Server Administrator-> You have connected to an OpenRPG server, version '1.6.1'.
Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for
a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.
Session is schedualed for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.
(1) GM:
[100d20] -> [1,5,11,13,10,5,8,12,10,5,19,5,3,10,15,18,16,10,5,20,9,13,17,6,6,16,7,9,11,2,10,10,20,17,13,18,4,12,17,17,12,19,17,5,19,17,14,14,8,12,14,10,15,18,6,6,2,2,15,17,13,9,11,9,10,9,5,20,6,12,13,7,15,3,18,9,3,9,7,18,12,5,12,16,10,16,6,6,15,6,13,7,7,17,17,14,10,15,10,18] = (1115)
** (1) GM found the F7 macro key **
(2) Kibin (enter): 09:44
(2) Kibin: Hey.
(1) Jack Simth: key
(1) Jack Simth: hey
(1) Jack Simth: stupid keyboard!
(2) Kibin: Hehe. :P
(2) Kibin: Should I get the +1 trapsense and +1d6 sneak attack damage roll, or a shiney d12 dice and monk-perfect saves...
(1) Jack Simth: Decisions, Decisions....
(2) Kibin: Yes. :P
(2) Kibin: On one side, I would get +2 to all my saves. (I think).
(2) Kibin: On the other side, I'd get a 8d6 sneak attack, and trap sense +5.
(2) Kibin: But I get more skills with rogue hit die.
(1) Jack Simth: The +2 was only for the fist HD; after that, it's monk saves with a level/hd equivalency. So 2 Dragon HD grant a net +3 to all saves vs. no dragon HD.
(2) Kibin: Oh.
(2) Kibin: Still get a added +1 to reflex. :P
(2) Kibin: Eh, I'll just go with the rogue.
(2) Kibin: Do I get another attribute value with 16th level?
(2) Kibin: Another point to add to an attribute.
(1) Jack Simth: But of course.
(1) Jack Simth: Which one?
(2) Kibin: I think charisma.
(2) Kibin: So I get a +1 to charisma based skills. :)
(1) Jack Simth: If I recall, str would increase damage by 1 point (for all attacks), as well as your to-hit; Con would increase HP by 16 points, charisma just adds a + to some skills..... hmm... what charimsa based skills are you going for... UMD, perhaps?
(3) Elorin (enter): 09:55
(2) Kibin: Hmmmm.
(2) Kibin: UMD?
(1) Jack Simth: Greetings.
(3) Elorin: Hi
(1) Jack Simth: Use Magic Device. Necessity for the spellcasting rogue.
(3) Elorin: just now doing all my levelup stuff
(2) Kibin: Hey. Use magic device is a class skill. Sweet.
(3) Elorin: what would be a good new 5th level spell known?
(2) Kibin: Now what skills to get.
(1) Jack Simth: Lots of useful spells at that level - Plane Shift, Disrupting, Spell Resistence, Wall of Stone....
(2) Kibin: You could get death ward.
(2) Kibin: But that's not level 5 I think.
(3) Elorin: Death Ward is level 4
(2) Kibin: Ah.
(3) Elorin: It is also, unfortunately, only 1 min/level and can't be made Persistent :(
(1) Jack Simth: Plane Shift and disrupting are fairly specialized; Spell Resistence has to be overcome for many beneficial effects as well; Wall of stone is useful for trapping targets, battlefield control, and occasionally getting through terrain (bridges, ramps, and the like), but only works when there is existing stone to build on.
(2) Kibin: 19th max on a skill?
(1) Jack Simth: Yep. Level+3.
(1) Jack Simth: That's for ranks, not total modifier.
(2) Kibin: Yeah.
(2) Kibin: I know. :)
(3) Elorin: There's always Mass Cure Light Wounds if I don't pick anything else
(3) Elorin: 1d8+17 healing to everyone at once
(1) Jack Simth: Yeah... just don't target Jason....
(1) Jack Simth: Positive energy effect - no miss chance.
(2) Kibin: How about summon monster V?
(3) Elorin: Or if I want to be able to heal him, Mass Inflict...
(3) Elorin: But he doesn't get hurt much anyway, usually
(2) Kibin: Dispel Evil?
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [5] = (5)
(2) Kibin: WOOHOO! :P
(1) Jack Simth: Nice roll; HP?
(2) Kibin: Yup.
(2) Kibin: For the past 3 levels or so I kept getting a 1. :P
(3) Elorin: Oh yeah, hp: [1d8+2] -> [1,2] = (3)
(3) Elorin: damn
(2) Kibin: Hehe.
(1) Jack Simth: Look who got your 1....
(2) Kibin: Anyway...
(2) Kibin: What about dispel evil?
(2) Kibin: Dispel any one enchantment spell cast by an evil creature, or any evil spell, automatically.
(2) Kibin: Saving throws and spell resistance does not apply/.
(2) Kibin: And if you keep the energy, you get a +4 deflection bonus to AC against attacks by evil creatures.
(3) Elorin: For a round/level
(3) Elorin: I would almost certainly prefer to spend my action attacking
(2) Kibin: BUT! It dispels any evil enchantment or evil spell automatically. No save.
(1) Jack Simth: Note that Deflection doesn't stack with Deflection, so a Ring of Protection won't stack.
(2) Kibin: Or caster level check.
(4) Observer (enter): 10:09
(1) Jack Simth: Greetings.
(2) Kibin: It's like break enchantment, but there's no required caster level check.
(1) Jack Simth: Have the new character prepared?
(3) Elorin: I think it's a little too specialized to be worth a spell known
(4) Derrel, for now.: Working on that now - Mostly need items.
(1) Jack Simth: Well, let me know when he's ready.
(4) Derrel, for now.: Bit of a hitch - I remembered 160,000 gold - Going to pump some stuff up.
(2) Kibin: Ooo, all evil spells.
(2) Kibin: And you can touch a evil creature from another plane to send it back to that plane.
(1) Jack Simth: Dispel magic can't get rid of Stoning, so neighter can Dispel Evil.
(2) Kibin: Maybe... :P
(2) Kibin: Greater Command?
(3) Elorin: There's also the matter of Flesh To Stone being Transmutation, not Enchantment
(2) Kibin: Oh wait, you already have that I thjink.
(3) Elorin: I've already got that one
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Break Enchantment ( level 5, "Frees subjects from enchantments, alterations, curses, and petrification" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Greater Command ( level 5, "As command, but affects one subject/level" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Flame Strike ( level 5, "Smite foes with divine fire (1d6/level damage)" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Righteous Might ( level 5, "Your size increases, and you gain combat bonuses" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Slay Living ( level 5, "Touch attack kills subject" )
(3) Elorin: That's what I already have
(2) Kibin: True Seeing?
(4) Derrel, for now.: 40/20 leaves me enough for BoA +7...
(1) Jack Simth: BoA?
(1) Jack Simth: Getting a feather boa?
(3) Elorin: Bracers of Armor
(2) Kibin: Wall of stone would be nice.
(4) Derrel, for now.: Bracers of Armor.
(3) Elorin: Why not get +8?
(2) Kibin: If a little subject to the DMs plot.
(4) Derrel, for now.: Boots of speed or boots of striding and springing?...
(4) Derrel, for now.: It's over 20% of my gp.
** (2) Kibin hugs his Bracers of Armor. **
(4) Derrel, for now.: 64,000 vs 52,000
(1) Jack Simth: 'cause he's got something else that's filling the "no more than 40%" slot.
(4) Derrel, for now.: Well, the rapier and the shortbow are filling that slot together.
(4) Derrel, for now.: 50k for each.
(1) Jack Simth: Those are two items, not one.
(1) Jack Simth: +5 equivalent is within the 20%....
(1) Jack Simth: If I'm remembering right, anyway.
(4) Derrel, for now.: Yeah - But they are both also under 20%
(2) Kibin: Now...
(3) Elorin: Why so much on the bow?
(2) Kibin: I have my skills. I think.
(3) Elorin: That's your backup weapon, right?
(1) Jack Simth: Well, 11 after.....
(2) Kibin: Kibin has more personality now! Yay!
(4) Derrel, for now.: Yeah, but with the way Jack likes to throw ranged enemies at us...
(4) Derrel, for now.: Uh...Can you cast GMW on it, too?
(2) Kibin: You know. I wonder if I'm the only rogue who likes to get into close range combat.
(1) Jack Simth: No. Two-weapon fighting rogues do so as well.
(2) Kibin: Okay. But I use a single one-handed weapon.
(3) Elorin: Rogues almost have to be melee to get sneak attack very often.
(3) Elorin: You can't flank with a ranged weapon
(1) Jack Simth: So what do you do with the other hand?
(2) Kibin: I. Uh...
(2) Kibin: Don't get a -2 to it? O.o
(3) Elorin: Carry a shield?
(4) Derrel, for now.: Goggles of Night?...
(2) Kibin: Bah. Me no like shields. :P
(3) Elorin: You like AC, don't you?
(2) Kibin: Yes...
(1) Jack Simth: You could also carry a backup weapon..... maybe find a Potion to keep handy.... or, if you went the UMD route at level up, a low-level wand.
(1) Jack Simth: Well, a wand, not necessarily low-level.
(2) Kibin: But dragons can't use shields. :P
(2) Kibin: What's the chances of me successfully using a wand? :P
(1) Jack Simth: Depends on how many ranks in UMD you have.
(2) Kibin: It would be less than a 50/50 chance if I used all 10 skill points.
(2) Kibin: Derrel, try an amulet of health or something.
(1) Jack Simth: A wand is DC 20.
(1) Jack Simth: A known wand, anyway.
(2) Kibin: Hmmm. I could get an extra +3 AC from improving my items.
(1) Jack Simth: 10 skill points +1 charisma bonus = +11; roll of 9 or better succeeds, 60% chance of success per try.
(2) Kibin: Huh.
(1) Jack Simth: Scrolls are trickier, however.
(2) Kibin: By the way... can we try moving to a 3d6 system instead of a d20 system?
(1) Jack Simth: Getting tired of outliers?
(2) Kibin: Of what now? :P
(1) Jack Simth: far-end rolls. (e.g., 1's, 20's)
(2) Kibin: Yeah, that's part of it.
(2) Kibin: It would result in a lot more average rolls.
(4) Derrel, for now.: Cloak of Resistance, instead.
(4) Derrel, for now.: 2d10 would be 2-20, closer to 1-20 than 3-18.
(2) Kibin: Derrel, what's your characters dexterity?
(4) Derrel, for now.: And outliers can be fun.
(4) Derrel, for now.: 14.
(3) Elorin: I think I'll go with Mass CLW for my new 5th level spell
(2) Kibin: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/adventuring/bellCurveRolls.htm
(2) Kibin: Or...
(3) Elorin: It can be nice not having to get close enough to touch to heal
(2) Kibin: Linky to 3d6 system!
(2) Kibin: Automatic successes/failures happen less than 1/2th of the time, instead of 5% of the time.
(4) Derrel, for now.: Hmm...Not using all his carrying capacity...Drop strength?
(2) Kibin: Challenge ratings for groups of monsters are reduces though.
(3) Elorin: You still get Str to damage, so don't neglect it entirely
(3) Elorin: 6th level spell, I need Greater Dispel Magic
(2) Kibin: Can we try it for a while and see how it goes? I think that it would be nice to be able to trust in the average, instead of worrying that I might get a 1 on a save-or-die effect.
(3) Elorin: 7th level, hmm
(4) Derrel, for now.: Yeah. And that Amulet of Health is looking tempting...48HP's...
(4) Derrel, for now.: Since we're using a computer, why not [3d20/3] -> 16.6666666667
(2) Kibin: Why?
(2) Kibin: [3d20/3] -> 4.66666666667
(2) Kibin: [3d20/3] -> 6.66666666667
(2) Kibin: [3d20/3] -> 12.0
(2) Kibin: [3d20/3] -> 12.3333333333
(2) Kibin: [3d20/3] -> 5.66666666667
(2) Kibin: [3d20/3] -> 5.0
(2) Kibin: [3d20/3] -> 7.66666666667
(2) Kibin: [3d20/3] -> 11.0
(2) Kibin: [3d20/3] -> 5.66666666667
(2) Kibin: [3d20/3] -> 13.3333333333
(2) Kibin: [3d20/3] -> 9.0
(2) Kibin: [3d20/3] -> 6.0
(2) Kibin: [3d20/3] -> 14.0
(2) Kibin: [3d20/3] -> 4.0
(2) Kibin: Hmmm. It is averaged out kind of better.
(2) Kibin: Hmmm. It is averaged out kind of better.
(2) Kibin: [3d20/3] -> 6.66666666667
(2) Kibin: [3d20/3] -> 4.66666666667
(4) Derrel, for now.: Ok, HP's...If the're to low, think I'll switch to Amulet of health.
(2) Kibin: I say 3d6. :P
(2) Kibin: There's a .5 increase in the average roll, however.
(4) Derrel, for now.: [16d10] -> [7,10,1,4,4,9,2,9,4,6,5,9,5,5,4,5] = (89)
(2) Kibin: And you can't roll a 1, 2, 19, or 20.
(2) Kibin: Lucky. :P
(4) Derrel, for now.: 1 more HP than average.
(1) Jack Simth: Max on first HD; that should be 92.
(4) Derrel, for now.: 92, then.
(4) Derrel, for now.: So...Which is more valuable...+5 to all rolls, or 140HP?
(2) Kibin: So what do you think of the 3d6 system?
(2) Kibin: I'd go for saves.
(4) Derrel, for now.: Er, +5 to all saves, I mean.
(1) Jack Simth: Oh, keeping the random element for now. I find it amusing.
(2) Kibin: And I think you shouldn't try to get an effective character that much. :P
(2) Kibin: Why?
(4) Derrel, for now.: Can't do Power Word: Kill on 140HP...
(2) Kibin: There's a 1 in 20 chance of failing any save roll or attack...
(2) Kibin: Especially the saving rolls.
(3) Elorin: Um, is anyone in the party not good aligned? I'm thinking of getting Holy Word.
(3) Elorin: The other possibility is Etherial Jaunt
(2) Kibin: Jason.
(4) Derrel, for now.: Nope.
(4) Derrel, for now.: Oh yeah.
(4) Derrel, for now.: Neutral.
(2) Kibin: I think he may be more of a neutral person.
(2) Kibin: We don't know yet, though.
(4) Derrel, for now.: Cloak of Resistance...
(1) Jack Simth: What does he hold on to when deciding it's a bad idea to follow his obsession?
(2) Kibin: It's annoying to roll a 1 on a save. Such as to fall into a boiling pit of lava...
(2) Kibin: Which happens frequently with you. It's kind of like playing russian roulette.
(4) Derrel, for now.: Ok, now to work out the effects of all this...
(5) Noahlus (enter): 10:36
(2) Kibin: With the 3d6 system, critical failures are a lot more meaningful.
(4) Derrel, for now.: Natural Armor contributes to Touch AC, right?
(2) Kibin: Nope.
(2) Kibin: Natural armor doesn't count towards touch AC.
(5) Noahlus (exit): 10:37
(1) Jack Simth: Natural armor doesn't count towards touch AC, sorry.
(2) Kibin: Would thick skin prevent someone from poking you? :P
(1) Jack Simth: [1d12] -> [8] = (8)
(2) Kibin: Have we left the shop yet?
(4) Derrel, for now.: How about Bracers of Armor?
(2) Kibin: I don't think those stack with normal armor.
(1) Jack Simth: Haven't gone into the RP room, yet....
(1) Jack Simth: They don't, but some of his nifties go away in armor.....
(4) Derrel, for now.: I don't have normal armor - Can't.
(3) Elorin: Bracers don't count towards touch, but neither does normal armor
(4) Derrel, for now.: Ok, thanks.
(1) Jack Simth: Bracers do, however, count towards incorporeal touch, where normal armor doesn't.
(4) Derrel, for now.: I think 31/20 will be good enough. :D
(3) Elorin: Unless you're talking about incorporeal touch, in which case the Bracers apply because they're a force effect
(3) Elorin: 31/20?
(2) Kibin: 31 AC, 20 touch AC>
(2) Kibin: I have 34/17. :P
(2) Kibin: Well. Unless me a kobold.
(4) Derrel, for now.: 33/22 with both Dodge bonuses.
(2) Kibin: Then I have 32/21
(2) Kibin: 33/22 with dodge bonuses. :P
(3) Elorin: Hmm, "incorporeal undead wink out if they enter an antimagic field"...
(2) Kibin: Huh.
(3) Elorin: 10 min./level
(2) Kibin: Huh....
(2) Kibin: Two hours 40 minutes of peace with antimagic field...
(2) Kibin: You know. I just realized if we stuck an antimagic field on the wagon, we'd be invincible to the ghost.
(3) Elorin: Cast that close enough to the ghost, ready actions, and everyone attack when I dismiss it :)
(2) Kibin: There's no possible way he could harm us, withholding siege weapons.
(4) Derrel, for now.: ...Jason?
(2) Kibin: Well. There's not much he could do against Jason, too.
(2) Kibin: And Jason usually stays underground.
(4) Derrel, for now.: Jack - Sent the .rtf.
(2) Kibin: Anyway... Can we roleplay already? 40 minutes overdue...
(4) Derrel, for now.: Don't think I missed anything.
(4) Derrel, for now.: I was pointing out that Jason would wink out...
(2) Kibin: Yes.
(2) Kibin: But Jason could simply not be in the antimagic field.
(4) Derrel, for now.: ...Which leaves him fighting the ghost. Alone.
(2) Kibin: I think my attention span went out the window. :P
(2) Kibin: I'll go set up my Matrix DVD>
(2) Kibin: Ooo, widescreen.
