I put this up just for

Session is schedualed for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.

** (2) Kibin dances. **
(1) GM: Greetings.
(2) Kibin: Sorry I'm later than usual. I felt the need for speed.
(2) Kibin: And while we roleplay, I'm going to be watching bullettime. O.o
(1) GM: Ah, taking it nice and slow? Okay.
(2) Kibin: Hehe.
(2) Kibin: I bought Need for Speed Most Wanted.
(2) Kibin: Cop chases through an entire city. :)
(1) GM: Actually, though, I only beat you to logging into the server by 1 minute....
(1) GM: Although the server turned on roughly half an hour ago...
(2) Kibin: Hehe.
(1) GM: Schedualed tasks can be so handy; I use one as a secondary alarm clock.
(2) Kibin: The Matrix is awsome.
(2) Kibin: Kung fu! :D
(1) GM: Not that he ever, you know, really needed to fight, after the first movie; damage stopped translating from one to the other.....
(1) GM: ... and he had this nifty ability to make air solid....
(2) Kibin: Hmmm.
(2) Kibin: You mean bullet reflection?
(2) Kibin: Where he holds his hand up and stops bullets.
(3) Elorin (enter): 10:01
(1) GM: Greetings
(2) Kibin: Hello!
(1) GM: ... and there never was even the faintest explanation for why he saw stuff in gold code in the third, or how he was able to control the machines from outside the matrix...
(1) GM: Personally, I think they just went downhill after the first.
(1) GM: Well, that's the list of people we expect for today, so.....
(2) Kibin: He's the one. That's the answer.
(3) Elorin: As I recall, there was some brief "explanation" that his power comes from something in the machines' mainframe, which controls more than just the Matrix
(3) Elorin: doesn't explain how he can tap into it without the connection through the matrix, though
(1) GM: Well...
Moving to room 'D and D'..

Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for
a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.
Session is schedualed for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.

(2) Kibin: (Peace.)
(2) Kibin: (You know, I should probally change my text color again.)
(2) Kibin: (Silverish! :P
(2) Kibin: (Or not. Hmmm.)
(1) GM: Let's see..... When we last left our heroes, they were basking in victory, and contemplating the destruction of a safe to make arrows.....
(1) GM: (Wouldn't show up well on my background.....)
(1) GM: Hmm... what color to use....
(2) Kibin: (Hehe. Maybe a dark grey?_
(2) Kibin: (Test.)
(1) GM: Test
(2) Kibin: (See? Silverish. :)
(1) GM: That works....
(2) Kibin: (Yup.)
(2) Kibin: (I have color coded text. :)
(1) GM: BlueGreen
(1) GM: red
(2) Kibin: (Oh joy, now we have to cope with the
(2) Kibin: (With the GM having multicolored text.)
(1) GM: Oh, not often; takes a bit of typing to pull off; html tag codes are a little annoying at times.
(2) Kibin: (Wow. You can actually use them?
(1) GM: So... in the safe, at the school...
(2) Kibin: (Testing...
(1) GM: Yes, but you have to be careful to end all the tags you start, as otherwise, it bleeds through in the log.
(3) Elorin: (why doesn't it bleed through while we're chatting, too?)
(1) GM: I can Bold or Italicize fairly easily...
(1) GM: Well, it's just the nature of the viewer; it doesn't re-check everything every time, but starts from defaults when it gets a new line.
(2) Kibin: (Because you use the end tags. Duh.)
(1) GM: When you view the log, though, if I open a tag Here
(1) GM: and wait until here to close it,
(1) GM: funny stuf happens.
** That's the Tab key, Dave
(1) GM: You'll see when the log shows up later.
(1) GM: Anyway... in the dark safe, having just killed a poor, defenseless beasty....
** That's the Tab key, Dave
(2) Kibin: (He killed two of us, three times. Not defenseless.)
(3) Elorin: (it was hardly defenseless)
(1) GM: Well, mostly defenseless against how you killed it....
(3) Elorin: (it just didn't have defenses against the particular tactics we used)
(3) Elorin: (which, of course, was why we used them)
(2) Kibin: (Yeah. I already died once to that stupid thing.)
(1) GM: No, no, no, that was a different member the the breed....
(2) Kibin: (Whatever. I still died.)
(1) GM: Well, while everyone is just standing around basking in the glow of victory, a bizzare golden portal appears in front of derrel, lighting up the room.
(2) Kibin: That's odd.
(3) Elorin: (do adventurers ever get to take a break and rest? :P)
(1) GM: (occasionally; when they want to take a week off and make Craft checks or something....)
(2) Kibin: (No, rest is for commoners.)
(1) GM: (as are Craft checks, for the most part...)
(1) GM: A horse steps through.
(1) GM: A heavy charger, full of life and vigor.
** (2) Kibin watches this weird thing happen with curiosity. **
(3) Elorin: (yeah, but you'd think the world could go without another major evil plot starting for at least a few days every once in a while...)
(1) GM: The horse speaks
(1) GM: Horse: Derrel, there's been an invasion; you're needed at home. Will you come?
(1) GM: Derrel: An invasion?
(3) Elorin: By what?
(3) Elorin: And where is your home?
(1) GM: Horse: Demons have invaded my celestial home; and we need strong warriors to aid in fighting them off.
(2) Kibin: Is that Derrel's mount?
(1) GM: Horse: We still haven't figured out how they are surviving the plane itself.....
(1) GM: Horse: Of course, of course I'm his horse. Wasn't it obvious?
(3) Elorin: I could use some more target practice on demons. Want me to come along?
(2) Kibin: Not really, as he never uses his mount.
(1) GM: Horse: There is that. But you wouldn't long survive; the demons have been ... weakened, but the plane, but your chaotic nature would be the death of you until we could figure out what defenses the demons were using, and duplicate them.
(1) GM: (grr!! "by the plane" grr! Stupid keyboard!)
(2) Kibin: (I thought I was neutral good?)
(3) Elorin: (talking to me)
(2) Kibin: (Ah, okay.)
(1) GM: Jason: I suppose I shouldn't even inquire?
(3) Elorin: Oh well.
(1) GM: Horse: No, no you shouldn't.
(3) Elorin: (isn't Jason still waiting to revive?)
(2) Kibin: And me?
(1) GM: Horse: The plane's defenses are.... very picky.
(3) Elorin: I guess I'll just have to wish you luck, then.
(2) Kibin: (Is this a Derrel-only until he gets back quest?)
(1) GM: (pretty much; with the option of retirement)
(3) Elorin: (this is an "excuse for Derrel to leave forever" quest)
(2) Kibin: (Ah.)
(2) Kibin: (He better not take the book with him. :P)
(3) Elorin: (Narf wants to switch to his new Swashbuckler)
(3) Elorin: (he already finished reading it)
(1) GM: The noble Paladin nods his head, and walks carefully through the door.....
(1) GM: The Steed follows, and in a moment, the door closes, like it never was....
(1) GM: Other than some hoofprints in the dust of the floor.
(1) GM: (Hmm... right, jason still dead; forgot. Oh well.)
(1) GM: Paladin gone. Reactions?
(2) Kibin: Huh.
(3) Elorin: Huh. Well, I hope he succeeds
(1) GM: Kaylin: I get the impression he wasn't the only one recalled....
(1) GM: Kaylin: The Special Mount used the plural....
(3) Elorin: Yeah, one paladin is hardly enough to deal with a major demon invasion
(2) Kibin: So... Does that mean a lot less paladins clunking around and ruining the efforts of stealthy rogues?
(1) GM: Kaylin: Probably.
(2) Kibin: Cool.
whispering to GM, [2d4] -> [1,2] = (3)
(3) Elorin: Just make sure you restrict any thiefly activities to those that deserve it
(2) Kibin: Haha. I haven't theived any.
(2) Kibin: I've been a good little dragon and left your stuff alone.
(3) Elorin: Or were you referring to his inability to sneak around with you?
(1) GM: (Well, there was that one time with the Orange merchant....)
(2) Kibin: Yeah.
(2) Kibin: (Shhhhh. :P)
(3) Elorin: Yeah, full plate does make that kind of difficult
(4) Derrel (enter): 10:34
(1) GM: Hmm... I wasn't expecting you by today....
(2) Kibin: (This must have been a really short demon invasion.)
(3) Elorin: (right after we finish bidding you farewell...)
(2) Kibin: (So are you just going to popcorn?)
(1) GM: Narf?
(4) Derrel: (Hello)
(4) Derrel: (Well, I'm not going to be watching Narnia all day)
(1) GM: Ah, plans changed. Of course.
(2) Kibin: (So...)
(1) GM: Taking eraser to history......
(4) Derrel: (I could rig up my new character quick)
(1) GM: Backing up a ways....
(1) GM:
(4) Derrel: (Or we could insert events before the departure)
(2) Kibin: (Or... we could meet a swashbuckler in a city.)
(1) GM: When we last left our heroes, Derrel, Kaylin, Kibin, and Elorin had just finished dispatching a caged beast, and were discussing possible uses for the special iron they had used.
(1) GM: Someone come to see why nobody has paid the rent?
(1) GM: Or concerned that he hasn't heard from a friend in a few days...
(4) Derrel: (Only problem is I don't have equipment for him - That would take a while)
(4) Derrel: (Probably)
(4) Derrel: (Maybe I should have just stayed away :D )
(1) GM: Well, Derrel for a day it is, then.
(1) GM: We can repeat the deleted scene later.
(1) GM: So, standing in a vault....
(1) GM: In the library, at the college.
** (4) Derrel leans against a wall. **
** (3) Elorin piles a few special bars atop the etherial beast for amusement **
whispering to Derrel, it's solid, but has a slightly disconcerting texture to it.... like only half of it is right where you're leaning...
(2) Kibin: (The invisible etherial beast? :P)
(3) Elorin: ("look, ma! it's an immovable rod! woops, it slipped. :(" :P)
(1) GM: The bars seem to float in mid air... and then they slip.
(1) GM: and clang on the floor.
(1) GM: It's a little loud. Fort saves, everyone.
(3) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+15] -> [16,15] = (31)
(4) Derrel: Fortitude save: [1d20+15] -> [9,15] = (24)
(2) Kibin: (Ooops, just a second. Need to bring up sheet.)
(1) GM: Fortitude save: [1d20+11] -> [18,11] = (29)
(1) GM: Fortitude save: [1d20+11] -> [2,11] = (13)
(2) Kibin: (Yeah, that was my save. :P)
(1) GM: Actually, the first was Kaylin's, the second was a repeat as the first didn't seem to go through immediately.
(3) Elorin: (take the first, please :P)
(2) Kibin: (Oh.)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [19,11] = (30)
(2) Kibin: (Ooo. :P)
(1) GM: Same modifier, though, if you want the 13.....
(1) GM: Nobody's ears ring.
** (4) Derrel kills the GM **
(2) Kibin: (Aw. :P)
(1) GM: (What, you wanted a -2 penalty to listen checks for a day?)
(4) Derrel: (Blargh)
(2) Kibin: (Not really.)
(3) Elorin: Hmm, this stuff could make some useful weapons, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort trying to strip the walls for more than what's in the loose bars
(4) Derrel: The room could be usefull later.
(2) Kibin: Yeah. Teleport someone in the etherial plane you don't like here...
(2) Kibin: (Doh. Forgot to keep track of XP. :P)
(3) Elorin: Maybe get that nasty ghost sorcerer in here, bar the door, and put a permanent antimagic field on it...
(2) Kibin: Ooo. That could work.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Do you have any idea how expensive crafting such a field would be?
(3) Elorin: A possible alternative to figuring out what reason he has for staying and taking care of it
(1) GM: Anyone doing anything, or should plot stumble upon you all?
** (2) Kibin reads... BOOKS! **
(1) GM: Which ones? The ones from the chest in the vault, or a random pile book?
(2) Kibin: (Random pile book. Especially random pile book. :P)
whispering to Kibin, Dismemberment and Flaying of Dragon Hide for the Crafting of Armor.
** (2) Kibin tosses a book away and quickly gets another book... **
whispering to Kibin, The Delecet Culinary Properties of the Two-Toed Sloth
** (2) Kibin tries to find an interesting book... **
(3) Elorin: Hey Kibin, want to see what the librarians thought deserved protection by a Symbol of Death? :P
whispering to Kibin, The systemic extermination of certain Exotic Lillies
** (2) Kibin gives up on the books and wanders over to Elorin. **
(2) Kibin: And risk tripping the symbol and dying?
(3) Elorin: (those three books from the vault)
** (4) Derrel idly swings his bar. **
(1) GM: Stumbling plot it is, then.....
(2) Kibin: (We COULD wait for Jason to come?)
(1) GM: A strapping young halfling walks into the vault, longsword at the ready, looking around suspiciously.
(2) Kibin: (Is this Derrel's character? O.o)
(4) Derrel (whispering): If that's my new character, he uses a rapier.
(1) GM: Nope.
** (4) Derrel looks at the halfling mildly. **
(1) GM: Halfling: Where'd everyone go? There was supposed to be a school here!
** (2) Kibin waves to the halfling. **
(3) Elorin: If you're looking for whatever killed everyone, we destroyed it already.
(2) Kibin: Yeah, they kind of didn't make it through finals/
(1) GM: Halfling: Dragon! Perfect for a stewpot.... oh, wait, shiny dragon. Ah well.
** (4) Derrel eyes the halfling suspiciously **
(3) Elorin: Kaylin over here was coming back for final exams, we came with her, and we found all the students and professors had been turned to zombies
(4) Derrel: (Belkar?!)
(3) Elorin: (Dragons: color coded for YOUR convenience! :P)
(2) Kibin: Shiney dragon?
(1) GM: Halfing: Could have used a new hat. So you're the only people around?
(3) Elorin: Yeah, everyone was undead when we got here.
(2) Kibin: (Um...)
(3) Elorin: Some big skeleton of some sort had killed them all
(1) GM: Halfling: Yes; shiney dragons; it is very old lore that the dragons which reflect light easily are not to be harmed, but the ones which don't are to be feared and destroyed when possible.
(1) GM: Halfling: No dragon stew. Hmph.
(2) Kibin: I'll let you people play with the halfling for a while.
** (2) Kibin goes off to the wagon and carriage for a moment or two. **
(3) Elorin: Dragons with scales that seem metallic are almost always good, while other dragons are all evil
** (4) Derrel raises an eyebrow. **
(1) GM: Halfling: See? Old lore. Even stupid priest that hasn't been properly raised by his tribe knows about it.
(3) Elorin: (most basic bit of knowledge about dragons ever, besides their general shape and possession of a breath weapon: Metallic dragons are good, chromatic are bad)
(1) GM: Halfling: So there's only the four of you to work with?
(3) Elorin: (I think it's basic enough to not need a trained knowledge check)
** (2) Kibin comes back dressed, shapeshifted into a kobold, and with his short sword. **
(2) Kibin: (Yay for +6 dexterity bonuses!)
(1) GM: Halfling: Mr. and Ms. Elf, the plate-clad human, and the Noble one.....
(3) Elorin: We haven't seen anyone else around here since all the zombies walked into the building we burned out from under the giant skeleton
(2) Kibin: Noble one?
** (4) Derrel raises the other eyebrow. **
** (4) Derrel knows Kibin... **
(1) GM: Halfling: Five of you? Funny... I didn't see a kobold earlier.... even better...
(2) Kibin: Actually, it's four of us.=
(3) Elorin: Well, except for that etherial beasty that was guarding this vault, but it's dead and decaying now
(2) Kibin: Dragons aren't too dexterious.
(1) GM: Halfling: Ah, I see... so just the four to work with, then....
(4) Derrel: What is this 'Work with'?
(3) Elorin: Well, if you wait long enough, a friendly ghost will show up...
(1) GM: Halfling: Ah, well, I probably shouldn't wait, then.....
(2) Kibin: Yeah. Just not too friendly to silver dragons...
(1) GM: The halfling waves his hand and chants....
(1) GM: Roll vs. Initiative.
(2) Kibin: (Hello plot. :P)
(3) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [14,6] = (20)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+6] -> [12,6] = (18)
(1) GM: [1d20+3] -> [1,3] = (4)
(2) Kibin: (Yay! Initiative bonsues again!)
(4) Derrel: Dex check: [1d20+1] -> [20,1] = (21)
(1) GM: Derrel, Elorin, Kibin, Halfling
(1) GM: Derrel?
(2) Kibin: Hello bad guy...
(3) Elorin: (is the halfling the bad guy, or is he possessed?)
(4) Derrel: (Can I tell wether he is attacking?)
(2) Kibin: (How would we know?)
(1) GM: You can tell he's casting a spell.
(3) Elorin: (MCAE and move close?)
(1) GM: He looks rather unkempt, as though he's used to roughing it in the wilderness.
(4) Derrel: (Ok, Derrel walks over. If it's a hostile spell aimed at a party member, he attacks. (Move action, then hold action.))
(1) GM: Derrel can't tell. He can tell it's a spell being cast, but not what spell.
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [17,18] = (35)
whispering to Elorin, Flesh to Stone.....
whispering to Elorin, but not technically being cast at the moment - combat start flavor, rather than just give him the first move - so can't be disrupted quite yet.
(3) Elorin: Derrel, I think he may be possessed by that ghost from the city
(2) Kibin: Yeah, thanks for the obvious...
(3) Elorin: That's his trademark Flesh to Stone
** (4) Derrel attacks, then. **
(1) GM: Close enough for a full attack.
(3) Elorin: (uh, innocent possessed guy?)
