Server Administrator-> You have connected to an OpenRPG server, version '1.6.1'.
Welcome to Jack Simth's temporary server!
I put this up just for
a short gaming session on Saturday, and stop it after.
Session is schedualed for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.
(1) GM: Ping
(2) Kibin (enter): 09:49
(2) Kibin: Hello!
(1) GM: Morning. Or afternoon, for you, as I recall.
(3) Seshra (enter): 09:50
(1) GM: Morning.
(3) Seshra: morning
(2) Kibin: I've wondered something... how does mere possession of one of those orbs of dragonkind earn the eminity of all dragons forever? Do they have some sort of yearly conference that they all go to to discuss things like that?
(1) GM: Nah, there's a stench about them that sticks to your soul forever.
(1) GM: Which dragons can detect, of course.
(2) Kibin: Ah.
(2) Kibin: Too bad douglas can't come.
(1) GM: Hmm. And he was the only one closely tied to The King's next target. Oh well.
(2) Kibin: I thought we were going to stop the king first, and not have to worry about stopping the raids?
(2) Kibin: Looks like it's more miniadventure...
(3) Seshra: huh, thought Narf was going to be here
(2) Kibin: He tends to always sleep in late.
(2) Kibin: Mini-campaign, then?
(1) GM: Apparently.
(2) Kibin: Or I could run one of the wizards of the coasts adventures...
(1) GM: You want to DM?
(2) Kibin: Yeah, I've done it before... but people randomly selected from the official chatroom tend to not be good players.
(3) Seshra: brb
(3) Seshra: Disconnecting from server...
(3) Seshra (exit): 10:08
(2) Kibin: Just need a level, and a few minutes to read through the adventure and prepare!
(1) GM: [1d20] -> [9] = (9)
(2) Kibin: Level 9, then?
(1) GM: Works.
(1) GM: Let's see... what's a good 9th level build...
(1) GM: Also, what sources?
(2) Kibin: Would two gestalt players on a campaign balanced for the standard party of four be balanced?
(2) Kibin: 'Core' along with the four primary complete books, I suppose.
(2) Kibin: And other books that I may have, like the dragonimicon.
(2) Kibin: Four campaigns to choose from...
(1) GM: Not normally, no. With a party of two, you drop about 2 from the CR of critters you'll be facing, and watch carefully for things like missing skills
(1) GM: (e.g., no trap-monkey).
(1) GM: With Gestalt, you increase the things you'll be facing by about 1 CR.
(1) GM: So well-designed, two gestalt-9's would face off against an adventure for a party of four 8 level characters. Roughly.
(4) Seshra (enter): 10:11
(2) Kibin: I'll work with a level 7 adventure then, no gestalt.
(2) Kibin: The random number generator has decided the level to be level 9.
(2) Kibin: Most sources allowed as long as I have it of course.
(4) Seshra: so... NA's DMing a premade adventure?
(1) GM: Looks like.
(4) Seshra: ok
(1) GM: [Bad dice format] - [4d6.takehighest(3)]
(1) GM: [Bad dice format] - [4d6.droplowest(1)]
(1) GM: [4d6] -> [1,3,2,6] = (12)
(1) GM: [4d6] -> [3,1,5,6] = (15)
(1) GM: [4d6] -> [5,4,5,2] = (16)
(1) GM: [4d6] -> [5,5,2,4] = (16)
(1) GM: [4d6] -> [4,4,5,2] = (15)
(1) GM: [4d6] -> [4,3,5,2] = (14)
(2) Kibin: 28 point buy, you don't need to roll for stats.
(1) GM: Hopeless character clause anyway.
(2) Kibin: Hopeless character clause?
(1) GM: After the drop lowest, there was no roll of a 15 or better.
(4) Seshra: nor was there one lower than 11... interesting
(2) Kibin: There were two 16's.
(1) GM: Drop lowest puts those at 14.
(2) Kibin: 12, 15, 16,16,15, and 14 is pretty good.
(2) Kibin: Oh, right, drop lowest.
(1) GM: So that was 11, 14, 14, 14, 13, 12
(4) Seshra: ok, 9th level... Jack, any preferences on class?
(1) GM: I was going to try for a Druid, just because they're reasonable generalists. Decent HP, can arrange for decent damage.
(1) GM: Cleric's good too.
(1) GM: Yourself?
(4) Seshra: not sure... thinking about going for an archer this time
(1) GM: Oh, one question; does Natural Bond mitigate the level adjustment on advanced animal companions?
(4) Seshra: Kibin, only SRD stuff for this?
(2) Kibin: No, any books I have.
(2) Kibin: What book is Natural Bond in?
(4) Seshra: And you have a really nice collection, it seems
(1) GM: I think it was Complete Adventurer... let me double-check.
(2) Kibin: Eh, in a sense I borrowed all of them.
(1) GM: Yep, Complete Adventurer.
(2) Kibin: Also, I reserve the right to prohibit certain spells such as that illusionary pit spell.
(1) GM: Yeah. Save AND die spells are kinda broken.
(2) Kibin: It's technically a save and lose spell.
(1) GM: You die because you can't oppose the Fighter's Power Attack Full Attack.
(1) GM: And the text of Natural Bond:
(1) GM: Text: "Benefit: Add three to your effective druid level for the purpose of determining the bonus Hit Dice, extra tricks, special abilities, and other bonuses that your animal companion receives (see page 36 of the Player's Handbook). This bonus can never make your effective druid level exceed your character level."
(2) Kibin: Yeah, looking at it.
(1) GM: Cool.
(1) GM: Flying Gnome Druid!
(2) Kibin: Your character level doesn't change, so no, it doesn't negate the penalty for advanced druid creatures.
(1) GM: Compare to the advanced animal companion entry, though:
(2) Kibin: It just lets you multiclass into three levels of something else, without losing animal companion progression.
(1) GM: "A druid of sufficiently high level can select her animal companion from one of the following lists, applying the indicated adjustment to the druid’s level (in parentheses) for purposes of determining the companion’s characteristics and special abilities."
(1) GM: You've got an adjustment to the druid's level for determining charateristics and special abilities (down) vs. a bonus to your effective druid level for determining such.
(1) GM: So 16, 16, 14, 10, 8, 8 would be a reasonable 28 point array...
(2) Kibin: I still think it wasn't meant to do that, though. It would also put your animal companion in the situation of actually having more hitdice than you.
(1) GM: Fair enough.
(4) Seshra: Hmm, changed my mind. Going for Monk..
(4) Seshra: Kibin, do you have the Complete Warrior sourcebook handy?
(1) GM: And +2 selectable for levels 4 and 8, correct?
(2) Kibin: My 'borrowed' PDF, yes.
(2) Kibin: Yes, of course you get the +1 to an attribute at every 4 levels.
(1) GM: Standard 36k Wealth?
(1) GM: Also, any restrictions?
(2) Kibin: Yup.
(2) Kibin: Um.... restrictions would be the standard no one item can be more than half of your wealth, I suppose.
(2) Kibin: Any way to grab a picture from a PDF?
(1) GM: Yeah; hard to put it in here, though, as Copy/Paste doesn't work so hot.
(2) Kibin: Ah, okay.
(5) Quinn Padfoot (enter): 10:31
(1) GM: Morning.
(2) Kibin: Aw.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Yaay, I got here before the half-hour!)
(2) Kibin: I guess playing god will have to wait.
(1) GM: Okay.
(1) GM: So, main campaign?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (I dunno - Can we win it?)
(1) GM: The only way to win is to have fun. Which is why Pun-Pun always looses.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (...I dunno. I've got this unreasonable annoyance with loosing.)
(1) GM: Ah. How does mutual destruction, sound (like when killing a Balor in melee when low on HP?)
(2) Kibin: I like my character, though...
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Hmm...Sounds like a cool ending. And Quinn could make one last sarcastic remark before the roof comes down.)
(2) Kibin: Maybe instead of ending like that, we could simply put the campaign aside if we ever want to play it again?
(1) GM: Well, I'm having trouble locating anything that does Epic experience levels on my budget. Which puts a crimp into Epic play.
(1) GM: Anyway.....
Moving to room 'D and D'..

(2) Kibin: (http://projects.incorporeal.org/d20-tools/)
(2) Kibin: (( Like that?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (What's the future campaign like?)
(1) GM: Test Test
(2) Kibin: (Works just fine for epic experience from what I can see.
(1) GM: Looks like.
(1) GM: You can check the logs, if you like. Lots of desert hiking and some desert animals.
(1) GM: Anyway....
(1) GM:
(1) GM: When we last left our heroes....
(2) Kibin: (Our heads were in the clouds.)
(1) GM: They were looking at how to properly attack The King Blob.
(2) Kibin: "We could find a way to cut off his connection to the other planes..."
(5) Quinn Padfoot: "I can bend reality. And there's the wish spell..."
** (5) Quinn Padfoot starts licking a paw. * Was I just helpfull? Naaah... **
(4) Seshra: "Can you bend the world enough to stop this king? Reality tends to want to resist..."
(1) GM: Jason: Well, I have been studying up on how to block planar travel. Want to see?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (BRB)
(4) Seshra: "Umm... from a safe distance, perhaps."
(1) GM: Jason: Ah, it doesn't last that long. Besides, it should make this pretty green color....
(4) Seshra: "Oh, that. I'm not sure I've seen any evidence of him using transplanar travel, though."
(5) Quinn Padfoot: "A spell that blocks planer travel and an ability that could enhance it's power..." * Gee, two plus two equals?
(2) Kibin: "Yes.... but he gets energy and power from other dimensions, correct?"
(2) Kibin: "And his connection with the elemental plane of air is messed up, thus he can't fly."
(2) Kibin: "So what if all of four still functioning connections are messed up?"
** (4) Seshra grins at the mention of the Plane of Air **
(4) Seshra: "First thing to do would be sever the connection to the Negative Energy plane, then. I felt so weak after he hit me..."
(1) GM: Elorin: That, I should be able to deal with, with a little time before the fight, anyway.
(2) Kibin: "Blocking dimensional travel might sever the connection to the other planes..."
(4) Seshra: "That would be most helpful."
(1) GM: Elorin: Should be a benefit, at least, yes. I'm worried he's still figuring out what all he can do.
(2) Kibin: "But without connections to the other planes, he has none of those other abilities..."
(1) GM: Elorin: So, how did the kidney shots go?
(4) Seshra: (hmm...)
(4) Seshra: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+34] -> [2,34] = (36)
(4) Seshra: (How are elementals usually created?)
(2) Kibin: "Um. Couldn't hit his kidneys..."
whispering to Seshra, Normally, they just kind of splinter off from the essence of the planes.
(1) GM: Elorin: Despite the fact that he was destracted. You think the others might still be there?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: Knowledge: The Planes: How might the connection be severed?: [1d20+22] -> [3,22] = (25)
(2) Kibin: "Possibly..."
(2) Kibin: (Dang it, stop rolling low.)
(4) Seshra: "At least for the air elementals, they were created here... that implies to me that perhaps the other planes were brought to the Material, so tthere might not be a connection to sever."
whispering to Quinn Padfoot, Difficult to say. You're looking at a fairly unique effect you've never encountered before.
(2) Kibin: "Ah. There goes easy way, then..."
whispering to Quinn Padfoot, Still, there are some effects that block planar travel, and they *might* do something.
(4) Seshra: "It's worth trying anyways. I could be wrong, and then the work would be much easier."
(5) Quinn Padfoot: "Of course, there's the question of what effects will severe the theoretical connection..." * I hate not knowing stuff.
(1) GM: Jason: Oh, here, let me show you something that might work...
(1) GM: Dimensional Anchor, Level 4: Bars extradimensional movement.
(1) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (base): [1d20+7] -> [5,7] = (12) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(1) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (second): [1d20+2] -> [18,2] = (20) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
** (4) Seshra flinches on recognising the spell **
(1) GM: Jason misses Quinn completely with the Green ray.
(1) GM: Jason: Ah, drat. Let's try that again.....
** (5) Quinn Padfoot hisses at Jason. **
(4) Seshra: "I think that was fine... no need to get carried away."
(5) Quinn Padfoot: * Do Not surpise the Cat!
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (* surprise
(5) Quinn Padfoot: * )
(1) GM: Jason: Okay. But it's such a neat spell. I haven't had a decent chance to use it yet.
(2) Kibin: "Why not me? I have that cloak of etheralness that I can test it with."
(1) GM: Jason: Ah, perfect!
(4) Seshra: "The spell works...aagh."
(1) GM: Dimensional Anchor, Level 4: Bars extradimensional movement.
(1) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (base): [1d20+7] -> [3,7] = (10) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(1) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (second): [1d20+2] -> [18,2] = (20) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(1) GM: Jason: Not that I can hit the broad side of a barn, today.....
(1) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (base): [1d20+7] -> [8,7] = (15) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(1) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (second): [1d20+2] -> [3,2] = (5) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(1) GM: Dimensional Anchor, Level 4: Bars extradimensional movement.
(1) GM: Holding perfectly still, Jason finally manages to tag Kibin with a ray....
(1) GM: And he's coated in a shimmering emerald barrier.
(1) GM: Jason: See? Such a pretty color.
** (2) Kibin utters the word to use his cloak of etheralness... **
(4) Seshra: "I suppose it could be."
(1) GM: And nothing happens.
(1) GM: Jason: Well, shall we go? We seem to have most of a battle plan.
(4) Seshra: "We might want to let the dragon use his cloak before we head off."
(2) Kibin: "Uh.... can you dispel that effect first?"
(1) GM: Jason blinks.
(1) GM: Jason: Dispel?
(2) Kibin: "Dismiss it, whatever."
(1) GM: Jason: It's not dismissable. It should go away in about fifteen minutes or so....
(5) Quinn Padfoot: * Is there any chance a ghost could be smoking something?
(2) Kibin: "I guess we wait fifteen minutes then..."
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Er, will we have enough time to cast Reality Revision/Wish?)
(1) GM: (A standard action?)
(4) Seshra: (casting time is 1 standard action..)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Huh. For some reason, I keep thinking it's 24 hours.)
(1) GM: Well, unless anyone does anything particularly meaningful, fifteen minutes later, the shimmering emerald finally fades from Kibin.
** (4) Seshra hums a little tune **
whispering to Kibin, And you can see colors other than Green again!
(2) Kibin: "Yay, I can escape danger with my cloak again."
(1) GM: Jason: Well, shall we be off?
Elorin casts Wind Walk ( level 6, "You and your allies turn vaporous and travel fast" )
Elorin can cast Wind Walk 98 more times
Elorin casts Level 6 Spell ( level 6, "Spell slot tracking device" )
Elorin can cast Level 6 Spell 5 more times
(2) Kibin: "Sure."
(2) Kibin: "What's the plan again?"
(1) GM: Jason: Well, I zap him with my green ray, the rest of you pound on him from out of reach.
(4) Seshra: "Hmm... not sure for you. I'm mostly going to be flying a few hundred feet up and dropping magic."
(1) GM: Elorin: And just before we go in, I've got a few spells to cast.
(4) Seshra: (That reminds me, Restoring lost levels doesn't return spell slots, does it?)
(4) Seshra: (er, negative levels)
(1) GM: No, they are gone "as though cast"
(1) GM: So... calling a halt for a night to stock up?
(4) Seshra: (I'm fine for now. Won't be able to use the biggest guns, but I've got plenty of 6th level slots left.)
(1) GM: Okay.
(1) GM: So you all head over at 50 mph by way of Wind Walk (Jason hitching a ride in Winddancer).
(1) GM: You again approach the Seven Spires.
(1) GM: Six have various forms of elementals creeping out of the holes at the base.
(4) Seshra: (Weren't we hiding on top of the Air spire?)
(1) GM: Sorry, I lost track. Yep.
Elorin casts Death Ward ( level 4, "Grants immunity to death spells and negative energy effects" )
Elorin can cast Death Ward 98 more times
Elorin casts Death Ward ( level 4, "Grants immunity to death spells and negative energy effects" )
Elorin can cast Death Ward 97 more times
Elorin casts Death Ward ( level 4, "Grants immunity to death spells and negative energy effects" )
Elorin can cast Death Ward 96 more times
Elorin casts Death Ward ( level 4, "Grants immunity to death spells and negative energy effects" )
Elorin can cast Death Ward 95 more times
Elorin casts Death Ward ( level 4, "Grants immunity to death spells and negative energy effects" )
Elorin can cast Death Ward 94 more times
Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
Elorin can cast Level 4 Spell 4 more times
Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
Elorin can cast Level 4 Spell 3 more times
Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
Elorin can cast Level 4 Spell 2 more times

Elorin can cast Level 4 Spell 1 more time
Elorin casts Level 4 Spell ( level 4, "Spell slot tracking device" )
Elorin can cast Level 4 Spell 0 more times
(1) GM: Elorin puts a Death ward on everyone ...