** (2) Kibin snores. **
(1) Jack Simth: Ready to game?
Moving to room 'D and D'..

Server Administrator->
Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for
a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.
Session is schedualed for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.
(4) Derrel, for now. (enter): 10:50
(3) Elorin (enter): 10:50
(2) Kibin (enter): 10:50
(4) Derrel, for now.: [Bad dice format] - [OOC: I presume, then, that my character is ok...]
(2) Kibin: (Yay!)
(3) Elorin: (Isn't Kaylin supposed to be here?)
(2) Kibin: (Yes. But she's not. :P)
(1) GM: Haven't checked PM's; run with it for now, I'll check specifics later.
(4) Derrel, for now.: (120,000XP?...)
(2) Kibin: (I wonder if bane weapons would look any different to the creature that the bane is effective against. Like a glow that they see, or something.)
(1) GM: Still in the shop, at the moment...
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Will there be anything else?
(2) Kibin: (Hmmm.
** (2) Kibin asks the shopkeeper, "I'll have to wait till the quarintine is over to improve an existing item, right?" **
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Unless you want it to take a while; depending on how much you want to spend, improving it can take a mere day or two, or over three months.
(3) Elorin: (Switching out Prayer for Magic Circle Against Evil)
** (2) Kibin says, "I'll just wait then." **
(4) Derrel, for now.: (Cover for Derrels' upcoming absence?)
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Fair enough.
(1) GM: Ready to switch him out?
(3) Elorin: Do you have any Boots of Speed in stock?
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Think so. Let me check.....
(1) GM: The shopkeeper rummages around under the counter for a moment.
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Yep.
(4) Derrel, for now.: (Still entering stuff in openRPG)
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Twelve grand, standard pricings.
(3) Elorin: I'll take them.
(1) GM: The shopkeeper takes the money, and hands over the boots.
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Enjoy. Those things are great for getting places in a hurry.
(4) Derrel, for now.: (Derrel will be mostly NPC while I type stuff)
(2) Kibin: (Does elorin have shield of faith?
(3) Elorin: Oh, I have my own way of getting somewhere really fast.
(1) GM: For no apparent reason, a glowing, golden archway appears in the shop.
(3) Elorin: These are more for combat when the wizard is too busy to cast Haste.
(1) GM: A heavy horse of purest white steps out.
(1) GM: It speaks:
(1) GM: Horse: Derrel?
whispering to Derrel, for now., Ping!
whispering to Derrel, for now., Ping!
whispering to Derrel, for now., Ping!
whispering to Derrel, for now., Ping!
(2) Kibin: (Derrel?)
(1) GM: Ah, right - typing....
whispering to Derrel, for now., Ping!
whispering to Derrel, for now., Ping!
whispering to Derrel, for now., Ping!
whispering to Derrel, for now., Ping!
(1) GM: Derrel: Umm... hello?
(4) Derrel, for now.: (Pong)
(1) GM: For no apparent reason, a glowing, golden archway appears in the shop.
(1) GM: A heavy horse of purest white steps out.
(4) Derrel, for now.: (Was busy typing)
(1) GM: It speaks:
(1) GM: Horse: Derrel?
(4) Derrel, for now.: (And in a minute, my noodles will be done)
(4) Derrel, for now.: ...Yes?
whispering to Derrel, for now., Exit with style....
(1) GM: Horse: You never call me up, but I have a favor to ask.
(4) Derrel, for now.: What is it?
(1) GM: Horse: There's been an invasion, and we need all the assistence we can muster. Unfortunately, the area is hostile to those not among the True.
(1) GM: Horse: Would you accompany me to help stop the Hordes?
(4) Derrel, for now.: (If you threw in something about the hordes being responcible for the current plague, it would smooth things over.)
(2) Kibin: (But there is no plague.)
(2) Kibin: (There never was a plague.)
(1) GM: ("Plauge" is due to the ghost... which is known.... and can't be handled by brute force anyway)
(4) Derrel, for now.: (Ah, ok. Running back and forth between here and the kitchen...)
(4) Derrel, for now.: Duty calls, my friends. May we meet again, this side of death.
(4) Derrel, for now.: (Pause for responces)
(1) GM: The horse kneels brefily, and says "Many thanks. Time is important; are you ready?"
(2) Kibin: :says, "We can survive without you."
(3) Elorin: I wish you luck.
(4) Derrel, for now.: Yes.
(4) Derrel, for now.: * Derrel mounts.
(1) GM: Jason: Hope you have better luck than I did the first time, fighting evil....
(1) GM: The horse walks back through the golden arch, and the horse and Derrel vanish.
(1) GM: A moment later, the archway vanishes from sight.
(2) Kibin: Do you think he left any gold behind in the wagon?
(1) GM: Of Course not.
(1) GM: He was going shopping, after all.
(2) Kibin: (That was IC. :P)
(1) GM: Jason: Of course not; he was going shopping, after all.
** (2) Kibin asks, "You sure?" **
(1) GM: Jason: Fairly.
(3) Elorin: (dividing up Derrel's money among the party would help make up for the rather large share of party loot he got recently (Manual of Bodily Exercise))
(4) Derrel, for now.: (I wouldn't have complaints)
(2) Kibin: (Elorin would make a better rogue than I am...)
(4) Derrel, for now.: (Neither would Derrel)
(3) Elorin: Are you following newfound draconic instints for building up a horde, or are you just greedy, Kibin?
(3) Elorin: (er, hoard not horde)
(1) GM: Jason: Is there a difference?
(3) Elorin: Heh, maybe not.
** (2) Kibin says, "I don't want that money to go to waste in the other plane?" Kibin smiles. **
(1) GM: Jason: Yep, greed.
(4) Derrel, for now.: (Course it won't go to waste. It'll all be melted down into religeous artifacts...:D )
(1) GM: (used for making assorted magic items to help the various recalled Paladins.....)
(2) Kibin: (Well. There's not exactly a store in the celestial planes.)
(4) Derrel, for now.: (You don't know that...)
(2) Kibin: (No. I don't. I'm making assumtions, like rogues do.)
(4) Derrel, for now.: (I'm argueing. Like Fyron do.)
(2) Kibin: (Now. Lets just roleplay instead of metagaming? :P)
(1) GM: Jason: So, shall we seek out the king, to see about getting this quarentine lifted?
(2) Kibin: (I didn't expect to get the money anyway.)
** (2) Kibin nods. "And so that we can get the quarintine lifted so I won't have to stay a kobold to use a sword..." **
(1) GM: Jason: Ah, yes, those nifty claws....
(2) Kibin: Yes. And hopefully teeth too.
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Sorry, don't have them in a tooth cover. Much too specialized.
(2) Kibin: Well. Claws anyway.
(2) Kibin: (Do I have to shove you people to go to the king! :P)
(1) GM: Jason: Shall we go?
(3) Elorin: Yes
(2) Kibin: (Trying not to be impusive is good and all, but you're going too far when you wait 5-10 minutes to decide what to do next.)
** (2) Kibin travels with the party to the king. **
whispering to Derrel, for now., by the way - let me know when you've got your character ready - might have the king order a retainer to accompany....
(1) GM: You find the castle proper. The gate stands open; it would apear that the king is taking audience. Lots of people are waiting in line to see the king; mosltly various shoppkeepers and the like petitioning for different things - grievences against other, from the looks of their faces.
(4) Derrel, for now. (whispering): Actually, that would work very well. I've been thinking of him probably being part of a knightly order - Renasaunce Medieval type. Need to buy some nobles clothes...Should have enough.
(2) Kibin: Probally a good thing time isn't too important for me... We're going to be waiting for a while.
(1) GM: A bored guard gestures for you to get in line.
whispering to Derrel, for now., going noble, don't forget the jewelery; could also go courtier.
** (2) Kibin gets in line, seeing as how he doesn't have much of a choice. **
(1) GM: Jason glances around, and goes etherial....
(1) GM: Waiting patiently for a few hours?
(1) GM: [2d4] -> [2,4] = (6)
(2) Kibin: (Why not?)
(4) Derrel, for now. (whispering): Courtier plus jewels, for a knight, methinks.
(1) GM: After about five hours, you get close enough to the audience chamber to hear the king; his voice sounds very similar to that of the armor-clad man from the wall.
(4) Derrel, for now. (whispering): Made with an eye for combat practility.
** (2) Kibin hmms thoughtfully. "What I thought, apparently the king and general were affected too..." **
(2) Kibin: (I think that that was the general. Hmmm.
(1) GM: And you hear snatches of th cases brought before him; merchants complaining about other's weights not being quite right, others worried that they can't get materials, and the like.
(1) GM: In all cases, they are patiently heard out, and a judgement is given.
(4) Derrel, for now.: (Most, probably, just wanting to make sure somebody in charge knows their problems)
(1) GM: In all cases, it would be difficult for the judgement to be any more fair... but at no point does the king make an exception to the quarentine.
(2) Kibin: (How to arrange openRPG so I can watch the matrix reloaded and roleplay at the same time...)
(1) GM: Finally, after six full hours of standing in line, it's your turn....
(3) Elorin: (brb)
(1) GM: The king looks very much like the general on the wall - the main difference being that his armor is golden, and he wears a crown instead of a helmet.
(1) GM: His hair is jet black, and his face is utterly impassive. His unreadable eyes are a pure blue.
** (2) Kibin lets Elorin talk. **
(1) GM: Read back up two or three lines, to Elorin's last statement.....
(2) Kibin: (By the way... can you use descriptions of monsters instead of pictures for a while? Not enough room for the map.)
(2) Kibin: (Oh. :P)
(4) Derrel, for now.: (Elorin is BRB'ing...)
(2) Kibin: (Uh...)
(2) Kibin: (Do the other people bow before speaking to the king? :P)
(4) Derrel, for now.: (Typed that before I read what Jack typed. :) )
(1) GM: You notice most everyone kneels, at least once, in the presense of the King.
(1) GM: Many stay on their knees.
(1) GM: A few more priviledged individuals actually have chairs.
(4) Derrel, for now.: (Not kneeling would be for people like Dukes and Earls)
(4) Derrel, for now.: (The highest of them would do a simple bow)
** (2) Kibin kneels before the king, then, as it's probally customary to do. And waits for the king to give them permission to speak before talking. **
(4) Derrel, for now.: (At least, in most historical fantasy)
(1) GM: Listen checks?
(1) GM: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [10,10] = (20)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [5,18] = (23)
(2) Kibin: (Hmmmph. Is there a way to open a webpage in openRPG?
(1) GM: King: Plead your case.
(2) Kibin: (Meh. I really want elorin to do this. Not good at talking.)
(1) GM: (In? Not that I know of; from? Yep.: Linky)
(3) Elorin: (back, had to meet delivery guy to get lunch)
(2) Kibin: (I mean in. So I don't have to stop watching the matrix to look at cahracter sheet.
(1) GM: Right-click taskbar, select a "tile" option.
(2) Kibin: (I'll just improvise somthing.
(1) GM: Anyone going to address the King?
(1) GM: He just asked.....
(2) Kibin: (Uh, yeah.)
(2) Kibin: (Yay elorin is back! :P)
(3) Elorin: We are here to ask that the quarantine be lifted, as we believe we know the "disease"'s cause, and it is no actual disease.
(4) Derrel, for now.: (BRB)
(1) GM: Listen checks?
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [18,10] = (28)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [2,18] = (20)
** (2) Kibin thinks silently, "What, no sir?" **
whispering to Elorin, you hear a faint whisper: "Do tell"
(1) GM: King; Do tell.
(2) Kibin: (Yay, kungfu. :P)
(4) Derrel, for now.: (Back)
(3) Elorin: We are adventurers, and shortly before the "plague" started here, we encountered a ghost sorcerer who was conducting research into various unethical humanoid and animal transmutations.
(2) Kibin: (Anyway. :P)
(3) Elorin: We managed to drive him out of the town where he had turned most everyone into pillows for his research, but we were not able to prevent him from escaping.
(3) Elorin: We think he came here afterwards and is now continuing his research
(1) GM: Listen checks?
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [8,10] = (18)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [12,18] = (30)
whispering to Kibin, you hear a faint whisper: "Do you have any proof of this?"
(1) GM: King: Do you have any proof of this?
(4) Derrel, for now.: (Maybe you shouldn't have mentioned the pillows... :D )
(3) Elorin: The techniques he used then were slower and harder than what is happening now, but they had the same characteristic of being not subject to any sort of dispelling magic
(2) Kibin: Sir, noone has seen the process either.
(3) Elorin: And leaving only a dim fading aura to detection spells afterwards.
(1) GM: Listen checks?
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [5,10] = (15)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [10,18] = (28)
whispering to Kibin, you hear yet another of the faint whispers: Yet all that is known for the current state of affairs. You might still be lying to leave town. More is needed.
(1) GM: King: Yet all that is known for the current state of affairs. You might still be lying to leave town. More is needed.
** (2) Kibin probally shouldn't mention that he can leave town at any time he wishes... **
(1) GM: Kibin also hasn't tried leaving town yet..... where did all those archers come from, anyway?
(2) Kibin: (They wouldn't notice a small sparrow, would they?)
(1) GM: (Sure they wood - food is always wanted when a city is sealed.)
(2) Kibin: (Point taken. :P)
(4) Derrel, for now.: (You could mention the witness of the smith...)
(3) Elorin: We have no proof that the ghost is here, as we have not encountered him for a few days and only just arrived, but we can demonstrate the process he used before.
(3) Elorin: Repeating it with a different desired end result is the only way we know of to reverse it.
(1) GM: Listen checks?
** (2) Kibin whispers to Elorin, "Kaylin probally doesn't have the correct spells prepared..." **
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [1,10] = (11)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [2,18] = (20)
(1) GM: King: We see. We would require a demonstration, of course. Eldon?
(3) Elorin: We may need a day for our wizard to prepare the required spells, however. I don't think she usually prepares them without knowing they will be needed that day.
(2) Kibin (whispering): I wonder if anyone will miss the pronoun slip. :P
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: * A halfling in doublet and hose comes before the king, kneeling and sweeping his plumed hat from his head, he announces 'Yes, my liege?'
whispering to Kibin, easily passed off as Royal "we".
(1) GM: Listen checks?
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [8,10] = (18)
(2) Kibin (whispering): It's nice having a good listen check.
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [9,18] = (27)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+0] -> [14,0] = (14)
(2) Kibin: (Wait.)
(2) Kibin: (A halfling? :P)
(2) Kibin: (Is he going to wear my as a hat?)
(2) Kibin: (me*)
(1) GM: King: A demonstration subject is required. If they do anything particularly bad, you will be avenged swiftly. If they are correct, you will be required to accompany them in the dissoulusion of the threat. After which, your debt to this court will be fulfilled, and you may choose your own path.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: (Nope)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: 'Yes, my liege.'
(1) GM: Listen checks?
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [10,10] = (20)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [4,18] = (22)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+0] -> [20,0] = (20)
(1) GM: King: So be it. Return on the morrow, with your Wizard ready for the demonstration. Now begone.
(1) GM: Several plate-clad guards usher you out.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: (Eldon as well?)
** (2) Kibin leaves without prompting. **
(3) Elorin: Wait, there is one more thing required for the process that we are not skilled in creating ourselves.
(1) GM: They all wear full plate, with their faces covered. The same style of armor as the King.
(1) GM: Listen checks?
(3) Elorin: A mold in the original shape of the subject to be restored
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [16,10] = (26)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+15] -> [19,15] = (34)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+0] -> [12,0] = (12)
whispering to Kibin, whisper again: Our craftsmen will deal with it. Tommorrow.
(1) GM: King: Our caraftsmen will deal with it. Tommorrow.
(1) GM: Yes, Elon too.
(1) GM: The king looks away...
** (3) Elorin bows and turns to leave **
(1) GM: Listen checks?
(2) Kibin: [1d20+15] -> [8,15] = (23)
(2) Kibin: (Dang.)
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot. bows again, placing hat over heart, then turns and leaves. **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+0] -> [3,0] = (3)
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [7,10] = (17)
(1) GM: King: Next up?
(1) GM: You're quickly and effieciently ushered out of the audience chamber, and past a few guards, their faces uncovered, who are told that these people are to be ushered in as soon as they arrive tomorrow only.
** (2) Kibin comments once they're out of the castle and the guards are away, "That was easier than I thought it would be. I'd thought we'd have to scare that ghost away first." **
(1) GM: Jason manifests.....
(3) Elorin: What ghost?
(2) Kibin: Welcome back, Jason.
(1) GM: Jason: Did some looking around. Ever heard of assasin bait?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: * Eldon raises an eyebrow.
(2) Kibin: Not really. What are you talking about?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: The phrase seems easily understood.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: Who is being staked out and why?
(2) Kibin: Yes. But I'm wondering what it has to do with anything.
(1) GM: Jason: The king is not in the audience chamber at all. Were someone to kill the man on the throne, the kingdom would not be without it's leader.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: For that matter, we want for proper introductions.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: That is often done, in the courtrooms of kingdoms.
(2) Kibin: Huh. Some type of magic spell whispering the king's command in his ear?
(2) Kibin: That would explain a lot.
(1) GM: Jason: It would appear so.
(1) GM: Kaylin: So, Eldon, are you ready for the morrow?
(2) Kibin: That would explain the faint voice.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: I am ready for all that my honour requires of me.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: However, I would wish an explaination of just exactly what would be required.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, your part is mostly just letting the first spell to come your way happen, and then trying to survive after that.
(2) Kibin: Yeah, us melee types are commonly target practice.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: Sounds simple enough, but for the part about survival.
