Server Administrator-> You have connected to an OpenRPG server, version '1.6.1'.
Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for
a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.
Session is schedualed for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.
(2) Kibin (enter): 09:48
(2) Kibin: RANDOM NUMBER!
(2) Kibin: Please?
(2) Kibin: Yoohoo.
(1) Jack Simth: Missed it.
(3) Kaylin (enter): 09:52
(1) Jack Simth: Greetings.
(3) Kaylin: Guten Morgen
(1) Jack Simth: Bonjour.
(2) Kibin: Aloha.
(3) Kaylin: Howdy
(1) Jack Simth: Aloha.
(2) Kibin: You know it's cool when you block something automatically in real life, like if someone tries hitting you with an empty plastic mountain dew bottle?
(2) Kibin: Especially if you hit it out of their hands.
(1) Jack Simth: What's better is CATCHING it.
(2) Kibin: Heh, yeah.
(3) Kaylin: especially if it's full
(2) Kibin: Still cool, because I did it without thinking.
(2) Kibin: http://www.wimp.com/humanevolution/
(2) Kibin: SECRET NINJA TRAINING VIDEO!
(4) Kibin (enter): 10:02
(4) Kibin: Gah.
(4) Kibin: I'll ask again.
(4) Kibin: How exactly is dragon bile posion made?
(1) Jack Simth: With the craft rules; it's named dragon bile poison, it's not simply extract of dragon.
(4) Kibin: Still wondering why it's called that.
(2) Kibin (exit): 10:04
(1) Jack Simth: They needed lots of names, and Dragon Bile sounded spiffy.
(4) Kibin: Well, I was wondering if your continuity had how it was created, or something. :P
(4) Kibin: Anyway, what do you think of my first attempt at a powergamy character? :)
(4) Kibin: 8 stabbity attacks of doom!
(5) Elorin (enter): 10:08
(1) Jack Simth: Needs Quickdraw, and maybe a ring of blink. With a Rogue, the point is all sneak attack all the time. To get more in, you need touch attacks; flasks of acid technically work (at range, even) and the Blink ring permits all of them to be sneak attacks, or very nearly.
(4) Kibin: He does have quickdraw, silly.
(1) Jack Simth: Ah, missed that.
(4) Kibin: And with grapples/flanking, not really a concern.
(4) Kibin: And still. 260 average damage if all 8 sneak attacks hit, is pretty good.
(1) Jack Simth: Occasionally, you don't want to be inside something's range. And high-AC critters usually have low touch AC's. Let's see.... what was that attack progression?
(4) Kibin: 21/21/21/21/16/16/11/11?
(1) Jack Simth: Suppose you pit him up against something with an AC of 32; reasonable, at that level, no?
(4) Kibin: Perhaps.
(5) Elorin: You got that with what, Haste, Rapid Shot, and all the TWF feats?
(1) Jack Simth: All right, I'm counting three 21's, how are you getting four?
(4) Kibin: Two speed weapons.
(4) Kibin: Extra attack with that weapon at full attack bonus.
(4) Kibin: I mostly wanted to see how many attacks I could get.
(5) Elorin: Speed weapons don't stack
(1) Jack Simth: "Speed: When making a full attack action, the wielder of a speed weapon may make one extra attack with it. The attack uses the wielder’s full base attack bonus, plus any modifiers appropriate to the situation. (This benefit is not cumulative with similar effects, such as a haste spell.)"
(4) Kibin: With it.
(5) Elorin: Having it on both just means you can choose which one to make the extra attack with.
(4) Kibin: The speed weapon effects the weapon it's on.
(4) Kibin: It doesn't say it can't stack with similar effects on OTHER weapons.
(1) Jack Simth: It doesn't stack with itself. Seriously.
(5) Elorin: It says it doesn't stack with "similar effects", with no exceptions.
(4) Kibin: Meh.
(4) Kibin: How much would Kibin weigh?
(1) Jack Simth: Seven attacks, then; 21/21/21/16/16/11/11; against AC 32, the first three attacks have a 50/50 chance of hitting (11-20); the next two, a 25% chance (16-20); the final two, a 5% chance (20 only)
(6) nutritious (enter): 10:19
(1) Jack Simth: With 9d6+1, an average hit does [3.5*9+1] -> 32.5
(6) nutritious: Disconnecting from server...
(6) nutritious (exit): 10:19
(1) Jack Simth: So, you have, on average vs. AC 32, [1.5*32.5+0.5*32.5+0.1*32.5] -> 68.25
(1) Jack Simth: Per round.
(4) Kibin: Okay. Now for how much Kibin would weigh...
(1) Jack Simth: Oh, about that of a Halfling; 30 pounds plus height modifier in pounds (2d4}
(4) Kibin: Theoretically according to the reach rules, I should be pretty short.
(1) Jack Simth: About that of a halfling; 2'8" +2d4"
(4) Kibin: Reach for small characters is four feet.
(4) Kibin: For four legged characters, that's halved, I believe.
(1) Jack Simth: It's presumed they lean out of their squares a little.
(1) Jack Simth: But a small dragon's reach is 5 feet.
(1) Jack Simth: Well, 22 after.
(4) Kibin: That's vertical reach.
(1) Jack Simth: Dragon Space/Reach, Attacks, and Damage
(4) Kibin: Vertical reach is how high you can reach something without jumping.
(1) Jack Simth: Size Space/Reach* 1 Bite 2 Claws
(1) Jack Simth: Small 5 ft./5 ft. 1d6 1d4
(1) Jack Simth: That's for attacks.
(4) Kibin: Yeah, that's for attacks.
(4) Kibin: On the jump skill listing, it has a little table for vertical reach.
(1) Jack Simth: Or do you mean you're looking for his vertical reach, to see what shelves he can get to?
(4) Kibin: Actually, I was trying to figure out proportions based on that.
(1) Jack Simth: Ah. Well, he can reach two feet high. About knee level, according to the Jump skill....
(4) Kibin: No, he can reach two feet high, if he goes on two legs.
(4) Kibin: four feet high*
(1) Jack Simth: Although that would appear to mosly be to the awkward shape for being on four legs, so his actual height would be about two feet.
(4) Kibin: Hmmmm.
(4) Kibin: Knee level is good.
(1) Jack Simth: Although length would be in the neighborhood of three or four; he could stand up to see over a crowd of halflings or gnomes.
(4) Kibin: We could use math!
(4) Kibin: Since the average human is...
(1) Jack Simth: Anyway..... 27 after....
(3) Kaylin: I gotta go in a little over an hour :(
(5) Elorin: Hmm, something interesting for Jason to try with Shadow Evocation if he ever gets high enough level and you get the right splatbooks :How to get 140% real Shadow Evocations of almost any spell (it's about 3/4 of the way down)
(4) Kibin: 5 foot 8 inches?
(1) Jack Simth: So lets go, then....
Moving to room 'D and D'..

Server Administrator->
Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for
a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.
Session is schedualed for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.
(4) Kibin (enter): 10:33
(5) Elorin (enter): 10:33
(4) Kibin: (Average that to 5 and a half...)
(3) Kaylin (enter): 10:34
(4) Kibin: (2.75 feet, it seems.)
(4) Kibin: (For an average small two-legged creature.)
(1) Jack Simth:
When we last left our heroes, they were... making camp, having just found the golden cow figurine.
** (4) Kibin would probally be snoring in the snow. **
(1) Jack Simth: [1d100] -> [99] = (99)
(4) Kibin: (Helloooooo.)
(4) Kibin: (If I remember, we stopped during the night, when we were sleeping? You'd probally be waking up, getting ready to try the scrying again?)
(1) Jack Simth: The night passes without incident.....
** (5) Elorin tries to investigate some bumps on his back **
** (5) Elorin discovers it's hard to get a look at your own back **
whispering to Elorin, Touch, however, reveals that they are slightly sensitive....
(3) Kaylin: What's the matter, Elorin?
(5) Elorin: Oh, my back's been itching in a few spots for a while, and now those spots seem to be getting bigger and a little sensitive
** (4) Kibin continues snoring while everyone else is probally still preparing spells and stuff. **
(3) Kaylin: That sounds dangerous.
whispering to Kaylin, Knoweledge(Religion)
(5) Elorin: If it were dangerous, I would have expected all the times I've cast Heal to do something about it.
(3) Kaylin (whispering): Knowledge(Religion): [1d20 + 13] -> [14,13] = (27)
whispering to Kaylin, You aren't quite familiar with this phenominon.
(3) Kaylin: Hmm, that's odd. Not really familiar with what's going on.
(5) Elorin: (OOC: A high enough knowledge religion check would probably tell you)
(5) Elorin: (pretty high DC, though, I'd think)
(3) Kaylin: (Just did that in whisper with DM, rolled 27 :P)
(1) Jack Simth: (settled on 15+favoured soul level of 17.....)
(3) Kaylin: (daang, I'd need a 19 to make that)
** (4) Kibin peacefully sleeps while everyone else is talking about bumps on back. **
(1) Jack Simth: (Yep; a dedicated cleric, however, would have little issue with it.)
** (3) Kaylin goes and prepares her spells and feels all wise and archmagey **
(5) Elorin: (metagame: cast Limited Wish to get max ranks in Knowledge Religion, redo the check, then switch them back with another cast :P)
(3) Kaylin: (hehehe)
(4) Kibin: (No. That's called wasting XP.)
(5) Elorin: (that to)
(5) Elorin: (*too)
(3) Kaylin: (Plus I can only spend 63 XP at the moment)
(4) Kibin: (IC!)
(4) Kibin: (*goes to set up LOTR:ROTK to watch while Kibin peacefully sleeps.*)
** (5) Elorin puts it out of his mind for a while and goes back to standing watch **
(1) Jack Simth: (Nah, metagame would be going by the recent FAQ ruling that a human's extra skill point per level is an Ex ability, and thus you get it by Shapechange; then Shapechanging into a human and putting all those new skill points in the same, just now apporpriet skill....)
(5) Elorin: (lol)
(3) Kaylin: (rowr)
(1) Jack Simth: (I don't much care for some fo the FAQ rulingins, did I ever mention that?)
(5) Elorin: (then Shapechange back and forth to lose and regain them, put them into a different skill...)
(3) Kaylin: (it's a good life being magical)
(4) Kibin: (I like our GM just fine. Best GM I've ever met.)
(1) Jack Simth: (Have you ever met me?)
(4) Kibin: (*pokes Jack Simth's electrons*)
(4) Kibin: (Kind of.)
(5) Elorin: (so, anyway, next morning...)
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: So, what are we doing today?
(5) Elorin: Well, I can't try the scrying again until late.
(5) Elorin: Kaylin just has to prepare it, though.
(5) Elorin: Any ideas about how we should try talking the eagle out of another feather?
(3) Kaylin: You wish me to prepare a scrying spell?
(5) Elorin: (have you read last session's log?)
(4) Kibin: (Anyone know why my DVD player on the computer is so quiet?
(1) Jack Simth: (quiet as in "won't play sound" or quiet as in "it doesn't sound like it's spinning while it's playing DVD's"?)
(4) Kibin: (Quiet as in I have to turn the sound all the way up, so that other sound is deafening.)
(1) Jack Simth: (There's like three different places to control the volume; sounds like one of the harder to find places is down.)
(4) Kibin: (Hmmmm.)
(5) Elorin: (there's probably a volume setting specifically for the DVD player somewhere, but the universal volume control is easier to find so your using it instead)
(4) Kibin: (Where would that be?)
(4) Kibin: (Gah, everyone died again>)
(1) Jack Simth: ?
(4) Kibin: (*pokes Elorin.*)
(5) Elorin: (DVD volume probably has a control somewhere in the DVD player software you're using, probably bundled with all the other controls)
(5) Elorin: (like fast forward, fullscreen mode, etc.)
(4) Kibin: (Yeah. It's set to max.)
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Yeah, a scrying spell would be good.
(3) Kaylin: Very well, then.
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Would seem Kibin needs a gold feather.
(5) Elorin: (Hmm, well I had been guessing you'd been using the volume knob on the speakers or the master volume control for the computer, but it seems I was wrong)
(4) Kibin: (I turned the players volume to max. Then I have to turn the speakers volume to nearly max.)
(3) Kaylin: (that's odd... I thought I had Greater Scrying...)
(3) Kaylin: (doesn't appear on my spell list)
(5) Elorin: (I think you were planning to cooperatively make a scroll of it with me, then scribe it, and we haven't done that yet)
(1) Jack Simth: (Have you found the system valume? There's commonly a little volume icon on the taskbar somewhere)
(3) Kaylin: (Ah, that makes sense.)
(5) Elorin: (there might be a DVD-related bar in there that's set low)
(3) Kaylin: I'm sorry, it seems I don't currently posess a scrying spell... we were planning on crafting one, though.
(4) Kibin: (The point is that all the other sounds on my computer are superloud.)
(5) Elorin: Oh yeah.
(1) Jack Simth: (System volume has multiple sound controls for different sources - Wave, Line In, Microphone, CD audio......)
(5) Elorin: Unfortunately, doing that now would take 3 days
(4) Kibin: (With all of them near max.)
(5) Elorin: (brb)
(1) Jack Simth: (Well, this kind of remote diagnostic is rather difficult, so... game?)
(4) Kibin: (Yeah.)
** (4) Kibin continues sleeping peacefully. Zzz... **
(1) Jack Simth: Jason: Well, do you have any other way of locating someone?
(7) Rilyrr (enter): 11:09
(4) Kibin: (Welcome.)
(7) Rilyrr: (sorry Im late, had to do some work)
(4) Kibin: (Everyone else is talking about scrying to find the location of this giant eagle to get a golden feathre. I'm snoring peacefully in the snow nearby.)
(1) Jack Simth: (That's fine)
(1) Jack Simth: (it is on the Druid list.....)
(5) Elorin: (let's see, what does Discern Location require, again? I'll check...)
(1) Jack Simth: "To find a creature with the spell, you must have seen the creature or have some item that once belonged to it."
(5) Elorin: (aha, having seen it qualifies!)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot (enter): 11:13
(5) Elorin: Ok, let's try something else...
(7) Rilyrr: (let me rest for a day and I can scry it)
** (5) Elorin spends 10 minutes casting **
(4) Kibin: (Everyone else is talking about scrying to find the location of this giant eagle to get a golden feathre. I'm snoring peacefully in the snow nearby. For Eldon.)
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Discern Location ( level 8, "Reveals exact location of creature or object." )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 8 Spell ( level 8, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) Jack Simth: Just rested; prepare away.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Sorry, took longer than I thought)
(1) Jack Simth: That's fine - not much has happened yet.....
(4) Kibin: (Hehe, no, I'm still sleeping.)
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot does backflips. **
(7) Rilyrr: (are we anywhere near a pool of water?)
(1) GM: (Oh, i'm sure there's a puddle from glacial melt somewhere.....)
(1) GM: (Survival check?)
(7) Rilyrr: Survival Skill Check: [1d20+27] -> [5,27] = (32)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Why not spot?)
(4) Kibin: (Heh. I wonder if D&D elves are as immune to alcohol as Legolas.)
(5) Elorin: (so, Discern Location says?)
whispering to Rilyrr, Yep, you find a suitable pool of water.
(3) Kaylin: (We should find out.. Elorin, let's go hit some bars :)
(5) Elorin: (alcohol is classified as a poison, I believe)
(5) Elorin: (which means we're all immune)
(3) Kaylin: (awesome)
whispering to Elorin, Prime Material, Eastern Continent, Gardens of Gargantia, Largest Tree
(7) Rilyrr: (how well do I know the eagle we are looking for?)
(1) GM: (Let's see... did you go on the quest to find the bone for the Archmage?)
(5) Elorin: Hmm, largest tree in the Gardens of Gargantia, Eastern Continent
(7) Rilyrr: (yes)
(1) GM: (In that case, "Seen Once")
(3) Kaylin: If you can give me a good description, I'll bet I could teleport us there.
(1) GM: (Firsthand - +0)
(7) Rilyrr: Rilyrr Tried to cast Greater Scrying but has used all of them for today, "Please rest so I can cast more."
(7) Rilyrr: (ack)
(7) Rilyrr: Rilyrr Tried to cast Greater Scrying but has used all of them for today, "Please rest so I can cast more."
(1) GM: (Forgot to refresh after adding it in, or forgot to set it to 1, rather than the default of 0)
(7) Rilyrr: Rilyrr casts Greater Scrying ( level 7, "As scrying, but faster and longer." )
(1) GM: SR penetration?
(1) GM: [1d20+16] -> [15,16] = (31)
(1) GM: Also, save DC?
(7) Rilyrr: (26)
(1) GM: You don't get an image, then.
(7) Rilyrr: [1d20+17] -> [4,17] = (21)
(1) GM: On two counts.
** (4) Kibin snores peacefully in the snow while they're figuring out where to teleport to. **
(1) GM: Knoweledge(Georgraphy), anyone?
(3) Kaylin: Knowledge: Geography Skill Check: [1d20+13] -> [1,13] = (14)
(3) Kaylin: (Oh sure.)
(1) GM: Anyone else have it?
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (D&D skills are too all-or-nothing)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Can it be used untrained?)
whispering to Kaylin, You've heard of the continent, at least, and are fairly sure you could Greater Teleport there.
(3) Kaylin: (no)
(1) GM: (Not for DC's over 10, no.)
(4) Kibin: (For knowledge skills 10 or less.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Then no. Uh, I can't remember what we decided about goggles of See Invisibility/Night Vision?...)
(3) Kaylin: Well, I could probably teleport you to that continent...
(4) Kibin: (Yes, I think.)
(3) Kaylin: but otherwise I'm going to have to look up an atlas somwhere.
(5) Elorin: (we got the goggles)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ok, thanks)
(5) Elorin: So, do some research on the location or work on that scroll of Greater Scrying for a day until I can try again? We were explicitly not given a time limit...
(3) Kaylin: We could teleport back to a shop and use a crafting portal for the scroll.
(5) Elorin: That's also an option
(3) Kaylin: Procrastination rarely is profitable, either, and it might be beneficial to have two of us able to cast Greater Scrying.
