and for some odd reason, nobody wanted to volunteer.... that illusionist has been waiting a month for someone willing to take the floor.
(3) Elorin: (And I didn't think that was actually an epic spell. Those are rather more difficult to copy than would be indicated by a mere 10000 gp cost)
(2) Kibin: I can see why...
** (2) Kibin really does not like fire... **
(1) GM: (14th level spell for a CR 14 outsider; and researched spells have their own price; it's only the standard spells that use the fixed prices; when only a single person has the spell, he gets to charge whatever he likes)
(1) GM: (as he can sell it to maybe three people, he needs to charge a lot to recoup research expenses)
(1) GM: So, going anywhere?
(1) GM: Now that the crowd has finished wandering off.
(2) Kibin: Any other interesting things that happen here?
(1) GM: Old Man: Oh, only when something goes wrong.
(1) GM: Speaking of which....
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [94] = (94)
(1) GM: You hear a shout, and a crash.....
** (2) Kibin glances towards the source of the noise. "That doesn't sound good..." **
** (3) Elorin heads towards the noise **
** (2) Kibin follows. **
(1) GM: A moment later, and spy a Huge dragon, flashing in every color of the rainbow, making it's way through a wall... which dissolves.....
(1) GM: It seems quite upset. Roll for initiative as it lashes out....
(1) GM: [120+0] -> 120
(2) Kibin: [1d20+4] -> [15,4] = (19)
(1) GM: [1d20+0] -> [9,0] = (9)
(3) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [2,6] = (8)
(2) Kibin: (doh, remove that 4.)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [15,4] = (19)
(1) GM: Ah, so Jason, Kibin, Critter, Elorin.
(1) GM: Jason, seeing that the thing is probably a bit to large to grapple, casts a spell.....
(1) GM: Evervation, Level 4: 1d4 neagative levels, close ranged touch attack, no save, SR. nagative levels: [1d4] -> [3] = (3)
(1) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (base): [1d20+5] -> [5,5] = (10) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(1) GM: And misses, as the flashing dragon dives out of the way.
(1) GM: Kibin?
** (2) Kibin eeeeps. Big dragon. He gets ready to dodge any attacks, asking, "Can't we talk this out?" **
(1) GM: Flashy dragon: Bah! Such a little thing... I just hatched, and I'm bigger than you....
(1) GM: (Huge, specifically)
(1) GM: Flashing Dragon: Stupid ghost....
(2) Kibin: Yes, which is why I want to talk it out...
(1) GM: The dragon breaths a spray....
(1) GM: Pity everyone's caught in the Prismatic Spray....
(1) GM: Kibin: [1d8] -> [5] = (5) Elorin: [1d8] -> [3] = (3) Jason: [1d8] -> [1] = (1)
** (2) Kibin sobs.() **
(1) GM: For save, Kibin, Reflex, Elorin, and reflex, Jason.
(3) Elorin: Reflex save: [1d20+19] -> [15,19] = (34)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [10,11] = (21)
(1) GM: Reflex save: [1d20+12] -> [20,12] = (32)
(1) GM: Incorporeal miss chance: 50 or less misses [1d100] -> [58] = (58)
(2) Kibin: (so much for a peaceful solution...)
(1) GM: Elorin - Success; if you are wearing that ring of evasion, no electrical damage for you.
(1) GM: Kibin - failure. You are now stoned.
(1) GM: Jason: Success, but hit; take 10 points of fire damage.
(1) GM: [1d4] -> [4] = (4)
(1) GM: Elorin?
(3) Elorin: (um, I'm really not too sure I'd have my weapons with me here)
(2) Kibin: (PEACEFUL SOLUTION! :P)
(1) GM: (Oh, nobody minded you walking around armed... all the spellcasters are....)
(3) Elorin: (hmm, ok then)
(1) GM: (with spell rather than blade, granted.....)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Divine Power ( level 4, "You gain attack bonus, +6 to Str, and 1 hp/level" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) GM: Jason's turn.....
(1) GM: He tries again with the black ray....
(1) GM: Evervation, Level 4: 1d4 neagative levels, close ranged touch attack, no save, SR. nagative levels: [1d4] -> [3] = (3)
(1) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (base): [1d20+5] -> [13,5] = (18) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(1) GM: And hits!
(1) GM: Kibin's too stoned to do anything....
(1) GM: So the dragon takes a few swipes at the ghost....
(2) Kibin: (Wow, wicked colors...)
(2) Kibin: (And...)
(1) GM: Bite [1d20+30] -> [13,30] = (43) for [2d8] -> [4,6] = (10), Claw [1d20+25] -> [2,25] = (27) for [2d6] -> [1,1] = (2) and again [1d20+25] -> [11,25] = (36) [2d6] -> [6,4] = (10) plus Wing [1d20+25] -> [13,25] = (38) for [1d8] -> [4] = (4) and again [1d20+25] -> [6,25] = (31) for [1d8] -> [2] = (2) followed by a tail slap at [1d20+25] -> [11,25] = (36) for [2d6] -> [6,3] = (9)
(3) Elorin: (does that include the penalty for Enervation?)
(1) GM: No, no it doesn't... re-rolling....
(1) GM: FOrgot caster level check....
(1) GM: [1d20+13] -> [2,13] = (15)
(1) GM: Which failed. Sigh....
(1) GM: Jason's AC is 32.... so four possible hits....
(1) GM: [4d100] -> [85,16,54,65] = (220)
(1) GM: One of which misses.... [10+4+9] -> 23
(1) GM: Elorin?
(3) Elorin: (this obviously is beyond trying to resolve peacefully, so...)
(3) Elorin: (+5 to hit from Divine Power)
(2) Kibin: (...)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+31] -> [2,31] = (33)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [6,6,1,17,0] = (30)

(2) Kibin: (oh. two hits tehen.)
(1) GM: AC 35, Holy does not apply...
(2) Kibin: (since I'm out of this combat, I'll help the GM.)
(1) GM: Three hits, [27+18+25] -> 70 damage dealt.
(3) Elorin: [30+23+28-6-1-3-2-2-1] -> 66

(2) Kibin: (wouldn't the second one hit too, then?)
(3) Elorin: (natural 1)
(2) Kibin: (Oh yeah.)
(1) GM: Congrats! You just finished copying spells in time to meet up with an escaped dragon flashing in all the colors of the rainbow....
(1) GM: Roll for initiative.

(4) Kaylin: (I wonder if I have, by some miracle, the list of spells prepared last week)
(1) GM: Kaylin?
(4) Kaylin: (nope, wonderful.)
(1) GM: Well... in that case, you prepared spells at some point while scribing in the quick-time chamber....
(1) GM: ... if you can make a DC 25 will save.

(4) Kaylin: (whee)
(2) Kibin: (Now can you do a bit of spell dumping? :P)
(4) Kaylin: (is anyone in the way of an area effect?)
(1) GM: Jason, Elorin, and Kibin were going towards the source of the disturbance when it walked through the wall (dissolving a section of the wall) and so are quite close, a mere 10 feet or so away.
(2) Kibin: (Don't mind me, I'm just a block of stone...)
(1) GM: Kaylin, however, walked in afterwards, and is... oh... 80 feet away.

(1) GM: Kaylin?
(2) Kibin: (I really wanted a peaceful solution... dragon between dragon :P)
(3) Elorin: (I suggest casting defensively)
(1) GM: (silly Jason, firing first.....)
(2) Kibin: (I suggest using a level 8 save-or-die effect.)
(2) Kibin: (We're bound to get lucky one day or another.)

(2) Kibin (whispering): The old man should get a turn :P
(4) Kaylin: (/me casts finger of death on DM)
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Stone to Flesh ( level 6, "Restores petrified creature." )
(4) Kaylin: (er.)

(2) Kibin: (Don
(1) GM: Kibin is 70 feet away.....
(2) Kibin: (Don't you mean flesh to stone?)
(4) Kaylin: (oh well, that works too.)
(4) Kaylin: (yes, I did mean FtS)
(4) Kaylin: (stupid things don't change title much)
(4) Kaylin: (well, Kibin, you're back in the fight.)
(4) Kaylin: (I'll do the other stuff later)
(1) GM: Kibin's in range; Kibin, make a fort save.
(2) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [15,11] = (26)
(1) GM: Success; you survive the process.
(2) Kibin: (survive the process?!?)
(4) Kaylin: (DC is 15 for that)
(1) GM: "This spell restores a petrified creature to its normal state, restoring life and goods. The creature must make a DC 15 Fortitude save to survive the process. Any petrified creature, regardless of size, can be restored."
(2) Kibin: (Ah. If that killed me, I would have vengance on Kaylin as a ghost...)
(4) Kaylin: (well, you could be a statue if you wanted)
(1) GM: I imagine you don't want to try the fort save to stay stone.....
(2) Kibin: (I just want the dragon to stop attacking! :P)
(4) Kaylin: (then chomp it!)
(2) Kibin: (Haha.)
(1) GM: Kibin - your turn...
(1) GM: Kaylin - do you have a weapon to threaten?
(2) Kibin: (I don't suppose I'd have IC knowledge of the AC of him...)
(3) Elorin: (she's got the Monk's Belt)
(1) GM: Hmm... that will do....
(4) Kaylin: (I have a 1d8 unarmed strike? and probably a dagger at my belt.)
(2) Kibin: (Because it's impossible to hit me without a critical. :P)
(2) Kibin: (hit him*)
(1) GM: Well, up to you what you try....
(3) Elorin: (you got stoned before anyone tried a non-touch attack on it)
(1) GM: Although you might know you'd have a hard time getting your claws to sink into that hide....
** (2) Kibin looks over for the old man, wondering why he doesn't help... Then tries to attack the dragon in a vital spot, for what good it will do. **
(2) Kibin: (+5 to AC from expertise.)
(2) Kibin: (but -5 to hit...)
(3) Elorin: (as if that penalty matters...)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+13-5] -> [4,13,-5] = (12)
(2) Kibin: (Yeah.)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+8-5] -> [8,8,-5] = (11)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+8-5] -> [4,8,-5] = (7)
(2) Kibin: (See? Hardly even close.)
(1) GM: You were 60 feet away; move and attack, you get one.
** (2) Kibin mutters, "I miss my magical weapon..." **
(1) GM: Which missed.....
(2) Kibin: (Bah, and gain an AoO?)
(2) Kibin: (Oh wait, charge. Nevermind.)
(1) GM: Critter's turn again.....
(1) GM: It focuses on the dangerous spellcaster....

(2) Kibin: (Kaylin is dead :P)
(4) Kaylin: (bleh. dead)
(3) Elorin: (really, going by anything resembling an aggro system, it should be charging me)
(4) Kaylin: (/me wonders how far into the negatives she is..)
(1) GM: Really? Hmm.... [14+16+8+11+12+12] -> 73
(2) Kibin: (See? Ouch. :P)
(4) Kaylin: (hah, only at -42 HP)
(1) GM: At what point do you drop? It gets to avoid wasting attacks, and turns on the littler pest after you fall.
(4) Kaylin: (I'm going to hunt down those students and shove their staffs where the sun don't shine.. :D)
(3) Elorin: (that choice of targets really doesn't make any sense to me)
(4) Kaylin: (the attack just before "Plus Wing" takes me to -7)
(3) Elorin: (she has yet to prove she's particularly dangerous to it, while I've done pretty near 200 damage, I think)
(2) Kibin: (I'm a pest? Ha.)
(1) GM: So the rest to Kibin, then....
(2) Kibin: (38 AC...)
(1) GM: Two hit: [11+12] -> 23
(2) Kibin: (Ow. And how much non-lethal damage do I have?)
(1) GM: 30....
(3) Elorin: (didn't the angel heal 9?)
(1) GM: Ah, no - there was some healing.... 21.
(2) Kibin: (A total of 44 damage for unconsciousness, then.)
(2) Kibin: (Still awake, though.)
(1) GM: Elorin?
(4) Kaylin: (ah yes, by "drop" did you mean unconcious or dead?)
(3) Elorin: (-7 is unconscious)
(3) Elorin: (you're dead at -10)
(1) GM: Unconscious. -7 isn't dead yet.
(2) Kibin: (Yeah. You're dead in about... 18 seconds unless Elorin stablizes you.)
(1) GM: Although you do need to roll a stability check each time your turn comes around or take another point of damage.
(4) Kaylin: (ok.)
(3) Elorin: (really quick assessment, how badly hurt does the dragon seem?)
(1) GM: Int check?
(3) Elorin: (would that be int, or wisdom?)
(2) Kibin: (You're comprehending new information, so intelligence.)
(1) GM: Int - you are trying to figure out just how bad the injuries are to an unfamiliar creature; Wis would be spotting pre-existing wounds.
(3) Elorin: (I think it's one of the applications of the Heal skill, which is wisdom based)
(4) Kaylin: (tell me it's not only our cleric still fighting. Tell me it isn't so.)
(2) Kibin: (I'm still fighting, but I'm probally going to run...)
(3) Elorin: Int check: [1d20+0] -> [8,0] = (8)
(1) GM: (It isn't so - Kibin is still standing ... barely.... and Jason is floating around as well)
(4) Kaylin: (could you stabilse me before you run please?)
whispering to Elorin, you don't think he could again sustain the wounds he's taken.
(2) Kibin: (What do you mean barely? I have 72 HP.)
(3) Elorin: (and this "cleric" is no slouch at turning things into pincushions...)
(1) GM: (Ah.)
** (3) Elorin hopes Kaylin can hang on just a little longer **
(1) GM: Your turn, Kibin.

(1) GM: AC 35... looks right.
(2) Kibin: (Suck it up, you still got 15 or so seconds of life in you.)
(1) GM: Jason's turn....
(3) Elorin: (Kibin, you could grab her necklace of prayer beads and use the cure serious wounds ability...)
(1) GM: And he sees about using Telekenisis to Bind Kaylin's wounds.... as he can't do much useful otherwise....
(1) GM: Heal Skill Check: [1d20+2] -> [13,2] = (15)
(1) GM: And makes his check!
(4) Kaylin: (sweet)
(2) Kibin: (Sure, open myself up to an AoO.0

(1) GM: So it's Kibin's turn.
** (2) Kibin steps back, and retreat. And tries and find the old man... **
(1) GM: Withdrawl?
(2) Kibin: (Yup.)
** (4) Kaylin pretends to be dead. Hopefully the dragon won't try to eat **
(1) GM: Doesn't really work... he has better range, and it's only the first square that doesn't count as threatened.....

(1) GM: Technically, Combat Expertiese only applies when taking the attack or full attack... which means not here.
(2) Kibin: (Aw.)
(3) Elorin: (technically, I think you have to attack to use that...)
(2) Kibin: (:(
(1) GM: I'm guessing hit for 18, then....
(3) Elorin: (attack the ground, maybe? :P)
(3) Elorin: (or attack the dragon once, then run)
(2) Kibin: (Hehe.)
(1) GM: In which case, you can't get 200 feet away with a Withdrawl....
(1) GM: Although you can take a snap at him....