(3) Elorin: Oh, we have a variation on the original version that should make the survival part not a problem
(2) Kibin: Yeah.
(2) Kibin: So what do you want to be?
(1) GM: Kaylin: There's a reson the experiments were termed "unethical". Even with the expert craftsmen of the king, you may not come out looking quite like you do now... and there's not much anyone can do about it.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: That sounds heartening. But details, good man, details are one of the delicacies of life...
(1) GM: Jason
(1) GM: Jason: You're turned to stone, then to mud, then back to stone, then back to flesh.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: Some sort of transformation process?
(1) GM: Jason: While in the mud phase, your shape is changed.
(3) Elorin: Well, it starts with turning you to stone...
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: Ah. A fairly simple progress.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: (He has an Int of 26)
(2) Kibin: (I have an int of 14, but a lot smarter when it's coming to figuring out stuff.)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: (Anyone know where Violist is?)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Yeah. Simple. Four spells and some serious preparatory work. No difficulty.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: I did not say the process was simple, simply it's progress.
(2) Kibin: So what do you want to be?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: From flesh to stone to mud to stone to flesh. Five elements.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: I am exactly as I wish to be.
(2) Kibin: I mean for the demonstration.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: And I answered your question.
(1) GM: Jason: A somewhat rare occurence, that. Well, let's hope the King's craftsmen are up to the challenge.
** (2) Kibin sighs. It's going to be fun with him in the party... **
(3) Elorin: (huh, for some reason I read the "demonstration subject required" line as a command to find someone suffering from the "disease" and bring him in)
(1) GM: (So you missed the part about "particularly bad" and "your revenge"?)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: Minor facial details are not my concern. *Waves a hand airily* So long as I do not come out marred.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: (I didn't)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: (Basically, if Eldon dies or is a cripple or something, the king has an excuse to throw you in the dungeon)
** (2) Kibin mumbles as the party goes back to the wagon, "You're worse than Kaylin..." **
(1) GM: "Avenged" doesn't usually involve imprisionment....
(2) Kibin: (It means the peasants get some well-needed entertainment.)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: (Well, I was trying to put a cheerfull face on it)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: ('Share his fate' would be more likely)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: * At the wagon.
(1) GM: Looking oddly at the mobile cloud?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: Now, there remains only the matter of proper introductions. May I know the names of those who will be doing said procedure.
(1) GM: Kaylin: I will be perfomring most of it; call me Kaylin. Or
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: * Eldon looks at it, assumes it's some sort of magical camoflage, then proceeds.
(1) GM: Kaylin: beauty. Or something otherwise flattering.
(2) Kibin: My name is Kibin. I make sure that you don't fall into any bottomless pits, and open your treasure chests for you.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: Greetings, goodwoman.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: Ah. Usefull skills indeed.
(3) Elorin: I am Elorin. I'll be the one turning you back into flesh.
(1) GM: Jason: And I'm Jason. Don't let the neck wound put you off too much.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: (18 diplomacy)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: Greetings to you, goodman.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: Bah. I've seen worse.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: My name, then, is Sir Eldon Quickfoot.
(1) GM: Jason leans his head back, exposing bone lying underneath.....
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot. inspects it closely. **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: That must have been painfull.
(3) Elorin: (incomplete beheading?)
(2) Kibin: Jason is an excellent party crasher, as you can see.
(3) Elorin: (like Nearly Headless Nick? :P)
(1) GM: Jason: Still is. But it's been a millenia. I've adjusted.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot.: Well done, then.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Got rid of the '.')
(1) GM: A messenger comes up to the party.
(3) Elorin: Yes?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (I'm going to check IRC)
(1) GM: Messenger: By order of the King, lodgings have been prepared for you this night at the Cat and Dog tavern, if you care to accept the King's hospitality.
(2) Kibin: Cat and Dog tavern doesn't sound like it's too fancy.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: These sorts of invitations are not generally...Negotiable.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, you're familiar with the town - the name's deceptive. Very expensive lodgings.
(3) Elorin: Lead the way
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Besides, the Cat and Dog is meant to be ironic...Very expensive, indeed.
(1) GM: The messenger nods, and leads you through some twisting roads to the fancy side of town, and into a decidedly uncrowded inn.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Not on IRC)
(2) Kibin: Ah.
(1) GM: As you enter the door, you catch a wiff of incense and perfume, and listen to some soft music playing in the background - live music, as you spot the musicians in a corner.
(2) Kibin: I see.
(3) Elorin: (Violist posted je
(3) Elorin: (Violist posted he's having trouble with a net filter blocking Jack's server in the thread)
(1) GM: Quite skilled. The tables are in spacious private booths, with heavy curtains that can be drawn for privacy when needed. A few conservatively, but well dressed women carry trays of drinks, food, and such to tose sitting at the tables.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot tosses his hat onto an empty table and calls for food and drink. **
(1) GM: That's soleveable.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Being non-sepecific - Don't have time to look it up)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Balance Skill Check: [1d20+21] -> [17,21] = (38)
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot leans back on the back two legs of the chair, then stays balanced there. **
(2) Kibin: (Uh... What's your dexterity at?)
(1) GM: You're greeted by an attractive waitress, who brings you a plate loaded with sweetmeats, vegetables, and a salad, as well as a full bottle of expensive wine and a few well-wroght glasses.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (21 Balance skill)
(1) GM: Waitress: Ah, the king's guests. Anything else I can get for you?
(2) Kibin: (Is that even possible?)
(2) Kibin: (19 is the max skill rank you can have.)
(3) Elorin: (19 ranks +2 dex would do it)
(1) GM: Max ranks 19.....
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yep)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (19+2)
(2) Kibin: (Thank you. I'm still more dexterious happilly.)
(2) Kibin: :hmmmphs. Showoff.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: What you have brought is more than enough.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot starts eating however fancy people eat. **
** (3) Elorin sits down and orders some food **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Never could get that whole 'spoon, soup spoon, fork, salad fork, etc.' thing)
(3) Elorin: (I don't need to eat, but it would be rude not to, I think)
(1) GM: You're greeted by a different attractive waitress, who brings you a plate loaded with sweetmeats, vegetables, and a salad, as well as a full bottle of expensive wine and a few well-wroght glasses.
(1) GM: Seems everyone gets their own wiatress....
(1) GM: Kaylin gets a waiter. Elven, even.
** (3) Elorin unobtrusively taps Eldon's chair leg under the table **
(3) Elorin: (LP)
(1) GM: Balance check?
(3) Elorin: (:P)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Balance Skill Check: [1d20+21] -> [11,21] = (32)
** (2) Kibin splurges a bit, eating his meal happily. **
(1) GM: Eldon stays quite secure on his pearch....
(1) GM: And at that level, you can even choose not to seem to notice at all....
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot smiles cheerfully at Elorin. **
(3) Elorin: Impressive. Most Impressive.
(3) Elorin: Now let's see you eat the whole meal like that :)
** (2) Kibin says to Eldon, "You have something on your shirt." Trying to get him to look and fall off balance. **
(1) GM: Bluff vs. Sense Motive?
(2) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [15,19] = (34)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [15,19] = (34)
(2) Kibin: (Wow.)
(3) Elorin: (lol)
(1) GM: Tie - re-roll!
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (lol)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [6,19] = (25)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [14,19] = (33)
(2) Kibin: (Dang. :(
(1) GM: The clever halfling is hardly fooled at all.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot smiles cheerfully at Kibin **
(1) GM: Jason: Really, you do...
(1) GM: Bluff Skill Check: [1d20+23] -> [8,23] = (31)
(2) Kibin: (+2 for circumstance bonus?)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [14,19] = (33)
(1) GM: Still not fooled, either way. Oh well....
(2) Kibin: (For Jason. :P)
(1) GM: Ah, Aid another... yes... tie! Re-roll....
(1) GM: Bluff Skill Check: [1d20+23] -> [16,23] = (39)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [6,19] = (25)
(2) Kibin: (Ha.)
(3) Elorin: (no, Jason had the higher modifier, so he wins ties)
(1) GM: Balance check?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Balance Skill Check: [1d20+21] -> [16,21] = (37)
(1) GM: (I personally prefer the re-roll mechanism; house rule)
(1) GM: Eldon glances down and looks himself over without falling.
** (2) Kibin sighs. Yup, this is going to be fun... **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (I don't think it would make much difference; he's not going to jerk around in this position)
(1) GM: Jason: Always good to have someone that isn't readily fooled along. You'll do well.
** (2) Kibin thinks it would be a little overboard if he paralzyed him to get him to fall down. **
** (2) Kibin finishes his meal. **
(3) Elorin: (so, what about my challenge to stay balanced on two chair legs through the entire meal without touching anything but the silverware and food?)
(1) GM: He takes 10, and makes it.
(1) GM: I can't really justify that as more than a DC 30.
(3) Elorin: (I'd think the DC would go up the longer he kept it up, but oh well. It's just minor playing around)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Oh, by the way - They make kobolds sleep on the floor.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Bluff Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [7,19] = (26)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah well - Worth a shot)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [13,11] = (24)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: ( :D )
(2) Kibin: (Hmmmm.)
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot then proceeds to grin cheerfully at Kibin and says 'Gotcha' **
(3) Elorin: (I'd give Eldon a bonus on that, too, for being known to be more knowledgeable about the area than us)
(2) Kibin: (I think I could reasonably get the +5 for me for it being a little hard to believe. :P)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Not really - Expensive places are often prejudiced. Look at history)
(1) GM: DM's friend - +2; to both. Eldon still wins.
** (2) Kibin hmmphs. "Well, it doesn't matter most of the time..." **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (And he's used to verbal challenge - Part of his daily life, especially being 3~ feet tall)
(2) Kibin: (What about me having local knowledge? Huh?)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eldon did tip his hand - 'Gotcha')
(1) GM: Did you take Knoweledge(Local)?
(2) Kibin: (Yup.)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (He doesn't want to start a war in the party. :) )
(2) Kibin: (Tired of not knowing anything. So I took a knowledge skill.)
(3) Elorin: (more specifically, did you take Knowledge (Local: this city)?)
(1) GM: 5 ranks or more? +2 Synergy, then... which makes for a tie... re-roll!
(2) Kibin: (Huh.)
(3) Elorin: (Knowledge (Local) is specific to a particular locality, you know)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Bluff Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [16,19] = (35)
(2) Kibin: (Do you really expect us to take a local skill for EACH AND EVERY city?!?)
(1) GM: Knoweledge skills are defined as supposed to be "broad categories", I view it more as the knoweledge of how to find out about the details of a town quickly. If he's got 5 full ranks, he gets the Synergy. Otherwise, no tie.
(2) Kibin: [1d20+13] -> [5,13] = (18)
(2) Kibin: (With the synergy in it. Which fails.)
(2) Kibin: (Which mean it works. But I don't really care. :P)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Insert the smile and 'Gotcha' here, after just long enough for Kibin to start worrying)
(2) Kibin: (Sorry, only three.)
(1) GM: Besides - you could just shrug and be a halfling....
(2) Kibin: (I never worried though. :P)
(1) GM: With ranks in Disguise, you could even seem to be Eldon.....
(2) Kibin: (Anyway...)
(2) Kibin: (We done with the meal now?)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yeah, this is longer than I expected it to take)
(2) Kibin: (I don't need ranks in disguise, I think.)
(1) GM: The meal is extrordinarily tasty, and takes a full hour to eat.
(1) GM: Spellcraft check?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Shape-shifting can turn you into a halfling; disguise makes you look like a specfic halfling)
(2) Kibin: (True.)
(2) Kibin: (But I get a +10 to disguise checks.)
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [16,19] = (35)
(2) Kibin: (For form of disguise.)
whispering to Elorin, the meal is a result of a Hero's Feast spell.....
(1) GM: And tastes much like the meals Elorin prepares in the mornings.
(1) GM: (to the same effect, too)
(3) Elorin: Oh my, this must be a very expensive inn.
** (2) Kibin comments to Elorin, "I think that you don't need to fix us that feast in the morning." **
(2) Kibin: (I need the soundtrack to the matrix. :P)
(1) GM: Going to bed?
(2) Kibin: (I guess so.)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Unless there's something else to do, Eldon will tip his hat, tip the wait staff and go to his room)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (How much would the tip be?)
(2) Kibin: (With hope that you'll give us a bit of rest... for once... without interruptions...)
(1) GM: Nobody is presented with a bill.....
(1) GM: But it's obviously someplace that's very difficult to afford for the vast majority of the populace.
(3) Elorin: (I believe the messenger said the King is paying for it all)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yeah, but he'd still leave a tip. It's expected of him and he's got the whole 'Noble Obligations' thing.)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (And it's courtious)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Or however you spell that)
** Sorry, don't understand what a /4 is...
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, you've never been inside this particular restraunt before, and have absolutely no idea how much people tip.
(2) Kibin: (Anyway...)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (10gp, then. Better to tip too much than too little...)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot (whispering): Never mind that his money is running out; he's expected to keep up appearances.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (The next morning?)
(1) GM: When you're done eating, the staff quietly shows you to your rooms - everyone gets a private room, with a hot bath, already drawn, and even perfumed. The beds are quire soft, but there is an odd layer of fog at the doorway... that can't be seen from inside.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (BRB)
(1) GM: The next morning, after a similar breakfast, a courtier shows up to take everyone to the king.
(3) Elorin: (let's see, Heroes' Feast for the food, permanent Mage's Private Sanctum on the rooms... do we get Unseen Servants too? :P)
** (2) Kibin goes ahead and takes a bath while he can. **
(1) GM: (yep)
(1) GM: (or seen ones, if you request such)
(2) Kibin: (I should now have nice shiney scales in dragon form. :P)
(1) GM: Everyone coming?
(2) Kibin: (Yup.)
(1) GM: At the palace, the courtier is exchanged for an honor guard of those odd knights in the full plate. They don't talk much, but take you directly to the audience chamber.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Back)
(1) GM: In the chamber, you see a pair of molds just waiting for you. One's labeld "Eldon as-is"
(2) Kibin: (And the other mold is of?)
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot surveys them grimly. **
(1) GM: Unlabeled, and can't tell from outside.
(2) Kibin: This should be interesting...
(1) GM: The molds look like they are very, very well crafted, although as they are designed for things to be poured in at the top, it's extremely difficult to tell exactly what they are supposed to be.
(1) GM: Listen checks?
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [8,10] = (18)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [15,18] = (33)
whispering to Kibin, whisper again: Are you ready for the demonstration?
(1) GM: Man on throne: Are you ready for the demonstration?
(2) Kibin: Yes, we're ready.
(1) GM: Listen checks?
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [19,10] = (29)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [2,18] = (20)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Yes, my liege.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: * Does the bow again.
** (2) Kibin probally shouldn't reply that quickly. **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+0] -> [6,0] = (6)
whispering to Elorin, whisper again: Then do so.
(1) GM: Man on throne: Then do so.
(3) Elorin: All right, Eldon, it'll be easier if you climb up there yourself before we start
(2) Kibin: Please keep your bodyparts inside the mold at all times.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hmm...Could I jump up there? DC?)
(1) GM: Let's see... about four feet high.... base Jump DC of 16, 32 without a running start.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Run, jump)
(2) Kibin: (16 is easy.)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+0] -> [1,0] = (1)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Jump Skill Check: [1d20+21] -> [1,21] = (22)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Oops)
(2) Kibin: (Hehe.)
(3) Elorin: (1's only auto-fail on attack rolls and saves)
(2) Kibin: (Yes, we know. :P
(1) GM: Fortunately, that's more than sufficeint with the run; Eldon lands safely (if not gracefully) on top of the mold.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (So he makes it)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Ready?
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot takes a bow **
(1) GM: Kaylin casts her first spell - Flesh to Stone.
(1) GM: Fort save? Or not?
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot solidifies. **
(1) GM: Kaylin then casts her second spell - Stone to Mud
(1) GM: And Eldon slops down into the mold.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot blurbles **
(1) GM: Kaylin then casts a third spell - Dispel Magic, to dismiss the Ston to Mud.
(1) GM: And eldon is once again solid as a rock.
(1) GM: Kaylin then gestures for the guards to break the mold - which they do, revealing a statue of a swooping eagle, so detailed that it almost looks alive.....
(2) Kibin: Interesting.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ooh, forgot the boots of striding and springing...)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Elorin? Your turn.
(3) Elorin: So he'll get to have a little fun flying, eh?
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Break Enchantment ( level 5, "Frees subjects from enchantments, alterations, curses, and petrification" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 5 Spell ( level 5, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) GM: Caster level check?
(3) Elorin: [1d20+15] -> [13,15] = (28)
(1) GM: Minimum caster level for the 6th level spell is 11, so that passes.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, You wake up feathered.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot examines himself and fluffs his feathers a few times. **
(1) GM: The statue does indeed come to life - and looks like a perfect eagle, although a little bewildered.
(4) Eldon Quickwing: Int check: [1d20+8] -> [19,8] = (27)
(4) Eldon Quickwing: (Only a little)
(2) Kibin: Interesting.
(4) Eldon Quickwing: (You know...This could start a fad...The horror!)
(1) GM: Listen check?
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [12,10] = (22)
(4) Eldon Quickwing: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+0] -> [15,0] = (15)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [16,18] = (34)
(2) Kibin: (These listen checks are getting annoying.)
whispering to Kibin, And the reverse?
(1) GM: King: And the reverse?
(2) Kibin: Ah, yes, it's the exact same process.
(3) Elorin: Same procedure, different mold.
(3) Elorin: Get in position, Eldon
(2) Kibin: Maybe your wizards would liek to try dispelling the effect first?
