Re: (N)GC4 - Game Story Thread
In Orbit of the Homeworld
Councillor Dokeo looked out the window into the depths of space. The view in front of him was all but barren, it was only filled by the partly completed form of a vessel. The Council had decided that for the good of the State expansion was needed, and to begin that task this vessel was to be built. Slowly Dokeo could hear two others approach his back, without turning he spoke. "Is the construction on schedule?" he asked. "Yes brother. We have all but completed" answered Ergon, Chief foreman for space construction. Dokeo knew Ergon to be a hardy worker, no effort to much for the good of the State. Where it not for the touch of the gods he might well have found himself working alongside. The Gods though had greater tasks in mind for Dokeo and he was glad to obey. “We should build Warships, not glorified transports!” exclaimed Polemo, the Auxiliary representative. Dokeo was not surprised to hear such thoughts from the Soldier caste. “Ever are we Guardians… and Tradesmen” said Dokeo motioning to Ergon, who nodded in reply” willing to listen to the Auxiliaries in time of conflict, and if and when we find others who might be a threat we shall heed your words, but for the moment the council has spoken and our tasks have been set” “Hmmph” grunted Polemo. “Continue with your tasks, my brothers, I shall return to the Council and report we are on schedule. For the good of the State” he ended. “For the good of the State” replied the other representatives in unison, as tradition dictated. [ February 18, 2004, 11:43: Message edited by: Randallw ] |

The Birthing Season
"Order!, Order in the council chambers." "Good people, as you know the Birthing Season is upon us once again. However, this season if we do not expand our Colony we will soon perish as a species." a wave of murmering and whispers spreads across the council chambers as people digest this sad but true fact. "But fear not, our good colony minister 'Mr. Columbus' has a bold plan to expand our colony to nearby planets and even neighbouring star systems." The gathered crowd takes in a sharp gasp at this announcement. "I know the idea of leaving your home world is a frightening one, but it is a necessary evil that we must embrace if we are to survive. I now put forth a call for vollenteers to brave the new frontiers that we shall discover. So any who would like the Honor and Gratitude of your fellow citizens please report to the Colony Minister for your new off-world assignments." Surprisingly the vast majority of people raise their hands in excitement. Eager to become pioneers in this bold new era. Let the games begin. Good beginnings from the "True Republic" and the "Spelunker's" empires, both different but stirs the interest for the future....

Re: (N)GC4 - Game Story Thread
Yes, nice to see some stories even at start http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
And they even managed to submit their turns in addition to writing... Hurry up, we should be able to do a turn in less than 48 hours at start, shouldn't we??? |
Re: (N)GC4 - Game Story Thread
STOP!
One player uploaded the wrong empire file, using 0 racial points instead of 2000. Obviously he thinks this will be a serious handicap and has asked for a restart. I hate restarts, but I would have asked for it aswell if it was me! 16 players have uploaded their first turns, should we restart? Opinions please, and fast, I'll decide before tomorrow morning (9 hours from now). |

But I think we should go ahead with the restart. At least it was now and not 20 turns in. Being the first turn it isn't too much of a hassle to remake our turns. That is MHO of course. |

I'll go out and run my laps in the forest now and then off to bed. But if I haven't too many angry mails in my mailbox in the morning we'll restart. Edit: It's an old tradition in the NGC games to restart! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif [ February 16, 2004, 18:58: Message edited by: Ruatha ] |
Re: (N)GC4 - Game Story Thread
Ok, sure, np with restart (I had a bad start anyway http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif ) - but please ASAP. Do you already have a new empire file? If not, kick that player as hard as possible so you will get it NOW ! Another 72 hours to wait for the Last .emp should not be needed.

When I restart I want to check every empire file and every starting planet to minimize restarts, this time I only checked starting planets, in the restart I'll check empire info aswell http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif No, now there's no excuse anymore. Off I go to exercise my poor legs.... |
Re: (N)GC4 - Game Story Thread
I have no problem with a restart, I'm all for a nice fair start. then there will be no excuses when I win. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif I guess we won't need to upload our empires again, just load and play our first turn again right? |
