Server Administrator-> You have connected to an OpenRPG server, version '1.6.1'.
Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for
a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.
Session is schedualed for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.
(2) Kibin (enter): 09:38
(1) Jack Simth: Greetings.
(2) Kibin: I suppose I'm too late for the random number of the day?
(1) Jack Simth: Uneeded today, as I had a note I needed to add to the "server online" message anyway.
(2) Kibin: Aw, only 4 hours of stuff. :(
(2) Kibin: Will you be coming back? :)
(1) Jack Simth: Not sure how long it will take.
(2) Kibin: Meh.
(2) Kibin: You could just post a messageo on the fourms when you're back, and take it from there.
(1) Jack Simth: Could. Not too bad an idea.
(2) Kibin: On the D20 sheet, for weapons, what am I supposed to put?
(2) Kibin: Ah, just pick anything, and edit it.
(1) Jack Simth: Yep.
(2) Kibin: Type? O.o
(2) Kibin: Bite (base): [1d20+5] -> [15,5] = (20) ===> Damage: [1d6+0] -> [3,0] = (3)
(2) Kibin: Hmmmm.
(2) Kibin: Bite (base): [1d20+23] -> [3,23] = (26) ===> Damage: [1d6+0] -> [2,0] = (2)
(2) Kibin: Bite (base): [1d20+23] -> [2,23] = (25) ===> Damage: [1d6+6] -> [3,6] = (9)
(2) Kibin: There, that's better.
(2) Kibin: Hmmm, what's these base thingies for.
(1) Jack Simth: BAB and iterative attacks; iterative attacks don't apply for natural weapons (your primary attack mode for the last few levels) so be careful with it.
(2) Kibin: Hmmm? O.o
(2) Kibin: Bite (base): [1d20+36] -> [9,36] = (45) ===> Damage: [1d6+6] -> [2,6] = (8)
(2) Kibin: Bite (second): [1d20+31] -> [17,31] = (48) ===> Damage: [1d6+6] -> [6,6] = (12)
(2) Kibin: Bite (third): [1d20+26] -> [17,26] = (43) ===> Damage: [1d6+6] -> [4,6] = (10)
(2) Kibin: Shiney.
(2) Kibin: Claws (base): [1d20+13] -> [20,13] = (33) ===> Damage: [1d4+5] -> [1,5] = (6)
(2) Kibin: Critical hit? [1d20+13] -> [18,13] = (31) ===> Damage: [2d4+10] -> [3,3,10] = (16)
(2) Kibin: Hmmmm.
(2) Kibin: Bite (base): [1d20+13] -> [19,13] = (32) ===> Damage: [1d6+6] -> [2,6] = (8)
(2) Kibin: Bite (base): [1d20+13] -> [12,13] = (25) ===> Damage: [1d6+6] -> [4,6] = (10)
(2) Kibin: Bite (base): [1d20+13] -> [16,13] = (29) ===> Damage: [1d6+6] -> [5,6] = (11)
(2) Kibin: Bite (second): [1d20+8] -> [5,8] = (13) ===> Damage: [1d6+6] -> [1,6] = (7)
(2) Kibin: Bite (base): [1d20+23] -> [4,23] = (27) ===> Damage: [1d6+6] -> [6,6] = (12)
(2) Kibin: Claws (base): [1d20+18] -> [2,18] = (20) ===> Damage: [1d4+5] -> [1,5] = (6)
(2) Kibin: Claws (base): [1d20+18] -> [6,18] = (24) ===> Damage: [1d4+5] -> [4,5] = (9)
(2) Kibin: There, that seems about right.
(2) Kibin: Now I figure out how to rename the node from D20 Character to something more meaningful.
(1) Jack Simth: Click name twice, or right-click and select Design.
(2) Kibin has sent you a tree node...
(2) Kibin: Volia. My node.
(2) Kibin: Should probally finish out the money and inventory. Hmmm.
(2) Kibin: Although there general/magical gear entries are a little small.
(2) Kibin: And I only have one non-magical item on me.
(1) Jack Simth: Built you a wrapper for it, with extra nodes for equipment and notes.
(2) Kibin: Ooo, shiney.
(2) Kibin: Hehe. Did you know I have exactly 0 pounds of stuff on me at the moment?
(3) Elorin (enter): 10:01
(1) Jack Simth: Greetings.
(2) Kibin: Magical items don't usually have weight, apparently.
(2) Kibin: And portable holes, unlike bags of holding, have no weight.
(2) Kibin has sent you a tree node...
(2) Kibin: And the wrapper with equipment filled in.
(3) Elorin: (Grr, I was going to order out but just discovered I don't have enough cash, so it's off to the dining hall for lunch today)
(2) Kibin: Ooo.
(2) Kibin: Epic obstacles are kinda cool.
(2) Kibin: Three-dimensional dungeons, oooooooooo.
(4) Kelensiya (enter): 10:08
(1) Jack Simth: You aren't wearing 0 pounds;
Bracers of Armor: These items appear to be wrist or arm guards. They surround the wearer with an invisible but tangible field of force, granting him an armor bonus of +1 to +8, just as though he were wearing armor. Both bracers must be worn for the magic to be effective.
Moderate conjuration; CL 7th; Craft Wondrous Item, mage armor, creators caster level must be at least two times that of the bonus placed in the bracers; Price 1,000 gp (+1), 4,000 gp (+2), 9,000 gp (+3), 16,000 gp (+4), 25,000 gp (+5), 36,000 gp (+6), 49,000 gp (+7), 64,000 gp (+8);Weight 1lb
Cloak of Resistance: These garments offer magic protection in the form of a +1 to +5 resistance bonus on all saving throws (Fortitude, Reflex, and Will).
Faint abjuration; CL 5th; Craft Wondrous Item, resistance, creators caster level must be at least three times the cloaks bonus; Price 1,000 gp (+1), 4,000 gp (+2), 9,000 gp (+3), 16,000 gp (+4), 25,000 gp (+5);Weight 1 lb.
Even being small, that maybe halves the weight down to 1/2 pound and 1/2 pound (1 pound total)
Claw sheathes weight at least a pound between both sets of claws.
So you're carrying two pounds.
(2) Kibin: Hmmmm, didn't notice that.
(1) Jack Simth: Ah, so we have everyone who's schedualed to show up that have showed up recently. Ready?
(4) Kaylin: Hai
(2) Kibin: Claw sheathes don't really count because they're in the portable hole. :P
(2) Kibin: I'm ready.
(1) Jack Simth: Well....

(4) Kaylin (enter): 10:11
(1) GM: Okay, Elorin appears to be sleeping.....
(2) Kibin: Bluff Skill Check: [1d20+19] -> [13,19] = (32)
(2) Kibin: Disable Device Skill Check: [1d20+21] -> [6,21] = (27)
(2) Kibin: Open Lock Skill Check: [1d20+20] -> [16,20] = (36)
(2) Kibin: Search Skill Check: [1d20+17] -> [18,17] = (35)
(2) Kibin: (Just doing some checks.)
(2) Kibin: Search Skill Check: [1d20+17] -> [20,17] = (37)
(2) Kibin: (And that one was on accident. :P)
(1) GM: When we last left our hero's, the party was discussing how to stop the interplanar invasion.....
(2) Kibin: (No clue where we were at last time.)
(1) GM: An inn at some fairly random town, where apparently a powerful cleric had come in and stopped a war.
(2) Kibin: (We were at the inn? I thought we just slept at the wagon and carriage...)
(1) GM: Ah, right. So at the wagon in the town discussing things.
(1) GM: Jason: So. What next?
** (2) Kibin has no clue what to do next, so he stays quiet. **
(4) Kaylin: Does anyone have any ideas, however remote, for how to defeat these gnomes?