(4) Derrel: (Trying to do non-lethal)
(4) Derrel: (Can I do non-lethal smite damage?)
(1) GM: -4 penalty to attack rolls.....
(1) GM: If you like.
(3) Elorin: (when you have a spell that suppresses the possession?)
(2) Kibin: (Derrel isn't very intelligent. :P)
(1) GM: Attack rolls?
(4) Derrel: (Can I do non-lethal smite damage?)
(1) GM: Yep.
(4) Derrel: +5 Oraneormu Smite #1 Attack Roll: [1d20+29] -> [6,29] = (35)===> DMG: [1d8+20+2d6+4] -> [3,20,2,6,4] = (35)
(4) Derrel: (Knock him out...)
(1) GM: A hit, for 35 nonleathal.
(2) Kibin: (He out?)
(1) GM: And he's still standing, quite well. Seems he was even able to shrug some of it off...
(1) GM: Elorin?
(3) Elorin: (full attack?)
(2) Kibin: (*grins evilly*)
(1) GM: Oh, right.....
(4) Derrel: +5 Oraneormu #2 Attack Roll: [1d20+19] -> [14,19] = (33)===> DMG: [1d8+5+2d6+4] -> [4,5,2,1,4] = (16)
(4) Derrel: +5 Oraneormu #3 Attack Roll: [1d20+14] -> [7,14] = (21)===> DMG: [1d8+5+2d6+4] -> [2,5,6,6,4] = (23)
(1) GM: Both hit; [16+23-6] -> 33 that doesn't get shrugged off.
(1) GM: And the halfling is STILL standing steady.
(1) GM: Elorin?
(3) Elorin: (um, is it possible to do nonlethal with my bow?)
(2) Kibin: (Is this a be killed or lose paladin feature thingie? :P)
(1) GM: Not with a bow, no.
(2) Kibin: (You could start by reinforcing us against flesh to stone somehow.)
(1) GM: Ethically gray areas, such as this, aren't going to affect his Paladinhood too badly, especially with Derrel's Int score. Something attacks, he hits it.
(3) Elorin: (oh well, he's got enough nonlethal already he should drop before I kill him.)
(3) Elorin: (or I could prepare to disrupt his spell)
(1) GM: Your turn, your choice.
(3) Elorin: (flame strike disruption readied)
(1) GM: Kibin?
(1) GM: He's all nice and flat-footed for you....
(2) Kibin: (Oh yeah.)
** (2) Kibin does three quick slashes with his sword, being careful to stop attacking once he's down. **
(1) GM: And opposite a tank, if you care to scooch around a little....
(2) Kibin: (And I scooch around a little. if I can step. :P)
(1) GM: Attack and damage rolls? Sneak Attack applies.
(1) GM: You can.
(3) Elorin: Uh, leave one side open for the moment
(2) Kibin: (Lemme figure up damage.)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+25] -> [18,25] = (43)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+20] -> [8,20] = (28)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+15] -> [9,15] = (24)
(2) Kibin: (Hows THAT for rolls!)
(3) Elorin: (flame strike is 10-ft radius, can't hit only him if you two are flanking)
(1) GM: Three hits; roll for damage.....
(2) Kibin: (*laughs evilly)
(2) Kibin: (What's the damage for my shortsword again?)
(2) Kibin: (1d4?)
(1) GM: Small shortsword? Yep, 1d4.
(1) GM: Base.
(2) Kibin: [1d4-2+5+7d6] -> [1,-2,5,6,1,6,3,4,1,4] = (29)
(2) Kibin: [1d4-2+5+7d6] -> [1,-2,5,2,4,2,6,2,2,5] = (27)
(2) Kibin: [1d4-2+5+7d6] -> [1,-2,5,1,2,1,6,3,1,4] = (22)
(1) GM: Fortunately, he doesn't seem to have his barbarian Improved Uncanny dodge.....
(2) Kibin: (I only do what attacks are nessecary. He should fall unconscious before he dies.)
(1) GM: [26+24+19] -> 69
(1) GM: He bleeds profusely, but remains standing.
(2) Kibin: (But loses 6 strength. Like it matters...)
(2) Kibin: (Ooops.
(2) Kibin: (Can I retroactivly take my AoO?)
(4) Derrel: (I think D&D is more comprehensible if you think of it as a supers wargame)
(2) Kibin: (From Derrel hitting in melee.)
(1) GM: From when Derrel hit? Do you have Combat Reflexes that might permit you to take AoO's before your initiative turn comes up the first time?
(2) Kibin: (Well. I'm never flatfooted...)
(1) GM: You're still flat-footed, you just retain dex to AC.
(1) GM: Nope, no AoO for those attacks, sorry.
(2) Kibin: (Why not?)
(1) GM: The halfling steps back so that he is directly between Kibin and Derrel, and concentrates....
(2) Kibin: (Hmmmph.)
(3) Elorin: (ok, so which one of you has to dodge the flame strike?)
(2) Kibin: (Derrel. I don't like flame.)
(1) GM: [1d20+30] -> [14,30] = (44)
(2) Kibin: (Flame is bad for Kibin.)
(3) Elorin: (but you have evasion)
(2) Kibin: (So?!?)
(3) Elorin: (what's your reflex save bonus, again?)
(1) GM: He succeeds at casting defensively, and casts his spelll....
(1) GM: Flame strike?
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Flame Strike ( level 5, "Smite foes with divine fire (1d6/level damage)" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 5 Spell ( level 5, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) GM: Reflex save DC?
(2) Kibin: (Who?)
(1) GM: Up to elorin.....
(2) Kibin: (The person with lots of HP and low reflex save, or person with high reflex save, low HP, and vulnerability to fire...)
(3) Elorin: (um, hitting Kibin and hoping he dodges, DC 23)
(1) GM: [1d20+9] -> [17,9] = (26)
(3) Elorin: (you also have a ring of fire resistance...)
(3) Elorin: [15d6] -> [5,5,1,6,2,3,4,3,2,1,5,4,1,5,1] = (48)
(2) Kibin: (You know if that hits, I'm dead...)
(1) GM: Was that damage roll Kibin or the halfling?
(3) Elorin: (same for everyone)
(3) Elorin: (half on successful save)
(1) GM: Halfling takes 24... and drops;
(2) Kibin: (Huh. There's a 1 in 20 chance of that hitting.)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+23] -> [18,23] = (41)
(3) Elorin: (24 for halfling, [24*1.5-10+24] -> 50.0 or 0 for Kibin)
(2) Kibin: (Fear my sweet saves. :)
(1) GM: A ghost stands where it was, however, unharmed....
** (4) Derrel closes the door quick. **
(1) GM: ... and finishes the blasted spell.
(1) GM: Elorin, make a Fort save.
(3) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+15] -> [11,15] = (26)
(2) Kibin: (I hate you. :P)
(1) GM: Elorin fails (by 1. Ouch.) And turns to stone.
(3) Elorin: (uh, time to NPC Kayling and cast Stone to Flesh, I think)
(3) Elorin: (and hope I don't roll 1 on the save)
(1) GM: Oh, right... Kaylin....
(2) Kibin: (15 fortitude save to survive. :P)
(1) GM: Yep, Stone to Flesh. Make a fort save.
(3) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+15] -> [16,15] = (31)
Kaylin casts Stone to Flesh ( level 6, "Restores petrified creature." )
Kaylin can cast Stone to Flesh 0 more times
(1) GM: Just don't roll a 1, kay?
(2) Kibin: (Sweeeeeeeet. Big lobby scene in the Matrix with bulletime and bullets everywhere.)
(3) Elorin: (huh, you'd think Flesh to Stone and Stone to Flesh would counter each other, but they don't)
(3) Elorin: (I already rolled it)
(2) Kibin: (Yeah, Kaylin could just counterspell...)
(1) GM: Ah, right - okay. Oh, by the way - Kibin - D&D maths; 100% +50% - 100% = 50%; you took 12 damage from the fire portion, despite the reflex save, which was reduced to 2 by your ring.
(2) Kibin: (Hey. :P)
(2) Kibin: (On a successful save, I'm not touched by the fire.)
(3) Elorin: (no, I don't think that applies to evasion)
(3) Elorin: (evasion isn't "-100% damage", it's "completely dodge")
(1) GM: Oh, all right.
(2) Kibin: (Exactly.)
(2) Kibin: (That includes any effects from it too, I believe.)
(1) GM: And... Derrel's turn, again.
** (4) Derrel closes the door quick, then picks up a bar. **
(1) GM: Door was disintigrated a long time ago, sorry.
(1) GM: Remember when you wanted it open "Now"?
(3) Elorin: (uh, you don't need that unless he actually goes etherial, in which case he can't attack us any more)
** (4) Derrel casts Magic Circle against Evil, then. **
(1) GM: Which reminds me... it's your turn, so make two fort saves.
(3) Elorin: (even with 50% miss chance, Oran probably still does more damage on average than a bar)
(4) Derrel: (That's the one that hedges out mind control, right?
(1) GM: You can see the Ghost....
(3) Elorin: (yes)
(4) Derrel: Fortitude save: [1d20+15] -> [9,15] = (24)
(4) Derrel: Fortitude save: [1d20+15] -> [3,15] = (18)
(2) Kibin: (GO NEO! :P)
(2) Kibin: (He's owning some agents with a chaingun. :)
** (2) Kibin asks the ghost, "Why are you still here? Why haven't you traveled on yet?" Kibin doesn't really expect an answer... **
(1) GM: Sorry, DC 29 - Derrel has some issues; Strnegth damage: [1d4] -> [1] = (1); Dex: [1d4] -> [2] = (2); Con: [1d4] -> [1] = (1); Charisma: [1d4] -> [3] = (3); HP: [2d10] -> [5,1] = (6)
(1) GM: Note that the Charisma damage WILL reduce your saves, and the Con damage might....
** (4) Derrel just whacks at him, then. **
(1) GM: Derrel's skin crnkles a little.....
(1) GM: Attack rolls?
(1) GM: Weapon isn't ghost touch.....
(4) Derrel: +5 Oraneormu Smite #1 Attack Roll: [1d20+29] -> [13,29] = (42)===> DMG: [1d8+20+2d6+4] -> [3,20,5,3,4] = (35)
(4) Derrel: +5 Oraneormu #2 Attack Roll: [1d20+19] -> [5,19] = (24)===> DMG: [1d8+5+2d6+4] -> [4,5,5,5,4] = (23)
(4) Derrel: +5 Oraneormu #3 Attack Roll: [1d20+14] -> [8,14] = (22)===> DMG: [1d8+5+2d6+4] -> [2,5,2,4,4] = (17)
(4) Derrel: (Let's see...)
(1) GM: Miss chances: 50 or less on any given die means the corresponding attack misses: [3d100] -> [5,23,91] = (119)
(4) Derrel: (No reduction in damage, I think)
(2) Kibin: (Actually, I think the smite evil damage may still go through.)
(1) GM: First passes through his body harmlessly, second and third simply miss. No damage.
(1) GM: Still from a corporeal source, even though it's magic and Supernatural.
(1) GM: Elorin?
(2) Kibin: (It would be cool if Jason showed up and helped him kick his butt.)
(3) Elorin: (let's see, 2 saves for me?)
(2) Kibin: (Help us kick his butt...)
(1) GM: Yep.
(3) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+15] -> [5,15] = (20)
(3) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+15] -> [17,15] = (32)
(2) Kibin: (No reply from what I said to the ghost?)
(1) GM: First failed, second passed;
(1) GM: Issues; Strnegth damage: [1d4] -> [2] = (2); Dex: [1d4] -> [4] = (4); Con: [1d4] -> [3] = (3)
** (2) Kibin closes his eyes so he doesn't have to get freaked out or anything. **
(1) GM: Closed, rather than averted vision? Cool.....
(2) Kibin: (SWEET SUBWAY BATTLE! :P)
(2) Kibin: (What do you mean cool? x.x)
(1) GM: Oh, just a few piled-on to-hit penalties, and you don't know exactly what's happening.....
(3) Elorin: (I can't remember, what are the effects of averting my eyes?)
(1) GM: Actions?
(2) Kibin: (I don't do much to him anyway, so does it matter?)
(1) GM: 50% miss chance on the gaze attacks, he has concealment (20% miss chance) from your attacks.
(3) Elorin: (can I do that now retroactively for this round?)
(3) Elorin: (I have seen what looking at him does before)
(1) GM: No; slightly surprised by his appearence, and not fully aware of the gaze issue beforehand....
(1) GM: Well, all right - miss chance on the failed save: [1d100] -> [80] = (80)
(1) GM: Sorry; hit.
(1) GM: Actions?
(3) Elorin: (oh well)
(2) Kibin: (Of who?)
(3) Elorin: (let's see, -4 to hit from lowered stats)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+31] -> [18,31] = (49)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [7,3,5,17,0] = (32)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+31] -> [2,31] = (33)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [5,3,5,17,0] = (30)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 3) Attack Roll: [1d20+26] -> [2,26] = (28)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [3,2,6,17,0] = (28)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 4) Attack Roll: [1d20+21] -> [14,21] = (35)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [6,5,5,17,0] = (33)
(1) GM: AC 37; one potential hit; 50 or less misses; [1d100] -> [92] = (92)
(1) GM: And your holy arrow smashes into the ghost.... who immediately vanishes.
(2) Kibin: (Neo is about to die...)
(1) GM: Although a little doll he's holding glows briefly.....
(1) GM: Spellcraft check?
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [2,18] = (20)
whispering to Elorin, You have absolutely no idea how he did that.
(3) Elorin: (I'm guessing Contingency: teleport when he takes damage)
(1) GM: Shush! You don't know!
(4) Derrel: (Yes - But he can still guess)
(3) Elorin: (I've seen this before, and identified it as Contingency then...)
(1) GM: Ah, well, okay then.
** (2) Kibin opens his eyes when he doesn't hear the sounds of battle anymore. Gaze attacks are evil... **
(2) Kibin: Wonder when Jason is coming back.
(4) Derrel: (Does Derrel need a restoration spell or just a few days rest?)
** (4) Derrel checks the status of the guy on the floor. **
(1) GM: He's still breathing.
(2) Kibin: Take him to the wagon and get him healed up?
** (4) Derrel uses Lay on Hands to make sure he keeps doing that. **
(1) GM: For how much?
** (3) Elorin heals his own ability damage **
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
** (4) Derrel does Detect Evil on the halfling. **
whispering to Derrel, You do not detect evil.
** (4) Derrel heals him about 1/3 of whatever Lay on Hands he has. **
(1) GM: Let's see... -3 charisma put you at 15, a +2 modifier; as a Paladin-15, you have 30 HP of LoH a day, so that's 10 points of healing.
(1) GM: And the halfling awakens....
(1) GM: Halfling: Anyone get the license number on that rhino?
(4) Derrel: You had an encounter with an ill-intentioned ghost.
(2) Kibin: (RUN AGENTS RUN!)
(4) Derrel: (Not exactly subtle, are we?)
(2) Kibin: Yeah, I think it was a gnome ghost.
(3) Elorin: A gnome that got killed by a building falling on him. (IIRC)
(1) GM: Halfling: It must have knocked me a long ways...
(1) GM: ("Looks like he'd been crushed" yes, something like that.)
(1) GM: Halfling: A ghost? Last I remember.... I was sleeping in my villiage.
(3) Elorin: Considering the ghost took control of you and can cast some version of Teleport, there's no telling how far he may have taken you.
** (2) Kibin says, "He likes to inhabit people and take control over them." **
(4) Derrel: Not to worry you to much, but the last village he visited was largely turned into pillows.
(1) GM: Halfling: Wha? Wait a minute... these wounds... that sword.... have you been sticking pointy things in me?
** (2) Kibin glares at Derrel. Sutble, my name is not Derrel. **
(2) Kibin: Oh, uh, sorry about that.
(4) Derrel: (As if any of you are ever subtle)
(2) Kibin: (I can be.)
(4) Derrel: The ghost attacked us. We had to keep him from killing us.
(2) Kibin: (It is what my class is known for.)
(3) Elorin: Self defense
(2) Kibin: Yeah.
(4) Derrel: Or turning us into pillows.
(3) Elorin: We had to knock you unconscious so the ghost would come out
(1) GM: Halfling: Of course. Pillows, you say?
(2) Kibin: Yes...
(4) Derrel: Pillows. I think he's a little cracked.
(1) GM: Halfling: And the guys who are feeding me a crazy story about a ghost making... pillows.... aren't?
(2) Kibin: You know... now that I think about it... wouldn't Elorin's healing spells fix that trick?
(3) Elorin: Yeah, he has this thing about reshaping people. He's done some other stuff, but human pillows seems to be his specialty.
(2) Kibin: Healing seems like it fixes almost any type of damage, and I think that mutilation would be covered.
(4) Derrel: I assure you, we are all nearly completly sane. Of course, we are adventurers.
(1) GM: Takes Regeneration to deal with sever physical deformities such as amputation.
(4) Derrel: If you like, we can take you to the last town he visited.
(1) GM: Or Miracle. Or Wish. Or a repat of the process.
(2) Kibin: (Huh.)
(1) GM: Halfling: Umm... no offense, but i don't think I want to be traveling with crazy people....
(2) Kibin: (Can Derrel's new character be in a Crossed Swords at Noon contest?)
(1) GM: Not familiar with the reference.
(2) Kibin: Eh. We're not crazy, just died a few times.
(4) Derrel: (Very likely.)
(1) GM: Halfling: Oh, of course not.