(2) Kibin: (Like*)
** (4) Eldon Quickwing flaps up to the other mold. **
** (4) Eldon Quickwing enjoys his new eyesight. **
(1) GM: The man on the throne nods at a man in robes, sitting nearby, who casts a few spells... to no effect.
(1) GM: Robed Man: Seems like an identical effect, minus the merging issue.
(1) GM: The man in golden armor nods, and gestures for you to continue.
(2) Kibin: Well, all you have to do is probally do that with two people...
(1) GM: Kaylin casts again at Eldon....
(1) GM: Fort save?
** (4) Eldon Quickwing solidifies. **
(1) GM: And again, and again.... and then the guards break the mold at her nod.... leaving an exquisite statue of Eldon.
(1) GM: From before the feathers.
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Break Enchantment ( level 5, "Frees subjects from enchantments, alterations, curses, and petrification" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 5 Spell ( level 5, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) GM: Caster level check?
(3) Elorin: [1d20+15] -> [14,15] = (29)
** (4) Eldon Quickwing steps out and bows to the king. **
(2) Kibin: Volia.
(1) GM: And Eldon is again a halfling.
(1) GM: Eldon - search or spot check?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Search Skill Check: [1d20+8] -> [15,8] = (23)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+0] -> [12,0] = (12)
(3) Elorin: (did the king's craftsmen take the opportunity to "improve" some aspect of Eldon? :P)
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, you find exactly one hair on your left big toe that is out of place. Otherwise, everything is exactly as it was. The hair almost seems deliberate....
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Hmm...Save for this hair on my big toe, all seems exactly as before.
(2) Kibin: And you actually remember the positioning of the hair on your body?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Oops - Forgot to adjust my skills. Bought a higher Int from the increase from 25 points to 32 points.)
(1) GM: (he has a very nice Int check....)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Doesn't everybody?
(1) GM: Listen checks?
(3) Elorin: (brb)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [19,18] = (37)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Can I spend those points after this session?)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+0] -> [1,0] = (1)
(1) GM: (sure)
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot is temporarily deaf. **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Thanks. Hmm...If I get a minute, could I add them this session?)
whispering to Kibin, you hear that whisper again: "Very Well. The Quarentine is lifted. Go forth and lay the ghost to rest."
(1) GM: Man on throne: Very Well. The Quarentine is lifted. Go forth and lay the ghost to rest.
(2) Kibin: Ah, good.
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [3,10] = (13)
(1) GM: The king looks away, and some more of those odd guards escort you out, and once again, the parade of petitioners continues.....
(1) GM: (Sure)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ok, thanks.)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Well...Searching for this villian seems an interesting task.
(2) Kibin: Yup. Now can we drop by the shop for a moment?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hey, you guys have a PC glow! Let's party! :D )
(2) Kibin: (Hehe.)
(1) GM: On the way out, a couple of the more well-dressed petitioners leave the line, and hand you a heavy bag.
(3) Elorin: Yes. Especially as he shields himself from divination spells.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (You = party?)
** (2) Kibin takes the bag and sees whats in it. **
(1) GM: Yep.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot examines the bag **
whispering to Kibin, Platinum. Shiney new coins. With a note - seems they had a pool going as to who could get the quarentine listed first. The coins are the reward.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Platinum. Shiney new coins. With a note - seems they had a pool going as to who could get the quarentine listed first. The coins are the reward.
(3) Elorin: Some nobles or other well-to-do folks wanting to leave expressing their thanks? Let's see how generous they were.
(2) Kibin: Ooo, shiney platinum coins.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Ah. This would be the betting pool.
(2) Kibin: Let's get this divided up, I guess?
(1) GM: You count [1d10*1000+1d10*100+1d10*10+1d10] -> [7240,7] = (7247) platinum coins.
** (2) Kibin is happy. **
(1) GM: At at 50/pound, that bag weighs in at [7247/50] -> 144
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: [7247/5] -> 1449
(1) GM: 144 pounds.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: [7247.0/5.0] -> 1449.4
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: That leaves 1449 platinum coins and 4 gold for each of us.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: [144.0/5] -> 28.8
(2) Kibin: Oh sure. Show off some more.
** (2) Kibin takes his share. **
(1) GM: As does Jason.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot takes 25 pounds worth. **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: And puts the rest of his share in the wagon.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: * OOC
(3) Elorin: (hey now, since when does the new guy get a share of what we get for things we did before he joined? :P. Then again, he was the test subject and it was only a minute or so before he "officially" joined)
(1) GM: Jason: He was kinda involved in lifting the quarentine, now wasn't he?
(3) Elorin: (that was OOC)
(2) Kibin: (Elorin, you don't make a very good favored soul. :P
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (OOC: Well, he risked life, limb and a familiar shape in the hands of people he didn't know)
(3) Elorin: (and, read the second sentence and note the ":P" between them)
(3) Elorin: [4472+1449] -> 5921
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah. Don't mind me.)
(2) Kibin: Well them... To the store?
(1) GM: Jason heads off to ye olde shoppe of majicke
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot follows **
(3) Elorin: I believe the King mentioned some sort of obligation to the court that you had, Eldon. What was it?
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, make something up, if you like, or be vauge, if you like
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (I dunno - Me and the GM arranged the whole thing in about thirty seconds)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ok)
(2) Kibin: (Smarting off to the king? :P)
(3) Elorin: (well, either start making up the details now or fill me in later when they're ready)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ok, I got no clue)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hmm...How about this one?)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: ('Saved his life on the field of battle'?)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Old, classic, works)
(1) GM: (Works.)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Overused, though)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: He saved my life on the field of battle.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Can always make up something interesting about the battle)
(2) Kibin: Interesting.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Still don't really have a history)
(3) Elorin: ("field of battle"? Sounds like he fought in an army, which doesn't sound like something a swashbuckler or duelist would do)
(2) Kibin: I wonder how fast word gets around in this city...
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Field of battle can also include small skirmishes)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Pretty much any place where two groups meet and fight, methinks)
(1) GM: As you watch, a few town criers leave the castle and head out, repeating the news of the quarentine lift over and over; a few messengers with scroll cases head off more quietly.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eldon could be fighting bandits, and then the king comes riding along with his guards, on a days outing...)
** (2) Kibin walks into the shop again. **
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot examines the shop, walks in, examines the inside of the shop... **
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Ah, you're back, I see. Your face, too.
(1) GM: The shop has many different things in display cases, available for viewing.
(3) Elorin: Have you heard the quarantine is over yet?
** (2) Kibin asks the shopkeeper, "Can you make those weapons now?" **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Would 'your face' be a reference to Eldons' retaining his average looks?)
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Hard to miss. Yep, what would you like?
(1) GM: (Nah, just a bad pun.)
(3) Elorin: I'd like to make use of your crafting portal.
(3) Elorin: Also, we found some unusual metal a little while back that I would like some arrows made with.
** (2) Kibin hmmmms. "Can I just take the ones you had off your hands for cheaper than the normal price? Seeing how you don't get many dragons here anyway..." **
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Standard fee, 100 gp.
** (3) Elorin presents one of the special iron bars **
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Interesting.....
** (2) Kibin wants to save money...() **
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Very interesting.... an odd metal to work with....
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Sorry, guild prices.
(3) Elorin: (I'm assuming these make something like uber-ghost touch weapons)
(2) Kibin: (I'd assume masterwork ghost touch weapons.)
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: How did you come by such metal?
(3) Elorin: We found it. There was a vault with walls made out of the stuff, and some bars just lying on the floor nearby.
** (2) Kibin hmmms. "How about just a basic enchantment then, slightly higher than what was on the ones over there?" **
(2) Kibin: (+2 in game terms.)
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Ah. Well, I can't make any promises, but I'll do what I can for you on the arrows...
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Can be done. They are at least rank at the moment, lesser rank can be added.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, and I have a few transactions I'd like to make...
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Of course.
(2) Kibin: (Least, lesser, normal, greater, greatest? Spiffy.)
(3) Elorin: Here's the rest of the bars. Judging from experience, they should work quite well against something like the ghost behind the mergings.
(1) GM: Jason and the shopkeeper negotiate for a little bit, and Kaylin moves a few things around.....
(2) Kibin: I also want a few upgrades to my items while I'm at it...
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (What does the shop look like?)
(1) GM: Solid granite walls, with an arched stone cieling. Quite fireproof, and very secure. The walls are lined with glass cabinets that have all sorts of odds and ends inside.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot examines the odds and ends. **
(3) Elorin: (argh, I'd like to upgrade both my cloak of resistance from +4 to +5 and my shirt of health from +4 to +6, but I'm 185 xp short even with the (presumably) 1000 xp for winning the RP vote last time)
** (2) Kibin negotiates with the shopkeeper for the upgrades. **
(2) Kibin: (Okay... Two +2 claw sheaths...
(2) Kibin: (Improve bracers of armor to +8, and ring of protection to +5.)
(2) Kibin: (How much would that be?)
(2) Kibin: (It's 16,000 for the weapons minus base cost.)
(2) Kibin: (28,000 for the ring...)
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: 16,600 gp for the pair.
(2) Kibin: (15,000 for the bracers.)
(2) Kibin: (Ouch. :P)
(3) Elorin: (only 18k for the ring if what you've already got is +4)
(1) GM: (8,300 per; 300 gp masterwork cost, 8,000 for a +2 weapon enhancement)
(2) Kibin: (Ooops.)
(2) Kibin: (Almost 50,000, then.)
(1) GM: Or did you purchase them earlier? In which case, they were +1, so it's only 6,000 per claw difference.
(2) Kibin: (49600 to be exact.)
(2) Kibin: (No, I didn't.)
(1) GM: Jason finishes up his transactions - he sells the shield, and hires an improvement on his amulet.
** (2) Kibin finishes it up too. And pays for it. **
(2) Kibin: (So... I go ahead and add the stuff?)
(1) GM: Yep.
(2) Kibin: (A whopping 36 AC now.)
(3) Elorin: (can I get a grace margin of 185 xp for crafting stuff (or you raise the reward from RP vote)?)
(2) Kibin: (You see the power of saving up your money. :)
(2) Kibin: (I vote for Elorin.)
(2) Kibin: (There's your 1,000 XP.)
(3) Elorin: (I've got 1155 xp over the levelup (counting the 1000 xp from RP vote for last session) but I need 1340 for the crafting I want to do)
(1) GM: (There will be a little bit of an XP reward for dealing with the quarentine; 1,000 XP per)
(2) Kibin: (Why do you people spend XP, anyway?)
(2) Kibin: (Ah yes. Because you remain caught up anyway. :P)
(3) Elorin: (because a 50% discount on gp prices for major magic items is valuable?)
(3) Elorin: (plus, if it's enough to take me down a level, I start earning it faster than everyone else to make up for it)
(2) Kibin (whispering): Would the sheaths work on any other creatures with claws?
whispering to Kibin, No, just small dragons.
(2) Kibin (whispering): Ah, okay.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (BRB)
(2) Kibin (whispering): So being a slashing machine will have to be only against non-ghosty people. :P
whispering to Kibin, Ghost Touch is a +1 enhancement for weapons....
(3) Elorin: (let's see, [(13500+20000)/2+100] -> 16850 gp spent)
(2) Kibin (whispering): Well. Yeah. :P
(2) Kibin (whispering): I can hit ghosts now, though.
whispering to Kibin, Half the time - if you can get through the AC....
(2) Kibin (whispering): Yes. Anyway...
** (2) Kibin waits for the penny pincher Elorin to hurry up. **
(1) GM: Everyone done with shopping/crafting?
(3) Elorin: (so, 40k left, what should I spend it on, if anything?)
(2) Kibin: (I guess so. Finding out what the gem does can wait.)
(1) GM: The shopkeeper comes back with half a bar and an odd look on his face: I can't mold these.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Back)
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot examines the odds and ends) **
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: When I heat them up to the point where they'd melt, they don't stay in the mold. They flow out of a fully enclosed area... my guess is they end up on the ethereal.
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: You'd just abot have to Fabricate them, which I can do....
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: For a price....
(2) Kibin: Or you could transmute it into a lesser metal?
(3) Elorin: How much?
(3) Elorin: What would be the point of that?
(2) Kibin: So that it could be molded?
(1) GM: [9*5*10] -> 450
(2) Kibin: And then the effect could be dispelled for it to go back to it's old material?
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Oh, about 450 gp per batch. Less expensive than a full set of enchanted arrows. I should be able to make about 50 with what you brought.
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: 50 arrows, that is; one batch.
whispering to Elorin, transmuting them wouldn't work; it's not the material, it's where it is.
(3) Elorin: That's reasonable
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Great; got the cash?
** (3) Elorin gets out 45 platinum pieces **
(1) GM: The shopkeeper takes them, then casts his spell....
(1) GM: And the bars of odd iron turn into fifty odd iron-tipped masterwork arrows, after a bit of time.
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Just make sure to keep them away from any castings of Break Enchantment.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (And sparkles. Gotta have sparkles)
(1) GM: Yes, lots of sparkles as the magic of the spell warps and reshapes and grinds away at the iron.
(3) Elorin: Thank you.
(2) Kibin: (Good thing items people are carrying aren't stoned along wtih them.)
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Thanks for the buisiness.
(1) GM: (technically, they are....)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Generally, transmute spells put items that aren't available in the new form on 'hold')
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Merge into the new form, I think)
(3) Elorin: (Flesh to Stone: " The subject, along with all its carried gear, turns into a mindless, inert statue.")
(2) Kibin: (Oh.)
(1) GM: Jason: So, where next?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: How does this ghost operate?
** (2) Kibin hops into the carriage a minute, and comes out a silver dragon. **
(3) Elorin: I'd like a few more regular arrows, too. It's been a little while since I've restocked on those.
(3) Elorin: Two quiverfuls should do.
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Forty? Can do. regular or masterwork?
(3) Elorin: Regular
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot stores most of his platinum in the wagon, keeping only 100 with him. **
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Great... two gp. (sigh)
(3) Elorin: (I really don't see much point to masterwork arrows for almost anyone)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: I could do with some pointy suprises myself. Three, goodman.
(1) GM: (other than enchanting for such things as Bane, without costing the big bucks for your bow, and without commiting to keep that particular bow enchantement?)
(3) Elorin: (the bonus doesn't stack with anything, not even with masterwork on the bow which is cheap enough to get at extremely low levels and is permanent)
(3) Elorin: (the only reason is for enchanting them)
** (2) Kibin goes back to the party which inexplicably went back to the shop. **
(3) Elorin: (which is a bit expensive for non-reusable stuff)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Could someone enchant a bow with say flaming, then enchant a bow with shock, then have flaming, shocking arrows?)
(3) Elorin: (yes)
(1) GM: Shopkeeper: Three sets of arrows? Sure. What variety?
(3) Elorin: (er, if those specials are on different bows, then no. On the same bow, yes. If one of them is on the arrows, then yes as long as your supply of those arrows lasts)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Doesn't seem to be any discount for ammunition)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hmm...2,000 for 20 Seeking arrows, the rest regular?)
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot places the order. **
** (2) Kibin looks around at the magic items while he waits **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Assuming it works)
(1) GM: (on a per-arrow basis, it's 6 gp for the masterwork quality, and 1/50th of the enchantment price for the arrow - so a +1 bane (cheese) arrow would cost roughtly 166 gp)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (2,300 for fifty seeking, then.)
(2) Kibin: (Why would you want a cheesebane weapon?)
(1) GM: The listed enchantment prices are the cost for 50; and any weapon must have at least a +1 enhancement to have a special ability on it; that's +2 equivalent, for 4,350 for 50 of them.
(3) Elorin: (special materials are 2 gp for 20 cold iron, 3 for 20 alchemical silver, and 61 for 20 adamantine IIRC)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (([Bad dice format] - [(2000.0/50)+6)*50]
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (([Bad dice format] - [(2000.0/50.0)+6.0)*50.0]
(1) GM: (It was just for an example)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (I mean, twenty seeking)
(3) Elorin: (you have a mismatched parenthesis there)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Or...Let me check my math)
** (2) Kibin wonders if bane weapons look any different from regular weapons. **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: [((2000.0/20.0)+6.0)*20.0] -> 2120.0
(1) GM: Only if so designed.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (There - 212gp)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Er...Brain...)
** (2) Kibin wonders how common dragonbane weapons are, then. **
(1) GM: [8350/50] -> 167 per +1 seeking arrow.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot hands over 2122gp **
(1) GM: 20 of them: [167*20] -> 3340
(3) Elorin: ([8300*20.0/50] -> 3320.0 for 20)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (No - Just normal seeking arrows. The bow will add a +1 bonus)
(1) GM: [2122.00/167.00] -> 12.7065868263
(3) Elorin: (you can't get a special without first having +1)
(1) GM: It's a requirement for enchanting them, not for using them.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot instead hands over 334 platinum coins and 2 gp **
(1) GM: And gets his 20 +1 Seeking arrows.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (2 gp for two regular quivers)
(1) GM: Arrows come with regular quivers.
(1) GM: Just as crossbow bolts come with cases.
** (2) Kibin says, "Done shopping yet?" **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Quivers of regular arrows)
(1) GM: Ah, okay.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Yes, quite finished.
(2) Kibin: Good. Now what?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: How does the ghost usually operate?
(3) Elorin: Scrying didn't work before, but let's try something else... (yes, OOC I know Mind Blank stops this, but I don't know that's what he's using IC)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Discern Location ( level 8, "Reveals exact location of creature or object." )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 8 Spell ( level 8, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(2) Kibin: (Whoa. Deja vu.)