(1) GM: Then he cringes and clutches his head.
(4) Seshra: "What's wrong?"
(1) GM: Elorin shakes his head and waves his hands around a few times.
(1) GM: Elorin: She's not there.....
(1) GM: Inside the central spire, you hear a decidedly feminine shreik.
(4) Seshra: "That's not her, is it?"
(2) Kibin: "Um. She's not there? Who's she?"
(1) GM: Elorin: Elhonnia..... and while I've never heard her scream....
(2) Kibin: "Uh.... why is she here?"
(4) Seshra: "Because the king is hungry. Let's hurry!"
** (4) Seshra starts diving towards the entrance **
(1) GM: You see some greenery grow out of the top of the central spire.
(1) GM: Everyone (except Elorin, still clutching his head) follows.
** (2) Kibin follows, fading back to normalness as he goes along. Since you can't attack while ghosty. **
** (5) Quinn Padfoot follows Seshra. **
(1) GM: Floor entrance or top entrance?
(4) Seshra: (top, if it's reachable)
(1) GM: Everyone's flight-enabled (for once), and yes, it is.
(1) GM: At the base, you see a few elementals guarding the door, turning away some early-returning air elementals with people.
(1) GM: You recognize them; they're some of those who were running around Quinn's city.
** (4) Seshra grrs **
(1) GM: Inside the tower, you see the king caressing a woman.
(1) GM: She looks like she was pretty... but she seems wilted.
(1) GM: Like a plant starved of water.
(1) GM: The inside of the tower is coated in greenery.
(1) GM: The King: Oh... and I thought humans were tasty.....
(4) Seshra: Knowledge: Religion Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [11,18] = (29)
whispering to Seshra, Yep, Elhonnia, in the flesh, looking surprisingly helpless.
(1) GM: The King: But you....
(4) Seshra: "Zap time..."
(1) GM: The King flexes his back, the the plants grow several more feet; many of them bloom.
(4) Seshra: (How far above them are we?)
(1) GM: The King pulls his hand away from her flesh momentarily, and you can see some green lines of energy going from Elhonnia's flesh to The King's hand.
(1) GM: About 100 feet.
(4) Seshra: "Where's a protection caster when you need one..."
(1) GM: The King: Ah, visitors..... well, could use some garnish.
(1) GM: Roll for initiative.
(1) GM: [1d20+10] -> [20,10] = (30)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: Dex check: [1d20+5] -> [6,5] = (11)
(1) GM: Dex check: [1d20+5] -> [20,5] = (25)
(4) Seshra: Dex check: [1d20+5] -> [8,5] = (13)
(1) GM: Kibin? Initiative?
(2) Kibin: Dex check: [1d20+3] -> [1,3] = (4)
(1) GM: The King, Jason, Seshra, Quinn, Kibin.
(1) GM: The King: Ah, come on down to meet me, would you?
(1) GM: The rock surrounding you reshapes, closing over your heads, and yanks you down rather rapidly.
(1) GM: So... do you prefer to make Reflex saves to avoid getting battered, or Strength checks to break the rock?
(1) GM: If you avoid, you can't stand and push back; if you stand and push back, you can't avoid.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: Reflex save: [1d20+11] -> [20,11] = (31)
(4) Seshra: Reflex save: [1d20+14] -> [18,14] = (32)
(1) GM: Reflex save: [1d20+15] -> [7,15] = (22)
(2) Kibin: Reflex save: [1d20+21] -> [15,21] = (36)
(1) GM: Everone manages to get out of the way of the moving wall of rock fast enough not to get harmed as it quickly slams down..... but you're now stuck in a much shorter chamber, about 15 feet high. And The King is 10 feet tall.
(1) GM: The King briefly touches the cieling, and grins.
(1) GM: Jason: Quit that!
(1) GM: Dimensional Anchor, Level 4: Bars extradimensional movement.
(1) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (base): [1d20+7] -> [8,7] = (15) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(1) GM: Touch Attack, for use with spells (second): [1d20+2] -> [8,2] = (10) ===> Damage: [Bad dice format] - [0d0+0]
(1) GM: The King just kinda steps out of the way.
(1) GM: The King: I'd rather not, thanks.
(1) GM: Seshra?
** (4) Seshra tries to disintegrate the ceiling and get some height. **
(4) Seshra: (casting defensively, of course)
(4) Seshra: Concentration Skill Check: [1d20+27] -> [13,27] = (40)
(1) GM: That'll pass.
(4) Seshra: Seshra Menander casts Disintegrate ( level 6, "Ranged touch at Medium range deals 2d6/level. Fort DC 28 partial (5d6), or disintegrates 10-ft. cube of nonliving matter." )
(1) GM: And you remove a 10-foot cube of the roof above you. Finding out, the hard way, that the rock didn't so much move as grow inwards..... still, you've got a cubby that's probably out of his reach....
(1) GM: I take it you step into it?
(4) Seshra: (I think so, yes...)
(1) GM: Quinn?
(1) GM: Narf? You awake?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Back)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Sorry, thought I was further down the initiative order and put a pot of water on the stove.)
(1) GM: Kibin is next, then back to the King.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (What would be a good wish spell to block him off from his abilities?)
(1) GM: Hard to say. Pick something and run with it.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: ("I revise reality so the king is blocked from as many of his abilities as reasonably possible?")
(5) Quinn Padfoot: ("I revise reality so the king is blocked from as many of his combat-usefull abilities as reasonably possible?")
(2) Kibin: ("I revise reality so that all planar connections into the king would be severed and stay severed.")
(1) GM: Hmm... you're trying to affect him reasonably directly... SR penetration check?
(4) Seshra: (C'mon, roll high..)
(1) GM: PR penetration, under transparency.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (What's a PR penatration roll based on?)
(1) GM: Manifester Level.
(4) Seshra: (manifester level)
(1) GM: Modified by relavant feats.
(4) Seshra: (1d20+level)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (And I'll go with "I revise reality so that all planar connections into the king are severed and stay severed as long as can be managed.")
(1) GM: Penetration check?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (I've got Greater Power Penatration...)
(1) GM: The use of which costs your Psionic Focus.
(1) GM: Still, roll with it; it's a +8 bonus.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Quinn would be psionically focused.)
(2) Kibin: (COMEON DICE!)
(4) Seshra: (yeah, that's pretty nice...)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: [1d20+26] -> [14,26] = (40)
(2) Kibin: (Be in our favor!)
(1) GM: And that will penetrate SR.
(4) Seshra: (awesome :)
(1) GM: A green barrier shimmers and surrounds The King. Doesn't seem to impede his movement any, though. Although he does seem briefly woozy.
(1) GM: The King: Whoa, what's this trick?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Now hit him with everything we've got!)
(2) Kibin: (ATTAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!)
(1) GM: Kibin?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (I'll be a bit busy making food...)
** (2) Kibin dives at the king, slashing him with a claw. **
(1) GM: Attack and damage rolls?
(2) Kibin: (Dive, so double damage on the attack.)
(1) GM: How far do you have to dive to pull that off? You've got a scant five feet over his head before the cieling, remember.
(2) Kibin: Claws (base): [1d20+24] -> [4,24] = (28) ===> Damage: [1d4+5] -> [2,5] = (7)
(2) Kibin: (Descend at least 10 feet, so I would be on the ground now.)
(1) GM: Your claws scrape on his mithral armor.
(1) GM: The King: Ah, aren't you just the cutest?
(1) GM: The king quickly draws a greatsword and tries for Kibin.
(2) Kibin: (Dodge target is the king, of course.)
(1) GM: [1d20+32] -> [17,32] = (49) for [3d6+5+16+12] -> [3,3,2,5,16,12] = (41)
(1) GM: And follows up with his additional attacks...
(4) Seshra: (Wow, he could potentially hit the massive damage threshold...)
(1) GM: [1d20+27] -> [17,27] = (44) for [3d6+5+16+12] -> [2,1,4,5,16,12] = (40)
(1) GM: [1d20+22] -> [1,22] = (23) for [3d6+5+16+12] -> [4,1,5,5,16,12] = (43)
(1) GM: [1d20+17] -> [12,17] = (29) for [3d6+5+16+12] -> [1,3,6,5,16,12] = (43)
(2) Kibin: (Two hit....)
(1) GM: His sword slams into Kibin twice, once into the ground, and the fourth bounces off scale.
(1) GM: Magic Circle Against Evil, 3rd: As protection spells, but 10-ft. radius and 10 min./level.
(1) GM: Jason: So... Anyone need a little protection?
(1) GM: Jason Hustles over to Kibin, getting him in the area.
(1) GM: Seshra?
(1) GM: (just be thankful it's not a Keen greatsword...)
(4) Seshra: (I'm gessing I can still see the king from my little cavelet?)
(1) GM: Yep.
(4) Seshra: Seshra Menander casts Chain Lightning ( level 6, "Lightning arcs between many targets, 1d6/level (max 20d6) to primary, half to secondary. Reflex DC 31 half, SR (+22). Long range, V, S, F." )
(4) Seshra: (Try a zap.)
(1) GM: SR Penetration?
(1) GM: Reflex: [1d20+30] -> [20,30] = (50)
(4) Seshra: [1d20+22] -> [18,22] = (40)
(4) Seshra: (oh right. Insane saves...)
(1) GM: Fortunately, in his armor, the King can't Evade as much as he'd like....
(1) GM: You successfully beat his SR. Damage?
(4) Seshra: [16d6] -> [4,5,2,4,3,3,5,3,5,1,6,4,4,1,4,3] = (57)
(1) GM: [57/2] -> 28
(1) GM: The King: Shocking...
(1) GM: Quinn?
(1) GM: The King seems only mildly annoyed at the shock.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Back.)
(1) GM: Just in time for your turn. Seshra's the only one who's managed to hurt him so far.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (What would be a good ability to try?)
(4) Seshra: (I really hope your Wish cut off any resistances he might have had...)
(4) Seshra: (go for raw damage that doesn't allow saves)
(1) GM: Or PR. Or Touch Attacks (although you could probably make those....)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Not sure what that would be.)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (My memory isn't that good.)
(1) GM: Swarm of Crystals would fit the bill, but it's a d4 base.
(1) GM: Crystal Shard is a d6 base, but a touch attack.
(1) GM: Back in a minute.
(2) Kibin: (He just has a touch AC of 30 or so from what I remember.)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Plus, Swarm of Crystals is a cone - Not sure I could hit just him.)
(4) Seshra: (I'm in a little cavern out of sight from you guys, probably...)
(1) GM: Back.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (+14 BAB for the Crystal Shard...)
(2) Kibin: (Just fire it off already.)
(1) GM: ? +9 BAB, +X Dex, +2 or 3 size....
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (I can augment is 18 PP, right? [19.0*3.5] -> 66.5
(1) GM: Yep.
(1) GM: Well, up to your manifester level.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Tiny, so probably +2, so +16...)
(1) GM: For total Power Point expenditure.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (18th level Psion.)
(1) GM: So 18d6 total (17 points of augmentation).
(5) Quinn Padfoot: Crystal Shard: To-Hit: [1d20+16] -> [10,16] = (26) Damage: [18d6] -> [5,5,3,1,2,2,5,1,2,1,1,4,6,4,5,3,3,5] = (58)
(1) GM: And you leave a very respectable dent in the wall, as The King nimbly slips aside.
(1) GM: Kibin?
** (2) Kibin goes for a full attack on the king.... not much damage, but it helps. **
(2) Kibin: Bite (base): [1d20+26] -> [1,26] = (27) ===> Damage: [1d6+6] -> [2,6] = (8)
(2) Kibin: Claws (base): [1d20+24] -> [4,24] = (28) ===> Damage: [1d4+5] -> [4,5] = (9)
(2) Kibin: Claws (base): [1d20+24] -> [4,24] = (28) ===> Damage: [1d4+5] -> [4,5] = (9)
(2) Kibin: (Fear my supercrappy rolls!)
(1) GM: Kibin can't law a claw on the King... and decides he doesn't like the taste of the rocks in the area.
(4) Seshra: (does a Spell-Like ability count as casting for the purposes of Elemental Savant class features?)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: ([Bad dice format] - [20d4*2.5)]
(1) GM: Yes, as spell-likes are like spells except how otherwise specified.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: [20d4*2.5] -> 130.0
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (er...[20*2.5] -> 50.0)
(1) GM: (which include components and things)
(1) GM: (as things otherwise specified, I mean.)
(1) GM: Bleh, anyway..
(1) GM: The King: Oh, almost forgot....
(1) GM: The king taps his heels together briefly.
(1) GM: The King: There we go....
(1) GM: The King goes for another full attack....
(1) GM: [1d20+32] -> [9,32] = (41) for [3d6+5+18+12] -> [6,4,6,5,18,12] = (51)
(1) GM: [1d20+32] -> [6,32] = (38) for [3d6+5+18+12] -> [5,1,5,5,18,12] = (46)
(1) GM: [1d20+27] -> [1,27] = (28) for [3d6+5+18+12] -> [6,6,1,5,18,12] = (48)
(1) GM: [1d20+22] -> [6,22] = (28) for [3d6+5+18+12] -> [4,2,1,5,18,12] = (42)
(1) GM: [1d20+17] -> [10,17] = (27) for [3d6+5+18+12] -> [1,4,5,5,18,12] = (45)
(2) Kibin: (Piff, piff, superpiff, piff.)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (What I'm wondering is why we're the only ones attacking...)
(2) Kibin: (Another piff.)
(4) Seshra: (I think he's controlling the elementals? Or they don't want to get involved...)
(1) GM: And the King gets a couple of Tinks on the dragon's armor, but doesn't actually land a blow.
(4) Seshra: (And Ehlonna is probably out of it for now.)
(1) GM: The King: Bah, I'll just need to be a little more careful.....
(1) GM: Jason: Quit that!
(1) GM: The King: Why?
(1) GM: Feeblemind, 5th: Subjects Int and Cha drop to 1.
(1) GM: SR penetration: [1d20+17] -> [18,17] = (35)
(2) Kibin: (Going to laugh if it succeeds...)
(1) GM: Will save: [1d20+30] -> [20,30] = (50)
(4) Seshra: (ok, so he rolled a 20.. maybe I shouldn't have been chanting "1" over here)
(2) Kibin: (Hmmm. Two natural 20's in a row.)
(1) GM: [100d20] -> [16,11,10,8,1,16,7,9,17,8,11,15,16,16,1,15,14,16,15,7,3,11,5,18,8,20,17,9,11,1,5,12,7,18,15,14,18,19,13,1,15,4,9,1,6,19,18,13,7,7,7,16,20,18,19,11,13,12,6,17,18,20,8,1,8,18,14,8,7,12,12,13,1,15,6,9,8,20,12,16,13,13,3,17,2,10,20,1,16,8,3,7,18,3,13,10,3,19,6,17] = (1120)
(1) GM: [100*10.5] -> 1050.0
(1) GM: Dice do seem to be rolling slightly high for me.
(4) Seshra: (Little high, but not terribly...)
(1) GM: Seshra?
(1) GM: (Of course, it wouldn't actually stop him from swinging his sword.....)
** (4) Seshra concentrates and tries to hit the king with a few rays (Scorching ray (Sp)) **
(1) GM: Attack and damage rolls, as well as SR penetration?
(4) Seshra: Ranged touches: [1d20+13] -> [13,13] = (26) and [1d20+8] -> [2,8] = (10)
(1) GM: Miss, but that's okay; you've got two more.
(4) Seshra: (Ah yeah, SR... [1d20+22] -> [1,22] = (23))
(4) Seshra: (oops, karma. OK, that's my turn done)
(1) GM: Quinn?
(2) Kibin: (Delicious delicious karma.)
(1) GM: Oh, so I need to be the one chanting "1"?
(2) Kibin: (Quinn, decerebrate him!)
(1) GM: You can talk out of turn, you know...
(2) Kibin: (Yeah, but how do I ICly say, "Use save or die effects!")
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (You really think Decerabrate is going to pass his Fortitude and PR?)
(1) GM: "Come on, just kill him!"
(2) Kibin: (There's a chance, however small.)
