(3) Kibin: Oookay.
(1) Jack Simth: Sorry about that; computer froze up, had to be cold-booted.
(2) greymagius: It's cool.. happens to me too
(2) greymagius: Shot you an email... we can discuss at your leisure
** (3) Kibin yawns. **
(1) Jack Simth: What really bytes is I lost my gametree... still, I have backups of the more important bits.
(3) Kibin: Still have my character sheet?
(1) Jack Simth: No. At least, nothing recent.
(3) Kibin has sent you a tree node...
(1) Jack Simth: Ookay, got it; didn't catch anyone's response to the possiblility of a quick level-2 game.
(2) greymagius: Willing to try, though I am a neophyte on ORPG
(3) Kibin: I could try...
(2) greymagius: Thanks Jack...Default stats OK?
(1) Jack Simth: Just sent you a blank character template; the tool's designed for 3.0, so a few of the skills, spells, and feat selections will be different, but it shouldn't make too much difference at 2nd.
(1) Jack Simth: 4d6 drop lowest, or eleite array if you prefer.
(1) Jack Simth: Gah, ay kant spel.
(3) Kibin: 32 pointbuy?
(2) greymagius: Don't think so.. I'll probably cheat and use a Random quick generator Ever use Jamis Bucks?
(1) Jack Simth: Yes, for most, if not all, my NPC's.
(1) Jack Simth: Available Here
(3) Kibin: I shall be a bard! Yay bards!
(1) Jack Simth: So, about ready? Other room's Password is cheese (based on a joke)
(3) Kibin: Almost ready, I'll be there once I'm done with my character.
(2) greymagius: Fighter/Sorcer? Female half orc?
(3) Kibin: You, sir, are weird.
(1) Jack Simth: It's a farily standard Gish build at lower levels; True Strike and a handful of others don't have Somatic component, and thus can be cast in armor.....
(1) Jack Simth: If you never plan on going over 2nd or 3rd level spells, you don't need more than 12 or 13 charisma.
(1) Jack Simth: And the Sorceror is mostly because of the extra spell slots, and the lack of a spellbook to depend on. Catch with odd races is that one of the classes needs to be favored.
(3) Kibin: Hehe, a comedy bard.
(2) greymagius: Was done as a true random LOL
(1) Jack Simth: Well, ready? I think I've got my paper-thin plot ready.
(3) Kibin: Anyway... percussion, string, or wind. Hmmm.
(3) Kibin: Eh, I'll just hum.
(1) Jack Simth: Perform(Hum)?
(3) Kibin: Yes, forces the enemy to make a sanity check or become temporarily insane. :D
(3) Kibin: Nah, string. I shall be a beautiful violin player!
(3) Kibin: Do bards need a spell component pouch?
(1) Jack Simth: If they select spells that require focuses or material components, yes. Otherwise, not really. Ditto for Sorcerors.
(1) Jack Simth: What spells did you pick?
(3) Kibin: None so far. :P
(3) Kibin: Trying to decide what to spend 222 money on,
(3) Kibin: Okay, cure potions it is.
(3) Kibin: Wheee, think I'm done now.
(3) Kibin: Uh, but it's in HTML format.
(1) Jack Simth: Which merely means typing up the attack rolls and such. Not too much of an issue.
(1) Jack Simth: Shorbow attack: [1d20+3] -> [13,3] = (16) for [1d6] -> [3] = (3)
(1) Jack Simth: Not particularly difficult.
(1) Jack Simth: Depending on how fast you type.
(3) Kibin: I have a diplomacy check of 13. O.o
(2) greymagius: Shall I send the character back to you?
(1) Jack Simth: If you like; not particularly important, as I don't plan to spend all that much time reviewing unless something a little odd pops up in the game.
(2) greymagius has sent you a tree node...
(2) greymagius: Will send, for your edification
(1) Jack Simth: So, everyone about ready?
(2) greymagius: Whenever, diodn't go hard core onequipment.
(2) greymagius: Figure it's easy to assumne basics
(1) Jack Simth: In that case, see you in the D and D room (remember, password cheese)
Moving to room 'D and D'..

(3) Kibin (enter): 10:54
(3) Kibin: (I'm a bard with a violin, yay!)
(1) GM: Early one morning, you hear a commotion outside your village huts. A little while later, a village elder knocks on your doors, and becons you come to the town square.
(2) Mathilda: Scratches head and wanders out
** (3) Kibin comes to the town square with everyone else. **
(1) GM: At the town square, you see the head elder talking to a band of ten or so goblins, who are carrying a white flag, and seem to be respecting the rules of truces.
(1) GM: Head Elder: Ah, they're here. Good.
(1) GM: Goblin with skull helm (made from a human skull, from the looks of it): These are your strongest? They don't look like much for ours. Still, it is the rules.
(2) Mathilda: Thinks the Goblins are too small to eat.. not that civilized Orc bloods eat goblins :)
(3) Kibin: (There's a glorious /me command, you know.)
(2) Mathilda: thanks
(1) GM: Head Elder: Yeah, well, we're just a rural village. You'll hold to the agreement? Our two strongest against your one?
(3) Kibin: (And it's customary to put OOC in ()
(1) GM: The goblin grins evilly, and the light glints of his fangs.
(2) Mathilda: ( :) Neophyte, just learning )
** (2) Mathilda so we fight? **
(1) GM: Goblin: Yes, you're two against our one, just after dusk tonight. Ours win, you flee, leaving all your belongings behind. Yours win, we leave your village untouched. Don't agree? Well, there's a few more of us than you.....
(1) GM: Almost on que, you hear the sound of many chattering goblins from the bushes outside the village.
(1) GM: Head Elder: Agreed. Tonight, then, just after dusk.
(1) GM: The goblins snicker, like they've got a surprise waiting, and start to head off.
** (2) Mathilda looks at the elder, "We fighting tonight then?" **
(1) GM: Head Elder: That is the plan, yes. The two of you were always the best of us at taking down wolves and things when the other shepherds were having trouble....
** (2) Mathilda OK.. we kill goblins.. but no eat... **
** (3) Kibin seems almost aloof to the situation at hand, but nods in acceptance. **
(1) GM: Head Elder: And we can neither afford to get burned to the ground, nor fight the horde, nor face this winter without our stocks of food. Seems the least bad of the lot.
(3) Kibin: (Hehe. This'll be fun.)
** (2) Mathilda I no trust goblins... maybe we better have plan Kibin **
(3) Kibin: (What's to prevent sorcerers from not gaining their new spells known each level at the level, and instead gaining them during the plot?)
(1) GM: The head elder shakes his head, and looks a little exhausted. You'll be excused from any of your normal duties, for today, at least, to give you time to prepare... or make your peace, whichever you prefer.
(1) GM: Head Elder: And do win, okay? They're not lying, but they are hiding something.
** (3) Kibin nods again, and practices playing his violin until just before the battle. **
** (2) Mathilda gets her studded leather armor out and prepares her crossbow and morningstar. **
(1) GM: That evening, you see two goblins, with a mottled brown thing, eight feet tall, between them, walk into the village square.
(1) GM: Goblin: Here is our best! Have at him! Remember, no interference!
(3) Kibin: (Are there any rules preventing you from casting a buffing spell just before the battle?)
(1) GM: It's vaguely humanoid, wears some crude leathers, and carries a club as tall as it is. Stinks, too.
** (2) Mathilda that no goblin **
(1) GM: Goblin: He in our tribe. You no human. Is fair.
(1) GM: Goblin: Two of you. One of him. Is fair.
** (2) Mathilda shakes head.. OK.. fair then **
(1) GM: The goblins chitter in a non-human tongue in the fading light... what languages does everyone know?
(3) Kibin: (Draconic, elven, and common here.)
(2) Mathilda: (Common and orc)
(3) Kibin: (How many level 1 bonus spells do you get with a charisma of 18?)
(1) GM: Nobody understands the language, then, but the eight-foot giant grins.
(1) GM: One.
(3) Kibin: (Heh, okay. Yay.)
(1) GM: To get 2, you'd need at least a 20.
(1) GM: Then readies his club.
(1) GM: The goblins back off.
(1) GM: The thing roars.
(1) GM: Roll for initiative.
(1) GM: [1d20-1] -> [16,-1] = (15)
(3) Kibin: [1d20+4
(3) Kibin: [1d20+6] -> [7,6] = (13)
(3) Kibin: (Well. That sucks.)
(2) Mathilda: [1d20+1] -> [14,1] = (15)
(3) Kibin: (Can I cast a spell before the battle begins like I was going to do? Say, a resistance spell?)
(1) GM: House rule: re-roll ties.
(1) GM: [1d20-1] -> [15,-1] = (14)
(2) Mathilda: [1d20+1] -> [5,1] = (6)
(1) GM: 8-foot ugly, Mathilda, Kibin.
(1) GM: Yeah, you can start with Resistance up, if you like.
(2) Mathilda: (like Kibin said, I'd like Shield up if possible)
** (3) Kibin casts Resistance on Mathilda just before the battle begins. **
(1) GM: The ugly thing Charges Mathilda, as she looks like the biggest baddest threat.
(3) Kibin: (*laughs evilly*)
(2) Mathilda: (AC with Shield 18)
(1) GM: Great Club [1d20+10] -> [17,10] = (27) for [2d8+7] -> [5,4,7] = (16)
(3) Kibin (whispering): Also, how is save DC calculated? Spell level + defining attribute?
(1) GM: 10 + spell level + ability mod; a 1st level spell with charisma 18 would have a DC of 15.
(3) Kibin: (Cool, thanks.)
(1) GM: And that's a hit; take 16 damage as a chunk of wood bigger than you are slams into your side.
(2) Mathilda: (and I'm down, only started with 14 HP)
(3) Kibin: (Ouch...)
(2) Mathilda: (LOL is fate)
(1) GM: Ah. Stabilization check?
(3) Kibin: (So Mathilda, make stabilizing roll...)
(2) Mathilda: (umm, not familiar with that, what roll please?)
(1) GM: Knocking you flying, apparently.
(3) Kibin: (Roll 1d10.)
(3) Kibin: (On a 1, you stabilize.)
(2) Mathilda: [1d10] -> [5] = (5)
(3) Kibin: (Heh. My turn?)
(1) GM: Fail, take 1 point of damage, and have to do the same next time your turn comes up.
(1) GM: Mathilda bleeds on the ground.
(1) GM: Yep.
(2) Mathilda: (ah, that stabilixzation check)
(1) GM: Putting you at -3.
(2) Mathilda: (OK)
** (3) Kibin tosses tiny tarts at the ugly thing, tosses a feather into the air, and plays a tune on his violin to cast Hideous Laughter. **
(3) Kibin: (Save DC 15... and if this fails, we dead.)
(1) GM: Different type, so he gets a +4 bonus, Will save: [1d20+1+4] -> [11,1,4] = (16)
(3) Kibin: ( :( (
(3) Kibin: (Worth a shot, at least.)
(2) Mathilda: (maybe he'll miss you...)
(1) GM: The thing looks at you, momentarily confused, and walks over and tries to smash you.
(3) Kibin: (Heh, 1 in 4 chance of it.)
(1) GM: Greatclub [1d20+8] -> [3,8] = (11) for [2d8+7] -> [4,4,7] = (15)
(3) Kibin: (Yay, pain time...)
** (3) Kibin leaps out of the way of the greatclub as it smashes to the ground. **
(1) GM: Luckily, you manage to dodge out fo the way. The club shatters a couple of cobblestones.
(1) GM: Mathilda - stabilization check.
(2) Mathilda: [1d10] -> [8] = (8)
(2) Mathilda: (down to minus 4)
(3) Kibin: (How long does it seem like Mathilda has to go before she dies?)
(1) GM: Mathilda continues to pour her life blood out on the ground.
(1) GM: Heal check?
(1) GM: And Kibin's turn.
(3) Kibin: Heal Skill Check: [1d20+1] -> [2,1] = (3)
(3) Kibin: (Well, that sucks. :P)
(1) GM: She'll be fine...... wake up with a bit of a headache in no time at all.
(2) Mathilda: (LOL)
(1) GM: Shucks, you can hardly figure out why she's lying there right now.
(1) GM: Reactive attemt; what are you doing with your turn?
** (3) Kibin drops his violin on the ground, takes out his rapier, and steps in and attempts to stab the ugly thing. He thinks that Mathilda is going to be just fine. **
(1) GM: The violin hits the ground with a disharmonious sound.
(3) Kibin: [1d20+4] -> [8,4] = (12)
(3) Kibin: (I... don't suppose that hit.)
(1) GM: Your sword scrapes off the beast's thick skin and mottled hair.
(3) Kibin: (Ah, well...)
(1) GM: And the thing steps back, and goes for a two-handed downward smash......Greatclub [1d20+8] -> [10,8] = (18) for [2d8+7] -> [1,6,7] = (14)
(1) GM: AC?
(3) Kibin: And Kibin is all smushylike on the ground now.
(2) Mathilda: (Mathilda no like this village much anyway)
(1) GM: Base HP?
(3) Kibin: (10. Heh.)
(1) GM: Putting you at -4, same as Mathilda. Hmm.
(1) GM: The club smashes down, hitting Kibin on the head, knocking him unconscious immediately.
(3) Kibin: (Notice that it can take down an average fighter down in one hit. :P)
(2) Mathilda: (LOL.. I guess the critter lacks Mathilda's discerning palet)
(3) Kibin: (Average of 16 damage with that greatclub, fighters have an average of 15.5 HP.)
(1) GM: Hmm... a Fighter-2 would have about 15 hp from levels, more from Con. Average hit deals 16 damage; any Fighter worth his salt could take one average hit, 2nd dropping him.
(1) GM: Make three stabilization checks, everyone....
(3) Kibin: (Okay, maybe with CON.)
(3) Kibin: [1d10] -> [10] = (10)
(3) Kibin: [1d10] -> [3] = (3)
(1) GM: [1d20+5] -> [19,5] = (24)
(2) Mathilda: [1d10] -> [1] = (1)
(3) Kibin: [1d10] -> [1] = (1)
(1) GM: [1d20+5] -> [13,5] = (18)
(2) Mathilda: [1d10] -> [7] = (7)
(1) GM: [1d20+5] -> [8,5] = (13)
(3) Kibin: (Yayz!
(2) Mathilda: (Hey, stabalized at -5)
(3) Kibin: (Stabilized, at, uh...)
(3) Kibin: (-6. Whoooo.)
(1) GM: Two days later, you both wake up, with nothing but the clothes on your backs, sorely injured, lying under a canopy of leaves, with a few of the elders standing over you.