(5) Elorin: Three, counting Rilyrr
(3) Kaylin: True...though I will confess I'm not entirely impartial on this issue.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (So...Why are we looking for birdy feathers?)
(5) Elorin: Wizards, always looking for more spells...
(4) Kibin: (Because we need a golden feather for the quest thingie.)
(3) Kaylin: Exactly.
(7) Rilyrr: We should take the time to do it properly so we don't end up in an unfortunate situation
(5) Elorin: (silver dragons want Kibin to undergo their ritual for adopting him into their clan)
(4) Kibin: (That's why we got golden cow. :)
(5) Elorin: (they sent us on a quest to bring back a particular golden cow (already found), a live cow, and a gold feather)
(1) GM: (Kibin's adoption quest - dragon gave a "fetch" mission - golden cow figurine from under a particular mountain (have), a live cow, and a gold feather - can't buy or steal them, help is allowed (provided it's not hired or stolen), no time limit)
(7) Rilyrr: (didnt we get a feather from this bird?)
(4) Kibin: (Yes. But we sold it.)
(5) Elorin: (yes, but we sold it before we got here)
(1) GM: (which they sold for the cash)
(7) Rilyrr: (ah)
(5) Elorin: (and we're not allowed to buy it back, even if it's still intact)
(4) Kibin: (Because we didn't know about quest thingie.)
(4) Kibin: (Hey, theoretically, one of you could buy it, and give it to me. :)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah, thanks)
(3) Kaylin: (I don't think that'll count)
(5) Elorin: (I don't think they'd accept that loophole)
(4) Kibin: (I didn't buy it, did I? I didn't give you money to buy it.)
(5) Elorin: (I expect the buy/steal provision applies to your helpers as well)
(5) Elorin: (the only exception would be if we had bought/stolen it before we became your helpers)
(4) Kibin: (Back IC.)
(5) Elorin: (so, teleport to shop, scribe scroll in portal, teleport back?)
(4) Kibin: (Someone needs to tell Rilyrr about what the crafting portals are exactly.)
(7) Rilyrr: (that might be a good thing)
(5) Elorin: (Crafting portal: Fairly universal device in magic shops. It's a permanent portal to a plane where time passes at a different rate. 1 day in portal = 1 round outside)
(4) Kibin: (I can't. I'm in a deep catatonic state.)
(1) GM: Jason: Well, I suppose if you're in a hurry to learn the spell, we could try the Crafting Portal to make the scroll.
(5) Elorin: (Shops usually charge 100 gp to use it)
(7) Rilyrr: (ah, that makes sense then)
(4) Kibin: (Oh, and how long has it been since the great warping casting was finished? About 12 days now?)
(5) Elorin: (yes, you are now over a week old :P)
(4) Kibin: (Just keeping track of when I advance another age category...)
(4) Kibin: (Which should be sometime in the epic levels.)
(3) Kaylin: (several years?)
(4) Kibin: (5 years, to be exact.)
(5) Elorin: (not likely unless you get accelerated aging or we have a long period of down time)
(4) Kibin: (Yes likely. It'll just take a very very very very long time.)
(5) Elorin: Crafting portal. Find a shop and pay, or try searching through the ruins for the Archmages' portal?
(3) Kaylin: Jason: my thought exactly.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: Paying would be easier, and we don't seem that short on cash.
(5) Elorin: (so, are we just going to talk about or actually do it?)
(4) Kibin: (Yes we might do it, if we do it IC.)
(1) GM: Jason: Shall we go, then?
(3) Kaylin: I suppose, but either of those options require going to a store.
(7) Rilyrr: We can pay for it out of my share of the goods we sold
** (4) Kibin snores some more. **
(3) Kaylin: You don't want that?
(5) Elorin: It's specifically for Kaylin's spellbook, and I think she can afford it...
(3) Kaylin: I can most certainly.
(5) Elorin: (though the xp cost is a bit close - [7*13*25/50] -> 45 out of 63, I think you said)
(3) Kaylin: (Well, it's allowed, that's the important bit :)
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot does a handstand on Kibins' back. **
(5) Elorin: Though, now that you mention those goods, I don't think you've had the opportunity to spend any of it, Rilyrr
(1) GM: Jason: Umm... isn't that going to wake him up?
(3) Kaylin: (hmmph, I gotta go get dressed and warmed up.... Kaylin's going to be fine with whatever you do as long as it involves gaining knowldge/spells)
(5) Elorin: Would you like to come along?
(3) Kaylin: (want to NPC her?)
(1) GM: (Sure.....)
** (4) Kibin lets out a startled roar, and steps out from under Eldon. **
(3) Kaylin has sent you a tree node...
(3) Kaylin: (Good luck, have fun y'all)
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot tumbles to his feet. **
(7) Rilyrr: I would rather stay out here then go into a city if I can, you go on ahead
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Time to get going."
** (4) Kibin grumbles, "You could have just woken me up like a regular person would..." **
(3) Kaylin: Teleport to home...
(3) Kaylin (exit): 11:47
(1) GM: Kaylin: I suppose.... Gather round, everyone.
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot gathers round. **
** (4) Kibin gathers around too. And wonders how magical teleportation works. **
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "What kind of swashbuckler would I be if I didn't occasionally do something crazy?"
(4) Kibin: A safer swashbuckler?
(5) Elorin: (I guess we'll need to find a wilderness shop to prevent Rilyrr from falling far behind equipment-wise)
(1) GM: (That.... would mostly stretch believeabliity a little much.... hmm.....where would a wilderness shop live? And where would it get support? Hmm.....)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Oh, I'm safe enough."
(5) Elorin: (one that specifically caters to druids and that a large organization of druids knows about?)
(4) Kibin: (They should have some wilderness stuff at magic shops.)
(1) GM: And once everyone who's coming gathers round, Kaylin Teleports off to Ye Olde Shoppe of Majgicke
(5) Elorin: (maybe with a druid as the shopkeeper?)
(4) Kibin: Hmmmph. What are you going to do if I run after you next time you do that?
(1) GM: At the Shoppe...
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Greetings. What can I do for you this fine morning?
(5) Elorin: We need some scroll making materials and the use of your crafting portal
(5) Elorin: She's paying
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: I don't know yet.
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Ah, of course, of course; Right this way....
** (4) Kibin goes take a look at the pretty magical items while he waits for them to get done with the spell. **
(1) GM: The shoppekeeper takes the money, and leads Kaylin and Elorin into the Portal so they can craft....
(5) Elorin: (hmm, 20+k gp, at this level I'll just save it until I have a good idea for now)
whispering to Kibin, Amongst the potion section, you find something titled "The Master's Greater Magic Fang"
(5) Elorin: ([7*13*25*.5] -> 1137.5 gp cost)
(5) Elorin: (plus portal fee for two)
(5) Elorin: (brb)
** (4) Kibin asks the shopkeeper, "What does this potion do?" He points to one of the potions on a shelf. **
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Oh, it makes a critter's bite much more effective for about twenty hours.
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: It's from the druid line of potions - sure, at 3,000 gp, it's a little pricy, but it lasts all day, and tends to make mincemeat of your enemies when applied to a pet - or in your case, to yourself.
** (4) Kibin hmmmms. **
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Mind you, it's mostly useless when you have a friendly druid around, but hey, who does?
(4) Kibin: I'll go talk with my friendly druid, then.
** (5) Elorin comes out of the crafting portal **
(5) Elorin: Oh yeah, we need this diamond appraised
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Ah, drat; I keep forgetting my classes; I'm not supposed to mention that....
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Oh? Let me see....
** (4) Kibin goes over to Rilyrr, then. **
(7) Rilyrr: (really?)
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Ah, yes... good quality ... it's worth 15,000, on the open market.
(1) GM: (He didn't come.....)
(4) Kibin: (Oh, he didn't come with us?)
(4) Kibin: (Then I don't. :P)
(1) GM: (Doesn't like cities....)
(4) Kibin: (Heh. :P)
(4) Kibin: (I don't think that dragons hate cities, they're just usually too big to fit in them.)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Ready to go back?
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Rilyrr is a dragon?)
(5) Elorin: Hmm, that's either a bit wasteful or not enough for what I'd need it for.
(4) Kibin: (No. I'm just making a random related comment.)
(5) Elorin: I don't suppose you have some smaller diamonds you'd be willing to trade for it?
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah)
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: We do sell diamonds, although I am in the business of making a profit.
(5) Elorin: Equal value, just to get the price per unit down
(5) Elorin: Though, I would be willing to toss in a little gold on the side
** (4) Kibin goes off to look at other magical items, since Rilyrr isn't here. **
(1) GM: Anyone up for a quick lunch break?
(4) Kibin: (Nooooooo. :(
(5) Elorin: (the problem with cross-time-zone games, I've already had lunch)
(4) Kibin: (Why can't you people eat at the computer like most people do?)
(1) GM:
(4) Kibin: (What to do while I wait...)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (http://www.countyoursheep.com/)
(4) Kibin: (I can't highlight you know.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hit the notebook beside the 'scroll on' button)
(5) Elorin: link
(4) Kibin: (Me bored.)
(5) Elorin: (what do you call a 140% real Shadow Evocation?)
(4) Kibin: (A flying cow.)
(5) Elorin: Hmm, something interesting for Jason to try with Shadow Evocation if he ever gets high enough level and you get the right splatbooks :How to get 140% real Shadow Evocations of almost any spell (it's about 3/4 of the way down)
(5) Elorin: (If such a thing actually works, does it mean that succeeding on the will save is bad because you take 40% extra damage? :P)
(4) Kibin: (Since it's not using core rules, I don't really care.)
(4) Kibin: (I only view something as an accomplishment if it's using the stuff in the SRD.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (I would dissallow that)
(4) Kibin: (Me too. Anything that's not using core rules needs to be looked at very very carefully.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Anything that makes a shadow spell more real than 'reality'
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: * Needs to be looked at carefully)
(5) Elorin: (hmm, Kibin, if your kobold form constitution is less than in dragon form, the recent errata on the alternate form ability will help a bit when you change into a kobold)
(5) Elorin: (d20srd is pretty good about incorporating errata quickly, so the linked entry already has the changes)
(4) Kibin: (Okay... Can you tell me what the differences are in english?)
(5) Elorin: (the one in particular I was referring to is that hp doesn't change even if your constitution is different in the new form)
(4) Kibin: (Hmmmm.)
(4) Kibin: (But I can't exactly fly as a kobold. :P)
(5) Elorin: (of course, this does also remove the possibility of gaining tons of hp by changing into something with high con)
(4) Kibin: (Hehe. Dire beaver of doom.)
(5) Elorin: (and never-ending rage...)
(1) GM: Back. Ready?
(4) Kibin: (Can you clarify?)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yep)
(5) Elorin: (I am)
(1) GM: (Until the Dire Badger or the Target is dead.....)
(5) Elorin: (Kibin: you don't remember us turning you into a slug to end your rage?)
(5) Elorin: (or was it a snail?)
(4) Kibin: (Yes, I remember. I'm talking to the GM.)
(1) GM: (Clarify which?)
(4) Kibin: (The constitution changes from alternate form, and HP.)
(4) Kibin: (One possibility is that if I would be reduced to less that 0 HP by an attack, I revert to normal form.)
(1) GM: New version is quite clear on the subject; no HP changes.
(4) Kibin: (Okay... What about amulets of health?)
(5) Elorin: (they have full effect, provided both forms can wear them)
(4) Kibin: (If you get the extra HP, go down to about 10 HP left, then remove the amulet of health, do you still have 10 HP left?)
(5) Elorin: (no)
(5) Elorin: (Alternate Form changes your base con, and specifies that that change has no effect on hp)
(5) Elorin: (the effect of an Amulet of Health is as normal)
(5) Elorin: (in all forms that can use it)
(4) Kibin: (So if you're down to about 1-2 HP with an amulet of health, then go into an anti-magic field, you'd probally die?)
(5) Elorin: (yes)
(1) GM: (Pretty much, yes; this is why it's a BAD idea for a Barbarian who's low on HP to end a rage....)
(1) GM: Anyway... at the store....
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (BRB)
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Will there be anything else?
(5) Elorin: (diamonds?)
(5) Elorin: I don't suppose you have some smaller diamonds you'd be willing to trade for it?
(5) Elorin: Equal value, just to get the price per unit down
(5) Elorin: Though, I would be willing to toss in a little gold on the side
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Ah, right ... tell you what; I'll break it up into an even value for, say, a 10% commision on the value of the gems.
(5) Elorin: So, 1500 gp to break it into 3 5k gems?
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Right.
(5) Elorin: Ok
(4) Kibin: (This guy in the D&D chat said that it's not possible to die from removing constitution bonuses.)
** (5) Elorin gets out 150 pp **
(5) Elorin: (who?)
(1) GM: The Shoppekeeper takes the money and the gem, and hands over three new diamonds.
(4) Kibin: (AndrewW)
(5) Elorin: Thank you. That will be all, for now.
** (5) Elorin goes over to Kaylin **
** (4) Kibin goes over to Kaylin with Elorin. **
(1) GM: And, once everyone's ready to go back, Kaylin Teleports.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Ah, good to see you again, Rilyrr.
(7) Rilyrr: Did you get what you needed?
(1) GM: Kaylin: Yes, I did....
Kaylin casts Greater Scrying ( level 7, "As scrying, but faster and longer." )
Kaylin can cast Greater Scrying 0 more times
(4) Kibin: Yeah. Rilyrr, can you start casting Greater Magic Fang on me daily?
(1) GM: [1d20+16] -> [15,16] = (31)
(7) Rilyrr: Sure
(1) GM: Kaylin: Not that I'm having any better luck looking at that bird....
(5) Elorin: (Eldon, you ever going to ask me about Greater Magic Weapon?)
(4) Kibin: Preferably so that it lasts all day.
(4) Kibin: And night.
(5) Elorin: (that was an SR check? Kaylin's got +22 on those)
(7) Rilyrr: It will only last 15 hours
(7) Rilyrr: So I'll cast it on you in the mornings
(1) GM: (That was the Will save for the"Will Negates" aspect of Greater Scrying - DC was only 25)
(5) Elorin: (ah)
(1) GM: [1d20+22] -> [18,22] = (40)
(1) GM: (SR passed)
(4) Kibin: (He says that if you remove the amulet, it only modifies your max HP. So if you were at 20/40, and removed the amulet for -10 HP boost, you'd be at 20/30 instead of 10/30. And if you put the amulet back on, you'd be at 20/40 instead of 30/40.)
(5) Elorin: (well, he's wrong)
(4) Kibin: (It makes sense.)
(5) Elorin: (technically, you don't have "current hp", you have "max hp" and "damage")
(1) GM: (He's working under a quiet house rule; HP from Con changes are not lost first as Temporary HP are.)
(4) Kibin: (Meh.)
(5) Elorin: (Eldon, you there?)
(4) Kibin: Isn't there something you can do to extend the time?
(4) Kibin: Because we have a habit of being attacked during the night.
(5) Elorin: Well, unless anyone has another idea, I guess we'll just camp for a while until one of the three of us succeeds at scrying the bird
(1) GM: Jason: Hey, Elorin - what's that bead you use every morning?
(5) Elorin: That? It's a Bead of Karma, makes my spells more powerful for 10 minutes each day
(5) Elorin: It's great for when I'm casting spells that last all day long
(4) Kibin: (Hey, let's just get a 3,000 GP metamagic rod. O.o)
(5) Elorin: (OOC: +4 caster level for 10 minutes, only usable by divine casters)
(7) Rilyrr: I'll prepare 2, make sure to tell me when it runs out so I can replace it
(4) Kibin: (Actually, I was thinking you'd do two for bite/claw attack to +4 each.)
(1) GM: (Yep; and Druids are Divine casters - add in an Orange Prisim Ioun Stone, and he can manage a caster level of 20; which makes for the +5 version, rather than the +3....)
(4) Kibin: (Thought Rilyrr was 16th?)
(7) Rilyrr: (almost)
(4) Kibin: (Meh.)
(1) GM: (Different claws; he'd need three castings to get them all)
(5) Elorin: (hmm, if you don't rule that only the person who activates it can use it, which you'd have to if you were thinking of me and Rilyrr sharing it, I could activate it and pass it to Kaylin if I wanted to)
(4) Kibin: (Perfect for a metamagic rod! :)
(1) GM: (Actually, I was thinking he might want to spend a little cash.....)
(1) GM: (For his own)
(1) GM: (They are quire useful, after all)
(5) Elorin: (yeah, he does have some cash to spend...)
(4) Kibin: Isn't there some type of magic that can make it last longer?
(5) Elorin: (lesser Rod of Extend Spell is only 3k IIRC)
(4) Kibin: (I SAID THAT!)
(5) Elorin: Yes, but he may not have learned that
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Back)
(5) Elorin: (how much does Rilyrr have, anyway?)
(1) GM: Jason: Oh yes, there are definately ways to make a spell last longer. Use them myself, quite regularly.
(7) Rilyrr: (I have 17k)
(5) Elorin: (Eldon, perfect time to ask me for Greater Magic Weapon IC)
(4) Kibin: (Actually, technically it's 2 weapons. There's 1 bite weapon, and 2 claw weapons which are theoretically classified as the same natural weapon.)
(5) Elorin: (that's all? I'm pretty sure you should have more from our recent loot sales)
(7) Rilyrr: I have no ways currently to increase the duration of spells, don't normally need them
(1) GM: (No, they aren't the same, they are just listed that way for convinience; it's three natural weapons)
(7) Rilyrr: (I didn't see where/when you split the gold)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Is there such a thing as Greater Magic Weapon?"
(5) Elorin: Yep, use it every day
(5) Elorin: It's a fairly major part of what makes my bow so devastating
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: Could you cast it on my rapier?
(5) Elorin: Sure.
(7) Rilyrr: You are welcome to take my share of the gold and buy such means for me if you feel it would benefit us but I have no wish to enter a city unless absolutly nessassary
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Greater Magic Weapon ( level 4, "+1 bonus/four levels (max +5)" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: Thank you.
