Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.
Session is schedualed for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.

(4) Kibin (enter): 09:57
(4) Kibin: Was looking all over openRPG for you...
(4) Kibin: Hmmmm, to include status effects in my name or not.
(4) Kibin: Hello?
(3) Jack Simth: Hello.
(3) Jack Simth: Was off at breakfast.
(4) Kibin: Ah, okay.
(4) Kibin: Interesting variant
(4) Kibin: As far as I can tell, it's exactly the same as normal D&D, except that the players roll most of the dice instead of the GM.
(4) Kibin: There's also a hex variant. :)
(4) Kibin: Here
(4) Kibin: Ooo, hexes.
(4) Kibin: I'm sick, and had a lot of time, so I read a lot more of the D&D stuff. :P
(3) Jack Simth: It doesn't distinguish between Tall and Long, though.
(4) Kibin: Hmmm, true.
(5) Elorin (enter): 10:07
(3) Jack Simth: Greetings.
(4) Kibin: Did you know that trees count as slender pillars? A creature in the same space as a tree gets a +2 cover bonus to armor class, and a +1 cover bonus to reflex saves.
(5) Elorin: (I need to go eat lunch. I'll be back in 15-20 minutes, I think)
(3) Jack Simth: Enjoy.
(4) Kibin: Being the top person in a spiral staircase also gives you that same bonus as a slender pillar, apparently. As well as a +1 to hit since you're higher.
(4) Kibin: Also, any type of cover prevents AoO's against you.
(4) Kibin: Which don't apply to slender pillars, apparently, since it just gives you a cover bonus and not actual cover. Cover gives you a +4 to ac, plus a +2 for reflex saves.
(4) Kibin: Of course, that cover bonus isn'r much use against area effect spells like a fireball. Unless the fireball originates from a point on the opposite side of you and the pillar.
(3) Jack Simth: In D&D, arrow slits have a VERY good reason for being slits, and Giants have good reason for not building castles that are simply scaled up.
(4) Kibin: Improved cover also grants improved evasion to any attack in which the reflex save bonus applies.
(4) Kibin: So even on a failed save, if you get that reflex save bonus with improved cover, you only get half damage.
(4) Kibin: Improved cover ALSO gives +10 to hide checks...
(4) Kibin: Apparently, any attack through a square occupied by a creature goes through cover as well.
(4) Kibin: So if Elorin is firing from a distance, and me or Eldon is in the way, then Elorin has to effectively fire through cover.
(4) Kibin: Isn't it amazing what I do when sick/bored? :P
(6) Lae'nial (enter): 10:18
(4) Kibin: Hey, that's another reason for spiral stairs. Makes it a lot easier to defend. O.o
(3) Jack Simth: An arrow slit, two inches wide and five feet tall, breaks line of effect for spells (they need a full square foot, and that only provides 120 square inches), but can still be fired through..... and provided very good cover.....
(3) Jack Simth: Greetings.
(3) Jack Simth: Elorin's having lunch.
(4) Kibin: Oh wait. That's consided as 'soft cover' if it goes through a square where a creature is standing.
(4) Kibin: +4 to AC only against ranged atttacks. Doesn't allow you a hide check, or reflex bonus.
(6) Lae'nial: (OogSnore)
(3) Jack Simth: Fireballs can still sneak through, though, with a ranged touch attack vs. the AC of the arrow slit......
(4) Kibin: Yup.
(4) Kibin: Tapestries provide total concealment if they're hanging from the ceiling.
(4) Kibin: Well, if the character is at the ceiling.
(4) Kibin: If they're flush with the wall, they only provide concealment.
(4) Kibin: There's also rules for rope bridges. You can cut off the supporting ropes. :D
(3) Jack Simth: Yeah, the whole "outline" thing....
(4) Kibin: So many interesting things here that we having used.
(4) Kibin: I've gotta start using the terrain to my advantage more often.
(4) Kibin: Oh, I also thought of something neat. Paper walls with traps behind them. :)
(4) Kibin: I'm also surprised you haven't used magically treated walls yet.
(3) Jack Simth: When was the last time you tried to smash a wall?
(6) Lae'nial: (Room with ethereal beast)
(4) Kibin: Unless a plank of wood counts as a wall, never.
(3) Jack Simth: Disintigrated the door; unattended object, no save - it's gone. Granted, were it magic, rather than just created by magic, I suppose it could have gotten one, but....
(4) Kibin: Oh, did you know that while Jason is manifesting and an incorporeal creature, he can't travel through walls wider than he is?
(4) Kibin: Incorporeal creatures have to remain adjacent to the objects exterior.
(3) Jack Simth: Manifestation (Su): Every ghost has this ability. A ghost dwells on the Ethereal Plane and, as an ethereal creature, it cannot affect or be affected by anything in the material world. When a ghost manifests, it partly enters the Material Plane and becomes visible but incorporeal on the Material Plane. A manifested ghost can be harmed only by other incorporeal creatures, magic weapons, or spells, with a 50% chance to ignore any damage from a corporeal source. A manifested ghost can pass through solid objects at will, and its own attacks pass through armor. A manifested ghost always moves silently. A manifested ghost can strike with its touch attack or with a ghost touch weapon (see Ghostly Equipment, below). A manifested ghost remains partially on the Ethereal Plane, where is it not incorporeal. A manifested ghost can be attacked by opponents on either the Material Plane or the Ethereal Plane. The ghost’s incorporeality helps protect it from foes on the Material Plane, but not from foes on the Ethereal Plane.
(4) Kibin: Or, it could be different for ghosts.
(3) Jack Simth: Local to creature listings ovverride global listings of the ability when they contradict.
(4) Kibin: Yup, which is why I have glorious 120 foot darkvision. :)
(4) Kibin: And immunity to all sleep and paralysis effects, and not just magical ones.
(4) Kibin: Of course, that doesn't exactly conflict...
(3) Jack Simth: He's still on the Ethereal plane, so he's still and Ethereal creature, and so there's a mild contradiction in that he's simultaneously incorporeal (can't go through thick walls) and ethereal (can go through thick walls); text of Manifestation specifies which should be used.
(4) Kibin: I see.
(4) Kibin: D&D requires a lot of reading. :P
(4) Kibin: Such as, polymorphing effects when they wear off don't rip anything that can't fit in the original form. They just fall to the ground.
(3) Jack Simth: Even if it used the other, it would just take longer, as Manifestation is at will - drop manifestation after hitting the limit of how deep into the wall, manifest again on the other side.
(4) Kibin: And Alternate Form doesn't have any type of equipment merging like polymorph effects do.
(3) Jack Simth: Custom ring; not something you would normall build for lots of reasons.
(4) Kibin: So anything that can't be resized to fit the new form doesn't merge, it just falls to the ground...
(3) Jack Simth: Hmm... Elorin still out to lunch?
(4) Kibin: Yeah, I say just wait for him.
(4) Kibin: A few more minutes won't hurt. And I see they edited the alternate form ability to make more sense...
(4) Kibin: "Apply any changed physical ability score modifiers in all appropriate areas with one exception: the creature retains the hit points of its original form despite any change to its Constitution."
(4) Kibin: Lot more clearer now. :)
(4) Kibin: Oh, another interesting thing. "A creature using alternate form reverts to its natural form when killed, but separated body parts retain their shape."
(3) Jack Simth: But you still retain type, which is Silver Dragon.
(4) Kibin: Yeah...
(6) Lae'nial: (In a free-form system, you'd just specify what you wanted...)
(4) Kibin: I'll go read some more stuff while I wait.
(4) Kibin: Generic Classes?
(5) Elorin: (back)
(3) Jack Simth: Ready?
(4) Kibin: Something else I found!
(4) Kibin: Cienematic battles! :D
Moving to room 'D and D'..

Server Administrator->
Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.
Session is schedualed for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.

(4) Kibin (enter): 10:43
(4) Kibin: (Hehe. It converts hit points to vitality points, which represent how often you can convert a direct hit into a glancing blow.)
(4) Kibin: (Wound points are a lot more serious, and represents actual injuries.)
(5) Elorin (enter): 10:44
(4) Kibin: (So people get serious injuries a lot less.)
(4) Kibin: (Of course, a critical hit means it bypasses vitality points and damages wound points.)
(4) Kibin: (So a lucky hit could damage someone, even if they have a lot of vitality points.)
(6) Lae'nial (enter): 10:46
(3) Jack Simth:

(4) Kibin: (If you take any wound damage, you get fatigued. Also, any time you get wound damage, you need to succeed on a fortutide save or get stunned for 1d4 rounds.)
(4) Kibin: (What happened last saturday while I was gone?)
(3) Jack Simth: When we last left our heroes, they were standing at the top of a ventilation shaft, reversed by some dwarves, contemplating descending into the darkness while interrogating a captured Gnomeish invader.
(3) Jack Simth: (:D)
(4) Kibin: (Reversed by some dwarves? O.o)
(3) Jack Simth: (To push smoke down into the caverns, rather than letting bad air out....)
(4) Kibin: (Ah, okay. Since when were we contemplating going down into the darkness?)
(3) Jack Simth: Gnome: Meh, doesn't matter, really. We'll settle this shard like we have all the others.
(6) Lae'nial: (I'm feeling a little sick - Might have to leave.)
(4) Kibin: (Eldon, don't forget to change your name?)
(4) Kibin: (Bah, I'm sick, and I came anyway. :P)
(4) Kibin: (*pokes Elorin, the unofficial leader of this group.*)
(3) GM: Gnome: Well, okay, we're still working on those nightmarish ones. They have a truely enormous infestation.....
(3) GM: Gnome: Couple of hundred guards working on them, rather than the standard score.
(3) GM: Gnome: Hmm.. maybe if I go to sleep here....
(5) Elorin: What kind of "nightmarish"?
(4) Kibin: I guess this is a no on the peaceful solution...
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: "They are nothing more than another variety of orc."
(3) GM: Gnome: Oh, beasts out of nightmare, changing shape, hostile air, pools of liquid rock, that kind of thing.
(4) Kibin: (Hey, what are orcs like in this setting?)
(3) GM: The Gnome lays down and closes his eyes.
(3) GM: Gnome: Most simply die when smashed, some also have to be drowned..... simple critters; much like molds.....
(3) GM: Gnome: Hmm... fast molds, though......
(3) GM: Gnome:
(4) Kibin: You die when smashed or drowned...
(3) GM: Gnome: (snore)
(3) GM: Gnome: No ... referring to a mold's ability to recover from being smashed, common amongs extremely lower life forms.....
(3) GM: Gnome: The glowy shards are nice... same problem, though....
(3) GM: Jason: So, what next?
(4) Kibin: Maybe see if we can go back to whatever dimension he comes from, to learn more?
(3) GM: Gnome: Good luck finding the center.....
** (4) Kibin says to the Gnome, "We could just bring you to make sure we don't get lost..." **
(3) GM: Gnome: Wouldn't work. I need careful insturctions to manage that thing. We're all told to find the center if we get lost; it goes home. Hard to find, though, I never did really get a good grasp on how to navigate. Confusing.
(5) Elorin: What is this "center"?
(4) Kibin: Okay, we bring either Kaylin or Eldon along. No problem.
(3) GM: Gnome: Oh, it doesn't really matter too much, I suppose. We don't just pop from one shard to the next; our home shard is in the center of the honeycomb like complex; it's got a floor portal just like the rest, and isn't marked any differently. Makes for easy travel from one shard to the next, once our (untranslatable) finally figured out how to reliably navigate the Corridors.
(3) GM: Gnome: Once our (untranslatable) figured out how to reliably get through and back, we found the bones of quite a few of the initial explorers; they'd starved to death, after having marked where they started and never found it again.
(4) Kibin: Okay then, where do we get to this place, and how do we navigate it?
(5) Elorin: (OOC, I would guess the the "Corridors" are the Astral Plane or something very similar, but Elorin doesn't have that kind of knowledge)
(3) GM: Gnome: In the Corridors, it's a big glowy hole in the floor; at the Shard, it's a big glowy hole in the cieling. I don't know how to navigate it. I just follow my instructions, as inane as they are.