(1) GM: Elder: Ah, you're awake, then?
** (3) Kibin sits up, rubbing his head. Ow. **
** (2) Mathilda head hurt, but yes.. alive **
(1) GM: The leaves have definately started to change colors, and there is a definate chill in the air.
(3) Kibin: (Do spell component pouches count as clothes?)
(1) GM: (Nope - and the ones you're in were your worst rags.)
(3) Kibin: (Yaaaaaay, we lost. x.x)
(1) GM: Even the Head Elder is dressed in rags.
(4) Kaylin (enter): 11:31
(4) Kaylin: (... wow, I fell asleep on OpenRPG. That's new. :(
(3) Kibin: (O.o)
(3) Kibin: (FEAR MY LEVEL 2 BARD!)
** (2) Mathilda It OK head elder, we make things better **
(1) GM: Head Elder: Well, it was worth a try. At least they did keep up their end, even allowing us to fix you up before dragging you out.
** (2) Mathilda Me still have to no eat goblins? **
(1) GM: Missing lots of players, had a visitor, so made up a quick level-2 game. Interested?
(1) GM: The head elder scratches his head.
(2) Mathilda: (can't stay too long, have a real time L5R game later today)
(3) Kibin: (We could have an adventure with just me, Kaylin, and Jason.)
(3) Kibin: (Like when I got captured by that black dragon.)
(4) Kaylin: (I think I'll just watch for a bit, or maybe go back to sleep. Stayed up all night trying to get a computer to work after the PSU died on it)
(4) Kaylin: (Thanks anyways)
(1) GM: Head Elder: Well, the deal was just for that day, technically, so if you wanted to re-take the village, you could try, but......
(3) Kibin: Where are our items?
whispering to Kaylin, Dead power supply? Och; those have a nasty habit of taking other components down with them.
** (2) Mathilda says "Need weapons and armor yes" **
(4) Kaylin (whispering): Yeah... for a while it looked like other stuff died too, but it seems OK
(1) GM: Head Elder: Probably somewhere in the village. The goblins took everything except the worst rags. Those who resisted got squished by the big brute, those who handed everything over willingly didn't get scratched, those that were hesitant got beaten a little.
(3) Kibin: (I'm so glad I took 3 ranks in hide and move silently.)
(1) GM: Only one person got killed... thank Odin for small favors.
(2) Mathilda: (perhaps some other time continue with tihis, but I fear I'll need to go soon)
(1) GM: Well, have a nice day. Perhaps see you later.
(1) GM: This is a decent stopping point, and I don't imagine your character has the stealth to sneak into the village to retrieve anything....
(2) Mathilda: (Thanks to all, appreciate the chance to play with the program)
(2) Mathilda: Disconnecting from server...
(2) Mathilda (exit): 11:38
(3) Kibin: (I have stealth! :)
(3) Kibin: (+5 modifiers to both hide and move silently.)
(3) Kibin: (Plus I bluff! I bluff gooooood.)
(1) GM: Yes, but consider the Half-Orc Fighter/Sorceror - lower dex, Hide not a class skill.....
(3) Kibin: (Simple, I go in alone, if found, I state that I would simply like my violin back, and nothing more.)
(1) GM: Sounds like a plan.
(3) Kibin: (Then I put them all in a bag, and if anyone ELSE stops me, I simply reply it's a few worthless family heirlooms that they need not worry about.)
(3) Kibin: (Weapons? I didn't know there were weapons in there!)
(3) Kibin: (Then I run. O.o)
(3) Kibin: (Yay, I need to play more bards.)
(3) Kibin: (*pokes Kaylin*)
(1) GM: So... waiting around a few days to heal up, did you take Cure Light, or what?
(3) Kibin: (Yup, I have cure light wounds.)
(4) Kaylin: (Yep, Kibin?)
(1) GM: Casting it? You've definately been resting....
(1) GM: For a few days....
(3) Kibin: (Sure, if I'm not missing my spleen.)
(3) Kibin: (I mean if I'm missing my spleen. Doh.)
(1) GM: You were at -5, two days full rest at level 2 means you get 8 hp back, currently at 3 hp.
(3) Kibin: (Yay cure light wounds!)
(3) Kibin: [1d8+2] -> [2,2] = (4)
(3) Kibin: (Yay now at 7 HP!)
** (3) Kibin waits till night, then sneaks towards goblin village. **
(1) GM: Resting the equivalent of another night.... +2 HP.
(1) GM: Hide check?
(3) Kibin: Hide Skill Check: [1d20+5] -> [11,5] = (16)
(1) GM: [1d20+2] -> [10,2] = (12)
(3) Kibin: *sneaksneaksneak*
(1) GM: You manage to get to the village unseen.
(1) GM: The place is a wreck; most of the hovels have been knocked down, many of the animals appear to have been cooked, but the stacks of firewood don't appear to be meaningfully depleted. You see a few goblins busily putting the last of the village's food stocks into a wooden cart.
(3) Kibin: (And?)
(1) GM: Spot check?
(3) Kibin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20-1] -> [8,-1] = (7)
(1) GM: You hardly see any goblins at all, and don't see the Brute that smacked you down so hard.
(1) GM: Where to next?
** (3) Kibin sneaks around, looking for the weapons, armor, and items that he and the fighter lost. Mainly his rapier, spell component pouch, and armor. **
(1) GM: Hide and Spot checks?
(1) GM: [1d20+2] -> [9,2] = (11)
(1) GM: Also, Move Silently.
(3) Kibin: Hide Skill Check: [1d20+5] -> [14,5] = (19)
(1) GM: [1d20+2] -> [16,2] = (18)
(3) Kibin: Move Silently Skill Check: [1d20+5] -> [7,5] = (12)
(3) Kibin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20-1] -> [5,-1] = (4)
(1) GM: You lose sight of the cart in the darkness.
(1) GM: Listen check?
(1) GM: [1d20+5] -> [2,5] = (7)
(3) Kibin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20-1] -> [18,-1] = (17)
(1) GM: [1d20+5] -> [11,5] = (16)
(1) GM: You hear a few whispers; do you speak Goblin?
(3) Kibin: (Nope.)
(1) GM: You have no idea what's said.
(3) Kibin: (So I shall remain clueless as is my way. Yay!)
** (3) Kibin sneaks around some more to look for items. **
(1) GM: Hide, Move Silently, and Search?
(3) Kibin: Hide Skill Check: [1d20+5] -> [19,5] = (24)
(3) Kibin: Move Silently Skill Check: [1d20+5] -> [17,5] = (22)
(3) Kibin: Search Skill Check: [1d20+1] -> [14,1] = (15)
(3) Kibin: (*sneaksneaksneak*)
(1) GM: You find that most of the village goods have already been taken away somewhere; you manage to find an old dagger, and your pouch (dropped as worthless), and find half of your violin... in what appears to be an improvised wood pile, next to a fire, over which cooks a sheep.
(3) Kibin: (They... broke... my... VIOLIN!)
(1) GM: (to burn, yes. Goblins are evil.)
(3) Kibin: (Hmmm. How many goblins are there?)
(1) GM: You've seen five of them; one attending to the fire, two patrolling the village, two loading stuff up.
(3) Kibin: (Are the two patrolling the village in pairs?)
(1) GM: Nope. Although they do look slightly more nervous than they ought to be, having just conquered the place.
(3) Kibin: (Ooo...)
(3) Kibin: (Can I reach up behind one, grab them by the mouth so they can't speak, then slit their throat? : )
(1) GM: You can try, although they do seem to be keeping away from stuff that could be used as cover.
(1) GM: (a pre-requisite for hiding; there's enough for you to get around, though)
** (3) Kibin attempts to get one by themselves, sneak up behind them, then grab them from behind them like that and kill them without a sound with the dagger. **
(1) GM: Spot check?
(3) Kibin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20-1] -> [16,-1] = (15)
(1) GM: You manage to find a spot to maybe hide where the goblin will be walking that is a scant five feet from his probable path. Hide check?
(3) Kibin: Hide Skill Check: [1d20+5] -> [11,5] = (16)
(1) GM: And Move Silently.
(1) GM: [1d20+2] -> [3,2] = (5), [1d20+2] -> [15,2] = (17)
(3) Kibin: Move Silently Skill Check: [1d20+5] -> [3,5] = (8)
(3) Kibin: (Meh. Oh well.)
(3) Kibin: (At least I survived without being spotted this long. :D)
(3) Kibin: (Sneaky missions are fun. O.o)
(1) GM: The goblin seems to hear you in the particular bit of rubble, as it crumbles under your feet, and takes a pot-shot with his Javelin.
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [60] = (60)
(1) GM: [1d20+3] -> [17,3] = (20) for [1d4] -> [2] = (2)
(3) Kibin: (Ow. Pain.)
(1) GM: And that's a hit, despite total concealment. Will save to avoid shouting in pain?
(3) Kibin: Will save: [1d20+2] -> [6,2] = (8)
(3) Kibin: (Will save? What's that? O.o)
(1) GM: DC 10; Failure. You scream out like a pansy, and the Goblin draws his morningstar as he raises an alarm.
(1) GM: Roll for initiative.
(3) Kibin: [1d20+6] -> [3,6] = (9)
(3) Kibin: (Meh.)
(1) GM: [1d20+1] -> [3,1] = (4), [1d20+1] -> [12,1] = (13)
(1) GM: Listen check?
(3) Kibin: Listen Skill Check: [1d20-1] -> [6,-1] = (5)
(1) GM: You make out the tap-tap of feet running on cobblestones.
(1) GM: Your turn.
(3) Kibin: (Ooookay...)
(3) Kibin: (Are any within threatening distance?)
(3) Kibin: (For me, that is.)
(1) GM: You can 5-foot out of cover and try to hit the one that hit you with the javelin.
(3) Kibin: (Is the one that hit me with the javelin theatening me?)
(1) GM: He's still technically flat-footed.
(1) GM: But he has a morningstar drawn.
(3) Kibin: (Oh.)
(3) Kibin: (Okay then...)
** (3) Kibin runs for cover to hide, then. **
(3) Kibin: (Other than where I was hiding. :P)
(1) GM: Umm... you realize you can't hide while observed, right?
(3) Kibin: (Hmmm.)
(3) Kibin: (Bluff check, then? O.o)
(3) Kibin: Or... I could talk my way out. Yay talking!
(3) Kibin: ()
(1) GM: Standard action bluff, and you're limited to finding something within 1 foot per rank in Hide, and the Hide check is still at -10
** (3) Kibin silently drops the dagger, then, stands up, and raises his hands to surrender. **
(3) Kibin: I surrender?
(1) GM: From the plan, this is a deception, so Bluff check?
(1) GM: [1d20-1] -> [12,-1] = (11)
(3) Kibin: (Uh, no. This is to surrender or something. So I don't get stabbed in vital organs.)
(3) Kibin: Bluff Skill Check: [1d20+9] -> [18,9] = (27)
(1) GM: He buys it - hook, line, and sinker.
(3) Kibin: (There's a sinker in there somewhere?)
(1) GM: Goblin: Gwanashaniginlah!
(1) GM: The other goblin on guard duty quickly catches up, and they converse for a time.
** (3) Kibin hums a tune while he waits. **
(1) GM: The newcommer readies a javelin, while the other fetches the one sticking out of you, puts it in it's case, and starts poking you towards the village square with his morningstar.
(1) GM: He's a might rough about it. Take 1 point of damage.
** (3) Kibin thinks, "Ow, poky." **
(1) GM: Going along peacefully?
(3) Kibin: (Yup.)
(1) GM: At the village square, the place is a bit of a wreck; the two that had been loading up the last of the supplies seem to have finished tossing them into the cart.
(1) GM: The goblin tending the fire and the cooking sheep turns to you.
(1) GM: Goblin: What you for? Deal done, you run.
(1) GM: Goblin: No be in village. Village our village. You get it back in nother day. We leaving anyway.
(3) Kibin: I was trying to find my violin.
(1) GM: Goblin: Next village! More tasties.
(1) GM: Goblin: You mean ours. What's that?
(3) Kibin: An instrument used to play music.
(1) GM: The goblin tosses the remains of your violin onto the fire.
(3) Kibin: (Dang it, that was 100 gold pieces for that violin. :P)
(1) GM: Goblin: War drums? You no have. Drums our drums.
(1) GM: (masterwork, for the bonus to perform? Ouch.)
(1) GM: In the wood pile, you also see pieces of furniture, drapes, structural beams from some of the hovels, but not the standard firewood stacked up by the villagers for the purpose.
(1) GM: Goblin: Hmm... you tasty....
(1) GM: The goblin looks back at the sheep on the spit.
(3) Kibin: I'm much too stringy to eat...
(1) GM: Goblin: Maybe tomorrow. Already have dinner.
(1) GM: Goblin: Wait... leaving tomorrow. Ah, breakfast!
(1) GM: Goblin: Shadmakalunagilgmagrag.
(1) GM: Another goblin apporaches you with a rope, and begins tying you up.
(3) Kibin: (Is there any obstructing terrain features nearby?)
(1) GM: There's the cart.
(3) Kibin: (Like, say, hills or mountains?)
(1) GM: A few broken down hovels. But it's primarily a farming village; they looked for flat land with nearby water and wood.
(3) Kibin: (Meh. Any place at all to hide an army?)
(1) GM: Possibly the forest.
(3) Kibin: (Yay!)
(1) GM: Resisting being tied?
(3) Kibin: (No... be quiet, trying to make a save-or-geteaten bluff check here.)
(1) GM: After a few minutes, you're all tied up... in the village elder's best sashes. Hardly recognizeable; they seem to have been dragged through the mud.
** (3) Kibin decides to tell the 'truth'. "Please don't eat me! The reason why I'm here is not to find my violin, but as a scout. A nearby army has heard about your attack, and stationed themselves in the forest nearby. I am a scout, meant to relay information about your forces to them. If you let me go, we can arrange a peaceful comprimise, and I can go back there to call the army off." **
(1) GM: You then get pushed into a pile of rubble, and have to sit there and watch while the dirty things devour the sheep carcass, leaving nothing but the bones.
(3) Kibin: (That was to the guy cooking sheep. :P)
(1) GM: Okay, that's a stretch... bluff check?
(3) Kibin: Bluff Skill Check: [1d20+9] -> [5,9] = (14)
(3) Kibin: (Stupid roll. WHY HAVE YOU FAILED ME BLUFF CHECK!(
(1) GM: [1d20-1] -> [13,-1] = (12)
(1) GM: Goblin: Bah! Were there an army, our scouts would know about it. Gamblagingradilmiogudem
(3) Kibin: No, there's not an army there, but there will be...