(4) Derrel: Especially him. *Points at Kibin*
(1) GM: The halfling quietly gets up and starts slowly inching towards the exit...
(3) Elorin: Died. Turned to stone. It's all in the usual line of business for adventurers.
(2) Kibin: No, I only died once. Then all those spells...
(4) Derrel: Oh, right.
(2) Kibin: You know, our wizard could teleport you back.
(4) Derrel: Maybe if you changed, he might not think we're crazy.
(1) GM: Halfling: Yeah... um.... I think I'll walk....
(3) Elorin: Before you go, if you'd describe your village for her (points to Kaylin), we could teleport you back there.
(2) Kibin: (It's a fair duel at noon against an existing duelist.)
(1) GM: The halfling runs away... surprisingly fast for someone on such short legs.
(4) Derrel: (Although he wouldn't duel to the death just for kicks)
(3) Elorin: (lol)
(4) Derrel: Some people...You mention a ghost turning people into pillows and they think you're crazy.
(2) Kibin: (Hehehe...)
(3) Elorin: (hmm, int to damage from Swashbuckler, int to AC from Duelist... is Kaylin about to have competition for "smartest party member"?)
(4) Derrel: Wonder how he'd react to something like a mind flayer?
(1) GM: (If he's bright)
(2) Kibin (whispering): But the duelist is in on a secret that the person isn't. The duelist surrenders when at a third of lifepoints or less.
(2) Kibin (whispering): They added new variant rules for campaigns. :)
(4) Derrel: (I wonder if I could take a feat to add Int to To-Hit?)
(2) Kibin: (Haha. :P)
(1) GM: Already adding it to damage, and a Full-BAB class to begin with. Umm... no.
(3) Elorin: (there's probably a PrC somewhere with that as a class ability)
(1) GM: So, you hust had a very fast Halfling run away from you. What are you going to do next/
(1) Jason: ?
(3) Elorin: (but I don't think there's any feat for it)
(2) Kibin: Okay...
(2) Kibin: I guess we leave the Halfling alone.
(4) Derrel: Do you think the ghost will try to possess him again?
(4) Derrel: (Yeah, but there's nothing saying you can't craft your own feats and it's in line with what a feat can do...)
(2) Kibin: Who knows?
(4) Derrel: Maybe we should scry on him sometime tonight?
(4) Derrel: And the next time, maybe we shouldn't mention the pillows...
(3) Elorin: (a feat for int instead of strength/dex, yes, but not in addition to, like you're getting for damage and AC)
(2) Kibin: Derrel, YOU mentioned the pillows.
(4) Derrel: (Sure, that would be fine)
(2) Kibin: We could have gone happily without him knowing about the pillows.
(4) Derrel: Well, no-one told me. I was just trying to apprise him of the situation.
(3) Elorin: If he's not repossessed, I don't see much point to scrying on him. If he is, that ghost has some sort of protection against scrying so it wouldn't work.
(1) Jason: Kaylin: We could alwasy check the surrounding area; it's hard to say how far he traveled.
(1) Jason: Kaylin: Or just wait for Jason to come back from whereever he goes.
(2) Kibin: I say wait.
(2) Kibin: Waiting is GOOD.
(2) Kibin: (Sweet! Darkside sorcerers!)
(3) Elorin: I don't see much choice but to just keep our guard up and try to find out what is keeping that gnome from Final Rest.
(2) Kibin: Yeah, I guess so.
(3) Elorin: As a ghost, seeking him out and killing him won't accomplish anything.
(1) Jason: So, full rest, other than whoever takes watch?
(1) Jason: [1d3] -> [1] = (1)
whispering to Jason, [1d3] -> [1] = (1)
whispering to Jason, [1d3] -> [1] = (1)
whispering to Jason, [1d3] -> [3] = (3)
(1) Jason: Maybe Heal everyon up in the meanwhile?
(2) Kibin: (Why do we need healing?)
(1) Jason: Ability damge, you never know when it might come up again....
(3) Elorin: (let's see, Heal for Derrel because of ability damage. I don't think anyone else is hurt)
(4) Derrel: (Derrel has statistics loss)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(4) Derrel: Thanks.
(1) Jason: So... camping out?
(1) Jason: In the vault? A dorm? Elsewhere?
(2) Kibin: (Wow. Tainted sorcerer is awsome.)
(1) Jason: (? Movie?)
(1) Jason: (Perusing a new D&D book?)
(2) Kibin: (Hehe. Nope. SRD.)
(2) Kibin: (Tainted warriors too.)
(3) Elorin: (uh, where?)
(2) Kibin: (New stuff on the site I use in variant rules.)
(2) Kibin: (Sweet. Incantations.)
(1) Jason: Anyway... camping... who's on watch?
(1) Jason: And camping where?
(1) Jason: For the time it takes jason to come back?
(2) Kibin: (Yes, we're camping.)
(1) Jason: Location? Watch scedual? Roll randomly?
(2) Kibin: (In the wagon and carrage, With me keeping watch.)
(1) Jason: Okay; spot check?
(3) Elorin: (me on watch too, as always)
(3) Elorin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [1,10] = (11)
(4) Derrel: (Spot is running. Don't you know that?)
(1) Jason: Elorin dosn't see spot.
(1) Jason: Kibin? Spot check?
(4) Derrel: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+1] -> [12,1] = (13)
(3) Elorin: (now if I actually had Spot as a class skill and put ranks in it...)
(1) Jason: Kibin? You said you wanted to keep watch.....
(2) Kibin: [1d20+13] -> [7,13] = (20)
(3) Elorin: (I could have +28, then)
(2) Kibin: (I'm reading the new variant rules.)
(1) Jason: Well, pity nobody sees anything... until a quick chanting is heard.
(1) Jason: Reflex saves....
(3) Elorin: Reflex save: [1d20+19] -> [17,19] = (36)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+23] -> [11,23] = (34)
(2) Kibin: (My reflex save owns you all. :P)
** (3) Elorin thinks he just evaded something **
(1) Jason: Including the wagon: [1d20+1] -> [13,1] = (14)
(4) Derrel: Reflex save: [1d20+11] -> [8,11] = (19)
(4) Derrel: (http://www.closetgamers.com/forum/index.php?topic=349.0)
(1) Jason: A line of Fire blows through the camp.....
(1) Jason: [10d6] -> [5,1,2,6,4,5,5,2,5,6] = (41)
(2) Kibin: (I guess I dodge?)
(1) Jason: Spellcraft check?
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [3,18] = (21)
(1) Jason: DC 25 - Yep, Elorin and Kibin evade, Derrel, however, takes 41 fire damge.
(4) Derrel: (BRB)
whispering to Elorin, you're not sure how a line of lighting catches fire, but that's what happened.....
(1) Jason: The wagon also takes full damage.... but remains on it's wheels. Bareley.
(1) Jason: Roll for initiative.
(2) Kibin: [1d20+6] -> [14,6] = (20)
(1) Jason: [1d20] -> [14] = (14)
(3) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [19,6] = (25)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+1] -> [11,1] = (12)
(1) GM: Derrel got a 12....
(1) GM: Elorin, Kibin, Critter, Derrel.
(3) Elorin: (about the wagon, I think objects take half damage minus hardness from fire)
(1) GM: Wagon: [1d20] -> [19] = (19)
(2) Kibin: (Yup.)
(1) GM: (It's an animated object, not just an object; it gets it's HP as a creature, although it does have hardness)
(1) GM: Elorin, Kibin, Wagon, Critter, Derrel.
(1) GM: Elorin?
** (3) Elorin looks for the source of the line of fire **
(1) GM: Looking around for the source of the fire?
** (2) Kibin hmmmphs. Why were WE picked for the ghost to terroize? **
(1) GM: You spot the Gnomish Ghost, 25 feet from you.
(1) GM: Make two fort saves.
(1) GM: He looks just awful.
(3) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+15] -> [15,15] = (30)
(3) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+15] -> [5,15] = (20)
(1) GM: DC 29; Charisma: [1d4] -> [1] = (1); HP: [2d10] -> [3,7] = (10)
(3) Elorin: (woohoo! I think I passed on the really nasty one, and that means I can't be affected by it for 24 hours! :D)
(1) GM: (Str/Dex/Con, yep!)
(1) GM: And it's your turn.
** (2) Kibin makes sure to avert his gaze. **
(3) Elorin: (hmm, let's see if we can prevent that contingency from going off so we get at least 2d4 days of respite this time)
** (3) Elorin shoots at the doll that glowed each time he escaped in the past **
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+31] -> [7,31] = (38)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [5,1,5,17,0] = (28)

(4) Derrel: (...Shouldn't we get XP each time we defeat him?)
(1) GM: No ranged sundering, sorry.
(1) GM: you can shoot at him, though.
(2) Kibin: (Which would mean he teleports and gets out of our hair for another day. :)
(1) GM: Three potential hits: 50 or less on a given die misses due to incorporeality: [3d100] -> [27,17,30] = (74)
(1) GM: Three of your arrows pass through him harmlessly, the other is pushed to the side by some force you can't see.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(1) GM: You only get XP for defeating him once... and so far, he's just retreated in a prepared fasion. might give Xp for the barbarian host earlier, though.
(1) GM: Averted gaze - two 50% miss chances: [2d100] -> [39,83] = (122)
(2) Kibin: (Oh. :P)
(1) GM: Make one Fort save.
(2) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [14,11] = (25)
(2) Kibin: (Failed...)
(1) GM: Failure. Take [1d4] -> [4] = (4) charisma and [2d10] -> [4,2] = (6) HP damage.
(1) GM: Kibin starts looking ugly.
(2) Kibin: (As if I had much of a personality in the first place.)
(1) GM: Carful - when it hits 0, you're effectively paralized....
(2) Kibin: (Charisma isn't physical beauty, it's forcefulness of personality...)
(1) GM: Totally helpless....
(2) Kibin: (Can you stop trying to scare me? I still have 5 left.)
(1) GM: Yes, and it's a Corrupting gaze; his hide cracks and peels a bit, as he stops being quite so sure of himself.
(1) GM: (Meh, two more rounds of that, on average....)
(1) GM: (four, if you include the miss chance....)
(2) Kibin: (Don't forget I'm a kobold again. :P)
(1) GM: Actions?
** (2) Kibin runs up to go thwack the stupid ghost and make it teleport away. Stupid ghost. **
(1) GM: Unfortunately, he's 5 feet in the air....
(2) Kibin: (Oh. :P)
(2) Kibin: (Well then...)
(2) Kibin: (I run over there and attack him? x.x)
(1) GM: Standing directly underneath so you can just barely reach?
(2) Kibin: (Oh wait. That's beyond my reach. :P)
(2) Kibin: (I think.)
(1) GM: (He gets a +1 ad-hock AC for higher ground, but yes, you can just barely reach his floating feet)
(3) Elorin: (oh yeah, we are of course trying to wake up Derrel and Kaylin through loud noise)
(2) Kibin: (Nope, 4 feet reach.)
(2) Kibin: (That's out of my range.)
(3) Elorin: (+1 foot jump :P)
(1) GM: Well, you can't do that, then, not as a kobold.
(2) Kibin: (Or reach. :P)
** (2) Kibin hmmms. Too high for him. He lets Elorin activate the contingency. **
(1) GM: And it's a standard actino to change forms....
(2) Kibin: (Hold action, just in case something actually happens.)
(1) GM: Delay? Okay. Let me know when you want to move....
(3) Elorin: (you could change form to something that can hit, you know)
(1) GM: The wagon just stands there.
(1) GM: And the ghost casts a spell.....
(2) Kibin: (Ideas?)
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [20,18] = (38)
(1) GM: And nothing visibly changes.
(1) GM: Derrel?
(4) Derrel: (...'visibly')
(3) Elorin: (38 spellcraft doesn't identify it???)
(4) Derrel: (Does Derrel wake up?)
(2) Kibin: That's odd.
whispering to Elorin, Resilient Sphere
(3) Elorin: (ah)
(1) GM: Yes, everyone's awake - the wagon tried to dodge, and that's kinda noticeable ....
(1) GM: Oh, and derrel - Fort saves.....
(2) Kibin (whispering): Me and my rogue senses say that it's a... dispel magic targeted on himself.
(3) Elorin (whispering): hmm, Resilient Sphere is a "shimmering globe", so I should be able to see it
(4) Derrel: Fortitude save: [1d20+15] -> [20,15] = (35)
(4) Derrel: Fortitude save: [1d20+15] -> [9,15] = (24)
(1) GM: Ah, right; ah well; a Shimmering globe of surrounds him then, not a fully invisible one.
(1) GM: Beat the first, failed the second; take [1d4] -> [4] = (4) charisma, [2d10] -> [6,9] = (15) hp.
(4) Derrel: (Which spell hedges out mind control, again?)
(1) GM: Protectio From
(2) Kibin: (Magic Circle against Evil.)
(1) GM: Evil
(3) Elorin: (Magic Circle Against Evil)
(1) GM: Or Magic Circle Against Evil.
** (4) Derrel casts MCAE, then. **
(3) Elorin: (or Protection From Evil, but MCAE is an area effect and lasts longer)
** (2) Kibin wanders over near Derrel. **
(3) Elorin: (not that he can try to possess anyone while that globe is there)
(1) GM: Delayed action taken; you are now in the initiative count just after Derrel's turn.
(1) GM: Elorin?
(4) Derrel: (Derrel doesn't know what that globe is. Neither do I, for that matter)
(2) Kibin: (I do. :P)
(1) GM: (But Kibin doesn't! :P)
(2) Kibin: (Yes he does. :P)
(2) Kibin: (Or at least a good idea.)
(1) GM: Oh, you're right; silly me....
** (3) Elorin mutters. "bah. pesky Resilient Sphere. blocks what I was going to do" **
(3) Elorin: Oh well...
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Dispel Magic ( level 3, "Cancels spells and magical effects" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: (and the Sphere vanishes)
(1) GM: Dispel check?
(2) Kibin: (A dispel check is needed?)
(3) Elorin: ("The sphere is not subject to damage of any sort except from a rod of cancellation, a rod of negation, a disintegrate spell, or a targeted dispel magic spell. These effects destroy the sphere without harm to the subject.")
(3) Elorin: (doesn't mention needing a dispel check there)
(2) Kibin: (Yeah. Instantly destroyed.)
(2) Kibin: (Now, can Kaylin follow up with a magic missle... please?)
(1) GM: It also doesn't spell out that a Rod of Negation, Cancellation, and a Disintigrate need touch attacks.
(1) GM: Dispel check?
(3) Elorin: [1d20+10] -> [9,10] = (19)
(1) GM: The shimmer stays.
(1) GM: Kaylin directs the wagon to move out of a handy line.....
Kaylin casts Dispel Magic ( level 3, "Cancels magical spells and effects." )
Kaylin can cast Dispel Magic 1 more time
Kaylin casts Dispel Magic ( level 3, "Cancels magical spells and effects." )
Kaylin can cast Dispel Magic 0 more times
(4) Derrel: (Twice?)
(2) Kibin: (She does have it quickened.
(1) GM: Silly program, not wanting to cast ti the first time I click... grr....
(1) GM: Ah well, a quickend one... that works..
(2) Kibin: (On the subject of that... Why not use a disintergrate? Instant destroying. :)
(1) GM: [1d20+10] -> [1,10] = (11); [1d20+10] -> [7,10] = (17)
(2) Kibin: (And she can follow up with a quickened fireball.)
(1) GM: Dat's a good point.....
(4) Derrel: (Only one quickened spell a turn)
(3) Elorin: (if you're going to use a spell slot that high level, why not use disintigrate?)
(3) Elorin: (much more reliable)
(2) Kibin: (That's what I jsut said. Regular disintergrate, quickened fireball.)
(3) Elorin: (then follow up with the quickened Dimensional Anchor she might have prepared)
(1) GM: Mostly, though, it's an issue that the interface I'm using want's to be annoying at the moment....
(3) Elorin: (and then we can try getting a decent 2d4 days of not being ambushed)
(1) GM: She didn't have any of those prepared in the node she sent me, so regular Dispel magic it was.... which failed.
(1) GM: Ghost's turn......
(2) Kibin: (x.x)
(1) GM: He smiles, and casts a spell......
(1) GM: and vanishes from view.
(1) GM: Spellcraft?
(2) Kibin: Huh?
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [4,18] = (22)
whispering to Elorin, Invisibility
(2) Kibin: (Resiliant sphere and all?)
(1) GM: The sphere stays right where it is.
(3) Elorin: Great
(3) Elorin: An invisible ghost about to move
(2) Kibin: Isn't that globe a force effect? And etheral creatures can't mvoe through it?
(1) GM: Derrel's turn....
(3) Elorin: Yes, it'll have to dismiss the sphere first, but we can't get at it before that
** (4) Derrel tries poking his sword through the globe. **
(2) Kibin: Okay...
(4) Derrel: (How big is the globe?)
(1) GM: And hits a VERY solid barrier.
(1) GM: 7 foot diameter.
(2) Kibin: SO can't Kaylin erect a force wall of her own?
(1) GM: Those are flat. And Gaze attacks work through them.
(1) GM: Kibin? Doing anything?
(2) Kibin: (Such as?)
(3) Elorin: (uh, 7-ft diameter means 7th caster level, which means DC 18 to dispel. I rolled 19 when I tried)
(1) GM: Ah, right.... ah well. Silly me, not assigning the used caster level till later... down it is.