(1) GM: Jason: Well, he's dead at the moment, so he won't be back for a time....
** (2) Kibin says, "Random people, random things, it's kind of unpredictable." **
** (2) Kibin grins. "Of course, he can't do much to me in the way of shapeshifting." **
whispering to Elorin, Moving; the abyss, plane # 666789241, pit 66627
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: What are his speech patterns?
(2) Kibin: (Unless the merging thingie.)
(2) Kibin: (Which might be kind of difficult.)
(2) Kibin: Speech patterns?
(1) GM: Jason: How does he talk; is he noble born, street born, that kind of thing.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Exactly. Are there any words he likes to use a lot?
(3) Elorin (whispering): was that just a joke or are you house ruling that ghosts go to the abyss when they're waiting to revive?
(2) Kibin: Well I kind of figured that out. I wondered what it had to do with anything...
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: It could help to identify him, should we ever draw close.
whispering to Elorin, he died, and went to the appropriet location for his eternal reward ... and left. That's where he is right at this moment. It takes him some time to get back.
** (2) Kibin says, "It's pretty obvious when he starts casting." **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Yes, well, then it's a little too late.
(2) Kibin: He doesn't like to kill us, he likes to turn us into stone.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: And if we know his work habits, it could help identify the part of the city he may be in.
(2) Kibin: We could ask around, I guess... Seeing what the cases have been so far.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Well, far be it from me to criticize your hobbies, but...
whispering to Elorin, nothing's stated as to where a creature that has no body counts as being while dead, and nothing really states what happens when you Discern Location a critter in such a state. Ruling, rather than house-rule. Scrying would work similarly.
(3) Elorin: The real problem is he's a ghost, so killing him isn't permanent
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Would a maze spell be effective?)
(3) Elorin (whispering): So what would happen if we went there and tried to kill him there? Or is that the kind of thing only mega-epic level characters would survive?
(2) Kibin: But?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Why would you wish to wait around to be turned to stone?
whispering to Elorin, He'd be pushed back to his eternal reward again, and be down for 2d4 days. Souls don't go away.
(2) Kibin: How could we stop us from being ambushed in the night by a ghost that we can't see?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: And how would he cast spells from the etherial plane, save force effects?
(2) Kibin: Being invisible does not nessecary mean being on the etherial plane...
(1) GM: Jason: Force effects don't work purely from the ethereal. I should know.... anyway, he does the same thing I do - he manifests, halfway on the material, and halfway on the etherieal. He also seems to be able to make himself invisible when he likes.....
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: True.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (I was working off OOC knowledge - He likes possesing people - Sorry)
(3) Elorin: As I'm sure Jason can attest, the only way to permanently get rid of a ghost is to find out why he's not moving on and deal with it.
(2) Kibin: Yes. He has a spell that can do it.
(3) Elorin: So our efforts should focus on finding out this ghost's reason for staying.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: So - Again I ask, what do you know about him?
(1) GM: Jason: Yeah; we do need to find out why he's not moving on. Did he fire off any unusual spells or such?
(2) Kibin: He likes turning people into pillows. He has a humorous side...
(3) Elorin: Gnome, looks like he was crushed by a something like a brick wall falling on him, and is obsessed with research into certain kinds of transmutation
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Which suggests that he cannot change his form and wishes to.
(2) Kibin: The obvious solution is that he wishes for his image to be restored to his proper self before moving on. He probally thought of himself as having great physical beauty.
(1) GM: (By the way - Jason's question was a hint)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Perhaps he is trying to research a version of that procedure that will ultimatly work on an incorporeal undead?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: What else has he done that was repeated or of a curious nature?
(2) Kibin: About the unusual spells... He does like flesh to stone.
(3) Elorin: Let's see, spells we've seen him cast or know he has cast...
(2) Kibin: A lot.
(3) Elorin: Flesh to Stone
(3) Elorin: Stone to Mud
(3) Elorin: Stone to Flesh or Break Enchantment
(3) Elorin: Resilient Sphere
(3) Elorin: Shield
(3) Elorin: Contingency
(3) Elorin: Teleport
(3) Elorin: Invisibility
(2) Kibin: He really likes that contingency. Even though he can't die.
(1) GM: Elorin - make an Int check.
(3) Elorin: Int check: [1d20+0] -> [8,0] = (8)
(2) Kibin: (What, no int check for me?)
(3) Elorin: Enervation
(1) GM: You didn't make the spellcraft check when it came up.
(3) Elorin: (for which one?)
(1) GM: You didn't even make DC 10.
(1) GM: Kaylin was around for that fight, though....
(1) GM: Int check: [1d20+8] -> [10,8] = (18)
(3) Elorin: (So, what about Kaylin?)
(2) Kibin: (I do know what all those spells do, you know...)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (If they describe it to Eldon, could he make an Int check?)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Well, he did make a line of lightning catch fire... which probably means he trained at the Archmage's tower for a time.
(2) Kibin: Really?
(2) Kibin: Oh.
(2) Kibin: Wait.
(3) Elorin: (or he took the Energy Substitution feat)
(2) Kibin: (Duh. There's no line of fires. x.x)
(3) Elorin: Hmm, the tower did get knocked to pieces not too long ago.
(2) Kibin: So, I guess we go back to the destroyed archmage's tower?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: There could be clues there.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (How long of a journey would it be?)
(2) Kibin: (On foot? About a week.)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Not long, just a day or so for me to prepare properly....
(3) Elorin: (A day or two by Wind Walk. Instantly by Teleport)
(2) Kibin: (For us? 6 seconds.)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Then perhaps we should interview those who have been changed and search the city whilst you prepare.
(2) Kibin: Yes, we should.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Although I mislike splitting our forces.
(2) Kibin: It shouldn't take long.
(2) Kibin: We do have all day, after all.\
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: ...Indeed.
(1) GM: back in a few minutes; prepareing sandwitches for lunch.
(2) Kibin: (While he does that, I'll go fix myself supper.)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (I'll check Crossing Lost)
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot invents binary and counts in it. **
(2) Kibin: (Narf, you're scaring me.)
(1) GM: Back.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (26 Int. Kaylin could do that, too)
(1) GM: Tie for top INT....
(3) Elorin: (heh, you get as much AC from your intelligence as you would from full plate)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (He's Batman!)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Well, not really. Batman probably has 30 Int)
(2) Kibin: (Back.)
(2) Kibin: (We're talking to the people changed, I guess.)
(1) GM: Gather information rolls?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+0] -> [9,0] = (9)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+1] -> [16,1] = (17)
(2) Kibin: (Ha. I get a bonus now.)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Could I use Diplomacy?)
(2) Kibin: (That alters their diposition towards you.)
(1) GM: That's for changing people's attitudes; not for finding out who knows what.
(3) Elorin: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+4] -> [16,4] = (20)
(2) Kibin: (And you should get a +2 synergy bonus for local knowledge.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, you find yourself spending money buying people who don't know anything drinks.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (I could change peoples attitudes to tell me lots of stuff)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot (whispering): How much?
(2) Kibin: (I need an IC reason for my local knowledge. Hmmm.)
whispering to Kibin, You find a girl who was mereged with her pet cat. She's really good at finding mice....
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Or use Sense Motive to tell if they know anything)
(2) Kibin (whispering): Has all the people I've seen been merged with pets or animals?
whispering to Elorin, you find out about a girl who was merged with her pet cat, and that one of the local milkmaids is now selling milk she makes rather personally.
(2) Kibin (whispering): I'm assuming that I'm finding more that one person. :P
whispering to Kibin, He was only working for a few days; there's lots of false rumors about things that happened, but only a handful of actual cases. You found exactly one real incident.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ping?)
(2) Kibin (whispering): Ah, okay.
** (2) Kibin comes back to the wagon, and waits for everyone to come back. He tries finding something interesting to read while he's waiting. **
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Doesn't work; maybe helps you weed out the ones that don't know anything, but doesn't tell you who does; you go bouncing around town following leads where the person you did talk to was reasonably sure that this other person knew an actual case....
(3) Elorin: Ok, I found two pairs of victims. One girl merged with her pet cat, and a milkmaid with the cow.
(2) Kibin (whispering): And staying away from the books with symbols of death. Of course.
(2) Kibin: Hmmmph. You found more than me.
(2) Kibin: Anyway, there's a pattern. They seem to only be merged with animals for some reason...
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: I regret to say that I found out nothing relevant.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: ...That is odd...
(1) GM: Time: Kibin: [1d4+1] -> [3,1] = (4); Elorin: [1d4+1] -> [3,1] = (4); Eldon: [1d4+1] -> [1,1] = (2)
(2) Kibin: The horse, cat, and cow.
(1) GM: Eldon Quickfoot.....
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Perhaps he is trying to restore someone who was turned into an animal? But there are spells for that.
(2) Kibin: Yup.
(2) Kibin: Which is why I'm not barking up a tree right now chasing squirrels.
** (1) GM takes a sip of milk. **
(2) Kibin: (Why did we need to know that?)
(3) Elorin: Maybe it has something to do with his familiar?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Could not a pre-existing spell cover that, as well?
(1) GM: Jason: Familiar....
(1) GM: Jason runs off to the magic shop.....
(2) Kibin: Yes, it could. Kaylin has a spell for that.
(1) GM: ... and a while later, comes back, with a bird following.
(2) Kibin: I thought your familar died?
(2) Kibin: (Familiar*)
(3) Elorin: (did Jason just spend a year in the crafting portal?)
(1) GM: Jason: Did. But a year passed through that portal, and I finished mourning.
(2) Kibin: (Does Jason really care?)
(2) Kibin: (Me and Jason is immortal. Time doesn't matter.)
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot nods **
(3) Elorin: So, did you come up with any conclusions in the year you had to think about it in there?
(2) Kibin: Time doesn't really matter when you won't die of old age.
(1) GM: Jason: Yes. Winddancer is a part of me, and, given time, is as immortal as I am.
(1) GM: Jason's hawk sqwaks.
(2) Kibin: So that's the same familiar that died?
(2) Kibin: Two squawks for yes, please.
(1) GM: Jason: The same familiar, yes; the same hawk, no. Her first body was destroyed, and the essenses I placed in her to maker her my familiar are the sames ones which I've placed in this new body.
(1) GM: Hawk: Squak Squak!
(2) Kibin: Interesting.
(1) GM: Jason: So, find out anything of interest while I was away?
(2) Kibin: So I guess Winddancer is as hard to be killed finnally as yourself.
(2) Kibin: He seems to be merging people with animals here.
(1) GM: Jason: With luck, she may even outlive me.
(2) Kibin: She?
(1) GM: Jason: Hardly matters whether the Hawk near me lays eggs or fathers them, does it? The shell is just an animal's.
(2) Kibin: Probally not...
(2) Kibin: Anyway, we were going to teleport back over to the archmages tower.
(2) Kibin: As I think you know.
(2) Kibin: Rest for the day?
(1) GM: Jason: Probably a good idea. Think that hotel is still on the King's bill?
(2) Kibin: We can go see.
(2) Kibin: I probally needed that bath. A little too hot, though.
(1) GM: Jason: You could have waited for it to cool in the morning, you know....
(2) Kibin: Yeah.
(2) Kibin: Hmmm.
(3) Elorin: Or ask Kaylin to freeze it with a cone of cold for you
(2) Kibin: Or freeze it myself...
(3) Elorin: Of course, that much cold might shatter the tub...
(1) GM: Checking the Inn?
(2) Kibin: Let's go see if the hotel is on the kings bill.
(2) Kibin: (You betcha. Why would a rogue turn down free luxirious lodging?)
(1) GM: At the door, you're stopped by a polite young man in red livery.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (...Because he could be kept track of?)
(2) Kibin: (Hmmm. :P)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (There's a speech pattern right there: '...' )
(1) GM: Young man: I'm sorry; you're no longer on the king's guest list. If you wish, you can rent a stay, at 3,000 crowns per night per person.
(1) GM: Young man: Plus the cost of food.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Which we *Could* afford...)
(2) Kibin: (Which I won't? :P)
(3) Elorin: While such luxury is nice, I'd rather spend such sums on more useful things.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot looks wistfully at the inn, then agrees. **
(3) Elorin: Besides, I can provide food just as good myself.
(1) GM: Jason: Ah, yes; from what I can tell, you do make wonderful meals.
(1) GM: So... spending the night where? Ye Old Mobile Wagon?
(1) GM: Ye Olde Horseless Carriage?
(1) GM: Ye Olde Scummy lodgings on wrong side of town?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ye Olde 300gp inn?)
(3) Elorin: Ye Olde Mobile Wagon Newly Equipped With Mattresses?
(1) GM: (You mean the one Kaylin bought?)
(2) Kibin: (How about Ye Old Horseless Carriage)
(1) GM: (That one got turned back.....)
(3) Elorin: (I was thinking we could go buy some more and maybe even set up beds in there)
(1) GM: Ah. that works. Bedding isn't too expensive.
(1) GM: List price of a silver piece.
(1) GM: For a bedroll.
(1) GM: (winter blanket is 5 sp)
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot lays out his bedroll, puts on his winter blanket and goes to sleep. **
(3) Elorin: (Maybe a Polymorph Any Object to add bunk beds againt the walls or something)
** (2) Kibin sleeps in the nice comfy carriage. **
(1) GM: Rather than just sleeping on the floor?
(1) GM: Sure; Kaylin takes care of it before bed.
(1) GM: The next morning, she prepares a Greater Teleport.
(3) Elorin: (Yes. Then again, I am a follower of a nature deity, but it is something Kaylin would do, I'm sure)
(1) GM: Anyone keeping watch?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Jason?)
(1) GM: Okay.
(1) GM: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+13] -> [16,13] = (29)
(1) GM: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+13] -> [1,13] = (14)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Although Eldon can sub for when Jason needs to study spells)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Although Eldon doesn't have much for 'Notice Stuff')
(2) Kibin: (Although Jason doesn't need to study spells...)
(1) GM: [1d20+12] -> [18,12] = (30), [1d20+19] -> [12,19] = (31)
(1) GM: Ah, forgot Alertness from Winddancer....
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Meditate or whatever)
(2) Kibin: (Although Jason doesn't need to meditate for spells...)
(1) GM: In the middle of the night, you hear a brief scuffle.....
(1) GM: [1d20+4] -> [20,4] = (24)
(1) GM: And jason shouts: Quick! She's getting away!
(1) GM: Roll vs. Initiative.
(3) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [17,6] = (23)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [4,4] = (8)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+6] -> [11,6] = (17)
(1) GM: [1d20+6] -> [3,6] = (9)
(1) GM: Kibin?
(2) Kibin: (Oh, sorry.\)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+2] -> [5,2] = (7)
(1) GM: Jason does, however, need 8 hours and 15 minutes without interruption to ready his spell slots....
(2) Kibin: (She???)
(1) GM: Elorin, Eldon, Running girl, Jason, Kibin.
(1) GM: Elorin, as you jump up, you see a figure running quickly from the camp, with something in hand.
(1) GM: Actions?
** (3) Elorin starts moving after her and shouts "Halt!" **
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Greater Command ( level 5, "As command, but affects one subject/level" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 5 Spell ( level 5, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: (DC 23)
(1) GM: Will: [1d20+4] -> [3,4] = (7)
(2) Kibin: (Wow. :P)
** (3) Elorin thinks the thief is caught :P **
(1) GM: Oh, and not that it matters much, but what's your DC without your missing cloak?
(1) GM: Given command?
(2) Kibin: (It was Halt.)
(1) GM: Ah, okay.
(1) GM: Eldon?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (You know what one good thing about Swashbucklers is? No worries about ACP.)
(2) Kibin: (About ACP?)_
(3) Elorin: (er, I without the cloak I don't have the charisma required for 5th level spells)
(3) Elorin: (make that...)
(2) Kibin: (Oh. Armor check penalty.)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Command ( level 1, "One subject obeys selected command for 1 round" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 1 Spell ( level 1, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: (DC is still way higher than 7, though)
(1) GM: And the DC for that? True, high enough.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot catches up to her and looks at what she is carrying. **
(1) GM: Eldon?
(1) GM: Elorin's cloak.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Boots of Striding and Springing allow him to get in front of her)
(1) GM: Yep. Still have a standard action available.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: I ask that you give that back, madam.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (And he has Quick Draw)
(2) Kibin: (And dragons don't have to worry about drawing weapons. :P)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hold standard action to see what she does)
(1) GM: Anyone with a BAB of 1 or higher can draw a weapon as part of a move action....
(3) Elorin: (that cloak is worth 73500 gp!)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (/me lights a match underneath Kibins toeses)
(2) Kibin: (/me takes to the air.)
(1) GM: The girl stops running, and eyes Eldon warily, very worried that she's not running....
(1) GM: Jason tries picking her up again....
(1) GM: Will: [1d20+4] -> [10,4] = (14)
(1) GM: And this time, gets her feet off the ground.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: The cloak belongs to that man over there *Pointing at Elorin* and I beleive he wants his property back.
(3) Elorin: Yes I do. I spent quite a bit of effort making it.
** (2) Kibin flies over to the group, going to the other side of the girl and facing the wagon. And waits to see what she's going to do too. **
(2) Kibin: (Hold action.)
(2) Kibin: (Or, if I wanted to be fancy, I could just hover in midair. But I don't feel like hovering.)
(1) GM: Elorin?
(3) Elorin: (seeing as Jason is preventing her from running now...)
** (3) Elorin walks over and grabs his cloak **
(3) Elorin: Give that back
(1) GM: Disarm check?
(1) GM: (She's not Helpless..... just kinda immobile....)
