The Concept of Oceania

This section is here to explain the concept behind Oceania and what everything is based on.

The Empire
I'm roleplaying Oceania as the empire, not the emperor or any other fictional political figure. Thus any communications from Oceania may bear the names of any important figure within the empire, but it will always be signed by me with a "-Km" or "-Kmusante". Oceania is based around things that I see or read and find interesting and applicable to this type of roleplaying.

History
The history of Oceania is completely original. I tried to merge an epic space opera type setting with human politics, super weapons, and imagination. The use of humans as Xel-sheole slaves is there to emphasize human adaptability and to explain how humans happened to be spread around the galaxy. The subsequent freedom attained by the humans is offset by their inability effectively govern themselves without resorting to war and violence. The beginning of the Oceania-New Shukur-Fenola war (not the revolutionary war) was based on some war (I can't remember which) between the British and the Americans where the British captured American ships and impressed the American crews into the Royal Navy against (I think) the French. The reference at the bottom is there to add realism: as if the history was written by someone who was actually there. (Note the allusion to the War of the Worlds in the first paragraph.)

Galactic Space Patrol
The GSP is modeled after the FBI.

Oceania Special Services
The OSS is modeled after the American OSS of WWII.

Politcorps
The Politcorps is a much more conservative version of the secret police of Nazi Germany.

Psinet
The Psinet is modeled after the internet. The Cyberscape is a visual representation of the Psinet. I was inspired by movies like The Lawnmower Man and The Matrix and TV shows like Reboot. It's basically a 3D WWW. People 'log on' to the Psinet using their brains and brain enhancing hardware. Cybertelepaths are the elite of the elite when it comes to the Psinet or the Cyberscape. Superior mental discepline allows them to perform all sorts of amazing things in Cyberscape. Much more than the average Joe who's got himself a computer and a Psinet link. The Psinet is inhabited, not only by the users(people logged on), but also by various types of intelligent and semi-intelligent software(both malicious and non-malicious) and the personalities of deceased cybertelepaths.