Kaylin casts Magic Missile ( level 1, "1d4+1 damage; +1 missile per two levels above 1st (max 5)." )
Kaylin can cast Magic Missile 1 more time
(1) GM: then we'll have Kaylin try for magic missles.... which hit a shield shaped wall of force underneath, and do nothin.
(1) GM: Oh, and she needs to make her for saves... averted vision....
(1) GM: [2d100] -> [48,36] = (84)
(3) Elorin: (Shield spell?)
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [3,18] = (21)
(1) GM: Both miss.
** (2) Kibin scoots closer inside Derrel's magic circle against evil. **
whispering to Elorin, Yep.
(1) GM: Ghost still goes invisible on it's turn, and we get back to Derrel on the revision of history....
** (4) Derrel waits. **
(1) GM: Delay? Okay.
(1) GM: Kibin/
(2) Kibin: (Hey. Everyone in this circle gets +2 with their saves and AC.)
(1) GM: Sticking close to Derrel, then.....
(1) GM: Elorin?
** (3) Elorin moves to within Derrel's Circle and prepares Dimensional Anchor for when the ghost attacks again **
(1) GM: Move and ready to cast the ghost as soon as you see it?
(3) Elorin: (yep)
(2) Kibin: (The ghost is supposed to make a fortitude save to return, you know.)
(2) Kibin: (Or was that a will save...)
(1) GM: (DC 16 HD check)
(1) GM: Not a save....
(2) Kibin: (Ah.)
Kaylin casts See Invisibility ( level 2, "Reveals invisible creatures or objects." )
Kaylin can cast See Invisibility 1 more time
(1) GM: And rolls for averted vision.... [2d100] -> [25,12] = (37)
(1) GM: Kaylin: There!
(1) GM: Kaylin points to a spot in space, 25 feet away from the party....
** (2) Kibin hmmmphs. "Why do ghosts have to be etheral. Why can't they just be invisible." **
(1) GM: Not that it matters, as it's the Ghost's turn....
** (2) Kibin prepares for ouch time. **
(2) Kibin: (That's not good.)
(1) GM: And a beast appears right next to Derrel, and attacks!
(1) GM: [1d20+10] -> [3,10] = (13), [1d20+10] -> [16,10] = (26) for [1d3+2] -> [2,2] = (4), [1d3+2] -> [1,2] = (3)
(1) GM: You hear the sounds of casting....
(1) GM: Spellcraft check?
(2) Kibin: (Hey. This circle protects from all non-good summoned creatures!
(3) Elorin: (darn summon monster not breaking invis)
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [8,18] = (26)
whispering to Elorin, Greater Shadow Conjouration ... make a Will save.
(2) Kibin: (The natual attacks of that summoned creature wouldn't work against Derrel.)
(4) Derrel: (I held action - Can I attack?)
(1) GM: Yes, you can.
(4) Derrel: +5 Oraneormu #1 Attack Roll: [1d20+24] -> [20,24] = (44)===> DMG: [1d8+5+2d6+4] -> [5,5,2,5,4] = (21)
(4) Derrel: +5 Oraneormu #2 Attack Roll: [1d20+19] -> [11,19] = (30)===> DMG: [1d8+5+2d6+4] -> [3,5,6,4,4] = (22)
(4) Derrel: +5 Oraneormu #3 Attack Roll: [1d20+14] -> [1,14] = (15)===> DMG: [1d8+5+2d6+4] -> [3,5,2,1,4] = (15)
(1) GM: Oh, and make a Will save.
(3) Elorin: Will save: [1d20+22] -> [4,22] = (26)
(4) Derrel: Will save: [1d20+11] -> [7,11] = (18)
(1) GM: And what's your AC?
(2) Kibin: (Does it matter with the magic circle's effects?)
whispering to Elorin, Sure looks real to you.....
(1) GM: Strangely, no.
(1) GM: Derrel - AC/
(4) Derrel: (Um)
(4) Derrel: AC: [34] -> 34
(4) Derrel: (I think)
(1) GM: Well, +4 Full Plate, +4 Large Shield; 12+6+10+Dex;
(1) GM: Which is capped at 1. Assuming you slept in your armor.....
(2) Kibin: (He ALWAYS sleeps in his armor.)
(1) GM: Which would make him fatigued....
(4) Derrel: (37?)
(4) Derrel: (Fatigued is better than armorless, for a knight-type)
(2) Kibin: (And Elorin can fix that easily. :P)
(1) GM: +4 (armor enhancement); +8 (Armor); +4 (Shield Enhancement); +2 (Shield); +10 (base medium creature)
(3) Elorin: (+2 natural armor +2 deflection +1 insight)
(1) GM: Ah, that would raise it by +5; is the deflection from the circle or a ring?
(3) Elorin: (both, I think)
(1) GM: Both blows from the beast miss.
(2) Kibin: (But the Magic Circle prevents non-good summoned creatures from attacking anyone inside the circle...)
(2) Kibin: (With touch attacks at least.)
(4) Derrel: (29?)
(3) Elorin: (it could have SR)
(1) GM: it's AC is only 16, so it takes lots of damage and dies under the Paladin's Blade.
(2) Kibin: (15 to be exact.)
(2) Kibin: (But it still needs to break SR.)
(4) Derrel: (Is my AC 29?)
(1) GM: I'm getting 33 or 34; do you have a dex of at least 12?
(1) GM: If so, 34.
(2) Kibin: (Ow my head hurts. Let's just continue.)
(1) GM: Kibin's turn.
(3) Elorin: Kaylin, do you have Glitterdust prepared?
** (2) Kibin sighs, and waits for one of the spellcasters to shoot it. **
(4) Derrel: (Thanks)
(2) Kibin: (Hold action if I find anything interesting to use with my turn.)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Yes....
(3) Elorin: Use it, please
(1) GM: Elorin's turn again.....
(1) GM: Delaying?
** (3) Elorin waits for the ghost to be made visible **
(1) GM: Kaylin: Miss chance: [2d100] -> [70,9] = (79)
(2) Kibin: (No. Holding action.)
(1) GM: Fortitude save: [1d20+11] -> [8,11] = (19)
(1) GM: Failed Fort.... [1d4] -> [1] = (1), [1d4] -> [3] = (3), [1d4] -> [1] = (1)
(1) GM: And she casts.....
** (2) Kibin hopes for the best. **
(1) GM: Hmm.... should something that's incorporeal be affected by Conjouration(Creation) dust settling in the area?
(1) GM: Hmm.... oh, incorporeal miss chance, I suppose....
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [11] = (11)
Kaylin casts Glitterdust ( level 2, "Blinds creatures, outlines invisible creatures." )
Kaylin can cast Glitterdust 0 more times
(3) Elorin: (that means it hits, right?)
(1) GM: A bunch of dust settles to the ground about 25 feet from Derrel....
(1) GM: Kaylin looks rather annoyed.
(1) GM: And it's the ghost's turn......
(1) GM: Elorin, what's your touch AC?
(2) Kibin: (Add two if you're in the circle.)
(2) Kibin: (And subtract the dexterity bonus.)
(1) GM: [1d20+8] -> [9,8] = (17), striking invisibly....
(3) Elorin: (hmm, "A manifested ghost can be harmed only by other incorporeal creatures, magic weapons, or spells, with a 50% chance to ignore any damage from a corporeal source.")
(3) Elorin: (doesn't mention non-damaging effects)
(2) Kibin: (Yup.)
(2) Kibin: (So it should be visible?)
(1) GM: Yeah, but it's a Conjouration(Creation) effect, which makes objects; so the spell's dust qualifies as being a corporeal source.....
(1) GM: I just picked something and ran with it; a chance that's not totally arbitrary.
(2) Kibin: (Meh. Let's just continue the battle.)
(1) GM: The ghost reappears just long enough to send a black ray streaking at Elorin.... which hits.
(1) GM: he then steps down underground.
(1) GM: [1d4] -> [4] = (4)
(1) GM: Take four negative levels.....
(3) Elorin: (well, flat-footed touch AC. 13, I think)
(1) GM: Rolled a net 17. yep, a hit.
(2) Kibin: Where's Jason when you need him...
(4) Derrel: (If this continues...We're all going to end up with new characters)
(3) Elorin: (I had a readied action to cast Dimensional Anchor at him...)
(1) GM: Spellcraft check?
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Dimensional Anchor ( level 4, "Bars extradimensional movement" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [1,18] = (19)
(1) GM: then your turn came up, so the readied action expired; you then said you were delaying, hoping you could zap him after Kaylin cast.
(1) GM: The readied action was two rounds ago, when he brought forth chaos.
(1) GM: Delay, unfortunately, interrupts initiative, not someone's action.
(2) Kibin: (Let's just let the recurring villian recur someplace else.)
(3) Elorin: (I would consider "waiting for " to be a readied action, especially when I state the action I plan in response)
(1) GM: But you can take your turn now to do something about the negative levels...
(3) Elorin: (arg, angle brackets)
whispering to Elorin, Enervation; but he did something to it....
(3) Elorin: (that was "waiting for [Bad dice format] - [specific event]")
(1) GM: Well, okay; let it work; touch attack roll?
(2) Kibin: (x.x)
(3) Elorin: [1d20+11+6+6+1] -> [8,11,6,6,1] = (32)
(2) Kibin: (This is only going to cause more pain and suffering for us, I hope you know.)
(1) GM: You manage to tag the ghost before he retreats underground...
(4) Derrel: (He's not going to stop untill we're dead or pillows...)
(2) Kibin: (He can't keep me as a pillow. :)
(1) GM: And.... Derrel's turn.
** (4) Derrel runs over and whacks at him. **
(4) Derrel: +5 Oraneormu Charge+Smite #1 Attack Roll: [1d20+31] -> [19,31] = (50)===> DMG: [1d8+20+2d6+4] -> [6,20,4,4,4] = (38)
(4) Derrel: +5 Oraneormu #2 Attack Roll: [1d20+19] -> [10,19] = (29)===> DMG: [1d8+5+2d6+4] -> [2,5,3,3,4] = (17)
(4) Derrel: +5 Oraneormu #3 Attack Roll: [1d20+14] -> [3,14] = (17)===> DMG: [1d8+5+2d6+4] -> [5,5,6,5,4] = (25)
(2) Kibin: (Oh, joy! You just hit the ground!)
(1) GM: He's underground. You hit the dirt?
(4) Derrel: (Oh. Nevermind, then.)
(3) Elorin: (ready action to charge, or just delay)
(4) Derrel: (Ready action to charge him when he pops up)
** (2) Kibin yawns. **
(1) GM: Can't charge when Fatigued from sleeping in armor.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(4) Derrel: (Ok, then, just a normal run and attack)
** (2) Kibin yawns. And delays. **
(1) GM: Which is two actions, can't be readied.
(3) Elorin: (so just delay)
(1) GM: Kaylin zips over and joins everyone in the circle...
(1) GM: ... and the critter springs back up a ways off and casts a spell.....
(1) GM: Elorin, make a Fort save.
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [17,18] = (35)
whispering to Elorin, Flesh to Stone.
(2) Kibin: (It's flesh to stone.)
(3) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+15] -> [18,15] = (33)
(1) GM: -4 from negative levels....
(3) Elorin: (so 29. I think that still passes)
(1) GM: And you stay fleshy.
(3) Elorin: (phew)
(1) GM: And it's your turn again.
(4) Derrel: (I think we should change our battle cry to 'They have to run out of spells sometime!')
(1) GM: Averted vision miss chance?
(2) Kibin: (Heh. Now I wait until I can put my rogue skills of avoiding combat to use...)
(3) Elorin: (yes, eventually. But he's a sorcerer and they get lots of spells per day)
(3) Elorin: (low misses [1d100] -> [15] = (15))
(1) GM: No fort save for you!
(3) Elorin: (how far away is he?)
(1) GM: 25 feet.
(1) GM: Point-blank range.
(1) GM: Oh, and you also lost four of your highest-level spell slots from the enervation....
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 7 Spell ( level 7, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 7 Spell ( level 7, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 7 Spell ( level 7, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(4) Derrel: (If nothing else in this round, Derrel uses his Lay on Hands to heal himself)
(1) GM: He's standing right there.... you would have a chance to strike with a move and attack....
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Divine Power ( level 4, "You gain attack bonus, +6 to Str, and 1 hp/level" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) GM: And Derrel's turn comes back up.
(4) Derrel: +5 Oraneormu Smite #1 Attack Roll: [1d20+29] -> [6,29] = (35)===> DMG: [1d8+20+2d6+4] -> [4,20,4,5,4] = (37)
(1) GM: AC 37. You miss, just barely, glancing off a field of force right on his chest.
(1) GM: Oraneorumu can heal you a little.....
(1) GM: [2d8+3] -> [7,2,3] = (12)
** (4) Derrel suggests that to the sword **
(1) GM: Kibin?
(4) Derrel: (Can do that telepathically, right?)
(1) GM: She decided you were hurt and still in battle, so.....
(1) GM: But yes, you can.
** (2) Kibin keeps up with the magic circle. And to humor everyone, tries poking the ghost with his sword. **
** (4) Derrel thanks Oran **
(2) Kibin: (Still averting gaze, of course.)
(1) GM: Miss chances: [2d100] -> [79,7] = (86)
(1) GM: Let's see.. have you saved vs. the first in th last 24 hours?
(1) GM: Don't think so... make a Fort save.
(2) Kibin: (No...)
(2) Kibin: (It's nearly impossible to save.)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [19,11] = (30)
(2) Kibin: (Well, I could be wrong.)
(1) GM: DC 29. You passed.
(1) GM: Attack roll?
(3) Elorin: (congrats, join the club of people immune to Horrid Appearance for 24 hours :D)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+20] -> [11,20] = (31)
(2) Kibin: (Phooey.)
(1) GM: AC 37. Your blow glances off an invisible field of force on it's arm.
** (2) Kibin hmmmphs. Didn't even do anything. **
(1) GM: Kaylin's turn....
Kaylin casts Polar Ray ( level 8, "A ray of frost deals 1d6 damage/level at close range." )
Kaylin can cast Polar Ray 0 more times
(1) GM: Touch: [1d20+7+2] -> [14,7,2] = (23)
** (2) Kibin is thankful for Ghost's low amount of hitpoints. **
(1) GM: And the ray is diverted by a supernatural force.
** (2) Kibin sighs. **
(1) GM: Oh, and she needs to do the averted vision thing herself....
(1) GM: [2d100] -> [10,27] = (37)
(1) GM: And she needs make no saves this round.
(1) GM: Kaylin also joins the Paladin in the Circle - she's no fool....
(1) GM: Critter's turn.....
(2) Kibin: (+2 for saves and AC isn't something to laugh about. :)
(1) GM: The ghost backs off into the air....
(1) GM: AoO's?
** (2) Kibin tries to poke the ghost. **
(2) Kibin: [1d20+20] -> [7,20] = (27)
(4) Derrel: +5 Oraneormu Smite #1 Attack Roll: [1d20+29] -> [13,29] = (42)===> DMG: [1d8+20+2d6+4] -> [4,20,5,3,4] = (36)
(1) GM: Miss and.... [1d100] -> [86] = (86)
(1) GM: A miss and a Hit! Oraneormu smashes into the Ghost.... his doll glows, and he stays right where he is....
(1) GM: Oddly, he looks like he could take two more of those....
(1) GM: Ain't undead d12 HD grand?
(1) GM: And the ghost casts a spell....
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [3,18] = (21)
(1) GM: [1d20+8] -> [5,8] = (13)
whispering to Elorin, Enervation again....
(3) Elorin: (if that's his touch attack, it's a miss)
(2) Kibin: (And if he teleported successfully, we could all be asleep in our beds...)
(3) Elorin: (not even close)
(1) GM: What's your Touch AC (with Dex, this time), and did you follow for the circle?
(1) GM: The black ray misses it's target....
(1) GM: Elorin?
(3) Elorin: (yes, I move into the circle after casting, and my touch AC is [10+6+2+1] -> 19)
(1) GM: Not even close.
(4) Derrel: (Within 30%)
(4) Derrel: (Or at)
(3) Elorin: (I like having high dex :D)
(1) GM: hmm... 50/50 chance exactly...
(2) Kibin: (Me too.)
(1) GM: Perfect.
(1) GM: Elorin's turn.....
(1) GM: Zappity?
(2) Kibin: (Please blast the ghsot into obliviojn.)
(1) GM: Or pincusion?
(3) Elorin: (net +1 from Divine Power and negative levels)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+31] -> [13,31] = (44)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [5,6,2,17,0] = (30)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+31] -> [20,31] = (51)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [2,5,5,17,0] = (29)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 3) Attack Roll: [1d20+26] -> [19,26] = (45)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [4,5,5,17,0] = (31)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 4) Attack Roll: [1d20+21] -> [10,21] = (31)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [6,3,4,17,0] = (30)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 5) Attack Roll: [1d20+16] -> [7,16] = (23)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [5,5,4,17,0] = (31)
(1) GM: He is again 25 feet away.....
(2) Kibin: (Pointy.)
(1) GM: AC 37, three potential hits [3d100] -> [39,95,56] = (190)
(2) Kibin: (60 damage.)
(1) GM: Two arrows hit the ghost for grand total of 60 damage... and it's still in the air....
(2) Kibin: (x.x)
(3) Elorin: (but not for much longer, I bet)
(1) GM: Although it doesn't look like it's doing too well.... it's starting to wave in the wind....
(3) Elorin: (d12 hit dice, yes, but no constitution)
(1) GM: Which is odd, as there isn't any...
(2) Kibin: (120 HP maximum.)
