SPAA Platoon*
*
The SPAA platoons in Finnish army have always provided the armoured forces with cover against air attacks. First they were the swedish Landsverks from WW2 in the Tank Battalion. Later the ZSU-57-2 (and M model) took the role. With the new armoured battalions from 1980's onwards the SPAAs have been organized into platoons in these battalions. Later to boost the SPAA capability (accuracy in particular) the FDF constructed the "Marksman" SPAA vehicles and they were used in the armoured battalions also. The number of SPAA vehicles has always been rather low in Finnish armoured forces.*
*
When the new Mechanized Battlegroups are formed, the Itpsv 90 "Marksman" SPAAs are assigned to these battlegroups. The SPAAs work either as 2 vehicle platoons or 3 vehicle platoons depending on organization and equipment in use.*