(4) Seshra: (Shoulda kept Kaylin the Beholder around :) 3 save-or-dies a turn...)
(1) GM: You already passes his PR once; oh, and do you have Psionic Meditation?
(1) GM: And enough Concentration to auto-pass the roll?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Nope.)
(1) GM: That makes it a littler trickier.
(2) Kibin: (Even my warmind character has it, it's essential for any psionic build.)
(1) GM: Pretty much, yes.
(2) Kibin: (Being able to make touch attacks every round is nice. :)
(2) Kibin: (Especially touch attacks that do 50+ damage.)
(1) GM: Two-handed Power Attack is nice that way, yes.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Ok, Decerabrate: PR: [1d20+18] -> [9,18] = (27)
(2) Kibin: (Yup. Full two-handed power attack touch attack...)
(1) GM: The King shakes his head briefly.
(1) GM: The King: Was that supposed to do something?
(2) Kibin: (It's oh so much fun to do 14d6+50 damage with one attack.)
(1) GM: Kibin?
(1) GM: You notice his armor seems to be corroding, for some odd reason.
** (2) Kibin blasts the king with a freezing paralyzing breath. It might do something... [1d4] -> [4] = (4) **
(1) GM: [1d20+30] -> [4,30] = (34)
(2) Kibin: (Heh. Worth a try.)
(1) GM: The King: Ah, a nice refreshing breeze for a workout. Thanks.
(1) GM: The King continues to press the attack....
(1) GM: [1d20+32] -> [15,32] = (47) for [3d6+5+18+12] -> [6,4,6,5,18,12] = (51)
(1) GM: [1d20+32] -> [17,32] = (49) for [3d6+5+18+12] -> [2,3,4,5,18,12] = (44)
(1) GM: [1d20+27] -> [4,27] = (31) for [3d6+5+18+12] -> [5,5,1,5,18,12] = (46)
(1) GM: [1d20+22] -> [3,22] = (25) for [3d6+5+18+12] -> [5,1,6,5,18,12] = (47)
(1) GM: [1d20+17] -> [9,17] = (26) for [3d6+5+18+12] -> [6,2,6,5,18,12] = (49)
(2) Kibin: (( Ow ow piff piff piff I need healing now. :P ))
(1) GM: And Kibin takes a few more hits as the powerful swipes of The King's sword slam into him.
(4) Seshra: (I hope Elorin's gotten over his religious crisis...)
(2) Kibin: (Yup...)
(4) Seshra: (go back and slap him a bit :)
(1) GM: Jason: Quit it Quit it Quit it!
(1) GM: Jason takes a full round to focus on getting past saves...
(1) GM: Feeblemind, 5th: Subjects Int and Cha drop to 1.
(1) GM: SR penetration: 1d20+17]
(1) GM: SR penetration: [1d20+17] -> [20,17] = (37)
(2) Kibin: (Break it break it break it WHOOOOOO!)
(1) GM: Will: [1d20+30] -> [16,30] = (46)
(1) GM: Ah, -6 for those that can cast Arcane spells..... still only DC 28, though. Hmmm...
(1) GM: Oh well.
(1) GM: Seshra?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (...For my next character, I shall make an obssesive-compulsive who must collect Rings of Three Wishes...)
(1) GM: Ah, and only -4.
(1) GM: Luckblades also hold Wishes.
** (4) Seshra drops an electric fireball, trying to make sure the blast hits no-one but the king (mastery of shaping) **
(1) GM: (at 1d4-1 for a randomly found luckblade)
(4) Seshra: Seshra Menander casts Fireball, Maximised ( level 6, "60 electricity damage at Long range, V, S, M. Reflex DC 28 half, SR (+22)." )
(1) GM: SR penetration?
(4) Seshra: (SR: [1d20+22] -> [9,22] = (31)
(2) Kibin: (*cheers*)
(1) GM: The King: Hmm... that's a nice, relaxing heat, you know?
(1) GM: (sr 35)
(4) Seshra: (it's Electricity, not fire...)
(1) GM: (Electricity makes heat)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Twelve "I wish the king was weaker"...)
(4) Seshra: (good point)
(2) Kibin: (So. Um. Is elorin well enough to heal me?)
(1) GM: The King: The smell, though.....
(1) GM: (He's cut off from the source of his magic. As is every Cleric of Elhonnia.
(1) GM: )
(2) Kibin: (...cruuuuud.)
(4) Seshra: (aww, damn...)
(1) GM: The King went after the weakest, first; focusing on Nature, The Disaster hit Elhonnia harder than most (as most plants and animals were kinda up the creek).
(2) Kibin: (Heal is a level 7 spell and replicable by wish, though... I think.)
(1) GM: 5th, for an Adept, replicateable by Limited Wish.
(2) Kibin: (Okay, it's a 6th level spell for healing, and thus barely... yeah that works too.)
(1) GM: 7th devine for the Druid, 6th Divine for the Cleric, 5th Divine for the Adept. Limited Wish, as it's not on the Sor/Wiz list, has to take it from the Adept (-2 any other list, not-prohibited).
(1) GM: So as long as the one with Limited Wish didn't prohibit Conjouration....
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Could Bend Reality do it?)
(2) Kibin: (...whoa, so heals are possible with a limited wish?)
(1) GM: Barely. If you look in the DMG for NPC spell lists, yes.
(1) GM: Technically, Bend Reality doesn't permit spells.
(1) GM: But yeah, sure.
(1) GM: Touch range, though.
(1) GM: Which shouldn't be a problem; Kibin can provide soft cover to help with the AoO.....
(1) GM: And you're only moving into his threatened area....
(2) Kibin: (He has concentration for manifesting defensively?)
(1) GM: True.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (I don't think I have the XP, though.)
(1) GM: Bend Reality only takes 300.....
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Or maybe I do - Don't seem to have added last session XP)
(1) GM: That would do it, yes.
(2) Kibin: (*Produce any other effect whose power level is in line with the above effects, such as a single creature automatically hitting on its next attack* Huh. )
(1) GM: (Got Power Attack?)
(2) Kibin: (Heh. Sadly no.)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Ok, so I Bend Reality so Kibin is Healed.)
(2) Kibin: (But that could be abused in some way... I just don't know what...)
(4) Seshra: (brb)
(1) GM: Which incidentally, puts you directly behind Kibin... in range of The King's sword.
(1) GM: Kibin?
(1) GM: Oh, and Kibin - that 150 HP is tasty, isn't it?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: Concentration: [1d20+22] -> [16,22] = (38)
(2) Kibin: (Hmmm... can I use an attack to push him out of the way?)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (BRB)
(4) Seshra: (Bull Rush)
(1) GM: Quinn? You could Bull-Rush him, I suppose. You'd be a little far for fighting back, though.
(2) Kibin: (I could push him 5 feet back, just out of range of the sword, then 5 foot step back in.)
(1) GM: Can't five-foot when you've otherwise moved. Can move back into place, though.... if you're willing to soak the AoO. For that matter, you'll soak one anyway - movement, after all.
(2) Kibin: (And moving with your opponent is optional.)
(2) Kibin: (Oh wait, moving into your opponents space. Hmmm....)
(1) GM: Leaving one of his threatened squares.
(2) Kibin: (*decides Quinn isn't that squishy*)
(4) Seshra: (uhh, Quinn is that squishy...)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Back.)
(1) GM: Spot checks?
(2) Kibin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+21] -> [6,21] = (27)
(4) Seshra: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+7] -> [7,7] = (14)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Could I do a Reality Revision to bring anyone with a reason to fight the king and a reasonable chance in battle against him here?)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+3] -> [1,3] = (4)
whispering to Kibin, You notice the walls of the place are slowly crumbling....
(1) GM: You could, yes.
(1) GM: Provided you've got another 5k loose XP to burn.
(4) Seshra: (how many would that be, really?)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (...And then explode into a puddle of goo?...)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (I doos, yep.)
whispering to Quinn Padfoot, You're momentarily blind.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Well, probably about half the gods and demon kings in the game...)
whispering to Quinn Padfoot, The you realized you just blinked....
** (2) Kibin shoves Quinn out of the way of the king blob, so far out of the way as for the king blob to not be in range of Quinn, and for the king blob to not be able to make a full attack against him soon. "We need to get out of here..." **
(4) Seshra: (That'd be intense...)
(1) GM: Meanwhile, you soak an AoO....
(1) GM: [1d20+32] -> [17,32] = (49) for [3d6+5+18+12] -> [2,6,2,5,18,12] = (45)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Would that work as a way of killing the king?)
(1) GM: Potentially.
(4) Seshra: (Yeah, but then the demon kings would be fighitng us too...)
(1) GM: As Kibin briefly turns his back on The King to push on Quinn, he Takes a swing and cuts deeply into the freshly-healed dragon.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: ("I Revise Reality so that everyone with a reason to fight the king and a reasonable chance in battle against him, who would not fight each other instead, here."?)
(2) Kibin: (LISTEN TO THE DRAGON.)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Quinn explodes into a puddle of goo, the king gets slaughtered?)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Kibin, the more we leave him alone, the more powerfull he gets.)
(2) Kibin: (I know that.)
(1) GM: Curiously, it's on the safe list: "Transport travelers. This power can lift one creature per manifester level from anywhere on any plane and place those creatures anywhere else on any plane regardless of local conditions. An unwilling target gets a Will save to negate the effect, and power resistance (if any) applies."
(2) Kibin: "The king can't go anywhere, right? Then we need to get out of here."
(1) GM: Anyway... it's The King's turn, as Kibin just Bull-rushed Quinn.
(1) GM: His armor corrodes off his body... and seems to somehow meld back into him. Meanwhile, the shimmering green barrier remains.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: ("I Revise Reality so that everyone with a reason to fight the king and a reasonable chance in battle against him, who are on the side of good, here."?)
(1) GM: And it's the King's turn.
(1) GM: The King: While I can't quite command the earth directly at the moment, I'm afraid you aren't leaving.
(4) Seshra: (Hmm, nuclear meltdown?)
(1) GM: The king gestures and speaks, and a Wall of Stone covers all the exits.
(1) GM: He grins, and gestures and speaks again....
whispering to Seshra, Dimensional Lock.
(1) GM: The King: And as long as I can't go anywhere.... you might as well stick around.
(1) GM: Jason: Grr!
(1) GM: Quarterstaff (base): [1d20+8] -> [14,8] = (22) ===> Damage: [1d6+1] -> [3,1] = (4)
(1) GM: Quarterstaff (second): [1d20+3] -> [7,3] = (10) ===> Damage: [1d6+1] -> [5,1] = (6)
(1) GM: Jason can't lay a stick on The King.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: ("I Revise Reality to bring everyone on the side of good and who has a reasonable chance in battle against the king, here."?)
(1) GM: Seshra?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Can I trade exploding into a puddle of goo for 'Everyone on or near the planet'?)
(1) GM: Spot checks?
(2) Kibin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+21] -> [18,21] = (39)
(4) Seshra: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+7] -> [5,7] = (12)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+3] -> [7,3] = (10)
(1) GM: There's only so much room in here anyway.
whispering to Kibin, Yes, the walls are definately crumbling. Probably don't have much longer.
whispering to Seshra, There's something odd about the walls, but you can't quite place it.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (How much room?)
(1) GM: Oh, it's about a 40-foot diameter circle, 14 foot cieling.
(2) Kibin: "We need to get out of here, did you notice that his armor that he created is gone?"
(1) GM: And Seshra, it's your turn.
** (4) Seshra examines the walls briefly (Spend the turn checking up on that...) **
(1) GM: Spot checks?
(2) Kibin: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+21] -> [7,21] = (28)
(4) Seshra: Spot Skill Check: [1d20+7] -> [10,7] = (17)
(1) GM: For Seshra only, actively spotting; He gets two, if he press it; a move action to see something you didn't before, and a standard as an additional move action.
whispering to Seshra, They seem to be starting to crumble, a little....
(1) GM: Oh, and that was a move action; doing something with your Standard?
(4) Seshra: (is it possible to reach the edge of the 40-foot diameter circle in a standard action?)
(1) GM: Even from the center, it's only 20 feet away. Yes. Rather easily.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: ("I Revise Reality to bring everyone on the side of good and who has a reasonable chance in battle against the king, here and make enough room for them, without giving power to the king."?)
(2) Kibin: (Quinn, you don't listen well, do you...)
(4) Seshra: (OK, I'll do that. try to fly over to an edge...)
(1) GM: And Seshra's at the wall.
(1) GM: Quinn?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Kibin, he is currently Loosing Power. This is not a condition we are going to replicate soon.)
(2) Kibin: (...yes, I know that.)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (So we can't run. This is our best shot.)
** (2) Kibin says if anyone hasn't gotten it already, "The building is about to crumble and fall!" **
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Ooh...)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Didn't the king do something to block us leaving?)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Rolled a 3 on my first Spot Check and a 10 on the second.)
(1) GM: Then missed when I mentioned it was a 14 foot cieling, and earlier called it 10+5....
(4) Seshra: (Ah, wondered if that was a typo or not...)
(1) GM: Anyway, Quinn - it's your turn.
(2) Kibin: (Huh. Dimensional lock doesn't prevent teleportation by wish.)
(2) Kibin: (From the transport travelers safe clause.)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (...Revise Reality so we're all outside the collapsing palace?)
(1) GM: Ah, the "regardless of local conditions" clause on Transport Travelers. Hmm.....
(4) Seshra: (don't worry about that... I'll disintegrate the wall and we can pile out)
(2) Kibin: (We want the king to remain, remember?)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Well, I can't bring others here yet, then.)
(4) Seshra: (ah... I suppose.)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (And if I use Reality Revision twice, someone will have to contribute 1000XP.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: * )
(1) GM: So, all'yall have a choice to make, then.
(1) GM: Mostly in Quinn's paws.
(2) Kibin: (I volunteer to donate the XP! If possible.)
(4) Seshra: (pfft, 1000 XP for stopping someone from enslaving the Elemental Planes? no question about that. go for it...)
(2) Kibin: (...oh wait, not enough, just 300.)
(4) Seshra: (Although, i fhe wants to enslave the Plane of Earth... *cough*)
(1) GM: Keep him distracted so he doesn't notice the approaching doom, escape in a way that lets him out, or escape in a way that gives him a chance to notice what's going on before it's too late for him.
(1) GM: Meanwhile, I'm going to go get a glass of water.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (I've got 9,000 free XP.)
(2) Kibin: (Why not just ready an action to use the wish just before rocks crush us all?)
(4) Seshra: (he's 5 feet taller than us, anyways)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (...I like that idea. Or Revise Reality to teleport us and Elohna away just before the Big Squish.)
(4) Seshra: (that sounds like a great idea, yeah. Be sure we rescue Ehlonna, or Elorin will never forgive us...)
(1) GM: Well, Quinn's turn. Acting?
(2) Kibin: (Or just use reality revision to teleport before the rocks fall.)
(2) Kibin: (Using it to teleport at a very specific point of time doesn't seem like too much of a stretch.)
(1) GM: It does, however, remove you from the strict confines of the safe list.....
(2) Kibin: (...ready an action then?)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (...Can I specify how the Reality Revision pushes back?)
(2) Kibin: (Pushes back?)
(1) GM: If it's sufficently cinematic, yes.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (...Quinn is split into two halves? Chaotic and Good?)
(1) GM: Oh, and Whipser the specifics.
(2) Kibin: (....huh?)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (You mean you've never seen that plot line?)
(2) Kibin: (Wha???)
(1) GM: For the final version of the reality revion phrasing. Could be interesting.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Where a character is split into good and bad, light and dark, crazy and sane, chocolate and peanut butter?)
(4) Seshra: (eww, peanut butter next to chocolate?)
(2) Kibin: (You're still confusing me.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Two versions of a character running around, each with half of that characters' personality.)
(2) Kibin: (....let's not let that happen?)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Why not? Sounds fun.)
(1) GM: Fisson is on the safe list of Reality Revision.
(2) Kibin: (Yeah. I'm pretty sure that you wouldn't want the evil side of me stealing all of your stuff. From what I know, I'm about the only one that actually took sense motive...)
(1) GM: And you've got lots of Bluff to go with it.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Chaotic and Good, not Good and Evil.)
(2) Kibin: (My lawful self would be lonely, though.)
(4) Seshra: (are you the only Lawful in the party?)
(2) Kibin: (...I think so, yes.)
(1) GM: Pretty much.
(1) GM: So... doing something, or delaying while thinking of possibilities?