(5) Elorin: (only +4 for the moment)
(4) Kibin: I don't think that would work with me, I don't use weapons as much as you people. A little harder to disarm you than me.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (I think you have that backwards)
(5) Elorin: I'll add it to my daily morning routine right before breakfast.
(4) Kibin: (No. Harder to disarm you than me.)
(4) Kibin: (To disarm me, it requires either major surgery or a polymorph spell.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Which is harder to disarm 'me' than 'you')
(5) Elorin: (and you said that's easier than disarming a weapon)
(4) Kibin: (I said that it's harder to disarm YOU PEOPLE than it would be to disarm ME.)
(5) Elorin: (so surgery or polymorph is easier than normal disarms?)
(1) GM: (Implying that it takes more effort to get Elorin's bow away from him than it is to get your claws and bite away from you.)
(4) Kibin: (I never said that!!! Tell me where I said that?)
(5) Elorin: (when you say it, "you"=Elorin, etc. and "me"=Kibin)
(4) Kibin: (Yes. And?)
(5) Elorin: (so, "you" are harder to disarm than "me" = disarming Elorin is harder than disarming Kibin)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (...How much sleep did you get last night?)
(4) Kibin: (Yeah.)
(4) Kibin: (Oh. O.o)
(4) Kibin: (Okay, reverse that around. Harder to disarm me than you.)
(5) Elorin: (and the light dawns... :P)
(4) Kibin: (Sorry about that.)
(1) GM: Anyway......
(5) Elorin: (anyway, later in the day, I try scrying again...)
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Greater Scrying ( level 7, "As scrying, but faster and longer." )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 7 Spell ( level 7, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) GM: SR penetration?
(1) GM: Will save: [1d20+16] -> [12,16] = (28)
(5) Elorin: [1d20+17] -> [18,17] = (35)
** (5) Elorin gets nothing **
(5) Elorin: Damn, that bird is good at shrugging off scrying attempts
(4) Kibin: We could just ask someone where this garden is?
(1) GM: Jason: Well, you might not get much anyway; that bird is also pretty good at seeing things - even when invisible - and might just eat the sensor anyway.
(5) Elorin: Yeah, but we'd get enough of a look to teleport, I'd think.
(4) Kibin: How about we try sending him a message?
(1) GM: Kaylin: Ah, that's a good idea; care to compose something of 25 words?
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Hi, can we borrow, beg or buy a feather?"
(4) Kibin: We can't buy it.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Hi, can we barter for a feather? Any quests you need doing?"
(1) GM: Jason: Besides - what need does something that grows gold need of money?
(4) Kibin: Wouldn't that be considered buying?
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "The quest option is still viable."
(4) Kibin: (And I'm hoping it's just a quick teleport there, get feather, teleport out, get a cow, go back to finish quest thingie.)
** (5) Elorin starts muttering and counting **
(4) Kibin: "Hello, we are the adventurers that freed you from the cave. Might we have another of the gold feathers for a quest?"
(5) Elorin: No need to introduce ourselves, the spell automatically lets him know who we are.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Hmmm... 22 words.....
(4) Kibin: Okay then...
(4) Kibin: "Might we borrow another one of your gold feathers? We need it for a quest, and cannot buy or steal it."
(4) Kibin: Or have. Since I don't know what it's for.
(1) GM: Kaylin: At 21 words, that's a possibility.
(1) GM: Jason: We probably need to tell it how to find us.....
(4) Kibin: "Stay posted for information."
(5) Elorin: Or mention that we could come to it if only it would allow us to scry
(5) Elorin: But then, it probably wouldn't trust us enough to let its guard down
(5) Elorin: We had enough trouble convincing it to accept the polymorph
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "I suppose that when you are made of gold, paranio isn't, really."
(5) Elorin: Hmm, multiple Sendings in sequence...
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (I think I misspelled that)
(4) Kibin: Or... Just ask for directions???
(1) GM: Kaylin: The response is limited to 25 words or less, as is the original message.
(4) Kibin: Ooo, there's a response?
(1) GM: Kaylin: Yep; unfortunately, he won't have the same amount of time to compose a response as we do a message.....
(1) GM: Kaylin: As he must respond immediately.
(4) Kibin: I was thinking of instructions from someone else.
(4) Kibin: (*wonders if word count would be different in draconic or elven.*)
(1) GM: (Not for game purposes, no)
(5) Elorin: (technically, almost certainly, but that would be an incredible pain to adjudicate)
(1) GM: (Also - does the Eagle know Draconic or Elven? The spell doesn't trancend language barriers.....)
(4) Kibin: (True.)
(4) Kibin: Uh, okay...
(4) Kibin: So do we do the multiple sending thingie?
(4) Kibin: Get instructions from somewhere here to teleport over to him?
(1) GM: (Ah, strike that - it does; a critter with even an Int of 1 - no language at all - can understand and even reply)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Could, but I only prepared the one; and an adequeate description of a location usually takes more than just 25 words.
(4) Kibin: I don't mind waiting.
(5) Elorin: (Hmm, how to make someone think he's insane, get a sorcerer he doesn't know to cast Sending as many times per day as possible :P)
(5) Elorin: (or, better yet, several high level sorcs)
(1) GM: (Check out Demand sometime.....)
(4) Kibin: I don't think I'm going to die of old age any time soon...
(5) Elorin: (lol)
(1) GM: Jason: Why do you think your adoptive mother wasn't in any hurry?
(4) Kibin: Hmmmm.
(5) Elorin: (long-distance telepathic Suggestion)
(5) Elorin: (too bad it's level 8)
(4) Kibin: Still don't see how they avoid being bored, though...
(1) GM: Jason: Same way I do. They don't.
(1) GM: Jason: Over a thousand years, one learns to accept life's little boredoms.
(5) Elorin: Or have long mostly meaningless philosophical discussions
(5) Elorin: I believe that's how a fair number of elven wizards pass the time when they're not studying magic
(4) Kibin: Oddly, that seems almost interesting now that I think about it.
(1) GM: Kaylin: So, what message should we try for?
(5) Elorin: With several hundred years to live, you tend to have a lot of spare time scattered through it.
(4) Kibin: I suggested one. Multiple sendings?
(4) Kibin: Or maybe, he knows a bit of magic, and can scry on us...
(5) Elorin: 25 words isn't much. We'll have to be pretty short and blunt unless we use several Sendings.
(1) GM: Kaylin: You suggested a message, yes, but there's little things that would have to be in there - how to find us, or a way for us to find him, for example.
(5) Elorin: And we'll probably have to tell him somewhere to meet us, unless we can figure a way for him to describe the location to us.
(4) Kibin: The old man's cave?
(4) Kibin: We both know where that's at.
(5) Elorin: Would he want to go back there, though?
(4) Kibin: Well, do you have a better suggestion?
(5) Elorin: Not really, no. Unless we go searching for a library to research about the Garden.
(4) Kibin: Ooo, library seems good.
(5) Elorin: I wonder if that elven city nearby has one...
(1) GM: Knowledge: Local Skill Check: [1d20+13] -> [11,13] = (24)
(5) Elorin: Then again, the border guard probably would have directed us to it last time if they did.
(1) GM: Kaylin: No, a little too small to have a readily accessable library, although I do believe there are a handful of book collectors....
(4) Kibin: Uh. Convince one of them to let us read a few of the books?
(5) Elorin: How likely is it that one of these collectors would have something on this specific subject, though?
(1) GM: Kaylin: Well, we're looking for maps, right?
(5) Elorin: Preferably with good depictions of some of the locations to go with them
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "I would recommend we contact him anyway - He is likely to respond badly if we show up without sending word ahead."
(5) Elorin: Oh, certainly, but it would be nice to have a nearby meeting place to propose first.
(5) Elorin: I don't suppose the library at your old university is likely to still be in good shape, Kaylin?
(5) Elorin: What with the student body and all the faculty dead...
(4) Kibin: Um. Didn't we forget about that prince?
(5) Elorin: Ah yes, he was going to visit there.
(1) GM: Kaylin: That is an idea... hard to say if it's been disturbed any further, as we did re-kill all the zombies that were walking around.....
(5) Elorin: Got a teleport ready, or do we wait for tomorrow?
(1) GM: Kaylin: Always. Ready to go?
(4) Kibin: Nothing else that I need to do here, so why not?
** (4) Kibin gathers around Kaylin. **
(1) GM: Kaylin: Are you coming this time, Rylrr? There's probably some good details on assorted plants in the library.
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot gathers round. **
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: * By this time, /me has a lot of round.
** (5) Elorin gathers round **
(7) Rilyrr: Sure, so long as I dont have to leave the library
(4) Kibin: (Huh?)
** (7) Rilyrr gathers round **
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Gathering round)
(1) GM: (Bad Pun)
(1) GM: (After everyone is in proper contact....)
Kaylin casts Teleport ( level 5, "Instantly transports you anywhere." )
Kaylin can cast Teleport 1 more time
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [70] = (70)
(5) Elorin: (I imagine this one qualifies as "very familiar")
(1) GM: The teleport goes off without a hitch.
(1) GM: And everyone finds themselves in the library; seems someone has gone to a little effort to put books back on shelves, but there is still quite a lot of work to do.
(4) Kibin: Hmmm.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Let's see....
** (4) Kibin goes to peek outside. **
(1) GM: Knowledge: Geography Skill Check: [1d20+13] -> [6,13] = (19)
(5) Elorin: Looks like someone came along who wasn't interested in looting, but hasn't had a whole lot of time or manpower.
** (7) Rilyrr picks a book up off ground and starts reading **
whispering to Kibin, There seems to be a bit of a cleanup effort going on - the rubble from the burned building is getting hauled away, and a few broken windows have been replaced.
** (4) Kibin wanders all of the way outside while Kaylin is looking in the library. **
whispering to Rilyrr, The dietary habits of the Mountainous Goldfinch.
** (5) Elorin starts looking for an atlas **
(5) Elorin: Search Skill Check: [1d20+2] -> [17,2] = (19)
(4) Kibin (whispering): I go see who's working on fixing everything, then.
whispering to Elorin, You manage to find one, even of the Eastern Continent, that shows the region of Gargantia, but not the specific tree in question.
whispering to Kibin, Seems to be a few older gentlemen in scholar's outfits directing some younger people. Not particularly many on the project, but they seem rather... determined.
** (5) Elorin looks through an atlas, searching for an easily recognizable landmark with an illustration **
** (4) Kibin comes back into the library. **
(1) GM: Search Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [11,10] = (21)
** (4) Kibin searches for a book about the place that the eagle is at. **
(1) GM: After a bit of looking, Kaylin says: "This should do....", while holding up an illustration of a park-like garden.
(5) Elorin: Ah, good.
(1) GM: Kaylin: I think I've got what I'm looking for; everyone ready to go?
(4) Kibin: [1d20+19] -> [10,19] = (29)
** (4) Kibin would be looking through books when Kaylin says that. "Sure." **
(1) GM: Kaylin: Well, let's all form a circle, then.....
** (4) Kibin forms a circle then, around Kaylin. **
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Sure."
** (7) Rilyrr puts 4 random books in his bag before joining the circle **
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot circles, using some rounds. **
(5) Elorin: No Sending to let him know we're coming? Or do you think that's unnecessary?
(1) GM: Kaylin: Ah, right....
(1) GM: Kaylin: How does.... "We would like to chat for a time; we're on a bit of a quest, and could use your help. We'll be by soon."
(5) Elorin: That works.
(5) Elorin: I was trying to fit the feather in, but I guess it's not really necessary.
(4) Kibin: Yup.
Kaylin casts Sending ( level 5, "Delivers short message anywhere, instantly." )
Kaylin can cast Sending 0 more times
(1) GM: Kaylin: Well, that spell is cast, now for the other....
Kaylin casts Greater Teleport ( level 7, "Teleports without error." )
Kaylin can cast Greater Teleport 0 more times
(1) GM: And everyone finds themselves in a nice, park-like setting. There are apples on the tree branch overhead.
(1) GM: Make a spot check.
** (4) Kibin blinks the pretty teleportation sparkles from his eyes. **
(7) Rilyrr: Survival Skill Check: [1d20+27] -> [10,27] = (37)
(7) Rilyrr: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+27] -> [18,27] = (45)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+13] -> [5,13] = (18)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Wis, right?)
(5) Elorin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [3,10] = (13)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20] -> [1] = (1)
whispering to Rilyrr, Those are good apples, but very, very large; the distance makes perspective a bit of an issue, but you do belive those apples are, individually, larger thatn you are....
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot wonders where the ground has gone. **
(4) Kibin: (Uh... Where'd everyone go?)
(4) Kibin: (Only belkar could make a worse roll than that. :P)
(4) Kibin: (Ah well. Everyone needs a dump stat.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (No...Belkar has always shown an innate sense of where the ground is)
(4) Kibin: (That explains the handstand on a dragon that pulled out a beholders brain the day before. :D)
(5) Elorin: (technically, the analyzing stats thread has pegged Belkar's wisdom at 10, but that assumes no bending of the rules for what is required to use a scroll)
(4) Kibin: (He has a wisdom score reserved for lemmings. Is that enough for you?_
(7) Rilyrr: Anybody see the eagle?
(1) GM: One large tree dominates the horizon, a fair distance away.
** (4) Kibin flies over to the giant tree that dominates the horizon. **
(5) Elorin: Well, the Discern Location specified "largest tree", so, I'd guess that way
** (5) Elorin points **
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot jogs. **
** (5) Elorin heads over to the tree **
whispering to Kibin, Eldon Quickfoot, You start to, anyway. After quite a fair length of time, it doesn't seem any closer.
** (4) Kibin flies back to the group, and does a circle around them. Weeeeeee. **
** (4) Kibin does several circles. Showoff. **
(1) GM: Spot checks?
(5) Elorin: He's not going to recognize you in that form, Kibin.
(5) Elorin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [18,10] = (28)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+13] -> [19,13] = (32)
(7) Rilyrr: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+27] -> [14,27] = (41)
(4) Kibin: Well, unless any of you have any extra clothes, it'll have to do.
whispering to Rilyrr, The tree is actually about ten miles away.... it's huge.
whispering to GM, [5+1d10] -> [5,5] = (10)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: I don't think it's getting closer.
whispering to GM, [2+1d18] -> [2,3] = (5)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20] -> [17] = (17)
(7) Rilyrr: (can I identify what type of tree it is?)
(4) Kibin: (*wonders what happened to the cold weather outfit he was wearing when he had the great warping on him.)
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot finds the ground, which explains what he had been jogging on **
whispering to Elorin, Seems about five miles away.
whispering to Kibin, Seems about ten miles away.
(1) GM: Knoweledge(nature)?
(7) Rilyrr: Knowledge: Nature Skill Check: [1d20+22] -> [15,22] = (37)
(4) Kibin: (Really, what happened to it?)
(5) Elorin: Wow, that's a big tree. It's going to take near two hours of walking to get there.
(4) Kibin: Well, when I flew there, it didn't seem to be getting any closer...
whispering to Rilyrr, Seems to be what's called a "Mother Oak", an odd kind of tree that grows a seed of it's own type only once a millenia, but scatters seeds of just about every other plant type regularly. Very long lived; this one is at least 10,000 years old.
(5) Elorin: Oh well, I'm enjoying the scenery
** (4) Kibin flies circles around the group some more. Weeeeeeee! **
(5) Elorin: Not every day I get to walk in a park
(7) Rilyrr: Well lets get started, this might take awhile.
(1) GM: (the cold weather gear merged - if you ever manage to drop the spell, you'll be wearing it again.)
(5) Elorin: We've got time.
** (5) Elorin was walking during the previous statements **
(4) Kibin: (Well, it could explain where the shell comes from.)
(1) GM: So, everyone begins walking towards the tree? Who's got the slowest speed?
(4) Kibin: (So if it drops, I get a torn apart cold weather outfit, and no clothes on. O.o)
(7) Rilyrr: (probably me at 30)
(5) Elorin: (I think Eldon's probably slowest, at 20 for being a halfling)
(4) Kibin: (I could fly around with him, you know. :)
(4) Kibin: (HALFLING DIVE BOMB! :D)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Boots of walk faster - 30)
(5) Elorin: Hmm, Kaylin got any idea what the eagle would expect from "soon"?
(5) Elorin: (ah)
(1) GM: Let's see.... [1d100] -> [54] = (54)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (That's so crazy - It just might work! :D )
(4) Kibin: (Hehe.)
(5) Elorin: Should I speed things up with Wind Walk just so it won't get impatient?
(4) Kibin: Aw. But I like stretching my wings.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Good question; I do belive he's of a rather long-lived folk, and most people walk long distances anyway. But it is a good idea.
(1) GM: As you're discussing the possiblity, a lumbering block of mobile stone, 18 feet tall, looks at you like you don't belong.....
(1) GM: Roll for initiative.
(1) GM: [1d20-2] -> [17,-2] = (15)
(4) Kibin: Uh. Hi there?
(5) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [11,6] = (17)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+2] -> [3,2] = (5)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [8,4] = (12)
** (4) Kibin does a mental "Doh!". Forgot to get gloves modified. **
(7) Rilyrr: [1d20+6] -> [4,6] = (10)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+2] -> [17,2] = (19)
(5) Elorin: (this probably is state-owned land and we really don't belong, so...)
(4) Kibin: (Can I assume I'm hovering?)
(1) GM: Eldon, Elorin, Stone Block, Jason, Rilyrr, Kibin
(1) GM: (Yes, you may.)
(5) Elorin: (Kaylin?)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+2] -> [7,2] = (9)
(1) GM: Right: Eldon, Elorin, Stone Block, Jason, Rilyrr, Kaylin, Kibin
(1) GM: Eldon?
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Hello?"
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Does it look sentient?)
(1) GM: Knoweledge(Arcana) check?
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Nope)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+5] -> [18,5] = (23)
(4) Kibin: (I'd like to know.)
(1) GM: Over DC 10; got ranks?
