Server Administrator-> You have connected to an OpenRPG server, version '1.6.1'.
Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for
a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.
Session is schedualed for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.
(2) Kibin (enter): 17:20
(2) Kibin: Hello again.
(2) Kibin: You might want to post on the forums that you're back.
(1) GM: Went a little long, feeling much better after a shower.
(2) Kibin: Douglas read my PM, but didn't reply or anything. :P
(3) Eldon Quickfoot (enter): 17:26
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Sorry for forgetting)
(1) GM: Good afternoon.
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Good evening)
(2) Kibin: Woot. Person.
(4) *Seneschal (enter): 17:28
(4) *Seneschal: Disconnecting from server...
(4) *Seneschal (exit): 17:28
(1) GM: Okay, that's different.
(1) GM: Hmm...
(1) = Jack: Test
(2) Kibin: O.o
(1) Jack: Test
(2) Kibin: I think this is all the people we'll get.
(1) Jack: Test
(1) Jack: Very interesting.
(1) GM: But gets annoying if not done well.
(2) Kibin: Violist is asleep, I think, and douglas didn't reply so I have no clue what he's doing. :P
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Shouldn't that be 'Vewy intewesting?'
(1) GM: Only when I'm actively making that particular joke.
(2) Kibin: What joke?
(1) GM: "Be Vewy Vewy qwiet, I'm hunting Wabbits!
(1) GM: More arefference than a joke, granted, but still....
(1) GM: Campaign, though - we're in the middle of a battle with two CR 16 demons - and down by two players.
(2) Kibin: And I'm pretty sure we're not getting any more.
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (I summon Drizzt?)
(2) Kibin: Gah! Don't say that name! You'll get the spooky wizards after us!
(1) GM: The spooky Wizards that live on the Coast?
(1) GM: Granted, they do both have Greater Teleport at will, and one might have a sudden need to be elsewhere.... hmm....
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (The spooky Wizards that live on the Coast?)
(2) Kibin: Woot, naruto up next!
(1) GM: Yes - Wizards of the Coast - the publishers of D&D.
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (They have Greater Teleport at will?)
(2) Kibin: They also have greater scrying at will.
(1) GM: Reffering back to the CR 16 critters.
(2) Kibin: Swear they have divine ranks too, with copyright infringement as their domain.
(2) Kibin: Jack, out of curioisty, how much HP does Elorin have?
(2) Kibin: Wondering if I have the highest HP out of the entire party.
(1) GM: Yeah, you seem to. Of course, he can suppliment his HP with a Heal at any moment.....
(2) Kibin: True.
(2) Kibin: Oh, and there was a slight error on the aerial race, the first once.
(1) GM: Oh?
(2) Kibin: With average manuverability, you can sacrifice 5 feet of movement to move 45 degrees in place.
(2) Kibin: And can turn in place like that at 90 degrees.
(2) Kibin: So by sacrificing 20 feet of movement, I can make a sharp turn of 180 degrees in two squares.
(1) GM: Ah, okay; So theoretically, you could fly around in circles in a 10x10 foot room. Hm.
(2) Kibin: Yup.
(2) Kibin: The regular turning is still better if you need to get somewhere fast and there's obstacles in your way, though.
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (I'd limit it to only one 45-degree turn...But realism and D&D have only a passing aquantance.)
(2) Kibin: Maximum turn is 90 degrees in place.
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ah, ok.)
(2) Kibin: Thus, I can slow down to 90 feet of movement in order to move 90 degrees in a single square.
(1) GM: It's a matter of how good manueverability you have - methinks most modern airplanes have poor manueverability at best.
(2) Kibin: Yeah, but average manuverability is more of that of a small bird.
(2) Kibin: And, I figured out where I read that 150 first round, 300 second round.
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: BRB
(2) Kibin: It's in the rules for when a flying creature stalls.
(2) Kibin: The FAQ actually says 500 in the first round, and something like 1200 each round after when it hits terminal velocity.
(1) GM: Ah. So you probably would have gone splat, then.... just as well. You are areal, though, so...
(2) Kibin: That's when FALLING, though.
(2) Kibin: Stalling, tehe wings still act as a sort of a parachute.
(1) GM: You were also stunned while actively flying; perhaps your wings remained outstretched or something.
(1) GM: Anyway... so, care to face off against two CR 16 critters.... we can just say Kaylin and Elorin remain stunned for a long time....
(2) Kibin: Well, healing is nice. *cough*
(1) GM: Ah, you've still got over a hundred HP.....
(2) Kibin: Eh, maybe. But I fail the fortitude save for the stunning on a roll of 7 or less.
(2) Kibin: Hmmm, though they might have low HP to make up for that...
(2) Kibin: Gah, must not metagame...
(1) GM: And you're starting out fairly fresh...... and now Jason isn't actively occupied...... and he still has most his spells......
(2) Kibin: Yeah. Invincible commoner with quarterstaff support is nice. :)
(1) GM: Hmm... a successful full attack has a very good chance of affecting you... interesting.
