BACKROUND*
*
In 2003, the Finnish Defence Forces laid the groundwork for a new type of reservist unit to be established. These units would be known as Provincial Troops (Maakuntajoukot) and their war time tasks would be local defence and guard duties. Unlike regular reserve units, these company strong units would be formed from volunteer reservists living near the area of responsibility for the unit. Also unlike other reservist units, the Provincial Troops could be used to provide assistance for healthcare, police and fire departments should the need arise during a peacetime crisis.*
*
In 2008, the concept was tested for the first time. In late November 2007 the water supply in the town of Nokia was contaminated after sewage water was accidentally mixed with drinking water. With all tap water becoming unusable for several months, the Finnish Defence forces was amongst those handing out fresh water for the population. However, this assitance was rendered impossible in early January 2008 as the conscripts currently serving had completed their service and were demobilised. The Hiidenvesi Provincial Company was given the task to hand out water for the distressed population. Handing out water for five days, the company performed it's tasks well and later on several other Provincial Companies were given the same task. When the decontamination efforts were finally completed in February 2008, the Provincial Troops had proven themselves to be a valuable asset in the time of peace.*

CURRENT SITUATION*
*
With tensions between Finland and Russia running high, elements of the Finnish Defence Forces are being mobilised. The Susiraja Provincial Company has been offering security for mobilisation in the Joensuu region as well as guarding several key institutions. A few hours ago, the automated surveillance system at a local water purification facility gave an alarm and surveillance feed revealed several masked gunmen in the vincinity of the facility.*
*
With no other units available, the Susiraja Company is given the task of resolving the situation. The gunmen are believed to be hostile special forces with unknown goals. They have probably arrived in small patrols crossing the nearby lake and now they've taken up positions near the water purification facility and the local harbor. With no time to wait for morning, your men are facing a real challenge. The shortage of proper night vision devices means the enemy has the advantage. The company's mortar platoon is still underway, as is the third infantry platoon.*
*
There's only one thing tipping the balance in your favour. An old T-55 tank from the nearby garrison, used for AT training in peace time, has been attached to your company for this mission. The tank, having somewhat modern night vision equipment and a 100mm main gun, will probably be the decisive factor in the battle.*
*
YOUR MISSION*
*
You are to retake the harbor and the water purification facility. Try to minimize friendly casualties and use the T-55 to destroy any enemy positions you encounter. We believe the enemy has at least some anti tank weapons with them, so be careful. Losing the tank will probably mean your men will be slaughtered by the better equipped enemy.