(3) Elorin: (that's what, melee attack roll?)
(3) Elorin: [1d20+12+2+6+1] -> [1,12,2,6,1] = (22)
(1) GM: Well, technically, she gets her AoO with the dagger in her other hand first.....
(1) GM: [1d20+9] -> [12,9] = (21)
(1) GM: AC?
** (2) Kibin could just paralyze her and make this a whole lot easier. Hmmm. **
(3) Elorin: (AC 35)
(3) Elorin: (minus 7 because I wouldn't have my shield up)
(1) GM: Doesn't matter; you rolled a one, and couldn't knock it from her hand, as you didn't connect with anything.
(2) Kibin: (Can I use my breath weapon to paralyze her now?)
(1) GM: If you like.
(1) GM: Carful, though, from where you're standing, Elorin's also in range.
(1) GM: And lined up.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (I think freezing her to death might be a little extreme)
** (2) Kibin uses his breath weapon to try and paralyze the girl. No damage, but just to paralyze her. **
(2) Kibin: (Well. He has good saves. :P
(1) GM: [1d20+4] -> [5,4] = (9)
(1) GM: Well, that's a failure - she stops moving.
(2) Kibin: [1d6+1] -> [1,1] = (2)
(1) GM: Elorin?
(2) Kibin: (She's paralzed for 12 seconds.)
(3) Elorin: (yes, but that cloak accounts for 5 of my save bonus)
(3) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+18] -> [19,18] = (37)
(3) Elorin: (32 still makes it, though)
(2) Kibin: Okay, it should be easier now.
(3) Elorin: (oh yeah, I have that ring of paralysis immunity now)
(1) GM: Eldon - your turn has come up again.
(2) Kibin: (...Stacking effects on your items is illegal I thought.)
(3) Elorin: (so I didn't need to save)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Uh, I gotta go do something for a while. NPC Eldon, ok?)
(1) GM: (Legal, bur pricy....)
(3) Elorin: (extra stuff just costs 50% extra for all but the most expensive item)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eldon is in favor of Catch and Release, for now)
(1) GM: +50% to the second enchantment; if it's slotted properly.
(3) Elorin: (also, I took off my ring of protection to open up a slot for it)
(1) GM: Eldon delays....
(2) Kibin: (Being a dragon has it's convienences. :P)
(1) GM: Girl's paralized.
(3) Elorin: (and floating in midair)
(1) GM: Jason maintains the lift....
(1) GM: And it's Elorin's turn again.
(2) Kibin: (Can I reach her hand to remove the dagger?)
(1) GM: You're in dragon form, right? Easily.
(1) GM: Flight.
(2) Kibin: (Well, without flight. :P)
** (3) Elorin takes the cloak and dagger **
(1) GM: No, not without - too short.
(1) GM: This time around, she's helpless, and can't fight it.
(2) Kibin: Jason, I think you can put her down now.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Although he would want to make sure she's not stolen anything else)
(1) GM: Kibin - your turn.
** (2) Kibin says, "I don't think she's much of a threat to us now." **
(2) Kibin: (Hold. For... something.)
(3) Elorin: (low level thief trying for a big break and failed miserably)
(1) GM: Eldon continues to delay.
(2) Kibin: (We prefer to be called rogues...)
(1) GM: Girl still paralized and floating....
(3) Elorin: (but we caught her actively trying to steal something, so she's definitely a thief)
(2) Kibin: (I can't search her very well. Especially while floating.)
(2) Kibin: Maybe you should check to see if she stole anything else?
(1) GM: Jason maintains the whole "off the ground" thing for now....
(3) Elorin: Pretty much all of our really valuable stuff is magical, so...
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Detect Magic ( level 0, "Detects spells and magic items within 60 ft." )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 0 Spell ( level 0, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) GM: Round 1: You detect the presence of magic.
(1) GM: Kibin?
** (3) Elorin puts on the cloak, btw **
(2) Kibin: (I really need to keep the line of effect. :P)
(2) Kibin: (Why are we still in combat time? There's nothing to do.)
(1) GM: Delay, then?
(2) Kibin: (Yes...)
(1) GM: Eldon continues to delay....
(1) GM: By the way - did you roll for time till next breath?
(3) Elorin: (your paralyzation only lasts a few rounds, and she may try to escape when it wears off)
(2) Kibin: (She should be unparalyzed now.)
(3) Elorin: (but not released by Jason yet)
(2) Kibin: (Comeon. What can a lowlevel rogue do to a level 15 rogue?One with a ground speed of 40 feet and flying speed of 100...)
(1) GM: The girl starts to go for something in her boot, but then thinks better of it.
(1) GM: Jason maintains the floating.
(2) Kibin: (Is the boot within reach? :P)
(1) GM: Elorin - round 2: there's lots of auras around; most powerful being "Strong", but several of the party members are also in your field of view, so.....
(1) GM: Yes, it is.
(2) Kibin: (Then I take my turn before elorin, to see what's in the boot she was reaching for.)
(1) GM: Spot check?
(2) Kibin: [1d20+13] -> [11,13] = (24)
(1) GM: [1d20+6] -> [1,6] = (7)
whispering to Kibin, dagger.
(2) Kibin (whispering): Where'd she hide it?
whispering to Kibin, her boot, of course.
** (2) Kibin takes the dagger out of the boot. **
(1) GM: Eldon continues to delay....
(1) GM: girl remains floating.
(1) GM: Jason maintains the float.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(1) GM: Kibin?
(2) Kibin: (Uh...)
(2) Kibin: (Nothing?)
(1) GM: Elorin?
(2) Kibin: (Elorins the tall one. :P)
(1) GM: Round three: There's still a moderate aura on her; spellcraft check?
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [16,19] = (35)
whispering to Elorin, Transmutation aura.
whispering to Elorin, moderate transmutation.
(1) GM: Eldon continues to delay....
(1) GM: girl's still off the ground....
(1) GM: Jason maintains that...
(1) GM: Jason: Do what you're going to do already! I can't keep this up forever.
(3) Elorin: ("The strength and location of each aura." Do I get more precise than the 5 ft square?)
(2) Kibin: I'm not very tall, as you've noticed.
(1) GM: Nope.
(1) GM: Not with just Detect magic, anyway.
(1) GM: She is, however, dressed in a lot of leather - leather armor, leather gloves, leather boots, and a leather hairband.
(1) GM: Kibin's turn.
(2) Kibin: Do you want me to paralyze her again?
(3) Elorin: She's still got something on her, moderately powerful, but I can't tell what or exactly where and I'm not exactly the best at searching.
(2) Kibin: So Jason can let her down so I can reach?
(1) GM: Jason: Just a moment... (when his turn comes up, he can)
(2) Kibin: (He can what? Paralyze?)
(3) Elorin: What else did you take from us?
(1) GM: (let her down)
(1) GM: Girl: Just the cloak. Gets cold in winter.
(2) Kibin: (Ah.)
(1) GM: taking an action? Delyaing?
(2) Kibin: (Delaying... It's easy to catch up with her. :P)
(2) Kibin: (Is she bluffing?)
(1) GM: Sense motive?
(2) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [5,11] = (16)
(3) Elorin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+8] -> [7,8] = (15)
(1) GM: [1d20+14] -> [17,14] = (31)
(2) Kibin: (Holy. O.o)
(3) Elorin: (and Eldon?)
(1) GM: She seems to be telling the truth.
** (2) Kibin hmmms. "What else that's magical do you have on you?" **
(1) GM: [1d20+19] -> [15,19] = (34)
(1) GM: Eldon: She seems to be telling the truth.
(1) GM: Elorin? Your turn.
(2) Kibin: (Is any of us missing any items that I can see?)
(3) Elorin: I suppose it's possible you got whatever magic item I still detect on you from somewhere else, but I think we'd better check to make sure.
(1) GM: Spot check?
(3) Elorin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [3,10] = (13)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+13] -> [19,13] = (32)
whispering to Elorin, you don't spot anything missing.
whispering to Kibin, you don't spot anything missing.
(1) GM: Eldon continues to delay....
(1) GM: Girl's still in the air... but she seems ready to move....
(1) GM: Jason carefully sets her down.... on her back.
(2) Kibin: At least we got the cloak back.
(1) GM: Surrounded by hostiles, the girl decides it's a bad idea to make any sudden moves.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(2) Kibin: (I'm not hostile! *big toothy grin*)
(3) Elorin: Is anyone going to search her, or should I get Kaylin to double check what she's got?
(2) Kibin: (I'd see if I can find anything else of ours on her.)
(3) Elorin: (I think Analyze Dweomer is on her standard list)
(1) GM: Search check?
(2) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [9,19] = (28)
Kaylin casts Analyze Dweomer ( level 6, "Reveals magical aspects of subject." )
Kaylin can cast Analyze Dweomer 0 more times
whispering to Kibin, you don't find anything on her that looks like it used to belong to the party, but you do find two serviceable daggers, and 500 gp.
** (2) Kibin asks, "Why didn't you just buy a cloak with the money you have here?" **
(1) GM: Girl: His cloak looked really, really soft....
(1) GM: Girl: And I always wanted to be more attractive....
(1) GM: Skip combat time for now...
(2) Kibin: And couldn't you just buy a soft cloak with the money here?
(1) GM: Girl: Not that soft.
(1) GM: After a bit of time, Kaylin says "Some gauntlets of Dexterity, but that's about it, now. Oh, and that dagger you took from her? It's enchanted a little."
(2) Kibin: Hmmm. I don't think she knew what the value of that cloak was...
** (2) Kibin briefly looks down to see if he still has his gloves of dexterity... **
(1) GM: In dragon from, you don't wear them; they seem to be packed away as normal.
(2) Kibin: (I have to wear them in dragon form. I specifically got modifications to them to be used as a dragon. :P)
(1) GM: Ah, okay.
(2) Kibin: (Remember the smith?)
(3) Elorin: (I assume I still have my gloves?)
(1) GM: you're still wearing them.
(2) Kibin: (So I still have my gloves of dexterity. Good.)
(4) NPC Eldon Quickfoot: (Back)
** (2) Kibin says, "Anything else to do?" **
(3) Elorin: All right, it looks like the cloak really is all you took, but you still tried to steal from us.
(2) Kibin: I'm pretty sure she didn't know the value of the cloak.
(3) Elorin: Can you give us a good reason not to turn you in to the authorities?
(1) GM: Sense motive check?
(3) Elorin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+8] -> [11,8] = (19)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [6,11] = (17)
(1) GM: [1d20+14] -> [17,14] = (31)
(3) Elorin: (Eldon?)
(2) Kibin: (I wonder how powerful of a character I could make if I actually powergamed.)
(4) NPC Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [6,19] = (25)
(1) GM: Girl: No, I'm afraid I can't give you one.
(2) Kibin: (Is Elorin chaotic good?)
(1) GM: Supposed to be; although the "authorities first" response isn't particularly chaotic (although not very opposed).
(1) GM: Jason: We could take her with us, and drop her off away from anyone she could later steal from.
(2) Kibin: You mean at the archmage tower?
(3) Elorin: (yes, I'm chaotic good, but that doesn't mean I think stealing should go without punishment unless it is done for a good reason)
(1) GM: Jason: So we'd have to get her some winter clothing....
(2) Kibin: And what about food?
(1) GM: (that's not the part that's slightly opposed - it's thinking of the authorities as the first place to go for justice)
(3) Elorin: (and I would prefer not having to handle the punishment myself, so handing her over to the cops is just the easy and most obvious thing to do)
(1) GM: Girl: Oh, just take me to the nearest pighouse. There's coppers a plenty who'll take me off your hands.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot (whispering): Would Eldon know the punishment for theft in this city?
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Just and fair, as are the rest of the laws. Usually involves repayment for triple value; forced labor if funds aren't available.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [18,19] = (37)
(1) GM: [1d20+14] -> [13,14] = (27)
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, you aren't sure why, but she'd much prefer being taken to the local authorities.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: I recall an old tale...'Please don't throw me into that briar patch...'
(2) Kibin: I don't think I remember that one.
(1) GM: Jason: That IS an old tale.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Ah...She seems a little too eager to meet the authorities.
(2) Kibin: Well, are we going to do something with her?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Perhaps someone on the inside?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [7,19] = (26)
(3) Elorin: Ah, corrupt jailers.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Low roll...)
(1) GM: [1d20+14] -> [3,14] = (17)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Or fishing for a reaction)
(1) GM: Lower roll.
(1) GM: Girl: Course not. Police around here are all honest.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, A different reason.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: No? Well, that's good to hear.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Or perhaps she simply hasn't honed her wilderness skills...
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [10,19] = (29)
(1) GM: [1d20+14] -> [1,14] = (15)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eldon is curious)
(2) Kibin: I really need to improve a few of my rogue skills...
(1) GM: Girl: I can take a forest well enough.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (How long do you think it would be worth it to ask?)
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Also, not the reason.
(2) Kibin: (So what exactly is the law around here for stealing?)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eldon is just poking around, now that he knows she doesn't have friends on the inside)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ask IC - Can't say, OOC)
(2) Kibin: (No. This isn't me asking you. :P)
(1) GM: Kibin - Knoweledge(Local)?
(2) Kibin: [1d20+5] -> [9,5] = (14)
whispering to Kibin, Triple repayment for stolen goods; forced labor if funds aren't available.
(2) Kibin: (Sucky roll, but the consequences for stealing should be pretty common knowledge. :P)
** (2) Kibin hmmms. "How much would that cloak be, Elorin?" **
(2) Kibin (whispering): Forced labor until they repay the debt?
whispering to Kibin, Yep.
(2) Kibin (whispering): You mean labor for life until someone is nice enough to pay bail? :P
whispering to Kibin, Law focuses on repairing damages more than punishing the guilty. Pretty much.
(3) Elorin: Oh, I'd have to pay a bit over 70000 gp to buy one just like it at standard price.
(2) Kibin (whispering): Ah. The standard throw people in jail for being in debt.
(1) GM: The girl pales a little bit.
(2) Kibin: Ah. So if we were to go by the local laws, she would have to repay us... 210,000 gold pieces...
whispering to Kibin, Puts them to work, earning money; convicict labor....
** (2) Kibin checks the math over in his head. Hmmm. **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: That might be a little bit much, you know.
whispering to Kibin, Well, a significant portion of that goes towards funding police work; as you already have the cloak back, you'd end up gaining roughly 35,000 gp out of the deal.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eldon has grabbed the 'Good Cop' role)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Since Kibin seems to have the 'Bad Cop' role)
(2) Kibin: (Oh be quiet. I'm just thinking here.)
(3) Elorin: Somehow I doubt she can actually pay such a fine.
(2) Kibin: (Unless someone wants to be the ugly cop. :P)
(1) GM: Girl: That's what insurance is for....
(2) Kibin: Well, then the laws require forced labor until the debt is paid off.
(1) GM: Girl: Gyah; this will put my rates through the roof....
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Insurance for stealing? I think the king should hear about that.
(2) Kibin: Rates? What rates?
(1) GM: Girl: My insurance rates. Sheesh. How dense are you?
(2) Kibin: Did someone pay you to steal the cloak?
(1) GM: Girl: Well... the one guy did suggest your cloak would be worth more than just any old cloak... but he just wanted it out of your hands, not in his. Strange....
(3) Elorin: We just haven't had to deal with much in the way of professional thieves before.
(2) Kibin: Wait. What guy
(2) Kibin: ?
(2) Kibin: Do you know where he is?
(1) GM: Girl: Probably watching through his spyglass. No way to meet him, now. Ah well.
(2) Kibin: Huh.
(3) Elorin: (I'd suspect someone possessed, but my Discern Location earlier today said he was still waiting to come back)
(2) Kibin: Elorin, can you do that spell again to try to locate the ghost?
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Discern Location ( level 8, "Reveals exact location of creature or object." )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 8 Spell ( level 8, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(2) Kibin: (I'm guessing there's a difference between 'Failed to target' and 'waiting to come back'
(3) Elorin: (yes, Jack said he was in the Abyss, level 666****, pit 666** or something like that)
whispering to Elorin, Moving; the abyss, plane # 562789666, pit 13872
(2) Kibin: (So is he still in the abyss?)
(3) Elorin: (yep, place 562789666, pit 13872)
(3) Elorin: (plane, not place)
(2) Kibin: (Well, tell us, will ya? :P)
(3) Elorin: Huh, it's not the ghost, he's still dead for the moment
(2) Kibin: Huh.
(2) Kibin: Who was this guy?
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot looks around (Goggles of Night) **
(3) Elorin: So, who was this person who wanted to rid me of my cloak?
(2) Kibin: Eldon, what are those goggles on you?
(1) GM: Nobody's in range that you didn't already know about.
(1) GM: Girl: If I tell you, he'll kill me.
(1) GM: Girl: And my insurance doesn't cover THAT.
(2) Kibin: Oookay...
(3) Elorin: Do you have anything that once belonged to him?
(2) Kibin: So. What do we do now?
(1) GM: Girl: Umm... let me go?
(3) Elorin: Something he paid you with, perhaps?
(1) GM: The girl pulls a platinum coin from her boot.
(1) GM: Girl: You mean like this/
(1) GM: ?
(3) Elorin: That was his?
** (2) Kibin sits down and watches. This should be interesting. **
(1) GM: The girl closes her fist around it.
** (2) Kibin feels short. **
(1) GM: Gril: It was. It's not anymore.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot never feels short. Other people are just overtall. **
** (2) Kibin looks over at Eldon. Huh, he's short too. **
** (2) Kibin wonders if anyone else ever gets the feeling that they're being watched. **
(3) Elorin: Hand it over and we might consider just letting you go.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: After we make sure it is, in fact, from him.