(1) GM: Another of the goblins walks up to you, stuffs a dirty sock in your mouth (it tastes terribly) and binds it in place with another sash.
(1) GM: Goblin: No matter; tomorrow, we join the rest of horde.
(3) Kibin: (Meh. :P)
(3) Kibin: (So much for distracting the guard.)
(1) GM: They finish eating up, and dig out some clay jugs, and start drinking. After a while, most of them fall asleep, leaving just two half-awake and slightly tipsy.
(1) GM: They don't seem to be paying too much attention to you.
** (3) Kibin works on loosing the bonds quietly, trying to not look like he's doing anything. **
(1) GM: Bluff check?
(3) Kibin: Bluff Skill Check: [1d20+9] -> [3,9] = (12)
(1) GM: [1d20-3] -> [5,-3] = (2)
(3) Kibin: (Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay poor rolls. x.x)
(3) Kibin: (... yay poor rolls on both sides? o.o)
(1) GM: The guards, in their semi-druken, half-asleep stupor, don't seem to notice much.
(3) Kibin: Escape Artist Skill Check: [1d20+7] -> [17,7] = (24)
(1) GM: [1d20+11] -> [18,11] = (29)
(1) GM: Unfortunately, the goblin that tied you seems to have known most of his business, although in the process of finding out you are well and truely stuck, you do notice that while you're bound, you aren't tied to anything.
** (3) Kibin mumbles with the dirty sock in his mouth, trying to convince one of the goblins to take out the gag so he can say something. **
(1) GM: [1d20-3] -> [14,-3] = (11)
(3) Kibin: Bluff Skill Check: [1d20+9] -> [4,9] = (13)
(1) GM: [1d20-3] -> [17,-3] = (14)
(1) GM: The guard appears to hear you, but know better.
(1) GM: The guards toss a few more things on the fire, and stop to watch the pretty, hungry, consuming flames, rather than the stupid thing writhing on the ground.
(1) GM: You find you can move around a little by rolling.
(1) GM: Although those broken cobbles look like they'd hurt a might.
** (3) Kibin silently tries cutting the sashes on the ground with the broken cobbles. **
(1) GM: Move Silently check?
(1) GM: [1d20-3] -> [4,-3] = (1)
(3) Kibin: (On the back of me, so they won't suspect anything.)
(3) Kibin: Move Silently Skill Check: [1d20+5] -> [13,5] = (18)
(1) GM: Take [1d4] -> [1] = (1) damage yourself.
(1) GM: But you do manage to get loose.
(1) GM: Oh, and Will save.
(3) Kibin: Will save: [1d20+2] -> [17,2] = (19)
(1) GM: Passed; you manage not to curse as you cut yourself through your bonds.
(3) Kibin: (Can't curse, the gag? O.o)
(1) GM: Yes, but you'd still make noise screaming incoherently.
(3) Kibin: (Hehe. Hmmm.)
** (3) Kibin looks up to see if there's anything he can push over on the sleeping goblin horde if he sneaks away. **
(1) GM: Flat terrain, most the hovels already partially demolished. Nothing that looks like it'd do much.
** (3) Kibin gets up, then sneaks silently away into the shadows. **
(1) GM: Move Silently?
** (3) Kibin takes his bonds with him, as well. **
(1) GM: [1d20-3] -> [18,-3] = (15)
(3) Kibin: Move Silently Skill Check: [1d20+5] -> [7,5] = (12)
(3) Kibin: (Dang.)
(1) GM: The goblins at the fire turn at the noise: Hey, you!
(1) GM: Roll for initiative.
(3) Kibin: (Can I lay back down quickly, making it look like I'm still tied up?)
(3) Kibin: (Eh, nevermind. :P)
(3) Kibin: [1d20+6] -> [5,6] = (11)
(1) GM: [1d20-1] -> [12,-1] = (11), [1d20-1] -> [5,-1] = (4)
(1) GM: [1d20-1] -> [15,-1] = (14)
(3) Kibin: [1d20+6] -> [1,6] = (7)
(3) Kibin: (Please roll low please.... dang.)
(1) GM: Goblin 1, You, Goblin 2.
(1) GM: Goblin 1 drunkenly throws a Javelin at you.
(1) GM: [1d20+1] -> [2,1] = (3) for [1d4] -> [4] = (4)
(1) GM: And it clatters on the cobblestones.
(3) Kibin: (Heh. What type of action is it to take a gag off? Move action?)
(3) Kibin: (Can I take the gag off then make a bluff check?)
(1) GM: Of yourself? Full round.
(1) GM: Especially as you still ahve to get the dirty sock out.
** (3) Kibin takes the gag out, replying and a bit hoping that they'll actually believe it in their drunken stupor, "I'm just a figment of your imagination, pay no attention to me." **
(1) GM: [1d20-3] -> [14,-3] = (11)
(1) GM: Buff check?
(3) Kibin: Bluff Skill Check: [1d20+9] -> [20,9] = (29)
(3) Kibin: (Wow. O.o)
(1) GM: The one that threw the javelin nods, and turns back to the fire.
(1) GM: The other, unfortunately, doesn't seem to understand common, and throws his javelin.
(1) GM: [1d20+1] -> [19,1] = (20) for [1d4] -> [1] = (1)
(3) Kibin: (Ow.)
(1) GM: Your turn again.
(3) Kibin: (How many more javelins do they have? O.o)
(1) GM: They carry three each; two remaining per wakeful goblin.
(1) GM: One of which is ignoring you for the moment.
** (3) Kibin casts Prestidigitation, and uses it to change his color to purple so that the remaining goblin that doesn't think he's an illusion thinks he's an illusion(bypassing language barriers, yay!) **
(1) GM: Bluff check?
(3) Kibin: Bluff Skill Check: [1d20+9] -> [12,9] = (21)
(1) GM: [1d20-3] -> [4,-3] = (1)
(1) GM: The other goblin shrugs, walks over and starts picking up the javelins.
** (3) Kibin walks away, then, continue to change his color to random things as he does so to keep up with the bluff. **
(1) GM: You manage to get away.
** (3) Kibin walks back to the village then, changing his color back to normal once out of sight of the goblin tribe. Picking up the dagger on the way back. **
(1) GM: Hiding from the villagers?
(3) Kibin: (Uh... no?)
(1) GM: A few of the shepherds seem to be on night watch; they greet you as you come in, sadly, noting your fresh wounds and mostly empty hands. Still, they seem happy to see you survived the encounter.
(1) GM: They seem to have spent some time working on quarterstaves, clubs, and slings.....
(3) Kibin: (Okay... not much else to do... can we go to main campaign now? Doing something without Eldon and Elorin till they come...)
(1) GM: Fair enough. You up for something, Kaylin?
whispering to Kaylin, You awake and at your computer?
whispering to Kaylin, Would seem not. Hmm....
(3) Kibin: (Hehe. That was fun.)
(1) GM:

(1) GM: Yeah, yeah it was.
(3) Kibin: (Bluffs are fun. :D)
(1) GM: And effective vs. Half-asleep, half-drunk goblins.
(5) Lae'nial (enter): 12:51
(1) GM: Morning.
(1) GM: Well, afternoon, now.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Or a semblance thereof.)
(3) Kibin: (Half tempted to just pick up a bunch of stuff, too. Some ale, maybe the sleeping goblin's lances...
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Sorry I'm late.)
(3) Kibin: (Hey. I might could even convince the goblin to draw mustaches on everyone! :D)
(3) Kibin: (Then the goblin tribe wakes up with barely any weapons, with mustauches and glasses on all of them. With the prisoner gone. :D)
(3) Kibin: (Ah well. *pokes Eldon and Kaylin*)
whispering to Kaylin, Awake?
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Og)
(1) GM: Seems Violist's asleep.
(3) Kibin: (*brings Kibin the Dragon's sheet up*)
(4) Kaylin: (Yo)
(1) GM: Ready to try a short session of the standard campaign?
(3) Kibin: (How is it short?)
(3) Kibin: (It's probally going to go on for about 6 and a half hours.)
(4) Kaylin: (Absolutely)
(1) GM: Okay then....
(1) GM:

(1) GM: When we last left our hero's, they were finishing up a shopping trip on the Twin Paradises of Bytopia.
** (3) Kibin has an idea! He investigates getting his amulet enchanted with a constitution enchantment... **
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Yeah, we can do that. How much do you want tacked on?
(3) Kibin: (56,000, I think?)
(3) Kibin: How much can you put on?
(1) GM: We have three levels on them - Apprentice, Wizard, Sorceror. Tends to toughen people up fairly well.
(3) Kibin: Sorceror is good then. How much would it be?
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Assuming you want the existing enchantments preserved, you're looking at a commision cost of 54,000 gold crowns.
(3) Kibin: Ah, okay, sounds good.
(4) Kaylin: (say, what was the loot division from last session?)
** (3) Kibin pays about 5,400 platnium pieces, then, and hands over the amulet to get another enchantment on it. **
(1) GM: (15,000 pp per; 150,000 gp value)
(4) Kaylin: (Tome of Clear Thought, here I come..)
(3) Kibin: (*wonders why magic shops don't put an enchantment in, say, a gem, then touch that to a magic item to transfer the right power to it. Hmmm.*)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Erm, Eldon refuses to be payed by bad guys.)
(1) GM: Per player. Eldon's segment is kinda floating, as he wasn't willing to accept payment, but nobody else has attempted to claim it, nor has any words been spoken of divvying it up amongst the others, et cetera.
(3) Kibin: (I want it! :)
(3) Kibin: (And I suppose the enchantment is successful or whatever?)
(1) GM: The shoppekeeper takes your current amulet, walks into the portal for well-neigh an hour, takes payment, and gives you your amulet back.
(1) GM: [15000/50] -> 300
(1) GM: So, what's Eldon doing with the 300 pound bag of platinum pieces Kibin handed him? This does kinda need to be role-played out.
** (3) Kibin takes the amulet and puts it on, then. **
(4) Kaylin: "Eldon, are you sure you don't want to use it? The metal itself is not intrinsically bad, and you could put it to good use."
(1) GM: +6 Con.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "It's a matter of the source."
(1) GM: (enhancement)
(3) Kibin: Could I have it, then?
(4) Kaylin: "Will you hate me if I use money from that source?"
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "No."
(3) Kibin: (Yay, I have health now! :D)
(4) Kaylin: "One word to answer two questions. Efficient."
** (4) Kaylin smiles and inquires about a Tome of Clear Thought **
(1) GM: Jason: I'm curious... how's it different from when we take the loot off of, say, someone who was trying to hurt others?
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Yes, we have a few in stock. Which variety are you after? With all the money you seem to be flashing around I imagine you want the strongest available.
(4) Kaylin: "It's like you read my mind.
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: No, I respect other's privacy in that regard.
** (3) Kibin thinks, "That's good..." **
(4) Kaylin: "I'm only teasing. Your logic is quite correct."
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "They didn't benefit."
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Ah, well, I'll go fetch it, then.
(4) Kaylin: Excellent.
(1) GM: The shoppekeeper rummages around under the counter, and pulls out a heavy tome.
** (4) Kaylin purrs a bit... **
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: That will be 137,500 gp.
(4) Kaylin: "Will a tenth of that number in platinum do?"
** (3) Kibin didn't have enough money for one of those books. Meh. **
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Yes, yes it will. 13,750 platinum pieces are quite satisfactory.
** (4) Kaylin pays up **
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Enjoy your purchase. Always nice to bring a little more intelligence into the multiverse.
(1) GM: Jason: But at the same time, we've stopped a war that threatened .... how many planes did you say that place led to?
(4) Kaylin: "Well spoken. I will enjoy. Thank you again.."
(3) Kibin: Eleven times eleven times eleven times eleven.
** (4) Kaylin grabs the book and resumes talking to Eldon **
(3) Kibin: It was about 14,000, I believe.
(4) Kaylin: "It seems to me the only difference here is that we were presumably able to bring about benefit to everyone through our actions, rather than simply a single group."
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "And I would accept payment from good people."
(3) Kibin: Can I at least use that money to buy one of those books for myself?
(1) GM: Jason: A great many. An evil dragon might, on a good day, threaten a kingdom. Maybe two.
(4) Kaylin: "Well, if you feel morally obliged not to use that money, that's your decision."
** (3) Kibin said that to Eldon. **
(1) GM: Jason: The Gnomes probably won't benefit as much as the spellcasters elsewhere; the gnomish things seem to work basically everywhere, while Magic's Works seem to require charging away from home.
(1) GM: Jason: And the gnomes weren't under much of an immenent threat of invasion.... hmm..... wouldn't the backup plan have gone into effect by now?
(3) Kibin: Backup plan?
(1) GM: Jason: Don't you remember mentioning to that winged lady that we were going to try a relatively peaceful route, but that if it didn't work, they'd use the various tidbits we've run across to invade?
(3) Kibin: Oh.
(1) GM: Jason: And it's been.... how long was I wandering in that darkness, anyway?
(3) Kibin: A few months?
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (You'd think we would of heard something while we were there.)
(3) Kibin: (Sploosh sploosh sploosh. :P)
(1) GM: (Yeah... how much XP do you think the guys manning the pool gained over those two months?)
(4) Kaylin: (... whoops.)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Wouldn't they just end up in the maze again?)
(1) GM: (After a while. You actually rolled minimum return time, and they would be coming in after you.)
** (3) Kibin waits for Eldon's answer about using his money to buy one of those books for himself. **
(1) GM: Jason: Well, there's still the metal to dispose of... perhaps a temple somewhere?
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "The money is not mine to divide up."
(1) GM: (I've got metagame reasons for needing something done with it that benefits Eldon meaningfully)
(3) Kibin: Temple seems good...
(4) Kaylin: "Would your king object to giving the money to the charities of your kingdom?"
(3) Kibin: (Did we age any during those few months we were out of it?)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "I do not believe so. My own objection is that I did not do what I did for those gnomes and refuse to accept any such payment. Personal, in other words."
(1) GM: (Hard to say, how much does someone noticeably change in two months?)
(4) Kaylin: (Hair grows an inch or so, which is pretty noticeable in someone you're familiar with)
(1) GM: Jason: So using it to help some of their victims, or to guard a kingdom against later invasion if they ever change their minds....
(1) GM: (no, no aging)
(3) Kibin: Yes, there's still the matter of a few of the victims of that ghost... that we've neglected for quite a while.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "Charity sounds good."
(3) Kibin: So back to material plane?