(3) GM: Gnome: Won't be issued the return home instructions until it's time to return home.
(4) Kibin: And these instructions are?
(4) Kibin: Ah, nevermind...
(3) GM: Gnome: Hmm.... how long until I wake up? This dream is boring.
(5) Elorin: Hmm, a "couple hundred" is all they send to deal with a "truly enormous infestation"...
(5) Elorin: Why is it that you don't send more?
(5) Elorin: Just because they aren't needed, or because you don't have the resources?
** (4) Kibin does a light slash against the gnomes leg. Pain usually wakes him up from his dream... (1 point of damage, if it matters.) **
(3) GM: Gnome: YOUCH!
(5) Elorin: Kibin, why'd you do that?
(3) GM: Gnome: Oww.... uh oh.......
(4) Kibin: Well, now he knows it's not a dream?
(3) GM: Gnome: Umm... hmm......
(3) GM: Gnome: Well, if this isn't a dream, can I at least get my stuff back?
(4) Kibin: (And this is why I said slash him back to reality a couple of weeks ago.)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: "No."
(5) Elorin: You expect us to trust an invader with equipment that we don't know what it does?
(3) GM: Gnome: Oh relax, would you? All the dangerous stuff was apparently left back with the (untranslatable).
(3) GM: Gnome: Nothing in there that could possibly hurt you.
whispering to GM, [1d20+6] -> [13,6] = (19)
(4) Kibin: Or help you escape from us?
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: "The problem is, I don't trust you, I don't like you and quite frankly, if you dropped dead I'd cheer."
(3) GM: Gnome: Ah. So I porbably shouldn't mention the (untranslatable) we all swallow when on a foreign shard, then.
(4) Kibin: Uh. Probally not...
(3) GM: Gnome: Okay.
(5) Elorin: (too bad I don't have Zone of Truth or Detect Thoughts :( )
(4) Kibin: (Too bad you also don't know about Eldon's amazing sense motive check. :)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+19] -> [11,19] = (30)
(3) GM: Gnome: Can I get my (untranslatable) back at least? If this isn't a dream, I'd rather not be without it for too long..... how long has it been, anyway?
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (You might have to prompt me, a bit - The sicker I feel, the more my IQ drops.)
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, He's not bluffing about the thing in his stomach, and seems worried about it himself.....
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: "He's truely worried about the thing in his stomach."
(4) Kibin: (Heh. The sicker I am, the higher my IQ is, it seems. When you're bored, you do a lot more stuff that you wouldn't even think of trying... Or sick.)
(3) GM: Listen checks?
(4) Kibin: Uh, what is this thing in your stomach?
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (/me envies you.)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [20,18] = (38)
(5) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [13,10] = (23)
(4) Kibin: (Woot! NATURAL 20!)
(3) GM: Gnome: We're above ground, right?
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20] -> [10] = (10)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: "Yes..."
whispering to Kibin, You hear a faint rumble from deep underground.
(3) GM: Gnome: And I don't have my (untranslatable) on...... joy.
** (4) Kibin looks down at the ground. "Uh, what's that?" **
whispering to Kibin, Directly beneath your feet.
(5) Elorin: And why is this a problem?
** (4) Kibin scoots back some. **
** (6) Eldon Quickfoot also scoots back. **
(3) GM: Gnome: Oh, I suppose it won't matter much.
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Don't know what's happening, but rule of thumb - If the rogue runs...)
(3) GM: Listen checks?
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20] -> [12] = (12)
(5) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [20,10] = (30)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [8,18] = (26)
whispering to Elorin, Kibin, You hear a rumble from deep underground. It's faint.
whispering to Kibin, But not as faint as the first.....
(4) Kibin: Ooookay. Mind telling us what this rumbling is?
(3) GM: Gnome: Rumbling? Oh, they're probably on their way, then. Straight for me. Without my (untranslatable).
(4) Kibin: (By the way... Complex skill checks!)
(3) GM: Gnome: (sigh).
(3) GM: Listen checks?
(5) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [6,10] = (16)
(4) Kibin: I'm guessing that last word was your suit of armor or something.
whispering to Elorin, That rumbling is getting louder and louder.... directly beneath your feet.
** (5) Elorin moves back **
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20] -> [8] = (8)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [8,18] = (26)
(3) GM: Gnome: Armor? Oh, much more than that.
whispering to Kibin, That rumbling is getting louder and louder.... directly beneath your feet.
** (4) Kibin scoots back some more, away from the gnome. **
(3) GM: One more listen check.....
(5) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [10,10] = (20)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20] -> [16] = (16)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [13,18] = (31)
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, You finally hear it - a rumbling directly beneath the gnome; seems quite loud, now.
(3) GM: The rumbling is now quite loud.
(3) GM: Reflex saves?
(4) Kibin (whispering): Still directly under my feet?
** (5) Elorin takes off flying **
(4) Kibin: [1d20+21] -> [8,21] = (29)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+14] -> [16,14] = (30)
(5) Elorin: Reflex save: [1d20+21] -> [18,21] = (39)
(4) Kibin: (Weeeeeeeeeee!)
(3) GM: [1d20+1] -> [3,1] = (4)
(4) Kibin: (Was going to fly above the ground after that rumbling noise...)
(3) GM: The ground rumbles, and collapses underneath the gnome, and he falls down a hundred feet into a hole that wasn't there previously, screaming all the way.
(3) GM: Everyone else gets away handily.
(4) Kibin: (Don't suppose there's a way for me to save the gnome?)
(5) Elorin: Oops. Well, at least I don't think he'll be telling anyone about anything we revealed to him.
(3) GM: Initiative checks?
(5) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [10,6] = (16)
(3) GM: Dex check: [1d20+5] -> [19,5] = (24)
(3) GM: [1d20+3] -> [12,3] = (15)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+3] -> [5,3] = (8)
(4) Kibin: (Well that sucked.
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+6] -> [8,6] = (14)
(3) GM: Jason, Elorin, Critter, Eldon, Kibin.
(4) Kibin: (Good thing it's nearly impossible for me to lose my dexterity bonus.)
(3) GM: Out of the hole, a large, metallic thing, roughly shaped like a human but with odd mechanical contrivances flies up out of the hole on a pillar of very loud flame.
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+8] -> [18,8] = (26)
(3) GM: Jason reaches his hand out like he would to grapple something, and looks confused as nothing happens.
(4) Kibin: (*shall go by the rule of not doing anything, even speaking, until he gets a turn this time around.)
(5) Elorin: Hey Jason, think you could grab the pilot out of that thing?
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Does Eldon discover Newtons' laws?)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: ( :D )
(4) Kibin: (No, you need a concussion from an apple to do that.)
(3) GM: Elorin?
(3) GM: There's a blood splatter on the metal monstrosity.
** (5) Elorin starts shooting at it, trying to guess where the pilot chamber might be and aiming for that (if we actually have mechanics for that), activating Haste first **
(5) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+32] -> [1,32] = (33)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [6,2,6,17,0] = (31)

(3) GM: Let's see... what's the breakdown on that damage?
(5) Elorin: (+1 to hit from haste)
(5) Elorin: (the 2d6 is the holy, which I assume does not apply)
(5) Elorin: (everything else should work)
(3) GM: Humor me; what's the exact breakdown.
(4) Kibin: (I wonder how quick a disable device check for this would be.)(
(4) Kibin: (And what's the +0 modifer for? O.o)
(5) Elorin: (1d8(base) + 2d6(holy) + 2(weapon spec) + 1(point blank) +1(bracers of archery) +6(divine favor) +2(strength) +5(enhancement))
(3) GM: Arrow type?
(5) Elorin: (the +0 is what OpenRPG stuck in for strength since, as far as I know, there's no way to specify a bow as being composite and allowing a strength bonus)
(5) Elorin: (first normal, then switch to adamantine, then try silver and cold iron if that doesn't work)
(3) GM: First arrow barely scratches the thing, second and remainder (adamantium arrows) do much better. [4+17+21+14] -> 56
** (4) Kibin assumes this means that it's probally useless for him to try damaging that thing. **
(3) GM: The thing skyrockets on it's pillar of flame sixty feet up into the air, and a loud retort is heard.
(3) GM: Elorin, what's your Touch AC?
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (It was a rogue who figured out how to open them...Or so I gather...)
(3) GM: [1d20+15] -> [12,15] = (27) for [10d6] -> [5,1,1,2,4,4,5,3,4,4] = (33)
(4) Kibin: (Really? Hmmmm.)
(5) Elorin: (touch AC 17, I think)
(3) GM: You feel like you got hit by a lance at full chage, and take 33 damage. Can't see what did it, though, although there's a little hole in your armor....
(5) Elorin: (Heroes' Feast: [1d8+10] -> [3,10] = (13))
(4) Kibin: (I'm glad I have about 100 HP.
(3) GM: Right where it hurts.....
(3) GM: Eldon?
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Just a second)
(4) Kibin: (95 HP at least.)
** (5) Elorin grunts with pain, but doesn't stop (It would take 4 more of those to kill me, and I've got plenty of healing) **
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: Shortbow: [1d20+26] -> [3,26] = (29), [1d20+21] -> [7,21] = (28), [1d20+16] -> [10,16] = (26), [1d20+11] -> [7,11] = (18), Damage: [1d4+2d6+2d6+2+8+5] -> [2,2,1,6,5,2,8,5] = (31), [1d4+2d6+2d6+2+8+5] -> [4,4,3,1,4,2,8,5] = (31), [1d4+2d6+2d6+2+8+5] -> [1,4,1,1,6,2,8,5] = (28), [1d4+2d6+2d6+2+8+5] -> [4,6,4,2,4,2,8,5] = (35)
(3) GM: What's the breakdown on that damage?
(3) GM: And what kind of arrows are you using?
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hmm...Not quite sure about that. Normal.)
(3) GM: *sigh* how's your bow enchanted?
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Holy, ghost touch, flaming. 2d6 was from precise strike (I copied over my rapier) and doesn't apply.)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Flaming wouldn't be on because it has to be activated.)
(3) GM: So 2's strength, 5's from Greater Magic Weapon; what's the 8 from?
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Also, +4 from Elorins weapon enchantment thing)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Or +5. I'll take that. :) )
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (I think that's Int damage, but I'm not sure it applies)
(4) Kibin: (I'm assuming magic doen't work on it.)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Can a shortbow work with weapon finesse?)
(3) GM: (Bows are dex based anyway)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yeah, but if I can use weapon finesse with it, the +8 damage stays.)
(3) GM: It's a ranged weapon, not a light weapon; sorry.
(4) Kibin: (Weapon finesse doesn't add dexterity to damage I though?)
(4) Kibin: (Thought*)
(3) GM: All your arrows bounce off it's steel plates.
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ok, so drop one +2d6 and drop one +8.)
(3) GM: (insightful strike class ability)
(3) GM: Kibin?
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Swashbuckler bonus - Int to weapon finesse weapon damage.)
(4) Kibin: (Bah.)
(3) GM: (AC 30)
(4) Kibin: ((Bah.)
(4) Kibin: (Okay then...
** (4) Kibin flies up to where the large machine is, follows it, and gets ready to see if he can figure out how to open that armor... **
(4) Kibin: (Basically hold an action to follow it, in preperation for a full-round check eventually?)
(4) Kibin: (Ready an action, at least.)
(3) GM: (You're flying up to be right next to it?)
(4) Kibin: (Uh... yeah?)
(4) Kibin: (Probally will regret it later...)
(5) Elorin: (I'm guessing it's hot near the rocket boosters...)
(4) Kibin: (I'd be above the rocket boosters. x.x)
whispering to Kibin, You manage to see a few seams that might mean something as soon as you reach it.
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Oh, about that Int check - Does Eldon get a clue how it works?)
(4) Kibin: (Besides, I have a ring of minor fire resistance. Resistance against fire, 10 points. :D)
(4) Kibin: (So I could theoretically go swimming in lava now, according to the rules.)
