Server Administrator-> You have connected to an OpenRPG server, version '1.6.1'.
Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for
a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.
Session is schedualed for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.
(3) Elorin (enter): 09:44
(2) GM: Greetings.
(4) Kibin (enter): 09:47
(4) Kibin: Hello!
(3) Elorin: hello
(3) Elorin: just noticed the new guy has max ranks in spot and listen
(3) Elorin: and mega wisdom
(3) Elorin: we should get him a ring of sustenance so he can stand watch all night long :)
(4) Kibin: Haha.
(2) GM: Specially as he's a divine caster, yes.
(2) GM: Course, he's got poor reflex saves, and no Teleporation abilities.... at least, outside of a forest...
(2) GM: Umm... Resilient Sphere....
(4) Kibin: But he can't shapeshift into a dino and get +8 spot and listen checks, can he? :)
(3) Elorin: Wild Shape
(4) Kibin: Oh.
(4) Kibin: Meh.
(3) Elorin: And he's got the ranks in Knowledge (Nature) to know about them
(4) Kibin: Why do you people have to take my roles. :(
(2) GM: That's okay - he still needs his 8 hours of rest a night.....
(5) Rilyrr (enter): 09:52
(3) Elorin: Just one more level and I'll take your role of flying scout, too :P
(5) Rilyrr (exit): 09:52
(5) Rilyrr (enter): 09:52
(2) GM: Greetings.
(4) Kibin: You people still can't sneak attack. Or hide.
(4) Kibin: Or disable traps. Or unlock doors.
(5) Rilyrr: hello
(4) Kibin: Hello!
(3) Elorin: hi
(3) Elorin: You're the new 15th level druid?
(5) Rilyrr: yeah
(3) Elorin: brb
(6) Kaylin (enter): 09:55
(6) Kaylin: Mornin'
(4) Kibin: And here we have our parties wizard.
(3) Elorin: We're only missing the swashbuckler
(3) Elorin: and it's still 5 minutes early
(3) Elorin: this is unusual
(6) Kaylin: Indeed :)
(6) Kaylin: he posted on the forums, said he won't be here t
(6) Kaylin: 'til later
(4) Kibin: He's not going to be here.
(4) Kibin: Yeah.
(3) Elorin: Anyway, we were just discussing how you have far and away the best Spot and Listen bonuses in the whole party, Rilyrr, and that it might be a good idea for you to get a Ring of Sustenance so you can stand watch almost all night.
(5) Rilyrr: hmmm, that might work, need a week with it though
(6) Kaylin: Stick him in the crafting portal for a few rounds
(3) Elorin: Put it in your starting equipment (you haven't actually started just yet) and say the week happened long ago
(5) Rilyrr: I also dont have dark vision
(5) Rilyrr: or low light
(6) Kaylin: I can give that to you
(4) Kibin: With an XP cost, that you really shouldn't burn like that. :P
(6) Kaylin: it's 1 hour/level, so one casting a day and you'd have Darkvision up to 60 feet
(6) Kaylin: not permanent :)
(6) Kaylin: I'm spending enough XP on myself as it is
(4) Kibin: It only lasts 15 hours. I think most of you people have forgotten that
(4) Kibin: So true, it would last for the day. But during the night, it goes away.
(6) Kaylin: Well, a night is what, 8 hours?
(3) Elorin: Goggles of Night, 12000 gp for permanent 60 ft darkvision
(4) Kibin: Or you could just do it during the night anyway...
(6) Kaylin: Or that
(6) Kaylin: but if you cast it before going to sleep
(4) Kibin: I'm happy I have 120 ft darkvision.
(5) Rilyrr: or I could just attract a hawk animal companian and set him on night watch
(4) Kibin: True.
(3) Elorin: But would the halk have bonuses as good as yours?
(4) Kibin: Your checks beat my 18 listen check and 13 spot check. :P
(2) GM: Well, that's just about everyone that is expected for now, so....
(5) Rilyrr: not quite, only +25 spot
(6) Kaylin: what's your Search and Disable Trap checks, kibin?
(4) Kibin: 19/21
(4) Kibin: For your information, it's disable device.
(6) Kaylin: Whatever :P
(6) Kaylin: Disable Foo
(2) GM: Ready?
(4) Kibin: Sure, why not?
(6) Kaylin: Go for it
Moving to room 'D and D'..

(3) Elorin (enter): 10:11
(4) Kibin: (OOC goes in nifty () like this!)
(2) GM: ooc: or like this
(6) Kaylin: (I already gave him the run-down :)
(2) GM: This works too
(2) GM:
(2) GM: Snowy expanse.....
(4) Kibin: (Anyway, where were we?)
(2) GM: And it seems, with the death of the Archmage's guild, something has come scavanging..... a dragon, in a nice, white color.... looking for loot.....
(2) GM: Roll vs. Initiative.....
(4) Kibin: [1d20+2] -> [8,2] = (10)
(6) Kaylin: Initiative: [1d20 + 6] -> [10,6] = (16)
(2) GM: [1d20+4] -> [19,4] = (23)
(3) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [1,6] = (7)
(5) Rilyrr: (am I included?)
(6) Kaylin: (I don't think so, we probably haven't met yet)
(5) Rilyrr: (k)
(2) GM: Yes, but not with the group; you need initiative for when you hear the sounds of battle....
(5) Rilyrr: l1d20+6l]
(5) Rilyrr: [1d20+6] -> [16,6] = (22)
(6) Kaylin: (dvorak issues? :P)
(5) Rilyrr: (yeah)
(2) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [6,4] = (10)
(2) GM: Kibin-Jason tie - re-roll!
(2) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [14,4] = (18)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+2] -> [11,2] = (13)
(2) GM: Dragon, Rilyrr, Kaylin, Jason, Kibin, Elorin
(6) Kaylin: (Knowledge(Arcana) to know something about the dragon?)
(2) GM: If you like.
(4) Kibin: (It's a non-shiney dragon, I think>)
(6) Kaylin: Knowledge: Arcana Skill Check: [1d20+24] -> [2,24] = (26)
(6) Kaylin: (daang.)
whispering to Kaylin, CE, Immune to Cold; vulnerable to Fire
(2) GM: The dragon casts a spell....
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [8,19] = (27)
(2) GM: Then takes to the sky.
(6) Kaylin (whispering): By the way, any idea what spells I have left from last time?
(6) Kaylin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+31] -> [17,31] = (48)
whispering to Kaylin, You're short a teleport, three Flesh to Stones, three Rock To Mud, and either three Dispel Magic's or three Mud to Rocks. Which leaves you with about two slots at each of your top four levels.
(6) Kaylin (whispering): Awesome, thank you.
whispering to Kaylin, Energy Resistence (Fire)
whispering to Rilyrr, Rilyrr - you hear the sounds of spellcasting coming from the recent ruins of the Archmage's guild..... about a hundred yards off.
(2) GM: Rilyrr?
(3) Elorin: (did I make the spellcraft check or not?)
(5) Rilyrr: I move towords the sounds
whispering to Elorin, sorry; missed it - yep, you did - Energy Resistence
(4) Kibin: (There's a nifty /me command.)
(2) GM: Run, Walk, Hustle?
(5) Rilyrr: walk
whispering to Rilyrr, So down to 90 yards....
(3) Elorin (whispering): any idea which choice of energy besides the obvious guess of shoring up its weakness against fire?
whispering to Elorin, check with the girl who beat your roll by 21 points.....
(5) Rilyrr: (my char is less concerned about such things, he sees it as something to investigate but not worry about)
(2) GM: Kaylin?
(6) Kaylin: (has it made any directly hostile moves yet?)
(6) Kaylin: (besides existing.)
(2) GM: Not yet, no.
(3) Elorin: (and being non-metallic and therefore evil)
(6) Kaylin: (I'm not so keen on fighting a dragon if not strictly necessary)
(6) Kaylin: (even if it is evil)
(6) Kaylin: (delay action, then)
(2) GM: Huge dragon.
(4) Kibin: (You know that dragons have a frightful presense effect when they fly over someone?)
(3) Elorin: (which none of us are affected by)
(3) Elorin: (except maybe Rilyrr)
(4) Kibin: (Yup.)
(2) GM: Jason (Draconic): I'm not out for blood today; looking for information.
(2) GM: Shield, Level 1: Invisible disc gives +4 to AC, blocks magic missiles
(2) GM: And Jason gets off the ground, a bit of a distance from the party, so that not everyone is likely to be caught in the same breath weapon, if it comes.....
(2) GM: Kibin?
** (4) Kibin watches and waits to see what's going to happen, not wanting a fight if he can avoid it either. **
(4) Kibin: (Delay.)
(2) GM: Elorin?
** (3) Elorin joins everyone in waiting to see what happens, but wants to make sure he understands anything the dragon or Jason say **
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Tongues ( level 4, "Speak any language" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(2) GM: Dragon (Draconic): You may not be.....
(2) GM: And Jason finds out the hard way he didn't go far enough, as the Dragon lets loose with a blast of cold.....
(2) GM: and begins hovering.
(3) Elorin: Reflex save: [1d20+21] -> [10,21] = (31)
** (3) Elorin dodges **
(2) GM: Reflex save: [1d20+12] -> [16,12] = (28)
** (4) Kibin doesn't bother flinching from the blast. **
(2) GM: Everyone except Kibin and Rilyarr need to make a reflex save.....
(2) GM: [8d6] -> [4,5,3,5,2,2,1,3] = (25)
(2) GM: Jason incorporeal miss chance: 50 or less missed: [1d100] -> [2] = (2)
** (6) Kaylin relaxes **
(6) Kaylin: (aargh!)
(2) GM: Reflex save?
(6) Kaylin: Reflex save: [1d20+10] -> [3,10] = (13)
(3) Elorin: (Heroes' Feast temp hp for today: [1d8+10] -> [4,10] = (14))
(2) GM: Jason and Elorin save, Kaylin doesn't. Kaylin's the only one to take damage, so.... 25 Cold to Kaylin.
(4) Kibin: (And I'm oblivious to the cold. :)
whispering to Rilyrr, And yes, you hear the draconic roar that accompanies it...
** (5) Rilyrr continues to walk in the direction of the disturbance **
(2) GM: And the Dragon takes to hovering....
(6) Kaylin: (a little chilly out now, don't you think?)
(4) Kibin: (Nah, it's like a vacation in the bahamas.)
whispering to Rilyrr, and at the end of your walk, you can see the dragon in the air....
whispering to GM, [1d4] -> [4] = (4)
(6) Kaylin: (Really? Want a nice toasty fireball? :)
(2) GM: Kaylin?
(5) Rilyrr: (how far in the air is the dragon?)
(6) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Horrid Wilting ( level 8, "Deals 1d8 damage/level within 30 ft." )
(2) GM: Only about 30 feet up.
(4) Kibin: (I sure hope you waited till we got out of the way first.)
(2) GM: That's a Fort save, right? [1d20+19] -> [16,19] = (35)
(6) Kaylin: (30?!)
(6) Kaylin: (dang.)
(6) Kaylin: SR penetration: [1d20 + 21[
(6) Kaylin: SR penetration: [1d20 + 21] -> [15,21] = (36)
(6) Kaylin: Damage: [15d6] -> [2,2,2,4,1,5,3,6,5,5,6,3,6,5,2] = (57)
(4) Kibin: (Still half damage.)
(6) Kaylin: (eww.)
(2) GM: The dragon wilts, just a little.
(2) GM: Evervation, Level 4: 1d4 neagative levels, close ranged touch attack, no save, SR. nagative levels: [1d4] -> [4] = (4)
(6) Kaylin: (nice)
(2) GM: Jason casts a spell.....
(2) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (base): [1d20+5] -> [19,5] = (24) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(2) GM: Touch attack hits; SR check: [1d20+12] -> [19,12] = (31)
(2) GM: And gets through SR!
(3) Elorin: (brb)
(2) GM: The black ray flies from Jason's hand and the dragon wilts a little more...
(2) GM: Kibin?
(6) Kaylin: (don't get eaten)
(4) Kibin: (You're not making me feel any safer. :P)
** (4) Kibin waits till the dragon gets back down to attack. If ever. **
(4) Kibin: (Hold action, to attack if the dragon comes down to land.)
(2) GM: Elorin's turn.... and he's not here, so he delays....
(2) GM: The dragon, however, is rather worried about that draining sensation.....
(2) GM: But notes that there's not much one can do about a ghost, so tries for the Wizard.
(6) Kaylin: (dang)
(2) GM: Flies into reach, and goes for a Bite.
(4) Kibin: (Which would trigger an AoO for me, and three more attacks.)
(2) GM: With a bit of Power Attack: [1d20+20] -> [1,20] = (21) for 2d8+17]
(6) Kaylin: (*whew*)
(3) Elorin: (back)
(2) GM: And he chomps air.
(2) GM: Kibin - AoO?
(4) Kibin: (Or could just use the range. :P)
(5) Rilyrr: (how do I do spontanious casting?)
(4) Kibin: (Flanking or no flanking?)
(2) GM: No flanking - he's hovering 10 feet up in the air.
(4) Kibin: (Ah.)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+14] -> [7,14] = (21)
(4) Kibin: (Thats a miss.)
(3) Elorin: (converting prepared stuff into Summon Nature's Ally? Just cast the spell normally and state that you're changing it)
(2) GM: Declare that you're using a SNA, then cast the spell to track the slot.
(2) GM: Yes, that's a miss.
(2) GM: Taking your Full action now?
(4) Kibin: (Huh. Impossible for me to hit except on a critical hit.)
(4) Kibin: (Yeah.)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+14] -> [19,14] = (33)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [1,11] = (12)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [2,11] = (13)
(4) Kibin: (One hit. :P
(6) Kaylin: (Why don't you turn yourself into something with a bit better attackk rolls? :)
(2) GM: One hit, yes; roll for damage.
(4) Kibin: (Oh fine.)
(4) Kibin: [1d6+1] -> [2,1] = (3)
(2) GM: Although you did have to fly a little to get him in reach.... which means leaving one of his threatened squares.....
(6) Kaylin: (mmmmm... 3 whole points.)
(4) Kibin: (GM, you're evil. :P)
(2) GM: AoO: with a bit of Power Attack: [1d20+20] -> [2,20] = (22) for 2d8+17]
(2) GM: AoO: with a bit of Power Attack: [1d20+20] -> [20,20] = (40) for [2d8+17] -> [1,7,17] = (25)
(6) Kaylin: (dragon rolling poorly)
(2) GM: Only the first roll counts - what's your AC?
(6) Kaylin: (nevermind that comment :P)
(4) Kibin: (37.)
(2) GM: So the dragon bites empty air.
(4) Kibin: (No. The dragon bites me.)
(4) Kibin: (But doesn't penetrate armor.)
(2) GM: So the dragon's teeth scrape off the dragon's hide.
(2) GM: You're back; taking an action now, or continuing to delay?
(3) Elorin: (I take my action)
(4) Kibin: (Touch AC is sadly only 18. :(
** (3) Elorin clicks his heels together, activating his boots of speed, and decorates the dragon's underside with a few arrows **
(3) Elorin: (+1 to hit from haste)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+32] -> [20,32] = (52)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [8,4,4,17,0] = (33)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+32] -> [1,32] = (33)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [8,4,5,17,0] = (34)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+32] -> [13,32] = (45)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [8,1,6,17,0] = (32)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 3) Attack Roll: [1d20+27] -> [13,27] = (40)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [4,6,3,17,0] = (30)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 4) Attack Roll: [1d20+22] -> [3,22] = (25)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [1,4,6,17,0] = (28)
(3) Elorin: (one crit threat, rolling to confirm...)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+32] -> [3,32] = (35)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [8,3,1,17,0] = (29)
(2) GM: Four hits, [33+34+32+30+29] -> 158
(2) GM: Lots & lots of damage.
(3) Elorin: (crit is x3, so another [1d8+2d6+17] -> [2,5,5,17] = (29) damage)
(6) Kaylin: (remind me never to stand in front of Mr. Chaingun here)
(3) Elorin: (second shot was a nat 1, so it misses)
(2) GM: Ah, okay; three hits.
(4) Kibin: (Bah. I could have done that. If I actually hit. And had flanking.)
(6) Kaylin: (158 damage?)
(2) GM: The dragon Roars.
(2) GM: Not quite that much, but yes, lots of damage.
(2) GM: Rilyrr?
(3) Elorin: (153 damage. Still quite a bit)
(3) Elorin: (though 58 of it was extra from the lucky crit)
(5) Rilyrr: I move forward 30 feet as my move
(5) Rilyrr: Rilyrr casts Flame Strike ( level 4, "deals 15d6 in 10ft radius cylinder" )
(2) GM: On who?
(5) Rilyrr: dragon, but aimed so it doesnt reach the ground
(6) Kaylin: (how far away is he?)
(2) GM: 210 feet.
(6) Kaylin: (wow, close.)
(2) GM: Reflex: [1d20+10] -> [8,10] = (18)
(4) Kibin: (I think that stuff without the () is treated as your character saying it out loud.)
(2) GM: I'm guessing that's a failure.....
(2) GM: Roll for damage.
(5) Rilyrr: (ah)
(5) Rilyrr: [15d6] -> [6,5,1,4,2,4,2,2,1,4,6,2,1,4,1] = (45)
(4) Kibin: (Which is times by 1.5)
(3) Elorin: (only half of it is fire)
(6) Kaylin: (minus 30 for energy resistance?)
(2) GM: Flame strike - half of it's fire, half divine; 23 of which is fire: [23*1.5-10+22] -> 46.5
(2) GM: Kaylin?
(6) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Enervation ( level 4, "Subject gains 1d4 negative levels." )
(2) GM: Touch attack?
(4) Kibin: (What, no fireball?)
(6) Kaylin: Ranged Touch Attack Roll: [1d20+8] -> [9,8] = (17)===> DMG: [0+0] -> 0
(2) GM: That's a Hit; roll for SR penetration and negative levels.
(6) Kaylin: SR: [1d20 + 21] -> [4,21] = (25) Negative levels: [1d4] -> [4] = (4)
(4) Kibin: (To hit a drago with a touch attack, you just need to not roll a critical one. :)
(6) Kaylin: (eww, mm.)
