CURRENT SITUATION*
*
The early hours of August 27 proved disastrous for the Finns. While the initial Russian attacks near the eastern border had been thrown back, the Finnish high command was stunned when the first reports of a massive airborne landing in Western Finland arrived. Even more disturbing were news of a large fleet appearing in the Gulf of Finland, heading towards the southern coast. Following a short and desperate naval battle, the Finnish navy was forced to retreat and the hostile ships begun to unload the troops they carried.*
*
With at least two battalions of airborne forces and a brigade of naval infantry in their rear, the Finns are short on options. While units from the high commands reserve are dispatched to contain the beachead, they'll have a difficult task at their hands. Having been stationed several hundred kilometers east of the landing, it'll take them hours to reach their destination. The Russians on the other hand are preparing to receive further reinforcements by sea and air. The few provincial companies and coastal infantry units can't hold the Russians back forever.*
*
Planning to open a second front in the Finnish rear, the Russians are taking an enormous risk. If the Finns can reach the landing sites in time to prevent the Russians from reinforcing their troops, it'll be more than likely that the invasion will fail. A defeat of such magnitude would force the Russians to reassess their goals in the war.*

YOUR MISSION*
*
While mechanized battlegroups and several jaeger brigades are hurriedly driving towards the coast, one battalion from the Pori Jaeger Brigade is given a different mission. Elements of the battalion will be airlifted to Loimaa, a good 70 kilometers inland from the Russian beachhead. The town of Hirvikoski has been occupied by Russian airborne forces. Recapturing the town is vital, as it holds three bridges we need intact for our armoured units to use. Other bridges in the area have been taken out by either Russian sappers or precision guided munitions. The Russians are probably trying to hold on to the bridges so they can advance further inland once their naval battalions reach the town.*
*
Land your battalion north of the town and proceed to eliminate the Russian occupiers. The shortage in helos means that you'll have only one jaeger company, reinforced by anti tank assets, to do the job. The Russians have been identified as elements of the VDV, the Russian Airborne Infantry. This will not be a pushover. Casualties will probably be high.*
*
Due to the importance of your mission, you'll have all the available artillery units in the area under your command. This means you'll have three battalions of artillery and a battery of rocket artillery available. While most of our air forces are busy trying to prevent any new paradrops, two F-18s will be available to assist you. Two UAVs are also available. Proceed with caution and bombard the living daylights out of the Russians before finishing them with your infantry. Level the entire town if you have to, just make sure those bridges will be available once our heavy armour arrives tonight.
