Hello, my name is Rolfe Bergstrom. This is the 1.4 version of my second Wierd Worlds mod, Teeming With Life.

July 2007 - Began work on the 1.0 version of this mod.
Late 2007 - Version 1.2 was up on the web.
November 2009 - After 2 years without touching it, I decided to make version 1.3
December 2009 - Version 1.4 released.
December 30 2009 - Version 1.4.1 released.
February 8 2010 - Version 1.4.2 released.

-----------------------

Concept:
This is a mod in which the existing lifeforms find new purpose. My main goal is to give the vast majority of the creatures either a quest or a use. Originally, it was just the Lummoxes, but it seems likely to be every single animal when I'm done with it all.

-----------------------

Changes in 1.4.2:
+ Deleted "always" tag from Thief quest.
+ Renamed and reorganized some graphics files. Trimmed the file size a little in the process.
+ Upped the value of the stasis tank, so in some missions / situations it's better not to use it.
+ Fixed error in game.ini that probably would have caused a crash when you killed a Ravian.
+ Tweaked graphics (very minor change) on chaosweevil and plasmaworm.
+ Gave the space whales a more whale-like formation.
+ Fixed the science vessel ally to produce an animal in the right window. It's no longer confusing.
+ Made the "snakebite" and "snakegod" quests easier to trigger, and made small improvements to the art of the main item they produce.
+ New artwork for the Galaxy's Largest Lummox Ranch.
+ New loot: a fresh set of towels
+ New quest: Cursed springs of Jusenkyo.
+ New "intruder" quest, and other quests (and an item) that trigger off of it.

-----------------------

Changes in version 1.4.1:
+ Fixed the bug that was causing a crash when you refuse to give up the unicorn.

-----------------------

Changes in version 1.4:
+ Altered functionality on Plasmaworm and Chaos Weevil. Sometimes they do nothing, other times they'll surprise you.
+ Improved art on several items.
+ Fixed bug where Amoeba's drive and thruster had pictures reversed.
+ Made the life tank text more flavorful.
+ Fixed a bug involving the Threep, and even made it in-character this time!
+ Calatian text adjustment.
+ Removed quest that gave you a pregnant lummox and a life tank at the start of the game. It was rather broken.
+ Tweaks to several other lummox-related quests.
+ Fixed graphics on the life tank. Also, it should only work once now, not be an endless supply of lifeforms. However, it should generate two animals when it is activated.
+ Changed text on Calatian Colony quests, so it's not as surprising that you suddenly have a Calatian on board. (I can't remember why there's no window telling you you have one, but I seem to recall that it went away when I debugged some glitch two years ago.)
+ Hopefully fixed bug where bee sound won't stop if they eat a lummox.
+ Assorted minor de-bugs in other quests. Should be a livelier and less frustrating mod now.

-----------------------

Other, older stuff changed in previous versions:
+Added Goldilocks and more than 3 animals. (Phase Spiders, Candlepillars, Riding Slugs, Unicorns, Rock Lions)
+Stasis Tank - lifeform storage unit
+Breedable fuzzy lummoxes and related quests.
+The Muktian beekeepers society, and Piranha Bees in combat.
+Now we know where the Muktians get their guns from.
+Space Whales aren't just a postcard opportunity anymore.
+Megamoebas finally live up to their name.
+The Garthan Snake God. Snakebite voodoo.
+Threep school. (+Bug fixed)
+Science vessel available as an ally.
+Lookout Frogs and Garthans. Lummoxes and Bees. What do these have in common? Put them together to find out.
+Alternate ways to make nice with other aliens.
+Increased points for lifeforms in some missions.
+New music for the Snake God. Music provided by Ace_Garp, aka Rick of Semihere.
+New music for the Galaxy's Largest Lummox Ranch. Thanks again, Rick!
+1.22 patch compliant
+Alternate version of Calatian quest, randomly replaces other version in some games.
+Fixed minor glitch in Science Vessel ally. Also gave the ship a name.

-----------------------

This mod was created with an eye for replayability. A number of the quests share keys, and thus will not trigger in the same game. You have to play quite a few times if you want to see everything.

-----------------------

Soapbox Alert: Having a readme file in your mod is a great idea. I wish the rest of the modders out there would do so consistently. It provides an opportunity to spell out clearly for other modders what's been added and removed. Those of you who have readme files, thank you, you made it easier for me to debug my fledgling efforts based on your examples.

Many thanks to Digital Eel, Shrapnel Games, the person known as Fingers, and the Modmaker's Guide to the Galaxy. If not for those folks, this mod obviously wouldn't exist.

Additional help was found by perusing the forums at Infinite Space Federation and Shrapnel games.

Thanks to my father-in-law, whose image appears in the mod somewhere.

Special thanks to Ace_Garp, aka Rick of Semihere. Rick provided the awesome "Snake God" music, and the cheesy-but-perfect "Lummox Ranch" music. If you haven't heard them both yet, you haven't played this mod enough. Visit www.semihere.com to learn more about Rick's music and his band.

Biggest thanks of them all to my wife, Sarah. Some guys are lucky enough to find a wife who tolerates their gaming. A few find a gal so cool she encourages their gaming. Sarah actually partakes in and inspires my gaming. She helped with brainstorming, troubleshooting, picture creation, and playtesting. The initial idea of doing a mod focused on giving more depth and usefulness to the existing lifeforms in WW:RTIS was Sarah's. And yes, I realize just how incredibly blessed I am to have her.