(4) Kaylin: Absolutely. I'll need somewhere quiet to read.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "Should we not inform our allies of the possibility of a peace treaty?"
(3) Kibin: How?
(4) Kaylin: A simple Sending spell should suffice.
(3) Kibin: Yes. But who to contact?
(3) Kibin: That one angel is dead now...
(3) Kibin: (Hello? O.o)
(1) GM: Server online.
(4) Kaylin: (I'm trying to remember who all we've contacted)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (I dunno.)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (The archmage?)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Pokedy?)
(1) GM: (Hah! I know the counter for fingers into eyes!)
** (3) Kibin lays down on the ground while everyone is discussing options. **
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Stoooges!)
(1) GM: Jason: Well, the Archmage seems to know everyone; perhaps we could contact him, and he could relay messages to whoever needs to hear them.
(3) Kibin: Sounds good. Then we could finnally go back to the material world.
(4) Kaylin: That's true, and it seems we're all anxious to spend some time on the Material plane.
(4) Kaylin: How does the message, "Have made peace with gnomes, might consider a trade delegation and some monarch sent visiting" sound?
(3) Kibin: What monarch?
(4) Kaylin: Any monarch. They're all essentially similar.
(4) Kaylin: They would appear more 'official' than 'soldiers of fortune', as the gnomes put it.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "Perhaps 'Gnomes willing to make peace. Send trade delegation. Acid trap under portal.'"
(4) Kaylin: Oh right, wouldn't want to forget that detail.
(3) Kibin: Yup. Wouldn't want anyone else to go splat.
(1) GM: Jason: Great, so they send a few Silver dragons... tell me, Kibin, how hot was that stuff?
(3) Kibin: And not just acid trap, HOT acid trap. Otherwise I could have went in it.
(4) Kaylin: We should add 'Spread the word around, please' to the end of that message.
(3) Kibin: Uh, hot enough that I don't want to touch it again?
(3) Kibin: Why can't they just make a spell that allows for continous two-way conversation over long distances, anyway...
(4) Kaylin: It would take a large amount of effort to cast.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, it can be done; the more robust version of scrying and a simple cantrip.
(4) Kaylin: Sending suffices for our purposes.
(1) GM: Jason: The catch is that the target pretty much has to be a willing participant; Sending doesn't require the target be ready.
(3) Kibin: Then why don't more people do that? A sending or something to ask to start the conversation...
(1) GM: Jason: Beacuse occasionally it might be followed up with a Demand, and before it hits, you can't tell if it's a scrying that you're readying to accept willingly, or a Suggestion to do something you wouldn't like....
(3) Kibin: Ah.
(3) Kibin: Why not create a spell that combines sending with two way conversation?
(1) GM: Jason: Sending is two-way; it's just rather short.
(3) Kibin: A two way conversation that can last minutes or more.
(4) Kaylin: While this discussion is very interesting and I shall definitely consider the idea next time I feel like conducting original research, this is not helping us to our goal of preventing an accidental war.
(1) GM: Jason: Perhaps a warning that the army that didn't come back will be coming back eventually?
(3) Kibin: Eldon's message should work.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "And then Jasons' message, to round things off."
(1) GM: Jason: Without real knoweledge that the fight's over?
(1) GM: Jason: I can just imagine a hundred avenging angels, bent on stopping the evil at it's source, waking up and going through the now-open trade portal, and laying waste to the place... imagine what the reaction would be....
(3) Kibin: I imagine a lot more fighting.
(1) GM: Jason: So what shall you say, Kaylin?
(3) Kibin: There's always that demiplane with the doorbell so that we could talk to him in person.
(3) Kibin: And say stuff longer than 25 words.
(4) Kaylin: "Gnomes willing make peace. Send trade delegation, possible hot acid trap under portal. Relay message to others. Allies will return unharmed eventually in maze."
(3) Kibin: Or... that's good.
(3) Kibin: Would it be that hard to just make a 50 word sending spell?
(4) Kaylin: As we have seen several times, 25 suffices quite nicely.
(3) Kibin: Would be quicker if you could just send 50 words instead of 25...
(4) Kaylin: Anyways. Everyone happy with that message?
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "Yes."
** (3) Kibin nods. **
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Sending ( level 5, "Sends short message anywhere, instantly." )
(3) Kibin: What about the allies that died in the maze?
whispering to Kaylin, You are alive? Will do. Pink petunias paint plentiful pretty pictures. Always love filling these things out. So much nonsense to write in for you.
(4) Kaylin: Well. He's certainly alive and well.
(3) Kibin: Hmmm?
(4) Kaylin: Oh, his return message was rather amusing. Back to the material plane?
(3) Kibin: Sure.
** (3) Kibin stands back up. **
(1) GM: Jason: Great....
(1) GM: Shadow Conjouration, Level 4: Mimics conjuration below 4th level, but only 20% real
(1) GM: Jason summons up, and posseses, a Celestial Monkey.
(1) GM: Then has it hold Kaylin's hand.
(4) Kaylin: Everyone ready?
(3) Kibin: Why do you always summon a monkey?
** (3) Kibin prepares for the teleport as well. **
** (5) Eldon Quickfoot gets ready. **
(1) GM: Monkey: Well, this verson can talk, as it's technically a magical beast, it's got hands, and it's not particularly threatening.
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Plane Shift ( level 7, "Up to eight subjects travel to another plane." )
(4) Kaylin: (whoosh, glowy lights, Mateiral Plane)
(3) Kibin: Ah. Unless you eat a few bananas. Then you have the banana peels.
(1) GM: After arriving.....[2d100] -> [11,76] = (87)
(1) GM: Targetting where?
(1) GM: [3d100] -> [32,78,4] = (114)
(4) Kaylin: (Outisde the city where we picked up eldon)
(1) GM: And you arrive [87+114] -> 201
(1) GM: A few miles off course.
(1) GM: in... [1d6] -> [5] = (5)
(1) GM: a bunch of hills.
(4) Kaylin: (If we can see the city I'm not going to bother teleporting you all)
(1) GM: They're kinda grassy, and you can't see the city from where you stand.
(1) GM: For that matter, it's hard to tell what direction the thing is in.
whispering to GM, [1d4] -> [3] = (3)
(4) Kaylin: Ah, back in the Prime. Ready to teleport?
(1) GM: Jason: Yep. You?
(3) Kibin: Or I could fly up into the air and see what direction the city is in.,
(4) Kaylin: That's assuming we're nearby.
(3) Kibin: I could go see...
** (3) Kibin flies up into the air and attempts to spot the city. **
(4) Kaylin: ... I'm tempted to teleport away...
(1) GM: Yeah, you can't see it from here. 200+ miles, have a .... what, [528*200] -> 105600
(1) GM: -105,600 to the spot check DC. Even if a city is rather huge....
** (3) Kibin flies back down to the group, saying, "Yup, it's far away." **
(4) Kaylin: All right, let's teleport then.
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Teleport ( level 5, "Instantly transports you anywhere." )
** (3) Kibin teleports with Kaylin. Wheee, flashy lights! **
(4) Kaylin: [1d100] -> [36] = (36)
(1) GM: And on arrival, Jason abandon's the monkey, and sends it home.
** (5) Eldon Quickfoot ignores the flashy lights. **
(1) GM: Targetting what spot?
(4) Kaylin: (if there's a park or something, there. Else, a bit outside the gates)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Maybe out of the way of traffic?)
(4) Kaylin: (That's why the park)
(1) GM: You find yourselves in a fairly pleasant park, with a carefully trimmed and manicured rose garden, and a small stream going absolutely straight through the middle. A few benches are nearby, and some people look askance at your sudden appearence. And a little perterbed by Jason's, after he exits the monkey.
** (3) Kibin waves all friendly like to the people nearby! **
(3) Kibin: (That should be a question mark. Not !.)
(1) GM: Seeing no immediate threat, a few coples go back to their strolling.
(4) Kaylin: And here we are.
(4) Kaylin: What ifrst? Shopping or charity?
(3) Kibin: (*wonders if you can use a clone to create a body for a ghost to reside in*)
(4) Kaylin: Well. I'll be at the magic shop if you need me, quite possibly reading a book.
(3) Kibin: Charity first, as I already went shopping.
(4) Kaylin: Where should we meet?
(1) GM: Jason: Here's good, I suppose.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "That works."
(3) Kibin: When?
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, I imagine whenever we're done. I can wait here.
(4) Kaylin: Today? If something goes longer than expected we're all capable of finding an inn, and we can meet up tomorrow.
** (4) Kaylin heads off to the magic shop **
(3) Kibin: Eldon can give the money to the king, the rest of us has nothing to do.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (I thought we were going to give it to charity?)
(3) Kibin: Or charity, or whatever.
(1) GM: How you go about it is your call.
(1) GM: You know of a few temples, some homeless shelters, food banks.....
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eldon will spread it around the charities. I need to go do something for a bit.)
(1) GM: Soup kitchens, et cetera; most get some kind of subsidy from he king.
(1) GM: First though... two spot checks?
(3) Kibin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [2,18] = (20)
(3) Kibin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [2,18] = (20)
(3) Kibin: (Wow those sucked. :P)
(1) GM: From Eldon; party seems to have split up a might.
(3) Kibin: (Oh. Okay.)
** (3) Kibin wanders around the city, then, finding something to do. **
(1) GM: But he's already gone. Well, can handle that when he gets back....
(1) GM: There's a couple of taverns about, a few messageboards; many have notices about rewards for anyone who can manage to undo that blasted curse.
(4) Kaylin: (to shopkeeper) May I use your crafting portal?
(1) GM: The mergers thing, primarily, although a few missing person's posters and such.
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Standard fee, 100 gp.
** (4) Kaylin coughs up and goes into the portal to Read the Tome of Clear Thought **
(1) GM: Do you happen to have something that obliviates the need for food?
** (3) Kibin hmmmms, and sees if he can go find the missing persons somewhere in the city to pass the time. **
(4) Kaylin: (last time I believe there were vending machines in there, though I might be hallucinating)
(1) GM: Yeah, but they charge.
(4) Kaylin: (how much?)
(1) GM: Trail ration rates (after all, they have to survive millenia between restock visits...) - nothing you can't easily afford.
(1) GM: Kibin - Gather Information check?
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Spot: [1d20] -> [12] = (12)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Spot: [1d20] -> [7] = (7)
(4) Kaylin: (so that's... 3 gp total?)
(3) Kibin: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+1] -> [11,1] = (12)
(1) GM: Pretty much.
whispering to Kibin, You don't get any solid leads, although you do hear a few rumors about some wonderful furniture a few nobles picked up a few months ago; no details, though, like "which nobles"
(3) Kibin (whispering): Can I investigate which nobles? After all, I have a lot of time.
whispering to Kibin, Each Gather information check takes a lot of time.... which reminds me; the one you tried earlier took you [1d4+1] -> [3,1] = (4) hours...
(3) Kibin (whispering): Yeah, but I have what, the whole day?
whispering to Kibin, Which is about 12 hours or so.... 8 left, assuming everyone went shopping in the morning.
(3) Kibin (whispering): Yeah, 12 hours. So... I go find WHAT nobles got that "wonderful furniture"
(3) Kibin: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+1] -> [5,1] = (6)
whispering to Kibin, You find lots of nobles with gold-trimmed velvet. Taking you [1d4+1] -> [4,1] = (5) hours.
(3) Kibin: Gather Information Skill Check: [1d20+1] -> [14,1] = (15)
(3) Kibin (whispering): Again, then? :P
whispering to Kibin, After another [1d4+1] -> [2,1] = (3) asking around; you find a noble with the flesh-toned furniture you remember.....
whispering to Kibin, But it's getting dark by the time you find out where the minor noble lives....
(1) GM: So, anyone other than Kibin and Eldon spending lots of time doing somehting specific?
(3) Kibin (whispering): Is there a way I can inform someone about the flesh-toned furniture, and have them find the people?
whispering to Kibin, Knoweledge(Local)?
(4) Kaylin: (Sitting still and reading)
(3) Kibin: Knowledge: Local Skill Check: [1d20+5] -> [11,5] = (16)
(1) GM: (in a hyperbolic time chamber. That takes about a minute, max, once you find the place, and you know where it is.)
whispering to Kibin, You do know of a sergant in the guard that might be persuaded to follow up on such a crazy trail.
(3) Kibin (whispering): I go attempt to inform him, then.
whispering to Kibin, The guy looks a little bit on the crazy side; but he also looks like he knows his job. There's no resistance to you walking in and seeing him.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Um...Is there a reason the train of dialogue is sitting on the side-track of stopping?)
(1) GM: Lots of whispering, as the party split up. Now that you're back, though, make three spot checks.
(3) Kibin: (Shhhh, tying up a loose end.)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Spot: [1d20] -> [10] = (10)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Two up there.)
whispering to Kibin, Sergant: You're crazy, you know? And yet..... worth looking into.
(3) Kibin (whispering): Me: I can tell you one of the nobles with one of those people.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, You notice that an old man seems to be following you around on your work, listening in, and thinking about something....
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Oh, and what are your favorite two stats for Eldon?
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Prefferably in order.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot (whispering): Intelligence and Dexterity.
whispering to Kibin, Sergant: Well, after hearing your description of what it was like at the other place... can't bother the nobles without good reason... still, I can send someone off to ask at the other place... Cliffside? And follow up if that pans out.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, At the end of the day, your mind seems considerably clearer, and you move a little more readily.
(3) Kibin (whispering): Kibin nods, and thanks the Sergant for his time.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot (whispering): Cool, thanks. How much?
(3) Kibin (whispering): Kibin also thanks the sergant for listening to him.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, +5 Inherent to Intelligence, +1 to Dex.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Also Inherent.
whispering to Kibin, It's my job to follow up on all leads... although most in the Force would call us both crackpots; you for suggesting it, me for listening..... but hey, they already call me a crackpot, so....
(3) Kibin (whispering): Kibin leaves, then, and goes back to the group.
(1) GM: Late that evening, Kibin returns to the park, shortly after dark.
** (3) Kibin comes back to the park a little after dark, seemingly pleased with himself. **
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Kibin is a poet and doesn't know it; his feet show it: The're long fellows!)
(3) Kibin: (Huh?)
(1) GM: Park - Dark.
(3) Kibin: (Oh. Ooops.)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Longfellow was a poet.)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Never read any of his stuff, though. Got that one from my dad.)
** (3) Kibin loiters around the park until everyone is there. **
(3) Kibin: (*pokes the people.*)
(1) GM: Jason: Well, now that that's done.... how did your day go?