(2) GM: And the dragon gets that draining feeling yet again as the black ray flies from Kaylin's outstretched palm.....
(5) Rilyrr: (umm I forgot SR roll, should I just roll it now?)
(2) GM: Right - yeah, SR check.
(5) Rilyrr: [1d20+19] -> [15,19] = (34)
(2) GM: Which passed.
(4) Kibin (whispering): It must be nice being GM, being able to wield so much power.
(2) GM: Concetration Skill Check: [1d20+24] -> [19,24] = (43)
(2) GM: Dimension Door, Level 4: Teleports you short distance
(2) GM: And Jason lands just above the dragon...
(2) GM: The dragon, looking sorely hurt, tries to escape....
(2) GM: Kibin, Flanking AoO.....
(2) GM: (Jason threatens, due to his staff....)
(4) Kibin: (*laughs evilly*)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+14] -> [15,14] = (29)
(4) Kibin: (Plus two from flanking, It should hit, right?)
(2) GM: Barely. But that's all that's needed.
(4) Kibin: [1d6+1+8d6] -> [1,1,1,6,5,4,2,1,3,4] = (28)
(2) GM: Using your newly purchased claw covers?
(4) Kibin: (Why not?)
(2) GM: Doesn't really matter much in this instance, as the DR doesn't cover it....
(2) GM: The dragon drops dead ... from directly above the party. Reflex saves, everyone....
(4) Kibin: [1d20+17] -> [9,17] = (26)
(3) Elorin: Reflex save: [1d20+21] -> [5,21] = (26)
(4) Kibin: (Boing.)
(6) Kaylin: Reflex save: [1d20+10] -> [20,10] = (30)
(2) GM: Except Jason and Rilyrr....
(6) Kaylin: (rock ON!)
(4) Kibin: (Kaylin is da wizard!)
(2) GM: Kaylin manages to get out of the way. Kibin and Elorin, however, take [6d6] -> [6,2,4,1,3,6] = (22) damage each.
(6) Kaylin: (wizards should have more skills in running away...)
(2) GM: And are pinned under the dragon corpse's great weight.
** (4) Kibin ooophs from the impact. **
(6) Kaylin: (to Rilyrr) Hey, could you lend us a hand here?
(2) GM: Hmmm... you still have that ring of Freedom of movement, don't you.....
(2) GM: Elorin not pinned.
** (4) Kibin tries to wriggle out of under the dragon. **
(3) Elorin: (that's what that is? I just thought it was paralysis immunity.)
** (3) Elorin goes to look up Freedom of Movement) **
(4) Kibin: Escape Artist: [1d20+20] -> [14,20] = (34)
(4) Kibin: (Would my roll being 28 affect anything? I forgot dexterity bonus from gloves.)
(2) GM: Success. Kibin manages to burrow out from under the dragon by way of compacted snow.
(3) Elorin: (oooh, I like that ring :D)
** (3) Elorin crawls out from under the dragon and dusts himself off a little **
(2) GM: (Stops Paralisis, grapples, Pinning (well, automatically succeed any attempt to escape a pin, escape a grapple, or to resist being grappled, anyway))
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Light Wounds ( level 1, "Cures 1d8 damage +1/level (max +5)" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 1 Spell ( level 1, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [1d8+5] -> [2,5] = (7)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Minoir Wounds ( level 0, "Cures 1 point of damage" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 0 Spell ( level 0, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(4) Kibin: Ow. That hurt.
(2) GM: Jason: Congratulations on figuring it out.
(6) Kaylin: Be nice, he's a rogue. They don't think by profession.
(4) Kibin: How about next time, I'm above the dragon, and you're below it?
(6) Kaylin: See what I mean?
(3) Elorin: You don't look very hurt to me
(2) GM: Jason: You were already below the dragon. I just filled in the available spot on the other side.
(3) Elorin: Just a little minor bruising
** (4) Kibin glares at Kaylin. "Do you know how hard it is to disable some traps? I need intelligence for that, don't I?" **
(6) Kaylin: Possibly. Breaking and entering isn't my field of specialty.
(2) GM: Jason: Probably don't want to say that to the person that can just make them vanish....
** (5) Rilyrr walks over to the party **
** (6) Kaylin turns to the newcomer **
(2) GM: Jason: Greetings. Beautiful day, isn't it?
(3) Elorin: Hello, and who might you be?
(6) Kaylin: Thanks for the assist
(5) Rilyrr: hello. my name is Rilyrr, who might you be?
(3) Elorin: A travelling party of adventurers, currently researching the reason a particular malicious ghost hasn't moved on.
** (6) Kaylin fishes around inside the bag of holding for a comb **
** (6) Kaylin waves. **
(6) Kaylin: I'm Kaylin.
(5) Rilyrr: oh? the one that seems to be part of your group?
(2) Jason: And I'm jason.
(3) Elorin: My name is Elorin
(3) Elorin: Different ghost
(3) Elorin: He's benevolent
(6) Kaylin: This one's cuddly.
(2) Jason: No, different ghost. I'm not usually malicious.
(6) Kaylin: Well, maybe not cuddly as such.
(2) Jason: Hard to get any softer.....
(3) Elorin: Took it upon himself to destroy the necessary ingredients for a particular evil ritual
(3) Elorin: It's taking a while
(3) Elorin: (and that's the understatement of the millenium :P)
(2) Jason: A thousand years and they still aren't extinct. Stupid flower merchant......
(5) Rilyrr: Perhaps I am missing some information here....
(6) Kaylin: (Epic spell: Genocide Flower)
(6) Kaylin: I believe we are both missing information.
(6) Kaylin: I'm quite curious as to what one such as yourself would be doing in this rather vast snowy plain.
(3) Elorin: Yeah, it seems pretty desolate around here except for the ruins of the Archmage tower.
(6) Kaylin: Rrgh, dragons always mess up my hair. *begins combing*
(5) Rilyrr: I was simply enjoying the beauty of this area
** (5) Rilyrr looks at the corpse of the dragon **
(5) Rilyrr: But it appers that there is less beauty now then a moment ago
(3) Elorin: It's a pretty sight, I'll grant you that, but I wouldn't want to live here.
(2) Jason: The steaming corpse of the dragon, with it's jugular vein cut.....
(6) Kaylin: While the scenery is rather pleasant, aside from the ex-lizard, I'm failing to spot many plants. Or animals.
(2) Jason: Life's everywhere, for one who knows where to look.
(5) Rilyrr: A place needs no plants or animals to be part of nature
(4) Kibin: :says, "Actually, I don't mind it here."
(4) Kibin: (Don't mind me when I use :, habit from MUSH roleplaying.)
(6) Kaylin: Kibin, you don't mind it anywhere except in warm places.
(3) Elorin: True, but I'm rather more fond of forests
** (5) Rilyrr peers at Jason **
** (4) Kibin says, "Probally because silver dragons and warmth don't go well together." **
(5) Rilyrr: So why do you have a ghost travelling with you?
(4) Kibin: Because this ghost is friendly. Wouldn't harm a fly.
(5) Rilyrr: Oh?
(5) Rilyrr: Thats not what I observed
(2) Jason: Heh. Tell that to the dragon.....
(6) Kaylin: Well, dragons aren't flies.
(3) Elorin: He was seeking to stop an evil sorcerer who was trying to complete the ritual he's trying to make impossible when a vision from Ehlonna sent me to his aid
(6) Kaylin: Although they may have superficial similarities, they are quite different.
(2) Jason: Although I have been swatted myself quite a few times.....
(3) Elorin: That objective has been accomplished, but we haven't had reason to part ways yet.
** (4) Kibin says, "I was minding my own buisness until a scroll teleported me to another plane and some demon wanted to make kobold stew out of me." **
(6) Kaylin: What, did you try to talk to the poor soul?
(2) Jason: I'm not poor... I have money.....
(5) Rilyrr: Perhaps this is also worth investigating. May I travel with you until I discover the truth of the situation?
(6) Kaylin: Speaking of the demon Kibby mentioned.
(5) Rilyrr: And perhaps prevent such unnessasary waste.
(4) Kibin: Let's see. I was being carried in a sack.
(2) Jason: And you weren't a dragon, then....
(3) Elorin: If you want to travel with us, perhaps you should hear exactly what we're looking for and why. It's a rather strange tale in some parts.
(6) Kaylin: "rather"? I'll be in the carriage if anyone needs me. It's a bit cold out here.
(3) Elorin: You see, a few weeks back we discovered a new merchant in a town we visited who was selling magical pillows that always stayed warm
(2) Jason: Jason: Got a rope? I think I can one-up the carriage....
(5) Rilyrr: Perhaps, but this speak of ghosts troubles me. Ghosts are most unnatural.
(5) Rilyrr: Please continue though
(3) Elorin: It turned out the pillows were actually the people of the town, changed into that shape by a ghost's unethical research.
** (6) Kaylin gets out the wolf-fur coat and huddles up **
(3) Elorin: The technique he used is impossible to dispel, unlike normal polymorph spells.
(3) Elorin: We managed to chase him out of that town and discover how to restore the populace, but he wasn't gone for long
(6) Kaylin: (brb)
(2) Jason: The restoration wasn't perfect....
(4) Kibin: Happily, he can't keep me in one shape for long.
(3) Elorin: He hasn't returned there that we know of, but he's ambushed us a few times since and appears to be continuing his research in unusual transmutations somewhere else.
(2) Jason: Nothing was really restoring the poor victims to their natural form.
(2) Jason: Although that smithy wizard did get everyone human again, at least.
(3) Elorin: We're trying to find out why he rose as a ghost instead of just dying, and he has exhibited some skills usually only possessed by Archmages, so we're on our way to investigate at the Archmages' tower.
(4) Kibin: Hmmmm. Aren't you a druid, with that reincarnation spell?
(5) Rilyrr: I do know reincarnation. Why?
(4) Kibin: Ah. I had to spend a month or so as a wolf because of a reincarnation spell.
(5) Rilyrr: You seem to have a number of forms, Dragon, wolf, and kobold was it?
(4) Kibin: Yup.
(4) Kibin: And I can be in a lot of other different forms now.
(5) Rilyrr: A shapeshifter?
(3) Elorin: Yeah, he kept bugging Kaylin until she researched a spell to turn him into a dragon.
(3) Elorin: The type of dragon she picked can change forms
(4) Kibin: The lack of thumbs is kind of annnoying...
** (4) Kibin flicks his fingers for effect, and turns into a Deinonychus, to show Rilyrr. With all of the magic items on him. Except the claw sheaths. **
(3) Elorin: (didn't Jack rule that you don't know about Deinonychus?)
(4) Kibin: (No. :P)
(2) Jason: Knoweledge(Nature) Check?
(4) Kibin: (Oh comeon. It's one out of many.)
(4) Kibin: (And I've been it twice before. :P)
(5) Rilyrr: Perhaps we should move on before the body attracts yet more predators
(2) Jason: Jason might as well take a quick look around; dragons tend to have stuff, right?
(3) Elorin: Not usually on them, from the little I know.
(3) Elorin: He might have a hoard somewhere nearby, though.
(5) Rilyrr: If we leave the weath it will be redistributed naturaly, we need not take any action.
(6) Kaylin: Collecting dragon scales might be useful!
** (4) Kibin changes back into his old dragony form. "Yeah, but this dragon isn't going to need it." **
(5) Rilyrr: Do you have need of large quantities of valuable items either?
(4) Kibin: Do dragons need large quantities of valuable items?
** (6) Kaylin wraps up in coat and wanders over to the group again **
(3) Elorin: As you can see, some of our party members dislike passing up the chance at treasure, so we might as well go along and see it gets divided fairly.
(6) Kaylin: Well, researching spells is expensive.
(6) Kaylin: And some of them have rather pricey aspects.
(5) Rilyrr: I have seen many things in this world and greed is usally a bad sign
(3) Elorin: Much of my equipment, which I would be far less effective without, cost a great deal to make or acquire.
(2) Jason: Of course, you yourself carry quite a few expensive things.....
(8) Kibin (enter): 11:38
(8) Kibin: (Who what when where?)
(10) Kaylin (enter): 11:39
(2) GM: last line?
(10) Kaylin: (Rilyrr: greed is usually a bad sign)
(8) Kibin: (Same.)
(9) Rilyrr (enter): 11:39
(4) Kibin (exit): 11:40
(6) Kaylin (exit): 11:40
(5) Rilyrr (exit): 11:40
(2) Jason: Elorin: Much of my equipment, which I would be far less effective without, cost a great deal to make or acquire
(8) Kibin: (Elorin is going to take a while.)
(2) Jason: Jason: Of course, you yourself carry quite a few expensive things.....
(8) Kibin: (Or not.)
(3) Elorin: (I didn't leave)
(8) Kibin: (Elorin is still here I see.)
(8) Kibin: I'm also getting low on cash.
(10) Kaylin: You're a dragon. Their natural state is low on lucre.
(9) Rilyrr: Anyway, whatever we do we should do soon
(10) Kaylin: I say we collect a few dragon scales.
(8) Kibin: Why?
(10) Kaylin: Souvenirs, if nothing else.
(9) Rilyrr: And be aware that we wont be the only ones looking for the hoard...
(8) Kibin: Hmmmm, that may be true...
(3) Elorin: The truly greedy would seek out the dragon just to kill it for its hoard.
(3) Elorin: We just happened upon it and defended ourselves
(9) Rilyrr: Perhaps, but it was fleeing, there was no need to kill it
(9) Rilyrr: the final blow was not out of defense
(10) Kaylin: (hey, did I actually pick up that +4 mithral shield?)
(3) Elorin: (yes)
(10) Kaylin: (forgot to add it to charsheet)
(3) Elorin: True, but it was an evil dragon and would likely attack other innocent travellers if we let it escape
(8) Kibin: And let it prey on some other adventurer?
(8) Kibin: Anyway, it's horde probally won't be too far away.
(9) Rilyrr: The creature, whatever its moral ideals, was part of the natural world, it would have been less likly to attack travelers after this experiance
(3) Elorin: Death is also a part of the natural world.
(10) Kaylin: Gentlemen, could we perhaps resume this discussion at a later time?
(10) Kaylin: In a less conspicuous setting?
** (8) Kibin sighs. "You can go cast that reincarnation spell thingie on it if you want." **
(9) Rilyrr: As it has been mentioned death is a part of the natural world, let us be gone
(2) GM: Jason: And hey, isn't prey allowed to fight back? Does not the herd of bison gore a wolf that gets too close?
(9) Rilyrr: But the bison will go back to its herd after the wolf is chased off
(10) Kaylin: Enough debate for now... let us be off.
** (8) Kibin waits patiently for the course of action to be decided. **
(3) Elorin: Yes, let's go. Which way to the tower, or are we looking for its hoard first?
(8) Kibin: Tower can wait, can't it?
(10) Kaylin: Perhaps it might be best to find somewhere moderate safe to rest?
(2) GM: Jason: Got a rope? I think I can arrange that....
(10) Kaylin: That dragon almost bit me.
(2) GM: Jason: Bah! It missed you by a mile.... well, a few feet, anyway.....
(8) Kibin: And finding the horde would solve two problems.
(10) Kaylin: As a matter of fact, I do have a rope.
(10) Kaylin: It's the principle of the thing. Besides, that dragon had awful breath.
(2) GM: Jason: You wanted somewhere sreasonably safe to rest? I think I can do a nifty trick with a rope....
(10) Kaylin: Seems to be a common trait among their kind, actually.
(3) Elorin: A dragon's cave would likely be avoided by most things, and the news of its death hasn't had much time to spread...
(10) Kaylin: Nice reasoning there. *wink*
(8) Kibin: My breath isn't that bad.
(10) Kaylin: If you say so
(10) Kaylin: Everyone in agreement then?
(2) GM: Jason: Well, either way, we do need to look around... either for clues, or for hoards, so....
(2) GM: Search Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [20,10] = (30)
(8) Kibin: I'll take to the skies and start searching, then.
(2) GM: Jason busys himself with looking around....
(2) GM: Under things, over things.... in things....
(8) Kibin: Search: [1d20+19] -> [20,19] = (39)
(8) Kibin: (Ha. :)
** (3) Elorin helps search **
(3) Elorin: Search Skill Check: [1d20+2] -> [20,2] = (22)
(10) Kaylin: (both of you rolling really hi...)
(10) Kaylin: (3 20s in a row?!)
(2) GM: [10d20] -> [13,18,4,13,5,16,10,6,5,11] = (101)
(8) Kibin: (What are the chances of that? O.o)
(3) Elorin: (wow, 3 nat 20's on searching in a row)
(2) GM: 1 in [20*20*20] -> 8000
(10) Kaylin: (dice are spooked)
(3) Elorin: (so, that's take Kibin's roll and add +4 for the help?)
(2) GM: That works.....
(3) Elorin: (or does Jason's Aid Another get an extra +2 for beating the DC by 20? :) )
(3) Elorin: (just like epic synergies increase by +2 for every 20 ranks)
whispering to Kibin, Kibin - you find two caves, both well-concealed with snow and ice.
** (8) Kibin flies back to the group. "My fine dragon senses has discovered the caves. I think." **
(10) Kaylin: Good thing those are instinctive... lead on.
whispering to Elorin, one a bit to the north, one a bit to the south.
whispering to Kibin, one a bit to the north, one a bit to the south.
(8) Kibin: Two, actuallly.
(10) Kaylin: Two caves
(10) Kaylin: ?
(8) Kibin: Well, I didn't want to risk actually going into the caves.
(10) Kaylin: Jason would make a good scout..
(8) Kibin: Yup.
(9) Rilyrr: One of the reasons the dragon attacked could be that it was looking for food for a mate and children. We should be cautious.
(2) GM: Jason: Bah! Always the guy who's dead meat already.....
(10) Kaylin: Well, I could go, but seeing how well I've fared against large lizards before...
(2) GM: Jason: Well, no help for it, then....
(2) GM: Jason Which first?
(10) Kaylin: Thank you
(8) Kibin (whispering): Which direction was the wind blowing?
whispering to Kibin, East.
(8) Kibin (whispering): You're no help. :P
(8) Kibin: I don't know. North?
(2) GM: Jason: North it is....
(2) GM: Jason fades from sight...
whispering to GM, [1d2] -> [2] = (2)
** (10) Kaylin starts making a snow spellbook **
(2) GM: A few minutes later, Jason comes back, leading a spry old man in a white robe.....
