Server Administrator-> You have connected to an OpenRPG server, version '1.6.1'.
Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.
Session is schedualed for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.

(1) Kibin (enter): 09:48
(2) Jack Simth: Greetings.
(2) Jack Simth: Today's Random: [100d20] -> [3,12,2,15,2,5,8,12,19,14,15,6,12,12,2,17,15,20,10,20,8,9,3,20,15,10,3,8,9,12,4,9,4,13,6,14,1,14,12,13,10,4,5,13,5,3,20,3,12,18,2,3,4,5,14,13,6,1,4,10,13,6,12,6,17,1,4,10,6,10,2,4,15,5,9,8,11,5,6,9,11,17,1,19,6,3,1,12,2,5,9,5,13,1,19,8,12,14,2,19] = (901)
(1) Kibin: You 15 minutes late. :)
(1) Kibin: I stole your number 1 spot.
(2) Jack Simth: Hardly matters.
(1) Kibin: But I'm number one! :D
(1) Kibin: By the way, ZA probally won't be coming any more.
(1) Kibin: I don't think there was enough combat for him a couple of weeks ago.
(2) Jack Simth: Hmm... perfers a more hack and slash style, then?
(1) Kibin: He did make a fighter, after all.
(1) Kibin: I think I was also a little soft last session. :P
(2) Jack Simth: True. He also missed a handful of things - an LA + 1 race with 15 class levels, using a feat I don't have access to.....
(1) Kibin: Hmmmm.
(1) Kibin: I think that a lot of those classes in magazines are a little too powerful.
(1) Kibin: Swashbucklers, for example, stack too nicely with duelists.
(2) Jack Simth: Dragon Magazine tends not too have as much playtesting as, say, the Player's Hand Book.
(1) Kibin: Yeah, probally.
(1) Kibin: I think I'm the only person that didn't analyze his character sheet for hours, trying to give every possible advantange he/she can.
(2) Jack Simth: Not the only; Jason's spell selection is skewed a bit; at 4th level spells and below, there's a necromancy spell at every spell level; at 4th level and above, a Shadow spell.
(1) Kibin: If life were a video game, level 1 would be France.
(2) Jack Simth: Two very thematic spells selections for a ghost.....
(1) Kibin: Well, everyone else has to hit modifiers of about 30, and really big damages.
(1) Kibin: True, I have sneak attack...
(1) Kibin: But Elorin seems to do almost as much damage as me. :P
(2) Jack Simth: Vs. Evil critters, he gets a +2d6 damage (Holy); you could probably arrange to get that on your weapon, as well; he's got a spell that increases his BAB (which he keeps on all day), and he took some of the archery feat chain to make full use of his enhanced BAB while firiing.
(2) Jack Simth: Now, if you went for the two-weapon fighting chain.......
(1) Kibin: True, which I probally should have.
(1) Kibin: Or at least altered stats around people/.
(2) Jack Simth: Or the Mobility chain (culimating in Whirlwind Attack) .....
(1) Kibin: I thought about that.
(1) Kibin: Probally most of the stuff is me not knowing much about the system.
(1) Kibin: It's amazine that some people manage to get +9 stat modifiers. :P
(3) Elorin (enter): 10:03
(2) Jack Simth: Greetings
(3) Elorin: hi
(1) Kibin: You know, most of these spells that people assume to always last, actually don't.
(3) Elorin: oh?
(1) Kibin: If anyone came during the night, we wouldn't have a lot of bonuses.
(1) Kibin: For example, no immunity to fear.
(3) Elorin: That lasts 24 hours with Extend Spell
(2) Jack Simth: Well, starting with an 18, +2 racial, +6 from the appropriet enhancement item, and (at 16th) four loose stat bonuses to add = a score of 30; +10 modifer. Most, though, are using a base of 16, rather than 18.
(3) Elorin: so, yes we would
(1) Kibin: Bah.
(3) Elorin: alternatively, I could serve up Heroes' Feast for dinner as well as breakfast
(1) Kibin: Me and Jason are the only people who don't powergame here, I think.
(1) Kibin: My highest stat is only +5-+6 bonus.
(3) Elorin: If going for a really high stat is how you define powergaming, I think Jason has 30 charisma
(1) Kibin: I define powergaming as using every possible way to make your character more powerful.
(2) Jack Simth: Yep. He's also got a +5 LA, seriously cutting into his spellcasting. His save DC's on his highest level spells are usually within one or two of Kaylin's highest. Jason powergames in a different way - with an eye for having abilities of the "save bacon" variety. He auto-ressurects, and has a few difficult Will save powers.
(2) Jack Simth: When it comes to killing things, however, he's got a tougher time of it.
(1) Kibin: He's a tank and support character. :)
(3) Elorin: If I really wanted to powergame, I'd start asking for custom magic items like an Ioun Stone of continuous Protection From Evil - permanent immunity to mind control of any sort
(3) Elorin: for an incredibly low cost going by the DMG formulas
(1) Kibin: What, and your enchanting one item with two different item effects don't count? :P
(2) Jack Simth: That's much like the ring of continuous True Strike - one of the reasons those tables require carefyl DM adjucation, and in the printed works, appear in the DMG, rather than the PHB.
(2) Jack Simth: You could, however, buy a scroll of Mind Blank for Kaylin, and request she cast it on you daily.
(1) Kibin: Mind Blank is a psionic power, however.
(3) Elorin: No, it's an 8th level Sor/Wiz spell
(2) Jack Simth: No; there's Mind Blank (a magic spell) and Mind Blank, Psionic (a psionic power)
(1) Kibin: Ah. Meh.
(3) Elorin: it's how the ghost blocked my Discern Location
(2) Jack Simth: Until he was re-dead, anyway.....
(1) Kibin: Yeah.
(2) Jack Simth: Pity you didn't try scrying; had a fun surpise cooked up for that one.....
(3) Elorin: oh?
(1) Kibin: Probally a death effect.
(1) Kibin: Jack likes his death effects. :P
(2) Jack Simth: Think about it. He's wandering through hell. Literally. I was figuring more along the lines of a Will save or go insane.
(2) Jack Simth: From the horrid images.
(3) Elorin: what DC?
(3) Elorin: Will save: [1d20+24] -> [20,24] = (44)
(1) Kibin: Elorin, what's your other saves at?
(3) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+18] -> [5,18] = (23)
(3) Elorin: Reflex save: [1d20+21] -> [11,21] = (32)
(1) Kibin: Hmmmph.
(2) Jack Simth: Oh, you'd probably only fail it on a natural 1. Rest of the party, though, that wanted to see the image.....
(1) Kibin: Another thing. Elorin doesn't have any bad saves.
(3) Elorin: Comparing with Cleric, the only difference in saves would be my reflex would be 5 lower
(3) Elorin: +13 still isn't bad
(1) Kibin: You're hard to hit...
(1) Kibin: You have an attack bonus of over 30.
(2) Jack Simth: True. He also has acess to almost no prestige classes, no bonus feats, and no domain access; I could write up a cleric or something specifically designed to take him down fairly readily. SR from a spell, maybe the Trickery domain....
(1) Kibin: Can attack 5 times a turn...
(1) Kibin: But anything you device to be strong against him, would be weak against the rest of us most likely.
(3) Elorin: Next level I get wings :)
(1) Kibin: Meh.
(3) Elorin: For me, part of the fun of D&D is designing a powerful character
(3) Elorin: and I've had a fair bit of practice at it
(2) Jack Simth: Or I could even make another favored soul. With Heavy Armor proficiency, a nice set of (wrong-sized for Elorin, of course) armor, Spell Resistence (via spell), and flight. Cast his doom with damaging Fort save spells, say.
(1) Kibin: For me, part of the fun of D&D is being able to play without being killed in 1-2 hits by the monsters that the GM throws at us to defeat the powerful characters. :P
(2) Jack Simth: Or an arcane caster. He has no counter to Forcecage.
(1) Kibin: Most of the monsters we attack, I need some type of a miracle to hit them before it's a pincushion or falls to the ground instantly dead.
(3) Elorin: But that only takes me out of the fight temporarily
(2) Jack Simth: That little cloudkill spell that does Con damage, even on a successful save each round, followed by a Forcecage to seal him in......
(3) Elorin: Unless you use the barred cage version, but I can shoot out from that
(1) Kibin: And if they decide to attack me, I drop quickly, hardly even posing a threat.
(2) Jack Simth: And he has to wait for another player to rescue him.
(3) Elorin: Cloudkill: "creatures immune to poison are unaffected by the spell."
(4) Kibin (enter): 10:25
(2) Jack Simth: Ah, right.
(4) Kibin: And most of the skills that I placed points into, other people can do a lot better. About the only things that I can do that none of you can do is unlock locks, and defeat traps.
(3) Elorin: Heroes' Feast: "becomes immune to poison"
(2) Jack Simth: Hmm. So needs a Greater Dispel Magic first. Three spell whammy.
(2) Jack Simth: Hmm......
(3) Elorin: Clerics really need some teleportation spells
(1) Kibin (exit): 10:27
(2) Jack Simth: Travel Domain.
(3) Elorin: All I know of is Word of Recall
(3) Elorin: Sadly, Favored Souls don't get domains
(2) Jack Simth: :) Clerics are designed to require support from the other classes, as the other classes are designed to require support.
(3) Elorin: They also don't get Turn Undead, which in combination with the Divine Metamagic feat from Complete Divine would make a cleric actually a bit more powergamed than my character, I think
(3) Elorin: Persistent Divine Power
(4) Kibin: How about you DON'T use stuff from those other books?
(3) Elorin: substituting turn undead attempts for the spell level increase
(4) Kibin: Stuff that I don't have access to?
(4) Kibin: And stuff that allows you to make much better characters?
(2) Jack Simth: Divine Metamagic Persistent gets kinda broken. a Persistent Find Traps, for insance, obliviates half the need for a trap-searcher in the party.
(5) Rilyrr (enter): 10:30

(5) Rilyrr (enter): 10:30
(5) Rilyrr (exit): 10:30
(5) Rilyrr (enter): 10:30
(3) Elorin: That sort of thing is also why I haven't asked for a Metamagic Rod of Persistent Spell
(2) Jack Simth: Greetings.
(5) Rilyrr: good morning
(3) Elorin: I think that would just be a tad bit too brokenly powerful
(4) Kibin: I think your characters skill with a bow is too powerful. :P
(2) Jack Simth: Agreed. Even the lesser variety would be nasty, in getting rid of the need for other classes than the cleric.
(3) Elorin: You don't want to see what I can do with a power attacking paladin and Complete Warrior
(3) Elorin: 130+ damage on a single hit has happened multiple times
(2) Jack Simth: Persistent Divine Favor, Find Traps, and Divine Power -> no rogue or fighter needed.
(3) Elorin: and he's only level 14
(4) Kibin: We already don't need a fighter.
(4) Kibin: Elorin turns them into pincushions. :P
(2) Jack Simth: Oh, I can fix that.....
(2) Jack Simth: Which reminds me; I still need to build a high level tank.....
(4) Kibin: Meh. :P
(2) Jack Simth: Hmm.... three of... five? And half an hour past.
(3) Elorin: Is Aaron not coming back?
(4) Kibin: It seems like whenever you try to challenge the rest of the characters, I end up watching.
(3) Elorin: I think that's mainly because you haven't been able to sneak attack most of what we fight for quite a while
(4) Kibin: No.
(4) Kibin: It's because of insanely high ACs.
(4) Kibin: Can't attack what you can't hit.
(2) Jack Simth: I just need to get something with Wind Wall and SR in play. Maybe flight. Also need someway to get you and a fighter up there, of course....
(3) Elorin: I don't think anything we've fought recently had an AC I'd consider even close to being "insanely high" for this level
(4) Kibin: I have a BAB of about 20ish.]
(4) Kibin: That's with a good weapon and all.
(2) Jack Simth: Attack bonus, not Base Attack Bonus; different things.
(4) Kibin: Most of the creatures BABs are at 40 or around that, it seems.
(4) Kibin: Sorry, AC>
(4) Kibin: Attack bonus, yeah.
(2) Jack Simth: Well, anyone think we have enough players on hand to finish up the bird encounter?
(4) Kibin: Sure...
(4) Kibin: Kaylin isn't coming, and Narf probally fell asleep again...
(2) Jack Simth: He typed something about a message sent to me, that I don't recall receiving.
(3) Elorin: I'm wondering if ZeroAdunn decided not to come back after what happened last session
(4) Kibin: He's not coming back.
(4) Kibin: Not enough combat for him, I think.
(4) Kibin (exit): 10:42
(2) Jack Simth: Hmm.
(5) Rilyrr (exit): 10:42
(3) Elorin (exit): 10:42
Moving to room 'D and D'..

(4) Kibin (enter): 10:42
(5) Rilyrr (enter): 10:42
(3) Elorin (enter): 10:42
(2) Jack Simth: When we last left our heros, they had just watched a captain of the guard get thrown out of a bird's nest, after having charged the poor thing.....
(4) Kibin: [1d6] -> [4] = (4)
** (4) Kibin ooks over the pillar, hoping he's okay... **
(2) Jack Simth: Bird: Well, you obviously didn't much care for him. Hmm.... what was it you wanted to do with the bones, again?
(4) Kibin: Friend of us wants us to get the bones of a friend of his, so that the friend of our friend can be ressurected. Something like that.
(2) GM: Bird: So you're trying to raise the one who got me stuck in here?
(4) Kibin: Something like that. We can get you out of here, first.
whispering to Kibin, He's down there, not moving.
(2) GM: Bird: Ah, and how, exactly, do you propose to do that?
(4) Kibin: Same way we suggested earlier. Magic.
** (4) Kibin hopes that he's okay, and turns back towards the bird. **
(3) Elorin: (is it just the entrance that's too small, or is the room itself where teleporting is permitted too small for the bird to fit?)
(2) GM: Bird: I've been around a very, very long time. I've seen many types of magic. Spellslingers turning their enemies into little itty bitty rabits, too small even for a snack. Spellslingers killing things with a single spoken word.
(2) GM: (the enterence is way to small, and the room itself would be a very tight squeeze)
(3) Elorin: (but it would fit if we could enlarge the entrance?)
(2) GM: (Potentially)
(4) Kibin: I was thinking more like a simple polymorph spell. One that isn't permanent.
(2) GM: Bird: How am I to tell what spell you're using?
(4) Kibin: Uh....
(4) Kibin: Trust in us?
(2) GM: Bird: Ah, yes, trust the people who tried to sneak up and steal from me; does that sound right to you?
(2) GM: Kaylin: You're good at picking out little details, right?
(2) GM: Bird: Of course.
(2) GM: Bird: I have the shapest eye's you could ever dream of meeting gazes with.
(4) Kibin: Predictable, since you're a giant eagle and all that...
(3) Elorin: So, perhaps we could demonstrate the spell ahead of time so you can study the gestures required to cast it?
(3) Elorin: Then, with your keen eye for detail, you would notice if we tried something different
(2) GM: Bird: Hmm.... maybe... everything would have to be exactly the same......
(2) GM: Bird: Sounds ... acceptable. Demonstrate, please.
(3) Elorin: Kaylin, do you have the same polymorph spell prepared twice today, or will we have to wait while you prepare the extra?
(2) GM: Kaylin: Umm... slight problem... I don't have that one ready quite yet..... much less two.....
(2) GM: Kaylin: We will have to wait until tomorrow, I'm afraid.
(4) Kibin: (Or we could have Rilyrr do it.)
(5) Rilyrr: (I only have baleful polymorph memorized)
(3) Elorin: (that won't do at all for this :P)
(3) Elorin: Oh well, our business after this would have to wait another day anyway, I think.
(2) GM: Bird: So you can't demonstrate now? Well. Shove off, then.
(2) GM: Bird: Come back tomorrow. Perhaps then. In the meanwhile, I have feathers to clean.
(2) GM: The bird begins grooming it's golden feathers.
** (4) Kibin resists the temptation to silently pocket one of the bone fragments, and starts being cloudy. **
(3) Elorin: We'll be back tomorrow morning to demonstrate, then. Bye.