** (5) Eldon Quickfoot arrives, barring any GM intervention. **
(1) GM: The park is quite empty.
(1) GM: Other than the people you're giving money to, nobody meaningful stops to talk to you.
(3) Kibin: Good. Apparently there were a few 'pillows' that weren't discovered.
(4) Kaylin: (About how long does it take to get the reading done in the portal?)
(1) GM: Jason: Sometimes, I think I make peopel nervous.....
(3) Kibin: (About 10 seconds?)
(1) GM: (six days drops to six rounds - 36 seconds.)
(4) Kaylin: (Right. That was quick ;)
(3) Kibin: (Okay, 36 seconds. My bad.)
(3) Kibin: (Kaylin is a master of speedreading, apparently.)
(4) Kaylin: How much would it cost to upgrade this amulet of health? (shopkeeper)
(1) GM: Shoppkeeper: What level's it at? Apprentice, Wizard, or Archmage? Anything else on there?
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "Well, most people get a little nervous around walking dead people."
(4) Kaylin: Currently it's middle-level. Nothing else on it.
(1) GM: Jason: Walking? I've hardly moved all day.....
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "The most common examples are zombies, skeletons and vampires, after all."
(1) GM: [36-16] -> 20,000 gp
(3) Kibin: People get nervous around dead people too.
(1) GM: Shoppekeeper: Ah, about 20,000 gold crowns, then.
** (4) Kaylin gives the shopkeeper 2000 platinum **
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "Yeah, dead bodies are a reminder of mortality."
(1) GM: The shoppekeeper takes it into the crafting portal, and comes out two minutes later with your new and improved amulet, then takes the money and gives you the amulet.
(1) GM: Jason: What body? Mine's buried under about a mile of glass.
(3) Kibin: Dead soul ghosty thingie, then.
(4) Kaylin: Thank you.
** (4) Kaylin goes to the park **
(1) GM: Jason: Well, what's left of it, anyway.....
(1) GM: And of course, Kaylin's there for the entire conversation, as she finished her shopping in under ten minutes.....
(3) Kibin: (Did you know that there's a spell that CAN ressurect Jason?)
(3) Kibin: (Doesn't need a level 200 cleric either.)
(3) Kibin: (In fact, Kaylin can do it.)
(3) Kibin: (All it needs is a one inch cube of non-decayed flesh from the target, though...)
(4) Kaylin: (sounds like the job of a Wish to me)
(3) Kibin: (Yeah, Wish then Clone could work.)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Wish the flesh back to non-decayed, then true resurection.)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Or is that resurection via a wish?)
(1) GM: Doesn't quite work; you see, there's a Time Limit on even True Ressurection.
(3) Kibin: (Not on clone.)
(1) GM: Or Clone with Eschew Materials (an inch of flesh doesn't have a price tag attached......)
(3) Kibin: (Okay, clone with eschew materials would be cheating. x.x)
(3) Kibin: (Anyway, back to the game. Whooo.)
(1) GM: (Look up Demand and Simulcrula, and see what Eschew Materials does to those. Still doesn't get rid of the expensive parts, though....)
(3) Kibin: So we stopped the gnome army, and have nothing to do now. Now what?
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, we might look into that cleric that rebuked me.....
(3) Kibin: (So you could get a likeness or picture of the target, a possession or garment of the target, AND a lock of hair of the target for scrying if you had Eschew Materials?)
(3) Kibin: Isn't it called turning?
(1) GM: Jason: That depends on who's doing it.
(3) Kibin: And rebuking is different because...
(1) GM: Jason: Umm.... I've experienced both. Turning is frightening, Rebuking is..... well..... kinda makes an undead want to obey. There's good in Turning, Evil in rebuking.
(3) Kibin: Oh.
(3) Kibin: Well... uh... that's good I suppose.
(3) Kibin: Or evil.
(3) Kibin: Or good to look into.
(1) GM: Jason: Yeah. It's part of the reason I was so puzzled when Elorin wasn't doing anything earlier when Jose rebuked me.
** (3) Kibin looks over to Kaylin, the teleporty person. **
(4) Kaylin: Hmm?
(3) Kibin: Maybe we could teleport over there and investigate more?
(3) Kibin: (*hugs his 149 glorious HP. Yay!*)
(4) Kaylin: So where do you propose to find this cleric?
(3) Kibin: Oh, I don't know. Maybe the place he was in last time?
(1) GM: (Thinks about a Maximized Disintigrate at caster level 20)
(4) Kaylin: (mmm, 240 damage....)
(3) Kibin: (Save or die, so?)
(1) GM: Yeah, you got a pretty good Fort save, now.
(3) Kibin: (Hey! :(
(3) Kibin: (Only a 17 now.
(3) Kibin: Seems like a reasonable place to look, after all..
(4) Kaylin: As you wish.
(1) GM: Jason calls over his familiar, posesses the falcon, and lands on Kaylin's shoulder.
(4) Kaylin: (Ijsyk OOC I've forgotten what cleric we're talking about)
(3) Kibin: (Heh. I think your intelligence score needs a bit of work.)
(1) GM: Not surprising; it was two months ago, and you as the player weren't there.
(3) Kibin: (Or... yeah, listen to the GM.)
(3) Kibin: Or... we could rest here, THEN go?
(4) Kaylin: Well, I'm well rested from the time spent reading.
(3) Kibin: Yes, but it's getting dark outside.
(3) Kibin: Or is dark outside.
(1) GM: (you were npc'd at the time; Jose was the cleric, unnamed town, Shanhara was the diety; your knoweledge(Religion) roll informed you that Shanhara isn't on the standard list of dieties to be worshipped. Lots of odd stuff in the sermon. Log of 2006-04-08; April 8th, 2006)
(4) Kaylin: (sermon? :P)
** (3) Kibin hmmms. "Maybe he's an evil cleric using this 'deity' to get sacrifices for himself or something." **
(3) Kibin: Human sacrifices.
(1) GM: (Where Jose slipped a mind control spell in, that was keeping the war over......)
(3) Kibin: Completely willing sacrifices...
(4) Kaylin: As long as they're willing...
(4) Kaylin: anyways, rest and then find this cleric?
(3) Kibin: They think it's so that they get to enjoy the afterlife with their friends and family.
(3) Kibin: While at the same time, he's getting money from the town... manpower to do pretty much whatever he wants...
(3) Kibin: And yes, waiting till morning is good.
(3) Kibin (whispering): How close was I, anyway?
whispering to Kibin, The way things are going, you'll find out.
(3) Kibin (whispering): Yay!
** (3) Kibin lays down in the grass under the stars at the park, then. **
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "Er, they probably have vagrancy laws."
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "An inn is probably a good idea.'
(3) Kibin: Knowledge: Local Skill Check: [1d20+5] -> [4,5] = (9)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Would Eldon know if they have vagrancy laws?)
(4) Kaylin: (probably? Aren't you a noble in the court? :P)
whispering to Kibin, Nope, perfectly safe.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Yep, they do. However, there's a fair number of homeless shelters, and those caught are usually simply escorted to the nearest.
(3) Kibin: We all can go to an inn if you want.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "Better than a homeless shelter."
(1) GM: Jason hops out of his familiar: Oh, I think I'll just lay down in the cool earth.....
(3) Kibin: I could stay outside with Jason and guard the wagon and carriage.
(1) GM: Winddancer goes and finds a tree to roost in for the night.
(3) Kibin: (*pokes?*)
(1) GM: Jason: Yeah, that's probably a good idea; perhaps I'll join you - haven't spent too many spells today anyway.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (So we all troop off to the inn?)
(1) GM: Jason: And I won't get any more fatigued than I already am....
(4) Kaylin: (I'm off to the inn)
** (3) Kibin stays at the park with the wagon and carriage, then, waking up if anything small or larger goes within 60 feet. **
(1) GM: Inn takes standard rates; which would you prefer; a spot on the floor near the hearth, a blanket and a raised platform, a private room, or something extravagant?
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eldon would perfer something with a lock.)
(3) Kibin: (I don't need a lock, I have blindsense. : )
(4) Kaylin: I'd like a private room, please.
(1) GM: Jason: If you like, I think I've figured out how to manage something secure to shelter in.
(3) Kibin: No, I'll simply know if anyone goes near me. Most anyone, anyway.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "Private room, please."
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (If none in this in, try nearby comparable inn.)
(1) GM: Innkeeper: Great; two golds each, for the night. If you're worried about security, there's a bar you can slide into place.
** (5) Eldon Quickfoot pays. **
** (4) Kaylin pays **
(3) Kibin: (Yay, I saved 2 whole gold!)
(1) GM: The inkeeper calls a young girl, and has her show you to your rooms.
(3) Kibin (whispering): This isn't the city with the pillows, remember?
whispering to Kibin, (lots of semi-mideval inns would employ youngsters - apprenticeships, basically)
(3) Kibin (whispering): Oh, okay. Nevermind then.
** (3) Kibin starts sleeping till morning, then. **
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eldon will sleep with the door barred.)
(1) GM: The night passes uneventfully, and in the morning, Elorin gathers everyone together for a feast, although he seems slightly distracted for some reason.....
** (3) Kibin eats the delicious Hero's Feast. **
(1) GM: Even Winddancer eats, although Jason just kind of watches.
(1) GM: After the very fullfilling meal.....
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Is there probable cause for a Sense Motive?)
(1) GM: On who?
(3) Kibin: (Hello?)
(1) GM: Hello. Not much for me to do until the players decide to take a few actions.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Elorin.)
(1) GM: Not really.
(3) Kibin: (It's just because the player is away, that's all.)
(3) Kibin: So... now can we poof over to the cleric's city?
(1) GM: Jason: Sounds like a plan.
** (3) Kibin looks over to Kaylin then, the person with the teleports. **
(4) Kaylin: All business here taken care of?
(3) Kibin: I suppose so.
(1) GM: Jason: I was done shopping a while back.
(4) Kaylin: Then let's be off.
(1) GM: Jason hops into Winddancer, and lands on Kaylin's shoulder.
(4) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Greater Teleport ( level 7, "Teleports without error." )
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "I sometimes think we are all a little off."
(3) Kibin: (Bzzzt.)
(4) Kaylin: Eldon scores a point.
(4) Kaylin: (off to wherever that place was)
(1) GM: And you arrive in town. If anything, the place is even happier than before. Everyone's all smiles and cheer.
(3) Kibin: Eldon, I think you're the only person here not 'off', unless you don't consider spellcasting 'off'.
(1) GM: Nobody looks askance at your sudden appearence, they just nod and smile politely, and continue about their business.
** (3) Kibin grins back, to fit in. **
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "I was thinking more mentally."
** (5) Eldon Quickfoot is suspicious of this much cheerfullness on the mortal plane. **
(1) GM: Sense Motive?
(4) Kaylin: Oh, there's nothing to be suspicious about. Someone just put Happy Potion in their food.
(3) Kibin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [4,16] = (20)
(4) Kaylin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+2] -> [10,2] = (12)
(3) Kibin: ("Would you like some fries with that?")
(3) Kibin: (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
whispering to Kaylin, Kibin, Far as you know, they're just people being happy about the general state of affairs.
(1) GM: Eldon - Sense Motive?
(3) Kibin: (Eldon is distracted. I can sense it.)
(1) GM: Ah, how very motivational of you.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: ](Sorry.)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+19] -> [1,19] = (20)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Owch.)
(3) Kibin: (Lol...)
(4) Kaylin: (*casts smite word play*)
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Far as you know, they're just people being happy about the general state of affairs.
(3) Kibin: (*is smited?*)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Five letter score!)
(3) Kibin: (Hey, I wonder if these people get a toy with their happy potion...)
(1) GM: The church bell rings, and most everyone stops what they're doing, and head off to the church.
(3) Kibin: So... shall we talk to him after the 'church' service?
(3) Kibin: Or we could, if you like breaking and entering, sneak around his church...
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "That did not work well the last time we tried it."
(3) Kibin: We tried it before?
(4) Kaylin: (pity Elorin can't use Discern Location so we can go to the cleric directly)
(4) Kaylin: (brb, really thirsty)
(1) GM: (he's not exactly hiding.....)
(3) Kibin: (Why can't he?)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "Breaking and entering? Yes."
(3) Kibin: When?
(3) Kibin: What happened?
(1) GM: Jason: So you don't remember the whole trial thing, and the mountain of copper?
(3) Kibin: Oh. That.
(3) Kibin: I meant for the cleric...
(3) Kibin: So what do you want to do now that we're here?
(1) GM: Jason: Go in and say "Hello"? I can do some protection for your minds, if it's enchantments you're worried about.
(3) Kibin: What, we just go in and say "Hello" right during his church service?
(4) Kaylin: Mmm, nothing like an angry mob to start the day off.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, I was mostly figuring finding him after..... should be accessable.
(3) Kibin: Ah, okay. Sounds good.
(3) Kibin: Now what to do before the church service is over...
(1) GM: Looking around, you notice most people basically just dropped whatever they were doing and walked to church. Fruit stands lie with all their fruit still in them, unattended, as do the cloth racks, tailor's shops, et cetera.
(3) Kibin: Hmmm... easy to just go into those stores and get some of their cash while they're away...
(1) GM: So, waiting around, trying a little theft, what?
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "No."
** (3) Kibin remains on the right side of the law, and waits. Flying around a little to pass the time. **
(4) Kaylin: We should see how many exits there are from the church, lest he try to escape.
(1) GM: After about an hour, the townsfolk walk out of the church, and pick up where they left off.
** (3) Kibin goes flying around the church, counting the number of exits, then. **
(1) GM: A few hundred people, or so, and about six doors in the church; two large, double doors, four smaller side entrences.
** (3) Kibin flies back to the group and lands, replying, "Two large double doors, and four smaller side entrances." **
(4) Kaylin: Shall we go talk to him now?
(3) Kibin: Why not?
(3) Kibin: Although, magical protection before we go in there would be nice.
(1) GM: Jason: Yeah, sure, just stay close....
(1) GM: Magic Circle Against Evil, 3rd: As protection spells, but 10-ft. radius and 10 min./level.
** (3) Kibin stays close to Jason. He asks Jason, "Can you go ethereal so he won't see you?" **
** (5) Eldon Quickfoot stays close. **
(1) GM: Jason: Not and keep you in the radius of effect, no.
(3) Kibin: Unless the circle prevents rebuking, that is.
(3) Kibin: Off to the cleric, then.
(1) GM: Jason: Not so much, however.....
(1) GM: Invisibility Sphere, Level 3: Makes everyone within 10 ft. invisible
(1) GM: Jason, and everyone within 10 feet of him, vanish from view of everyone without See Invisiblity, True Seeing, or the like.
