(1) GM: When we last left our heros, it was night, and the inn had just been blasted rather thourghally. And the blaster got away.

(1) GM: Pretty much. Hasn't returned. For now, let's just say he got a little too close to the demon, and it carried him off.

(1) GM: Anyway... you notice that the inn has caught fire. And you're still on the second floor.

** (3) Kibin flies down over the fire and out of the inn. And then flies around to see if the demon teleported to somewhere in the area. **

(1) GM: The wall was ripped off entire; there's no hole in the floor yet.....
(1) GM: Oh, and everyone except Kibin - [1d6] -> [2] = (2) fire damage.
(2) Katsuro: (Yeah, what I mean is can I hang onto the floor and drop down without landing in a fire.)
(4) Kaylin: (Any chance on extinguishing the fire or is it too big?)

(1) GM: You only need to make about five feet or so, horizontal.
(1) GM: Depends on what you're using.

(1) GM: You put out the fire in a ten-foot radius, granting you a small amount of breathing room. Onfortunatley, the fire was caused by effects with 20 foot radii....
(2) Katsuro: (I watch Kibin to see if he spots anything.)
** (3) Kibin flies at a safe distance from the fire, seeing how much of the fire he can put out with his freezing breath weapon. **
(1) GM: And Katsuro makes it to the ground safely.
(1) GM: Kaylin - you're standing alone in a burning building. What do you do?
(1) GM: You're in a chilly spot of it.

(1) GM: Kaylin trips over her robes and lands face-first on the ground in front of her.

(1) GM: The building collapses. Kaylin, reflex save.
(2) Katsuro: (Shouldn't someone be yelling 'Fire!'?)

(3) Kibin: (I don't suppose Kaylin is anorexic and weighs under 50 pounds?)

(2) Katsuro: (That wouldn't be anorexic. That would be dead.)

(4) Kaylin: (That was quick collapse :/)
(1) GM: Well lets see... it lasted a few rounds of combat after the wall was ripped off, and took quite a few blasts from area affect fire damage, and was then burning for two rounds.... it should have collapsed a while back.
** (3) Kibin swoops in to attempt to drag Kaylin out from the collapsing building quickly... **
(1) GM: And kaylin, take [8d6/2] -> 11.0 damage from the collapse.
(1) GM: As the wood and roof hit you on your back.
(4) Kaylin: Ow... hey, are there people still inside?
(1) GM: And Kaylin - you're pinned under the rubble.
(1) GM: Kaylin is, unfortunately, not immediately accessable.
** (2) Katsuro starts moving rubble to get people out. **
** (3) Kibin then goes push rubble off of Kaylin, and other people as nessecary. **
(2) Katsuro: (Using Power Surge for any big pieces.)
** (4) Kaylin activates her Shapechange spell-like ability and shapeshifts into a Wraith **
(1) GM: Concentration check?

(2) Katsuro: (Anybody coming after I called 'Fire!"?)
(1) GM: And Kaylin gets out.

(1) GM: After a few moments, a bunch of people start piling out of the other buildings, and fetching buckets.
(1) GM: A few guys come out with small waterskins, say something, and then brace themselves as powerful jets of water spray from the waterskins onto the fire.
(1) GM: Those with buckets systemically wet down the surrounding buildings.
(1) GM: After a while, the inn is a smoldering, burned-out wreck, but the rest of the town just smells of smoke.

(1) GM: You find that it seems everyone manage to get out in time - most had started running when the wall was ripped off.

(1) GM: The inkeeper looks like he's in shock. He's covered in smoke, and holing a (now empty) bucket.

(1) GM: Inkeeper: Well... at least everyone's out....

(4) Kaylin: I'm so sorry... it was probably our fault the inn was attacked by a devil...