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, You can tell it doesn't look like it could manuever very well at all, at least when in the air.
(5) Elorin: (no, lava does 20d6 per round)
(5) Elorin: (you'd be toast)
(4) Kibin: (Since any resistance whatsoever removes enviromental damage.)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot (whispering): Can Eldon speak now?
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Sure.
(4) Kibin: ("An immunity or resistance to fire serves as an immunity to lava or magma. However, a creature immune to fire might still drown if completely immersed in lava.")
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: "Kibin - Low manueverability!"
whispering to Kibin, It also doesn't seem to have it's defenses responding properly.....
(4) Kibin: (Heh, yeah, I'd probally want to stay behind it.)
(4) Kibin (whispering): You mean the projectile weapon could possibly be rigged to backfire?
whispering to Kibin, It's still flat-footed somehow.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Oh. O.o
whispering to Kibin, And there are seams that look like they might be a little more sensitive.....
(4) Kibin (whispering): But no sneak attack damage against constructs...
(4) Kibin (whispering): Or maybe there is. Hmmm.
whispering to Kibin, Who said it was a construct?
whispering to Kibin, Oh, and could you roll sneak attack damage separately from normal damage?
(4) Kibin (whispering): Well, of course, machinery could be ruled as being able to be sneak attacked. Since they have 'vital' spots.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Gotcha. That will wait for my turn, since this turn will be spent following and then hovering.
(3) GM: Jason, still looking confused, gestures at the thing again, again to no effect.
(3) GM: Jason: But.... that works on golems, too.....
(3) GM: Elorin?
(4) Kibin: Hey Jason, I think this is a clue that it's immune to magic?
(3) GM: Jason: That's not magic!
(3) GM: Jason: It's Supernatural!
(4) Kibin: Meh, those still go away in an antimagic field.
(3) GM: Jason: That should work!
(3) GM: Elorin?
(4) Kibin: (PINCUSHION! :D)
** (5) Elorin continues the arrow barrage (all 5 adamantine this time) **
(5) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+32] -> [12,32] = (44)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [4,1,5,17,0] = (27)

(3) GM: Let's see.... all hit, [17+18+20+19+14] -> 88
(3) GM: The flames cut off from underneath the metal monster, and it drops like a rock, back down through the hole it came out of, as it shoots Elorin twice.
(3) GM: [1d20+15] -> [3,15] = (18), [1d20+15] -> [1,15] = (16), for [10d6] -> [2,4,6,3,2,1,3,2,5,4] = (32), [10d6] -> [5,3,1,3,4,2,2,3,3,4] = (30)
** (4) Kibin dives after the metal monster? **
(3) GM: Take an AoO.
(3) GM: Elorin - you said you had a touch AC of 17? One hit, 32 damage.
(4) Kibin: [1d20+23] -> [10,23] = (33) [1d6+6] -> [5,6] = (11) [8d6] -> [5,6,6,6,2,1,2,5] = (33)
(3) GM: Again you feel like you got hit by a lance at full charge, and another little itty bitty hole appears in your armor......
** (4) Kibin bites a hopefully sensitive part of the machine as it travels down... **
whispering to Kibin, You can't discern any visible damage, but you do feel something pop .....
(3) GM: The monster falls through the hole, out of sight.
(3) GM: Eldon?
(4) Kibin: (Hey, I wonder if this could be like Gandalf and the Balor, as they both fall trading blows. :)
(5) Elorin: If we're going to be fighting many more of those, I need to stock up on adamantine arrows.
(5) Elorin: I'm down to 11 of them
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Int check to see if I can figure anything out from recent events - Perferably, it's weaknesses.)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+8] -> [2,8] = (10)
(5) Elorin: (brb)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (...I guess not.)
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Duh, what's a weakness?
(4) Kibin: (Anyway, do I manage to successfully follow it down?)
(3) GM: It's freefalling. It goes faster than you do that way.
(3) GM: By a lot.
(4) Kibin: (At my full speed going down, I go faster than freefalling...)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (...My advice is, don't do that.)
(3) GM: (You didn't have the actions left in your turn for a forced pump)
(4) Kibin: (Maybe...)
(4) Kibin: (And I probally don't want to follow it down.)
** (4) Kibin just stands above the hole, hovering then. **
(3) GM: And it's Eldon's tur still.
(3) GM: Eldon?
(3) GM: Doing something?
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Oh, right.)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Um...)
** (6) Eldon Quickfoot looks down the hole. **
(3) GM: It's very deep, and you can't see the bottom.
(4) Kibin: I suppose it would be suicidal for me to follow it...
(3) GM: The thing appeared to be retreating; you could see a few sparks coming out of the many arrow holes Elorin had put in it.
(4) Kibin: (To use a full round action to follow the mech thingie at 800 feet per round, or not to.)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (To stop, at the bottom, with great suddenness...)
(4) Kibin: (Eh, I can stop before I hit the bottom.)
(3) GM: I think he's referring to himself.....
(4) Kibin: (Of course, hitting the ground at that speed would bel ike hitting something at about 120 miles an hour.)
(3) GM: You would have a controlled flight.
(4) Kibin: (Hmmmmm. Force walls + flying = pain.)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (No, referring to Kibin.)
(3) GM: Ah. Well, anyone taking an action, or ending combat time?
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Nothing to do)
** (5) Elorin heals up **
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Critical Wounds ( level 4, "Cures 4d8 damage +1/level (max +20)" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(5) Elorin: [4d8+18] -> [5,1,1,4,18] = (29)
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Serious Wounds ( level 3, "Cures 3d8 damage +1/level (max +15)" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
** (4) Kibin flies back down to Elorin, landing. Looking down the hole like Eldon did. **
(5) Elorin: [3d8+15] -> [5,4,2,15] = (26)
whispering to Kibin, You can't see the bottom either.
whispering to Kibin, Nor the thing.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Nope, just about 60 feet farther than Eldon.
(3) GM: Looking down, you see a brief flash of light deep down in the hole.
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: "If we're lucky, that's it exploding..."
whispering to GM, Kibin/Eldon [1d2] -> [1] = (1)
(4) Kibin: (*watches The Chronicles of Narnia while roleplaying.*)
(3) GM: Kibin, what's your touch AC?
(5) Elorin: With any luck, the fall broke that thing and killed the pilot. But I'd rather not risk that it didn't and is coming back with friends soon.
(4) Kibin: (19? It's 20 plus dodge bonus against one selected opponent.)
(3) GM: [1d20+7] -> [8,7] = (15) for [10d6] -> [4,6,3,2,3,4,1,3,5,1] = (32)
(4) Kibin: (And since htat's the only opponent, probally against it.)
** (4) Kibin steps back before the bullet hits him. **
(4) Kibin: (Or the projectile. Whatever.)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: "It appears that it's still working."
(3) GM: A whisle goes past Kibin, and a few seconds later, a retort echos it's way up the hole.
(4) Kibin: (Woot! I'm neo!)
** (6) Eldon Quickfoot steps back from the hole and looks for a big rock... **
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (I wonder if anyone else is working on this problem...)
(5) Elorin: Either that's a deep tunnel and it's still falling, or it survived the impact or stopped before hitting. In any case, I'd rather not fight it again without more preparation.
(3) GM: Jason: Time to compare notes, then, perhaps back away from the breach?
(4) Kibin: Yeah, would probally be a lot easier to dodge if I was a little more dexterious...
** (5) Elorin starts flying away from the hole **
** (5) Elorin notices the holes in his armor and decides to do something about them **
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Mending ( level 0, "Makes minor repairs on an object" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 0 Spell ( level 0, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(4) Kibin: (Yeah, it'll be a lot harder hitting a touch AC of 24...)
(3) GM: The dwarves, over the shock of the battle, look at the new hole, frown, and get to work with picks.
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Could I take a feat to apply Insightfull strike against evil gnome robots?)
(3) GM: The dwarves seem to be attacking the stone in a large hole around the circle.
(4) Kibin: What are you doing?
(5) Elorin: (you mean a large circle around the hole?)
(3) GM: (List it separately, please)
(3) GM: (Right)
(4) Kibin: (Oh, and I get another feat at 18th level, right?)
(3) GM: Dwarves: Oh, in a few hours, we'll have this breach closed up, and will get back to pumping.
(3) GM: Yes, you grow an extra foot at 18th.
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (?)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah, thanks.)
(3) GM: I have my reasons.
(4) Kibin: (Huh? O.o)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Fighter level 2 bonus feet.)
(3) GM: Bad pun.
(4) Kibin: (Oookay. I don't see much of a pun in there, since it's going to be a year or so before I grow a foot.)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Although wouldn't that be a minimum of two extra feet?)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Or would that be four extra foot?)
(3) GM: (Feat -> Feet, singular foot)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Which leg?)
(4) Kibin: (I'm confused.
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Hello confused, I'm Narf.)
(5) Elorin: (foot as in the part of the body you put shoes on, not the unit of distance)
(4) Kibin: (I'm still confused.)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (I get silly when tired.)
(4) Kibin: (I wonder if the GM would let me take a spelltouched feat.)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Well, Eldon gets an extra feet(feat) at 18th.)
(3) GM: Possibly; depends on which one.
(3) GM: Anyway......
(4) Kibin: (Spelltouched feats!)
(4) Kibin: So... what now?
(3) GM: Jason: Well, obviously they are immune to supernatural ablities somehow.... nothing is......
(3) GM: Jason seems quite distraught.
(3) GM: Jason: Could be a freedom of movement effect, I suppose.... yes.... that makes more sense....
(4) Kibin: Well they do come from a plane or something where they don't know what magic is.
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: "Well, it's not every day we meet evil gnomes from another dimension who drive machinery.
(5) Elorin: Let's see, things we know about these machines... Most magic has no effect on them, though there might be exceptions (we should try Disintigrate some time), weapons need to be as hard as adamantine to really damage them, they can fly.
(5) Elorin: They can detect invisible things.
(5) Elorin: Hmm, Jason, did they notice you while you were still etherial when you went to kidnap that miner?
(4) Kibin: If you know the right place to damage them you can do some more damage to them, apparently...
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Breadth of knowledge looks good...)
(3) GM: Jason: Not that I could tell, at least, not until I manifested to take one over. Which is also a Supernatural ability. Hmm.....
(5) Elorin: It's possible to open them from the outside to get at the pilot, but we don't know how.
(5) Elorin: Hmm, get an army of ghosts to possess all the pilots... :P
(4) Kibin: I could probally figure it out after a bit of fiddling with one.
(3) GM: Jason: Well, there should still be an empty one at the bottom of the stairwell.
(5) Elorin: That one was empty?
(3) GM: Jason: Stairwell, not the hole; the one I stole the gnome out of, remember?
(5) Elorin: Oh, right.
(4) Kibin: I remember.
(5) Elorin: Was it alone, by any chance?
(4) Kibin: Eh, shouldn't be too much trouble to take one or two of those on.
(3) GM: Jason: Yeah. Put a few holes in the wall behind me. They seem to be watching the gates, but not particularly worried about them.
(4) Kibin: Maybe if we don't threaten them, they won't threaten us?
(3) GM: Jason: It put the holes in the walls when I appeared, not when I approached.
(3) GM: Dwarf: And tell that to us. They opened their hole in our homes with no warning that we could tell.
(4) Kibin: Yes, but apparently they just want to mine the ore. Or something.
(3) GM: Dwarf: Ah, yes, because ore always lasts forever and people that have shown no propensity for respecting others' homes make such nice neigbors.
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: "Excuse me, some of my companions havn't quite figured out that they are evil."
(5) Elorin: They seem to consider everything they encounter to be no more noteworthy than vermin except for the threat they might represent.
(4) Kibin: They don't think we're sentient.
(5) Elorin: So, we need to either defeat them or convince them otherwise.
(5) Elorin: The convincing option would probably require talking with their leaders, not an easy task considering we don't even know where they are except that it's some other plane.
(3) GM: Dwarf: If it's any help the glowy hole the go in and out of is close to the bottom of the stairwell we pump smoke down.
