Panzerjaeger Company*
*
In 1970s BTR-60PBs were bought from the USSR. Now the jaeger battalions that still used bicycles for main transport were equiped with APCs to give them more protection and mobility. The jaegers using APCs are now called panssarijaakari (armoured jaegers, or better panzerjaegers)*
*
At first the Armoured brigade had 1 tank battalion, 1 pzjaeger- and a number of jaeger battalions. Normally the tank battalion would be divided to the jaeger battalions, company each. The tank company would normally be divided to jaeger companies, platoon each. This clearly shows how infantry-concentrated the finnish armoured force was. Pzjaegers were the main fighting force and tanks were only to support them and the bicycle equiped jaegers.*
*
Later the organization was changed and tanks and pzjaegers became "equal" in numbers. This also changed the way armoured forces were to be used. Now, depending on the situation and terrain, pzjaegers would support the tanks and vice versa.*