(1) GM: Retroactively, as it's still your turn.
(1) GM: If you roll, and only go the hundred feet.
(2) Kibin: (Nah, I run. :P)
(1) GM: And soak the damage.
(1) GM: The critter, seeing as how there's only one opponent worth mentioning, charges over right next to the archer and attacks...
(1) GM: Bite [1d20+32] -> [5,32] = (37) for [2d8+9] -> [2,5,9] = (16)
(2) Kibin: (How much damage do I have now?)
(3) Elorin: (that's a hit, just barely)
(3) Elorin: (takes out my temporary hp from Divine Power)
(1) GM: Let's see... 21 nonleathal, 18 from the AoO, and 23 from the attacks that didn't kill Kaylin.
(1) GM: So 62, total.
(2) Kibin: (Okay, so I'm limping away.)
(1) GM: And it's Elorin's turn.
(3) Elorin: (hmm, charge has to stop the instant it's close enough to hit...)
(3) Elorin: ("First, you must move to the closest space from which you can attack the opponent.")
(3) Elorin: (5 ft. step back and shoot)
(1) GM: Hmm... oh well.
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+31] -> [12,31] = (43)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [4,3,4,17,0] = (28)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+31] -> [14,31] = (45)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [2,3,2,17,0] = (24)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 3) Attack Roll: [1d20+26] -> [3,26] = (29)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [3,5,2,17,0] = (27)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 4) Attack Roll: [1d20+21] -> [6,21] = (27)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [3,1,3,17,0] = (24)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 5) Attack Roll: [1d20+16] -> [9,16] = (25)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [5,3,5,17,0] = (30)
(2) Kibin: (Yeah, so it has to charge again if it wants to use claws.)
(3) Elorin: [28+24-3-4-3-2] -> 40
(1) GM: Three hits, 40 damage, DR does not apply.... and the dragon collapses, dead, on the second arrow.
(3) Elorin: "phew"
** (3) Elorin dashes over to Kaylin **
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
** (2) Kibin limps back over to the group. "Ow, ow, ow..." **
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(4) Kaylin: (seriously, the first one was enough)
(4) Kaylin: (3x more than my maxHP :D)
(3) Elorin: (the second was for Kibin)
(2) Kibin: (Yeah, that's kind of like sand-blasting a soup cracker.)
(4) Kaylin: (ah)
** (2) Kibin says to Elorin, "Thank you..." **
(1) GM: Jason walks over, flapping a little in the lack of a breeze....
(4) Kaylin: (interesting metaphor)
** (2) Kibin looks around to see who was watching. **
(1) GM: Jason: Well, that's different.
** (4) Kaylin kicks the dragon's head **
(1) GM: You see a bunch of grey and black robes working buisiliy away with knives to skin the dragon.
** (2) Kibin freezes Kaylin again. **
(4) Kaylin: (wrong dragon)
(2) Kibin: (oh, nevermind, then.)
(1) GM: Jason: That's not nice.....
(3) Elorin: You don't look to well, Jason
(3) Elorin: (*too)
(2) Kibin: (Thought I was the dragon :P)
(1) GM: Jason: I'll recover. I always recover.....
(4) Kaylin: (nah, then it'd be /me kicks Kibin)
(1) GM: Jason: Hmm... Kibin, do you have that ring of Spell Storing handy?
(2) Kibin: You know, if that negative energy spell healed you, might one of Elorin's damaging spells heal you?
(1) GM: Jason: It didn't heal... and yes, that's what I'm thinking, although if you still have that ring, we can make it work fairly easily.
(1) GM: Jason: It just fortified me a bit.
(3) Elorin: Depends. How powerful a spell can that ring hold?
(2) Kibin: It held about three shields for me.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, that's not what I'm thinking....
(1) GM: Spectral Hand, Level 2: Forms a ghostly hand to deliver low-level touch spells; has 1d4 hp, taken from caster [1d4] -> [3] = (3)
(1) GM: If I put another of these in the ring, you can then use it to channel at me much more reliably.
(2) Kibin: No, I don't have the ring of spell storing handy, I thought we sold it.
(1) GM: Jason: Drat.
(1) GM: Jason: Ah well; a few nights rest and I'll be fine... Hmm.....
(4) Kaylin: Is this something I might offer my assistance with?
** (2) Kibin looks down at his claws. "I wonder if I can get my claws enchanted like weapons.." **
(1) GM: Jason: think someone might have left the crafting portal is open?
(1) GM: Jason: Probably, although you'd need to talk with a nature-follower.
(2) Kibin: Ack, not another druid....
(4) Kaylin: I could do it for you, though a druid would be more skilled.
(2) Kibin: Yes...
(3) Elorin: (Derrel still has the Ring of Blinking, though I don't think Elorin would think of it with no Knowledge (Arcana)...)
(1) GM: Jason goes etherial, and sneaks into the crafting portal....
(1) GM: A few rounds later, having gotten a great deal of rest, he comes back out....
(2) Kibin: Hmmm, wonder if I could stay in that portal a thousand years or so, bringing food.
(1) GM: .... looking much better.
(1) GM: Jason: I wouldn't reccomened it. Dreary place. Fits my mood at times, though.
(2) Kibin: Meh, maybe you're right.
(4) Kaylin: It's a fun place if you've brought books along.
** (2) Kibin looks around for that old man... **
(1) GM: And finds him, chastising the students who let the egg hatch.
** (4) Kaylin walks over behind him **
** (4) Kaylin glares at the students and pretends to be intimidating **
(1) GM: Old Man: Now now, you know you are supposed to make sure such things don't hatch before the butchers get here!
(2) Kibin: What, no helping us with the dragon that went on a rampage and nearly killed our wizard...
(1) GM: Old Man: Funny... she doesn't look dead.
(2) Kibin: Yeah, we have a good healer.
(4) Kaylin: See? Priests are useful sometimes.
(1) GM: Unlike two of the students lying on the floor a little ways off....
(3) Elorin: She was pretty close to it before I got to her
(4) Kaylin: Uhoh.
(4) Kaylin: Hope those two can be brought back.
(3) Elorin: Oh
(2) Kibin: Wait, you were hatching that dragon just to kill it?
(4) Kaylin: "butchers"?
(1) GM: Old Man: For the hide, and the teeth, and the bones; yes. Useful for certain things.
(2) Kibin: You know dragons are intelligent...
** (4) Kaylin doesn't comment **
(1) GM: Old Man: Yeah, but they are so useful... and you saw what that one did the moment it got loose... needed killing anyway.
(3) Elorin: (hmm, Prismatic Spray cast with a special component from a Prismatic Dragon's body...)
(4) Kaylin: (ooh, nice idea)
(3) Elorin: (if the GM allows such things, that could be quite powerful)
(1) GM: Old Man: Although these students will need to fix the wall....
** (2) Kibin sighs. **
(1) GM: The students shrug, pull out little blocks of granite, and then cast at where the wall was.... replacing it in just a few seconds.
(1) GM: ... and the little blocks of granite dissapear from their hands.
** (2) Kibin blinks. "I need to learn how to do that..." **
(1) GM: Old Man: If you last long enough, you just might, what with your current form.
(3) Elorin: (take enough dragon hit dice, and you will)
(2) Kibin: (be quiet :P)
** (2) Kibin is confused. **
(1) GM: Old Man: Well, are you ready to be shown the route in and out?
(2) Kibin: Why not?
(2) Kibin: Of course, we could stay here a while longer...
(3) Elorin: First, what's going to happen with those two dead students?
(1) GM: Instructor: Great! Although your friends will need to be blindfolded....
(1) GM: Old Man: Oh, they'll be back; the medical department will charge them a fortune, and they will be quite shaken up about it for a while, but they should recover.
** (2) Kibin hmmms. It will be interesting to see how they do it... **
(2) Kibin: (Blindsense is cool :P)
(2) Kibin: How much?
(1) GM: Old Man: Oh, depends on what the medic manages to wrangle out of the Called critter. A lot.
(1) GM: Old Man: It varies from day to day.
(5) Lae'nial (enter): 12:37
(2) Kibin: Our priest could probally do it for cheaper...
(5) Lae'nial: (Hello)
(1) GM: A moment later, a few people walk in, toss the bodies roughly on some floating disks of force, and take them away.
(2) Kibin: (You just missed us fighting an epic dragon!)
(1) GM: Greetings Narf.
(5) Lae'nial: (Sorry, won't be able to stay for long - Forgot I had an appointment)
(3) Elorin: (only the type was epic, not the individual dragon)
(3) Elorin: (Wyrmling Prismatic is only CR 14)
(2) Kibin: (Yup.)
(5) Lae'nial: (Yaay for you)
(1) GM: Old Man: Ah, but the price will do them good.
(3) Elorin: (which is pretty darn impressive for a mere wyrmling, of course, but still...)
(1) GM: Old Man: Ready to go?
** (3) Elorin is content with the existing arrangement for the students **
** (2) Kibin wonders again how they'll blindfold him. "Sure." **
(3) Elorin: Yes
(1) GM: Instructor: Great! Kaylin, you stand here, next to me, and the rest of you need to group together over there.
** (2) Kibin groups over there. Weee. **
(1) GM: The old man points to a spot a ways off.
(1) GM: Jason blithly steps into the indicated spot.
** (5) Lae'nial groups over there. **
** (3) Elorin goes to the indicated spot **
(1) GM: Old Man: Great!
** (5) Derrel groups over there ans the laws of physics take over. Derrel groups over there ans the laws of physics take over. **
(5) Derrel: (Tired)
(1) GM: The old man casts a spell....
(5) Derrel: (Sorry)
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [19,18] = (37)
(1) GM: And a shimmering globe of opaque force surrounds Derrel, Kibin, Jason, and Elorin.
whispering to Elorin, a simple variant on Telekenetic Sphere, which makes it opaque.
(2) Kibin: Oh, so that's how.
(1) GM: Anyone trying for a reflex save?
(3) Elorin: (no)
** (2) Kibin sees to see if he can get out before it forms. **
(2) Kibin: [1d20+15] -> [2,15] = (17)
(2) Kibin: (stupid low saves.)
(1) GM: And can't.
(1) GM: After everyone is all nice and bottled up....
** (2) Kibin hits the side of the wall of force with a thud. **
(2) Kibin: Hmmph
whispering to Kaylin, the old man shows you a room off in the further reaches of the compound with a very high cieling, and points out some faint lines on the floor, the pushes the globe of force into it, and it vanishes. He then walks you through, and shows you where a patch of cliff cieling out in the driving snow is actually an illusionary passage, leading to a smaller room with a similar circle on the ground.
(4) Kaylin: (back, sorry I had to go, phone call)
(1) GM: Back out in the snow, quite a ways away from the tower, the old man dismisses the sphere, and everyone drops into the freezing cold of a minor snowstorm.
** (2) Kibin lands softly on the snow. **
(2) Kibin: Aw, why couldn't you have used a cloth blindfold?
(1) GM: Old Man: Cause I know about dragons.
(3) Elorin: Because they know that wouldn't do much on you?
(2) Kibin: Meh.
(1) GM: Old Man: Well, I need to be going; make sure to follow the instructions in the book; most days, it usually requires you to cast a pair of extended Prestidigitations and follow some seemingly mindless exercise. Don't worry, there is a point to them.
** (2) Kibin rubs his nose where he hit the side of the sphere. **
(1) GM: [1d6] -> [2] = (2)
(4) Kaylin: Excellent. Thank you so much for everything
(1) GM: Take two points of claw damage on your sensitive nose.
(1) GM: The old man nods, and without moving a finger or making a sound, vanishes from sight.
whispering to Kibin, and from blindsight.
(4) Kaylin: (nice.)
(2) Kibin (whispering): And blindsense?
whispering to Kibin, yep, blindsense too
(4) Kaylin: (still AND silent spell...)
** (2) Kibin places his paw back on the ground. Okay, let's not do that again... **
(4) Kaylin: Hey, it was fun, right? Got to spend some quality time with books?
(2) Kibin: Yeah, if you like getting stoned twice, and being surrounded by a wall of fire...
(3) Elorin: Your duel was certainly entertaining, if a bit dangerous
(2) Kibin: Wonder where they got the dragon egg...
(4) Kaylin: Getting turned to stone is probably something I need to get used to in this pursuit of knowledge.
(1) GM: You hear a roar in the background....
(1) GM: It sounds... mournful....
(4) Kaylin: (smooth, Old Man)
(2) Kibin: Nevermind.
(1) GM: Kaylin - what spells do you have up at the moment?
(1) GM: Including Permanent ones.
** (5) Derrel tries to pinpoint the sound. **
(4) Kaylin: (See Invisibility, Comprehend Languages, that's it.)
(5) Derrel: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+1] -> [19,1] = (20)
whispering to Derrel, Miles away.
whispering to Kaylin, make a caster level check.
(2) Kibin: Huh, Derrel is the only one here without an abnormally long lifespan...
(4) Kaylin (whispering): [1d20 + 15] -> [12,15] = (27)
(4) Kaylin: Excuse me? Abnormally?
(2) Kibin: Yes, don't elves live a lot longer than humans?
(4) Kaylin: Simply because elvish people have the sense not to die rapidly makes us abnormal?
(2) Kibin: And kobolds, for that matter.
(5) Derrel: "The sounds is miles away."
** (3) Elorin tries to verify this statement **
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [14,10] = (24)
whispering to Elorin, yep; long, long ways off.
** (2) Kibin listens too, with his much more sensitive ears. **
(2) Kibin: [1d20+17] -> [13,17] = (30)
whispering to Kibin, miles away.
(2) Kibin: Yup, it's far away.
(1) GM: Oh, and Derrel - make a will save, at -10.
(2) Kibin: Anyway... back to the wagon?
(3) Elorin: (we need to get you a ring of sustenance so you can stand watch with me for all those listen and spot checks)
(5) Derrel: Will save: [1d20+8] -> [7,8] = (15)
(1) GM: Jason, make a will save.
(2) Kibin: (Hey, everyone is here, perfect time for sorcerer to make an appearnace...)
(1) GM: Will save: [1d20+13] -> [1,13] = (14)
(1) GM: You see an image appear.....
(2) Kibin: Oh, hi again, been a while before I've seen you.
(4) Kaylin: (phantasmal killer!)
(4) Kaylin: (that'd be funny.)
(1) GM: Sorceror: Give me the word, Ghost.....
** (2) Kibin waves at the image with his clawed hand. **
(2) Kibin: (Foot, whatever.)
(1) GM: Anyone care to make a Sense Motive check on Jason?
(4) Kaylin: who's this clown?
(3) Elorin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+8] -> [19,8] = (27)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [3,11] = (14)
(5) Derrel: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+1] -> [13,1] = (14)
(2) Kibin: (hehe, got a few ranks in it :P)
whispering to Elorin, Seem's he's under the influence of some form of controlling spell.....
(2) Kibin: (And I made a horrible roll...)
(1) GM: Jason, annoyingly obedient, speaks.....
(1) GM: And says a word that is everything, and nothing, simultaneously....