(1) Jason: Well, we've established that they can, indeed, be killed, provided we can get them out of their shells. Seems to be a door on the back, that Kibin was able to open, after a bit of work.
(1) Jason: We have a good idea where they are coming through, and a cryptic description of how to find their home plane, once we get through their portal. They seem rather cocky about it, though. Perhaps with reason.
(2) Kibin: Maybe it's because they think of us as not very intelligent?
** (4) Kaylin growls a bit **
(4) Kaylin: They must have a base somewhere. They cannot go forever without replenishing basic biological needs.
(1) Jason: That gnome we interrogated mentioned something about finding a center, and was fairly sure that, even if we got into their little hole, we wouldn't be able to find it.
(1) Jason: Well, we've got Elorin to supply food so we can search indefinately, and I believe you have Plane Shift, in case we need to head back to pick something up?
(4) Kaylin: I do.
(1) Jason: So if nothing else, given time, we should be able to find it just by blundering around, no? But I imagine we can figure it out ourselves.
(4) Kaylin: That is a much more efficient solution.
(4) Kaylin: Perhaps we could capture one and compel it to guide us back?
(2) Kibin: That could be hard...
(1) Jason: We captured one - he said he didn't have the return home instructions himself, and that they had to be very precise.
(4) Kaylin: Someone in their chain of command must have return directions...
(1) Jason: So long as they aren't passed through that odd disembodied voice inside their shells.
(1) Jason: Well, are we trying this, then? You've got the travel.
(4) Kaylin: I'm willing to give it a try, but I'm still not quite understanding where you wish me to take you.
(1) Jason: Dwarves mentioned them opening a portal in their mines. I'm thinking it's probably two-way.
(1) Jason: Use their own travel method against them, and turn the invasion around, so to speak.
(4) Kaylin: Sounds good.
(1) Jason: Anyone else have any ideas?
(2) Kibin: Not really.
(1) Jason: Everyone ready, then?
(2) Kibin: I'm as ready as I'll ever be.
(1) Jason: Jason: Well then, Kaylin, would you do the honors?
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Greater Teleport ( level 7, "Teleports without error." )
(4) Kaylin: (fwoom)
(1) Jason: Outside mines, at enterence, inside mines, at the bottom of the stairwell, where?
(4) Kaylin: (A little aways from the entrance in case there's guards nearby)
(3) Elorin (enter): 10:42
(1) Jason: You find yourselves standing in a fairly open area, with the hole next to the stairwell the dwarves had been working on; seems they haven't come back. The hole is still open, although there are cracks encircling it quite completely, and the pumping apparatus is abandoned.
(1) Jason: Phone
(1) Jason: Back.
(1) Jason: So, which way do we want to try?
(4) Kaylin: (Can I make a knowledge check to see how stable that cave is likely to be?)
(1) Jason: Yeah.
(1) Jason: Dungeoneering.
(4) Kaylin: Knowledge: Dungeoneering Skill Check: [1d20+13] -> [1,13] = (14)
(3) Elorin: (so, do we have a plan here that I missed while I was gone?)
whispering to Kaylin, Looks stable to you.
(4) Kaylin: (we're going to go through the portal in the dwarves' mine)
(1) Jason: (Counter invasion; find the portal in the mines, find the center the gnome talked about, and see about convincing them to stop invading)
(2) Kibin: Jason, did you find the portal earlier?
(1) Jason: No, but I think, before they were somehow convinced we betrayed them, that the dwarves mentioned one of the reasons they picked this particular stairwell was because it was close to the portal.
(1) Jason: So, stairwell or hole in the ground?
(2) Kibin: I guess we go down the stairwell to go find it, then.
(1) Jason: After you.
(1) Jason: [1d100] -> [59] = (59)
** (2) Kibin goes down the stairwell, then. **
** (4) Kaylin goes too **
(1) Jason: Jason of course follows.
** (3) Elorin follows **
(1) Jason: The stairwell is as you remembered it; long, twisting, underground, and quite dark. At the bottom, there's no guard, and you find yourselves in a largish room with two tunnels leading away.
(1) Jason: Rough cut stone; seems to have been part of a mine in progress, a snarl in the vein of ore.
** (2) Kibin takes the tunnel on the left. **
(4) Kaylin: (brb, getting breakfasty items)
(2) Kibin: (Did you know that 30% of magical weapons glow?)
(1) Jason: It's a nice, wide tunnel, recently expanded to dimensions suitable for the metallic invader's shells.
(1) Jason: After a short distance... listen checks?
(3) Elorin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [4,10] = (14)
(2) Kibin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [13,18] = (31)
(2) Kibin: (Wow, that's neat. :)
whispering to Elorin, you faintly hear some rather heavy footsteps for a moment.
whispering to Kibin, You hear some heavy footsteps from further up the tunnel, that suddenly cut off mid-stride.
** (2) Kibin slows down, sneaking up on something ahead. **
(1) Jason: You spot a faint, shimmering glow coming around the corner up ahead.
(1) Jason: Kibin - Hide and Move Silently checks?
whispering to GM, [1d20+20] -> [11,20] = (31), [1d20+20] -> [7,20] = (27)
(2) Kibin: Move Silently Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [4,18] = (22)
(2) Kibin: Hide Skill Check: [1d20+22] -> [2,22] = (24)
(2) Kibin: (Wow those sucked.)
(2) Kibin: (*hopes for low spot and listen checks*)
(1) GM: Yep. You spot one of the metal monstrosities guarding a big, glowy hole in the cieling.... and it turns. Roll for initiative.
(1) GM: [1d20+3] -> [19,3] = (22)
(3) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [18,6] = (24)
(4) Kaylin: Dex check: [1d20+2] -> [3,2] = (5)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+5] -> [8,5] = (13)
(2) Kibin: Dex check: [1d20+3] -> [16,3] = (19)
(1) GM: Elorin, Metal Beast, Kibin, Jason, Kaylin.
(2) Kibin: (I wonder if greater magical weapon makes weapons all glowy.)
(1) GM: The room's quite large, about a hundred feet tall and a hundred feet on a side.
(1) GM: The portal provides enough light to see by.
(1) GM: Elorin?
(3) Elorin: (er, was the plan to fight our way through here, or to try talking now?)
(2) Kibin: (We are going to try talking.)
(2) Kibin: (But do you want to talk to someone who can't understand us and thinks that we're just animals?)
(3) Elorin: (tongues can fix at least part of that)
(1) GM: Portal is basically in the center of the room, towards the cieling, metal beast is standing on the ground underneath it, about fifty feet away from where you're standing.
(3) Elorin: (assuming "whatever language that gnome we interrogated spoke for a few phrases" is a valid choice of language)
(1) GM: Yeah, it is.
(2) Kibin: (Well, be happy you got to be first in the initiative, or else I would probally be forced to attack.)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Tongues ( level 4, "Speak any language" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: "We are prepared to fight if you insist, but we came here to talk."
(1) GM: Hmm..... diplomacy check?
(3) Elorin: Diplomacy Skill Check: [1d20+4] -> [14,4] = (18)
(3) Elorin: (brb)
(1) GM: The thing points it's arm at you, but otherwise makes no response.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(2) Kibin: (*thinks of possible distractions*)
(1) GM: Taking an action?
(2) Kibin: (Can I go ahead and take Elorin talking to it as a distraction? :P)
(1) GM: Yes, it could be considered a little distracted, although it's also quite suspicious.
** (2) Kibin takes advantage of Elorin's momentary distraction to attempt to hide again in the shadows. **
whispering to GM, [1d20+20] -> [8,20] = (28)
(3) Elorin: (back)
(1) GM: Hide check, at -10 for the momentary nature of the distraction (as per you making a bluff check)
(2) Kibin: Hide Skill Check: [1d20+22] -> [10,22] = (32)
(2) Kibin: (So a total check of 22.)