(1) GM: Well, I suppose we can maybe pull this off.
(1) GM: Care to try?
(2) Kibin: Eh, sure.
Moving to room 'D and D'..

Server Administrator->
Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for
a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.
Session is schedualed for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.
(2) Kibin (enter): 17:55
(2) Kibin: (How is it balanced, anyway?)
(1) GM: By being CR 16?
(1) GM: By expecting Wizards to kill the Teleporational abilies?
(2) Kibin: (I meant the stunning.)
(2) Kibin: (Ahha! Idea...)
(1) GM: By having to deal with the really low damage base of the Spiked Chain?
(2) Kibin: (Maybe. :P)
(2) Kibin (exit): 17:59
(2) Kibin (enter): 17:59
(1) GM: I'm guessing Narf fell asleep?
(2) Kibin: (Something like that. :P)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot (enter): 18:01
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Back)
(2) Kibin: (Would it be possible to bluff someone into using a poor attribute for something like a trip? Like making someones strength oriented use dexterity for your next trip attempt, with a successful bluff check?)
(1) GM: Not readily, no. Could maybe use a variation on a feint to make him easier to hit on the touch attack... but that's usually pretty trivial anyway.
(1) GM: And these things Dex is only slightly worse than their strength anyway, so....
(2) Kibin: (Meh. Was thinking more like a foot or something in their way, using bluff so they won't notice it. Or something.)
(2) Kibin: (Not talking about these specifically.)
(1) GM: Anyway... notes...
(1) GM: And kibin had just gone, failing to freeze things with his breath....
(1) GM: so it's Beast 1's turn.
(1) GM: The wounds on his body slowly close.....
(2) Kibin: (Not that it matters, but the DC to save against that is 25 now.)\
(1) GM: Have you actually gotten any sneak attack damage against either?
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Supper's here - I'll be in sporadically.)
(2) Kibin: (Um. No.)
(1) GM: Anyway... beast 1's turn.
(2) Kibin: (Haven't even had a chance to attack either as well.)
(1) GM: He sees about stopping that crazy little dragon that somehow thinks keeping cool is a GOOD thing.
(2) Kibin: (Next time I'm sleeping inside the cloud. :P
(1) GM: Spiked Chain: [1d20+25] -> [19,25] = (44) for [2d6+15] -> [4,4,15] = (23); again: [1d20+20] -> [17,20] = (37) for [2d6+15] -> [4,1,15] = (20), and again: [1d20+15] -> [5,15] = (20) for [2d6+15] -> [4,4,15] = (23) and bite [1d20+22] -> [12,22] = (34) for [2d8+5] -> [8,2,5] = (15) and tail [1d20+22] -> [14,22] = (36) for [2d6+5] -> [5,1,5] = (11)
(2) Kibin: (Dodge bonus is the one that's closes, as default.)
(1) GM: What's the threat range on a spiked chain....
(2) Kibin: (First one was a hit...)
(2) Kibin: Fortitude save: [1d20+19] -> [18,19] = (37)
(2) Kibin: (O.O)
(2) Kibin: (Um. Think I saved on the stun effect at least.)
(1) GM: Threat just 20/x2; good. Yeah. Saved on it. Just the 23 damage.
(1) GM: And Jason's turn.....
(1) GM: Magic Circle Against Evil, 3rd: As protection spells, but 10-ft. radius and 10 min./level.
(1) GM: Jason just sort of grins as the two beasts swipe their non-magical chains through the "opening" he left.
(1) GM: Eldon?
(2) Kibin: (Can anyone do a bunch of damage to those spiked chains?)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Can I hit either of them? I had my bow out, right?)
(1) GM: You did have your bow out, yes; of course, they've both made attacks of opportunity now already.....
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: Shortbow: [1d20+26] -> [1,26] = (27), [1d20+21] -> [9,21] = (30), [1d20+16] -> [3,16] = (19), [1d20+11] -> [2,11] = (13), Damage: [1d4+2d6+2+5] -> [4,3,1,2,5] = (15), [1d4+2d6+2+5] -> [3,1,6,2,5] = (17), [1d4+2d6+2+5] -> [1,4,4,2,5] = (16), [1d4+2d6+2+5] -> [2,6,1,2,5] = (16)
(1) GM: Which means, unless they have combat reflexes, they can't follow up if you happen to provoke.
(1) GM: AC 35 - miss, miss, miss, miss. Your arrows go flying plunk, plunk, plunk, plunk into the wall.
(1) GM: Although one does scrape the demon's hide first, not hitting effectively.
(1) GM: Kaylin's "stunned"
(1) GM: Beast 2 sees about keeping that silly archer down....
(1) GM: Spiked Chain: [1d20+25] -> [12,25] = (37) for [2d6+15] -> [2,1,15] = (18); again: [1d20+20] -> [2,20] = (22) for [2d6+15] -> [2,5,15] = (22), and again: [1d20+15] -> [15,15] = (30) for [2d6+15] -> [2,6,15] = (23) and bite [1d20+22] -> [10,22] = (32) for [2d8+5] -> [2,8,5] = (15) and tail [1d20+22] -> [5,22] = (27) for [2d6+5] -> [4,3,5] = (12)
(1) GM: What's your AC at the moment?