(4) Kaylin: Good enough for me.
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Dimensional Anchor ( level 4, "Bars extradimensional movement." )
(1) GM: Make will saves, everyone....
(1) GM: Touch attack roll?
(2) Kibin: (For what?)
** (3) Elorin attempts to dispel the spell controlling Jason **
(5) Derrel: Will save: [1d20+8] -> [11,8] = (19)
(4) Kaylin: Ranged Touch Attack Roll: [1d20+8] -> [8,8] = (16)===> DMG: [0+0] -> 0
(3) Elorin: (any chance I can do that before he speaks?)
(1) GM: The word rips at the very fabrick of your mind.....
(2) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [20,11] = (31)
(2) Kibin: (Sweet.)
(1) GM: Nah, he got a surprise round.....
(3) Elorin: Will save: [1d20+22] -> [14,22] = (36)
(4) Kaylin: Will save: [1d20+17] -> [15,17] = (32)
(2) Kibin: (Of course, if it's the blasphemy, then I'm immune to the paralyzation. :P)
(4) Kaylin: (yay team elf)
(1) GM: Kaylin - you find that the image is illusionary....
(1) GM: Will save DC 30 - Derrel and Kibin - you lost; sorry; you find yourselves back at the place of your birth.
(1) GM: Elorin and Kaylin, however, manage to stick around.
(5) Derrel: (Huh?)
(1) GM: Roll vs. Initiative.
(4) Kaylin: Initiative: [1d20 + 6] -> [14,6] = (20)
(2) Kibin: (Where exactly would the place of my birth be?)
(3) Elorin: (Kibin got a natural 20)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [5,4] = (9)
(3) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [3,6] = (9)
(1) GM: Ah, right... just Derrel is gone, then.
(2) Kibin: (YAY! :P)
(2) Kibin: [1d20] -> [12] = (12)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+3] -> [11,3] = (14)
(4) Kaylin: (that wasn't nice :D)
(2) Kibin: (dang it, don't we get to talk :P)
(1) GM: Jason and Elorin - tie - re-roll.
(3) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [1,6] = (7)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [5,4] = (9)
(1) GM: Kaylin, Sorceror, Kibin, Jason, Elorin
(1) GM: Kaylin?
(2) Kibin: (Kaylin! Own his low fortitude rolls!)
(4) Kaylin: (isn't this an illusion?)
(1) GM: The one you see, yes.
(2) Kibin: (Dang it. I want to talk to him :P)
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Dispel Magic ( level 3, "Cancels magical spells and effects." )
(1) GM: On?
(2) Kibin: (Comeon lucky roll. :P)
(4) Kaylin: (the illusion)
(1) GM: caster level check?
(4) Kaylin: [1d20 + 10] -> [3,10] = (13)
(4) Kaylin: (hmmph)
(2) Kibin: (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!)
(1) GM: Dispel check, so limited to +10... and failure.
(1) GM: The image of the Sorceror speaks: Kill them, ghost.
(1) GM: You then hear a spell cast....
(4) Kaylin: (what did you mean by "one you see"?)
(4) Kaylin: (swearword)
(1) GM: (the caster level check earlier wasn't meaningless)
(4) Kaylin: (ah.)
(1) GM: Anyone care to try to id the spell?
(1) GM: The one you heard, that is.
(4) Kaylin: (me!)
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [3,18] = (21)
(4) Kaylin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+31] -> [14,31] = (45)
(2) Kibin: (I don't think saves succede on natural 20, btw.)
(4) Kaylin: (by the way, what spells couldn't I identify automatically?)
whispering to Elorin, you don't recognize it, by the way....
whispering to Kaylin, oh, you can get it automatically, but this one's Greater Teleport.
(1) GM: Kibin, your turn.
(2) Kibin: (Oh wait, it is.)
** (2) Kibin glances back and forth between the two. Okay, two illusions, no magic weapons. Since Kibin has no use in this battle, he flies away. **
(1) GM: Only one illusion.
(2) Kibin: (Yeah, but still. Nothing I can do.)
(3) Elorin: (you could let us know where the non-illusion is)
(1) GM: You see: Kibin, image of the sorceror, Kaylin, Jason, and Elorin.
(3) Elorin: (by attacking it)
(2) Kibin: (If Jason is on the etheral plane, I can't use blindsense with him.)
whispering to Kibin, also, nothing in range of your blindsense - you can tell it's illusiory.
whispering to Kibin, the Sorceror's image, anyway.
(2) Kibin: (In fact, I can't sense Jason at all, since he's not material...)
(1) GM: Oh, forgot Jason's will save to avoid being sent to the place of his birth... or death, in his case....
(1) GM: Will save: [1d20+13] -> [20,13] = (33)
(2) Kibin: (I'm confused.)
(4) Kaylin: (what the heck does that, anyways?)
(3) Elorin: (the Word)
(1) GM: (DM fiat on a Word of Power)
(2) Kibin: (In case it matters, I'm about 400 feet away.)
(3) Elorin: (why?)
(4) Kaylin: (ah.)
(1) GM: Jason's turn....
(3) Elorin: (if you can sense where the invisible sorcerer is, it would greatly help the rest of us it you would let us know that information)
(2) Kibin: (I kinda wanted to see what it sends me. To a dragons cave, or what :P)
(1) GM: Ghost Telekenesis: Manuvers: Standard Action, Concentration: Combat Manuvers (Disarm, Trip, Grapple (Pin), Bull Rush) 12 rounds; +12 for Base Attack, +Cha Mod (10) for dex/str due to method), Wait: [1d4] -> [3] = (3)
(2) Kibin: (Well, the DM didn't say anything, so I guess not. It's just an illusion, after all...)
(1) GM: Elorin: Touch attack: [1d20+22] -> [4,22] = (26) and Hold grapple check [1d20+22] -> [11,22] = (33)
(1) GM: Opposed roll?
(2) Kibin: (Hey, don't they need me? :P)
(3) Elorin: (that's base attack + strength, right?)
(2) Kibin: (So why not grapple me...)
(1) GM: Plus size modifiers, and any feats.....
(1) GM: Or Escape Artist, as you are defending.
(3) Elorin: (any luck or morale bonuses to attack rolls?)
(1) GM: Also, Jason walks upwards, into the sky....
(1) GM: It's a grapple check, not an attack roll, sorry.
(3) Elorin: [1d20+11+2] -> [14,11,2] = (27)
(1) GM: Sorry, 33 beats 27 by a long shot.
(1) GM: Elorin - you're grappled.
(1) GM: ... and it's your turn.
(2) Kibin (whispering): (Might be interesting to see where the sorcerer lives...)
(1) GM: Elorin?
(2) Kibin (whispering): (Hmmm, I just realized that by moving away, I'm an easy target for the sorcerer to teleport to me, then teleport me away...
(3) Elorin: (I don't think I have any spells that would be useful here that don't have a somatic component)
(1) GM: Spontaneous caster - if you took still spell, you can use it.
(3) Elorin: (nope)
(3) Elorin: (hmm, can Greater Command target non-living creatures?)
(4) Kaylin: (by the way, is that image Project Image?)
(3) Elorin: (Command has to be living, but Greater Command just says 1 creature/level)
(4) Kaylin: (oh wait, the image is gone)
whispering to Kaylin, nope; seems to be the results of a Mislead spell
(1) GM: Image still present.
(4) Kaylin (whispering): I can see invisibility though
(1) GM: Trying something, Elorin? Like an opposed grapple check to get out?
(1) GM: Kaylin - make a Knoweledge(Arcane) check.
(4) Kaylin: Knowledge: Arcana Skill Check: [1d20+24] -> [19,24] = (43)
(4) Kaylin: (yay)
whispering to Kaylin, you cann think of a spell that would prevent See Invisible from Seeing something invisible - Nondetection.
(3) Elorin: (you haven't answered me about Greater Command)
whispering to Kaylin, although it's a bit of a contest on the abilities of the two casters involved..
(1) GM: It doesn't require that the target be living, just a creature.
(4) Kaylin (whispering): Clever.
** (3) Elorin tries to get Jason out of the fight **
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Greater Command ( level 5, "As command, but affects one subject/level" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 5 Spell ( level 5, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: "Flee"
(1) GM: And you find out, the hard way, that undead are immune to mind-affecting effects.
(3) Elorin: (oops)
(1) GM: Also - concentration check for casting in a grapple?
(2) Kibin: (So much for all that wisdom :P)
(3) Elorin: (wait, wouldn't that have made him immune to the Sorcerer's control spell?_)
(1) GM: No Knoweledge(Religion) to know about undead....
(1) GM: Necromatic spells can do that kind of thing.
(1) GM: Necromancy is on top of commanding undead.
(1) GM: Elorin - concentration check? (not that it really matters too much....)
(1) GM: DC 20 + spell level.
(3) Elorin: Concentration Skill Check: [1d20+20] -> [1,20] = (21)
(1) GM: Ah, so you don't find out it doesn't work on Jason quite yet, as you can't get it off.
(4) Kaylin: (ouch)
(1) GM: Kaylin?
(3) Elorin: (if it's Command Undead, the Sorcerer still has to make an opposed charisma check)
(4) Kaylin: (make your knowledge roll now, Mr. Priest :P)
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Feeblemind ( level 5, "Targets Int and Cha drop to 1, and cannot cast arcane spells." )
(1) GM: (Control, sorry...)
(4) Kaylin: (sorry.)
(2) Kibin: (Um, has Kaylin gotten a brain spasm too?)
(4) Kaylin: (er.)
(4) Kaylin: (yes)
(1) GM: And Kaylin finds out, the hard way, that undead are immune to mind-affecting effects.
(4) Kaylin: (but I'm not religious. so bah)
(2) Kibin: (Lookie at all the brain spasms.)
(1) GM: The sorceror's image mindlessly repeats the order to kill them to jason....
(1) GM: Kibin?
(1) GM: Or are you running more?
** (2) Kibin continues zooming away, sitting on a hill to watch the battle since he can't do much. **
(1) GM: At 800 feet?
(2) Kibin: (Yup.)
(3) Elorin: (why do you keep saying you can't do much?)
(1) GM: Jason's turn....
(2) Kibin: (It's kind of far away. :P)
(2) Kibin: (Okay. Tell me. What can I do?)
(3) Elorin: (you have blindsense, you have paralyzation breath)
(1) GM: He attempts to Pin, no speaking, Elorin, and advances on Kaylin....
(2) Kibin: (Blindsense won't do anything, paralyzation breath is useless against jason AND the image...)_
(3) Elorin: (if we know where the Sorcerer actually is, we can start trying to attack him)
(1) GM: Pin: [1d20+22] -> [14,22] = (36)
(1) GM: Elorin: Your opposed roll?
(3) Elorin: [1d20+11+2] -> [3,11,2] = (16)
(5) Derrel: (Gotta go, bye)
(1) GM: Have fun; sorry you couldn't stay....
(5) Derrel: Disconnecting from server...
(5) Derrel (exit): 13:32
(4) Kaylin: (dangit, it would have been helpful to have a Holy person against Jason...)
(1) GM: Kaylin - jason is now floating just five feet from you, concentrating on Pinning Elorin....
(1) GM: Elorin - you're pinned, and unable to speak; so unless you have a spell to cast that requires no components, you're stuck this round.
(1) GM: Kaylin?
(3) Elorin: (I can try to break the pin)
(2) Kibin: (pins only last one round, then you have to pin them again...)
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Ethereal Jaunt ( level 7, "You become ethereal for 1 round/level." )
(1) GM: Yes, you can....
(1) GM: As an attack option, so you can try a couple of times.
(3) Elorin: [1d20+13] -> [5,13] = (18)
(3) Elorin: [1d20+8] -> [7,8] = (15)
(3) Elorin: [1d20+3] -> [16,3] = (19)
(4) Kaylin: (c'mon... rll high...)
(1) GM: [1d20+22] -> [18,22] = (40)
(1) GM: [1d20+22] -> [14,22] = (36)
(3) Elorin: (I don't think it's possible for Jason to not beat those)
(1) GM: [1d20+22] -> [13,22] = (35)
(1) GM: Okay - I rolled high for Jason. Satisfied?
(4) Kaylin: (nope :P)
(1) GM: Kaylin - you are now on the etherial plaen - doing anything with your move action?
(2) Kibin: (Wow. One fireball and Jason is dead.)
(4) Kaylin: (no, just glaring at Jason)
(2) Kibin: (Well. deader.)
(3) Elorin: (quickened attack spell on Jason?)
(2) Kibin: (Lookie at all the brain spasms.)
(4) Kaylin: (none, sorry.)
(1) GM: Jason's turn then....
(4) Kaylin: (you don't relaly prepare a combat spell list in a place of study)
(1) GM: He stops concentrating on keeping Elorin Pinned, and steps into Kaylin.....
(3) Elorin: (you do when you're about to leave)
(1) GM: Will save?
(4) Kaylin: (bugger)
(1) GM: Ghost Malevolence: Will Save DC 25 (15 + Ghost's Cha modifier) or possess subject
(4) Kaylin: Will save: [1d20+17] -> [4,17] = (21)
(4) Kaylin: (... REALLY bugger)
(2) Kibin (whispering): Hmmm. Wouldn't I count for the whole reptile thingie now?)
** (2) Kibin frowns. This isn't going too well. **
(4) Kaylin: (seriously. I mean. 4?!)
whispering to Kibin, Flying cow brigades moo overhead.....
(2) Kibin (whispering): Hmmmm?
(4) Kaylin: (this is going to be interesting..)
(1) GM: Elorin - your turn - the force holding you in place has vanished, as have Kaylin and Jason.
(1) GM: Oh, and the sorceror's image again mindlessly repeats the order for jason to kill....
(3) Elorin: (um)
(3) Elorin: (any ideas?)
(1) GM: as it fades from sight....
(1) GM: See Invisible, if it's on your list....
(4) Kaylin: (tell me you can see invisible)
(4) Kaylin: (otherwise you're screwed...)
(3) Elorin: (sorry, I was depending on other party members for dealing with invis stuff)
(4) Kaylin: (uhoh)
(1) GM: Jason hangs onto Kaylin on the etherial plane until the Jaunt wears off..... getting nice and close to Kibin....
(3) Elorin: (like Kaylin with permanent see invis and glitterdust, and Kibin with blindsense)
(1) GM: Standing right next to him, in fact.....
(2) Kibin: (Blindsense only detects material stuff. :(
** (3) Elorin runs towards Kibin **
(1) GM: Kibin - fifteen rounds after her dissapearence, Kaylin appears right next to you.
(3) Elorin: (unless you go running further)
(3) Elorin: (in which case, I Wind Walk after you)
(1) GM: ... looks at you with sad eyes, and hits you.
(1) GM: [1d20+5-1] -> [14,5,-1] = (18) for [1d8] -> [5] = (5)
(4) Kaylin: (... sad?)
(1) GM: (Jason's actions are controlled, not his feelings.....)
(7) Derrel (enter): 13:44
(2) Kibin: (If that was a touch attack, it succeded, Otherwise I easily dodge.)