** (3) Elorin changes to fog **
(2) GM: Jason walks away down towards the ground.
(2) GM: Meeting where?
** (4) Kibin zooms away as a cloud, following Elorin. **
(2) GM: Looking down at the ground from high up, you notice it makes a picture ... one which can really only be made out from high above.
** (3) Elorin drifts down to where Aaron is and waits a moment to see if Jason does anything with Aaron and his discarded stuff **
** (4) Kibin hmmmms, and goes up really high to see the picture. **
(3) Elorin: (I'd rather not heal him, etc. that close to the Eagle if I don't have to)
whispering to Kibin, You see an image of what looks like a very large iron golem fighing a very small figure, that almost looks like the artist was trying to convey translucence on the little figure. Trees in the image go about knee-high on the golem; although behind the golem, there are no trees, just a scorched and shattered landscape. A sliver dragon is shown on a far-off mountain top, crying.
(2) GM: Elorin appears to still be breathing, although it doesn't look like he'll be getting up on his own for a couple of hours.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Does the broken and shattered landscape remind me of where we fought that sorcerer?
(3) Elorin: (I certainly hope I'm still breathing :P)
whispering to Kibin, Yep.
(2) GM: Ah, sorry; meant Aaron.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Huh.
whispering to Kibin, Make a spot check.
(4) Kibin (whispering): [1d20+13] -> [18,13] = (31)
(4) Kibin (whispering): I can see clearly now, the rain is gone...
whispering to Kibin, you can make out chains on the dragon's feet.
** (4) Kibin comes back down to Jason and the others. **
(3) Elorin: (you mentioned Jason moveing "down". Doea that mean he's coming to check on Aaron?)
(2) GM: Yep.
(2) GM: Jason: So. What do we do with Sir Iron-Head?
(4) Kibin: Drop him off at the city?
(4) Kibin: Or rather, the city that isn't destroyed.
(2) GM: Jason: That might be wise. But I was thinking a little more immediately.
(3) Elorin: Get him out of here and patch him up, but I don't think he's working out as a party member.
(3) Elorin: Doing something like that foolhardy attack without consulting the rest of the party first...
(2) GM: Jason: Well... I'm not entirely innocent of that, myself... but then, that dragon wasn't chatty at the time....
(4) Kibin: Yeah.
(4) Kibin: By the way, Jason, how long have you been a ghost?
(5) Rilyrr: (how big is the exit compaired to the bird?)
(2) Jason: Oh, hard to say; time is kind of ... iffy, when wandering. I'm told at least a thousand years.
(4) Kibin: Interesting. This place must be really old, then.
(2) Jason: (it *might* be able to stick it's head through, as-is)
(2) Jason: Jason: Oh?
(4) Kibin: Or at least the person that built it is old. Hmmmm.
(4) Kibin: Anyway, I guess we better find the exit again.
(2) Jason: Why do you ask?
(4) Kibin (whispering): *considers being lawful. Hmmmm.*
(4) Kibin: Well, the ground we're standing on is a mural.
(3) Elorin: (if I pick up Aaron while solid and then turn gaseous again, does he change with me so I can still carry him, or do I have to wake him up here?)
(4) Kibin: (Gah.)
(2) Jason: (as he's unconscious, I suppose I could let you treat him as a carried object for now)
(4) Kibin: (Internet still messed up.)
(2) Jason: A mural connected to me?
(4) Kibin: Something like that.
** (2) Jason runs up to the cieling, to have a look. **
(4) Kibin: That golem was really huge.
** (2) Jason runs back down. **
(2) Jason: So it is.
(2) Jason: Strange. I didn't think there were any witnesses who survived.
(4) Kibin: Seems like there was.
(4) Kibin: Hmmmm...
** (4) Kibin goes towards exit. Weeeeeee! **
(2) Jason: Spot or survival check?
(5) Rilyrr: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+27] -> [2,27] = (29)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+13] -> [14,13] = (27)
** (3) Elorin solidifies, picks up Aaron and his disarmed gear, turns gaseous again, and looks for the exit **
(2) Jason: You manage to spot where the exit went.
(3) Elorin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [10,10] = (20)
(2) Jason: Elorin, however, doesn't see it, but can follow along.
(2) Jason: Jason follows.
(2) Jason: At the exit, you again find that balcony. The door seems to have shut itself.
** (4) Kibin thinks that dragons still have too much time on their hands. **
(4) Kibin: Hmmmm, hopefully just a simple switch again.
** (4) Kibin searches for switches. **
(4) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [16,19] = (35)
(4) Kibin: (Or traps. :P)
(4) Kibin: (Of course.)
whispering to Kibin, You find a covered hatch with six switches; a red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. The door is, indeed, trapped.
(4) Kibin: Oookay...
(4) Kibin: Hmmmm.
whispering to Kibin, As are the switches.
whispering to Jason, [1d6] -> [5] = (5)
(4) Kibin: (Did we get the bone fragment?)
(2) Jason: Do you want to try for a slight of hand roll, opposed by the bird's spot?
(4) Kibin: (No. Heck no. :P)
(4) Kibin: (Are you crazy?)
(4) Kibin (whispering): How many trps on the door?
whispering to Kibin, One.
(4) Kibin: Hmmmm. Can one of you go back and get that bone fragment?
(4) Kibin: I really do not want to go back in here without someone telling me how to get past these traps.
(3) Elorin: Is it really necessary to leave and come back?
(4) Kibin: Well, we COULD just stay here... Hmmm.
(3) Elorin: Because I don't think we're getting that bone fragment without either doing our demonstration or fighting the bird
(4) Kibin: If you don't mind sleeping on rock, that is.
(2) GM: Jason: Sleep?
(4) Kibin: You know, to recover spells.
(2) GM: Jason: Oh, right - I keep forgetting.... you still can. Lucky.
(4) Kibin: Well, if you want to, you could sleep while inhabiting a body...
(7) Lae'nial (enter): 11:29
(2) GM: Jason: No, that doesn't really work out. Besides - taking hold of someone to keep them from getting killed, or from killing others, is one thing; for little pleasures? Qutie another.
(7) Lae'nial: (Hello - Sorry I'm late, I slept in)
(4) Kibin: I wouldn't mind.
(3) Elorin: I've slept in worse conditions than on hard ground.
(2) GM: (Happens. Dream well?)
(7) Lae'nial: (Also, due to the hard drive crash, I don't have any info for Eldon)
(3) Elorin: Well, meditated. (that whole "elves don't sleep thing")
(4) Kibin: (Knew it. You always sleep in.)
(7) Lae'nial: (Rather wierd, actually. A lot of the church songbooks had been replaced by guides to the church songbooks, which were actually bigger...)
(7) Lae'nial: (Don't know where that dream came from)
(7) Lae'nial: (Thanks)
(7) Lae'nial: (This time, I actually got up early enough. Except it was 9:30, so I lay down on the couch for a bit...)
(4) Kibin: So I guess that's a no on the whole sleeping thing for you, Jason?
(2) Jason: Haven't slept since that accursed day long ago. I've got the occasional gap in consciousness ... moreso since I met you ... but no sleep.
(7) Lae'nial: (Before that, it was a wierd dream involving the MIB and aliens playing pool with planets)
(7) Lae'nial: Mayhap a spell could be made to give you sleep?
(4) Kibin: (Hey genius, change your name. :P)
(2) Jason: Wouldn't be the same.... and I've tried it. I'm restless; kind of one of the defining characteristics of a ghost, you know; can't rest. A few other issues, too....
(4) Kibin: (*would hate to become a ghost on a full bladder*)
** (2) Jason runs fingers along the wound on his neck, closes eyes, concentrates for a bit, then slips a finger into the gap; pulling it back out a moment later. **
(4) Kibin: Well, that wouldn't be a problem, if you didn't keep doing it.
(4) Kibin: Anyway, sleep.
(4) Kibin: I don't suppose any of you have any extra bedrolls?
** (7) Eldon Quickfoot thinks that it would be rather bad to be a ghost obsessed with getting a good nights sleep... **
(7) Eldon Quickfoot: Nope
(2) Jason: The problem's not that I occasionally stick my finger in my deathwound; it's that I can't easily percieve it. Or a great many other things relating to the incident. What did you see on that mural, anyway?
** (3) Elorin looks through his pack **
(3) Elorin: Hmm, one bedroll, one winter blanket
(4) Kibin: I guess short-term memory is one of the first things to go?
(3) Elorin: I suppose the blanket might double as a bedroll
(2) GM: The rooms warm enough.
(4) Kibin: Eh, just forget it.
(2) Jason: Not exactly; more like certain key points relating to what's keeping me here.
(4) Kibin: So ghosts are compelled to do something, but they forget what it is? Weird.
(4) Kibin: Just you, or what I assumed was you, fighting a golem.
(4) Kibin: As well as a crying silver dragon. Never knew dragons cried...
(2) Jason: No, I remember what I have to do - make it impossible for that creature to ever happen again.
(2) Jason: Dragon? What dragon?
(4) Kibin: Uh, it looked to be far off in the mountains.
(4) Kibin: Didn't think it was THAT hard to see.
(2) Jason: As I mentioned, I can't see some things...... which was why I asked. Hmm.... strange....
(3) Elorin: Could this silver dragon have anything to do with that little green marble you have?
(4) Kibin: Possibly.
(4) Kibin: It was in chains, for some reason.
(4) Kibin: Hmmmm.
(2) Jason: Who would chain a dragon? Much less a silver?
(4) Kibin: Not a clue
(2) Jason: By the way - what did that guy tell you about that little gem?
(4) Kibin: You mean the shopkeeper guy?
(2) Jason: Yeah. He seemed rather paranoid about it.
(4) Kibin: Uh, let me check the note again.
** (4) Kibin takes the note out of the portable hole. **
** (4) Kibin reads it again. **
(4) Kibin: Something about justice.
(3) Elorin: Any details?
(4) Kibin: You know, I think that if he went to all that trouble to protect that note, that I really should not tell you.
(2) Jason: Jason: Remember what the old man said about scrying in here?
(4) Kibin: Bah. It says not to break until the sentence has been served.
(3) Elorin: What sentence, and for what crime?
(4) Kibin: If I knew, I wouldn't have asked the old man now, would I?
(7) Eldon Quickfoot: (Oh great. My mouse pointer has disapeared, again.)
** That's the Tab key, Dave
(4) Kibin: Out of curiosity, can you go up and see if you can spot that dragon?
(3) Elorin: Sure
** (3) Elorin flies up **
(7) Eldon Quickfoot: (I'll be right back)
(7) Eldon Quickfoot: Disconnecting from server...
(7) Eldon Quickfoot (exit): 11:48
whispering to Elorin, You see an image of what looks like a very large iron golem fighing a very small figure, that almost looks like the artist was trying to convey translucence on the little figure. Trees in the image go about knee-high on the golem; although behind the golem, there are no trees, just a scorched and shattered landscape. A sliver dragon is shown on a far-off mountain top, crying.
whispering to Elorin, Spot check?
(3) Elorin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [4,10] = (14)
(4) Kibin: (Hmmmmph.)
whispering to Elorin, You don't see anything else about the picture.
(4) Kibin (whispering): I didn't even need a spot check. :P
** (3) Elorin returns **
(4) Kibin (whispering): Well, except for the chains.
(3) Elorin: Gigantic golem fighting a tiny translucent figure, with a crying silver dragon crying on a mountain top far away
(4) Kibin: Hmmmm, so it's not just me that can see it.
(4) Kibin: Anyway, sleep.
(2) Jason: Next day?
(3) Elorin: (next day)
(2) Jason: Kaylin prepares her spells.....
(4) Kibin: (In the morning... Kaylin prepared her spells! After that...)
(3) Elorin: (oh, and I heal Aaron)
(2) Jason: Stragely, Aaron seems to have fallen into a coma, and doesn't awaken, even with healing.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot (enter): 11:53
(2) Jason: Are we ready to go? Probably ought to leave the iron giant here for now; don't want to ruffle any feathers.
(3) Elorin: Yeah
(4) Kibin: Sure.
(2) Jason: Jason: Well, let's be off.
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Wind Walk ( level 6, "You and your allies turn vaporous and travel fast" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Yes.
(2) Jason: Jason starts running towards the nest....
(2) GM: At the nest.
** (3) Elorin keeps up with him easily **
(2) GM: Bird: Ah, I see you're back.
(4) Kibin: Yes, and Kaylin has magic spells now.
(2) GM: Bird: I see. And who is she turning into what, first?
(4) Kibin: I suppose you'd want her to test out the spell on one of us first.
(2) GM: Bird: That was the suggestion, yes.
(4) Kibin: I don't mind volunteering.
(3) Elorin: So, what should it be? A smaller eagle that can fit through the door?
(2) GM: Kaylin: All right.... silver dragon is probably a bad choice at the moment; how about a nice lion?
(4) Kibin: Sure, why not?
(2) GM: Kaylin casts her spelll......
(4) Kibin: (And I'm willing, so it should suceed.)
(2) GM: and Kibin turns into a lion with a golden mane.
** (4) Kibin is now a lion. **
(2) GM: The bird watches everything intently.
(2) GM: Bird: I see....
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot wonders how many carrots the mane is - Not out loud. **
** (4) Kibin tries to talk to the bird, and it comes out as a roar. Ah yes, can't speak... **
(2) GM: [1d20+41] -> [7,41] = (48)
(2) GM: The bird sighs.
(2) GM: Bird: Well, lets get this over with.....
** (4) Kibin points over to the direction of the exit. **
(2) GM: Kaylin again casts her spell.
** (4) Kibin shakes his head, and points over to the exit again. **
(2) GM: [1d20+41] -> [10,41] = (51)
(2) GM: And the bird turns into an exactly identical lion.
** (4) Kibin hmmmmphs. **
** (4) Kibin waits, then. **
(5) Rilyrr: How are we going to get it down?
(2) GM: Jason: Got another Wind-Walk for the bird?
** (4) Kibin goes all fog-like while he waits. **
(3) Elorin: Certainly
(3) Elorin: But should I demonstrate it first?
(2) GM: The lion backs off suspiciously.
(2) GM: Jason: Would appear so.
(3) Elorin: All right, watch carefully...
** (3) Elorin casts on himself and Kibin **
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Wind Walk ( level 6, "You and your allies turn vaporous and travel fast" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(2) GM: [1d20+33] -> [19,33] = (52)
** (4) Kibin sighs, and goes ahead and goes back to being all solid while he waits. He lays down, and takes a catnap. **
** (3) Elorin floats around a bit **
** (3) Elorin solidifies **
(2) GM: The lion nods, then approaches warily.
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Wind Walk ( level 6, "You and your allies turn vaporous and travel fast" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(4) Kibin: (Solid before he casts. :P)
(2) GM: [1d20+33] -> [15,33] = (48)
(2) GM: The lion turns vapourus, and starts heading towards the balcony.
** (4) Kibin follows. **
(2) GM: At the balcony, the door is still closed.
** (3) Elorin picks up the bone and follows **
(4) Kibin (whispering): Out of curiosity, how is the hidden panel with the buttons opened?
whispering to Kibin, you slip a dagger under a panel that is almost totally identical to the surrounding stones supporting the wall, and pry it open.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Can I do it with teeth?
(4) Kibin (whispering): Or paws, or whatever.
whispering to Kibin, Claws, yes.
** (4) Kibin goes over to a panel, and uses his claws to pry open a panel on the floor. **
** (4) Kibin points to buttons. **
(2) GM: It opens up, reavealing six colored switches; red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.
** (3) Elorin gets tired of having to follow mimes **
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Tongues ( level 4, "Speak any language" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(2) GM: You know what? I'm going to let that work.
(4) Kibin: (Lion language?)Bah, what good would that do if lion's can't speak.
(3) Elorin: (" This spell grants the creature touched the ability to speak and understand the language of any intelligent creature")
(2) GM: Ah, you can't speak to lions (they don't have a language), but it does permit the subject to speak any langauge otherwise.
(10) Kibin (enter): 12:07
(10) Kibin: (Lion language?)Bah, what good would that do if lion's can't speak.