(2) Kibin: (Heh. Must have that +5 more to AC...)
(1) GM: Eldon? AC?
(2) Kibin: (He's supper-semi-AFK)
(1) GM: Ah, right.
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (35 normal, 37 with Dodge. Touch 24/26 )
(2) Kibin: (+6 natural armor bonus is nice.)
(1) GM: Ah, assuming you're dodging against this one, Hit for 18, miss, miss, miss, miss, miss. One Fort save, as that crazy beast hits you, hard, on the head, with his chain.
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+15] -> [5,15] = (20)
(2) Kibin: (Ouch.)
(1) GM: DC 27, Stunned for [1d4] -> [1] = (1) rounds, drop your bow, lose dex to AC, and take a -2 AC penalty.
(1) GM: And Kibin's turn again.
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (31/33, 24/26)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (20/22)
(1) GM: New effective AC?
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yep.)
(1) GM: That's... going to be an ouch next round, isn't it?
(1) GM: Oh well, Kibin's turn.
(2) Kibin: (Hmmm...)
(1) GM: Do note that Jason threatens.... and he's the one flanked at the moment.
(2) Kibin: (Okay, kind of a wild idea, but here goes. Could I ready an action to disarm someone on the third attack they do, so they use the lower attack bonus?)
(1) GM: Go for it. Readied actions deny you your full attack, so I'm okay with that.
(2) Kibin: (I'm asking if the disarm will actually be for the reduced attack bonus.)
(1) GM: Yes, yes it would. Creative enough that I'll permit it.
(1) GM: Doing anything with the Move action?
** (2) Kibin hovers, and readies an action to disarm the spiked chain from whoever is attacking him on the third attack when he's nice and off balance. **
(2) Kibin: (Hover is fine.)
(1) GM: In that case, Beast-1 again, pressing his advantage against the halfling.
(1) GM: Spiked Chain: [1d20+25] -> [1,25] = (26) for [2d6+15] -> [4,3,15] = (22); again: [1d20+20] -> [3,20] = (23) for [2d6+15] -> [6,3,15] = (24), and again: [1d20+15] -> [16,15] = (31) for [2d6+15] -> [2,1,15] = (18) and bite [1d20+22] -> [11,22] = (33) for [2d8+5] -> [2,7,5] = (14) and tail [1d20+22] -> [13,22] = (35) for [2d6+5] -> [5,1,5] = (11)
(1) GM: Annnd.... [1d100] -> [68] = (68)
(1) GM: Hold up a minute... looking up some interesting tables...
(1) GM: Ah, Dex check [1d20+7] -> [8,7] = (15)
(1) GM: Ah well, he hangs onto it.
(2) Kibin: (Hmmm? O.o)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Not sure what my HP was, so I set it to fifty.)
(1) GM: AC only 22, so ouch so the second and third spike chain strike hit; bite and tail both hit. So that's two fort saves, [24+18+14+11] -> 67
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+15] -> [3,15] = (18)[1d20+15] -> [3,15] = (18)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: [1d20+15] -> [6,15] = (21)[1d20+15] -> [11,15] = (26)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Thought I might have broken the random generator.)
(1) GM: And Eldon goes down, bleeding......
(1) GM: Jason's turn......
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Actually, if we use the -10 rule, that would be dead.)
(2) Kibin: (?)
(2) Kibin: (50, that was 48 damage...)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (I thought it was 67?)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Or was that something else.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (?)
(2) Kibin: (Wait.)
(2) Kibin: (44.. oh wait, bite and tail hits. Hmmm.)
(1) GM: [24+18+14+11] -> 67 yeah, halfling's a bloody pool of broken bones. Sorry.
(1) GM: Infernal wound doesn't matter too much at this point....
(1) GM: Jason's turn.....
(2) Kibin: (We need that special material in the Complete Warrior that makes there be no level loss for raise dead and ressurection...)
(1) GM: Jason: Stupid demons..... I liked him......
(1) GM: Ghost Malevolence: Will Save DC 26 (15 + Ghost's Cha modifier) or possess subject
(1) GM: Will: [1d20+15] -> [14,15] = (29)
(1) GM: The beast laughs......
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (It is how he'd want to go out - In battle, fighting.)
(1) GM: And Eldon's not doing so hot, so it's Beast 2's turn......
(1) GM: Spiked Chain: [1d20+25] -> [15,25] = (40) for [2d6+15] -> [5,5,15] = (25); again: [1d20+20] -> [2,20] = (22) for [2d6+15] -> [4,5,15] = (24), and again: [1d20+15] -> [15,15] = (30) for [2d6+15] -> [5,6,15] = (26) and bite [1d20+22] -> [11,22] = (33) for [2d8+5] -> [4,7,5] = (16) and tail [1d20+22] -> [6,22] = (28) for [2d6+5] -> [3,3,5] = (11)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Course, he'd want to fight some more.)