(5) Quinn Padfoot (whispering): Quinns' eyes narrow in concentration as reality itself twists and distorts, shaping itself around her will - For her, her friends and Elohna to be transported to safety just before the cieling crashes down. As she focuses, she feels a brief shiver flash over her - And for a moment, it's like there's another her inside her head. A premonition of the future or only a moment of uncertainty?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Typing, typing, more typing.)
(2) Kibin: (Silver dragons tend to be lawful.)
(1) GM: And it's Kibin's turn.
** (2) Kibin sighs, and stays back outside the kings full attack range, readying to attack the king after he attacks. (After king makes attack, 5 foot step in and bite. No full attack for you!) **
(1) GM: And it's The King's turn....
(1) GM: The King: You know, it's been a while since I burned something..... but then, I do want you around later as a garnish....
(1) GM: The King casts a spell.
whispering to Seshra, Mass Hold Monster.
(1) GM: Will saves, everyone.
(2) Kibin: Will save: [1d20+17] -> [8,17] = (25)
(4) Seshra: Will save: [1d20+22] -> [20,22] = (42)
(2) Kibin: (Hi low saves! I missed you!)
(2) Kibin: (*hopes it's an enchantment effect so he gets a second save*)
(1) GM: Jason's immune...
(1) GM: Seshra's still moving.
(1) GM: Oh, and Quinn - Will save?
(2) Kibin: (Wait, what spell is this?)
(1) GM: Quinn? Will save?
(2) Kibin: (I think he's AFK.)
(4) Seshra: (is he still typing stuff up?)
(1) GM: Looks like.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Back, sorry, went ot get some apple joice.)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (* juice)
(1) GM: Not an apple for joining pieces of wood?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: Will save: [1d20+10] -> [7,10] = (17)
(1) GM: Okay. Quinn's paralized. Everyone else is fine.
(2) Kibin: (Immune to paralyzation effects anyway.)
(1) GM: Yep. Looked it up.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Two pieces of ice and a cup in the freezer...)
(2) Kibin: (Which doesn't come up much anyway...)
(1) GM: The walls noticeably crumble another few feet. The King seems rather focused on what he's doing... despite the haphazard methods.
(1) GM: Jason: Stop it!
(1) GM: Feeblemind, 5th: Subjects Int and Cha drop to 1.
(1) GM: Jason continues to take his time to focus the spell....
(1) GM: [1d20+17] -> [19,17] = (36)
(1) GM: [1d20+26] -> [18,26] = (44)
(1) GM: And The King just kinda looks at Jason funny.
(1) GM: And shrugs.
(1) GM: Seshra?
(2) Kibin: "Get Quinn unparalzed?"
** (4) Seshra tries again with an electric fireball, mastery of shaping it to protect everyone but the king **
(4) Seshra: Seshra Menander casts Fireball, Empowered ( level 5, "1.5 * 10d6 (Reflex DC 28 half, SR +22) electricity. Long range, V, S, M, 20-ft-radius spread." )
(1) GM: SR penetration?
(4) Seshra: (SR: [1d20+22] -> [6,22] = (28))
(1) GM: Reflex: [1d20+30] -> [10,30] = (40)
(1) GM: The spell doesn't seem to do much.
(4) Seshra: (Times like this, losing out on a few caster levels really hurts...)
(1) GM: The King: Okay, could you quit that? It's starting to stink in here from all the rotten air that thing makes.
** (2) Kibin sighs. Noone ever listens to the dragon... **
(1) GM: Quinn? Fresh will save, and being paralized doesn't stop Psionics.
(2) Kibin: (You could have picked up practiced spellcaster, get the caster levels back up to normal.)
(4) Seshra: (I'm going to)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Decerabrate: [1d20+18] -> [2,18] = (20)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Ah well.)
(1) GM: The King shakes his head breifly.
(2) Kibin: (...Quinn, didn't you remember about readying an action to teleport us out of here?)
(1) GM: The King: Wait... was that you? You shouldn't be able to cast anything.....
(1) GM: Kibin?
** (2) Kibin slashes at the King some more, saying to him, "Just a normal cat that follows us..." (Bluff-fu, plus full attack!) **
(1) GM: Sense Motive: [1d20+33] -> [15,33] = (48)
(2) Kibin: Bluff Skill Check: [1d20+25] -> [10,25] = (35)
(2) Kibin: (Meh.)
(1) GM: Also, attack and damage rolls?
(4) Seshra: (yeah, the cat flew in through the ceiling...)
(2) Kibin: (Yeah, I forgot about that. x.x)
(2) Kibin: Bite (base): [1d20+26] -> [2,26] = (28) ===> Damage: [1d6+6] -> [1,6] = (7)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (...Kibin, I sent the GM the Reality Revision to get us out of here.)
(2) Kibin: Claws (base): [1d20+24] -> [7,24] = (31) ===> Damage: [1d4+5] -> [4,5] = (9)
(2) Kibin: Claws (base): [1d20+24] -> [1,24] = (25) ===> Damage: [1d4+5] -> [4,5] = (9)
(2) Kibin: (Oh. You already did it?)
(1) GM: Oh, right - he gets a further +10 for the flying, a +10 for all the funny lights....
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Actually, that would have replaced my turn, so no Decerabrate, I think.)
(1) GM: Sort of.
(1) GM: And you manage to get one claw into The King's hide.
(2) Kibin: (TASTE 7 DAMAGE, FIEND!)
(1) GM: 9, actually.
(1) GM: Armor gone, AC both touch and normal of 30.
(1) GM: And it's the King's turn.
(1) GM: King: Can't have that cat.....
(1) GM: The King rushes over to the Cat, faster than he should be able to do, and does a CdG.....
(1) GM: At full Power Attack.
(2) Kibin: (Nuuuuu!)
(2) Kibin: Bite (base): [1d20+26] -> [12,26] = (38) ===> Damage: [1d6+6] -> [2,6] = (8)
(1) GM: [6d6+10+40+24] -> [4,2,1,3,1,3,10,40,24] = (88)
(1) GM: DC 98 Fort save or die.
(2) Kibin: (Roll a 20...)
(1) GM: Pretty much, yeah.
(1) GM: Oh, I forgot the Sneak attack dice!
(1) GM: [10d6] -> [1,4,2,5,6,2,2,3,6,3] = (34)
(1) GM: Make that DC [10+88+34] -> 132
(5) Quinn Padfoot: Fortitude save: [1d20+9] -> [14,9] = (23)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: ( Yeah, the Reality Revision was sent to the GM already.)
(1) GM: Quinn is Cleaved in twain.
(1) GM: Oh, and your bite hit, by the way.
(2) Kibin: (*thinks that he has breath weapon again...*)
whispering to Kibin, He tastes a little... rotten?
(1) GM: And the place comes crashing down.
(1) GM: Suddenly, everyone is... elsewhere. Including both halves of Quinn.
(1) GM: The King's missing, though.
** (4) Seshra looks around, extremely startled **
(1) GM: It's hard to say where you are, exactly. There's no ground, no sky, no clouds, no walls.... just a vast nothingness.
(1) GM: Still, you seem to be able to breathe.
(2) Kibin: "Where are we?"
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (...Are those two dead halves or two personality halves?)
(4) Seshra: Knowledge: The Planes Skill Check: [1d20+34] -> [13,34] = (47)
(4) Seshra: (recognise what plane we're on?)
(1) GM: (Very, very dead halves. Physically cut in half.)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Ah.)
(1) GM: Right down the middle, from head to tail.
(4) Seshra: (Also, do we have Elorin and/or Ehlonna with us?)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Well, at least everyone is safe. Both should have come, if the GM isn't picky about spelling.)
** (2) Kibin flails around a little in nothingness. **
(1) GM: Ehlonna is, as is Elorin.
(1) GM: Elhonnia seems to be unconscious, though.
** (2) Kibin sees if his wings still work to move around. **
** (4) Seshra tries flying around a bit **
(1) GM: There doesn't seem to be any air to push against... despite the fact that you can still breath.
(2) Kibin: (He teleported us into space, didn't he.)
whispering to Seshra, You don't seem to be on a plane. Or between them, for that matter.
** (5) Quinn Padfoot floats around as TWO PIECES! **
(4) Seshra: "I don't recognise this as being a plane or between..." (if I can talk...)
(1) GM: Yeah, sound carries through the nothing.
** (2) Kibin hmmms... then tries using his breath weapon as a form of propulsion. **
(1) GM: That works.
** (4) Seshra hmms. **
(2) Kibin: (Wheeee, rocket dragon!)
(1) GM: Kibin strats driftin away... and then drifting back from the other side. And he keeps drifting.
(2) Kibin: "Huh. Like a demiplane."
(2) Kibin: "Just no ground."
(2) Kibin: "Or air. Or anything."
(4) Seshra: "Which begs the question of what happened.."
(5) Quinn Padfoot: * Quinn requests resurection, as much as is possible for a dead cat.
** (2) Kibin tries grabbing onto everyone possible as he goes by, getting everyone into grabbing distance of each other. Including the two halves of Quinn. **
** (4) Seshra wanders over towards Ehlonna and tentatively pokes her on the arm. **
whispering to Seshra, She feels rather frail under your finger.
(1) GM: Ehlonna stirs.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (And makes soup!)
(1) GM: Ehlonna: Thaaaa......
(1) GM: Ehlonna: That wasn't so good....
(1) GM: Ehlonna: ... I'm alive?
(4) Seshra: "Probably."
(2) Kibin: "Um... yeah... the cat rescued you."
(1) GM: Ehlonna: Cat? Ah, I like cat's.
(1) GM: Ehlonna: Oh. Hmm. I'm afraid I'll need to rest for a bit.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: * Hopefully not as soup.
(2) Kibin: (I think this is the only instance in fantasy when someone can proclaim with a straight face, "The cat rescued you.")
(4) Seshra: (hehe)
(1) GM: (to a diety, even)
(1) GM: Ehlonna closes her eyes and goes to sleep.
(4) Seshra: "When you say rest... how long is that liable to take?"
(4) Seshra: (I'm guessing there's light here...)
(1) GM: No source of light, but you can see normally.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Actually, 2000XP short)
(4) Seshra: "Rest might be a good idea..."
(1) GM: So a particularly twisted Revision is appropriet, then.
(2) Kibin: "Rest while floating in nothingness?"
(4) Seshra: "Nothingness is good for contemplative philosophy."
(1) GM: With nothing to track time by, you loose track.
(1) GM: You find you grow neither hungry nor thirsty.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (No, I meant for the next Reality Revision, if I had one. I had enough for the transport.)
(1) GM: Ah, okay.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Down to 155,020.)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (If I've calculated right.)
** (2) Kibin isn't in particular need for rest, so he takes out his portable hole, and opens it on nothingness. **
(1) GM: After an unknowable length of time, with nothing to do and nothing to see, feels like an eternity, Ehlonna wakens
(1) GM: Unfortunately, with no surface to spread it on, you can't get it open properly.
** (2) Kibin sighs, and puts it back in his neck pocket then. And goes to sleep until Ehlonna wakens. **
(1) GM: Ehlonna: ... better.... but still.....
(1) GM: Ehlonna: Where are we, anyway?
(1) GM: Ehlonna: You said the cat brought us here?
(4) Seshra: "The cat, yes."
(2) Kibin: "A demiplane, I think. Or some other plane. At least, it's similar to a demiplane in that it loops back on itself... and yes, the cat."
(1) GM: Ehlonna: The dead cat. Of course. Well, I do need answers......
(2) Kibin: "You know, I didn't quite think my first words to a deity would be 'The cat rescued you.'"
(1) GM: Ehlonna concentrates for a moment.... and Quinn is his old self again.
(1) GM: Fully healed, with no loss of level.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Her)
(1) GM: Sorry, keep forgetting.
(1) GM: Ehlonna: So, cat, how did you get us here?
(4) Seshra: (stare at her like she doesn't exist! :)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: "I altered reality."
** (5) Quinn Padfoot stares at an invisible flyspeck. **
(1) GM: Ehlonna: Ah. By any chance can I get what you were thinking of when you did so? I'd ask what you said, but I have some passing familiarity with your style of "magic".
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Just a second, must check wording.)
whispering to Quinn Padfoot, "For her, her friends and Elohna to be transported to safety just before the cieling crashes down"
(5) Quinn Padfoot: "To transport us to safety just before the ceiling crashes down."
(1) GM: Ehlonna: ... and it couldn't do exactly what you wanted with the dimensional lock in place and the time constraints, and you didn't specify where, exactly.....
(1) GM: Ehlonna: So, of course, we ended up at safety.
(2) Kibin: "Uh. Where is 'safety'?"
(1) GM: Ehlonna: Nowhere is completely safe.
(4) Seshra: "Exactly nowhere..."
(5) Quinn Padfoot: "I'm very sorry, but that was my first attempt at such a thing." * Crosses eyes, examines invisible dust mote further.
(2) Kibin: "So we're nowhere."
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (For a cat, she's being remarkably polite.)
(4) Seshra: "Lending validity to the human expression "middle of nowhere"..."
(1) GM: Ehlonna: How do you define "middle" for nowhere?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: "...So we're inside a dogs brain?"
** (5) Quinn Padfoot looks around with distaste. **
(4) Seshra: "Middle? Anywhere you please."
(2) Kibin: "Quinn, you know that I used to be a wolf...they dpn
(2) Kibin: "Quinn, you know that I used to be a wolf...they don't have nothing for a brain."
(4) Seshra: "Speaking of locations... what were you doing in that tower? We were just heading up to it and then Elorin had a crisis..."
(5) Quinn Padfoot: "Wolves are not dogs. They actually have a little dignity."
(1) GM: Ehlonnna: A dog's brain would be somewhere, even if not to your tastes. It's okay. I can do most of what I need from here.
(1) GM: Ehlonna: Would you believe I was abducted?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Let's not argue and quible over who did what - This issupposed to be a happy occasion!)
(4) Seshra: "Given what we've seen of him so far, I'd believe it..."
(2) Kibin: "I'll just be drifting in nothingness, then...."
(1) GM: Ehlonna: A clever hunter, he is. Was, hopefully. I doubt I will ever be what I once was.
(1) GM: Ehlonna: I think my brother should be able to cover for what I can't do from here.
(4) Seshra: Knowledge: Religion Skill Check: [1d20+18] -> [20,18] = (38)
(4) Seshra: (Who's her brother?)
whispering to Seshra, Obad-Hai
(4) Seshra: "I'll bet you can get your abilities back somehow..."
whispering to Seshra, They've always had a rivalry; he'll definately pick up the slack.
(1) GM: Ehlonna: Most of it, in time. But tell me... where do we escape from?
(1) GM: Ehlonna's mouth twitches upwards breifly from her sad countenence: At least my demese will be going to seed.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: "We don't need to escape from anywhere. We just need to go somewherre."
(5) Quinn Padfoot: * Perfectly logical, if you're a cat.
(1) GM: Ehlonna: Where are you going from?
(4) Seshra: (Does teleportation magic require a from? Didn't know that...)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: "Does it matter?"
(1) GM: Ehlonna: Put it another way.... how far is it to where you're going?
(2) Kibin: "Planar teleporting spells, then?"
(5) Quinn Padfoot: "...Giving that we're nowhere, I think the answer is 'Yes'."
(5) Quinn Padfoot: "...And 'No'."
(5) Quinn Padfoot: "Shouldn't be too hard. We just all teleport untill all of us get there."
(1) GM: Ehlonna: Can you get to the Astral to traverse it? Almost all Teleportation goes through the Astral. Some goes through Shadow.
(1) GM: Ehlonna: And how far from the Astral are we?
** (2) Kibin idly imagines a landscape around him while waiting. **
(5) Quinn Padfoot: "Exactly the same distance as we aren't."
(1) GM: Nothing happens, unfortunately.
(4) Seshra: "What would you suggest we do instead of trying to plane shift out of here?"
(1) GM: Ehlonna: That... I will have to think on. I've already tried most of the means I know.... and that's a lot.
(1) GM: Ehlonna: I suppose we could get you out... if you've got someone friendly somewhere who can manage a True Ressurection for you, and knows to do so.
** (2) Kibin bored again. Meh. "Complete and total safety is boring." **
(1) GM: Jason: So we're trapped, then.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: * Far be it from me to point out that you're a goddess and thus have followers. * Innocent expression.
** (2) Kibin looks at Jason, seeing if he's more corporeal than normal. **
(1) GM: Ehlonna: Well, at least you went out heroes. Hmm... let's see.....