(4) Kibin: Well, seems like most of what you have to do is find the 'center' or something.
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: "Ruthless conquerers aren't know for their restraint..."
(5) Elorin: It's possible they don't realize what they're doing, but I'd rather not count on it.
(4) Kibin: It avoids us having to defeat 50 of those things? The pilots, at least.
(5) Elorin: So, empty suit at the bottom of the stairwell, not guarded by another one... I think we should go down and try to either get it out or study it on the spot.
(4) Kibin: Is the smoke still down there?
(3) GM: Jason: Yep.
(5) Elorin: We've still got the Necklaces of Adaptation for everyone but Rilyrr.
(3) GM: Dwarf: Should still be fairly thin; we don't expect to have all the air our for several years, and we only stared a few weeks ago.
(4) Kibin: I mean is it safe to breathe...
(5) Elorin: Put on your Necklace of Adaptation, and yes...
(3) GM: Dwarf: Well, it's not something you'd want to do for too long, as we're getting the most chocking smoke we can manage, but it can be for a little while.
** (4) Kibin hmmms. "Of course, not like anything to lose by not having this amulet of natural armor on me..." **
(5) Elorin: Armor doesn't seem to do much against those speeding balls of adamantium...
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: "Perhaps adamantium ore?"
** (4) Kibin takes off his amulet of natural armor, and then places it back on. Making the necklace of adaptation the active one. **
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: "Er, armor"
** (6) Eldon Quickfoot does the same. **
** (5) Elorin also switches amulets **
(3) GM: Rilyrr: If you think I'm going down into such a den of unnatural...;
(3) GM: Rilyrr sputters....
(4) Kibin: Okay, we leave the druid behind.
(3) GM: Rilyrr: You're sorely mistaken.
(3) GM: (Grr... timing.....)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Mmm, crackers.)
** (4) Kibin goes into the cave, then. Towards the stairs. **
(3) GM: Jason: Okay.
(3) GM: Jason follows.
(5) Elorin: Oh, and Jason, next time we encounter one of those machines still active, how about trying to take over the pilot?
** (6) Eldon Quickfoot follows **
(3) GM: Jason shudders.
(3) GM: Jason: I guess. Not something I really like to do, though.
(4) Kibin: Doesn't seem much different than a magical spell to take over someone...
(5) Elorin: It seems the most effective tactic at our disposal right now, though.
(3) GM: At the bottom of the stairs?
** (4) Kibin looks around for that suit of armor when everyone is at the bottom of the stairs. **
(3) GM: The smoke is rather thin, after getting out of the stairwell; the area is completely dark, and a large metallic beast, identical to the one you fought except for the damage and a symbol on it's shoulder stands still, doing nothing.
(3) GM: Or is anyone missing darkvision?
** (4) Kibin walks over to the metallic beast thingie, and looks for those seams again. **
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Nope)
(3) GM: And finds them, in the same place.
** (4) Kibin takes out his theieves tools, and sees if he can figure out how to open it. **
(3) GM: Open lock check?
(4) Kibin: [1d20+20] -> [6,20] = (26)
(3) GM: You can't seem to find anything that your lockpicks want to get a hold of.
** (4) Kibin goes try again? **
(4) Kibin: [1d20+20] -> [12,20] = (32)
(3) GM: You can't seem to find anything that your lockpicks want to get a hold of.
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Uh, my stomach is starting to organize a revolution...)
(5) Elorin: (take 20)
(4) Kibin: (Okay then. I suppose this means you can't unlock the lock with a lockpick.)
** (4) Kibin goes see if there's hinges or something he can remove... **
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Sorry, but I think I'm going to have to go lie down.)
(4) Kibin: (I also found out that on doors with hinges, a rogue can take apart the hinges instead of picking the lock. :)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot has sent you a tree node...
(3) GM: Sorry to see you go.
(3) GM: You don't find any accessable hinges.
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (GM should now have my character sheet - I havn't adjusted the skills yet; the non-fighter ones should be at -1.)
** (4) Kibin hmmms, and sees what else he could do to get it off... **
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Sorry to go. But if I stay upright too much longer...)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Did you get the sheet?)
(3) GM: Yep.
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ok, thanks, bye.)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: Disconnecting from server...
(6) Eldon Quickfoot (exit): 12:51
(3) GM: Taking 20?
(4) Kibin: (Meh. Much more fun to roll it and hope you get it earlier.)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+20] -> [1,20] = (21)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+20] -> [20,20] = (40)
(4) Kibin: (See? :)
(3) GM: After a little fiddling, you manage to convince it to open... and it carefully opens around the seams, revealing an oddly undulating wall of goo.
(4) Kibin: Oookay.
** (4) Kibin pokes the goo. **
(3) GM: Reflex save?
(4) Kibin: [1d20+21] -> [3,21] = (24)
(4) Kibin: (That sucked.)
(3) GM: The goo grabs Kibin, sucks him in, and the door closes behind him.
(3) GM: Sealing up as though it was never open.
** (4) Kibin thinks, "What the heck?" **
(3) GM: Kibin - what shape were you in?
(4) Kibin: (Perfect shape?)
(4) Kibin: (I was in the dragon shape.)
whispering to Kibin, You find you can breathe easily, but cant see or hear a thing.
(5) Elorin: Huh. Is that how they get inside to drive?
(4) Kibin (whispering): I look around to see if there's anything that they do that stuff with...
whispering to Kibin, You can't see or hear a thing; your blindsense tells you there's a semi-solid wall, similar to water, an inch from your face, and totally surrounding you otherwise.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Use alternate form into gnome shape, then?
whispering to Kibin, Works.
whispering to Kibin, As you shape yourself into a gnome, things come into better perspective; your head shifts up, your hands find something pushed up against them, and you suddenly get the impression you are wearing gloves. You see a very dark room, from a perspective you aren't used to, in a very odd set of colors.
(4) Kibin (whispering): I attempt to move one of my arms in the gloves?
whispering to Kibin, Make an intelligence check?
(4) Kibin (whispering): [1d20+2] -> [20,2] = (22)
(4) Kibin (whispering): Hehe. There are times when I love natural 20s.
whispering to Kibin, you hear a grinding, and your arm moves freely.
whispering to Elorin, The things arm moves.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Anything else?
whispering to Kibin, You see an oversized arm move into your view. Looks proportional to your perspective, though.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Okay then... I look around, see if I can spot any pattern in the colors?
whispering to Kibin, Int check?
(4) Kibin (whispering): [1d20+2] -> [15,2] = (17)
(5) Elorin: Kibin, whatever you just did moved the arm.
whispering to Kibin, The colors don't appear to mean anything.
whispering to Kibin, And you hear him.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Okay... I see if I can spot Elorin in the room?
whispering to Kibin, Yep; Jason looks really odd in the view, and is surrounded by an odd red color.
whispering to Kibin, You hear something in a language you don't understand.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Okay then. I try turning towards Jason, and figure out how to shoot the weapon?
whispering to Kibin, Two Int checks, please.
(4) Kibin (whispering): [1d20+2] -> [3,2] = (5) and [1d20+2] -> [20,2] = (22)
whispering to Kibin, You can't make the thing turn, but you do get the arm to fire.
whispering to Elorin, The thing's arm points at Jason, and a loud retort is heard.
whispering to Kibin, roll 1d20+15.
(4) Kibin (whispering): [1d20+15] -> [16,15] = (31)
(3) GM: There's a loud bang, and a hole appears in the wall behind Jason, as rock shatters.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Hehe, and what does Jason say about that?
(3) GM: Jason: Ah, I see you made that work.
(3) GM: Jason: Would you mind pointing that somewhere else? It's making me slightly nervous.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Okay, I try and point the gun a little to the right of him now, and then say out loud, "Can you hear me?"
whispering to Elorin, The things arm moves, pointing a little to Jason's right.
whispering to Kibin, You hear something in a language you don't understand. It seems rather demanding.
(4) Kibin (whispering): I say again, "I don't suppose you can understand a word I'm saying..." And then tries to figure out how to move this thingie again.
whispering to Kibin, You hear something in a language you don't understand. It sounds much like a commander giving orders to his men.
whispering to Kibin, How did you want to move it?
(4) Kibin (whispering): Moving the legs? Seemed to work for the arm.
whispering to Kibin, And it works.
whispering to Elorin, It starts walking around.
(5) Elorin: Ooh, good, can you make it go up the stairs?
(3) GM: Jason walks over to the metal monster, and sticks his head in.
whispering to Kibin, Jason's face pokes through your screen.
whispering to Kibin, Jason: What are you up to?
whispering to Kibin, And you hear Elorin just fine.
(4) Kibin (whispering): "Uh, apparently they just ordered their men to do something about me."
(3) GM: Jason yanks his head out of the metal beast.
(3) GM: Jason: Kibin says it's time to go.
(4) Kibin (whispering): I try moving this mechanized thingie up the stairs, then.
whispering to Kibin, Int check?
(4) Kibin (whispering): [1d20+2] -> [16,2] = (18)
(5) Elorin: (brb)
whispering to Kibin, You notice the stairs aren't large enough for the metallic body to walk through normally, but you do figure out how to make it crawl up, if you like.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Sure.
(3) GM: The big metal monster starts crawling up the stairs, making all of one mile per hour.
(3) GM: It blocks the stairwell pretty much completely.
(3) GM: After a few minutes....
whispering to Kibin, I need you to make an Int check, then roll 1d20+20
(3) GM: Elorin, make a listen check.
(4) Kibin (whispering): [1d20+2] -> [4,2] = (6) [1d20+20] -> [7,20] = (27)
whispering to Kibin, Some stuff shows up on the screen, but you can't make sense of it.
(3) GM: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [14,10] = (24)
(3) GM: Ah, right - Elorin's out.
(4) Kibin (whispering): So how far up the stairs am I now?
(3) GM: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+13] -> [10,13] = (23)
(3) GM: About halfway.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Oookay then. Back up the stairs.
whispering to Kibin, You hear some more talking in a language you don't understand.
(3) GM: After a while, you all reach the top of the stairs.
(4) Kibin (whispering): And I say to nobody whatsoever, "Dpn
(5) Elorin: (back)
(4) Kibin (whispering): And I say to nobody whatsoever, "Don't you have a translator or something?"
whispering to Kibin, Nothing happens.
whispering to Kibin, Do you happen to have Decipher Script?
(4) Kibin (whispering): Uh, no.
whispering to Kibin, A few unrecognizeable symbols flash across your vision.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Then I travel to where the dwarves are, hands up in the air so they don't slash me or something?
(3) GM: The dwarves were watching the tunnel.....
(3) GM: Seeing the odd apparition, the dwarves retreat as fast as their little legs can carry them.
** (5) Elorin flies after them, yelling "Don't worry, that's Kibin in there" **
(3) GM: Dwarves: You captured one?
(4) Kibin (whispering): Hehe. I try giving them a thumbs up signal?
whispering to Kibin, Make an Int check.
(4) Kibin (whispering): [1d20+2] -> [8,2] = (10)
(5) Elorin: It was empty and idle after Jason teleported its pilot out earlier, and Kibin managed to find how to get inside.
(3) GM: A loud retort is heard, [1d20+15] -> [5,15] = (20), for [10d6] -> [1,6,6,1,3,1,6,3,4,6] = (37)
(3) GM: And one of the dwarves stumbles and falls.
(5) Elorin: Huh?
(4) Kibin (whispering): Doh.
(3) GM: A big splash of red appearing on his back, and a fair amount of blood splatters the ground in front of him, too.
** (5) Elorin looks around for another one **
(5) Elorin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [10,10] = (20)
whispering to Elorin, You don't see one.
(3) GM: The dwarf shouts "Betrayed!" Then stumbles back to his feet and continues running.
(4) Kibin (whispering): That should go on RP biggest bloopers...
** (5) Elorin knocks an adamantine arrow, pointed at the machine **
(4) Kibin (whispering): Oookay. Now I stay as motionless as possible.