(2) Kibin: (Ow, whif whif.)
(2) Kibin: Fortitude save: [1d20+19] -> [15,19] = (34)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Wonder if you'd find him in...What's it called? 'The plane of battle'?)
(2) Kibin: (Hmmmm. That lady gets free true ressurections or something, doesn't she...)
(1) GM: Oh, that's a hit. And Kibin shrugs off the nasty blow to his little, dragon-scale plated head.
(1) GM: Taking your Readied action?
(2) Kibin: (Yup.)
(1) GM: Okay. Got improved Disarm? If not.... AoO with tail: [1d20+22] -> [18,22] = (40) for [2d6+5] -> [3,3,5] = (11)
(2) Kibin: (Ow. :(
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (...Free food, free drink, endless battle...Not sure he'd want to come back. Have to think about it...)
(1) GM: Also... you're bleeding. Also: If the defender’s attack of opportunity deals any damage, your disarm attempt fails.
(1) GM: Pity.
(2) Kibin: (Eh, was a gamble anyway.)
(1) GM: And it's your turn. Lose an extra 2 HP.
(2) Kibin: (Is there flanking?)
(1) GM: Yes - Jason threatens.
** (2) Kibin unleashes a full attack action on the enemy that just attacked him... **
(2) Kibin: [1d20+25
(2) Kibin: [1d20+25] -> [8,25] = (33)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+23] -> [8,23] = (31)
(2) Kibin: [1d20+23] -> [17,23] = (40)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (On the other hand, I don't have a backup character.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (He has been fun to play.)
(2) Kibin: (And there's a +2 bonus from flanking. Yay. :P)
(1) GM: AC 35; +2 for flanking; two hits. Sneak attack applies; roll for damage.
(2) Kibin: [1d6+6+9d6] -> [5,6,5,2,1,4,2,3,4,3,3] = (38)
(2) Kibin: [1d4+5+9d6] -> [1,5,1,4,1,3,6,4,5,5,5] = (40)
(2) Kibin: (Sweet, nearly half of it's HP in one attack.)
(1) GM: DR also applies..... [38+40-10-10] -> 58
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (But he wasn't talkative...Partly my fault.)
(2) Kibin: (Or not.)
(2) Kibin: (Just accept the true ressurection. :P)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (I might want to play another character.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (There are considerations.)
(1) GM: Beast 2... hesitates, stops, and shakes his head. He then frowns, and Concentrates.. [1d20+24] -> [19,24] = (43)
(1) GM: And vanishes from view.
(2) Kibin: (Yeah, an actual tank character might be nice.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Been thinking about that...Perhaps a ranged variation on one of the combat builtds.)
(1) GM: Ah, beast 1; sorry - two was the one who had gone just recently.
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Kensai with a ranged weapon?)
(2) Kibin: (It's kind of sad when the rogue is the best tank in the party, discounting the healer.)
(2) Kibin: (The one I damaged disappeared? Or the non-damaged one?)
(1) GM: The one you didn't.
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Can kensai wield ranged weapons?)
(2) Kibin: (Ah, okay, sweet.)
(1) GM: Where are they found?
(2) Kibin: (Now I just gotta make this 48 HP last for a while. :P)
(1) GM: Jason: Ah, the piddly widdle demon is scared?
(1) GM: Ghost Malevolence: Will Save DC 26 (15 + Ghost's Cha modifier) or possess subject
(1) GM: [1d20+15] -> [16,15] = (31)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Complete Warrior - They sacrifice XP to enchant their weapon, but can only use that weapon and must swear a binding, specific oath.)
(2) Kibin: (Dang it, probability keeps taunting me.)
(2) Kibin: (Yeah, I know, read the class.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (The GM asked.)
(2) Kibin: (Ah.)
(1) GM: And the demon laughs as it forces the silly little ghost back out of it's skin.
(1) GM: Beast 2 tries to squash the little target it had been assigned....
(1) GM: Spiked Chain: [1d20+25] -> [11,25] = (36) for [2d6+15] -> [2,5,15] = (22); again: [1d20+20] -> [14,20] = (34) for [2d6+15] -> [6,4,15] = (25), and again: [1d20+15] -> [8,15] = (23) for [2d6+15] -> [2,2,15] = (19) and bite [1d20+22] -> [3,22] = (25) for [2d8+5] -> [7,8,5] = (20) and tail [1d20+22] -> [5,22] = (27) for [2d6+5] -> [6,2,5] = (13)
(2) Kibin: (And he misses every single attack. O.o)
(1) GM: Swish, swish, swish, empty air, empty air. The beast can't get a grip on the slippry little dragon.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(2) Kibin: (Probability is taunting me again...)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yep, meelee, ranged or natural weapons.)
** (2) Kibin unleashes another paralyzing breath, trying to get it to affect something other than cows and allies. **
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Of at least masterwork.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (If not natural)
(1) GM: Oh, and the demon's skin pulls back together.....