(1) GM: Yes, he does seem a little solid.
** (4) Seshra tries activating her cloak of etherealness **
(2) Kibin: "Um... I'd like to still be alive."
(1) GM: Ehlonna closes her eyes for a time.
(1) GM: Nothing happens.
(1) GM: Ehlonna opens her eyes.
(1) GM: Ehlonna: Well, I've got mixed news. I can arrange to get most of you out of here.
(1) GM: Ehlonna: Or to somewhere, anyway. Which means you won't be nowhere.
(2) Kibin: "The rest of the news?"
(1) GM: Ehlonna: To do it, I have to kill you, and your things will remain nowhere.
(2) Kibin: "Ah."
(1) GM: Ehlonna: Your dead friend is beyond what I can arrange for now, though. Perhaps with enough thinking on the issue, I can research something for the two of us....
(4) Seshra: "Hey, now. What about yourself?"
(1) GM: Ehlonna: I can still receive worship, grant spells, and so on. My connection to my priests remain ... though weakened from my recent mishap.
(1) GM: Ehlonna: And the recent disaster. Everyone's weakened from the recent disaster.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: "It would seem rather boring here..." * I'm not showing concern for another person. Nope. Not at all.
(1) GM: Ehlonna frowns briefly.
(4) Seshra: "So you're just going to sit here forever?"
(1) GM: Ehlonna: I'm going to think on the issue. Give it time; there's probably a way to go from nowhere to somewhere.....
(1) GM: Ehlonna: In the meanwhile, do you want to take me up on the short term offer, or wait until I can figure out something a little more pleasant?
(2) Kibin: "Short term offer is good, if we're still alive that is."
(1) GM: Back in a minute.
(4) Seshra: "I don't have pressing business anywhere, and I'm sort of attached to my spellbook."
(5) Quinn Padfoot: "You might need a cat around to keep things from getting dull..."
(5) Quinn Padfoot: * I can't believe I actually said that!
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (BRB)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Back.)
(1) GM: Ehlonna: Well, I suppose it will be nice to have something natural to keep me company.
(1) GM: Ehlonna: At least you won't die of old age on me.
(2) Kibin: "Uh... how long is researching going to take?"
(1) GM: Ehlonna: How do you measure time? It will take as long as it takes.
(1) GM:
(1) GM: Hold for a bit.
(2) Kibin: (How long is a bit?)
(1) GM: For some "what next" talk.
(1) GM: So, we now have a situation where you've gone out like heroes, and it's possible to retreive the characters in a pinch for a later campaign.
(2) Kibin: (Ah.)
(1) GM: I'm getting a little fatigued with the complexity of high-level play.
(1) GM: Who's up for a low-level campaign?
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Let's play Risus!)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: ( :D )
(2) Kibin: (I could run a campaign like I was going to before Narf came!)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Seriously, it's simple, it's fun, and a D&D game I'm playing converted...And the game has gotten better.)
(2) Kibin: (I have the rules for a matrix RPG somewhere...)
(2) Kibin: (Based on d6 rules...)
(4) Seshra: (Well... I like this campaign, but I'd completely be up for a low-level campaign. Not really the level that matters...)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Skill, Stat and Matrix? 'There Is No Spoon'?)
(2) Kibin: (MUUWAAHAAHAA!)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Plus, with Risus or TINS, there are no Race/Class straitjackets.)
(1) GM: Hey! You figured out links!
(2) Kibin: (Just have to remember it's href, not html.)
(1) GM: c;
(1) GM: <
(1) GM: =
(1) GM: >
(2) Kibin: (Hmmm?)
(1) GM: <a href=link>Stuff to say</a>
(2) Kibin: (Yeah, I know.)
(2) Kibin: (It's just that I keep using html, instead of href.)
(1) GM: Just remembering the translations for the symbols.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (BRB, need to do something.)
(2) Kibin: (So.... advenuture, level 9, run by me? :)
(1) GM: There's a nifty little way to make reserved characters in HTML. Handy for when you want to describe something about HTML in HTML.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Back.)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Sounds like another complicated game.)
(1) GM: So... millenium after campaign, Gestalt-3's, Kibin's prepped, or level 9 run?
(1) GM: Yes, but things are much simpler when I've got one character to track....
(4) Seshra: (Yeah, I'd imagine it's kinda complex with however many high-level NPCs... bad enough running one PC :)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (No, I meant the link Kibin posted.)
(1) GM: I need to track: The rough outline of the abilities of every PC.
(4) Seshra: (Ah)
(1) GM: The stats of every NPC as they are set out.
(1) GM: The abilities of each spell.
(1) GM: The mosnters.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Risus is much simpler and TINS is even simpler.)
(1) GM: The agme world.
(1) GM: And qutie a few other things.
(2) Kibin: (It's not that complicated. When you use a skill, you roll a number of dice based on your skill.)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Being a GM is fun, but it's lots of work. I burnt out GM'ing a forum game.)
(2) Kibin: (The results of the rolls determine what difficulty you passed. WHich is a number varying from 1 to above 5.)
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Anyway, I need to bathroom...)
(1) GM: Granted, I can make most of it up on the fly (never actually statted out The King, for instance; he's got saves+30, BAB+20, a total attack modifier such that he can power attack for 8 and still hit Kibin on an 11....
(2) Kibin: (Comeon. Matrixy!)
(1) GM: You never damaged him more than... 45 HP, this session (pre-collapse), was the record, and any fighter would have considerably more HP than that at 20.
(1) GM: But then I have to track the stuff I made up... and there's a fair amount of it. Much easier in a desert where only three cities have been mentioned, and the desert is expected to be basically featureless.
(2) Kibin: You can dodge bullets!
(2) Kibin: AND stop bullets in midair!
(1) GM: So.... what route next?
(2) Kibin: Bullet time..
(4) Seshra: (My personal preference would be ~9th level in the desert setting, although that depends on who's GMing)
(2) Kibin: I was planning on DMing, in a completely different world, using a prebuilt adventure.
(1) GM: I think I could cover that if need be.
(1) GM: Oh, and the <hr> thing (puts a line across the screen) was used so you don't need to worry about OOC stuff anymore.
(4) Seshra: Seems like first thing is "who wants to GM for a while"...
(2) Kibin: ...I've been volunteering for a while...
(1) GM: Yes, but there needs to be a fair amount of consneses.
(4) Seshra: yes, but is that for a one-off session or a long-term thing?
(1) GM: So on options, we've got:
(1) GM: (of those put on the table)
(1) GM: Kibin: 9 pre-built
(1) GM: Me 3-Gestalt
(1) GM: Me 9 Desert
(2) Kibin: One-off session, so that I can get experienced enough to run a full scale campaign.
(2) Kibin: We could also try the matrix RPG system!
(4) Seshra: well, especially since Douglas isn't here, seems that going with Kibin doing the 9-pre built today would be best.
(1) GM: So two votes for Nullashton-9 prebuilt. Narf?
(2) Kibin: Comeon.... shiney bullets and stuff.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Back.)
(2) Kibin: SHINEY GUNS AND SWORDS AND KUNG FU.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Gestalt? What's that ?)
(4) Seshra: take the best from 2 classes at each level
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Meh.)
(2) Kibin: Plus it's more simple.
(2) Kibin: [6d6] -> [1,5,1,4,4,1] = (16)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [4] = (4)
(1) GM: Basically, you take two classes, and take the best of each. A Fighter/Sorcerer would have a familiar, Sorcerer spellcasting, good Will and Fort saves, full marital wepaon proficiency, full BAB, d10 HD,2 skill points per level, and Fighter bonus feats.
(2) Kibin: See? 6d skill, had two successes so would pass an easy check.
(2) Kibin: Didn't complicate.
(2) Kibin: [3d6] -> [3,5,2] = (10)
(2) Kibin: 3d skill, got two successes, would pass on an easy check again.
(1) GM: Didn't they have open-ended d6's? So when you roll a 6, you re-roll and add the result to that die?
(2) Kibin: One dice, in this case the first die, is the 'wild dice'.
(1) GM: And then there's the little matter of tracking points in the skills, what the skills do, relationships between skills for when you have something that could be made to work but isn't perfect.....
(2) Kibin: If you roll a 6 on it, you get a success and roll it again.
(2) Kibin: If you roll a 1, you lose a succcess and roll again. On a 6, you have a critical failure, and complicate.
(2) Kibin: I worry about what the skills do.
(2) Kibin: You divide 7 dice among your skills.
(2) Kibin: Attributes you divide 18 dice among the skills.
(2) Kibin: With 1D minimum in an attribute, and 5D maximum.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: Or this
(2) Kibin: I like the D6 one better.
(2) Kibin: Because I actually know how to use it. :P
(2) Kibin: Character creation is a breeze, you just have to plop a bunch of dice in certain attributes and skills.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (You roll one d6 for Skill (You can have any, at level 3, or train higher) and on d6 for Matrix.)
(2) Kibin: [1d10] -> [4] = (4)
(2) Kibin: With this system, most of the thinking is done by the GM.
(2) Kibin: Which would be me.
(2) Kibin: I've read through it, and I understand it, and ready to use it. I just haven't had any players....
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Ok...)
(2) Kibin: (To make a character, plop dice into the attributes you want, plop dice into the skills you want, plop a dice into the neural you want, and then just roll with it.)
(2) Kibin: Comeon.!
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (I said Ok.)
(2) Kibin: Oh. Thought that was a different kind of okay with the periods.
** (2) Kibin pokes the other people. **
(1) GM: So... I suppose I can just grab a template.
(2) Kibin: You could.
(2) Kibin: You could grab a template, and alter skils and attributes around to make it more like what you want.
(4) Seshra: so we're going with the matrix thing?
(2) Kibin: I guess so. Yay!
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (I think it could be fun. Your vote?)
(4) Seshra: Sure, why not
(2) Kibin: Some interesting things. One, you can use character points to increase a die roll temporarily, but they're gone forever. You can also use them to improve a skill, attribute, neural, or matrix skill.
(2) Kibin: You also get chi points. You can use those to DOUBLE the dice you roll on a single action, and if it's particually dangerous, you get the chi point back. Only usable in the matrix, though.
(1) GM: Exile program, perhaps. Move the Perception skills into Technical.
(1) GM: Drop a die or two from Perception for Technical....
(2) Kibin: Don't forget that as an exile, neurals cost double.
(2) Kibin: Well, a program.
(1) GM: Perception and technical are both Neural, correct?
(2) Kibin: Hmmm?
(2) Kibin: Neurals are different.
(2) Kibin: They give you a +1 to a single attribute while in the matrix.
(1) GM: So that'd be things like Bargain, Con, and so forth?
(2) Kibin: There's quickness, awareness, and endurance.
(2) Kibin: Quickness adds to dexterity, awareness adds to perception, endurance adds to strength.
(1) GM: So they're not the things I'm trading from one to the other off the template, then?
(2) Kibin: As a program, you don't start with any neurals.
(2) Kibin: But you make up for it by having an extra attribute die to place.
(2) Kibin: And being able to have 6D be the limit, instead of 5D.
(1) GM: So something along the lines of...
(1) GM: The node I just sent.
(1) GM: Would be rules-valid?
(2) Kibin: Yup.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (My brain just fried.)
(2) Kibin: How? It's simple.
(2) Kibin: First, arrange 18 dice among your attributes.
(2) Kibin: Which are dexterity, knowledge, mechanical, perception, strength, and technical.
(1) GM: Trying to incorporate mosttof a new game system in one run isn't particularly simple.
(2) Kibin: Then if you're a resusicated person, you get a neural. This augments one of the 'physical' attributes, but only apply when you're in the matrix.
(2) Kibin: Then you choose skills.
(2) Kibin: The 'base' roll of a skill is the attribute.
(2) Kibin: The 7 dice that you put into skills make you 'proficient' in that skill, and add that dice to the base attribute roll.
(2) Kibin: So say you have 5D dexterity, with 1D quickness. In the matrix, your dexterity attribute would be 6D.
(2) Kibin: Right now if you try dodging, you roll 6D in the matrix, with a +1 to the difficulty modifier for no dice being in the skill.
(2) Kibin: But then you put 1D into the skill. This increases the roll to 7D, and you are 'proficient' in the skill, and thus you don't get +1 to the difficulty modifier.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Er, I thought the max Attribute was 4D.)
(2) Kibin: It's 5D.
(2) Kibin: 6D for programs.
(2) Kibin: Jack, you messed up a bit. You get three 0D skills per attribute.
(2) Kibin: Under each attribute. You can't take 0D skills from technical and add them to perception.
(1) GM: Not quite what happened; I copied the extra d's on the skills from Perception and moved it to Techncial, not noticing the 0d skill issue at all.
(1) GM: So I need to drop a few blank lines from Perception and add something to technical. Hmm.
(2) Kibin: Skills
(2) Kibin: When you get your characters done, we can have a sample combat in the construct, to get used to it.
(1) GM: So something more like Try 2
(2) Kibin: Yup.
(2) Kibin: Programs have no chi, though.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (Character sent.)
(2) Kibin: Uh.
(5) Quinn Padfoot: (What?)
(1) GM: Fixed; vaguely curious where that came from, though....
(2) Kibin: You might want to put 1D in seven different skills, instead of putting all of the dice into two skills.
(2) Kibin: You also forgot your 18 0D skills.
(5) Ray Den: (Why?
(2) Kibin: Well, see, if you don't have any dice whatsoever in a skill, the difficulty class of it is increased by 1.
(4) Seshra: wow, I'm so confused about skills...
(5) Ray Den: (Let's just play TINS...)
(5) Ray Den: (No, why 1D in seven different skills?)
(2) Kibin: Because then you can use more skills more effectively. There's still the matter of the various 0D skills, anyway.
(2) Kibin: You can have three 0D skills under each attribute.
(2) Kibin: You also need to choose 9 maneuvers, since you have martial arts at 9D.
(2) Kibin: Yeah. that works.
(5) Ray Den: Ray Den
(5) Ray Den: Attributes:
(5) Ray Den: Dexterity: 5D
(5) Ray Den: Acrobatics: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Firearms: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Martial Arts: 4D
(5) Ray Den: Heavy Weapons: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Running: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Knowledge: 3D
(5) Ray Den: Cultures: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Education: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Law: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Matrix Orientation: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Sciences: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Theology: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Mechanical: 1D
(5) Ray Den: Perception: 5D
(5) Ray Den: Command: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Con: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Faith: 3D
(5) Ray Den: Gambling: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Hide: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Investigation: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Multitasking: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Persuation: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Strength: 3D
(5) Ray Den: Technical: 1D
(5) Ray Den: Neurals:
(5) Ray Den: Quickness: 1D
(5) Ray Den: Awareness: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Endurance: 0D
(5) Ray Den: Skills:
(5) Ray Den: Chi: 1
(5) Ray Den: (Oops)
(2) Kibin: You have four 0D skills in dexterity.
(2) Kibin: It has to be three 0D skills for each attribute, I don't think you can put them all under a single attribute.
** (2) Kibin pokes Seshra to see how he's doing. **
(1) Etray: Well, while the rest of you finish up the fine points, I'll go grab a sandwich.
(4) Seshra: well, I think I'm doing OK... let me just run this by you
(5) Ray Den: Where's the rules about 0D skills?
(2) Kibin: Character creation.
(2) Kibin: Ooo, when did I get shiney DM status...
(2) Kibin: Anyway, it's under skills.
(2) Kibin: "Furthermore, each character can list 3 additional skills that they take at "0D" under each Attribute. The character does not suffer a +1 Difficulty modifier for these skills (but he will on all other skills not taken)."
(2) Kibin: Just put it in a text node and send it to me?
(4) Seshra: I wrote it on a printout...
(4) Seshra: could do that, though.
(1) Etray: Back.
(1) Etray: When I assigned it to you.
(1) Etray: Same time I turned mine off.
(2) Kibin: Didn't notice that.
(2) Kibin: I'll go grab a bite to eat too, a nice sandwich while you all finish your characters.
(1) Etray: Hmm... hack the matrix is a technical skill, right?
(1) Etray: Hmm... a Matrix skill. Hmm. Blank on the tmeplate.
(5) Ray Den: (Thanks.)
(1) Etray: But then, so are all of them, so....
(4) Seshra: oops. Kibin, also has 1D in Awareness, and 1 Chi point
(2) Kibin: You don't start with any matrix skills.
(1) Etray: Ah.
(5) Ray Den: (Done, I think.)