(2) GM: Ah, you can't speak to lions (they don't have a language), but it does permit the subject to speak any langauge otherwise.
(3) Elorin: (" This spell grants the creature touched the ability to speak and understand the language of any intelligent creature")
(10) Kibin: (Okay, then.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Isn't Kibin intelligent?)
(3) Elorin: (so you can talk in common, or any other language you choose)
(10) Kibin: (So you touched me?O O.o(
(4) Kibin (exit): 12:07
(2) GM: (Yes, but lions don't have the proper vocal equipment - Elorin's spell fixes that little issue)
(10) Kibin: What good does... Huh, that's convienent.
(2) GM: (what, you don't trust spells from Elorin? Almost all his healing spells are touch range.....)
(10) Kibin: Anyway... these buttons are trapped, as well as the door.
(2) GM: Jason: And that's a problem how?
(3) Elorin: Have you figured out how to disable the traps?
(10) Kibin: Uh, I haven't tried disabling them yet. No.
(3) Elorin: And I suppose you need to be back in your normal form to do so well?
(10) Kibin: I was hoping that our new friend would know if you could press those buttons in a certain order, and disable the traps automatically.
(2) GM: The lion twists it's head at you, and has a look.
(10) Kibin: Thus saving us a lot of trouble, and making it a lot safer. Seeing as how he's been here a while and all that.
(2) GM: [1d20+33] -> [11,33] = (44)
whispering to GM, [1d2] -> [1] = (1)
** (10) Kibin steps back, and let the lion/eagle try and do it. **
whispering to GM, [1d100] -> [1] = (1)
whispering to GM, [1d100] -> [98] = (98)
(2) GM: The lion points at the blue switch, then backs off.
** (10) Kibin looks at Elorin, who probally is the best at shrugging off magical effects. "Okay, can you press the blue button then, please?" **
** (3) Elorin presses the blue button **
** (10) Kibin waits for something bad to happen. **
(2) GM: And the balcony vanishes.
(2) GM: Fortunately, Kaylin always prepares featherfall.....
(10) Kibin: What the...
Kaylin casts Feather Fall ( level 1, "Objects or creatures fall slowly." )
Kaylin can cast Feather Fall 0 more times
** (10) Kibin floats gently down to the ground. **
(10) Kibin: Oookay.
(2) GM: And everyone lands safely.
(2) GM: Jason walks down to join everone after a little bit.
(2) GM: Jason: Hmm. Wrong button.
(10) Kibin: I noticed.
(2) GM: Jason: Well, the panel still seems to be there; I suppose I could keep trying them until something happens.
(10) Kibin: True.
** (10) Kibin goes all ghostly again. **
(3) Elorin: We'll just wait at a distance...
** (3) Elorin starts walking away **
** (10) Kibin wonders why Elorin couldn't have used a windwalk instead of a polymorph spell. **
(2) GM: Kaylin: Umm... just don't have that happen again - that was the only one of those I prepared.....
(2) GM: Kaylin: And now that we've hit the ground, it's over.
(10) Kibin: Hey. We could just go to cloudy form.
(2) GM: Jason: Trying to find a seam, rather than try your luck with the switches?
(10) Kibin: No. When we're a cloud, we don't have to worry about falling.
(10) Kibin: See? Simple.
(2) GM: Jason: Presuming that's the only issue, yes. There were six switches, after all.
(10) Kibin: True. Although we could just stay back while you press buttons.
(2) GM: Jason: That works.....
(2) GM: Jason walks up to the balcony, and starts pressing switches.
(2) GM: When he hits the blue again, the balcony returns.
(10) Kibin: Out of curiosity, why couldn't we simply have used windwalk, instead of waiting for Kaylin to prepare a polymorph spell?
(2) GM: Jason: Because we didn't particularly think of it?
(10) Kibin: Interesting how we think of a complex solution when there's a simpler solution in front of us that we use on practically a daily bass.
(10) Kibin: (Basis*)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Fish...Fish would be nice.
(2) GM: Jason: Hey, anyone can miss th elephant in the room.
(2) GM: Jason presses buttons.
** (10) Kibin expects something bad to happen. **
(2) GM: How closely is everyone clustering?
(10) Kibin: (I'm staying far away from everyone. Say, 100 feet or more. :P)
** (3) Elorin is about 100 feet from the balcony **
** (5) Rilyrr is about 40 feet **
(10) Kibin: (And probally not clustering with anyone, as that makes us all a prime target for area effect spells.)
(3) Elorin: (horizontal distance)
(2) GM: And Eldon?
(10) Kibin: (I probally have vertical distance.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Yes?
(2) GM: How close while Jason pushes buttons?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Oh, right 40 feet)
(10) Kibin: (Seing as how I'm used to moving in three dimensions.)
(2) GM: Some other interesting effects happen as Jason eliminates possiblities.
(2) GM: [1d5[
(2) GM: [1d5] -> [4] = (4)
(2) GM: Spikes grow from the balcony.
(2) GM: [1d4] -> [1] = (1)
(2) GM: And then the door opens.
** (10) Kibin zooms through the door quickly before it closes or anything. **
(2) GM: Jason also walks through.
(2) GM: Jason: Which reminds me ... I need a ride out of here.
** (3) Elorin turns gaseous and goes through the door **
** (3) Elorin solidifies **
** (10) Kibin solidifies as well. **
(2) GM: The lion follows, and solidifies as well.
(10) Kibin: I don't mind being a sock puppet.
(3) Elorin: (isn't Jason's familiar here?)
(3) Elorin: (brb)
(10) Kibin: (Left behind for safty, I thought.)
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot also goes through the door. **
(2) GM: Jason (after having lost it on one adventure into known dangerous territory, left her behind)
(2) GM: Jason: I keep forgetting .... just as long as the transport doesn't take long.....
(2) GM: Shadow Conjouration, Level 4: Mimics conjuration below 4th level, but only 20% real
(10) Kibin: Okay, don't use me as a sock puppet then/
(2) GM: Jason calls up a celestial hippogrif.
(10) Kibin: Hmmmm, how do we get back again?
(2) GM: then possesses it.
(2) GM: Kaylin: This room isn't stopped on teleportation... I think....
** (10) Kibin wonders if anyone remembered to take bone fragment. **
(2) GM: Kaylin: Gather round, everyone, and hold hands, paws, or whatever, as appropriet.
(3) Elorin: (I did)
** (10) Kibin snuggles in close to Kaylin to teleport. **
(2) GM: As does Jason's fake hippogriff.
(2) GM: And the lion, suspiciously.
(2) GM: After everyone's touching, Kaylin casts her spell....
(2) GM: And the room vanishes, to be replaced by.... [1d100] -> [14] = (14)
(2) GM: The "old man's" cave.
(2) GM: Or rather, the outside enterence.
** (10) Kibin stops snuggling Kaylin, and says to the old man, "We have the bone fragment now." **
(10) Kibin: (I go in, of course.)
(2) GM: Kaylin stops, backs off a ways, and dispells her polymorph on the Eagle.
(2) GM: Kaylin: Have fun.
(2) GM: The colossal bird nods, plucks a feather, drops it to the ground, and flies away.
(2) GM: The feather smashes into the ground very heavily.
(5) Rilyrr: (did we ever figure out what the bird was?)
(2) GM: (Nobody meade the Knoweledge(The Planes) skill check)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Now there's a feather I wouldn't want to get hit by a pound of.
(10) Kibin: (No, but we do know that the feathers are worth a lot. :)
(5) Rilyrr: That may have been a bad idea....
(2) GM: Jason: But a pound of feathers weighs exactly the same as a pound of bricks.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Yes, but a pound of feathers is generally a lot softer.
(11) Kibin (enter): 12:32
(11) Kibin: (That may have been a bad idea...)(last line)
(2) GM: Jason: But a pound of feathers weighs exactly the same as a pound of bricks.
(2) GM: Eldon: yes, but a pound of feathers is generally a lot softer.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (9) Eldon Quickfoot: Yes, but a pound of feathers is generally a lot softer.

(10) Kibin (exit): 12:33
** (11) Kibin goes into the cave, and says to the old man, "We have the bone fragment now. Apparently some eagle was using the bones as a toothpick." **
(2) GM: Old Man: An eagle? Could you describe it for me?
(11) Kibin: Uh, really big?
** (11) Kibin briefly considers the impossibility of a talking lion. Hmmm. **
(3) Elorin: It gave us this feather before flying off.
(11) Kibin: Your friend had him in a cage, and he was trapped inside the mountain.
** (5) Rilyrr shows the man the feather **
(2) GM: Elorin - what's your maximum lift?
(2) GM: And Rilyrr, if you're planning on moving it as well.
(3) Elorin: (it's THAT heavy? let me go look that up...)
(11) Kibin: (Stop metagaming. :P)
(3) Elorin: (175 pounds)
(2) GM: Elorin - You can't budge the thing.
(5) Rilyrr: (sry, meant point it out)
(3) Elorin: (probably somewhere around 150 left after counting off my equipment weight)
(2) GM: The old man walks outside to have a look at the feather.
** (11) Kibin follows. **
(2) GM: Old Man: Ah, an eagle. Behemoth variety, quite intelligent. Wonder what it's doing here? This isn't it's home plane.
(11) Kibin: Who knows?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Havn't seen that guy for years.
(3) Elorin: What guy?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Sorry, just consider that OOC bad joke)
(2) GM: Old Man: Who
(11) Kibin: Uh, who has the bone fragment?
(2) GM: (Ever heard "Who's on first"?)
(11) Kibin: (Who's on first?)
(2) GM: (Right.)
(11) Kibin: (No, I'm wondering who is on first.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Didn't he build a plane?)
(3) Elorin: Anyway, here's the bone
(2) GM: (Who is on first)
(3) Elorin: (and What's on second)
(11) Kibin: (That's what I'm asking you.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (And I'm telling you!)
(3) Elorin: (isn't "I don't give a damn" or something like that the pitcher?)
(11) Kibin: By the way... How old is your friend?
(2) GM: (Link to Skit)
(2) GM: Old Man: If I knew that, I wouldn't need the bone.
(2) GM: Old Man: She is into adulthood, though.
(11) Kibin: Wait. You have no clue how old your friend is?
(3) Elorin: (oh, wait, I don't give a darn is the shortstop)
(2) GM: Old Man: I'm not crazy enough to ask a woman her age, especially when it runs in centuries, minimum.
(3) Elorin: I wonder, do dragons that old have trouble keeping track of their age?
(2) GM: Old Man: If you want to ask her after I have her back up and about, you're welcome to do so..... as long as you ask elsewhere. I'd rather she not get upset in here.
(2) GM: (shortstop - and depended on the crowd)
(3) Elorin: Before you do that, is the scroll finished?
(2) GM: Old Man: Ah, yes, it is; here you go. Can I get a pice of her?
(11) Kibin: I would guess a few thousand years.
(11) Kibin: Or at least a thousand years. Hmmm.
** (3) Elorin hands over the bone **
(2) GM: Old Man: Ah, good.
** (11) Kibin goes over to the wagon and sees if the gem is still glowy inside for him. **
(3) Elorin: Now, is this durable enough to be used underwater, or will we have to talk Sawunn into coming with us somewhere?
(2) GM: The scroll seems to be made of copper sheeting.
(2) GM: Old Man: Oh, it will survive a lake for a time.
(11) Kibin: (Mmmm, tarnish. :P)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: How about an ocean?
(2) GM: Jason: Wasn't the plan to have me hand it to him anyway? From where I stand?
(3) Elorin: Long enough for this spell's casting?
(11) Kibin (whispering): Shiney gem or regular gem?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (I would like to request that our next plot be simpler...:) )
(2) GM: Old Man: Seawater is another story..... but it should last just long enough.
(2) GM: (You missed the clearing of the bandits already)
(2) GM: Jason: Away from the water?
whispering to Kibin, still shiny, but only very faintly.
** (11) Kibin goes back to the group. Interesting. **
** (11) Kibin is still probally a lion. Hmmmm. **
(2) GM: Old Man: Let's get you back into something with hands.....
(3) Elorin: (polymorph is only a minute/level)
(3) Elorin: (and dismissable)
(11) Kibin: (WHich is 16 minutes. And Kaylin hasn't dispelled it yet.)
(2) GM: Kaylin gestures rudely at kibin, and he returns to his previous shape.
(11) Kibin: (Rather, 15 minutes.)
(2) GM: (16; Ioun stone)
(11) Kibin: Thank you.
(3) Elorin: (I'm the one with the Ioun Stone, and she didn't borrow it for this)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Chocolate milk - BRB)
(2) GM: (Ah, okay - here I thought she had either purchased one or had you help in making one.... oops. Oh well.)
(11) Kibin: Could have done without the gesture, however...
(2) GM: Kaylin: Most spells are dismissed with a gesture. Of course it was needed.
(11) Kibin: Right.
(11) Kibin: Do we have enough teleports to go over to that place and back?
(2) GM: Kaylin: Yeah; I prepared plenty today. Figured I'd be back, and we'd want to take care of the ghost.
(2) GM: Kaylin: First, though.....
(2) GM: Kaylin grabs the scroll, goes on an ehterial jaunt, and hands it to Jason.
(2) GM: Grr... Ethereal...
** (11) Kibin wonders what kinds of things Kaylin could do with Jason with ethereal jaunt. **
(3) Elorin: Let's see, thing to decide before we go: cast it there or on land, with Sawunn possessing someone or not (his appearance might be a problem), with how many/which of us present for the casting
(2) GM: (at a round a level, not too terribly much. Enough time for a Plane Shift, though....)
(3) Elorin: Also, I'd suggest that we point out it requires a willing subject, and offer to provide one in Kibin provided he lets us choose the form to be transformed into (wyrmling silver dragon)
(11) Kibin: (Aw, why not something a little bigger.)
(2) GM: (because your damage is dominated by sneak attack anyway, and SR causes problems for little things like healing someone who has gone unconscious?)
(3) Elorin: (also, how's the 2000 xp cost going to work with this scroll?)
(3) Elorin: (did the old man pay it when he made it?)
(11) Kibin: (SR isn't until young adult.)
(11) Kibin: (Sadly, it doesn't let me use spelllike abilities. Otherwise I could have a small casting ability. :D)
(11) Kibin: (Anyway...)
(11) Kibin: Sure, fine with me.
(2) GM: Jason: Personally, I'd rather he didn't have to hold onto someone while casting; it cuts down on the need to heal the host, and cuts down on the messy business of suberting another's will.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Groceries)
(2) GM: (Tasty)
(11) Kibin: (Scrolls always take one standard action, I thought. Hmmmm.)
(3) Elorin: (that's the minimum, I think)
(2) GM: (unless the spell takes longer - in which case, it takes that long. Doesn't work the other way, though, so scrolls of featherfalling don't usually work out too well)
(3) Elorin: (if the spell takes longer, that takes precedence)
(11) Kibin: Sounds good, I guess.
(11) Kibin: Jason, perhaps you should go over there, and ask him to come here?
(11) Kibin: Seeing as how we'd have to stay underwater for 2 days if he stays there.
(3) Elorin: Yeah, I don't like it either, but I don't want to have to be looking away for the entire casting to avoid being weakened by his horrific appearance
(2) GM: Jason: I've never walked that route, and I cant teleport very far.
(11) Kibin: Hmmmmph. Well, we don't ALL have to go over there.
(11) Kibin: (*pokes GM and people*)
(2) GM: Jason: Perhaps Kaylin could go.....
(2) GM: Kaylin: I suppose... Rilyrr, do you have another of those water breathing spells handy?
(5) Rilyrr: Sorry, I could prepare some but that would take another day
(11) Kibin: Borrow a necklace of adaptation?
(3) Elorin: Didn't you keep your Necklace of Adaptation?
(3) Elorin: (I though Kibin was the only one that sold it)
(2) GM: Kaylin: I'd rather not remove the amulet of health I'm wearing.....
(3) Elorin: (*thought)
(11) Kibin: (I didn't sell it! Just misplaced it.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Back)
(2) GM: Kaylin: But I suppose, for a short time....
(2) GM: Kaylin removes the amulet about her neck, digs a necklace out, and puts it on.