(4) Derrel: (240, actually, with max rolls and 20 HD)
(1) GM: (The move from d4's to d12's averages a difference of 4 HP/HD... and you don't know exactly what level he's at...)
(4) Derrel: (That assumes all HD are ghost)
(2) Kibin: (But for a level 15 opponent, it would be 120 HP maximum.)
(1) GM: there's a nifty line under the ghost template;
(2) Kibin: (Oh wait.)
(1) GM: All current and future hit dice become d12's.....
(4) Derrel: (180)
(1) GM: Derrel?
(2) Kibin: (No. 120. From 10 hitdice.)
(4) Derrel: +5 Oraneormu Smite #1 Attack Roll: [1d20+29] -> [9,29] = (38)===> DMG: [1d8+20+2d6+4] -> [7,20,1,3,4] = (35)
(4) Derrel: +5 Oraneormu #2 Attack Roll: [1d20+19] -> [18,19] = (37)===> DMG: [1d8+5+2d6+4] -> [1,5,2,4,4] = (16)
(4) Derrel: (Or is he too far?)
(1) GM: Airborne, and out of reach.
(2) Kibin: (Two hits.)
(2) Kibin: (I loathe this ghost.)
(1) GM: You might want to consider a backup weapon....
(1) GM: maybe some early morning castings of GMW from Elorin on a bow....
(1) GM: Trying anything?
(2) Kibin: (Video games...)
(3) Elorin: (every character should always have at least a backup ranged weapon IMO)
(4) Derrel: (Nope, nothing to do)
(2) Kibin: (I do have a backup ranged weapon. It's called I can Fly.)
(3) Elorin: (too easy to completely neutralize several party members, otherwise)
(1) GM: Oh, I don't know... you could try for an improvised thrown Longsword...
(4) Derrel: (Oh, right - Doesn't he have boots of flying?)
(3) Elorin: (which he would then have to pick up again, since it's not returning)
(1) GM: True.
(1) GM: I think so... and I also believe they are Command word activation.....
(3) Elorin: (Derrel does have Winged Boots, but they take a standard action to activate)
(1) GM: (Standard Action, no AoO)
(3) Elorin: (but it lasts 50 rounds, so the battle should be long done before you need to do it again)
** (4) Derrel quietly activates them, but remains on the ground for now) **
(1) GM: Kibin?
(2) Kibin: (*plays xbox from his computer chair as he waits for ranged combatants to finish up*)
(2) Kibin: (Nothing that I can do, so I delay.(
(3) Elorin: (oh, right, can't use your sword in dragon form and your claws aren't magical)
(1) GM: Kaylin's turn....
Kaylin casts Freezing Sphere ( level 6, "A frigid globe of cold energy deals 1d6/level (15d6 max)." )
Kaylin can cast Freezing Sphere 0 more times
(1) GM: Miss chance: [1d100] -> [96] = (96)
(3) Elorin: (hooray!)
(1) GM: A hit... Reflex save....
(2) Kibin: (Yay.)
(1) GM: [1d20+9] -> [13,9] = (22)
(3) Elorin: (DC 25 IIRC)
(1) GM: Pretty sure it's over 22, at least...
(1) GM: [15d6] -> [5,5,5,6,6,4,1,1,3,1,4,5,3,6,2] = (57)
(3) Elorin: (24 minimum, 25 if she has 28 intelligence like I think she does)
(2) Kibin: (The ghost should be dead already.)
(1) GM: And the Ghost discorporeates.
(2) Kibin: Can we go back to sleep now?
(1) GM: As the freezing cold shatters it's substance.
(3) Elorin: Phew
whispering to GM, [2d4] -> [4,2] = (6)
(3) Elorin: Well, that should grant us a few days of peace, at least
(1) GM: Doing anything before bed?
** (3) Elorin heals everyone **
(3) Elorin: (who's hurt?)
** (4) Derrel goes back to sleep. **
(4) Derrel: (Derrel)
(3) Elorin: (and who has ability damage?)
(2) Kibin: (Attribute damages.)
(2) Kibin: (4 charisma to be exact.)
(1) GM: Oh, pretty much everyone failed vs. a Gaze at some point....
(3) Elorin: (let's see, I'll recover my 1 Cha damage just by resting for the night, right?)
(1) GM: Yep.
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: (that covers everyone but me)
** (2) Kibin thanks Elorin, then happily goes to sleep. **
(3) Elorin: (and I'm out of 6+ level spell slots)
(1) GM: Next morining?
(3) Elorin: (sleep in to get full spells, then go peddle loot and go researching)
(2) Kibin: (We still need to wait for Jason...)
(1) GM: Well, in that case, Elorin - make four Fort saves
** (4) Derrel thanks Elorin when he wakes up. **
(4) Derrel: (...If he wakes up.)
(4) Derrel: (...Negative levels!
(4) Derrel: (Heal youself, Derrel can take care of himself)
(1) GM: He'll wake up - he might not be happy, but he'll wake up.
(3) Elorin: ("Usually, negative levels have a chance of permanently draining the victims levels, but the negative levels from enervation dont last long enough to do so.")
(1) GM: Extend Spell.
(1) GM: Over 24 hour duration.
(1) GM: Make four Fort saves.
(3) Elorin: ("Duration: Instantaneous")
(2) Kibin: (Eneveration does not last long enough to be permanent...)
(2) Kibin: (Meh. :P)
(2) Kibin: (The GM is very very evil. :P)
(2) Kibin: (And it takes 24 hours. So he'd know the negative levels are there in the morning. :P)
(2) Kibin: (Oh joy, police after me.)
(3) Elorin: (GTA?)
(2) Kibin: (Nah. Need for Speed Most Wanted.)
(3) Elorin: (even if Extend Spell does work that way, I've got until the next night)
(1) GM: "Assuming the subject survives, it regains lost levels after a number of hours equal to your caster level (maximum 15 hours)."
(1) GM: Ah, well, another day, then....
(1) GM: And you wake up feeling drained....
(3) Elorin: (ah, but that is not referred to in the Duration: field, so Extend Spell can't affect it)
(1) GM: Ah well... worth a shot...
(2) Kibin: (Negative levels suck. All that effort in leveling up, destroyed.)
(2) Kibin: (Just escaped from the police! CHEER FOR ME!)
(3) Elorin: (if you insisted anyway, I'd just spend 100 gp on casting Restoration, so it doesn't really matter very much)
(1) GM: Ture.
(1) GM: True.
(1) GM: Silly Keyboard....
(2) Kibin: (Destroyed three police cars! Totaled one by ramming from the side, let the traffic slam into another cop car, and landed a giant metal donut on the third.)
(1) GM: Kaylin reports that there is a town very nearby....
(1) GM: (For maximum points, steal a police car and run over people....)
(2) Kibin: (Can't steal on this game.)
(3) Elorin: (no, no, steal a TANK, and watch the police kill themselves by ramming you :P)
(2) Kibin: (You can't go on foot. Because if you go on foot, the cops capture you.)
(1) GM: (Ah, that's just GTA, then....)
(2) Kibin: (And tanks don't come after you. The closest to a tank is a police helicopter.
(3) Elorin: (I did that in GTA once, though I did use a cheat code to get the tank)
(2) Kibin: (You do know that they leave tanks lying around, right?)
(1) GM: Trying to head to town?
(2) Kibin: (At least in GTA 2.)
(2) Kibin: I say we go to the town.)
(3) Elorin: Big enough town to sell all this loot in?
(1) GM: (there's actually a place you can get one; when you do, you have access to the main gun for a short time....)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Should be...
(3) Elorin: (yeah, that main gun was fun for killing the targets of the 12 military/law enforcement missions)
(1) GM: Let's see... you were waiting for Jason, so...
(3) Elorin: (too bad there was some collateral damage)
(1) GM: Morning of the third day, Jason manages to show up.
(2) Kibin: (We wait at jason first! WHERE THE HECK IS JASON!)
(4) Derrel: Hello, nice to see you again.
(1) GM: Jason: You left it there. You've seen where I arrive back after getting swatted. And you left it there.
(1) GM: Jason: Do you have any idea how many times that thing tore me up?
(2) Kibin: Not really.
(1) GM: Jason: Of course not.....
(3) Elorin: I'm very sorry.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Hey! I died to that thing too!
(2) Kibin: Me too. Different one, but still died.
(3) Elorin: I should have thought of leaving a note when we couldn't figure out what was there immediately.
(1) GM: Jason: It's okay.....
(4) Derrel: Sorry.
(4) Derrel: I didn't know you would pop back up where you were.
(1) GM: Jason (a little bitterly): I always get better.... can't sleep.... haven't had a decent meal in a milenia....
(3) Elorin: While you've been gone, we've had some misadventures with another ghost.
(3) Elorin: A gnome, looks like a building fell on him, and he likes reshaping people
(1) GM: Jason: Don't you remember that first dragon we fought? He got me too... but you got him....
(4) Derrel: You could always ask to borrow a lunchtime.
(3) Elorin: Turned a whole village into pillows
(2) Kibin: You could try magically creating a living mindless body for you to reside in.
(1) GM: Jason: The mindless can't be readily possessed.... and the summons don't last that long.
(2) Kibin: Hmmm.
(1) GM: Jason: And it would be wrong to suppress someone for something so... frivoulous.
** (2) Kibin wonders what alignment Jason really is. **
(3) Elorin: (hmm, if I learned Summon Monster 1 and extended it 6 times, and cast during my morning buff routine...)
(4) Derrel: (TN)
(3) Elorin: ([20*7] -> 140 rounds duration)
(2) Kibin: (BE QUIET YOU! No OOC information.)
(3) Elorin: (14 minutes is long enough to eat a meal, right?)
(3) Elorin: (:P)
(1) GM: "Multiple Metamagic Feats on a Spell: A spellcaster can apply multiple metamagic feats to a single spell. Changes to its level are cumulative. You can’t apply the same metamagic feat more than once to a single spell."
** (2) Kibin says, "Some of us might relent to letting you use our body for a while. As long as you give it back to us at least." **
(3) Elorin: (darn it)
(3) Elorin: (I think that must be a change from 3.0 to 3.5 I missed)
(1) GM: (14 minutes is enough time for a very quick one, yes... but do note that a summoned creature doesn't die or dissapate at the end of the duration - it GOES HOME)
(1) GM: (It'd probably drag Jason with it, in that case....)
(1) GM: Hmm... cheap planar travel....
(3) Elorin: (that would be really wierd, summoned out of your home, possessed, forced to stuff itself, and then returned :P)
(2) Kibin: (Hehe.)
(3) Elorin: (do it right before dinner time :P)
(1) GM: Jason: Another ghost? A gnome? What's he been up to?
** (2) Kibin has his suggestion go unnoticed... **
(3) Elorin: Possessing unwilling people and turning people into living pillows
(1) GM: Jason: That's... not a bad idea, Kibin....
(1) GM: Jason: Ah. One of the lucky ones.
(2) Kibin: Lucky ones?
(3) Elorin: Huh?
(1) GM: Jason: He went insane.
(2) Kibin: Oh.
(4) Derrel: Oh.
(2) Kibin: Do you know why he hasn't gone to the great beyond or whatever?
(2) Kibin: Hmmm. I wonder where I went when I died.
(1) GM: Jason: No, no, not really... although if he's obsessed with something, it's probably closely related.
(1) GM: Jason: I know I was very busy my first couple of centuries... trying to wipe out that accursed flower....
(3) Elorin: Hmm, he's got a little doll that he carries around.
(2) Kibin: Yes, it teleports him away if we hurt him.
(1) GM: Spellcraft check?
(3) Elorin: He always has a contingency on it to teleport away when he gets hurt, but maybe it's a reminder of someone he cared about
** (2) Kibin fiddles around with his new dexterious fingers. **
(1) GM: Jason: More likely it's him, pre-death; as I recall from those who could manage it, such Contingent magicks require a representation of the perons they affect; if it's moving him....
(1) GM: Jason: ... well....
(3) Elorin: So much for that idea, then.
(1) GM: Jason: You said he was turning people into pillows?
(4) Derrel: (You said his ghost form looks like a building fell on him?)
(2) Kibin: Yup.
(1) GM: (Yep)
(3) Elorin: The whole village (city?) of Clifton (I think that's what it was called).
(1) GM: Jason: Anything else he might have said or done?
(4) Derrel: He could be obsessed with restoring his form - He looks like a building fell on him.
(3) Elorin: Except the blacksmith and one or two other people
(4) Derrel: He seems to regard turning people into pillows as engaging work.
(2) Kibin: Hey. We have a wizard with etheral jaunt...
(3) Elorin: Said it was part of his research
(1) GM: Jason: If you can change shapes at all changing your own form isn't too difficult.... strange...
(3) Elorin: He had set up a big store to sell the pillows
(4) Derrel: Which suggests the physical form is a result of mental impairment.
(2) Kibin: The people were shapechanged permanently.
(2) Kibin: No amount of magic could bring them back to their original form... unless you had a wish or something.
(3) Elorin: By completely undispellable means. Flesh to Stone, Stone to Mud, mold the mud, dispel, Stone to Flesh.
(1) GM: Jason: Ah. So about the only way to change back would be the same path... which someone else must do, and which will never be quite the same....
(1) GM: Jason: Strange though.... I have difficulty feeling my own death wound....
(2) Kibin: (Theoretically, a restoration could fix the effect too.)
(1) GM: Jason rubs a gash under his chin.
(3) Elorin: Yes. The blacksmith/wizard of the city is taking advantage of it quite thoroughly.
(1) GM: You notice his fingers don't dip into the gap, even as they go over it....
(2) Kibin: Hmmm. Wonder if Kaylin could make a spell to reverse the effects of that.
(3) Elorin: "Improved" her own form, and now she's charging for custom restorations after doing generic ones for everyone for free.
(1) GM: Jason: I know it's there, I have felt it on occasion.... but our own issues are well hidden from us.
(1) GM: Jason: If he's not sane, he won't even notice that he's crushed.
(2) Kibin: (Wouldn't Ressurection have restored the smiths form too? Since you don't need the whole body, jsut a piece of it.)
(3) Elorin: So, any ideas why he hasn't passed on?
(1) GM: Jason: Well, very nice of her. She'll probably be busy for a long time.....
(1) GM: Jason: If he's obsessed about research, that would be it. Which reminds me... I still haven't checked up on that flower-grower.... I need to remove some of his stock....
(3) Elorin: But research into what?
(2) Kibin: (Ahha! Restore Extremity, a psionic power that could be interpreted to restore people's forms.)
(4) Derrel: Other than my last suggestion, maybe he was an insomniac.
(2) Kibin: (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/restoreExtremity.htm)
** (4) Derrel is being dry. **
(3) Elorin: Huh, we never did investigate the back area of his store.
(1) GM: (Ressurection: Potentially - but she was thereafter in a form she'd chosen....)
(1) GM: Link
(2) Kibin: (I think being mutilated into a pillow would be considered a loss of an extremity.)
(2) Kibin: (*laughs at the 404 error*)
(3) Elorin: (add the e on the end of restore and remove l from html, and it works)
(1) GM: Let's try that again...
(3) Elorin: (but the 404 error is a good laugh, too)
(4) Derrel: (Yeah)
(2) Kibin: (It's a possibility. :)
(1) GM: (Yes, yes it is......)
(3) Elorin: (brb)
(2) Kibin: (But I don't know about the spell. So we need to find it out for ourselves.)
(1) GM: (You'd get one limb at a time, and they would retain the basic imposed body shape - it doesn't remove stuff, only adds - so you might have a chair with two legs, two arms, and a head, but .....)
(4) Derrel: (Well, that would be *Very* usefull for an Immortal...)
(4) Derrel: (Restores heads...)
(2) Kibin: (O.o)
(1) GM: (But not life)
(4) Derrel: (Yes...But the immortal does that himself)
(4) Derrel: (Highlander)
(2) Kibin: (You could also do weird applications of polymorph any object. Such as turning it into a construct, and using a spell to reform it's structure into what it once was, or something.)
(3) Elorin: (no, I'm pretty sure beheading was instant death for immortals in Highlander)
(3) Elorin: (restoring the head wouldn't do anything, because the life force would have already left)
(2) Kibin: (OR! We could get Kaylin to research a spell.)
(3) Elorin: (all those showy effects whenever one dies...)
(2) Kibin: (OR! The smith could research a spell herself.)
(1) GM: Jason: If he's changing people as part of his research, chances are changing people is what he's researching. The ultimate transformation?
(1) GM: Jason: I really don't want to have to stop that ritual AGAIN....
(1) GM: (Oh, an Immortal's life force doesn't just leave when they are beheaded... if another immortal is in range, it gets sucked away....)
(2) Kibin: How does a ghost do that?
(4) Derrel: Neither do I.
(4) Derrel: (And if the head is restored, it could get sucked back)
(3) Elorin: That... could be a problem if that's really what he's after.
(3) Elorin: Wouldn't the only way to get him to pass on then be to let him complete the ritual?
(1) GM: Jason: At which point, we wouldn't have to worry... hmm....
(4) Derrel: He might get a new body out of it.
(3) Elorin: Yes, but if the ritual works when he does it and brings him back to a semblance of life...
(2) Kibin: Yes... But then wouldn't he pass on anyway, or something.
(1) GM: Jason: I'm a ghost, and it's still confusing. Hopefully, it's something else he's looking for....
(2) Kibin: We could try asking him.
(1) GM: Jason: So all y'all are going shopping? Save me a share of the loot, would you? I've just been reminded of something I need to take care of...