(1) GM: Jason delays, letting Elorin take the lead for now.
(1) GM: Kaylin?
(4) Kaylin: (delay for Elorin's attempts at diplomacy)
(1) GM: Elorin?
(2) Kibin: (Hey sweet, I can always hide from you people without any ranks in spot and less that a +2 modifier in wisdom. :D)
(1) GM: (unless there's nothing to hide behind - you need at least partial cover or concealment available to hide, after all....)
(1) GM: (as this is a mine, you're hiding behind loose rubble.)
(2) Kibin: (Yeah, and shadowy lighting provides cover.)
(3) Elorin: According to one of you that we questioned earlier, you view us as nothing more than animals to be exterminated. I assure you this is anything but true, and we would appreciate the chance to prove it to your leaders.
(1) GM: A booming voice comes from the big metal monstrosity, that most can't comprehend.
whispering to Elorin, You, howver.... "Ah, yes, that's why you scurry around in the darkness, attempt to hide, and keep that .... thing.... with you. Really, so increadibly pathetic. Bah! Just a bunch of savages to be displaced."
whispering to Elorin, "Still ... you picked up the lingo this quickly..... hmm..... meh, I'm bored."
** (2) Kibin starts considering how difficult it would be to learn another language or two. **
** (2) Kibin then starts considering that this 'diplomacy' also gives enough time for the person in the suit to call for reinforcements... **
whispering to Elorin, "Sure, go through, find the center, see if you can impress the boss any. But as long as you're here, I might as well have some fun following orders...."
(1) GM: Kibin, touch AC?
(2) Kibin: (Uh, 19?)
(2) Kibin: (20 with dodge bonus against one target...)
(3) Elorin: *sigh* I rather dislike this guy's idea of "fun" (in common).
(1) GM: You hear a loud boom coming from the thing.... [1d20+15] -> [8,15] = (23) for [10d6] -> [1,2,6,2,3,5,4,2,5,3] = (33)
(2) Kibin: (Along with any appropriate bonuses from cover.)
(2) Kibin: (Please have bonuses from cover. :(
(1) GM: Kibin, take 33 points of damage, and feel like you just got hit, hard.
(1) GM: It would only be +4 anyway......
(3) Elorin: (Heroes' Feast: [1d8+10] -> [6,10] = (16))
(2) Kibin: (Which would be just enough for me to avoid that hit.)
(1) GM: Kibin?
(1) GM: (It would put you at AC 23; it's meet or exceed AC to hit a target....)
(2) Kibin: (Or, since that's the only enemy in sight, and I get +1 against one enemy of my choice...)
(3) Elorin: (technically you have to specify the dodge bonus, but since you're aware of him and there's no other available choice...)
(1) GM: Ah, hm..... okay; the rocks you were hiding behind shatter, removing your cover completely.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(2) Kibin: (Where is the mech thingie? How far away?)
(1) GM: Center of a 100x100x100 room, about fifty feet from you.
(2) Kibin: (And for future instances where I forget to assign dodge bonus, either the only enemy I'm aware of, or the enemy I'm attacking.
** (2) Kibin sighs, and isn't going to stand there getting shot at. He flies over to where the mech is at, and starts hovering. **
(1) GM: No attack this round, then?
(2) Kibin: (No, just two move actions.)
(1) GM: Jason flings loose rocks at it....
(1) GM: Ghost Telekenesis: Violent Thrust: Standard Action: Attack rolls (one per creature or object thrown) to hit target with loose items. Wait: [1d4] -> [1] = (1) rounds; attack roll: [1d20+16] -> [12,16] = (28)
(1) GM: And the boulder he selected bounces off the thing's steel plates.
(1) GM: Kaylin?
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Prismatic Spray ( level 7, "Rays hit subjects with variety of effects." )
(2) Kibin: (...)
(3) Elorin: (er, these things are completely immune to magic, and you know this IC)
(3) Elorin: (brb)
(4) Kaylin: (oh)
(4) Kaylin: (...)
(2) Kibin: (Pssst. A summoned creature might work.)
(1) GM: Or, if you can't damage your opponent, buff your allies.
(2) Kibin: (That too.)
(2) Kibin: (A nice haste effect on me, for example..)
(4) Kaylin: (eh, should I make a Wis chec or something to see if I remember that IC?)
(1) GM: Nah, not this time. Although you really should remember to read the logs when you aren't here....
(4) Kaylin: (x.x sorry)
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Haste ( level 3, "One creature/level moves faster, +1 on attack rolls, AC, and Reflex saves." )
(4) Kaylin: (allybuff)
(2) Kibin: (To me? :)
(1) GM: "No two of which can be more than 30 feet apart" - hitting Kibin, or everyone else?
(2) Kibin: (Elorin has the boots, eldon is away...)
(4) Kaylin: (Jason, me, Elorin?)
(4) Kaylin: (That's still better than just one person)
(2) Kibin: (Elorin has boots of haste.)
(2) Kibin: (Jason is practically useless, aand can't get hit by the mech thingies anyway.)
(3) Elorin: (if we get desperate, Jason has our trump card, but he prefers not to use it)
(2) Kibin: (Besides, I'm hopefully going to open up that mech when I can.)
(2) Kibin: (So please be me? :)
(2) Kibin: (*pokes Kaylin*)
(4) Kaylin: (You already have good reflex saves, though, and it's more beneficial to help the majority of the party)
(2) Kibin: (+1 bonus to AC, mmm...)
(1) GM: Well, looks like it's everyone except Kibin, then.
(1) GM: Elorin?
(2) Kibin: (Bah.)
(2) Kibin: (Ooo, I get +4 to jump bonuses...)
(1) GM: (Not that it matters much....)
** (3) Elorin steps closer and starts the arrow barrage (it would be nice to take it undamaged, but I'd rather not depend on Kibin making a really good roll immediately) **
(2) Kibin: (And halflings get a -6 to jump checks because they have a speed of only 20)
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+31] -> [10,31] = (41)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+16+0] -> [4,6,1,16,0] = (27)

(1) GM: AC 30; five hits, [27-4-7+25-7-4+31-7-4+31-7-4+26-5-4] -> 87
(1) GM: The metal beast decides he really doesn't like that.....
(2) Kibin: (Wait, only -4)
(1) GM: Two loud bangs come from the beast: [1d20+15] -> [2,15] = (17), [1d20+15] -> [14,15] = (29) for [10d6] -> [5,1,4,5,5,3,5,6,5,3] = (42), [10d6] -> [3,5,2,3,6,4,3,3,1,3] = (33)
(1) GM: Elorin, what's your touch AC?
(3) Elorin: (18)
(3) Elorin: (:D)
(1) GM: So you get hit once for 33 damage.
(1) GM: And a big chunk of rock falls off the wall behind you.
(1) GM: Oh, and Kibin - you get an AoO.
(1) GM: Roll sneak attack separately.
(2) Kibin: (Hmmmm.)
(2) Kibin: (How do I use sneak attack with this?
(2) Kibin: Bite (base): [1d20+23] -> [18,23] = (41) ===> Damage: [1d6+6] -> [3,6] = (9)
(2) Kibin: [8d6] -> [2,5,5,1,3,3,2,2] = (23)
(1) GM: Umm.. for now, just roll it separately; later, you can make an extra weapon with the extra sneak attack damage added in.
(1) GM: Your claws spark off it's plate, landing a solid blow....
whispering to Kibin, and you feel something give under your claws as you slip one into a seam.....
(2) Kibin: (Uh, it's bite.)
(1) GM: But not leaving any scratches.
(1) GM: Ah, teeth, then.
(1) GM: Jason walks right up to stand next to the beast.
(1) GM: Kaylin?
(4) Kaylin: (hmmm..)
(2) Kibin: (Summoned monsters...)