(1) GM: The girl considers for a moment, then carefully sets it down.
(3) Elorin: (do I need anything else to make sure Discern Location finds me the right person?)
(2) Kibin: (Scrying would be a lot more useful.)
(2) Kibin: (And you already used a level 8 spell twice today, me thinks.)
(1) GM: That orks, yes.
(3) Elorin: (ah, but Discern Location has no saving throw)
(1) GM: Works. Grr! This keyboard has a slight habit of missing keystrokes.
(3) Elorin: (and I get 3 8th level spells per day)
(2) Kibin: By any chance, is it up near the archmage tower?
** (3) Elorin picks up the coin and casts **
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Discern Location ( level 8, "Reveals exact location of creature or object." )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 8 Spell ( level 8, "Spell slot tracking device" )
** (2) Kibin looks around to see anything suspicious near him. **
whispering to Elorin, stationary; North tower, 3rd floor, 2nd window from the east corner, roughly 2000 feet from where you stand.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot is wearing shades **
(1) GM: Girl: Can I go now?
(3) Elorin: Hmm, he's about 2000 ft that way.
** (3) Elorin points **
** (2) Kibin takes to the skies and flies over quickly that way. And will get there in less than a minute. Searching for this person. **
(3) Elorin: Yes. Unless one of you has another question.
(1) GM: The girl carefully gets up, and runs away.
(3) Elorin: Wait, Kibin.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: No.
** (2) Kibin stays around, then. **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Can you teleport us there?
(2) Kibin: It won't take long.
(3) Elorin: He's in a tower, 3rd floor.
(2) Kibin: Okay.
(2) Kibin: Still won't take long.
(3) Elorin: "2nd window from the east corner" (exact words of GM)
(2) Kibin: Okay...
(1) GM: Kaylin: Yeah, I think I can. Gather round....
(1) GM: Jason hops into his familiar, then flies to Kaylin's shoulder.
(2) Kibin: Oh fine. We'll teleport.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot gathers round **
** (2) Kibin scoots close to Kaylin. **
(3) Elorin: (hmm, we never gave the girl her dagger back.)
(3) Elorin: (should make it easy to track her down if she ever decides to come back and steal something else)
Kaylin casts Teleport ( level 5, "Instantly transports you anywhere." )
Kaylin can cast Teleport 0 more times
(2) Kibin: I see I'm still the shortest party member...
(1) GM: Location check: [1d100] -> [4] = (4)
(3) Elorin: (heh, that's good enough to position us exactly where she wants down to the millimeter :P)
(1) GM: You find yourselves in a well-appointed apartment. A man sleeps in a bed.
(1) GM: A telescope sits, in a case, near the window.
(2) Kibin: (Does the man have any weapons on him? Or spell component pouches?)
(3) Elorin: (fits with the girl mentioning his spyglass)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: *Whispering* Can either of you cast a truth spell?
** (2) Kibin looks over to Kaylin. **
(1) GM: He's in bed. You can see a blanket, his hat, and that he's slightly balding. That's about it.
(1) GM: It's a silk blanket, and a silk hat.
(1) GM: [1d20+11] -> [20,11] = (31)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: *Whispering* Then perhaps you could cast it?
(1) GM: The man wakes:
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Excuse me, my good man, but you seem to have had a hand in a thief trying to steal from us...
(2) Kibin: (I need to slap Eldon now. :P)
(1) GM: Man: What are you doing? Invading my home! GUARDS! Intruders!
** (2) Kibin glares at Eldon. "Great going there." **
(2) Kibin (whispering): Do I reconize his voice?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: One zone of truth...
whispering to Kibin, Nope.
(3) Elorin: (not on my list, unfortunately)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (The kings spellcasters could cast it)
(2) Kibin (whispering): Not from the faint voice?
whispering to Kibin, Nope.
(1) GM: Listen checks?
(2) Kibin: (Is there a lock on the door?)
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [9,10] = (19)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+0] -> [6,0] = (6)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [10,18] = (28)
(1) GM: There's a bar, which isn't in place.
whispering to Kibin, you hear a lot of people climbing stairs....
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot puts it in place. **
** (2) Kibin places the bar over the door. And whistles. **
whispering to Elorin, you hear something from the other side of the door...
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, the room is very quiet.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot moves over to the party and looks at the man in the bed. **
(1) GM: Man: ASSASINS!!
(2) Kibin: By any chance are you the king?
(1) GM: You hear a bang, and the door splinters....
(1) GM: It's quite solid, however.....
(1) GM: Man: GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!!!!!
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Tell us why you told a thief to steal from us.
(3) Elorin: Calm down, man, we're not here to kill you.
(1) GM: you hear another bang, and the door shudders; one of the hinges breaks lose.
(3) Elorin: We just want to know why you hired a thief to steal my cloak.
(1) GM: Man: YOU BREAK INTO MY HOME, AT NIGHT, ACCUSE ME OF THEFT, AND WANT ME TO CALM DOWN!!!!!
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: He does have a point.
(2) Kibin: Yes...
(3) Elorin: (wait a minute, we never did any sense motive checks when she claimed the coin was from the man who hired her)
(1) GM: A heavily armed and armored man breaks through the door, drops the battering ram he'd been using, and draws a sword, all in one fluid motion.....
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot waits **
(1) GM: Roll vs. Initiative.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+6] -> [8,6] = (14)
(3) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [6,6] = (12)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+2] -> [20,2] = (22)
(2) Kibin: (Holy. :P)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Maybe we should do something less subtle next time - Like knock on the door)
(2) Kibin (whispering): How small is a mouse?
(1) GM: [1d20+5] -> [8,5] = (13)
(3) Elorin: (yeah, this really wasn't very well thought out)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+2] -> [2,2] = (4)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [10,4] = (14)
(2) Kibin: (Maybe we should run? :P
(1) GM: Jason, Eldon - tie - re-roll.
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [10,4] = (14)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+6] -> [18,6] = (24)
(1) GM: [1d20+0] -> [19,0] = (19)
(1) GM: Kibin, man in bed, Eldon, Jason, Armored man, Elorin, Kaylin.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Don't kill anyone - We're the intruders.
(2) Kibin: (Huh. Does it look like we could take this guy? Without killing him?)
(1) GM: Full plate. You can't see what he looks like under his helmet. But he did take down a very sturdy door in three blows.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (We outnumber him - And there's always non-lethat)
(3) Elorin: (If their will saves are bad enough, I can keep them from doing much with Greater Command...)
** (2) Kibin changes into a mouse and skitters away. **
(2) Kibin: (There. :P)
(1) GM: the man in bed growls.....
(3) Elorin: (I don't think you can shrink that small with alternate form)
(1) GM: Says a few odd words, and gestures...
(2) Kibin: (I can shrink however small I want to. I think.)
(3) Elorin: (huh, just checked and there's no lower limit)
(2) Kibin: (Yup.)
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [3,19] = (22)
(2) Kibin: (Ooo? Mass hold person?)
whispering to Elorin, You can't quite identify it... but it doesn't seem to be a short spell....
(1) GM: Eldon?
(1) GM: The man in bed is still actively working on his spell.
(2) Kibin (whispering): I'd guess a mouse would be dimunitive.
(2) Kibin (whispering): Or maybe fine. Hmmm.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Hold action
(1) GM: Jason steps out of his bird (which he directs to fly far, far away) and sees what he can do about the guy in bed.
(1) GM: Ghost Telekenesis: Manuvers: Standard Action, Concentration: Combat Manuvers (Disarm, Trip, Grapple (Pin), Bull Rush) 12 rounds; +12 for Base Attack, +Cha Mod (10) for dex/str due to method), Wait: [1d4] -> [2] = (2)
(1) GM: ... and finds he can't get a grip - at all - on the man in bed.
(2) Kibin (whispering): Hello great and poweful GM?
(1) GM: The man in armor charges.....
(1) GM: Let's see... who's still flat-footed... and looks dangerous....
(1) GM: Elorin.....
(3) Elorin: (flat-footed AC 29)
(1) GM: [1d20+26+4] -> [15,26,4] = (45)
(3) Elorin: (oh)
(2) Kibin: (Eeeep.)
(1) GM: And he hits you with his greatsword for [2d6+5+7] -> [1,3,5,7] = (16)
(3) Elorin: (guess I better roll Heroes' Feast hp: [1d8+10] -> [1,10] = (11))
(1) GM: He doesn't seem particularly inclined to let someone named "assasin" by his employer live.
(2) Kibin: (Oh crud. I accidentally ignored the GM.)
(2) Kibin: (Okay, no longer ignored. :P
(1) GM: Elorin? Your turn.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Comments to the room 'You know, I think we got played.'
(3) Elorin: Possible
(3) Elorin: If so, I'm tracking down that girl tomorrow to ask a few more questions
** (3) Elorin casts defensively **
(3) Elorin: Halt!
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Greater Command ( level 5, "As command, but affects one subject/level" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 5 Spell ( level 5, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) GM: Concentration check?
(1) GM: Granted, you probably can't miss....
(3) Elorin: Concentration Skill Check: [1d20+22] -> [16,22] = (38)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (May I just suggest that B&E be moved off of the tactics list?)
(3) Elorin: (I don't think it's possible for me to fail)
(2) Kibin (whispering): What's your ruling on the size of the mouse? Fine, which is under 6 inches in height/length?
(1) GM: Yep.
(2) Kibin: (B&E?)
(1) GM: On who?
(3) Elorin: (Breaking and Entering)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Break and Enter)
(2) Kibin: (Oh.)
(3) Elorin: (man in bed and guard)
(3) Elorin: (DC 23)
(1) GM: Mouse = > Out of combat. Fine, I should think; I've seen mice.
(2) Kibin (whispering): Okay. So that's a +7 from size to AC... But I can't really attack can I
(2) Kibin: (Any place for me to hide?)
(1) GM: [1d20+16] -> [3,16] = (19), [1d20+11] -> [19,11] = (30)
(2) Kibin: (And still keep seeing whats happening, of course.)
Kaylin casts Wall of Force ( level 5, "Wall is immune to damage." )
Kaylin can cast Wall of Force 0 more times
(1) GM: Kaylin isolates the guy in bed from the fighter.
(1) GM: Guy in bed is sealed off.
(1) GM: Kibin?
** (2) Kibin goes hide and stay out of this fight. As he probally doesn't want to make this person too angry. **
(1) GM: The man in bed finishes casting his spell....
(1) GM: And a whirling mass of air appears just outisde his window.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Can I try a diplomacy check?)
(2) Kibin (whispering): Need a hide check?
(1) GM: Charges in the other window (breaking the wall in the process....) and tries for Elorin....
(1) GM: [1d20+23] -> [18,23] = (41) for [2d8+5] -> [1,6,5] = (12)
(2) Kibin: (We're not going to get to the archmage tower today, are we?)
(1) GM: Elroin - what's your AC?
(3) Elorin: (35)
(1) GM: Bah! Stupid keyboard, transposing letters....
(1) GM: So you get hit for 12.
(3) Elorin: (a bruise, but nothing serious)
** (3) Elorin found the F9 macro key **
(2) Kibin: (Great job!)
(1) GM: Eldon? Yes, you can try a diplomacy check, but there's a few catches; it either takes one full minute, or you're rushed, and take a -10 for a full-round action.
(1) GM: Also, situational penalties; you broke into the guys house, and accoused him of theft; -5 circumstance.
(2) Kibin (whispering): He's the king, isn't he?
whispering to Kibin, What makes you think that?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Can we all stop killing each other long enough for an explanation? Then, if you don't like it, you can go ahead and attack again.
(1) GM: Diplomacy check?
(2) Kibin (whispering): Tower. Guards. Silk. Guards.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Diplomacy Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [7,19] = (26)
(2) Kibin (whispering): Complaining of assassins.
(1) GM: -15 makes for an 11...
(1) GM: Hostile -> hostile. Sorry.
(1) GM: Jason sees about tripping up the big guy with the sword....
(2) Kibin (whispering): Magic spells. :P
(1) GM: [1d20+22] -> [11,22] = (33)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Maybe we should just leave.
(1) GM: Touch succeeds; opposed Str check: [1d20+10] -> [14,10] = (24) vs. [1d20+5] -> [12,5] = (17)
(1) GM: And the big guy falls!
(1) GM: And takes a move action to stand; anyone taking an AoO?
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot is still holding action. **
** (2) Kibin is a mouse. **
(1) GM: Diplomacy checks, rushed, are a full-round action; your turn in the initiative doesn't come back up for a while.
** (2) Kibin wonders if mice can sneak attack. **
whispering to Kibin, and realizes "no"
** (3) Elorin didn't draw his sword **
(1) GM: So nobody threatens to take AoO's....
(3) Elorin: (maybe I should do that sometime)
(1) GM: And the armored brute swings... this time, trying for a more damaging blow...
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Maybe not - No threat yet)
(2) Kibin (whispering): If only I was a swarm...
(1) GM: [1d20+20] -> [4,20] = (24) for [2d6+16+7+4] -> [6,6,16,7,4] = (39)
(1) GM: Fortunately, your AC isn't that low....
(3) Elorin: (clang)
(1) GM: The blow glances off the enchanted armor of the Favored soul.
(1) GM: Elorin?
(1) GM: Kaylin: Umm... anyone want to leave?
(2) Kibin: (When is it MY turn? :P)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Yes.
(2) Kibin: (Oh wait. Kaylin is going to teleport out?)
(1) GM: Elorin? Your turn.
** (3) Elorin draws his sword and attempts to disarm the fighter **
(1) GM: Do you have improved disarm?
(3) Elorin: (no)
** (2) Kibin wonders if surrendering is an option. **
(1) GM: AoO: [1d20+20] -> [16,20] = (36) for [2d6+16+7+4] -> [4,2,16,7,4] = (33)
(1) GM: AC?
(3) Elorin: (damn, he hit)
(2) Kibin: (Apparently not, for Elorin.)
(1) GM: Well, that disarm's foiled.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (B&E is definitly off the list)
(1) GM: However, it's an attack action, so you may have iterative stuff you can do.
(3) Elorin: (no quick draw)
(1) GM: The plate-clad man smashes into Elorin's side.
(1) GM: Ah. Oh well.
(1) GM: Kaylin readies an action to cast Greater teleport when everyone who she's friendly with and is still in the room touches her.
(1) GM: Kibin?
** (2) Kibin scoots over to Kaylin. **
(1) GM: The man in bed makes a saving throw to throw off the Command....
(1) GM: [1d20+16] -> [14,16] = (30)
(1) GM: And succeeds.
(1) GM: He casts a spell, and jumps out the window.
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [11,19] = (30)
(2) Kibin: (Feather fall.)
whispering to Elorin, Levitate.
(3) Elorin: (close, Kibin)
(1) GM: The air elemental continues to attack....
(1) GM: Focusing on Elorin, it's first target.
(1) GM: [1d20+13] -> [14,13] = (27) for [2d8+15] -> [3,5,15] = (23), and [1d20+13] -> [6,13] = (19) for [2d8+15] -> [3,1,15] = (19)
(1) GM: And, fortunately, puts too much effort into raw damage to actually hit....
(1) GM: At least, I'm guessing your AC is over the 29 from flanking....
(3) Elorin: (35)
(3) Elorin: (29 was flat-footed)
(1) GM: Eldon?
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot moves over to Kaylin, says 'Sorry about that' to no-one in particular, and preparres to teleport. **
(1) GM: Jason sees what he can do about disarming the brute....
(1) GM: Attack roll: [1d20+22] -> [5,22] = (27); defense: [1d20+24] -> [11,24] = (35)
(1) GM: And he holds on to his great sword.
(1) GM: The armored man seems particularly focused.....
(2) Kibin: (Might we leave now? :P)
(1) GM: And goes in for a full attack: [1d20+20] -> [10,20] = (30), [1d20+15] -> [18,15] = (33), [1d20+10] -> [12,10] = (22), [1d20+5] -> [1,5] = (6)
(1) GM: Ah, forgot flanking bonus; one hit for [2d6+4+7+16] -> [6,1,4,7,16] = (34)
(3) Elorin: (clang clang clang swish)
(3) Elorin: (oh)
(1) GM: Summons are fun, aren't they?
** (3) Elorin is seriously hurt now **
(1) GM: Elorin?
(2) Kibin: (Can we please leave now? Or at least surrender.)
(1) GM: Kaylin: I'm waiting....
** (3) Elorin wants to find out why his cloak was stolen (if only briefly), but not all that much **
** (3) Elorin steps over and touches Kaylin **
(1) GM: And Kaylin teleports.....
Kaylin casts Greater Teleport ( level 7, "Teleports without error." )
Kaylin can cast Greater Teleport 1 more time
(1) GM: And, except for Jaon, who just walks out of the building on his next turn, everyone's back at the wagon.
(2) Kibin: Can we go to that archmage's tower in the morning now?
(1) GM: After a moment, you hear an alarm being raised.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: That would be for us.
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(2) Kibin: Okay. Now would be nice.
** (2) Kibin is his dragonny self again, by the way. **
(1) GM: And Jason's bird comes flyin in, just after Jason joins it, and lands on Kaylin's shoulder.
(3) Elorin: Depending on how clearly he remembers how we look and just how powerful he is, we could be in serious trouble if we stick around
(1) GM: Kaylin: Well, I guess we could go now....
(1) GM: Kaylin: Gather round....
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: I'm sure that with a zone of truth spell, we could explain it all. We'd probably spend a few weeks in a dungeon, but it's better than the alternative.