(1) GM: No, normal attack.
(7) Derrel: (Appointment cancelation)
(2) Kibin: (Or, at least, It's deflected.)
(4) Kaylin: (YAY!)
(3) Elorin: (Malevolence doesn't give control over the subjects spellcasting abilities, does it?)
(4) Kaylin: (I just got posessed by psycho-jason.)
(1) GM: Ah. Derrel - it's been quire a few rounds.... Running to the nearest Magick Shoppe to hire a Teleport?
** (2) Kibin easily dodges, then withdraws to about 100 feet above Kaylin. **
(1) GM: It's been long enogh that you could show up....
(2) Kibin: (Or maybe not dodge, the blow bounces off his scales...)
(7) Derrel: (Oh. When you said 'Place of his birth', I thought you ment temporally, too. Weee, I can spell temporally, despite being half-asleep - And the other half isn't too awake, either. But I like that option better)
(1) GM: If you want to pay the.... [8*15*10] -> 1200 gold pieces twice....
(1) GM: for Greater Teleport.
(3) Elorin: (Magic Circle Against Evil (Paladin 3) would be quite useful here...)
(7) Derrel: (Why twice?)
(2) Kibin: So that's where Jason gone to...
(2) Kibin: (Derrel, because the wizard doesn't want to be stuck out here.)
(1) GM: So the spellcaster you hire to bring you back can return home.....
(7) Derrel: (Oh, ok, sure)
(2) Kibin: (So much for actually meeting the sorcerer again :(
(1) GM: Ah, sorry; 7th level spell - [7*10*13] -> 910
(1) GM: Twice.
(1) GM: [910*2] -> 1820 gp, total, for the error-free version.
(3) Elorin: (let's see, I don't remember, does the ritual need a full moon or a new moon?)
(2) Kibin: (Ritual? What the crap.)
(1) GM: Full.... which, if it weren't for the snowstorm, you could see is almost there....
(7) Derrel: (Can't affored error-free both ways)
(3) Elorin: (the Sorcerer's ultimate plan)
(2) Kibin: (Oh.)
(4) Kaylin: (hmm, do I sense trouble?)
(1) GM: Well, regular Teleport is 5th, at [5*9*10*2] -> 900 for both trips....
(1) GM: (you mean a fighter-type with poor will saves running up to combat a Controlled ghost with Malevolence around a buch of weak spellcasters? No.....)
(1) GM: (No trouble at all.... pay no attention to my evil smile.....)
(1) GM: So... can you afford a regular teleport?
(7) Derrel: (Uh...I got 3,300)
(7) Derrel: (Very easy to confuse right now)
(2) Kibin: (You have enough.)
(1) GM: Ah; 910 + 910 for two one-way of a Greater, and you're back in business.
(7) Derrel: (Ah, thanks. For which?)
(7) Derrel: (Ok, thanks, sure)
(1) GM: Or 900, and a percentile die roll....
(2) Kibin: (And what exactly does Kaylin do, with me hovering up here?)
(7) Derrel: (I also have turn undead, which is pretty much the only hope at this point)
(3) Elorin: (and having to find someone who's actually seen this place...)
(3) Elorin: (is your wisdom at least 13?)
(7) Derrel: (No die roll to end up somewhere else)
(7) Derrel: (Yep)
(1) GM: 1820 spent on Greater teleporting, then...
(3) Elorin: (You can cast Magic Circle Against Evil on yourself, then)
(1) GM: And you show up... in the middle of a snowstorm... next to Elorin.
(3) Elorin: (suppresses all mental control within 10 feet of you)
(1) GM: With the driving snow, you can't see that Kibin and Kaylin are 800 feet away.
(3) Elorin: (I said I was running towards Kibin, remember?)
(4) Kaylin: (I thought Elorin ran next to Kib)
(7) Derrel: "So, uh, any suggestions?"
(3) Elorin: Magic Circle Against Evil?
(3) Elorin: (3rd level Paladin spell)
(3) Elorin: (you should get at least 1 of those per day at this level)
(1) GM: Ah, so you got there on the 15 turn delay before Kaylin started swinging....
** (7) Derrel casts MAgic Circle Against Evil) **
(1) GM: Well... I've lost track of turns... so everyone roll for initiative again, with the long delay....
(4) Kaylin: (fear my low attack rolls and 1d8 damage)
(2) Kibin: [1d20] -> [19] = (19)
(7) Derrel: Dex check: [1d20+1] -> [4,1] = (5)
(4) Kaylin: Initiative: [1d20 + 6] -> [17,6] = (23)
(4) Kaylin: (dangit)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [5,4] = (9)
(3) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [8,6] = (14)
(1) GM: Kaylin, Kibin, Elorin, Jason, Derrel
(2) Kibin: (Kaylin, why did you say dangit?)
(4) Kaylin: (because I'm possessed?)
(2) Kibin: (Ah yes.)
(1) GM: Kaylin's still possessed at the moment....
(4) Kaylin: (don't want to go first)
(4) Kaylin: (/me goes to make a cup of tea)
(1) GM: Fortunately, you act on Jason's inititive while he's in control....
(1) GM: Kibin - your turn.
** (2) Kibin starts hovering, and goes to 150 feet above the possessed Kaylin. **
(1) GM: No Paralizing blast?
(2) Kibin: (Oh fine, I swoop down and use paralyzing blast.)
(2) Kibin: (To make a kaylinsicle.)
(2) Kibin: (Fortitude 19, I believe.)
(1) GM: Fortitude save: [1d20+9] -> [11,9] = (20)
(1) GM: Let's see... Kaylin's Fort save.... which she makes. Oh well.
(2) Kibin: (Oh sure. :P)
(1) GM: Elorin?
** (3) Elorin tries to grapple Kaylin **
(1) GM: Opposed: [1d20+5-1] -> [19,5,-1] = (23)
(1) GM: Touch attack and grapple check?
(2) Kibin: (It's 19 only if you round up the hitdie. Though>0
(3) Elorin: [1d20+20] -> [3,20] = (23) touch [1d20+13] -> [8,13] = (21) grapple
(2) Kibin: (18, sorry.)
(2) Kibin: (Holy.)
(2) Kibin: (Kaylin actually won.)
(4) Kaylin: (it's kind of weird watching myself getting attacked and not minding too much)
** (3) Elorin tries again **
(3) Elorin: [1d20+15] -> [15,15] = (30) touch [1d20+8] -> [17,8] = (25) grapple
(1) GM: Actually, Kaylin's roll would be better - using Jason's BAB....
(2) Kibin: (You do know that Kaylin gets an AoO?)
(4) Kaylin: (scary)
(1) GM: Oh, right.... [1d20+5-1] -> [1,5,-1] = (5)
(2) Kibin: (and if it hits, the grapple fails?)
(3) Elorin: (she'd have to get a natural 20 to hit me)
(1) GM: Not that THAT hit anything....
(1) GM: Opposed: [1d20+5-1] -> [2,5,-1] = (6)
(1) GM: And she's grappled. Try the thrid for a pin?
(3) Elorin: (trying to pin, now)
(2) Kibin: (And I thought it was only one grapple attempt a turn.)
(3) Elorin: [1d20+10] -> [14,10] = (24) touch [1d20+3] -> [5,3] = (8) grapple
(1) GM: Replaces an attack action - Jason, using Telekenisis, gets one per turn. Others get more.
(4) Kaylin: (where are you grappling me?)
(1) GM: Opposed: [1d20+5-1] -> [8,5,-1] = (12)
(2) Kibin: (Derrel next?)
(3) Elorin: (mouth and hands, mostly, I'd think)
(1) GM: Not pinning, though.....
(1) GM: No, Jason's turn.....
(1) GM: Fun how Telekenisis doesn't require a concentration check....
(1) GM: Ghost Telekenesis: Violent Thrust: Standard Action: Attack rolls (one per creature or object thrown) to hit target with loose items. Wait: [1d4] -> [4] = (4) rounds; attack roll: [1d20+15] -> [3,15] = (18)
(1) GM: Derrel, make a will save....
(2) Kibin: (On who, exactly?)
(7) Derrel: Will save: [1d20+8] -> [16,8] = (24)
(2) Kibin: (Oh.)
(1) GM: DC 25 - Derrel, you go flying into the grapple...
(1) GM: ranged attack, so random target - 1: Kaylin; 2: Elorin; neither gets dex vs. this.... [1d2] -> [1] = (1)
(2) Kibin: (Lol...)
(1) GM: And lets see... Derrel's in full plate, so a hard object, .... 1d6 per 25 pounds... 150 for Derrel's own mass, 50 for the plate, 15 for the heavy sheild... round up for other stuff he'd be carrying.... and [225/25] -> 9
(1) GM: Attack roll hit Kaylin's poor AC, so.... [9d6] -> [4,1,6,6,2,3,1,4,3] = (30)
(1) GM: to Kaylin.
(4) Kaylin: (ow.)
(2) Kibin: (My turn?)
(3) Elorin: (Derrel's turn now)
(1) GM: No, Derrel's turn.
(7) Derrel: (Magic Circle Against Evil)
(1) GM: Yes, and Jason's Control of Kaylin is suppressed while you are in range.
(7) Derrel: (Cast it, I mean. I don't have a right-click)
(1) GM: Oh, by the way - Derrel - you take 1 point of damage, as Kaylin is a soft target....
(2) Kibin: [1d4] -> [2] = (2)
(2) Kibin: (Heh, forgot to see how long before I can use breath weapon again.)
(1) GM: Casting on who? Cast on yourself earlier....
(7) Derrel: (Huh?)
(1) GM: Or I got confused. Happens sometimes....
(7) Derrel: (Have I taken any damage? Well, I intended to cast it as soon as I could)
(7) Derrel: (Just not sure when 'Could' is)
(2) Kibin: (If I remember, Jason can make a will save...)
(1) GM: Ah, drat.
(1) GM: Will save: [1d20+14] -> [14,14] = (28)
(1) GM: Now way Derrel's DC is that high....
(7) Derrel: (Ashton...Don't help the GM!)
(7) Derrel: (15th paladin, -3 12 cleric)
(2) Kibin: (Hehe.)
(3) Elorin: (hmm? The will save is only for the target of the spell, which is Derrel)
(4) Kaylin: (The GM is trying to kill us all!)
(1) GM: Ah... humm..... Possession suppressed, then....
(1) GM: And Kaylin's turn.
(4) Kaylin: (I'm free?)
(2) Kibin: (Nah. Not really.)
(1) GM: (Effect is supressed while within range of derrel, for the duration of his spell)
(4) Kaylin: Thanks, Derrel.
(1) GM: Still grappling with Elorin, though....
(3) Elorin: (if you just wait a moment, I'll let you go)
(4) Kaylin: (what alignment is Jason? Evil?)
(1) GM: Funny.... nobodies ever checked..... except Derrel....
(2) Kibin: (I'd say neutral.)
whispering to Derrel, not evil.
(7) Derrel: "Welcome"
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Magic Missile ( level 1, "1d4+1 damage; +1 missile per two levels above 1st (max 5)." )
(2) Kibin: (On who?)
(4) Kaylin: (about the only thing I can do that'll hit Jason..)
(1) GM: Where? Jason's still INSIDE you.....
(4) Kaylin: (oh, he is?...)
(1) GM: It's just that his control is suppressed.
(2) Kibin: (What exactly are you going to shoot at? I'd just use dispel magic on yourself.)
(4) Kaylin: (nevermind that then, I'm not going to kill myself.)
(7) Derrel: (Couldn't she take a five-foot step?)
(2) Kibin: (Making sure not to eaffect your own spells...)
(1) GM: She's still possessed - Jason's along for the ride.
(1) GM: It's just that Jason's control over Kaylin is not functioning at the moment.
(3) Elorin: (and won't for 70 minutes as long as she stays within 10 feet of Derrel)
(4) Kaylin: (ohhh)
(3) Elorin: (by the time that runs out, the Sorcerer's control will be long expired)
(4) Kaylin: Derrel, do you happen to know what alignment Jason is?
** (2) Kibin looks around. "Why do I expect the sorcerer to pop up any minute now..." **
(4) Kaylin: (Did I do the requisite spellcraft roll to ID the Sorcerer's spell?)
whispering to Kaylin, you ID'd the one you heard him cast, which was a Greater Teleport.
(7) Derrel: "Not evil."
(2) Kibin: I really need to get my natural weapons enchanted, can't even touch Jason...
whispering to Kaylin, and you do have a chance of ID'ing one that is in place and in effect. Roll away.
(4) Kaylin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+31] -> [5,31] = (36)
whispering to Kaylin, Control Undead.
(4) Kaylin: (stupid low rolls)
(2) Kibin (whispering): Hmmm, with my low touch AC, it would be easy for the sorcerer to teleport me...
(4) Kaylin: Well.. I guess I'll just stay near Derrel for a while then.
(2) Kibin: Meh, you never were much of a threat, anyway.
(4) Kaylin: So, while we have a chance to talk... I assume that was the Sorcerer?
(4) Kaylin: (/me casts Enervation on Kibin)
(2) Kibin: (/me curses a low touch AC.)
whispering to Kaylin, and at one minute per level, compared to the 10 minutes/level on the Magic Circle, you know which is going to wear off first, even with Derrel's low caster level.
(1) GM: Anyone answering Kaylin's question?
(2) Kibin: Yes, it was. I've met him before...
(2) Kibin: Wouldn't be surprised if he tried taking me away again.
(4) Kaylin: Hah, good luck to him if he can survive that.
(2) Kibin: Oh?
(2) Kibin: All he has to do is touch me to teleport me...
(4) Kaylin: *innocently* Nothing, dear Kibin.
(4) Kaylin: (by the way, aren't we in the middle of a snowstorm?)
(2) Kibin: (Yes. Why would I care?)
(1) GM: Oh, yes; very cold; which reminds me.... Fort Saves, everyone (except Kibin)
(7) Derrel: Fortitude save: [1d20+12] -> [4,12] = (16)
(4) Kaylin: Fortitude save: [1d20+9] -> [10,9] = (19)
(3) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+15] -> [7,15] = (22)
(7) Derrel: (Doesn't the sorcerer have to make a fort save?)
(4) Kaylin: (people with good saves...)
(2) Kibin: (THERE IS NO SORCERER! The sorcerer scried on us to use the spell...)
(2) Kibin: (When will you people learn?)
(4) Kaylin: (he was there :D)
(2) Kibin: (It's a freaking illusion...)
(4) Kaylin: (You just need good spellcraft rolls :)
(2) Kibin: (Tell us ICly :P)
(1) GM: Elorin - you pased, and are staying nice and warm, despite the wheaterh.
(4) Kaylin: Pity I didn't manage to overcome his defensive spells.
(1) GM: Derrel, on the other hand.... [2d6] -> [1,3] = (4) cold (nonleathal)
(4) Kaylin: Would have managed to trap him here.
(1) GM: and Elorin [2d6] -> [3,6] = (9) cold (nonleahtal)
(3) Elorin: If I recall correctly, that Word was the last thing he needed to conduct his Ritual.