(2) GM: Spot checks?
(11) Kibin: [1d20+13] -> [4,13] = (17)
(5) Rilyrr: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+27] -> [9,27] = (36)
(3) Elorin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [2,10] = (12)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20] -> [4] = (4)
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot wonders where the cieling has gone **
(2) GM: She standing in the entrance to the cave....
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Spot is Wis, right?)
(5) Rilyrr: (i have to go, ill probably come back later)
(11) Kibin: (Yeah. Your hearing increases as you get older. :D)
(5) Rilyrr: Disconnecting from server...
(5) Rilyrr (exit): 13:07
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah, D&D. 'Silliness', to qoute a vorlon)
whispering to Kibin, you notice that dust swirls around her normally on the side of her that isn't in the cave, but the dust that would otherwise come close to her on the inside of the cave gets brushed away by a minor breeze....
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Or misqoute)
(11) Kibin: That's odd.
(2) GM: Kaylin: What?
(11) Kibin: The dust on the side outside the cave isn't being moved away by that necklace.
(2) GM: Kaylin: We never did properly identify these, did we? Would everyone mind too much getting theirs out too?
(11) Kibin: Sure.
** (11) Kibin takes out his necklace. **
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Does Eldon have one?)
** (3) Elorin takes out his necklace **
(3) Elorin: (not unless you got one in character creation)
(2) GM: Umm, not unless he bought one; Derrel did, though.....
Kaylin casts Analyze Dweomer ( level 6, "Reveals magical aspects of subject." )
Kaylin can cast Analyze Dweomer 0 more times
(2) GM: Kaylin looks at them one by one.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah, headband of intellect - Doesn't that take the amulet slot?)
(3) Elorin: (no)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ok)
(11) Kibin: (No, it takes the headband slot. x.x)
(3) Elorin: http://d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/magicItemBasics.htm#magicItemsOnTheBody
(2) GM: Kaylin: Sigh. Seems mine isn't quite normal. Only works underground. A miner wouldn't care, of course, that's where they need them.....
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Oh, from the mines)
(2) GM: Kaylin: The rest of them are, though. Good thing you mentioned it....
(2) GM: (head slot: "one headband, hat, helmet, or phylactery on the head" )
(11) Kibin: Guess it is a good thing, otherwise you'd be sleeping with the fishies.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah, thanks)
(2) GM: Kaylin: Yeah. Saying spell components underwater without breathing aids was not part of my training.
(3) Elorin: (heh, eye lenses/goggles is the only slot I don't have filled)
(2) GM: (need Darkvision?)
(11) Kibin: Well, might as well poof in and out.
(2) GM: Kaylin: Yeah, um, anyone care to trade neckalces?
(11) Kibin: Oh, I will.
** (11) Kibin trades necklaces with Kaylin. **
(2) GM: Kaylin: Thanks....
(2) GM: Kaylin teleports out, and soonafter, teleports back in.
(2) GM: [1d20+17] -> [8,17] = (25)
(2) GM: Seemingly alone.
(11) Kibin: (And?)
(2) GM: Kaylin: So, do you have the scroll?
** (11) Kibin points to Jason. **
(2) GM: Kaylin closes her eyes and slaps her forehead.
(2) GM: Kaylin: Dang it!
(2) GM: Where's everyone looking?
(11) Kibin: (Jason, probally.)
(3) Elorin: Wis check: [1d20+8] -> [7,8] = (15)
(3) Elorin: (averted gaze, her question and reaction made me suspicious)
(2) GM: [1d100] -> [71] = (71)
(2) GM: [1d100] -> [63] = (63)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Int check: [1d20+8] -> [14,8] = (22)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hmm...Probably suspcious)
(2) GM: [1d100] -> [89] = (89)
(2) GM: [1d100] -> [76] = (76)
(2) GM: Elorin and Eldon - two fort saves each.
(3) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+18] -> [11,18] = (29)
(3) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+18] -> [10,18] = (28)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+13] -> [4,13] = (17)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+13] -> [19,13] = (32)
(2) GM: Elorin - immune to the Horrific appearence for now, suffer [2d10] -> [9,10] = (19) hp and [1d4] -> [1] = (1) charisma damage.
(3) Elorin: (Heroes' Feast: [1d8+10] -> [4,10] = (14))
(2) GM: Eldon - made the second, missed the first; take [1d4] -> [2] = (2) str, [1d4] -> [2] = (2) dex, and [1d4] -> [4] = (4) con damage.
(2) GM: Sawunn steps out of Kaylin, who blinks a few times.
(17) Kibin (enter): 13:22
(2) GM: Jason just grins, and tells Kibin not to look away.
(17) Kibin: Okay, I'll take your word on that.
(11) Kibin (exit): 13:24
(2) GM: Jason: Or rather, don't look behind you. I do need to walk around to hand someone a scroll, and you don't want to see him today.
(17) Kibin: Now, about that spell... Would you mind casting it on me, so I can be a silver dragon yet again?
(2) GM: Jason walks over to the other ghost, and hands him a scroll.
(3) Elorin: You do need a willing subject for the spell to work, Sawunn.
(2) GM: The ghost looks at it for a time, mumbles, and gestures.
(2) GM: Sawunn: Oh, it would also work on someone who was asleep... or unconscious.....
(2) GM: Sawunn: But we have a volunteer..... at my tender mercies..... hmm... but I don't have a dragon in my collection yet.....
(3) Elorin: Why bother with the effort, though, when you have a volunteer right here?
(2) GM: Sawunn: Decisions, Decisions......
whispering to Unknown!, [1d100] -> [43] = (43)
1 Unknown!
(17) Kibin: Collection?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Why isn't there a spell to send ghosts on?)
(17) Kibin: (Because that ruins the plot.)
(3) Elorin: (oh, I imagine Miracle could do it, usually)
(2) GM: Sawunn: So you want to be a dragon; and you're willing to trust me.... very well.....
(2) GM: Sawunn laughs maniacally.
(3) Elorin: A silver dragon, specifically
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Kibin: At this point, I just want the ghost gone)
(2) GM: Sawunn: Shall we begin?
(17) Kibin: Sure, before I change my mind...
(2) GM: Sawunn: Oh, you'll have lots of time.....
(2) GM: Sawunn begins reading.....
(2) GM: So, what's everyone doing for the next 48 hours?
(3) Elorin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+8] -> [5,8] = (13)
** (3) Elorin probably doesn't have a clue whether he's actually going to go with silver dragon **
whispering to Elorin, You're suddenly very paranoid that Kibin is out to get you......
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense motive: [1d20+19] -> [10,19] = (29)
(17) Kibin: (Reading books in wagon, being careful to not look at ghost,)
(17) Kibin: (And worrying. :P)
(2) GM: Looking at Sawunn to do so, or going just by ear?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ear)
(17) Kibin: (Oh. And I take off magic items, just in case.)
(17) Kibin: (As magic can interfere with each other.)
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, You find you can't read Sawunn - at all.
(2) GM: After a little while, a shell forms around Kibin.
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot keeps withing hearing range. **
(2) GM: And he can't read his books anymore.
** (17) Kibin waits, then. Hmmmph. **
whispering to Kibin, You lose sight of yourself, and lose track of time.
** (3) Elorin stays nearby **
(2) GM: After 48 hours.....
(3) Elorin: (has it been a week since the trial yet? Is my Ring of Sustenance working again?)
(2) GM: Sawunn: There. All done. Hah! I new it was possible. Now to.... wait.... what's that?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Go toward the light, Sawunn...Go toward the light...)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: ( :D )
(17) Kibin: (Haha. :D)
(3) Elorin: (Step into the light...)
(2) GM: Kaylin: What's what?
(2) GM: Sawunn: That beast ... can't you see it?
(2) GM: Jason
(2) GM: Jason: Farmer man!
(3) Elorin: Huh?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (I have been chosen...By the big metal hand...In the sky!)
** (3) Elorin looks around **
(17) Kibin: (Alignment change for being nice and letting me be a silver dragon? I think...)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (There is peace and serenity in the light)
(2) GM: Elorin doesn't see anyone.....
(2) GM: (Kibin if you like.....)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Warcraft is funny)
(17) Kibin: (Comeon, he could have a change of heart and go on to heaven. GO HAPPY ENDINGS! :P)
(3) Elorin: (oh, is this "Farmer man" the grim reaper?)
(2) GM: Sawunn: No..... I still haven't conquered the world! It's mine! All mine! Now that I have the po.....
(3) Elorin: (lol)
(17) Kibin: (Okay, so much for alignment change. Funny nonetheless. :D)
(2) GM: Sawunn's sentence is abruptly cut off as his head separates from what's left of his body.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Magic is not for everyone...Side effects may include - , death and halotosis)
(3) Elorin: (what, was he planning on turning someone into a pet Tarrasque or something?)
(2) GM: Shortly thereafter, he otherwise gets cut into pieces ....
(2) GM: Spot checks?
(3) Elorin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [11,10] = (21)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20] -> [19] = (19)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Oh, *That's* where it is...
(2) GM: Except for Kibin, of course, still stuck in his egg.
(3) Elorin: (egg? O.o)
(2) GM: The blows cutting Sawunn up seem to be the same a farmer might use with a scyth when taking down a particularly noxious weed......
(3) Elorin: (are we going to have to hatch him?)
(2) GM: Shortly thereafter, the pieces appear to get picked up, and tossed into an invisible basket, vanishing from view.
** (3) Elorin cheers the Grim Reaper on **
(2) GM: Jason: Do you have a bed for me?
(2) GM: Jason runs off in a seemingly random direction.
(2) GM: Jason: Come back! I need to rest!
(17) Kibin: (Poor Jason.)
(2) GM: After a while, Jason comes back.
(2) GM: Jason: I couldn't keep up.....
(17) Kibin: (Unable to rest until all of us die.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Maybe it's not your time...
(17) Kibin: (And even then some. None of us can be ressurected.)
(2) GM: Jason: Oh well ....
(17) Kibin: (It's possible that Jason stays on this earth until the end of time. Hmmmm.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (No ressurection if you die of old age...)
(2) GM: Jason: An egg?
(17) Kibin: (Well, he has to make sure I can't be ressurected.)
(2) GM: Jason: Well, it's a silver dragon egg.....
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Presumably Kibin.
(3) Elorin: (just wait, one of us will reach epic levels and keep taking Extended Lifespan)
(3) Elorin: (:P)
whispering to Kibin, You get hungry, and there's nothing in the egg for you to eat.
(3) Elorin: So, Kaylin, any idea how long until he hatches?
(2) GM: Kalin walks over and touches the egg.
(17) Kibin (whispering): I guess this would be time for me to get out, then.
whispering to Kibin, Or try, anyway; birds tend to be very, very exhausted after hatching.... breaking a shell is difficult.
(2) GM: Kaylin
(17) Kibin (whispering): Yeah, try to get out at least.
(2) GM: Kaylin: Shouldn't be long. The shell's at the appropriet hardness.
(17) Kibin: (Hey, we have a wizened old man who's very wise and for some reason doesn't just blow up the enemies even though he's uber powerful! Sterotypes rule!)
(17) Kibin (whispering): Okay, so I try to get out, then.
(17) Kibin: (And who appears to help the main characters.)
(17) Kibin: (And injects humor into situation.)
(2) GM: (Not wise; just a good man who is overly cautious - he does almost nothing that risks himself; he didn't stick around to view the calling, but lent his spellbook for it; he didn't smash the guild himself, but told someone who could do so something that was going on there; he didn't tell students to flee, but he handed out homework in such a way that all the ones who needed saving were gone when the attack came.... and so on.)
(17) Kibin: (So basically a plot device? :)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Or a plotting device)
(17) Kibin: (*pokes Elorin and Eldon. DO SOMETHING ALREADY*)\
(2) GM: (A frightened old man very concerned about his own mortality.....)
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot does backflips **
(2) GM: Kaylin: Does Kibin know it's time to get out?
(2) GM: Kibin - listen check.
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot knocks on the shell. "Time to get out!" **
(17) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [11,18] = (29)
whispering to Kibin, you hear Eldon.
(17) Kibin (whispering): Okay, can I try to get out already? :P
(3) Elorin: Crack your shell!
whispering to Kibin, Yep; attack the shell. Your best attack vs. the shell is a 1d6+1 (+1 from strength)
** (17) Kibin tries getting out, then... **
(17) Kibin: [1d6+1] -> [1,1] = (2)
(2) GM: Everyone hears a tap from the shell, but nothing happens.
(17) Kibin: (*just does full attacks till he gets out*)
(17) Kibin: Bite: [1d6+1] -> [1,1] = (2)
(17) Kibin: Claws: [1d4+1] -> [4,1] = (5) [1d4+1] -> [1,1] = (2)
(2) GM: More tapping, also to no effect.
(17) Kibin: Bite: [1d6+1] -> [1,1] = (2)
(17) Kibin: Claws: [1d4+1] -> [2,1] = (3) [1d4+1] -> [4,1] = (5)
(2) GM: More tapping, also to no effect.
(17) Kibin: Bite: [1d6+1] -> [3,1] = (4)
(17) Kibin: Claws: [1d4+1] -> [3,1] = (4) [1d4+1] -> [4,1] = (5)
(2) GM: More tapping, also to no effect.
(17) Kibin: (Bleh. :P)
(3) Elorin: Uh, do silver dragons normally need help breaking their shells?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Try freezing it - Might shatter easier)
whispering to Kibin, need a 6 or better to damage the shell.... hardness, you know.....
(17) Kibin: (Well I don't know that. :P)
(17) Kibin: Bite: [1d6+1] -> [2,1] = (3)
(17) Kibin: Claws: [1d4+1] -> [4,1] = (5) [1d4+1] -> [3,1] = (4)
(17) Kibin: Bite: [1d6+1] -> [4,1] = (5)
(17) Kibin: Bite: [1d6+1] -> [6,1] = (7)
(2) GM: Kaylin: No, but it taks a while; they usually get out after an hour or two....
(2) GM: Lots of tapping, and a faint crack appears in the shell.
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot takes a nap. **
(17) Kibin (whispering): Since claws does nothing, I won't bother with them. :P
(17) Kibin: Bite: [1d6+1] -> [1,1] = (2)
(17) Kibin: Bite: [1d6+1] -> [4,1] = (5)
(17) Kibin: Bite: [1d6+1] -> [2,1] = (3)
(17) Kibin: Bite: [1d6+1] -> [3,1] = (4)
(17) Kibin: Bite: [1d6+1] -> [1,1] = (2)
(17) Kibin: Bite: [1d6+1] -> [1,1] = (2)
(17) Kibin: Bite: [1d6+1] -> [5,1] = (6)
(17) Kibin: (Very unlucky rolls. O.o_
(2) GM: Lots more tapping, and the crack widens just a hair.
(17) Kibin: Bite: [1d6+1] -> [4,1] = (5)
(17) Kibin: Bite: [1d6+1] -> [4,1] = (5)
(3) Elorin: (assuming hardness 5, it's average 3 damage every 6 rounds)
(17) Kibin: (Bah, screw this slowness.)
(17) Kibin: [100d6] -> [3,3,4,2,2,2,1,2,2,2,1,1,4,5,6,5,1,5,2,4,1,4,1,2,4,2,5,3,4,4,5,3,4,4,6,2,6,1,4,4,3,5,3,4,3,4,4,4,5,6,1,3,2,2,5,5,3,3,1,3,4,5,1,4,4,6,1,5,2,3,3,2,1,1,6,1,5,1,2,1,1,5,4,3,5,3,4,3,1,4,3,2,5,1,3,3,6,3,4,4] = (320)
(17) Kibin: (There. :P)
(2) GM: After about an hour, Kibin finally manages to poke his head out.
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot snores **
(2) GM: Oh, and make a Forrt save.
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot wakes up **
(17) Kibin: [1d20+12] -> [6,12] = (18)
(2) GM: You're fatigued.
(2) GM: -2 to Str and Dex for a while.
(2) GM: And you're still stuck.
(17) Kibin: (Joy.)