(2) Kibin: Wait for jason first. He should be here in a little while...
(1) GM: The bird on Kaylin's shoulder squaks, and jason steps out for a moment.
(3) Elorin: (next time we contemplate something like this, could you give us a wisdom check or something to realize it's a bad idea?)
(1) GM: Jason: Flying was faster than running.
(1) GM: Jason then steps back into the bird.
(2) Kibin: Hmmm.
(2) Kibin: Anyway...
** (2) Kibin gathers around. **
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot does not gather round. **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Do what you want. Honour demands that I explain my actions to the king.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Sorry, guys, but...)
** (2) Kibin looks over to Winddancer/Jason. **
(1) GM: Jason steps out of the bird, and sends Winddancer flying off.
** (3) Elorin thinks we would probably be exonerated in a fair court, but doesn't really want to risk it. **
(1) GM: Jason: Hey now! We're leaving, and you're under orders from the king to accompany us.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Then I'll leave it to the king to judge my disobedience, as well.
** (2) Kibin stays over with Kaylin. **
(1) GM: Jason: Well, guess there's not much for it, then....
(1) GM: Jason walks up to Eldon....
(1) GM: Ghost Malevolence: Will Save DC 25 (15 + Ghost's Cha modifier) or possess subject
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Will save: [1d20+10] -> [2,10] = (12)
(2) Kibin: (Wow. That sucked.)
(1) GM: Jason's bird flies back and lands on Eldon's shoulder.
(2) Kibin: That works.
(1) GM: Jason: So we're agreed, then? Everyone ready to go?
(3) Elorin: Yes
(2) Kibin: Yup. Except maybe Eldon, but he doesn't have much choice...
(3) Elorin: (I think staying in this circumstance would be worthy of an alignment shift for me)
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, he's ready to go, at least.....
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Bad decision...)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eventually, Eldon is going to explain *Everything* to the king)
(1) GM: Everyone gathers round, and kaylin teleports everyone to the snowy expanse, lit up by the still existing light portion of the tower....
(2) Kibin: (Or we could just leave the old coot. :P)
(1) GM: And Jason quickly steps out of Eldon.
** (2) Kibin dives into the snow again. "Weeee!" **
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot heads for the city. **
(1) GM: Jason: Umm... you do realize we're on a different continent, right?
(2) Kibin: Eldon, you're not going to walk across thousands of miles and swim across an ocean, are you?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: I'll get there eventually.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: I'll get a ship.
(2) Kibin: And cross desert. And scale cliffs.
(2) Kibin: And visit a few unhappy trolls.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot pulls out his sword and commands it to flame. **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Trolls.
** (2) Kibin scoots away from the flame. **
(1) GM: Kaylin sighs: Tell you what; if you're still determined to go in the morning, I'll teleport you back, and you can expain to the King then.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: That is acceptable.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot turns off the flame and puts the sword away. **
(1) GM: Kaylin: In the meanwhile, I'm rather tired, so if you don't mind.....
** (2) Kibin doesn't like fire... "So, we finish sleeping? Or go search the tower?" **
(2) Kibin: Okay. Sleep it is.
** (2) Kibin curls up on the nice warm snow, and goes to sleep. **
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot makes camp...Away from these lunatics. **
(2) Kibin: (Lunatics?!?)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yes. Your ghost possesed him)
** (2) Kibin snores. **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (You fled the city, admitting guilt, you'll probably spend a week here...You'll probably be wanted kingdom for a thousand miles around the city)
(2) Kibin: (Yay. Snow. :)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (wanted criminals)
(3) Elorin: (this reminds me of the time in another campaign that the Captain of the Guard of a major city was a demon/devil in diguise, and we teleported into his room and killed him)
(3) Elorin: (of course, no one believed the demon corpse left there was his...)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Zone of Truth)
(2) Kibin: (Which none of us have. Roleplaying is better.)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (The kings' spellcasters would have it)
(1) GM: Going to sleep?
(3) Elorin: (the big problem with spells like that is they allow saving throws)
(3) Elorin: (so does Discern Lies, I think)
(2) Kibin: (Yes. Sleep in the nice warm snow, near the wagon.)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yes, but I'm pretty sure the spellcaster would know)
(3) Elorin: (can't we go to the tower and sleep there?)
(1) GM: That's not spelled out, either way... but nothing stops the three zone system.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Three zone system?)
(1) GM: Put someone in a spot, and place thee Zone of Truth spells over it. Also, have those who cast the Zones also cast Discern Lies, and focus on the target. Good luck making 6 will saves.
** (2) Kibin continues snoring, hopefully till morning. **
(1) GM: The rest of the night passes relatively uneventfully.
(1) GM: In the morning, Kaylin studies up, and looks at Eldon.
(2) Kibin: (Am I snowed in now? :P)
(1) GM: Kaylin: So, we going?
(3) Elorin: (with a +24 bonus? I think I would actually have a decent chance at it)
(3) Elorin: (but, of course, that doesn't apply to everyone in the party)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: You are going. I must explain my actions to the king.
(1) GM: Also a few with Sense motive running around. What's your bluff check?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eldon? 19)
(3) Elorin: (no ranks, +4)
(3) Elorin: (so, yes, multiplicity does make it near guaranteed, but just a single Zone of Truth isn't worth a whole lot)
(1) GM: See? It works. the guy that doesn't have the +26 will save will likely fail at least one of them. The guy with the +26 Will save can't lie convincingly. As long as they don't try it on a Sorceror, or someone immune, it works out in the vast majority of cases.
(1) GM: It's pricy as all get-out, but it is difficult to foil.
(1) GM: Kaylin holds out one of her hands to Eldon.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot takes it. **
(3) Elorin: (of course, then you have the party where the Sorc casts Mind Blank on everyone...)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Anyone else want to come for this?
(1) GM: Jason shrugs, steps into his familiar, and joins Kaylin.
(2) Kibin: We teleport here, then have to teleport back?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (You don't have to.)
(3) Elorin: (hmm, we did get ample evidence of the king giving fair judgements while we waited in line)
(1) GM: Kaylin: After all, this time around, we're going to them; there's no possiblity of "resisting arrest" or immediacy clauses in getting attacked.
(2) Kibin: Oh fine. I'll come along.
(3) Elorin: Hmm, Eldon, what do you know about the system they would use in a trial for us?
(2) Kibin: (Summon a being of pure law and good from the upper planes?)
(3) Elorin: (as long as you omit the "There shall be no excuses" line, that might work)
(3) Elorin: (we are, after all, guilty)
(3) Elorin: (we just have mitigating circumstances)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Do I know? GM?)
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, You've attended a couple; they tend to be fairly short; usually, there's plenty of evidence to say what happened. Decent numbers of witnesses, bodies, or wounded people. They are also very systemic; they check all the items at the scene; in this case, the guard's sword, the guard's body, the guard's armor, and the room itself; by now, those have already been logged.
(3) Elorin: (brb)
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, also, justice focuses not on punishment, but on repairations....
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Very systematic - Very little is missed. Justice tends to focus on repairations, not punishment.
** (2) Kibin goes to Kaylin. Ready to teleport. **
(1) GM: Kaylin teleports, taking everyone with.
(1) GM: And lands right at the palace gate.
(1) GM: Kaylin: You know the area; your lead.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot announces himself to the palace guard and says the king would probably like to see them...Unarmed. **
** (2) Kibin wonders how they intend to unarm him... **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Balefull polymorph into a mouse?)
(2) Kibin: (Haha. Then I can't talk.)
(2) Kibin: (And I can turn back just as easily. :P)
(1) GM: The guards, noting that you came, quickly and efficiently disarm everyone of all equipment, including having a priest cast Detect magic to make SURE they aren't hiding anything too much.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (...Balefull polymorph into a human)
(1) GM: Unless you fail the Will save....
(3) Elorin: (With Eldon's testimony on the thoroughness and fairness of the system, I'm willing to go along)
** (2) Kibin relinquishes all of his equipment. And can't exactly hide anything on himself now... **
(1) GM: Jason steps out of Winddancer....
(1) GM: And the guards get really confused when they try to disarm him.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: He's a ghost.
(1) GM: The priest shrugs. I can probably keep him under control if he gets out of line.
(2) Kibin: (I guess my nautural weapons aren't much of a threat to the king.)
(3) Elorin: (the king won't even be there in person, remember?)
(1) GM: The guards escort everyone in for trial.
(2) Kibin: (Or anyone else. :P)
(1) GM: The old man from the room is quickly fetched, and he's all dressed up for court.
(1) GM: King: So.
(1) GM: King: Who accuses?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: I do not know if we have anything to accuse; I can merely explain how we ended up where we were.
(1) GM: Old Man: I, Thamior, am the injured party in this case! These ruffians broke into my home, and accosted me! Fortunately, I was prepared, but much damage was done.
(1) GM: King: You may speak.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (You = who?)
(1) GM: (that was to Eldon, by the way)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: I would perfer if there were spells to establish the truth of my words cast.
(1) GM: King: As you wish.
(1) GM: Three men in robes stand around, and cast two spells each.
(1) GM: Three more hang back, watching intently.
(1) GM: Making any will saves?
(2) Kibin: (Why?_
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Nope.
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot explains about the thief in the night, the person the thief said had told her of the cloak, the mention of the spyglass, the subsequent break and enter, leaving nothing out and embelishing nothing. **
** (3) Elorin fails, what, 9 will saves? **
(1) GM: 6 will saves, so no bluff check needed.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Not trying to bluff, anyway)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: * He then falls silent, waiting for the judgement of the king.
** (2) Kibin wonders when was the last time he had no magic items on him. **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (1st level? :D )
(1) GM: King: So let me see if I have this straight.... rather than bring a known thief to justice, you take her word that the coin she gave was from a man who hired her, then track down that man, in the middle of the night, on your own, rather than coming to the authorities, and accuse him with no reliable evidence?
(2) Kibin: (I never was 1st level. Muuwaahaahaa.)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Yes.
(3) Elorin: (if Antimagic Field weren't centered on the caster, it could be really nasty against high level characters)
** (2) Kibin wonders what the mages think of there still being magic on him. Hmmm. **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Well, in-game you must have been)
(1) GM: The King sighs.
(1) GM: King: Balif: Was the guard injured?
(1) GM: Balif: No.
(1) GM: King: Was the guard's armor scratched?
(1) GM: Balif: Nothing that would indicate a blade, my liege.
(2) Kibin: I was as quiet as a mouse the whole time.
(1) GM: King: Was Thamior physically injured?
(1) GM: Balif: No.
(1) GM: King: Read the list of damages.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (If you look at it a certain way, this is really funny)
(2) Kibin: (Why?)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Well, sorta 'We'll look back on this and *Laugh*')
(3) Elorin: (I find it a bit pathetic that NONE of us thought to make a sense motive check about the coin being from the man who hired her)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Just an acute sense of irony)
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ok, two rules: No B&E and all thieves shall be turned over to the nearest Good-aligned authority)
(1) GM: Balif: One reinforced door, valued at 237 crowns, one reinforced doorframe, valued at 13 crowns. One wall, with an expected repair cost of 3,245 crowns. One painting on said wall, valued at 1,000 crowns.
(1) GM: King: Well, we have damages. What does that come to with repairation?
whispering to GM, [237+13+3245+1000] -> 4495
whispering to GM, [4495*3] -> 13485
** (2) Kibin has a bad feeling about this... **
(1) GM: Baliff: 13,485 crowns, my liege.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (I had a bad feeling from the moment the guy woke up)
(1) GM: King: Does anyone have anything to add?
** (2) Kibin hmmmphs. One thief stealing a cloak, and one noisly halfling, resulted in this. **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (Plus, everybody doing a B&E in the first place)
** (2) Kibin sits down, waiting for the verdict. Not much that can be done to get out of this. **
(2) Kibin: (I guess they took away my neck pouch with the portable hole.)
(1) GM: Thamior: They tried to assasinate me!
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: That, we did not do.
(1) GM: King: I find no grounds suffient for a charge of attempted assasination.
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: Nor attempt.
(3) Elorin: Two things: First, does it matter that all of these damages were caused by this man and his guard using deadly force against a group who had made no hostile actions, aside from simply being there, and didn't even have weapons drawn? Second, I would like definite confirmation of whether the thief's statement was true.
(1) GM: King: It does not; it is perfectly reasonable for an unarmed man in bed, at night, to presume that anyone getting in without knocking is hostile. Any damages done to his home as a direct result of his percieved self-defense are chargeable to the intruders.
** (2) Kibin was literally as quiet as a mouse as well. **
(1) GM: King: As for the second, if you still have the coin, it won't matter too much; it's been through the hands of at least two people, and it will likely be impossible to distinguish one from another by spells.
(1) GM: King: Is there any further defense?
(3) Elorin: (I was more referring to Thamior verbally confirming or denying that he'd hired her under the Zone of Truth)
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot mutters 'Hopefully not' **
(4) Eldon Quickfoot: (She never said he hired her)
** (2) Kibin waits patiently for this to be over with, and for him to get his items back. **
(1) GM: King: Very well. You obviously stand guilty breaking and entering. The fine is 13,485 crowns.
(1) GM: Jason: I can cover it.
** (2) Kibin wonders why Jason is being generous all of a sudden. **
(1) GM: Jason blithly walks past the guards, and fetches the coin from his wagon......
(1) GM: The guards sit there, in court, counting out 1,348,500 copper pieces (Jason had them exchanged before handing them over)
(3) Elorin: (lol)
(3) Elorin: (how big is this mountain of copper? :P)
(1) GM: (No respect for the law.... but he's not exactly going to let everyone suffer... other than waiting the hours & hours while it's counted)
** (2) Kibin hmmms. "Doesn't exactly have the same effect as a mountain of silver pieces, I think." **
(1) GM: Very. He convinced the banker to bring it in in a portable hole.
(1) GM: Lots of the guards help, and finally, as the sun sets, they finish counting.
** (2) Kibin lays down on the ground, just a normalish looking silver dragon. **
(1) GM: Seems the banker was quite precise, and all the copper is there.
** (2) Kibin wants his magic items back. **
(3) Elorin: (so how did the banker count it out so quickly?)
(3) Elorin: (huge rolls of coins?)
(1) GM: King: You are free to go. You may pick up your equipment at the gate; and Thamior, you really ought to stop lining your walls with gold thread.
** (2) Kibin wants to bash his head against a wall now. **
** (2) Kibin places his magic items back on at the gate. Yay. **
** (4) Eldon Quickfoot leaves a free man, having satisfied honour - And remembers to pick up his equipment. **
(1) GM: Rolls of coins in batches of fifty; bound rolls in batches of 50; boxes of bound rolls in batches of 50; carts of boxes in batches of 50; the banker only had to count out a few dowzen or so on the spot.
(2) Kibin: Jason, that was kind of evil, what you did back there.
(1) GM: [50*50*50*50] -> 6250000
(3) Elorin: (and, of course, he dumped it all out as he counted into a huge disorganized pile)
(1) GM: Jason: He wasn't waiving the charges based on circumstance. That was a protest.
(1) GM: (Yep. Per Jason's request.)
(2) Kibin: Hehe.
(2) Kibin: You know, I still have most of my money in silver pieces. Hmmm.
(3) Elorin: Wanted it to match your scales?
(1) GM: Jason: So, now that we are all free men...
(1) GM: Kaylin: Hey!
(3) Elorin: (wow, that's almost 13 and a half tons of copper)
(2) Kibin: Well. That and you can have a lot more silver pieces than gold pieces.
(1) GM: Jason: Well, you know what I mean.... now that our debt to society has been paid, what next?
(3) Elorin: Back to the Archmage tower to continue our investigations
(2) Kibin: Go do it again? That was kind of funny.
(1) GM: Jason: Fine. But YOU cover it next time.
(3) Elorin: What, you like watching guards count copper for hours on end?
(2) Kibin: Well. The idea was funny, at least.
(12) Elorin (enter): 19:23
(1) GM: Kaylin: Well, does anyone have any unfinished business here to take care of?
(13) Kibin (enter): 19:24
(13) Kibin: And it's not like I don't have a lot of time on my hands. Or claws.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Well, does anyone have any unfinished business here to take care of?
(4) Eldon Quickfoot (exit): 19:24
(3) Elorin (exit): 19:24
(1) GM: Hmm....
(13) Kibin: And it's not like I don't have a lot of time on my hands. Or claws.(Repost repost? :P)
(13) Kibin: Nope.
(14) Eldon Quickfoot (enter): 19:24
(13) Kibin: (This is confusing.
(2) Kibin (exit): 19:25
(13) Kibin: And it's not like I don't have a lot of time on my hands. Or claws.(Repost repost repost?)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Well, does anyone have any unfinished business here to take care of?
(12) Elorin: Is it worth the effort to track down the known thief and turn her in?
(14) Eldon Quickfoot: ((2) Kibin: Well. The idea was funny, at least.
)
(13) Kibin: If you want to, why not?
(14) Eldon Quickfoot: What evidence would we have? Co
(12) Elorin: Having her dagger would make it fairly easy, at least as far as locating her.
(1) GM: Well, that's a good last line to see, as the next was "kaylin's", on "unfinished buisiness"
(12) Elorin: No, let's go.
(13) Kibin: Fine with me.
(13) Kibin: We'll have time to track her later.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Anything you wish to pack, Eldon?
(13) Kibin: (Have to go in 8 minutes...)
(1) GM: Well; now's a decent time to stop; any objections?
(14) Eldon Quickfoot: No.
(1) GM: Kaylin, well, let's be off....
(1) GM:
(1) GM: Until next week.
(13) Kibin: (Farewell...)