(2) Kibin: Um, he just scry on us?
(2) Kibin: (didn't he*)
(2) Kibin: Aw, I was hoping to see his lair...
(4) Kaylin: Nay, Teleport. He is quite skilled with illusion spells.
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Endure Elements ( level 1, "Exist comfortably in hot or cold environments." )
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Endure Elements ( level 1, "Exist comfortably in hot or cold environments." )
(3) Elorin: Spells such as what he used cannot be used through simple scrying
(4) Kaylin: (Derrel, me)
(3) Elorin: He had to actually be there
(2) Kibin: I thought he still needed me, or something. Oh well.
(2) Kibin: Um, what do we do now?
(4) Kaylin: We should make haste to find him...
(2) Kibin: Probally, although ,we have no clue where he is.
(3) Elorin: Get back to the wagon, rest, and try to find him as quickly as possible.
(4) Kaylin: Precisely as my theologically inclined friend says.
(3) Elorin: (just one more level and I could cast Discern Location :( )
** (2) Kibin wonders why Elorin and Derrel are shivering briefly. **
(3) Elorin: (I'm not, that should have been Kaylin)
(2) Kibin: (Wait, I meant Kaylin.)
(4) Kaylin: (That low Int really hurts you, doesn't it? The snow doesn't give you a clue? :P)
(2) Kibin: (Well, I don't think it's cold. :P)
(2) Kibin: (AND IT'S NOT LOW!)
(4) Kaylin: (hehe)
(3) Elorin: (brb)
** (2) Kibin then remembers it's extremely cold outside. Whoops. **
(1) GM: So... anything else happening before Derrel's spell wears off?
(7) Derrel: (Well, I guess we all get on the wagon)
(2) Kibin: About what's possessing Kayling being possessed by the sorcerer...
** (4) Kaylin wonders if she should play the damsel in distress to avoid having to walk back to the wagon **
(1) GM: After a little over an hour, Kaylin's eyes change momentarily, and Jason steps out of her.
(2) Kibin (whispering): I really wanted to see the sorcerers lair. Aw...
(1) GM: Jason: Ookay.... that's not good.
(3) Elorin: We figured that
(2) Kibin: Are you back to your old self?
(1) GM: Jason: Were I not, would I have released her, or continued to mindlessly follow orders, and try to kill you?
(2) Kibin: Well...
** (4) Kaylin attempts to pat Jason consolingly **
(2) Kibin: You could be faking it.
(4) Kaylin: Kibin, he's fine.
(1) GM: Jason: Speaking of which.... Kaylin, you seem to be a bit hurt.... I think I remember throwing a big metal object at Elorin.....
(2) Kibin: You never know...
(2) Kibin: Hehe, ah yes, you missed.
(4) Kaylin: You'd have done the same in his position.
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Critical Wounds ( level 4, "Cures 4d8 damage +1/level (max +20)" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [4d8+16] -> [6,7,2,8,16] = (39)
(7) Derrel: "What is it with you tossing me?"
(7) Derrel: "It's like you're obsessed with throwing paladins)
(4) Kaylin: You're so eminently tossable.
(4) Kaylin: (Who isn't? :D)
(1) GM: Jason: Well, that time, I think it was because you were the hardest, heaviest object around that wouldn't object too strenously. I guess it was either you or Elorin, and Elorin's a little more capable of strenuous objecting.....
(3) Elorin: That, and I don't think I weigh as much.
(3) Elorin: My armor certainly isn't as heavy
(4) Kaylin: Humans are rather heavily built, aren't they?
(1) GM: Jason: Ah, yes; flull plate versus chain.....
(2) Kibin: I guess I'm too light?
(3) Elorin: In that form?
(1) GM: Jason: Although very aerodynamic, yes, much to light. And not as hard as plate.
(3) Elorin: Yes
(1) GM: Jason: I'm kinda surprised you didn't just blast me. It's what I was expecting.
(4) Kaylin: It feels rather odd to attack your friends knowingly, that's why.
(1) GM: Jason (bitterly): I get better. I always get better.....
(2) Kibin: Not as hard?
(1) GM: Jason: Your hide verses Derrel's Plate?
(4) Kaylin: It wasn't your fault, don't blame yourself.
(4) Kaylin: Nothing you could have done.
(2) Kibin: Well, with this amulet, it's a close match...
(1) GM: Jason: Well, if you like, I could probably throw you both next time.....
(2) Kibin: No thank you.
(3) Elorin: So, any ideas for finding the Sorcerer quickly?
(1) GM: Jason: Yeah. Go to the ritual location.
(2) Kibin: Can we bring an army?
(1) GM: Jason: Hmm... I'm not sure.... he'll want the full moon, and that's... what, tomorrow night?
(1) GM: Jason: Also, I don't think they would survive the current terrain there....
(4) Kaylin: What's the terrain like?
(2) Kibin: Um, terrain?
(7) Derrel: That's the stuff you walk on.
** (2) Kibin glares at Derrel. **
** (7) Derrel whistles innocently. **
(4) Kaylin: (out-knowledged by a paladin. haha)
** (4) Kaylin sniggers **
(1) GM: Jason: A nightmare. That battle wasn't kind, and the ground itself was specifically attacked.
(2) Kibin: (I asked what the terrain was like. :P)
(3) Elorin: (a paladin with what, 9 intelligence?)
** (2) Kibin sighs. "Lava?" **
(7) Derrel: (Yep)
(4) Kaylin: (that's... 1/3 of mine..)
(4) Kaylin: (and I still can't choose intelligent spells)
(7) Derrel: (zzzz)
(1) GM: Jason: No... more like glass shards... Last I checked, it was a blasted and twisted place, where the ground itself was fused to a solid plate, and sharp edges were everywhere. The mountains he raised also schanged the weather, so
(7) Derrel: (Tired)
(1) GM: Jason: it's constantly raining.
(2) Kibin: Oh. So I can just fly above the ground. Okay, no biggie.
(4) Kaylin: And what about the rest of us?
(1) GM: Jason: Umm... stay on your toes?
(1) GM: Jason: Or learn to fly....
(7) Derrel: (Aren't we wearing armored boots?)
(4) Kaylin: (I'm probably wearing stylish slippers or something)
(2) Kibin: (I'm wearing nothing! :P)
(7) Derrel: (Silly mage)
(3) Elorin: You can probably cast a spell to fly, Kaylin
(1) GM: Jason: Or maybe.... how are you at riding a horse? I could teach you how to summon something that could stay off the ground... sort of.....
(4) Kaylin: Well, if we get there, I could work on the rain, make it stop for a bit.)
(4) Kaylin: Then I could use a spell to allow me to stay off the ground, and with the wagon and carriage, I don't think we'll have too much trouble.
(1) GM: Jason: Well... He's probably going to try the ritual tomorrow night anyway....
(7) Derrel: (Can we speed it up a bit so I can get back to sleep?)
(7) Derrel: (Please)
(1) GM: Rush through to the climactic battle? Or suspend here for next week? There's a time limit now....
(2) Kibin: (Climatic battle! :P)
(4) Kaylin: (I don't think I can come next week)
(2) Kibin: (Then it's decided.)
(7) Derrel: (Actually, I've got another appointment next week, too - Only time I can have them)
(2) Kibin: We can rest here tonight... Then Kaylin teleports us to the place with the sorcerer in the morning.
(1) GM: So we rest...
(4) Kaylin: And we should be wary of attacks - now that he has what he needs, I doubt he will limit his force much.
(1) GM: Strangely, the night passes without incident....
** (2) Kibin yays. **
(3) Elorin: (he's got what he needs, why would he attack again?)
(1) GM: In the morning.... Jason possesses his familiar, and lands on Kaylin's shoulder for the Teleport.
(1) GM: After describing the area well, of course.
(1) GM: Casting?
** (2) Kibin grabs Kaylin's hand. Trying to not poke Kaylin with his pointy claws. **
(3) Elorin: I'd suggest that we go into this with Magic Circle Against Evil already active
** (7) Derrel casts that **
(7) Derrel: (If we're going to teleport right to him)
(4) Kaylin: (oh yes, night before, I cast alarm on spellbook and bag)
(4) Kaylin: (that was a quick night :/)
(4) Kaylin: Everyone ready?
(1) GM: Familiar: Squak!
(2) Kibin: Guess so.
(2) Kibin: Byebye, snow...
(7) Derrel: "Yes."
(4) Kaylin: (will Teleport work or does it have to be Greater Teleport?)
(3) Elorin: (everyone's at full hp plus [1d8+10] -> [8,10] = (18) temporary from Heroes' Feast)
(1) GM: (You know the area by a "Reliable description" that is centuries old....)
(1) GM: Pick.
(7) Derrel: * Oraneormu indicates that she is ready
(2) Kibin: (Just use greater teleport. It's safer.)
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Greater Teleport ( level 7, "Teleports without error." )
(1) GM: You can tell you've reached Sheogorath. There's nothing here but angled and blackened landscape, twisted and rotated to a surprising angle. There's no life here. No animals, no plants, not even moss. You'd check under a rock or dig through the dirt to see if any grubs happened to survive, but everything seems to have been fused into one chunk, and sharp, glass-like edges abound. It's wet, though.... and quite slippery....
(1) GM: Balance Checks, everyone, unless you are flying, incorporeal, or some such; +4 circumstance if you are on four legs.
(3) Elorin: Balance Skill Check: [1d20+6-2] -> [18,6,-2] = (22) (includes Armor Penalty of -2)
(4) Kaylin: Balance Skill Check: [1d20+2] -> [5,2] = (7)
** (2) Kibin just hovers above the slick survace. **
(4) Kaylin: (bugger.)
(2) Kibin: (surface*)
(1) GM: Jason takes off of Kaylin's shoulder, and flies in circles around the area...
(7) Derrel: Balance Skill Check: [1d20+1-7] -> [13,1,-7] = (7) (includes Armor Penalty of -7)
(1) GM: Kaylin, you slip, fall, and take damage.... [5d6] -> [6,5,2,3,3] = (19)
(1) GM: As do you, Derrel [5d6] -> [3,4,6,6,4] = (23)
(1) GM: Elorin doesn't have much trouble keeping his footing, however.
(1) GM: Balance check again to get up.....
** (2) Kibin winces. That has to hurt... **
(4) Kaylin: Balance Skill Check: [1d20+2] -> [8,2] = (10)
(1) GM: Failure. SLip again.... [5d6] -> [2,4,1,2,3] = (12)
(7) Derrel: (Didn't I buy boots of flying?)
(1) GM: Very sharp ground......
(2) Kibin: (Blame your 9 intelligence...)
(4) Kaylin: This is silly.
(1) GM: Jason lets go of his familiar, which continues to soar.
** (3) Elorin helps Kaylin get up **
(1) GM: Jason: I keep forgetting how rough this place is....
** (4) Kaylin casts Overland Flight (Extended) - 30 hour duration **
(2) Kibin: I think I'll stay up here.
(1) GM: Aid another balance check?
(3) Elorin: Balance Skill Check: [1d20+6-2] -> [7,6,-2] = (11) (includes Armor Penalty of -2)
** (4) Kaylin tries to catch Elorin if he falls **
(1) GM: Not that it matters, as now she flies....
(3) Elorin: (that was for helping you, DC 10)
(4) Kaylin: (ah)
(1) GM: Jason: Umm... you might want to patch her up, as well as Derrel...
(2) Kibin: So, how does it feel to fly?
** (3) Elorin heals Kaylin **
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Critical Wounds ( level 4, "Cures 4d8 damage +1/level (max +20)" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [4d8+16] -> [8,3,2,6,16] = (35)
(2) Kibin: (Technically, Kaylin can't hover. :)
(4) Kaylin: You're such a useful person to have around.
(3) Elorin: (and Derrel)
(7) Derrel: (Can anyone remember if I did?)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Serious Wounds ( level 3, "Cures 3d8 damage +1/level (max +15)" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(4) Kaylin: (well, then, I'm flying to whop you on the nose)
(3) Elorin: [3d8+15] -> [7,5,7,15] = (34)
(1) GM: Hold the charge, and slap her as she flys by at her slowest rate of 20 feet/round.
(2) Kibin: (You can try...)
(2) Kibin: (Hehe.)
(2) Kibin: Kaylin, how do you like flying?
(4) Kaylin: It's fun
(4) Kaylin: a bit breezy though.
** (2) Kibin smiles. **
** (2) Kibin flies in a brief circle around Kaylin, and starts hovering again. **
(1) GM: Yes, you did.
(3) Elorin: (just 2 more levels till I get my wings...)
(2) Kibin: I think I
(7) Derrel: (Can I get the log where I bought stuff? I think I forgot to write everything down. Thanks)
(2) Kibin: 'm still more agile than you, though.
(3) Elorin: (speed 60, good maneuverability)
(1) GM: But only three times per day, for up to five minutes per flight.....
(7) Derrel: (Oh, ok, thanks)
(7) Derrel: How close are we to the place?
(1) GM: Jason: So... anyone got a Fly spell prepared - prefereably one that lasts a while - for our plated friend?
** (2) Kibin comments, "There's always Kaylin's Great Warping." **
(3) Elorin: Wind Walk, but he can't do a whole lot but fly while it's in effect
(1) GM: Jason: Ohh.... we're just at the edge... have a ways to go to get to the original ritual site.
(2) Kibin: Why couldn't you have just told Kaylin to teleport to the center?
(1) GM: Jason: He's proabably not there yet, for one; he needs the full moon, and it's still the day.
(2) Kibin: Ah.
** (2) Kibin flies more circles around Kaylin. **
(1) GM: Jason: If he sees us already there, he's liable to just wait until next month.
(3) Elorin: Well, that would give us more time
(1) GM: Jason: Well....
(1) GM: Ghost Telekenesis: Lift Opponent: Standard Action, Concentration: Off Ground 12 rounds (if under 300 lbs, Will save DC 25), Wait: [1d4] -> [3] = (3)
(1) GM: Jason carefully picks Derrel up off the ground.
(1) GM: and sets him in the animate wagon.
** (2) Kibin has fun flying around Kaylin again. **
(1) GM: The wagon, being a large, four-wheeled object, manages to keep it's footing by taking 10.
(1) GM: As does the carriage.
(7) Derrel: (Speed?)
(1) GM: Jason: Shall we head off? We probably want to arrive after nightfall, as it would be kinda hard to abort the ritual....
(2) Kibin: Sure, why not?
(4) Kaylin: Lead the way.
(1) GM: Jason: At least, without finding another Paladin, and another of those rare flowers. Pitty I wasn't able to make them extinct....
(1) GM: Jason heads into the middle of the devastation....
(1) GM: And it rains.
** (2) Kibin flies circles around Kaylin some more. **
(3) Elorin: What exactly do you mean by it being hard to abort the ritual?
(3) Elorin: Would the Sorcerer have to continue the ritual while ignoring our attacks, or something?
(1) GM: Jason: Other than his feet being nailed to the plate, and it creeping up him? Oh, he'd be fine.... as long as he kept up his incantation of that blasted Word.....