(3) Kibin: Yay, now we can all be invisible while talking to the cleric!
(1) GM: Jason: Hmm? Oh, just step away, and step back in; it won't renew itself to you.
(3) Kibin: (*has 22 skill ranks in sarcasm*)
** (3) Kibin hmms, and does that. **
(3) Kibin: Ah. Okay.
(1) GM: And, when stepping away, the rest of the party vanishes from normal vision (although those still invisible can see each other)
(3) Kibin: Magic is weird.
(1) GM: Jason: Always. Shall we go?
(4) Kaylin: Magic is perfectly understandable.
** (3) Kibin looks over to the other party members, that are still invisible. **
(1) GM: Ah, yes, wonderful Blindsense.....
(1) GM: Can't see Jason that way, though.
** (5) Eldon Quickfoot moves with the party. **
(3) Kibin: (Nope. Ah well.)
(3) Kibin: (Still invisible? :P)
(1) GM: It's a pretty long duration set of spells. Anyone within 10 feet of Jason at the time of casting, who remains so, and doesn't attack anyone, stays invisible for the duration.
(1) GM: Unless something else interferes, of course.
** (3) Kibin walks over to the church, then, to talk to the cleric. Avoiding the other party members. **
** (3) Kibin assumes Jason is following. **
(1) GM: The large, wooden, intricately caved doors stand twelve feet tall, open. Empty pews face an alter covered by a white cloth, with a fifteen foot tall statue of a woman laying on the wall, as though she was relaxing on the floor. A simple wooden pulpit is off to the side of the alter. A door on the side of the hall stands closed.
** (3) Kibin walks over to the door on the side of the hall, and knocks. **
(3) Kibin: (Is everyone else staying invisible in the sphere?)
(1) GM: You hear a voice from inside, recognized as Jose: Welcome, come in.
(3) Kibin: (*pokes other people*)
(1) GM: As a default, for the moment, yes.
(3) Kibin: (*waits until everyone else chooses to remain invisible or be visible, then. So they don't suddenly appear in the middle of talking.*)
** (5) Eldon Quickfoot comes along as backup. **
(3) Kibin: (Invisible or not invisible? x.x)
** (4) Kaylin is invisible and happy about it **
(1) GM: Jose is an old man in grey robes, siting behind an oak desk, looking through some papers. He has a miniature of the statue on the wall, carved in silver, hanging around his neck. A shelf of books is behind him, and he has some green potted plant in the corner. There are two cushioned, inviting, chairs in the small room.
(3) Kibin: (I'll go ahead and go in, then...)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Visible.)
** (3) Kibin opens the door, and goes on in, then. He looks over to the shelf of books, trying to read the names of the books. **
** (5) Eldon Quickfoot looks bored and uninterested. Like a bodyguard. **
(1) GM: The titles aren't evident, although they are numbered. They look very old, and are bound in leather.
(3) Kibin: (What type of leather?)
(1) GM: Some dark brown leather. It's a big shelf, and it's full of books.
** (3) Kibin starts thinking of what to say, then. Hmmm... **
(1) GM: Jose: Ah, welcome back; I see you've returned. Ready to join in the happy lives of these townsfolk?
(3) Kibin: No, not quite yet. I quite enjoy my freedom.
(1) GM: Jose: I don't keep slaves. Attending the sermons is far from mandatory, well, for most, and you've already figured out what's mixed in there, so....
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive: [1d20+19] -> [5,19] = (24)
whispering to GM, [1d20+4] -> [5,4] = (9)
(3) Kibin: We have come to ask a few questions. For one, why is your "god" not known by people other than here?
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, He's not lying. An easy man to read.
(1) GM: Jose: She's young yet, as gods go. New to this plane.
(1) GM: Jose: And we don't normally operate as openly as here.
(3) Kibin: Interesting. And about your ritual for people to join the afterlife with family and friends? What exactly does it involve?
(1) GM: Jose: Oh, some prayer, some communioun, and a timed death at Her bosom.
(1) GM: Jose: None who die by violence can join Her.
(3) Kibin: Why?
(1) GM: Jose: She is very peaceful. Those who die fighting have committed a sin, and cannot repent of it before leaving this world; once one has passed on this mortal coil, their grace period has passed, and they may not repent.
(3) Kibin: How is this ritual different from, say, a sacrifice?
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive: [1d20+19] -> [14,19] = (33)
(1) GM: Jose: Whatever do you mean? We take no one who does not come willingly, to the point where we even lift the Sermon's effects, to be certain it is of their own free will.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, He's dodging the truth somewhat, but he's not lying.
(3) Kibin: Yes... but sacrifices can be willing.
** (5) Eldon Quickfoot looks skeptical in Kibins' direction. **
(3) Kibin: (I suppose sacrifices can be willing. :P)
(3) Kibin: (Oh, wait, wrong context..)
(1) GM: Jose: So what do you mean? The only ones who gain anything from the ritual are the ritualee and Shanhara. Shanhara gains another for her own forever, and the ritualee gains the eternal embrace of Shanhara. What could be better? I merely delay my own return so that others might know Her joy.
(3) Kibin: What do you mean delay your return?
(1) GM: Jose: I came from Her courts, specifically to end the war in this area. It is stopped, but much more work needs to be done before it will stay so without the constant Renewal of the Sermon.
(1) GM: Jose: A century or two, nothing more.
(1) GM: Jose: I can afford to be patient.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive: [1d20+19] -> [16,19] = (35)
(3) Kibin: How exactly do you live a century or two?
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, He knows himself to be from Shanhara's courts... whatever that means.
(1) GM: Jose: By Serving Shanhara willingly, faithfully, and well.
(3) Kibin: That grants you immortality how?
(1) GM: Jose: By avoiding sin, following Her teachngs, and maintaining the rituals, She lends me some of Her strength.
(1) GM: Jose: You seem rather... hostile. Are you all right? Have I done something to offend?
(3) Kibin: Well, for one, you didn't turn our ghost, you rebuked him instead.
(1) GM: Jose: He was merely awed by a brief glimpse of Shanhara's glory. It's harmless. Has he suffered any lasting effect? Turnings tend to destroy such.
** (3) Kibin wonders how much more this is going to last... **
(3) Kibin: No, it was not a turning, it was a rebuking as an evil cleric would do.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive: [1d20+19] -> [4,19] = (23)
(3) Kibin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [19,16] = (35)
(3) Kibin: (Heh. Just sense motives because sense motives are good.)
(1) GM: Jose: I hardly hurt him. He seems to be an agent of Eternal Peace, as much as any of his kind can be.
whispering to Kibin, Eldon Quickfoot, Deceptive, but avoiding anything that's false.
** (5) Eldon Quickfoot looks skeptical again. **
(1) GM: Jose: Seriously; an unclean thing walked... well, floated... into my office unannounced. Really, how should I have reacted?
(3) Kibin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [13,16] = (29)
(1) GM: Jose: At least this time around, I recognized him.
whispering to Kibin, Does indeed detest undead.
(3) Kibin: (And... uh... you know, being blunt tends not to do much to your NPCs. Hmmm.)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive: [1d20+19] -> [18,19] = (37)
(1) GM: Jose: But I see you have no real interest in peace..... such a pity, you would have made wonderful additions to Shanhara's courts, otherwise...
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Apparently, he can see Jason just fine at the moment.
(3) Kibin: No, we have interest in peace.
(3) Kibin: Just not in peace by forceful control of other people.
(3) Kibin: (Ah, the fine line of gathering information.)
(1) GM: Jose: I am stopping a war that would otherwise be in progress, costing many lives on both sides. Tell me, if you catch a murderor at his dreadful work, is it reasonable to forcibly stop him?
(3) Kibin: How long has it been since the war?
(1) GM: Jose: Oh, about two or three years, now, since the Intervention.
(1) GM: Jose quietly fingers a strand of beads on his wrist.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive: [1d20+19] -> [18,19] = (37)
(3) Kibin: (Uh, what do I know about the powers of the prayer beads?)
(3) Kibin: (That I know about.)
(3) Kibin: (Just prayer beads in general.)
(1) GM: (Yeah, you've watched Elorin use his every morning; it seems to add a little oomph to his spells. You've heard Kaylin discuss her findings after Analyzing others. They tend to have different abilities.)
(3) Kibin: (These abilities would be?)
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, He seems to be garnishing strength, in case things turn ugly. Doesn't plan on a first strike at the moment, though.
(1) GM: (Healing in various forms, mostly, of the ones Kaylin has specifically discussed)
(3) Kibin: (Okay, then, I'll keep in mind just the oomph then.)
** (5) Eldon Quickfoot looks wary. **
(3) Kibin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [11,16] = (27)
whispering to Kibin, He seems to be garnishing strength, in case things turn ugly. Doesn't plan on a first strike at the moment, though.
(3) Kibin: (To see what Eldon is wary about?)
whispering to Kibin, reffering to Jose.
** (3) Kibin thinks of what to say now. Hmmm.... **
(3) Kibin: Have you tried relaxing your control? Just enough so that they won't go to war?
(1) GM: Jose sighs: It's not that simple. It's not a variable effect. It either affects someone, or it doesn't. There is no in between.
(3) Kibin: Have you tried turning off control for a day or two, then?
(1) GM: Jose: Not since the last disaster. Most of those who would fight believe themselves to have just cause, on both sides. Anyone stopping their just cause is, of course, in the wrong. A sudden shift from being totally averse to a war to the original desire for it makes people aware they were forced to not go to war.
(3) Kibin: Knowledge: Local Skill Check: [1d20+5] -> [9,5] = (14)
(3) Kibin: (Just seeing if I can actually recall from anywhere a war here. :P)
(1) GM: Jose: In a generation or two, or three, once all who wanted the war have passed on, it may be relaxed, as their children would know nothing about it.
(3) Kibin: (If it's not knowledge history, that is.)
(4) Kaylin: Knowledge: Local Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [4,16] = (20)
** (4) Kaylin is continuing to stand invisibly with elven patience **
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "Will you ever actually be able to relax that control? Or will you have to enforce peace for eternity?"
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive: [1d20+19] -> [10,19] = (29)
(3) Kibin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [12,16] = (28)
whispering to Kibin, Kaylin, There was a conflict that could be deemed a war, but but it would be a little bit of a stretch to call it so. More an on-running border dispute that turned violent every few years.
(1) GM: Jose: Eventually, there will be no need of it.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Kibin, Again, he's being deceptive, but not lying. Stretching a truth.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "Eventually...When all free will is drained from the world?"
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive: [1d20+19] -> [14,19] = (33)
(3) Kibin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [12,16] = (28)
** (3) Kibin says quietly to himself, "And I thought I was being blunt..." **
(1) GM: Jose: No, just when all desire for war has been removed from these towns. A century, maybe two, and then all will have passed away.
(1) GM: Jose: At least these people aren't elves. That would require much more time.
(3) Kibin: What about when the border dispute picks back up again?
** (4) Kaylin rankles a bit **
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive: [1d20+19] -> [20,19] = (39)
(3) Kibin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [13,16] = (29)
whispering to Kibin, There's something about how he uses "passed away" that you can't quite put your finger on....
(3) Kibin (whispering): You would make a very good politician, I think.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, He's using "passed away" in a bit more of an inclusive sense than normal; as though there won't be any children to carry on.
(3) Kibin: Uh, what about when the border dispute picks back up again? Wouldn't that mean your so called war would pick back up?
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "By all...Do you mean all the people in this village?"
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive: [1d20+19] -> [13,19] = (32)
(3) Kibin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [13,16] = (29)
(1) GM: Jose: Nope. By that time, everyone will be used to working in peace, know it's advantages, be used to the borders as we currently have them set, and there will be no conflict.
(3) Kibin: (Man we're unlucky.)
(3) Kibin: (Three 13s in a row.)
(1) GM: (hey, 13's a decent roll in D&D - above average, even.)
(3) Kibin: (Yes. But 13.)
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, He's somehow referring to everyone as in "everyone who's left", so yes, but not in his own view of the world.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (A silly convention, having to do with the number of knots supposedly in a hangmans' noose and the number of stairs supposedly to the platform.)
whispering to Kibin, His "no conflict" feels a little too... broad, but he doesn't seem to be lying, exactly.
(3) Kibin: (Actually, it has to do with 10 fingers and 2 feet, I thought, along with the fear of the unknown.)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "Everyone who is left, then. Everyone who will be pacified?"
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Mine makes more sense.)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive: [1d20+19] -> [5,19] = (24)
(1) GM: (actually, the laws on a hangman's noose in many states specify between 12 and 14; it's actually a mechanical issue for breaking the neck and killing immediately, preventing a slow death by strangulation)
(3) Kibin: (Wouldn't snapping the neck kill slowly from lack of blood to the brain anyway?)
(1) GM: Jose: Everyone remaining after My task has been fullfilled will have no disre for war.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Five minutes, I think. But unconsciousness comes nearly immediatly, I think.)
(3) Kibin: And will follow your god, and thus everyone on the material plane will follow your god...
(1) GM: (Judging from historical accounts of reactions to nooses, neck-breaking is better. Better still are the cases where the rope breaks....)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "So your task is not to guide people to any sort of heaven, but to kill the undesirables."
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive: [1d20+19] -> [15,19] = (34)
(3) Kibin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [12,16] = (28)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (I'm sure the prisoner thought so.)
(3) Kibin: (Better yet is when you're small and don't die. :D)
(1) GM: Jose shakes his head: Only those who force my hand and try to stop my work are forcibly slain. All others live out their allotted span, or come to Shanhara on their own terms, or the terms of their parents who cannot or will not support them.
whispering to Eldon Quickfoot, Kibin, He's a patient fellow; he's perfectly content to kill everyone by outliving them, letting them die of old age.
(1) GM: Oh, spot checks?
(3) Kibin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [13,18] = (31)
(3) Kibin: (Yay a 31!)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Spot: [1d20] -> [15] = (15)
(3) Kibin: (Beat that. :P)
whispering to Kibin, You realize you haven't seen anyone in town younger than about five.....
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "So...You kill children?"
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Sense Motive: [1d20+19] -> [18,19] = (37)
** (3) Kibin blinks, thinking of something... **
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (BRB - Can you pause a few minutes?)
(3) Kibin: Sense Motive Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [12,16] = (28)
(3) Kibin: (Yay, enough time for popcorn!
(1) GM: Jose: If you call sending them off to Shanhara's courts by so curde a term, even then, only when their parents bring them to me to give to Shanhara.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Back.)