(1) GM: Jason looks off in the distance....
(4) Derrel: (I think we know what Jason is obsessed with...)
(3) Elorin: (hmm, Mind Blank needs to be recast every 24 hours, so divinations about this ghost should work while he's reviving, right?)
(3) Elorin: Oh yeah, we have three books from that vault protected by Symbols of Death
(1) GM: (After a fasion.)
(3) Elorin: We've been a bit hesitant to try finding out what they are, but those Symbols wouldn't affect you...
(2) Kibin: Yeah, lets get Jason to look and see what's in them...
(1) GM: Jason: Right.....
(1) GM: Jason shakes his head momentarily.
(1) GM: Jason: Although I really do need to make that flower extinct.....
(4) Derrel: You've got a long time to do that.
(4) Derrel: Have you considered researching a spell?
(1) GM: Jason: I'm nervous enough just with all of you knowing The Word.... but can't kill people just because the know something.... flowers, though....
(1) GM: Jason: They're not people.....
(3) Elorin: (hmm, Kaylin's first epic spell: Extinction! :P)
(1) GM: Jason: Right... time... lots of time.... all the time in the world.... later.... stuff to do.... people being hurt NOW, not just at some potential time in the future....
(1) GM: Jason: Have to remember.....
(4) Derrel: (Jason might not be fully balanced...)
(1) GM: Jason: You said you have books?
(3) Elorin: Yes, 3 of them
(1) GM: Jason: Well, let's take a look.
(3) Elorin: Over in this chest
(3) Elorin: Just let us get out of range first...
** (2) Kibin scoots over FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR away. **
** (3) Elorin walks a 100 feet away **
(1) GM: Jason: You say that like death is so permanent.....
** (4) Derrel backs off. **
(1) GM: Kaylin also high-tails it, of course....
(3) Elorin: It's a bit more of an inconvenience for us than for you! (shouted over the distance)
(1) GM: Ghost Telekenesis: A ghost can use telekinesis as a standard action (caster level 12th or equal to the ghosts HD, whichever is higher). When a ghost uses this power, it must wait 1d4 rounds before using it again; 10 + 1/2 ghosts HD + ghosts Cha modifier = 25
(1) GM: Jason opens the chest up, pulls out the books, and begins reading.
(1) GM: After a bit of time with all three, he puts them back in the chest, and closes it.
(1) GM: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [15,18] = (33)
(1) GM: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [8,18] = (26)
(1) GM: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [15,18] = (33)
(4) Derrel: (I'm going to have a shower - NPC Derrel, ok?)
(1) GM: Sure.
(1) GM: Jason: They're all locked away. You can come back now. The chest should block any eminations.
(1) GM: Kaylin: How about I wait a while anyway?
(1) GM: Kaylin: Like, say, another half an hour?
(3) Elorin: Better to be certain with something like this.
(1) GM: Jason rolls his eyes and says something quietly.
(1) GM: Anyone care to make a listen check?
** (2) Kibin watches any creatures who goes within the area. **
(3) Elorin: It takes 10 minutes for the Symbol to stop as I recall
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [4,18] = (22)
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [3,10] = (13)
whispering to Kibin, Jason: The living - so careful about their shells....
whispering to Elorin, You don't make anything out.
(3) Elorin: (oh, wait, it's 10 minutes per caster level)
(3) Elorin: (then again, "Covering or hiding the rune renders the symbol of death ineffective, unless a creature removes the covering, in which case the symbol of death works normally.")
(3) Elorin: Hmm, actually, it should be safe now that I think about it.
(1) GM: Spellcraft check? You're trying to know stuff about an 8th level spell.
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [15,18] = (33)
(1) GM: Fair enough. Know away.
** (2) Kibin wanders back over. Carefully. **
** (3) Elorin walks back to the wagon **
(2) Kibin: (Woot. Defeated blacklist number 15.)
(3) Elorin: Now that we finally have some time that should be restful, let's go to town and sell this stuff.
(1) GM: You notice all the grass within 60 feet of the wagon is whithered.
(3) Elorin: ...and, what are the books about, Jason?
(3) Elorin: (had to waste it's 150 hp of death on blades of grass, eh?)
(2) Kibin: (Hehe.)
(1) GM: Jason: One's a spellbook; another's an accurate accounting of my first few years as a ghost.
(3) Elorin: And the third?
(2) Kibin: (And I got his car!)
(1) GM: Jason: The third... well, it's like a spellbook... but it's not. It's written like a spellbook would be, but......
(1) GM: Jason: There not spells any Wizard could cast.
(2) Kibin: Can you clarify?
(3) Elorin: A spellbook for clerics of some sort?
(1) GM: Jason: Well, they seem more like prayers.... but what cleric has to write those down?
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, and would you mind too terribly much if I burned the second? It's got things in there that shouldn't be known.....
(3) Elorin: Strange
(3) Elorin: After seeing that ritual firsthand, go right ahead.
** (2) Kibin asks Jason, "Such as?" **
(3) Elorin: I have no desire to see anyone repeat it.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, an ingridient list for a potion... paladin's blood, a tiger lilly, you know....
(1) GM: Jason: The location it must be held.... also the why, which I didn't have before. Pity I can't change THAT aspect...
** (2) Kibin says, "Go ahead." **
(8) Elorin (enter): 15:21
(1) GM: Computer trouble?
(2) Kibin: What do you mean the why?
(8) Elorin: (last I saw: Jason's ingredients list)
(3) Elorin (exit): 15:22
(4) Observer (exit): 15:22
(1) GM: Jason: Seems there's a nexus of sorts deep underground.... spare enegy that the Word can draw on, rather than draining the speaker.
(1) GM: Jason: The location it must be held.... also the why, which I didn't have before. Pity I can't change THAT aspect...
(1) GM: Jason; Oh, you probably don't want to be nearby when I open the chest.... for that matter....
(1) GM: Jason tosses the chest a hundred feet away, then goes over, opens it, and pulls out the spellbook.
(1) GM: And repeatedly blasts it with emulated fireballs.
** (2) Kibin stays away from the chest then. **
(2) Kibin: Ooo, shiney.
(1) GM: Shadow Evocation, 5th: Mimics evocation below 5th level, but only 20% real.
(1) GM: Shadow Evocation, 5th: Mimics evocation below 5th level, but only 20% real.
(1) GM: Shadow Evocation, 5th: Mimics evocation below 5th level, but only 20% real.

(1) GM: Shadow Evocation, 5th: Mimics evocation below 5th level, but only 20% real.
(1) GM: [10d6/5] -> 5.4
(1) GM: [10d6/5] -> 6.0
(1) GM: [10d6/5] -> 5.8
(1) GM: [10d6/5] -> 5.8
(1) GM: [10d6/5] -> 7.4
(1) GM: The thing burns to a crisp, and he summons somehting up to scatter the ashes..... a small fire elemental...
(1) GM: Shadow Conjouration, Level 4: Mimics conjuration below 4th level, but only 20% real
(1) GM: After a while, the only way to tell there ever was a book there is the 60-foot radius circle of dead grass, and the scorched earth.
(1) GM: Jason then closes the chest, and brings it back over.
(2) Kibin: Toasty.
(1) GM: Jason: Yeah... such things don't burn as well as they do with real Fireballs, but I can't seem to remember how to do those....
(8) Elorin: (hmm, unusual ways to avoid dying to a Symbol of Death: upgrade Shirt of Health, cast Righteous Might, cast Divine Power)
(8) Elorin: (that would bring my hp above 150)
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, and stay away from that circle of dead grass for a while; no telling how long it will be active, but it'll be a fair length of time.
(1) GM: Jason: So, who's up for a trip to the store?
(8) Elorin: Now that that's dealt with, on to town?
(2) Kibin: Uh.
(2) Kibin: Okay.
(2) Kibin: We stay away from dead grass. To the town!
(1) GM: Jason: Well, destroying what the Symbol is on gets rid of it... but also sets it off. It'll discharge eventually....
(1) GM: To town?
(2) Kibin: (Yup.)
(8) Elorin: (yes)
(1) GM: Kaylin leads down a road to the town; on the way, you hear the clop of hooves, and the sound of two people arguing.
(1) GM: Male voice: Come on! Someone at the college is going to know how to fix this!
(1) GM: Female voice: How do you unscramble an egg, husband?
(1) GM: Male voice: Don't call me that! We're not married!
(1) GM: Female voice: Oh, I think we've got it down, even if it wasn't the local priest what did it, prince.
(1) GM: Male voice: Gah! I can't stand you!
(2) Kibin: Much more people than last time.
(8) Elorin (exit): 15:34
(1) GM: You hear a meaty thud....
(1) GM: Male voice: Oww!!!!
(1) GM: Female voice (a little pained, but seemingly used to it....); You know, you really ought to stop that....
(1) GM: Wait.... where's Eloring?
(1) GM: Grr!
(2) Kibin: (Echo, echo, echo.)
(1) GM: Yeah. Grr!
(9) Elorin (enter): 15:37
(1) GM: Last line?
(9) Elorin: (sound of 2 people arguing)
(1) GM: Male voice: Come on! Someone at the college is going to know how to fix this!
(1) GM: Female voice: How do you unscramble an egg, husband?
(1) GM: Male voice: Don't call me that! We're not married!
(1) GM: Female voice: Oh, I think we've got it down, even if it wasn't the local priest what did it, prince.
(1) GM: Male voice: Gah! I can't stand you!
(1) GM: You hear a meaty thud....
(1) GM: Male voice: Oww!!!!
(1) GM: Female voice (a little pained, but seemingly used to it....); You know, you really ought to stop that....
(1) GM: What first appears to be two people riding on a horse trot into view.....
(1) GM: But there's no head for the horse.....
(1) GM: And there's no legs for the two people "riding" side-by side.....
(9) Elorin: (centaurs?)
(1) GM: One horse.
(2) Kibin: (Are the people connected to the horse? O.o)
(1) GM: The one on the left side is a woman, dressed in servant's attire, with a few old brusises on her face, and a developing one on her cheek.
(1) GM: The right side is a young man, dressed in finery, with much jewelry.
(1) GM: The young man is completely unmarked.
** (9) Elorin is getting used to bizarre things like this happening **
(1) GM: Both are connected at the waist to where the horse's neck should be....
(9) Elorin: All right, what sort of magical accident caused this, or was it intentionally inflicted on you?
** (9) Elorin sounds almost bored, as if this were nothing unusual **
(1) GM: Prince: It's a curse most foul! Some stable-hand halfling was readying my horse, and a donkey for my servant, so we could go out and have lunch in private, and next I know, SHE's right there!
(1) GM: He tries to point at the girl, but she's a little to close for it to be very effective.....
(1) GM: Girl: It's great! I was probably going to end up bearing royal bastards, but now, I'll be carrying the Heir!
(2) Kibin: I think we need Kaylin to develop a spell for this.
(1) GM: Prince: Not if I have any say in the matter!
(1) GM: Girl: You won't, once the season comes around....
(11) Elorin (enter): 15:45
(1) GM: Anyone care to make a knoweledge (Nature) or Ride check?
(1) GM: Last line?
(2) Kibin: (Kaylin is our knowledge person.)
(11) Elorin: ("I think we need Kaylin to develop a spell for this")
(1) GM: Knowledge: Nature Skill Check: [1d20+13] -> [8,13] = (21)
(1) GM: Girl: It's great! I was probably going to end up bearing royal bastards, but now, I'll be carrying the Heir!
(9) Elorin (exit): 15:46
(1) GM: Prince: Not if I have any say in the matter!
(1) GM: Girl: You won't, once the season comes around....
(1) GM: Kaylin gets an odd smile on her face, and looks away for a bit...
(2) Kibin: What's going on?
(1) GM: Kaylin: No telling what the kids will look like, though.....
(1) GM: Kibin - Kobold or dragon form at the moment?
(12) Elorin (enter): 15:48
(1) GM: Again?!?
(12) Elorin: (in case that might get me anything)
(1) GM: Last line?
(12) Elorin: (I have no idea what's causing this, my connection is usually quite stable)
(12) Elorin: (What's going on?), then spellcraft check, then line I repeated
(11) Elorin (exit): 15:49
(1) GM: Girl: It's great! I was probably going to end up bearing royal bastards, but now, I'll be carrying the Heir!
(1) GM: Prince: Not if I have any say in the matter!

(1) GM: Kaylin gets an odd smile on her face, and looks away for a bit...
(1) GM: Kibin: What's going on?
(1) GM: Kaylin: No telling what the kids will look like, though.....
(1) GM: Kibin - Kobold or dragon form at the moment?
(2) Kibin: (I'm in Kobold form at the moment.)
(12) Elorin: (hmm, did you miss this line?):
(12) Elorin: Hmm, doesn't sound like the current transmutationist we're dealing with. Kaylin, you're the expert in things like this, what do you know about it?
(1) GM: Missed it indeed.
(12) Elorin: (and then):
(12) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [6,18] = (24)
(12) Elorin: (in case that might get me anything)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Can you check for magic?
(12) Elorin: (original roll was 4 higher, but meh)
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Detect Magic ( level 0, "Detects spells and magic items within 60 ft." )
(12) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 0 Spell ( level 0, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(2) Kibin: (Me in kobold form.)
whispering to Elorin, Dim Transmutation.....
(1) GM: Kaylin: After all, he didn't just turn people into pillows... remember the smith?
(12) Elorin: Dim transmutation.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Proper research, while it might have you doing exactly the ame thing quite a few times, does move on.....
(12) Elorin: Only a lingering aura, non-dispellable.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Just like the others... but..... that's a first...
(2) Kibin: Kaylin, you need to research a spell to reverse the effects of this...
(12) Elorin: It sounds rather a lot faster than the process he used before.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Oh, I don't know... she could use the change in station, and he might just learn some manners.....
(1) GM: Prince: What are you implying!
(1) GM: Prince: I'll have you know I'm the Heir to the Throne!
(12) Elorin: Am I supposed to be impressed?
(1) GM: Kaylin's mouth twitches up a little....
(1) GM: Kaylin: I don't know... can a mare sit on the throne?
(12) Elorin: That doesn't mean you should treat everyone else like dirt.
(2) Kibin: Well, it looks like you two lovebirds are inseperatable at the moment... so there's not much you can do.
(2) Kibin: Or us. Hmmm.
(2) Kibin: (My foray into puns. :P)
(1) GM: Prince: But this can be fixed!
(1) GM: Girl: How? Besides - we are married - how did it go? "And so a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be united with his wife, and the two shall become one flesh?"
** (2) Kibin sits on the side of the wagon, watching the passage of words. **
(12) Elorin: Well, yes, and I doubt you really deserve to be stuck like that forever, but you could do with some humility.
(1) GM: The prince gets very much flustered, balls up his fist, and hits the girl again...
(1) GM: She flinches, but he screams.
(1) GM: Girl: Worth it.
(1) GM: Girl: Care to try for a knife? I still have the scar from the last time, you know....
(2) Kibin: What, do you people feel each other's pain?
(1) GM: Girl: But this time round, you hurt too....
(1) GM: Prince: No! This is new! It needs to be fixed! Now!
(2) Kibin: What exactly can we do?
(1) GM: Prince: A gag would be great! Stop her incescent babble about nonsense.
(1) GM: Girl: I half agree.....
(1) GM: Girl: By any chance, do you happen to have something for that? Maybe work with his arms?
** (2) Kibin asks, "For what?" **
(13) Elorin (enter): 16:03
(2) Kibin: (Meh. :P)
(1) GM: Prince: Gagging her, of course...
(1) GM: Girl: Gagging him, of course....
(1) GM: Last line?
(2) Kibin: Kaylin, can you do a quick spell?
(13) Elorin: (Girl: I half agree), plus the one after
(12) Elorin (exit): 16:04
(1) GM: Kibin: For what?
(1) GM: Prince: Gagging her, of course...
(1) GM: Girl: Gagging him, of course....
(13) Elorin: (Kibin stole my line :P)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Oh, I might have something useful for this situation....
(1) GM: Keep one from talking for a while, anyway...
(1) GM: Kaylin: Although it does make it difficult for the target to learn anything useful....
(13) Elorin: (is she talking about Feeblemind?)
(1) GM: (Yep)
(2) Kibin: How about that spell you used a lot at that other city?
(1) GM: What, make a statue of them?
(1) GM: Kaylin: Don't really have a way to mold them here....
(13) Elorin: Maybe if we separated them before the next step, that might fix them.
(2) Kibin: Yeah...
(2) Kibin: But it would solve a lot of problems.
(1) GM: Kaylin: I don't know.... he still hasn't learned not to hit girls......
(2) Kibin: Hehe...
(2) Kibin: We could bring them to the next city with us.
(13) Elorin: His manners do seem to be a bit subpar.
(1) GM: Prince: Bah! I'm going up to the college. They can fix it there.
(2) Kibin: Everyone is dead there.
(13) Elorin: Good luck getting answers from the dead
(2) Kibin: There's noone there. Zombies killed everyone.
(1) GM: Girl and prince: What!
(13) Elorin: We just came from there, an undead monster turned them all into zombies
(1) GM: Girl: All the poor students.....
(1) GM: Prince: But... but... but......
(13) Elorin: We managed to put an end to it, but restoring them all to life is a bit beyond our abilities.
(2) Kibin: Plus there's no magic that can fix your current condition without a few imperfections.
(1) GM: Prince: How are they supposed to do my bidding when they're DEAD?
(2) Kibin: And I don't think we've met someone that's been... fused like you.