(3) GM: The machine stops moving.
(5) Elorin: What the hell? Has Kibin gone insane, or is that thing acting without his input?
(3) GM: Jason: I'll go check.....
(3) GM: Jason walks over and sticks his head into the thing.
whispering to Kibin, Jason: Okay, why did you do that?
(4) Kibin (whispering): "Uh, wrong button?"
whispering to Kibin, Jason: Ah. Umm... maybe you should see about getting out.
(4) Kibin (whispering): "Or I could avoid trying to give someone a thumbs up signal."
whispering to Kibin, Jason: Ah. Well, don't do that again, I guess.
(3) GM: Jason pulls his head back out of the body of the beast.
(3) GM: Jason: Apparantly, Kibin's just being a clutz.
(4) Kibin (whispering): :keeps the gun pointed away from any friendly targets from now on...
(4) Kibin (whispering): :also starts making his way out of the tunnels.
(5) Elorin: What kind of clutz shoots an ally?
whispering to Kibin, You've already reached the top, with opein air, outside already.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Oookay then. I check on what the hole is like now?
(3) GM: Jason: Apparently, one that's trying to make a reassuring gesture at someone when hitting the wrong button.
(3) GM: The hole the dwarves were working on is stil intact, although there are lots of cracks all around it, and th stone looks rather percarious.
(4) Kibin (whispering): I go away from everyone else, then, keep the gun pointed away from everyone, and work on figuring out how to fire those rocket boosters.
(3) GM: The cracks form a rather noticeable pattern.
(5) Elorin: (are any of the dwarves still here, or did they all run off?)
whispering to Kibin, Int check?
(3) GM: (They all ran off.)
(4) Kibin (whispering): [1d20+2] -> [18,2] = (20)
(3) GM: The mechanical beast takes to the air.
whispering to Kibin, Fly 120 (poor), with a side note that it can fly straight up. You applicable feats apply. Hover, for example.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Can I start posing regually for movements that I've done before, like walking, or flying around?
(3) GM: Great blasts of flame scorch the dirt, grass, and stone beneath the beast as it takes to the air.
whispering to Kibin, New int check every time, although simple walking around no longer requires a roll.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Why a new int check? :P
whispering to Kibin, Things change based loosely on the interface, and much of it is in telling the thing what you want it to do via your movements, which are far from practiced at this.
whispering to Kibin, Make an Int check, then roll 1d20+20.
whispering to Elorin, Listen check?
(5) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [14,10] = (24)
(4) Kibin (whispering): [1d20+2] -> [11,2] = (13) [1d20+20] -> [9,20] = (29)
whispering to Kibin, A few odd symbols flash across your vision.
whispering to Elorin, Under the sound of Kibin's flight, you hear similar sounds coming from the big pit in the ground.
(4) Kibin (whispering): That's all?
whispering to Kibin, Failed Int check.
(5) Elorin: Uh, Kibin, there's another one coming up!
(5) Elorin: Jason, can he hear what we say out here?
(4) Kibin (whispering): Can I hover in the air?
(4) Kibin (whispering): And then point the gun downwards at the ground...
whispering to Kibin, With the appropriet intelligence check each round to show the machine how, yes.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Okay...
(4) Kibin (whispering): [1d20+2] -> [1,2] = (3)
(4) Kibin (whispering): Well that sucked.
(3) GM: Kibin's Armor crashes to the ground, from sixty feet up. [12d6] -> [1,5,5,4,6,1,4,3,5,2,6,1] = (43)
(5) Elorin: (we really need a Telepathic Bond if we're going to keep doing this, unless Kibin can activate the external speakers or something)
(3) GM: And gets dented rather severely.
whispering to Kibin, A bunch of red symbols flash across your screen.
(4) Kibin (whispering): And now I try to stand up regually, and not tocuh the rocket boosts until needed...
(4) Kibin (whispering): boosters*
(3) GM: Kibin's beast stands up, without issue.
(3) GM: Two more metallic beasts, undamaged, fly out of the hole. roll for initiative.
(4) Kibin (whispering): "That was fun..."
(5) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [13,6] = (19)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+3] -> [18,3] = (21)
(3) GM: Dex check: [1d20+5] -> [13,5] = (18)
(3) GM: Beast 1: [1d20+3] -> [19,3] = (22)
(3) GM: Beast 2: [1d20+3] -> [13,3] = (16)
(3) GM: Oh, and Kibin - do you have Improved Initiative?
(4) Kibin: (No, no I don't.)
(3) GM: Then you use it's dex of 9; so that's a 17.
(4) Kibin: (A what?)
(4) Kibin: (Meh. :P)
(3) GM: Dex check: [1d20+5] -> [7,5] = (12)
(3) GM: Eldon: [1d20+6] -> [4,6] = (10)
(3) GM: Beasts 1, Elorin, Kibin, Beast 2, Jason, Eldon.
(3) GM: The first beast lands on the ground at the edge of the hole, and shoots at Kibin.
(3) GM: [1d20+15] -> [2,15] = (17) for [10d6] -> [5,6,6,3,5,4,2,4,6,4] = (45)
** (4) Kibin thinks, "Oh crud." **
(3) GM: [43-15+45] -> 73
whispering to GM, [162-73] -> 89
(3) GM: Elorin?
(4) Kibin: (So what exactly happened?)
(3) GM: Oh, right - there was a loud retort, and your beast shifted back an inch.
whispering to Kibin, And lots more red symbols flash across your vision.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Intelligence check to figure them out?
whispering to Kibin, Not for those, no.
** (5) Elorin sends half his remaining adamantine arrows at Beast 1 **
(5) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+32] -> [8,32] = (40)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [2,3,3,17,0] = (25)

whispering to Kibin, Decipher script, maybe, but not those.
(3) GM: All five hit, [15+20+18+14+16] -> 83
(3) GM: The arrows rip into the thing, but it doesn't stop. Lots of pretty sparks, though.
(5) Elorin: (so, which 4 points of non-holy damage aren't getting through?)
(3) GM: Part of a surprise, if it ever gets to that point......
(3) GM: Kibin?
(4) Kibin (whispering): Point my gun at beast two, try to shoot as many times as I can at it...
whispering to Kibin, Int check?
(4) Kibin (whispering): Please be high... [1d20+2] -> [12,2] = (14)
(3) GM: Kibin's metal beast waves an arm around, apparently saying hi to the newcomers.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Bleh.
(3) GM: The second metal beast, seeing the shrapnel put into it's companion, ignores it, and contiues to pound Kibin's beast.
(3) GM: It also lands on the edge.
(3) GM: [1d20+15] -> [13,15] = (28) for [10d6] -> [3,4,2,2,5,4,1,5,5,2] = (33)
whispering to Kibin, you hear a thump, and more red symbols flash across your vision.
** (4) Kibin thinks, "Crud, crud, crud." **
(3) GM: A loud retort is heard, and a flash of light comes from Kibin's beast.
(3) GM: Jason charges the undamaged one, and stops right next to it, ready to step in next round.
(3) GM: Eldon quickdraws and charges.
(3) GM: [1d20+28] -> [19,28] = (47) for [1d6+7] -> [5,7] = (12)
(3) GM: His blade sparks off the beast's plates, leaving no scratches, but briefly hits a thin gap.....
(3) GM: The damaged mech steps back and focuses it's efforts on Kibin.
(3) GM: [1d20+15] -> [4,15] = (19), [1d20+15] -> [2,15] = (17) for [10d6] -> [3,6,4,5,1,2,6,5,2,6] = (40), [10d6] -> [6,3,6,3,2,2,2,3,6,6] = (39)
** (4) Kibin imagines his mech blowing up in a big ball of fire.... **
(3) GM: Two quick retorts, and Kibin's mech is smashed to pieces, and vanishes from around him.
(3) GM: Dropping his current form, that of a gnome, onto the ground.
(3) GM: Tumble check?
(4) Kibin: (I have tumble? O.o)
(3) GM: You don't? Okay. [1d6] -> [2] = (2) falling damage, then.
(3) GM: Elorin?
** (5) Elorin focuses on finishing off the damaged one, but hopes we'll be able to capture the other intact **
(5) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+32] -> [20,32] = (52)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [2,2,1,17,0] = (22)

(3) GM: AC 30; Four hit, for [15+18+15+16] -> 64
(3) GM: Smoke pours from the arrow holes, but the monstrosity keeps moving.
(3) GM: Kibin? They are within range of a single move.
(3) GM: Of course, it takes a standard action to turn into an armed form....
(5) Elorin: (note, +1 to hit from Haste)
** (4) Kibin uses Alternate Form to go back to normal, and runs over behind the damaged mech. **
(3) GM: Ah, well, in that case, metal beast one pours out smoke, then vanishes from view.
(3) GM: No pilot falls from it.
(5) Elorin: (oh yeah, crit threat on the first one - does that matter?)
(5) Elorin: (might save an arrow or two, I've only got 1 left)
(3) GM: Not at this point, but do roll to confirm.
(5) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+32] -> [11,32] = (43)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [7,6,3,17,0] = (33)
(3) GM: Yeah; wouldn't have mattered.
(5) Elorin: (and again, just for the *3 damage)
(5) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (Point Blank) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+32] -> [7,32] = (39)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+17+0] -> [2,6,6,17,0] = (31)
(5) Elorin: (did it save any arrows?0
(3) GM: (No)
(3) GM: Metal Beast 2's turn....
(3) GM: It focuses on the dangerous beast that fell from the rogue ally.
(3) GM: [1d20+15] -> [19,15] = (34), [1d20+15] -> [11,15] = (26) for [10d6] -> [3,3,6,4,1,3,6,5,1,1] = (33), [10d6] -> [1,6,4,2,5,4,3,1,4,6] = (36)
(4) Kibin: (Ow. Pain.)
(3) GM: Kibin - Touch AC of 20, you said? Take 69 damage as you feel like you got hit by two lances at full charge. Simultaneously.
(3) GM: Jason attempts to step into the beast.....
(5) Elorin: (minus 13 for Heroes' Feast, since I think this is Kibin's first damage of the day)
(4) Kibin: (Yup.)
(3) GM: [1d20+1] -> [19,1] = (20)
(3) GM: And Jason's form merges with that inside the beast.
(4) Kibin: (So close for an automatic save of 20....)
(3) GM: (And yet, so far.....)
** (4) Kibin winces as the two projectiles fire through him. Ow, pain. **
(3) GM: Eldon, not seeing Jason thrown back out, steps back warily.
(3) GM: Int check: [1d20+2] -> [8,2] = (10)
(3) GM: The beast Jason steped into wiggles oddly.
(3) GM: Elorin?
(5) Elorin: I don't suppose Kaylin can teleport that thing somewhere? I'd rather not stick around for more of them to show up.
(5) Elorin: (meanwhile, let's deal with Kibin's wounds)
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) GM: Int check: [1d20+2] -> [11,2] = (13)
(3) GM: Jason's Beast: Can you hear me now?
(4) Kibin: No, we can't hear you.
(5) Elorin: Yes
(3) GM: Jason's Beast: This thing is annoying.... I mean really, how am I supposed to figure out how to do anything in here? Can't even tell whether or not someone can.... oh, you can hear me? Good. Bloody machinery.
(3) GM: Jason's Beast: Umm, i'm hearing voices. They don't sound particularly thrilled.
(4) Kibin: Yeah, they're not.
(5) Elorin: So these things include remote communication? See if you can turn that off, and we'd better get out of here soon.
(3) GM: Jason's Beast: First time, they sent one; second time, they sent two...... so, do you think it will be three or four next time?
(3) GM: Int check: [1d20+2] -> [19,2] = (21)
(4) Kibin: Seems logical.
(3) GM: Jason's Beast: Well, I can't hear them now.... hope that works both ways.
(3) GM: Jason's Beast: And tell me - what do we do in several hours when I lose my grip?
(4) Kibin: You dimension door him out, and I get back in there?
(3) GM: Jason's Beast: Ah, that should work.