(5) Ray Den: (Do I need to tell anyone what my character looks like?)
(4) Chan: I suppose this would be easier if I'd actually seen the movie
(4) Chan: these people are human, right?
(2) Kibin: Heh.
(2) Kibin: Everyone is human. But the majority of humans have been hooked up into a virtual reality much like 20th century earth, providing power for the machines(Bad guys)
(2) Kibin: A few of the humans have escaped the matrix, however, and are fighting back against the machines. They can connect back to the matrix for short periods of time, thwarting the machines on the virtual world, since the machines vastly overpower them on the physical world.
(2) Kibin: The 'real world' is a dark and bleak place. Humanities cities have been destroyed, replaced by machine cities on the surface. Underground is where the free humans remain, with the central city being the city of zion.
(2) Kibin: The sky is just one dark cloud, because of the humans long ago scarring the skies to cut off their one energy source, sunlight.
(2) Kibin: You'll be on a hovership, having just been freed from the matrix(Or in Etray's case, being saved from deletion). The first situation will have you be in the 'construct', a virtual training worlds of sorts where you can practice without much danger.
(4) Chan: ok, sounds cool.
(2) Kibin: People that know the true nature of the matrix can alter the reality of the matrix, to do things such as dodge bullets or even stop them in midair.
(2) Kibin: And of course being faster and stronger than normal, which is represented by neurals.
(2) Kibin: Any questions, before we begin with you plugging into the construct for the first time?
(4) Chan: are we supposed to have any equipment?
(4) Chan: or is that all virtual stuff?
(2) Kibin: Heh. You have all the guns you could ever want.
(1) Etray: Yeah... what are the mechanics of programming things? Is that something done live in the matrix (Ooh, hey - I need a gun) and X rounds later, Gun, or done "offline" and then brought in with?
(2) Kibin: To create things in the matrix, you need to use a certain matrix skill.
(1) Etray: So they're coded offline and brought in, then.
(1) Etray: (for the most part).
(2) Kibin: Well, in the construct, you can create basically anything.
(2) Kibin: Guns, armor if you so desire, melee weapons...
(2) Kibin: And they stay loaded on your 'avatar' when you connect to the real matrix.
(2) Kibin: So when you go into the Matrix, you take a trip to the construct first, and then arm up with whatever you desire. Then go out into the matrix, carrying whatever you started off with.
(2) Kibin: Oh by the way, if you die in the matrix, you die in real life. "The body cannot live without the mind."
(2) Kibin: And to get in and out of the matrix, you have to use hardlinks, which look like telephones. So the danger in the matrix can be very real.
(2) Kibin: So, everyone ready now?
(1) Etray: Probably.
** (2) Kibin looks over to Ray Den and Chan.... hehe, Ray Den. **
(5) Ray Den: (I think so.)
(4) Chan: I'm ready
(2) Kibin:
(2) Kibin: (Okay, how do you make those neat horiziontal line thingies?)
(1) Etray: &3c;
(1) Etray: <hr>
(1) Etray: Hang on - you just did.
(1) Etray:
(2) Kibin: (I didn't see it.)
(1) Etray: (It's just above where you asked.)
(2) Kibin: (Ah, okay.)
(2) Kibin: Ray Den and Chan, having being freed from the matrix, is given the standard orientation course and skill upload. After a while, they are connected to the Construct, a completely white room except for one person... Etray.
(1) Etray: An unassuming man in a business suit.
(5) Ray Den: (Can we die here?)
(1) Etray: Ah, you're here. So, need anything in particular? I'm sure it can be arranged.
(2) Kibin: A voice from all around is heard, the voice of the operator running the simulation. "Meet Etray, our 'ghost in the system'. Once you've made your introductions, we get to go to the fun part: A combat sim."
(5) Ray Den: "I..." *Strikes a pose* "...Am Ray. Ray Den."
(1) Etray: Well, I just cobble together a few little things to help out every here and there. Not much use in a fight, though. Still, if you find you need some custom matrix equipment, I can probably take care of it, sooner or later.
(4) Chan: "Chan Siu Bao. Etray, right?"
(5) Ray Den: * Coat billows out behind him.
(1) Etray: Yep. That would be me. Mr. Ghost.
(1) Etray: So, what does food really taste like?
(4) Chan: "Nothing too spectacular..."
(1) Etray: I've never been able to figure out where they got the flavor algorythms for things like steak, chicken, and such. How closely do they model the real thing?
(4) Chan: (Would we know? not sure I understand the concept)
(1) Etray: (It's a joke - in the world of the Matrix, the real thing is simply no longer available)
(2) Kibin: (All you eat in the real world is reconstituted food paste. Heh.)
(5) Ray Den: "What is 'Real'?..."
(1) Etray: That which exists outside the bounds of the matrix.
(1) Etray: In other words, not me.
(5) Ray Den: "...No, I'm pretty sure it's a float variable."
(1) Etray: Then again, I'm not technically inside the bounds of the matrix at the moment...... hmm.
** (4) Chan snorts and laughs at that **
(1) Etray: Does that make me real? Ah well, leave that to the likes of Socrates. Meanwhile.... who's up for a tank?
(1) Etray: I've never driven one before... could be fun.
(5) Ray Den: "I've heard they go very well with tea."
(4) Chan: "Sounds interesting."
(2) Kibin: While everyone is talking, racks of guns seem to be moved in from somewhere in the infinite expanse of the construct. They stop around the three persons in the construct, filled with guns and equipment of every imaginable kind, and going on to infinity. "While you're talking, go ahead and stock up with whatever weapons you desire. Don't worry, I'll pay for them."
** (5) Ray Den shall take two Desert Eagles and lots of reloads. **
** (4) Chan looks over the racks **
(1) Etray: Ah, yes.... let's see... a rifle, some reloads, and maybe a .45
(2) Kibin: (How many bullets to a cartridge do desert eagles have?)
(1) Etray: Do you not have any tanks on file? I'm fairly sure I could fix that, if you like. But then, I suppose they're not overly useful for normal business, are they?
(5) Ray Den: (17)
(4) Chan: "Well... let's see..."
(5) Ray Den: (Less powerfull than the average, though.)
** (4) Chan grabs a long curved sword and gives it a few experimental swishes. "This looks interesting..." **
(2) Kibin: Operator: "You can't very well hide tanks in your outfit, can you?"
(1) Etray: How do you hide a tank? The point of a tank is generally something other than hiding... but I suppose hiding is most of what we need, isn't it? Ah well.
** (4) Chan picks up two stun pistols as well. **
(5) Ray Den: (Does martial arts include melee weapons?)
(2) Kibin: "That, and uploading you into the Matrix is easy. Uploading a tank into the Matrix is hard."
(2) Kibin: (Um, I'm checking up on that, just a second.)
(2) Kibin: (The answer is... apparently so. Hmmm.)
(2) Kibin: (Wait, no.)
(2) Kibin: (It uses the Melee Weapons skill.)
(4) Chan: "We'll need stealth, won't we..."
** (4) Chan puts the sword back **
(2) Kibin: (Oh, and for the desert eagles, I'm counting them as a high powered handgun.)
(2) Kibin: Operator: "Just tell me when you have the equipment you would like, and I'll load the lobby program."
(1) Etray: Oh, a nice, long-range rifle and a heavy handgun will do the job, I imaigne.
(5) Ray Den: (Hmm, must have been thinking of something else, but DE will do.)
(4) Chan: "Hmm, might as well have one of these along..."
** (4) Chan grabs a submachine gun and several clips for it **
(1) Etray: So... who shoots first?
** (5) Ray Den will grab his reloads in the form of more DE's. **
(2) Kibin: Operator: "Depends on how fast you react."
(1) Etray: Well, heavy handgun, automatic rifle... I'm about covered.
(2) Kibin: Ray Den: [3d6] -> [6,4,4] = (14) Chan [2d6] -> [2,2] = (4) Etray [2d6] -> [4,4] = (8)
(5) Ray Den: (Whazzat?)
(2) Kibin: (Health.)
(1) Etray: Chan had no successes on Health?
(2) Kibin: (Well, that just means he has low health.)
(2) Kibin: (Ray Den, 16 health. Chan, 8 health. Etray, 10 health.)
(2) Kibin: (Oh wait...)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [6] = (6)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [6] = (6)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [4] = (4)
(2) Kibin: (Ray Den, 32 health...)
(1) Etray: I take it Ray Den is very, very healthy today?
(2) Kibin: (Yup.)
(2) Kibin: (First dice is always wild dice. Three critical successes in a row...)
(2) Kibin: (Oh wait, you add that to 20.)
(5) Ray Den: Ray Den...is just that cool.
(2) Kibin: (So 52 for Rayden, 28 for Chan, 30 for Etray.)
(1) Etray: I'm curious as to the choice of maths used...
(2) Kibin: (Hmmm? Under characters, for health.)
(2) Kibin: (Rayden got a 6, a 4, and a 4 on regular dice. That's 16 there.)
(2) Kibin: (Rolling a 1 or a 2 gets you 4 body points. Rolling a 3, 4, or 5 gets you 5 body points. Rolling a 6 gets you 6.)
(1) Etray: Ah, okay.
(2) Kibin: (Rolling a 6 on the wild die means you get 6 and reroll. Rolling another 6 means you get ANOTHER 6 and reroll....)
(2) Kibin: Operator: "So, ready?"
(4) Chan: "Any time."
** (5) Ray Den pulls out two DE's. "I was born ready..." **
(2) Kibin: (Heh. Ray Den is having fun with this, I see.)
(1) Etray: Well, I don't imagine I'll last long, but sure.
(5) Ray Den: ( :D )
(5) Ray Den: (It's a Matrix game. Where would I get the idea I should be serious?)
(2) Kibin: (Point taken.)
(5) Ray Den: (The whole movie is essentially one big excuse for cool.)
(2) Kibin: Operator: "Don't worry, I'll pull you out if you're in danger."
(1) Etray: Right. Be "seeing" you soon.
(2) Kibin: (Cruise control for cool? *pokes Chan*)
(4) Chan: (yep)
(5) Ray Den: (Cruise control...Is set for maximum cool.)
(5) Ray Den: (And yes, he *Is* obsessed with speaking in cliches.)
(2) Kibin: The scene shifts, to a goverment lobby. Stone walls and pillars, with an empty security checkin point behind you, and an elevator inside the wall 10 meters in front of you. The elevator dings, and a lone security guard steps out. "I'll start you out easy..."
(1) Etray: Let's see... order of Perception scores... so Roll Perception?
(1) Etray: [3d6] -> [1,4,6] = (11)
(1) Etray: Ouch. [1d6] -> [3] = (3)
(4) Chan: [3d6] -> [5,3,2] = (10)
(2) Kibin: (Uh, no. No rolling for initiative.)
(1) Etray: Ah. So how do you resolve ties?
(2) Kibin: (If you have high perception, you always go first...)
(5) Ray Den: [5d6] -> [5,1,3,2,3] = (14)
(2) Kibin: (Uh. Opposed roll I suppose.)
(1) Etray: So Ray Den, Chan, Etray.
(2) Kibin: (Not that it matters, Ray Den goes first, followed by Chan, then Etray. Chan, don't forget that you have a 4D perception in the matrix.)
(1) Etray: Plus the "guard", somewhere.
(4) Chan: (oh, right... the Awareness point?)
(2) Kibin: (Right, standard policeman, perception 2D. Poor guard goes last.)
(1) Etray: So... Ray Den shoots first?
(2) Kibin: (Yup. Don't forget you can act multiple times in the same round, by applying a penalty to all actions.)
(2) Kibin: (Take two actions, you get a -1D to all actions taken.)
(5) Ray Den: [Bad dice format] - [Multitasking [5d6], Firearms [6d6] -> [2,5,6,3,4,3] = (23), Running [6d6] -> [3,1,2,6,4,2] = (18) (To get next to the guard))
(2) Kibin: (Also don't forget that it takes an action to dodge, so if you're planning on dodging, keep an extra action in reserve.)
(5) Ray Den: [5d6] -> [6,1,5,5,2] = (19)
(2) Kibin: (You can move 10 meters in a round automatically.
(5) Ray Den: (Ok, then - Martial arts [10d6] -> [5,5,6,1,3,3,1,2,6,1] = (33), once next to the guard.)
(1) Etray: Combat Monster, I take it?
(2) Kibin: Dodge: [4d6] -> [3,3,1,2] = (9)
(5) Ray Den: (Oh yeah.)
(2) Kibin: (Hmmm. That would be.... 6 successes, 4 above what was needed, so...)
(5) Ray Den: (With a name like Ray Den, what do you expect? :D )
(5) Ray Den: (Since he can't shoot lightning bolts...Yet... :D )
(1) Etray: (Ah, Mortal Combat refference! Got it.)
(1) Etray: (Need to code a lightning gun for you pronto, then)
(2) Kibin: (5D base, 3D from strength, 4D from successes above what was needed, 12D damage then.)
(5) Ray Den: (More the movie look than anything else, since I've barely played the games a long time ago.)
(5) Ray Den: [12d6] -> [2,4,4,3,4,6,2,4,4,2,2,4] = (41)
(2) Kibin: [3d6] -> [2,4,4] = (10)
(1) Etray: (Splattered guard?)
(2) Kibin: (34 health for mister security guard, you did 7 damage.)
(1) Etray: (Ah, 7 successes, gotcha).
(1) Etray: (I keep looking at the totals....)
(2) Kibin: (Then there's the armor... just a second again.)
(5) Ray Den: (How is damage calculated?)
(1) Etray: (Apparently in a complex manner)
(2) Kibin: (There's a base value. For unarmed attacks, 2D plus 1D every three ranks in martial arts.)
(2) Kibin: (Then you add your strength to the unarmed attack roll.)
(5) Ray Den: (Yeah, but how is it calculated off of the dice?)
(2) Kibin: (Then you add how many successes you got above their roll. As you got 4 above the required successes to hit, you do an extra 4D damage.)
(2) Kibin: (Basically, every success is a point of damage.
(2) Kibin: (A success is when you roll 3-6 on a die.)
(2) Kibin: (A failure is when you roll 1-2.)
(2) Kibin: (Make sense now?)
(2) Kibin: (Your damage was 12D, you got 7 successes.... 8 actually, thus you did 8 damage.)
(5) Ray Den: (Ok, thanks.)
(5) Ray Den: (Er, seems rather pathetic for a Matrix game - And what about the firearm?)
(1) Etray: (So now it's Chan's turn?)
(2) Kibin: (Yup.)
(4) Chan: (OK, so run up and also try my... not so good martial arts on him..)
(2) Kibin: (You know that heavy handguns do 5Dx3 damage?)
(4) Chan: (umm... just a sec...)
(4) Chan: (phone call)
(5) Ray Den: (I had a firearm roll in there. Using the gun and the martial arts is what the Multitasking roll was *For*.)
(2) Kibin: (....oh.)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [4] = (4)
(2) Kibin: (Well, firearm next action then?)
(2) Kibin: (You got high enough to get one additional action without penalty.)
(5) Ray Den: (Two firearms rolls next time?)
(5) Ray Den: (Or, I should say, additional firearms roll next time?)
(2) Kibin: (No, next action, you get to use a firearm. Next action in this round.)
(5) Ray Den: (Oh.)
(2) Kibin: (You get a single action at the start of the round, then the rest of the actions are after everyone else has gone once.)
(2) Kibin: (Sorry if it's confusing, new system and all.)
(2) Kibin: (Okay, Chan delays until after Etray. Etray?)
(1) Etray: Oh, let's try a few shots from the automatic rifle.
(1) Etray: Three shots per round in single-shot mode... now is that maximum (e.g., takes three actions in the round) or per action?
(2) Kibin: (Want to try for additional actions, or take a -1D on your rolls toget another action?)
(2) Kibin: (Three shouts would take three actions.)
(2) Kibin: (That's the maximum, takes three actions in a round.)
(1) Etray: Nah, sticking with one action, for now, then... any pillars or other things to hide behind?
(2) Kibin: (But you can use semiautomatic fire for two bursts of 3 bullets each, or you could spray fire.)
(2) Kibin: (And yes, there's a pillar to the right that you can hide behind.)
(1) Etray: Meh, it's just an excercise, I suppose. Spray!
(1) Etray: +1d to hit, and Firearms 3, so[4d6] -> [4,3,5,5] = (17)
(2) Kibin: (Or you can concentrate fire.)
(1) Etray: Well, with one target, yeah, concentrating fire on the guard, emptying the clip into him.