(2) GM: He doesn't seem to be bothered by the cold at all....
(8) Kibin: Well, north isn't right.
(10) Kaylin: (same guy as before?)
(2) GM: (Yep)
(10) Kaylin: Hello again.
(8) Kibin: So how's life in the mountains?
(2) GM: Old Man: Ah, I see you took him down... wonderful, wonderfull....
(2) GM: Old Man: The chill feels so nice, now.
(9) Rilyrr: Ah, another old man, care to explain whats going on?
(10) Kaylin: Please tell me you didn't do that just to test us again.
(10) Kaylin: Oh, and this is Ril- I'm sorry, I've forgotten your name already.
(9) Rilyrr: Rilyrr
(2) GM: Old Man: No, no test; he didn't want me about while he was rummaging through the ruins and, having already stripped them rather clean myself, I didn't feel like arguing.
(10) Kaylin: Ah, that's right. Rilyrr...
(2) GM: Old Man: So, what brings you here?
(10) Kaylin: I don't suppose you'd have a crafting portal handy?
(8) Kibin: Investigating a ghost that died when it collapsed.
(2) GM: Old man: Do you know if it was a black or gray robe? Funny, but all the whites were on field assignments at the time.....
(8) Kibin: Huh. That's an odd coincidence.
(2) GM: Old man: Course not; that's buried under the rubble. Still works, though, if you can get to it.
** (8) Kibin wonders if deities had any hand in this. **
(2) GM: Old Man: Why would a diety take an interest in who I hand assignments out to?
(3) Elorin: (no, it was that Great Worm Prismatic Dragon, remember? And the Old Man plotting about it, knowing what she'd do after the experiments the Black robes conducted with her baby)
** (8) Kibin remembers the old man can read thoughts... **
(2) GM: Old Man: I hardly make a secret of it. How could you forget?
(8) Kibin: (Elorin, I'm not talking about the prismatic dragon. I'm talking about the white robes being on field assignments.)
** (10) Kaylin thinks very hard about crafting portals **
(8) Kibin: Because I didn't think I'd see you again.
(8) Kibin: Or come back here, for that matter.
(2) GM: The old man laughs....
(8) Kibin: Maybe when everone else here is dust, I may come back here...
(3) Elorin: That may take a while, considering he's gone through Kaylin's ritual, too.
(8) Kibin: I'm not talking about him.
(9) Rilyrr: Is it just me or is this conversation somewhat disjointed?
(10) Kaylin: Hey, Kibin, where'd you leave that gem?
(3) Elorin: You just don't have some of the background information.
(9) Rilyrr: Ah, I see
(8) Kibin: Um. That handy haversack none of us use yet.
(2) GM: Jason: He traded a few spells with Kaylin; one of the ones he picked up was the transformation she used on Kibin.
(3) Elorin: (anyway, is it even possible to discern the color of the ghost's robes from looking at him?)
(10) Kaylin: Kibin, you ought to talk to him about that gem.
(3) Elorin: (or does it all turn a uniform grey regardless of what it was in life?)
(2) GM: Old Man: One can hardly blame an old man for wanting to hang on a little longer....
(8) Kibin: Hehe, a dragon is sure a way to hang on.
(10) Kaylin: A few hundred years or so?
(10) Kaylin: I think I'll worry about that later. Maybe in two, three hundred years...
(8) Kibin: Anyway... I found an odd glass marble that has very odd effects on me.
(2) GM: Old man: Or millenia... I hear Eon's a lovely duration....
(10) Kaylin: Makes him cute, for one.
(2) GM: Olld man: Ah yes, that one. Enjoy her.
(10) Kaylin: Not really my species, but don't you think she'd make a lovely ornament?
** (8) Kibin wonders if the old man can send thoughts telepathically back. Hmmm. **
(2) GM: Old Man: She's not dangerous - not to you, anyway, but I suppose there could be a resonance effect... yes... but the chances of it! Man, such a random convergence to make it happen.....
(2) GM: Old Man: Usually pointless to do so.
(10) Kaylin: (Knowledge roll to see what the heck he's talking about? :P)
(8) Kibin: Anyway, for some reason, whenever I'm in contact with the gem, weird stuff happens...
** (8) Kibin probally still has the lineage markings. Hmmm. **
(2) GM: Old Man: It would..... her sentence isn't up yet... obviously. But still... the chances of someone like Kibin getting ahold of her...
(2) GM: Old Man: If it's any consolation, you and I are about the only ones that could be affected in such a manner.
(3) Elorin: "sentence"?
(2) GM: Old man: It's a particular form of prison spell. Expires when a set circumstance occurs.
(8) Kibin: Ah.
(8) Kibin: Do you know what the sentence is?
(2) GM: Old man: Had a hand in making it. Bad business, that, but I'm afraid I'm not permitted to say. There are some people even I don't want to cross.
(8) Kibin: So can you tell me what the gem does to me then?
(10) Kaylin: So now that's over with, do you have any spellbooks from the remains of the Tower?
(2) GM: Old man: Of course. But they're mine. For some odd reason, I've become rather ... greedy, of late....
(10) Kaylin: *sigh* Dragons
(10) Kaylin: Would some sum of money persuade you to part with a few spells?
** (8) Kibin smiles. Hehe. **
(2) GM: Old Man: Ah... gold.... such a lovely color.....
(10) Kaylin: I'd think silver or platinum would go better with your scales, though.
(2) GM: Old Man: Yes... makes for a nice nest.....
(8) Kibin: Sadly I need to buy magic items for protection.
(2) GM: The old man shakes his head a moment.
(8) Kibin: Otherwise I'd still have a sizable mountain of silver coins around my neck.
(2) GM: Old man: Well, I alwasy wanted to get into a dragon's head, to see how they think... and now I know.
(10) Kaylin: Oh well, worth a try.
(10) Kaylin: What's it like in there?
(10) Kaylin: Though I doubt this little one is a good sample, it must be cramped....
(2) GM: Old man: Wonderful.
(2) GM: Old man: So, about this ghost you're after.....
(3) Elorin: He's a gnome and looks like he got crushed when the tower was knocked down
(8) Kibin: It has a polymorph type of spell that can't be dispelled.
(8) Kibin: Well, more like a series of spells.
(2) GM: Old Man: Really? That sounds a lot like what Sawunn was working on.....
(3) Elorin: It may have started out as a series, but it seems like he's managed to condense it into one now.
(2) GM: Old Man: Oh?
(8) Kibin: Of course, you're not really the creature that you're polymorphed into...
(3) Elorin: When we first encountered him, it was a several step process involving Flesh to Stone, a custom version of Stone to Mud, a mold, and Flesh to Stone or Break Enchantment.
(8) Kibin: How do we know that it's just one step now?
(3) Elorin: Since then, we've heard about people just finding themselves merged with other nearby creatures in an instant, and we think it's his work.
(2) GM: Old Man: Might that be a simple matter of a lack of time sense when stoned?
(3) Elorin: Possibly
(3) Elorin: I'm not sure if any of his victims had witnesses to the transformation
** (8) Kibin wonders why the prismatic walls are down on the tower. **
(2) GM: Old Man: The light was getting in the way of my sleep, and I don't really need them to see at night anymore, so...
(8) Kibin: Yeah, dragons can see in the night pretty well. Better than a wolf or a kobolds vision, by far.
(8) Kibin: And it's kind of hard to sneak up on a dragon, too.
(2) GM: Old man: So what are you looking to know about Sawunn? He was always a little obsessed with research, which is odd, for a Sorceror.
(2) GM: Old Man: It's not like he could scribe any spell he liked into his book....
(3) Elorin: We were hoping to find clues to why he's a ghost instead of just dead.
(3) Elorin: It's a little hard to stop his work for more than just a few days without that knowledge
(2) GM: Old Man: Can't say for sure, I don't know the thoughts of the dead, but he was always looking for the ultimate transformation. He wanted something that couldn't be dispelled, which he found, but would still give the full suite of abilities of whatever form was chosen. Crazy guy. A rather difficult task, that.
(8) Kibin: Huh.
(10) Kaylin: Well... worthwhile, if he'd put it to better use.
(8) Kibin: Well, don't I have the full ablities of a dragon?
(2) GM: Old man: Yes, yes, you do....
(3) Elorin: Hah! He could have just asked Kaylin!
** (3) Elorin laughs **
(2) GM: Old Man: By the way - what color do you bleed?
(8) Kibin: Silver. Why do you ask/
(8) Kibin: (ask*)
(2) GM: Old Man: Mine's still red.....
(8) Kibin: Huh.
(2) GM: Old man: And yet, it's the same spell. Must have something to do with your tangles....
(8) Kibin: I thought that polymorph spells make it so that anything that falls off the creature reverts to it's origional form?
(2) GM: Old Man: Most do. This is just the oddest spell.....
(3) Elorin: I seem to remember some comment a while back about your soul taking the place of some of the spell's magic, Kibin.
(3) Elorin: That's probably it.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot (enter): 12:38
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Helllo, sorry I'm late)
(10) Kaylin: (hi there)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Bit of a problem - Eldons' character sheet got deleted. Fortunatly, I've still got the text file)
(3) Elorin: (hi, talking with the head Archmage now)
(3) Elorin: (seems the ghost (named Sawunn) was trying to research something like Kaylin's Great Warping)
(2) GM: Missed a fight with a white dragon, and a bit of conversation with the old man archmage, and introductions with Rilyrr (new Druid)
(8) Kibin: Well, those miner soul thingies that gave Derrel a wish did do something to me. Said I wsa confusing them, or something.
(8) Kibin: And then no more wolfie...
(10) Kaylin: I wonder how Derrel is doing...
(2) GM: Old Man: Ah, the armor guy? Last I looked, he was rather busy.
(3) Elorin: Smiting Evil demons left and right?
(2) GM: Old Man: Pretty much. The Smiting wasn't going so hot, though, they weren't demons, exactly....
(10) Kaylin: Oh?
(2) GM: Old Man: Never seen anything like them before. Odd. About the closest thing I've encountered is an inevitable... yet these did not seem to be creatures of law. Very strange.
** (8) Kibin wonders what exactly the miner souls did to him. Hmmm. **
(8) Kibin: Maybe Kaylin's spell is the solution?
(10) Kaylin: Hmm. Well, I have every confidence that he'll be fine.
(2) GM: Old Man: He's surrounded by healers, angels, and others. How could he not?
(10) Kaylin: Well, whatever it was caused enough of a disturbance to require recalling him.
(3) Elorin: And a whole bunch of other paladins, or so I gathered from what his mount said.
(2) GM: Old Man: As well as most the self-proclaimed paladins. And the ones that are left are mostly liars or fools.
(2) GM: Old Man: Or just the ones that haven't made a name, yet...
(3) Elorin: So if we meet a paladin before this thing's done, we should be rather dubious of his paladinhood?
(2) GM: Old Man: Most likely.
(10) Kaylin: Good to know.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: That's not likely to do much for the reputation of paladins.
(3) Elorin: All right, so should letting Sawunn study Kaylin's spell be enough to let him move on?
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Annoying allergies)
(2) GM: Old Man: He never studied. He always had to actually do everything. Bah. Sorcerors.
** (8) Kibin notices that he doesn't mind waiting as much as usual. Hmmm. **
(3) Elorin: So, get him to cast it somehow?
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (So...What is the sorcerer obsessing over?)
(10) Kaylin: Perhaps if we scribed a scroll for him?
(3) Elorin: (a non-dispellable polymorph type spell that grants all the abilities of the assumed form)
(2) GM: Old Man: That might do the trick... but then, he'd also want to use it to make sure it worked....
(3) Elorin: (which is exactly what Kaylin's Great Warping does once you can put a hit die into the new form)
(3) Elorin: (as Kibin has done)
(8) Kibin: Isn't the spell easily dispellable at first?
(8) Kibin: (Elorin, can you stop saying stuff OOCly? And comment ICly? :P)
(2) GM: Old man: There's nothing easy about getting rid of a spell that strong.
(8) Kibin: Yeah, but isn't a sufficiently powerful sorcerer capable of doing it?
(8) Kibin: Or wizard.
(10) Kaylin: With enough trouble.
(2) GM: Old man: Quite true.
(8) Kibin: Hmmm. I wonder if it's the same for me.
(2) GM: Old Man: We could find out....
(8) Kibin: If Kaylin doesn't mind a couple of days if it's the same for me.
(10) Kaylin: Sounds good to me.
(10) Kaylin: But I wouldn't mind a bit of rest first.
(2) GM: Old Man: Great; I'll ready a disjunction in the morning; that should cover it, if anything would.
(3) Elorin: It would be nice to know for certain, and I imagine Wind Walk can get us through the rubble to the crafting portal here to recast it if we have to.
(8) Kibin: Okay. I guess I should keep all my magic items off?
(3) Elorin: Yeah, that might be a good idea...
(2) GM: Old Man: Unless you want them to be mundane items.
(8) Kibin: Ah, okay.
(8) Kibin: (Didn't they take Elorin's ring of sustanance off?)
(3) Elorin: (no, my ring of protection)
(8) Kibin: (Why not the other ring? How could they know what type of magic it is?)
(3) Elorin: (I currently have two rings on, one of Evasion and Sustenance, the other of Freedom of Movement)
(8) Kibin: (Exactly. :P)
(3) Elorin: (oh, wait, you're talking about at the trial?)
(2) GM: (During the search when surrendering to the guard for the trial.... yes..... they would have.....)
(8) Kibin: (Yup.)
(3) Elorin: (ok, so I have to eat for a week and can't stand guard all night)
(2) GM: (Well, 8 hours rest a night for the next week.....)
(8) Kibin: To sleep it is, I guess?
(2) GM: Jason: Did you say you had a rope handy? I'd really like to try a trick.....
(8) Kibin: Oh wait, weren't we going to find that other dragon's horde, so we'd have a safe place to stay for the night?
(3) Elorin: I assume you'll want to investigate the other cave while we wait, Kibin?
(10) Kaylin: Oh, right.
** (10) Kaylin gets out her silk rope and waves it at Jason **
(2) GM: Jason: Nice; about how long is that?
(8) Kibin: Hehehe. Maybe...
(10) Kaylin: about 50 feet, I believe.
(2) GM: Jason: You mind cutting off about five feet or so? It won't work with a rope that long....
** (8) Kibin can't resist the allure of treasure either. Dragon insticts and all. **
(10) Kaylin: I suppose I could do that
(10) Kaylin: Elorin, could you put that shiny stick of yours to some use?
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Or you could ask if he *Pointing at archmage* has a smaller rope - As long as the rope won't be used up.
(2) GM: Old Man: Oh, sure; I have one handy...
(2) GM: The old man reaches into his robes, and pulls out a ten foot section of hemp rope.
(2) GM: Old Man: This do?
(8) Kibin: What possible use could a dragon have with a rope?
(2) GM: Jason: Yes, that should work....
(2) GM: Spectral Hand, Level 2: Forms a ghostly hand to deliver low-level touch spells; has 1d4 hp, taken from caster [1d4] -> [1] = (1)
(2) GM: Rope Trick, Level 2: As many as eight creatures hide in extradimensional space
(2) GM: Jason quickly casts two spells, and the rope decides to stand on it's end.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Well, uh,...I have no idea, really.
(2) GM: Jason then jumps into his familiar, climbs the rope, and vanishes at the top.
(10) Kaylin: Hmm, clever.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Maybe alternate forms.
(2) GM: Old man: About the same use he has for it.
(8) Kibin: Oh.
(8) Kibin: I thought you had a cave you sleep in or something?
(2) GM: Old man: Yes, I do. For that matter, I commonly sleep in a spell-based mansion. But it's nice to have the simpler one available at times.
(10) Kaylin: Indeed. Though, I think I might be better off meditating somewhere else.
(10) Kaylin: This bag of holding makes me nervous when using spells like that.
(2) GM: Old man: Perfectly understandable. It's not really safe for such things.
(8) Kibin: Would my portable hole have any effect either?
(3) Elorin: (although, it never actually says anything bad happens for any combination but a bag of holding and portable hole)
(8) Kibin: (Never hurts to make sure.)
(2) GM: Old Man: The interactions on those aren't fully predictable. I tend to store most my things in a Secret Chest before bedding down for the night.
(10) Kaylin: (This DM can be cruel sometimes :)
(3) Elorin: (so you could theoretically pack a bag of holding inside a bag of holding inside a bag of holding inside... :P)
(8) Kibin: Ah.
(8) Kibin: Most excluding gold pieces, I presume.
(2) GM: (Rope Trick specifies that it's "Dangerous" to do such things, but not what or why; the only "what" and "when" that's spelled out is the bag of holding/portable hole interaction.)
(8) Kibin: (So you get to be inventive. Meh.)
(2) GM: Old man: Cash is so ... comforting.....
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Says you can pack BoH into each other on the Wizards website. Don't have a link, though)
(3) Elorin: (meanwhile, Mage's Magnificent Mansion simply doesn't mention it at all)
(8) Kibin: Maybe, I've never had enough cash to make a sizable stash.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: It's your dragon nature. Dragons have an instinctive liking of shiney things.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Manages not to say 'Like crows'.)
(2) GM: After a bit, the rope goes up and vanishes at the top.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yaay for 10 Cha)
(8) Kibin: I wonder why regular polymorph spells don't have mental changes. Hmmm.
(2) GM: Old Man: Most don't... but then, most are rather short-term, and the one that can last for a long, long time does have mental changes involved.
** (9) Rilyrr falls asleep in the snow **
** (12) Eldon Quickfoot re-invents Algebra **
(2) GM: The rope comes back down from where it vanished, and Jason's familiar (and Jason) climb down.
(8) Kibin: Do you mind if I just sleep with you tonight, seeing as how you're going to do that spell in the morning?
(2) GM: Jason: Me? Sure, that should last all night, no problem, and can handle eight people.
(8) Kibin: Talking to the old man...
(3) Elorin: (what happened to investigating the other cave for a dragon hoard?)
(8) Kibin: Or old dragon, which might be more accurate.
(8) Kibin: (Do you think I'm going there alone! :P)
(2) GM: Old Man: You're just after my hoard.....