(5) Elorin: I was figuring we'd see if Kibin can figure out how to force him out first
(5) Elorin: But before anything else, we should get far away from here.
(3) GM: Jason's Beast: Ah, right.
(5) Elorin: (brb)
(3) GM: Kaylin: Well, gather around for the teleport......
(3) GM: Kaylin: Where do we want to go?
(4) Kibin: The other side of the world?
(3) GM: Kaylin: Ah, you don't want to be anywhere near these things, I take it. Well, I can accomodate that....
(3) GM: Everyone gathers around, including Jason in his beast, and Kaylin Teleports.
Kaylin casts Teleport ( level 5, "Instantly transports you anywhere." )
Kaylin can cast Teleport 0 more times
(3) GM: [1d100] -> [68] = (68)
(3) GM: And everyone arrives safely... except Jason and the beast he was in. They stay behind.
(3) GM: Kaylin: Of course. Immune to magic. Why not the good stuff, too?
(4) Kibin: Go back and get just Jason?
(5) Elorin: (back)
** (4) Kibin looks around to see where he is. **
(3) GM: You find yourself in forest, seemingly in the middle of nowhere.
(4) Kibin: So, where exactly is here?
(3) GM: Kaylin: Fairly dense forest, about a mile from town; didn't want to startle anyone too much with the sudden appearence of something never before seen in the middle of town.
(3) GM: Kaylin: Not that he came.....
(4) Kibin: Ah, okay. Short flight, then...
(5) Elorin: (hmm, if the magic immunity works like golems (only immune if SR applies), then it should work if the caster is the one inside)
(3) GM: (Remember Jason's confusion?)
(4) Kibin: (Yeah, supernatural effects ignore spell resistance.)
(5) Elorin: (ok, so it's not moving anywhere except under its own power. That's a bit of a disappointment)
(4) Kibin: Okay, Kaylin, are you going to go get Jason or what?
(5) Elorin: (unless... how heavy are they?)
(3) GM: (You haven't had a chance to weigh one.)
(5) Elorin: (hmm, no, that wouldn't work either unless we got something with a really fast fly speed to help)
(4) Kibin: (*pokes NPC kaylin.*)
(3) GM: Kaylin: Slight problem... I don't have enough for two more trips.
(4) Kibin: Okay... We leave Jason alone?
(3) GM: Kaylin: He's pretty hard to kill, for long, anyway.
(4) Kibin: To the town then?
(3) GM: Kaylin: Yeah; maybe get something effective against these creatures.
** (4) Kibin flies overhead and circles the group, then. **
(4) Kibin: (*pokes Elorin*)
(3) GM: [1d100] -> [83] = (83)
(3) GM: [1d2] -> [1] = (1)
(5) Elorin: Got a Sending to let Jason know?
** (4) Kibin circles above the trees some more. **
(3) GM: Kaylin: Not at the moment, no.
(5) Elorin: Well, here's hoping he figures out we're not coming back and tries flying the thing off if he can.
whispering to GM, [1d20] -> [11] = (11)
(3) GM: Kaylin: Perhaps a scrying and message tomorrow, though......
(5) Elorin: (I was about to suggest that)
(5) Elorin: (but I guess she doesn't have Message prepared)
(3) GM: Nope, she doesn't.
** (4) Kibin waits for everyone else to start moving towards the city... **
(3) GM: Walking off to town?
(4) Kibin: (No walking for me, I'm talking the scenic air route.)
** (5) Elorin walks to town **
(4) Kibin: (Elorin could too.)
(3) GM: You find a smallish town, with a standard shop, for some odd reason. Sense Motive checks?
(4) Kibin: [1d20+13] -> [4,13] = (17)
(4) Kibin: (Well that sucked.)
(3) GM: Elorin? Sense Motive?
(5) Elorin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+8] -> [1,8] = (9)
(4) Kibin: (Hehe.)
(3) GM: It's a happy town, everything's fine. Nothing unusual at all.
(5) Elorin: (Eldon?)
(3) GM: [1d20+20] -> [13,20] = (33)
(3) GM: Eldon looks a little concerned, though.
** (4) Kibin swoops down, lands behind everyone. **
(4) Kibin: [1d20+18] -> [1,18] = (19)
** (4) Kibin tries doing it silently too. For no reason whatsoever. **
(3) GM: And, in the process, breaks a twig that he didn't spot.
(4) Kibin: (Hey, that was a good roll.)
(4) Kibin: (True, most of that is the modifier...)
(3) GM: [1d20] -> [10] = (10)
(3) GM: Listen checks?
(4) Kibin: (But about the most an untrained character could do.)
(5) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [1,10] = (11)
** (5) Elorin is oblivious **
(4) Kibin: (And everyone is deaf anyway. :D)
(3) GM: Yep. Seems you got the drop on everyone.
(3) GM: Well, you're in town. It's a fairly busy place, everyone smiling as they go about their business.
** (4) Kibin asks Eldon, "What are you concerned about?" **
(3) GM: Eldon: They're all smiling.... every last one.... the same smile.....
(4) Kibin: Ah.
(4) Kibin: Maybe you should ask someone why?
(5) Elorin: That does seem a bit unusual
(3) GM: Oh, and Kibin - Elorin hit you with a Heal earlier.
(4) Kibin: (Yeah, I was lazy and didn't update HP. :P)
(4) Kibin: (Happily I don't have to wash any blood from my clothes.)
(4) Kibin: (Hehe, bloopers from narnia. This should be good.)
(3) GM: Eldon: You ask. They make me a little bit nervous....
** (4) Kibin chases down a random person, and asks, "Why are you so happy?" **
(3) GM: Sense Motive?
(4) Kibin: [1d20+13] -> [6,13] = (19)
(4) Kibin: (Meh, still sucks.)
(3) GM: Random Person: Why, because the war is over, of course! We can all live in peace now.
(4) Kibin: What war?
(3) GM: Random Person: Oh, the fued that had been running with the neighboring town for the last few decades. But then the saviour came buy, and showed us all a better way.
(5) Elorin: (what would the world do without the PC's?)
(5) Elorin: (how long until total anarchy? :P)
** (4) Kibin asks curiously, "What savior?" **
(3) GM: Random person (female, average looks): Jose! He showed us all that we didn't have to fight, just follow Him.
(4) Kibin: Where is he?
(3) GM: The girl points to a building, slightly larger than the others about.
(4) Kibin: (I should have curious as a character flaw for an extra feat. :P)
(3) GM: Girl: He stays there, when he's in town every week.
(4) Kibin: (BRB a second...)
(3) GM: Girl: We all go an see him regularly. He gives sermons at times.
(4) Kibin: (Back.)
(3) GM: Girl: He always wants to see newcomers; most, after hearing His words, want to settle down here.
(4) Kibin: And those who don't?
(3) GM: Girl: They leave.
(4) Kibin: Uh, okay then. Thanks.
(3) GM: The girl curtsies and goes back to what she had been doing - harvesting berries off of a few bushes.
(4) Kibin: Kaylin, do you have any spells against mind control effects?
(5) Elorin: I do
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Magic Circle against Evil ( level 3, "As protection spells, but 10-ft. radius and 10 min./level" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(4) Kibin: (Oh, I just thought of a great spelltouched feat. Ineluctable Echo. Caster who targets me with power word spell or wail of the banshee is affected by that spell as well.)
(5) Elorin: (1 10-ft radius of immunity enough, or should I use another of my 5 remaining 3rd-level spell slots?)
(3) GM: Long as nobody gets separated....
(4) Kibin: (Or residual rebound. If I make a natural 20 save, spell is rebounded on caster.)
** (4) Kibin stays near Elorin, then. "Please make sure that doesn't run out. And, let's go to one of those sermons?" **
(4) Kibin: (Residual Rebound would probally be better.)
(3) GM: So, other than talking to elorin, anyone doing anything?
(4) Kibin: (Going to see one of the sermons?)
(5) Elorin: Perhaps we should visit the shop while we're here?
(4) Kibin: That too.
(3) GM: You hear a bell ring, and everyone sets down what they are doing, with no thought for theives, and start walking towards the large building in the center of town.
(4) Kibin: But let's go to the sermon first?
(5) Elorin: Well, if that's happening right now, I guess so.
** (4) Kibin walks over to the large building in the center, then. **
** (4) Kibin also stays as close to Elorin as he can, inside the magic circle effect. **
(5) Elorin: But first, I can easily afford to repeat that protection spell a few times, so...
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Magic Circle against Evil ( level 3, "As protection spells, but 10-ft. radius and 10 min./level" )
(5) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(5) Elorin: (on Kibin)
** (4) Kibin hmmms. "That works.) **
(4) Kibin: (Or maybe leadership. That would be kinda neat.)
(4) Kibin: (Fear my 40 level one followers! :P)
(5) Elorin: (Leadership + epic ritual spells = Mega Broken :P)
(4) Kibin: (Hehehehe.)
(3) GM: Large, wooden, intricately caved doors stand twelve feet tall, open. Every walks in, and quitely sit down on a bunch of wooden pews, facing an alter covered by a white cloth, with a fifteen foot tall statue of a woman laying on the wall, as though she was relaxing on the floor. A simple wooden pulpit is off to the side of the alter, and an old man in grey robes stands there.
(3) GM: The people sing a few hymns for about ten minutes, and then the old man launches into his sermon.
(3) GM: Oh, Spellcraft check, please.
(5) Elorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+20] -> [16,20] = (36)
** (4) Kibin sits down on one of the pews, and listens. And watches. **
whispering to GM, Bluff: [1d20+28] -> [1,28] = (29)
(3) GM: The man talks, going over the virtues of peace, turning the other cheek, obidience, and letting others live their own way undisturbed.
whispering to Elorin, And along the way, he somehow manages to weave some odd spell into the mix....
** (4) Kibin doesn't think that it seems all that bad so far. Hmmm. **
(3) GM: He also speaks of how all children are wanted, and those for whom the parents do not want, or cannot support, need to be handed over to Shanhara's care for her courts.
(3) GM: And that, as needed, the acrolites can help with that.
(3) GM: He also extols the virtues of those who relieve others stress in a physical manner, and paints in an ungly light those who would get jealous of others.
(3) GM: After about an hour, he finishes speaking, and a few acrolites, also in gray robes, pass around offering plates. All the villagers place something in - mostly gold.
(3) GM: Eventually, the plate comes your way.
** (4) Kibin keeps his gold, just letting the plate go by... **
(3) GM: After the offering is done, the acrolites collect the plates, a few more hymns are sung to Shanhara's glory, and everyone files otu.
(3) GM: (Grr. Stupid keyboard, introducing typo's.)
** (4) Kibin follows Elorin, commenting, "That didn't seem too bad." **
(5) Elorin: It all sounded good, but I'm suspicious of anyone who resorts to spells to gain and keep a following
(4) Kibin: Did he use any spells?
(5) Elorin: And I'm wondering just what happens to any children handed over to him
(5) Elorin: Yes, he did.
(3) GM: Oh, anyone care to make a Knoweledge(Religion) check?
(5) Elorin: (Kaylin...)
(3) GM: Knowledge: Religion Skill Check: [1d20+13] -> [17,13] = (30)
(4) Kibin: (I concentrate on mainly material things, not spirutual matters.)
(3) GM: Kaylin: What I find really odd, is that Shanhara isn't one of the standard dieties....
(4) Kibin: (Namely, the knowledge skills that grant me the knowledge of 'squishy' targets.)
(3) GM: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [1,16] = (17)
(4) Kibin: Go ask him?
(3) GM: Anyone care to make a Knoweledge(The Planes) check?
(5) Elorin: (Kibin, don't you have a rank or two in that?)
(4) Kibin: (Okay, squishie targets on this plane.)
(3) GM: On your way out, an acrolite nods at you.
(4) Kibin: (I just have local, arcana, and nature.)
(3) GM: Acrolite: Newcomers! Did you enjoy the service?
(4) Kibin: It was okay.
(3) GM: Acrolite: Do you have any questions about the Great and Glorious Shanhara? I can direct you to Jose, if you like, and answer some small things myself.