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [5,10] = (15)
** (17) Kibin wriggles around a bit, and works on getting the rest of him free. **
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (At least now, you don't have to worry about running out of air)
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot goes back to sleep. **
(17) Kibin: (Except that, aren't eggs transparent to air?)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (I dunno)
(2) GM: (They pass oxygen; how else could a little chick survive for a couple of weeks stuck inside a shell?
(2) GM: )
(17) Kibin: (Anyway, now I can only get out on a natural 6. :P)
(17) Kibin: [100d6] -> [5,3,2,5,6,1,4,5,4,1,6,6,1,2,1,5,2,6,6,1,2,6,2,3,2,3,5,5,1,6,6,2,1,4,2,6,2,5,4,1,3,3,5,4,1,6,3,5,2,2,3,1,4,4,3,4,2,4,4,6,1,3,3,2,1,3,5,1,1,6,4,6,1,2,5,2,5,2,4,3,3,2,6,3,1,3,5,5,4,3,3,5,5,5,2,1,5,1,1,5] = (337)
(17) Kibin: (Wooooo, lookie at all those 6's at the beginning.)
(3) Elorin: (just determined to do it all by yourself, aren't you?)
(17) Kibin: (Maybe a bit. :P)
(2) GM: You manage to widen the gap, but still can't quite squeeze through. Make another Fort save.
(17) Kibin: [1d20+12] -> [19,12] = (31)
(17) Kibin: (Ooo, got lucky. :P)
(2) GM: Congrats; you're still merely fatigued.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Anyone know what Eldons' HP was?)
(17) Kibin: (Birds don't need help to get out of eggs. :P)
** (17) Kibin wriggles around a bit more, and continues trying to bite his way out. He's determined, that's for sure. **
(17) Kibin: [100d6] -> [5,1,4,4,2,6,3,6,4,5,5,3,3,2,6,1,6,5,2,3,2,4,2,1,2,3,1,1,1,2,1,1,5,2,1,5,3,1,6,2,5,3,4,6,1,5,1,1,5,6,1,6,5,6,4,4,1,4,4,4,2,4,5,6,4,2,4,1,6,3,5,1,1,6,2,1,3,1,3,4,6,2,5,3,5,6,2,4,1,4,2,4,6,2,1,6,4,5,6,2] = (338)
(2) GM: And Kibin finally manages to break out of his shell completely. Make a Fort save.
(17) Kibin: [1d20+12] -> [2,12] = (14)
(17) Kibin: (And now my luck runs out again.)
(2) GM: And he's Exhausted. -6 on Str and Dex for a while.
(2) GM: Although there are lots of pieces of pretty silver shell lying about.
** (17) Kibin hits the snow outside the egg, panting heavily. **
(3) Elorin: Congratulations Kibin, you're back to your, er, recent self.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Would have recovered 2 to Str, Dex and Con over 48 hours...)
(2) GM: Four, with complete rest.
(17) Kibin: (True, except I thought I've only been at it 3 hours.)
(3) Elorin: (or instantly on asking for a Heal)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Spell time)
(2) GM: (He's referring to the damage from seeing the ghost....)
(17) Kibin: (Ah.)
** (17) Kibin too tired to talk... **
(2) GM: Kaylin: Hmm, atypically slow.... just as well you weren't competeing with other chicks.
(17) Kibin: (I'd like to see a standard wrymling do this, with only +6 to fortitude saves.)
(2) GM: An hour later, having completly rested on the ground, Kibni goes from Exhausted to Fatigued.
(17) Kibin: That was interesting...
(2) GM: (Average on 100d6 is 350; you were getting sub-par rolls)
(17) Kibin: (Bleh.)
(3) Elorin: Well, that was interesting. I could use a break from hard adventuring for a few days, though.
(17) Kibin: And very, very tiring...
(2) GM: Jason bends down to look at the shell fragments.
(2) GM: Jason: Anyone know anything about metalurgy?
(2) GM: Jason: Or how to assess value?
(3) Elorin: Kaylin's the knowledge buff
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot mumbles 'No' in his sleep. **
** (17) Kibin finnally picks himself off the ground, and stands. **
(2) GM: Appraise Skill Check: [1d20+8] -> [15,8] = (23)
(2) GM: (Yeah, but she doesn't have any ranks in Appraise)
(17) Kibin: How much time passed?
(3) Elorin: Two days for the casting plus a few hours while you broke out of the shell and another hour while you slept.
(2) GM: Jason: Oh, two days for the spell, and hour before you decided to try and hatch, and about three for you to break out.
whispering to GM, [2d6+3] -> [4,6,3] = (13)
(17) Kibin: Doesn't seem that long for me.
(2) GM: Kaylin: This shell... it's silver.
(2) GM: Kaylin: Real silver.
(17) Kibin: Really?
(3) Elorin: Interesting
whispering to GM, Should be worth about 325 gold pieces.
(2) GM: Kaylin: Should be worth about 325 gold pieces.
** (3) Elorin idly wonders how much a collector of such things might pay for an authentic silver dragon egg shell **
whispering to GM, Actually 250, but Kaylin rolled high on her untrained appraisal offset.
(17) Kibin: Well, that would explain why it took so long for me to get out...
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (I dunno - Is it authentic?)
(3) Elorin: (heh, maybe we should have asked for wyrmling gold :P)
(3) Elorin: (or, is there such a thing as a platinum dragon?)
(2) GM: (Somewhere, I'm sure; Core? No.)
(2) GM: Jason: So, what next?
(17) Kibin: Rest?
(3) Elorin: Take a break for a few days. Sell our accumulated loot.
(2) GM: Jason: Ah, I take it you have something you wanted to make?
(3) Elorin: Not particularly.
(3) Elorin: We just have a fair pile by now, and we've got the time
(3) Elorin: Unless something else comes up all of a sudden.
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot wakes up **
(17) Kibin: I vote for taking it easy for a while.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Pixie barbarian looks like a fun choice...)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Inheret Greater Invisibility...)
(3) Elorin: (wait, you want to play a class that swings big weapons real hard with a race that's tiny?)
(17) Kibin: (*pokes to IC.*)
(17) Kibin: Maybe meet the old man's friend?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (They have greater invisibility!)
(2) GM: Better for a Rogue.....
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yeah...But pixie barbarian is cooler)
(3) Elorin: (hmm, they might make good swashbuckler/duelists, though)
(3) Elorin: (huge +dex and _int)
(3) Elorin: (+int)
(17) Kibin: (*pokes IC*)
(2) GM: Rogue, Wizard, Sorceror, or Even Cleric (if the spellcasters don't mind the +4 LA....)
(2) GM: +8 Dex, +6 Int, +4 Wis, +6 charisma (but -4 Str)
(2) GM: You hear some noises from deep within the old man's cave.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (And a vorpal scythe)
(2) GM: Spellcraft check?
(17) Kibin: (Me not know spellcraft.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (BRB)
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [7,19] = (26)
whispering to Elorin, A number of spells - Moment of Prescience, Magic Circle against good, Dimensional Anchor, and Greater Planar Binding
whispering to GM, [1d20+20] -> [16,20] = (36)
(3) Elorin: What, he only just now got around to resurrecting his friend?
(3) Elorin: Or is whatever being he summoned being spectacularly difficult to bargain with?
** (17) Kibin scuttles off into the cave to see what's happening. **
whispering to GM, [1d20+20+5] -> [18,20,5] = (43) vs. [1d20+6+3] -> [20,6,3] = (29)
** (3) Elorin follows Kibin **
(2) GM: Inside the cave....
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Back)
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot follows Elorin **
(2) GM: You see the old man, in dragon form, speaking with a very beautiful winged woman with blond hair in a white robe, wearing a cloak.
(2) GM: Woman: Look, this is the third time you've called me. I've told you; we're through. I've had enough of your machinations!
(2) GM: "Old Man": Yes, but this time I'm not asking you out.
(2) GM: Woman: Oh? And what did you call me for, then?
** (17) Kibin sits down and watches. **
** (3) Elorin laughs **
** (3) Elorin sits down, shaking his head ruefully **
(2) GM: "Old Man": Well, there's this other dragon I want to ask out, but there's a slight catch; she was killed a few years ago.
(2) GM: Woman: Oh, I see. And you just expect me to go ahead and do what you ask after THAT breakup, especially as it would make you happy?
(2) GM: "Old Man": Well yes. Especially as you're quite stuck.
(2) GM: Woman: Bah! I was on guard duty! They'll come looking for me as soon as my shift's up, and then... oh then.... they won't be happy with you disrupting the army's schedual again.
(2) GM: "Old Man": What, I'm not allowed to Call on old friends?
(2) GM: Woman: There's a war going on! You pull people from the front lines! That little spell of your's you lent to that one chick pulled a key player from the battle. We had to retreat thanks to you! An entire city burned!
(2) GM: "Old Man": Was anyone left inside?
(2) GM: Woman: No, you know we evacuate all the cities on the front lines, save for the military personell, who went with the withdrawl.
(2) GM: "Old Man": So what's the problem? It was just some buildings.
(2) GM: The woman glares at him for a moment.
(2) GM: "Old Man": Look, I have the diamonds right here; you can put the spell in my ring, and be on your merry way.
(2) GM: The woman glares at him.
(2) GM: "Old Man": Okay, okay, so you won't be on your merry way until tomorrow, as you probably haven't the spell ready right now.....
(2) GM: Woman: Actually, I do - wartime, you know. *Sigh* do you happen to have any of those Time Stop scrolls? We could use a few.
(2) GM: "Old Man": Why yes, yes I do; I know they are always in short supply......
(2) GM: Woman: Fine. Two scrolls, and I'll Raise your hussy for you.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Someone could ask about the paladin...)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Someone who knew him...)
(2) GM: Jason: By the way - how's Derrel fairing?
(2) GM: Woman: Oh, he's died about three times so far, pretty good, for the front lines. He's come back when we called for him each time so far. Quite the dedicated soldier.
(3) Elorin: (O.o)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Thank you)
(18) Kibin (enter): 14:38
(2) GM: Woman: Gah, those stupid things. Nobody seems to know what they are or where they're from. And they're spreading to planes other than the initial outbreak. *sigh*, at least we have them contained, for now.
(18) Kibin: (Last line I heard was derrel dying three times.)
(2) GM: Woman: Gah, those stupid things. Nobody seems to know what they are or where they're from. And they're spreading to planes other than the initial outbreak. *sigh*, at least we have them contained, for now.
(17) Kibin (exit): 14:40
(2) GM: Jason: Things?
** (18) Kibin sits and listens patiently. **
(2) GM: Woman: They look like clockwork golems - but the standard counters to golems simply don't work; the assorted binding spells used to control one don't function. They don't register as magic. Yet they somehow manage to do things that you shouldn't be able to do without magic.
(2) GM: Woman: Dismissal doesn't even work. It fails, as though it hit a barn, rather than a critter from another plane. It's infuriating.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Robots!)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: ( :D )
(2) GM: Woman: They do fall under the sword, though ... that's something, anyway; enough hits and they vanish, back to wherever prison in the abyss they broke out of.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: What do they look like?
** (18) Kibin lays down on the ground as he listens. **
(2) GM: Woman: Oh, about four times your height, some odd purple metal, pistons pounding arms and legs, much like Inevitables, but no head.
(2) GM: Woman: I'm told it's adamantium. But somehow, there's no maigic involved. It's crazy!
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Thank you. I'll keep an eye out.
(18) Kibin: (May have to poof a little, people working on internet.)
(18) Kibin: (Want to take a small break for supper?)
(2) GM: Woman: Yeah, keep an eye out. They throw these little pellets of metal faster than the eye can see; we've even had a few of the Great Eagles look, and they miss them. But we sure can tell when they hit.....
(3) Elorin: Adamantium? There was a powerful demon making deals with the ex owner of the Adamine a while back.
(2) GM: (Lunch, anyway.... back in, say, an hour?)
(18) Kibin: (Sure.)
(2) GM: (Objections?)
(18) Kibin: (Or maybe half an hour.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Nope)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Robots with guns!)
(3) Elorin: (I'll just play NWN in the mean time)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Where's Samuri Jack when you need him? :D )
(2) GM: Half an hour, then....
(3) Elorin: (you think 5 attacks per round is powerful, try 10 :D)
(2) GM:

(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Samuri Jack?)
(18) Kibin (exit): 14:51
(2) GM: (cartoon character - should be able to find him with a quick search online)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (I know - I was asking to what Elorins' statement refered)
(2) GM: The Never Winter Nights comment?
(2) GM: Or the 10 attacks per round?
(2) GM: I imagine SJ would be better modeled by a Monk with a Defending RobotBane +5 Sword of Speed.....
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (The ten attacks per round)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hmm...Holy, not Bane)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Remember, it cannot harm an innocent)
(2) GM: (Robot Bane works; just add "merciful" and "intelligent" to the mix; it gets to chose who it cuts and who it doesn't.)
(2) GM: (add an at-will detect alignment ability - Good, say, so it can distinguish the innocent from the not-innocent, that it uses every turn on it's own action, and presto!)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yeah, but it can affect a being who is not normally harmed by anything)
(2) GM: What penetrates DR 10/magic?
(2) GM: Ah, he's using 3.0 DR rules; DR 30/+4, perhaps; good luck getting through that without a +4 weapon.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (What are you looking at?)
(2) GM: You mean the 3.0 DR rules? No specific critter, but they had higher DR values, a little more variance on DR, but a +5 weapon would get you through DR X/Adamantium/Cold Iron/Silver/+1/+2/+3/+4/+5; one weapon, rather than several. Course, the DR was considerably higher.....
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah, thanks)
(2) GM: DR /+4, however, couldn't be penetrated by a +3 weapon (just +4 or better), so the attacker simply had to suck up the reduction in how much damage was dealt.
(2) GM: Ah, he's also got the two-weapon fighting chain, in addition to his flurry, and a DM that lets him use both at the same time.... that could get up to about 10 attacks/round.....
(2) GM: Could also do it with the mobility chain and Whirlwind attack......
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (When does SJ fight with two weapons?)
(2) GM: Whenever he uses his hands and feat.
(3) Elorin: (10 attacks per round is possible at level 20 in NWN)
(3) Elorin: (4 fighter/16 monk)
(3) Elorin: (+16 BAB with monk "unarmed" attack progression is 16/13/10/7/4/1)
(3) Elorin: (add two off hand attacks (you need to use Kamas for this) for 8 attacks)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah, right)
(3) Elorin: (add one for flurry and one for haste)
(3) Elorin: (now, technically, I think 11 attacks per round could be achieved by fighter 19/monk 1, but I like all the monk class abilities too much)
(3) Elorin: (heh, I find a Mantle of Epic Spell Resistance (SR 32) in a shop and laugh at how I already have that as a class feature)
(3) Elorin: (same with poison/disease immunity)
(2) GM: (Monks are great for getting through the Prismatic line of spells)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Munchkin. :D )
(3) Elorin: (and then there are these absolutely wonderful weapons I got the epic drow weapon smith to upgrade for me...)
(3) Elorin: (Kama, +10 enhancement, Keen, permanent True Sight, +2d6 energy damage (electricity on one, acid on the other), +2 regen on each, DC 22 fort save or take strength damage on every hit)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (So...Killed any dragons yet?)
(3) Elorin: (yep)
(3) Elorin: (dragons are easy at this point)
(3) Elorin: (heck, I see a Pit Fiend and check it's challenge rating and it says "effortless" :P)
(3) Elorin: (this is in the epic Hordes of the Underdark campaign)
(3) Elorin: (the final boss is Mephistopheles, lord of the 8th level of Hell)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (I found NWN to be too...Maze-like, thought)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: * though
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (You go from a, to b, to c...Compared to, say, Morrowinds' map...Just didn't like it)
(3) Elorin: (too much going through dungeons and clearing out the low level stuff on the way to boss fights?)
(3) Elorin: (oh, and my helmet gives DR 10/+5 and +5 regen per round)
(3) Elorin: (and my AC is around 60)
(3) Elorin: (attack bonus +40)
(3) Elorin: (this is with a level 27 character)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yeah, pretty much. And generally very few choices on where to go in a dungeon - Or overland)
(2) GM: (So you couldn't hit yourself except on a Nat-20?)