(2) GM: Jason: So, should we check the other cave?
(10) Kaylin: Oooh, dragon fight.
(3) Elorin: (do you think the rest of us wouldn't come with you if you decide to go?)
(8) Kibin: Oh comeon. If I try stealing anything, you'd just use that sphere thingie.
(8) Kibin: Or use scrying and then hunt me down and use that sphere thingie.
(10) Kaylin: Why don't you use the 'sphere thingie' right now? *grin*
(2) GM: The old man grins, and casts a spell.
(2) GM: Kaylin, make a Reflex save.
(3) Elorin: (lol)
(10) Kaylin: Reflex save: [1d20+10] -> [14,10] = (24)
(10) Kaylin: (bah)
(2) GM: You find yourself trapped in a shimmering globe of force, over 20 feet in diameter. Quite roomy, actually.
(8) Kibin: Huh, that's a lot larger than the one I was trapped in.
** (10) Kaylin leans up against a wall and settles down, enjoying the peace and quiet **
(2) GM: Old Man: Didn't have to contend with any resistence to spells for you.
(2) GM: Old Man: She, however, is properly dressed.
(8) Kibin: I've been thinking of learning to use magic, but traps don't unlock themselves.
(2) GM: Old Man: No, no, they don't. But then, you'd hardly forget how to unlock a trap just for learning a few contrips.
(8) Kibin: (And there's the multiclassing penalty :(
(2) GM: (Yeah - Dragon-1, Spellcaster-1, Rogue 15 pretty much requires Favored Class(Rogue) or Favored Class (Any)....)
(8) Kibin: (What about sorcerer?)
(3) Elorin: (depends, do you count him as a kobold or a dragon for favored class?)
(3) Elorin: (and does the dragon HD actually count for multiclassing?)
(8) Kibin: (That's what I don't know.)
(8) Kibin: (Those are racial hitdie, not class hitdie.
(3) Elorin: (regular rules are that racial hit dice don't count)
(3) Elorin: (kobolds have favored class Sorcerer)
(3) Elorin: (dragons don't have a specified favored class)
(8) Kibin: Anyway, do you know if that dragon had any family?
(2) GM: Old man: No, but I do happen to know he had a few guards for when he was out.
(3) Elorin: (besides, it's a tad late to start Sorcerer for anything but a self/allied buff caster, and I don't think we need one of those in addition to current party members)
(3) Elorin: What kind of guards?
(8) Kibin: Guards?
(3) Elorin: And why were they serving him?
(2) GM: Old Man: Oh, nothing too particularly dangerous. I'm sure the six of you could handle it easily.
** (8) Kibin taps on Kaylin's bubble thingie. "And what of Kaylin?" **
(2) GM: Old man: Oh, that.....
(2) GM: The old man gestures briefly, and the spehere vanishes.
(2) GM: Dropping Kaylin a little ways into the snow.
(10) Kaylin: Aww, so soon?
(2) GM: Old Man: The others requested your presence.
(2) GM: Old Man: They just can't get by without their keeper, you know how it goes.
(10) Kaylin: Very well then.
(10) Kaylin: Ah, so true.
(8) Kibin: If it wasn't for me, Kaylin would be dead many times over.
(10) Kaylin: Says the person who would probably still be a wolf...
(8) Kibin: True...
(10) Kaylin: So... what are we doing now? Resting? Smiting mightily?
(2) GM: Jason: I'm up for a little exploration.
(8) Kibin: Going to vanquish the dragon's guards so we can get the horde?
(3) Elorin: Are they the sort of guards that deserve death or should we try to just disable them/expel them from the cave?
(10) Kaylin: Sounds good.
(2) GM: Old Man: They don't belong on this plane.
(8) Kibin: Are they squishy targets or undead?
(2) GM: Old Man: Oh, they aren't undead.
(3) Elorin: I'd hate to be responsible for the slaughter of charmed innocents.
(3) Elorin: Extraplanars?
(3) Elorin: From what plane?
(2) GM: Old Man: Of course, they aren't exactly dead, either.....
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Demons? Elementals? Strange little mice?
(2) GM: The old main trails off in thought, making odd comments under his breath about the vagrancies of grammer....
(3) Elorin: Summoned so they'll just go back there when they die, or what?
(8) Kibin: (Does draconic have the same problem?)
(2) GM: (It's an issue with double negatives - aren't undead)
(8) Kibin: (Oh.)
(2) GM: After a bit, it becomes rather obvious that the old man is quite lost in thought.
(8) Kibin: Okay, let's go to that south cave.
(3) Elorin: I guess we'll just have to leave him to his ramblings.
(3) Elorin: Let's go.
(2) GM: The entrance to the south cave is mostly buried in snow, but it's accessable.
** (10) Kaylin glances at the old guy and heads off **
** (12) Eldon Quickfoot heads to the south cave **
** (9) Rilyrr is still sleeping **
(3) Elorin: (huh? when did you go to sleep?)
(2) GM: Jason wakes him, and asks if he'd want to explore a cave.
(8) Kibin: (About an hour ago.)
(9) Rilyrr: Lets go then.
** (8) Kibin flies above while everyone else has to be landbound and walk. **
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Natural formation...Of interest to a druid. Should the druid be a dwarf...)
(2) GM: The entrance to the south cave is buried in snow, but quite large and easily accessable. Anyone stepping inside?
** (8) Kibin says to Jason, "Ghosts first." **
(8) Kibin: Since you're not quite as fragile as us.
(2) GM: Jason steps through, to no ill effect.
** (8) Kibin follows. **
** (3) Elorin follows **
** (12) Eldon Quickfoot follows **
** (9) Rilyrr follows **
** (8) Kibin expects something bad to happen now. **
** (10) Kaylin trails behind **
(2) GM: Kaylin, still outside, isn't subject to the crushing as the wall comes down.....
(2) GM: [18d6] -> [2,6,3,1,3,4,1,3,5,2,4,4,2,6,2,4,6,1] = (59)
(10) Kaylin: (*grin*)
(10) Kaylin: (without the amulet of health, that would have killed me)
(3) Elorin: (do we get a save?)
(8) Kibin: (Reflex saves? So I won't die because SOME PEOPLE wouldn't heal me?)
(2) GM: However, Kibin, Elorin, Let's see.... That was Elorin's Roll; Kibin: [18d6] -> [2,2,5,1,1,3,3,2,4,3,4,1,5,4,6,6,2,4] = (58), Eldon: [18d6] -> [6,3,3,6,3,2,1,5,4,6,2,3,1,3,4,3,5,3] = (63); Rilyrr: [18d6] -> [1,2,2,1,4,5,3,5,5,3,5,2,6,6,1,3,2,2] = (58)
(2) GM: So... how much HP did everyone have left beforehand?
(3) Elorin: (126)
(9) Rilyrr: (120)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (920
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (92)
(8) Kibin: (22 damage before hand, not sure how much was covered by temporary HP.
(3) Elorin: (I rolled it as 14 when Kaylin got hit by breath attack)
(2) GM: 14 points of it, If I recall, so 8 points of actual damage from the blast.
(8) Kibin: (70, then.)
(2) GM: Congratulations - nobody died.
(3) Elorin: (no saving throw?)
(2) GM: The wall goes back into position, with a snick.
(10) Kaylin: (evil DM.)
(8) Kibin: (Yeah, caveins should have REFLEX SAVES?!?)
(8) Kibin: (Especially if it's a TRAP! :P)
(10) Kaylin: (How do you dodge a cavein in a small confined space?)
(3) Elorin: (yeah, really, we should at least have a chance to notice it coming and step back out of the way)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (I have tumble 19)
(2) GM: (You mean like the DC 20 search check for the Rogue that stepped blithly through?)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Could I try a tumble check?)
(8) Kibin: (No. I mean the reflex save.)
(8) Kibin: (How were we supposed to know a dragon would erect elaborate traps for us. :P)
(10) Kaylin: (it's your job to be suspicious :D)
(3) Elorin: (I don't know of ANYTHING worse than magic missile that has no save at all and no attack roll and does damage)
(2) GM: It's a DC 10 mechanical trap; direct damage, no attack roll required. They are supposed to be nasty.
(2) GM: (Check out Holy Word/Blasphemy/Dictum/Word of Chaos some time; with a high enough caster level, they are instant death)
(2) GM: (With no save.)
(9) Rilyrr: Rilyrr casts Cure Serious Wounds ( level 4, "cures 3d8+15 hitpoints" )
(8) Kibin: (With needing a bunch of hitdie...)
(9) Rilyrr: (on myself)
(3) Elorin: (I can understand not needing an attack roll. Simultaneously not allowing a save just doesn't make sense to me on something like this)
(10) Kaylin: What happened in there?
(9) Rilyrr: [3d8+15)
(9) Rilyrr: [3d8+15] -> [4,2,4,15] = (25)
(2) GM: Jason: The wall decided it didn't like heavy things.
** (12) Eldon Quickfoot stumbles out of the cave. **
** (8) Kibin follows. **
(3) Elorin: (the Holy Word type spells also have a HD limit for what they affect.)
(2) Jason: Wait a bit while Kibin deals with it.
(3) Elorin: (this trap had NONE of these limits)
(2) GM: (based on caster level; but yeah, CR 10 traps are rather nasty.)
(8) Kibin: (Crushing wall trap. Hmmmph.)
** (8) Kibin asks Elorin, "Healing would be really really really nice here..." **
(2) GM: (I just quckly grabbed a mechanical trap that was on the list of samples)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Aye.
(10) Kaylin: If we're dispensing the nice healing spells, I could use one. That dragon did hit me with a bit of it's breath, and that's more than stench damage.
(8) Kibin: Hmmmph. I got hit by the breath, and I hardly even noticed.
(2) GM: Jason: That's just because your nose isn't as delicate as the lovely elf's.
(3) Elorin: (grr, I still don't think that trap should be legal even if it is in the SRD, but here comes the healing)
(3) Elorin: (how much does everyone need?)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (62)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (63)
(2) GM: Everyone took in the neighborhood of 60 points of damage.
(10) Kaylin: Thank you, Jason.
(10) Kaylin: (I need about 14 or so)
(3) Elorin: (and 4 people to heal, if I'm counting it right)
(3) Elorin: (this should be more efficient than Heals all around...)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Mass Cure Light Wounds ( level 5, "Cures 1d8 damage +1/level for many creatures" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 5 Spell ( level 5, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [1d8+15] -> [5,15] = (20)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Mass Cure Light Wounds ( level 5, "Cures 1d8 damage +1/level for many creatures" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 5 Spell ( level 5, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [1d8+15] -> [5,15] = (20)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Mass Cure Light Wounds ( level 5, "Cures 1d8 damage +1/level for many creatures" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 5 Spell ( level 5, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [1d8+15] -> [5,15] = (20)
(10) Kaylin: (wow.)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Thank you, Elorin.
(2) GM: Leaving little but scratches.
(8) Kibin: (Still hurting.)
(8) Kibin: (Well, there's still a scratch.)
(10) Kaylin: You're such a useful person to have around.
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Light Wounds ( level 1, "Cures 1d8 damage +1/level (max +5)" )
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (That's a...1 in 512 chance)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 1 Spell ( level 1, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [1d8+5] -> [2,5] = (7)
(3) Elorin: (that fix your scratch, Kibin?)
** (8) Kibin brushes off a bit of silver blood from previously broken skin. **
(8) Kibin: (Yeah. :P)
(2) GM: Jason: Now that you're feeling better, Kibin, would you mind too terribly much taking care of that little detail?
(8) Kibin: Uh, sure...
(10) Kaylin: (back in a little bit, need to make some lunch)
** (8) Kibin does a quick sweep for the trap trigger... **
(8) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [12,19] = (31)
(3) Elorin: (oh wait, I remembered the maximum + wrong. Add 2 more points of healing on each cast)
whispering to Kibin, you find the pressure plate.
(8) Kibin: A simple pressure plate...
** (8) Kibin sets to work disabling the device, hoping for the best... **
(8) Kibin: [1d20+23] -> [20,23] = (43)
(9) Rilyrr: (how spacious is the cave?)
(2) GM: (Very; it was a Huge dragon)
whispering to Kibin, Not only do you see how to disable it, but you can even simply bypass it, with everyone, leaving it active behind you, if you so chose.
(8) Kibin: Hmmmmm.
(8) Kibin (whispering): Can I do the same coming back?
whispering to Kibin, you make both the search and disable device DC's on a natural 1. Taking 10 on the way back, you'll have no problems.
(8) Kibin (whispering): And how do I bypass it?
(3) Elorin: (Soooo, trap disabled, moving on?)
whispering to Kibin, Jam the pressure plate, tell everyone where not to step, then remove the jam when you leave.
** (8) Kibin sticks something under the pressure plate. "Okay, people, it should be safe now, just step on the plate nearest to me." **
(8) Kibin (whispering): Like that?
whispering to Kibin, works.
** (12) Eldon Quickfoot shrugs, grins and steps on the plate. **
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (What's the worth of playing a swashbuckler if you don't take risks?)
(8) Kibin: (On the plate I told you to? :P)
** (9) Rilyrr walks onto the plate **
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yep)
(8) Kibin: Just move on by...
** (3) Elorin follows instructions **
(3) Elorin: Perhaps we should have Kibin go first, looking for traps, from now on
(3) Elorin: That wall hurt
(8) Kibin: Well, what's the chances of a dragon installing a trap like that to protect it's hoard?
(2) GM: Jason: Pretty good?
(8) Kibin: Kaylin?
(8) Kibin: (Oh wait, Kaylin is AFKish.)
(2) GM: Out to Lunch, specifically.
(8) Kibin: (So does she go through too?)
(2) GM: Yep.
(2) GM: A little ways in, there's a very large door blocking further progress.
(2) GM: By the way - who all has Darkvision?
(8) Kibin: (Me! 120 feet of it.)
(3) Elorin: (low light vision. And I can cast Light or even Daylight if we need it)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eldon has Goggles of Night - Sixty feet)
(2) GM: Jason's got 60 foot, and Kaylin's not in, so is hand-waved past. After the first two turns, the cave is completely dark.
** (12) Eldon Quickfoot doesn't notice. **
(3) Elorin: Hold on a moment, I rather dislike walking blind
(8) Kibin: Wow, I really do have good night vision.
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Daylight ( level 3, "60-ft. radius of bright light" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: (on my bow)
(2) GM: What's the duration on that?
(3) Elorin: (10 min./level)
(3) Elorin: (170 minutes)
(2) GM: Nearly three hours - that should do....
(2) GM: At the big, hulking, iron door.....
(2) GM: With a keyhole 20 feet up.
** (12) Eldon Quickfoot stands away from it **
** (8) Kibin looks up at the keyhole. "Big door." **
(2) GM: The hinges are on your side of the door.
(8) Kibin: I'll go search for any more big smashy thingies...
(8) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [1,19] = (20)
(8) Kibin: (x.x)
(9) Rilyrr: Any objections to me breaking it down?
(8) Kibin: No, I can open it just fine.
whispering to Kibin, You don't find anything.
(9) Rilyrr: As you wish
(8) Kibin (whispering): Can I be unsure of that and search again, since I made such a low roll?
whispering to Kibin, Nope. Sorry.
** (8) Kibin hmmms. "Doesn't seem like any traps on it..." Kibin flies up to the keyhole, hovers there, and sets to work unlocking the door. **
(8) Kibin: (Hover is convinient.)
(8) Kibin: [1d20+17] -> [8,17] = (25)
** (3) Elorin stands back **
whispering to Kibin, the lock opens quite easily - which makes sense, as it's large enough for you to fit your head in.....
(8) Kibin: Okay. Now for the opening of the door.
** (8) Kibin drops back down to ground level. **
(8) Kibin: Could anyone that's not as small as me try and open the door?
(8) Kibin: (*listens to the chirping nonexistant crickets*)
(9) Rilyrr: (what size catagory are you?)
(8) Kibin: (Small.)
(3) Elorin: (in his dragon form, small)
(8) Kibin: (I'm a small dragon.)
(9) Rilyrr: Str check: [1d20+3] -> [18,3] = (21)
(3) Elorin: (he can change as big as medium)
(2) GM: The door doesn't budge.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eldon is a halfling)
(2) GM: Jason: Hmm... I suppose Kaylin could maybe turn you into something a little stronger....
(8) Kibin: Oookay. Any of you want to wait about fifty years or so until I can budge it?
(9) Rilyrr: Rilyrr casts Changestaff ( level 7, "staff can become a treant" )
(2) GM: And your staff becomes a Treant.
(2) GM: And there's room for it to stand upright.
(10) Kaylin: (back, after blowing up some food in the microwave)
(9) Rilyrr: [1d20+9] -> [18,9] = (27)
(8) Kibin: Or... that works.
(2) GM: (Messy)
(9) Rilyrr: (does that work?)
(2) GM: The door screeches open, very loudly.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (What kind?)
(2) GM: Fort saves, please.
(3) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+18] -> [1,18] = (19)
(9) Rilyrr: Fortitude save: [1d20+12] -> [11,12] = (23)
(3) Elorin: (ack)
(8) Kibin: [1d20+12] -> [9,12] = (21)
(10) Kaylin: Fortitude save: [1d20+11] -> [15,11] = (26)

(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Fortitude save: [1d20+13] -> [18,13] = (31)
whispering to Elorin, Elorin - you are now Deafened for two hours.
whispering to Rilyrr, You are now Deafened for one hour.
(2) GM: Jason: Wow. Glad I don't have real ears anymore.....
** (3) Elorin waits for the ringing in his ears to stop. When it doesn't... **
(2) GM: Beyond the door, you spy a few odd blue-spiked monstrosities. Roll for initiative.
(2) GM: Three of them.
(3) Elorin: (guess that'll have to wait, then)
(3) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [17,6] = (23)
(8) Kibin: [1d20+2] -> [14,2] = (16)
(10) Kaylin: Initiative: [1d20 + 6] -> [11,6] = (17)
(2) GM: [1d20+5] -> [20,5] = (25)
(9) Rilyrr: Initiave :(1d20+6]
(2) GM: Don't forget the -4 from Deafaned......
(9) Rilyrr: [1d20+6] -> [9,6] = (15)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+6] -> [5,6] = (11)
(9) Rilyrr: (ah, so 11 then)
(10) Kaylin: (that's all of us?)
