Ethiopia, Adis Ababba, 10th May 2013. UNIFE Headquarters.
**
The air in room was hot and dry. When the guard let you inside, General Pietraszewski was sitting at his desk, reading reports.
**
"At ease, Captain" he said. "We have a new assignment for you."
**
"We need to strengthen our presence in the Ogaden area. We had lot of trouble there recently - it seems that the PFLO is rearing its ugly head once again. Two days ago, they attacked a humanitarian aid convoy, and yesterday they torched two villages near Kassala. The Ukrainians are doing what they can, but they can't be everywhere at once. That's where you come in. I'm sending your company to Kassala, where you will work as a rapid responce force for colonel Josif Kleszczak. You have worked with him before, he's a good commander.
**
And one more thing - try to avoid getting into trouble, but don't be afraid to use force if neccesary. I don't want a repeat of Srebrenica. That's all. Go prepare your unit, you will recive official orders shortly."
**
Three hours later you were sitting in your Humvee, driving to Ogaden.
**
For one last time you checked the list of assets avaiable at your disposal. Because of the situation in Ethiopia UNIFE units were not able to operate at their usual composition. Your unit was nominally a light mechanized infantry company - but in reality, it was a quite odd mix of troops taken from diffrent units, with more types of equipment than a typical brigade. It was a logistic nightmare to keep such force operational - but in exchange, you got a unit capable of completing almost every kind of mission UNIFE might face.
 **
Your main forces were two platoons of mechanized infantry, riding in Rosomak APCs. Unfortunately, only two of six Rosomaks were configured as IFVs - the rest were just armored boxes, armed only with HMGs on remote controlled turrets. The third platoon, an infantry unit, was a typical COIN patrol - lightly armed fast infantry, driving three Skorpion V light pickup trucks. Next, there were two EOD squads, three machinegun teams, two 60 mm mortars, and two snipers. Quite a capable force, you thought, far stronger than any average infantry company.
**
The infantry was supported by two modernized PT-91 tanks. With their heavy cannons and advanced IR sights, you thought of them as your strongest assets, being capable of taking head-on any enemy vehicle you could ever encounter in the whole of Africa.
**
Then come the scouts - three BRDMs, including a single Zbik-B, armed with a AT-5 ATGM launcher. You do not expect to encounter any target worth a missile - but as old saying goes, "it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it."
**
The same was true about your air defences. Althrough meeting any enemy aircraft was highly unlikely, you were provided with a Star Hibernyt Gun Truck, armed with ZU-23-2 twin barelled autocannon. It was capable of fighting any aerial threat - and providing heavy fire support to ground troops. As if this wasn't enough, you were also asigned a two Grom MANPADs.
**
Along with fightng units, there was a logistic tail following. Heavy Jelcz and lighter Star 266 trucks, carrying ammo, water, food and fuel, armored Rys-Med ambulance, with field medic section, cooks, mechanics, and so on.

---- 13th May 2013. 0730 hours. UNIFE camp near Assabe. ----
**
You were sitting in the tank's shadow, eating breakfast, when your radio operator approached you.
**
"Colonel Kleszczak is on the horn. He says it's urgent."
**
You ran to your humvee, and picked up radio set headphones.
**
"Wagner here, sir. Im listening."
**
"Captain, you need to get on the move. Our helicopter pilot spotted a company sized motorized column in your area."
**
"Rebels?"
**
"They fired at our chopper despite UN markings, so we can assume they are not friendly. PLFO most likely. It's just blind luck we spotted them - one of our men stepped on an AP mine, and we called a chopper to get him to the hospital in Addis Abeba."
**
"Where they were headed?"
**
"Judging by the size of their forces, their most probable target is Assabe - it's the largest and wealthiest settlement in the area. They wouldn't need so many soldiers if they were planning to attack any of the smaller villages. "
**
"Your orders are to move to Assabe ASAP and take defensive positions around the village. We hope your presence will be enough to scare them away, but if not, you can use force as you see fit. Remember, these people are probably responsible for at least five recent raids on local vilages. "
**
"Yes, sir. We are on it."
**
"I'm glad to hear it. And. . . good luck, Andrzej. Kleszczak, out."
**
You called your squad leaders.
**
"All right, gentleman. Check your gear, and get your men ready for fight. We are going to Assabe."