(2) Kibin: So, if I was to, say, paralyze him, it would be broken?
(7) Derrel: Silence spell?
(1) GM: Jason: Good luck making it work.
(1) GM: Jason: With either option.
(1) GM: Anything else to ask, before heading to the ritual site at night?
(2) Kibin: Um, what's wrong with my option?
(1) GM: Jason: Have you ever tried to paralize an Iron Golem?
(3) Elorin: What effect will the Word have besides being necessary for the Ritual?
** (2) Kibin flies around Kaylin some more for fun. **
(2) Kibin: I see...
(2) Kibin: Okay, so we get Kaylin to blast the sorcerer. Or Jason could slowly drain the lifeforce from him...
(1) GM: Jason: Not sure, exactly... the energy is drawn into the plate.... and nobody attacked the one I watched.....
(1) GM: Anything else to ask, before heading to the ritual site at night?
(7) Derrel: (No)
** (2) Kibin flies around Kaylin some more before setting foot on the wagon. **
(3) Elorin: Kaylin, do you have Fly prepared to cast on me just before we attack?
(4) Kaylin: Sadly, no.
(4) Kaylin: I don't even have that spell in my spellbook... that's odd.
(1) GM: Jason: Well, looks like you may have to chance it.... unless.....
(1) GM: Jason casts a spell, and a floating disk appears on the ground next to him.
(2) Kibin: Ooo, floating disks.
(4) Kaylin: That works.
(1) GM: Jason: Just don't examine it too closely, and you should be able to ride it....
(2) Kibin: I guess everyone can join me in the sky?
** (3) Elorin steps onto the disk **
(3) Elorin: Thank you, Jason
(1) GM: Jason: Your welcome, but unfortunately, it's limited to a foot from the ground.... might as well make one for Derrel, too....
(1) GM: Jason again casts his spell...
(1) GM: Oh, and Elorin - will save, or not?
(3) Elorin: (no)
** (2) Kibin flies with Kaylin again. Weee... **
(1) GM: You've reached the site of the ritual, in a slight depression on the ground.
(1) GM: It's already in progress; the Sorceror is on the plate, chanting that foul Word over and over. The plate moves like a live thing under his feet. The metal has already covered him up to his knees.
(1) GM: Above his head, a huge cloud dashes back and forth through the air; to his left, a huge fire burns, seemingly subsisting on nothing; on his right, an equally huge glob of water slushes about.
(1) GM: Behind him, is a 300 pound boulder, stained with rust.... and behind it, incongruously, a chest
(1) GM: He sees you as he continues his chant...
(1) GM: Roll for Initiative:
(1) GM: Sorceror:[1d20+3] -> [5,3] = (8)
(1) GM: Air: [1d20+13] -> [14,13] = (27)
(1) GM: Water: [1d20+4] -> [15,4] = (19)
(1) GM: Fire: [1d20+11] -> [4,11] = (15)
(1) GM: Unseen: [1d20-1] -> [8,-1] = (7)
(4) Kaylin: Initiative: [1d20 + 6] -> [20,6] = (26)
(2) Kibin: [1d20] -> [16] = (16)
(4) Kaylin: (ownage)
(3) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [5,6] = (11)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [2,4] = (6)
(4) Kaylin: (how far away are we?)
(3) Elorin: (no cover for us to hide behind and cast buffs before jumping out to attack, I suppose)
(7) Derrel: Dex check: [1d20+1] -> [12,1] = (13)
** (2) Kibin whispers to Kaylin, "Maybe you could disintergrate the plate somehow?" **
(1) GM: [1d20+3] -> [17,3] = (20), [1d20-1] -> [16,-1] = (15)
(4) Kaylin: (Are we within 1000 feet?)
(1) GM: Air, Kaylin, Water, Kibin, Fire, Derrel, Elorin, Sorceror, Unseen, Jason
(7) Derrel: (Almost got a reapeting pattern)
(1) GM: Yes, well within a hundred feet - the site wasn't in sight until you went over the ridge; 100 feet separates you from the ritual.
(2) Kibin (whispering): Where's the unseen?
(1) GM: You don't know.... yet.
whispering to Kibin, not in range of your blindsense.
(2) Kibin (whispering): So it's etheral? :P Ah.
(4) Kaylin: (so, Air goes?)
(1) GM: The air cloud forms into a tornado, and heads for ... Elorin.
(1) GM: Elorin - reflex save.
(3) Elorin: Reflex save: [1d20+19] -> [11,19] = (30)
(1) GM: Two of them, actually.
(1) GM: First was successful - no damage. Second?
(3) Elorin: Reflex save: [1d20+19] -> [16,19] = (35)
** (7) Derrel pokes Elorin **
(7) Derrel: (Never mind)
(1) GM: Also successful - you keep your feet planted firmly on the disk.
(1) GM: Kaylin?
(7) Derrel: (Wait a minute - If it leaves it's place, shouldn't the ritual be disrupted?)
** (4) Kaylin casts Antimagic Field **
(2) Kibin: (Wow.)
(2) Kibin: (That was unexpected.)
(1) GM: Umm... while flying?
(4) Kaylin: (hmm? am I misreading somethign?)
(3) Elorin: (Antimagic Field is centered on the caster and does not make an exception for the caster)
(4) Kaylin: (ahh)
(3) Elorin: (any active spells or magic items you have are suppressed for the duration)
(3) Elorin: (I don't think it's a good idea)
(1) GM: Or did you land on the wagon at some point?
(4) Kaylin: (that's weird, I could have sworn I read that it did)
(3) Elorin: (I don't think you can even cast out of it)
(1) GM: Nope. Can't cast from within it.
(2) Kibin: (Unless you got a special archmage ability, in which you can supress the field.)
(4) Kaylin: (not yet, haven't advanced a level)
(1) GM: (portions of it....)
(4) Kaylin: (ok, screw antimagic field then.)
(1) GM: Doing what?
** (4) Kaylin casts Quickened Spectral Hand and Touch of Idiocy in whichever order works, to try to hit the Sorcerer **
(1) GM: Touch attack roll?
(4) Kaylin: (hmm, don't have that listed. Is it similar to Ranged Touch?)
(2) Kibin: (Wow, your intelligence modifier is added to it's AC.)
(1) GM: Nah; Spectral Hand lets you make touch attacks with spells of 4th level or lower through the hand - if you miss, you still hold the charge. Although it does suck [1d4] -> [4] = (4) hp from you.
(4) Kaylin: (that thing has good AC)
(1) GM: Which comes back when the hand expires or is dispelled.
(2) Kibin: (Why not just make it impossible for him to cast arcane spells? :P)
(1) GM: ... but not if damaged or destroyed.
(1) GM: Touch attack roll?
(1) GM: Normal melee touch attack, with a +2 bonus.
(2) Kibin: (Okay. He's bolted to the floor, how hard could it be?)
(4) Kaylin: (what's the melee touch attack roll? I'm... unfamilar, to say the least0
(2) Kibin: (the same as an unarmed attack...)
(3) Elorin: (1d20+base attack+strength+2 from the hand)
(1) GM: 1d20+str mod+BAB
(1) GM: +2 for the hand, yes.
(3) Elorin: (1d20+7-1+2, IIRC)
(4) Kaylin: [1d20 - 1 + 7] -> [17,-1,7] = (23)
(4) Kaylin: (oops, forgot the +2)
(2) Kibin: (That should be enough.)
(1) GM: Touch attack succeeds; SR penetration check?
(3) Elorin: (25 should touch almost anything, yes)
(4) Kaylin: SR penetration: [1d20 + 21] -> [11,21] = (32)
(4) Kaylin: (dang.)
(2) Kibin: (Dang?)
(4) Kaylin: (only "above average")
(1) GM: Touch AC 13 - and shouldn't your SR roll be 1d20+15+2+2? (15 for caster level, +2 for SPell Penetration, +2 for Greater SPell Penetration?)
(3) Elorin: (riiiiiiiight, with a bonus well above average)
(3) Elorin: (+2 for Robe of the Archmagi)
(4) Kaylin: (there's also the Robe, gives +2)
(1) GM: Ah..... well, success.....
(1) GM: [3d6] -> [2,6,5] = (13)Int, Wis, Cha
(4) Kaylin: (enjoy -3 to Will saves, biatch)
(4) Kaylin: (ok, that's my turn done)
(2) Kibin: (Sorcerer isn't female... :)
(2) Kibin: (Can we see the picture again? :P)
(4) Kaylin: (you can call guys that too. the 'a' enables multi-gender direction)
(1) GM: Well... I don't have one with the plate....
(2) Kibin: (Ah.)
(2) Kibin: (It inspires our imagination. :P)
(1) GM: Water's turn....
(1) GM: The blob of water hastens to close the gap... and ends up 40 feet away from the party.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(2) Kibin: (How far away is the sorcerer?)
(1) GM: 100 feet.
(2) Kibin: (Hmmm. How far is the water blob away from the fire blob? :)
(1) GM: 60 feet, at the moment.
(2) Kibin: (Is that within the movement of the water blob?)
(4) Kaylin: (freeze the water blob!)
(2) Kibin: (hehehe...)
(1) GM: Double-move.
(2) Kibin: (Hmmm.)
(1) GM: Also, there's a big whirlwind trying to eat Elorin.... may go after someone else, next....
** (2) Kibin goes between the water and the fire blobs, saving the rest of his movements to get out of there, hoping that the water and fire blob decide to attack him at the same time. Hehehe. **
(2) Kibin: (Worth a try. :P)
(1) GM: Not reaching out to breath at someone?
(4) Kaylin: (get them close together, Kibin. I'll use Freezing sphere and hit both)
(2) Kibin: (Oh. In that case, I fly near the water blob, and use the cone of cold on it.)
(1) GM: Move to get there, standard to ready an action to move?
(2) Kibin: (While being just out of reach of the fire blob, according to the movement of the water blob.)
(1) GM: Ah.... reflex: [1d20+9] -> [8,9] = (17)
(1) GM: Roll your damage.
(2) Kibin: [2d6] -> [4,1] = (5)
(2) Kibin: (Your idea, so I'll see what happens. :P)
(2) Kibin: (Ooops, wrong die.)
(2) Kibin: [2d8] -> [5,4] = (9)
(1) GM: The water elemental shakes of the piddly little cold blast it gets exposed to...
(4) Kaylin: (much better roll :P)
(1) GM: Fire's turn....
(1) GM: Unfortunately for Kibin, the fire burns much faster on the land than water sloshes.....
(1) GM: And it charges....
** (2) Kibin hopes the two blobs collide... **
(1) GM: [1d20+19] -> [16,19] = (35) for [2d8+4+1.5*2d8] -> [2,5,4,19.5] = (30.5) and reflex to avoid catching fire.....
(4) Kaylin (whispering): Any chance I could make a knowledge roll to see what these things are?
(2) Kibin: [1d20+15] -> [9,15] = (24)
(2) Kibin: (Don't I get a reflex to dodge the fire anyway? :P)
(2) Kibin: (Ah well, Kaylin's turn is next in the blobs...)
whispering to Kaylin, The Planes
(3) Elorin: (-10 damage for Ring of Fire Resistance)
(2) Kibin: (Aside from the unseen blob. Hmmm.)
(2) Kibin: (Ah yes, I keep forgetting about that. Thanks.)
(1) GM: Reflex successful - you don't catch fire, and take 20 damage, thanks to the ring of Fire resistence.
(4) Kaylin (whispering): knowledge(planes) : [1d20 + 15] -> [13,15] = (28)
(2) Kibin: Hot, hot, hot...
whispering to Kaylin, elementals, of course - Water, air, and fire visible, Huge, but not Greater or Elder.
(4) Kaylin (whispering): what about the unseen one?
whispering to Kaylin, DC was 26, and you can't see the thing that hasn't acted yet. Technically, you don't yet know it exists....
(1) GM: Derrel? Your turn.
(7) Derrel: (Is the sorcerer close enough to charge?)
(1) GM: 100 feet.
(7) Derrel: (Using 'fly')
(1) GM: If you activate your winged boots, you get a fly move of 60 feet.
(1) GM: Pity it's a standard action.....
(1) GM: To activate them, that is.
(7) Derrel: (Well, it's the only way I could avoid falling down, so I guess I fly that way)
(1) GM: Standard action to activate boots, then; taking a move action?
(7) Derrel: (Or...Actually, I cast Magic Circle Against Evil)
(1) GM: That works too.
(1) GM: Taking a move action?
** (2) Kibin wonders what the sorcerer thinks about him now being a dragon... **
(7) Derrel: (Can I do anything else in the round?)
(1) GM: Umm... not much, really.
(1) GM: Elorin?
** (2) Kibin thinks the sorcerer needs to talk more. **
(1) GM: It's not his turn yet, and his mouth is busy....
(4) Kaylin: (he's doing nothing but chanting, seriously...never shuts up)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Divine Power ( level 4, "You gain attack bonus, +6 to Str, and 1 hp/level" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
** (2) Kibin needs to remember that stuff. **
(1) GM: Taking a move action?
(3) Elorin: (I'd have to make balance checks to go anywhere off of the disk, right?)
(1) GM: Yeah.
(2) Kibin: (You could draw your weapon?)
(3) Elorin: (no)
(3) Elorin: (heading to where I expect a fight, it would already be out)
(1) GM: Oh, he knew this was hostile territory....
(2) Kibin: (Or reserve it for something else that MAY happen...)
(1) GM: Sorceror's turn....
(2) Kibin: (I don't need to take my weapons out. :)
(1) GM: The sorceror, without breaking his channt, waves his hands and casts a silent spell.....
(2) Kibin: (Dang it, how do you cast two spells at once...)
(1) GM: (he's chanting a Word of Power, not casting a spell......)
(2) Kibin: (Meh.)
(1) GM: Disintigrate: Makes one creature or object vanish. Fort Partial, SR, Ranged Touch Attack:[1d20+10] -> [9,10] = (19), Successful Fort Save [5d6] -> [4,4,6,4,1] = (19), Failed 2d6 per caster level [28d6] -> [2,1,3,2,2,3,4,4,5,3,2,6,5,2,6,1,1,5,1,5,4,6,3,6,2,4,1,5] = (94)
(3) Elorin: (at who?)
(2) Kibin: (Ooook.)
(1) GM: Against the spellcasting Wizard.
(2) Kibin: (Aw comeon!)
(4) Kaylin: (eek)
(4) Kaylin: (what's the SR?)
(2) Kibin: (Can't we NOT be perils way just once?_
(1) GM: Sr applies. SR check: [1d20+17] -> [1,17] = (18)
(7) Derrel: (I just realised something - There would be very few peopel who talked with their hands in D&D)
(4) Kaylin: (someday I'm going to get HP and Fort saves.)
(7) Derrel: (People)
(4) Kaylin: (whoa.)
(1) GM: Fort save?
(4) Kaylin: (stupid browser crash.)
(2) Kibin: (Doesn't that fail to penetrate Kaylin?)