(3) Elorin: (just me)
(2) GM: Just the two that failed the fort save.
(2) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [8,4] = (12)
(2) GM: [1d20+5] -> [7,5] = (12)
(2) GM: [1d20+5] -> [9,5] = (14)
(2) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [17,4] = (21)
(2) GM: Rilyrr, Eldon - tie; re-roll.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+6] -> [9,6] = (15)
(9) Rilyrr: [1d20+2] -> [17,2] = (19)
(2) GM: Elorin, Kaylin, Kibin, Jason, Monsters, Rilyrr, Eldon
(2) GM: (Treant uses Rilyrr's initiative count)
(2) GM: Elorin?
(8) Kibin: (I'm probally not going to get my sneak attack, am I?)
(10) Kaylin: (blue-spiked? May I make a knowledge roll for that?)
(2) GM: Sure. (The Planes)
(10) Kaylin: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+15] -> [15,15] = (30)
(2) GM: The monsters are large, about twice the height of a man.
** (3) Elorin activates his boots and opens fire **
whispering to Kaylin, Ice Devil, Lawful Evil Outsider.
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+32] -> [4,32] = (36)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [4,4,4,17,0] = (29)

(10) Kaylin: (why do I get the feeling that a machine gun would be slightly less effective than Elorin?)
(2) GM: Flat-footed AC 27 - five hits. DR does not apply.
(8) Kibin: (Because machine guns can only be masterwork weapons.)
(2) GM: [29+30+34+31+28] -> 152
(3) Elorin: (concentrate on one till it drops, then switch)
(3) Elorin: (if that's enough to drop one, that is)
(2) GM: On the last arrow, one drops to the ground.
(2) GM: Kaylin?
(10) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Fireball ( level 3, "1d6 damage per level, 20-ft. radius." )
(2) GM: By the way - you had those boots active for how many rounds last combat?
(8) Kibin: (How close are they? Within step full attack range?)
(10) Kaylin: (if they're close enough together to hit two at once, do that)
(3) Elorin: (I used them for 1 round against the dragon)
(2) GM: Unfortunately, they are spread a little thin....
(3) Elorin: (so this is the 2nd of 10 rounds for today)
(2) GM: Not close enough, sorry.
(2) GM: Reflex save: [1d20+14] -> [1,14] = (15)
(10) Kaylin: (ok, hit the furthest one)
(2) GM: Or rather, Reflex Not-save. Damage?
(10) Kaylin: SR: [1d20 + 21] -> [13,21] = (34) Damage: [10d6] -> [3,2,6,3,3,3,5,5,2,6] = (38)
(2) GM: The beast seems quite incensed at the burn. It's not too bad, though....
** (8) Kibin asks Kaylin, "What are these things?" **
(10) Kaylin: Ice devils, I believe.
(2) GM: Kibin?
(8) Kibin: (How far away is the closest one?)
(2) GM: Forty feet, for now.
** (8) Kibin runs up to one of the pointy thingies closest to him, and does stabbity doom with his teeth. **
(8) Kibin: [1d20+14] -> [13,14] = (27)
(8) Kibin: (Stabbity doom hits! :D)
(2) GM: Success - barely; damage (Sneak Attack Applies)
(2) GM: ?
(8) Kibin: [1d6+1+8d6] -> [6,1,6,2,1,3,4,6,1,2] = (32)
(8) Kibin: (Hehe. And two strength damage.)
(2) GM: DR also applies; it throws off a significant portion of the cut....
(2) GM: Jason's turn.....
(8) Kibin: (Tiny elemental thingie of doom? :)
(2) GM: Shield, Level 1: Invisible disc gives +4 to AC, blocks magic missiles
(2) GM: Jason guards himself, then heads over towards the nearest demon.
(2) GM: Ending 10 feet from it.
(2) GM: Monster's turn....
(2) GM: the farthest one Teleports over to the guy in leather, then roars.
(2) GM: Rilyrr, make a Will save.
(2) GM: Vs. Fear.
(9) Rilyrr: Will save: [1d20+18] -> [10,18] = (28)
(2) GM: Shaken for 1 round, but otherwise uneffected.
(9) Rilyrr: (I am deaf so if it is the roar it shouldnt effect me)
(2) GM: (Special affect of activation of a Su Fear Aura)
(8) Kibin: (Ooo! Do a cone of cold on me! I dare you to!)
(2) GM: And the one closest to Kibin steps back and concentrates.....
(2) GM: 50 or less succeeds: [1d100] -> [46] = (46)
(8) Kibin: (Meh.)
(2) GM: [1d6] -> [1] = (1)
(2) GM: A wierd red thing appears right next to Kaylin.
(2) GM: Rilyrr?
(10) Kaylin: (eep)
(2) GM: Knoweledge check?
(8) Kibin: (I wonder what Elorin spikes those hero's meals with.
(10) Kaylin: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+15] -> [8,15] = (23)
(9) Rilyrr: 5ft step back, cast SNA VIII for dire tigers [1d3] -> [3] = (3)
(9) Rilyrr: Rilyrr Tried to cast Earthquake but has used all of them for today, "Please rest so I can cast more."
whispering to Kaylin, Beareded Devel - Lawful, Evil
(9) Rilyrr: Rilyrr casts Finger of Death ( level 7, "Instantly slays one creature" )
(10) Kaylin: (whoa)
(10) Kaylin: (v1.6.3 is quite interesting)
(2) GM: Deafness spell failure chance?
(9) Rilyrr: 20 or lower fails (1d100]
(9) Rilyrr: [1d100] -> [83] = (83)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Good thing you didn't say 80 or higher)
(2) GM: One round casting time; next time your turn comes up, if uninterrupted.
(8) Kibin: (Yay! Dire tigers... ATTAC!)
(9) Rilyrr: treant attacks [1d20+12] -> [1,12] = (13)
(2) GM: And has trouble hitting so much as the cave floor.
(2) GM: Eldon?
(8) Kibin: (Rain halfling stabbity doom on everyone!)
(3) Elorin: (tumble over to flank with Kibin?)
(2) GM: What's your Move?
(8) Kibin: (HALFLING STABBITY DOOM! :P)|
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (How close is the closest one?)
(2) GM: 40 feet.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (For that matter, how far could Eldon tumble?)
(2) GM: Let's see... tumbling gets half your move, so.... not far.
(8) Kibin: (I'd walk.
(3) Elorin: (there's one by Rilyrr, one by Kibin, and the summoned thing next to Kaylin)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (30-foot walk)
** (8) Kibin hugs his AC() **
** (12) Eldon Quickfoot runs over to flank with Kibin **
(8) Kibin: (Okay. I'd run.)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (The ice devil, not the summoned thing.
(8) Kibin: (Or haste.)
(2) GM: So you could Hustle over (double move, 60 feet)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (No haste)
(2) GM: And get around....
(3) Elorin: (you can take a -10 penalty on the check to move at full speed while tumbling)
(2) GM: But provoke......
(3) Elorin: (only DC 15 to avoid AoO's)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (How so? 20 extra feet leaves plenty to avoid AoO with)
(2) GM: Large. To get around for flanking, you can't readily avoid.
(8) Kibin: (Comeon, you have good AC>
(3) Elorin: (you have high dex and max ranks, right? DC 25 to tumble at full speed shouldn't be too hard...)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah.)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Tumble Skill Check: [1d20+21] -> [12,21] = (33)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Tumble Skill Check: [1d20+21] -> [10,21] = (31)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Tumble Skill Check: [1d20+21] -> [2,21] = (23)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (One to tumble at half-speed, two more to avoid any AoO)
(3) Elorin: (unless you were passing by multiple enemies, you only needed the first check)
(8) Kibin: (So no flanking for me?)
(2) GM: Half-speed tumble gets you to 10 feet away as a full-round action. Seems no flanking yet.
(8) Kibin: (Meh.)
(2) GM: Elorin?
(3) Elorin: (but he was doing full speed, I think)
(8) Kibin: (Don't see why you couldn't have soaked in one freaking little AoO.)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Oh, sorry - I meant one to tumble at full speed)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Brain no worky)
(2) GM: Ah, that gets you there, then.
(3) Elorin: (it's not a separate check, just +10 to the normal DC)
(3) Elorin: (round 3 of haste for today)
(3) Elorin: (I assume both the summon and the one near Rilyrr are within 30 ft?)
(2) GM: Those two, yes.
(3) Elorin: (or can be with a 5 ft step)
(3) Elorin: (ok, kill the thing near the flimsy wizard first)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+32] -> [13,32] = (45)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [7,2,4,17,0] = (30)

(10) Kaylin: (flimsy?)
(3) Elorin: (crit threat on second shot...)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+32] -> [5,32] = (37)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [1,1,4,17,0] = (23)
(3) Elorin: (and [1d8+2d6+17] -> [7,6,6,17] = (36) more damage if it confirms on top of what was rolled above)
(8) Kibin: (What was uberpoked?)
(2) GM: The summoned critter shatters and dissapates on the second shot.
(3) Elorin: (not quite so flimsy since you got the amulet of health, but still not that great)
(8) Kibin: (Oh, that was uberpoked.)
(10) Kaylin: (I prefer delicate :P)
(8) Kibin: (Now who else to uberpoke!)
(3) Elorin: (the one that isn't already flanked by a sneak attacking rogue, that's who)
(8) Kibin: (Sweet, matrix revolutions while roleplaying. :P
(2) GM: The other three hit the one near Rilyrr?
(3) Elorin: (yes)
(2) GM: [28+29+27] -> 84
(2) GM: It takes quite a beating, but remains standing.
(2) GM: Kaylin?
(10) Kaylin: (hmm...)
(10) Kaylin: (do I have anything left that'd be effective...)
(10) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Haste ( level 3, "One creature/level moves faster, +1 on attack rolls, AC, and Reflex saves." )
(10) Kaylin: (party!)
(2) GM: And everyone's just speeding along....
(2) GM: Kibin?
(8) Kibin: (I get an extra attack now? :)
(2) GM: Yep.
(3) Elorin: (and +1 to hit)
(8) Kibin: (MUUWAAHAAHAA.)
(10) Kaylin: (someone's a bit happy)
** (8) Kibin is a silver slashing ball of sneak attack doom. **
(8) Kibin: [1d20+14] -> [8,14] = (22)
(8) Kibin: [1d20+14] -> [6,14] = (20)
(8) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [5,11] = (16)
(8) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [5,11] = (16)
(10) Kaylin: (*snicker*)
(8) Kibin: (That sucked. :P)
(9) Rilyrr: (did the haste hit my treant?)
(10) Kaylin: (if the treant is within range)
(3) Elorin: (probably not, everyone has to be within 30 ft of each other)
(2) GM: That just can't lay a finger on his target. Sure, he taps a few armored scales every now and again.....
** (8) Kibin grrrs. "Much easier to hit with my sword..." **
(2) GM: Ghost Telekenesis: Manuvers: Standard Action, Concentration: Combat Manuvers (Disarm, Trip, Grapple (Pin), Bull Rush) 12 rounds; +12 for Base Attack, +Cha Mod (10) for dex/str due to method), Wait: [1d4] -> [1] = (1)
(2) GM: Grapple the critter closest to the fragile spellcasters:Touch[1d20+22] -> [11,22] = (33); Grapple: [1d20+22] -> [6,22] = (28); opposed: [1d20+24] -> [11,24] = (35)
(2) GM: But it breaks loose of the force trying to contain it.
(2) GM: And it's the Monsters' turn....
(2) GM: The one between Kibin and Elorin concentrates.....
(2) GM: [1d20+23] -> [4,23] = (27)
(3) Elorin: (you mean Kibin and Eldon?)
(8) Kibin: (You mean eldon.)
(8) Kibin: (Now. Do I get to use pokey doom? :)
(2) GM: Right; Eldon; sorry, same first two letters....
(10) Kaylin: (this party has names that are waay too close to each other)
(3) Elorin: (I thought that one already summoned today)
(2) GM: And succeeds in casting Defensively.
(3) Elorin: (oh, right, a spell)
(2) GM: And... Kaylin, Elorin, Rilyrr, Jason - Reflex saves.
(9) Rilyrr: Reflex save: [1d20+7] -> [20,7] = (27)
(3) Elorin: Reflex save: [1d20+21] -> [20,21] = (41)
(2) GM: Reflex save: [1d20+12] -> [20,12] = (32)
(9) Rilyrr: (treant?}
(10) Kaylin: Reflex save: [1d20+10] -> [13,10] = (23)
** (3) Elorin dodges with contemptuous ease **
(10) Kaylin: (I'm probably sizzled...)
(2) GM: DC 20 - everyone saves (yes, Treatnt too)
** (8) Kibin wonders what everyone is dodging for. **
(2) GM: Damage: [15d6] -> [4,6,1,2,2,3,5,5,5,3,4,4,5,6,6] = (61)
(10) Kaylin: (chain lightning?)
(9) Rilyrr: [1d20+1] -> [9,1] = (10)
(2) GM: Rilyrr - you're actively casting - make a Concentration check.
(10) Kaylin: (that'd be useful, come to think of it...)
(9) Rilyrr: Concetration Skill Check: [1d20+21] -> [15,21] = (36)
(2) GM: Treant fails, and takes full damage.
(2) GM: Sorry, lost the spell.
(2) GM: (DC 10 + spell level + damage dealt = 10+30+8)
(3) Elorin: (you might want to dismiss Changestaff now if you don't want to have to make another staff)
(9) Rilyrr: (making staves is easy but yeah)
(2) GM: And a blast of cold comes ripping out of the Creature's hand.....
(2) GM: (Changestaff requires a specially prepared staff, no?)
(9) Rilyrr: (wood shape)
(3) Elorin: (which takes 28 days to make, during which you can't go adventuring)
(8) Kibin: (Haha.)
(2) GM: (Wood Shape doesn't qualify for the special, ritualistic preoparations)
(8) Kibin: (It's the subway you can't get out of.)
(2) GM: (Gah! Stupid keyboard!)
(9) Rilyrr: (perhaps}
(2) GM: The other devil decides that it's a really bad idea to let that crazy archer continue uninterrupted, steps back, and concentrates....
(8) Kibin: (Seraph kicks butt. :P)
(10) Kaylin: ('archer'? 'siege weapon' is more like it)
(8) Kibin: (I'm special ops.)
(2) GM: And a wall of ice starts to form around Elorin... who isn't himself close enough to disrupt it. Rilyrr, Reflex save.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eldon is special forces)
(9) Rilyrr: Reflex save: [1d20+7] -> [6,7] = (13)
(8) Kibin: (Then what am I? :P)
(10) Kaylin: (cannon fodder)
(2) GM: Unfortunately, Rilyrr can't stop it in time, and Elorin is encapsulated.
(2) GM: Rilyrr?
(8) Kibin: (*stabs Kaylin*)
(10) Kaylin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+31] -> [6,31] = (37)
(10) Kaylin: (wall of Ice, I presume)
whispering to Kaylin, Wall of Ice.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Special forces != special ops)
whispering to Kaylin, Correct as usual
(10) Kaylin: (great, so I'm the barracks entertainment? :P)
(10) Kaylin: (with a bazooka)
(8) Kibin: (No. You're heavy weaponry.)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (No - Eldon is more combat-oriented. You're more sneaky-oriented)
(9) Rilyrr: (how much of an action to pick stuff up?)
(2) GM: Rilyrr?
(8) Kibin: (Yup. Sneaky oriented, that can kick butt. :)
(2) GM: Move, provokes.
(9) Rilyrr: I dismiss the spell and pick up the staff
(9) Rilyrr: (he gets an AoO)
(2) GM: And the critter, being large, has room to take his AoO....
(2) GM: [1d20+20] -> [1,20] = (21)
(8) Kibin: (That. Sucked.)
(2) GM: And he hits the ground.
(2) GM: Eldon?
(9) Rilyrr: (should have had treant attack first but oh well)
(10) Kaylin: (dunno, he probably missed the ground)
(9) Rilyrr: (wait)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Attack - Full attack?)
(9) Rilyrr: I cast the charged FoD from my staff
(9) Rilyrr: Concetration Skill Check: [1d20+21] -> [1,21] = (22)
(3) Elorin: (unless that's a free action, you'll have to wait)
(3) Elorin: (dismissing a spell is a standard action)
(2) GM: Casting defensively was... 15 + spell level?
(9) Rilyrr: (it is? ok then)
(2) GM: Umm... that doesn't work; Dismissing is a standard action, grabbing the staff is a move action......
(10) Kaylin: (ouch)
(2) GM: Eldon - full attack away.
(2) GM: If you wish.
(3) Elorin: (and pull out all your nifty bonuses that don't work on critters immune to crits :D)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hmm...Not sure what his attack is at.)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah, there)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Probably close enough)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+18] -> [11,18] = (29)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+18] -> [3,18] = (21)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+18] -> [4,18] = (22)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+18] -> [5,18] = (23)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (...Well, that sucked)
(8) Kibin: (Pokes of doomy doom.)
(3) Elorin: (16+str or dex+magic+1 for Heroes' Feast)
(2) GM: Umm... 18/13/7/2?
(8) Kibin: (I get bonuses from heroes' feast?)
(2) GM: Even with the Flanking, nothing gets past the beasts AC.
(2) GM: The critter laughs at the pitiful attacks.
(8) Kibin: (It has above 31 AC? O.o)
(2) GM: Elorin?
(3) Elorin: (if either your strength or dex are above 10, your attack bonus should be higher)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Allergies, cold or flu pretty much kill my IQ)
(3) Elorin: (you get 18 just from BAB, enhancement, and Heroes' Feast)
(10) Kaylin: (allergies? ouch. Hate those things)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (20, then)
(2) GM: Ah, 20/20/15/10?
(8) Kibin: (Plus 2 from flanking bonus.)
(2) GM: So one attack gets through - the first; roll for damage.
(3) Elorin: (20/20/15/10/5, actually)
(8) Kibin: (And I shall take my AoO, then. Right?)
(2) GM: Right.