(1) GM: Prince: They're my subjects! They're supposed to stay alive until I tell them otherwise!
(1) GM:
(2) Kibin: I'm tempted to just leave them here. What about you?
(13) Elorin: Now that's the sort of attitude that will just convince us to let you stay that way a while longer
(1) GM: Girl: I think they would have rather not been killed....
(1) GM: Gril: That works. I'm gonna be the Queen!
(1) GM: Prince: No you're not!
(1) GM: Girl: That's okay - you will be too....
(2) Kibin: Oookay...
(1) GM: Prince: Shut up!
(2) Kibin: (GM, to further the plot, can you let NPC kaylin do some free research?)
(1) GM: He starts to ball his fist and raise it... but then changes his mind.
(15) Elorin (enter): 16:15
(1) GM: Um, I don't think she'd be touching this one....
(13) Elorin (exit): 16:16
(15) Elorin: (Kibin: Oookay)
(1) GM: Prince: Shut up!
(1) GM: He starts to ball his fist and raise it... but then changes his mind.
(1) GM: (Kibin asked about free research on Kaylin's part to futher the plot...)
(1) GM: Um, I don't think she'd be touching this one....
(2) Kibin: (For further encounters.)
(15) Elorin: Well, bye. When you learn some manners and respect for those not nobly born, maybe you can seek us out again for treatment.
(1) GM: Prince: Gah!
** (15) Elorin waves **
(1) GM: Prince: Well, to the college!
(1) GM: Girl: Didn't you hear, they're dead.....
** (2) Kibin speaks to the party, "I wonder if he would treat me better if he knew I was a silver dragon. Hmmmm." **
(1) GM: Prince: Bah! Commoners! They always lie.....
(1) GM: the odd set continues up the path.
(2) Kibin: You know, on second thought, they probally would treat us better.
(15) Elorin: I don't much care how he treats us as long as he doesn't try having his soldiers hunt us down to kill us.
(2) Kibin: Do you think he's in any position to send soldiers after us?
(15) Elorin: Maybe
(15) Elorin: He did say he was the heir to a throne, and the girl agreed, but who knows how his father reacted to this strange merging?
(2) Kibin: Hmmm.
(2) Kibin: On to the city?
(15) Elorin: On to the city.
(1) GM: The city is walled, and has gates. They're closed at the moment, rather securely.
(2) Kibin: That's odd.
(1) GM: Several guards stand in watchtowers, about twenty feet from the ground. One hails you.
(15) Elorin: (closed for nightfall, or some other reason?)
(1) GM: Watchman: Turn back! This city is under quarantine until we can solve the sickness.
(2) Kibin: What sickness?
(15) Elorin: What sort of sickness?
(1) GM: Watchman: Strange things. People joined to whatever living thing is nearby. It's happened to several people, and so the king ordered the city sealed until it can be stopped.
(15) Elorin: (hmm, a party full of paladins and monks walks up, and replies that the whole lot of them are completely immune to diseases of all kinds :P)
(1) GM: Watchman: Turn back.
(2) Kibin: Huh. I thought we killed that ghost.
(2) Kibin: Or at least stopped it for a while.
(15) Elorin: A few days only.
(2) Kibin: (It's been a few days?)
(1) GM: Watchman: Ghosts? Bah. What nonsense is this?
(15) Elorin: (waiting for Jason)
(1) GM: Jason walks up to him, and says "boo"
(1) GM: He faints.
** (2) Kibin snickers. **
(1) GM: (the watchman, that is....)
(2) Kibin: Maybe Kaylin should do research for a spell now?
(15) Elorin: Oh, there's a gnome ghost on the loose obsessed with research into some kind of human transmutation.
(15) Elorin: Well, maybe not specifically human.
(1) GM: One of the other watchman: He don't look like a gnome.
(15) Elorin: Not that one. Another ghost.
(15) Elorin: This one's our friend.
(1) GM: Watchman: Necromancers! Forbidden! Sound the alarm!
(15) Elorin: He's obsessed with making sure no one ever performs a particular powerful evil ritual ever again.
** (2) Kibin makes a mental note on how most security precautions are obsolete if you can fly. **
** (15) Elorin laughs **
(2) Kibin: Wait! We're not necromancers!
(15) Elorin: We're not necromancers
(1) GM: You hear a loud siren.....
** (2) Kibin lets Elorin talk... **
(15) Elorin: He arose as a ghost perfectly naturally.
(1) GM: And about fifteen seconds later, there's a LOT of archers at the walls...
(2) Kibin: Um.
(2) Kibin: That was quick.
(1) GM: Jason: They're right, you know. Besides, what do you propose to do? Kill me? Someone beat you to it.
(15) Elorin: Sheesh, you'd think someone here would know that ghosts don't involve necromancy at all.
(1) GM: All the watchman, including the bowment, almost in unison: It takes vigilence to enforce the Law!
** (2) Kibin continues to comtemplate silently on whenever or not to drop the alternate form ability. Hmmm. **
(15) Elorin: He died a few thousand years ago with an extremely important to him task unfinished, so he rose as a ghost.
(15) Elorin: That's all there is to it.
(2) Kibin: And we're helping him.
(2) Kibin: And the task is not evil.
(15) Elorin: Yes, the task is most definitely good.
(1) GM: Watchman: Well, fine. But the city is still quarentined.
(1) GM: Watchman: Turn back.
(2) Kibin: Have any of you witness someone fuse with a living thing near them?
(2) Kibin: (Witnessed*
(1) GM: Watchman: There have been no reports of such. The King acts quickly and decisively. There have only been a few cases so far.
(2) Kibin: Okay, then it's not a sickness.
(15) Elorin: How long ago did they start?
(1) GM: Watchman: The first case was reported nearly two weeks ago. There have been twenty reported cases so far.
** (2) Kibin continues to comtemplate on how easy it would be to sneak in there as a bird. Hmmm. **
(2) Kibin: Hmmmm.
(15) Elorin: (it's been about that long since the pillow village, right?)
(1) GM: (roughly.....)
(2) Kibin: Well, it's not a sickness. This ghost is using magic to transform people in odd ways. The city we came from had everyone turned into pillows...
(15) Elorin: Yeah, the timing's about right.
(1) GM: The watchman looks a bit uncertain.....
(15) Elorin: It's probably a particular gnome ghost experimenting on random bystanders.
(1) GM: He whispers something to someone standing next to him, who speeds off......
(1) GM: Listen checks?
(15) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [14,10] = (24)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [15,18] = (33)
whispering to Kibin, "Go fetch the General. This might be worth his time. I don't have the authority to make exceptions, he can get it from the King."
** (2) Kibin makes more mental notes. Hmmmm. **
whispering to Elorin, You don't make anything out.
(15) Elorin: We chased him out of a small city where he'd turned everyone into pillows about two weeks ago.
(15) Elorin: He probably came here to continue his unethical research
(15) Elorin: But he's being a bit more circumspect about it now.
** (2) Kibin chuckles when he remembers the prince. **
(1) GM: Watchman: Magic is over my head. None may pass without the King's word.
(1) GM: Sticking around to wait, or turning back?
(2) Kibin: (Why not wait? We got legions of archers to help us.)
(15) Elorin: (hmm, if the story of our conversation with the prince comes up...)
(15) Elorin: (I'm waiting)
(1) GM: A few minutes later, a man in very fine heavy armor, with a very well wrought greatsword on his back, clanks up the stairs. The watchman who had been conversing with you salutes, and steps back.
(15) Elorin: (brb)
(1) GM: You can't see the man's face; his visor is down.
(1) GM: Armored Man: Well?
(2) Kibin: We're following a ghost who's possessing people and using magic to mold people into various shapes...
(16) Kaylin (enter): 16:43
(16) Kaylin: (braains... screws, wrenches, nuts, bolts, and aluminium splinters...)
(16) Kaylin: (NullAshton tells me there's some spell research in the plans that needs approval?)
(2) Kibin: (You know. To reverse that stoning process thingie.)
(1) GM: Perhaps... but that would take quite a lot of research.
(1) GM: And there aren't really any spells that approach it, so I'd have to think about it for a while.
(15) Elorin: (I'll let the rest of you recap for Kaylin. I have dinner to heat up)
(2) Kibin: (Comeon. :P)
(1) GM: Jason showed up, destroyed one of the books from the chest (with permission from Elorin and Kibin - after he explained that it included information on the ritual from the previous quest set)
(2) Kibin: (Something that returns people that it's used on to their original form without any mutilations or missing parts?)
(1) GM: Headed down to town (walking distance from the college) and encountered a very odd couple - a serving girl, fused to the prince, and his mare. Like centaures, but two people, rather than one.
(15) Elorin: (the big problem is making it instantaneous duration)
(2) Kibin: (Yeah...)
(2) Kibin: (But it could only turn people into one form.)
(15) Elorin: (pretty much all polymorphing is permanent (and dispellable) at best)
(2) Kibin: (It's not permanent. More like a more specific healing effect.)
(1) GM: The Prince was quite the abusive brat, and very much wanted it fixed (and thus was heading to the college....); the girl, however, was happy that a) the prince was now feeling the beatings he was giving her. b) that she was the queen to be, as soon as the Prince ascended. c) that the Prince was very much upset.
(16) Kaylin: (hehe... wish I'd seen that..)
(1) GM: (It'll be in the log)
(15) Elorin: (when the prince told us he was the heir to the throne, I asked if I was supposed to be impressed :P)
(2) Kibin: (Maybe a level 7 or 8 spell?
(2) Kibin: (Or a casting period of 10 minutes?)
(16) Kaylin: (nice one Elorin)
(1) GM: Anyway, the party didn't help, and the prince insistend on continuing to the college, even though he was told they were all dead.
(1) GM: (the girl was sad for them, the prince was a combination of disbeliving and indignant)
(1) GM: Then we arrived at the city, and the gates were closed - quarentine.
(15) Elorin: (how DARE they die when he needed them? :P)
(2) Kibin: (Or maybe it can't affect magical transformations, and thus has a very specific usage of countering that no-magic effect thingie?)
(16) Kaylin: (aww :( )
(16) Kaylin: (lol Elorin)
(15) Elorin: (oh, and we've managed to actually kill the ghost once)
(1) GM: Yes; your spell finished him off, actually... momentarily, anyway.
(2) Kibin: (There's many ways to make the spell without making it TOO powerful.)
(1) GM: (Yeah; but as the only core spells capable of dealing with it properly are Miracle and Wish (argueable ressurection), it pretty much needs to be very high-level.)
(2) Kibin: (Why?)
(1) GM: Simple: It has to be a challenge.
(2) Kibin: (Wish's power is that it's very general. This one would be specific and related to the plot.)
(2) Kibin: (Meh.)
(1) GM: Which would probably be worth a level or two. But then, what's the 5000 xp worth?
(2) Kibin: (Generalness. :P)
(2) Kibin: (Would you want your players to be able to use a daily spell slot to do almost any magical effect?)
(1) GM: Anyway... some arguing with the Guards at the gate, and the sent a runner off. A man in full plate with a greatsword has arived and inquired (sort of)
(1) GM: Does that about bring us up to speed?
(15) Elorin: (was his "Well?" directed at us, or the guards?)
(16) Kaylin: (sounds like you had a busy session today)
(1) GM: It's been pretty fun so far.
(1) GM: Better when the players can choose their own actions, though.
(1) GM: The plate-clad man stares at you through his visor.
(2) Kibin: A ghost is going around and changing people in such a way that normal magic can't fix it.
(2) Kibin: What's going on isn't a sickness but the actions of this ghost.
(1) GM: Plate-clad Man: I see.....
(1) GM: Listen checks?
(15) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [15,10] = (25)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [3,18] = (21)
(2) Kibin: (Ouch.)
(16) Kaylin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+4] -> [19,4] = (23)
(1) GM: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [12,10] = (22)
(15) Elorin: (wow, even Kaylin beat Kibin)
(2) Kibin: (It's just a stupid low roll! :P)
whispering to Elorin, you hear... something... that you can't make out.
(1) GM: The plate-clad man makes an announcement:
(2) Kibin: (If we switched to a 3d6 die system, we wouldn't have to worry about low rolls. :)
(1) GM: Tell you what: If you agree not to leave until after the king lifts quarentine, you may enter, under the rules and regulations that govern doctors entering a plague-ridden city. Agreeable?
(15) Elorin: I'm afraid I'm not familiar with these regulations. What are they?
(1) GM: Listen checks/
(1) GM: ?
(15) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [1,10] = (11)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [20,18] = (38)
(1) GM: Shift doesn't want to register.....
(1) GM: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [9,10] = (19)
(2) Kibin: (What the crud is with all the listen checks? :P)
(2) Kibin: (Anyway, I think I can hear everything.)
(16) Kaylin: Knowledge: Religion Skill Check: [1d20+13] -> [1,13] = (14)
(16) Kaylin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+4] -> [11,4] = (15)
(16) Kaylin: (ack, wrong one)
whispering to Kibin, you hear a faint voice pre-echoing what the plate-clad man says.....
(1) GM: Plate-Clad man: First, Do No Harm. Second: Heal. Third: Do not permit a possible plauge to spread. Fourth: Do not make unreasonable violations of local ordinances and laws.
(2) Kibin: Okay, sounds good.
(16) Kaylin: These rules sound similar to what we were intending to do.
** (2) Kibin yawns, stretching, tired of all this talking. **
(15) Elorin: Sounds reasonable, as long as the local laws don't forbid our weapons. This ghost has something of a grudge with us, and it would be... inconvenient to fight him without them.
(1) GM: Listen checks?
(15) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [2,10] = (12)
(16) Kaylin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+4] -> [20,4] = (24)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [13,18] = (31)
(16) Kaylin: (how come we're making all these listen checks?)
whispering to Kaylin, you hear a faint whisper that you can't make out.
(2) Kibin: (So I can get dirt on the local rulers. Shhh, trying to listen.)
whispering to Kibin, that pre-echo again: "Doctor's are permitted their tools."
(1) GM: Plate-Clad Man: Doctor's are permitted their tools.
(15) Elorin: Hehe. First time I've heard a bow and arrow called a "doctor's tool", but it works.
(1) GM: Listen checks?
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [14,18] = (32)
(15) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [6,10] = (16)
(16) Kaylin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+4] -> [2,4] = (6)
whispering to Kibin, a quiet "Raise the gate"
(1) GM: The doors swing open, and a portcullis is labourously raised.
(2) Kibin: We can go in now.
(1) GM: Jason just ignores the gate and walks through the wall....
** (15) Elorin walks through the gate **
(1) GM: The archers relax and go back to whatever they were doing before they were called up, and two uniformed guards greet you at the gate.
(1) GM: They nod as you enter.
** (2) Kibin waves to the guards. **
(2) Kibin: Oh cool! Jason can be our watchghost again.
(2) Kibin: I can finnally get some decent sleep.
** (16) Kaylin tries to put on a smile. Good first impressions and all. **
(2) Kibin: Now then...
(2) Kibin: See if we can sell our loot anyway?
(15) Elorin: Excuse me, could you point us to a good magic shop? We have a fair collection of miscellaneous items gathered adventuring that we would like to get rid of for a good price.
(1) GM: Inside, the city is ... subdued... but still active. People without something to do stay in their homes, but the buying and selling of food and goods goes on as always.
(2) Kibin: (Hey, I wonder if anyone needs to use crafting portal.)
(1) GM: The random passerby you stopped points down a nearby intersection.
(16) Kaylin: (Hmm. I do....)
(15) Elorin: (that was intended for one of the guards that greeted us at the gate, but oh well)
(1) GM: Once everyone is through, the portcullis is droped with a clang of finality, and the doors close.
** (2) Kibin must find out the secret of the gem... And this would be a great time to do so! As long as Kaylin keeps a few remove curses handy.() **
(2) Kibin: I guess you people are stuck here until the ghost is gone.
(2) Kibin: Well, except Jason.
(1) GM: Heading to Ye Olde Majgicke Shoppe?
(2) Kibin: (Duh.)
(15) Elorin: (why else would I have asked direction to it?)
(16) Kaylin: (compiling a Tourist guide)
(1) GM: You get there, and you hear a tinkle as a bell over the door gets hit.
(1) GM: An old man in some very fuzzy robes greets you.
** (2) Kibin waves. **
(1) GM: Old Man: Buying or selling?
(15) Elorin: Both, perhaps, but selling first.
(1) GM: Got the goods?
** (2) Kibin looks at any magic items that catch his eye. **
** (15) Elorin starts assembling a pile on the counter **
(1) GM: (got the totals worked out?)
(15) Elorin: loot: kama +3 (35,802 gp)

(2) Kibin: (Anyway...)
** (2) Kibin asks, "How much do we get each?" **
(1) GM: (It doesn't care so much; and I asked for the _totals_)
(15) Elorin: [35802+32315+18320+300+6750+18000+300+40+9000+150+3000+25000+16000+4000+2412+1800+2200] -> 175389
(15) Elorin: [175389*.5] -> 87694.5
(15) Elorin: (plus mirror and spell component pouches)
(1) GM: Nice chunk of change...
(15) Elorin: (and then there's all the gems/art)
(15) Elorin: (which I don't have values for)
(2) Kibin: (That's for later.)
(2) Kibin: (REPLY TO THE DRAGON! :P)
(1) GM: (which is 5 gp market per spell component pouch; 1000 market for the mirror)
(1) GM: As for the art... pience count?
(1) GM: Also, which encounters?