(4) Kibin: That seems good.
(5) Elorin: We've never heard of Shanhara before. What can you tell us about him?
(3) GM: Acrolite: Her. She is the Ender of Wars, the Harbringer of Eternal Peace.
(3) GM: Acrolite: Her cleric, Jose, arrived at this place in the middle of the war. As you can see, it has been ended.
(4) Kibin: Weren't you going to go take us to see Jose?
(3) GM: Acrolite: As you wish, allthough I was confused in that you asked me a question after saying "That seems good", as answering questions myself was a portion of the offer. I apoligize for misinterperting. This way.
(3) GM: The acrolite bows slightly, turns, and heads up towards the alter, and a side door near it.
** (4) Kibin follows the acrolite. **
(3) GM: The acrolite takes you through a much smaller door, into a hallway, and knocks on another door. A voice, familiar from the sermon says "Come in"
(3) GM: The acrolite opens the door, and gestures you through.
** (4) Kibin goes through the door, then. **
(3) GM: Inside, you see the preacher from the sermon sitting at a desk, reading some papers, writing on them, and crossing theings out, then writing again. He looks up as you enter, and gestures at two chairs sitting on your side of his desk.
(3) GM: Jose: Ah, you enjoyed the service, then? Would you care to join our town?
(4) Kibin: (Kaylin is waiting outside?)
(3) GM: Umm... yes.
** (4) Kibin jumps up on a chair and sits down, looking over at Elorin who knows more about this than himself. **
(5) Elorin: Perhaps
(5) Elorin: First, we'd like to here more about this Shanhara
(3) GM: Jose: What would you like to know?
(4) Kibin: (*pokes Elorin again.*)
(5) Elorin: How about you just start with the basics and go from there. We'll interrupt if we have specific questions.
** (4) Kibin thinks, "Yay, story time!" **
(3) GM: Jose: Oh, most of it was covered in the sermon. I'm no mind reader; I know you were there, and I can tell you have concerns, but I know not what they are.
(4) Kibin: What are you talking about?
(3) GM: Jose: Your friend seems worried about something, but I can't put my finger on what.
(5) Elorin: Well, if you really want to cut straight to the chase, I was wondering why your sermon incorporated a spell.
** (4) Kibin expects battle to happen soon... **
(3) GM: Jose: Ah, that. The war isn't really ended, yet. Shanhara acts through me to keep those who were constantly pushing for the war from doing so. When all who remember the war personally have passed away, they shall be free to fly on their own. Until then, we cannot allow such an abomination to occur.
(5) Elorin: (hmm, I should have asked Kaylin if she could make out any more details about it than I did before we came in here)
(4) Kibin: What war are you talking about?
(3) GM: Jose: For now, there is no war here. Without the Renewal, there might be again.
(3) GM: Jose: Some pointless bloodshead, that had been going on between this town and one near it. I never did get the details, just that it needed to be stopped.
(4) Kibin: Why do you use that spell on newcomers?
(3) GM: Jose: It can affect all who hear the Sermon. Those not interested in war note no effect.
** (4) Kibin wonder if he counts as one of those... **
(4) Kibin: And why isn't Shanhara wellknown?
(3) GM: Jose: She keeps to Her own purposes. I do not question.
(4) Kibin: Then why did she make herself known for a war?
(3) GM: Jose: To end it.
(4) Kibin: Why?
(3) GM: Jose: She detests the needless loss of life it entails.
(5) Elorin: All right, I can agree that ending a war is good, but it would seem far better to me to find out the war's cause and deal with that than to force peace through semi-permanent mental domination of some sort.
(3) GM: Jose: If that is what you prefer, that is what you prefer. Shanhara's and my solution works.
(3) GM: Jose: Tell me, how many wars have you ended?
(4) Kibin: I think we ended one of them so far.
(5) Elorin: (? When have we been involved in a war?)
(5) Elorin: (besides the future invaders)
(3) GM: Jose: Then it would seem both our methods have merit. Shanhara much prefers that people perish under her care, with the proper ceremonies, than on the battlefield for the benefit of noone but the scavengers.
(4) Kibin: (Well, technically, stopping that sorcerer from completing his ritual counts as stopping a war.)
(4) Kibin: And what do you mean by that? Sacrificing people?
(3) GM: Jose: Not at all. She ends suffering, and takes the afflicted into herself, but only if the afflicted is willing.
(4) Kibin: Do you mean actually willing or mind controlled to be willing...
(3) GM: Jose: When one comes to Shanhara for release, we first remove the Renewal so there can be no mistake.
(4) Kibin: Why do they do that?
(3) GM: Jose: The reasons for one coming to Shanhara are diverse; some have pain they cannot endure, others wish to join with the departed, still others are fatigued with being a burden on those around them.
** (4) Kibin wonders what life in the afterlife really is. And almost wishes he could remember it. **
(5) Elorin: (ah yes, Kibin's experienced the afterlife, what, 3 or 4 times now? :P)
(4) Kibin: (Two, actually.)
(3) GM: (Stoned a few times, but that isn't technically fatal)
(4) Kibin: (Which makes me wonder something. Is there a beforelife?)
(4) Kibin: (If there's an afterlife where people are after they die, what about before they're born?)
(3) GM: (Not something that's often addressed)
(4) Kibin: (If so, I've theoretically been there twice too.)
(4) Kibin: (Anyway, we're getting off topic.)
(4) Kibin: Don't people join the departed once they die?
(3) GM: Jose: Depends. Different people can go different places. Shanhara's rituals ensure those who end with them all go to Shanhara.
(4) Kibin: Ah. How do you know that?
(3) GM: Jose: Shanhara tells me so.
** (4) Kibin wonders if divine forces are just a bunch of phooey, and divine casters just use a different form of magic. **
(5) Elorin: What if the departed that someone wishes to join did not end through one of Shanhara's rituals?
(3) GM: Jose: That is why we encourage those who are close to death anyway to go to Shanhara, although none are forced to do so.
** (4) Kibin asks, "Couldn't you simply use a modified ressurection spell to do that?" **
(5) Elorin: That's kind of expensive
(3) GM: Jose: Shanhara is very respecting of Death.
(4) Kibin: Yes, but it gets the job done...
(5) Elorin: (I don't think we're going to hear anything I'd take serious issue with from this guy. I don't really like the Renewal, but it seems innocent enough. I'm not entirely satisfied, but I think only research elsewhere would be able to answer my concerns)
(4) Kibin: (*considers that Kibin has no reason whatsoever to fear death or turn to religion, since he has friends that can ressurect him, and he won't die of old age.)
(3) GM: Jason walks in: "Ready to go?"
(3) GM: Jose gets up, and pulls out a small statue he keeps around his neck, and waves it around....
(3) GM: [1d20+6] -> [3,6] = (9)
(3) GM: [2d6+6+18] -> [2,5,6,18] = (31)
(3) GM: Jason stops and cowers.
** (5) Elorin laughs. Sorry if he startled you, but Jason's pretty benevolent as undead go. **
(4) Kibin: Uh, can he stop that? He's not evil, and would hardly hurt a fly.
(5) Elorin: Stopping a particularly evil sorcerer and ensuring no one could ever repeat his ritual of power was just too important to let death get in the way for him.
(3) GM: Jose: Ah. I see. Well then, I suppose he can go... once it wears off. Shouldn't be too long.
(3) GM: Jose: I suppose if there's nothing else, I should get back to working on tomorrow's sermon.
(5) Elorin: No, you've satisfied my concerns as well as they can be without completely independent research.
(3) GM: Jose smiles and nods, then looks down at his papers, draws his quill, and gets back to work.
(4) Kibin: (*wonders if Kibin will start staying up long hours at night pondering the meaning of life itself.*)
** (5) Elorin leaves **
(3) GM: After about a minute, Jason recovers and walks out, with an odd look on his face.
** (4) Kibin asks, "Do you mind if I wait with Jason until that wears off?" **
** (4) Kibin follows Jason outside. "Uh, sorry about that..." **
(4) Kibin: (Directed to Jason, by the way.)
(3) GM: Jason: hardly your fault. Just as well Kaylin had a few unprepared slots.
(5) Elorin: Hmm?
(5) Elorin: Oh, right, she went and got you.
(3) GM: Jason: Pretty much.
(5) Elorin: So, what happened with the soldier and his machine that we couldn't take with us?
(3) GM: Jason: Oh, he started taking fire after they figured out I wasn't him, so I bailed underground, and they finished him off. Four, by the way.
(4) Kibin: (*chuckles at the image of Kibin in his kobold form, doing matrix-style dodges of bullets.*)
(3) GM: Jason: So, what next? I see you didn't kill the priest.
(4) Kibin: Uh, no, no we didn't.
(4) Kibin: Probally because he seems to have a good reason.
(3) GM: Jason: Ah. Well, were you planning on picking something up here, or just regrouping?
(4) Kibin: Regrouping.
(5) Elorin: I was hoping to buy some adamantine arrows as well, but I don't know if a town with this religion in charge would have such things available.
(3) GM: Jason: Ah. Well, I suppose there's only one way to find out.
(5) Elorin: Yep, ask the shopkeeper.
** (5) Elorin goes looking for the shop **
** (4) Kibin follows Elorin, just to see the sights. **
(3) GM: You find a wooden shop, with a man sitting behind a counter, with many things displayed; bows, arrows, swords, shields, helmets, gauntlets, grains, ropes, backpacks, and a great many other things.
** (4) Kibin walks around the shop looking at thinks, seeing if there's anything that captures his interest. **
(3) GM: You notice a bag of caltrops.
(4) Kibin: (*wonders why caltrops are interesting.*)
(3) GM: Shopkeeper: Greetings. Interested in something?
** (4) Kibin looks for more things interesting. **
(5) Elorin: Yes, I'm looking for arrows tipped with a certain rare metal.
(5) Elorin: Adamantium
(3) GM: Shoppkeeper: Oh, I'm sorry; we don't sell weapons here. Although if you are interested in some display models, we have perfect full scale replicas in stock.
(3) GM: He manages to say that with a straight face, oddly.
(5) Elorin: ("display models"?)
(4) Kibin: (Hehe.)
(5) Elorin: I'll have a look at these replicas
** (4) Kibin listens in, and feels the weight of a heavy looking sword while he waits. **
(3) GM: The shoppkeeper selects a quiver from the wall behind him, and draws an amazingly accurate replica of an adamantine arrow. If you didn't know it was a display model, you couldn't tell. As it is, you can't find a single flaw to distinguish it from the real thing.
(4) Kibin: (*pokes the GM*)
whispering to Kibin, It's weighted approprietly.
** (5) Elorin is dubious about his stance of "not selling weapons" **
(5) Elorin: Interesting. So, how many of these do you have?
** (4) Kibin inspects the sword, to see if there's any flaws in it that would differentiate it from the real item... **
(3) GM: Shoppkeeper: Quite a few, and I can order more replicas readily enough. How many do you want to put on display?
(5) Elorin: (lol)
(3) GM: After much searching, kibin finds some extremely small ink writing, easily smudged away, that says "Display Model"
(4) Kibin: (Oh comeon. That's the only difference?)
(3) GM: Yep. Looks like it was put on as an afterthought.....
(5) Elorin: Hmm, I've got a large room that would look great with a repeating pattern of these mounted on the walls... 100, maybe?
(3) GM: Shoppkeeper: Well, I've only got about twenty in stock; any more than that, and I'll have to order them. Should be here tomorrow, though.
(4) Kibin: (Ask how they're priced to the actual object. :D)
** (4) Kibin , while waiting, picks up a shortsword and sees if it feels comfortable enough in the hand to use. **
(5) Elorin: That will do, I suppose. How much?
(3) GM: Just as well balanced as every other "display model" in the place.
(4) Kibin (whispering): What I mean is can I use it as a dragon. Probally not, but Kibin(and me) wants to make sure.
(3) GM: Shoppkeeper: Standard pricing, 1201 gold crowns per bach of 20.
whispering to Kibin, You can, actually; dragon's claws are as versitle as kobold's hands.
whispering to Kibin, Although it makes moving a pain, as you can't walk normally.