(8) Kibin: [1d20+14] -> [19,14] = (33)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d4+2d6] -> [4,6,6] = (16)
(8) Kibin: [1d6+1+8d6] -> [6,1,5,2,3,2,4,2,3,5] = (33)
(8) Kibin: (Poke of doom! :P)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (2d6 if Holy damage gets through. Another 1d6 if flaming gets through)
(2) GM: Dr applies; beast takes 2 str damage, 29 damage.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Oh yeah. Ice devils)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d6] -> [6] = (6)
(3) Elorin: (don't forget +int to damage)
(2) GM: Flaming takes a standard action to activate - which you haven't done.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (24 damage...32 damage, then)
(10) Kaylin: (+int or +int mod?)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (26 damage)
(3) Elorin: (int mod, of course)
(2) GM: What's your Int modifier?
(2) GM: +8?
(2) GM: so 37 taken.
(2) GM: Elorin?
(2) GM: You are currently stuck in a globe of ice.
(3) Elorin: (let's see, Wall of Ice isn't particularly difficult to break just by attacking repeatedly, right?)
(2) GM: (Right)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (26/+8)
** (3) Elorin continues shooting at the Devil that cast Wall of Ice, shattering a hole in the wall first **
(3) Elorin: (round 4 of haste)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+32] -> [1,32] = (33)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [2,3,1,17,0] = (23)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+32] -> [7,32] = (39)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [4,4,3,17,0] = (28)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+32] -> [18,32] = (50)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [3,4,3,17,0] = (27)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 3) Attack Roll: [1d20+27] -> [19,27] = (46)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [3,1,5,17,0] = (26)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 4) Attack Roll: [1d20+22] -> [16,22] = (38)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [5,1,6,17,0] = (29)
(3) Elorin: (take off the holy damage against the wall)
(2) GM: Fortunately, you can hit a wall of ice automatically, so the critical miss doesn't matter....
(3) Elorin: (ooh, good thing that 1 was on an automatic hit)
(2) GM: [19+21] -> 40
(2) GM: and the second arrow breaches the wall.
(3) Elorin: (and I 5 ft step towards the gap)
(2) GM: Three hits. vs. your target, for [27+26+29] -> 82
(2) GM: Which falls after the first hit, and dies after the second.
(10) Kaylin: (that all of them?)
(2) GM: Taking the third shot? Nothing in line for the hole other than the other section of wall.
(2) GM: And allies.
** (3) Elorin stops shooting after it dies **
(2) GM: Kaylin?
(2) GM: One left standing.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (BRB - Eldon can just whack at stuff - NPC him)
(10) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Phantasmal Killer ( level 4, "Fearsome illusion kills subject or deals 3d6 damage." )
(2) GM: SR?
(10) Kaylin: SR: [1d20 + 21] -> [19,21] = (40)
(2) GM: Success; save: Will: [1d20+15] -> [14,15] = (29); Fort: [1d20+15] -> [5,15] = (20)
(2) GM: DC?
(10) Kaylin: (not 29)
(2) GM: So nothing much happens.
(2) GM: Kibin?
** (8) Kibin continues being a slashling shiney ball of doom. **
(8) Kibin: [1d20+14] -> [1,14] = (15)
(8) Kibin: [1d20+14] -> [20,14] = (34)
(8) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [15,11] = (26)
(8) Kibin: [1d20+11] -> [18,11] = (29)
(2) GM: Roll for crit confirmation.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Back
(8) Kibin: [1d20+14] -> [16,14] = (30)
(2) GM: Not confirmed. One hit, roll for damage, sneak attack applies.
(3) Elorin: (too bad sneak attack damage isn't multiplied by crits)
(8) Kibin: [1d6+1+8d6] -> [5,1,1,6,5,3,6,3,1,1] = (32)
(8) Kibin: (Guess why?)
(2) GM: Oh, wait - flanking - i DID crit - so an extra 6 points of damage.
(8) Kibin: (Weeee 6 points.)
(2) GM: DR applies.
(8) Kibin: (32 AC?)
(2) GM: (Yep)
(8) Kibin: (Yay me smart with math.)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: [2+2=5...)
(2) GM: Something not adding up?
(2) GM: Jason's turn....
(2) GM: Try grabbing the demon again....
(2) GM: Touch: [1d20+22] -> [2,22] = (24); Hold: [1d20+22] -> [2,22] = (24); Resist: [1d20+18] -> [4,18] = (22)
(2) GM: Ah, did the math wrong; it's at -3 to it's grapple from Str damage, not -6. Touch succeeds, but Jason still just can't get a grip on the slippery hide of the creature.
(2) GM: The remaining critter, seeing it's losing rather badly, concentrates....
(2) GM: [1d20+23] -> [20,23] = (43)
(2) GM: and vanishes.
(9) Rilyrr: (the dragons guards were stronger then it...)
(8) Kibin (whispering): What does my blindsense say about it?
whispering to Kibin, it's gone.
(10) Kaylin: Jason, did it go invisible?
(8) Kibin: I guess that's it, then?
(8) Kibin: No, it's not invisible.
(2) GM: (three CR 13 ICE BASED critters, vs. a CR 15 dragon.)
(8) Kibin: It's gone.
(10) Kaylin: (And you know this based on...? :P)
(8) Kibin: (Blindsense. Duh.)
(10) Kaylin: (ah, right)
** (10) Kaylin sidles over to one of the corpsies **
(2) GM: As a group, they were stronger; individually? Far from it.
(10) Kaylin: I wonder if it had any good loot...
(2) GM: Which?
(10) Kaylin: (whichever is closer)
(8) Kibin (whispering): So is the hoard nearby?
(3) Elorin: (looking around, are there any other halls/doors, or is this the extent of it?)
(2) GM: There's more hallway heading further back.
(8) Kibin: I'll go further on down...
** (8) Kibin searches down the hall. **
(2) GM: Around a bit of a bend.
(8) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [16,19] = (35)
(2) GM: So Kibin goes round the bend?
** (3) Elorin checks the bodies for magic stuff **
(8) Kibin: (Yes. :P)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Detect Magic ( level 0, "Detects spells and magic items within 60 ft." )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 0 Spell ( level 0, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: (oh yeah, deafness: 20 or lower fails [1d100] -> [81] = (81))
(8) Kibin: (There's afreaking dragon horde, what more do you want?)
** (12) Eldon Quickfoot follows Kibin **
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Swashbucklers are permanently around the bend)
** (9) Rilyrr follows about 30 feet back **
** (10) Kaylin stays with Elorin the Medkit **
(3) Elorin: Kaylin, my ears are still ringing from that door opening, could you use your prayer beads to fix it?
(3) Elorin: (I could do it myself, but it would take a much higher level spell)
(8) Kibin (whispering): And what does our glorious GM say happen?
(10) Kaylin: (wow, I still have those)
(10) Kaylin: Certainly.
(3) Elorin: Thank you
(10) Kaylin: (how does this work?)
** (3) Elorin finishes scanning for magic on the bodies, then follows everyone around the bend **
(8) Kibin: (We're in limbo right now.)
(10) Kaylin: (oh, it's under 's')
(2) GM: Okay - Elorin finds treasure.
(2) GM: Everyone gets the nodes?
(8) Kibin: (Yes. Now about what's beyond the bend?)
(2) GM: Another door. This one also iron.
(8) Kibin: Oh joy. Another door!
whispering to Kibin, and traped.
** (12) Eldon Quickfoot stands back **
** (8) Kibin does a quick search for traps... **
** (10) Kaylin stays waaay back **
(8) Kibin (whispering): So I know there's a trap?
whispering to Kibin, used your last search check - the 38 covers it.
(8) Kibin: Ooo, a trap. Oh joy.
(9) Rilyrr: (same size?)
** (8) Kibin starts fiddling with the door. **
(2) GM: Yes. Huge door.
(8) Kibin: [1d20+23] -> [9,23] = (32)
whispering to Kibin, Fortunately, you know that didn't quite work out.
(8) Kibin (whispering): So me can fiddle more?
whispering to Kibin, yep.
(8) Kibin: [1d20+23] -> [3,23] = (26)
(8) Kibin: (Doh. :P)
whispering to Kibin, Ouch.
(2) GM: Who all is still deaf from earlier?
(9) Rilyrr: (I am)
(2) GM: Cool. Everyone else, Fort save.
(3) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+18] -> [15,18] = (33)
(8) Kibin (whispering): Instant death effects aren't fun. :P
(8) Kibin: [1d20+12] -> [2,12] = (14)
(8) Kibin: (SURE! Low roll. :P)
(10) Kaylin: Fortitude save: [1d20+11] -> [12,11] = (23)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Fortitude save: [1d20+13] -> [16,13] = (29)
(2) GM: Eldon? Fort save?
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (I'm pretty sure my Fort is still standing)
(2) GM: A piercing screech comes from the door.... and Kibin drops dead.
(10) Kaylin: (wow.)
(8) Kibin (whispering): Told you it's no fun. x.x
(2) GM: Everyone else is fine (barely - DC 23)
(9) Rilyrr: Impressive trap...
(10) Kaylin: (whew)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (...Uh...)
(10) Kaylin: So. He's dead again.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: This happens a lot?
(10) Kaylin: Well... mostly just to him and me.
(10) Kaylin: I suppose we'd better not go further 'til we can bring him back, unless one of us is able to disable traps well?
(8) Kibin (whispering): Oh well, you usually have some type of scroll read if one of us dies... or plot device...
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: That is something that was left out of my training.
whispering to Kibin, Or something evil....
(8) Kibin (whispering): Yes. x.x
(2) GM: Jason: Oh, here - I'll go look....
(2) GM: Jason walks through the door.
(2) GM: A few moments later, he returns.
(3) Elorin: Well, I could revive him, but not without some reduction in skill just yet.
(2) GM: Jason: Looks safe, if we can get past the door without hitting the trap again. Hoard just on the other side. Seems the dragon wanted a layer of security between his hoard and his security....
(3) Elorin: (still 2 levels to go before I get True Res :( )
(2) GM: Jason: Anyone got a way of killing a door?
(3) Elorin: (door still closed, that was just from failing to disable the trap?)
(10) Kaylin: If we want to come back tomorrow, a Disintegrate would take it down nicely.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: ...Elorin seems good at taking out nearly anything.
(2) GM: (Critical Disable Device failure)
(3) Elorin: Throw a few boulders at it?
** (3) Elorin grins at Jason **
(8) Kibin: (Hey. Rilyrr wanted to destroy the door the other time.)
(9) Rilyrr: (im deaf, I cannt hear your suggestions)
(2) GM: Jason: Rilyrr?
(10) Kaylin: (Is this something I could make a Spellcraft check to ID?)
(2) GM: Yes.
(10) Kaylin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+31] -> [20,31] = (51)
(2) GM: Jason walks in front of Rilyrr, then gestures at the door, and gives him a quizzical look.
(10) Kaylin: (yay!)
whispering to Kaylin, Wail of the Banshee
(3) Elorin: Just, uh, let the rest of us back off a bit first
(9) Rilyrr: Ah! Now I shall show you the true power of nature, stand back please.
(10) Kaylin: Hang on a moment.
(10) Kaylin: Why don't we get really far back?
** (3) Elorin stands way back **
(10) Kaylin: Say, 100 feet?
** (12) Eldon Quickfoot stands back **
** (10) Kaylin scuttles away behind everyone else and covers her ears **
** (9) Rilyrr begains casting SNA VII **
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: * The exact height of the door, plus one foot.
(9) Rilyrr: dire bears [1d3] -> [1] = (1)
(2) GM: Deafness check?
(9) Rilyrr: 20 lower fails [1d100] -> [82] = (82)
(9) Rilyrr: Rilyrr casts Animate Plants ( level 7, "Plants gain quasilife and mobility" )
(3) Elorin: (how many times have we said that and got 80+? :P)
(10) Kaylin: (every time, so far)
(9) Rilyrr: (how much room is left in the corridor?)
(10) Kaylin: (the dice are playing games with us today)
(2) GM: A fair amount; you have plenty of space.
(9) Rilyrr: Rilyrr casts Animal Growth ( level 5, "up to 7 animals grow 1 size, +8 str +4 con" )
(9) Rilyrr: [1d100] -> [6] = (6)
(9) Rilyrr: (curses)
(2) GM: The bear wonders why the druid is making funny noises to no effect.
(9) Rilyrr: bear damage [2d4+12] -> [2,1,12] = (15)
(9) Rilyrr: bear damage [2d4+12] -> [4,1,12] = (17)
(9) Rilyrr: bear damage [2d4+12] -> [2,4,12] = (18)
(9) Rilyrr: bear damage [2d4+12] -> [2,2,12] = (16)
(8) Kibin: (Hey, I wonder if you could just plop a bunch of badgers down.)
(10) Kaylin: (badgerbadgerbadger time? :P)
(2) GM: Let's see... you get 14 rounds, so 14 attacks; Iron has hardness... 10, I think it was?
(9) Rilyrr: (until the bear or the door dies)
(9) Rilyrr: (that would be evil)
(2) GM: [5+7+8+6] -> 26
(2) GM: 26 damage done in scrapes on the door; still standing.
(9) Rilyrr: (2 claw attacks per round)
(2) GM: Ah. So 12 more rounds, 24 more attacks.
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [1,4,12] = (17)
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [4,3,12] = (19)
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [4,4,12] = (20)

(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [3,4,12] = (19)
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [2,2,12] = (16)
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [2,4,12] = (18)
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [1,4,12] = (17)
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [3,3,12] = (18)
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [2,3,12] = (17)
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [1,1,12] = (14)
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [2,1,12] = (15)
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [3,2,12] = (17)
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [3,3,12] = (18)
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [1,4,12] = (17)
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [1,4,12] = (17)
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [4,4,12] = (20)
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [1,4,12] = (17)
(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [2,2,12] = (16)

(9) Rilyrr: [2d4+12] -> [3,2,12] = (17)
(2) GM: Umm... how about we do this the easy way; 24 attacks at 2d4+12-10 each = [48d4+48] -> [3,2,3,4,1,1,2,4,4,3,2,1,2,3,3,3,3,3,1,3,3,2,3,4,3,2,4,1,1,1,2,2,4,4,2,4,2,1,2,4,2,2,3,2,4,4,2,3,48] = (172)
(9) Rilyrr: b
(10) Kaylin: (That works too)
(9) Rilyrr: (fair amount of damage)
(2) GM: And the bear manages to scrape a hole just big enough for a medium sized creature to squeeze through before vanishing.
(8) Kibin: (Lalalalala.)
(10) Kaylin: Not the most elegant solution I've ever seen...
** (9) Rilyrr walks through the hole **
** (8) Kibin lies there on the ground. **
(2) GM: Squeezes - escape artist check?
(2) GM: (dex)
** (9) Rilyrr wild shapes into a badger and goes through **
** (10) Kaylin walks over to Kibin's corpse and picks him up **
(2) GM: And, as a small creature, has no problems.
** (3) Elorin squeezes through **
** (12) Eldon Quickfoot walks through the hole **
(2) GM: Escape artist Check, Elorin?
(3) Elorin: (do I need to make a check with my ring?)
(3) Elorin: Escape Artist Skill Check: [1d20+6-2] -> [19,6,-2] = (23) (includes Armor Penalty of -2)
(2) GM: (Ah, good point.....)
(2) GM: Jason just ignores the hole and walks through anyway....
(2) GM: Jason: Kaylin - you coming?
** (10) Kaylin goes through, carring Kibin along for the ride **
(2) GM: Escape artist check?
(10) Kaylin: Escape Artist Skill Check: [1d20+2] -> [9,2] = (11)
(2) GM: The pretty elven lady gets stuck, and the sharp, rough iron edges dig into her flesh... [3d6] -> [5,3,4] = (12)
(10) Kaylin: Ouch! Stupid things..
(2) GM: Jason: If you let me hold you for a moment, I think I can get you out of there....
** (8) Kibin wonders why Kaylin didn't do a etheral jaunt.() **
(10) Kaylin: (don't have one prepared)
(9) Rilyrr: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+27] -> [18,27] = (45)
(10) Kaylin: (we haven't rested since all of that stuff I had to do at the King's place, so... I'm really low on spells)
(9) Rilyrr: (do I spot a dragon hoard?)
(2) GM: Yes.
** (3) Elorin checks the scrolls **
(8) Kibin: (Yay coins.)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Read Magic ( level 0, "Read scrolls and spellbooks" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 0 Spell ( level 0, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: (and then detect magic on the rest)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Detect Magic ( level 0, "Detects spells and magic items within 60 ft." )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 0 Spell ( level 0, "Spell slot tracking device" )
** (10) Kaylin tries to wriggle free **
(10) Kaylin: Escape Artist Skill Check: [1d20+2] -> [3,2] = (5)
(10) Kaylin: (ok, THAT was counterproductive.)
(8) Kibin: (Haha.)
(2) GM: Take another [3d6] -> [1,4,1] = (6) from the sharp edges.
(3) Elorin: (hehe, key Kibin, feel like another Reincarnation? :P)
(9) Rilyrr: Now that you have found your treasure are you happy? This endevor cost one of you his life.
(2) GM: Jason: Really, I can get you out of there.....
(3) Elorin: (we've got a scroll of True Reincarnate here)
(8) Kibin: (Heck no. I hate level loss. :P)
(10) Kaylin: (lol, Elorin...)
(8) Kibin: (x.x)
(10) Kaylin: Jason, please do so.
(10) Kaylin: These things are a little bit sharp.
** (9) Rilyrr wild shapes back to human **
(2) GM: Ghost Malevolence: Will Save DC 25 (15 + Ghost's Cha modifier) or possess subject
(2) GM: Dimension Door, Level 4: Teleports you short distance
(2) GM: Jason posesses Kaylin (unless she tries for a Will save), then teleports inside the room
(2) GM: And lets her go.
(10) Kaylin: (no save)
(10) Kaylin: Thanks, you're really nice to have around.
(3) Elorin: (hmm, what happens to Kibin's dragon HD if we use this scroll on him?)
(2) GM: Jason: Ah, but I wouldn't be able to use any of the wealth I've garnered if you weren't nearby.
(8) Kibin: (Why do DMs always have to be evil? :P)
(10) Kaylin: (it's their job)
(10) Kaylin: Well. How about we gather this lot up real quick, and get out of here before something else decides to come along?
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (It's not evil. See, the game isn't fun if interesting things don't happen. Sometimes, those interesting things are nasty to the characters, but their fictional anyway)
(10) Kaylin: And then we can, perhaps, rest for the night?