(5) Ray Den: (Don't hit Rays' hat! Don't hit Rays' hat!)
(2) Kibin: (Which since there's one target...)
(5) Ray Den: (I'm sorry. I have no control over what this maniac considers important.)
(1) Etray: So do I roll 50 attacks, or just the one? Do I roll damage 50 times, or just the once?
(5) Ray Den: (And he insists on talking in third person.)
(2) Kibin: (How far away? 10 meters?)
(1) Etray: That's how far away he started, and I'm not going to go towards him, so yes.
(1) Etray: Then go behind a nice pillar for the inevitable repercussions.
(1) Etray: And to reload.
(1) Etray: [7d6] -> [1,1,1,4,3,6,4] = (20)*4 damage?
(2) Kibin: (Yeah, within short range. Roll 7D for damage.)
(1) Etray: Oh, wild die!
(1) Etray: [1d6] -> [1] = (1)
(2) Kibin: (Yup... hmmmm...)
(1) Etray: [1d6] -> [6] = (6)
(5) Ray Den: (Complication....Ray does not approve of this.)
(1) Etray: Oh, wait - further 1's are just failures on the Wild. Cool, no complication.
(2) Kibin: (No, it's only once. You avoid it being a complication.)
(2) Kibin: (You just get a -1 to the total successes.)
(2) Kibin: (So 3 successes, for a total of 12 damage.)
(1) Etray: So I have... what, net 3 successes on the damage, at *4, for 12 damage dealt.
(1) Etray: (I think.)
(2) Kibin: (And for simplicities sake, we'll ignore the wound effects...)
(2) Kibin: (Yup.)
(2) Kibin: (Chan back yet?)
(4) Chan: (yeah)
(2) Kibin: (Action!)
(4) Chan: (changed mind. I'll shoot at the guard with my semiautomatic)
(4) Chan: (submachine gun, that's it. Anyways...)
(2) Kibin: (Concentrating fire? And only one action?)\
(4) Chan: (Only one action, concentrating fire)
(2) Kibin: (Okay then, roll 3D. And roll high.)
(4) Chan: [3d6] -> [4,1,3] = (8)
(4) Chan: (That'd be... 3 from Dex, -1 for unskilled, +1 for concentrating?)
(2) Kibin: (Shots go wide, barely missing Ray Den. Yup.)
(5) Ray Den: "Watch the hat!"
(2) Kibin: (You basically had to get either all three successes, or got lucky on the wild die.)
(2) Kibin: (Security guards turn!)
(1) Etray: *Behind Pillar!*
(5) Ray Den: (...Maybe I should have used a manuever...)
(5) Ray Den: (Flip him onto the ground, *Then* fill him full of lead.)
(2) Kibin: The security guard gets grazed by the automatic fire and hit in the stomach from Ray Den, and he scrambles to take out his pistol to shoot Ray Den in the stomach.
(2) Kibin: [5d6] -> [3,2,3,5,6] = (19)
(2) Kibin: (Dodging?)
(5) Ray Den: [5d6] -> [1,1,4,2,5] = (13)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [5] = (5)
(5) Ray Den: (Ouch.)
(2) Kibin: (So close. You fail, though.)
(2) Kibin: (*Also ignoring that that would take up an action too, and be at -2D...*)
(2) Kibin: [4d6] -> [4,4,5,5] = (18)
(2) Kibin: (Take 12 damage!)
(2) Kibin: (Ray Den's action again, still round 1.)
(2) Kibin: (Perhaps try a maneuver?)
(5) Ray Den: (What's the options for firearms?)
(2) Kibin: (Shoot, shoot, and shoot faster.)
(1) Etray: (Don't forget "shoot everybody in a general direction")
(2) Kibin: (Perhaps a spinning kick?)
(5) Ray Den: (Flip him onto the ground.)
(5) Ray Den: [10d6] -> [1,6,5,5,5,5,3,4,5,4] = (43)
(5) Ray Den: [1d6] -> [6] = (6)
(5) Ray Den: (Owch.)
(2) Kibin: (....complication. Hmmm.)
(1) Etray: (Hmm... can I split the automatic move for later around another action?)
(2) Kibin: (But that appears to only apply if you fail.....)
(2) Kibin: (Or instant failure. Hmmm.)
(2) Kibin: (Automatic move?)
(1) Etray: (looking to find the mechanics of shooting from behind the pillar, basically)
(2) Kibin: (Well, as long as you have movement, I believe you can simply move out of hiding, shoot, and then back to behind the pillar.)
(1) Etray: (Plan in place for next round then ... well, after reloading the *empty* gun....)
(2) Kibin: (Just a second, seeing what the penalties for being on the ground is.)
(2) Kibin: (Apparently no penalty, huh.)
(5) Ray Den: (I believe the penalties are listed in Martial Arts)
(2) Kibin: Ray Den tries to flip the security guard, but messes up due to his wound and instead is off balance. (-1D to all actions next round.)
(2) Kibin: (( Ah, it's apparently an action to stand.)
(2) Kibin: (Anyway, your turn again, since you go first in initiative .Round 2. )
(5) Ray Den: (Multitasking: [4d6] -> [4,5,2,4] = (15)
(5) Ray Den: Firearms: [5d6] -> [6,4,5,1,3] = (19))
(5) Ray Den: [1d6] -> [3] = (3)
(2) Kibin: (Didn't manage to do two actions, sorry.)
(5) Ray Den: (I know. So I shot once.)
(2) Kibin: ((5 successes, more enough for a 2 difficulty to fire at a point blank target... desert eagles, right?)
(5) Ray Den: (Yep.)
(2) Kibin: (5Dx3 damage then.)
(5) Ray Den: (5d6)
(5) Ray Den: [5d6] -> [2,6,3,6,1] = (18)
(5) Ray Den: (Why only x3?)
(2) Kibin: (That's it for the high-powered handgun?)
(5) Ray Den: (...I thought firearms were x5?)
(2) Kibin: (Handguns are x2. Heavy handguns are x3. Submachine gunes are x4. Automatic rifles also x4.)
(5) Ray Den: (Ah. thanks.)
(2) Kibin: (For bursts that is.)
(5) Ray Den: (Seven/eight rounds, I think, from the wikipedia.)
(2) Kibin: (Rounds, yes. Not that it matters.)
(2) Kibin: (Chan?)
(5) Ray Den: Desert Eagle
(4) Chan: (try another burst with the submachine gun...)
(4) Chan: [3d6] -> [1,5,5] = (11)
(4) Chan: [1d6] -> [1] = (1)
(2) Kibin: (You hit air again.)
(2) Kibin: (Etray?)
(1) Etray: Reloading.
(1) Etray: Do I need a roll?
(2) Kibin: (No, it just takes an action to reload. Want another action at -1D to everything?)
(2) Kibin: (Or two at -2D, and so on...)
(1) Etray: (Nah - Combat's not his thing. Methodical individual.)
(2) Kibin: (Security guard, then...)
(2) Kibin: The security guard gets hit by another bullet in a limb, going for two quick shots at Ray Den. (Two actions, -1D to both rolls.)
(5) Ray Den: (Hmm...Idea for an RPG - Long-lived beings such as elves can take skills to amazing heights, but sufer from increasingly narrow focus.)
(2) Kibin: [5d6] -> [3,2,6,5,6] = (22)
(2) Kibin: (Dodging?)
(2) Kibin: (At -2D.)
(5) Ray Den: [4d6] -> [1,4,6,3] = (14)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [2] = (2)
(2) Kibin: Damage: [5d6] -> [3,3,6,2,5] = (19)
(2) Kibin: (8 damage for the first shot.... since Ray Den is at half health, he's taken out of the simulation.)
(5) Ray Den: (He's down to 32.)
(5) Ray Den: (Out of 52. If I'm counting right.)
(2) Kibin: (... oh yeah, you have 52 health, don't you.)
(1) Etray: (Half would be 27)
(2) Kibin: (You were lucky. Heh.)
(2) Kibin: (Shot two...)
(2) Kibin: [4d6] -> [2,3,5,5] = (15)
(2) Kibin: (Dodging at 3D, for third action?)
(2) Kibin: (-3D, that is.)
(5) Ray Den: (Well, I don't have anything else to do. [3d6] -> [2,3,1] = (6))
(2) Kibin: (Don't forget you're at another -1D for it not being one of your skills...)
(5) Ray Den: (Eh. Either way, one succes)
(2) Kibin: [5d6] -> [5,6,2,6,1] = (20)
(2) Kibin: (6 damage. What are you down to?)
(2) Kibin: (26. Ah.)
(2) Kibin: (Exactly half.... eh, you can stay in the simulation for now.)
(2) Kibin: (Ray den? You can fire both weapons in the same round.)
(5) Ray Den: [Bad dice format] - [Multitasking: [5d6])
(5) Ray Den: (Multitasking: [5d6] -> [2,5,6,4,1] = (18))
(2) Kibin: (Didn't make the multitasking roll. Want to still have two actions(or more) at a -1D penalty per extra action?)
(5) Ray Den: Firearms: [6d6] -> [5,4,2,4,4,4] = (23), [4d6] -> [6,3,4,2] = (15)
(2) Kibin: (Uh, actually it would be....)
(2) Kibin: [4d6] -> [3,4,2,2] = (11) [4d6] -> [2,6,5,1] = (14)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [6] = (6)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [5] = (5)
(2) Kibin: (Forgot quickness. So both hit.)
(2) Kibin: (Damage?)
(5) Ray Den: (How much?)
(5) Ray Den: (4d?)
(2) Kibin: (5Dx3 for both.)
(5) Ray Den: ([5d6] -> [2,3,1,4,4] = (14), [5d6] -> [4,6,4,4,2] = (20))
(5) Ray Den: ([7*5] -> 35)
(5) Ray Den: (Whoops)
(5) Ray Den: [7*3] -> 21
(2) Kibin: (9 and 12 damage, then. Guard is very very dead.)
(2) Kibin: [5d6.vs(4)] -> [6,5,6,4,6] = (5)
(2) Kibin: [5d6.vs(4)] -> [2,5,4,5,4] = (4)
(2) Kibin: [5d6.vs(4)] -> [3,4,6,3,5] = (3)
(2) Kibin: [5d6.vs(3)] -> [6,1,4,6,5] = (4)
(1) Etray: Back in several minutes.
(4) Chan: (just realised I put skill into Multitasking...)
(5) Ray Den: "Ray Den...Did not fail his first test."
(5) Ray Den: (Is there provision for circumstantial modifiers?)
(2) Kibin: (Yup.)
(2) Kibin: Operator: "Good, good.... except that Ray got shot three times, that is."
(2) Kibin: [5d6.vs(3)*3] -> 6
(2) Kibin: [Bad dice format] - [Meh, that doesn't work...]
(2) Kibin: (Use .vs(3) at the end of all your dierolls from now on. Simplifies things.)
(2) Kibin: [9d7.vs(3)] -> [5,6,4,2,1,7,7,4,6] = (7)
(2) Kibin: [9d6.vs(3)] -> [3,5,5,3,5,4,4,4,1] = (8)
(5) Ray Den: "Practice, my friends. The key to survival. That, and hacking the matrix."
(4) Chan: "I must admit I'm more confident with the technical aspects, rather than fighting."
(2) Kibin: (By the way.... bonus time! You all get 6 CP to invest into one matrix abilitiy.)
(4) Chan: (yay!)
(4) Chan: (sadly, I have to go soon, though...)
(4) Chan: (Been fun and interesting)
(2) Kibin: (We can stop here until two weeks away.)
(2) Kibin: (That way I can get better aquianted with the system.)
(5) Ray Den: (How much Hack the Matrix can that buy me?)
(2) Kibin: (1D. :P)
(2) Kibin: (...okay, since 1D is kind of weak... 10 CPs instead of 6! You can increase it to 2D. :P)
(4) Chan: (cool...)
(4) Chan: (well, I guess I'll see you on the forums)
(5) Ray Den: (Oooh...Thanks. :D)
(4) Chan: Disconnecting from server...
(4) Chan (exit): 18:09
(2) Kibin: Operator: "Okay, that's enough for the day."
(5) Ray Den: (So...Endline?)
(2) Kibin: (Unless you want another sample combat by yourself.)
(5) Ray Den: (Nah.)
(5) Ray Den: (Does it have provision for circumstantial modifiers?)
(2) Kibin: (Comeon, anotehr sample combat please? Bored, and want to get the hang of the system.)
** (5) Ray Den pokes Etray **
(5) Ray Den: (If we can get two. RP'ing is boring with only one.)
(2) Kibin: (By the way, record your 52. That's your 'permanent' body score.)
(1) Etray: Back. Sorry, it took so long.
(1) Etray: So I need to note down the "body" score of 30? Okay.
(1) Etray: And I get 2d matrix skill? Handy.\
(1) Etray: Yay! hack the matrix!
(2) Kibin: Yay, +1 to jump rolls if you're lucky!
(1) Etray: (prerequisite Assembly...)
(1) Etray: (prerequisite FOR Assembly...)
(2) Kibin: (True, true. Betcha Etray will love asembly. :)
(1) Etray: Oh yes. "Talk to the wall"
(1) Etray: Well, okay, not that fast, mind.... still funny.
(2) Kibin: By the way, a tip... don't annoy agents.
(2) Kibin: All attributes are at 6D, all skills are at 10D.
(1) Etray: But also Adhesion, Alter Residual Image, and so on.
(1) Etray: Hmm... no requirements on Clone for a program....
(2) Kibin: Clone attracts the attention of the machines, which you don't want.
(2) Kibin: That, and someone needs ti add it to the code. Which is basically "When the GM thinks you should have it"
(1) Etray: True.
(2) Kibin: So another combat?
(5) Ray Den: (Sure.)
(1) Etray: (sure).
(1) Etray: (Sorry, phone rang)
(2) Kibin: The next day, you decide to do another combat simulation, but Chan doesn't feel up to it. So the operator jacks you in,with you finding yourself in the construct again, surrounded by guns.
(5) Ray Den: (Is there a disadvantage to choosing an automatic weapon?)
(1) Etray: Concealability, mostly, which doesn't apply to the simulations.
(1) Etray: (grr! Keep forgetting to put in the brackets!)
(1) Etray: (You don't walk around downtown DC carrying an Automatic Rifle)
(5) Ray Den: "Ray Den...Wants a bigger gun."
(2) Kibin: Operator: "There are automatic rifles... keep in mind though that you won't have them, though."
(2) Kibin: "On the field, that is."
(1) Etray: Yeah, I suppose I'll try for a few light handguns. Save on reloading time, if nothing else.
(5) Ray Den: "We all have limitations...Of our minds, if nothing else."
** (5) Ray Den will take desrt eagles. **
(2) Kibin: (How many handguns?)
(1) Etray: Oh, two, plus reloads. Try multiple actions in a round, this time around.
(5) Ray Den: (Many as I can hide.
(2) Kibin: (It's an action to draw weapons, by the way, and two actions to reload dual guns.)
(1) Etray: (Ah. Well, which is better; two 2d6 chances to hit or 1 3d6?)
(2) Kibin: (I'll assume that you have an infinite number of guns, then, since it won't matter too much...)
(5) Ray Den: (That's why he's taking more than two guns.)
(2) Kibin: (To hit someone point blank, it's a difficulty of 2.)
(2) Kibin: Operator: "So, what do you want to try today? Another lone policeman, or a couple of them?"
(5) Ray Den: "What does not kill me makes me stronger...Or hurts a lot."
(2) Kibin: (Go with dual light handguns.)
(2) Kibin: "Okay... two policemen then. Ready for the lobby program to be loaded?"
(1) Etray: And need a 3 or higher per success; let's see... chance of two hitting: 2/3 * 2/3 * 2/3 *2/3 = 16/81; chance of one hitting, 2*(2/3*2/3)(2/3*2/3)=32/81; chance of a lone shot hitting... a little harder to figure; four ways to do it, 2/3, 2/3, 2/3 or 3 * 1/3 2/3 2/3; 8/27+3*4/27....
(2) Kibin: (Just go with two. Two are cool, yo.)
(1) Etray: (Mathmatically, two IS better)
(1) Etray: (by a fairly slim margin)
(1) Etray: (Anyway....)
(1) Etray: Yeah, I'm about ready. I'm surprise I outlasted the first.
(2) Kibin: "Very well. Loading the simulation, good luck."
(1) Etray: Thanks; I'm sure I'll need it.
(2) Kibin: The simulation is loaded, and you are back in the goverment lobby. The elevator dings again, and this time two policemen step out.
