INFO:
The Fantasy Empires mod is a full conversion mod for Space Empires 4 Gold v1.91+. Player can play one of three races: Orcs, Elves, or Undead in their attempt to cleanse the lands of enemies. Currently, only multiplayer is supported, and multiplayer games can be found at the PBW site (http://seiv.pbw.cc/) or arranged in the shrapnel forums (http://www.shrapnelgames.com)

Installation:
Extract (unzip) the .zip file(s) into your SE4Gold folder using the "All Files," "Overwrite Files" and "Use Folder Names" options (i.e. the default settings for winzip). This will place all the new files in the appropriate subdirectories under the new "FantasyEmpiresMod" folder.

It is highly recommended to use the Mod Launcher by Matryx to play any mod. (alternately, you can use path.txt files). The Mod Launcher is available on the SE4 Gold CD and the Shrapnel Games Forum at http://www.shrapnelgames.com

All Components and Facilities art is from Wizard of the Coast's Magic: The Gathering. Some map art is from Heroes of Might and Magic III. Anything obviously ugly is from me, and you should feel free to contact me to submit new art to replace it. Everything not by me is copyrighted - contact me if you want information on a specific .bmp file.

FAQ:
Here are the unit/ship/component (etc) equivalents:
Equivalancies:
Ships = Characters
Planets = Cities
Star = Aether Nexus
Fighters = Gargoyles
Mines = Wasps
Satellites = Mercenary Camps
Troops = Occupation Forces
Drones = Chaos Spawn
Bases = Outposts
Colony Ships = Foundation Caravan
Seekers = Summon Spells

Why does my ship say I need Fighter Bays?
Most characters have a class weapon that they need to equip - for example, Elves can either have the Elf Shortbow or Elf Longbow. Equipping this weapon will get rid of the fighterbay requirement. If you don't want your character to be armed, select the Unarmed Mount and apply it to this class weapon. This will get rid of the FighterBay requirements.

Why do all the cities have an atmosphere type?
Each atmosphere type represents an alignment, but, unfortunately, the names are hard-coded, so we are stuck with atmospheres in our cities. I considered giving all the cities the same atmosphere, but I think that takes away part of the fun from the SE4 design.