(1) GM: Inkeeper: Will need to get the village priest to go over it with a fine-tooth comb, though, just so customers can feel safe again.
** (4) Kaylin continues to look guilty, and gives the innkeeper 45 platinum pieces out of her bag... her money supplies are looking a bit scanty now, but at least she's morally happier. **
(4) Kaylin: Good luck with that. Once again, I'm sorry for the trouble.
(1) GM: Inkeeper: Thanks. Not that there's an inn for me to stay in, what with mine being the only one in town. We'll rebuild. Did a few years ago.
(1) GM: Inkeeper: I've got some friends that should be willing to put me up for a while.
(4) Kaylin: All right. Take care, then.
** (4) Kaylin walks back to the group **
(1) GM: Inkeeper: You too. Especially since you seemed to be the target....
(1) GM: So, it's about midnight.
** (3) Kibin goes fly up to rest on a cloud. Inside the cloud this time, so noone can see him easily. **
(2) Katsuro: (Do we still have the wagon and carrage?)
(3) Kibin: (Never realized how low level he must be...)
(1) GM: Yeah. Wooden constructs don't like fire.
(1) GM: All the stuff is fine.
** (2) Katsuro stretches out in the carraige and goes back to sleep. **
(4) Kaylin: Probably won't see the devil again for a while...
(1) GM: The rest of the evening passes uneventfully.
** (4) Kaylin sits cross-legged in a corner of the wagon and meditates **
(1) GM: Morning, rather....
(1) GM: The next day, what does everyone do?
(2) Katsuro: (Well, presumably toiletries come in somewhere...)
** (3) Kibin flies down to the group, asking, "Didn't we leave a rather large amount of silver back at those stones?" **
** (4) Kaylin returns to consciousness and prepares spells for an hour, true to the morning ritual. **
(1) GM: (Do remember that you can't refresh the spell slots you expended last night, as they were cast within the last eight hours.....)
(4) Kaylin: (I can't meditate for 8 hours and hope nobody bugs me?)
(1) GM: I suppose you could.
(1) GM: It would only put your morning preparations finishing at about nine oclock.
(4) Kaylin: (not too bad)
(1) GM: Okay, so at nine....
(3) Kibin: (Chibi warhammer...
(2) Katsuro: "Yes, but I think it would cout as the proporty of whoevers' land it's on."
(3) Kibin: Ah.

(1) GM: (Everyone would be out of the spells fixed range)
(3) Kibin: Well legally, it's unclaimed land, since the mayors officially sold it to each other and thus neither can claim it...
(3) Kibin: (Anyone next to the runes (close enough to read them) takes the full damage with no saving throw)
(3) Kibin: (Thus none of them would get a save, and there would be a secondary effect for people within 10 feet of the runes...)
(2) Katsuro: "Wouldn't that be fifty-fity ownership?"
(4) Kaylin: Well... the silver isn't being used, but are you sure it wouldn't be more trouble than it's worth to pull it out of those lines?
(2) Katsuro: (Talking quietly.)
(4) Kaylin: Wait. I'm talking to a dragon. Silly question.
(3) Kibin: No, because destroying that stone uprooted all the silver into a ball...
(1) GM: (If you want to be strict RAW, sure; in practice, though, it's rediculous to say that would work)
(3) Kibin: (Heh. Well, I just came up with a better weapon than the book filled with explosive runes and a failed dispel check...)
(1) GM: (sort of like technically, second edition fumbles could result in the arrow you just fired hitting an ally in the back who's currenly on a different plane)
(3) Kibin: (Whoa. O.o)
(1) GM: (Yeah, there are limits to my RAW tolerance)
(4) Kaylin: If you must take the silver, at least split it equally three ways between us and the two towns.
(3) Kibin: Meh, fine.
(1) GM: So, what's everyone doing?
(2) Katsuro: (Breakfast.)
(1) GM: Oh, yes - Elorin does prepare his daily Feast for everyone.
** (3) Kibin joins in the breakfast. **

(1) GM: And Elorin is up to his usual semi-divine cooking skills.
(1) GM: And all of you feel ready to face whatever may come your way, after.

(1) GM: So, heading off to the plain to collect the silver ball, or what?
(3) Kibin: (*needs support in collecting the silver ball first.*)
(4) Kaylin: (If Kibin really wants to and agrees to split it, then I'll help)