(1) GM: Fort save: [1d20+16] -> [6,16] = (22)
(1) GM: What's your DC?
(2) Kibin: (25.)
(2) Kibin: (o.o)
(1) GM: [1d6] -> [4] = (4)
(1) GM: [1d6] -> [4] = (4)
(1) GM: Probably went up a point with the new level.... let's see.... 1d6 rounds +1 per age category - so 5 rounds. Paralized.
(1) GM: And it's Jason's turn.
(1) GM: Jason: Ah... cute little frozen demon.....
(1) GM: Quarterstaff (base): [1d20+8] -> [17,8] = (25) ===> Damage: [1d6+1] -> [5,1] = (6)
(1) GM: Quarterstaff (second): [1d20+3] -> [14,3] = (17) ===> Damage: [1d6+1] -> [1,1] = (2)
(1) GM: Helpless - Dex 0, and +4 to the attack. effective AC 19. Pity Jason can't penetrate it's thick hide.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(1) GM: You watch as it's skin knits itself together....
(2) Kibin: (Is Elorin's sword holy?)
(1) GM: Yes, it is Holy.
** (2) Kibin borrows Elorin's sword while he's stunned, and takes his time in making as painful a blow as he can to the devil. **
(1) GM: Ah, dinner. Gotta go.
(2) Kibin: (:(
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Ok.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Now, what base class would be best for a Kensai?)
(2) Kibin: (Hey sweet, you being a kensai means I'll have an ally that's lawful good!)
(2) Kibin: (Something without a good sense motive? :)
(2) Kibin: (Could go for another swashbuckler.)
(2) Kibin: (Go for a barbarian/dervish! :D)
(2) Kibin: (Anyway, maybe a fighter.)
(2) Kibin: (Or a monk with flaming fists of fury.)
(2) Kibin: (Sorcerer with flaming fists of fury! :D)
(2) Kibin: (But, you're probally looking for melee types. A good old fighter?)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (No, ranged weapon. Fighter means feats...)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Maybe make more than one runup?)
(2) Kibin: (Comeon. Can't you make SOMETHING that can be in melee? I don't wanna be the only melee guy...)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yeah, but things keep flying out of range!)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (That's it! An Axe of Returning! :D )
(2) Kibin: (Meh.)
(2) Kibin: (Can't go wrong with a bard. :D)
(2) Kibin: (Ah, wait, lawful requirement.)
(2) Kibin: (Make a fighter with a magical never runs out of bolts heavy crossbow? :D
(2) Kibin: (Or, rapid reload plus dual light crossbows, for dual light cross bow firing fun! :D)
(2) Kibin: (Combine with tumble and jump, use matrix references sparingly.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Kensai can only imbue one weapon. Magic Crossbow of Instant Reloading?)
(2) Kibin: (Yeah.)
(2) Kibin: (Basically an assault rifle.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: ("I know what you're thinking. You're thinking 'Did he shoot one hundred and seventeen rounds, or only one hundred and sixteen'. Well, do ya feel luckly, punk? Do ya?")
(2) Kibin: (Heh, yeah. :D)
(2) Kibin: (Doesn't seem that overpowered.)
(2) Kibin: (Plus it would be super cool with a bunch of agileness.)
(2) Kibin: (Don't wanna be the party tank, though. x.x)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (...Half-celestial Kensai, for flying?)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Half-dragon?)
(2) Kibin: (Ooo...)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: ('See this? This is my BOOMSWORD!' - Flaming Burst.)
(2) Kibin: (Lol.)
(1) GM: Back.
(1) GM: And you were about to see about grabbing Eldon's sword, as I recall.
(2) Kibin: (Hey, I'm not that greedy yet. Elorin's sword, I was pretty sure he had a holy enchantment on it or something.)
(1) GM: No, actually; his sword is merely masterwork.
(2) Kibin: (Ah. Eldons sword, then.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Rapier +1(+5), Holy, Ghost Touch, Flaming, 50,020gp, 1d4 damage, 18-20/x2, 1lb.)
(2) Kibin: (Then coup de grace on the devil.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (+5 with Elorins Magic Weapon.)
(2) Kibin: (Just had to put the price there, didn't you. x.x)
(1) GM: Roll your automatic crit damage, with sneak attack.
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (I copied and pasted from the character sheet.)
(2) Kibin: (Oh, uh. How much damage and stuff? And is flaming activated or anything?)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Flaming takes a standard action to activate and no.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: Rapier: [1d20+26] -> [3,26] = (29), [1d20+21] -> [19,21] = (40), [1d20+16] -> [3,16] = (19), [1d20+11] -> [7,11] = (18), Damage: [1d4+2d6+2d6+2+8+5] -> [1,6,5,5,4,2,8,5] = (36), [1d4+2d6+2d6+2+8+5] -> [3,2,2,2,3,2,8,5] = (27), [1d4+2d6+2d6+2+8+5] -> [4,1,6,5,3,2,8,5] = (34), [1d4+2d6+2d6+2+8+5] -> [4,2,4,4,6,2,8,5] = (35)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (That's the macro for it, without flaming.)