(1) GM: Jose: A handful are raised and trained here, to continue Her Task.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: "So you force parents to sacrifice thier children. Prepare to die."
(1) GM: Roll vs. Initiative.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Sorry, Eldon just blew his top.)
(3) Kibin: (Back... and... crud.)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Init: [1d20+6] -> [7,6] = (13)
(3) Kibin: Dex check: [1d20+3] -> [12,3] = (15)
(1) GM: [1d20+3] -> [9,3] = (12)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+5] -> [3,5] = (8)
(1) GM: Kaylin? Initiative?
(4) Kaylin: Dex check: [1d20+2] -> [13,2] = (15)
(4) Kaylin: (eldon's not alone. I'm with him on this one..)
(1) GM: Roll off between Kaylin and Kibin.
(3) Kibin: Dex check: [1d20+3] -> [13,3] = (16)
(3) Kibin: (I'm... not completely with him.)
(4) Kaylin: Dex check: [1d20+2] -> [17,2] = (19)
(1) GM: Kaylin, Kibin, Eldon, Jose, Jason
(1) GM: Drat; dinner. Smells good, though.
(4) Kaylin: (I'm in his office, right?)
(3) Kibin: (NOOOOOOO! You just HAD to choose the most dramatic moment, didn't you! :(
(1) GM: Yep. Everyone is.
(4) Kaylin: (Cliffhanger moment!)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Don't anybody let go of the raccoon!)
(3) Kibin: (Racoon? What racoon?)
(4) Kaylin: (I'm going to take advantage of this opportunity to switch computers. Managed to get the one with the busted PSU back happy)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Pet Detective 2)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yaay for you.)
(4) Kaylin: Teleport to home...
(4) Kaylin (exit): 17:41
(9) Kelensiya (enter): 17:41
(3) Kibin: (Yay for the ability to deal non-lethal damage.)
(9) Kaylin: (non-lethal? I was just going to hit him with a Stone to Flesh)
(3) Kibin: (Yeah, that'll fix him up for good. x.x)
(3) Kibin: (Hehe. Although a stone to flesh might be nice if we could get a mold of him... ;)
(3) Kibin: (Flesh to stone. FLESH TO STONE!)
(9) Kaylin: (we could break fingers off or something and turn him back)
(3) Kibin: (Nah, then we might have to put it back. And he might have still spell."
(9) Kaylin: (sounds to me like a pretty good interrogation method)
(9) Kaylin: (we'll deprive you of one limb each day you don't tell us the truth)
(3) Kibin: (You could use baleful polymorph to turn him into a small humanoid of less than 1 HD.)
(3) Kibin: (According to the new polymorph, he retains his language and memories until 24 hours later.)
(9) Kaylin: (ooh, I should have prepared one.)
(9) Kaylin: (I love having all these nice new spell slots)
(3) Kibin: (Do you have polymorph other object prepared?)
(3) Kibin: (That can replicate baleful polymorph... and stone to flesh, and flesh to stone, and regular polymorph...)
(3) Kibin: (At a higher save DC too!)
(9) Kaylin: (I went with a pretty hefty combat loadout today)
(9) Kaylin: (my save DCs are already pretty high :P)
(9) Kaylin: (Flesh to Stone is a DC 28 Fort)
(3) Kibin: (It could be HIGHER. Ooo.)
(3) Kibin: (What about a DC 30 fortitude save?)
(9) Kaylin: (if he has saves that good I'm worried)
(9) Kaylin: (well, not really.)
(3) Kibin: (And change your color! Silver is my color.)
(9) Kaylin: (but it means my choices of not killing him or something similar are reduced *fake sniff*)
(3) Kibin: (Or grey.)
(9) Kaylin: (better?)
(3) Kibin: (Uh, too pinkish.)
(9) Kaylin: (Words of praise *grin* I'm keeping it)
(3) Kibin: (Waaaaaaaaay too pinkish.)
(3) Kibin: (Hmmm.)
(3) Kibin: (A little darker... but too dark I think.)
(3) Kibin: (Hmmm.)
(3) Kibin: (Okay, that's good I think.)
(3) Kibin: (A little more readable, don't you think?)
(3) Kibin: (GM should be back soon.)
(3) Kibin: (Very very soon... and I like my previous color better. Meh.)
(3) Kibin: (Yay color.)
(1) GM: Back.
(3) Kibin: (Yay!)
(3) Kibin: (*pokes Kaylin*)
(9) Kaylin: (yep)
(3) Kibin: (*mehs, and looks at the pretty map of minas tirith on the wall.*)
(9) Kaylin: (so we're back to the battle?)
(3) Kibin: (Yup. Not eldon's turn yet for a while.)
(9) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Flesh to Stone ( level 6, "Petrifies a creature of flesh." )
(9) Kaylin: (targeting the child-slayer)
(3) Kibin: (*is going to laugh if he fails the save...*)
(1) GM: [1d20+19] -> [18,19] = (37)
(3) Kibin: (Hmmm.)
(9) Kaylin: (wow.)
(3) Kibin: (Well...)
(3) Kibin: (I would still have laughed if he fails the save. Meh.)
(1) GM: The cleric looks sad.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(3) Kibin: (How far away is the cleric?)
(1) GM: Across a desk. About five feet. The thing looks rather solid.
(3) Kibin: (Can I step to the side of him?)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Um, I was at supper, and now I gotta go, cause a little twerp wants the computer. Bye for now; NPC Eldon.)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot has sent you a tree node...
(1) GM: Just when we were getting to a simpler plot.....
(1) GM: Ah well, more to come.
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: (Sorry.)
(5) Eldon Quickfoot: Disconnecting from server...
(5) Eldon Quickfoot (exit): 18:08
(3) Kibin: (Yeah. Besides, we still here! Yay! :)
(3) Kibin: (Anyway, can I 5 foot step beside of him so it's easier toflank him and attack?)
(1) GM: The desk covers most the room, lenghwise, but is only about waist high for a standing human. As a small critter, you could go over it without much trouble.
(1) GM: The other way to go would be past the very full bookcase.
** (3) Kibin steps to the side of him, then, and unleashes a full attack of non-lethal attacks, using the back of his hand and headbutts. **
(1) GM: Make a reflex save. Trap sense applies.
(1) GM: When you step to get into easy reach.
(1) GM: Before the full attack.
(3) Kibin: [1d20+27] -> [15,27] = (42)
(3) Kibin: (Heh. Was that enough?)
(1) GM: The bookcase swings out, violently, to hit you... but you jump back in time. Spoils the 5-foot step, though.
** (3) Kibin just full attacks him from where he is, then, if he can. **
(1) GM: Not quite in reach. You could try going over the desk.... but at this point, would take a move action.
** (3) Kibin just releases a might-be-paralyzing breath at him, then, which has a very very very slim chance of working, then moves back to the rear of the protection from evil field. **
(3) Kibin: (Oh, wait, the DC is improved now that I have this amulet... hmmm...)
(1) GM: Fort save: [1d20+19] -> [3,19] = (22)
(3) Kibin: (And, uh, I think he actually fails that. O.o)
(9) Kaylin: (nice)
(3) Kibin: (Hmmm.)
(1) GM: Really? You got the DC over 22? Huh. Wonderful ring, though.
(3) Kibin: (It's 23 technically, if you count 19 constitution as +4.5 modifier. x.x)
(1) GM: No, doesn't work out. Rounds down at all points. 10 + 1/2 HD + Con mod = 22 - which he made, exactly.
(3) Kibin: (Meh, I know.)
(3) Kibin: (But I have 19 hitdie, and 19 constitution...)
(1) GM: Eldon, having watched the bookcase in action, tries for the desk....
(3) Kibin: (*kicks D&D math.*)
(3) Kibin: (...why didn't I just try the ray of frost?)
(1) GM: And... [1d20+14] -> [11,14] = (25)
(1) GM: Makes his reflex save, as the desk jumps up and down, impacting the cieling briefly.
(1) GM: He then draws his bow and fires a shot..... [1d20+26] -> [12,26] = (38) for [3d6] -> [5,6,5] = (16)
(3) Kibin: Oookay...
(3) Kibin: (At who? Me?)
(1) GM: Eldon firing, at the Cleric.
(3) Kibin: (Oh.)
(3) Kibin: (Yay pointy damage.)
(1) GM: And it hits, sinking into the Cleric's flesh.
(3) Kibin: (That does precise damage, though.)
(3) Kibin: (Wait, it's a BOW. Nevermind.)
(3) Kibin: (It would work if he had a crossbow, though, Which he doesn't.)
(1) GM: It doesn't sink in far, however.
(1) GM: And it's Jose's turn......
(3) Kibin: (Since a crossbow is a light or one handed piercing weapon... right?)
(9) Kaylin: (I forget, where does Jason come into the initiative order?)
(1) GM: Last.
(3) Kibin: (Last. I think.)
(3) Kibin: (Yay, disintergration time. I think.)
(1) GM: Jose mubles something very short, and grows, to the point where he's crouching slightly. Then he casts another spell......
(1) GM: Kaylin, make a Fort save.
(9) Kaylin: Fortitude save: [1d20+16] -> [6,16] = (22)
(3) Kibin: (NOOOOOOOo1)
(9) Kaylin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+36] -> [18,36] = (54)
(9) Kaylin: (yeah, that sucked as a save.)
(1) GM: Oh, but first, touch attack [1d20+18] -> [7,18] = (25)
(3) Kibin: (Nooooooooooo!)
(1) GM: Ah, wonderful, wonderful touch AC; what's yours at, Kaylin?
whispering to Kaylin, Slay Living.
(9) Kaylin: (crap. I don't think it's that high)
(3) Kibin: (*prepares funerary music for Kaylin.*)
(1) GM: That's okay. You actually made the save - exactly.
(9) Kaylin: (O.O)
(1) GM: Fortunately, it's only a 5th level spell.
(9) Kaylin: (Hallebloodylujah)
(3) Kibin: (That is the new official word of the day. Hallebloodylujah.)
(1) GM: And Jason's turn.....
(9) Kaylin: (hehe)
(3) Kibin: (Glorious glorious enerveration...)
(1) GM: Evervation, Level 4: 1d4 neagative levels, close ranged touch attack, no save, SR. nagative levels: [1d4] -> [2] = (2)
(3) Kibin: (Now if only he had quickened eneveration. x.x)
(1) GM: Empowered, for grins.
(1) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (base): [1d20+7] -> [4,7] = (11) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(1) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (second): [1d20+2] -> [7,2] = (9) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(3) Kibin: (Well, that sucks.)
(1) GM: And Jason misses.
(3) Kibin: (Ah well. Kaylin, it's all up to you now...)
(1) GM: Kaylin?
(9) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Enervation ( level 4, "Subject gains 1d4 negative levels." )
(9) Kaylin: [1d4] -> [2] = (2)
(3) Kibin: (Oh. Wow. That did a lot.)
(1) GM: touch attack roll?
(1) GM: Kaylin? Attack roll?
(9) Kaylin: UnArmed(Monk Med) Attack Roll: [1d20+7] -> [4,7] = (11) ===> Damage: [0-1] -> -1
(9) Kaylin: UnArmed(Monk Med) Attack Roll: [1d20+1] -> [8,1] = (9) ===> Damage: [0-1] -> -1
(9) Kaylin: (... the dice, they are not with us)
(3) Kibin: (This seems oddly familiar...)
(3) Kibin: [1d4] -> [3] = (3)
(1) GM: Touch AC 12. Dice aren't with anybody today.
(3) Kibin: (Meh.)
(1) GM: Kibin?
** (3) Kibin notices that this is not going very well. So, he readies himself to interfere with Jose's spell... for what good it will do. **
(3) Kibin: (Readied action to cast ray of frost at him when he casts another offensive spell. Yay for concentration checks.)
(3) Kibin: (...not like he probally doesn't have a high concentration check, but it's all I can do.)
(1) GM: Okay. Eldon, then, fires a full volley....
(3) Kibin: (Plus there might be a very slim chance of success, however small. : )
(1) GM: [1d20+26] -> [12,26] = (38), [1d20+21] -> [14,21] = (35), [1d20+16] -> [8,16] = (24), [1d20+11] -> [1,11] = (12)
(3) Kibin: (...and if Eldon was smart, he could do like I'm doing.)
(1) GM: And hits on three attacks. [3d6+3d6+3d6] -> [5,3,3,4,2,6,2,2,3] = (30)
(1) GM: The arrows go thunk, thunk, thunk into him, drawing blood each time; one goes wild, and sticks into one of the books in the bookcase. Which bleeds.
(1) GM: Jose casts a lightning-fast spell.....
(1) GM: Roll your attack and damage.
(3) Kibin: [1d20+17] -> [5,17] = (22)
(1) GM: And you hit.
(3) Kibin: [1d3] -> [1] = (1)
(1) GM: Concentration: [1d20+4] -> [1,4] = (5)
(3) Kibin: (YAY! A WHOLE POINT OF DAMAGE!)
(1) GM: Loses the spell.
(9) Kaylin: (I love you Kibin)
(1) GM: And follows it up with one not quite so fast.....
(3) Kibin: (And... uh... wow you didn't fix that.)
(1) GM: Kaylin, make a Fort save.
(3) Kibin: (But yeah, there's still that spell.)
(1) GM: DC 22.
(3) Kibin: (*uses the force to make Kaylin have a good saving roll.)
(9) Kaylin: Fortitude save: [1d20+16] -> [1,16] = (17)
(9) Kaylin: (oh joy)
(3) Kibin: (The force has failed me. :(
(1) GM: Oh, and touch attack... [1d20+18] -> [1,18] = (19)
(1) GM: And he misses... but holds onto the spell.
(9) Kaylin: (Thanks Kibin ;)
(3) Kibin: (What the crud?)
(1) GM: The dice seem to hate everyone today. Isn't it loverly?
(3) Kibin: (That's four natural 1's in a row!!!!!!!)
(3) Kibin: (Wait. Hmmm, no, my attack wasn't a natural 1.)
(3) Kibin: (So make that 3.)
(1) GM: Jason fakes up a spell......
(3) Kibin: (Oookay. He fakes up a spelll... AND?)
(1) GM: And a Bralani apears directly behind the cleric, and attacks....
(1) GM: [1d20+23] -> [3,23] = (26)
(3) Kibin: (That is one nice summon.)
(3) Kibin: (...and, of course, it's nice because this is around level 18, and not 5. Nevermind.)
(1) GM: With it's +1 Holy Scrimitar [1d20+11] -> [6,11] = (17) for [3d6+4] -> [2,5,1,4] = (12)
(1) GM: Which hits, digging into the cleric.