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Stoneskin ( level 4, "Ignore 10 points of damage per attack." )
(4) Kaylin: (and run to cover if there's any nearby)
(2) Kibin: (Or stoneskin on elorin. O.o)
(2) Kibin: (Or stoneskin on yourself.)
(1) GM: Target?
(1) GM: And there's a bend in the tunnel you just came out of.
(4) Kaylin: (Can I touch Elorin and then get to cover?)
(1) GM: Yeah; it's not far.
(4) Kaylin: (do that then)
(1) GM: And did you remember to buy the diamond dust?
(3) Elorin: (DR 10/adamantine doesn't seem really useful to me against these things)
(3) Elorin: (considering their bullets are made of adamantium IIRC)
(2) Kibin: (No, they're not, I don't think.)
(1) GM: Touch attacks ignore DR anyway.
(4) Kaylin: (I thought they were iron)
(2) Kibin: (You know, D&D attacks that ignore armor doesn't ignore certain effects...)
(4) Kaylin: (moot point anyways, seems I didn't buy diamond dust)
(3) Elorin: (uh, no, touch attacks ignore armor and natural armor. There's nothing in there about DR)
(2) Kibin: (For example, incorporeal touch attacks doesn't ignore force effects, which I have a lot of.)
(3) Elorin: (incorporeal touch isn't the same thing as touch)
(2) Kibin: (Well, brilliant energy weapons, which ignore armor, don't ignore natural armor.)
(4) Kaylin: (guess I'm not doing any casting then. Bloody mechs making magicial types useless)
(1) GM: "Whenever damage reduction completely negates the damage from an attack, it also negates most special effects that accompany the attack, such as injury type poison, a monk’s stunning, and injury type disease. Damage reduction does not negate touch attacks, energy damage dealt along with an attack, or energy drains. Nor does it affect poisons or diseases delivered by inhalation, ingestion, or contact." (Link)
(2) Kibin: (Of course, it specifically says ignores non-living matter...)
(1) GM: (It's under the damage reduction entry)
(1) GM: Anyway.... Kaylin no longer targettable; Elorin's turn.
(3) Elorin: (that's specifically under the section for special effects delivered along with the attack, though)
(3) Elorin: (it still applies to damage inherent in the attack, just not to a spell or other effect delivered by the attack)
(1) GM: (They're mostly designed for fighting each other, and they've got hefty DR themselves, so....)
(1) GM: Anyway; Elorin's turn.
(3) Elorin: (what happened to Kibin's turn?)
(3) Elorin: (he got his AoO and then got skipped)
(1) GM: Ah, so he did. Kibin
(1) GM: 's turn, then.
** (2) Kibin gets out his tools and sees if he can open the mech again. This time, a little more quickly. **
(1) GM: Note - special roll takes extra time;
(1) GM: two full rounds.
(2) Kibin: (Hmmm?)
(1) GM: The open Lock check. Takes two rounds.
(1) GM: To try.
(1) GM: End of your next turn, if you're still next to the beast.
(2) Kibin: (Uh, why?)
(2) Kibin: (Hard enough to open as it is...)
(1) GM: (Well, it's moving, doesn't like you, and isn't designed for being opened from outside at all; besides, you still haven't discovered the other ways to get it open yet)
(2) Kibin: (Meh.)
(2) Kibin: (Can I go ahead and make a full attack, then?)
(1) GM: Yep.
(2) Kibin: (As two full rounds for a 1 in 20 chance of opening up the mech isn't very good...)
** (2) Kibin decides to attack instead... **
(2) Kibin: Bite (base): [1d20+23] -> [14,23] = (37) ===> Damage: [1d6+6] -> [2,6] = (8)

(2) Kibin: [8d6] -> [3,6,6,6,3,2,3,6] = (35)
(3) Elorin: (do you get sneak attack at all this time?)
(3) Elorin: (it's not flanked or flat-footed)
(1) GM: (it's specially clumsy) AC 30; one claw can't find a hold, but you do manage to scrape at it with tooth and claw.
whispering to Kibin, and again feel something pop as you slip tooth and claw into a seam.....
(1) GM: No scratches, though.
(3) Elorin: (always sneak attackable? O_o)
(2) Kibin: (Yup. :)
(1) GM: (It's always treaded as flat-footed)
(1) GM: (Which means: 1) No Dex to AC, 2) No AoO's on it's part.)
(1) GM: (There's a handful of caveats to that, though.....)
(1) GM: Elorin's turn again.
(3) Elorin: +1 Holy Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (Rapid Shot) (attack 1+2) Attack Roll: [1d20+31] -> [7,31] = (38)===> DMG: [1d8+2d6+16+0] -> [1,1,2,16,0] = (20)

(1) GM: AC 30; two misses; [20-3-4+29-9-4+29-5-4] -> 49
(1) GM: Three of your arrows pound into the beast, one goes wild, and one bounces off it's metal plates.
(2) Kibin (exit): 12:04
(1) GM: Bwa?
(1) GM: My connection shows it's working, at least to just after where it leaves the building.
(1) GM: And I can ping Yahoo.com....
(3) Elorin: (I'm still here)
(1) GM: Well..... hmm.....
(6) Kibin (enter): 12:06
(1) GM: Not my end.
(6) Kibin: (Last I heard was No Dex to AC and No AoO's)
(6) Kibin: (And yes, it was at my end.)
(1) GM: (There's a handful of caveats to that, though.....)
(1) GM: Elorin's turn again.
(1) GM: Elorin attacked;
(1) GM: Three of your arrows pound into the beast, one goes wild, and one bounces off it's metal plates.
(1) GM: And now it's the beast's turn.
(1) GM: It ignores the pathetic little beast scraping futilely at it's plates, and focues in on the archer.
(1) GM: [1d20+15] -> [9,15] = (24), [1d20+15] -> [12,15] = (27) for [10d6] -> [6,1,2,1,3,6,3,6,4,6] = (38), [10d6] -> [4,1,5,1,1,5,1,3,2,1] = (24)
(1) GM: Touch AC?
(3) Elorin: 18
** (3) Elorin is hurting **
(6) Kibin: (What the creature DOESN'T realize is that Elorin can withstand being shot at indefinitely.)
(3) Elorin: (not indefinitely, but for a pretty long time, yes)
(6) Kibin: (Or at least for a long time. :P)
(1) GM: Two hits, then, for 62 damage as Elorin gets hit twice by blows that feel more like they come from balistas than odd hands.
(1) GM: Oh, and Kibin - AoO.
(6) Kibin: Bite (base): [1d20+23] -> [9,23] = (32) ===> Damage: [1d6+6] -> [5,6] = (11)
(6) Kibin: [8d6] -> [4,4,5,6,3,2,2,4] = (30)
(3) Elorin: (two more hits and I'm probably down, but I get a turn before it and I've got Heal)
(6) Kibin (whispering): And two more strength damage. Ehehehehehe.
(1) GM: And that's a hit. Your teeth scrape across the beast's back, catch a seam... and the thing pops open, tossing a little gnome out!
(1) GM: The gnome looks very worried.
(1) GM: Kibin? Your turn.
** (6) Kibin looks at the seam he just hit, seeing if there's anything special about it. **
(1) GM: Taking the time to actually examine it, or just glancing while you do something else?
(6) Kibin: (Time to actually examine it, I suppose.)
(6) Kibin: (Seeing as how the gnome is pretty much defenseless.)
(6) Kibin: (And how Jason is free to telekinetically grapple the gnome. :D)
(1) GM: All right; seems the seam ends on the oddly undulating liquid wall that seems to house the pilot when inside.
(3) Elorin: (yeah, we've established pretty solidly that these guys are pretty pathetic without their robots)
(1) GM: And Jason's turn.....
