Sacrifice at Souain*
*
Date: June 12, 1940*
*
Battle Location: Souain-Perthes-Les-Hurlus, France*
*
Battle Type: France delay vs Germany advance*
*
Description: The French 67e BCC tank battalion was equipped with the Renault D1, a tank model the French had deemed obsolete and therefore deployed to their Tunisian colony. However, due to the fortunes of war in 1940 the 67e BCC was recalled home and thus being the sole formation with Renault D1s to fight in France.*
*
Near Souain the 67e BCC went in to the aid of the colonial infantrymen of the II/5e RICMS. It would prove to be a successful yet largely sacrificial mission for the French tankers who had to stand up to the hammerblows of the 8th Panzer Division. It would also be one of the last major tank engagement of the 1940 campaign.*
*
The Renault D1s are slow and their main armament lacks punch but the tank is able to absorb some punishment. Use it to your advantage.*
*
Notes: If played against the AI, the human player should take the French side.*