(5) Elorin: (speaking is a free action that can be taken out of turn, you know...)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Sense motive?)
(4) Kibin: (Yes, I have ranks.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (If it's not sentient, I wouldn't sense a motive)
(4) Kibin: (Kibin now knows the difference between a she dragon and a he dragon. :P)
whispering to Kibin, You don't know what it is.
whispering to Kibin, Missed the minimal DC by 1, sorry.
(5) Elorin: Doesn't look like it can reach very high. Wind Walk up a bit?
(4) Kibin (whispering): Dang it.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "That might work."
(1) GM: The big block of stone doesn't respond to any statements made.
(1) GM: Knowledge: Arcana Skill Check: [1d20+26] -> [14,26] = (40)
(1) GM: Knowledge: Arcana Skill Check: [1d20+17] -> [11,17] = (28)
(5) Elorin: (so, Kaylin's and Jason's verdicts?)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Seems to be a stone golem of some stripe... probably not intelligent.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Are we avoiding or fighting?"
(1) GM: Kaylin: Although I'm not familiar with this particular stripe....
(5) Elorin: No need to destroy it, I'd say avoid if we can.
(4) Kibin: Avoiding is good. No squishy parts for me to stab.
(5) Elorin: Besides, I had enough of being punished for destroyed someone elses property without sufficient cause a while back.
(4) Kibin: (Okay. Avoid being squished now, please?)
(1) GM: Eldon - taking any actions?
(5) Elorin: (delay until I cast?)
(4) Kibin: (*wonders what the rule is on being hit in midair.*)
(1) GM: (As long as you don't go unconscious.....)
(1) GM: (Or similar.....)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Nope)
(1) GM: Elorin?
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Wind Walk ( level 6, "You and your allies turn vaporous and travel fast" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
** (5) Elorin moves 300 feet straight up after turning everyone gaseous **
(1) GM: Full-round action to touch everyone that's readily touchable.
** (5) Elorin stays put, then **
(4) Kibin: (Which means no windwalk for me. :P
(5) Elorin: (you can fly anyway, so it doesn't matter)
(1) GM: You don't really need it - Golem's turn.....
(1) GM: [1d6] -> [3] = (3)
(4) Kibin: (Heh, yeah. Hustling, I can go as fast as the people with windwalk.)
(1) GM: The thing charges Kibin, and tries for a slam at the aerial opponent - but first, Kibin, make a Will save.
(4) Kibin: [1d20+13] -> [17,13] = (30)
(4) Kibin: (WOOT!)
(4) Kibin: (What was it for?)
(1) GM: DC 31. You're slowed.
(4) Kibin: (Gah. Wha?)
(1) GM: For 7 rounds. It's one of the critter's abilities, and is a free action. Move or standard each round, but not both, no full-round actions; -1 to AC, attack rolls, and Reflex saves; move at half speed, round down.
(4) Kibin: (Meh. How was I supposed to save against that. :P)
(1) GM: With an 18, of course.
(1) GM: Slam: [1d20+42] -> [6,42] = (48) for [4d8+13] -> [8,1,8,8,13] = (38)
(4) Kibin: (Okay. How was I supposed to have a halfway DECENT chance of saving against it?)
(4) Kibin: (Owie.)
(5) Elorin: (so you can only move 50 feet per round for 7 rounds, who cares?)
(1) GM: If you get over 30 feet above the ground, it can't touch you.
(4) Kibin: (Hmmmm.)
(5) Elorin: (Heroes' Feast hp: [1d8+10] -> [2,10] = (12))
(4) Kibin: (Is canceling hover a free action?)
(1) GM: Jason: Anyone care to hide?
(1) GM: Invisibility Sphere, Level 3: Makes everyone within 10 ft. invisible
(1) GM: Jason makes everyone in range invisible.
(4) Kibin: (I'm what, about 10 feet above the ground?)
(1) GM: Which is pretty much everyone.
(1) GM: (Cancelling hover is a non-action taken as part of a Move action)
(1) GM: (on the spot ruling)
(4) Kibin: (So I can fly 25 feet upward?)
(1) GM: Rilyrr?
(4) Kibin: (Thus 35 feet above the ground, and untouchable. Ooo.)
(5) Elorin: (average maneuverability, max upward angle of 60 degrees)
** (7) Rilyrr waits to see what happens **
(1) GM: (Kibin: You could. Of course, that means leaving the golem's threatened area first.....)
(5) Elorin: (and your speed gets cut in half again for moving up)
(1) GM: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+32] -> [15,32] = (47)
(5) Elorin: (oh, right, Withdraw is full-round)
Kaylin casts Haste ( level 3, "One creature/level moves faster, +1 on attack rolls, AC, and Reflex saves." )
Kaylin can cast Haste 0 more times
(5) Elorin: (you can take one more hit, though, right?)
(1) GM: And the Slow on Kibin vanishes.....
(4) Kibin: (I could withdraw, silly.)
(5) Elorin: (sorry, but either she can't cast or she's not gaseous)
(1) GM: Ah, good point..... drat.....
(4) Kibin: (Do you want us to die? :P)
(1) GM: Let's see... let me look up Wind Walk and Gaseous Form, to see if they start you that way....
(4) Kibin: (Yeah, they do.)
(5) Elorin: (you have the hp to take one more hit, and I believe you have enough movement to get above its reach even slowed with one move action)
(4) Kibin: (And it doesn't really matter, because I can do a 25 feet withdraw upward.)
(1) GM: Nope, just forces it; you're right, she can't cast. Pity. She delays instead, then.
(1) GM: Kibin? You're turn, still slowed. Round 1 of 7 on Slow.
** (4) Kibin withdraws upward, out of reach of the golem. **
(1) GM: Oh, and a Withdrawl is a Full-Round action - can't.
(4) Kibin: (I get one standard action, right?)
(4) Kibin: (That means I can do a widthdraw of up to my speed.)
(5) Elorin: (speed 50. Moving straight up at half speed from Hover is 25. Plus starting height of 10 is out of reach. You have to take an AoO, but you can survive it and won't be hit again)
(4) Kibin: (Or, I could just withdraw. Like it says I can. Right here in the SRD.)
(5) Elorin: (withdraw is a full-round action)
(4) Kibin: (Look below, at the restricted withdraw already!)
(4) Kibin: (Withdraw can also be a standard action!)
(5) Elorin: (oh, right)
(1) GM: (True, although with it's 15 foot reach, it's only the starting square that isn't treated as threatened.....)
(5) Elorin: (in that case, move 5 feet sideways to get out of reach, then up)
(4) Kibin: (Yes. But it's not strategically sound to go all the way up.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Who decided that juice boxes with more than one fruit is a good idea?)
(4) Kibin: (If it's at 15 feet from me, I can't reach attack distance with a 5 foot step.)
(5) Elorin: (you mean blends? no clue)
(7) Rilyrr: (that was me, sorry)
(1) GM: AoO: Slam: [1d20+42] -> [10,42] = (52) for [4d8+13] -> [7,1,5,5,13] = (31)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (/me whaps Rilyrr)
(4) Kibin: (More pain...)
(1) GM: Eldon?
(1) GM: Your turn, currently invisible.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Is Kibin out of range?)
(5) Elorin: (Wait, was Kibin in the Invis sphere?)
(4) Kibin: (I was.)
(4) Kibin: (Not any more. Me floaty above reach now.)
(5) Elorin: (if so, either this thing can see invis or no AoO)
** (4) Kibin winces again as the thing hits him. Pain... **
(1) GM: At 10 feet above ground, and a bit off to the side from Jason, he wouldn't have been, no, as Jason would have to center it on himself, and it's only a 10 foot radius.
(5) Elorin: (Jason could have moved first, though)
** (4) Kibin is now above it's reach, though. Yay! **
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ready action to attack if it attacks anyone inside the invisibility sphere)
(5) Elorin: (you're gaseous)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Oh)
(4) Kibin: (Yeah. :P)
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot floaty's. **
(4) Kibin: (Impossible to attack.)
(5) Elorin: (along with the rest of the party except Kibin and Jason)
(5) Elorin: (so just get out of reach)
(5) Elorin: (and let's continue on our way)
(4) Kibin: (EVeryone in the party can withstand one of them. Except Jason's familar. :(
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot gets out of reach. **
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (I thought the person who cast the wind walk controls where we go?)
(1) GM: Which, incidentally, puts him outside the invisilibity sphere.....
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Not if we assume we all move at once - a round is supposed to be simultaneous...)
(1) GM: (No, it's independant. The caster can cancel it, individually, at pretty much any time, though, so you don't really want to annoy him while flying....)
(5) Elorin: (Kibin, you're at 25 hp by my count)
(4) Kibin: (Okay, it already took AoO.)
(5) Elorin: (38+31 damage and 12 temporary hp)
(4) Kibin: (Not by my count...)
(4) Kibin: (It was 48, I though?)
(5) Elorin: ([82+12-38-31] -> 25)
(5) Elorin: (no, 38)
(1) GM: [31+38] -> 69
(4) Kibin: (Ah, ooops.
(1) GM: Elorin?
** (5) Elorin shoots straight up **
(5) Elorin: (shoots, as in, move quickly)
(1) GM: using the Gaseous Form 10(perfect), or the Wind Walk 500 (poor)?
(4) Kibin: (Everyone should be able to escape.)
(4) Kibin: (Eldon, Elorin, and the other people.)
(4) Kibin: (It's 600 feet, btw.)
(1) GM: (Still......)
(4) Kibin: (And HA!
(4) Kibin: (YOU CAN CHOOSE HOW FAST YOU GO WITH FASTER WIND!)
(4) Kibin: (See. Says so in the description.)
(4) Kibin: ('up to 600 feet per round')
(5) Elorin: (hmm, poor can't go straight up. All right, back away horizontally through the invis sphere until I'm out of reach, then as close to straight up as I can)
(4) Kibin: (Just go back.)
(4) Kibin: (THEN up.)
(1) GM: (at that rate, a 45 degree angle still puts you way, way up....)
(4) Kibin: (What he said.)
(1) GM: What color is everyone dressed in?
(4) Kibin: (What color is my cloak? White?)
(7) Rilyrr: (green)
(1) GM: Unspecified; pick one and stick with it.
(4) Kibin: (Cloak, bracer, and gloves are about the only clothing I have on, and no clue what color they are.)
(4) Kibin: (Silver! :)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Courtier's clothes coloured)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (I dunno.)
(4) Kibin: (Since I am a silver dragon, after all. Silver goes good with silver.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Probably colourfull)
(1) GM: (So a little on the guady side, then.)
(1) GM: And kaylin wears a White robe....
(1) GM: Jason's grey.....
(4) Kibin: (I'm not that much on the gaudy side. :(
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Just don't fly into a cloud. You'll never find yourself again. :D )
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eldon is)
(4) Kibin: (Hehe.)
(4) Kibin: (Clouds are fun. I can walk on them!)
(1) GM: Elorin - Color?
(4) Kibin: (*needs a place where that's useful, now.*_
(5) Elorin: (green and brown)
(4) Kibin: (I can also walk on steam, and fog.)
(1) GM: [1d2] -> [2] = (2)
(4) Kibin: (Please be good roll.)
** (5) Elorin is above Kibin **
(1) GM: The golem tries to chase directly after the retreating green and brown blob - but doesn't get very far, a mere 40 feet with a double move..
(5) Elorin: (but only 30 feet or so)
** (5) Elorin went in a circle to get there **
** (5) Elorin a large circle **
(1) GM: Jason casts a spell.....
(4) Kibin: (Ew. Green and brown don't go together.)
(5) Elorin: (foresty colors, then)
(1) GM: See Invisibility, Level 2: Personal; can see invisible and etherial things for 10 minutes/level
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Tell that to a tree...)
(4) Kibin: (Now, foresty green and brown, that's good too.)
(1) GM: Then waits.
(1) GM: Rilyrr?
(4) Kibin: (Just not puke green and puke brown.)
** (7) Rilyrr starts flying towards the Big Tree **
(1) GM: Kaylin follows suit....
(4) Kibin: (Out of combat time now?)
(1) GM: Kibin?
(1) GM: (Not until Jason sees everyone is safely out of range, and moves himself.)
** (4) Kibin wobbles a bit higher above the golem. Pain... **
(5) Elorin: (we get xp for overcoming this "obstacle", right?)
(1) GM: (round 2 of 7 on Slow)
(5) Elorin: (:P)
(1) GM: Eldon?
(4) Kibin: (Yes, XP would be nice.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Heading for tree)
(1) GM: Elorin?
(7) Rilyrr: (you people are too fixated, would you have played it any differantly if you knew you wouldn't get xp this way?)
(4) Kibin: (Not really.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Don't think so)
(7) Rilyrr: (then why worry about it?)
** (5) Elorin heads for tree **
(4) Kibin: (I mean, this golem will only miss me on a natural one.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Because getting XP is nice)
(4) Kibin: (And I don't have damage resistance.)
(1) GM: The stone golem, not seeing anything in reach, wanders off, being careful not to damage the foilage or the rabbit that was almost underfoot.
(1) GM: Jason starts running towards the tree as well.
** (5) Elorin slows down so Jason can keep up **
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot slows down and tries to keep the party connected. **
(1) GM: Jason pauses for a bit, then casts a spell and mounts the horse...
(1) GM: Shadow Conjouration, Level 4: Mimics conjuration below 4th level, but only 20% real
** (4) Kibin hustles to get to the tree, a little slow at first. **
(1) GM: And then he can keep up reasonably well, keeping the phantom steed at a hustle.
(4) Kibin: (150 till slow wears off, and then 300.)
** (7) Rilyrr flies toward the tree unaware of where everyone else is **
(5) Elorin: (we're not invisible, just cloudy looking)
(4) Kibin: (If hustle is half running half walking.)
(5) Elorin: (and not all that cloudy considering we're not white)
(1) GM: Invisibility sphere wears off after you leave the target's range. Jason's invisible, but his new horse isn't.
(4) Kibin: (Me white! :)
(4) Kibin: (Invisibility spells for ghosts are kind of pointless.)
(7) Rilyrr: (uncaring where everyone else is, I want to examine that tree)
(1) GM: After about ten minutes of Wind Walk flight, you finally reach the thing. Up close, it's nearly a mile tall....
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Just how much is 5/- damage reduction worth at level 20, anyway?)
(5) Elorin: (not a whole lot)
(4) Kibin: (You mean me hustling flight. About half as slow as windwalk.)
(1) GM: Kibin took two attacks at about 35 damage each. A third would have put him into the negatives. With DR 5/-, he would still be moving after a third blow, but the fourth would have killed him outright.
(4) Kibin: (*is moving at a speed of 30 miles an hour. Weeeeeee!*)
** (7) Rilyrr falls alseep at the base of the tree **
(7) Rilyrr: (AFK for a while)
(1) GM: After a few minutes, everyone reaches the base fo the tree.
(4) Kibin: (Hmmm, anyone else see a problem with sleeping on the ground? O.o)
(1) GM: (AFK? Not one I'm familiar with.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Asleep on the ground?)
** (5) Elorin lands and solidifies **
(4) Kibin: (Away From Keyboard.)
(5) Elorin: (AFK= Away From Keyboard)
(5) Elorin: Kibin, come over here and I'll heal that for you
** (4) Kibin tries to land on the ground gracefully, near Elorin. **
(1) GM: Jason stays on his High Horse.
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Serious Wounds ( level 3, "Cures 3d8 damage +1/level (max +15)" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(5) Elorin: [3d8+15] -> [5,2,8,15] = (30)
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Serious Wounds ( level 3, "Cures 3d8 damage +1/level (max +15)" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(5) Elorin: [3d8+15] -> [1,6,3,15] = (25)
(1) GM: 55 brings him up to 80; he's still got a little bit of a bruise.
** (4) Kibin says to Elorin, "Thank you..." **
(1) GM: Kaylin: Oookay, that wasn't mentioned in the brochure.....
** (5) Elorin looks around. He probably lives at the very top **
** (4) Kibin sits down, rubbing his arm with the bruise, and resting a bit after jogging for about 20 minutes... **
(5) Elorin: "He probably lives at the very top"
(5) Elorin: Or at least, nests there
(4) Kibin: Probally...
(1) GM: The lowest branch seems to be about three hundred feet up.
(4) Kibin: Or he might could be on one of those branches.
** (4) Kibin flies up to the lowest branch, seeing if he's there. **
(1) GM: The tree doesn't provide much shade, except right next to it's trunk, as the sun isn't stright up, so the shadow from all the branches is displaced over the forest.
(1) GM: The giant eagle is not, in fact, on the lowest branch.
** (4) Kibin hmmms, and tries to stand on the branch, looking down at the people below him. **
(1) GM: The branch is quite wide, and is very easy to stand on.
(5) Elorin: Well, time to go up, I guess.
** (5) Elorin turns gaseous and starts spiraling upwards around the tree **
(1) GM: The trunk of the tree has what appears to be a spiral path carved into it's very, very thick bark.
(4) Kibin: Hmmm. Who wants to just walk?
(1) GM: Which leads up.
(5) Elorin: Or we could walk
** (5) Elorin lands on the stairs and solidifies **
** (4) Kibin walks up there, waiting occasionally for everyone else to catch up. **
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot walks up the path. **
(4) Kibin: (Dragons are speedy for their size.)
** (5) Elorin walks up **
(1) GM: The carved path is only a slight incline; it's very easily wide enough for a human, but the golem from the forest is unlikely to be able to climb it, due to the cieling height.
(1) GM: After a long while, the path opens up, to what appears to be a large platform supported by the branches.
(1) GM: A house, with smoke coming from the chimney, sits at the center of the platform.
** (4) Kibin blinks, and goes up to the house, knocking. **
(1) GM: You hear a woman's voice from inside. "Who's there?"
** (4) Kibin asks, "Have you seen a giant eagle?" **
(1) GM: Woman: Who wishes to know?
(5) Elorin: Some friends that rescued it from entrapment a little while back.
(1) GM: Woman: It's always good to have names, before letting one person know where another is.