(4) Kaylin: (then I'll help)
(1) GM: So off to the big ball of silver you go.
(1) GM: What travel method do you prefer?
(3) Kibin: (Monty Python still makes everything better.)
** (3) Kibin flies over to the silver ball ahead of time to start cutting it into small cubic foot sized pieces with his adamantine sword. **
(4) Kaylin: (how long would it take to get there via animated carriage?)
(1) GM: It takes a long time. Unfortunately, it's a big grouping of tangled silver bars, so they don't come out anything like even.
(1) GM: About a day. They move a little faster than regular horse-drawn carriages.
(1) GM: And the bars are quite dirty, what with having been buried for a time.
(3) Kibin: (Well, pieces that can be more easily transported anyway at least.)
(1) GM: Putting them anywhere?
(3) Kibin: (Fitting as much as I can in the portable hole.)
(1) GM: You manage to fit it all into the portable hole, after cutting them up, although now "hole" is a misnomer. You can just barely close it.
(1) GM: You wouldn't want to stand on top of it, though, what with all the sharp pointy bits.
** (3) Kibin folds it back up and then flies over to the party if they're still on route to tell them that he's done. :P **
(1) GM: Kibin finishes up about the time the rest of the party arrives in the silent cloud/wagon
(3) Kibin: Well, done now...
(1) GM: And it's evening.
(4) Kaylin: Something tells me we're going to run into that devil tonight... they just don't want to leave us alone.
(3) Kibin: Gate to a safer plane to sleep at?
(2) Katsuro: (I'll probably be cutting out randomly - Dad's doing woodwork and might need help.)
(4) Kaylin: (Would being on a different plane make us safer from being scryed on?)
(3) Kibin: (No. But it would interfere with teleportation, for one.)
(1) GM: From scrying, being on a different plane confers a +4 Will save bonus. And makes teleportation tricky.
(4) Kaylin: (Oh, I thought they could traverse the planes...)
(3) Kibin: (That, and we get +5 on will saves.)
(1) GM: Once a year, they can do basically anything they want.
(3) Kibin: (Also, sleeping on a good aligned plane would give us the advantage.)
(1) GM: (Ah, yep - +5, not +4)
(3) Kibin: (Not to mention the perks if we sleep on, say, the celestial plane. : )
(4) Kaylin: Well... sure, another plane would be a good place to rest.
(4) Kaylin: Any one in particular?
(2) Katsuro: (Don't teleportation difficulties apply to us, too?)
(1) GM: (Between Plane Shift and Gate?)
(3) Kibin: (You mean while we have gate, a handy 9th level spell that lets you walk through a doorway to ANY POSITION on ANY PLANE?)
(4) Kaylin: (Not with Gate, as far as I can tell)
(2) Katsuro: (I dunno, I'm not playing a wizard, not looking at spells constantly.)
(3) Kibin: Um... something where demons would have a hard time getting to or surviving there? Like a place with a lot of celestials?)

(1) GM: (Gate's a nifty - commonly considered one of the omost overpowered spells in existence)

(3) Kibin: And if any of us die, we just wake up the next day!
(4) Kaylin: Sounds ideal, then.

(1) GM: And after fifteen minutes, and a casting, and a little walking through the gate, you all find yourselves..... at a location of Kaylin's choosing.

(1) GM: And it's big enough. I think.

(3) Kibin: (How long does it take for the true ressurection effect?)
(1) GM: It happens "the next morning" for those who died in the propper battle fields.....

(1) GM: Little kids carry platters of meat, jugs of mead, and lots of other things.
(1) GM: They welcome you to the feast.
** (2) Katsuro looks around curiously. **
(1) GM: The meat appears to be pork. Lots of it. Although, from the size of the pices, they come from bigger pigs than you've ever seen.
(4) Kaylin: Oh, Katsuro, you haven't been here before, have you?
(1) GM: The platters are wooden, and everyone appears to use their own knives. No forks are in evidence.
(2) Katsuro: "No...And I didn't expect to be alive, either."
(4) Kaylin: Alive? I'm not sure what you mean...
(3) Kibin: I think he means not yet in his afterlife...
(4) Kaylin: Oh, all right. Well, Katsuro, join in! Lots of food...

(4) Kaylin: Well, it turns out that the whole pillar thing was built by an ancient group of mages... they wanted to increase their own power; that's where the blob came in.

(4) Kaylin: When we freed the blob, the silver clustered together, and we got it cashed in at a bank into platinum pieces.
(1) GM: Mayor: And I take it you recovered the silver.....

(4) Kaylin: Well, we did take some for ourselves. But your folks probably need it more than ours.

(1) GM: Mayor: Officially, we both gave up claim on it in return for the food. We were rather careful on how we worded that. If anyone compares notes, we didn't exactly sell it..... so it's open for farmsteading, mining, and the like. Still, should help next time there's a famine.... if I can convince people I got it honestly, somehow.

(3) Kibin: Then perhaps encourage them to not get as intimate with each other?

(1) GM: Shanhara: They're so unthinking. When I tone down their thoughts, sure... but that's exactly what you've been objecting to. You see?

(1) GM: There's a knife in the skeleton's hand, and it is in her own heart.
** (17) Kaylin turns herself into a Planetar and flies over to the altar **

(2) Katsuro: "Somehow I don't think it was just my shooting."
