Remanants of the PFLO forces retreated. You wiped sweat from your face. It was a hard fight. The guerillas were much more determined and agressive than anybody had thought.

Despite years of training, you were not prepared for the sight of your own soldiers - your friends - dying right before your eyes. You keep thinking - what if you acted different? Was there any way you could have avoided this?  Unfortunately, you will never know.

Today's battle brought to mind other questions, too. Assabe was big and wealthy village - but it was certainly not rich enough to risk losing entire company, not to mention countless vehicles, in what seemed to be a suicidal attack.

Your forces managed to capture some prisoners - quick interrogation revealed that their target was not the village, but UNIFE soldiers themselves. Unfortunately, none of the captured rebels knew the reasons behind this attack.