(4) Kibin: My name is Kibin?
(1) GM: Woman: And the other voice I heard?
(5) Elorin: I am Elorin
(5) Elorin: (should we mention the rest of us?)
(1) GM: Woman: Kibin and Elorin?
(1) GM: Woman: Hold up a moment....
(1) GM: Woman: Or rather, for ten.
(1) GM: You hear the sounds of spellcasting...
(5) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [7,19] = (26)
whispering to Kibin, Sending.
(1) GM: After about ten minutes....
(1) GM: Woman: How many of you were there?
(4) Kibin (whispering): Uh. Wrong person?
** (4) Kibin tries to remember. He looks over at Kaylin, who's good at the remembering part. **
whispering to Elorin, Sending.
whispering to Kibin, Yep, sorry.
(5) Elorin: Six
(1) GM: (Let's see... Jason, Kibin, Elorin, Eldon, Kaylin, Rilyrr - 6.)
(5) Elorin: The rest of us are Kaylin, Jason, Eldon, and Rilyrr
(1) GM: Woman: That fits.... you're expected.
(4) Kibin: (Aaron, silly.)
(1) GM: The door opens, revealing a green-haired, seemingly agless elf woman, reasonably beautiful.
(7) Rilyrr (exit): 15:06
(1) GM: (Aaron in a coma)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (?)
(1) GM: Woman: Do come in.
(1) GM: (Player didn't care for my style)
(5) Elorin: Thank you.
** (5) Elorin comes in **
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot comes in. **
(4) Kibin: (And it was an off day.)
(1) GM: Inside, the house is fairly plainly furnished, although there is a rather crowded workbench along the far wall. Quite the nature theme in what little decore and furniture there is, though.
** (4) Kibin comes in as well, looking around. "Is that stone golem yours, by the way?" **
(1) GM: Woman: Call me Ielestrianua; I protect this tree, and it probably was. I keep a couple on patrol to keep the poachers out.
(4) Kibin: Ah, okay.
(1) GM: Woman: You really should have stopped and talked with me before entering the park. I could have easily told you how to avoid them.
(4) Kibin: I don't think any of us know who you are...
(5) Elorin: We had a long distance to go, so we teleported in. Kinda bypassed any warnings or instructions at gates and such.
(5) Elorin: Didn't have much to go on but an illustration in an atlas
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Plus, we did send a message to the giant eagle."
(1) GM: Ielestrianua: Ah, so you just popped in inside the fence. That explains how you missed the gate. Of course the eagle wouldn't know about the golems' purpose; they can't bother him.
(4) Kibin: And it can't bother me much, either.
(5) Elorin: Oh well, we avoided it well enough
(4) Kibin: Unless I go down to the ground, then.
(5) Elorin: Kibin got bruised a bit, but nothing I could fix easily.
(1) GM: Ielestrianua: Which is also where most the poachers look for their goal.
(5) Elorin: (*couldn't)
(1) GM: Ielestrianua: I can wander the grounds freely, but other's are well suited to staying away.
(1) GM: Ielestrianua walks over to a stove, and pours some hot water into a pot.
(1) GM: Ielestrianua: Care for a cup of tea?
(5) Elorin: Sure
(1) GM: Ielestrianua pours some tea into small teacups, and hands them out.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: Sure.
** (5) Elorin thanks her **
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: Thanks.
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot sips the tea. **
** (4) Kibin tries sipping the tea too. **
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, It's quite tasty.
(1) GM: Knowledge: Nature Skill Check: [1d20+13] -> [7,13] = (20)
(1) GM: Anyone else have knoweledge(Nature)?
(4) Kibin: [1d20+5] -> [20,5] = (25)
(4) Kibin: (*whistles*)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Quiet tasty. What kind of tea is it?"
(5) Elorin: (what, did you take 1 or 2 ranks in all the knowledge skills just so you could make trained checks with them?)
whispering to Kibin, Before you take a sip, you note the scent - a common herb, often used in a form of tea for putting people to sleep.
(1) GM: Eldon, Elorin - make a Fort save.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Huh. Aren't I immune to that?
(5) Elorin: Fortitude save: [1d20+18] -> [7,18] = (25)
(5) Elorin: (if it's any sort of poison, we're immune)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+13] -> [9,13] = (22)
whispering to Kibin, Yep.
(1) GM: The tea is quite delisious.
** (4) Kibin stops trying to take a sip, and hmming. "Uh, is there a reason you're trying to put us to sleep?" **
(4) Kibin: (Hehe.)
(4) Kibin: (And if I did? :)
(10) Rilyrr (enter): 15:21
(4) Kibin: (Just really tired of not having any knowledge skills.)
(4) Kibin: (A trained skillcheck of 1 is better than an untrained skillcheck of 8 or so. :)
(4) Kibin: (For most purposes, anyway.)
(10) Rilyrr: (where are we, I seem to have lost connectivity and missed stuff)
(4) Kibin: (Also, this way I know if targets are squishy or not.)
(1) GM: Ielestrianua: Oh, I just don't really trust those who don't come in by the front door, is all. Tasty though, isn't it?
(1) GM: She takes a sip of the tea she poured, out of the same pot, for herself.
** (4) Kibin drinks the tea. "I guess so." **
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "But in tea?"
(4) Kibin: It's a common herb that's used in a form of tea for putting people to sleep...
(1) GM: Climbed the tree by a path carved into the very thick bark, found a house, got inside, speaking with an elven lady named Ielestrianua; just discovered the tea is a sleep agent, rendered utterly harmless by Hero's Feast.
** (10) Rilyrr wakes up and begins climbing the tree **
(4) Kibin: And, I don't really have to worry about it anyway...
(1) GM: Ielestrianua: Tea is one of the simplest ways to deliver it. Besides; it's always good to be a good hostess, no?
(5) Elorin: Yes, it's very good tea, but I'm afraid such things as sleep potions don't usually work on me.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Well, I suppose that isn't too bad..."
** (5) Elorin drains the cup **
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot puts the tea down. **
** (4) Kibin finishes the tea, as well. **
(1) GM: Ielestrianua: So, what did you want from this eagle aquaintence of yours?
(4) Kibin: One golden feather?
(5) Elorin: We've been given a quest to gather a small assortment of items for an adoption ceremony of some sort, and one of them is a golden feather
(1) GM: Ielestrianua looks a bit suspicious: Ah. I see......
(4) Kibin: And we can't buy or steal the feather.
(5) Elorin: Yes, otherwise we'd be trying to buy back the one he gave us for getting him out of that cave.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "So perhaps a quest?"
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Poachers that have been a particular nuisense?"
(4) Kibin: Wouldn't those stone golems be enough of a deterent to poachers?
(4) Kibin: Sure were a deterrent to me staying on the ground...
(5) Elorin: Most poachers, I imagine so, but it's not beyond possibility that a poacher or group could be able to deal with them.
(1) GM: Ielestrianua: There's lots of rare plants hereabout that can't be found elsewhere, at all, even the nearly extinct Tiger Lilly, once common, but mostly eliminated after the fall.
(4) Kibin: I think you just made our ghost very unhappy...
(5) Elorin: I think Jason will want to have a little chat with you about that one...
(1) GM: Bluff Skill Check: [1d20+26] -> [17,26] = (43)
(4) Kibin: (What was that for? O.o(
(1) GM: Jason doesn't react to the statement at all.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh? How does that particular plant survive in this area?
(1) GM: Ielestrianua: Same way most of them do; this tree you're standing on bears seeds for pretty much every plant there is. It scatters Tiger Lilly with the rest.
(1) GM: Jason: I see.
(1) GM: Jason: And you guard this tree?
(4) Kibin: Anyway...
(4) Kibin: About seeing the giant eagle?
(1) GM: Just then, the house dips slightly.
(1) GM: Ielestrianua: I imagine that would be him.
** (4) Kibin goes outside, then. And leaves Jason and Lelestrianua alone. **
** (5) Elorin goes with Kibin to talk with the eagle **
(1) GM: Eagle: Who's the dragon?
(4) Kibin: I was the human with draconic markings.
(5) Elorin: The one we demonstrated Polymorph on
(1) GM: Eagle: Ah. Of course. Still demonstrating, I see. Different form, though.
(1) GM: Eagle: So, what was it you wished to discuss?
(4) Kibin: It's not a demonstration, this is just more of a permantent polymorph effect.
(1) GM: Aftera while, Rilyrr reaches the platform and house.
(5) Elorin: This time, the "demonstration" is rather more permanent, and some silver dragons we talked to want to go through some ceremony to adopt him into their clan
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "So, what would you need Tiger Lilly for?"
(5) Elorin: Apparently this ritual requires three items, one of which is a golden feather
(4) Kibin: And the items cannot be bought or stolen.
(5) Elorin: I'm afraid a feather of solid gold is a bit awkward to carry around while adventuring, so we sold it for more useful things before we learned of this ceremony.
(1) GM: Ielestrianua: Not sure; I'm not old enough to remember personally, but the stories say it was a cursed plant, and brought about the downfall of the old empire. Of course, stories also speak of a Demon the size of this tree, and a dragon that killed it, so....
(4) Kibin: (Ooo. Hard blow for Jason's pride.)
(5) Elorin: And we're not allowed to buy it back, even if it's still intact.
(1) GM: Ielestrianua: Although I can't seem to find any evil on the plant, myself. A little useful as a fortifying agent when casting a small handful of spells, but not really all that important.
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot takes Jason aside for a quick conference. **
(4) Kibin: So, we came here to ask for another feather.
(1) GM: Eagle: Ah, a quest. Grand tradition, that. Still though... do you have any idea how long it takes these things to grow?
(4) Kibin: (Do I know?)
(5) Elorin: Well, no. Kaylin might...
** (5) Elorin looks at Kaylin and raises an eyebrow **
(1) GM: (Can you make a DC 35 Knoweledge(the Planes) check?)
(4) Kibin: (Ah, no.)
(1) GM: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [10,16] = (26)
(4) Kibin: Not really.
(1) GM: Eagle: A very long time. Several centuries. I part with them only for things that are very important.
(4) Kibin: Ah.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Jason: What to do, what to do.....
(5) Elorin: I see. I don't suppose you have a sufficiently important task for us to do?
(1) GM: Eagle: Do you know where home is?
(4) Kibin: (I don't want more quests, I want to finish the one I have first. :(
(5) Elorin: And a feather currently finished growing, of course.
(5) Elorin: I'm not sure what you mean.
(4) Kibin: (*must complete it today!*)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot (whispering): Well, you could simply ask if it would be alright if you found say, a spell that would permanently remove 'Tiger Lilly' from the list of seeds the tree sows...You need not give her full details.
(1) GM: Eagle: I was Called here. I never had to consider the name of where I was from. This.... isn't home. It's closer; this tree is like one from home, but I miss my mate.....
(1) GM: Eagle: ... and I can't get back.... I've traded one cage for another.
(5) Elorin: A place where all trees are this big?
(4) Kibin: Kaylin, don't you have a spell that can shift planes?
(1) GM: Kaylin: Yes, but I need the appropriet focus.
(4) Kibin: Which is...
(1) GM: Eagle: All? No. Quite a few, though.
(5) Elorin: (technically it doesn't have a listed cost so she should just be assumed to have it in her component pouch, but that wouldn't make for a very good quest)
(4) Kibin: (What is with you and quests! :P)
(5) Elorin: (well, if you really want to just get the feather for next to no effort...)
(1) GM: Kaylin: A small, forked metal rod, of the appropriate shape and composition for the specific plane. I've got the standards.... but there are lots of planes, and the less common ones aren't easily found.
(4) Kibin: (That would be nice. I want to know what this ritual is.)
(4) Kibin: What do you need for his home plane?
(1) GM: Kaylin: To figure out which one it is, first and foremost.
(4) Kibin: Ah.
(4) Kibin: Well, there were some people back at the university...
(1) GM: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [9,16] = (25)
(4) Kibin: Or the eagle might know.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Well, there's always a Dismissal ...
(4) Kibin: Hmmmm.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Do you really think she would permit such tampering?
(5) Elorin: Yeah, but that's a bit uncertain
(4) Kibin: (Or theres a dispel spell.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot (whispering): Depends - She might, especially given time or exchange.
(4) Kibin: (Get the proper one, and it instantly sends it back to home plane.)
(1) GM: (Dispel Doesn't work on Instantaneous Calling effects - such things as Planar Binding give the Bound a one-time ticket home... if they agree to terms)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot (whispering): It's better than risking something that might doom the world - If there's one, there could be an opposite. (Deliberatly vague)
(4) Kibin: (No...)
(5) Elorin: (so the dragon cast Planar Binding, and the eagle broke free and killed her?)
(4) Kibin: (It works on a creature from another plane.)
(4) Kibin: (With the proper alignment, of course.)
(4) Kibin: (It works even if the creature came to the plane by it's own free will.)
(4) Kibin: Hmmmm.
(1) GM: (Ah, you're looking at Dispel Evil, not Dispel Magic - slight problem - Neutral alignment on the bird)
(5) Elorin: (and there's no Dispel Neutral :P)
(4) Kibin: (Ah.)
(4) Kibin: Well, we could always take that chance?
(5) Elorin: (hmm, what would a paladin varient with Smite Neutral be like? :P)
(4) Kibin: OR, we could go back to the dragon that called him, and get her to send him back.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Jason: Magic can be undone; a spell that keeps a specific seed from falling might not always apply. Still.... better than torching the place.
(4) Kibin: (Heh.)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Or at least learn where you came from......
(4) Kibin: (*Either you side with someone, or I'm killing you!*)
(5) Elorin: I don't know if she could send him back, but she probably does know what plane he's from. And the Old Man did get her resurrected, so she's available to be asked.
(1) GM: (There shall be no Balance! The war must go on until only one side is left!)
(5) Elorin: (lol)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (War doesn't determine who's right - Just who's left)
(5) Elorin: (doesn't care which side, just that only one exists)
(4) Kibin: Yeah...
(5) Elorin: (brb)
(4) Kibin: Why were you summoned here, anyway?
(1) GM: (But what alignment could such a paladin possibly have? Doesn't choose on the good-evil axis, doesn't choose on the law-chaos axis.....)
(4) Kibin: (Neutral? Hehe.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (But against neutral too...Entropy?)
(4) Kibin: (Wow, he would be messed up. And so much fun to play! :)
(1) GM: Eagle: I'm not really sure; she yanked me from my home, then tried to cage me without saying why. So when I broke free, I killed my tormentor.
(4) Kibin: (IC! :P)
(4) Kibin: Uh.
(4) Kibin: You know, I think they're supposed to ask you for a favor, and then send you home, when that happens.
(1) GM: Jason: Do you remember all those little fire elementals that Sorceror kept caged up? The Caller doesn't have to ask a service, and the elementals serverd just by being there.
(1) GM: Jason: Until they were freed, with no Binding agreement whatsoever.
(4) Kibin: Yeah, but silver dragons aren't as evil as that sorcerer...
(5) Elorin: (back)
(4) Kibin: So... If the eagle would be willing to pop back to that cave so that the silver dragon can send him back?
(1) GM: Eagle: Bleh; human labels on morality. The way of the wild is so much simpler.
(4) Kibin: (Oh, and if you assign an open-ended task that the creature cannot complete, it remains in effect for a maximum of one day per caster level.)
(10) Rilyrr: I agree with you
(5) Elorin: (ah, but no task was assigned at all)
(1) GM: (But if you don't come to an agreement, you can keep it caged for as long as you dare)
(5) Elorin: (and I don't think a task can be assigned once it breaks free)
(5) Elorin: (no task => no completion of task => no free ride home)
(4) Kibin: (No, it doesn't say when it can be assigned.)
(4) Kibin: (So break free=assign task=free ride home. Theoretically.)
(4) Kibin: (Now, can we stop arguing over rules, like we've pretty much been doing for an hour or two?)
(1) GM: Eagle: What, and trust that rat of a dragon?
(4) Kibin: Silver dragons are honest.
(1) GM: Eagle: Says a silver dragon. Of course I should trust your word on the issue....
(4) Kibin: It's either that, or stay on this plane for the rest of your life?
(5) Elorin: Usually, probably. But he has good reason to distrust this one if she just summoned him to have him there.
(1) GM: Eagle: Hmm.... I think I'd prefer to trust to that.... what did you call it? Dismissal?
(4) Kibin: Yeah?
(4) Kibin: No clue what it is, since I'm not a spellcaster...
(5) Elorin: 4 in 5 chance, it would send you home. The other 1 in 5, you could end up anywhere.
** (4) Kibin can think of several reasons why it's NOT good to always tell people the truth... **
(1) GM: Eagle: At least it would be something - making progress, rather than just sitting here rotting while my chicks grow up, or trusting the one who snatched me from my home..
** (5) Elorin is a follower of a nature deity and would prefer not to chance killing such a noble creature by sending it to, say, the Plane of Fire **
(4) Kibin: Does anyone have the spell?
(1) GM: Kaylin: Elorin, do you still have Discern Location handy?
(5) Elorin: Not me
(5) Elorin: Yes
(10) Rilyrr: Not a druid spell, sorry.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Scrying too, right?
(5) Elorin: Yes
(5) Elorin: Hmm, thinking of Dismissal followed by checking his location and following if he ends up in the wrong place?
(4) Kibin: Yeah, that could work.
(1) GM: Kaylin: That would be the plan, yes, although as we've discovered, he would need to relax and let it happen.
(4) Kibin: Not for Discern Location, I thought?
(5) Elorin: Discern Location doesn't give enough information to teleport, though.
(5) Elorin: That's what the Scrying is for.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Plane Shifting isn't an exact science; we wouldn't land on top of him. Need the teleport to reach him, and the Scrying to teleport; if all goes well, he'd only have to survive about eighteen seconds of wherever he lands, if it's bad.
(5) Elorin: Um, Discern Location takes 10 minutes to cast.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Sorry, my mistake. Although, scrying does work across the planes.....
(4) Kibin: Well, if it's something like the plane of fire, expect me to not come...