(16) Kaylin: (rrr, I need the mirror)
(15) Elorin: [87694.5+5+500] -> 88199.5
(16) Kaylin: (need scrying focus)
(15) Elorin: (not with Greater Scrying, you don't)
(16) Kaylin: (oh, right. Deja vu :P)
(15) Elorin: (Maralith 2, Frost Giant, Sheogorath Chest, Sorceror's Body)
(16) Kaylin: (this is the last time I ever go to one of these early-morning robotics events)
** (2) Kibin waits for the shopkeeper to finish tallying up aeverything. **
(15) Elorin: (oh yeah, and the cash is [869+25006+4952+8999] -> 39826)
(15) Elorin: [88199.5+39826] -> 128025.5 without art
** (2) Kibin continues to wait. Ladadeda. **
(1) GM: His body didn't have any artwork..... just the mirror, spell component pouches, and magic stuff which has been identfied
(15) Elorin: (I count 120 gems and pieces of art)
(2) Kibin: (You total it up. :P)
(15) Elorin: (this is gonna take a while to add)
(16) Kaylin: (I'd add it up but in my current state of mine I can't add one finger and one finger)
(1) GM: Market value 68,436.2
** (2) Kibin waits for the shopkeeper to finish... **
(1) GM: So... [39826+88199.5+68436.2/2] -> 162243.6 cash from encounters
(1) GM: [162243.6/5] -> 32448.72
(1) GM: Per person.
(1) GM: (Spreadsheets have a slightly clunky parsing routine.....)
(2) Kibin: (And the shopkeeper gives us the money?)
(15) Elorin: [971.7+1609.9+62.5+63.7+983.8+1654.3+4237.3+675.5+1262.5+7460.9+7784.7+69.3+2712.5+216.7+928.5+494.7+796.3+90.8+11.1+78.1+7+1188.5+31.4+69+40.7+62.1+7.4+100+42.6+541.7+43.8+605.1+94.7+85.1+583+1659.7+165.4+609.8+367.8+98+1158+84.8+1369.1+1008.5+2155.8+2014.1+1172.7+1167+1314.6+685.1+109+202.6+1389.3+418.5+3969.3+77.6+82+1167.9+787.8+100.1+1790.9+674.2+79.4+4920.5+82.9+94.4+96.1+63.2+211.7+19.3+640.7+764.5] -> 68439.2
(1) GM: After taking the goods, yes; he doesn't even charge for the appraisale; this one's a little looser about his methods.
(15) Elorin: [128025.5+68439.2/2] -> 162245.1
(15) Elorin: (unfortunately, we can't just split it evenly, because some of us are keeping items from these loot sources)
(1) GM: Jouse noel.
(15) Elorin: (chief among them, the Manual of Gainful Exercise +5)
** (2) Kibin places the gold in his treasure pile, in his convientent portable hole in his neck pouch with silver chain. **
(2) Kibin: (Gainful exxercise is split.)
(15) Elorin: (no, Derrel already read it)
(2) Kibin: (I mean party loot. :P)
(15) Elorin: (it can only be used once)
(2) Kibin: (WHICH I noticed you didn't include.)
(2) Kibin: (So everythings happy. In that loot stash, noone wants to keep anything.)
(15) Elorin: (I only listed the things no one wanted)
(2) Kibin: (Exactly.)
(2) Kibin: (Let's just split the rest.)
(2) Kibin: (Because we're nice.)
(2) Kibin: (And too lazy to do menial math. :P)
(1) GM: 162243.6 counted coins from encounters; just splitting it all would be the least headachey thing to do....
(15) Elorin: (the manual +5, a cloak of Cha +6, gloves of dex +4, ring of sustenance, amulet of health +4, and light mithral shield +4 also came from this pile of loot, and are being kept)
(2) Kibin: (Who cares! :P)
(2) Kibin: (It's national freebie day or something.)
(15) Elorin: (the guy who isn't getting any of those?)
(2) Kibin: (Meh. :P)
(2) Kibin: (We'll give you something nice next time around.)
(15) Elorin: (since Derrel's about to leave anyway, how about we say the manual and cloak are his entire share just to keep it simple)
(2) Kibin: (x.x)
(15) Elorin: (Kibin and Kaylin kept the other 4 items, with a total value of [18500+33009] -> 51509)
(1) GM: Let's see... Mithral sheild's roughly 17 grand; cloak's 36 k, gloves 16k, sustenence 2 k, health 16 k, manual is pricy; 137.5 k.
(15) Elorin: (that's [162243.6+51509] -> 213752.6 to divide among 4)
(1) GM: Mithral and sustenence went to... Kaylin?
(2) Kibin: (WHo does the ring of sustenence go to?)
(16) Kaylin: (mitral and Amulet of Health went to me)
(1) GM: so about 33 k to Kaylin already;
(15) Elorin: (I put the ring down as Kibin's. If he gets something he prefers later, he can always switch it out with the party pool)
(2) Kibin: (I never wanted the ring. I told you to sell it.)
(15) Elorin: (fine, counting it at half value, [213752.6-1250] -> 212502.6)
(15) Elorin: [212502.6/4] -> 53125.65 per person
(2) Kibin: (How much difference is that from last time? :P)
(15) Elorin: [53125.65-16000] -> 37125.65 for Kibin
(15) Elorin: [53125.65-33009] -> 20116.65 for Kaylin
(2) Kibin: (need the difference...)
(2) Kibin: (I already added the gold to my sheet...)
(16) Kaylin: (read up? :D)
(1) GM: 1250 - he included it as a - inside the brackets.
(15) Elorin: (32448.72 looks like the figure you probably added)
(1) GM: I think... hmm...
(2) Kibin: (Yeah, think so.)
(2) Kibin: [37125.65-32448.72] -> 4676.93
(15) Elorin: [53125.65+3601.04] -> 56726.69 new total cash for me
** (2) Kibin adds the gold to his treasure pile, which now has at least 50,000 gold pieces in it with assorted platnium pieces. **
(16) Kaylin: I'd like to get my amulet of health upgraded, please.
(1) GM: So what's the final spit for Jason?
(15) Elorin: (he didn't take anything, so 53125.65)
** (2) Kibin runs his hand through his treasure pile for a few seconds. Treasure... Then folds up the hole and places it back in the neck pouch. **
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: that poses a slight difficulty; we could trade it up from one in stock, but the Guild respects quarentine; we can't get a Druid in here to upgrade. Anything particular custom on it?
(15) Elorin: No, it's just a standard amulet of health. One of the items from this pile we decided to keep.
(1) GM: Old man in robes: Well, that doesn't pose much difficulty, then; may I see it?
(15) Elorin: (uh, druid is needed for amulet of natural armor, not health)
** (2) Kibin looks around at the magic items to see anything of interest. **
(15) Elorin: (any wizard or cleric can do amulets of health)
(1) GM: (Shush! He hires an out-of-town Druid for that, as it isn't in his book....)
(15) Elorin: (an ignorant shopkeeper? what a novelty!)
(15) Elorin: (:P)
** (2) Kibin wonders if he should get a shiney magic item or not. **
(1) GM: There are lots of shineies about. Including what looks like an odd set of pointy triagnle-like things; looks a lot like claws.
(16) Kaylin: How much would you charge for a simple trade n?
(16) Kaylin: (ooh, DM points something in particular out. I smell a plot.)
(15) Elorin: (brass knuckles for dragons?)
** (2) Kibin looks at the pointy tiriangle-like things. "What are these?" **
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Oh, with the situation, I'd simply run it at what the improvement would cost.
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Oh, just a little something I bought off a grown dragon one day; claw sheaths; she had outgrown them. They're basically enchanted daggers.
(16) Kaylin: Oh, would you happen to have one with the likeness of a tiger inscribed upon it?
(2) Kibin: Huh.
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: That almost nobody can use.
(16) Kaylin: I'm more partial to their type of large felines.
(2) Kibin: What size are them?
(1) GM: Shopkeeper, well, no engravings, but we do have one based on a tiger-eye gem.
(16) Kaylin: Any price difference?
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: No price difference; they're sized for a small dragon.
(2) Kibin: Ah... that's good. How much?
(16) Kaylin: (hmm. I'm getting mixed up between Kibin and my shopping adventurs...)
** (2) Kibin looks at the claw sheaths. Hmmmm... **
(15) Elorin: (hmm, I'm hitting non-epic caps already in quite a lot of my magic items)
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Oh, those ones are only lightly enchanted; I can sell you one claw's worth for 2,350 gold crowns, or the full set for 4,700.
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: I also do commissions, of course.
(15) Elorin: (brb)
(2) Kibin: Commissions?
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Further enchanting. But hey, what's a Kobold need with dragon claws anyway?
(2) Kibin: Actually I'm just in this form because dragons aren't very dexterious.
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Really? Huh. don't get many dragons in my shop.
(2) Kibin: How long would a commission take?
(1) GM: Shoppkeeper: Well, due to the quarentine, we don't have the crafting portal open - the vast majority of them go to different places on the same plane - so several days, up to a month or two, depending on what you wanted done.
(2) Kibin: Ah.
(2) Kibin: (So much for finding out what the gem does today. :(
(16) Kaylin: Your crafting portal isn't open?
(2) Kibin: I guess I'll come back when the quarantine is over.
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: It works, we just sealed it.
(16) Kaylin: You can't make an exception for 10 minutes in this realm?
(2) Kibin: Meh. All this over a silly ghost...
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Talk to the king. I'm not breaking quarentine.
(16) Kaylin: Very well.
(16) Kaylin: I shall be sure to mention it to him.
(15) Elorin: (well, there go any plans I had for upgrading my cloak of Cha + Res :( )
(2) Kibin: (I thought each of the people in the crafting plane had their own little closed off sections?)
(1) GM: (until AFTER you've convinced the king it isn't a plague, anyway.....)
(16) Kaylin: (oh, we are going to see the king? Whew, thought that'd be a bluff check :P)
(2) Kibin: (Easy bluff check. :)
(2) Kibin: (Or maybe not. Shopkeepers are known for being epiclevel encounters.
(1) GM: Eventually, yes, you probably will see the King.
(2) Kibin: (Comeon, I need to go to the crafting portal. And find out what this gem does. :P)
(16) Kaylin: (well, we could fight the shopkeeper and force him to open the portal. I wouldn't recommend it...)
** (2) Kibin hmmms. "I don't suppose you could find out what this gem I found does, either..." **
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: I could always try. Got it handy?
(2) Kibin: Just a second...
** (2) Kibin runs out to the wagon, then runs back with the small green gem. **
(2) Kibin: The gem...
(1) GM: The shopkeeper unfocuses his eyes for a moment....
(1) GM: [1d20+20] -> [9,20] = (29)
(15) Elorin: (it's what, DC 30 to see through the masking? and the same for the fort save, probably)
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: It's just a worthless glass marble.
(2) Kibin: Not to me...
(15) Elorin: You just didn't try hard enough.
(1) GM: The shopkeeper sighs briefly and looks again....
(1) GM: [1d20+20] -> [15,20] = (35)
(15) Elorin: Of course, the other typical response is falling unconscious...
(1) GM: [1d20+15] -> [3,15] = (18)
(16) Kaylin: (oh, sure, he rolls high and we roll low.)
(16) Kaylin: (nevermind :P)
(1) GM: [4d10] -> [2,7,3,4] = (16)
(15) Elorin: (one Heal, coming right up)
(15) Elorin: Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
(15) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) GM: The shopkeeper, stumbles back, and looks around a bit bewilderedly....
(1) GM: But doesn't drop....
(1) GM: [1d20+23+4] -> [14,23,4] = (41)
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Ookay... someone doesn't want her found....
(2) Kibin: Want who found?
(1) GM: And makes his concentration check!
(15) Elorin: huh?
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: The dragon, of course.
(2) Kibin: You mean the glow skittering around in there?
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: I'm afraid before I'm going to get any more specific, I'm going to have to ask for hazard pay....
(15) Elorin: Kibin, you're the one that asked him to identify it, even though you knew what could happen...
(2) Kibin: Can't you just heal it away?
(15) Elorin: (I already did, but that doesn't change that it's an unpleasant and usually dangerous experience)
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Oh, that's not what the hazard pay's for... it's just in case someone finds out I'm the one that told you....
(2) Kibin: Oh.
(2) Kibin: How much exactly?
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Oh, fifteen grand should cover the assorted percautions I'll need to start taking.
** (2) Kibin considers the choice between never knowing what's in that gem or paying the money. **
(2) Kibin: Are you setting me up for a huge disappointment?
** (2) Kibin goes ahead and gets the money out anyway... **
** (2) Kibin gets exactly 15,000 grand to pay the shopkeeper... **
(15) Elorin: (15 million gp? :P)
(2) Kibin: (NSorry. 15 grand.)
(15) Elorin: (that's some truly epic heist you must be planning to get all that :P)
(1) GM: The shopkeeper scribbles something down on a piece of parchment, out of view, and casts three different spells on it in rapid succession.
(1) GM: The shopkeeper hands Kibin the parchment
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: For your eye's only.
** (2) Kibin looks at the parchment. **
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: For anyone else, it should be gibberish.
(1) GM: (in other words, no sharing the note directly, although you can read it to someone)
** (2) Kibin hmmms. **
(2) Kibin (whispering): Is the mystery of the gem going to last longer? :P
whispering to Kibin, Of course.
(2) Kibin: Okay...
(2) Kibin: Anyone else have anything to do here?
(2) Kibin: Would it hurt anything if I put the note in a portable hole?
(1) GM: Jason: I suppose you aren't quite ready to improve my amulet just yet....
(15) Elorin: Nothing that I'd want to do without the crafting portal working.
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Not at all. Interdimensional interfaces won't mess with the note any.
** (2) Kibin tosses the note in the portable hole and closes it up. And places it in his handy neck pouch that remains there no matter what form... **
(1) GM: Speaking of which... does anyone care to make spellcraft checks as to what he cast?
(15) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [14,18] = (32)
(15) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [7,18] = (25)
(15) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [1,18] = (19)
(15) Elorin: (it was 3 spells, right?)
whispering to Elorin, Secret Page, Sepia Snake Sigil, and you have no idea what the third was... but none of the spells seem quite standard... he did something....
(2) Kibin: Anyway, let's go see the king so we can maybe get this quarantine out of the way... Or find that ghost.
** (2) Kibin must get crafting portal open!()\ **
** (2) Kibin has a plan...() **
(2) Kibin: (Ping?)
(1) GM: I'm mostly waiting for someone to do something....
(1) GM: The shopkeeper pulls out a few items and starts casting spells....
(2) Kibin: (I gave a suggestion. Someone needs to second it.)
(15) Elorin: (you know what, I'm actually getting a little tired of playing D&D for so long today)
(2) Kibin: (Noooooo! MUST FIND OUT THE SECRET OF THE GEM! With crafting portal!)
(15) Elorin: (you've waited how long already? surely it can wait another week...)
(2) Kibin: (A month. :P)
(1) GM: Pinging Kaylin....
(2) Kibin: (We can stop in an hour.)
(1) GM: Violist?
(1) GM: You online?
(2) Kibin: (When I have to go.)
(2) Kibin: (I don't think so.)
(1) GM: It would appear not. Well, two players offline; one online player fatigued. In town.... decent stopping point.
(2) Kibin: (Nooooooooo!)
(15) Elorin: (and the secret of the gem is... the key to becoming the new god of silver dragons! :P)
(15) Elorin: (er, godess, that is :P)
(2) Kibin: ( :P )
(1) GM: (Not commenting on that... and Kibin already has several clues....)
(2) Kibin (whispering): Silver dragon. Shouldn't that mean it's GOOD?
whispering to Kibin, Derrel didn't even need a will save when attempting to Detect Evil....
(15) Elorin: (with this AMAZING gem, you can gain the power to adjust your draconic age at will, all the way up to Great Worm if you so wish! :P)
(2) Kibin (whispering): Auuuuuuuugh. :P
(15) Elorin: (yeah, right, like we'd get something like that before epic levels)
(2) Kibin (whispering): And? So maybe it's NOT evil... which means, who imprisioned her? But what happens if I just keep the gem for a while.. and why am I the only person who it works on?>
(1) GM: A little more flavorful than that.
(2) Kibin (whispering): I want to just spend a month or so in crafting portal to find out. :P
(2) Kibin (whispering): But noooooo. You won't let it BE that easy.
whispering to Kibin, 'course not. You wouldn't get near the satisfaction if it came easy.
(2) Kibin (whispering): Right now I'm wishing we had more D&D roleplaying.
(1) GM: So... continue, or save and quit for the week?
(2) Kibin: (I want to continue...)
(15) Elorin: (save and quit)
(2) Kibin: (:(
(1) GM: 1: Kibin, 2: Elorin: [1d2] -> [1] = (1)
(15) Elorin: (8.5 hours was quite enough for today)
(2) Kibin: (YAY!)
(1) GM: Casting lots work for everyone?
(15) Elorin: (even with 2 players absent?)
(1) GM: Hmm... there is that... meeting the king is plot loaded, to a reasonable degree...
(2) Kibin: (Hey. We're just trying to convince the king that the quarantine is over.)
(15) Elorin: (RP-heavy encounters shouldn't be done with half the party NPC'd)
(2) Kibin: (So we can use the crafting portal.)
(1) GM: Quite True, that... ah well....
Server Administrator-> Closing Server.....
(15) Elorin: (you can get away with that in combat, but it's a bad idea for major RP points)
(2) Kibin: (NOooooooooo! :(
Game disconnected!