(1) GM: Anyone care to identify the spell?
(9) Kaylin: (What, +36 sisn't enough?)
(1) GM: Good point.
(3) Kibin: (Heh.)
whispering to Kaylin, Shadow Conjouration, Greater, mimicking Summon Monster VI.
(1) GM: Kaylin?
(9) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Prismatic Spray ( level 7, "Rays hit subjects with variety of effects." )
(9) Kaylin: (Mastery of Shaping so nothing except him gets targetted)
(1) GM: Handy, that.
(1) GM: Roll for effect?
(9) Kaylin: [1d8] -> [1] = (1)
(9) Kaylin: (GAAH)
(3) Kibin: (Heh. Kaylin is angry now.)
(9) Kaylin: (yeah, but she's not going to do anything much with all these nat. 1s)
(1) GM: Which is what, 20 points of fire damage, reflex half?
(3) Kibin: (Yay! 20 points of fire damage!)
(9) Kaylin: (yeah, DC28)
(1) GM: [1d20+14] -> [8,14] = (22)
(1) GM: And a red ray strikes him, hitting for 20 points of fire damage.
(3) Kibin: (Woot. BURN! BURN, AHAAAHAHAAHAHAHHAA!)
(1) GM: Kibin?
(3) Kibin: (My turn?)
(1) GM: Yep.
(3) Kibin: (Hmmm. Can I grab Elorin's bow to use? Or is he not here?)
(1) GM: He's stuck outside. The room was only so big.....
(3) Kibin: (Ah. Dang.)
** (3) Kibin readies another ray of frost, then, set to launch at the LONGLASTING spell. Not the tiny cantrip quickened spells. **
(1) GM: (that was actually a Quickend Slay Living, not a cantrip. Either way.....)
(3) Kibin: (Oh.)
(3) Kibin: (Uh.)
(3) Kibin: (But the long spell has been instakill both times... so...)
(3) Kibin: (Hey, I work with what limited magical knowledge I have.)
(1) GM: (Not that you know that - Casts something, tries to touch Kaylin, nothing happens.)
(1) GM: (every time)
(3) Kibin: (But Kaylin is too far away?)
(3) Kibin: (Casters are weird. O.o)
(1) GM: He's Large, and has reach because of it.
(3) Kibin: (And... oh.)
(1) GM: The room is set up just so that everyone's forced to be in range when he pulls this off....
(1) GM: Or are denied line of sight and line of effect to him.
(3) Kibin: (Figures.)
(1) GM: There's a REASON he meets everyone in his small office.
(3) Kibin: (Surprised Kaylin doesn't have any quickened fireballs.)
(1) GM: Tell me, if you were building a building, and had such recources available, wouldn't you do something similar? And as an added benefit, it looks like a simple, cozy, office.
(3) Kibin: (Yup. Just with bleeding books.)
(10) Eldon Quickfoot (enter): 18:52
(1) GM: Only when someone hits them with asomething pointy.....
(3) Kibin: (Hmmm. I think the flesh to stone trick may have gotten around.)
(10) Eldon Quickfoot: (Back.)
(3) Kibin: (Welcome! I am now deny deny denying the sorcerer the use of disintergrates. :)
(3) Kibin: (Or cleric.)
(3) Kibin: (Hey, I just figured out one of his domains...)
(1) GM: Just in time for your turn, too. Bookcase and desk are traps; reflex save means you go back to where you started. He's just across the five-foot desk, is large, and has been playing around with touch spells.
(3) Kibin: (Hey, I think I may have just figured out BOTH his domains...)
(1) GM: So far, you're the only one who's managed to hurt him much; spent five arrows, four of which hit.
(10) Eldon Quickfoot: Shortbow: [1d20+26] -> [11,26] = (37), [1d20+21] -> [11,21] = (32), [1d20+16] -> [12,16] = (28), [1d20+11] -> [18,11] = (29), Damage: [1d4+2d6+2+5] -> [4,4,2,2,5] = (17), [1d4+2d6+2+5] -> [3,4,1,2,5] = (15), [1d4+2d6+2+5] -> [4,5,3,2,5] = (19), [1d4+2d6+2+5] -> [2,2,3,2,5] = (14)
(1) GM: Your actions acount for 2/3rds of the damage he's taken.
(1) GM: All hit. Holy applies, [17+15+19+14] -> 65
(3) Kibin: (Holy crap, I just found out a way to deal 10d6 damage to someone, no save. O.o)
(10) Eldon Quickfoot: (Well...Isn't that interesting. Of course, it was kinda evident that he was involved in something unholy...)
(3) Kibin: (Sweeeeet. *stores that in OOC section of brain for later*)
(3) Kibin: (And the books aren't really books! They bleed!)
(1) GM: The cleric screams, and looks like he's nearly dead on his feet.
(3) Kibin: (THEY BLEED I TELL YOU!)
(3) Kibin: (Yayyayayayyay please die...)
(1) GM: Oh, yeah, and there's a bleeding book on the bookcase from one of your arrows that missed him.
(10) Eldon Quickfoot: (Transformed people? Somebody cast heal.)
(1) GM: Jose: I tire of this....
(3) Kibin: (Okay, so it's the clerics turn.)
(1) GM: Jose says something truely, truely evil.......
(1) GM: Anyone care to take their readid action?
(3) Kibin: (I do. Please.)
(1) GM: Go for it.
(3) Kibin: [1d20+17] -> [1,17] = (18)
(3) Kibin: (Crud.)
(3) Kibin: (WHY HAVE YOU FAILED ME DICE! WHY!)
(1) GM: And you leave a little frost on a spot on the wall. Anyone else have a readied action to try?
(1) GM: No? Okay. So he gets his spell off.
whispering to Kaylin, Blashpemy.
(3) Kibin: (*cough*blashphemy)
(1) GM: Current caster level 23.....how many HD does everyone have?
(3) Kibin: (19.)
(1) GM: Jason barely avoids being killed, but is weakened and dazed.
(9) Kaylin: (17... 18 if it's affected by Spell power)
(1) GM: Kibin - Weakened and Dazed; you're at a [2d6] -> [1,5] = (6) strength penelty.
(1) GM: No, it's not.
(3) Kibin: (How?)
(3) Kibin: (Oh, nevermind.)
(10) Eldon Quickfoot: (18, I'm pretty sure.)
(3) Kibin: (It's -5 for the paralzyed, -1 for the weakened. x.x)
(1) GM: 17 is at -6; Kaylin - Paralized, weakened, and dazed.
(1) GM: 18 is at -5 - Eldon Paralized, weakened, and dazed.
** (3) Kibin thinks, "Crud" **
** (3) Kibin thinks, "Hey, I'm not paralyzed." **
(1) GM: He then tries for yet another spell... and looks much better.
(1) GM: [4d8+20] -> [7,4,3,4,20] = (38)
(3) Kibin: (Eldon, what type of bow do you have?)
(1) GM: Oh, yeah, the Bralani goes poof.
(1) GM: Into lots of little shards of shadow.....
(1) GM: And it's Jason's turn....
(1) GM: He calls Winddancer in, and she comes, then attempts to possess Eldon.
(1) GM: Resisting?
(3) Kibin: (Huh? O.o)
(3) Kibin: (But you dazed?)
(1) GM: Oh, drat. Oh well.
(10) Eldon Quickfoot: (Um...Shortbow.)
(3) Kibin: (Yay!)
(1) GM: So jason un-dazes, Kaylin's paralized, Kibin Undazes, and it's cleric's turn again.
(3) Kibin: (Yay?)
(10) Eldon Quickfoot: (No. Boo!)
(3) Kibin: (Let's see what spell he casts now...)
(1) GM: He casts a spell...
whispering to Kaylin, Quickend Divine Power
(3) Kibin: (Huh.)
(1) GM: And then tries a touch spell on Kibin.....
(3) Kibin: (A bard can stop all blasphemys from working.)
(1) GM: [1d20+6+19-1] -> [19,6,19,-1] = (43)
(3) Kibin: (Uh.... that's a touch?)
(3) Kibin: (I seem to remember his touch being a lot less... accurate?)
(1) GM: Yep. Will save?
(1) GM: He cast another buff.....
(3) Kibin: Will save: [1d20+16] -> [1,16] = (17)
(1) GM: Harm. Take 150 points of damage.
(3) Kibin: (The dice gods hate us. How many natural 1's has that been?)
(3) Kibin: (Thank goodness for harms effect, at least. :P)
(1) GM: DC was 23; you only needed a 7....
(9) Kaylin: (Y'know, if we didn't get all these nat.1s, I'll bet we'd have won)
(1) GM: His rolls have suffered nearly as much.
(3) Kibin: (He got a 19. x.x)
(9) Kaylin: (That's true)
(1) GM: (this time round, yes)
(1) GM: And Jason's turn. He attempts to possess Eldon, and calls Winddancer in, who lands on Kaylin's shoulder.
(1) GM: Making a Will save, Eldon?
(1) GM: Just before he jumps into Eldon, though, he says "retreat time... grab Kaylin or Eldon - doesn't matter which.
(3) Kibin: (To who?)
(10) Eldon Quickfoot: (No will save.)
(1) GM: Kibin - you took 150 damage, not 148.... ah, Heroe's Feast granted.... [1d8+9] -> [5,9] = (14)
(3) Kibin: (And you forgot that harm cannot reduce someone below 1 HP.)
(1) GM: So you're at 13 HP.
(1) GM: Only on a SUCCESSFUL save, sorry.
(3) Kibin: (Huh? O.o)
(1) GM: It's not the old-style Harm which would leave anybody affected at 1d4 hp.
(1) GM: "Harm charges a subject with negative energy that deals 10 points of damage per caster level (to a maximum of 150 points at 15th level). If the creature successfully saves, harm deals half this amount, but it cannot reduce the target’s hit points to less than 1."
(3) Kibin: (...but that would mean that harm does 75 damage regardless if you save or not! :(
(3) Kibin: (And about as effective as a disintergrate if you don't manage to save...)
(1) GM: The bit about not less than 1 is the same sentence that has the "successfully saves" conditional at the front. If you make your Will save, harm can't kill you. If you don't.....
(3) Kibin: (O.o)
(3) Kibin: (You know how glad I am that I got this amulet?)
(1) GM: Yes, but requires you to be up close and person with your victim.
(1) GM: You bet your character's life I do.
(1) GM: Kibin - your turn.
(3) Kibin: (Is the door open?)
(1) GM: Strangely, it locked shut when the trap went off.....
** (3) Kibin tries opening the door... **
(1) GM: Winddancer squaks at you, and taps her beak on Kaylin impatiently.
** (3) Kibin grabs Kaylin, then. As per Jason's orders. **
(1) GM: And Jose's turn again.....
(1) GM: He casts a spell .....
** (3) Kibin hides behind Kaylin as a shield. Meep. **
(1) GM: And waves of negative energy pour over the room....
(1) GM: Will saves, all around.
(3) Kibin: Will save: [1d20+16] -> [4,16] = (20)
(1) GM: Winddancer: [1d20+9] -> [8,9] = (17)
(9) Kaylin: Will save: [1d20+21] -> [19,21] = (40)
(3) Kibin: (Yay poor rolls.... :D)
(10) Eldon Quickfoot: Will: [1d20+10] -> [1,10] = (11)
(10) Eldon Quickfoot: (Owch.)
(1) GM: DC 23; those who failed, take [1d8+23] -> [6,23] = (29) damage; half for Kaylin.
(3) Kibin: (O.o)
(3) Kibin: (Okay, someone...ow.......)
(1) GM: Fortunately, Kibin slumps into Kaylin, when Jason goes....
(1) GM: And everyone appears outside.
** (9) Kaylin glances around quickly **
(9) Kaylin: That was one extremely powerful evil being.
(1) GM: Paralized. You don't recover for [1d10] -> [5] = (5) minutes.
(1) GM: But after that time.....
(1) GM: Elorin finds the party.
(1) GM: Elorin: Ah. Who's got the diamonds?
(9) Kaylin: (oh. right.)
(9) Kaylin: (I gotta go, dinner. NPC me)
(9) Kaylin has sent you a tree node...
(1) GM: p
(3) Kibin: (Don't forget I asked Elorin to cast Detect Location when I die, to satisfy my curiosity.)
(9) Kaylin: (false alarm, it's about 10 minutes awawy)
(3) Kibin: (Or whatever that's called...)
(3) Kibin: (Just to find out where I go when I die.)
(1) GM: There's an issue involved in that that I'm not wanting to deal with right now.
(3) Kibin: (Aw. :(
(1) GM: And it's probably not what you think.
(3) Kibin: (Okay then.)
(1) GM: Seriously; due to a corrupt tree issue earlier, I don't have Elorin's more recent character sheet; who's got the diamonds, and how much in them?
(3) Kibin: (Elorin does, I think. Not sure.)
(1) GM: Hmm. Well, True Ressurection anyway.
(3) Kibin: (Uh... so... after 10 minutes, I'm alive again?)
Elorin casts True Resurrection ( level 9, "As resurrection, plus remains are not needed" )
Elorin can cast True Resurrection 0 more times
(1) GM: Yep.
(3) Kibin: [1d4] -> [2] = (2)
(1) GM: Jason steps out of Eldon.
(1) GM: Jason: Oookay..... that went.....
(1) GM: Jason: yeah.
(3) Kibin: Badly?
(1) GM: Jason: You'd think, for someone so peaceable, he wouldn't be so prepared for war.....
(10) Eldon Quickfoot: "Rather."
(3) Kibin: (Hey, use death ward, and we're invincible to all but the disintergrates.)
(10) Eldon Quickfoot: "He isn't peaceable. He's a dictator."
(3) Kibin: (Hey, I could survive a disintergrate now with average damage. Sweet.)
(1) GM: Of course, Disintigrate has an attack roll. Beware Crits!
(3) Kibin: (Be quiet you. :P)
(3) Kibin: (Don't spoil my happy moment.)
** (3) Kibin looks around to see where he is. **
(1) GM: Bah, it's only about a 4 or 8% chance.
(1) GM: About a thousand feet away from the church.
** (3) Kibin then looks at himself to see what he is, not trusting ressurection spells after the last two. **
(10) Eldon Quickfoot: (Sorry if I'm not active - Got family over.)
(1) GM: Jason: Sorry; I can't go as far as Kaylin can.
(1) GM: Still a dragon.
(3) Kibin: (Have to go now.)
(1) GM: Decent stopping point?
(3) Kibin: (Sure.)
(1) GM:
