Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.
Session is schedualed for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.

(1) GM: [100d100] -> [87,84,31,8,86,47,64,53,11,9,29,21,44,77,30,97,92,85,23,17,70,89,38,1,59,32,90,45,75,43,41,95,92,91,40,78,97,86,82,71,67,6,11,36,55,96,76,93,61,63,34,66,64,63,100,72,58,58,74,85,88,75,73,43,33,53,42,69,35,39,5,57,93,28,82,98,6,70,80,74,73,65,29,96,31,89,26,77,45,66,25,42,93,62,50,61,80,23,90,74] = (5888)
(2) Kibin (enter): 09:50
(2) Kibin: Yo.
(1) GM: Morning.
(2) Kibin: Afternoon for me. :)
(2) Kibin: Hmmm, not a spectator anymore, should remove that...
(3) Kaylin (enter): 10:02
(1) GM: Morning.
(3) Kaylin: hi! Good morning
(2) Kibin: Yay person.
(1) GM: Back online?
(4) Kibin (enter): 10:09
(4) Kibin: O.o
(2) Kibin (exit): 10:09
(1) GM: On the plus side, probably won't need to reset the router again for a while.
(3) Kaylin (exit): 10:09
(4) Kibin: Lol. :P
(5) Kaylin (enter): 10:13
(1) GM: On the plus side, probably won't need to reset the router again for a while.
(4) Kibin: Wonder if Narf slept late again...
(5) Kaylin: ... I feel sorry for douglas. Just looked up ulcerative colitis :|
(4) Kibin: Hmmm?
(4) Kibin: Ah.
(1) GM: So that leaves Narf.
(4) Kibin: Yeah.
(4) Kibin: Who either thought that it was at 1:00 pacific time, in which he probally slept in... or he forgot about it and slept in.
(4) Kibin: Thus, he's probally asleep right now. :)
(4) Kibin: I guess we'll probally wait 10 minutes more for him.
(4) Kibin: Or... a quick 17th level game with Robert the Barbarian/Dervish? :)
(4) Kibin: Though you don't have complete warrior, and I don't know if there's a write-up of the class on the internet.
** (4) Kibin goes make his half-dragon rogue with a dexterity of 10. **
(4) Kibin: Mmm, power attack sneak attacks for the win.
(4) Kibin: Attribute points are based on hitdice, right?
(1) GM: Hm?
(4) Kibin: An ECL of 10, 7 hitdice and a LA of +3
(1) GM: You get a bonus attribute point to assign every 4th level (4th, 8th, 12th, 16th, 20th) and yes, based on Hit Dice. Normally, the two are interchangeable.... but LA doesn't factor into bonus stat increases - I presume it's taken care of with the stat boosts that usually come with templates.
(4) Kibin: Ah, okay.
(4) Kibin: Making a strength based rogue with stats of 26,10,16,16,10,10. :)
(4) Kibin: Don't think Narf is coming for a while.
(1) GM: Looks like. Well, it's his character that's not currently walking anyway.....
(4) Kibin: True.
Moving to room 'D and D'..

Server Administrator->
Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.
Session is schedualed for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.

(4) Kibin (enter): 10:49
(5) Kaylin (enter): 10:49
(4) Kibin: (What do you think of my strength based rogue idea?)
(1) GM: (The lack of armor proficiencies is liable to burn him with the low dex)
(4) Kibin: (+4 natural armor, though.)
(1) GM: (There's a reason that the various armors are within one or two MaxDex+Armor Bonus = 8)
(1) GM: (But yes, the natural armor would help.... execpt against those touch attacks.....)
(4) Kibin: (Yeah, there's that.)
(1) GM: Anyway....
(4) Kibin: (But the rogue would dish out lots of damage.)
(4) Kibin: (Mmm, two-handed bastard sword sneak attack. :)
(1) GM: When we last left our heros, Eldon's clay was lying in a pool of blood, watched over by Jason, and everyone else was resting up in the secretly bloody room.
(4) Kibin: (And I just finished shopping.)
(1) GM: There's a knock at the door.
** (5) Kaylin gets up and goes to the door **
(5) Kaylin: Yes? Can I help you?
(1) GM: You hear a feminine voice: "Anyone interested in some breakfast?"
(1) GM: Voice: We have sausage, eggs, and hashbrowns, plus some fresh milk.
** (4) Kibin comes back to the room where everyone else is staying at after he gets the amulet back. **
(5) Kaylin: Could you leave it outside the door, please? I'm not quite decent for company yet.
(1) GM: Voice: Certainly. Had a fun night, I take it? Congratulations.
(1) GM: You hear the klunk of some plates on the ground.
(5) Kaylin: Erm, you misinterpret, I hope. Thank you anyways, though.
(4) Kibin: (Yeah, we killed a demon and got that nice treasure chest of treasure...)
(4) Kibin: (Well. Nearly killed it.)
** (5) Kaylin waits for a few minutes before opening the door and looking at the hallway **
(1) GM: The hallway is clear, and you see several clay plates and cups with milk, eggs, sausage, and hashbrowns. Smells rather nice.
(1) GM: The hallway itself is slightly cramped, and lit with what appears to be oil lamps every so often, haning form the cieling.
(1) GM: The walls are slightly rough hewen wood.
** (5) Kaylin hauls them in and takes them over to the living area of the room **
(1) GM: Jason: So, what now? Cleanup, I imagine....
(5) Kaylin: This room is very untidy, isn't it...
(1) GM: Jason: Yeah. The Image helps, but the floor is probably still sticky.
** (4) Kibin lets Kaylin take care of that, and asks, "What are we going to do with Eldon's body? Don't think we need all of it..." **
(5) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Prestiditation ( level 0, "Performs minor tricks." )
** (5) Kaylin spends the next while directing prestidigation to clean up the room **
(1) GM: Jason: Kibin, got your portable hole handy? Oh, and Kaylin - I probably should have asked this last night, but do you happen to have a Gentle Repose or something in your book?
(5) Kaylin: I'm sorry, I don't.
** (4) Kibin says to Jason, "Yeah, it's here around my neck like always." He takes it out and asks Elorin, "Don't we need just a piece of the body, like when Kaylin was disintergrated?" **
(1) GM: Jason: I have a thing about respect for the dead.
** (4) Kibin shrugs, and puts Eldon's body in a corner of the portable hole away from the gold and other items, then flies back out and folds it up. **
** (5) Kaylin finishes up cleaning the room **
(1) GM: So you leave a nice, tidy room behind.
(5) Kaylin: Thank you, Jason, for using that illusion all night.
(1) GM: Jason: Well, it's just a first level spell. I haven't done much casting anyway.
(1) GM: Jason casts a quick spell.
(5) Kaylin: It's good to keep in practice. Now, shall we see about contacting Eldon's spirit?
whispering to Kaylin, Extended Mage Armor.
(1) GM: Jason: Sounds like a plan.
(5) Kaylin: What about "We may try to resurrect you but it would weaken you. Should we continue or are you happy now?" as a message?
(5) Kaylin: Seems to cover the situation as I see it.
(4) Kibin: We could get more diamonds.
(5) Kaylin: I do not have enough to pay for any significant amount of gems. Do you?
(1) GM: I should have about sixteen large in the wagon. How much did the nice version take?
(1) GM: Elorin: Twenty-five large.
(1) GM: Jason: Ah.
(1) GM: Jason: I'll just keep saving it up for a ring of X-ray vision, then.
(5) Kaylin: Anyone have any objections to that message now?
(4) Kibin: Not really.
(5) Kaylin: Very well then.
(1) GM: Okay, so a ten minute casting later.....
(5) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Sending ( level 5, "Sends short message anywhere, instantly." )
(4) Kibin: (And a 1 in 20 chance of it not working.)
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [39] = (39)
whispering to Kaylin, A message? What? I'm happy here. Busy, too. Quit distracting me! I have a battle to finish. You wouldn't belive what I am facing right-"
** (5) Kaylin chuckles a little **
(5) Kaylin: Sounds like he's found his ideal life - er, afterlife.
(4) Kibin: So, we just leave him there?
(5) Kaylin: He said specifically "Quit distracting me", so I gather he would rather stay where he is.
(1) GM: Jason: So, back to his hometown, to see if he has any relatives with specific funerary arrangements?
(5) Kaylin: That seems like the best idea.
** (5) Kaylin pulls together a mental image of the town where Eldon joined the party **
(1) GM: Jason calls over his bird, and hops in, then hops up onto Kaylin's shoulder.
(5) Kaylin: Everyone ready?
** (4) Kibin gets ready for teleporting, and nods. **
(1) GM: Choice of spell?
(5) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Greater Teleport ( level 7, "Teleports without error." )
(1) GM: And you find yourselves in a robust, economically healthy, fortified city.
(1) GM: The streets are even cobblestone, the place is clean. People are cherrily going about their business.
(1) GM: The seem to like the little red fruits they're snacking on.
(5) Kaylin: If I remember correctly, he was at the court of the king. Perhaps we should visit there?
(5) Kaylin: (hehe)
** (4) Kibin says, "Sure." He looks around, watching the various people snacking on little red fruits. **
(5) Kaylin: Lot of cherries around here... maybe it's a regional specialty.
** (5) Kaylin starts going towards the kingly place **
(1) GM: After a bit of walking, you come to the castle gate. A guard calls out: "Who goes there?" in a commanding voice as you apporach.
** (5) Kaylin shouts back "Travellers bearing news of Eldon Quickfoot!" **
(4) Kibin: (Did you know that apparently in medival days, only royalty had last names?)
(1) GM: Guard: I'll send for Samantha Quickfoot.
(5) Kaylin: Thank you!
(1) GM: (Depending on region, people were known by their profession, or their father's profession, or their mother's profession (profession was often inherited) or their parent's names - so it would be Joan Smith, or Joan Weaver, or Joan John's Son, or.....)
** (4) Kibin hmmms, wondering who Samantha Quickfoot is. **
(1) GM: After a time, a small, elderly, female halfling in a maid's outfit steps outside the gate.
(1) GM: Woman: You have news of my grandson?
(5) Kaylin: We do.
(6) Eldon Quickfoot (enter): 11:38
(4) Kibin: (Welcome.)
(5) Kaylin: (Perfect timing)
(6) Eldon Quickfoot: (Thanks.)
(1) GM: (morning).
(5) Kaylin: (we're talking to Eldon's grandmother)
(4) Kibin: (Might want to change your name now?)
(1) GM: Woman: I know the king declaired his service over; is he well?
(5) Kaylin: As you may know, Eldon joined our group recently, to travel and see more of the worlds we live in.
(6) Who?: (Still not sure what level my character is supposed to be.)
(1) GM: 17.
(5) Kaylin: We visited many strange places and foreign lands, but woefully, we were beset upon by demonic fiends last night.
(6) Who?: (Ok, thanks.)
(5) Kaylin: Though he fought most valiantly, combined we were unable to stop the attackers.
(5) Kaylin: I am truly sorry.
(4) Kibin: (Who's going to join us soon. :)
(5) Kaylin: We contacted his eternal spirit only minutes ago - he is now happily on a plane of existence we ourselves have been to, and wished to remain there in contentment.
(5) Kaylin: We brought his material body here, seeing that he might receive a proper burial on this plane and that his loved ones might not be anxious, as he himself wished for you to be informed.
(1) GM: The old woman closes her eyes for a minute.
(1) GM: Samantha: I see. Yes, that's good. Too many of my sons couldn't be buried. At least I'll have somewhere to remind me of Eldon.
(4) Kibin: Is there someplace where you'd like me to place his body?
(1) GM: Samantha: Yes.... Jordan?
(6) Who?: (Current XP?)
(1) GM: A strapping young human comes out from behind the gate; with the dirt on his hands and clothes, he would seem to be a gardener. The hand trowel he's carrying reinforces the impression.
(1) GM: (Eldon's at time of death - 17,000 + 2,000)
(1) GM: Samatha: Be a dear and fetch the wheelbarow; I have a funeral to arrange, and I've imposed on these nice youngun's enough.
(1) GM: The man, on seeing the pain in the old woman's eyes, looks down, then quietly fetches a wheelbarrow.
(6) Katsuro: (Thanks.)
(1) GM: Samantha: I can take care of him from here. *Sigh* I've had enough experience burying blood.
** (4) Kibin folds out the portable hole, and gently takes out Eldon's body for Samantha to take care of. **
** (5) Kaylin bows **
(6) Katsuro: (Er, 136,000 + 19,000 XP puts him at level 18.
(6) Katsuro: * )
(5) Kaylin: Shall we depart then? I would not wish to intrude upon you at this time.
(1) GM: Smantha, showing more strength than a woman of her age should be able to manage, carefully and lovingly lifts the body, setting it gently in the wheelbarrow. She then takes it herself, nods, and takes the set around a wall.
(4) Kibin: (It's your XP at the time you died, minus 17,000, plus 2,000.)
(1) GM: (so a net -15,000 xp)
(6) Katsuro: (Ah, thanks. Not too sure what that was, though.)
(1) GM: Oh, and you do get the XP for defeating the demon that killed you, as you were there when the battle started.
(1) GM: Jordan: She'll... be okay. She's been through this a time or two before. Eventually.
(1) GM: Jordan: He'll be missed.
(5) Kaylin: By us as well.
(1) GM: Jordan then also walks back into the castle.
(6) Katsuro: (Take one-third of the XP to the next level?)
** (4) Kibin folds the hole back up and places it in the pouch around his neck, then. **
(1) GM: (numeric adding and subtracting; remove 17,000 xp for dying, add 2000 xp for the vote, 1350 for the beast)
(4) Kibin: (I think he means he's not sure what his XP total was when he died.)
(6) Katsuro: (Yeah.)
(6) Katsuro: (I kept on meaning to add it up...)
(4) Kibin: (Hehe. I just had an image of the strength-based rogue I was making tearing someones spine out from their body and whacking them with it, like in Mortal Kombat.)
(1) GM: (Ah. Then just start at the minimum for 17th and add 3,350 for the vote and beast; simpler)
(6) Katsuro: (Ok, thanks.)
(4) Kibin: So what was next after that?
(6) Katsuro: (It was 32 points, right?)
(1) GM: Yeah, I think so.
(4) Kibin: (Yup.)
(4) Kibin: (*pokes people with plans*)
(1) GM: Jason: So.... what next? Should we try for that Wizard again?
(1) GM: Jason: Possibly see about the pool of blood under the town? I can't see how that's any good.
(4) Kibin: Trying for the wizard is what I thought we would be doing.
(5) Kaylin: We should try to stay mentally occupied.
(4) Kibin: Why?
whispering to Katsuro, Got a character background?
(5) Kaylin: For me, out of habit. For all, grief is not helpful to concentration.
(4) Kibin: We could have ressurected him just fine, he just didn't want to be?
(5) Kaylin: He's still not with us. Well, everyone has their own approaches to separation...
(4) Kibin: And if you know what plane he's on, we could visit him at any time.
(6) Katsuro (whispering): Not yet.
(5) Kaylin: Could be. The image of his body on the ground though...
** (5) Kaylin shudders a bit **
whispering to Katsuro, Okay, that makes introductions a little trickier..... hmm.... do you have an alignment selected?
(6) Katsuro (whispering): Kensai have to be lawfull, so lawfull good.
(5) Kaylin: (how are we getting Narf's new character in?)
(6) Katsuro (whispering): He could be on an oath quest to destroy what'ser name - The demon or whatever that wants to be a goddess...
whispering to Katsuro, could definately work... was doing some history work and noticed a few towns that simply died up after Shanhara's minions came to town, or discovered the child sacrifice thing....
(6) Katsuro: [17d10+34] -> [3,4,1,10,5,5,6,2,8,7,6,7,6,1,10,3,4,34] = (122)
(4) Kibin: (First hitdice is always max.)
(6) Katsuro: [129, then, with maxed first die.)
(4) Kibin: (Yeah.)
(4) Kibin: (Doesn't compare to my 176 HP, though. x.x)
(1) GM: (yeah, you're also three levels ahead..... and probably have a better effective Con score)
(6) Katsuro: (No magic boosts yet. :D )
(4) Kibin: (Ah.)
(1) GM: (a +6 Con item would boost that by 51 HP..... )
(4) Kibin: (Yay, might not have to be the only tank.)
(1) GM: [98+34] -> 132
(6) Katsuro: (So, what should he have on his bow? Signature weapon, max bonus +9)
(1) GM: Rolled 3 HP below average for the character. Not that it matters overly much; 3 hp is not even half a hit at this point.
(6) Katsuro: (I'm thinking Holy to start and an assortment of arrows.)
(6) Katsuro: (Wonder if there's a spell that lets you re-roll HP. Probably have to cost a level to balance.)
(1) GM: Bow: Stuff you want basically always; such as Holy, Seeking, and the like. Arrows: Little things like Bane or special materials that you'll want on occasion.
(1) GM: Distance and Ghost Touch are also decent choices for the bow.
(4) Kibin: (And don't forget you can have a +1 bow and have GMW cast on it. :)
(1) GM: Anyway....
(6) Katsuro: (Does that stack with feats that increase range?)
(1) GM: No.
(1) GM: Jason: So.... care for some Scrying, Kaylin? See if we can find this mystery Wizard.
(4) Kibin: (There's nothing that says it doesn't.)
(5) Kaylin: Certainly. Let's see if he can throw this off...
(4) Kibin: (It's a magical effect, feats are non-magical...)
(5) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Scrying, Greater ( level 7, "Scrying lasts longer, casts quicker, no focus." )
(6) Katsuro: (He already has a feat that increases range and a feat that negates less than total concealment. Add in a see invisibility enchantment and neither of them do much for him.)
(5) Kaylin: (whoa, scrying allows for SR)
whispering to Kaylin, You get an image of a man sitting on a golden chair surrounded by mahogony furniture sipping tea from a golden cup. He seems to be enjoying his time relaxing.
(4) Kibin: (Scrying also allows for someone with an intelligence over 12 to notice the sensor.)
whispering to Kaylin, Oh, and make a Will save.
(5) Kaylin (whispering): [1d20+21] -> [12,21] = (33)
whispering to Kaylin, The image is a fake.... but you can't tell what's supposed to be there.
(5) Kaylin: He's gotten clever... put up a spell that tricks scrying. I can tell it's a fake image, but I'm not sure what actually is there.
(1) GM: Elorin: But the spell itself worked?
(6) Katsuro: (Flaming and Frost? :D)
(5) Kaylin: The spell worked fine, yes.
(6) Katsuro: (With the same command word? :D)
(1) GM: (technically legal to have both, but it takes a standard action to activeate them one at a time; there's no limit on how long they can run, but they do tend to spoil stealth.)
(1) GM: (great for relaxing sore back muscles, though)
(4) Kibin: (You could have both with the same command word, thus activating them both at the same time.)
(6) Katsuro: ( :D )
(4) Kibin: (Uttering a command word is a standard action. There is no rule that says that an uttered command word can only activate one item.)
(1) GM: (No - too much spell stacking potential that way - why yes, I'm putting these three different blasting items on the same command-word. This lets me zap my opponent three times with one standard action! Tell me, do you want NPC's doing this?)
(4) Kibin: (Don't some NPCs already use flaming shocking frost swords?)
(6) Katsuro: (Er, no.)
(1) GM: (Not at present; okay then)
(1) GM: Elorin: So.....
Elorin casts Discern Location ( level 8, "Reveals exact location of creature or object." )
Elorin can cast Discern Location 98 more times
Elorin casts Level 8 Spell ( level 8, "Spell slot tracking device" )
Elorin can cast Level 8 Spell 4 more times
(5) Kaylin: I really need to learn that.
(4) Kibin: (And you can! For 8 easy payments of 50 gold pieces each!)
(1) GM: Elorin: Eh, we can collaberate on a scroll later. Strange though.... he's at The Blood Pool, it uses the singular, but it's a different continent.....again, underground. Very odd......
(1) GM: Elorin: This plane, at least; continent is called Vorinjas by the natives to the area.
(5) Kaylin: That's the same as the one in the prison-area?
whispering to Kaylin, Knoweledge(Georgraphy)?
(5) Kaylin: Knowledge: Geography Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [12,16] = (28)
(1) GM: Elorin: Nah, different one. Very odd.
whispering to Kaylin, More of a large island than a continent, in the south sea. About 1,500 miles, as the mole burrows.
whispering to Kaylin, Assuming a mole would burrow through the ocean.....
(4) Kibin: Did we ever figure out what continent the last 'blood pool' was at?
(5) Kaylin: Vorinjas is a large island about 1500 miles from here...
(1) GM: Jason: It was just under that one town. Not all that far away.
(4) Kibin: Ah.
(5) Kaylin: All of this wizard's actions seem to have a blood pool theme...
(4) Kibin: So do we teleport over there now?
(6) Katsuro: (Let's see...Strength-boosting items, power surge...What do you think of an enchantment that lets a character add all of his strength bonus to a bow?)
(4) Kibin: (Polymorph. :)
(5) Kaylin: Elorin, was he near the Pool or in it? What did the spell reveal?
(1) GM: (Well, you're basically looking at a Composite Longbow with a variable strength bonus. Call it, oh, about a +2 Equivalent; you'll get more out of the +2 than you would out of a +2 Enhancement, but it also costs more with uses of per-day class abilities and supporting buffing items.)
(1) GM: Elorin: On it. Strange, as I said.
(5) Kaylin: On? That really is quite strange.
(4) Kibin: Couldn't a water walking spell or something like that do that?
(1) GM: Elorin: As could a boat, yes. Hmm.... what was the scry-fooling of?
(4) Kibin: Ah yes, a boat. Forgot about that.
(5) Kaylin: Showed a man sitting on a golden chair sipping tea. Cup was made of gold, there was expensive furniture all around.
(5) Kaylin: Seemed to be relaxing.
(1) GM: Jason: How many people, do you think, see that and just pop in, unprepared for a lake of blood?
whispering to Katsuro, Listen check?
(6) Katsuro: Listen Skill Check: [1d20+2] -> [5,2] = (7)
(5) Kaylin: I'd imagine anyone seeing the image and not being able to realise it is a fake would jump at the opportunity to take advantage of his seeming vulnerability
whispering to Katsuro, nearby, you hear the mention of the lake of blood.....
(6) Katsuro: (Let's see...+2 base, +3 Belt of Giant Strength, +4 Power Surge...[2.0+3.0+4.0] -> 9.0/[(7.0+7.0)/2.0] -> 7.0
(6) Katsuro: (Let's see...+2 base, +3 Belt of Giant Strength, +4 Power Surge...[(2.0+3.0+4.0)/((7.0+7.0)/2.0)] -> 1.28571428571
(6) Katsuro: "Hey, did you say 'lake of blood'? Wouldn't happen to be talking about a wanna-be goddess, would you? Because I'm planning on killing her."
** (5) Kaylin turns to look at whoever just spoke **
** (4) Kibin does likewise. **
(4) Kibin: (Wait, was that sorcerer male or female?)
(1) GM: Which Sorcerer?
(6) Katsuro: (You see an archer from the far east, with a cheerfull countanance and a magical bow.)
(1) GM: There have been a couple.
(6) Katsuro: (Havn't really finalized his appearance.)
(4) Kibin: (The one that made the cleric.)
(4) Kibin: (Human archer, I guess?)
(6) Katsuro: (Yep, human, about thirty.)
(1) GM: Male, and a spellcaster - spellcasting method unspecified at this time.
(6) Katsuro: (Belt of Giant Strength, Bracers of Armor, Amulet of Health? or Natural Armor? Would that stack?)
(4) Kibin: (hmmm?)
(6) Katsuro: (Buying magical items.)
(4) Kibin: (Yes, it would stack? They're all different effects?)
(6) Katsuro: (Thanks.)
(1) GM: (Belt of Giant Strength is Enhancement bonus (to strength), Bracers of Armor are an Armor bonus, Amulet of Health is an Enchanment bonus (to Con), Amulet of Natural Armor is an Enhancement Bonus to Natural Armor. They all stack with each other, other than the little nifty that two fo those are in the amulet slot....)
(4) Kibin: (Giant strength gives you strength. Bracers of Armor give you a force armor effect. Health gives you a constitution benefit. Amulet of natural armor gives a natural armor bonus.)
(4) Kibin: (I have five AC increasing effects on me at the moment, for example, and they all stack.)
(6) Katsuro: (I put question makes because I'm not sure which to get.)
(1) GM: For a 50% surcharge, you can add one to the other.
(1) GM: Second effect costs an extra 50% over and above the market price of the effect.
(4) Kibin: (Yup. Which is why I have an periapt of wisdom, an amulet of health, and an amulet of natural armor.)
(1) GM: Jason: Why yes.... a wannabe goddess is what we've been discussing. Very annoying servants she has.
** (5) Kaylin watches this archer curiously **
(6) Katsuro: (Just a minute)
(6) Katsuro: (Does it cost more if you add enchantments later?
(6) Katsuro: * )
(4) Kibin: (XP, yeah?)
(4) Kibin: (Oh, items.)
(6) Katsuro: (No, I mean does it cost more gp to add enchantments later than to do that now?)
(4) Kibin: (Putting an effect on an already magical item is still 1.5, I think.)
(6) Katsuro: (Ok, thanks.)
(1) GM: For slotted items, yes; armor and weapon enhancements already have that type of thing figured in - either the base enchantment is listed for +50% over guidelines (as in the case of energy resistences) or it's using a +X version, which scales by the square.
(6) Katsuro: (Tome of Gainfull Exercise?)
(1) GM: increasing an existing enchantment (e.g., Amulet of Con +4 to Amulet of Con +6) incurres no penalty.
(1) GM: (Pricy, but available in the economy)
(6) Katsuro: (So, it's always x1.5 for each new enchantment?)
(4) Kibin: (Yeah, the helm of brilliance for example has 7 different abilities.)
(1) GM: Altering an Amulet of Health +4 to an Amulet of Health +4 and Wisdom +4 would cost 24,000 gp (16,000 for the Wisdom, +50% for it being a second ability) but changing an amulet of health +4 to an amulet of health +6 would cost only 20,000 (difference between the 16,000 amulet of health +4 and the 36000 amulet of health +6)
(6) Katsuro: (Thanks.)
(1) GM: And it's not always - there's a clause that if they're related (e.g., you can't benefit from both at the same time) there's a discount. Staves are priced that way.
(6) Katsuro: (Manual of gainfull exercise +4, I think. +5 wouldn't benifit him.)
(4) Kibin: (But what if you get another ability point? :)
(1) GM: So an amulet of Boyancy and Water Breathing would get a discount - if you're boyant, you're not underwater, if you're underwater, you're not boyant.
(6) Katsuro: (Got a point there, Kibin.)
(1) GM: With that kind of thing, the pricing is: Full for the most expensive ability, 75% of the second most expensive ability, 50% of the rest of the abilities.... but to be related, they have to have some catch that you can't benefit from both at the same time - like a stave having 50 charges - well, you can cast Fireball 50 times, or Lightning bolt 50 times, but you're still imited to 50 total castings, so it's not worth quite as much as a 50-charge Staff of Fireballs added to the cost of a 50 charge Staff of Lightning Bolts. If that makes sense.
(6) Katsuro: (Got 51,800 left. Arrows, I suppose.)
(6) Katsuro: (Thanks.)
(4) Kibin: (Don't forget to use nifty bane arrows that even break epic enchantments. :D
(1) GM: That's Epic DR, and then, only against what it's a bane to.
(4) Kibin: (Epic DR I mean. And yeah.)
(4) Kibin: (But +1 bane arrows are pretty cheap.)
(4) Kibin: (So you could have arrows for every single creature in existance.)
(6) Katsuro: (So, how is the cost split for arrows?)
(4) Kibin: (For ammunition, you enchant 50 at a time.)
(4) Kibin: (50 +1 bane arrows is the same price as a +1 flaming bow.)
(6) Katsuro: (Ok, thanks. So 8,000gp?)
(1) GM: "This price is for 50 arrows, crossbow bolts, or sling bullets." So 50 +10 arrows would cost 200,000 gp, + the cost of the masterwork arrows (350 gp or so); one would cost a 50th of that, or 4,007 gp.
(6) Katsuro: (8,350gp.)
(1) GM: Meh, stupid math.
(1) GM: Oh, wait - other aspect. Oopse.
(1) GM: Anyway..... game on?
(4) Kibin: (So you could have a set of arrows for the REALLY hard battles, that have +23 worth of enchantments, for 400,000 GP including the bow.)
(4) Kibin: (And a friend with greater magic weapon.)
(4) Kibin: (Mmm, overkill.)
(1) GM: Pretty much. And you'd be liable to be out of those arrows in ten rounds or less.
(4) Kibin: (Flaming burst shocking burst frost burst vicious speed distance *continue on for a while* +5 arrows.)
(1) GM: (And then you find out about the stupid Wind wall spell...... the hard way)
(4) Kibin: (Lol.)
(4) Kibin: (Then you find about firing telephone poles from a bow. :)
(6) Katsuro: "Yeah, pernicious little monsters. They don't seem to want to die."
(6) Katsuro: (What does adamantine cost? Can't seem to find it.)
(4) Kibin: (Which... is actually a pretty good use of shrink item 'cheese'. Huh.)
(1) GM: Special Materials is where you'll find it.
(4) Kibin: (+60 for each arrow, +5000 for light armor, +10000 for medium armor, +15000 for heavy armor, +3000 for a weapon, +2000 for a shield.
(4) Kibin: (Oddly enough, doesn't an adamantine shield bash go through adamantine DR?
(1) GM: Technically. Although what you want is an adamantine shield spike.....but the DR from adamantine armor is of type /-, so.....
(6) Katsuro: (Thanks.)
(1) GM: Treat it as a weapon anyway, as there's no adamantine entry for shields.
(4) Kibin: (Oddly enough, adamantine weapons don't break through adamantine armor. :S)
(4) Kibin: (And adamantine weapons can't break other adamantine weapons. Hmmm.)
(1) GM: (they can, they just have to deal with the full hardness 20)
(4) Kibin: (Well, without a strength over 4 or so.)
(1) GM: Oh... and don't forget a backup weapon or two or three.....
(4) Kibin: (And no power attacks.)
(4) Kibin: (Never really got the point of backup weapons. Just a waste of your resources.)
(1) GM: If you've got a strength of 4, why are you holding a weapon?
(4) Kibin: ( mean strength bonus.)
(4) Kibin: (And earlier down the levels, Kibin had a strength of 6 and held a weapon. :P)
(1) GM: (DR penetration, Disarm, Sunder, range differences, inability to use two-handed weapons during a grapple......)
(6) Katsuro: (50 +1 Bane (Outsiders, Evil), 50 +1 Bane (Undead), 50 +1 Adamantine.)
(1) GM: Skip the +1 on the Adamantine... it's kinda useless.
(4) Kibin: (Yeah, agreed.)
(6) Katsuro: (I thought arrows needed a +1 to use the bow enchantments?)
(4) Kibin: (Since the enchantment bonus from the bow goes to the arrows. Nope...)
(4) Kibin: (How do you think Elorin's infinite non-magical arrows do anything at all?)
(1) GM: No, they get it from the bow. Skipping the +1 for the adamantine arrows lets you take some Cold Iron arrows as well.
(1) GM: As well as alchemical silver.
(6) Katsuro: (So an ordinary arrow takes on the bows' properties?)
(1) GM: Yep.
(6) Katsuro: (Cool, thanks.)
(4) Kibin: (Mmm, popsicles.)
(6) Katsuro: (Also, the bane arrows are adamantine.)
(1) GM: (I suppose that is what you get if you impale a Simulacrum.....)
(6) Katsuro: (So, ~25,000gp. I'm ready to go.)
(4) Kibin: (Don't forget that 50 adamantine arrows cost an extra 3000)
(1) GM: Jason: They aren't getting back up... they're getting remade. Near as we can tell, anyway - have they been melting into puddles for you, too?
(6) Katsuro: "I've been fighting clones? That explains a lot, actually."
(4) Kibin: More like snow statues or something.
(6) Katsuro: "Guess I picked up these undead-killing arrows for nothing."
(5) Kaylin: Technically, they're the results of the Simulacrum spell.
(1) GM: Jason: Umm... yeah... you mind putting those away?
(5) Kaylin: I suggest we find somewhere to sit and exchange information.
(6) Katsuro: "Er, sorry about that. You aren't evil, are you?"
** (6) Katsuro covers up the bane arrows with the cap on the quiver. **
(5) Kaylin: muahahaha... no, not particularly evil.
(1) GM: Jason: Not last I checked. Been awhile since anyone else did, either. Hard to say.
(6) Katsuro: "Good, neither am I. Although there's a guy about a day back who wouldn't back me up. Something about threatening his valuables when he thought that he could rob me..."
(1) GM: Jason: So, was he gracious enough to donate some of his things for you as compensation for thinking you were a good target for a robbery?
(6) Katsuro: "Oh, I wasn't threatening those valuables..."
(1) GM: Jason: Ah, so little things like his heart, lungs, entrails.....
(6) Katsuro: "I feel it is always best to be direct and too the point...And I think he might just give up robbing..."
(6) Katsuro: "So, in that spirit, I threatened his lower valuables."
(6) Katsuro: (Testing...)
(5) Kaylin: Interesting lesson... I'd be fascinated to hear about what you've been doing about this would-be goddess.
(6) Katsuro: Imbued Longbow, composite +5, Holy, Strong Attack Roll: [1d20+24] -> [7,24] = (31) ===> Damage: [1d8+5+2d6+7+0] -> [2,5,2,1,7,0] = (17)

(1) GM: Jason: Well, all's well that ends well. You're here, he's reconsidering his career choices. Sounds fair.
(6) Katsuro: (I'd be fascnited to know what he's been doing, too. No background yet; I'd have to clear it with the GM.)
(5) Kaylin: (ah)
(5) Kaylin: (dang, hoping for free info :P)
(6) Katsuro: (Testing Power Surge...)
(6) Katsuro: (Hmm, doesn't want to work...Anyone mind if I log in and out to try to get it to work?)
whispering to Katsuro, Text so far implies that the cleric wasn't the only one - he maybe has been taking out various other spots where the same thing was happening, and researching things for other locations... suddenly stopped wars and the like.
(1) GM: That wouldn't likely cause it.
(6) Katsuro: (I'll just go with a generic...
** (6) Katsuro tells of his recent travels, killing off a few evil clerics (None as strong as the one you fought) and researching suddenly stopped wars - Including dumping a confused moment when he thought a cleric was evil, the cleric thought he was a scribe and the paladin bodyguard was sure he was an assasin. **
(6) Katsuro: * Dumping? where did that come from?
(6) Katsuro: * ( )
(1) GM: If you haven't noticed, the bar at the bottom of your screen where you type things in tries to finish up the words as you're typing - so if you've typed out Shanhara before, typing just the Sha portion is laible to have it set up the rest.
(5) Kaylin: You've been busy, I see...
(5) Kaylin: Why did you get involved against this Shanhara, if you don't mind my asking?
(1) GM: Although it auto-selects the stuff it adds, so your next keystroke normally deletes it in favor of what you typed. If you hit the arrow keys in the meanwhile, however.....
(6) Katsuro: ("Well, I didn't get to level 17 by sleeping.")
(6) Katsuro: "Saw a town after she was done with it. Nobody even had the energy to eat. Half of them had already died of starvation. Seemed like a good cause."
(4) Kibin: (Perfectly reasonable for some classes like sorcerer. "Well, I just woke up one day, being able to fling great balls of fire at people...")
(5) Kaylin: (the starting money isn't so easy to explain, though)
(1) GM: (Well, it happened the same day his old adventurin uncle died....)
(5) Kaylin: I think we agree with you that it's a good cause.
(6) Katsuro: Imbued Longbow, composite +5, Holy, Strong, Power Surge Attack Roll: [1d20+24] -> [9,24] = (33) ===> Damage: [1d8+5+2d6+11+0] -> [5,5,3,1,11,0] = (25)
(6) Katsuro: Imbued Longbow, composite +5, Holy, Strong, Power Surge Attack Roll: [1d20+19] -> [17,19] = (36) ===> Damage: [1d8+5+2d6+11+0] -> [1,5,1,3,11,0] = (21)
(6) Katsuro: Imbued Longbow, composite +5, Holy, Strong, Power Surge Attack Roll: [1d20+14] -> [17,14] = (31) ===> Damage: [1d8+5+2d6+11+0] -> [8,5,1,4,11,0] = (29)
(6) Katsuro: (Test)
(4) Kibin: (Hehe. Yeah, another good idea. Blame your fighting ability on your uncle.)
(6) Katsuro: (Saved the file, deleted the file, reloaded the file.)
(4) Kibin: (Like your uncle is your guardian angel or something.)
(6) Katsuro: (Could be...No background yet.)
(1) GM: Jason: Well, we were going to see about surprising the guy who was busily repairing one of the clerics.
(1) GM: Jason: We had interrupted him and finished off the ice guy, but there's not telling what he's been up to.
(6) Katsuro: "Scrying not working?"
(4) Kibin: (Wonder what would happen if you somehow used greater spell immunity on temporal acceleration...
(4) Kibin: Illusion over him.
(6) Katsuro: "Isn't there some sort of spell to see through those?"
(4) Kibin: We see him just lounging around on a golden chair drinking from a golden cup... but in actuality he's on a boat or something like that floating over a lake of blood.
(1) GM: (Personal power - no SR; Greater Spell Immunity gives effectively unbeatable SR - which doesn't apply)
whispering to Katsuro, You've seen places where there could have been lakes.... but by the time you got there, there weren't any anymore.....
(4) Kibin: (Aw.)
whispering to Katsuro, usually in underground caverns, with some kind of big chunk of rock broken on the ground in the middle.
(6) Katsuro: "Those things have a habit of disapearing. The lakes, I mean, not the boats. Although the boats tend to disapear with the lakes...Excuse me a moment, my tongue got ahead of my brain."
(5) Kaylin: Disappearing?
(6) Katsuro: "Yeah - With a big, broken chunk of rock left behind."
(5) Kaylin: I don't quite follow your meaning.
(6) Katsuro: (Excuse me a moment while I ask the GM...)
whispering to Katsuro, Dry lake beds underground, smelling of blood; nothing that looks like it would have been an island, but large slabs of broken rock in the middle, as though they had fallen a great distance and shattered. No evidence of anything having lived - ever - in the dry lake beds, though.
(6) Katsuro (whispering): Do you mean he saw the lake of blood from a distance, but it disapeared before he got there, or do you mean he was exploring after he killed a cleric and found a place where a lake of blood had been?
whispering to Katsuro, Option the 2nd.
(6) Katsuro: "Yeah, dry lake beds, dried blood, big chunks of broken rock in the middle - Like they had fallen."
(6) Katsuro: (Scuse the slight re-write...)
(6) Katsuro: "Dead, too, although that's not suprising."
(4) Kibin: So... the cleric or wizard or whatever just moves on?
(4) Kibin: When the population of the city is drained.
(5) Kaylin (whispering): What kind of knowledge check would be most appropriate for general information on this Blood Pool?
whispering to Kaylin, The planes, I think.
whispering to Kaylin, Possibly Dungeoneering.
(5) Kaylin (whispering): Knowledge(Planes): [1d20+21] -> [13,21] = (34)
(6) Katsuro: "I'm not sure - I didn't really know what was happening at the first town I found - Couldn't say if one was still around. I investigated, found a name - 'Shanhara', and swore an oath. After which, I alerted the local legitimate temple and went a-questing."
(4) Kibin: (Test.)
(4) Kibin: (Test again.)
(6) Katsuro: (GM?)
(1) GM: (feeling a little faint?)
whispering to Katsuro, Sounds good.
(4) Kibin: (No, just trying to get the right color back again.)
(6) Katsuro: (Thanks.)
(4) Kibin: (Sweet, are you a 10th level kensai?)
(6) Katsuro: (8th Fighter, 9th Kensai.)
(4) Kibin: (Aw.)
(6) Katsuro: (Wanted Greater Weapon Focus...Should add that...)
whispering to Kaylin, You've heard stories every here and there in some of your studies about lakes from the lower planes that took on a life of their own.... a pretty rare event, though; hard to hurt them when they form.
(4) Kibin: (But at 10th level, you get to be a Ki warlord.)
whispering to Kaylin, Tend to have abilities based on the blood that formed them; most often they end up with various Demonic powers. Theoretically, one might go hunting for more abilities.....
(6) Katsuro: (Would be a little cheesy to start off that way...)
(4) Kibin: (Anyway... maybe. Heh.)
(5) Kaylin: I'm beginning to believe that the Blood Pool our wizard is at is the core of all these Shanhara problems, or closely connected.
(4) Kibin: Maybe we should go back to that city we were at and see what's happened to it?
(6) Katsuro: "You're the wizard - I'm just a porcupine fan."
(5) Kaylin: Do I really look all that obviously wizardly? Well... I guess I do...
(1) GM: Jason (glancing at the bow): See a lot of porcupines, do you?
(4) Kibin: Porcupine fan?
(4) Kibin: Oh.
(6) Katsuro: "Well, I've seen some bad guys that do a good resemblance..."
(5) Kaylin: Well, I think we're going to head back to a city where we fought off a cleric of Shanhara. Do you feel like coming with us, Mr... I'm sorry, what's your name?
(1) GM: Jason: I'd imagine you like some of the accoutriments to sewing as well. Those nifty little things people store needles in.
(6) Katsuro: (What do they store needles in?)
(5) Kaylin: (pincushions)
(6) Katsuro: "Katsuro - And I didn't happen to catch your names..."
(6) Katsuro: (Oh, right, thanks.)
(5) Kaylin: Everyone calls me Kaylin.
(6) Katsuro: "Hey, how'd you guess?" <- To Jason.>
(6) Katsuro: * to Jason.
(4) Kibin: Kibin here.
(6) Katsuro: (Means 'Victorious Son', by the way.)
(1) GM: Jason: Just a simple exercise in seeing things. Call me Jason. It's the name I've gone by for the last... millenia, or so, I think; gets a little hard to judge time.
(6) Katsuro: (Name pages are cool.)
(4) Kibin: (Kibin means agile or quick.)
(4) Kibin: (I just flip through a japanese dictionary to get names. Heh.
(6) Katsuro: "I imagine I'd find time a little hard to judge after I've been alive for a millenia.)
(6) Katsuro: * "
(5) Kaylin: Well, now that the introductions are over, shall we be off?
(6) Katsuro: "Or a reasonable resemblance."
(1) GM: Jason: Good idea. Winddancer?
(6) Katsuro: "No offense intended."
(5) Kaylin: Katsuro, I never did catch if you wanted to join us for a bit?
(1) GM: Jason hops back into Winddancer, still on Kaylin's shoulder.
(6) Katsuro: "Yeah, at least untill this Shanhara kicks the bucket."
** (4) Kibin gets ready for teleport as well. **
** (5) Kaylin laughs **
(5) Kaylin: I'll remember that.
(5) Kaylin: Hold on to someone for the teleport, please.
** (6) Katsuro sticks his hand out to Kibin and says "Hi, how do you do?" **
** (4) Kibin shakes hands with Katsuro, replying, "Just fine?" **
(5) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Teleport ( level 5, "Instantly transports you anywhere." )
(1) GM: Familiarity check?
(5) Kaylin: (Back on the shore of the blood lake at that one town)
(5) Kaylin: [1d100] -> [88] = (88)
(5) Kaylin: (jeebus)
(4) Kibin: (And incidentally I provide the conduit for teleportation. Heh.)
(5) Kaylin: (good thing we've been there a few times...)
(6) Katsuro: (Of course.)
(1) GM: "Seen Casually" puts that just barely on target. By one.
(1) GM: 89 would be off target.
(1) GM: You arrive on-target, on a shore of black sand. The lake, and the island in the middle, is gone; there's a thin crust of what appears to be dried blood all over the very, very large hole where the lake used to be.
(1) GM: The place stinks - a lot.
(5) Kaylin: Aand... welcome to where there used to be a lake of blood.
** (4) Kibin asks Kaylin, "I thought we were going to the city above?" **
(6) Katsuro: "Yep, seen this before."
(5) Kaylin: I thought this would be more to the point.
(4) Kibin: Kind of expected from Katsuro's report that this is what we would encounter?
(5) Kaylin: I wanted to verify for myself.
(5) Kaylin: And of course, check to see if this one vanished too...
(4) Kibin: So to the surface now?
(5) Kaylin: Well... now that we've seen this fascinatingly empty and extremely odourous lakebed, I don't see why not.
(6) Katsuro: "Any magic leftovers?
(6) Katsuro: * "
(1) GM: Jason steps out of his familiar.
(5) Kaylin: Jason, would you mind estimating how far up we need to go? I'd rather not use my last Teleport for today just for a little vertical motion.
(1) GM: Oh, I'll take care of it.......
(1) GM: Dimension Door, Level 4: Teleports you short distance
** (4) Kibin goes ahead and cast detect magic before the dimenson door effect goes off. **
(1) GM: Jason shares the spell with his familiar, who brings along the rest of the party.
whispering to Kibin, Will save?
(4) Kibin (whispering): [1d20+18] -> [6,18] = (24)
whispering to Kibin, there's a lot of aura in the area... but that could just be the party member's magic items. Jason doesn't wait for you to take the time for a full reading.
(5) Kaylin: And here's the town...
** (5) Kaylin looks around at the sights **
(1) GM: The town looks like it's gearing up for war. Smiths are quite busy at their forges, making swords, arrows, shields, and assorted armors.
(4) Kibin: There was a lot of magic in that area, but wasn't there long enough to determine where the magic was coming from...
(1) GM: Everyone has a bit of a grim look to them.
** (5) Kaylin smacks her forehead with her palm **
** (5) Kaylin walks over to a smith **
(5) Kaylin: I'm curious why there's so much weaponry being forged... can you tell me why?
(4) Kibin: (*suddenly gets an image of a baptismal of blood.)
(1) GM: Smith: Stupid southerners, harvesting the crops we planted; dang it, the border's four miles south of where they say. We won't last the winter without those. They aren't listening to reason, and I, for one, don't feel like starving.
(5) Kaylin: I see... thank you for your time, I see you must be quite busy.
** (5) Kaylin walks back to the group **
(5) Kaylin: So... they stop being braindead zombies and the first thing they do is go back to killing each other...
(6) Katsuro: "...You sure they stopped?"
(5) Kaylin: Suddenly, not so much.
(6) Katsuro: "Any particular excuse?"
(5) Kaylin: Their neighboring town has decided that the border is 4 miles closer to this one than this one thinks is good, and there's lots of cropland in those 4 miles.
** (4) Kibin casts detect magic again to see if there's any ongoing magic on the people going through the town. **
whispering to Kibin, After a few rounds concentrating, there's only the (very many) auras on the party, and the dim leftovers of fading magics.
(6) Katsuro: "Want to go ask the neighboring town why?"
(4) Kibin: Why what?
whispering to Kibin, Absolutely nothing at all from Ye Olde Shoppe of Maijgickque
(6) Katsuro: "They think the border is four miles closer to this town than this town thinks."
(4) Kibin: Ah. Well, there's no spells on the people here.
(5) Kaylin: Probably would be a good idea... we did remove the controller from these people. Seems like the right thing to do.
(4) Kibin: And.... there's nothing in the magic shop. Huh.
** (5) Kaylin goes back to ask for directions to the south town, to see if we can "talk them out of it" **
(1) GM: Smith: Yeah, sure; the road's straight enough; just head south and you'll find it, sooner or later.
(1) GM: Smith: About two day's march.
(5) Kaylin: Thank you again.
(1) GM: Smith: Take care. Wouldn't want those lying, theiving Southerners killing you.
(5) Kaylin: We will.
(4) Kibin: Have you tried talking to them, seeing if there's some misunderstanding?
(6) Katsuro: (I have to go see if I can help my dad with Autocad - BBS)
(1) GM: Smith: Yeah. We both point at different sets of ancient border stones. They're convinced their's are the ones that are right.
(4) Kibin: Have you considered working out a new border?
(1) GM: Smith: Won't manage the winter without those crops; funny thing... almost nobody was planting overly much this last summer. Don't know why nobody noticed earlier.
(1) GM: Smith: Either way, though, we must have those crops, or a great many of us won't survive.
(4) Kibin: Have you considered trading for them, or something similar like that?
** (5) Kaylin thinks Kibin is aiming to get us killed for being spies... **
(1) GM: The smith looks a bit sorroful for a moment.
(1) GM: Smith: Yes, they're in a similar situation. People will die, one way or another. I'd rather it not be my family and friends, if it's all the same to you.
(4) Kibin: Okay...
(1) GM: Smith: Even if we lose, those that survive are liable to thereafter have enough.... but it's not going to come to that.
(1) GM: Smith: But I do need to finish these..... so if you don't mind overly much....
(1) GM: the smith gets back to his hammering.
(4) Kibin: Kaylin, are you going to teleport us over to that other town?
(6) Katsuro: (Back.)
(5) Kaylin: I've never seen it before. That wouldn't be such a great idea.
(1) GM: Jason: Yes, we're going to teleport
(1) GM: "About" two day's walk south, following the road. Right.
(4) Kibin: (Never let me become a diplomat.)
(5) Kaylin: Thing is... even if we somehow manage to pull of a truce here, there's going to be a lot of starving people.
(6) Katsuro: "Perhaps we could ask around for donations? Clerics are always talking about charity..."
(4) Kibin: Donations?
(6) Katsuro: "Food, money, food..."
(5) Kaylin: Who's going to donate food? There isn't enough here to go around...
(4) Kibin: Oh.
(6) Katsuro: "Temples?"
(4) Kibin: Well, people would still starve.
(6) Katsuro: "Not if the load is spread around. Somebodies gotta have a surplus."
(5) Kaylin: We could try... I suspect they've already investigated local areas, though.
(4) Kibin: Most likely, yes. We would need to transport food here from someplace else.
(4) Kibin: (*imagines a solution involving chain spell metamagic from complete arcane, and baleful polymorph*)
(5) Kaylin: or set up supply caravans...
(4) Kibin: That they would have to pay for somehow.
(1) GM: (turn everyone into field mice that don't eat as much?)
(6) Katsuro: (Polymorph a rabbit into an elephant,. kill the elephant, feed the villagers?)
(4) Kibin: (Yup. :)
(4) Kibin: (The first one. :P)
(6) Katsuro: (Do polymorphed animals stay polymorphed after death?)
(4) Kibin: (Nope.)
(1) GM: (elephant polymorph isn't valid - must be a Tiny critter or something like that - might have been Fine or Diminutive)
(4) Kibin: (It's a small animal.)
(1) GM: (or at least, not valid via Baelful Polymorph)
(4) Kibin: (or smaller. Used to, it would be any small creature, thus you could polymorph people into kobolds or halflings. Or gnomes, lol.)
(4) Kibin: (It used to be valid. An errata forgot to specify the size requirement, or the hitdie requirement. :)
(6) Katsuro: (Create a spell which polymorphs a creature into a larger form; stays the same after death?)
(4) Kibin: (Like Kaylin's spell?)
(6) Katsuro: (Only works on animals?)
(4) Kibin: (Like polymorph any object?)
(4) Kibin: (You could just use stone to flesh on a mountain...)
(4) Kibin: (Huh, actually a cylinder of stone.)
(4) Kibin: (3 feet in diameter, up to 10 feet long.)
(6) Katsuro: (Yeah, stone to flesh on a boulder or something!)
(4) Kibin: (WIZARDS CAN MAKE INSTANT SAUSAGES! :O)
(1) GM: (portion of a mountain - if you try to target the entire mountain, you end up with a cylindrical hole)
(5) Kaylin: (Is said flesh edible? That's quite a lot of food though I doubt it'll keep)
(6) Katsuro: (Ok, now someone wizardly suggest that.)
(6) Katsuro: (Salt and smoke it, it'll keep.)
(6) Katsuro: (At least, too medieval standards.)
(5) Kaylin: (right, medieval.. *drags mind away from refridgeration*)
(4) Kibin: (Gentle repose jars, cost only 15,000 gold!)
(4) Kibin: (Made for my idea of a sorcerer with clones. :)
(5) Kaylin: Well... I could turn quite a lot of rock into .. 'meat'...
(4) Kibin: (...sweet, I can sell my refrigerator to D&D villagers for 15,000 gold.)
(5) Kaylin: It'd be a very dull diet but it'd probably keep them alive if they preserve it.
(1) GM: (And they'll run it on what electricity, no?)
(6) Katsuro: (Generic, mystery meat.)
(4) Kibin: What happened to all of those rings of sustanance from earlier?
(5) Kaylin: We don't have a lot of those, do we?
(4) Kibin: No. But every single person in a certain town did, including travellers to that town.
(6) Katsuro: (When was this?)
(4) Kibin: (It involves pillows.)
(1) GM: (they were for the pillow people of Cliffside)
(4) Kibin: (Pillow people, lol.)
(1) GM: (so they wouldn't starve to death with no mouthes to eat)
(6) Katsuro: (Oh, right.)
(4) Kibin: Does that town need them anymore?
(5) Kaylin: Hmm... that might work, but we'd have to convince them to part with them.
(6) Katsuro: (Stone to flesh sounds easier.)
(4) Kibin: (It also requires a caster to stay here for a while.)
(5) Kaylin: (I can prepare a ton of Stone to Flesh for a burst of casting in one day, and then we can push off the next day...)
(6) Katsuro: (No; salt and smoke the meat. 90^3 feet of meat; should be enough.)
(6) Katsuro: (...Yeah, go with the ton of castings.)
(4) Kibin: (It also requires people to have enough salt to preserve it.)
(5) Kaylin: Well... that's two options. Should we see the town leader about this?
(6) Katsuro: (Drying and smoking will work, possibly long enough. Jerky lasts, even if it isn't particularly chewy.)
(4) Kibin: Starving people here, people not in danger of starving over there, seems reasonable enough...
(5) Kaylin: Fair is fair, we'd have to ensure the other town has enough to eat too.
(6) Katsuro: (Offer both options?)
(4) Kibin: (There's also the problem fof the people here not being carnivores.)
(5) Kaylin: (Yeah... second one, they might have to cough up enough money to pay)
(5) Kaylin: (vegetarian or starve to death? Hmmm....)
(4) Kibin: (They need green stuff.)
(5) Kaylin: (They have some.)
(6) Katsuro: (Yeah, but with meat to stretch the harvest, there should be enough to stave off scurvy.)
(5) Kaylin: (get them both to have lots of meat and then share the harvest)
(6) Katsuro: (Could a Bane weapon have a bonus of +7?)
(4) Kibin: (Yup. Which is why bane weapons break through epic DR.)
(4) Kibin: (And why a level 20 party should always have +5 bane(magical beast) weapons.)
(1) GM: (effectivley, yes; +5 base, the bane property adds +2 on top of that for it's selected opponent; the standard for getting through Epic DR, though, is +4 Bane weapons for a +6 effective when striking the designated foe)
(6) Katsuro: (And arrows get the enhancement bonus of the bow, right?)
(1) GM: (Correct)
(4) Kibin: So...share rings of sustanance between the two of them?
(4) Kibin: Food for the people without the rings?
(6) Katsuro: (So a +5 bow firing +1 bane arrows would be firing +7 bane arrows?)
(5) Kaylin: Let's talk to the mayor first, present the options.
(4) Kibin: Everyone gets through the winter full, their economy suddenly jumps back up after the cleric being here?
(1) GM: (They'd be +5 arrows, +7 vs. the target critter type, +2d6 damage vs. the target critter type)
(6) Katsuro: (Yep, thanks.)
(6) Katsuro: (BRB, gotta do something.)
(4) Kibin: (Helloooooo.)
(1) GM: Greetings.
(4) Kibin: (Talking to Kaylin and the others. :P)
** (5) Kaylin wanders over to another random person **
(5) Kaylin: Do you have a mayor or leader I could talk to?
(1) GM: Random Person: Trurquise bicycle fins actuallise Radishes Greenly
(5) Kaylin: Green radishes... that explains a lot.
(4) Kibin: Um.
(1) GM: Random Person: Oh, sorry, just putting together an argument for my language studies. You could try the cleric in the church; he's usually in his office.
(4) Kibin: Wait...cleric?
(5) Kaylin: Hmm, anyone more official?
(1) GM: Random Person: Well, there's the town council, I suppose, or maybe the mayor. But the Cleric of Shanhara was always the most able to motivate everyone.
(5) Kaylin: A very impassioned speaker, I've heard. Probably best this go through the mayor, though. Where might I find him?
(1) GM: Random Person: Oh, probably out on his farm, about a mile north of town.
(5) Kaylin: Thank you. Good luck with your studies!
** (5) Kaylin wanders back to the group... "The mayor's farm is about a mile north of town. Shall we head there?" **
(1) GM: Jason: Sounds like a plan.
** (5) Kaylin starts walking **
** (4) Kibin takes to the skies, and just flies lazily in circles around the party. **
(1) GM: So after about fifteen minute's walk, you come to a farm with a slightly more ornate house than all those surrounding it. It's got what appears to be stone reinforcement along it's walls, and a shingle roof, rather than thatched. A man sits out on the porch, frowning at the empty rows of ploughed soil.
** (5) Kaylin approaches the man, taking care not to step on the ploughed soil **
(5) Kaylin: Are you the mayor here?
** (4) Kibin lands next to the party once they get to the mayor. **
(1) GM: Mayor: Yeah... don't worry about the soil. For some strange reason, I never got around to planing. Why? I always plant........ this doesn't make sense.......
(5) Kaylin: I know why. It's a long story, but let's get the important business done first.
(1) GM: The man is only slightly tending towards grey hair; he's hardenend from actual farm work, but doesn't appear to be quite as thin as most farmers.
(5) Kaylin: There's going to be starvation come Winter, correct? We can help.
(1) GM: Mayor: Pretty much. Heh. Well, unless you can solve the upcoming war......
(5) Kaylin: Can the war be stopped with a mutual agreement to put the boundary at a common line, and enough food for both towns to survive?
(1) GM: Mayor: *sigh* it's not so simple; I'd just give them that it's theirs and buy the bloodly land myself if they'd sell. I've checked with my mirror; he's basically in the same boat. Neither of us can give up claim, regardless of how, due to the blasted food problem. Either of us could sell it as getting our neighbors to see the light..... it comes back to the food issue, though.
(1) GM: Mayor: How does one go about feeding two towns for months on end when almost nobody planted?
(5) Kaylin: That's something we can take care of.
(5) Kaylin: But... if it's not going to stop the war, there's no point.
(6) Katsuro: (Back.)
(1) GM: Mayor: No, no, I've talked to my mirror; we've actually been over this. If I had enough excess food that I could sell it to him and get his people through the next few seasons, he would surrender the claim on the bloodly land for it. And he could, as the momentary need is based on the starvation issue. You're not from around here, so it's not too bad for me to tell you I'd do the bloody same.
(5) Kaylin: Sounds acceptable.
(5) Kaylin: Here's the situation... there's two options.
(5) Kaylin: I can turn a very large amount of rock into a meat that's edible. Won't be delicious, won't be wonderful, but it'll keep people alive through the winter.
(1) GM: Mayor: I'm listening. Granted, I'm a bit wordy, but that's an occupational hazard. It's a mayor's job to talk. You have to get ... oh...
(5) Kaylin: You'll have to preserve it or it'll go bad.
(5) Kaylin: The other option is we know a place where you can get a lot of magical rings that'll keep people alive without a need for food or water... that's going to cost you a bit. We can haggle, but they're probably not going to part with them for free.
(6) Katsuro: (Need to BRB.)
(4) Kibin: Hmmm, couldn't you craft statues of food and use stone to flesh to make food that tastes good?
(1) GM: Mayor: Could work.... yes... either of us could sell it as trading some of the land that's rightfully ours for foodstocks for the good of the village......
(5) Kaylin: Now, I don't want to take sides in this border dispute.
(1) GM: Mayor: Magical rings? Ah, those sustinence ones. Yeah.... people are going to have a bit of a ... distrust... of majic for a while.
(5) Kaylin: I'm also sure that they'll see the land as rightfully theirs.
(4) Kibin: Guess thats why there's nothing in the magic shop...
(5) Kaylin: Yes... magic is not hugely popular around here, I gather...
(5) Kaylin: I assume that's not going to stop them from seeing the difference between eating and starving, though?
(1) GM: Mayor: I've talked with my mirror. That's just how we'd sell it to our respective towns. Fix the border somewhere in the middle, bring back a few tons of meat - we can do the smoking, trees aren't hard to come by - as long as nobody compares notes.
(6) Katsuro: (Hmm...Minatuar Barbarian Kensai...:D)
(6) Katsuro: (Illusion spell so we look different there than here?)
(4) Kibin: Trees?
(5) Kaylin: Well, that sounds like a plan then.
(1) GM: Mayor: For smoking the meat. Need fire to get smoke, no?
(5) Kaylin: Where would be the best place to convert a lot of rock into meat?
(4) Kibin: Oh. Yeah, probally.
(1) GM: The Mayor grins: You haven't seen the boundry stones we use, have you?
(1) GM: Mayor: We'll have to move at least one set anyway......
(5) Kaylin: Not yet.
** (5) Kaylin grins **
(5) Kaylin: A good solution all around, then.
(4) Kibin: Mmm, who knew history could be so tasty...
(6) Katsuro: (Only Kaylin needs to go; she can make herself look different on each side; that way, if they compare notes, it's a different person helping.)
(6) Katsuro: (Brackets because he has a 10 Int and isn't a spellcaster.)
(1) GM: Mayor: Well, hold on, I'll call up the other mayor.....
(5) Kaylin: (Yep. And hell, I could Shapechange into a different species just for the look...)
(4) Kibin: (I can make myself look different without even knowing how to cast any spells.)
(1) GM: The mayor walks into his house, and a few minutes later, walks back out.
(1) GM: Mayor: All right, the meeting is set up, on the disputed land as usual. Let me go harness up my cart.
(1) GM: The mayor goes out to a barn, and hooks up two very sturdy horses to a wooden wagon.
(1) GM: He then drives it over to the group.
(5) Kaylin: Excellent. A few days of relative relaxation wouldn't be bad for us...
(1) GM: Mayor: All right, as far as my town is concerned, I bought the meat with the land - which means the other town produced it. As far as his town is concerned, he bought the meat with the land, so our town produced it. Unfortunately, this means you'll have to keep quiet about your part. Can you manage that?
(4) Kibin: Kaylin, you'll probally be busy casting spells.
(5) Kaylin: I'm very convinced we can be quiet.
(1) GM: Mayor: Oh, almost forgot....
(5) Kaylin: Kibin, yes, but it won't be in the middle of battle.
(1) GM: The mayor hops down from his wagon, goes into his shed, and pulls out a bunch of long, wicked looking knives, cleavers, and saws.
(1) GM: Mayor: I can't afford to have anyone from the town help me load up the meat, and there's limits to how much I can carry.
(4) Kibin: Irony finds it's way into everything, doesn't it.
(1) GM: Mayor: Yeah. Fortunately, the horses won't talk. They know better by now.
(5) Kaylin: Horses can be quite clever in that way.
(1) GM: Mayor: Well, climb aboard.
** (4) Kibin flies up onto the wagon, and sits down in it. **
(1) GM: With everyone abouard, the mayor heads off, at a painfully slow pace.
** (5) Kaylin hops on and settles in **
** (6) Katsuro climbs aboard. And then sits on a plank. **
(1) GM: After several hours, it gets dark.
(1) GM: Mayor: The one trouble with wagons... they aren't as fast as walking on foot. Well, that's why I schedualed for noon tomorrow.
(6) Katsuro: "Ah, farm carts. Sturdy, reliable, slow as molasses in winter."
(1) GM: Mayor: Nah; molasses is faster.
(5) Kaylin: Reliable is good here.
(5) Kaylin: won't want the wagons breaking with the cargo they'll be carrying.
(4) Kibin: Kaylin, do you haev any wards against scrying?
(5) Kaylin: No... I really should buy a scroll for that soon, though.
(6) Katsuro: "Could be, could be. Is that snail trying to race us?"
(1) GM: Mayor: Oh, this is sturdy enough. It's what the boundary stones were carried on originally.
(4) Kibin: (Me thinks that Kaylin needs to discover the warmage.)
(1) GM: As it gets dark...
(1) GM: Mayor: Well, have to rest the horses.
(5) Kaylin: (dun dun duuuh)
(1) GM: The mayor stops the wagon, unsaddles the horses, and ties them to graze.
(1) GM: All along the way, you saw miles of farmland, gone to weed, and various patches of forest.
(5) Kaylin: So who's going to be on watch in case of ... bandit attacks?
(1) GM: Mayor: Oh, no bandits to worry about on the way in; we aren't carrying much in the way of food, after all.
(1) GM: Mayor: Or any. Drat! So forgetful.....
** (4) Kibin says, "I'll know if someone comes near." **
(5) Kaylin: Never hurts to be safe.
(5) Kaylin: All right.
** (4) Kibin lays down on the grass next to the wagon and starts sleeping. **
(6) Katsuro: "What about a flying someone?"
(1) GM: Mayor: Although if you want to stay up and watch, you're perfectly welcome to do so.
(1) GM: Jason: I think I can handle the scrying......
(1) GM: Mage's Private Sanctum, 5th: Prevents anyone from viewing or scrying an area for 24 hours
(4) Kibin: Katsuro, I'll know if anyone comes within about 60 feet of me.
(1) GM: Nobody inside the wagon, of course, notices any particular differences.....
(1) GM: Jason: And it's been a while since I rested. I'm going to bed.
(1) GM: Jason lies down in the soil.
(4) Kibin: (I'll stay within the sphere too. It should extend a little outside the sanctum.)
(1) GM: Mayor: Umm... okay, I was hoping that was just a trick of the light.......
(1) GM: Mayor: Still....
(5) Kaylin: We're an unusual group.
(4) Kibin: Hoping what was just a trick of the light?
(5) Kaylin: Think of us as angels, if it helps.
(1) GM: Mayor: That it was going through him.
(1) GM: Mayor: Oh well, no matter.
(4) Kibin: (The town members are soon going to have ABC. Ancient Boundary Chops. :D)
(4) Kibin: Oh.
(4) Kibin: He's not exactly alive.
(6) Katsuro: "Hey, my mom says I'm a perfect little angel. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it."
** (5) Kaylin chuckles a bit at that **
(4) Kibin: I got in trouble a lot with my family.
(6) Katsuro: "Anyway..."
(1) GM: Mayor: Right. Dead man sleeping. And angel talking. Of course.
(1) GM: Mayor: Well, goodnight.
(5) Kaylin: Sleep well.
** (6) Katsuro stretches out and relaxes, one hand on his bow. **
(1) GM: The mayor pulls a blanket out from under the driver's seat, and goes to sleep.
** (4) Kibin snores happily on the soft grass. **
(6) Katsuro: (Can I retcon in a sleeping roll?)
(6) Katsuro: (Bedroll.)
(1) GM: Sure. They arne't exactly expensive....
(4) Kibin: (Can we just assume that new characters automatically have all the nessecities?)
(4) Kibin: (Really hate figuring out how much all of the 'nessecities' cost for new characters.)
(6) Katsuro: (Right. I'll just finish up my shoping, then.)
(1) GM: (depends on where you want to draw the line; there's not really much in the way of specific listed penalties for sleeping on the ground.....)
(6) Katsuro: (It does seem silly to count single gp's at our level - Want to switch to the maintanence varient rule?)
(1) GM: (Hardly makes a difference, with the time scale we've had adventures on)
(5) Kaylin: (yeah, teleport speeds up travelling a lot...)
(5) Kaylin: (brb, gotta wash a few pans from lunch)
whispering to Kibin, late in the middle of the night, you're awoken by two Large things appearing suddenly inside your blindsense range......
** (4) Kibin wakes up the others with a rousing shout of, "Time to wake up!" **
(6) Katsuro: (So, maintenance varient?)
(4) Kibin (whispering): How the heck do they keep doing that? Protection against scrying effects, and they teleport in anyway...
(1) GM: (I'd need to look it up - which is something to do in offline time)
(6) Katsuro: "...Don't let the squirrels get me!"
(6) Katsuro: "...Uh...Just ignore that, ok?"
(4) Kibin: Hehe. Okay.
whispering to Kibin, they have Greater Teleport, and there's differnet levels of protection against different levels of divinations.....
(4) Kibin: (...so tempted to pull a prank on Katsuro...)
(1) GM: Roll vs. Initiative... as soon as Kaylin returns. Meanwhile, I suppose I could get a quick snack....
(4) Kibin: Dex check: [1d20+3] -> [11,3] = (14)
(4) Kibin: (Technically, if I plan it, and it's harmless, it's still lawful good...)
(6) Katsuro: (Hey, he's up for a prank war if you are.)
(6) Katsuro: Dex check: [1d20+5] -> [11,5] = (16)
(5) Kaylin: (back)
(5) Kaylin: Dex check: [1d20+2] -> [3,2] = (5)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+5] -> [7,5] = (12)
(1) GM: [1d20+7] -> [13,7] = (20), [1d20+7] -> [3,7] = (10)
(1) GM: Demon 1, Katsuro, Kibin, Jason, Demon 2, Kaylin
(4) Kibin: (Have you ever noticed how much more of a challenge these battles are without Elorin?)
(5) Kaylin: (well, Katsuro can be our Anti-aircraft chaingun for now...)
(1) GM: His character is rather optimized. The two beasts are very familiar; great, blue, scaly, horned things with wings. You saw them just last night.....
(4) Kibin: (Anti-infantry.)
(1) GM: Unfortunately, they're basically in the midst of you.
(5) Kaylin: (Elorin is quite powerful, yeah...)
(1) GM: The first lets loose with a full attack, trying to hit different people..... (attack order: Kaylin, Kibin, Katsuro, Mayor)
(6) Katsuro: (How'd they find us, with anti-scrying up?)
(4) Kibin: (Because private sanctum simply prevents you from seeing what's there, incidentally enough.)
(6) Katsuro: (Aren't spellcasters supposed to think of that?)
(1) GM: Spiked chain [1d20+25] -> [6,25] = (31), for [2d6+15] -> [6,6,15] = (27) and stun; [1d20+20] -> [4,20] = (24) for [2d6+15] -> [4,4,15] = (23) and stun; [1d20+15] -> [1,15] = (16) for [2d6+15] -> [5,4,15] = (24) and stun and bite [1d20+22] -> [19,22] = (41) melee [2d8+5] -> [6,8,5] = (19) and tail [1d20+22] -> [5,22] = (27) melee [2d6+5] -> [6,3,5] = (14) plus infernal wound]
(1) GM: So what's everybody's flat-footed AC?
(5) Kaylin: (28)
(4) Kibin: (Same as non-flatfootedAC. Heh.)
(6) Katsuro: (+5 Dex, +6 Bracers, +8 Amulet)
(4) Kibin: (...crud, mayor?)
(1) GM: So Kaylin for 27, miss on Kibin, miss on Katsuro, and the mayer takes both a bite and a tail hit.
(4) Kibin: (I hope he's a level 20 aristrocrat...)
(1) GM: And Kaylin - Fort save.
(5) Kaylin: Fortitude save: [1d20+17] -> [3,17] = (20)
(5) Kaylin: (yay, useless again :D)
(1) GM: DC 27; [1d4] -> [3] = (3) rounds stunned.
(4) Kibin: (Heh. That's how I've felt a lot when we were fighting constructs or undead.)
(4) Kibin: (Or the various times when I fail to disable a trap. But that's fixed now.)
(6) Katsuro: (Wonder if the GM would allow a weapon that could critical constructs or undead?)
(1) GM: Kaylin takes a nasty blow to her head, staggering her. The mayor gets bitten and stabbed with the beast's pointy tail, and starts bleeding... although he's still concious.
(1) GM: Oh, Mayor's Initiative: [1d20-1] -> [16,-1] = (15)
(6) Katsuro: (Power Surge is a move action...)
(4) Kibin: (Huh. Was that power attacking?)
(1) GM: No, no power attack. That comes next round on the target that can't dodge effectively.
(4) Kibin: (...do spiked chains count as ranged weapons?)
(6) Katsuro: (So, my turn?)
(4) Kibin: (For purposes like soft cover.)
(1) GM: No, they're reach weapons with nifties; sorry. And they're taller than the rest of you by quite a fair margin, so.....
(1) GM: And yes, your turn.
(1) GM: Do note you're being threatened by an active opponent.
(6) Katsuro: (If I stand and shoot, he gets an attack of opportunity and I could loose the shoot. If I move away, he gets an attack of opportunity and I get a shot?)
(1) GM: Pretty much. This is one of the reasons for backup weapons.
(6) Katsuro: (How long of a reach does the chain have?)
(1) GM: 20 feet becasue he's large, and he threatens in the entire area.
(4) Kibin: (What's your AC?)
(1) GM: Counting the squares he's standing on, he actually covers a 25 foot radius, 50 foot diameter, area.
(6) Katsuro: (Ok, then. Move to 30ft away, take one shot. 28AC)
(6) Katsuro: Imbued Longbow, composite +5, Holy, Strong Attack Roll: [1d20+26] -> [14,26] = (40) ===> Damage: [1d8+2+5+2d6+7+0] -> [6,2,5,2,1,7,0] = (23)
(6) Katsuro: Imbued Longbow, composite +5, Holy, Strong Attack Roll: [1d20+21] -> [1,21] = (22) ===> Damage: [1d8+2+5+2d6+7+0] -> [4,2,5,5,4,7,0] = (27)
(6) Katsuro: Imbued Longbow, composite +5, Holy, Strong Attack Roll: [1d20+16] -> [4,16] = (20) ===> Damage: [1d8+2+5+2d6+7+0] -> [2,2,5,3,2,7,0] = (21)
(1) GM: And he takes his AoO for you leaving his threatened area: [1d20+25] -> [13,25] = (38) for [2d6+15] -> [2,5,15] = (22)
(1) GM: What's your AC?
(6) Katsuro: AC: 29
(1) GM: Make a Fot save.
(6) Katsuro: Fortitude save: [1d20+10] -> [7,10] = (17)
(4) Kibin: (O.o
(1) GM: DC 27, sigh.
(6) Katsuro: (Can I say one thing before I get stunned?)
(1) GM: Yeah, you can say something, sure.
(6) Katsuro: "Get the mayor to safety!"
(1) GM: As Katsuro tries to back away from the beast, it swings at him, connecting with his head... causing him to drop his bow on the ground at his feet, and stagger around, stunned.
(4) Kibin: (Pah. You expect me to listen to you?)
(6) Katsuro: (Or you could let him die and have to pay to resurect him.)
(1) GM: Mayor: That's it.
(1) GM: Mayor: There's a REASON I retired. Dag nab it!
(5) Kaylin: (yay!(
(1) GM: The mayor pulls something out of his belt, concentrates.....
(1) GM: [1d20+18] -> [3,18] = (21)
(1) GM: And futzes his spell.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(4) Kibin: (Are two ofthem within paralyzing coneness?
(1) GM: They are 20 feet apart - so that they Flank as much area as possbile.
(1) GM: The one's still flat-footed, though.....
(4) Kibin: (How far away is the one that's flatfooted?)
(1) GM: Why, you could five-foot step......
(1) GM: They popped into the middle of camp....
** (4) Kibin steps towards the one that hasn't done anything yet, and opens up with a full attack of sneak attack PAIN on it. **
(1) GM: Roll your attacks and damage.
(4) Kibin: [1d20+25] -> [11,25] = (36)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+23] -> [7,23] = (30)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+23] -> [11,23] = (34)
(4) Kibin: (On an unrelated note, apparently I can carry a halfling and keep flying.)
(1) GM: Flat-footed AC 28; all three hit.
(1) GM: Roll your damage.
(4) Kibin: [1d6+6+9d6] -> [6,6,6,5,3,6,1,6,5,4,2] = (50)
(4) Kibin: [1d4+5+9d6] -> [3,5,4,2,3,1,2,5,5,5,1] = (36)
(4) Kibin: [1d4+5+9d6] -> [3,5,6,5,4,5,2,1,6,6,6] = (49)
(4) Kibin: (Holy. O.O)
(5) Kaylin: (Those are some nice high rolls there...)
(6) Katsuro: (Lot's of max damage.)
(1) GM: DR applies; that's a good roll. [40+26+39] -> 105
(1) GM: Jason's turn......
(1) GM: Concetration Skill Check: [1d20+28] -> [18,28] = (46)
(4) Kibin: (And strength reduced by 6 on the demons part.)
(1) GM: Evervation, Level 4: 1d4 neagative levels, close ranged touch attack, no save, SR. nagative levels: [1d4] -> [3] = (3)
(6) Katsuro: (What would an item that made a character invisible to scrying cost?)
(1) GM: Empowered, for 4 negative levels.
(1) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (base): [1d20+7] -> [19,7] = (26) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(1) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (second): [1d20+2] -> [6,2] = (8) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(4) Kibin: (And is he acting as a commoner with a quarterstaff?)
(1) GM: Touch AC 16; spell epentration: [1d20+16] -> [11,16] = (27)
(1) GM: And the critter laughs as the black ray shatters on it's hide.
(1) GM: Demon 2's turn....
(1) GM: Unfortunately, Empowering the Enervation took a full-round action - which means he doesn't move out of the half-dirt he sat up in.
(4) Kibin: (Ah.)
(1) GM: And the Demon, being in a world of hurt, focuses in on the lizardling.
(1) GM: Spiked chain [1d20+25] -> [1,25] = (26), for [2d6+15] -> [1,6,15] = (22) and stun; [1d20+20] -> [9,20] = (29) for [2d6+15] -> [5,3,15] = (23) and stun; [1d20+15] -> [15,15] = (30) for [2d6+15] -> [1,5,15] = (21) and stun and bite [1d20+22] -> [14,22] = (36) melee [2d8+5] -> [7,1,5] = (13) and tail [1d20+22] -> [18,22] = (40) melee [2d6+5] -> [4,4,5] = (13) plus infernal wound]
(4) Kibin: (It's maximized for max damage. Empowerment would make it have 1 and a half dice.)
(4) Kibin: (WHOOO! Everything misses! :D)
(1) GM: Right. And [3*1.5] -> 4.5, rounds down to 4.
(1) GM: Right - you can't be flanked.
(4) Kibin: (Even if I was flanked. :P)
(1) GM: He's in nat-20 territory, isn't he?
(4) Kibin: (Nearly, yeah.)
(4) Kibin: (For every attack except the very first one.)
(1) GM: Kaylin - down a round on your Stun.
(1) GM: Demon 1 focuses in on the spellcaster.....
(1) GM: Spiked chain [1d20+25] -> [14,25] = (39), for [2d6+15] -> [1,1,15] = (17) and stun; [1d20+20] -> [2,20] = (22) for [2d6+15] -> [4,5,15] = (24) and stun; [1d20+15] -> [13,15] = (28) for [2d6+15] -> [4,5,15] = (24) and stun and bite [1d20+22] -> [13,22] = (35) melee [2d8+5] -> [5,1,5] = (11) and tail [1d20+22] -> [10,22] = (32) melee [2d6+5] -> [1,2,5] = (8) plus infernal wound]
(4) Kibin: (18 or more to hit with the very first attack.)
(1) GM: What's your stunned AC? It can't be good......
(5) Kaylin: (stunned AC means no shield, right?)
(6) Katsuro: (Er, how long am I stunned?)
(5) Kaylin: (without shield and without +2 dex, AC is down to... erk, 23)
(4) Kibin: (Um... stunned does NOT mean no shield.)
(1) GM: Oh, did I not roll it? [1d4] -> [1] = (1) roounds
(4) Kibin: (You can still move.)
(5) Kaylin: (stunned drops everything)
(1) GM: "Stunned: A stunned creature drops everything held, can’t take actions, takes a –2 penalty to AC, and loses his Dexterity bonus to AC (if any)."
(5) Kaylin: (I thought.)
(4) Kibin: (But you probally have a buckler.)
(5) Kaylin: (oh, great, AC 21)
(4) Kibin: (Which is strapped to your arm.)
(5) Kaylin: (not buckler, mithril light shield)
(4) Kibin: (Great. x.x)
(4) Kibin: (Okay, if you survive that, I know what I'm going to do next turn. :P)
(1) GM: So AC 21. Ouch. [17+24+24+11+8] -> 84, and make three different fort saves.
(5) Kaylin: Fortitude save: [1d20+17] -> [5,17] = (22)
(5) Kaylin: Fortitude save: [1d20+17] -> [6,17] = (23)
(5) Kaylin: Fortitude save: [1d20+17] -> [20,17] = (37)
(5) Kaylin: (1/4 fort saves above average roll :( )
(4) Kibin: (Yay you made one!)
(1) GM: Fortunately, I forgot to activate Power Attack....
(4) Kibin: (Heh. :P)
(5) Kaylin: (crap, I'm not unconscious.)
(1) GM: Best of remaining 2 rounds from before, or [1d4] -> [2] = (2), [1d4] -> [3] = (3)
(5) Kaylin: (2 hp)
(4) Kibin: (Eeep.)
(6) Katsuro: (If this character dies, I am making a minatuar barbarian kensai with a greatsword.)
(4) Kibin: (Lol.)
(1) GM: Kaylin takes blow after blow after blow....... but remains standing, if very, very stunned.
(1) GM: Katsuro - one round off of your remaining Stun time.
(1) GM: Mayor: Dag Nab it!
(1) GM: The mayor again concentrates.....[1d20+18] -> [15,18] = (33)
(1) GM: And an emerald ray shoots from his hand......
(1) GM: [1d20+15] -> [12,15] = (27)
(4) Kibin: (And I wish I knew what that was.)
(1) GM: [1d20+15] -> [9,15] = (24)
(1) GM: And shatters on the beast's hide.
whispering to Kaylin, Dismissal
(1) GM: The mayor frowns and vanishes from his bed.... still bleeding.
whispering to Kaylin, Quickened Dimension Door - he's nearby.
(1) GM: Kibin?
** (4) Kibin gets in a position to hit both demons with his breath weapon, dodging specifically against the demon he's 5 feet from, and unleases a paralyzing blast on them both. Making sure to miss Elorin. **
(1) GM: Umm... they're 20 feet apart. How big is your cone?
(4) Kibin: (Hmmm.)
(4) Kibin: (So I get 20 feet back and on the side to unleash the blast of paralzing cold?)
(1) GM: AoO: [1d20+25] -> [14,25] = (39) for [2d6+15] -> [2,3,15] = (20)
(4) Kibin: (20 feet long the cone is. So I would barely get both of them, since the ending line is 20 feet wide.)
(4) Kibin: (Whoosh.)
(1) GM: And the beast can't land a blow on the slippry little lizard....
(1) GM: Fort saves: [1d20+16] -> [16,16] = (32), [1d20+16] -> [2,16] = (18)
(4) Kibin: (Woot one failed!)
(1) GM: What's the duration on that?
(4) Kibin: (And is paralyzed for 1d4+1 rounds!)
(1) GM: [1d4+1] -> [4,1] = (5)
(4) Kibin: (Yay. :)
(4) Kibin: [1d4] -> [4] = (4)
(4) Kibin: (Not yay, but oh well.)
(1) GM: Dismissal, 5th: Forces a creature to return to native plane.
(1) GM: Jason walks over to the demon that's been pounding on Kaylin, making sure to end up opposite Kibin, and tries a spell of his own....
(1) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (base): [1d20+7] -> [20,7] = (27) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(1) GM: Critical hit? [1d20+7] -> [3,7] = (10) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(1) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (second): [1d20+2] -> [13,2] = (15) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(4) Kibin: (The nonparalyzed one?)
(1) GM: Oh yeah.
(1) GM: Which hits.... [1d20+16] -> [15,16] = (31)
(1) GM: Penetrates spell resistence.....
(1) GM: [1d20+15] -> [13,15] = (28)
(1) GM: And the beasty goes nowhere.
(1) GM: Standing still as he is, you notice the paralized beasty is slowly healing up.....
(1) GM: Kaylin - take two points of bleeding damage.
(1) GM: Stupid Infernal Wound.....
(4) Kibin: (Yay now Kaylin is unconscious!)
(1) GM: Ah, 0 HP is Disabled, not Unconcious...... if she wasn't still stunned, she could cast a spell at the expense of a hit point.
(4) Kibin: (Ah.)
(4) Kibin: (Dang.)
(1) GM: She is, however, staggared, and obviously out of the fight for the count.....
(1) GM: And the remaining demon on the ground, seeing the situation, flys into the air and blasts the ground..... [10d6] -> [4,5,3,5,4,3,2,2,2,2] = (32) fire damage, Reflex half.
(1) GM: Jason miss chance, 1-50 misses: [1d100] -> [45] = (45)
(6) Katsuro: (Does that hit Katsuro?)
(4) Kibin: (Heh. Don't forget you can make a concentration check instead of a reflex save. :D)
(6) Katsuro: (Didn't.)
(1) GM: Focusing on Kibin, actually - he's the current threat. Nobody else has done much.
(4) Kibin: (Which is neat.)
(1) GM: Jason just happens to be in range.
(1) GM: Kibin - Reflex save?
(4) Kibin: Reflex save: [1d20+24] -> [9,24] = (33)
(1) GM: Yeah, that'll pass - and Evasion applies.
(1) GM: The wagon is a bit of a burned-out cinder, mind, but the wily rogue avoids the flames like the plauge... successfully.
(1) GM: Katsuro - subtract a round from your remaining Stun time.
(1) GM: I think this should be the last combat round you miss from that.....
(6) Katsuro: (One round.)
(1) GM: One more? Oh well.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(6) Katsuro: (So can act now.)
(6) Katsuro: (No, one round to subtract from.)
(4) Kibin: (Oh, mine?)
(1) GM: Oh, well, it's your turn then.
(1) GM: Your bow is on the ground in front of you.
(6) Katsuro: (Am I in AoO range of any beasties?)
** (4) Kibin flies up to the demon still there, and taunts the demon with silly faces. **
(1) GM: Nobody is currently threatening you, so it's a perfetly safe move action to pick it up.
(4) Kibin: (And hovers.)
(6) Katsuro: (Ok, then.)
(4) Kibin: (So two move actions. Wheeee.)
(4) Kibin: (Unless making silly faces at the demon is a move action or more.)
(6) Katsuro: In one swift movement, Katsuro picks up his bow and shoots the evil outsider with a bane of evil outsiders arrow.
(6) Katsuro: Imbued Longbow, composite +5, Holy, Strong Attack Roll: [1d20+26] -> [12,26] = (38) ===> Damage: [1d8+2+5+2d6+7+0] -> [6,2,5,1,6,7,0] = (27)
(6) Katsuro: Imbued Longbow, composite +5, Holy, Strong Attack Roll: [1d20+21] -> [18,21] = (39) ===> Damage: [1d8+2+5+2d6+7+0] -> [7,2,5,1,6,7,0] = (28)
(6) Katsuro: Imbued Longbow, composite +5, Holy, Strong Attack Roll: [1d20+16] -> [2,16] = (18) ===> Damage: [1d8+2+5+2d6+7+0] -> [5,2,5,6,6,7,0] = (31)
(6) Katsuro: Bane: [2+2d6] -> [2,3,1] = (6)
(1) GM: Kibin - Getting close enough to strike at him?
(4) Kibin: (Yup.)
(6) Katsuro: (+2 to the attack from Bane.)
(1) GM: So an AoO for you :[1d20+25] -> [17,25] = (42) - not that it much matters.
(4) Kibin: (Ooo, close. 2 points away.)
(1) GM: AC 35 - two hits, what material of arrows are you using?
(6) Katsuro: (Er, with a standard action, doesn't that only allow one attack? Adamantine.)
(1) GM: Oh, so you're just firing, not using that one nifty feat for multiple arrows as a standard action, then?
(6) Katsuro: (Er...In that case, yes I am. Forgot about it.)
(4) Kibin: (Heh.)
(1) GM: Okay, so -4 to the attack roll for two arrows, -6 for three; what's your BAB?
(1) GM: And how many do you feel like putting into the air?
(6) Katsuro: (If it's -4 to the attack roll, only one will hit.)
(1) GM: Well, they technically all use the same attack roll.......
(1) GM: The second one being the closest to the listed modifier, so we'll go with that one. Right. Of course that's my reason.
(6) Katsuro: (Oh, right, +2 from Greater Weapon Focus. So +36 and +37.)
(6) Katsuro: (Or, no. I already included that...)
(6) Katsuro: (Er, whichever does the most damage. I have to go do something for a bit...)
(1) GM: You plunk two arrows into the side of the beast [27+28-20+6+2d6] -> [41,1,2] = (44) (2d6 is for the second Bane)
(4) Kibin: (*yawns*)
(1) GM: And Jason's turn... he Husles up to a flanking position.
(1) GM: Kaylin loses two more HP to bleeding.....
(1) GM: And Demon 1 lets loose on Kibin....
(1) GM: Spiked chain [1d20+25] -> [8,25] = (33), for [2d6+15] -> [2,3,15] = (20) and stun; [1d20+20] -> [9,20] = (29) for [2d6+15] -> [1,4,15] = (20) and stun; [1d20+15] -> [7,15] = (22) for [2d6+15] -> [6,5,15] = (26) and stun and bite [1d20+22] -> [11,22] = (33) melee [2d8+5] -> [3,3,5] = (11) and tail [1d20+22] -> [1,22] = (23) melee [2d6+5] -> [4,3,5] = (12) plus infernal wound]
(1) GM: And the chain flais around, quite uselessly.
(1) GM: Katsuro again?
(1) GM: Ping?
(1) GM: Okay, my connection works....
(4) Kibin: (Oookay.)
(4) Kibin: (Yeah. He's just AFK.)
(4) Kibin: (So...)
(1) GM: So he's Delaying.
(1) GM: Kibin?
** (4) Kibin unleashes a full attack on the demon, while hovering in midair. **
(4) Kibin: (And preferably taking a 5 foot step above the demon, so I get a +1 on attacks.)
(4) Kibin: (From higher ground.)
(1) GM: Doesn't really apply in fully areal situations....... no ground; he can dodge down just as easily as left or right (more so, actually).
(4) Kibin: (Okay then, maybe I'll use that on some groundbound targets. :P)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+25] -> [15,25] = (40)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+23] -> [8,23] = (31)
(4) Kibin: [1d20+23] -> [11,23] = (34)
(4) Kibin: (All those hit?)
(1) GM: No, AC 35, +2 Flanking - one missed.
(4) Kibin: [1d6+6+9d6)
(4) Kibin: [1d4+5+9d6] -> [1,5,3,1,5,4,4,4,1,1,5] = (34)
(4) Kibin: [1d6+6+9d6] -> [6,6,4,4,4,5,5,4,1,1,6] = (46)
(1) GM: DR applies.... [34+46-20] -> 60
(4) Kibin: (Can Elorin take care of the paralyzed demon?)
(4) Kibin: (Seeing as how he has a bow, and a silver arrow.)
(1) GM: Yeah, that works.....
(1) GM: Long as the Paralized deom doesn't roll a nat-20, pretty much: [1d20] -> [11] = (11)
(1) GM: Yep, he's dead.
(4) Kibin: (Heh, 25 DC paralyzing attack is convienent.)
(1) GM: Jason tries for a full attack (just for grins)
(1) GM: Quarterstaff (base): [1d20+8] -> [7,8] = (15) ===> Damage: [1d6+1] -> [5,1] = (6)
(1) GM: Quarterstaff (second): [1d20+3] -> [9,3] = (12) ===> Damage: [1d6+1] -> [4,1] = (5)
(1) GM: Neither hits, although the first one just barely glances off his hide.
(4) Kibin: (So... doesn't even hit touch AC?)
(1) GM: Due to flanking bonus, the first hit touch AC.
(1) GM: By 2.
(1) GM: One in exess of where it needed to be for that.
(1) GM: Kaylin takes another two points of bleeding damage..... briging her down to -4.
(1) GM: Demon 1, seing this isn't going well, and his target is gone, concentrates.....
(1) GM: [1d20+24] -> [8,24] = (32)
(1) GM: And vanishes from view.
(4) Kibin: (Stupid defensive casting.)
(1) GM: (except when Kaylin is doing it...... )
(1) GM: (then it's GREAT!)
(1) GM: The mayor walks out from the forest.
(4) Kibin: (Yeah.)
(1) GM: Still bleeding.
(1) GM: Mayor: Umm... this isn't good.
(1) GM: Eloroin: Obviously - but Kaylin first.....
Elorin casts Greater Dispel Magic ( level 6, "As dispel magic, but up to +20 on check" )
Elorin can cast Greater Dispel Magic 98 more times
Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )

Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
Elorin can cast Level 6 Spell 5 more times
** (5) Kaylin staggers up **
(5) Kaylin: Thanks... sorry I was so useless
(1) GM: Not necessarily...caster level check: [1d20+19] -> [4,19] = (23)
(5) Kaylin: Thought I was going to die for sure there.
(5) Kaylin: (oh.)
(1) GM: It doesn't work.
(1) GM: Infernal WOund is NASTY.
(5) Kaylin: (Well, save that for if it succeeds :(
(1) GM: So take 2 more points of bleeding damage, should put you at -6.
Elorin casts Cure Light Wounds ( level 1, "Cures 1d8 damage +1/level (max +5)" )
Elorin can cast Cure Light Wounds 98 more times
Elorin casts Level 1 Spell ( level 1, "Spell slot tracking device" )
Elorin can cast Level 1 Spell 6 more times
(1) GM: [1d20+19] -> [15,19] = (34)
(1) GM: And the infernal wound itself goes away [1d8+5] -> [1,5] = (6)
Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )
Elorin can cast Heal 97 more times
Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
Elorin can cast Level 6 Spell 4 more times
(6) Katsuro: (Back, intermitantly.)
(1) GM: And then Elorin clears up the rest of the wounds.
(1) GM: Elorin: And you.....
Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
Elorin can cast Level 6 Spell 3 more times
Elorin casts Heal ( level 6, "Cures 10 points/level of damage, all diseases and mental conditions" )

Elorin can cast Heal 95 more times
Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
Elorin can cast Level 6 Spell 2 more times
(1) GM: Elorin spends lots of time casting....
(1) GM: Elorin: Okay... stay away from the tails on those things.
(6) Katsuro: (Only 22 damage to Katsuro, I think.)
(1) GM: He took a fair amount - mostly from bleeding, later.
(6) Katsuro: (How much?)
(1) GM: Enough that he wasn't looking well.
(1) GM: Elorin: Oh, how badly are you hurt?
** (4) Kibin looks at himself. Huh, barely a scratch. **
(1) GM: (talking to Katsuro.... he can tell you never got a blow landed on you)
(4) Kibin: (I know.)
(6) Katsuro: "Been better. Been worse, too."
(1) GM: Elorin: Well, let's see what we can do about that....
Elorin casts Cure Serious Wounds ( level 3, "Cures 3d8 damage +1/level (max +15)" )
Elorin can cast Cure Serious Wounds 98 more times
Elorin casts Level 3 Spell ( level 3, "Spell slot tracking device" )
Elorin can cast Level 3 Spell 6 more times
(1) GM: [3d8+15] -> [4,4,3,15] = (26)
(6) Katsuro: (That would put him at?)
(1) GM: He only took one hit... let me check....
(1) GM: you took 22 points of damage - fully healed, now.
(6) Katsuro: (Thought you said there was bleeding?)
(4) Kibin: So... back to sleep?
(4) Kibin: (Yeah. bleeding that doesn't cause damage over time I guess?)
(6) Katsuro: "Perhaps someone could cast a more effective spell to prevent scrying?"
(1) GM: That's only from the tail wound - you were hit by the chain (which stunned you).
(6) Katsuro: (Ah, thanks.)
(1) GM: Jason: Anyone got some Mind Blanks prepared?
(1) GM: Jason: And of course, by Anyone, I'm asking you, Kaylin.
(4) Kibin: (*pokes Kaylin*)
(5) Kaylin: Er... no, I don't.
(5) Kaylin: I haven't been able to afford new scrolls lately.
(4) Kibin: (Why do you have the "away, bed" message?)
(1) GM: Jason: Ah. Then no, no stronger countermeasures available.
(4) Kibin: Don't suppose we could sleep in a forcecage?
(6) Katsuro: "Then, I suggest watches."
(6) Katsuro: Int check: [1d20+0] -> [19,0] = (19)
(5) Kaylin: That would be interesting.
(1) GM: Jason: Umm... those tend to be a tad expensive.
(6) Katsuro: (Would that make breathing difficult?)
(5) Kaylin: I don't wish to expend my only component for it, either.
(4) Kibin: Forcecages are expensive?
(1) GM: Jason: Yeah, a little matter of some ruby dust; 1,500 gp worth, minimum.
(4) Kibin: (I should hae found a way to move that forcecage trap somehow...)
(5) Kaylin: Anyways, that was exciting...
(4) Kibin: It's usually once a night, so we should be safe now...
(6) Katsuro: "Watches - would still be a good idea."
(1) GM: Jason: Fine. I don't need to sleep tonight......
** (4) Kibin lays back down next to the wagon and continues sleeping. **
(6) Katsuro: "My thanks, then."
** (6) Katsuro goes back to sleep. **
(1) GM: [1d100] -> [20] = (20)
(4) Kibin: (I don't need sleep either, but I have lovely blindsense. :P)
(1) GM: The next morning, the sun reveals the damage over the night; the wagon, while it still looks like it will work, is severley damaged; one of the horses is outright dead, but the other is fine.
(1) GM: It's quite well cooked.
(5) Kaylin: This isn't good...
** (4) Kibin says when he wakes up, "Probally not." **
(1) GM: Mayor: Well, one horse can pull the wagon, no point letting the meat go to waste....... we won't be able to carry as much back, though.
(5) Kaylin: We could teleport back to town and teleport here with another horse.
(1) GM: The mayor gets to work butchering the horse properly.
(1) GM: Mayor: Yeah, that'd be great; I've been breeding a couple, there should be another back in my barn, that my wife's been taking care of.
(4) Kibin: There's a lot of spells that create a horse, isn't there?
(1) GM: Jason: Not one that will pull a wagon.
(4) Kibin: Ah.
(6) Katsuro: "Trust me, you don't put a warhorse to pulling a wagon. Just...Don't."
(5) Kaylin: All right, I'll prepare two teleport spells along with the other spells...
(1) GM: Jason: Actually... do you have a nice Polymorph? Prefferably the longer-lasting version that can do just about anything for a time.....
(5) Kaylin: I do...
(5) Kaylin: That'd suffice, I'm sure.
(4) Kibin: (Interestingly enough, you can turn a creature into any other creature that isn't a plant, construct, or undead, for 12 hours. :P)
(4) Kibin: (With Polymorph Any Object.)
(5) Kaylin: (Any chance of turning the dead horse into a live horse?:P)
(1) GM: (considering one of the examples is of a pebble into a human? Wouldn't last forever, but yes, possible)
(4) Kibin: (Heh. Wonder what that human would think during the time it's not a pebble.)
(5) Kaylin: (What'd be the duration factor on that?)
(6) Katsuro: ('Hmm, so this is what 'sight' is. And that's 'hearing' and...Yeah, that would be 'smell'. Maybe I was better off as a pebble...')
(1) GM: Let's see... Size, Related, Class... give it the two days, Sheep to Wool Coat example
(4) Kibin: (2 days, the same as sheep to wool coat, I suppose.)
(5) Kaylin: (All right, that makes sense...)
** (5) Kaylin sits down to prepare spells **
(1) GM: Mayor finishes up butchering the horse.
(1) GM: After an hour......
(4) Kibin: (And the heros feast most likely, another hour.)
(1) GM: Another hour +; there's the casting time to consider, as well as the eating time.
(4) Kibin: (You mean the one standard action casting time?)
(1) GM: You're thinking of a different spell - Heroe's Feast is a 10 minute casting time.
(4) Kibin: (Oh.)
(1) GM: So, after prepareing, and eating.....
(4) Kibin: (But elorin doesn't have to prepare, so he can do it while Kaylin is preparing.)
(1) GM: He does, however, have to pray for an hour every day......
** (5) Kaylin realises the horse was chopped up... **
(5) Kaylin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+37] -> [19,37] = (56)
(5) Kaylin: (how much horse has to be there for a 2 day Poly Any object?)
(4) Kibin: (Wool coat to sheep?)
whispering to Kaylin, Yeah, it'll still work. You do need most the horse, but as long as it's essentially all in one spot.....
(5) Kaylin: Er, Mr. Mayor, I hate to say this, but could you kind of put the horse meat... back?
(1) GM: Mayor: Huh?
(5) Kaylin: I want to polymorph it into a live horse so that we can keep going for a bit.
** (4) Kibin draws doodles in the dust while he waits for Kaylin to cast that spell. **
(6) Katsuro: (Supper)
(1) GM: Mayor: Umm..... undead horse? It's kinda dismembered... and undead are evil... no offense......
(1) GM: Jason: Well, the vast majority are......
(4) Kibin: (Whoa, you could polymorph a dead teammate every couple of days into themselves. O.o)
(4) Kibin: (Thus negating the need for ressurection...)
(5) Kaylin: It's not quite undead...
(1) GM: Mayor: But here....
(1) GM: The mayor stacks the meat up in a pile, on some butcher paper.
(4) Kibin: (And did you know that apparently, ghosts have "Alignment: Any"? O.o)
(5) Kaylin: You're obviously a powerful wizard... think of it as turning a rock into a mouse or something, y'know, not... undead...
(1) GM: Mayor: Well... I know a few tricks.... have a handy custom-crafted rod up my sleeve for emergencies.
(1) GM: Mayor: The universe isn't quite my plaything, though.
(5) Kaylin: Ah, wasn't paying much attention at the time.
(5) Kaylin: Well, if this is going to disturb you, we can head back to the village and try to pick up another horse...
(5) Kaylin: it'll just be a bit more trouble
(1) GM: Mayor: No, no, I'll watch........ need to make the appointment, my mirror won't be on his end to watch delays....
** (5) Kaylin makes sure the conditions are OK for casting... **
(1) GM: Area's clear.
** (5) Kaylin goes near the horse corpse and casts **
(5) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Polymorph Any Object ( level 8, "Changes any subject into anything else." )
(1) GM: And you have a horse in front of you.
(1) GM: The horse seems a little confused and shaky.
(5) Kaylin: The horse should be alive for 2 days before reverting to... chopped up meat.
(1) GM: The mayor sees about harnessing up the horse.....
(1) GM: Mayor: It's not the same horse. This one doesn't have the benefit of training... a blank slate, so to speak. Still, the other should keep him in line.
(4) Kibin: (Hmmmmm... a pair of casters that keep each other 'alive' in a sense with Polymorph Any Object...)
(4) Kibin: (One gets killed, the other casts Polymorph Any Object on them.)
(1) GM: (Not in my campaign - you'd have a generic NPC with no memory - commoner-1)
(4) Kibin: (Aw. :(
(1) GM: (*might* be RAW-letgal, though)
(4) Kibin: (But a single dispel magic and it's gone!)
(1) GM: (Interesting question for the rules-lawyers, though......)
(4) Kibin: (Heh, I'll post it on the OOTS forums, then. Probally would just get a lot of messages about PaO being overpowered, though.)
(1) GM: Anyway.... the mayor gets back up on the wagon... which has been damaged, but still seems sound ... and manages to get things moving again.
** (4) Kibin flies above, getting some more exercise and not putting any more weight on the wagon than required. **
(1) GM: A little after noon, you see another older man on a horse-drawn wagon. The two have similar mannerisms, but don't appear to be related.
(5) Kaylin: Tomorrow I'll see about repairing the wagon.
(1) GM: Mayor: So.
(1) GM: Other Mayor: Right.
(1) GM: Mayor: Can they really pull it off?
(4) Kibin: (Oh, and apparently on that aerial race, should have gotten there a little sooner. Overland speed for dragons is 1.5 times the 'combat' speed.)
** (4) Kibin lands back on the ground. **
(1) GM: Other Mayor: Hope so.
(1) GM: Mayor: Well, let's show them the boundary stones in question.
(1) GM: Other Mayor: Right. Which set to burn?
(1) GM: The mayor of the northern town pulls out a coin, and tosses it in the air; the mayor from the southern town calls "tails".
(1) GM: [1d2] -> [1] = (1)
(1) GM: The coin lands heads up, on the open road.
(4) Kibin: (Which town were we coming from?)
(1) GM: Mayor: My choice, then... how about one of each. Confuse everybody.
(1) GM: From Northern town.
(4) Kibin: (Yay. GO NORTHERN TOWN.)
(1) GM: The mayors hitch up the wagons and take you to a standing stone about two miles from where they met up.
(1) GM: It's big. About ten feet tall, and five foot across. A cylinder itself.
** (6) Katsuro pulls his hat over his eyes (Can I retcon a hat?) and dozes. **
(1) GM: And that's just the above-ground portion.
(4) Kibin: Wow.
(5) Kaylin: You weren't exaggerating, I see.
(1) GM: Part of an outfit - did you pick "adventurers"? If so, it comes with.
(4) Kibin: Your founders never thought to just use landmarks as border markers?
(5) Kaylin: Well... let's see... how much is buried underground?
(1) GM: N Mayor: Yeah. Supposedly they were set up after long, drawn-out negotiations about five hundred years ago. We'll have to come back later with a small army to move them. Not too much trouble.
(1) GM: Mayor: Not sure. They were set up long before I was born.
(5) Kaylin: Guess we'll find out, then.
(1) GM: S Mayor: Supposedly, about five feet; that's standard for these - one third underground for stability.
(1) GM: N Mayor: Also for sliding the ally thing into the hole.
** (4) Kibin flies up, then, and sees if there's anything interesting nearby that he can see from the air while Kaylin is doing her spellcasting stuff. **
(5) Kaylin: Oh well... can I stand on someone's shoulders to get on top?
(5) Kaylin: Might as well be efficient about the casting..
whispering to Kibin, You manage to spot three such other standing stones, arranged in a rough circle... almost appears to be a pentagram, with the fifth point in a forest, and the center a small hill.
(4) Kibin (whispering): I land on the hill, then, seeing if there's anything interesting around there. And another detect magic.
(6) Katsuro: (Hmm...Samuri Jack style hat.)
whispering to Kibin, You don't detect anything exposed on the hill.
(6) Katsuro: "I should be able to help."
(5) Kaylin: Thanks...
** (6) Katsuro stands next to the stone and leans on it with his hands. **
(6) Katsuro: Concentration Skill Check: [1d20+21] -> [10,21] = (31)
(4) Kibin (whispering): I keep concentration, then, and move with it over to the forest one.
(6) Katsuro: (22 strength for four rounds.)
whispering to Kibin, Deep in the forest, you do indeed find another stone... which radiates a rather strong magic, after a bit of concentration.
(6) Katsuro: "I've increased my strength, but it won't last long. About a third of a minute."
(5) Kaylin: Going to try to push it over?
(4) Kibin (whispering): Okay, then I fly back towards Kaylin and the others fairly quickly...
(1) GM: Kibin comes flying at brekneck speeds stright towards you.....
(6) Katsuro: "Stand on my shoulders already."
** (5) Kaylin climbs up **
** (4) Kibin lands next to everyone, saying, "Those stones radiate some strong magic, might not be a good idea to turn them into meat..." **
** (5) Kaylin climbs up on top before responding to Kibin **
(5) Kaylin: Recognise the type of magic?
(4) Kibin: Um. Magic?
whispering to Kibin, Got Spellcraft?
(5) Kaylin: Right, sorry.
(4) Kibin (whispering): I can make an unaided check with a +2 bonus...
(5) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Arcane Sight ( level 3, "You can see all magical auras within 120 feet." )
** (5) Kaylin starts eyeing the stone **
whispering to Kibin, Spellcraft is Trained Only. Got ranks?
whispering to Kaylin, Strong aura on the stone; spellcraft check?
(4) Kibin (whispering): Nope. Not a class skill for dragons.
(5) Kaylin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+37] -> [15,37] = (52)
whispering to Kaylin, Very strong Abjouration.
whispering to Kaylin, Almost overwhelming.
(4) Kibin: (Yay, boredom might save the day again!)
whispering to Kaylin, There's also some Conjouration and Enchantment.
(5) Kaylin: That's interesting... there's several schools of magic on this rock...
(5) Kaylin: Seems like these stones weren't meant to be interfered with.
(1) GM: N Mayor: What are you talking about?
(5) Kaylin: Magic this strong, I don't want to try to disrupt it... is there another large amount of stone nearby?
(1) GM: S Mayor taps the stones handily, and nothing happens.
(1) GM: N Mayor: These things have been here for... oh, a millenia, I think.
(4) Kibin: Five stones are arranged roughly around a small hill, in sort of a pentagram.
(5) Kaylin: A pentagram?
(5) Kaylin: Knowledge: Religion Skill Check: [1d20+16] -> [18,16] = (34)
(4) Kibin: Yeah. Easy to see when you're in the air.
whispering to Kaylin, Commonly used for certain types of bindings... although what would need a pentagram four miles on a side to contain....... doesn't appear to have much in the way of religios significance; the rocks themselves are quite plane.
whispering to Kaylin, Plain. Not Plane. Grr....
(5) Kaylin: Well... pentagrams are used for bindings...
(5) Kaylin: One this big, though... I have no idea what might require this elaborate of a structure...
(5) Kaylin: Hold on a second...
(5) Kaylin: One millenia?
(5) Kaylin: Jason, how long ago was it that you were fighting that one iron-bodied person?
(4) Kibin: There's no magic at the center that I could detect, however.
(1) GM: S Mayor: Give or take. There was a fair amount of turmoil at the time.
(1) GM: N Mayor: Our respective towns were actually built on the ruins of some thriving cities.
(1) GM: Jason: Roughly... hard to keep track of the exact time.
(5) Kaylin: Does this area seem familiar to you at all?... I'm extremely curious about this...
(5) Kaylin: (heh, I wonder if I'm completely off-track here...)
(1) GM: S Mayor: Well, I'm in no real rush; stores aren't running out THAT fast, and the armorers won't be ready for a while.
(1) GM: N Mayor: Yeah. Don't tell me specifically when, okay?
(1) GM: S Mayor: Right.
(5) Kaylin: Patience, please. This could be very important, or it could be something long gone.
(5) Kaylin: If it's the former I'd rather not be on the same plane of existence...
(6) Katsuro: (Didn't we already find the place that iron-guy had been fought at?)
(4) Kibin: (Yeah...)
(5) Kaylin: (yeah, but something is pretty weird with this)
(1) GM: (And seen the rust-stained boulder Jason had used to finally break the original?)
(4) Kibin: Would be nice if we could see what's buried there.
(5) Kaylin: Well... the hill is in between all these towers...
(4) Kibin: (Jason used a rust-stained boulder to break the original? I thought it was suicide bord attacks.)
(1) GM: (Telekenetic Thrusts - whack him a few times with whatever's heandy while possessing a bird or whatever to hide in - the rust came after)
(4) Kibin: (Oh.)
(5) Kaylin: Well, Mayors, I'd like to come back here and investigate later, but first you need your food supplies... is there another nearby source of rock?
(1) GM: N Mayor: Well, not really - which, now that I think about it, is kinda odd - they had to get these things.. oh, about a hundred miles or more from the nearest mountain.
(1) GM: S Mayor: 136, from this one.
(1) GM: N Mayor: If you say so. You're the geographer, not me.
(5) Kaylin: Suspicious.
(1) GM: S Mayor: I suppose we could dig down to bedrock.....
(1) GM: N Mayor: Right, it's only about ten feet or so down - it's why there aren't so many trees around here.
(6) Katsuro: "Probably a spell for that. There's a spell for everything, except flat feet."
(1) GM: S Mayor: For farmland, nobody cares... except when digging a well, of course.... but tha'ts what picks are for.
(5) Kaylin: Want me to make a spell for flat feet?
(5) Kaylin: I'll bet I could come up with one.
(1) GM: N Mayor: Oh, there's a spell or two that will help with flat-feet; Fly, I think it's called.
(6) Katsuro: "...Well, there goes a great line. It died well."
(5) Kaylin: It did.
(5) Kaylin: Well, I'd be much happier about digging down to bedrock nearby - and away from the marker rocks.
(1) GM: S Mayor: We shall bury it with honor.
(4) Kibin: (There's a spell that makes you never flat-footed...)
(6) Katsuro: (It's dead! It's gone! It's pushing up commas! It's an ex-line! Stop beating a dead horse! :D )
(1) GM: Forsight - Druid 9, Knoweledge-9, Sor/Wiz 9
(6) Katsuro: "For it died in battle, stabbed in the back."
(1) GM: Dinner - gotta go.
(4) Kibin: (Bye. :(
(6) Katsuro: (Bye.)
(4) Kibin: (Katsuro, what's your AC?)
(6) Katsuro: AC: 29
(4) Kibin: (Dang...)
(5) Kaylin: (OK, dinner... I'll be back in a little bit)
(4) Kibin: (I've got like... 10 more AC than everyone in the party.)
(6) Katsuro: (Like, duuude!)
(4) Kibin: (43. Elorin has like.. .33.)
(4) Kibin: (What about HP?)
(6) Katsuro: (129)
(4) Kibin: (O.O)
(4) Kibin: (What about hypothetical 20th level HP with average HP?)
(6) Katsuro: ([Bad dice format] - [220/ 2.0)]
(6) Katsuro: [220/ 2.0] -> 110.0
(6) Katsuro: (130, with Con bonus)
(4) Kibin: (Huh?)
(4) Kibin: (So it's 129 now... it's 130 in three levels?!?)
(6) Katsuro: (No...[129 + 16.5] -> 145.5)
(4) Kibin: (Oh, that's more reasonable.)
(6) Katsuro: (+6 Con bonus item, [129+28] -> 157)
(4) Kibin: (Still lower hitpoints than me. O.o)
(6) Katsuro: (Well, something, with a con bonus)
(4) Kibin: (157 with a con bonus? Wha?)
(4) Kibin: (A con bonus item at level 20 would give you 60 HP?)
(4) Kibin: (+6 that is.)
(6) Katsuro: (Well, yeah. [3*20] -> 60)
(4) Kibin: (Am I missing something?)
(6) Katsuro: (60 extra HP from a +6 con bonus at level 20.)
(4) Kibin: (So how much hitpoints at level 20 for you if you have a +5 con bonus?)
(6) Katsuro: (+5 to the score, +2 bonus, +40 HP)
(4) Kibin: (Could you state a number please? x.x)
(6) Katsuro: (...I just did?)
(4) Kibin: (... I mean theoretical level 20 HP with a +6 con boosting item???)
(5) Kaylin: (OK, looks like I'll be gone for about 10 - 15 minutes if we start before then.)
(6) Katsuro: ([(220/2.0) +60.0] -> 170.0
(6) Katsuro: (That's with a 10 con)
(4) Kibin: (With your constitution?)
(6) Katsuro: ([170 + 20] -> 190)
(6) Katsuro: (If you want to know how many bonus HP you have, multiply your con bonus by your level.)
(4) Kibin: (Ah, okay. So you'll actually have more HP than me. My faith in D&D stereotypes is slightly restored.)
(1) GM: Okay, who's all online.
(6) Katsuro: (Not I)
(4) Kibin: (Me.)
(6) Katsuro: (Actually, I need to BRB)
(1) GM: So Kaylin's out for a little while, Katsuro will be right back, and Kibin's properly online. Okay.
(6) Katsuro: (Back)
(4) Kibin: (Still here.)
(1) GM: So just waiting on Kaylin, then.
(6) Katsuro: (Do you have a liscence for it?)
(1) GM: Server's license? The waiter isn't technically handling the food to the point where a food handler's permit is required.
(4) Kibin: (Did I miss something? O.o)
(5) Kaylin: (back)
(6) Katsuro: (No, license for the still.)
(4) Kibin: (?)
(1) GM: Oh, other bad pun. Okay.
(6) Katsuro: (You said you had a still there.)
(1) GM: Still - used to refine alcohol.
(4) Kibin: (I said still here?)
(4) Kibin: (Ah.)
(4) Kibin: (Ignorance is bliss from puns, apparently.)
(1) GM: Technically, no license is needed, if it's for personal consumption only. Can't legally take it off your property in most jurisdictions without a proper license, though.
(1) GM: Anyway....

(4) Kibin: (Forgot to put a bar when you left.)
(1) GM: Jason: That's understandable.... pitty I can't see through solid dirt. Hmm...... what is down there....
(1) GM: (details)
(6) Katsuro: (We were just about to hit rock bottom...I suggest disintegrate.)
(1) GM: (Move Earth - clears more area with less recources, and we're not worried about time)
(1) GM: (or at least, not on the scale involved)
(5) Kaylin: If we go for digging, I'll require 15 minutes to prepare a Move Earth spell...
(1) GM: Jason: Or... do you happen to have anything in the Summon Monster line prepared?
(4) Kibin: (Hmmm, what's the season? About how long till winter?)
(4) Kibin: Why would you need Summon Monster?
(5) Kaylin: No summon monsters...
(1) GM: Late fall. Couple of months.
(1) GM: It was "through the winter" that everyone was worried about, though.
(4) Kibin: (Yeah, so we got a couple of months.)
(4) Kibin: What's the summon monster for?
(5) Kaylin: Probably easiest just to use Move Earth... it's designed for this purpose, really.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, just an old trick I remembered a druid using... not a particularly strong druid, but he called up some kind of badger or other, which left a tunnel behind as it dug.
(4) Kibin: Which... couldn't I do?
** (5) Kaylin sits down and starts preparing a Move Earth **
(1) GM: Jason: Well, maybe..... how big can you manage?
(4) Kibin: About the size of a human, I guess.
(1) GM: Jason: Yeah, you could manage it, couldn't you - come to that, you did before; I think he called it a Dire Badger.....
(4) Kibin: (*wonders where that extra mass comes from*)
(6) Katsuro: (Hmph. It was a perfectly good trap.)
(6) Katsuro: ( :) )
(4) Kibin: Hmmm. Is that the one where I went into a blind range?
(1) GM: (nothing quite like having to redraw your map, is there?)
(4) Kibin: (rage*)
(1) GM: Jason: Yeah... almost killed you. I'd suggest trying something else if something annoying comes close.
(4) Kibin: Yeah, good idea.
(4) Kibin: I guess I'll see you over there?
(1) GM: Jason: Hmm? Actually, I was kinda thinking right here - I'm curious as to how deep those pillars actually go - especially if they aren't border markers.
(4) Kibin: Or was thsi to get rocks. Hmmm.
(1) GM: N Mayor: Boundray stones.
(4) Kibin: Ah.
** (4) Kibin shrugs, and goes ahead and uses Alternate Form to assume the shape of a Dire Beaver. **
(1) GM: S Mayor: Does the terminology matter all that much?
(1) GM: Jason: So, looking to stop up a river, are you?
** (4) Kibin starts digging, letting the dirt fill in the space behind him till he gets to the bottom of the pillar, then makes a diagonal path that someone could walk through back out. **
whispering to Kibin, Dire BEAVER? You find that the stone pillar goes all the way down to bedrock, and appears fused to it....
(4) Kibin: (Oookay, I meant dire badger.)
whispering to Kibin, And there's some dirt in them, but you think you can feel regularly shaped lines in the bedrock.
(4) Kibin (whispering): So if I go diagonally,where do I pop back out?
(1) GM: Kibin pops back out of the ground a short distance from the pillar.
** (4) Kibin goes back to his dragon form, saying, "The pillar is fused with the bedrock..." **
(6) Katsuro: "...Is the bedrock magical too?"
(4) Kibin: Um. Didn't really think to check. That, and badger hands aren't that good for the handwavy movements.
(4) Kibin: There's some regually shaped lined in the bedrock though, it seems
(1) GM: Jason: Think we should tell Kaylin?
(6) Katsuro: "Could you check, please?"
(6) Katsuro: *Mutter*...magical bedrock *Mutter*
(1) GM: Jason: Well, I suppose it's probably just as well she has a Move Earth anyway - we'll probably need it later, too.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, I'll look.
(1) GM: Detect Magic, level 0: Detects spells and magic items within 60 ft.
(4) Kibin: I could check... but Jason can cast more spells than me, so let's let him look.
(1) GM: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+22] -> [6,22] = (28)
(1) GM: After about half a minute or so, Jason comes back up, still concentrating, and studies the pillar as well.
(1) GM: Jason: Well, I can't make out the schools... but yes, there's a rather strong mixed aura; seems to be the same one.
(6) Katsuro: "...Right. It's never easy. Why is it never easy?"
(4) Kibin: Can you check how far out along the bedrock the aura lasts?
(1) GM: Jason: I suppose Detect Magic does penetrate dirt somewhat...
(1) GM: Still concentrating, Jason walks down undergound.....
(1) GM: Fifteen minutes later, he pops back up out of the ground, a considerable distance away.
(1) GM: ... in the direction of one of the other boundary stones.
** (4) Kibin flies over to where Jason is at, seeing how far it is away of one of the pillars. **
** (5) Kaylin finishes up her preparation **
(4) Kibin: Oh. Hmmm.
(1) GM: Jason walks back up to the party I ran out of time on the detect magic. It goes even further.
** (4) Kibin flies back with Jason, then... **
(5) Kaylin: What's going on now?
(6) Katsuro: "Perhaps go away from the boundary stones?"
(4) Kibin: The entire bedrock in the middle of the boundary stones seems to be magical?
(4) Kibin: And the pillars are physically joined somehow with the bedrock as well.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, nothing much, just looking into that pillar. The thing is fused to the bedrock, and it's magic heads off in the direction of the other boundary stones. I counted four trails leading off. No.. more like the specific lines in the bedrock, not all the bedrock... which makes it followable.
(1) GM: Jason: Would someone with hands and skill at magic better than my own like to take a look?
(5) Kaylin: I see...
(4) Kibin: Hmmm, so the lines go off to the other boundary stones...
(5) Kaylin: well, how about we clear away some space away from the pillars and take a look there?
(4) Kibin: I dug a neat diagonal tunnel down to one of the pillars.
(1) GM: Jason: I couldn't brush the dirt out of the way where Kibin cleared it down to the bedrock. You might have better luck, if you don't mind getting your hands dirty.
(4) Kibin: Up, rather.
(5) Kaylin: Seems a shame to not use this spell... I'll take a look at the pillar bases in a few minutes...
(6) Katsuro: (Move earth in front of a boundary stone, pointed away from the pentagram?)
(1) GM: "However, in no event can rock formations be collapsed or moved. The area to be affected determines the casting time. For every 150-foot square (up to 10 feet deep), casting takes 10 minutes. The maximum area, 750 feet by 750 feet, takes 4 hours and 10 minutes to move."
(4) Kibin: You could use it away from the pentagrams to get down to the bedrock...
(1) GM: She can move a LOT of dirt......
(5) Kaylin: All right...
(5) Kaylin: 3 sections for safety... hmm...
(5) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Move Earth ( level 6, "Digs trenches and builds hills." )
(1) GM: How long are you taking at it?
(5) Kaylin: (casting it away from the pillars, 3 sections forming a 450x150 rectangle)
(1) GM: So 30 minutes; how far away from the pillar?
** (4) Kibin doodles in the dirt away from the spellcasting while Kaylin is doing that. **
(5) Kaylin: (let's keep closest edge about 30 feet away)
(1) GM: After 30 minutes of glacially moving dirt, flowing at uphill and off to the sides Kaylin's command, you unearth the bedrock.....
(4) Kibin: Neat way to do exterior landscaping.
(1) GM: And see intricately detailed lines glinting in the sun, radiating out from the nearby pillar in four different directions.... towards where the other points would be in a pentagram.
(1) GM: The lines appear to be double lines with lots of strange and arcane sigils carved in, then filled in with some metal.
(4) Kibin: Well, guess it's a good thing I got bored and decided to go exploring the landscape, I guess.
(1) GM: Anyone have Craft in a metalworking skill, or an appropriet Knoweledge check? Appraise would also work.
(4) Kibin: Appraise Skill Check: [1d20+6] -> [1,6] = (7)
(5) Kaylin: (which Knowledge?)
(4) Kibin: (Sure, NOW it's a natural one...)
(4) Kibin: Knowledge: Arcana Skill Check: [1d20+5] -> [18,5] = (23)
(4) Kibin: (And knowledge: arcana, in case it's relavant.)
(5) Kaylin: Knowledge: Arcana Skill Check: [1d20+32] -> [2,32] = (34)
(4) Kibin: (And Kaylin always has a higher check. :P)
whispering to Kibin, They seem to be sigils similar to the ones used in a Calling Diagram.
(6) Katsuro: (Kensai need craft (Weapons and Armor) in case their weapon breaks, so I took that.)
(6) Katsuro: Craft Skill Check: [1d20+7] -> [7,7] = (14)
(5) Kaylin: (well, yeah, a wizard is a portable dictionary...)
(4) Kibin: Huh, they seem to be similar to sigils used in a calling diagram.
(6) Katsuro: (It isn't very good yet, though)
whispering to Kaylin, They're variations on the sigils used in a calling diagram - but it's focused oddly; and most aren't filled in with the metal.
whispering to Katsuro, It's filled with silver; Alchemical Silver, from the looks of it.
(5) Kaylin: Hmm... interesting...
whispering to Kibin, You have no idea why it's filled in with lead, though.
(5) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Arcane Sight ( level 3, "You can see all magical auras within 120 feet." )
(4) Kibin: Though no clue why it's filled with lead, so Kaylin probally knows more.
(5) Kaylin: (er, hang on. I already cast that...)
(6) Katsuro: "Alchemical silver, I think."
(5) Kaylin: (I *loathe* trying to change the spell list in openrpg)
whispering to Kaylin, Yep, magic. All connected. Power is actively flowing through them. Same schools as the pillar - Conjouration, Enchantment, and Abjouration. Would appear to be the same spell effect.
(4) Kibin: Oh. I could be wrong about it being lead.
(1) GM: (understandable - I've got something else set up for Jason's spell list. Didn't think of Elorin's method at the time)
(5) Kaylin: Well... seems similar to the pillars...
** (5) Kaylin checks outside the pentagram **
** (4) Kibin sees if he can understand what any of the sigils mean, if it's in a language he knows. **
whispering to Kaylin, The bedrock itself is perfectly mundane.
(6) Katsuro: (I need to BBSometime...Jack, want the node for Katsuro?)
(1) GM: Sure.
(6) Katsuro has sent you a tree node...
(6) Katsuro: (Sent.)
(1) GM: Received.
(4) Kibin: (Well I probally have to shut down the computer very soon anyway.)
(5) Kaylin: (I hope I was clear with the Move Earth casting... it should have excavated on both sides of the boundary line...)
(5) Kaylin: (If so, are there still diagram lines outside the boundary line between pillars?)
(1) GM: The lines do not extend outside the pentagram; if no other purpose is served, the boundary stones tell you where the corners of the effect are hiding.
(4) Kibin: (And.. I have to shut down now.)
(5) Kaylin: (bye)
(1) GM: Ah. 11'oclock on the east coast, yes.
(5) Kaylin: Looks like it'll be safe to convert this bedrock outside the boundary lines into your food.
(1) GM: Take care.
(1) GM: N Mayor: Ah, good. Definiately need to eat something. Good to know there's rocks we can safely eat.
(4) Kibin (exit): 20:07
(5) Kaylin: I'm sorry for all the delays, but with the amount of magic residing with these boundary stones, I really do not want to investigate too probingly just yet.
(5) Kaylin: Anyways, to work...
(5) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Stone to Flesh ( level 6, "Restores petrified creature." )
(5) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Stone to Flesh ( level 6, "Restores petrified creature." )
(5) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Stone to Flesh ( level 6, "Restores petrified creature." )
(5) Kaylin: Kaylin casts Stone to Flesh ( level 6, "Restores petrified creature." )
(1) GM: And you have four very large tubes of rubbery flesh.
(1) GM: The two mayors quickly start chopping away at them, and loading them into the wagons.
(1) GM: They'll be busy for a while.
** (5) Kaylin looks around at the pillars idly **
(1) GM: Spellcraft check?
(5) Kaylin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+37] -> [12,37] = (49)
(1) GM: First off, the pillars are four miles apart, at a minimum; you're looking at one at a time.
whispering to Kaylin, the pillar itself seems to have been produced by successive castings of Wall of Stone, with a little shape tweaking done with Shape Stone. They also seem to be around something.
(5) Kaylin: (well, seem like a good stopping point for this session?)
(5) Kaylin: (Now that we're down to 2...)
(1) GM: Yeah, time enough. Nothing pressing happening.....
(1) GM: So....

(1) GM: "See" you all in two weeks.
(5) Kaylin: See you!
(5) Kaylin: Disconnecting from server...
(5) Kaylin (exit): 20:17
Server Administrator-> Closing Server.....
Game disconnected!