(2) Kibin: [2d4+2d6+7+9d6] -> [3,2,3,4,7,2,5,2,4,1,3,2,2,6] = (46)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (2d6 of damage is from an ability, so is the +8, I think.)
(1) GM: Do note that it's Kibin that needs to roll; 1d4(base)+1d4(crit)+5(enhancement)+5(Crit Enhancement)+strength mod twice + sneak attack.
(2) Kibin: (Mmm, 56 fortitude save.)
(2) Kibin: (Oooops, increase that by 5.)
(2) Kibin: (DC 61 fortitude save in case it matters.)
(1) GM: DR applies.... and oddly, the thing smiles slightly as you rip into it's throat.......
(2) Kibin: (It still breathing whatever?)
(1) GM: And that's one round to get Eldon's sword, one to CdG.
(1) GM: Still obviously recovering ... visibly so.
(2) Kibin: (Can Kaylin talk?)
(1) GM: Well, she can now. It's been a while.
(1) GM: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+21] -> [13,21] = (34)
(2) Kibin: (*cough*Eldon's holy shortbow plus Elorin's silver arrows.)
(1) GM: Kaylin: Oh, you need a holy silver weapon.... anyone got any silversheen?
(2) Kibin: Doesn't Eldon have a holy bow?)
(2) Kibin: And Elorin probally carries silver arrows?
(1) GM: The beast's eyes unfocus for a moment.... anyone taking an AoO?
(1) GM: Kibin's about the only one that threatens that can actually do much....
** (2) Kibin slashes at the beast while talking to Kaylin. **
(1) GM: Attack and damage roll?
(2) Kibin: [1d20+23] -> [6,23] = (29)
(1) GM: That would be a hit - sneak attack applies.
(2) Kibin: [1d4+5+9d6] -> [4,5,4,4,2,5,4,2,1,4,3] = (38)
(7) Kaylin (enter): 19:22
(1) GM: Concentration: [1d20+24] -> [7,24] = (31)
(2) Kibin: (Hello Kaylin. We're just talking about killing a devil since I paralyzed it for half a minute. :)
(7) Kaylin: (blah, was that 7:30 EST? Not thinking well today.)
(2) Kibin: (Yeah. :P)
(2) Kibin: (You missed the battle. Where I actually paralzed someone other than cows and you. :)
(7) Kaylin: (Awh, dang :D)
(1) GM: And it's Kibin's turn.
(2) Kibin: (Um, does Eldon have a holy bow?)
(1) GM: Taking an action this round?
(2) Kibin: (If I've seen Eldon use a holy bow, and if Elorin has some silver arrows, yeah.)
(2) Kibin: (And... hmmm.)
(1) GM: Needs his turn to hand them to you, though.....
(2) Kibin: (Hmmm, on second thought...)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Yep, Eldons' bow is holy. Same enchantments as the sword.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Eldon went splat.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (I'm thinking of making a Kensai.)
(1) GM: Elorin: Oh, you need one of my arrows? Here... Silver, you said?
** (2) Kibin grabs Eldon's bow, and says to Elorin, "Think so." **
(1) GM: So that requires a move at least......
(1) GM: Elorin hands you the arrow.
(1) GM: And it's Kaylin's turn.
(7) Kaylin: (erm, I have no idea what's going on in this battle so far)
(2) Kibin: (Devil paralyzed. You could poke it if you want to.)
(1) GM: Same battle we left off with - one ported out at some point, one is currently paralyzed by Kibin.
(1) GM: And it's your turn.
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (And Eldon went splat.)
(2) Kibin: (Yeah. :P)\
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (I need to BRB)
(1) GM: Oh, almost forgot - Kibin - you're suffering from an Infernal wound - you've got about four rounds of bleeding at this point - another 8 hp damage.
(7) Kaylin: Should we finish this now or attempt to capture?
(2) Kibin: (I hvae a holy bow and silver arrow in hand, ready to coup de grace the creature. Hurry up and let it get to my turn.)
(1) GM: Okay, so doing nothing in particular.....
** (7) Kaylin will do nothing thne. **
(1) GM: Devil concentrates: [1d20+24] -> [20,24] = (44)....
(1) GM: And vanishes.
(1) GM: Kibin - your turn, lose 2 HP.
(2) Kibin: Hmmm.
(1) GM: Elorin: You okay?
(2) Kibin: Aside from a little bleeding, yeah.
** (2) Kibin hands the silver arrow back. And then wonders what to do with Eldon. Hmmm. "Do you have any more diamonds?" **
(7) Kaylin: (Eldon died? O.o)
(2) Kibin: (Um, yeah?)
(1) GM: Elorin: Some. Not enough to bring him back nicely. Could still grab him, though.
(1) GM: Elorin: Meanwhile....
Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
Elorin can cast Heal 98 more times
Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
Elorin can cast Level 6 Spell 3 more times
(1) GM: [1d20+19] -> [12,19] = (31)
(1) GM: And the bleeding stops, and you feel much, much better.
(2) Kibin: Thanks.
(1) GM: 150 HP of healing. And you needed most of it.......
(1) GM: Elorin: It's easy enough.
(7) Kaylin: I would appreciate being Healed if possible, too.
(1) GM: Jason: So... why do you think the first left? The second, I understand.....
** (2) Kibin shrugs. "Scared or something? I dunno." **
(1) GM: Elorin: Of course.
Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
Elorin can cast Heal 97 more times
Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
Elorin can cast Level 6 Spell 2 more times
(7) Kaylin: Perhaps they were ordered to merely investigate us?
** (2) Kibin hmms. "Maybe the original cleric got angry at that caster for making the simulacrum, and did our job for us." **
(7) Kaylin: Many thanks, Elorin.
(1) GM: Jason: Possible.... but then why recall one in the middle of the fight?
(2) Kibin: Though that might be a little bit hopeful. Hmmm.
(2) Kibin: To protect him? Duh.
(1) GM: Jason: Wouldn't he have called back both, if that were the case?
(2) Kibin: Um. Hmmm.
(2) Kibin: Standard evil guy confidence? Or something...
(1) GM: Jason: Ah well, I'm sure we're liable to have answers eventaully. Meanwhile....
(1) GM: Jason sinks down under the bed for some rest.
(2) Kibin: (What time is it, anyway?)
(2) Kibin: (ICly, that is.)
(1) GM: Late at night.
(1) GM: You're not sure exactly; you were woken in the middle of resting.
(7) Kaylin: That's a good idea, Jason.
** (2) Kibin flies back up to the cloud, then. Making sure to be INSIDE the cloud so people don't see him as easily. **
** (7) Kaylin sits in a chair and meditates. **
(7) Kaylin: Kibin, is that really such a good idea?
(2) Kibin: Eh, that other sorcerer who liked to use that only sent one a night.
(7) Kaylin: Well... if you're sure...
** (3) Eldon Quickfoot lies on the ground and rots. **
(7) Kaylin: See you in the morning.
** (7) Kaylin makes a note to get to Eldon tomorrow... **
(1) GM: Elorin: Well, before we go to bed... do we want to help Eldon? I could bring him here... but not gently. He'd be a bit shaken for a time.
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (What's a good base class for a Kensai? Also, is a repeating/reloading heavy crossbow possible?)
(2) Kibin: (Go fighter.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Flying Kensai with an assault rifle... :D )
(2) Kibin: (So someone will actually have more HP than me. :(
(1) GM: (in other words... same or different character?)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Different character.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (I'm thinking, more talkative character, too. All my characters tend not to talk much - Much like me.)
(7) Kaylin: (Though IC we should still bring Eldon back before asking if he wants to leave)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (You can ask him before rezzing.)
(1) GM: Kaylin - you got something for that?
(2) Kibin: (Nothing that says you can't use a sending to the dead.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (If he's on that plane of battle, whatever it's called...Free food, free drink, endless battle...)
(7) Kaylin: (Sending works to deceased characters? I didn't know...)
(2) Kibin: (There's a 5% chance it won't work, sure...)
(2) Kibin: (Or Jason could just shadow evoke a sending. Why would Eldon choose to try to save against a will effect if he's dead?)
(7) Kaylin: We should at least keep his body somewhere safe, that's true.
** (2) Kibin happilly snores on the as-light-as-he-wants-it cloud. **
(7) Kaylin: I have a feeling it is considered impolite to leave corpses lying around.
(1) GM: (Unfortunately, he doesn't have the Greater version needed to emulate Sending.)
(2) Kibin: (Meh.)
(1) GM: Jason sits up through the bed.
(7) Kaylin: Tomorrow when I prepare spells I shall try to contact his spirit.
(7) Kaylin: (brb)
(1) GM: Jason: Why? Mine's still bured under a mile of glass. Nobody's moved it since it fell.
(2) Kibin: (Wonder if there's a way to get a bit of non-rotting flesh from Jason.)
(1) GM: (it's a thousand years dessicated... )
(7) Kaylin: His is above ground in a human city.
(2) Kibin: (Hmmm. There is a spell with time travel...)
(2) Kibin: (Kaylin, you forgot that this is in a town of HAPPY PEOPLE that don't really care.)
(7) Kaylin: (Some of them aren't braindead anymore)
(1) GM: Actually, teleported to the cliff town, if I recall - nobody really wanted to stay the night there.....
(2) Kibin: (Oh. Yeah, forgot about that.)
(1) GM: Jason: There is that... hmm... he's got a family, parents, at least, right? They might have some ceremonies.
(2) Kibin: (Glamer? :P)
(2) Kibin: (Simple disintergrate? Keeping a piece of flesh for ressurection, of course.)
(1) GM: Jason: Well, if you're worried about it.... I didn't really need sleep anyway.