(4) Kaylin: (damn, my SR is only 18)
(2) Kibin: (*sniffs*)
(1) GM: Ah, no need to check next time, then....
(4) Kaylin: (*praypray*)
(2) Kibin: (20, 20, 20...)
(3) Elorin: (variant rule, natural 1 means reroll and subtract 20?)
(4) Kaylin: Fortitude save: [1d20+9] -> [8,9] = (17)
(4) Kaylin: (...)
(2) Kibin: (NOOOOOOOOOOO! :(
(2) Kibin: (We are lost...)
(4) Kaylin: (now where'd I put that USB cable)
(1) GM: His DC is down a bit with his charisma damage... but sorry Kaylin.
(4) Kaylin: (ah well, it wouldn't be a Climatic Battle for the Fate of the World without some character deaths)
(2) Kibin: (You really need to stop using save or die effects. :P)
(1) GM: 94 disintigration damage. Kaylin is hit by a crackling black ray, and turns into a pile of dust.
(2) Kibin: (Seems like every battle, someone is useless...)
(1) GM: Which, thanks to the rain, lands in a pile when it falls.
(4) Kaylin: (good luck fighting him)
(4) Kaylin: (quick! Drop of blood! I'm secretly a vampire)
(4) Kaylin: (*cough* anyways)
(1) GM: (with all the walking around in sunlight?) Let's see... nobody has approached the sorceror yet....
(1) GM: Something unseen moves.....
(2) Kibin: (I have. Kindof.)
(1) GM: And Jason gets a turn......
** (2) Kibin sighs. Dang it, stupid disintergrate... **
(1) GM: Jason: SHUT UP SHUT UP!
(4) Kaylin: (lol)
(1) GM: Ghost Telekenesis: Manuvers: Standard Action, Concentration: Combat Manuvers (Disarm, Trip, Grapple (Pin), Bull Rush) 12 rounds; +12 for Base Attack, +Cha Mod (10) for dex/str due to method), Wait: [1d4] -> [3] = (3)
(2) Kibin: (That's all? :P)
(2) Kibin: (Crap, we have to deal with another disintergrate...)
(1) GM: Touch: [1d20+22] -> [16,22] = (38); Grapple: [1d20+22] -> [3,22] = (25) Opposed: [1d20+9] -> [4,9] = (13)
(1) GM: And the sorceror is grappled.....
(2) Kibin: (Oh, yay, he has to complete a concentration check. :)
(1) GM: Jason uses his move action to approach by 30 feet, and the Disk Elorin is riding follows....
(3) Elorin: (and can't use somatic components...)
(2) Kibin: (And, somehow, not use his hands.)
(1) GM: Air elemental's turn again.....
(3) Elorin: (unless he breaks the grapple, he pretty much has to cast only spells with no components at all)
(1) GM: The whirlwind rushes around, and attempts to pick up Derrel, Elorin, and Kibin. Reflex saves.
(3) Elorin: Reflex save: [1d20+19] -> [8,19] = (27)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+15] -> [6,15] = (21)
(2) Kibin: (Figures. Low roll :P)
(1) GM: Well, two saves each....
(2) Kibin: [1d20+15] -> [19,15] = (34)
(3) Elorin: Reflex save: [1d20+19] -> [9,19] = (28)
(2) Kibin: (There we go.)
(7) Derrel: Reflex save: [1d20+8] -> [10,8] = (18)
(1) GM: Both DC 22 - - Elorin, no damage, and you stay on the ground. Kibin, take [2d8] -> [6,3] = (9) bludgeoning.
(1) GM: Derrel - failed the first save; [2d8] -> [7,7] = (14) damage.
(1) GM: Second reflex?
(1) GM: Derrel?
(7) Derrel: Reflex save: [1d20+8] -> [18,8] = (26)
(1) GM: The second succeeds, and you stay where you are.
(7) Derrel: (Ah. Toguht you were talking to Elorin)
(7) Derrel: (Thought)
(2) Kibin: (Ow, pokey.)
(1) GM: The elemental ends it's turn next to Kibin.
(1) GM: Kaylin's dust.....
(1) GM: Water's turn....
** (2) Kibin thinks this would be an excellent place for a cold spell.... **
(1) GM: The water elemental steps up and strikes at the dragon, opposite the nasty fire elemental.....
** (4) Kaylin dusts the water elemental **
(2) Kibin: (Which doesn't matter, as I can't be flanked.)
(1) GM: Fortunately, the Rogue can't be flanked....
(1) GM: Water: 2 slams [1d20+17] -> [10,17] = (27) melee [2d10+7] -> [4,3,7] = (14) and [1d20+17] -> [2,17] = (19) melee [2d10+7] -> [3,2,7] = (12)
(2) Kibin: (Miss miss. Huh.)
(1) GM: Kibin?
(2) Kibin: (Technically they just bounce off me.)
(2) Kibin: (Both of them hit)
(1) GM: And Kibin sloshes around a little, as the water can't get a grip on him.
(1) GM: Kibin? Your turn.
** (2) Kibin checks to see if he can damage the water elemental. **
(2) Kibin: [1d20+13] -> [14,13] = (27)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+8] -> [13,8] = (21)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+8] -> [4,8] = (12)
(1) GM: Hit, hit, miss; roll for damage.
(2) Kibin: (Duh, it's not flanked, is it. :(
(1) GM: AC 21.
(2) Kibin: [1d6+1] -> [5,1] = (6)
(2) Kibin: [1d4+1] -> [2,1] = (3)
(2) Kibin: [1d4] -> [1] = (1)
(3) Elorin: (elementals are immune to crits anyway)
(2) Kibin: (Keep forgetting to roll for the breath weapon.)
(2) Kibin: (Hey, how am I supposed to know that? :)
(1) GM: DR 5/-; you manage to ado a single point of damage to the rolling blob of water. It looks kinda amused.
(3) Elorin: (which you should be able to figure out just from the fact that you have no clue where a vital spot in a big mass of water might be)
** (2) Kibin really hates this sorcerer... **
(1) GM: Fire's turn.....
(2) Kibin: (Doesn't it have to hit me first? :P)
(1) GM: Fire: 2 slams [1d20+17] -> [6,17] = (23) melee [2d8+4+2d8] -> [8,3,4,1,7] = (23) and [1d20+17] -> [13,17] = (30) melee [2d8+4+2d8] -> [1,5,4,8,3] = (21)
(2) Kibin: (Thank you.)
(1) GM: Derrel?
(2) Kibin: (help... us...)
(7) Derrel: (Fly at the sorcerer?)
(3) Elorin: (you seem to be dodging blows just fine, Kibin)
(2) Kibin: (I don't care. :P)
(2) Kibin: (How much damage do I have right now?)
(3) Elorin: (start using expertise, and they'll Really have a hard time hitting)
(1) GM: Works. Standard action to activate, 60 foot move after that, leaves you fourty feet away..... allowing you to swipe at either the water or fire elementals next turn.
(2) Kibin: (Derrel can charge...)
(3) Elorin: (you took 20, I think, 18 of which was absorbed by the temporary HP from Heroes' Feast)
(3) Elorin: (Derrel activated the boots last round and moved)
(3) Elorin: (he should be in range to charge with a smite)
(7) Derrel: (No... Last round I cast MCAE)
(3) Elorin: (oh)
(2) Kibin: (He can still charge...)
(2) Kibin: (Moving at 120 feet a turn from the charge.)
(3) Elorin: (next round, then)
(1) GM: Movement is impeeded, unless he activates the boots and flys....
(3) Elorin: (both casting and activating the boots are standard actions)
(1) GM: Well, boots active, staying at a distance for the moment?
(2) Kibin: (He already did I thought... Ah well.)
(7) Derrel: (I activate the boots and head for the sorcerer this round)
(2) Kibin: (Help me again...)
** (2) Kibin hopes that the fire elemental is between him and the sorcerer. **
(1) GM: And move 60 feet towards the Sorceror... ending up right next to Kibin...
(3) Elorin: (bah, you don't need help. Your AC is sky high compared to the elementals' attack bonuses)
(1) GM: By the way... sucking up an AoO or two from the elementals, or going overhead?
(2) Kibin: (YES I NEED HELP! My touch AC is rock low!)
(1) GM: Worried about a little fort save?
(3) Elorin: (and what's going to be making touch attacks on you?)
(4) Kaylin: (same thing it did to me)
(1) GM: Well, overhead it is, then....
(1) GM: Elorin?
(1) GM: Elorin?
** (3) Elorin turns the Sorcerer into a pincushion **
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+30] -> [4,30] = (34)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+16+0] -> [3,5,5,16,0] = (29)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+30] -> [8,30] = (38)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+16+0] -> [7,1,1,16,0] = (25)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (attack 3) Attack Roll: [1d20+25] -> [9,25] = (34)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+16+0] -> [3,4,1,16,0] = (24)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (attack 4) Attack Roll: [1d20+20] -> [20,20] = (40)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+16+0] -> [4,5,6,16,0] = (31)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (attack 5) Attack Roll: [1d20+15] -> [15,15] = (30)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+16+0] -> [8,4,5,16,0] = (33)
(2) Kibin: (Weeee pincusion...)
(2) Kibin: (He's all pointy now.)
(3) Elorin: (+5 to all those to hit rolls, btw)
(3) Elorin: (from Divine Power)
(4) Kaylin: (by the way, let's be realistic. How the heck can you possibly fire 5 arrows in 6 seconds?)
(2) Kibin: (By being very very quick.)
(3) Elorin: (by shooting one every 1.2 seconds?)
(1) GM: Dex no longer helps; flat-footed AC 19; all hit, DR applies; [29+25+24+31+33-50] -> 92
(4) Kaylin: (That's pretty quick..)
(3) Elorin: (for a really good archer, that is quite reasonable)
(2) Kibin: (Minus -50?)
(2) Kibin: (Ah, DR.)
(7) Derrel: (50 DR????)
(1) GM: Dr 10 / - on five attacks.
(7) Derrel: (Oh. That's a lot more reasonable)
(2) Kibin: (I really don't think that should apply... since it's not all the way up him yet. :P)
(2) Kibin: (Oh sure, you're going to be poking him in the legs...)
(3) Elorin: (if it's 10/-, then I just wasted one arrow each of silver, cold iron, and adamantine trying to find what ignores it)
(1) GM: And not only is he a pincusion, but he's a dead pincusion.
(4) Kaylin: (nice)
(1) GM: The iron plate rumbles loudly as he crumbles on top of it, and begins to shake....
(4) Kaylin: (hey, someone grab my dust before it flies away)
(2) Kibin: (Do all the stuff he's summoned disappear? :P)
(1) GM: (Called, not Summoned.....)
(2) Kibin: (Dang.)
(1) GM: A rock pops up from underground and, seeing the situation, drops back through the undisturbed glass.
(1) GM: Jason grabs the dust pile and places it in the wagon.
(3) Elorin: (about the dust, would you prefer to take a level loss when I Ressurect you on the spot, or would you rather send us looking for someone that can cast True Resurrection?)
(2) Kibin: (So all the elementals stopped attacking?)
(2) Kibin: (Elorin, sorry, you can't ressurect Kaylin...)
(2) Kibin: (I think.)
(1) GM: The air Elemental heads direcly away at maximum speed - which, for a whirlwind, is quite fast.....
(3) Elorin: (With Resurrection, yes I can)
(4) Kaylin: (doesn't that require a body?)
(1) GM: The water elemental ignores Kibin and runs, full out, direcly away from the plate.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(3) Elorin: ("So long as some small portion of the creatures body still exists, it can be resurrected, but the portion receiving the spell must have been part of the creatures body at the time of death. (The remains of a creature hit by a disintegrate spell count as a small portion of its body.)")
** (2) Kibin lets the elementals run away. **
(4) Kaylin: (cool)
(1) GM: Your turn.
(7) Derrel: "I think we should leave."
** (2) Kibin withdraws to the wagon. **
** (7) Derrel withdraws to the wagon. **
(1) GM: The fire elemental does the same as the water elemental... but much faster....
** (4) Kaylin sits in the wagon **
(1) GM: Elorin?
(3) Elorin: (what's the disk I'm standing on doing?)
(1) GM: Following Jason... which, at the moment, means it's 30 feet from the wagon.
** (2) Kibin lands on the wagon. **
(2) Kibin: Stupid disintergrate spells.
(4) Kaylin: (oh, and don't forget to get my clothes and stuff)
(3) Elorin: Jason, could you direct this thing back to the wagon?
(1) GM: Not taking any action other than to speak?
(1) GM: Jason: It follows where I go.
(2) Kibin: (Okay, what is there to do?!?)
(4) Kaylin: (personally I prefer the True Resurrection route)
** (3) Elorin waits for Jason to go back to the wagon **
(2) Kibin: (I still make sure there's nothing around with my blindsense...)
(1) GM: The plate rumbles very loudly, and begins spinning very, very rapidly....
(4) Kaylin: (you probably know Kaylin well enough to know she'd pay for the costs)
(3) Elorin: (if he waits too long, I cast Wind Walk)
whispering to Kibin, nothing unseen in range....
(2) Kibin: Maybe we should get out of here?
(2) Kibin: Quickly?
(1) GM: Jason telekenetically throws Kaylins stuff into the wagon, and heads over to it himself....
(1) GM: Causing the floating disk to follow.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, great; Kaylin's not around to tell the wagon what to do.....
(2) Kibin: Well, can't you conjure up an image to trick it, or something?
(1) GM: The elementals continue to run for their lives...
(3) Elorin: (I imagine they'd have standing orders to obey the rest of us unless she says otherwise)
(1) GM: Anyone else taking an action this round?
(2) Kibin: Sigh...
** (2) Kibin takes Kaylin's clothes, and enters the carriage. **
(3) Elorin: Jason, get into your familiar, quickly
** (2) Kibin hmmms. "I don't think that would work, would it. **
(3) Elorin: Once you're in, I can cast Wind Walk on all of us
(1) GM: Jason quickly possesses his familiar....
** (2) Kibin just leaves the clothes alone. Meh. **
(1) GM: But as he does, the plate explodes....
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Wind Walk ( level 6, "You and your allies turn vaporous and travel fast" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(2) Kibin: (Ooo, james bond exit!)
(1) GM: Let's see... everyone's 100 feet away when the blast hits....
(1) GM: So only 10d6 damage....
(4) Kaylin: (not quite, he always ends with a girl.. your girl is currently a pile of dust)
(2) Kibin: (Ah well, we have to survive.)
(7) Derrel: (Why?)
(2) Kibin: (Because it can only do 60 damage. Simple.)
(2) Kibin: (Well, maybe you people.)
(7) Derrel: (That makes sense. I thought you were saying the GM wouldn't kill us. :) )
(2) Kibin: (Stupid fire vulnerability...)
