BACKGROUND:*
This scenario is an introduction to Finnish post-war armoured attack. The main component is a battlegroup formed around a Jaeger Battalion, with a tank (or Sturmi) company, Anti-Tank Gun company, pioneer units, signal units, logistic units and artillery battalion attached. The attack is conducted against a prepared enemy with tank and AT support. The units in the battlegroup were used in the 1950s so that the jaegers, supported by strong but swift artillery barrage, did the main killing work (including anti-tank), while the anti-tank guns provided support by taking out enemy tanks and infantry, and the tanks providing instant direct fire support for the jaegers, mainly against infantry and weapon emplacements as the tanks were seen too fragile against enemy tanks and AT.*
*
ENEMY:*
An enemy size of a reinforced company has been spotted dug-in on a hill along our attack route. They have some heavy tank support and also many anti-tank guns and weapons. Small minefields are also possible.*
*
OWN:*
Our BattleGroup (BG) with its main forces moved in the area last night in the cover of darkness. Two of the 3 Jaeger companies are in the area, with AT-Gun platoon, pioneer platoon and artillery support. The last units, a mixed Sturmi/Sotka -company and an SPAA Platoon will arrive in the morning when the attack is to start, to minimize the risk of being spotted by the enemy.*
*
The two companies are ready to attack, one on each side of the main attack route. The AT-Gun platoon is in positions, along with 2nd Jaegers Company's Machineguns, on a hill opposing the enemy controlled hill. They have not yet been seen by the enemy. A small detachement of friendly recon and sissi-troops has infiltrated to the enemy rear with the task to take the bridge intact, and also to harass any enemy reserves.*
*
MISSION:*
The BG is to destroy the enemy units along its attack route, take the hill and the bridge, and to prepare to continue the attack behind another BG that will take point after the area here is clear of enemy.*
*
*
"Heavily armoured as they are, the tanks can follow the jaegers on point, thus so our tanks' mission is to provide the jaegers with swift, effective and instant fire support, substantially increasing their impetus and speed."*