(1) GM: Silent Image, 1: Creates minor illusion of your design (will save)
(1) GM: An image of a well-packed trunk appears over Eldon's body.
** (2) Kibin continues snoring happily, having dreams about something. **
(1) GM: Jason just sits there, concentrating, all night.
(1) GM: The next morning......
(2) Kibin: (Being undead is a lonely existance...)
(2) Kibin: (Oh, and I don't think undead can run, on the account of inability to make constitution checks.)
(1) GM: (that was a previous edition..... not present in 3.5, interestingly enough. They don't make Con checks, and those that can run (bascially everything except zombies) can do so forever. They don't tire.)
(2) Kibin: (Hmmm.)
(2) Kibin: (Anyway...)
** (2) Kibin does a quick freefall from the cloud when he wakes up, making sure to start flying again before he goes smushy on the ground. Then goes over to the magic shop. **
(1) GM: And the smith greets you warmly. She seems rather happy this morning.
(1) GM: Doesn't appear she got much sleep, though.
** (2) Kibin gets an Amulet of Natural Armor +5 effect added to his amulet at the store. (And have to go in a few minutes, so probally should wrap this up soon.) **
(1) GM: Smith: Ah, good... got the cash? 75,000 gp to add the effect; I'll have to send it off, should be back in an hour or so.
(1) GM: Smith: Can't do the druidic spells myself.
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (So I'm thinking either a half-celestial Fighter/Kensai or a large half-dragon Fighter/Kensai.)
** (2) Kibin goes digging in his bag, for an amulet of natural armor +4, those couple of claw sheaths he got from long back, and the sword of subtely. "Could I sell these to help pay for it?" **
(1) GM: Smith: Yeah.... trade goods are always welcome; that's what.... apprentice sheaths? And almost a master's amulet of thick skin..... and a Rogue's blade! Yes...
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Except Fighters don't have concentration or diplomacy, so I'd have to wait till level seven.)
(1) GM: Smith: 11,115 for the sword, 16,000 for the amulet, and 2,000 for both claws, I think.
(1) GM: [75000-11115-16000-2000] -> 45885
(2) Kibin: (16,000 for the pair of the claw sheaths, 22,310 for the sword, and 32,000 for the amulet.)
(1) GM: What + were they at?
(2) Kibin: (+2)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Samuri can meet the skill requirements at level 2)
(1) GM: so market value of 16,000, 22310, 32000; half price going back to the store (needs to be tri-wizard certified for resale)
** (2) Kibin says, "I think the sheaths were a little more powerful than that. Next step above, I think?" **
(1) GM: Smith: Ah, so they are....... that's what I get for forgetting to Analyze. These new lenses don't catch everything.
(1) GM: [75000-11115-16000-8000] -> 39885
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (So...Crossbow or basterd sword?)
** (2) Kibin does some math in his head, then takes out 3,988 platnium pieces and 5 gold pieces. **
(1) GM: Smith: Should leave the remainder at just a hair under 40k; 39,885, specifically. That should cover it.
(2) Kibin: About when will it be done?
(1) GM: The smith writes a few things on a pice of parchment, takes the cash, and drops everything except a meaningful portion of the cash down a curious hoop.
(1) GM: Smith: About an hour - should come back the same way. Have a deal going on with a Druid outside of town.
(1) GM: Smith: And he's got one of those newfangled crafting portals - not as good as the guild ones, though.
(2) Kibin: (Okay, so in an hour I have a shiney new amulet?)
(2) Kibin: (Well, amulet with new enchantment at least.)
(1) GM: No, you have a refurbished amulet.
(1) GM: But yes, essentailly.
(2) Kibin: (Whoooo, 43 AC!)_
(2) Kibin: (Anyway, just after Kaylin prepares spells seems like a good stopping point.)
(1) GM: Yeah.....
(2) Kibin: (Enemies now have a 25% less chance to hit me, yay. :)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Is there a maximum encumberance for flying?)
(1) GM: Unless using touch attacks... like Wizards are fond of.
(2) Kibin: (Light.)
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: (Thanks.)
** (7) Kaylin wakes up and groggily waves at Jason, then starts preparing spells for the day **
(2) Kibin: (But you can wear heavy armor if it isn't more than a light load and if you can keep up your minimum movement.)
(1) GM: Depends on method, but yes. Overland Flight, for example, has a note about successfully flying with Medium Encumbrance.
(1) GM: Jason just continues Concentrating on the illusionary chest.
(2) Kibin: (And some have exceptions, such as certain player races.)
(1) GM: Jason: Umm... do you think the blood will set into the floor?
(2) Kibin: (*poofs*)
** (2) Kibin found the F4 macro key **
(2) Kibin: Disconnecting from server...
(2) Kibin (exit): 20:15
(1) GM: Jason: I went ahead and covered that, too, with more floor... a little carpet, basically.....
(1) GM: Well, "see" you in two weeks.
(1) GM:
(3) Eldon Quickfoot: Bye, then.
Game disconnected!