(8) Kibin: (But I'm attached to my characters.
(2) GM: Jason: What? You think anyone's getting past that wall? Or maybe, they will have no trouble getting through the hole in the door... with all of us, armed, standing right here....
(2) GM: Speaking of which - who's taking which scroll?
(10) Kaylin: I am not confident that the dragon did not leave additional traps for us
(10) Kaylin: (/me doesn't want to touch a scroll now :P)
(9) Rilyrr: (is the door the only exit?)
(2) GM: The only visible prepared exit, yes.
(3) Elorin: (how are we dealing with Kibin? True Reincarnation, Resurrection, or try to find someone who can cast True Resurrection even though it would leave Kibin with nothing to do for a while?)
(10) Kaylin: (let's ask Kibby)
(8) Kibin: (You people do know that if you want out of here in mostly one piece, you'd need me to redisable the door?)
(2) GM: Known location + Dimension Door.
(8) Kibin: (True.)
(3) Elorin: (or Teleport)
(8) Kibin: (Hey, let's get friendly old old man to help us. :P)
(3) Elorin: (hmm, there is the technique the Archmage infirmary routinely used)
(3) Elorin: (summon a Solar and negotiate with it to revive him)
(8) Kibin: (Yes. Which maybe he'll be willing to use to find out more about the spell...)
(8) Kibin: (Which if I'm reincarnated, he won't find out about...)
(8) Kibin: (*watches tumbleweeds fly across*)
(2) GM: Jason: So, shall we gather the loot?
(9) Rilyrr: We should rest first, this is a defensable area whereas we may be attacked on the way out.
(3) Elorin: We have two ways on hand to revive Kibin, but I'm not sure which he'd prefer. The old man (did he ever give us his name?) may be able to help us with a third alternative that I know he would prefer, so how about we gather the treasure and get back over there to talk with him?
(2) GM: (No, he's been rather evasive about his name)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: And if nothing else, we can sell the treasure and pay for a True Resurection.
(10) Kaylin: Though I like Rilyrr's idea, I would feel safer resting wherever the Teacher is.
(3) Elorin: Oh, and do you have Analyze Dweomer prepared?
(10) Kaylin: That's another thing that shall have to wait. My mind is wandering too much to prepare anything.
(3) Elorin: Oh well
** (3) Elorin piles everything into his haversack and Kaylin's bag of holding and any other extradimensional storage space the party provides. **
(2) GM: So, which of you are currently carrying the scrolls?
** (10) Kaylin helps Elorin, so probably one of us **
(3) Elorin: (1 me, 2 Kaylin: [1d2] -> [1] = (1))
(9) Rilyrr: I have a small bag of holding if you need more space
whispering to GM, [1d9] -> [2] = (2)
whispering to GM, Good/neutral/Evil[1d3] -> [2] = (2); Law/Neutral/Chaos[1d3] -> [1] = (1)
whispering to Elorin, As you currently hold the item in question, become Lawful-Neutral, and lose your spellcasting and all class features other than saves, BAB, and HP.
(10) Kaylin: This should be sufficient, though equitable division shall have to wait until I identify the lot.
(10) Kaylin: (oh wonderful, rain got into my calculus notes... can't read a thing)
(3) Elorin (whispering): er, I notice this immediately and dislike the change, right?
whispering to Elorin, No, you just adore being Lawful......
whispering to Elorin, After all, can't let those squish emotions get in the way of obedience....
(10) Kaylin: (*poke*)
(8) Kibin: (You people need to make the plot MOVE. Not just stagnate.)
(2) GM: Jason: Well, shall we be off, then?
** (9) Rilyrr falls asleep **
(2) GM: Jason: Oh, and if we hurry.....
(2) GM: Shadow Conjouration, Level 4: Mimics conjuration below 4th level, but only 20% real
** (10) Kaylin tries to wake up Rilyrr **
(2) GM: Jason summons up a fake Celestial Monkey
** (9) Rilyrr wakes up **
(2) GM: I can Dimension Door past the iron for anyone who's a little to large to head through the hole....
(2) GM: Ghost Malevolence: Will Save DC 25 (15 + Ghost's Cha modifier) or possess subject
(2) GM: Jason walks into the monkey, and then holds out his paws
(10) Kaylin: Sounds good.
(2) GM: Jason: Anyone coming?
(10) Kaylin: I'd appreciate that.
(10) Kaylin: I will.
** (9) Rilyrr wild shapes back into a badger, goes through the hole then returns to normal **
** (12) Eldon Quickfoot shrugs and follows **
** (3) Elorin walks through the gap **
** (10) Kaylin goes over to Jason-monkey **
(2) GM: And Jason D-Doors past the wall.
(2) GM: Then lets go of the monkey.
(2) GM: Dimension Door, Level 4: Teleports you short distance
(2) GM: The trip out is relatively uneventful, until the crushing section from earlier....
(2) GM: Jason: Umm... it was a floor trigger, I think he said? Anyone want a lift?
** (3) Elorin looks for the jammed plate and is careful to only step on it **
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Jump Skill Check: [1d20+21] -> [20,21] = (41)
(8) Kibin: (Uh, it's not jammed any more. :P)
(2) GM: Unfortunately, Kibin only bypased it......
(10) Kaylin: I think I'll take you up on that offer, Jason.
(2) GM: [18d6] -> [1,6,3,3,2,6,2,2,1,2,3,3,3,4,6,2,4,4] = (57)
(9) Rilyrr: Rilyrr casts Air Walk ( level 4, "walk on air as if it were ground" )
(2) GM: (Just on Elorin)
(3) Elorin: (spot check to notice that before I step?)
(2) GM: Oh, I suppose.....
(3) Elorin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [4,10] = (14)
(2) GM: Ghost Telekenesis: Lift Opponent: Standard Action, Concentration: Off Ground 12 rounds (if under 300 lbs, Will save DC 25), Wait: [1d4] -> [4] = (4)
(2) GM: Sorry.
(2) GM: Jason attempts to carry Kaylin across (ater the wall retracts, having smashed Elorin up a bit)
** (3) Elorin tries to heal himself... and nothing happens **
(2) GM: Jason: Umm... care for a lift?
(3) Elorin: Huh, something in the treasure must be cursed and preventing my spellcasting from working.
** (3) Elorin starts sorting through the treasure methodically, trying to cast a minor cure spell after discarding each item **
(9) Rilyrr: (the trap is stuff falling from the ceiling correct?)
(2) GM: Nope; crushing Wall - it sweeps a large area, slamming everyone very hard up against the far wall
(2) GM: Just Elorin, though, as everyone else was careful about it.
(9) Rilyrr: (but its coming from a stone wall?)
(2) GM: Right. Any particular reason?
(9) Rilyrr: (can I seal it with a wall of stone?)
(2) GM: It would still attempt to move when triggered - if your wall of stone had the HP to survive the impact, yes.
(8) Kibin: (How about you just let jason move you over like everyone else?)
(9) Rilyrr: (im flying, so I can just fly across)
(8) Kibin: (Please do.)
whispering to Elorin, and you find that the curse was in an alteration of some kind dropping the item, whatever it was, doesn't undo it.
** (9) Rilyrr flys across **
(3) Elorin: Kaylin, do you have Remove Curse prepared?
** (3) Elorin packs the treasure back up **
(10) Kaylin: I have one prepared.
(10) Kaylin: Having trouble with the dragon's hoard?
(3) Elorin: Something in it seems to be cursed, preventing me from spellcasting
(10) Kaylin: Wow.
(9) Rilyrr: Where are we going now?
(2) GM: Jason: Probably not a good idea to try the curse removal while you're still carrying it; how about I get you across safely, we find somewhere to hole up while Kaylin prepares to Analyize everything, and we get rid o of the curse after we know what causes it.
(10) Kaylin: Next cave over to see the Teacher.
(8) Kibin: (Old man...)
(10) Kaylin: (he's a teacher to Kaylin.)
(2) GM: (although Rilyrr's never heard him refferred to in that context.....)
(2) GM: (Ditto for Eldon)
(10) Kaylin: (oh, right.)
(2) GM: Ping?
(8) Kibin: (Boop.)
(3) Elorin: (pong)
(2) GM: Elorin? Any responses to Jason's suggestion?
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Pong)
(3) Elorin: That's logical.
(3) Elorin: Let's go.
(2) GM: Jason: Well, just remember to relax, then.....
(2) GM: Ghost Telekenesis: Lift Opponent: Standard Action, Concentration: Off Ground 12 rounds (if under 300 lbs, Will save DC 25), Wait: [1d4] -> [1] = (1)
(2) GM: Jason attempts to carry Elorin across the trigger, wihtouth hitting the floor.
(8) Kibin: (So what exactly is life like on the other side? :P)
whispering to Kibin, as a neutral-good? Not too bad; a little boring, maybe.
(2) GM: So everyone goes to see the "Old Man"
(8) Kibin (whispering): Boring? :P
whispering to Kibin, sitting there, singing hymns..... no fights.....
(2) GM: ?
** (9) Rilyrr goes to see the old man **
(10) Kaylin: (yep)
(8) Kibin: (I guess so. Although I don't have a say in the matter.)
(8) Kibin: (Visual effects by giant killer robots? O.o)
(2) GM: Old Man: Well, I see you've returned. Where's Kibin?
(8) Kibin: (Kaylin would probally be carrying the corpse of me.)
(9) Rilyrr: He was killed by his greed.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: He's dead. We're hoping it can be made temporary.
(2) GM: Old Man: Ah, well, that can be fixed. As I recall, one of the things I left for another to find was a scroll I couldn't use; a nature-priest wouldn't have any difficulty with it, though.
(2) GM: Old Man: And if the dragon that picked it up is dead, well... you probably have it by now.
(10) Kaylin: You wouldn't happen to recall leaving something behind that inhibits casting?
(2) GM: Old Man: No.... I did leave something behind that was cursed .... but it shouldn't interfere with spellcasting, in and of itself.
(2) GM: Old Man: Well, unless you're a priest or something.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Well, that explains that.
(10) Kaylin: Ah, right.
(2) GM: Old man: Don't tell me - that nature guy you were talking to when I walked up has it?
(3) Elorin: We found that, but we think he'd prefer True Resurrection, if that could be arranged. I seem to recall the infirmary summoning Solars and such for services of that type back when the Archmage Tower was intact, and we were wondering if you could do anything of that sort to help us
(3) Elorin: I'm the one that picked up the curse, and I'd rather like my spellcasting back.
(2) GM: Old man: I can't manage a Solar... a Planatar, maybe, but not a Solar.
(2) GM: Old Man: Ah, I see... well, dump it out; I can tell you which one it is....
(3) Elorin: (hmm, cast as 17th level cleric, yep, that's enough if it has it prepared)
** (3) Elorin dumps out the treasure **
(2) GM: Old Man: Let's see... yep, that's it. See that scroll?
(3) Elorin: (which might require two summonings, a day apart)
(3) Elorin: Which one?
(2) GM: The old man points at the Arcane scroll in the pile
(2) GM: Old Man: that ornate one, with the three spells on it.
** (3) Elorin shoves it away from himself **
(10) Kaylin: Oooh, intricate.
(3) Elorin: (unless the curse is a one-time only thing, you don't want it either)
(2) GM: Old Man: That's the root cause of your trouble. Destroying it will keep the same fate from befalling another, although it won't end your troubles.
(2) GM: Old man: That requires something to remove your curse. I'm sure my young student can deal with that aspect.
** (10) Kaylin preens a little bit **
(2) GM: Old Man: I used to keep it around because it had a slight habit of getting some students out of the black robes; course, it also had a habit of getting greys or whites into them....
(3) Elorin: Well then, I'll get rid of it and then she can remove the curse.
(10) Kaylin: Interesting curse.
(3) Elorin: Unless you really want to keep it yourself
(2) GM: Old man: Although, many of the angels don't like me overly much; one of you would need to do any negotiating.
(10) Kaylin: Elorin, you'd probably be best at that.
(9) Rilyrr: (I have to go)
(2) GM: Well, thanks for coming.
(10) Kaylin: (bye)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Bye, then)
(2) GM: Eloring - destroying the scroll?
(8) Kibin: (It was fun.)
(9) Rilyrr: Disconnecting from server...
(9) Rilyrr (exit): 17:13
(3) Elorin: (has he responded to my "keep it yourself" line?)
(2) GM: Oh, you weren't referring to Kaylin? Oops.
(2) GM: Old Man: Well, with the school gone, I don't really have any particular reason to keep it around.
** (3) Elorin draws his sword and start hacking at the scroll **
** (10) Kaylin turns away **
(2) GM: It quickly gets turned into shreds.
(3) Elorin: Remove Curse please, Kaylin.
(2) GM: Remove scroll 1 from any of the "Old White Dragon, Tower, Random X" nodes I've sent in...
(10) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Remove Curse ( level 4, "Frees object or person from curse." )
(3) Elorin: (my alignment reverts back to Chaotic Good from Lawful Neutral)
(8) Kibin: (Now the angel negotiating? Please?)
whispering to Elorin, and youre alignment reverts....
(3) Elorin: Now let's see about my bruises...
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
whispering to Elorin, and your diety is a forgiving sort....
(3) Elorin: Ah, much better
(2) GM: Old man: yeah, I can get you an angel... probably.... although I will need a night to prepare.
(10) Kaylin: Don't suppose you could spare a bit of that for me?
(3) Elorin: (how much?)
(10) Kaylin: (18)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Moderate Wounds ( level 2, "Cures 2d8 damage +1/level (max +10)" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 2 Spell ( level 2, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [2d8+10] -> [3,8,10] = (21)
(10) Kaylin: Thank you so much.
(3) Elorin: You're welcome
(3) Elorin: Now, how do these negotiations typically go?
(3) Elorin: Should we expect to have to provide the diamonds ourselves?
(2) GM: Jason: Well, unless anyone has a particular need of my presense, I'm going to bed. I've spent a lot of magic today...
(2) GM: Jason walks off, hops into his familiar, and heads into his Rope Trick for the night.
** (10) Kaylin calls the wagon and carriage over near the cave, then settles down. **
(2) GM: Old Man: They hardly carry that much in diamonds around with them all the time. Even when you get them to agree, they almost never have it ready. We're talking a few days, if everything goes well.
(10) Kaylin: Great.
(2) GM: Old man: And it's a little risky. Sometimes, they decide you're keeping them from something considerably more important. Especially with the current invasion issue....
(3) Elorin: Well, we're a little short on diamonds for True Resurrection. Would you happen to still have any of the stock from before?
(8) Kibin: (Bah. Would it be easier to just use true reincarnation? :P)
(3) Elorin: (and maybe recast the Great Warping to negate the race change? would that work?)
(2) GM: (With a druid on hand? Simple Caster level check, needs a 2. 95% probability of success...)
(2) GM: (Could change his race again, anyway... but tell me, where's the focus?)
(3) Elorin: Presumably the Old Man still has it. Unless it got lost with all that happened around here.)
(3) Elorin: (brb)
(2) GM: Old Man: And it helps to have something they'll like..... most enjoy donations to the appropriet temples, good works, giving to the poor.... but it's not alway enough.
** (10) Kaylin enters a meditative trance while pseudo-listening **
(2) GM: Old man: So, you clearing out for the night while I rest and prepare, or do you have more questions?
** (12) Eldon Quickfoot clears out to the carriage and sleeps. **
(8) Kibin (whispering): I'll be bored in the plane of the dead, then.
whispering to Kibin, Yep. For a while longer, anyway.....
** (10) Kaylin exits the cave with a curtsy and goes to fight Eldon for the carriage **
(2) GM: Next day?
(10) Kaylin: (hopefully)
(8) Kibin (whispering): By curiosity, what race am I over on the plane of the dead?
whispering to Kibin, Dragontouched....
(8) Kibin (whispering): Meaning? :P
(2) GM: In the morning, the old man comes to Kaylin with a spellbook.....
whispering to Kibin, half half-dragon.
(3) Elorin: (he hasn't answered whether he has the necessary diamonds available)
(8) Kibin (whispering): Ah. :P
(8) Kibin (whispering): And will I remember any of this?
(2) GM: Old man: Yes, I have more diamonds. I raided the stock for the infirmry.... although... they are so pretty....
whispering to Kibin, Nope.
(10) Kaylin: Good morning, Teacher.
(8) Kibin (whispering): Meh. Dang rules of ressurection and stuff. :P
(2) GM: Old Man: Morning. As long as we're doing this anyway, it might as well be a learning experience. Here, prepare these.
(3) Elorin: Hmm, do you still have the diamond focus for Kaylin's Great Warping?
** (10) Kaylin takes the spellbook as graciously as possible. **
(2) GM: The old man hands you an unusually thin spellbook (Containing Planar Binding, Greater (8th), Magic Circle against Good (3rd), and Dimensional Anchor (which you already know))
(2) GM: Old Man: You'll be doing the Calling.
(10) Kaylin: Very well.
(2) GM: Old Man: And this way, I'm not risking my own skin.....
** (10) Kaylin smiles **
(2) GM: Old Man: And yes, I still have the gem. Just can't bear to part with it..... so pretty.....
(3) Elorin: Even for the brief time it would take in the crafting portal?
(8) Kibin: (For crying out loud. He's worse than me.)
(3) Elorin: You'd have it back in a few minutes at most
(2) GM: Old Man: Ah, but a great many spells burn diamonds up...
(8) Kibin: (I mean, am I that attached? No.)
(2) GM: Old Man: Maybe eventually... for something of particular importance... if I'm watching....
(2) GM: (He also took a more extreme change.....)
(3) Elorin: (and for all we know the price of the Res is our next adventure hook...)
(8) Kibin: (More extreme change? Meh.)
(8) Kibin: (Does he have dragon hitdie? I don't think so.)
** (10) Kaylin sits and prepares and stuff **
(2) GM: Spellcraft checks for a borrowed spellbook?
(10) Kaylin: (can't he cast Wish?)
(2) GM: (Can he? Yes... is he going to spare the life force for it? Not usually.....)
(10) Kaylin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+31] -> [16,31] = (47)
(10) Kaylin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+31] -> [10,31] = (41)
(2) GM: Not that you CAN fail that roll.....