(1) GM: Carriage: [10d6] -> [5,5,6,5,6,4,6,4,1,1] = (43); Elorin: [10d6] -> [3,6,4,1,2,5,3,3,4,1] = (32); Wagon:[10d6] -> [6,1,1,5,4,1,3,6,6,4] = (37) Derrel:[10d6] -> [4,4,6,4,1,5,6,5,4,6] = (45); Jason's Familiar:[10d6] -> [4,6,2,5,1,6,2,6,5,5] = (42); Kibin - you take 1d6 less, being inside the carriage:[9d6] -> [1,1,1,4,2,4,5,2,3] = (23)
(4) Kaylin: (told you he was trying to kill us ;)
(1) GM: Force damage.
(4) Kaylin: (crap, I hope the transport survived)
(2) Kibin: (So jason would get damage.)
(4) Kaylin: (poor WindDancer)
** (2) Kibin is relativitly unharmed. Wow.) **
** (2) Kibin comes out of the carriage, leaving the clothes alone. **
(1) GM: The carriage, having 52 HP, survives... barely; the wagon also having 52, fares better.
(1) GM: And there's a very big crater left...
(2) Kibin: We live! Most of us.
(4) Kaylin: (that was tactless ;P)
** (4) Kaylin dusts at Kibin **
(3) Elorin: Well, that attempt to get out of here didn't work quite as well as I'd hoped
(1) GM: There's not even a feather left of Wind Dancer....
(2) Kibin: Um, where'd Jason go?)
(4) Kaylin: (*sniff*)
(3) Elorin: (no save?)
(1) GM: Doesn't look like he fared too well from the blast either....
** (7) Derrel bows his head for a moment. **
(1) GM: (Nope)
(7) Derrel: (Seeing as his purpose could be said to be completed, he might have passed on)
(1) GM: Jason, having absorbed everything after his familiar's death, looks a bit torn up, but "survives"
(2) Kibin: (Hey, the formula is still around.)
(2) Kibin: Yay, Jason is still here... Um, Elorin? Healing?
(7) Derrel: (But the place is destroyed)
(7) Derrel: "Hello."
(3) Elorin: (how much healing does everyone need?)
(2) Kibin: (Not really...)
(1) GM: Yep - and now, there's an elf, a human, a dragon, and four elementals who have live memories of the word....
(2) Kibin: (exactly 25 points.)
(7) Derrel: (59, I think)
(3) Elorin: (on Derrel...)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(7) Derrel: (Which is just as much lay on hands as Derrel has)
(7) Derrel: (Minus one point)
(3) Elorin: (Kibin)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Serious Wounds ( level 3, "Cures 3d8 damage +1/level (max +15)" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(7) Derrel: "Thank you."
(3) Elorin: [3d8+15] -> [5,6,1,15] = (27)
(3) Elorin: You're welcome
(7) Derrel: "Uh...Maybe we should get a jar for Kaylin."
** (2) Kibin is healed again... YAY! **
** (7) Derrel looks somewhat awkward. **
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Light Wounds ( level 1, "Cures 1d8 damage +1/level (max +5)" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 1 Spell ( level 1, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [1d8+5] -> [2,5] = (7)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Light Wounds ( level 1, "Cures 1d8 damage +1/level (max +5)" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 1 Spell ( level 1, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [1d8+5] -> [6,5] = (11)
(4) Kaylin: (check the Bag of Holding)
** (2) Kibin tries to do a loop in the air. **
(4) Kaylin: (there's a container in there)
(1) GM: Jason: Oh... we can place her in her bag, for now....
** (7) Derrel decides to check the bag of holding for containers. **
(4) Kaylin: ("Silver jewel coffer with dryad scenes")
(4) Kaylin: (hooray for hoarding art)
(7) Derrel: "Could be a bit difficult getting her back together if we don't have something to keep her together, though."
(3) Elorin: I can revive her with two of the diamonds in 10 minutes
** (7) Derrel puts her in the coffer for now. **
(1) GM: Jason: Sounds like a plan.
(1) GM: In the center of the blast, lies a metalic skeleton, with stuff lying on it's bones....
(3) Elorin: But it would be a bit strenuous. She'd be somewhat less skilled than before.
(1) GM: And strangely, the chest survived....
(2) Kibin: Yeah, but doesn't your ressurect drain some of her life energy?
(7) Derrel: (Anyway, I'm rather tired, so...)
(2) Kibin: Hmmmm, wait a minute...
** (2) Kibin takes his theives tools, and flies over to the chest. **
** (2) Kibin first searches for traps. **
(2) Kibin: [1d20
(7) Derrel: (Bye for now, session was fun, um, zzzz)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [20,19] = (39)
(7) Derrel: Disconnecting from server...
(7) Derrel (exit): 16:55
whispering to Kibin, You find one. Nasty one, from the looks of it. Magic.
(2) Kibin: Hmmmm.
(2) Kibin: Jason, do you have a dispel magic spell?
(1) GM: Jason: Um, no, that's not one I can do.
(3) Elorin: I can do it
** (2) Kibin looks over to Elorin. "Why does a priest have dispel magic?" **
(4) Kaylin: (for times like this)
(3) Elorin: It's a spell pretty much any spellcaster can learn, if they're powerful enough
(2) Kibin: Uh, okay...
(3) Elorin: (Bard, Cleric, Druid, Paladin, Sor/Wiz)
(2) Kibin: Can you dispel the trap on the chest?
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Dispel Magic ( level 3, "Cancels spells and magical effects" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [1d20+10] -> [10,10] = (20)
(1) GM: So, now that he has cast his spell.... trying anything?
** (2) Kibin checks to see if the trap is still there. **
(2) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [2,19] = (21)
whispering to Kibin, you don't find it.
** (2) Kibin then takes a lockpick, and sets out to unlock the lock. **
(2) Kibin: [1d20+12] -> [15,12] = (27)
(1) GM: The lock snicks open.
** (2) Kibin opens the chest, and... **
(1) GM: A black ray springs forth as he starts to open it....
(1) GM: Touch attack: [1d20+8] -> [1,8] = (9)
(4) Kaylin: (ouch)
(2) Kibin: (HA!)\
(1) GM: And misses, horribly.
(4) Kaylin: (lucky o.O)
(3) Elorin: (...and it's a miss)
(1) GM: The surprise, though, causes it to close again....
** (2) Kibin doesn't even have to move for it to miss. "Okay..." **
(2) Kibin: Ack.
(3) Elorin: Sorry about that, dispelling things is rarely certain
** (2) Kibin steps back, out of the ray. "Jason, could you please open it?" **
(1) GM: Jason: Sure....
(2) Kibin: Since it really doesn't matter if that black ray hits you...
(1) GM: Jason walks over to the chest, and telekenetically opens it, standing right in front....
(4) Kaylin: (you know what that black ray is?)
(1) GM: (He's seen enough lobbed around to guess.....)
(4) Kaylin: (true)
(1) GM: Touch Attack: [1d20+8] -> [9,8] = (17)
(2) Kibin: (Yes. It's called having a wisdom score.)
(3) Elorin: (Evervation, I presume. Would give Jason temporary HP :P)
(4) Kaylin: (you have one of those?)
(2) Kibin: (Or intelligence score.)
(2) Kibin: (Be quiet before I rip your sack and render you impossible to revive with ressurection :P)
(1) GM: The air around Jason globs up and deflects the black ray, so it doesn't even touch him.
(1) GM: Strangely, the chest is pulled closed again, as the trap resets itself.....
** (2) Kibin peeks to see what's in it. **
(2) Kibin: Um...
(2) Kibin: Jason, open it again, and try and get hit by the ray... or something.
(1) GM: Jason opens it up again....
** (2) Kibin goes to see what goodies the sorcerer had on him. **
(3) Elorin: I really doubt it cares whether it hits anything
(1) GM: Touch attack: [1d20+8] -> [15,8] = (23)
(1) GM: And the black ray manages to hit him! [2d4] -> [4,2] = (6)
(1) GM: Jason: Hmm... that feels nice.....
(1) GM: Pity it closes again as the trap resets itself.
(3) Elorin: I'll try dispelling it again.
** (2) Kibin sighs. **
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Dispel Magic ( level 3, "Cancels spells and magical effects" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [1d20+10] -> [2,10] = (12)
(2) Kibin: Elorin, you wouldn't happen to have identify, would you?
(3) Elorin: Sorry, that's the sort of thing you usually need a wizard for
(2) Kibin: Meh.
(3) Elorin: Speaking of which, should I Resurrect Kaylin now, or should we wait and go looking for someone to cast True Resurrection?
(4) Kaylin: (toss a coin!)
(2) Kibin: True ressurection, I guess.
(1) GM: Jason: Well, I suppose, as the chest was willing to be touched, we could bring it along....
(3) Elorin: (we've been together for a while, we've had plenty of time for the subject to come up in conversation...)
(1) GM: Jason: Or you could try to disable it, Kibin....
(2) Kibin: Hmmm.
(2) Kibin: Elorin, you can remove the negative levels, right...
** (2) Kibin walks over to the chest. **
(3) Elorin: ("negative level" is a metagame term...)
(1) GM: (restore vital energies, perhaps.....)
(2) Kibin: (Oooops.)
(2) Kibin: (Replace that with life energy loss...)
(2) Kibin: (Blame OOTS. :P)
(3) Elorin: Yes, but it'll cost a little
(2) Kibin: What do you mean, cost a little?
(3) Elorin: Restoration takes a bit of diamond dust to cast
(1) GM: Jason: To restore lost energies, the energy must come from somewhere; diamond dust is the usual.
(3) Elorin: (this is one thing Heal doesn't work on)
(2) Kibin: Oh.
(2) Kibin: What about that thing you used to make me not stone?
(3) Elorin: Break Enchantment?
(3) Elorin: Nope
(2) Kibin: Yeah.
(1) GM: Jason: I suppose I could stand next to you..... maybe see about getting in the way if it fires....
(2) Kibin: Oh.
** (2) Kibin hmmms. **
(2) Kibin: Okay, you do that.
(4) Kaylin: (wedge something in while it's open)
** (2) Kibin waits till Jason is in front of him, then sets about to try and remove the trap. **
(1) GM: Jason stands right in front of Kibin as he works... fortunately, he's incorporeal....
(2) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [9,19] = (28)
(4) Kaylin: (gotta go)
(4) Kaylin: (see you in 2 weeks)
(2) Kibin: (noooooooo.)
(1) GM: The trap, being of much sterner stuff, blasts at Kibin.....
(4) Kaylin: (resurrect me and next week I'm off to elven lands for some meditation and quiet time)
(2) Kibin: (Why do you have to go :P)
(1) GM: Fortunately, Jason's in the way....
(1) GM: [1d20+8] -> [6,8] = (14)
(4) Kaylin: (birthday dinner tonight :)
(1) GM: And it gets sent off into the sky.
(1) GM: Well, happy Birthday!
(4) Kaylin: (see 'ya)
(2) Kibin: Hmmmm...
(4) Kaylin: (thanks :)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [5,19] = (24)
** (2) Kibin curses under his breath. Stupid trap... **
(1) GM: And the process repeats itself... [1d20+8] -> [5,8] = (13)
(1) GM: And it gets sent off into the sky.
(4) Kaylin: Teleport to home...
(4) Kaylin (exit): 17:14
** (2) Kibin sighs. **
(2) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [6,19] = (25)
(2) Kibin: (DANG IT!)
(1) GM: And the process repeats itself... [1d20+8] -> [14,8] = (22)
(2) Kibin: (Wouldn't it hit Jason? :P)
(1) GM: GOtta go - Dinner - eventaully, taking 20, it works...

** (2) Kibin ooos and aahs at all the pretty items. Shineys. **
** (2) Kibin has a very big grin on his face. **
(3) Elorin: (aww, no scroll of True Resurrection to make the decision easy?)
(2) Kibin: (you can still talk, you know.)
(3) Elorin: (well, I need to go eat too)
** (2) Kibin thinks, "Must resist... jumping into pile of treasure..." **

** (2) Kibin throws caution to the wind, and jumps in. Weeee, treasure! **

** (2) Kibin is very happy. **
(1) GM: Seeing Kibin is enjoying himself rather throughally, Jason closes the chest over him.
(1) GM: But doesn't lock it.
** (2) Kibin growls. **
(1) GM: Welcome back.
(3) Elorin: (You know, I just realized, Kaylin could have cast Spell Turning before the battle (2.5 hour duration), and the Disintigrate would have bounced)
** (2) Kibin wriggles around a bit in the chest. **
(1) GM: Yes; of course, with that SR check, it wouldn't have hurt Him.....
(3) Elorin: (but it wouldn't have hurt her, either)
(1) GM: For that matter, at the time, he would have needed a 13 to affect himself.....
(1) GM: True.
(1) GM: Think Violist will read this portion of the log?
(3) Elorin: (no need for expensive resurrection, with or without level loss)
** (2) Kibin moves around in the chest some more, trying to get it open. **
(1) GM: And finds it isn't even latched, and opens with no trouble whatsoever.
** (2) Kibin asks Jason, "Do you know why dragons like treasure so much?" **
(1) GM: Jason: You are in a much better position to know....
(3) Elorin: (with Resurrection ready, and no mention yet of Kaylin requesting special effort to get True Resurrection if she needs it...)
(2) Kibin: (I suggested it in her favor. :P)
(1) GM: Well, the die rolls are over for today, and we won't know if Kaylin is "free and willing" to return unless Violist is around, I'd suggest stopping here.
(2) Kibin: Well, how am I jsupposed to know what causes their obsession with treasure.
(1) GM: And deciding such things on the forums.
(2) Kibin: (Aw. Can't we at least have fun for a while? :P)
(2) Kibin: (TREASURE! :P)
(1) GM: (got a way to identify it?)
(2) Kibin: (And we're not in a hurry, really...)
(2) Kibin: (Yes. It's called the city.)
(3) Elorin: (just get me 8 more levels and I might be able to cast True Resurrection for free... :P)
(2) Kibin: (TREASURE! :P)
(1) GM: Ignore Material Componenets Epic Feat?
(3) Elorin: (darn spellcraft 25 prereq on Ignore Material Components)
(3) Elorin: (means I can't take it at level 21)
(2) Kibin: (We're still not in a hurry. And it'll take a while to get a cleric with the true ressurection spell.)
(2) Kibin: (Since she's going to be awayish for 2 weeks...)
(2) Kibin: (Quest! :P)
(3) Elorin: (are we even going to play next week?)
(2) Kibin: (well, on thanksgiving, I probally won't be here.)
(1) GM: As is Narf is unavailable next week too.... hmm...
** (2) Kibin comments, "Shouldn't we take this stuff to the wagon?" **
(1) GM: Jason: A good idea.
(1) GM: Jason carefully loads everything into the wagon... including removing the stuff from the bones of the Sorceror... which he seems to take a little glee in.....
** (2) Kibin rides in the chest. Weeee! **
** (3) Elorin might or might not be occupied Resurrecting Kaylin at the moment, depending on forum discussion **
(1) GM: Suspending here, then.....
Server Administrator-> Closing Server.....
(2) Kibin: (HEY)
(2) Kibin: (She said she'd rather have a true ressurection. It's in the log.)
(1) GM: True... but then we can't do anything here, either, so......
Server Administrator-> closing server... really... althougha bit of a delay....
Game disconnected!