(1) GM: Ghost Telekenesis: Lift Opponent: Standard Action, Concentration: Off Ground 12 rounds (if under 300 lbs, Will save DC 26), Wait: [1d4] -> [3] = (3)
(1) GM: Will save: [1d20] -> [7] = (7)
(1) GM: Gnome is in the air, over the head of the mech.
whispering to Kibin, For that matter, so have most the seams you've been clawing at.....
** (4) Kaylin glances around from behind the bend and emerges **
(6) Kibin (whispering): I'm wondering if there's anything that's different about that one seam.
whispering to Kibin, Not particularly, no.
(6) Kibin (whispering): Ah, so basically I just chewed/clawed the door off.
(3) Elorin: (brb)
whispering to Kibin, Sort of; Elorin helped some.
(1) GM: The thing is smoking quite a bit.
(1) GM: Kaylin - doing anything other than a single move?
(6) Kibin: Uh, do any of you want to do anything with this mech?
(4) Kaylin: (Getting to where I can see the gnome, that's about it)
(1) GM: Elorin's turn again, then.
** (6) Kibin tries closing the door, to see if it stays shut. **
(1) GM: The Gnome starts pounding madly at something on his wrist.
(1) GM: The door refuses to budge.
** (6) Kibin hovers up to the gnome, and attempts to get that thing on his wrist off of him. **
(1) GM: Slight of hand?
(6) Kibin: (Hmmm, not on here...)
(6) Kibin: [1d20+13] -> [7,13] = (20)
(6) Kibin: (And I just made the DC to take it from him.)
(1) GM: And you've got the thing from his wrist.
(6) Kibin: (I suppose it's not a wild guess to assume that the thing might be machinery?)
(3) Elorin: (back)
(1) GM: It has a bunch of odd symbols on it, changing in a regular fasion, and a few protrusions.
** (3) Elorin heals himself, taking his time to conserve the really powerful stuff for when it's needed **
(1) GM: Jason: Umm... where do I put him? Can't hold him there forever.
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Serious Wounds ( level 3, "Cures 3d8 damage +1/level (max +15)" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [3d8+15] -> [8,8,1,15] = (32)
(6) Kibin: I dunno. Door seems jammed, so it shouldn't be too hard to take him out if he tries going back in.
(6) Kibin: Or we could just break the mech enough to return it to whereever.
(4) Kaylin: I like the idea of seeing what's inside it before we do that.
(6) Kibin: Eh, just a control center or whatever that the gnome uses to control the mech.
(1) GM: Jason: Think you can fit?
(3) Elorin: Kibin, you any good at tying people up? I've got rope.
(4) Kaylin: I doubt it, but Kibin might be able to.
(6) Kibin: Uh, no, never tied something up in my life.
(1) GM: Jason: He did before, yes, but he seemed to have some slight difficulties in controlling the beast.
(3) Elorin: (what, no ranks in Use Rope? Oh well.)
(6) Kibin: (Yes, I'm a rogue with no ranks in either balance, tumble, or use rope.)
(1) GM: Jason: Well, you might fit if you could shrink yourself down, I suppose.
(6) Kibin: I can fit in it just fine right now.
(6) Kibin: Just that it doesn't fit just right...
(3) Elorin: (oh well, it's usable untrained and I doubt he can make either the DC 24 strength check or the opposed roll with escape artist with me getting +12 circumstance total, so...)
(3) Elorin: Lower him down a bit and I'll tie him up, Jason
(1) GM: Jason holds him directly in front of Elorin, at a convinient height for handling.
** (3) Elorin binds the gnome **
(3) Elorin: Use Rope Skill Check: [1d20+6] -> [18,6] = (24)
(3) Elorin: (+2 for silk rope, +10 vs opposed escape artist checks)
(3) Elorin: (and those bonuses stack)
(1) GM: The Gnome is bound up quite tight.
(1) GM: The gnome starts saying things.
** (6) Kibin takes this opportunity to study the mech some more and find weaknesses or whatever... **
whispering to Elorin, swearing up a blue streak.
(6) Kibin: (Heh, if someone ties me up, I can just use alternate form to become a little bigger bursting the rope, or smaller slipping out of the ropes.)
(3) Elorin: (to the gnome) "What, did your 'fun' backfire a bit more than you planned on?"
(1) GM: The gnome says something in a rather dejected town.
(6) Kibin: Could you cast that tounges on me too so I can understand?
whispering to Elorin, Meh, happens. Next one will know about that little snake, and to take him down first.
(3) Elorin: Sure. Might as well extend it, too, to save maybe having to recast later.
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Tongues ( level 4, "Speak any language" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 5 Spell ( level 5, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(6) Kibin: Thank you.
(6) Kibin: (Anyway, the finding weaknesses of mech thingie now?)
(1) GM: Gnome: Not that it will matter in too terribly much longer......
(3) Elorin: Why's that?
whispering to Kibin, Sneak attack, critical strikes, and other precision-based damage seems to spoof the door.
(3) Elorin: (oh yeah, more healing)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Cure Serious Wounds ( level 3, "Cures 3d8 damage +1/level (max +15)" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(3) Elorin: [3d8+15] -> [8,8,7,15] = (38)
(1) GM: The Gnome smiles: Well, I don't want to have anyone hear... come close, listen carefully....
(6) Kibin: (common)Elorin, probally because more mechs will come to find out where he is?
(3) Elorin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+8] -> [6,8] = (14)
whispering to GM, [1d20] -> [11] = (11)
** (6) Kibin listens in to what the gnome is saying from a distance. **
whispering to Elorin, he's trying to distract you from something he knows is coming soon.
(1) GM: Kibin, what's your touch AC again?
(6) Kibin: (Grrrr. 19+1)
(1) GM: Two shots ring out from a darkened hallway on the other side of the room. [1d20+15] -> [20,15] = (35), [1d20+15] -> [19,15] = (34) for [10d6] -> [5,1,3,6,5,3,4,3,2,4] = (36), [10d6] -> [6,6,5,1,5,2,2,5,4,2] = (38)
(6) Kibin: (I suppose I'm still hovering, since don't know when another attack is going to be.)
(6) Kibin: (Paaaaaaaaain... How much temporary HP?)
(1) GM: Ooh, critical threat...... [1d20+15] -> [15,15] = (30) for [10d6] -> [6,1,1,4,5,1,1,1,1,6] = (27)
(3) Elorin: (16)
(6) Kibin: (Paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain.)
(3) Elorin: ([36+38+27] -> 101)
(1) GM: And that would hit. Kibin's smashed for [36+28+27] -> 91 damage in a surprise round.
(3) Elorin: (Heroes' Feast just saved your life, Kibin)
(1) GM: Ah, misstyped; 38, not 28; 101, yep.
(1) GM: As two loud bangs resound around the cavern, Kibin goes down.
(1) GM: Roll for initiative.
(4) Kaylin: (owww)
(3) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [16,6] = (22)
(4) Kaylin: Dex check: [1d20+2] -> [17,2] = (19)
(1) GM: [1d20+3] -> [14,3] = (17), [1d20+3] -> [17,3] = (20)
(6) Kibin: Dex check: [1d20+3] -> [1,3] = (4)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+5] -> [4,5] = (9)
** (6) Kibin gets two projectiles slammed into him, and falls to the ground unconscious in a bleeding heap. **
(3) Elorin: (unless he can make both attacks with a standard action, that should have either been one attack or we all automatically get to go first now)
(3) Elorin: (surprise round or he went first in a full round we all go in)
(1) GM: Surprise round - shot at you from a hundred feet away, total darkness.
(1) GM: Elorin, Beast 2, Kaylin, Beast 1, Jason, Downed Kibin.
(1) GM: Elorin?
(6) Kibin: (Uh, it would have to be from 130 feet.)
(3) Elorin: (oh, there are two of them)
(6) Kibin: (I get darkvision out to 120 feet.)