(3) Elorin: (IIRC, yes)
(3) Elorin: (and that's if I didn't start using Improved Expertise for -10 attack +10 AC)
(3) Elorin: (Bracers of Armor +10, Ring of Protection +9, Amulet of Natural Armor +7, permanent 3.0 Haste for +4, and NWN-only special monk-only boots for +5 dodge and +3 dex help a bit)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (I've got a morrowind character that can pretty much run through any Daedric ruin and kill everything. no worries)
(3) Elorin: (oh yeah, and their version of Tumble gives +1 AC for every 5 ranks in the skill)
(2) GM: Whcih, at level 27, means 30 ranks, and thus +6 to AC.
(3) Elorin: (yep)
(2) GM: Quite the tank.
(3) Elorin: (the "effortless" rating on normal Pit Fiends and Balors is quite well deserved by now :D)
(19) Kibin (enter): 15:39
(19) Kibin: (Hello?)
(3) Elorin: (hello)
(2) Jack Simth: Greetings
(19) Kibin: (Back.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hell)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hello)
(3) Elorin: (we were just discussing how absurdly powerful my level 27 character in NWN is)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Elorin was telling us about his MunchMonk)
(2) Jack Simth: Well, that's everyone that's expected back form lunch....
(2) Jack Simth:

(3) Elorin: (5 fighter/22 monk)
(19) Kibin: (Heh.)
(3) Elorin: (the last level of fighter was needed for Epic Weapon Specialization, which can only be taken on a fighter level)
(19) Kibin: (They might have fixed it for now, so hopefully no more disconnections.)
(19) Kibin: (Yay! Now, where were we again?)
(2) Jack Simth: When we last left our heros, they were discussing an extraplanar situtation with an angel, bound in a circle, having just agreed to cast a spell for the "Old Man"......
(3) Elorin: (I had made a comment the angel hadn't responded to yet)
(3) Elorin: Adamantium? There was a powerful demon making deals with the ex owner of the Adamine a while back.
(2) Jack Simth: Woman: Possible; has that stopped? We're still getting new ones, they have distinguishable markings on them.
(3) Elorin: When we left, the old owner was dead and the miners were taking over.
(19) Kibin: I believe we shut it down.
(3) Elorin: We didn't manage to shut down the portals to Hell and back, though.
(2) Jack Simth: Jason: Although they are kept closed up in their own buildings.....
(2) Jack Simth: Woman: Then it's not likely the source. Pity. We'd give quite a bit to get this invasion tracked down to it's source. Ah well.
** (19) Kibin continues laying down, listening. **
(2) Jack Simth: "Old Man": The spell?
(2) Jack Simth: Woman: Oh, right; we did agree, didn't we?
(2) Jack Simth: The woman steps through the circle, and slaps the silver dragon on the snout.
(2) Jack Simth: Woman: You're not a nice person, you do know that, right?
(2) Jack Simth: Old Man: Hard not to, with you around to remind me.
(2) Jack Simth: Woman: Whatever. Got a way to identify your hussy?
(2) Jack Simth: Old Man: Right here.
(2) GM: He hands her the bone.
(2) GM: Woman: And the gems?
(2) GM: The old man hands her a fairly sizeable diamond.
(2) GM: The woman examines it, nods, then begins chanting and waving her arms......
(2) GM: Anyone care to make a spellcraft check, or is it obvious enough?
(3) Elorin: (True Res?)
(3) Elorin: (otherwise, he could have just asked me to do it)
(19) Kibin: (I don't bother with identifying it. Because I can't. :P)
(2) GM: (Yep....)
(2) GM: Ten minutes later, there's a third silver dragon in the room.....
(2) GM: Which taps itself a few times, and looks around.
(2) GM: Silver Dragon: All right - which of you arranged this?
** (19) Kibin points to the old man. **
** (3) Elorin points at the old man **
(2) GM: The woman points to the old man.
(2) GM: Old Man: I did, of course. Took some doing, too....
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot points at the old man. **
(2) GM: Silver Dragon: I see. Why?
(2) GM: Old Man: Well, I wanted someone to while away eternity with, and you seemed a good match......
(20) Kibin (enter): 15:54
(2) GM: Silver Dragon: Is that all? Huh. Here I thought you would be after something else; gems, maybe.
(20) Kibin: (While away eternity was last thing I saw.)
(3) Elorin: (then you didn't miss anything)
(2) GM: Old Man: What good are gems without someone to share them with?
(19) Kibin (exit): 15:55
(2) GM: The newer silver smiles: Perhaps we might come to an arrangement... in private.
(2) GM: Woman: My scrolls?
(2) GM: Old Man: Oh, right....
(2) GM: The old man reaches over to his robe (which is much to small at the moment) pulls two scrolls out of a pocket, and hands them to the woman - who vanishes with them.
(2) GM: The recent silver dragon glares at the party.
(2) GM: Jason walks out, very quickly.
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot leaves **
** (3) Elorin leaves **
** (20) Kibin leaves, and lets the two stay in private for a while. **
(2) GM: Jason: So, a town somewhere, you said?
(2) GM: Kaylin: Sounds like a plan. Always good to rest and relax a bit.
(2) GM: Kaylin walks over to the feather from earlier, and examines it.
(2) GM: Appraise Skill Check: [1d20+8] -> [2,8] = (10)
(20) Kibin: Can we do the rest and relaxation thingie soon?
(2) GM: Kaylin: Yeah, sure; worthless feather anyway. No idea why that bird left it here.
(20) Kibin: How about we bring it with us just in case...
(3) Elorin: It seemed pretty sure of itself when it said they were valuable earlier
(2) GM: Kaylin: Ah, you want to get it appraised porfessionally, is that it?
(3) Elorin: Implying that we might have come just to kill it for its feathers
(3) Elorin: yes
(3) Elorin: Kibin, I think we'll need your portable hole to store it in.
(2) GM: Kaylin: Fine, then, You move it.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Can I do an Int check on it?)
(2) GM: Yeah, sure - Appraise is useable untrained.
(3) Elorin: (that's what Kaylin's doing)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+8] -> [1,8] = (9)
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot is also convinced it's worthless. **
(20) Kibin: (I'll do it just for laughs.]
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Yep, worthless. Utterly.
(3) Elorin: We'll see what the professionals say
(20) Kibin: [1d20+2] -> [17,2] = (19)
(3) Elorin: Appraise Skill Check: [1d20+0] -> [5,0] = (5)
** (3) Elorin has no clue what it's worth **
whispering to GM, [2d6+3] -> [1,6,3] = (10)
whispering to Kibin, It's 300 pounds of solid gold. You have no idea why these dunces keep thinking it's worthless.
** (20) Kibin examines the feather. Hmmmm. "You know that this feather seems to be made out of solid gold?" **
(3) Elorin: (hmm, imagine a bow so big its arrows need feathers like this for fletching)
(3) Elorin: That settles it. Bring out the portable hole.
(2) GM: Kaylin: That's rediculous. Such a large bird could neve fly with real gold feathers.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Uh. Wouldn't we kind notice that?)
(20) Kibin: Yet you can fly with magic.
(2) GM: (DC's too high; nobody made the DC 12, which would normally be a fairly obvious DC)
(2) GM: (Except Kibin)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (I guess the rest of us are just asleep)
(20) Kibin: (Because I like gold. :P)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Dragon instincts... :D )
(2) GM: So, who's trying to move it into the portable hole?
** (3) Elorin tries shoving it along the ground **
** (20) Kibin takes out his portable hole. And thinks of how to move it into the portable hole. **
(3) Elorin: ([175*5] -> 875 max drag)
(2) GM: Elorin, with much grunting, manages to drag the thing into the portable hole.
(2) GM: Where it crashes down heavily.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (...And himself with it?)
(3) Elorin: (drag, shove, same thing...)
(3) Elorin: (same max weight, anyway)
** (20) Kibin folds up the portable hole, then. "Extradimensional space is convienent. **
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Funny...Dragging is easier)
(2) GM: Kaylin: Any particular preference for the town?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (At least, with handles. Without, shoving is probably easier)
(2) GM: Jason: Well, there's a flower shop I need to see......
(20) Kibin: Fine with me.
(3) Elorin: No real preference, no
(2) GM: Kaylin nods, gets the description from Jason, gathers everyone around, and teleports (greater variety)
(2) GM: You find yourselves in a busling town, with lots of merchants busy at their haggling.
(3) Elorin: (oh yeah, we need to do some identifying)
(3) Elorin: (I don't have fully ID'd nodes for the white dragon and ice devil guards loot)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (What treasure does Eldon have?)
(20) Kibin: It seems bigger than I remember.
(2) GM: Kaylin: Any identifying on my part will need to wait until tomorrow anyway......
(20) Kibin: Fine with me.
(3) Elorin: (uh, doesn't she almost always prepare at least one Analyze Dweomer?)
(3) Elorin: (and she hasn't cast it today)
(20) Kibin: (Who cares, it means I get to sleep. :P)
(2) GM: (Ah, right..... been two days since the fetching of the ghost....)
(2) GM: Even stops and gets things appraised, by the simple expedient of asking the various merchants what they'd pay for each item in the hearing of their competitors....
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Thanks)
(3) Elorin: (and the final 3 swords from the bandits are also +1, I assume?)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Immovable rod could be usefull...Get a few more and ladder)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Doorstop, momentum trap...)
(2) GM: Yep.
(20) Kibin: (Can be used to trip someone. :D)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Get two of them and swing from building to building)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Momentum trap. :) )
(20) Kibin: (No. Get two, and swing from air to air. :D)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yeah.)
(2) GM: It's spelled out in the description of the immoveable rods that it only takes two to act as a ladder.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Or simply balance on them. :D )
** (20) Kibin takes a nap in the wagon while they're appraising everything. **
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Well, as long as you can hang from your hands)
(2) GM: Not checking the feather or shell fragments, then?
(20) Kibin: (Fine. :P)
** (20) Kibin remembers about the feather and shell fragments, and then goes to get those appraised too. **
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot is with the appraising team **
** (3) Elorin wants to see the appraisal of the feather **
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Brachiation and immovable rods)
(21) Kibin (enter): 16:19
(21) Kibin: (Eldon with appraising team is last thing I saw.)
** (3) Elorin wants to see the appraisal of the feather **
(2) GM: Shell fragments: 250 gp worth of silver (50 lbs at 50 sp/lbs, 5 gp/lbs); Feather: 300 lbs of solid gold (1500 gp value, + 500 artistic value from the shape = 2000 gp)
(20) Kibin (exit): 16:20
(2) GM: Jason: So, sell them?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Detect magic on them first.
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Detect Magic ( level 0, "Detects spells and magic items within 60 ft." )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 0 Spell ( level 0, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(21) Kibin: (You know... If 1500 gold pieces weights 300 pounds, then I must have a lot of gold in my portable hole.)
whispering to Elorin, the shell fragments show something - spellcraft check? but no magic on the feather.
(3) Elorin: (1500 should be only 30 pounds)
(2) GM: Ah, sorry; did my math wrong [300*50+500] -> 15500
(3) Elorin: ([30*50] -> 1500)
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [17,19] = (36)
whispering to Elorin, Strong transmutation
(21) Kibin: (That's better.)
(3) Elorin: Ah, right, the shell is the product of that spell, after all.
(3) Elorin: Probably not a good idea to sell it, as it'll probably disappear if it ever gets dispelled.
(21) Kibin: Hmmmm?
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot has an inquisitive air. **
(2) GM: Jason: If Kibin's form ever reverts, do you think he'll find he's missing the parts that became the shell?
(3) Elorin: Kaylin?
(3) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [6,19] = (25)
** (21) Kibin pokes his finger, to draw a little bit of blood from it, to see what color it is. **
(2) GM: Kaylin: It's a permanent spell, no worries. Unless that ghost comes back, which isn't likely.
whispering to Kibin, Silver, and take one point of damage.
(21) Kibin: Apparently, my blood is still silver, so it shouldn't be too much trouble.
(21) Kibin: (*pokes*)
(3) Elorin: So, keeping the immovable rod.
(2) GM: Jason: Well, good to know. I have a flower shop to see; if you'll excuse me.....
(3) Elorin: Anything else anyone wants to keep?
(2) GM: Jason walks off into the crowd......
(21) Kibin: Aside from the gold?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Maybe your blood would change back if you were?
(21) Kibin: The old man's blood is still red.
(3) Elorin: Aside from the cash, of course
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Warn the seller ahead of time that it's the product of a spell, but probably permanent?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: * Buyer
(3) Elorin: Reasonable.
(21) Kibin: You know, we could test the spell with an antimagic field.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: From what I know of such things, that should indeed work.
(3) Elorin: Or we could try finding someone who deserves to be ripped off, but that would be work...
(21) Kibin: Or we could take the safe route...
(21) Kibin: I vote for safe route so people don't get angry at us.
(3) Elorin: Keep it for tomorrow and have Kaylin prepare Antimagic Field to test it
(21) Kibin: Sounds good.
(3) Elorin: (let's see, totals listed are for full value and include cash, right?)
(2) GM: Yes.
(21) Kibin: (How much for each of us? :)
(21) Kibin: So how much does each of us get?
(2) GM: [2250*3+3*8750+4*4000+7*4620+3*11750] -> 116590
(2) GM: [116590/2] -> 58295
(3) Elorin: [43487.3-7500-6123+89248.1-25272-23100+2250+2250+2250+8750*4+4000*4+1800+4620*7+11750*4] -> 209630.4
(3) Elorin: [209630.4/2] -> 104815.2 from sales
(21) Kibin: (Don't forget that Eldon would only have to give the party half price for the immovable rod.)
(3) Elorin: [104815.2+1584+25272+23100+43487.3] -> 198258.5 including cash
(3) Elorin: (this does not include the rod)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (The rod isn't exactly a personal item; anybody could use it)
(21) Kibin: (Like I'd need it. :P)
(3) Elorin: [198258.5/6] -> 33043.0833333 per person
(21) Kibin: (That's in gold?
(3) Elorin: (yes)
** (21) Kibin grabs his share of the gold and puts it in the portable hole. **
(3) Elorin: (oh, oops, made a mistake)
(3) Elorin: [104815.2+1584+25272+23100+6123] -> 160894.2 including cash
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (What, you wouldn't want to set a trap?)
(3) Elorin: [160894.2/6] -> 26815.7 per person
(21) Kibin: (A trap on the portable hole?)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (No, a trap for someone chasing you down a corridor)
(3) Elorin: (I now have [26815.7+41916.69] -> 68732.39 gp)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (How much does an immovable rod cost? Since no-one else seems to want it...)
(3) Elorin: (7500)
(21) Kibin: (Oh, that.)
(21) Kibin: (EH, just keep it as party item.)
(2) GM: (SRD list price of 5,000 gp on the immoveable rod)
(3) Elorin: (hmm, now what to spend all that money on...)
(3) Elorin: (the node you sent says 7500)
(2) GM: Ah, right; that program uses 3.0 generation tables; fair enough.
(3) Elorin: (not that it matters if we're not selling it)
(3) Elorin: (unless you want to give us 2500 more to make up for it)
** (21) Kibin has another small mountain of gold in his portable hole now. **
(3) Elorin: (I think you should make a note to be sure to mention the per person money gain in the after-session post)
** (21) Kibin also has assorted platnium coins in there. **
(3) Elorin: (so, suggestions on what to spend near 70k on?)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (BRB)
(21) Kibin: (You could save it.)
(2) GM: Well, you could get Goggles of Night for 12,000 gp and gain Darkvision.
** (21) Kibin has his darkvision back! Yay! **
** (21) Kibin saves his money for another day, and goes back to the wagon. **
(3) Elorin: (huh, there's a Gem of Seeing based on True Sight, but I don't see anything for see invis)
** (21) Kibin places on his magic items again. **
(2) GM: So, who's doing what, now?
(21) Kibin: (Could always save it for when you really need the cash.)
** (21) Kibin is at the wagon, considering whenever or not to make a bed out of gold pieces. **
(2) GM: (yeah, diamonds are pricy.....)