(1) GM: Kaylin: So Dismissal, Scrying, Plane Shift, Teleport, Plane Shift... 24 seconds, if he lands wrong, tops.
(5) Elorin: All right, that sounds like a reasonable backup plan.
(1) GM: Eagle: When can this be done?
(5) Elorin: But we'll probably have to wait a day for you to prepare them all.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Tomorrow. Oh, and Rilyrr - just in case, do you have a water breathing spell for us all? It's always nice to be able to breath....
(10) Rilyrr: Sure
(4) Kibin: I don't need a water breathing spell any more I think. Hmmmm.
(1) GM: Eagle: So it's settled, then, and I'm going home tomorrow?
(4) Kibin: Hopefully...
(5) Elorin: If it all works out, yes.
(5) Elorin: If the Dismissal sends you somewhere else, we'll probably have to wait a day to try again.
** (10) Rilyrr falls asleep **
(1) GM: Kaylin: So, I'll go rest and prepare spells.... meet you here tomorrow morning?
(1) GM: Eagle: Agreed.
(5) Elorin: And I'm afraid none of this can be demonstrated ahead of time, so you'll just have to trust us.
(5) Elorin: Dismissal on any of us would have no effect.
(1) GM: Eagle: Well.... I'm mostly over that .... for you, anyway....
(1) GM: The next day?
(4) Kibin: Where do you sleep?
(1) GM: Eagle: Oh, up a ways. Put together a simple nest from some of the surrounding trees. I haven't seen any others of my kind hereabouts, so....
(1) GM: Eagle: No need for a full nest, with just me.
(4) Kibin: Ah, okay.
(1) GM: Next day? Or does anyone have something else they would like to do first?
** (5) Elorin notices during the night that his chain shirt is getting a little tight in the back **
** (5) Elorin gets an idea **
** (5) Elorin takes off his chain shirt and shirt and scries... on himself **
(1) GM: Will save?
(4) Kibin: (I think that the XP gain so far would push him above a level.)
(5) Elorin: (a lock of hair is -10, what modifier does having the whole body impose? :P I fail deliberately, of course)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (MPD!)
whispering to Elorin, You see a pair of lumps stretching your back out of shape, looking like they are almost ready to burst. Not particularly painful, but definately there.
(5) Elorin: (I need just over 4000 to level up from the start of the session)
(1) GM: Next morning?
** (4) Kibin just sleeps on a tree branch. **
** (5) Elorin detects magic through the sensor, sees nothing unexpected, and is somewhat confused about what's going on **
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot sleeps on a tree branch - With 19 in balance and such a big tree... **
** (5) Elorin makes a mental note to get that checked on and maybe have his armor modified **
(5) Elorin: (next morning)
(1) GM: (If you had a car, you could drive three of them along a branch....)
** (4) Kibin goes back up to that platform in the morning. **
(1) GM: The next morning, Kaylin prepares for the day ahead, and the Eagle lands on the branch, with the slight dip announcing his arriaval.
** (4) Kibin counts with his tounge how many teeth he has in his mouth while he waits for Kaylin to prepare. **
(1) GM: Kaylin: Everyone needs to be in contact for the Plane Shift and ensuing teleport, if things don't go well.
(1) GM: Jason possesses Winddancer, and lands on Kaylin's shoulder.
(4) Kibin: Can I stay here?
(5) Elorin: Hmm, I think the Scrying can actually be cast beforehand
(5) Elorin: It should follow him wherever he goes
(1) GM: Kaylin: It follows at a speed; it can't follow as far as I'll be sending him.
(10) Rilyrr: Only up to 150 feet per round, dont think it will travel planes
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Perhaps a spell to resist energy on the eagle, first?"
(1) GM: Kaylin: Or all four.
(5) Elorin: Ah yes, that would be a good idea
(5) Elorin: Ok, this will make fire, cold, acid, and lightning much less harmful to you for a few hours...
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Resist Energy ( level 2, "Ignores 10 (or more) points of damage/attack from specified energy type" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 2 Spell ( level 2, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Resist Energy ( level 2, "Ignores 10 (or more) points of damage/attack from specified energy type" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 2 Spell ( level 2, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Resist Energy ( level 2, "Ignores 10 (or more) points of damage/attack from specified energy type" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 2 Spell ( level 2, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Resist Energy ( level 2, "Ignores 10 (or more) points of damage/attack from specified energy type" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 2 Spell ( level 2, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(4) Kibin: Heh. If you want, I can prove that to you.
(1) GM: After everyone's touching, Kayiln casts.....
Kaylin casts Dismissal ( level 5, "Forces a creature to return to native plane." )
Kaylin can cast Dismissal 1 more time
(1) GM: And the Eagle vanishes.
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Greater Scrying ( level 7, "As scrying, but faster and longer." )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 7 Spell ( level 7, "Spell slot tracking device" )
whispering to GM, [1d100] -> [87] = (87)
** (5) Elorin waited for him to vanish, of course **
** (4) Kibin is ready to touch if it doesn't open up into a plane of fire, or something like that. **
** (5) Elorin makes the image visible to all **
whispering to Elorin, You see the eagle in a forest somewhere, where the trees are of such a size that the Eagle looks appropriately scaled.
(1) GM: You see the eagle in a forest somewhere, where the trees are of such a size that the Eagle looks appropriately scaled.
(4) Kibin: (Dun. Dun. Dundundundun.)
(10) Rilyrr: Did he give us a feather before he left?
(4) Kibin: Uh.
(1) GM: Kaylin: Well, we can go visit. Let's see.....
(5) Elorin: (I thought about that for a moment but forgot, and sort of figured we'd follow regardless and collect)
(1) GM: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [7,16] = (23)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Now that I have the place right in front of me.... everyone ready to go?
(5) Elorin: Yes
(4) Kibin: Sure, if we can teleport back.
(5) Elorin: That was the plan
** (4) Kibin hovers in mid air, then touches Kaylin to teleport. Just in case. **
(1) GM: Kaylin Plane Shifts over....
(5) Elorin: (She can Feather Fall the entire party, remember?)
Kaylin casts Greater Teleport ( level 7, "Teleports without error." )
Kaylin can cast Greater Teleport 1 more time
(4) Kibin: (Yes. Bad stuff also happens, remember?)
(4) Kibin: (Better to be safe than a silver smear on the ground.(
(1) GM: And you find yourselves standing in the Eagle's nest.
(5) Elorin: And here we are, mission accomplished
** (4) Kibin just lands again. Hmmmm. **
(1) GM: Eagle: Ah, this is the right one. Oh, the feather - almost forgot....
(4) Kibin: Was going to remind you before the dismissal...
(5) Elorin: Kibin, get out your portable hole to carry the feather in
** (4) Kibin goes take out the portable hole to place it in, with his gold and shell fragments. And a few magical items. **
(1) GM: The eagle looks thorugh his feathers, and pulls one, dropping it at your feet. It lands quite heaviliy. smashing a few of the thinner branches before hitting the trunks that make up most the nest.
(4) Kibin: Uh. Can you move that inside the portable hole?
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot looks around with interest. **
** (5) Elorin doesn't feel like pushing it along the ground this time. **
(1) GM: Eagle: Oh, sure....
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Never seen another plane before."
(5) Elorin: Stand back!
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot stands back. **
(5) Elorin: Or you could do it
(5) Elorin: (to the eagle)
(5) Elorin: That works to.
(5) Elorin: (*too)
(1) GM: Eagle: What were you planning on, I wonder?
** (5) Elorin was going to cast Righteous Might **
(1) GM: Eagle: It's easy enough to lift.... here....
(5) Elorin: Oh, a little spell that makes be bigger and stronger for a minute or two
(1) GM: The eagle picks it up in it's beak, and drops it down the hole.
(1) GM: Eagle: Good soaring.
** (4) Kibin hmmms. "I wonder if it's possible to fold it up inside. Hmmmm." **
(1) GM: The eagle takes off, heading for a field you can make out in the distance.
(5) Elorin: (darn it, I wanted my dramatic "THOR'S MIGHT" (except it's Ehlonna, of course) scene :( :P)
** (4) Kibin folds up the portable hole. "Now we need a cow. Kaylin, do you have flesh to stone?" **
(1) GM: The Ms. Eagle lands as the Mr. takes off, with a chunk of bloody meat in her beak, which she parcels up and tosses to her chicks.
(10) Rilyrr: Disconnecting from server...
(10) Rilyrr (exit): 16:53
(5) Elorin: Are the cows as big here as the eagles? I think we might be better off going back to our plane and finding a cow there.
(4) Kibin: Duh.
** (5) Elorin ends the scrying **
(1) GM: Ms. Eagle: Cows? Oh, they aren't so big. They'd probably come up to your chest, give or take. A little heavy, but lots of meat for the chicks.
(5) Elorin: (huh, I just checked and it's actually not dismissable)
(4) Kibin: Or, not.
(1) GM: (You can, however, Dispel your own spell with no check, provided you have Dispel Magic still)
(4) Kibin: (You can also not choose to show it to everyone, and just ignore it. :)
(4) Kibin: (Ignoring the focus in the case of a mirror works too.)
(5) Elorin: (wouldn't the sensor have to be in range, though?)
(11) Kaylin (enter): 16:55
(1) GM: The eagle quickly outpaces the sensor, and the spell dissapates.
(4) Kibin: (Kaylin, do you have flesh to stone on your standard spell list?)
(5) Elorin: (I guess the eagle has a sensor following him around for most of the day)
(1) GM: Welcome back. On the Behemoth Eagle's home plane, having gotten him home.
(11) Kaylin: (Interesting... did we get a feather?)
(5) Elorin: (yes)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Also, Kaylin died.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Joking)
(4) Kibin: (Hey, that's too quick.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yeah, but I have no sense of time)
(1) GM: (Sensor has limited speed - eagle's base speed is 160 ft/round; sensor can't keep up.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Well, not much of one, anyway)
(4) Kibin: (No sense of humor either, it seems.)
(5) Elorin: (ah, but it never tires)
(5) Elorin: (any time he slows down or stops, it tries to catch up)
(1) GM: (Also, if the eagle gets annoyed with it, well, he can sanp at it a couple of times - at worst, it's DC 40 or so to spot the thing, and he's got a modifier of +41....)
(5) Elorin: (and it's always moving directly towards him, cutting corners)
** (5) Elorin suppresses the image and ignores it mostly, just checking occasionally out of idel curiosity to see if he's destroyed it yet **
whispering to Elorin, On one check, you see a brief image of a very large beak speeding towards you ... and then no image.
(4) Kibin: (Kaylin?
(4) Kibin: Kaylin, do you have a flesh to stone spell prepared?
(11) Kaylin: (no)
(4) Kibin: (That was IC.)
(5) Elorin: (for Kaylin, we got the eagle here with Dismissal, with a Scrying/Plane Shift/Teleport/Plane Shift backup plan for the 20% chance of sending him elsewhere)
(1) GM: Don't think so..... by the way - two Greater Teleports, two Plane Shifts, and two Dismissal's prepared today......; one of each used.
(5) Elorin: (first try worked, and we followed to collect payment)
(11) Kaylin: (I have Plane Shift?)
(4) Kibin: Or anything to make transporting a live cow a lot easier?
(1) GM: (Wait - you didn't pick it up? Oops. )
(4) Kibin: (We'll call that a GM goof and forget about it.)
(5) Elorin: (er, retcon a teleport to shop and back for that, I guess)
(5) Elorin: (or get it at the same time as Greater Scrying)
(4) Kibin: (Or previous loot package.)
(1) GM: (Yeah ... that works.... found a scroll of it somewhere along the way....)
(11) Kaylin: (Something like. Need to go on a scroll-buying spree soon)
(1) GM: (Dismissal too, if needed....)
(4) Kibin: (IC PEOPLE! :P)
(1) GM: Jason: Well, I can probably herd a cow into your little hole there.
(5) Elorin: (if it had come up that you didn't have them earlier, we could have fixed that pretty easily and quickly)
(4) Kibin: If I wanted to, I could just paralyze the cow, and then push it in.
(5) Elorin: Yeah, but do we want it alive and moving around and making a mess in there while we travel?
(4) Kibin: That's what I was thinking.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, it wouldn't take long for it to suffocate.
(4) Kibin: And there's that, as well.
(5) Elorin: I think it's supposed to be alive on delivery, too.
(4) Kibin: Notice we need a LIVE cow...
(4) Kibin: Uh. We do have a druid.
(5) Elorin: Oh well, no time limit.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Cow-tipping!)
(5) Elorin: This looks like a nice place to relax for a bit.
(11) Kaylin: There are a number of spells I could learn from scrolls that would enable us to put a cow in suspended animation and keep it alive.
(4) Kibin: Let's not interupt the nice eagle.
(5) Elorin: (what, wild shape the druid into a cow? :P)
(5) Elorin: (I was referring to the plane, not the eagle's nest)
(4) Kibin: (I don't know that. Stop telling me these things OOCly.)
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, details, details.... we could ask the lady where she hunts, though.
(4) Kibin: I was thinking that the druid could use a animal charming spell or something to get the cow to come along with us.
(1) GM: Okay - that comment needs to wait for while Rilyrr is here; I'm not sure whether or not his character would object to that plan.
(4) Kibin: (Meh, fine.)
(5) Elorin: Turning the cow into stone and back seems the simplest solution to me.
(4) Kibin: Yeah.
(4) Kibin: Let's vote for rest.
(5) Elorin: And I wouldn't object to camping somewhere around here for a day
(4) Kibin: Of course, don't you think it might be a little dangerous here?
(1) GM: Jason: Any preadators, other than yourselves, hereabouts?
(5) Elorin: (DM beat me to it)
(1) GM: Ms. Eagle: Oh, no - we tend to keep the competition for the nearby herd down to a minimum.
(4) Kibin: Okay. To the ground it is?
** (4) Kibin jumps off the eagles nest, and dives with his wings to the ground. Weeeeeeeee! **
(1) GM: Jason walks.
(5) Elorin: So, where does this nearby herd usually wander? I hope you don't mind if we reduce it by one before we leave.
** (5) Elorin shakes his head at Kibin's antics, then wishes briefly that he could do the same **
(1) GM: Ms. Eagle: Oh, one for bringing my snookums back? No problem; we keep them in a field, a short trip, about a five minute flight from here, although it's going to be taking slightly longer for Snookums for a while.
** (4) Kibin dives for a few seconds, at about 80 miles an hour, before slowing down nearing the ground, and landing. **
(5) Elorin: What direction?
(11) Kaylin: ("snookums"? Poor eagle...)
(1) GM: Ms. Eagle gestures with her beak, towards the grasslands the rescued Eagle went.
** (5) Elorin mentally marks the direction **
(5) Elorin: Thank you.
whispering to GM, [160*50] -> 8000
(5) Elorin: Now, everyone who's prefer not to climb down, gather round.
** (11) Kaylin gathers round **
(5) Elorin: Unless Kaylin wants to Feather Fall everyone down.
(11) Kaylin: I think that would be easiest. It would spare your powerful spells.
(1) GM: Youre about a quarter mile up.
(5) Elorin: (hmm, 60 ft per round. [60*16] -> 960 feet before it runs out)
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot gathers round. **
(5) Elorin: Then again, this is a bit far for Feather Fall.
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Wind Walk ( level 6, "You and your allies turn vaporous and travel fast" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
** (5) Elorin flies down **
** (11) Kaylin precipitates down **
(1) GM: At the ground, it's rather dark, as there are lots of very large trees with reasonably dense foliage.
(5) Elorin: (hmm, 4132 xp to go for level 17, am I going to level up tonight?)
(1) GM: There is some light, though.
(4) Kibin: You know, I wonder if I can literally sleep on a cloud. Hmmmm.
(5) Elorin: I seem to remember you doing it before.
(1) GM: The ground cover is mostly pine needles - roughly two foot long pine needles.
** (4) Kibin would hover over the pine needles, then, not wanting to get poked. **
(5) Elorin: (hmm, 4132 xp to go for level 17, am I going to level up tonight? How much should I/we accelerate my wings' growth?)
(1) GM: The occasional pine cone is taller than Kaylin.
(4) Kibin: Oookay. Maybe we should go sleep on a tree branch.
(1) GM: (Haven't worked it out yet)
(11) Kaylin: These are rather large flora.
(4) Kibin: (I would say yeah.)
** (4) Kibin flies up to one of the lower branches to lay down on. **
(1) GM: The branches are reasonably wide, and easy enough to sleep on.
(4) Kibin: (Yay, two hours or so for ritual thingie! :D)
(1) GM: Camping out and readying spells?
** (5) Elorin camps on a branch **
** (4) Kibin lays down on the branch, snoring. **
** (5) Elorin discovers his armor is uncomfortable tight and removes it **
** (5) Elorin tries a Heal just in case it's something bad **
(1) GM: The night passes without incident.
(4) Kibin: (So elorin no get wings?_
(5) Elorin: (at level 17, I get wings with a 60 ft fly speed and good maneuverability)
(5) Elorin: (Ex ability, nonmagical)
(4) Kibin: (Now, I mean.)
(4) Kibin: (I would think you'd get 4,000 by now.)
(1) GM: Let's see... we've got 1 15th, 3 16ths, and 2 17ths in the party?
(5) Elorin: (I think so)
(4) Kibin: (Think so.)
(5) Elorin: (I also got at least one vote for RP last session, and I expect we'll probably be getting some quest xp as well)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (I need 5,000)
(1) GM: Possibly..... but level up after - when safe and sound on your home plane.
(1) GM: Tell you what - the wings pop out, but too small to do any good.
(5) Elorin: (I was thinking I'd get small nonfunctional wings shortly before levelling up)
(5) Elorin: (I was in the middle of typing that when you said that)
** (4) Kibin snores quietly and peacefully while everyone prepares spells and stuff. Zzz... **
** (4) Kibin would wake up any time someone goes within 10 feet of him. **
(1) GM: (Well... except Jason - Incorporiality kinda spoils blindsense......)
(4) Kibin: (Yeah, of course.)
