Re: Vampires, anyone?

I don't think anyone had a problem with vampires (or other ally-summoning dudes). I'm perfectly content to be wrong, though.

Re: Vampires, anyone?

Well, seeing as the reason for the limitations is to prevent hoarding of various elements, it would sound logical to restrict also hoarding that is not item related. I really wouldn't know how big a deal it is, end-game-wise, but considering the perceived effect of unlimited Soul Contracts...

OTOH it would be just plain silly to restrict werewolves or draconian chiefs. (Or Ulmish wolf-herders or Mictlan's tribal chiefs, for that matter http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif)

Why don't someone with an opinion comment?

I've no problem with ally summons.
Either they summon crap or that they waste a turn of an otherwise useful commander.
I say, if they want to waste the wraith lord's prowess on ghost summons it's their problem.

I think they community should request a feature of global limitation gem producing items.

Am I the only one having trouble connecting to the game server? So far I missed t17 "waiting for game info"

Re: Vampires, anyone?

Classic server wonkiness. Server just needs another restart.

Basically you should be able to connect by trying repeatedly... i.e. start dom2, connect, close dom2 the moment its apparent the connection is hung, immediately try again, repeat until success.

Not ideal, but until the server is given a restart to fix the problem its the only way...

Re: Vampires, anyone?

You can also have success by just waiting for the "failed" dialog to pop up and hitting "Retry". That probably puts less strain on the server, which maybe helps the situation.

Re: Vampires, anyone?

Regarding ally summoning, its not a problem for most things. The summons are for for the most only good becuase they are free, not becuase they are particularly potent troops.

The Vampires are really only considered a problem becuase they are immortal... after all their stats are not great for the late game.

Immortality is the kicker: imagine, if you will, fighting and beating the mile-wide mass of 800 vampires at great expense, only to have them reappear the next turn at the guys capital... oh the headaches.

It can certainly be a problem if you are not equipped to deal with it, e.g. wrathful skies, firestorm, or other dramatic battlefield wide killing spell.