(21) Kibin: (Actually, diamonds are cheap.)
(2) GM: Sold the feather?
(21) Kibin: (It's just that large diamonds are rare.)
(3) Elorin: (oh, right, forgot about that)
(3) Elorin: ([15500/6] -> 2583 more per person, assuming full value)
(21) Kibin: (It wouldn't be cost effective to grind a large diamond into dust.)
(2) GM: (Yeah, full value for pure gold at the money changers)
(21) Kibin: (Since the dust would be worth a lot less than the whole diamond.)
(3) Elorin: [68732.39+2583] -> 71315.39
(21) Kibin: (*pokes people again*)
(2) GM: So, anything else before dropping the comatose Aaron off at a hospital somewhere and sleeping up for the night?
(3) Elorin: (hmm, could I get a special version of an Efficient Quiver (Quiver of Ehlonna in DMG) that can generate ordinary arrows without limit when I need them?)
(21) Kibin: (And making a small bed of 5,000 gold pieces? Probally not.)
(3) Elorin: (just to eliminate that bookkeeping)
(3) Elorin: (I don't care if they last only long enough to shoot)
** (21) Kibin sleeps in his pile of 5,000 gold pieces. **
(21) Kibin (whispering): Hello?
(2) GM: What's the caster level on your quiver?
(3) Elorin: (a normal Efficient Quiver is CL 9)
(3) Elorin: (cost 1800)
(3) Elorin: (but it just stores stuff)
(21) Kibin: (I think there's a spell for that.)
(21) Kibin: (Or not.)
(21) Kibin: (STOP DYING ON ME! :P)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Back - Groceries)
(2) GM: Well, there's guidelines for a use-activated spell; infinite ammo doesn't seem unbalanced at a glace, but items need to keep a single caster level; so 9th (caster level) 1 (spell level - Psionic, Call Weaponry)* 2000 (continuous) * 2 (duration 1 min/level)/2 (arrows only, but as needed))[9*1*2000] -> 18000
(2) GM: Times 1.5 for being the second ability added to a wondrous item gets [18000*1.5] -> 27000.0
(2) GM: Hmm... seems a little on the pricy side.Round it to 15,000 gp added (10,000 gp for an infinite quiver) and call it good?
(3) Elorin: (no, it's the cheaper power that gets multiplied, [18000+1800*1.5] -> 20700.0
(3) Elorin: (or [10000+1800*1.5] -> 12700.0 with the cheaper cost)
(21) Kibin: (I think that 15,000 is good.)
(21) Kibin: (Or 12,700.(
(2) GM: SRD, Magic Items, Creating Magic Items, Adding New Abilities "If the item is one that occupies a specific place on a character’s body the cost of adding any additional ability to that item increases by 50%. For example, if a character adds the power to confer invisibility to her ring of protection +2, the cost of adding this ability is the same as for creating a ring of invisibility multiplied by 1.5."
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (You can do that?)
(21) Kibin: (It's called having too much money for your own good. :P)
(2) GM: Set items, built at once, are built in the most effecient order - pricyest stuff first.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (What would it cost to add an int bonus to an amulet of armor?)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (And would it stack with a headband of int?)
** (21) Kibin snores, getting a good rest after today. **
(2) GM: Don't you already have a Headband of Intellect? Wouldn't stack; enhancemnt bonuses are the safest bonuses.
(2) GM: Anything that would stack would get very pricy very fast.
(21) Kibin: (I say save money till you need something.)
(2) GM: And would be off-slot anywhere but the headband/helmet type, for an additional price hike.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah well)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hmm...Add a wis bonus to the amulet?)
(21) Kibin: (After all, what's wrong with saving a little money? :)
(3) Elorin: (hmm, can't find anything to refute that order thing, but this is an entirely new item I'm getting, and it would be both cheaper and easier on the crafter to make it from scratch than to upgrade an existing quiver)
(3) Elorin: (12700 for new vs 15000 for upgrade)
(2) GM: (Yep; silly, isn't it?)
(21) Kibin: (Are you talking about the handy haversack?)
(3) Elorin: (the quiver)
(21) Kibin: (Ah, okay.)
(21) Kibin: (Let's say you get a new one, with the infinite arrow thingies. :P)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Save, for now, I guess)
(21) Kibin: (Saving is good. If dragons do it, why not you? :)
(3) Elorin: (I'm getting a new one, so why wouldn't the crafter go with the more efficient method?)
(2) GM: You can get a new one crafted with both for 12,700; sure.
(3) Elorin: (and I have quite a bit of experience with this myself IC, so I think I'd know to ask for it if they wanted to just jack up the price by doing it innefficiently)
(3) Elorin: (thank you)
(3) Elorin: [7131-1270] -> 5861
(3) Elorin: (hmm, now darkvision or see invis?)
(2) GM: (and as a side-effect, it also has crossbow quarrels, sling stones, or whatever ammunition type you happen to need at the moment - but not thrown weapons)
(21) Kibin: (Go with darkvision. :P)
(21) Kibin: (Gem would get a little bit hard to use, since you can't just have it on continuously. It would be useless for combat, me thinks.)
(2) GM: (hand full for an archer? Bad idea, yes.....)
(24) Kibin (enter): 17:09
(2) GM: (on the plus side, it's not slotted....)
(24) Kibin: (Gem would get a little bit hard to use, since you can't just have it on continuously. It would be useless for combat, me thinks.)
(2) GM: (hand full for an archer? Bad idea, yes.....)
(2) GM: (on the plus side, it's not slotted....)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Goggles of Night/True Sight?)
(3) Elorin: (huh, just searched the entire list for See Invis, and there's only a single item in it that grants See Invisible to the user, and it's 1/day at 5th caster level)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Given the number of invisible and incorporeal things we run accross, that looks like a good idea)
(21) Kibin (exit): 17:11
(3) Elorin: (and it takes up the amulet slot)
(3) Elorin: (why oh why is there a Gem of Seeing but not Goggles of See Invisibility?)
(24) Kibin: (Because goggles would be too powerful.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Goggles of true sight would also confer darkvision...)
** (24) Kibin snores some more, happily sleeping on his pile of gold. **
(24) Kibin: (As well as seeing through any illusions. Would be a nightmare of unbalancing for GMs.)
(3) Elorin: (True Sight for 30 min/day is NOT worth 75000 gp imo)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Long enough for combat.
(24) Kibin: (THEN GET THE FREAKING GOGGLES! :P)
(24) Kibin: (If you want the darkvision...)
(2) GM: Split up however you like, one round at a time?
(24) Kibin: (Heh. That would allow you to use it 300 times a day.)
(24) Kibin: (Or 300 rounds.)
(3) Elorin: (ah, there we go, Robe of Eyes has continuous see invis)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Want goggles of True Sight for True Sight)
(3) Elorin: (among several other things)
(24) Kibin: (Hehe.)
(3) Elorin: (and, I think, being the wrong slot)
(24) Kibin: (It also makes it so that you're always subjected to gaze attacks. :D)
(24) Kibin: (But, it's 120,000! :P)
(2) GM: Let's see... eye slot true seeing, by guidelines, would be..... [250*50+5*9*2000] -> 102500 base,
(3) Elorin: (I don't want true seeing, I want see invis)
(3) Elorin: (much cheaper)
(24) Kibin: (Now can you hurry up and shop? We're wasting time.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (A little out of my price range - How much for see invis added to darkvision?)
(3) Elorin: (60 ft darkvision is 12000)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Or the other way around, whatever is cheaper)
(24) Kibin: (Meh.)
(2) GM: Eldon, however.....[250*50] -> 12500 materials, [5*9*2000*2] -> 180000 spell
(2) GM: Basically, continuous true Seeing is really really pricy.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (How about see invis and darkvision?)
(2) GM: See invisibility, though, is only a second level spell, at caster level three, by guidelines, would be [3*2*2000*2] -> 24000
(3) Elorin: (see invis by the formula would be [2*3*2000] -> 12000)
(3) Elorin: (why *2?)
(2) GM: One Minute/Level, continuous. It's a footnote.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Is that with darkvision?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: * )
(3) Elorin: (it's 10 min/level, so *1.5)
(2) GM: Ah, so it is; [2*3*2000*1.5] -> 18000.0 base, times 1.5 again for adding....
(3) Elorin: ([12000*1.5] -> 18000.0 for see invis + [12000*1.5] -> 18000.0 for additional 60 ft darkvision would be 36000)
(24) Kibin: (*snores from all of the metagaming chat*)
(2) GM: [2*3*2000*1.5] -> 18000.0 to add to current goggles
(2) GM: [2*3*2000*1.5*1.5] -> 27000.0 to add to current goggles
(3) Elorin: (or [12000+18000*1.5] -> 39000.0 if you upgrade existing goggles of darkvision)
(2) GM: missed a multiplier the first time.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ok, thanks. Not quite yet, then - Unless anybody knows how much gp Eldon had before?)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (28,000gp)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Or wait...27,000gp - Could afford to upgrade. :) )
(3) Elorin: (you already have the darkvision goggles?)
(24) Kibin: (I'll stick with not caring about invisbility because of how rare it is.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yep)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Goggles of Night)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (See invis also reveals Ethereal. :D )
(3) Elorin: (so, can I buy new for the combo goggles?)
(3) Elorin: (36k)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ok, I buy See Invis onto my Goggles of Night)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Goggles of NightVision!)
(24) Kibin: (True, but most ethereal beasties you don't want to see.)
(2) GM: That's by guidelines; but there's some mild things to be aware of - Kibin now has Blindsense, and so can see most invisible things; they are only guidelines (True Strike is the classic example of why), and there may just be a reason something so inexpensive and so useful isn't on the list.....
(2) GM: Hmmm.... how many personal spells have their abilities done in items?
(3) Elorin: (and yet a great many of the higher CR monsters have permanent see invis or even permanent true sight)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ethereal are 'Translucent Shapes', so ugly attacks probably wouldn't work as well)
(24) Kibin: (And yet those monsters are not player characters.)
(2) GM: (Yes, but monsters tend not nullify entire ways of DM's doing things.....)
(24) Kibin: (In terms of interesting encounters, GMs use stuff such as invisibility to add a little spice.)
(3) Elorin: (Longstrider for boots of Springing and Striding is personal)
(24) Kibin: (We've wasted over half an hour...)
(3) Elorin: (Righteous Might for Monk's Belt and Bead of Karma, though that's a looser translation of the spell)
(2) GM: Good point; custom items = Not now, but on the boards.
(2) GM: Sleeping for the night?
(3) Elorin: (Brooch of Shielding)
(24) Kibin: (Yup. As I've said, me sleeping on nice comfy bed of gold pieces.)
(3) Elorin: (ok, I'll put off my shopping)
(2) GM: The next day.....
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (I finished mine)
(3) Elorin: (except your upgrade to the goggles is a custom item we'll have to discuss)
** (24) Kibin snores happily. **
(2) GM: Jason shows up again: How did you all sleep?
(3) Elorin: Just fine, thank you.
(3) Elorin: It's nice not having to worry about being ambushed in your sleep.
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot attempts to explain sleep. **
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+8] -> [17,8] = (25)
(2) GM: Jason: Ah, good. Ready to go elsewhere?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (High Int, low Wis)
** (24) Kibin gets up, and places his bed in portable hole for later. **
(24) Kibin: We were going to do the antimagic field first?
(2) GM: Jason: I did sleep, it's just been about a thousand years, or so. Very nice memory......
(2) GM: Kaylin: Right; the field.....
(2) GM: Kaylin casts.....
(24) Kibin: To see how permanent this spell is...
(2) GM: In the middle of everyone....
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Oops)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Can't she make an Int check to not do that?)
(3) Elorin: (I'm pretty sure it only suppresses things)
(2) GM: Kibin - your scales start vibrating and humming oddly, but stay where they are.
(24) Kibin: (It supresses magic spells.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (And magic items)
(2) GM: (Supress, yes - and if she has to be minus 6 Int, she's going to make others uncomfortable in the meanwhile.)
(24) Kibin: (By the way, how much XP so far?)
(3) Elorin: (and the silver shell?)
(24) Kibin: (For this session.)
(2) GM: Also hums oddly.
(2) GM: (not done with the session quite yet.....)
(24) Kibin: Hmmmm.
(24) Kibin: Wonder what a disjunction spell would do.
(3) Elorin: Make it hum oddly, most likely.
(2) GM: Kaylin: Let's not check. Those tend to be rather pricy.
** (24) Kibin steps out of the antimagic field. **
(3) Elorin: If Antimagic Field doesn't suppress it, I doubt ordinary mortal magic is capable of getting rid of it.
(2) GM: Kibin continues humming oddly, although reduced, as the shell fragments are still in the field.....
(3) Elorin: At least, not through any ordinary dispelling techniques
(24) Kibin: So unless I die again, I'm good.
(2) GM: You notice you can't see Jason since the field went up...
(24) Kibin: Uh.
(3) Elorin: (by the RAW, nothing short of major artifacts or deity-level magic does anything in an Antimagic Field)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Kaylin, maybe you should dispell the field.
(24) Kibin: (Or force effects.)
(3) Elorin: (oh, wait, it lists a few specific spells)
(24) Kibin: (Kaylin could still cast a wall of force. :D)
(24) Kibin: Yeah, the humming is getting annoying. And Jason is gone.
(3) Elorin: (but even Disjunction only has a chance of working, and the chance is pretty low)
(2) GM: She couldn't cast a wall of force, but one in effect is fine; also, check out golems and undead - they continue to operate
(2) GM: (but again, couldn't be created inside a AMF)
(2) GM: Jason steps outside the AMF, and becomes visible again.
(24) Kibin: Yoohoo. Kaylin?
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot pokes Kaylin **
(2) GM: Jason: Oh, I'm as fine as ever on the Ethereal.
(2) GM: Kaylin dismisses the AMF.
(2) GM: Jason: You see, I'm only incorporeal where you are; where I am, no problems.
(24) Kibin: I hope that I don't have to go through that again, what that ghost did...
(2) GM: Jason: For that matter, I can even see and hear as always when I'm just on the ethereal. Could be an interesting method of sneaking up on someone.....
(3) Elorin: (brb)
(24) Kibin: So what now?
(2) GM: Jason: So, are we ready to leave town?
(24) Kibin: I'm back to my semi-normal self, we sold all of our stuff.
(24) Kibin: Noone is in danger of becoming a pillow.
(2) GM: Kaylin: We might want to go back and check on Atlantis; tell them how to reverse the effects.... or maybe just do a Sending....
(24) Kibin: Sending is good.
(2) GM: Jason: Or we could look in on that gem of yours.
(24) Kibin: Looking into the gem is good also.
(2) GM: Kaylin: Ah, yes; I do know how to find the region, we could check in.
(2) GM: Jason: Or should we take Eldon home? His quest is finished, after all.
(24) Kibin: (See what I mean by everything going slowly?)
(2) GM: (So, where do you want to go today?)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Eldon is sufficiently interested to stay. Besides, you're pretty good in a fight.
(24) Kibin: (GEM THINGIE! :P)
(24) Kibin: Can we look into the gem thingie now?
(2) GM: Jason: I'm game.
(2) GM: Dinner coming up in a few minutes.
(24) Kibin: (NOOOOOOOOO!)
(3) Elorin: Eldon's mission with us is finished, yes, but I imagine his King would appreciate being informed of that fact.
(3) Elorin: And I'd hate to leave all of Sawunn's victims in Atlantis in whatever form he changed them to.
(3) Elorin: Investigating that gem is likely to take considerably longer than either of those tasks
(24) Kibin: Kaylin could just send a message with magic or something.
(2) GM: Jason: Speaking of which - Kaylin, do you have a scroll of Sending?
(2) GM: Kaylin: Unfortunately, it's not one of the ones I've learned.
(2) GM: Jason: I see. Well, I'll go fetch one for you; be right back.
** (24) Kibin lays on the ground as everyone is talking. **
(2) GM: Dinner - got to go. Back in, oh, about an hour.