(2) Kibin: (You know the combat order. Ray Den?)
(5) Ray Den: (Multitasking: [5d6] -> [4,6,3,5,4] = (22)
(5) Ray Den: Firearms: [6d6] -> [4,2,5,1,4,4] = (20), [5d6] -> [3,5,4,4,5] = (21))
(5) Ray Den: (4 and 5)
(2) Kibin: (One action to draw the weapons.)
(5) Ray Den: Firearms: [5d6] -> [5,4,6,2,2] = (19).vs(3), [4d6] -> [1,5,2,1] = (9).vs(3)
(5) Ray Den: Firearms: [5d6.vs(3)] -> [6,4,4,5,2] = (4), [4d6.vs(3)] -> [5,1,6,2] = (2)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [2] = (2)
(2) Kibin: (By the way.... are you shooting both shots at one of them or both shots at two of them?)
(1) Etray: Concentrate your fire! They aren't particularly hampered by minor wounds, better to take one out first to cut off how hard they can hurt back.
(2) Kibin: (*shrugs* Damage?)
(2) Kibin: (5d6 for both, remember that.)
(5) Ray Den: [5d6.vs(3)] -> [5,5,3,1,3] = (4), [5d6.vs(3) - At one target.
(5) Ray Den: [5d6.vs(3)] -> [5,1,4,4,5] = (4), [5d6.vs(3)] -> [6,5,2,2,1] = (2) - At one target.
(5) Ray Den: (18 damage)
(2) Kibin: Victim 1: [3d6] -> [2,1,2] = (5)
(2) Kibin: Victim 2: [3d6] -> [3,5,2] = (10)
(5) Ray Den: (Can I aim that at one target?)
(2) Kibin: (Victim 1 has 32 health. Victim two has 34 health. Victim 1 is now at 14 points of health. And yes, you can fire both shots at one target.)
(1) Etray: (My turn?)
(2) Kibin: (Yup. The security guard that was shot fell prone, and is now on the ground and in pain.)
(1) Etray: So I draw and Fire.
(1) Etray: Hmm... total costs for drawing and firing both weapons.... is that even possible? Oh well, probably just the one...
(1) Etray: Firearms: [2d6.vs(3)] -> [5,4] = (2)
(2) Kibin: (Wait just a second.)
(1) Etray: Test: [2d6.vs(3)] -> [5,6] = (2)
(2) Kibin: (If you draw the weapons and then shoot in the same round, shooting occurs after the guards action.)
(1) Etray: (Ah. Fun. Do the guards start with drawn weapons?)
(2) Kibin: (Nope.)
(1) Etray: (So, practically speaking, in the first round, there's not too much differnece... unless the guards decide to try unarmed attacks vs. people drawing weapons.)
(2) Kibin: (Correct.)
(2) Kibin: (Draw this round, and then wait to shoot until next round?)
(1) Etray: (Looks like)
(2) Kibin: (Guards turns...)
(1) Etray: (or rather, going with the two actions in the round - one draw, one fire; fire after guards draw)
(2) Kibin: The first security guard gets to his feet(3 total actions for him), the second security guard draws his gun and points it at Ray Den(2 total actions for him.)
(2) Kibin: (Etray?)
(1) Etray: Second action, to fire at the guard who just stood: Firearms: [2d6.vs(3)] -> [3,1] = (1)
(1) Etray: Drat. Silly me, not being able to hit the broad side of a barn...
(2) Kibin: (Ooops, there is a -1D penalty to shots with the offhand. My bad, it would be 3D/2D.)
(2) Kibin: The bullet whizzes by the side of the guards head and impacts the wall behind him, as that guard draws his weapon. The second guard then fires his weapon at Ray Den.... reacting to it and dodging at a -3D penalty?
(5) Ray Den: (What's the roll?)
(2) Kibin: -4D, my bad.... yeah, you'd probably do better with the default difficulty of 3 to hit. 1D for you.
(2) Kibin: Firearm roll: [4d6.vs(3)] -> [2,2,1,6] = (1)
(2) Kibin: Which the guard tried firing a little too fast, and ended up firing a bullet into the floor in front of Ray Den. The second guard fires, and...
(2) Kibin: Firearm roll: [1d6.vs(3)] -> [5] = (1)
(2) Kibin: Which also ends up hitting the floor, as the guard is in too much pain to aim accurately. Round two, Ray Den?
(5) Ray Den: (Multitasking roll: [5d6] -> [6,1,5,6,2] = (20))
(2) Kibin: Sorry, you need four successes.)
(5) Ray Den: [1d6] -> [5] = (5)
(2) Kibin: Still taking two actions to fire?
(5) Ray Den: (Oh look, four successes)
(2) Kibin: ...which you do get, by a stroke of luck.
(5) Ray Den: Firearms: [6d6.vs(3)] -> [2,5,6,2,1,6] = (3), [Bad dice format] - [5d6.vs[3)]
(5) Ray Den: Firearms: [6d6.vs(3)] -> [6,2,5,6,2,2] = (3), [5d6.vs(3)] -> [4,2,5,4,6] = (4)
(2) Kibin: (As it's at medium range, the first shot misses... roll 5d6x3 for damage then.)
(5) Ray Den: [(5d6.vs(3))*3] -> 6
(2) Kibin: (Don't do that, I can't see the wild die.)
(5) Ray Den: [(5d6.vs(3))] -> [6,5,5,5,5] = (5)
(5) Ray Den: [1d6] -> [1] = (1)
(5) Ray Den: [1d6] -> [2] = (2)
(5) Ray Den: [4*3] -> 12
(2) Kibin: One of the shots hits the ground, while the other shot lands in the guards head and kills him. Etray?
(1) Etray: Firing.....
(1) Etray: Twice, with the one gun.
(1) Etray: Firearms: [2d6.vs(3)] -> [4,4] = (2)
(1) Etray: (And the range is too high, isn't it?)
(2) Kibin: (You need to get a 3 to hit, yup.)
(1) Etray: Hmm... need to get closer.... I suppose that won't be too tricky.... they usually go for the dangerous targets first....
(2) Kibin: The guard fires bullets as fast as he can at Ray Den. (Three actions, all actions at -2D.)
(2) Kibin: [3d6.vs(3)] -> [4,5,6] = (3)
(2) Kibin: Damage: [5d6.vs(3)] -> [4,6,6,4,4] = (5)
(2) Kibin: (One bullet into Ray Den, for 10 damage.)
(2) Kibin: (You are now stunned, suffering a -1D to all skill and attribute dice for the rest of this round and the next.)
(2) Kibin: (Etray?)
(1) Etray: Second attack: Firearms: [2d6.vs(3)] -> [6,3] = (2)
(1) Etray: [1d6] -> [4] = (4)
(1) Etray: (Hey! Three successes!)
(2) Kibin: (It's a hit, damage?)
(1) Etray: [5d6.vs(3)] -> [2,4,3,5,2] = (3)
(1) Etray: (*2 for a total of 6.)
(2) Kibin: (Ooo, tremble at the 6 damage. Heh.)
(1) Etray: (better than the first shot....)
(2) Kibin: (He is now at 28, and thusly stunned.)
(1) Etray: What? I hit?
(1) Etray: Huh.
(2) Kibin: The guard fires two more shots at Ray Den, not letting a flesh wound distract him.
(2) Kibin: [2d6.vs(3)] -> [6,2] = (1)
(2) Kibin: [2d6.vs(3)] -> [2,1] = (0)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [6] = (6)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [5] = (5)
(2) Kibin: Of which only the first one hits.
(5) Ray Den: (Er, how is he shooting this much?)
(2) Kibin: [5d6.vs(3)] -> [5,1,3,5,5] = (4)
(1) Etray: (he got ranks, and is pushing it for the purpose)
(2) Kibin: (Simple. By taking a -2D penalty to all rolls.)
(2) Kibin: (He's shooting at the absolute maximum for handguns, 3 shots.)
(2) Kibin: And Ray Den is now wounded, and falls to the ground and loses all actions for this round. Not that he has any left, mind you.
(1) Etray: (And then it's Ray Den's turn again in the next round.....)
(2) Kibin: (Yup. Heh.)
(2) Kibin: ( He can stand up, and then take two shots after the guard fires, but he would be at a -3D penalty, -4D for the offhand weapon.)
(2) Kibin: (*is using the rules for woundage now*)
(1) Etray: (clearly)
(5) Ray Den: (...How about stand, move ten feet and Martial Arts flip him?)
(2) Kibin: (That works.)
(2) Kibin: (Tossing your weapon aside, I suppose?)
(5) Ray Den: (Sure. I got more.)
(5) Ray Den: [Bad dice format] - [Multitask: [2d6])
(5) Ray Den: (Multitask: [2d6] -> [6,4] = (10))
(5) Ray Den: [1d6] -> [1] = (1)
(5) Ray Den: [1d6] -> [3] = (3)
(2) Kibin: (You can't have a critical failure on a wild die critical success.)
(5) Ray Den: (Martial Arts: [7d6.vs(3)] -> [4,1,3,1,4,3,4] = (5))
(2) Kibin: (Not... turn... yet... Etray's turn, then the guards turn, then your turn again.)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [4] = (4)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [2] = (2)
(5) Ray Den: (...Didn't we already do that?)
(2) Kibin: (No, that was LAST round.)
(1) Etray: (Getting in range so it's easier to hit, then firing... twice, unless it'd put me at an action penalty)
(1) Etray: Firearms: [2d6.vs(3)] -> [1,4] = (1)
(2) Kibin: (You're already at short range. Getting into point blank range?)
(1) Etray: [1d6] -> [2] = (2)
(2) Kibin: (First shot misses, but you have another shot at 2d6.)
(2) Kibin: Next round, after the guard and Ray Den. Guards turn...)
(1) Etray: (I want to only need 2 successes; I imagine Ray Den is keeping the guard distracted.)
(2) Kibin: The guard fires again at Ray Den as he approaches, at point blank range. (3 total actions again.)
(2) Kibin: Firearms: [2d6.vs(3)] -> [6,2] = (1)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [5] = (5)
(2) Kibin: (*blam*)
(2) Kibin: [5d6.vs(3)] -> [6,4,6,1,3] = (4)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [3] = (3)
(5) Ray Den: (And I believe he just hit less than half health.)
(2) Kibin: (Yup, knocked down again and at -2D to all actions...)
(1) Etray: (I think he's reffering to the sim safety measure, actually)
(2) Kibin: (Oh. Right.)
(2) Kibin: And Ray Den dissolves in a pile of code as he's hit, as he hit the sim safety threshold.
(2) Kibin: Thus waking back up in the real world, and leaving Etray.
(5) Ray Den: "Ray Den...Is so humiliated..." <- Humouous.>
(5) Ray Den: * Humourous
(1) Etray: Code vs. Code... what a world.....
(2) Kibin: (Etray? You got a shot left.)
(1) Etray: Firearms: [2d6.vs(3)] -> [3,5] = (2)
(2) Kibin: (Blam! Point blank in the face!)
(1) Etray: [5d6.vs(3)] -> [5,3,1,3,4] = (4)
(2) Kibin: (Ahem... damage?)
(1) Etray: 8.
(2) Kibin: (Nearly half damage, and thus is knocked down...)
(2) Kibin: The bullet hits, and the guard is knocked down.... getting back up to his feet. He fires his last bullet at Etray...
(2) Kibin: [2d6] -> [6,5] = (11)
(2) Kibin: [1d6] -> [5] = (5)
(2) Kibin: Which hits...
(2) Kibin: [Bad dice format] - [5d6x2]
(2) Kibin: [5d6.vs(3)] -> [2,5,3,6,3] = (4)
(2) Kibin: And does 8 damage. Knocking Etray down, as he's below 75% health.
(2) Kibin: Round 3.... Etray's turn.
(1) Etray: Better get up...
(1) Etray: (Stand, fire later... assuming I didn't drop the gun....)
(2) Kibin: (Nope.)
(5) Ray Den: (BRB)
(2) Kibin: As Etray stands, the guard fires his gun again... only to be greeted by an empty click. He tossses the gun aside, moving up to Etray and giving him a nice old punch to the stomach.(2 actions, -2D penalties from various sources.)
(1) Etray: Well, as hack the matrix is a non-action anyway.... [2d6.vs(3)] -> [4,1] = (1)
(1) Etray: (Cancel Kenetic Energy)
(1) Etray: (Ah, no it doesn't - nevermind)
(2) Kibin: (Which fails.)
(1) Etray: "Note that "Cancel Kinetic Energy" requires a concentrated effort where as other damage-reducing Matrix Skills, such as Resiliency, are automatic and do not require a concentrated action"
(2) Kibin: (There is that...)
(2) Kibin: [2d6] -> [5,4] = (9)
(2) Kibin: The punch lands...
(2) Kibin: [6d6.vs(3)] -> [2,5,2,1,4,3] = (3)
(2) Kibin: (Doing 3 damage. Tremble before the 3 damage.
(1) Etray: (With the 8 from earlier, that puts Etray at 19 - 15 is the half-mark)
(2) Kibin: (Yeah. You're still in. Just knock em dead this round. :)
(1) Etray: Why, oh why is it that every single program has pain receptors?
(1) Etray: Ah well.
(1) Etray: (Still standing this time?
(1) Etray: )
(2) Kibin: (Yup.)
(2) Kibin: (Shoot? Point blank range?)
(1) Etray: (Yep)
(1) Etray: Firearms: [2d6.vs(3)] -> [3,6] = (2)
(1) Etray: (Still going for two shots per round)
(1) Etray: Hah!
(5) Ray Den: (Back.)
(1) Etray: [5d6.vs(3)] -> [1,3,6,4,6] = (4)
(1) Etray: [1d6] -> [1] = (1)
(2) Kibin: (Below half health, he's now back on the ground in pain.)
(2) Kibin: (Round two! Etray?)
(1) Etray: Firearms: [3d6.vs(0)] -> [3,3,3] = (9)
(1) Etray: Misstyped; ignore.
(1) Etray: Firearms: [2d6.vs(3)] -> [4,2] = (1)
(1) Etray: (Still going for two shots per round. Missed that one.)
(2) Kibin: (...bah.)
(2) Kibin: (Ad-hoc +1 to your roll since he's on the ground and all.)
(1) Etray: (... So I hit? Yay!)
(1) Etray: [5d6.vs(3)] -> [4,1,5,1,4] = (3)
(1) Etray: (for 6).
(1) Etray: Stay down.....
(2) Kibin: The guard still gets up to his feet, mortally wounded and heavily dazed. He still tries to get another punch in on Etray...
(2) Kibin: (Etray?)
(1) Etray: Firearms: [2d6.vs(3)] -> [1,5] = (1)
(1) Etray: [1d6] -> [3] = (3)
(1) Etray: Stupid wall. Always hated that wall.
(2) Kibin: (...which misses.)
(1) Etray: Yes, I meant to hit the wall. I did, I did.
(1) Etray: Bah, can't even convince myself, and who's here for me to convince?
(2) Kibin: The security guard goes for another punch...which he has no chance of landing, his arm not even going the nessecary distance to hit Etray.
(2) Kibin: Round four, etray?
(1) Etray: (sure).
(1) Etray: Firearms: [2d6.vs(3)] -> [3,4] = (2)
(2) Kibin: (Damage?)
(1) Etray: [5d6.vs(3)
(1) Etray: [5d6.vs(3)] -> [6,4,3,2,6] = (4)
(1) Etray: (Still going for two shots per round)
(1) Etray: [1d6] -> [2] = (2)
(2) Kibin: Which kills the guard. Finnally.
(2) Kibin: Operator: "Congrats, you finnally did it. Hmmm... seem to have mixed up some of the files..."
(2) Kibin: (I realized that I gave him a handgun, when he was supposed to have a 4d6 pistol. :P)
(1) Etray: Oh? I thought I only fired the six shots....
(2) Kibin: (...though it is a 4d6x3 pistol.)
(1) Etray: Hmm... I really need to code myself a nice guard dog....
(1) Etray: Or three...
(2) Kibin: (Anyway, that's all for the day. Gotta go now.)
(1) Etray: Take care.
(1) Etray:
(2) Kibin: (In a couple of weeks, I'll have more complete rules, and we can have some well defined fun instead of ad-hocing a lot of stuff.)
(2) Kibin: (With you going out into the 'real world'. :) )
(2) Kibin: (*laughs evilly*)
(5) Ray Den: (See you next week.)