(1) GM: Ah, well.... you got to go in the surprise round, but didn't go first, so.....
(6) Kibin: (So unconscious, dying, and with 7 rounds to live without healing.)
(1) GM: (You might stabilize)
(3) Elorin: (hmm, get Kibin back up and maybe watch him die from concentrated fire next round, or do something else)
(1) GM: Elorin? Your turn. You heard the shots from the far corridor.
(6) Kibin: (Which noone has managed to do. Ever.)
(1) GM: (10 perchent chance per try, seven chances...... [1-0.900000*0.900000*0.900000*0.900000*0.900000*0.900000*0.900000] -> 0.5217031
(1) GM: 52% chance of survival, unaided.
(6) Kibin: (Actually, it might be more like a 0% chance of unaided survival, if they shoot dying enemies.)
** (3) Elorin heals Kibin and tries to keep between him and the attackers **
(1) GM: (That would be Aided Death....)
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(6) Kibin: (How far away is the portal?)
(1) GM: Ninty feet, straight up.
(6) Kibin: (Ah, okay.)
(1) GM: Oh, and you got hit with an "all better"
(6) Kibin: (Yes...)
(1) GM: Two shots ring out.... [1d20+15] -> [3,15] = (18), [1d20+15] -> [7,15] = (22) for [10d6] -> [5,2,5,4,5,5,4,3,5,4] = (42), [10d6] -> [2,4,6,2,6,5,3,5,4,6] = (43); Elorin, what's your touch AC?
(3) Elorin: (Jack, I think these might be a tad more than CR 14. Touch attacks with a high enough bonus they almost never miss and tons of damage is a bit rough)
(3) Elorin: (18)
(3) Elorin: (assuming Haste hasn't run out)
(1) GM: I'm thinking you're right, yes. Got 85 HP?
(3) Elorin: (121 actually.)
(3) Elorin: (so I'm fine, but the second will almost certainly be instant death)
(1) GM: So you take two very nasty blows, but remain standing.
(1) GM: Kaylin?
(3) Elorin: (down to 36)
(6) Kibin: (I think two of them would be even with us in CR.)
(4) Kaylin: (I vote for Hasty Retreat)
(1) GM: Jason: Wall of Force?
(1) GM: Jason: Any wall?
(4) Kaylin: This has gone far enough...
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Wall of Force ( level 5, "Wall is immune to damage." )
(6) Kibin: (Oddly, wall of force will probally work, but my bracers of armor don't work even though it's a force effect...)
(1) GM: Blocking the far corridor?
(4) Kaylin: (where they're attacking from, yeah0
(1) GM: You see a metal beast bounce of the wall Kaylin put up.
(1) GM: [4d6] -> [4,3,1,3] = (11)
(1) GM: Jason: So, portal?
(4) Kaylin: That'll hold for about two minutes.
(6) Kibin: (My turn yet?)
(1) GM: Gnome: What's that?
(1) GM: Nope, you go last.
(1) GM: But Jason doesn't do much, so yes.
(6) Kibin: (Huh?)
(1) GM: Elorin, Beast 2, Kaylin, Beast 1, jason, Kibin - Jason asked a question, and delayed.
(1) GM: Kibin's turn.
** (6) Kibin doesn't wait for the rest of the group to reach a decision, and flies up full speed through the portal. **
(1) GM: Elorin?
(4) Kaylin: He is so rash.
(4) Kaylin: Though, that's probably the best way to go.
(3) Elorin: I think we'd better follow him while your wall is still up
(1) GM: Jason: Anyone need a lift?
** (3) Elorin heals himself and flies up (30 feet max for one move action and straight up, I think) **
(4) Kaylin: I do, if you would be so kind.
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
(3) Elorin: Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
(6) Kibin: (Lets see, I nearly got killed instantly, I think that I'd be running about now. No matter if I got magical healing or not.)
(1) GM: Ghost Telekenesis: Lift Opponent: Standard Action, Concentration: Off Ground 12 rounds (if under 300 lbs, Will save DC 26), Wait: [1d4] -> [4] = (4)
(4) Kaylin: (oh yeah, you have those little wing things now)
(3) Elorin: (yep, 60 ft good maneuverability :D)
(1) GM: Jason, over the course of about five rounds, carefully pushes Kaylin through the portal (assuming she doesn't try for a Will save, that is)
(6) Kibin: (GM, how would you describe these robots?
(4) Kaylin: (No will save)
(6) Kibin: (And by the way, you can still run with wings, which means quadruple move speed.)
(3) Elorin: (yes, but that's a full round action)
(3) Elorin: (I spent a standard action on Heal)
(6) Kibin: (Ah, okay.)
(6) Kibin: (Can we go ahead and call them giant killer robots?)
(1) GM: (Large, silvery, roughly humanoid in shape, no visible eyes, a few seams in thick metal plates, some odd holes in the palms of the hands and bottoms of the feet; they move with an awkward gait, but surprisingly quickly; stand about twice as tall as a man, and have odd metal cylinders and bars that seem to move their joints.)
(1) GM: So, before the wall expires, everyone's through the portal in the cieling.
(1) GM: On the other side, you're greeted with a strange sight; the portal you came through has it's mirror on the floor... although it's kinda hard to tell exactly where the floor begins.
(6) Kibin: (Uh, could you rephrase that? Didn't quite understand it.)
(4) Kaylin: (big dude with pneumatic joints)
(6) Kibin: (Not that!)
(6) Kibin: (I understood the description of the mech thingies just fine.)
(6) Kibin: (It's the "portal you came through hsa it's mirror on the floor"
(1) GM: You're in a circular chamber, with eight passageways leading out; letters have been painted over them - A, K, U, D, L, R, F, B; one letter of each passageway. The cieling is about twenty feet high, and the passages are about fifteen feet tall. The walls, cieling, and floor all seem to be of the same material; it gives the impression of being totally transparent, but all you can see on the other side is blackness, like looking into a totally starless night sky.
(1) GM: (Identical portal, but on the floor, rather than the cieling)
(1) GM: Everything's rounded, so the precise location of the joint between floor, wall, and cieling is iffy at best.
(6) Kibin: (That's kind of what I figured after a bit more of thinking.)
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [40] = (40)
(1) GM: The room is empty.
(6) Kibin: Uh, anyone have some paper to write those letters down on?
(1) GM: The room is about forty feet in diameter, with the passages evenly going around, and the portal in the center.
(6) Kibin: It might be handy to remember those letters for later.
(1) GM: Jason: Kaylin, I think I remember seeing you work with pen and ink, before.
(4) Kaylin: Hmm... let me see if I've got any paper left.
** (4) Kaylin digs around in the bag for a bit **
(4) Kaylin: Here we go... a sheet of paper and a pen
** (4) Kaylin draws a mapish diagram of the room, with letters noted **
(6) Kibin: (GM, you got this idea from Narnia, didn't you?)
(1) GM: (Not that I'm aware of; haven't seen the movie, been years since I read the books.)
(6) Kibin: (From the books at least.)
(4) Kaylin: (Just be glad he hasn't started in with the transformable fighters)
(3) Elorin: (now that you mention it, this does seem a bit similar to the book where Narnia is created, The Magician's Nephew IIRC)
(4) Kaylin: (hmm... yeah, been ages since I read that though)
(6) Kibin: (Me too, but I still remember it.)
(3) Elorin: (at least as far as the place connecting all the worlds goes)
(3) Elorin: (except that has a forest, I think, where this is corridors)
(1) GM: Jason: So. Anyonce care to pick a door?
(3) Elorin: We should probably be out of sight before anyone has time to follow us through.
(3) Elorin: [1d8] -> [2] = (2)
(3) Elorin: I pick K
** (6) Kibin flies through the K door. **
(4) Kaylin: No objections from me.