** (4) Kibin then does about three quick slashes into the air in front of it, testing. (Full attack) **
(4) Kibin: (it=him. :P)
(5) Elorin: *Sigh* Expensive, but worth it I guess.
** (5) Elorin gets out 120 pp and 1 gp **
(5) Elorin: I'll pay for the rest when they're here.
(3) GM: Shoppkeeper: Fair enough.
(3) GM: The shoppkeeper takes the money, and hands over the full quiver of arrows.
(3) GM: Then makes a note on a thick piece of leather for later.
** (4) Kibin places the shortsword back on whereever he got it, and walks over to Elorin. **
(5) Elorin: (yay, I can keep up full attacks on the robots for, um, 4 rounds total now before becoming near useless offensively)
(3) GM: Shoppkeeper: If you're interested, we also have full scale replica swords of the same material.
(4) Kibin: I'm good, I already have a few display models.
(5) Elorin: (made of adamantium?)
(4) Kibin: (Nope, just a regular sword of subtely display model. :D)
** (4) Kibin hmmmms, thinking for a moment. "Of course, another one couldn't hurt. How much does an adamantine shortsword display model cost?" **
(3) GM: Shoppkeeper: Standard, 3,010 gold crowns.
(3) GM: Shoppkeeper: Although I'd have to order one in your size.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Sense Motive: [1d20+13] -> [9,13] = (22) Wondering if he actually knows if they're real or not...
whispering to GM, [1d20+23] -> [19,23] = (42)
whispering to Kibin, He seems genuine to you.
(4) Kibin (whispering): Even after the "ordering one in your size" comment?
whispering to Kibin, He's a connisour; all his models need to match those that purchase them, or the person they purchase them for.
(4) Kibin (whispering): If you say so...
** (4) Kibin hmmmms. "Okay, sounds good." **
whispering to Kibin, Bluff check of 42......
(4) Kibin (whispering): Of course, I don't actually believe you. Just wanting to make sore ICly.
(3) GM: Shoppkeeper: Great; It should be here for tomorrow....
(4) Kibin (whispering): sure*
** (4) Kibin goes walk out of the store with Elorin, then, since there's nothing else to do in the shop. **
** (5) Elorin wonders if Jose knows about all the "display models" here :P **
(5) Elorin: (or does the Renewal make him think that really is what they are?)
(4) Kibin (whispering): Out of curiosity, what about failing a check like a sense motive check, but figuring out somethings up though regular methods? Like failing on a sense motive check, but still remaining suspicious?
whispering to Kibin, You know there exist people who are better at lying than you are at detecting lies. You just can't necessarily finger them. As a player character, you are free to act as you please, although you do need to act as though you considered the words to be true.
whispering to Kibin, And are premitted to be quite upset when your paranoia pays off.
(4) Kibin (whispering): I mean not taking it as true, but not taking it as false either. :P
** (4) Kibin comments to Elorin when out of ear range of the shopkeeper, "You know that all of the stuff in there is probally perfectly real?' **
(5) Elorin: Why else would I have spent serious money on it?
(4) Kibin: Home decor?
(5) Elorin: Even with what we've accumulated, that much isn't a drop in the bucket, you know.
(4) Kibin: Meh. Still fairly expensive.
(5) Elorin: There are much cheaper ways to decorate a home well.
(4) Kibin: Did I say it was a bright idea?
(5) Elorin: (hehe, I'm remembering the wizard who threaded gold through all his walls :P)
(3) GM: (Paid off for him, too)
(5) Elorin: (thereby forcing us to pay more in restitution)
(5) Elorin: (was it really necessary for him to smash the wall, or was that deliberate specifically to increase the restitution cost?)
(4) Kibin: Delibarate, I say. He just waits for someone to break into his home, and volia! Free money for him.()
(3) GM: (He didn't have a direct route to you anymore, and the elemental was too big to get in normally......)
(5) Elorin: (ah, but with us having to pay triple cost (I think), why not burn down the whole building in "self defense"? :P)
(5) Elorin: (of course, there's the issue of not knowing whether we can actually pay that much, but still...)
(3) GM: (Because that would damage other people's property, and there's always the risk of not catching the perpetrators, or not being able to get full funding out of the purpetrators; especially as half that triple goes to the crown.....)
(4) Kibin: (Back to IC.)
(3) GM: Jason: So. What next?
(5) Elorin: Summon a celestial to inform them of what we've learned?
(4) Kibin: Wait for the sword and arrows to arrive?
(5) Elorin: I can't think of anything else that needs doing that won't have to wait for our orders to arrive.
(3) GM: Jason: Can you summon one? I only pretened to.
(5) Elorin: Unfortunately not. Kaylin might, but I don't know if she has any means for it other than Planar Binding.
(3) GM: Kaylin: Yes, but not prepared today.
(4) Kibin: But she's a wizard, and can cast any arcane spell that isn't too powerful for her and that she has a scroll of.
(4) Kibin: On a side note, did you know that dragons are apparently able to use weapons just as well as any humanoid?
(3) GM: Normally, they just don't bother.
(4) Kibin: (Who was that?)
(3) GM: Jason....
(4) Kibin: (Ah, okay.)
(4) Kibin: Maybe, but I never knew that before...
(3) GM: Jason: Most find that their claws do more than whatever's in them. Not always true, mind, but often. Especially with the larger dragons.
(3) GM: Back in a minute.
(3) GM: Back
(4) Kibin: But I'm not exactly a larger dragon, am I...
(3) GM: Jason: No, you're a smaller dragon, who usually can't afford the more effective weapons.
(4) Kibin: Hmmm. Still didn't know that until today, however.
(3) GM: So... going to an inn, camping on the outskirts of town, looking for something else ....?
(4) Kibin: (Resting in the wagon and carriage?)
(3) GM: Anyway, the next day....
** (4) Kibin lies awake most of the life pondering religion, and if it's just a few magical forces like arcane casters use, or something more... **
(4) Kibin: (night*)
(4) Kibin: (pokes elorin*)
(3) GM: Well, I suppose you go to the shoppkeeper, pick up the goods and drop off the gold.
** (4) Kibin goes pick up his weapon, and drop off the gold. **
** (4) Kibin needs to get some more gold soon to fill his dwindling pile in the portable hole. **
(3) GM: Jason: So, what next? Another try at the mines?
** (5) Elorin drops off the 4804 gp and picks up 80 more adamantine arrows **
(3) GM: Jason: Look into that priest more? Bar hopping?
** (4) Kibin then tries figuring out a way to keep the adamantine sword outside the portable hole, without getting in his way, and easily accessable if he needs it. Hmmmm. **
(5) Elorin: (brb, dinner's being delivered)
(3) GM: (Pizza or Chinese?)
(4) Kibin: (Listen to this while our GM is away in about an hour or so. :)
(4) Kibin: (Or right now if you're the GM, or don't want to wait.)
(3) GM: How appropo.
(4) Kibin: (That's hilarious.)
(4) Kibin: (Especially if you play D&D.)
(4) Kibin: ("Remember, don't sweat the small stuff. Gnomes, for example.")
(5) Elorin: (back)
(3) GM: ("My Gnomes Fly")
(5) Elorin: (neither pizza nor chinese, actually)
(3) GM: (though not a quate from the hold music....)
(4) Kibin: ("Is it really surprising there are no half-dwarves?")
(4) Kibin: ("Do italian vampires hate garlic?")
(4) Kibin: ("How will I lose my paladin-ship this time?"_
(4) Kibin: (What's department 7?)
(3) GM: So, who's doing what?
** (4) Kibin is figuring out how to have his shortsword easily accessable, while not being in the way. **
whispering to Kibin, you figure out you'll pretty much either need to carry it constantly, or get a custom belt
** (4) Kibin sighs, and places it in his Portable Hole for later. **
(3) GM: Kaylin: Did you say you wanted me to summon up a celestial to deliver news?
(5) Elorin: Yes, I think that would be a good idea.
(3) GM: Kaylin: Bralani sound good?
(5) Elorin: ("where did that tiger keep his 20 silver pieces?" :P)
(4) Kibin: (Hehehe.)
(4) Kibin: No clue what a Bralani is.
(3) GM: (his stomach, of course, or lying scattered on the ground in his den. What did you think he ate?)
(4) Kibin: (The mushy parts, and not the crunchy parts?)
(3) GM: Kaylin: Well, such spells don't last particularly long, so here goes.
Kaylin casts Summon Monster VI ( level 6, "Creates summoned monsters that fight for you." )
Kaylin can cast Summon Monster VI 0 more times
(3) GM: A beefy, human-looking man with long white hair appears on completion of Kaylin's spell.
(3) GM: Beefy Man: Hmm... no obvious opponents..... what would you have of me?
(5) Elorin: You know of the strange golem-like invaders that shoot tiny projectiles really fast?
(3) GM: The man scowls deeply: Yes.
(5) Elorin: We summoned you to give some information about them we've learned. The important things are, they are controlled by a gnome somewhere in the machine, they seem to be here through some effect similar to an Astral Projection spell so destroying them is almost meaningless, removing the pilot ends the effect for that pilot, and while they can detect invisible things they apparently can't detect etherial things. While the machines are immune to pretty much any magic, the pilots are not.
(5) Elorin: It is also possible, though difficult, to open the machines from the outside through some mechanical means, we're not sure exactly how.
(5) Elorin: A pilot removed from the machine can be killed permanently instead of just sent back to wherever they come from.
(5) Elorin: Did I forget anything?
(3) GM: The man grins: It may help. Call me if you figure out how to open them up reliably. Anything else?
(4) Kibin: Someone that's similar in size and shape to a gnome can enter the machine, and use it?
(4) Kibin: If you manage to get it open, of course.
(4) Kibin: And pull the gnome inside out.
(3) GM: Man: Definately a necessary first step..... hmm.... really good to know.....
(3) GM: Bralani: Anything else before I'm out of time?
(5) Elorin: Unless Kibin can remember and explain exactly how he opened one that one time quickly enough, no.
(4) Kibin: Good luck?
(3) GM: The Bralani nods, and vanishes from view.
(4) Kibin: So...
(4) Kibin: What now?\
(3) GM: Jason: Agreed.
(5) Elorin: I expect the invasion of the upper planes will suffer a rather serious setback or several soon :D.
(4) Kibin: (Away for a minute or so.)
(3) GM: Kaylin: I think he's referring to what *we* do now.
(5) Elorin: Well, we can go back to the mine and try to learn more while taking out as many of them as we can.
(5) Elorin: But we need to plan how to make any damage we do permanent, first.
(5) Elorin: And it might be worth trying to find this "center" of theirs and talk them into seeing the error of their ways.
(4) Kibin: So, want to jump in that portal and see if we can find our way?
(5) Elorin: But I'd prefer to have more information before doing that. We can't handle a swarm of them all at once, and that's probably what we'd find if we find anything worthwhile through that portal.
(4) Kibin: Ask kindly to let us talk with their leaders?
(3) GM: Kaylin: I don't know... he seemed to refer to it more as a place to pass through than as a place to stay.....
(4) Kibin: ("Take me to your leader...")
(5) Elorin: Which just means we'd have to find the portal to their plane to talk to their leaders, and we'd meet the swarm there instead.
(3) GM: Eldon: And didn't he seem cocky that nobody could figure it out?
(4) Kibin: Or you could use tounges to talk in their language?
(4) Kibin: Eldon, you're as smart as Kaylin, between the two of you you could probally figure it out...
(4) Kibin: (*pokes the world.*)
(3) GM: Jason: Are you thinking it might not be actively guarded?
(3) GM: Kaylin: Well, if it's considered enough of a guard in and of itself.....
(4) Kibin: And... who here can run?
(3) GM: Eldon: Who here can't?
(3) GM: Good stopping point? Dinner soon.
(4) Kibin: (Sure...)
(5) Elorin: (I think so)
(3) GM: Fair enough, then.