(4) Kibin: (Eldon might want to try sneaking up on me, however. :)\
(1) GM: Anyway.... next morning?
** (5) Elorin discovers the feathers on his "bumps". "well, that's an unexpected development" **
(4) Kibin: (*wonders if blindsense can be selective to certain people. Hmmmm.*)
** (5) Elorin experimentally tries to flex his tiny wings, generating a small breeze **
(5) Elorin: (next morning)
** (4) Kibin is ready for Eldon this night! **
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (No sneak)
(1) GM: The sun comes up. Not that it's easy to tell, with the canopy.
(4) Kibin: (Ah well.)
(4) Kibin: (I'll still be sleeping until one of you people wake me up.)
(5) Elorin: Kaylin, better prepare multiple Flesh to Stone's, just in case the cow resists the first one
(5) Elorin: (not likely, but you never know...)
(4) Kibin: (Sure, it'll resist it...)
(5) Elorin: (nat 20)
(4) Kibin: (Yoohoo, kaylin?)
(4) Kibin: (Violist is gone again...)
(1) GM: My connection works.....
(4) Kibin: (She's not responding to IRC.)
(1) GM: Well, in that case....
(1) GM: Kaylin: Two - good idea. Ready to go?
(1) GM: Oh, and Kibin - natural healing.
(4) Kibin: (Huh?)
(4) Kibin: (Ah yes.)
(5) Elorin: (natural healing takes care of your two points of "cure splinter" :P)
(1) GM: "AC 36 HP 80/82"
(4) Kibin: (It's not a splinter. It's a bruise.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Supper - NPC Eldon - He won't have much to do, anyway)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Splinter)
(1) GM: Oh, that depends on how many cows take offense.....
(4) Kibin: (GM, can you have supper now?)
(11) Kaylin: (arrgh, I _loathe_ helpsvc.exe)
(11) Kaylin: (keeps rendering the computer unusable for ages)
(1) GM: Well, I only break for dinner when mom cooks; when she doesn't, I just ignore it until after the session. Commonly skip breakfast and lunch both for these.
(4) Kibin: (Ah, okay.)
** (4) Kibin snores some more, resting peacefully. **
(5) Elorin: (don't you get a bit hungry when you do that?)
** (4) Kibin is glad Jason hasn't felt like playing any pranks on him lately. **
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Well, looks like we're having leftover buffet.)
(1) GM: (So kill it - even if it's not corrupted, it's just a Windows System Help component - how often do you use it, really?)
(5) Elorin: (I just checked, and I don't have such a process running on my comp)
(11) Kaylin: (I never do, but it keeps launching itself for some reason, eats up every dang CPU cycle I've got)
(5) Elorin: (of course, my OS may be different)
(5) Elorin: (win2k)
(11) Kaylin: (WinXP Pro :()
(4) Kibin: (IC time.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Don't have it on my list)
(4) Kibin: (I killed it. Hehe.)
(5) Elorin: (So, anyway)
(4) Kibin: (Kaylin, there is a way to disable it.)
(1) GM: (By "Kill" I mean "rename" so that the system loses track of it. Not the process (although that too) but the file. It's a system file, and likely a system process - it almost certainly hides)
** (5) Elorin shows up at breakfast barechested and with tiny wings growing out of his back **
(1) GM: Jason: Umm.... I'm sure someone around here has a Remove Curse.....
** (11) Kaylin looks at Elorin **
(5) Elorin: It's not magical, I checked.
(11) Kaylin: Is Kibin really getting under your skin that much?
** (4) Kibin finnally wakes up, and stares at the wings on Elorin's back. **
** (5) Elorin laughs **
(5) Elorin: ("under my skin"?)
(5) Elorin: I don't see how he could be responsible
(11) Kaylin: (You know what the phrase means, right? :P)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Not quite ready for flight, yet, I see."
(5) Elorin: (yes)
(4) Kibin: Uh, did I miss something?
(11) Kaylin: Nothing that the rest of us missed, so far as I know.
(5) Elorin: (nice pun with "annoying" vs literally under the skin)
(1) GM: Jason: Nah, you didn't miss a thing. Why, are you seeing something out of place?
(5) Elorin: (what's the sense motive circumstance modifier on that? :P)
(1) GM: Oh, I'll give it a +8.
(1) GM: Bluff Skill Check: [1d20+26] -> [16,26] = (42)
(5) Elorin: These seem to have been growing for a week or two now.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+27] -> [17,27] = (44)
(5) Elorin: It started out just as itching.
(4) Kibin: Hmmm. At least you didn't have to break your way out of an egg for them.
(5) Elorin: You know, you didn't really have to do that all by yourself...
(4) Kibin: I didn't think of you helping at the time. And you didn't volunteer.
(11) Kaylin: Soon I'll be the only one left who can't fly naturally.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, I don't know, I think Rilyrr and Eldon still have some slight issues with that..... but yes, flight is very handy.
(5) Elorin: Eldon can fly?
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "You seemed to be doing well enough. Besides, baby birds who have help often don't survive."
(4) Kibin: Fun, too.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "No..."
(4) Kibin: To the cows?
(5) Elorin: After breakfast
** (5) Elorin continues eating the Heroes' Feast **
** (4) Kibin joins in. **
(4) Kibin (whispering): How many teeth did I count, out of curiosity?
(11) Kaylin: Food!
(1) GM: Jason kinda looks the other way, but has Winddancer join in, just in case.
whispering to Kibin, four very large ones, lots of smaller, closely packed ones, more difficult to count.
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot eats. **
(4) Kibin (whispering): So is that a 'too many to count' thing?
whispering to Kibin, have you ever tried counting your own teeth?
(4) Kibin (whispering): Takes a while, but I've done it.
(1) GM: After breakfast.....
whispering to Kibin, More like a "Dude - it's flavor"
(4) Kibin (whispering): Flavor is good.
whispering to Kibin, Pick a number, then. It's not really liable to come up much of ever.
(4) Kibin: Now the cow?
(1) GM: Jason: How, now?
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "And some have black spots."
(5) Elorin: Five minutes of flying, she said. Probably much longer on foot, and the undergrowth is a bit thick, what with 2 foot long pine needles sticking up everywhere.
(5) Elorin: I think this calls for Wind Walk.
(4) Kibin: Brown cow?
(1) GM: Jason hops into Winddancer before having to respond to that one.
(1) GM: Dinner.
(1) GM:
(4) Kibin: Hehe. Okay, windwalk is good.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hey, go get a cow, man)
(4) Kibin: (Don't have a cow, man.)
** (5) Elorin casts Dispel Pun :P **
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Not yet, dude)
(4) Kibin: (I think cows have a better life than this.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (But...It's loaded!)
(5) Elorin: (Pun-pun takes exception...)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (That's ok. I've got gun-gun)
(5) Elorin: (have you seen the Pun-pun build, or do I need to link it for you?)
(4) Kibin: (Pun-pun is done-done if someone used it in a game.0
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Oh, I mis-though to bun-bun)
(4) Kibin: (Pun-puns, be gone with you! :P)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ok, I'm done-done)
(4) Kibin: (I'm stun-stuned by all of the pathetic pun-puns. :P)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ok, I'm out. You won-won)
(4) Kibin: (No, we're not done-done yet!)
(4) Kibin: (Hehe. Let's stop before Jack joins in.)
(4) Kibin: (He's passed his punning phase, but he might have a relapse.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Oh, the pain-pain)
(4) Kibin: (You'll be in pain-pain if you don't stop.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (/me stop-...Er)
(4) Kibin: (Ha, you lost your pun-punning.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Nope. I just stop-stopped)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Your fault. You started it again)
(5) Elorin: (Hmm, the actual text of the Manipulate Form ability that makes Pun-pun possible is now posted in the thread, claiming fair use. After reading it, I really don't see how anyone ever thought it wasn't ridiculously abusable)
(5) Elorin: link
(4) Kibin: (Hmmmmm.)
(1) GM: Grins Evilly: It's a Su ability, non-instantaneous; pun-Pun could be taken down by a Surprise Attack with an Anti-Magic Field, as it casues it ALL to collapse.
(4) Kibin: (Hehehe.)
(1) GM: Oh, and back, by the way.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Nah...Falling cow)
(1) GM: Falling cow with Anti-Magic Field!
(5) Elorin: (except that he's an overdeity, and therefore unaffected by Antimagic Field)
(4) Kibin: (I would classify him as a major jgod, and thus too important to mess with mortals.)
(5) Elorin: (divine rank is one of his limitless stats)
(1) GM: Ah, but that requries multiple interactions with dieties in the power-up phase ... but that's okay - Pun-Pun is prevented from ever forming by the Omniscimancer.
(4) Kibin: (Thus, Pun-Pun is useless in anything but major divine matters.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Not for six seconds...And the GM rules the game)
(5) Elorin: (hehe, omnisciency at level 4 :D)
(1) GM: Anway - Let's see... we have Eldon, Kibin, and Elorin commenting recently; Kaylin online?
(4) Kibin: (Manipulate form can even grant unpublished abilities.)
(11) Kaylin: (Yooho)
(11) Kaylin: (my own dinner is in a few minutes though)
(1) GM: Ah. Care to stone a cow or two first?
(5) Elorin: (technically, Manipulate Form doesn't specify any limits to the abilities it can grant, so he could do something like give himself the abillity "You win. Everything." :P)
(4) Kibin: (Oh. And by the way, he can grant himself an extraordinary version of manipulate form. :D)
(11) Kaylin: (certainly)
(5) Elorin: (that too)
(4) Kibin: (Thus, no anti-magic spell.)
(1) GM: (The Ex effect of which is a Permanent result of a Su ablity - which is thus supressed by an AMF as the source is.)
(11) Kaylin: (brb)
(1) GM: Anyway.....
(5) Elorin: (right up until his first Ice Assassin is complete)
(4) Kibin: (My brain hurts.)
(1) GM: At the plains, the cows look quite shaggy; and quite upset. Seems a few of their number have been snatched up lately, and they seem to want to take it out on the nearest thing they can touch. You.
(1) GM: Roll for initiative.
(1) GM: [1d20+0] -> [2,0] = (2)
(5) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [9,6] = (15)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+2] -> [14,2] = (16)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+4] -> [4,4] = (8)
(4) Kibin: (Hehe. Omnsciency, infinite stats.)
(5) Elorin: (it's all technically legal by the RAW)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+2] -> [3,2] = (5)
(1) GM: (True Infinity, rather than the approaching that Pun-Pun gets)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+2] -> [16,2] = (18)
(5) Elorin: (except Pun-Pun grants himself the Omniscificer's ability to have infinite skill bonuses)
(5) Elorin: (so Pun-Pun has it too)
(5) Elorin: (anyway, back to the cows...)
(4) Kibin: (O.o)
(1) GM: (Ah, but the Omniscimancer gets there first and prevents Pun-Pun)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Falling cow, five seconds till impact)
(5) Elorin: (It's tempting to write up a "Summon Pun-Pun" level 0 spell to add to my spells known. "One of these days, the space cows will drop their guard. One of these days..." :P)
(1) GM: [1d10] -> [7] = (7)
(4) Kibin: (Ooo, I want a summon punpun spell too!)
(1) GM: Kaylin, Kibin, Elorin, Jason, Eldon, Cows
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Doesn't matter. The space-cows are time-travelers!)
(4) Kibin: (Hey, are these 'weak' cows, or challenging cows?)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Well, at least he's got a better reaction time than a cow)
(5) Elorin: (ah, but Pun-pun will destroy them before they have the chance to realize their error and travel back to fix it :P)
(4) Kibin: (*wants to freezerburn some cows! :D*)
(11) Kaylin: (so... stone 'em?)
(5) Elorin: (one of them)
(5) Elorin: (the nearest, I'd say)
(1) GM: There's quite a sizeable herd.....
(11) Kaylin: (Close enough?)
(1) GM: Yep. Edge of the herd 35 feet away. Mr. Eagle flying around on the far side of the herd.
(11) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Flesh to Stone ( level 6, "Petrifies a creature of flesh." )
(1) GM: [1d20+7] -> [14,7] = (21)
(1) GM: Save DC is over that, so one of the cows turns into a statue.
(5) Elorin: (+7 fort save? O.o)
(1) GM: Oh, and anyone care to make a Knoweledge(Nature) check?
(11) Kaylin: (dang, tough cows)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+5] -> [18,5] = (23)
(11) Kaylin: Knowledge: Nobility and Royalty Skill Check: [1d20+13] -> [1,13] = (14)
(11) Kaylin: Knowledge: Nature Skill Check: [1d20+13] -> [14,13] = (27)
(4) Kibin: (Me smart. O.o)
(11) Kaylin: (That's the second natural 1 I've rolled on a KNowledge check today...)
(5) Elorin: (good thing you wasted the 1 on that other check :D)
(11) Kaylin: (yeah, mouse slip :P)
whispering to Kibin, Kaylin, These are technically Bison; herding animals, tend to stampede.
(5) Elorin: (and that statement actually makes sense, here, thanks to pseudorandomness rather than true random numbers)
(1) GM: Moving, Kaylin?
(11) Kaylin: Oops.
(11) Kaylin: (Yeah, moving faaaar back)
(5) Elorin: ?
(5) Elorin: (care to say why?)
(4) Kibin (whispering): Does it still count as a cow?
(11) Kaylin: These have a tendency to stampede... uhm, maybe I shouldn't have done that.
whispering to Kibin, Yep.
(1) GM: So, hustling away after casting the spell, into the forest?
(5) Elorin: Stampede towards or away from a threat?
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Wind walk. Quickly."
(4) Kibin: Towards, I think.
(11) Kaylin: They're not logical. Could go either way.
(1) GM: Which would put you at 65 feet from the edge of the herd.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(11) Kaylin: Wind Walk would be nice...
(5) Elorin: But you need to be next to me for that...
** (4) Kibin flies over the herd out of reach, goes into a poisition where he can get most of them, and uses his paralyzing breath weapon. EAT COLD, YOU DAIRY PRODUCTS! **
(5) Elorin: (though the earlier casting is still in effect, so 5 standard actions is all you need)
(1) GM: It's a very big herd, and they take up a fair amount of space. You can et maybe three.
(1) GM: That was a Fort save? [1d20+7] -> [6,7] = (13); what's the DC?
(1) GM: [1d20+7] -> [4,7] = (11), [1d20+7] -> [12,7] = (19)
(4) Kibin: (Uh. Hitdie divided by two plus constitution modifer plus 10. Something like that.)
(4) Kibin: (So.... 19?)
(1) GM: So 18 = Con modifier;
(1) GM: Two of them stop grazing.
(4) Kibin: [1d6+1] -> [6,1] = (7)
(1) GM: Elorin?
(4) Kibin: (I did it over the stampeding ones, probally. :P)
(4) Kibin: (So... 2 of them are frozen for 7 rounds. Ooo.)(
(1) GM: (they aren't stampeding yet....)
(4) Kibin: (Oh.)
(11) Kaylin: (They might not, either...)
(11) Kaylin: (Not like turning one to stone generates a lot of noise)
(5) Elorin: (Cow looks too big to pick up normally?)
** (4) Kibin hmmms. "Hey cows, any of you want to follow the flying dragon?" **
(5) Elorin: (But small enough with the +4 strength and double carrying capacity of Righteous Might?)
(5) Elorin: (the stoned one, specifically)
(1) GM: (I don't know, can you handle 1,800 to 2,400 lbs?)
(5) Elorin: (er, I don't think Righteous Might will be enough for this one)
(5) Elorin: (600 max load, so no)
(1) GM: Ah, so you could drag it under Righteous Might .....
** (4) Kibin hmmmms. **
(4) Kibin: You know, we could have just had Jason inhabit one, and teleport it with us.
(4) Kibin: (Yoohoo people.)
(1) GM: Elorin still hasn't gone.
(5) Elorin: (does the herd look like it's about to stampede?)
(1) GM: Hmm... nature diety ... do you have Knoweledge(Nature)?
(5) Elorin: (not enough skill points :( )
(1) GM: Well, Make a Wisdom check, then.
(5) Elorin: Wis check: [1d20+8] -> [13,8] = (21)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+5] -> [15,5] = (20)
(4) Kibin: (My check. :P)
whispering to Elorin, They seem more worried about that bird in the air behind them than you.....
whispering to Kibin, Yep. Liable to stampede.
(4) Kibin: (Wow we're regular geniuses. :P)
(1) GM: Elorin? Actions?
(4) Kibin: (Hurry up, I have to go in 45 minutes! I want to see what this ritual thingie is already!)
** (5) Elorin delays **
(1) GM: Jason.....
(1) GM: Jason casts a spell....
(1) GM: Shadow Conjouration, Level 4: Mimics conjuration below 4th level, but only 20% real
(1) GM: Summon Monster III: Fiendish Monstrous Centipede, Huge.
(1) GM: Between the party and the herd.
(5) Elorin: Well, that looks fearsome. For a cow, anyway.
(1) GM: Jason: Anyone care for a little fake living shield?
(1) GM: Eldon?
(1) GM: Jason: Mostly, it's that I don't really see them runinng over something bigger than they are.....
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot goes behind the centipede. **
(5) Elorin: (so, where is this thing in relation to the stoned cow and us?)
(1) GM: Stoned Cow: Edge of the herd. Centipede: Just this side of the edge of the herd. Us: 35 feet from the edge of the herd.
(1) GM: Kaylin: 65 feet from the edge of the herd.
(5) Elorin: Kibin, put the hole down behind the Centipede's shelter, I'll see about shoving the cow into it.
** (11) Kaylin watches from some distance back the odd tableau **
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Righteous Might ( level 5, "Your size increases, and you gain combat bonuses" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 5 Spell ( level 5, "Spell slot tracking device" )
** (5) Elorin is now bigger than a cow **
(1) GM: Eldon - any actions other than moving?
(1) GM: Oh, and that moves you to ... what, large?
(5) Elorin: (well, same size, at least)
(5) Elorin: (yes)
(5) Elorin: (big enough I think they'd at least be less likely to run into me)
(4) Kibin: (Hehe. I love portable holes because of no weight limit.)