(2) GM:

(24) Kibin: (Meh.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Sausage, bread, black pepper, vinigar and cheese. And mustard)
(24) Kibin: (That's nice.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (That's weird, actually)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Strange taste)
(3) Elorin: (hehe, just made a really good move in a forum-based Munchkin game)
(3) Elorin: (this one might win it for me)
(3) Elorin: http://forums.keenspot.com/viewtopic.php?t=82745&postdays=0&postorder=desc
(24) Kibin: (Can't click or select it, too lazy to type it.)
(3) Elorin: (what's the tag for a hyperlink?)
(24) Kibin: (
(24) Kibin: (>
(24) Kibin: (Hmmmph. It's a something.
(3) Elorin: (use parens instead of angle brackets)
(3) Elorin: (and make sure you terminate whatever you just entered)
(24) Kibin: ((a href="")text(/a))
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: Copy from the text list
(3) Elorin:
Munchkin thread
(24) Kibin: (Waiting! Yay.)
(3) Elorin: (any comments on the Munchkin game?)
(3) Elorin: (btw, if I don't get a monster from kicking down the door, I have a level 3 one to Look For Trouble with)
(24) Kibin: (Whatever.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (I don't play munchkin)
(3) Elorin: (Hmph)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Just didn't look interesting enough. But good for you. Go win the game or die horribly trying. :) )
(3) Elorin: (You play D&D and you're not familiar with the card game largely inspired by it. What kind of D&D player are you? :P)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (A new one)
(24) Kibin: (Hehe. :P)
(3) Elorin: (I love the "logic" behind the Boil an Anthill: Go Up A Level card :P)
(24) Kibin: (HEY SWEET! PDF form!
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hmm?)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (pdf form for what?)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Oh - Lot's of level 0 monters?)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: * monsters?
(24) Kibin: (To write down your character stats.,)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah)
(24) Kibin: (*wonders what to put down for age.)
(3) Elorin: (every monster gives a minimum of 1 xp, right? So that's 1 xp per ant. An anthill has a whole lot of ants, so that adds up to a lot of xp)
(3) Elorin: (never mind that this doesn't work in D&D 3.x)
(24) Kibin: (hehe.)
(24) Kibin: (Hmmm, let's try to get it so I can save changes.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Why not? You defeated them, and technically it was an insect swarm...)
(3) Elorin: (but if you count it as a swarm, that's just one monster)
(24) Kibin: (Hehe.)
(3) Elorin: (not worth nearly as much xp)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (BBS)
(24) Kibin: (Sweet. A character status log.)
(24) Kibin: (Wait, nevermind.
(24) Kibin: (waits some more)
(2) GM: Greetings.
(3) Elorin: (do you play Munchkin?)
(2) GM: Not that I'm aware of.
(24) Kibin: (Yay!)
(3) Elorin: (sigh, not one of you knows enough to appreciate what I just did in that thread I linked to above)
(3) Elorin: (I was expecting differently from a bunch of D&D players)
(24) Kibin: (Okay. This is my first D&D game. Don't expect much. D&D campaign, anyway...)
(24) Kibin: (We should all use standard character sheets for ease of use.)
(24) Kibin: (Then post them on the fourms every session.)
(2) GM: So... waiting for Eldon to return, then.....
(24) Kibin: (Yup.)
(24) Kibin: (You're still an evil GM. :P)
(2) GM: (Comes with the territory)
(24) Kibin: (Maybe.)
(24) Kibin: (At least you were nice enough to make the ghost make me a silver dragon, and not anything else.)
(24) Kibin: (Mostly.)
(24) Kibin: (Sweet, excel sheet.)
(2) GM: (rolled on a d100; you had a 50/50 chance.)
(24) Kibin: (Huh.)
(24) Kibin: (So I got lucky?)
(2) GM: (in one sense, yes)
(3) Elorin: (what was the other option?)
(24) Kibin: (Know of a way to turn off editing in excel, so I don't have to worry about accidentally messing up something?)
(2) GM: (Oh, something kinda mean - maybe a troglodite for the social issues.....)
(24) Kibin: (Haha.)
(2) GM: (Yes, there is - there's a "lock spreadsheet" option somewhere.....)
(2) GM: (Ah, there it is - Tools -> Protection -> Pick one)
(24) Kibin: (Help me find it?)
(24) Kibin: (Which one?)
(24) Kibin: (Still evil to give me negative age. :P)
(2) GM: I don't know - which are you trying to avoid messing up: The one sheet you're currently looking at, the entire set, and do you want to give it to someone else and keep them from changing it?
(24) Kibin: (I don't want to mess up the structure.
(2) GM: See the little tabs at the bottom that usually say "Sheet1", "Sheet2", and "Sheet3" by default?
(24) Kibin: (Yeah.)
(2) GM: Do you use them ever?
(24) Kibin: (Yeah.)
(24) Kibin: (There's three sheets.)
(24) Kibin: (I don't want to accidentally alter the size of a cell.
(2) GM: Those are different sheets; if the stuff you want protected is all on one, just use "protect sheet"; if you want to stop editing on all of them, use "Protect Workbook"
(24) Kibin: (Structure and windows?)
(2) GM: If cell-size is all you're after, just run with the default, add an easily-remembered password, and hit "OK"
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Back)
(2) GM: Ah, skip that - you just want protect Worksheet, with all the options.
(24) Kibin: (Hmmm.)
(2) GM: Did Elorin wander off?
(24) Kibin: (Not me.)
(3) Elorin: (still here)
(2) GM: Okay then.

(24) Kibin: (How do you unlock a cell?
(2) GM: Protection -> Unprotect
(24) Kibin: (No, I mean a single cell. A shortcut or something.
(2) GM: Jason leaves the room, and a few minutes later, comes back with a scroll for Kaylin.
(24) Kibin: (So I can lock everything except stuff I enter data in.)
(2) GM: That... I don't think it lets you do.
(3) Elorin: (Tools->Protection->Allow Users to Edit Ranges...)
(3) Elorin: (I think that should do it)
(24) Kibin: (I'll fiddle with it a bit.)
(24) Kibin: (Can you set nothing as a pass?)
(2) GM: Anyway.....
(2) GM: Kaylin takes the scroll, and packs it away for later learning.
(24) Kibin: Gem thingie now?
(2) GM: Kaylin: Sounds good.
(2) GM: Jason hops into his familiar, and sits on Kaylin's shoulder.
(2) GM: Kaylin walks out to the wagon and carriage, then, once everyone (including carriage and wagon) gather round, she greater teleports....
(2) GM: And you find yourselves in some mountainous terrain; but at a low enough altitude that there isn't any snow.
(24) Kibin: Interesting.
(2) GM: There's a nearby town, and a road leading to it, as well as one leading further up into the mountains, towards a glacier that can be seen in the distance.
(3) Elorin: (is this where we're dumping Aaron?)
(2) GM: Nah, we dumped him off at the previous town, in the hands of some capable healers who wanted to know what was wrong....
(3) Elorin: (I'm confused. Why are we here, specifically?)
(24) Kibin: (Gem thingie. Apparently this is where the lineage of dragon that's in my gem comes from.)
(3) Elorin: (ah)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Who is Aaron?)
(24) Kibin: (Hehe. ZA, which didn't like the game.)
(2) GM: Kaylin: Well, I know the approximate location there *should* be a family in those mountains - but I don't know exactly where, and even if I did, most dragons tend to object to people appearing in the middle of their lairs.
(3) Elorin: (ZeroAdunn's character, introduced in a session you weren't here for. Pretty sure he's not coming back)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah, thanks.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (What's not to like?)
(3) Elorin: (He attacked that eagle while we were still talking with it and no one backed him up)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah. A little too used to CRPG's, I think)
(2) GM: (This campagin, Hack'N'Slash, not so much; seemed that's something more like what he was looking for, so.....)
(3) Elorin: (or was that about the appearing in the middle of lairs thing?)
(24) Kibin: (Hey, sweet it worked.)
(2) GM: Kaylin: So, shall we go to town and ask about?
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: "Sure."
(24) Kibin: Sure.
(3) Elorin: Sure
(24) Kibin: (What do I put for age? 1 day? :P)
(2) GM: Jason: Well, lets be off....
(2) GM: ("Wyrmling")
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Chronological or biological?)
(24) Kibin: (Now height, weight, eyes, and hair...)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hair: None)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eyes: Two)
(2) GM: (Small; use the halfling tables for random generation, if you like; or pick something, hardly matters.)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Need Chiropractor...)
(24) Kibin: (I mean eye color. :P)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Now there's a question: What level would you have to be to survive falling from orbit?)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Silver?)
(2) GM: (Works)
(3) Elorin: (falling damage caps at 20d6)
(3) Elorin: (from the height, at least. weight-based damage from something falling on you has no limit)
(24) Kibin: (Yeah, we could survive it on average.)
(2) GM: Although that's mainly due to air resistence - which, for a big protion of the fall isn't there....
(2) GM: Anyway....
(3) Elorin: (but it slows you down once you get there. terminal velocity would still be the same)
(2) GM: At town, the gates are open (it is morning, after all), and some guards give you a quick once-over.
(24) Kibin: (Hmmmm.)
(3) Elorin: (of course, there is the heat damage from the friction if you fall from far enough above the atmosphere, but that needs a house rule)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Falling from orbit. Air friction!)
** (24) Kibin wonders what cities don't have guards. **
(2) GM: They give Kibin a twice-over, then shrug.
(2) GM: (cities in non- D&D worlds, or cities where everyone fills some of the responsibilities of guards.....)
(2) GM: They don't stop anyone from going through the gate, however.
(2) GM: They only seem slightly surprised at the horseless carriage and wagon.
(24) Kibin: Well, now that we're in... What now?
(2) GM: Jason: Oh, I imagine we ask around..
(2) GM: A large shadow passes over the party.
** (24) Kibin looks up to see what the shadow is. **
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot points up. "How about we ask up?" **
(2) GM: You see a large silver dragon, heading towards a tower in the distance with a very, very large balcony, open to the sky.
** (3) Elorin looks **
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot looks up. **
(2) GM: The dragon moves quickly, and is soon at it's destination, where it walks inside.
(2) GM: Jason: Well, we have somewhere to start asking.....
(24) Kibin: Wonder what that balcony is for.
(2) GM: Jason: Landing on, apparenetly.
(24) Kibin: Tower, sorry.
(3) Elorin: Probably the front entrance
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: "Well, let's off."
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot heads for the tower. **
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (He's not being impulsive enough)
** (3) Elorin leaves town, heading for the tower **
(2) GM: The tower has gates, roughly thirty feet tall, iron, and closed. There is, however, a small window, with a man sitting inside. It's sized as an arrow slit.
(2) GM: Tower's in town. Center of town, even; looks much like the city grew up around the town.
** (24) Kibin takes to the air, and flies over to the tower, looking back every so often and waiting for the slow people who can't fly to catch up. **
(3) Elorin: (oh)
(3) Elorin: (big town, then)
(2) GM: Around the tower, not around the town. Grr....
(2) GM: Not far off in the distance; only a mile or so.
(2) GM: The man in the window addresses you as you approach.
** (24) Kibin does a few circles around the party, happy that he has wings again. **
(2) GM: Man: You don't appear to be traders.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: "Hey, Kibin. Why don't you come down here and explain what you want to the gatekeeper?"
(2) GM: Man: Most traders come here with a great many carts, for trade with the clan.....
** (24) Kibin flies down, and lands on the ground. And considers how to word this. "Uh, hi. There's this gem I found, that has a few curious magical features, and which has something to do with a silver dragon lineage that seems to have originated around here. And I was hoping to ask around, to figure out more about the gem." **
(24) Kibin: (Have to go in 20 minutes, btw. Sleep...)
(2) GM: Man: Ah, gems; dragons are always interested in gems. Yes, come in, come in....
(2) GM: The man turns to the side, pulls on something for a time, and a smaller door inside the larger one opens.
** (24) Kibin walks in, looking around inside. **
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot walks in, looking around inside. **
(2) GM: It's mostly a big place, with a few carts loaded down with different things standing idle, with horses, oxen, and the like; at each cart, one man stands waiting, presumeably for someone to return. There is a stairwell on the far side of the room, leading up, and most the tower is open space. There's plenty of room for even a large dragon to manuever....
(24) Kibin: Roomy.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Big tower)
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Magic?)
(2) GM: (Big tower, yes; Magic - who knows?)
(24) Kibin: Now, who to ask...
(24) Kibin: (Help me out here? :P)
(2) GM: Jason: Eeny, meenie, miny.....
(2) GM: Jason picks someone at random, and walks up.
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot looks up **
** (24) Kibin follows. **
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot looks down and follows. **
(2) GM: Seems most the tower is empty space - it goes up about fifty feet, and is lit by sunlight coming through a very large window at the top.
(2) GM: The man at the slected wagon looks at you.
(2) GM: Man: What business?
** (3) Elorin lets Kibin do the talking **
** (24) Kibin sighs. Doesn't really know what to say... **
(2) GM: Jason: We're looking for a little information.....
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (How about 'Hi. I'm looking for other silver dragons who might know something about a gem I found.')
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Rather simple, but it works)
(2) GM: Man: Ah, well, I don't know much; just here to gurad the wagon while the owner negotiates a trade with the dragon that just came in.
(2) GM: He went up that stairwell ...
(2) GM: The man points to the stairwell on the opposite side from the door.
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (I guess that works too. :D )
(2) GM: Man: When he comes to an arrangement with the dragon - if he does - he'll come back down and tell me. Takes a while, though, and when he's down, he'll tell me to let the dragon have the stuff.
(2) GM: Man: Then the dragon will come down....
(2) GM: The man points upwards, and makes a circular motion with his hands
(24) Kibin: Does this happen often?
(2) GM: Man: And grab the goods.
(2) GM: Man: Oh, usually about one merchant per dragon that arrives. They come in about ever hour or so. Takes a while for negotiations, and we're usually done in a day or two.
(24) Kibin: Huh.
(24) Kibin: I guess we wait, then.
(2) GM: Man: Wait for which?
(24) Kibin: The dragon?
(2) GM: Man: If you want to talk to a dragon, you'd do better to climb the stairs and wait with the negotiaters.
(24) Kibin: Or we could do that.
** (24) Kibin goes to climb the stairs and wait, then. **
** (9) Eldon Quickfoot follows Kibin **
(2) GM: Jason follows, of course, as does Kaylin.
** (3) Elorin follows **
** (24) Kibin notices that everything seems bigger again. **
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (Heh. One of the first sessions of the other game, Fyron decided his character was going to follow mine...I had already decided my character was going to follow his... :D )
(2) GM: At the top of the stairs, you come out ... onto the balcony, where one dragon sits, looking over the merchants.
(24) Kibin: (5 minutes.)
** (3) Elorin follows himself :P **
(2) GM: Most the merchants are holding up a small sample of their wares - gems, livestock (you feel sorry for the person who carried the sheep up), and a few other things.
(2) GM: They look like they're getting a little fatigued.
(3) Elorin: (this seems like a good break point if Kibin has to go in 5 minutes)
(3) Elorin: (he's the leader in this plot thread)
(2) GM: True; see how to attract a dragon's attention next week....
(2) GM: Well......
(9) Eldon Quickfoot: (How? Tis' simple! You yell 'All dragons are mindless lizards!')
(24) Kibin: (That would attract my attention as well.)
(2) GM: (let me qualify that - the right kind of attention....)
(24) Kibin: (As I have more intelligence than you. :P)
(24) Kibin: (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/toolsScreen.html sweet)
(3) Elorin: (heh, reminds me of this: "Women are only good for serving men, be it through cooking, cleaning, or physical pleasure!")
(2) GM: Welll;

Server Administrator-> Closing Server......
(24) Kibin: (What's wit hthe lines?)
(24) Kibin:
(2) GM: What, these:

(2) GM: ?
(24) Kibin:

(24) Kibin: (Yeah.)
(2) GM: Oh, just little horizontal rules for story breaks.
(24) Kibin: So they signify when I can have OOC parties and when I can't?
(2) GM: Mostly, yeah;
(2) GM: "See" you next week.....
Game disconnected!