(3) Elorin: (why do you bother asking for checks you know she can't fail?)
(2) GM: After the preparations, he takes his spellbook back....
(10) Kaylin: (it's not even a fail on a natural 1, is it?)
(2) GM: (Because I can never remember her modifiers; why do you ask?)
(10) Kaylin: (ah)
(2) GM: Old Man: Well, I'm sure you know the drill - scribe your calling diagram, cast your trap, anchor the diagram, then call your prey.
** (10) Kaylin does so **
(2) GM: Old Man: Meanwhile, I'm heading off to hide.... don't want them to know I survived....
(10) Kaylin: Uhm
(10) Kaylin: Great.
(10) Kaylin: How likely are they to associate me with you?
(2) GM: And you get your PPlanatar, with a real nice cloak; what's your DC?
(2) GM: Will save: [1d20+25] -> [1,25] = (26)
(2) GM: Nevermind; it's stuck.
(10) Kaylin: (DC 26)
(10) Kaylin: (wow.)
(2) GM: Meanwhile, during the 20 minutes or so you spend working, he hides somewhere.
(2) GM: So... propose your deal.
(10) Kaylin: (just bring Kibin back to life, right?)
(8) Kibin: (WITH no life energy loss.)
(2) GM: Up to you.
(8) Kibin: (I'm sure that he could just poof to me and talk to me...)
(2) GM: Propose your deal.
(10) Kaylin: I want you to bring this rogue back to life without any life force loss. We will reward you with gold equivalent to what you must spend to do so, as well as a 1000 gold bonus. Sound reasonable?
(10) Kaylin: (gotta go soonishly)
(8) Kibin: (Can we at least get to the disjunction part if everything goes well? :P)
(2) GM: Charisma check?
(3) Elorin: (er, 1000 gold really isn't much for this)
(10) Kaylin: Cha check: [1d20+2] -> [6,2] = (8)
(2) GM: [1d20+6+3] -> [20,6,3] = (29)
(10) Kaylin: (Mmm. 8.)
(2) GM: Planetar: Take a hike. I really do need to get back to work; such a piddly sum for such a spell?
(3) Elorin: Er, maybe we should have discussed that part of it before hand, as I don't think that's very reasonable for something this major.
(8) Kibin (whispering): Can I at least see what's going on?
** (8) Kibin twiddles his thumbs over on the other side. Lalala, bored. **
(10) Kaylin: I'm sorry, I'm not particularly familiar with these spells. Would, oh, 7500 gold be sufficient?
(3) Elorin: ("standard" cost to buy a casting of such a spell is [9*17*10] -> 1530 plus material cost)
whispering to Kibin, Sorry. Out ouf your hands until the spell is cast.....
(2) GM: (but Planar Binding has it's own rules.....)
(10) Kaylin: Cha check: [1d20+2] -> [8,2] = (10)
(2) GM: ... and you can't re-offer until the next day.
(10) Kaylin: (oh?)
(10) Kaylin: (misread that then.)
(2) GM: "If the creature does not break free of the trap, you can keep it bound for as long as you dare. You can attempt to compel the creature to perform a service by describing the service and perhaps offering some sort of reward. You make a Charisma check opposed by the creature’s Charisma check. The check is assigned a bonus of +0 to +6 based on the nature of the service and the reward. If the creature wins the opposed check, it refuses service. New offers, bribes, and the like can be made or the old ones reoffered every 24 hours. This process can be repeated until the creature promises to serve, until it breaks free, or until you decide to get rid of it by means of some other spell. Impossible demands or unreasonable commands are never agreed to. If you roll a 1 on the Charisma check, the creature breaks free of the binding and can escape or attack you."
(10) Kaylin: (Yeah, I thought it was {old ones reoffered every 24 horus} with the new ones being separate)
(3) Elorin: (it doesn't really make sense for it to automatically refuse ANYTHING just because enough time hasn't passed)
(2) GM: Ah, but he can also attempt to escape only once per day.
(3) Elorin: (surely getting out and back to its business sooner would be more important than just making its summoner wait)
(2) GM: (Or at least, only one attempt between the Calling Diagram (stops SR) and the Anchor (stops Planar Travel))
(10) Kaylin: (so in the meantime, we swap recipies?)
(2) GM: Pretty much.
(10) Kaylin: If only Kibin was alive. He could bore you to death.
(10) Kaylin: Then you'd see the benefit of being nice to me.
(2) GM: Charisma escape check: [1d20+6+3] -> [18,6,3] = (27)
(10) Kaylin: (ouch)
(2) GM: Kaylin - what's 15 + 1/2 your caster level + your Cha modifier?
(8) Kibin: (We really need to work on getting more done.)
(10) Kaylin: (24, ickily)
(2) GM: Sorry. Your Planetar escapes. With no way to travel home just yet.....
(2) GM: And it decides to take it out on you. Roll for initiative.
(3) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [14,6] = (20)
(10) Kaylin: [1d20 + 6] -> [4,6] = (10)
(10) Kaylin: (dice are failing me... grr)
(2) GM: [1d20+8] -> [7,8] = (15)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Dex check: [1d20+2] -> [6,2] = (8)
(2) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [18,4] = (22)
(8) Kibin: (This would be a good time to dispel the anchor...)
(2) GM: Jason, Elorin, Critter, Kayiln, Eldon.
(2) GM: Jason: Umm... aren't you supposed to be in that circle over there?
(2) GM: Shield, Level 1: Invisible disc gives +4 to AC, blocks magic missiles
(2) GM: Elorin?
(8) Kibin (whispering): *considers finding something interesting to do here while he waits. Like maybe see if he can discuss with deities for help or something.*
** (3) Elorin attempts to reason with it. **
whispering to Kibin, tell you what; you get to run the Planetar - but only intelligently, mind; he's got a +5 cloak of resitance and +6 Charisma, otherwise standard for his race, as shows up Here.
(8) Kibin (whispering): Huh? :P
(3) Elorin: We can send you back quite soon after you raise Kibin, he's done quite a number of good deeds and can be expected to do more, and attacking us would be rather risky and remove a fairly powerful force for good in this world. I'm sure we can work out a much more reasonable payment for your services than she initially offered.
(8) Kibin (whispering): No, OOCly I'm not bored, I got other stuff. ICly, I'm bored.
(2) GM: The Planetar, after having been lured in, trapped, held at bay, and coerced, is not feeling particularly resonable.
(2) GM: Dinner - got to go.
(8) Kibin: (Oookay... Anyone else leaving?)
(3) Elorin: (not yet)
(10) Kaylin: (turns out I can stay for a bit)
(3) Elorin: (I've got an SEIV turn to play while he's gone)
(3) Elorin: (Race to SEV tournament final game)
(3) Elorin: (going pretty well so far, though no wars yet)
(8) Kibin: (Okay then, I guess I'll just leave the GMing to him then.)
(8) Kibin: (And let you take your turn.)
(10) Kaylin: (Dang you, I got wiped out in the first game :P)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Personally, I think Kaylin should make with rapid apologies)
(10) Kaylin: (Parasite hit me with a bunch of destroyers, my carriers weren't enough to fight him off.)
(3) Elorin: (hmm, is it safe to outline my tactics here...)
(10) Kaylin: (personally, I think a wall of force and THEN shouted rapid apologies)
(3) Elorin: (I doubt my opponents read our logs, but you never know)
(10) Kaylin: (With the fact that the logs get about 4 downloads each...)
(10) Kaylin: (one's from me, I know.)
(3) Elorin: (I suppose it's a bit too late for anyone to take advantage of my early game strategy)
(3) Elorin: (I call it... The Never Ending Land Rush!)
(3) Elorin: (you know the standard emergency build colonizers for 11 turns?)
(3) Elorin: (I've improved on that)
(10) Kaylin: (pray tell)
(3) Elorin: (Hardy Industrialists with 120% construction aptitude and Good homeworlds can build a colony ship with only 1 engine in one turn at normal build rate)
(3) Elorin: (retrofitting the 4 other engines on can be done in one turn with 4 repair capacity)
(3) Elorin: (your starting space yard with at least 80% repair aptitude is enough)
(10) Kaylin: (wow)
(3) Elorin: (so, by delaying the initial rush by one turn, I avoid the ten turns of slow build)
(10) Kaylin: (clever)
(3) Elorin: (it appears to be working quite well, as my economy is significantly farther along than those of both of by neighbors)
(3) Elorin: (it means I miss out on 350 racial points that I could otherwise get from tanking repair aptitude (have to compensate for -2 from berserkers), but I count that a very minor cost)
(10) Kaylin: (350 isn't bad at all)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Retroseries bulds aren't allowed in all games)
(10) Kaylin: (to me it seems exploitative, but if it's allowed.. go for it)
(10) Kaylin: (the other reason is, I've never really figured out how to do it :P)
(3) Elorin: (from the beginning, this tournament has had a policy of no rules that cannot be enforced by the game itself)
(10) Kaylin: (seems reasonable. it is a tournament, after all.)
(3) Elorin: (that way, you don't run into trouble with people winning only because they broke a gentlemen's agreement and weren't caught while their opponents kept it)
(10) Kaylin: (yeah, that'd be really bad for the community as a whole...)
(3) Elorin: (and with the prizes on the line (5 beta slots, among others), that would have been a serious temptation)
(10) Kaylin: (mrow.... nice prizes)
(10) Kaylin: (I gotta go away now - out to dinner to celebrate moving into a house :)
(10) Kaylin: (see you guys in two weeks; can't come next week for orchestra stuff.)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Bye)
(10) Kaylin: (oh, and for the fight, try not to get me killed :)
(10) Kaylin has sent you a tree node...
** (10) Kaylin found the F4 macro key **
(10) Kaylin: Teleport to home...
(10) Kaylin (exit): 18:19
(2) GM: Back.
(2) GM: Anyone online, now that I've caught up on the conversation?
(8) Kibin: (I am.)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yep)
(3) Elorin: (yes)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (But how about we stop here? Two players gone, I'm not at my best...)
(8) Kibin: (x.x0
(8) Kibin: (I REALLY want to be brought back to life today...)
(8) Kibin: (And do what we STARTED to do 7 hours ago...)
(3) Elorin: (it'll be the first thing we do next week...)
(8) Kibin: (Next week...)
(3) Elorin: (wheee, 16 new warships under construction as resources get freed up from my Ice Colonization spree :D)
(2) GM: So... what's the consensus?
(8) Kibin: (I saw let me go back to life and do the disjunction thingie.)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (I'd rather stop now, but if we could wrap this up fast (NPC Kaylin, add apology, pay Whatisname very well))
(3) Elorin: (hmm, it's got always active Discern Lies on and I wouldn't resist that...)
(2) GM: Dispel the anchor, and he's gone.... he really mostly just wants to be back about his business.....
(2) GM: But punishing those who trapped him makes a decent second-best.....
(3) Elorin: (and I just explained we'd let him go real fast after he revives Kibin plus we'd pay him well, contributing resources to his work)
(2) GM: It was the critter's turn, though.... so he gets something first.... hmm....
(2) GM: (The way the mechanics are set up, he gets to leave as soon as he completes the agreed-upon task ... which was a deal he rejected, and another can't be proposed properlly until the next day.....)
(3) Elorin: (but he's out of the circle now and should be able to act however he wishes, which could include agreeing on a deal...)
(2) GM: Ah, a Disintigrate is on the standard list.... so's dispel magic (Greater)......
(2) GM: (Diplomacy check?)
(2) GM: Rushed, at -10....
(3) Elorin: (with hefty circumstance bonus for being very reasonable and pointing out things that he knows to be true (Discern Lies) and would agree with his Good nature for cooperating?)
(2) GM: Vs. people who have demonstrated they don't really have an issue with snatching someone out of their home, trapping them, and making a deal from a presumed superior bargaining position with a captive?
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Well, Eldon doesn't cast spells - Wasn't certain what was going on)
(3) Elorin: (and just about gazed in shock at the ridiculously poor bargain Kaylin initially offered?)
(2) GM: (Welllll that was flavor based on the comparative opposed rolls.....)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Pretty much, I'd guess. He's smarter than me, especially right now)
(3) Elorin: (I was expecting having to offer either some fairly major reward or a service fit for a fairly major adventure hook)
(2) GM: (Yeah, but I was following the mechanics - a really good offer would exceed the listed +6 max bonus.....)
(2) GM: (And there's always the "Moment Of Prescience" spell for a quick boost ... to the opposed ability check....)
(3) Elorin: (holy crap, that's a big bonus!)
(2) GM: (A must for Wizards wanting to deal in Planar Bindings of significant challenge....)
(3) Elorin: (that's pretty much, "you WILL do as we ask for free. NOW")
(2) GM: (There's still the natural 1 clause... but yes.)
(2) GM: So... Rushed Diplomacy check, or Planetar's turn, or suspend the game until next week?
(3) Elorin: (unless you decide the Planetar is willing to be reasoned with outside the strict mechanics of the Diplomacy skill or you give me a major circumstance bonus, there's no way I could change its mind)
(3) Elorin: (no ranks, only +4 charisma)
(2) GM: Ah. Well, Planetar's turn, then....
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Oh yeah. Eldon has 18 Diplomacy)
(8) Kibin: (There is always hope.)
(2) GM: The winged beast casts a spell....
(2) GM: [1d20+17] -> [19,17] = (36)
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [6,19] = (25)
whispering to Elorin, Dispel Magic, Greater
(2) GM: Let's see... Kaylin has a caster level of... 16? So that's DC.... 27.
(2) GM: Kaylin's standing around in shock.....
(3) Elorin: (alrighty then, I'm guessing it's out of here next round. Try again with Kaylin's +31 spellcraft giving her the idea to ask for Moment of Prescience from the Old Man?)
(2) GM: Eldon?
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Uh...Diplomacy? Something like 'Sorry about this, they appear to all be nutcases?')
(2) GM: Make your roll. At -10, for a rushed check.
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Diplomacy Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [5,18] = (23)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: (Oh. Great)
(2) GM: And you only needed a 12.....
(2) GM: Jason: Umm... well, you haven't done anything obviously hostile....
(8) Kibin: (That was supposed to be for the planetar.)
(2) GM: Jason readys an actino to cast Enervation if it hurts someone....
(8) Kibin: (I think.)
(2) GM: Elorin?
(2) GM: Jason's turn rolled around, so Jason acted.
** (3) Elorin delays **
(2) GM: And the Planetar concentrates....
(2) GM: Will saves, everyone....
(3) Elorin: Will save: [1d20+24] -> [4,24] = (28)
(2) GM: Will save: [1d20+17] -> [5,17] = (22)
(8) Kibin: (Heh. Except me.)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Will save: [1d20+10] -> [7,10] = (17)
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, The angel dude is your bestest friend in the whole wide world! (You've been charmed)
(2) GM: Planetar: You really, really ought not to do such things. Come over here, Kaylin, I have a spell for you....
(2) GM: Kaylin: Okay....
(2) GM: Elorin - sense motive?
(3) Elorin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+8] -> [8,8] = (16)
whispering to Elorin, You don't notice anything at all out of the ordinary about Kaylin or Eldon's behavior.
(2) GM: Planetar: Now kindly sit down while I cast; really, this is intended for your benefit....
(3) Elorin: (spellcraft?)
(2) GM: (Spell-like ability; can't see somatic components (there are none), can't see verbal components (ditto); didn't notice the effects on everyone)
(2) GM: (or are you referring to what he's about to do?)
(2) GM: Opposed Charisma: Planetar: [1d20+9] -> [18,9] = (27)
(3) Elorin: (either)
(2) GM: Cha check: [1d20+2] -> [6,2] = (8)
(2) GM: Well, for the spell he's about to cast, sure.
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [18,19] = (37)
whispering to Elorin, Mark of Justice
(2) GM: Over a period of ten minutes, Kaylin sits quietly....
(2) GM: while the Planetar casts.
(2) GM: Fell like interrupting him, Elorin?
(2) GM: Feel, not fell... grr....
(2) GM: Ping?
(3) Elorin: (hmm, removable by Break Enchantment)
(3) Elorin: (probably not worth antagonizing him further)
(2) GM: So he casts for ten minutes, then Plane Shifts away.
(2) GM: Leaving a clear mark on Kaylin's Forehead, that reads, in common, "Kidnapper"
(3) Elorin: Hmm, definitely not a good idea to go around with that on your head
(2) GM: End for the day?
(3) Elorin: Now, if you'll allow me...
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Break Enchantment ( level 5, "Frees subjects from enchantments, alterations, curses, and petrification" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 5 Spell ( level 5, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [1d20+15] -> [9,15] = (24)
(2) GM: Kaylin (still charmed): But I deserve it.....
(8) Kibin: (And I suppose, I'm still dead.)
(3) Elorin: Bah
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Magic Circle against Evil ( level 3, "As protection spells, but 10-ft. radius and 10 min./level" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Eldon (Still charmed, but not sure it matters) Yes, you do.
(2) GM: And that supresses the charm effect.....
(3) Elorin: Now, if you'll let me try again...
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Break Enchantment ( level 5, "Frees subjects from enchantments, alterations, curses, and petrification" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 5 Spell ( level 5, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [1d20+15] -> [7,15] = (22)
(2) GM: The mark stays right where it is, although this time, Kaylin doesn't object.
(3) Elorin: (and again...)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Break Enchantment ( level 5, "Frees subjects from enchantments, alterations, curses, and petrification" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [1d20+15] -> [16,15] = (31)
(2) GM: The mark fades.
(2) GM: Well, I'm fatigued....
(8) Kibin: (Meh. That was a pointless 30 minutes.)
(3) Elorin: (hmm, maybe Planar Ally would work better, but that's a cleric spell and not on my list)
(2) GM: (Probably... but consider the words used when I mentioned why he wasn't particularly interested in seeing reason.....)
(3) Elorin: (I'm getting tired too)
(3) Elorin: (let's end it)
(12) Eldon Quickfoot: Perhaps we might do a little more asking first and a little less barging in.
(8) Kibin: (I just want to not be dead and finish what we started 8 hours ago. :P)
(2) GM: Well, maybe next week....
(2) GM:
Server Administrator-> Closing server....
(3) Elorin: Disconnecting from server...
(3) Elorin (exit): 19:15
Game disconnected!
