The Ferengi Alliance is a race of merchants that are dedicated to monetary pursuits. The Ferengi excel at trade and politics but lack the combat capabilities of other races.

Biological Description:
The Ferengi are short humanoids with characteristically large ears. The Ferengi prefer damp, rocky worlds with oxygen-based atmospheres. The average Ferengi is 1.5 meters in height with a mass of 60 kilograms. Ferengi have four-lobed brains and cannot be sensed by most telepathic races. They have extremely sensitive hearing, sharp teeth, but less than average physical strength and display a poor tolerance for adverse climates. The average Ferengi has a lifespan of 125 years.

Society Description:
The Ferengi Alliance is a highly capitalistic society. It is under rule of the Grand Nagus who is selected by the Ferengi Commerce Authority. Ferengi live by the Rules of Acquisition, a compilation of economically successful guidelines. Despite their cunningness, Ferengi regard contracts as the cornerstone of society and breaking one can result in severe fines or imprisonment. Ferengi culture is extremely sexist with males as the only citizens with rights. Females are unable to wear clothing, leave the home, and are treated as commodities. Ferengi are voracious traders and merchants and are constantly seeking out new races to exploit.

General History Description:
The current Ferengi culture was founded by the first Grand Nagus, Gint, over 10,000 years ago. The Ferengi have since expanded their economic endeavors throughout the quadrant establishing trade agreements with almost every culture they have encountered. The Ferengi are generally peaceful and prefer to remain neutral during any conflict including the Dominion War.