** (6) Kibin was already going towards the K door anyway... **
** (3) Elorin follows **
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [91] = (91)
(1) GM: Through the door, you find another, identical, empty room; the letter over the door you came through has an A.
(6) Kibin: (And the sequence of letters?)
(1) GM: Same, going around the room.
(1) GM: A, K, U, D, L, R, F, B
(3) Elorin: (brb)
(4) Kaylin: (GM, did you ever play Myst?)
(1) GM: Yes.
(4) Kaylin: (This is reminding me of that mazerunner thing)
** (6) Kibin tries to get a mental image of the complex now.... **
(1) GM: You know you can brute-force putting atoms into the fireplace to skip all the worlds, at least in the first?
(1) GM: I found the ending rather.... unsatisfying, though.
(4) Kaylin: (Whoa... yeah, the ending seemed a wee bit anticlimatic)
(1) GM: You notice there was almost no hallway in the passageway, but the doors to either side of you don't quite line up to where the other room would be coming out.
(6) Kibin: (GM, thep roblem with that is that you have about 300 combinations to go through before you get to the right one.)
(1) GM: (So?)
(4) Kaylin: (That's what brute force is all about)
(1) GM: (And if you go through with 1, 2, 3,.... it doesn't take nearly that long.)
(6) Kibin: (So it's much simpler to find all of the blue or red pages except 1.)
(6) Kibin: (Actually it does. I was assuming you'd go through the book.)
(1) GM: (Been a long time since I checked my notes, but wasn't it 53, or 153, or some such?)
(6) Kibin: (I think the number is 329, if I remember correctly.)
(1) GM: (Anyway, back to the game at hand....)
(1) GM: Jason: That portal would just be too convinient.....
(6) Kibin: Yes, and there's probally a lot more portals.
(3) Elorin: Anyone want to peek through it?
(1) GM: Jason: Yeah, sure.
(1) GM: Jason walks over, pokes his head through, then pulls it back.
** (6) Kibin hovers through. **
(6) Kibin: (Looking back, I should probally have let Jason do it like he was going to do already.)
whispering to Kibin, you find yourself in a firey, sulferic place, and hear the sounds of battle in the distance. Lots of big bangs.
whispering to Kibin, Make a Fort save.
(6) Kibin (whispering): [1d20+13] -> [18,13] = (31)
whispering to Kibin, You get uncomfortably hot.
** (6) Kibin goes back up through the portal... **
(1) GM: Jason: Didn't seem to be somewhere peaceful. Sounds of active battle.
(3) Elorin: Probably not their Center, then.
(6) Kibin: Okay, I know where to go if I want to end up in Hell or someplace. Let's try a different passageway?
** (6) Kibin goes back through the K passage. **
(3) Elorin: And while I'm sure whoever lives there would appreciate our help, we have far more important business.
** (6) Kibin stops, and goes through the A passage instead. Ooops. **
(6) Kibin: (Which leads me back at the starting point?)
(1) GM: It's an identical room.
(4) Kaylin: Wait, now.
(1) GM: And you came out under the K.
(4) Kaylin: Before we go any further, might it not be wise to let me make a map so at least we know how to get back?
(6) Kibin: We came out under the A, right?
(6) Kibin: So we simply go back the way we come every time we explore a portal.
(3) Elorin: Sure, but don't take very long. We'd better avoid getting split up. We have no clue how this place works, and for all we know, passages might not lead back where they come from.
(4) Kaylin: I hope you have good memory.
(1) GM: Anyone follow Kibin?
(4) Kaylin: Good point...
** (3) Elorin follows Kibin **
** (4) Kaylin writes down more map with directional arrows to indicate which ways we passed **
** (6) Kibin goes through the U this time. **
(3) Elorin: Wait
(3) Elorin: Check the portal to make sure it's the same one.
** (6) Kibin comes back to the portal. **
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [57] = (57)
(6) Kibin: (Comes back to everyone else, at least.)
(1) GM: Yep, going back worked.
(6) Kibin: (Was that Jason?)
(1) GM: Jason checks though the portal in the floor, of course.
(1) GM: Umm... yes.
** (6) Kibin says, "Off we go, then." And goes through the U passage again. **
** (3) Elorin follows **
** (6) Kibin looks when he gets to the other side what the letter on top of the passageway is. **
(1) GM: "D" Room is identical, and also empty.
** (4) Kaylin continues her mapmaking exploits **
(6) Kibin: (And the letter?)
(3) Elorin: (huh? We haven't gone through any D halls yet)
(1) GM: Other than the portal on the floor, of course.
(3) Elorin: (or is that the letter on the way back?)
(1) GM: You went through U, when you look up from the other side, you came out D.
(6) Kibin: (Dang it, there goes my theory.
** (6) Kibin sighs, there goes that theory. "Jason, you want to peek through the portal again?" **
(3) Elorin: (is the order of letters going around the same each time?0
(1) GM: Earlier, when you went through K, you looked up on the other side, and you came out U.
(1) GM: (Yep)
(1) GM: Jason: Sure.
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [97] = (97)
(6) Kibin: (I thought it was A?)
(3) Elorin: (wasn't that A after going through K?)
(1) GM: Jason pops down, and comes back. Water, water, everywhere.
(1) GM: Jason: Water, water, everywhere. Seemed the whole plane was full of it.
(6) Kibin: Plane of water, perhaps?
(1) GM: Jason: Not something I've studied.
(4) Kaylin: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [17,16] = (33)
** (6) Kibin hmmms, and goes back through D. **
(3) Elorin: (was it A or U after going through K?)
(4) Kaylin: (seeing if there is a plane of water
(1) GM: Went through K, on the other side, it was A; when you went through U, on the other side, it was D.
(1) GM: You've gone through a couple of doors so far.
(1) GM: Well, passageways - no doors blocking anything.
whispering to Kaylin, Could be, from what little you were told.
(6) Kibin: (And back at 'starting position')
** (6) Kibin then goes through A. **
(4) Kaylin: Could be a plane of water. Don't know, didn't see myself.
(1) GM: From the plane of water room, you go through A? Cool.
(6) Kibin: (No, no, no! :P)
(3) Elorin: (no, from the first room)
(6) Kibin: (I said I went back through D first!)
(4) Kaylin: (uhoh)
(4) Kaylin: (back in a bit, I need lunch.)
(6) Kibin: (So Kaylin will continue mapping.)
(1) GM: Okay. You did what you meant to. Back at home portal room.
(6) Kibin: (Yes, I do what I did do.)
(1) GM: So A from home portal, then....
(6) Kibin: (I said I hmmmed, and then went back through D.)
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [28] = (28)
(1) GM: Going through the A door from home, you find yourself in an identical room, having just stepped through the door labeled "K"
(6) Kibin: (You sure going through K, it was A above the door?)
(6) Kibin: (Seems to me it would be U, not A.)
(1) GM: A -> K, K -> A. Each time, so far. Very sure.
(6) Kibin: (Ah, hmmmm.)
** (6) Kibin pokes his head in the portal, to see what's on the other side. **
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [66] = (66)
whispering to Kibin, You see a bunch of peaceful fields, full of flowers, with people lounging about.
(3) Elorin: (I would bet, at least from our home portal, that A->K, K->A, U->D, D->U, L->R, R->L, F->B, and B->F)
(6) Kibin: (Already thought of it before you. :)
(6) Kibin: (But I was going to keep that IC information, instead of OOC information...)
** (6) Kibin takes his head back out. "Uh, anyone know of a plane with peaceful fields, and lots of flowers? And people lounging peacefully in it?" **
(1) GM: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [15,16] = (31)
(4) Kaylin: (Jason has a really nice modifier on that knowledge check)
(3) Elorin: I imagine there are any number of places like that on the material plane.