(1) GM: Well, in that case, Herd's turn.
(1) GM: The eagle at the far end of the herd dives in, looking for a snack. The herd runs as fast as they can away.
(1) GM: Incedentally, directly away from the bird.
(11) Kaylin: (Wheeeee.)
(11) Kaylin: (dodge the centipede, dodge the centipede...)
(1) GM: A hundred bison in the herd; they move around the centipede, leaving Eldon alone. Elorin, however, isn't quite big enough to be avoided, and needs to make a reflex save. As does Kaylin.
(5) Elorin: Reflex save: [1d20+21] -> [7,21] = (28)
(1) GM: Kaylin?
(1) GM: Reflex save?
(11) Kaylin: Reflex save: [1d20+11] -> [2,11] = (13)
(11) Kaylin: (I'm screwed...)
(1) GM: DC 18; you needed a 7 or better. Pretty much.
(1) GM: Fortunately, the Centipede at least divides the herd..... Reflex half ..... [10d12] -> [11,8,7,8,4,3,11,9,3,2] = (66)
(11) Kaylin: (brb, need more food and don't want to see what happens :P)
(5) Elorin: (Heroes' Feast: [1d8+10] -> [2,10] = (12))
(5) Elorin: (does Evasion apply to this?0
(1) GM: Which means Elorin doesn't suffer from it, as he made the save, and is still wearing that ring of Evasion.
(1) GM: Kaylin takes 66 trample damage.
(4) Kibin: (Is Kaylin in danger of being stampeded any more?)
(11) Kaylin: *hiss*
(1) GM: Nah, the herd passes, deep into the forest.
(11) Kaylin: ``3
(5) Elorin: Well, that could have gone better
(11) Kaylin: (sorry, just dropped my drink on the floor)
(1) GM: You see the large Eagle carrying away one of the cows.
** (5) Elorin goes over to heal Kaylin while Kibin spreads the hole out **
(1) GM: Looks positively small in it's clutches.
** (4) Kibin places out the hole in front of him, ready for pushing. **
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Critical Wounds ( level 4, "Cures 4d8 damage +1/level (max +20)" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(1) GM: Jason: Everyone's alive ... well, except me, bbut that's expected.... right?
(5) Elorin: [4d8+17] -> [8,1,6,6,17] = (38)
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Serious Wounds ( level 3, "Cures 3d8 damage +1/level (max +15)" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(5) Elorin: [3d8+15] -> [3,5,7,15] = (30)
** (5) Elorin goes over to the stoned cow and shoves it into the hole **
** (5) Elorin shrinks back to normal **
(1) GM: [17+1d7] -> [17,4] = (21)
** (5) Elorin takes as much care as possible putting the cow in **
(1) GM: You have a 2100 pound statue of a cow in your Portable Hole. It sticks up slightly.
(11) Kaylin: Ow...
(11) Kaylin: Damn, that hurts.
(11) Kaylin: Bloody eagle.
(5) Elorin: Used to hurt, you mean.
(4) Kibin: Oookay.
(11) Kaylin: Thanks, Elorin, you're a lifesaver.
(5) Elorin: You're welcome
(4) Kibin: It doesn't fit.
(5) Elorin: Maybe if we turn it on its side?
(5) Elorin: (or did it fall that way?)
(1) GM: You notice that the portable hole is just barely wide enough for it's height, as it's frozen in a standing position.
(1) GM: It's in face down, but there's no way it could be slid over on it's side to make it fit.
(4) Kibin: Uh. We could just teleport it directly?
(1) GM: (As I recall, Portable holes are 10 feet deep, 6-foot diameter. Stuff at the bottom, and it's six feet tall.)
(1) GM: (and 9-12 feet long.....)
(1) GM: Kaylin - Spellcraft check?
(11) Kaylin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+32] -> [9,32] = (41)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Cake!)
(5) Elorin: (brb)
whispering to Kaylin, Petrified creatures are treated as unconscious, and unconscious critters are considered willing targets for spells that either require such or are harmless.
(11) Kaylin: (is the cow Large or Medium?)
(1) GM: Large.
(11) Kaylin: (hmmph)
(4) Kibin: (Comeon, I want to do the ritual thingie today. 20 minutes.)
(11) Kaylin: (Who all do we have with us?)
(11) Kaylin: (Few enough that I could teleport us all if Jason hitched a ride in someone else?)
(1) GM: Kaylin, Rilyrr, Eldon, Elorin, Kibin, Jason & familiar, Cow.
(11) Kaylin: (bah...)
(11) Kaylin: (Would require two trips)
(1) GM: Not necessarily.
(4) Kibin: (So?)
(11) Kaylin: (We still have those Amulets of Wossname, Adaptation?)
(11) Kaylin: (Couldn't we use those to transport people in the portable hole?)
(1) GM: Should
(5) Elorin: (yes)
(11) Kaylin: All right. We can do this, but you'll have to trust me.
(5) Elorin: (we've got 3 IIRC - Mine, Kibin's, and Jason's (I think he took one))
(4) Kibin: Oookay.
(11) Kaylin: (I thought I had one)
(5) Elorin: (Kaylin's turned out to only work underground)
(11) Kaylin: (oh.)
(4) Kibin: Explain awya.
(11) Kaylin: We'll need two or three of you to be inside the Portable Hole for a few minutes while I teleport.
(11) Kaylin: Use the Amulets of Adaptation.
(1) GM: (Yep; and had you been here on that day, you may have learned that the hard way, when teleporting into the ocean.....)
(11) Kaylin: (ouch.)
(11) Kaylin: (That would have been troublesome)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "I volenteer."
(11) Kaylin: Thank you, Eldon.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, I can put Winddancer and myself in there; we shouldn't take up much space.....
(5) Elorin: How will we deal with the cow?
(1) GM: Jason: Besides; what's the worst that's liable to happen? Us all getting lost on the Astral?
(11) Kaylin: I can take that with me if enough people are in the hole.
(5) Elorin: Yes, but we have to get it out of the hole first
(4) Kibin: And don't bring any extradimensional holes with you, please.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "I have none that I am aware of."
(5) Elorin: Got anything like this Handy Haversack?
(5) Elorin: Holds a lot more than it looks like it should
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "I don't think so. I do have an immovable rod - Does that use dimensional magic?"
(4) Kibin: (Dang it, not going to be able to do ritual thingie today. :(
whispering to Kaylin, Nope.
(5) Elorin: No, that shouldn't be a problem
(11) Kaylin: No, that will be fine.
(5) Elorin: Let's see, we need a Plane Shift and Teleport to get back to the dragon. Do you have an extra teleport beyond that, Kaylin?
(4) Kibin: (Hmmmm, maybe 15 extra minutes.)
(5) Elorin: Kaylin?
(1) GM: Kaylin?
(11) Kaylin: Yes I can do some extra teleporting.
(5) Elorin: Good. Because that's the only way I can think of to get the cow out of the hole before closing it.
(1) GM: Jason: Is that the only trouble?
(4) Kibin: Doesn't Jason have a dimensional door thingie?
(1) GM: Jason hops into his familiar, lands on the cow, and teleports it out.
(1) GM: Dimension Door, Level 4: Teleports you short distance
(4) Kibin: Okay, problem solved.
(4) Kibin: Who wants to go into the wonderful, magical, portable hole of glee?
(5) Elorin: I'll go.
(1) GM: Jason: Already volunteered.
** (5) Elorin takes off his Haversack and hands it to Kaylin **
** (5) Elorin gets in the hole **
(5) Elorin: Ready!
(1) GM: Elorin - still carrying your Effiecient Quiver?
(5) Elorin: (oh, right, I hand that off too)
(5) Elorin: (thought of it a minute ago, then forgot again)
(1) GM: Hmm... Int check, DC 10?
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Memory check, DC Kodak without film)
(5) Elorin: Int check: [1d20+0] -> [17,0] = (17)
(1) GM: Congrats; you remember in time.
(5) Elorin: (if that failed, I was going to hold out for Kaylin making an int check to yell at me in time :P)
(4) Kibin: (If any of you kill this portable hole, I'd probally be very very angry at you.)
(1) GM: (Ah, but she would also need to beat your Initiative roll for that to work.....)
(11) Kaylin: (so, Plane Shift isn't actually on my character's XML file...)
(1) GM: (it is, however, in the standard list of Arcane spells, and is readilly available for adding.)
(4) Kibin: Okay, everyone ready?
(5) Elorin: Yes
** (4) Kibin folds up the portable hole, then. **
(11) Kaylin: (brilliant)
(11) Kaylin: Let's be off.
(11) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Plane Shift ( level 7, "Up to eight subjects travel to another plane." )
(11) Kaylin: (back to the Material Plane?)
(1) GM: And you wind up..... let's see... [5d100] -> [48,19,43,24,73] = (207)
(1) GM: 207 miles off target. Which puts you...... [1d6] -> [5] = (5)
(1) GM: On the wrong mountain.
(4) Kibin: Let's try that again.
(11) Kaylin: Well... that never gets you on the right spot...
(11) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Greater Teleport ( level 7, "Teleports without error." )
(5) Elorin: (in fact, Plane Shift is guaranteed to never land exactly where you want to go :P)
(5) Elorin: (minimum of 5 miles off)
(1) GM: How many seventh level spell slots do you have?
(11) Kaylin: (3)
(11) Kaylin: (no, 4)
(1) GM: 3 base, 1 bonus. Gotcha.
(5) Elorin: (and 3 8th level slots, too)
(11) Kaylin: (that 6th level is throwing me off, what with eliminating one for Mastery of Shaping)
(1) GM: And you arrive at a destination of your choosing.
** (4) Kibin is teleported again. And looks around to see where he's at. **
(11) Kaylin: (wherever it is we're supposed to go when we've grabbed all the stuff)
(1) GM: Top of the right mountain, then.....
(5) Elorin: (the mountain peak where the Great Wyrm Silver Dragon was waiting for us)
(1) GM: Quite tall, air's thin... Fort saves, everyone (except Kibin)
(11) Kaylin: Fortitude save: [1d20+14] -> [11,14] = (25)
(1) GM: And those currently inside the portable hole, as it hasn't been opened yet.
(4) Kibin: (And the cow. The cow doesn't need to breath.)
(5) Elorin: (those inside the portable hole have Necklaces of Adaptation)
(1) GM: That too.
(1) GM: But also - portable holes have a little air of their own, refreshed whenver they are opened. The Neclaces are only needed for things lasting more than a little while.
(4) Kibin: Okay, we're here with the soon to be live again cow, the golden cow, and the feather.
** (4) Kibin folds out the portable hole for them to get out. **
** (5) Elorin drifts up as a cloud, then solidifies **
(1) GM: Colossal dragon: Oh? Show me the live cow, the gold cow, and the gold feather.
** (4) Kibin asks Elorin, "Can you help me with the feather?" **
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot jumps out. **
(4) Kibin: And of course, making the cow no longer stone.
(1) GM: Winddancer flys out, and Jason follows.
** (4) Kibin also takes out the gold cow. **
(11) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Stone to Flesh ( level 6, "Restores petrified creature." )
(1) GM: [1d20+7] -> [3,7] = (10)
(5) Elorin: No, Kaylin
(11) Kaylin: (what?)
(5) Elorin: Let me use Break Enchantment
(5) Elorin: Stone to Flesh can kill it
(1) GM: Initiative checks? Kaylin's and Elorin's.
(11) Kaylin: Oh...
(5) Elorin: (int check for Kaylin, too?)
(5) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [13,6] = (19)
(11) Kaylin: Dex check: [1d20+2] -> [1,2] = (3)
(11) Kaylin: (nice.)
(1) GM: Elorin - you see her start to cast, and interrupt in time, before she commits to the spell.
(11) Kaylin: (yeah, I think I'm failing a lot of int checks lately)
(5) Elorin: (hehe, happy about a nat 1? :P)
(5) Elorin: But first, to get the feather out of the hole
(4) Kibin: Okay, now can you do it safely?
(1) GM: (Nah, she gets Wisdom checks.....)
(11) Kaylin: Wis check: [1d20+2] -> [10,2] = (12)
(11) Kaylin: (ouch :P)
(5) Elorin: (hey! be consistent!)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: "Planning is not our strong suit..."
** (5) Elorin hops back in the hole and tries to pick up the feather **
(1) GM: (I am - when the player forgets something kinda improtant, it's a check on the lower of the two - Int or Wis. For Elorin and Kaylin, easy call.)
** (4) Kibin helps Elorin, using alternate form to be a bear for a little more strength. **
(5) Elorin: Kibin, I could use a little help here
(1) GM: When one player remembers and another doesn't, it's initiative to see if the one that remembered mentions it in time.
(11) Kaylin: (just never make me do a Str check please)
(5) Elorin: Ok, now turn gaseous together so it'll change with us...
(1) GM: Dragon: Oh, I can reach.... it's just a feather....
(1) GM: Jason reaches down into the portable hole and lifts it easily.
(1) GM: Dragon, not Jason; sorry.
** (4) Kibin just goes out and turns to normal, then. "Anyway, there's the items." **
(4) Kibin: Was there supposed to be that giant floating eyeball guarding the golden cow?
(5) Elorin: (Jason could do it too with Telekinesis, actually)
(4) Kibin: Well. Eyeball head thingie.
(5) Elorin: Ok, there's the gold cow and feather
(5) Elorin: Now for the live cow
(1) GM: Dragon: Wow. I do belive this is the first time anyone actually fetched a feather actually made of gold. Normally, they just hunt down one of the gold finches native to these parts.....
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Break Enchantment ( level 5, "Frees subjects from enchantments, alterations, curses, and petrification" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 5 Spell ( level 5, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(5) Elorin: [1d20+15] -> [14,15] = (29)
(11) Kaylin: (*STAB*)
(5) Elorin: (lol)
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot falls over laughing. **
(1) GM: Kaylin, what's your caster level?
(4) Kibin: Uh.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Cause except for the faling over part, that's what I did)
(11) Kaylin: (16)
(11) Kaylin: (Well... 15 wiz/ 1 archamge...is that 16 caster level?)
(4) Kibin: Sorry about that?
(1) GM: Yep.
(5) Elorin: What can I say? We're overachievers.
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot is still laughing. **
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Well, not really)
(1) GM: (You have no idea how long I was waiting for that joke....)
(11) Kaylin: (hehehe)
(4) Kibin: (Hehe.)
(5) Elorin: (and with the other gold feather so recent, of course none of us thought to check...)
(4) Kibin: So... what now?
** (8) Eldon Quickfoot starts stopping laughing **
(1) GM: Colossal Dragon: The cow?
(1) GM: Colossal: Ah, yes ... I'm getting a little forgetful in my old age....
** (5) Elorin succeeded on the dispel check already **
(1) GM: The colossal dragon examines it.
(1) GM: Dragon: A wild Bison? Really nice cow.
(4) Kibin: (Please be okay...)
(1) GM: Dragon: Looks tasty.
(5) Elorin: Snatched from the wilds of... what was that plane, Kaylin?
(11) Kaylin: Some other plane?
(1) GM: The dragon quickly reaches over, and bites it in half.
** (11) Kaylin blanches and hides behind a rock **
** (4) Kibin blinks, confused. **
whispering to Kaylin, Outer nature plane # 311768, technically.
(1) GM: The dragon swallows half of it.
** (5) Elorin thinks the items weren't actually required for a ritual of some sort, but were just to test our abilities **
(4) Kibin: So, uh, what now?
(1) GM: Dragon: Ah, delicious. Rest of it's for you, Kibin. Congratulations on your first proper hunt.
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (BRB)
(1) GM: Dragon: Oh, right.....the dragon waves the feather over Kibin's Head.
(1) GM: Dragon: You have demonstrated that you can hunt, that you can gather, and that you can seek; you are deemed worthy to join the tribe.
(1) GM: Dragon: Oh.... and I get to keep the feather. Really nice, that....
(1) GM: Dragon: Normally it's just a bother .....
** (4) Kibin thinks, "..." **
** (11) Kaylin continues to not be sick behind a rock **
** (5) Elorin thinks Kibin is going down in the record books with a note something like those aspiring Archmages that completely took down the Prismatic Wall get :P **
(1) GM: Dragon: Well, dig in. In a couple of years, when you're older, we'll let you in on some of the clan secrets. Meanwhile, if you find you need shelter.....
(1) GM: The dragon pulls two small orbs, one red, one white, out of a pouch at her side.
(1) GM: She then hands them to Kibin.
** (4) Kibin takes the orbs, wondering what they are. **
(1) GM: Dragon: ... aid, or advice, call. The red is an alarm - use that one when you expect to die in short order without aid; you'll need to cut yourself, and have the blood drip on the orb. Don't abuse it. The white is less urgent, and needs only be squeezed by one of the clan.
(1) GM: Dragon: Someone will show up eventaully, if you wait long enough.
(1) GM: Dragon: We are, however, greedy by nature; don't expect true freebies.
(4) Kibin: I think I understand.
(4) Kibin: (And now it's time to go.)
(1) GM: Good ending for the quest?
** (4) Kibin found the F4 macro key **
(4) Kibin: Disconnecting from server...
(4) Kibin (exit): 20:03
(1) GM:
(5) Elorin: (The "ceremony" was a bit of an anticlimax, but the feather joke more than made up for it. And the reward is pretty decent)
(11) Kaylin: (yeah)
(1) GM: Good spot for a curtain call for the night....
(5) Elorin: (It'll be nice having backup if we ever get desperate)
(11) Kaylin: (indeed.)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (If unreliable backup)
(11) Kaylin: (see you on the forums :)
(5) Elorin: (how so?)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: (Bye)
(11) Kaylin: Teleport to home...
(11) Kaylin (exit): 20:05
Server Administrator-> Closing Server....
(5) Elorin: (I expect the red orb brings a dragon or two teleporting in pretty much instantly)
(8) Eldon Quickfoot: ('Don't expect true freebies')
(5) Elorin: (so we have to pay them afterwards)
(5) Elorin: (how's that make it unreliable?)
Game disconnected!