(6) Kibin: (That's Kaylin, lol.)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Ah, that place is dead...... don't want to stay there too long.
(4) Kaylin: (oh :P)
** (6) Kibin asks, "What do you mean, dead?" **
(1) GM: Oh, wait- you're back! I thought you had left.
whispering to Kaylin, Elysian Fields.
(4) Kaylin: (yeah, just got back)
(4) Kaylin (whispering): That's the name of the place?
(3) Elorin: (so Kibin just peeked into the afterlife? :P)
whispering to Kaylin, Yep. Greek good place to go post mortem.
(3) Elorin: (wouldn't he recognize it, or did he not stay long enough each time before?)
(3) Elorin: (:P)
(6) Kibin: (I've been there twice, I should get at least a free vacation there that I can remember. :P)
(4) Kaylin: Well... the plane is where some people go after they die.
(6) Kibin: Ah.
** (6) Kibin goes back through the K door to the starting position. **
** (6) Kibin then goes through the D door. **
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [76] = (76)
(1) GM: Identical room, also empty.
** (6) Kibin pokes his head through this portal. **
(1) GM: You came out of the U door.
(3) Elorin: (assume unless otherwise stated that I'm following Kibin through the halls)
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [62] = (62)
(6) Kibin: (*waits*)
whispering to Kibin, There's ground both above and beneath you. People are waking around on both sets. Mostly, though, it seems much like the material, although it gives you a mild good feeling. Pity you can see those metal monstrosities waling around from here. Spoils the view.
** (6) Kibin takes his head out of that portal. "Kaylin, what about a plane with ground both above and below?" **
(4) Kaylin: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [5,16] = (21)
whispering to Kaylin, Too thin a description for you this time.
(4) Kaylin: I'm not sure. Do you know anything else about it?
(6) Kibin: A mild good feeling?
(1) GM: Another check?
(4) Kaylin: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [9,16] = (25)
whispering to Kaylin, Twin Paradises of Bytopia. Nice place to visit, normally.
(4) Kaylin (whispering): Only normally?
whispering to Kaylin, Navigation's a little wiered, though, what with two downs and two ups, depending on which land mass you stand on. Safe enough, though.
whispering to Kaylin, Anything can happen abnormally.
(4) Kaylin: It's an interesting place... pretty safe, although it can get confusing.
(4) Kaylin: These gnomes certainly have portals to a variety of places...
(6) Kibin: Uh, why the odd feeling I get?
whispering to Kaylin, Mildly good-aligned; the plane itself hampers evildoers a little.
(4) Kaylin: It's a slightly good-aligned plane.
(6) Kibin: Ah.
** (6) Kibin goes back through the U door, and travels on through the next door. **
(6) Kibin: (Can you repeat the list of the order of letters?)
(3) Elorin: (A, K, U, D, L, R, F, B)
(1) GM: A, K, U, D, L, R, F, B
(1) GM: You've been through K, U, A, D.
(3) Elorin: (next one we haven't explored would be L)
(6) Kibin: (I go through L then.)
(4) Kaylin: (*facepalms* I should have been making a map OOC...)
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [87] = (87)
(6) Kibin: (That's why we have a GM to take care of details like that. :)
(1) GM: You come out under the R passageway; again, the room is identical and empty.
(3) Elorin: (I've been keeping notes)
** (6) Kibin pokes his head inside the portal. **
(1) GM: Go ahead, try and draw this out graphically. I dare you. Make sure to have asprin handy.
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [88] = (88)
(4) Kaylin: (erm. No thanks :P)
whispering to Kibin, you find yourself in a area of highly varied terrain. Nothing particularly special that you can readily tell.
(3) Elorin: (I doubt any of us have 28 intelligence OOC)
(4) Kaylin: (Kaylin has 26 int so she can do this sort of thing. Not me)
** (6) Kibin pokes his head back out. "Okay, that plane seems exactly the same as the material plane." **
(3) Elorin: (18, maybe, ISTR getting 140 on an IQ test officially administered some time back in middle school, and equating the distributions would make 18 int correspond to 140 IQ, but 26 would be 180, which is well beyond any of us)
** (6) Kibin asks, "Kaylin, can you poke your head in and see if you can reconize it?" **
(4) Kaylin: Sure...
** (4) Kaylin pokes her head in **
whispering to Kaylin, you find yourself in a area of highly varied terrain. Nothing particularly special that you can readily tell. - Skill check?
(4) Kaylin (whispering): [1d20 + 16] -> [6,16] = (22)
whispering to Kaylin, Concordant Domain of the Outlands.
** (4) Kaylin removes her head **
(4) Kaylin: It's called the Concordant Domain of the Outlands.
whispering to Kaylin, The meeting place of opposed elements, alignments, and the rest. Dieities often make their homes there.
(6) Kibin: Oookay. And that is?
(4) Kaylin: Frequent home to gods... it's also a neutral ground where various diametrically opposed groups meet - alignments, elements, and the like.
(3) Elorin: So, not the Center.
(3) Elorin: Next!
(3) Elorin: (back through R, then F)
** (6) Kibin goes back through R, goes through R. **
(6) Kibin: (We haven't been to R yet.)
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [91] = (91)
(3) Elorin: (oh, wait, next would be R)
(3) Elorin: (so double R)
(1) GM: You come out under L, and face an empty, identical room.
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [23] = (23)
** (6) Kibin pokes his head inside the portal yet again. **
whispering to Kibin, And sees the metal things fighting, frantically, beasts out of nightmare, standing on the backs of the bodies of what looks like humans, elves, dwarves, gnomes, and several others. Seems to be a bit of a tie, for the moment.
whispering to Kibin, Mostly with your blindsense and any darkvision you might have, though, as you only get breif flashes of light to actually see by in that dark and gloomy place.
** (6) Kibin pokes his head back out. "What looks like beasts out of a nightmare, on the backs of bodies of various humanoids." **
(4) Kaylin: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [3,16] = (19)
whispering to Kaylin, Could be any number of places.
(4) Kaylin: Can't tell from just that.
(6) Kibin: Oh well, don't want to go there anyway.
** (6) Kibin goes back through L, then goes through F. **
(1) GM: You come out under B.
(1) GM: [2d100] -> [8,58] = (66)
(1) GM: And there's something in the room!
(1) GM: A metallic beast, dragging a very large cart, seemingly full of rocks.
(1) GM: Roll vs. Initiative.
(1) GM: Scratch that; need to be going, myself.
(3) Elorin: Dex check: [1d20+6] -> [9,6] = (15)
(6) Kibin: Dex check: [1d20+3] -> [12,3] = (15)
(4) Kaylin: Dex check: [1d20+2] -> [16,2] = (18)
(6) Kibin: (nooooooooo!)
(4) Kaylin: (dinner?)
(1) GM: No, some work I agreed to help with at Church.
(3) Elorin: (from post on forum: "Well, it's going to be a shorter session anyway; have some setup to do at church for tomorrow morning at 2:30 PM, which means I'll need to be leaving at about 2:15 pm Pacific - about four hours after the schedualed start time.")
(4) Kaylin: (ah, OK)
(4) Kaylin: (Well, have fun)
(4) Kaylin: (leaving us on a cliffhanger. Dang you :P)
(1) GM: That... wasn't intentional.
(6) Kibin: (Yes it was, it's all part of your master plot.)
(3) Elorin: (my notes have been saved)
(1) GM: Mine too.
(1) GM: Leaving the server running; might get back at a reasonable hour.
(3) Elorin: (and no, I never even started trying to draw a map; I'm just making a list of nodes and their connections and what planes their portals lead to)
(1) GM: Catch you later.
(6) Kibin: (Well, I'm going to be doing other stuff.)
(6) Kibin: (Just post on the fourms when you get back, I'll check them and come back when I see your post.)
